- 0:00KARA: I saw Violet with Deaf Broadway last Friday because
- 0:04a couple of my friends were leads in the show
- 0:06and they did a wonderful job. But then as I was
- 0:09sitting there, I realized the show is not for
- 0:11me. Not my favorite. It had like some weird racial
- 0:14politics.
- 0:14DANI: Yeah.
- 0:14KARA: And it's about this woman who
- 0:17has a scar on her face and she wants to travel
- 0:20from North Carolina to Oklahoma. The year is
- 0:231962. It's the Vietnam War era, and it's also
- 0:27the Civil Rights era. But she has a scar, and
- 0:29she wants to go to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to meet this
- 0:33Evangelical preacher who's going to supposedly
- 0:35heal her and make her beautiful.
- 0:35DANI: Likely story.
- 0:38KARA: Very realistic. But not really any explanation
- 0:42of why she believes it so strongly, or I guess
- 0:47I understand the desire to be beautiful, but
- 0:49then, spoiler, when she gets there, the evangelical
- 0:52preacher was like, have you considered focusing
- 0:55on your inner beauty? Because the scar on your
- 0:57face looks fine. Like it's healed. And she was
- 0:59like, I don't care that it's healed. I want it
- 1:01gone. And he was like, I can't do that. I'm not
- 1:03a plastic surgeon.
- 1:03DANI: Right.
- 1:03KARA: And then she's like,
- 1:06oh my God, I'm ugly. But then the person she
- 1:09was racist to in the beginning was like, no,
- 1:12you're beautiful. Also, will you marry me? She's
- 1:14like, okay.
- 1:14DANI: Okay.
- 1:14KARA: And that's the story. And then
- 1:18the writers came up and they're these two white
- 1:20people. And A and I looked at each other like,
- 1:23what the hell did we just watch? Not my favorite
- 1:25thing. I think I'm realizing there were just
- 1:27some musicals, maybe I liked them earlier on,
- 1:30but now I look at them and I'm like, what on
- 1:33Earth, what were they thinking?
- 1:33DANI: I think if you
- 1:36put a lot of musicals under a lens and dissect
- 1:39the plot, you'll find that there's not a lot
- 1:42going on or there's a lot of the wrong stuff
- 1:44going on. And they just kind of rest on their
- 1:47laurels, which are the songs.
- 1:47KARA: Yeah, like I liked
- 1:51Hamilton, but now I'm like, that's so weird.
- 1:53Dear Evan Hansen, also crazy.
- 1:53DANI: Dear Evan Hansen's
- 1:56plot is so crazy.
- 1:56KARA: Insane.
- 1:56DANI: And only like two songs
- 2:00bang. The rest of it's like...
- 2:00KARA: I know.
- 2:00DANI: Pretty
- 2:03cringe. Like, not to be like, it's cringe, but
- 2:06like it kind of is.
- 2:06KARA: [SINGS] You will be found.
- 2:06DANI: I mean,
- 2:10that's one of the songs that kind of bangs.
- 2:10KARA: For
- 2:12me, that doesn't hit. Sincerely Me hits the most
- 2:14for me.
- 2:14DANI: Really? I mean, that one's good too,
- 2:17obviously. And then Waving Through a Window,
- 2:18classic.
- 2:18KARA: So good.
- 2:18DANI: But then when you get into
- 2:22like.
- 2:22KARA: The storyline.
- 2:22DANI: The one where he's like
- 2:24talking about the baseball glove or whatever.
- 2:26KARA: I hate that one.
- 2:26DANI: Going back to Hamilton. Can't
- 2:28believe you're throwing shade at Hamilton.
- 2:28KARA: It's
- 2:31just- they talk about a very specific part of
- 2:34history without addressing anything else.
- 2:34DANI: Yeah,
- 2:37but how could they have? It's already a three
- 2:40and a half hour show.
- 2:40KARA: That's true. It's just
- 2:42fascinating.
- 2:42DANI: I think many people watched Hamilton
- 2:45and were like, and this is it. This is the whole
- 2:48story. And that's their failing, not the show's.
- 2:51KARA: For sure, I think. That's the education system's
- 2:54failing. They said, yes, Alexander Hamilton rapped.
- 2:57DANI: Right, exactly.
- 2:57KARA: He was a rapper.
- 2:57DANI: But I'll kind
- 3:00of defend Lin-Manuel Miranda to my last breath.
- 3:03I think he catches way too many strays for how
- 3:06talented he is. I don't know. People love to
- 3:08be like, he's cringe, and it's true, but he's
- 3:11so talented.
- 3:11KARA: Okay, I'll allow that.
- 3:11DANI: He's behind
- 3:13all of the good musicals that have come out in
- 3:16the last two decades.
- 3:16KARA: But is he good at writing
- 3:19rap songs?
- 3:19DANI: I mean...
- 3:19KARA: Is that your favorite musical?
- 3:23DANI: No.
- 3:23KARA: One good thing about Hamilton is that it
- 3:26did get me through AP Gov.
- 3:26DANI: Exactly.
- 3:26KARA: Do you
- 3:29know what I'm thinking of now? That ASL Theatre
- 3:32full of hearing people who did Hamilton in ASL.
- 3:35DANI: Yes. Oh, my God.
- 3:35KARA: That was crazy.
- 3:35DANI: That was crazy.
- 3:39We never really got a resolution there. Why did
- 3:41that happen? Also, and then all the people being
- 3:44like, they're doing stuff wrong.
- 3:44KARA: They're still
- 3:46active on Instagram. ASL Theatre, guys. Let me pull
- 3:49it up just to make sure I have the right-
- 3:49DANI: They're
- 3:51like kind of running a scam, aren't they?
- 3:51KARA: It's
- 3:54a group of ASL students.
- 3:54DANI: Who are homeschooled.
- 3:58KARA: They're all homeschooled. And they're doing plays.
- 4:01DANI: I don't align myself with them.
- 4:01KARA: So they're doing
- 4:05Defying Gravity in ASL in this video. But famously,
- 4:08they did several scenes of Hamilton in full dress,
- 4:13full costume.
- 4:13DANI: That went so viral.
- 4:13KARA: It went very
- 4:16viral because a lot of people were like, wow,
- 4:18this is so cool.
- 4:18DANI: And we were both fooled at first,
- 4:21too.
- 4:21KARA: But then several Deaf creators were like...
- 4:25so this isn't correct. This is not how you sign
- 4:27this at all. And then you look at it again. You're
- 4:30like, well, the signing doesn't make any sense.
- 4:32It's just like a bunch of high school kids who
- 4:35must live in L.A. because they...
- 4:35DANI: No.
- 4:35KARA: I know.
- 4:39Bad representation for you because they've also
- 4:42worked with Deaf West. DANIL Well, maybe they just
- 4:44like took a trip there.
- 4:44KARA: Maybe.
- 4:44DANI: I don't claim
- 4:47these people.
- 4:47KARA: Oh, they did a cover of Deaf West's
- 4:50song. I don't know. This is Elephant Shoes, the
- 4:52one that we want to see.
- 4:52DANI: Oh, I don't know. Did
- 4:54they work with Deaf West then? Or did they just
- 4:56do that?
- 4:56KARA: It just says cover.
- 4:56DANI: Okay. That could
- 4:59have been unsanctioned.
- 4:59KARA: What's your favorite
- 5:01musical?
- 5:01DANI: Probably Into the Woods.
- 5:01KARA: I've never
- 5:03seen that. What's my favorite?
- 5:03DANI: Yeah.
- 5:03KARA: I love Fun
- 5:07Home.
- 5:07DANI: Really? Gay.
- 5:07KARA: I know.
- 5:07DANI: Because I saw it and
- 5:11I was like, this is bad.
- 5:11KARA: I think...
- 5:11DANI: The keys
- 5:13song?
- 5:13KARA: It's annoying.
- 5:13DANI: Shut up about the keys.
- 5:16KARA: I think my thing is I just saw it at a very formidable
- 5:19time. I was like 14 or 15. So I was like, oh,
- 5:24I get it.
- 5:24DANI: Formative years.
- 5:24KARA: So maybe now if I
- 5:28watched it, I would be like, this is so cringe.
- 5:30Get a hold of yourself.
- 5:30DANI: Maybe don't revisit it.
- 5:32I wouldn't call it cringe. I just was like, the
- 5:35book is bad.
- 5:35KARA: I do like Spring Awakening.
- 5:35DANI: Great
- 5:38musical. Deaf West production. Stunning. Beautiful.
- 5:41That was the first time I'd seen it. I didn't
- 5:43know anything about it before then.
- 5:43KARA: My biggest
- 5:45regret is not seeing it on Broadway. Guys, I
- 5:47had internalized ableism back then. And my parents
- 5:50asked, do you want to see Deaf West do Spring
- 5:52Awakening on Broadway? And I said, no. Isn't
- 5:56that crazy?
- 5:56DANI: Was it you were like, I don't want
- 5:58to watch them sign or?
- 5:58KARA: I think I was just like,
- 6:01I don't sign. I don't know anyone who signs.
- 6:04Like, what use would this be for me?
- 6:04DANI: Well, so
- 6:07Deaf West typically works with a double cast
- 6:10so it's really cool.
- 6:10KARA: I didn't know that though.
- 6:10DANI: I think
- 6:12that's why I asked you about Violet because I
- 6:14was like I don't want to listen to Sutton Foster
- 6:16because I'm a Sutton Foster hater sing.
- 6:16KARA: I did
- 6:18listen to Sutton Foster sing.
- 6:18DANI: Because they just
- 6:20play the original track.
