- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn French with Fexingo? Luna: Always! Last time we did the torso. What’s today? Lucas: We’re going back to the hand and arm. We covered it in episode 150 and 152, but I want to really drill it so it sticks. Luna: Perfect. I still mix up a few of those. Lucas: Let’s start with the basics. Repeat after me: la main. Luna: La main. Lucas: That means 'the hand.' Good. Now, le bras. Luna: Le bras. Lucas: The arm. And les doigts – the fingers. Luna: Les doigts. Oh, that one’s a bit tricky. Lucas: It is. Let’s say it together: les doigts. Luna: Les doigts. Lucas: Better! Now, le coude – the elbow. Luna: Le coude. Like 'coud' but with an e. Lucas: Exactly. And finally, l'épaule – the shoulder. Luna: L'épaule. That one’s pretty. Lucas: It is. Let’s do a quick rundown: la main, le bras, les doigts, le coude, l'épaule. Luna: La main, le bras, les doigts, le coude, l'épaule. Lucas: Awesome. Now, a little sentence: Je lève la main – I raise my hand. Luna: Je lève la main. Lucas: Perfect. And: Je plie le bras – I bend my arm. Luna: Je plie le bras. Lucas: Great. Let’s try a mini scene. Imagine you’re at a doctor’s appointment. Luna: Okay. Le docteur va regarder mon bras? Lucas: Oui, and maybe he asks you to bouger les doigts – move your fingers. Luna: Ah, so he might say: Bougez les doigts, s'il vous plaît. Lucas: Exactly. And then: Pliez le coude. Bend your elbow. Luna: Pliez le coude. Got it. Lucas: And finally: Levez l'épaule. Raise your shoulder. Luna: Levez l'épaule. That’s a good workout. Lucas: You know, this kind of practice really helps. And if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with French, we’d love your support. Luna: Yeah, we keep the show ad-free on purpose. If you want to help keep it that way, the link is buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: No pressure at all. Just a way for listeners who find value to chip in. Now, back to those fingers – let’s count them in French. Luna: Ooh, good idea. Un doigt, deux doigts, trois doigts... Lucas: Perfect. But careful: in French, you say 'doigt' for one finger, 'doigts' for many. The pronunciation is the same. Luna: So les doigts is like 'lay dwah'? Lucas: Exactly. And la main is 'la mahn'. Luna: La mahn, le bra, le kood, lay dwah, lay-pohl. Lucas: Almost perfect. Le coude is 'luh kood', and l'épaule is 'lay-pohl' – no extra e. Luna: L'épaule, l'épaule. Got it. Lucas: Let’s do a quick review. I’ll say the English, you say the French. Hand. Luna: La main. Lucas: Arm. Luna: Le bras. Lucas: Fingers. Luna: Les doigts. Lucas: Elbow. Luna: Le coude. Lucas: Shoulder. Luna: L'épaule. Lucas: Excellent. You nailed it. Luna: Thanks! I think the repetition is really helping. Lucas: That's the Fexingo way. Practice these until we meet again. Luna: À la prochaine!
