- 0:02Deep in the heart of Israel, God desires to be known by his
- 0:06chosen people, revealing himself to Moses as Yahweh the Great.
- 0:12I am a name too holy to utter. The Israelites call him Jehovah.
- 0:20Throughout the Old Testament, Jehovah responds to the faith of
- 0:23his people and shows himself strong on their behalf.
- 0:28In remembrance of Jehovah's power and love, the people give
- 0:31him additional names describing his ability and willingness to
- 0:35help in their lives. Each name describes the nature
- 0:40of the one true God. Each is Jehovah.
- 0:45Together they are the J team. Gideon called together 32,000
- 0:57men to fight against the Midianites who were oppressing
- 1:00the Israelites. But Jehovah God knew that the
- 1:03soldiers would take credit for their victory.
- 1:06So instead, the Lord LED Gideon to reduce the size of the army
- 1:10to just 300 men. Now God could show himself
- 1:13strong on behalf of his people. What are you going to do with
- 1:28only 300 man Gideon? The Midianites have thousands of
- 1:31armed soldiers. Yeah, you don't even have any
- 1:35weapons. Does he have any weapons?
- 1:38No. He doesn't have any weapons.
- 1:41All he has are a bunch of trumpets and clay pots.
- 1:44That's not an army, that's a marching band.
- 1:48I told a joke. Did you hear my joke?
- 1:51This is no time for jokes. We're trying to make him afraid,
- 1:54remember? Lord.
- 1:57I've done everything you've told me to do.
- 1:59Oh, he's praying. Bow your head.
- 2:02Ow would you act like a demon? We don't bow our heads for
- 2:05praying. I'm sorry.
- 2:07We only have 300 men left. Against their thousands.
- 2:11Yeah, it'll take a miracle. Ow don't give him any ideas.
- 2:18They have thousands in their army.
- 2:19Lord, we need a miracle. See what you've done.
- 2:24Shari. Uh oh.
- 2:28JT Gideon, get up, go down to the Midianite camp, for I have
- 2:34given you victory over them. But if you are afraid to attack,
- 2:38go down to their camp. Listen to what the Midianites
- 2:41are saying, and you will be greatly encouraged.
- 2:44Then you will be eager to attack.
- 2:52Who was that? That was Jehovah Shalom.
- 2:56He does just about everything Peace, safety, health,
- 3:00protection, prosperity and provision.
- 3:03We're in big trouble if he gets a hold of us.
- 3:06We have to get out of here. Wouldn't you settle down?
- 3:10I'm trying to defeat these Israelites.
- 3:13Let's just go down to the camp and see if we can get some
- 3:15Midianites to say what we want them to say.
- 3:18You keep an eye out for Jehovah Shalom.
- 3:21Oh, I will, both eyes will be watching for him.
- 3:29So Gideon went down to the edge of the enemy camp.
- 3:32The armies of Midian, Amalek and the people of the East had
- 3:35settled in the valley like a swarm of locusts.
- 3:38Their camels were like grains of sand on the seashore, too many
- 3:42to count. Gideon crept up just as a
- 3:45Midianite soldier was telling another soldier about his dream.
- 3:55I wish we would quit destroying crops and scattering sheep and
- 3:59just pulverize those Israelites once and for all.
- 4:03Yeah, I know what you mean. Hey, did I tell you I almost
- 4:07caught a baby pig today? You're kidding.
- 4:10I'd kill for some bacon right now.
- 4:13Yeah, I almost had that little Rascal, but he got away.
- 4:17I'm not sure, but I think he smelled me coming.
- 4:20No kidding. Hey, did I tell you about my
- 4:23dream or there was a loaf of bread, not very big at all, and
- 4:28it it just tumbled into the camp.
- 4:30It did the tent and knocked it over and the tent collapsed.
- 4:35What do you think it means? What do I look like?
- 4:37A dream interpreter. That loaf of bread is Gideon.
- 4:41I have delivered you all into his hands.
- 4:43On second thought, that has to be Gideon, a man of Israel.
- 4:48God has delivered the whole camp into his hands.
- 4:51Praise Jehovah, I have to tell the men it's time to attack.
- 4:56What are you talking about? Who is Gideon?
- 4:59I don't know why in the world would I say that.
- 5:02You'd better go back to bed. Yeah, I think you're right.
- 5:11Hey, did you give a dream to one of those soldiers?
- 5:15Not me, I'm watching out for Jehovah.
- 5:17Shalom, remember? Besides, we give nightmares, not
- 5:21dreams. Uh oh.
- 5:23Speaking of nightmares, what is? It what's wrong?
- 5:29Our worst nightmare. It's it's, it's Jehovah Shah.
- 5:34Look. Shalom, so you're the one that
- 5:38gave that Midianite soldier that dream.
- 5:40That's right, and I know you two were up to nothing good.
- 5:46Actually, I was just telling these Midianites to leave the
- 5:50Israelites alone. Yeah, that's what I did.
- 5:54That's not true. You can't lie to God, Mr.
- 5:57Jehovah. Shalom, Sir.
- 5:59My boss was trying to get the Midianites to attack Israel.
- 6:02But now that you're here, it's all over.
- 6:06Yeah, we don't mess with the J team.
- 6:08Not. Not anymore.
- 6:10We'll just be on our way now. A beast.
- 6:16Come on, Damon. Peace.
- 6:22Gideon went on to defeat the Midianites, freeing the
- 6:26Israelites from their oppression and they gave all the glory to
- 6:29God. There was peace in Israel once
- 6:32again. Whenever you need peace in your
- 6:35life, look to God. He keeps in perfect peace those
- 6:39who keep their trust in Him. He is the Lord God Almighty, our
- 6:44peace. He is Jehovah Shalom.