- 6:20KARA: Yeah.
- 6:20DANI: But Deaf West
- 6:23has live singing and signing.
- 6:23KARA: Yeah, they do a
- 6:27double cast.
- 6:27DANI: Yeah, two actors playing the same
- 6:29role.
- 6:29KARA: Which I think the way my mom framed it
- 6:32to me was, do you want to see like a deaf production
- 6:35of a show?
- 6:35DANI: Yeah.
- 6:35KARA: So I just thought it was going
- 6:38to be people on stage signing and only signing.
- 6:41So I was like, no.
- 6:41DANI: Totally.
- 6:41KARA: Why would I want
- 6:44to do that? And then I think I, yeah, again,
- 6:46internalized ableism. I was like, no.
- 6:46DANI: Yeah, understood.
- 6:50KARA: Yeah. But I missed out unfortch.
- 6:50DANI: Well, we'll
- 6:53be seeing Elephant Shoes this summer so, should
- 6:56we get to the show?
- 6:56KARA: Let's do it. [CHEERFUL ACOUSTIC MUSIC].
- 6:56DANI: Did you go to
- 7:12your prom?
- 7:12KARA: Yeah, it was nice. I wore a dress
- 7:16that I found online that was $90. It was just
- 7:19a simple navy blue dress with some sequins on
- 7:22the top. And it was great. And I went with a couple
- 7:26friends. A bunch of friends, actually. None of
- 7:28us had dates. So I didn't really feel left out.
- 7:31Then after, we went to Southampton and spent
- 7:35the night there. And then what my school did
- 7:38was they had graduation the afternoon after prom.
- 7:41DANI: That's insane.
- 7:41KARA: But it's to encourage you not
- 7:44to do anything stupid the night of prom. So you
- 7:47don't drink and drive or go do anything crazy.
- 7:50So we went to the Hamptons and then immediately
- 7:54went back.
- 7:54DANI: Right.
- 7:54KARA: Got dressed and went to graduation.
- 7:57All exhausted. Some were hung over. And that
- 8:00was the end of high school for me.
- 8:00DANI: That's crazy
- 8:02that it's like the last night of high school
- 8:04is prom. Ours was super staggered. Like the last
- 8:07month, they like staggered out all the events.
- 8:10So I think prom was like a month before graduation.
- 8:13KARA: So did you have prom?
- 8:13DANI: We had a prom. I did not
- 8:16go.
- 8:16KARA: Oh, really?
- 8:16DANI: No.
- 8:16KARA: I was going to ask if you
- 8:19had a date.
- 8:19DANI: I would have had a date had I wanted
- 8:22one, but I ended up abstaining from going. I
- 8:25went and got my first tattoo that night.
- 8:25KARA: That's
- 8:28awesome.
- 8:28DANI: Instead. And it was so expensive. The
- 8:31thing is that they like rented a really expensive
- 8:33venue. And so then the ticket was like $200 or
- 8:36something. And so I just said to my parents,
- 8:39like, take that money that you were going to
- 8:42spend buying me the ticket and pay for my tattoo.
- 8:45And they said, yes. So then, yeah. Got my tattoo
- 8:48and then we got dinner. I didn't go to a normal
- 8:49enough high school where like the prom vibe was
- 8:53like that monumental. But then again, this episode,
- 8:56it's junior prom. It must be, right?
- 8:56KARA: Oh, that's
- 8:59so true. They have another year.
- 8:59DANI: Or it must just
- 9:02be, are they sophomores? No, they've got to be
- 9:04juniors.
- 9:04KARA: They've got to be juniors. They're 16.
- 9:07DANI: Yeah, they're 16. So they're sophomores or juniors,
- 9:10I guess, whatever.
- 9:10KARA: Yeah.
- 9:10DANI: It doesn't feel like-
- 9:13this prom could be any dance. Like, this could
- 9:17be, like, the spring formal.
- 9:17KARA: I don't know. They
- 9:19seem like a nice prom. It looks like they rented
- 9:21out a country club.
- 9:21DANI: That's true. It does. But
- 9:24no one's wearing prom-y dresses. Everyone's
- 9:27wearing, like, a mid-length dress. Everyone's
- 9:29wearing, like, spring formal or homecoming dresses.
- 9:31KARA: Right, because the dresses are short.
- 9:31DANI: I feel
- 9:33like prom, usually people go floor-length. I
- 9:35mean, I guess Daphne and Bay, fashionistas that
- 9:37they are. Maybe they're just pushing those boundaries.
- 9:41KARA: Yeah, we didn't see any other dresses, so we
- 9:43have no idea.
- 9:43DANI: No. So I think they're just like
- 9:47calling it prom.
- 9:47KARA: Interesting.
- 9:47DANI: Episode 22?
- 9:47KARA: Episode
- 9:5122. Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time, which aired
- 9:55March 20th, 2012. And this is the spring finale.
- 9:59And they're going to take a little break until
- 10:01the fall. And we are also going to take a little
- 10:04break, but not that long, just for a month.
- 10:04DANI: Just
- 10:06until the end of April.
- 10:06KARA: Yeah, just a little breaky
- 10:09break. This painting, Venus, Cupid, Folly, and
- 10:12Time, is by Agnolo Bronzino. And Venus and Cupid
- 10:17are kissing in the foreground while Folly is
- 10:20to the right. And he is about to throw rose petals
- 10:24on them. And then Father Time is looking from
- 10:26above. Pretty much every character in this episode
- 10:30is having some sort of romantic crossroads.
- 10:30DANI: Yeah.
- 10:34KARA: Bay and Emmett.
- 10:34DANI: Daphne and Wilke.
- 10:34KARA: Daphne and
- 10:36Wilke. John and Kathryn.
- 10:36DANI: Toby and Simone,
- 10:39even though we don't really see Simone.
- 10:39KARA: Yeah,
- 10:41that's true. And then Regina and Patrick slash
- 10:43Angelo.
- 10:43DANI: And Craig Tebbe's kind of in the mix
- 10:46there as well.
- 10:46KARA: Yeah, so there is some sort of
- 10:48romantic crossroads for pretty much every character
- 10:51in the show, as I'm sure.
- 10:51DANI: Fitting name.
- 10:51KARA: Yeah.
- 10:54The episode starts off. Bay approaches Emmett
- 10:57in his bedroom. The way this was shot.
- 10:57DANI: It was
- 10:59shot so weird.
- 10:59KARA: It was like a handheld camera.
- 11:02DANI: Yeah, it was a shaky cam.
- 11:02KARA: It's so strange.
- 11:02DANI: It
- 11:05was like almost horror movie. Like I expected
- 11:08him to turn around and be a zombie again. And
- 11:10for this to be like a dream.
- 11:10KARA: Yeah.
- 11:10DANI: That Bay was
- 11:13having.
- 11:13KARA: And he goes, I have something I need
- 11:15to tell you. And we are all thinking he's going
- 11:18to tell her he cheated on her.
- 11:18DANI: Right. I'm like,
- 11:21damn, they're really getting to this fast after
- 11:22leaving us hanging the last episode.
- 11:22KARA: But instead,
- 11:25he goes down on one knee. And I'm like, and my
- 11:29first thought was, oh, is he trying to make up
- 11:31for what he did by proposing?
- 11:31DANI: He's totally Summer
- 11:35I Turned Pretty-ing her.
- 11:35KARA: But then he presents
- 11:37what he has in the box. And it's earplugs. And
- 11:40he goes, will you go to prom with me? Carlton
- 11:42proms are really loud.
- 11:42DANI: So cute.
- 11:42KARA: He's being perfect
- 11:45boyfriend until later.
- 11:45DANI: I hate it. It makes me
- 11:48so mad. He had this ability the whole time and
- 11:51he's only doing it when he's guilty.
- 11:51KARA: He could
- 11:53have been doing this. But yeah, he's doing this
- 11:55because he feels guilty. And Bay, and all of
- 11:58us, are relieved that he's not actually proposing.
- 12:00She says yes, and then they kiss. Regina and
- 12:03Patrick are on some random bench in a park, hugging.
- 12:06DANI: When they appeared together, I was like, I actually
- 12:09cannot believe this is still happening. I know
- 12:11nothing happened in the last episode to kill
- 12:14this relationship off. I just feel like it should
- 12:16have died by now.
- 12:16KARA: Well, it's going to die, I
- 12:18think, after this episode.
- 12:18DANI: After Angelo smashes
- 12:21it with a hammer.
- 12:21KARA: Yeah. She tells Patrick, By
- 12:23the way, Saturday's Daphne's prom. Do you want
- 12:26to have a sex date? Basically, she was like,
- 12:28Daphne's going to be out really late. My mom's
- 12:31going to be out. She sounds like a teenager.
- 12:32DANI: We know that Regina is interested in having a
- 12:35very healthy sex life, and yet she's kind of
- 12:38cock-blocked at every angle. So I understand.
- 12:42KARA: Yeah, that's true.
- 12:42DANI: And Patrick's not a bad-looking
- 12:44guy.
- 12:44KARA: No.
- 12:44DANI: I'm just, like, bored by him.
- 12:44KARA: We just
- 12:47don't know anything about him.
- 12:47DANI: No, he's not important.
- 12:50Daphne is doing, you know, that bit that John
- 12:54Mulaney bit where he's like, y'all ever try
- 12:55to write happy birthday on a sign and you start
- 12:58out big ass H and then you realize you're running
- 13:01out of the room and then you forget and you start
- 13:03for birthday and you just go big ass B. That
- 13:06was her. So she is making a banner, a promposal
- 13:12banner for Wilke and...
- 13:12KARA: It's huge.
- 13:12DANI: It's huge
- 13:16and ugly and she's like drawn them in paint in
- 13:20the corner and they look terrifying they look
- 13:24like drawings I would turn into a child psychologist
- 13:26and she looks pathetic in the driveway. It's sweet.
- 13:30I felt for her, but I was also like girl, you gotta
- 13:33get it together.
- 13:33KARA: She's trying to write will you
- 13:36go to prom with me, but she wrote big ass w's.
- 13:39DANI: Yeah.
- 13:39KARA: And...
- 13:39DANI: She's sweet.
- 13:39KARA: There's, will you go to
- 13:43prom? Hypothetically.
- 13:43DANI: Prom, will you go?
- 13:43KARA: Prom,
- 13:46will you?
- 13:46DANI: Will you?
- 13:46KARA: Go? Prom, go, will you?
- 13:46DANI: Maybe.
- 13:50KARA: And yeah, the drawings are scary. Bay approaches
- 13:53and she goes, what are these gingerbread smurf people?
- 13:55DANI: Bay's like, aw. And Daphne's like, I'm nervous
- 13:58to ask him because I know deaf prom isn't really
- 14:00Wilke's type of thing. Girl, get a- Talk about
- 14:05internalized ableism. Daphne.
- 14:05KARA: Deaf prom sounds
- 14:08awesome.
- 14:08DANI: Not only that, but, like, don't be embarrassed.
- 14:12You should not be embarrassed on your boyfriend's,
- 14:15like, behalf. Well, I guess you should be embarrassed
- 14:17of Wilke not being able to sign. But that is
- 14:19not her fear. She's worried Wilke is going to
- 14:21be like, this is stupid.
- 14:21KARA: Yeah. Which he might.
- 14:25DANI: He wouldn't, though, is the thing.
- 14:25KARA: Yeah.
- 14:25DANI: I know
- 14:27the signing stuff, like, he just is incapable
- 14:31of, like, trying or making an effort in that
- 14:33way. But he's not, like, fuck deaf people. Like,
- 14:37he's not mean.
- 14:37KARA: You're right. He's not intentionally
- 14:41cruel.
- 14:41DANI: No. Yeah, it's more like a carelessness.
- 14:44KARA: Yeah. But Daphne does ask for help with the banner.
- 14:47Thank God. And Bay's like, yes, I got you. So
- 14:50this is sweet, they're having this sisterly moment
- 14:51this whole episode.
- 14:51DANI: Yeah, loving their sister
- 14:53vibes.
- 14:53KARA: Yeah.
- 14:53DANI: I don't like what they end up coming
- 14:57up with either, though.
- 14:57KARA: Well, Bay doesn't do
- 14:59any art.
- 14:59DANI: No, she makes the shitty poster.
- 14:59KARA: Al
- 15:03right, we'll get to it. Kathryn is wearing
- 15:05a really sexy red dress.
- 15:05DANI: She looks so hot.
- 15:05KARA: Yeah,
- 15:09we're in the Kennish house, and I guess she's
- 15:12trying on the dress because she and John are
- 15:14going to chaperone prom. But there's still some
- 15:16tension between her and John.
- 15:16DANI: There's a lot of
- 15:19tension.
- 15:19KARA: Yeah.
- 15:19DANI: I don't know how John can still
- 15:21be so cold to her. She looks so good.
- 15:21KARA: She looks
- 15:24so hot.
- 15:24DANI: But he's, yeah, he's kind of mean.
- 15:24KARA: Yeah.
- 15:27DANI: We ended with her being mad at him.
- 15:27KARA: But he's
- 15:31mad at her again. But she's like, you told Sara Lazar
- 15:34about the miscarriage. Why are you mad at me?
- 15:36DANI: He's still mad about the Britia thing.
- 15:36KARA: Yeah.
- 15:38Anyways, they're mad at each other. Craig Tebbe
- 15:41arrives. And he's like, so the private investigator
- 15:44went through Angelo's stuff in the storage unit.
- 15:47And there's a lactation consultant that Angelo
- 15:51had contact with, but she was never deposed.
- 15:53So I think we should go see her.
- 15:53DANI: But first he
- 15:56says, Kathryn, you look smoking. You look like
- 15:58a smoke show.
- 15:58KARA: He says what we're all thinking.
- 16:00DANI: Thank God.
- 16:00KARA: But I think the three of us going
- 16:03together, you, John specifically, will be too
- 16:05scary. So I think it should just be Kathryn
- 16:08and I. And John's like, fine, whatever, go.
- 16:08DANI: Leave
- 16:11your checkbook here and please try to return
- 16:13in the car that you came in.
- 16:13KARA: That's kind of funny.
- 16:15DANI: Which Kathryn does not. Not because she's selfish,
- 16:18but technically she does not.
- 16:18KARA: What do you mean, they left
- 16:20together? Oh, right, but then Toby has to pick
- 16:23her up.
- 16:23DANI: Yeah, Toby has to pick her up later.
- 16:24So she is coming back in a different car.
- 16:24KARA: Messed
- 16:28up. Bay is now helping Daphne with the new poster
- 16:31for Wilke. In the prior scene, they were saying,
- 16:34like, our high school always does something different
- 16:36for promposals. And, like, we always do a little
- 16:38twist. That's every school. They're not different.
- 16:41DANI: I actually feel like my school did not do twists.
- 16:44KARA: Yeah, mine didn't either. It was always a poster
- 16:47that's, like, will you go to prom with me.
- 16:47DANI: Yeah, it was,
- 16:49like, the classic, like, flowers, chocolate,
- 16:53like, some Valentine's Day type shit.
- 16:53KARA: Yeah, flower
- 16:56and a poster.
- 16:56DANI: Yeah.
- 16:56KARA: Whatever. Bay's helping Daphne
- 16:59with a poster for Wilke. And Regina's like,
- 17:02but what about my idea?
- 17:02DANI: Your idea sucked. Which
- 17:06is so funny because Regina's also an artist.
- 17:08Like, do you think it was her mom blindness that
- 17:10she's like, Daphne can do that by herself. Not
- 17:13realizing that Daphne is really not good. Like,
- 17:15she has no artistic talent.
- 17:15KARA: But she did a cute
- 17:17poster for Carlton way back when with the hands
- 17:21fingerspelling Carlton.
- 17:21DANI: Yeah, that was cute.
- 17:23KARA: Maybe her talents have regressed. I don't know.
- 17:26DANI: I feel like maybe part of it is like... Her and
- 17:29Wilke just aren't a good match. Like, she can't
- 17:31think of an idea for him on her own.
- 17:31KARA: So she has
- 17:35to draw Smurf people.
- 17:35DANI: Exactly.
- 17:35KARA: But Bay's like,
- 17:38Regina, why don't you do my hair for prom? And
- 17:40Regina's like, would love to. Your hair is gorgeous.
- 17:42Can't wait to get my hands on it.
- 17:42DANI: Yeah, she says,
- 17:44I've been dying to get my hands on your hair
- 17:47for a long time. And then she pauses and looks
- 17:50at her and goes, a long time.
- 17:50KARA: Okay, whatever.
- 17:53You could have made that happen sooner.
- 17:53DANI: Much
- 17:55sooner.
- 17:55KARA: Whatever. Regina's on the other side
- 17:57of the room. Her phone rings and it's from a
- 17:59block number. Yeah. And Bay's like, oh, can I
- 18:02answer it? Regina's like, yeah, go ahead. Bay
- 18:03answers it. Silence. She's stunned. And then
- 18:07she goes, it's for you. Regina goes, who is it?
- 18:10It's Angelo.
- 18:10DANI: You're right. I do feel like she's
- 18:12being daft.
- 18:12KARA: Guys, it's Angelo. Like, it's so
- 18:15obvious to me it's Angelo.
- 18:15DANI: Yeah, and Bay's face
- 18:18falls so hard when he's like, let me speak to
- 18:21Regina.
- 18:21KARA: We don't know what he says.
- 18:21DANI: No, we don't
- 18:23get to hear it.
- 18:23KARA: Considering how short the conversation
- 18:25was, it seems like he immediately wants to talk
- 18:28to Regina.
- 18:28DANI: Yeah.
- 18:28KARA: Cut to next scene immediately.
- 18:31Regina is at the detention facility where Angelo's
- 18:34being held.
- 18:34DANI: He has no business looking that sexy
- 18:38inside of a DHS facility. He's got a beard to
- 18:42show that time has passed. He looks so fine.
- 18:46KARA: He does.
- 18:46DANI: It's distracting.
- 18:46KARA: The stubble looks
- 18:49really good.
- 18:49DANI: Regina's not distracted, though.
- 18:52KARA: No, she's pissed.
- 18:52DANI: She's mad at him.
- 18:52KARA: She's like,
- 18:55where the fuck have you been? And he goes, well,
- 18:57I just went back to Italy to clear things up.
- 18:59That's crazy.
- 18:59DANI: That is crazy. He could have left
- 19:02a note.
- 19:02KARA: And that's what she says.
- 19:02DANI: Or send a text.
- 19:05KARA: Anything.
- 19:05DANI: Anything.
- 19:05KARA: And then he's like, but on
- 19:07my way back, I got detained. They keep treating
- 19:10me like I'm a criminal.
- 19:10DANI: Yeah, king, you are.
- 19:12KARA: This was crazy to watch. It's so timely considering
- 19:15everything that's going on with ICE. And the
- 19:17big words in the show say ICE and Department
- 19:20of Homeland Security. It was just too, it was
- 19:23too much. But Angelo's like, yeah, I guess I'm
- 19:26a criminal. Anyway, I need an immigration lawyer
- 19:29here. I have one in Italy, but not in the US.
- 19:31Can you get me one? And Regina's like, fine.
- 19:34But you and I, we're done. That's not true, guys.
- 19:37DANI: No, and he also doesn't believe that. And he
- 19:39says, come on. But then he says, everything I'm
- 19:42doing is so we can get back together. What about
- 19:46your daughter?
- 19:46KARA: Literally, what I wrote down.
- 19:49DANI: He's so sexy. But his character sucks so bad.
- 19:53KARA: He sucks.
- 19:53DANI: And, like, as much as I'm not on Regina's
- 19:56side, like, I am pro her being like, this is
- 19:59not about us. It shouldn't be.
- 19:59KARA: No.
- 19:59DANI: Whatever.
- 20:03KARA: I guess it's the next morning. But next scene,
- 20:06Regina's home. This DHS facility must be right
- 20:08in town because they are zipping back and forth
- 20:11from the detention facility like it's five minutes
- 20:13away.
- 20:13DANI: Regina's inside the Kennish house. And
- 20:16her and Kathryn are talking about their favorite
- 20:18subject, their daughter's sex lives.
- 20:18KARA: They said,
- 20:20oh, are our girls going to have sex after prom? And
- 20:23Kathryn says, well, I got Toby a box of condoms
- 20:26for after prom and I told him to be responsible.
- 20:28DANI: They're being so weird.
- 20:28KARA: They're being so weird.
- 20:30I would just talk to your daughters. It's promposal
- 20:33time.
- 20:33DANI: Oh, God.
- 20:33KARA: This is the cringiest thing I've
- 20:36ever seen. We're at Buckner. There's wanted posters
- 20:39for Wilke. For James Wilke Wilkerson III.
- 20:39DANI: It's
- 20:43like the worst Photoshop job you've ever seen.
- 20:45There's just like a photo of him playing guitar,
- 20:48cut out, like not cropped well. And then another
- 20:51photo of him closer up. And then just like a
- 20:54big like if seen call, presumably, Daphne?
- 20:58I don't even know.
- 20:58KARA: When the scene started, I
- 21:01was like, oh god, I remember what happens. And
- 21:03I, like, had to look away for a second.
- 21:03DANI: I know,
- 21:05it's really hard to watch. He's, like, looking
- 21:08around at these posters. People are looking at
- 21:10him. He's like, what the hell? Daphne comes up
- 21:13behind him, slams him up against the wall, puts
- 21:16his arms behind his back, and handcuffs him.
- 21:19KARA: Kinky.
- 21:19DANI: Yeah. And starts reading him his rights
- 21:23to her promposal.
- 21:23KARA: Fake rights.
- 21:23DANI: Yeah. You have
- 21:26the right to go to prom with me.
- 21:26KARA: It was like you
- 21:29had the right to remain silent. Anything you-
- 21:29DANI: Sign
- 21:33can and will be used against you because I'm
- 21:36taking you to the Carlton prom.
- 21:36KARA: It's this Saturday.
- 21:38Will you go with me?
- 21:38DANI: Also she's like laughing
- 21:41at herself as she's doing it like, she can't even
- 21:43commit.
- 21:43KARA: Also it's this Saturday. You should give
- 21:46more of a heads up.
- 21:46DANI: I agree.
- 21:46KARA: When you do promposals,
- 21:49I think people used to do them like a month in
- 21:50advance.
- 21:50DANI: Yeah, that's what I'm saying is I'm
- 21:52like, this is not a prom. This is like a homecoming.
- 21:54They're just calling it prom.
- 21:54KARA: Yeah, whatever.
- 21:57The whole school is watching this happen also.
- 22:00And Wilke rejects her in front of everyone and
- 22:03goes I can't. I have a paper due Monday. I
- 22:07can't.
- 22:07DANI: And she is like, what the fuck? You never
- 22:10care about school. And he's like, no, I like
- 22:12really have to do this one.
- 22:12KARA: My dad's on my ass.
- 22:15I felt like he was lying because he got the ick.
- 22:18DANI: Honestly, I would have gotten it. I kind of got
- 22:20the ick too, Daphne.
- 22:20KARA: He was like, you just embarrassed
- 22:22me in front of the whole school.
- 22:22DANI: I'm not doing
- 22:24that. So weird. Also, I think it's weird to prom-
- 22:28pose someone at their school to go to your school's
- 22:31prom.
- 22:31KARA: True.
- 22:31DANI: Like, Buckner's not having a prom.
- 22:34That's also what I mean. Like, Buckner's not
- 22:36having a prom at the same time.
- 22:36KARA: Yeah, they are.
- 22:38Toby's with Simone are his.
- 22:38DANI: No, he's... Is
- 22:40he?
- 22:40KARA: Yeah, because Kathryn got condoms for him.
- 22:43DANI: No, she's talking about, like, his junior prom
- 22:44last year. She says, like, last year...
- 22:44KARA: But he's
- 22:46a junior now.
- 22:46DANI: No, he's a senior. If he's- first
- 22:50of all, if he's a junior, then the girls are
- 22:51sophomores.
- 22:51KARA: Okay, you're right. So he's a senior.
- 22:54DANI: I think they're just calling prom, they're
- 22:55just using prom as a term for dance.
- 22:55KARA: Okay.
- 22:55DANI: Because
- 22:59they're saying, Kathryn's saying, like
- 23:00when it was Toby's prom, I got him a box of condoms
- 23:04and they got hotel rooms.
- 23:04KARA: Okay.
- 23:04DANI: They're not having
- 23:07their own prom. Buckner is not having a prom.
- 23:09KARA: Or at least not this week.
- 23:09DANI: Yeah. So.
- 23:09KARA: We don't
- 23:13care about Toby's prom. Next scene, we're at
- 23:16Bay's art studio, I guess. And Kathryn runs
- 23:19up to Bay and Daphne and goes, hi, prom. And
- 23:22she has gifts.
- 23:22DANI: I like her enthusiasm.
- 23:22KARA: She's so
- 23:25excited about everything. I love her.
- 23:25DANI: But I will
- 23:28say. Her excitement level then, I was like, to
- 23:32convince me that she is not staging some sort
- 23:35of photo shoot for said prom is, again, confusing
- 23:38and leads me to believe this is just a random
- 23:41dance.
- 23:41KARA: Yeah, maybe.
- 23:41DANI: There is no way Kathryn
- 23:43Kennish would not have a professional photographer
- 23:45and a staged backdrop for them to take beautiful
- 23:48prom photos together.
- 23:48KARA: Or like a pre-party.
- 23:48DANI: Exactly.
- 23:51Exactly. And instead, she's literally not even
- 23:54there. She's giving them the gifts now and then
- 23:56tells them, take lots of pictures.
- 23:56KARA: She gives
- 23:59Bay a brooch?
- 23:59DANI: I honestly was not. I think it's
- 24:02a hair clip.
- 24:02KARA: But the hair clip she wears later
- 24:05is different.
- 24:05DANI: Then I have no idea what it is.
- 24:07Maybe it's like a bracelet.
- 24:07KARA: It's not clear.
- 24:07DANI: I
- 24:09don't see a brooch on her.
- 24:09KARA: Me neither. I was
- 24:11like, I don't think Bay even wears it later.
- 24:13So bad continuity, guys. And then a purse for
- 24:16Daphne. Like a shiny, glimmery purse.
- 24:16DANI: Yeah, she
- 24:21calls it the magic purse.
- 24:21KARA: Yeah.
- 24:21DANI: Because it goes
- 24:23with everything except the awful outfit that
- 24:25Daphne ends up wearing.
- 24:25KARA: We will get to that.
- 24:27And then Kathryn leaves and Daphne's like,
- 24:29Bay, this sucks. I don't even want to go to prom
- 24:32because Wilke has a paper due. And Bay's like,
- 24:34Wilke? Paper?
- 24:34DANI: That guy? Okay.
- 24:34KARA: And then she rightfully
- 24:39says, like, you don't need a date. Just go with friends
- 24:41or come with me and Emmett and other people.
- 24:44DANI: I think, honestly, Daphne this far. Like if Emmett
- 24:48wasn't dating Bay, she would have just taken
- 24:51him if Wilke was busy. So she like hasn't thought
- 24:54of what to do next.
- 24:54KARA: Daphne goes to the car wash.
- 24:58And Travis is back.
- 24:58DANI: So Daphne decides, I don't
- 25:02need Emmett. I have Travis now. And she goes
- 25:05to the car wash and she says, you going to prom?
- 25:08KARA: And he goes, no.
- 25:08DANI: He also says, it's bad enough
- 25:11that I have to go to school with those people.
- 25:13I don't want to like watch them get dressed up.
- 25:15Is he talking about all of Carlton?
- 25:15KARA: Yeah, I think
- 25:18so.
- 25:18DANI: Why is he like that?
- 25:18KARA: Because he can't get
- 25:20along with anyone.
- 25:20DANI: But then it takes her like
- 25:22two seconds of convincing. And he's like, maybe
- 25:25I'll go.
- 25:25KARA: Yeah.
- 25:25DANI: He wants to make Daphne happy.
- 25:28He's a sweetheart deep down.
- 25:28KARA: He is. Craig and
- 25:31Kathryn are at the lactation consultant's house.
- 25:35Her name is Colleen Vandernoot.
- 25:35DANI: Yeah, this Vandernoot
- 25:38lady is weird.
- 25:38KARA: I like that the house is beautiful
- 25:41and it's like a sweet grandma house. They have
- 25:44like sugar cookies and sweet tea.
- 25:44DANI: And it's kind
- 25:48of like in the middle of nowhere.
- 25:48KARA: Yeah, like
- 25:50surrounded by mountains. There's hanging plants
- 25:52and this nice white ranch style house. Colleen
- 25:56Vandernoot is played by Dee Wallace, who played
- 25:58the mom in E.T. And she's been in a bunch of
- 25:59horror movies. But she's a wealth of information
- 26:02at first. She was like in the hospital the nurses
- 26:04were overworked. They were still transitioning
- 26:06to the computer system. So we were writing everything.
- 26:09by pen. The name tags would get smashed. It
- 26:12was a mess.
- 26:12DANI: And they're like, amazing. This is
- 26:14great information. And she says, I'm happy to
- 26:17testify. Anything you need. And they're like,
- 26:19awesome. Keep going. And she's like, and once
- 26:22they got the computer started, they started implanting
- 26:24those babies with barcodes. And they go, excuse
- 26:27me?
- 26:27KARA: In preparation for the coming of the Antichrist.
- 26:31And they're like, thank you. We're going to go
- 26:33now. Regina is doing Bay's hair for prom. She's
- 26:38up in curls and Bay's nervous and she's like
- 26:41this is my first deaf event, this is scary. I get
- 26:44it.
- 26:44DANI: Yeah.
- 26:44KARA: I can't, I was trying to think what was
- 26:46my first deaf event I've been to. I can't remember.
- 26:49I think actually it was a holiday party for the
- 26:53Sign Language Center. That was my first big deaf
- 26:56event. I was nervous so I get it, Bay. And Bay asked
- 26:59Regina, did Angelo ask about me? The answer is
- 27:02no.
- 27:02DANI: Regina lies. She says yes.
- 27:02KARA: Right thing to
- 27:05do. And also, is he going to stay? And does he
- 27:08know we want him here? And Regina's like, I think
- 27:11he knows what to realistically expect. And Bay's
- 27:14like, so he doesn't know. Oof.
- 27:14DANI: Oof. Also, I know
- 27:18Bay's hair isn't finished, but when it was up
- 27:20in those curlers, it's really giving in the Princess
- 27:22Diaries when they're giving her a makeover and
- 27:25they turn her around and it is done and she looks
- 27:28like a moose. And she's like, I look like a moose.
- 27:31And he goes, yeah, a pretty moose.
- 27:31KARA: I haven't
- 27:33seen Princess Diaries since I was 12.
- 27:33DANI: It really
- 27:36holds up. Bay's hair turns out fine.
- 27:36KARA: It's cute.
- 27:39It looks the same.
- 27:39DANI: Yeah.
- 27:39KARA: It's like her same beautiful
- 27:42curls.
- 27:42DANI: She just has like a deeper side part than
- 27:45normal.
- 27:45KARA: With a clip in.
- 27:45DANI: Yeah.
- 27:45KARA: That is not the
- 27:48one Kathryn gave her.
- 27:48DANI: No, it is not.
- 27:48KARA: Daphne
- 27:50goes to Wilke's house with lemon bars. And Wilke's
- 27:54dad answers the door. And he's like, oh, hi,
- 27:57you must be Daphne. Invites her inside. And he's
- 27:59like, you are a lovely person. Why do you like
- 28:02my son?
- 28:02DANI: He's so mean.
- 28:02KARA: And Daphne's like because
- 28:06he's funny and cute and smart. And he's like,
- 28:10are you talking about my son?
- 28:10DANI: Also, this actor,
- 28:13I don't know his name, but he is also in Psych.
- 28:16He plays Sean's dad in Psych.
- 28:16KARA: Oh, fun.
- 28:16DANI: Yeah.
- 28:18KARA: He's been in a lot of soap operas. I looked him
- 28:21up briefly.
- 28:21DANI: Oh, interesting. I think he's a really
- 28:23good actor.
- 28:23KARA: Sure.
- 28:23DANI: So that surprises me. No shade
- 28:26to soap operas. But like, come on, let's be real.
- 28:28KARA: Sure. And he's like, sorry, Daphne, Wilke's
- 28:31not here. He snuck off again. Probably one last
- 28:33act of rebellion. Before he leaves. And Daphne's
- 28:36like, leaves?
- 28:36DANI: He's shipping him off to boarding
- 28:38school.
- 28:38KARA: This is going to be the end of Wilke.
- 28:41DANI: I know, I'm sad.
- 28:41KARA: Because Austin Butler got cast
- 28:44in The Carrie Diaries, which is why he leaves
- 28:47the show.
- 28:47DANI: Such a good show.
- 28:47KARA: I've heard great
- 28:49things.
- 28:49DANI: It's so good. It has nothing to do with
- 28:52sex in the city. They threw out Carrie's entire
- 28:54plot line. He's so sexy in that show, too.
- 28:54KARA: Okay,
- 28:58great.
- 28:58DANI: Gorgeous. Amazing. I really recommend
- 29:00it. That show also canceled too soon.
- 29:00KARA: Yeah, only
- 29:03two seasons.
- 29:03DANI: It does come to an end. Like, it's
- 29:07not like it, like, when it ends, you're like,
- 29:09oh, this is the ending. But it feels like it
- 29:12should have been more. But I think they're lengthy
- 29:13seasons, much like Switched at Birth. Like, they're,
- 29:16like, 20-episode seasons. So it's about the
- 29:20equivalent of, like, a four-season show today.
- 29:22KARA: The good old days.
- 29:22DANI: I know. God, I miss them.
- 29:25KARA: Well, Austin Butler's cast as the male lead in
- 29:27Carrie Diaries, so this is the last we see of
- 29:30him on Switched at Birth.
- 29:30DANI: I'm so sad that he's
- 29:32leaving.
- 29:32KARA: Yeah. And Daphne's sad too. Daphne is.
- 29:36DANI: And it's fucked up that he didn't tell her.
- 29:36KARA: Yeah.
- 29:37DANI: But also maybe not. I don't know. Is he her boyfriend?
- 29:40We don't even know.
- 29:40KARA: They've been together long
- 29:42enough.
- 29:42DANI: Wait, that's so, if he, he's being shipped
- 29:45off to boarding school, like.
- 29:45KARA: I guess in the
- 29:46fall.
- 29:46DANI: No, like right now.
- 29:46KARA: Oh, right. He said
- 29:49this.
- 29:49DANI: Yeah.
- 29:49KARA: But it's prom. Prom is what, June?
- 29:52DANI: That's, this is my point. There's no way that
- 29:55this is prom. They're just using the word prom.
- 29:58KARA: Is it? Let's say it's March. Cause the show.
- 30:00DANI: Yeah.
- 30:00KARA: The show aired in March. And they're just
- 30:03doing the junior banquet.
- 30:03DANI: This is like the winter
- 30:04finale.
- 30:04KARA: Like a spring banquet.
- 30:04DANI: Yeah.
- 30:04KARA: I remember
- 30:07I had a junior banquet. We didn't call it a junior
- 30:10prom. We called it a junior banquet. And that
- 30:11was like in April.
- 30:11DANI: Okay.
- 30:11KARA: So maybe he's just
- 30:14finishing out the rest of the year at boarding
- 30:16school. That's so strange.
- 30:16DANI: It does seem like
- 30:19they could stay together because wouldn't he
- 30:20come home for the summer?
- 30:20KARA: Right.
- 30:20DANI: Is it a year
- 30:23-round boarding school? I feel like they could
- 30:24probably do two months of distance and then whatever.
- 30:27KARA: It doesn't matter because they're kicking him
- 30:28out.
- 30:28DANI: Right. They were like, we got to get him
- 30:30out of here. They should have just said military
- 30:32school because that's year-round, I think.
- 30:32KARA: Or,
- 30:35like, to his mom's house. Maybe mom doesn't live
- 30:37at home or something. I don't know.
- 30:37DANI: Isn't he
- 30:39going to get away with more shit at boarding
- 30:41school? His dad was just like, I don't want to
- 30:43deal with him anymore.
- 30:43KARA: Yeah, but what? The school
- 30:46is not going to, like, force him to force a pen
- 30:48in his hand and make him write a paper.
- 30:48DANI: Right.
- 30:51And I feel like boarding school, no one's going
- 30:53to be watching what he does after hours.
- 30:53KARA: Not
- 30:56at all.
- 30:56DANI: Wilke's going to clean up at boarding
- 30:58school. Think of the gambling he's going to be
- 31:00able to do with those other rich boarding school
- 31:02kids.
- 31:02KARA: He's going to have a great time, honestly.
- 31:04DANI: I know. This is really bad for his addiction.
- 31:06KARA: It is. Craig and Kathryn left Colleen Vandernoot's
- 31:09house, but he has a flat tire. And AAA is taking
- 31:13forever.
- 31:13DANI: Yeah.
- 31:13KARA: So they're stuck on the side of
- 31:16the road.
- 31:16DANI: They're stranded.
- 31:16KARA: That's it for now.
- 31:18Now Emmett arrives at the Kennish property to
- 31:21pick up Bay, and he has his brand new motorcycle.
- 31:24DANI: That was fast.
- 31:24KARA: He's really good at building things,
- 31:27I guess. Bay looks cute.
- 31:27DANI: Yeah.
- 31:27KARA: The dress is cute.
- 31:30DANI: It's, like, fine.
- 31:30KARA: I'm sad Kathryn's missing
- 31:32this. But now that I know it's not a real prom,
- 31:34I'm less sad.
- 31:34DANI: Also, she's going to be there.
- 31:37KARA: That's true. He gifts Bay a helmet with her name
- 31:40on it.
- 31:40DANI: Yeah.
- 31:40KARA: And she says, thank you.
- 31:40DANI: She acts
- 31:43like it's a really big deal. It does just sort
- 31:45of look like a sticker.
- 31:45KARA: It's a sticker.
- 31:45DANI: So. But,
- 31:49okay. Cute.
- 31:49KARA: Yeah. But Bay has Angelo on her mind.
- 31:53DANI: Yeah.
- 31:53KARA: And she is very worried about him leaving.
- 31:56And she's like, what if we took a detour? And
- 31:59Emmett's like, yeah, let's go see him.
- 31:59DANI: Because
- 32:01he's being a great boyfriend because he's guilty.
- 32:04KARA: Yeah. And apparently the DHS facility is five
- 32:08minutes away.
- 32:08DANI: Just down the road.
- 32:08KARA: Around the
- 32:10corner. I feel like this is past visiting hours.
- 32:13DANI: You would think. I also feel like wouldn't she
- 32:16need to be on an approved list already?
- 32:16KARA: I've
- 32:19looked up how easy is it to visit someone?
- 32:19DANI: Maybe
- 32:23because he's in a holding facility and not like...
- 32:26KARA: But he's detained.
- 32:26DANI: It seems like a casual...
- 32:29It seems like a way station between...
- 32:29KARA: They don't
- 32:31explain this though.
- 32:31DANI: No, I'm just filling it
- 32:34in.
- 32:34KARA: It happened off screen. But they arrive at
- 32:36the detention center that is five minutes away
- 32:38and Bay sees someone getting shoved into an ICE
- 32:41van. Again, this is horrifying to watch considering
- 32:44the time we live in. They arrive at the detention
- 32:46center and she sees Angelo. I guess security
- 32:49was like, here's your father.
- 32:49DANI: Yeah, they were
- 32:52like, oh, of course, right this way.
- 32:52KARA: Yeah. And
- 32:54Bay's like, so what the fuck happened? Where
- 32:57have you been all these weeks? And he goes, well,
- 33:00I just want to clear everything up in Italy.
- 33:02And she rightfully asked- this is the same conversation
- 33:05with Regina. Like, why didn't you call or text
- 33:07or leave a note or anything?
- 33:07DANI: Yeah.
- 33:07KARA: And he goes,
- 33:11well, I'm sure your family is bad mouthing
- 33:14me.
- 33:14DANI: Yeah, he's being so weird. He's like, well,
- 33:16I didn't want your parents talking more shit
- 33:19about me than they already are. She's like, they
- 33:20literally aren't. He's like, I bet they were
- 33:22going to call ICE on me. She's like, they were
- 33:25actually going to help you, but.
- 33:25KARA: And yeah, they
- 33:27actually were going to help you. Also, if you
- 33:29need anything, let me know. And he goes, no,
- 33:32no. And Bay's like, no, what's up? What do you
- 33:35need? He goes, I really want to call my immigration
- 33:37lawyer in Italy, but it costs money.
- 33:37DANI: He's such a male
- 33:41manipulator.
- 33:41KARA: And Bay goes, I have like $40.
- 33:41DANI: And
- 33:44we don't see him say yes, but clearly he takes
- 33:47it.
- 33:47KARA: Like all the $40, I think.
- 33:47DANI: Yeah, because
- 33:50she's feeling weird when she gets to prom.
- 33:50KARA: Ugh,
- 33:52God.
- 33:52DANI: Okay, and then back at the Kennish house,
- 33:55Daphne's getting ready.
- 33:55KARA: Yes.
- 33:55DANI: And I guess she
- 33:58thinks she's going by herself. Like, she's getting
- 34:01ready to go by herself. Her hair also not done
- 34:05yet, but looks crazy. And then she comes downstairs
- 34:08and she gets a text from a blocked number that
- 34:12says, come downstairs.
- 34:12KARA: I thought this was Angelo
- 34:14for a second.
- 34:14DANI: Really?
- 34:14KARA: It's just a blocked number.
- 34:17DANI: Because of the blocked number.
- 34:17KARA: I was like, how
- 34:18did he get out?
- 34:18DANI: Like, obviously we're meant to
- 34:20think it's Wilke, but then she goes downstairs
- 34:22and it's Travis.
- 34:22KARA: Yeah, he's wearing a little
- 34:25tuxedo t-shirt.
- 34:25DANI: Yeah, it's cute. And he has
- 34:28like a corsage for her.
- 34:28KARA: But it's like a plastic
- 34:31toy.
- 34:31DANI: Yeah, but that's sweet, whatever. And he's
- 34:34like, so I heard a group of us were going to
- 34:37prom. And then he's like can you drive? Because
- 34:40it took me, like, an hour to get here on the
- 34:42bus.
- 34:42KARA: He traveled an hour.
- 34:42DANI: On the bus! He says,
- 34:46my dad's having his poker night anyway, so I
- 34:48figured I'd keep you company. Which just, like,
- 34:50alludes to, like, how sad Travis's home life
- 34:53is.
- 34:53KARA: I get it.
- 34:53DANI: It really tugged at my heartstrings.
- 34:56KARA: He said, I'd rather be a Carlton with all these
- 34:59insufferable people.
- 34:59DANI: Yeah.
- 34:59KARA: Rather than with my
- 35:02insufferable father.
- 35:02DANI: Yeah. And she's like, of
- 35:05course, like, I'll drive. Come upstairs. And
- 35:07she leads him up. And then she sees a limo pulling
- 35:10in and Wilke gets out.
- 35:10KARA: Fully dressed in a real
- 35:14tuxedo.
- 35:14DANI: Yeah.
- 35:14KARA: Like a bouquet of flowers.
- 35:14DANI: Yeah.
- 35:17Big romantic gesture.
- 35:17KARA: I would be furious.
- 35:17DANI: And
- 35:21she kind of is.
- 35:21KARA: Yeah. She's like, what's going
- 35:24on? He goes, well, I wanted to surprise you,
- 35:27obviously.
- 35:27DANI: She's like, you haven't been texting
- 35:29me back. He's like, my phone was off while I
- 35:31was planning this surprise, obviously.
- 35:31KARA: And Travis
- 35:35comes back down. He's like, oh, shit, it's Wilke.
- 35:37And Wilke goes, thanks Travis, for keeping
- 35:39her company, but I'll take it from here.
- 35:39DANI: And
- 35:42Daphne's like, no, he's coming in the limo with
- 35:44us, obviously. Like, fuck you.
- 35:44KARA: Thank God. I was
- 35:46afraid Daphne was going to kick him out.
- 35:46DANI: No,
- 35:49she wouldn't have.
- 35:49KARA: I was really scared.
- 35:49DANI: She wouldn't
- 35:52have. She's not that bad.
- 35:52KARA: She's not that bad.
- 35:54I noticed the way they sign limo. Usually the
- 35:56regular sign for limo is you would just like
- 35:59stretch out your hands like a really long car.
- 36:01But they did limo on the nose like snooty.
- 36:01DANI: Oh,
- 36:04that's fun.
- 36:04KARA: Because this is snooty.
- 36:04DANI: So Daphne
- 36:06was kind of being like, you want to come in the
- 36:09limo?
- 36:09KARA: Exactly.
- 36:09DANI: That's fun.
- 36:09KARA: Do you want to go
- 36:11in this very expensive car that Wilke rented?
- 36:14And Travis is like, hell yeah.
- 36:14DANI: Yeah. Yeah. I
- 36:17like that there's no moment where they're like,
- 36:19maybe Travis is romantically interested in Daphne
- 36:22he's really just like I'm here as a friend, I
- 36:25do not give a fuck if Wilke is here.
- 36:25KARA: Yeah.
- 36:25DANI: Yeah.
- 36:28But Wilke is very upset that Travis is here.
- 36:30So they're in the car together and he's being
- 36:33really rude he's like, he's like, hey, like, Travis,
- 36:36like, stop eating the snacks. Like, those are
- 36:38for us.
- 36:38KARA: Travis is eating what looks like a delicious
- 36:41bowl of chocolate covered strawberries.
- 36:41DANI: Yeah,
- 36:42they look so good.
- 36:42KARA: And he's reclining on the
- 36:44seat. And Wilke's like, do you mind? And Travis
- 36:47is like, what?
- 36:47DANI: Yeah.
- 36:47KARA: What's your problem, Wilke?
- 36:49DANI: He's a part of this, too.
- 36:49KARA: And Daphne, now we
- 36:52get to see the dress. Would you like to describe
- 36:53the dress? I wrote, do you know what the two
- 36:57of them look like to me? It's Kermit and Miss
- 36:59Piggy.
- 36:59DANI: That's mean. But kind of.
- 36:59KARA: It's the color
- 37:03of the dress. It is a nude dress.
- 37:03DANI: It's like a
- 37:07nudey pink.
- 37:07KARA: Strapless?
- 37:07DANI: Yeah, which is not a flattering
- 37:11color on Daphne.
- 37:11KARA: Because she has pale skin already.
- 37:14DANI: She's already quite pink toned. So it is sort
- 37:17of giving complete nude.
- 37:17KARA: Yeah.
- 37:17DANI: Strapless in a
- 37:20way that is also extremely unflattering. There's
- 37:22no cleavage happening. It's like a clinging situation.
- 37:26And it is a short dress, like it cuts off
- 37:29at the knee, which is a bad place for a dress
- 37:32to cut off, like right at the knee. That is not
- 37:34flattering.
- 37:34KARA: Conservative.
- 37:34DANI: Yeah, it's very conservative.
- 37:38And the whole bottom half of the dress is feathers.
- 37:41KARA: Feathers. She does have- the hair's cute, though.
- 37:43It's like half up with some waves.
- 37:43DANI: It's fine.
- 37:46Yeah, that's the hair you do. Also the shoes.
- 37:48The shoes are like a tan nude. And they're like
- 37:52too high for the dress. It doesn't make any sense.
- 37:55KARA: I know.
- 37:55DANI: It's really bad. They did her so dirty.
- 37:58KARA: She looks like a nude Muppet.
- 37:58DANI: She's giving nude
- 38:01Muppet.
- 38:01KARA: It's unfortunate. Together they look
- 38:03like Kermit and Miss Piggy.
- 38:03DANI: Totally.
- 38:03KARA: Now we're caught
- 38:06in prom with Bay and Emmett. I guess this detention
- 38:09center is right outside of town because they're
- 38:11there on time. Wilke and Daphne, I guess, arrived
- 38:15because they're sitting on a bench outside of
- 38:17prom. And she's mad at Wilke for the way he
- 38:20treated Travis. But then she's also like, I saw
- 38:23your dad.
- 38:23DANI: Yeah.
- 38:23KARA: And I heard you're going to boarding
- 38:26school. And Wilke's like, well, I was going
- 38:28to tell you. But Daphne doesn't want to hear
- 38:30it. And she storms out. I think this is kind
- 38:33of warranted.
- 38:33DANI: It's totally warranted. But then
- 38:35later on when she's like, OK, let's just have
- 38:38one good like last night together. I'm like,
- 38:40yeah, you should have gotten there sooner. Because
- 38:42at this point, it's like-
- 38:42KARA: You're at prom. Just
- 38:44have a good time.
- 38:44DANI: You're at prom. This isn't
- 38:46your boyfriend anymore. He's about to go away
- 38:49forever.
- 38:49KARA: Have some of Travis's alcohol before
- 38:52it gets confiscated.
- 38:52DANI: Get a little sip from the
- 38:54flask and just, like, live it up. Because Wilke
- 38:57is kind of the have fun guy anyway.
- 38:57KARA: Yeah.
- 38:57DANI: So,
- 38:59like, what's the point of having a heartfelt
- 39:01conversation about how you should have acted
- 39:03differently?
- 39:03KARA: Everyone's trying to have a heartfelt
- 39:05conversation at this inappropriate setting. Not
- 39:08the time.
- 39:08DANI: This is for dancing.
- 39:08KARA: It's for dancing
- 39:10and spiking a drink, which Travis attempts to
- 39:14do. But then John comes up behind him and catches
- 39:17him in the act. And Travis attempts to play dumb.
- 39:20DANI: Yeah.
- 39:20KARA: I loved when John goes, you, drinky, and
- 39:25waves his finger. No.
- 39:25DANI: But also, why are they
- 39:28letting John chaperone deaf prom? He cannot sign
- 39:32for shit.
- 39:32KARA: Yeah.
- 39:32DANI: Anyway.
- 39:32KARA: I think you drinky
- 39:35no is very clear, though.
- 39:35DANI: No, it's really good.
- 39:37Yeah, true.
- 39:37KARA: And Travis hands over the flask.
- 39:39It's John and Melody's for the rest of the night.
- 39:41DANI: And they will be drinking from it.
- 39:41KARA: Regina is
- 39:44out with Patrick. They're going to have their
- 39:46sexy date.
- 39:46DANI: I feel like Italian before sex, not
- 39:50ideal.
- 39:50KARA: What should you eat before sex?
- 39:50DANI: Preferably
- 39:53nothing. A power bar?
- 39:53KARA: I don't know. I think I
- 39:56could do Italian, but then a nice break in between.
- 39:59DANI: Sure. A nap before.
- 39:59KARA: But she's glued to her phone
- 40:02this entire date. Poor Patrick.
- 40:02DANI: Regina's a walking
- 40:05red flag.
- 40:05KARA: She goes, sorry, it's my ex. You know,
- 40:09like, it's this guy, Angelo. And Patrick's like,
- 40:11I know who he is. And she's just basically trying
- 40:13to convince herself she's over him. She's like,
- 40:15sorry, it's like the immigration lawyer. And
- 40:17Patrick, to his credit, is trying to be supportive
- 40:21and listen to all this.
- 40:21DANI: He's being super great.
- 40:24And she just does the thing that you absolutely
- 40:26don't want to do on a date is be like, what am
- 40:30I doing? I'm sitting here with this great guy
- 40:33who doesn't need a lawyer, who isn't in detention.
- 40:36KARA: Who's not a fugitive.
- 40:36DANI: Not a fugitive. And here
- 40:39I am thinking about this other guy. And it's
- 40:41like, right. We already know that. And he already
- 40:44knows that. Like you spelling that out for yourself
- 40:46out loud is not helping your case at all.
- 40:46KARA: And
- 40:50Patrick's like, I'm not a fugitive. That's the
- 40:52bare minimum?
- 40:52DANI: Also, she doesn't say like why
- 40:54she likes him.
- 40:54KARA: No.
- 40:54DANI: She's just listing all the
- 40:57ways he's not like Angelo.
- 40:57KARA: And why she should
- 41:00like him because he's not like Angelo.
- 41:00DANI: I mean,
- 41:02I can't list a lot of things about Patrick I
- 41:04like either, but she should be able to. She's
- 41:06about to have sex with him.
- 41:06KARA: He likes art and
- 41:09she likes art. That's all I could tell you. Next
- 41:11scene, we're back at prom and Emmett leaves Bay
- 41:14to go say hi to someone, whatever. And John comes
- 41:18up and he does like a little silly dad dance.
- 41:20And Bay, since she just saw Angelo and kind of
- 41:23hates Angelo, is like, wait, John, dad, you kind
- 41:27of rock. I'm very grateful I have you.
- 41:27DANI: She's
- 41:29like, at least you're just like embarrassing
- 41:30me at prom and not taking my $40.
- 41:30KARA: Love you, dad.
- 41:34DANI: And then. We're back on the side of the road.
- 41:37KARA: Yep. They're still waiting for AAA.
- 41:37DANI: Yeah. Kathryn's still
- 41:40waiting with Craig and they're like having a
- 41:42chat and he's like, oh, you're cold. He takes
- 41:46his jacket off and she's like, no, no, I'm fine.
- 41:49He wraps it around her. It's like a scene out
- 41:51of a romantic movie.
- 41:51KARA: Yep.
- 41:51DANI: They're like snuggled
- 41:54together under this coat, faces so close together.
- 41:57And then they're like two centimeters from kissing.
- 42:00KARA: But then Kathryn pulls away.
- 42:00DANI: And then Kathryn
- 42:01pulls away.
- 42:01KARA: And Craig goes, I'm so sorry. And
- 42:04Kathryn goes, no, it wasn't just you.
- 42:04DANI: Good
- 42:06of her to admit that. Because it isn't just him.
- 42:10I mean, he's being extremely unprofessional.
- 42:12But I get it. She looks amazing.
- 42:12KARA: She's wearing
- 42:15the red dress. Now, back at prom, Bay sees Daphne.
- 42:19And she says, I saw Angelo, but I don't want
- 42:23to talk about it. And Daphne's like, great, because
- 42:24I don't want to hear about it.
- 42:24DANI: Points for honesty.
- 42:27KARA: Daphne tells Bay, by the way, Wilke's going
- 42:29to boarding school. Everything sucks. And Bay's
- 42:32like, wow, that does suck. Why don't we leave
- 42:34this place and have some fun with Toby and Simone?
- 42:36DANI: She hates Simone. Like, are they good now? I
- 42:39don't understand how they're good now.
- 42:39KARA: Memory
- 42:41of a goldfish, like you said last episode.
- 42:41DANI: So
- 42:44she's like, yeah, we should all go to like a
- 42:45World of Fun or something.
- 42:45KARA: Yeah, I don't know.
- 42:48Just like get out of here and also have fun.
- 42:50DANI: A little inconsiderate of her. Granted, fuck
- 42:53Emmett, but she doesn't know yet. It's Emmett's
- 42:56prom. Like for her pitch to be like let's
- 42:59leave here so that we can support the send
- 43:02-off of Daphne's boyfriend that is not your friend.
- 43:06It's, like, a little crazy.
- 43:06KARA: Yeah, this is the
- 43:07problem you were invited to.
- 43:07DANI: Yeah, like, maybe
- 43:09consult him first. But she's like, let's get
- 43:12out of here. Let's go to World of Fun. Hit up
- 43:14the golf course. And Daphne's like, yeah, that
- 43:17sounds like a good idea.
- 43:17KARA: Yeah. John is drinking
- 43:20from Travis's flask, and Melody catches him in
- 43:23the act. And she's like, hand it over, and she chugs
- 43:26it. Kind of hot.
- 43:26DANI: She does a good job. Yeah, she
- 43:28looks hot doing it.
- 43:28KARA: She has, like, a little 80s
- 43:30look. She has a purple dress and some wavy hair
- 43:32going on. Kind of teased a little bit. And she
- 43:35goes, where's Kathryn? And John goes, Kathryn's
- 43:38out playing Nancy Drew right now. And I like
- 43:40that Melody mimed the magnifying glass. Maybe
- 43:45that's the sign for Nancy Drew. Who knows? But
- 43:47that was fun. And Melody signs, you two have
- 43:49been through a lot in these past few months.
- 43:51And then she signs something else. But John doesn't
- 43:54understand. But Principal Rose, thankfully, is
- 43:56on the other side of this park.
- 43:56DANI: Thank God. She's
- 43:58available to yell out what Melody was signing.
- 44:01KARA: And she translates it. And she goes, Melody envies
- 44:05your devotion. You two are long distance runners.
- 44:08That's sweet.
- 44:08DANI: Also come a long way from Melody
- 44:10hitting on John. Like for her this time to be
- 44:13like, love your wife.
- 44:13KARA: You two kind of rock.
- 44:13DANI: Love
- 44:16your love.
- 44:16KARA: Kathryn made yummy chocolate blood
- 44:18last episode.
- 44:18DANI: Yeah, she won Melody over.
- 44:18KARA: Yeah,
- 44:22you two are pretty cool. And then the next scene,
- 44:25Regina and Patrick are sneaking into the Kennish
- 44:28house to steal condoms.
- 44:28DANI: Right.
- 44:28KARA: I feel like if
- 44:31you planned a sex date, condoms would be, like,
- 44:34one of the things on your mind.
- 44:34DANI: Also, like, it
- 44:36just makes me mad when men aren't prepared.
- 44:36KARA: I
- 44:39know. We talked about this before.
- 44:39DANI: He should
- 44:40have been prepared.
- 44:40KARA: Then Kathryn arrives at
- 44:42prom because Toby picked her up.
- 44:42DANI: After they almost
- 44:46kiss, Kathryn's like, I have to call my son.
- 44:48KARA: Yeah. I'm not waiting for AAA.
- 44:48DANI: Yeah. So she shows
- 44:52up at prom and she sees John.
- 44:52KARA: John comes up to
- 44:56Kathryn in her sexy red dress and he goes,
- 44:59do you want to dance? And the two of them apologize
- 45:01and make up and they have a beautiful little
- 45:03dance together.
- 45:03DANI: They do. Is this a safe space
- 45:06to critique their signing?
- 45:06KARA: Oh, for sure.
- 45:06DANI: John,
- 45:09like, as kind of as a bit is like, I'm going
- 45:12to sign this to you.
- 45:12KARA: Because we're at deaf prom.
- 45:14DANI: And so he's like, you want to dance? And his
- 45:17dance is like, I don't even know. I can't even
- 45:20redo what his is. But Kathryn goes, I would
- 45:23love to dance with you. And all she signs back,
- 45:26it's like, it's like a little ant crawling.
- 45:26KARA: It's
- 45:29like, it's like walking on the hand instead of
- 45:32like the P going back and forth.
- 45:32DANI: Yeah. It's
- 45:35bad. It's.
- 45:35KARA: Yeah.
- 45:35DANI: It's bad form. So that was a
- 45:39little bit distracting from their beautiful moment.
- 45:41But it is nice to see that they're no longer
- 45:43on the rocks.
- 45:43KARA: They're long distance runners.
- 45:46DANI: Yeah. So then Daphne goes to Wilke. And she's
- 45:50like, hey, what if we all get out of here? And
- 45:54we go to World of Fun. And he's like, okay. And
- 45:57she's like, yeah, we go with Toby and Simone
- 45:59and Emmett and Bay. And he's like- I don't know
- 46:02why he chooses to be mad about Emmett.
- 46:02KARA: I think
- 46:07because he knows about Simone's behavior, but
- 46:10I think he's even more hurt that Emmett would
- 46:12do something like this.
- 46:12DANI: Yeah. He's like, I don't
- 46:14want to go with Emmett. And Daphne's like, you've
- 46:17hated Emmett since day one. What's going on?
- 46:20KARA: Which I don't know if that's true.
- 46:20DANI: I guess he's
- 46:23just always not really giving a fuck about Emmett,
- 46:25which is true.
- 46:25KARA: But they just never clicked.
- 46:25DANI: Then
- 46:28he kind of, I guess, kind of hated him because
- 46:30maybe he was jealous of him? Right? Because he
- 46:33wanted to get with Daphne.
- 46:33KARA: Yeah.
- 46:33DANI: But Wilke's
- 46:36like, I've just always felt that he's phony.
- 46:39KARA: And Daphne's like, he's my best friend. I've
- 46:41known him my whole life.
- 46:41DANI: Right.
- 46:41KARA: And then Wilke
- 46:43walks away mumbling, I don't think you know him
- 46:47as well as you do. And Daphne's like, so you
- 46:49just walked away and mumbled to a deaf person,
- 46:51what did you say? And then he comes clean. And
- 46:54he goes, Emmett slept with Simone at the basketball
- 46:57tournament. And Daphne immediately goes why
- 47:00would you say something like that?
- 47:00DANI: She, like,
- 47:02does not believe it at all.
- 47:02KARA: No, he didn't. And
- 47:05he's like, I saw it in the text. And Daphne goes,
- 47:07why didn't you tell me sooner? And he goes, well,
- 47:09I want to get involved.
- 47:09DANI: Especially now that we
- 47:11know that he's leaving. I can understand not
- 47:13wanting to be, like, the one to blow up that
- 47:15situation and then dip.
- 47:15KARA: Yeah. So Daphne immediately
- 47:18runs back into the prom. She grabs Emmett, who
- 47:22was dancing with Bay, and she goes-
- 47:22DANI: I know,
- 47:23Bay looked like she was having a really good
- 47:25time, too.
- 47:25KARA: I know.
- 47:25DANI: I felt bad.
- 47:25KARA: But she's like,
- 47:28sorry to interrupt. Emmett, let's talk. They go
- 47:30outside and she immediately goes, did you sleep
- 47:34with Simone? Emmett acts so confused. What?
- 47:34DANI: He's
- 47:39such a bad liar.
- 47:39KARA: And Daphne gets this right away.
- 47:39DANI: Yeah.
- 47:42She asked him like seven times the same. She's
- 47:45like, you didn't sleep with Simone? And he's
- 47:46like, no.
- 47:46KARA: You didn't?
- 47:46DANI: You didn't?
- 47:46KARA: Sleep with
- 47:48Simone?
- 47:48DANI: Sleep with? Simone? No.
- 47:48KARA: No. You sure?
- 47:52DANI: Yeah. And she's like, okay, if you say you didn't,
- 47:54then I believe you. Sorry for asking.
- 47:54KARA: Go back
- 47:57to dancing. And then immediately goes back to
- 48:00Wilke. And is like, shit.
- 48:00DANI: He lied.
- 48:00KARA: He lied
- 48:03to my face.
- 48:03DANI: Yeah. He's a liar. But Emmett knows.
- 48:06Emmett knows he's caught.
- 48:06KARA: Emmett knows.
- 48:06DANI: Because
- 48:09he right away goes to Bay.
- 48:09KARA: He is riddled with
- 48:11guilt. But Daphne goes back to Wilke and is
- 48:13like, what do we do? We need to tell Bay. Maybe
- 48:16don't tell her tonight.
- 48:16DANI: Yeah.
- 48:16KARA: But it's fine because
- 48:18Emmett is going to ruin everything anyway.
- 48:18DANI: Yeah.
- 48:21All by himself.
- 48:21KARA: He comes back to the dance floor
- 48:24like shaking with guilt. And Bay immediately
- 48:26sees it. And she's like, what's wrong? And he
- 48:28goes, can we talk outside?
- 48:28DANI: Smart of him to know
- 48:31that, like, once Daphne knows, it's all over.
- 48:34KARA: It's over. They go outside. He sits her down
- 48:37on the bench at this country club that they're
- 48:39at. And then he goes, I made a mistake at the
- 48:42basketball tournament. I hooked up with someone.
- 48:45And Vanessa Marano is acting her ass off here.
- 48:48And she goes, was it Daphne?
- 48:48DANI: That's crazy. Daphne's
- 48:51been so nice to you these past few episodes.
- 48:53Don't drag her into this.
- 48:53KARA: And he goes, no, no.
- 48:56But she's like, you have to tell me who it is.
- 48:58You have to tell me, who was it.
- 48:58DANI: Oh, and he does
- 49:00the most painful, slow finger spelling.
- 49:00KARA: S-I
- 49:04-M-O-N-E.
- 49:04DANI: Yeah, he's, like, looking away from
- 49:07his hand. He can't even bear to watch himself
- 49:09sign it.
- 49:09KARA: And Bay can't even look at him. She
- 49:12runs off.
- 49:12DANI: And Bay's like, you don't even know
- 49:14her, which is so sweet and sad because it's like,
- 49:16yeah, Bay's never slept with anyone. She's like,
- 49:19it's not even like you cheated on me with someone
- 49:21where, like, would have meant something. It's,
- 49:23like, almost worse to her, I feel. She's like,
- 49:26you don't even give a fuck about her. Why would
- 49:28you sleep with her? That's crazy.
- 49:28KARA: Worst junior
- 49:31banquet ever.
- 49:31DANI: So yeah, she runs off.
- 49:31KARA: Wilke and
- 49:36Daphne are sitting on the bench in front of some
- 49:39fireplace at the country club.
- 49:39DANI: Yeah.
- 49:39KARA: No one's
- 49:42going to World of Fun now, I don't think.
- 49:42DANI: That
- 49:44ship has sailed.
- 49:44KARA: But they're having like this
- 49:46bittersweet goodbye.
- 49:46DANI: They're sitting in front
- 49:49of the fire and he says, I've never fought so
- 49:52hard for someone in my life and now I have to
- 49:55leave you. Did you fight that hard?
- 49:55KARA: You didn't
- 49:58even learn sign.
- 49:58DANI: Like, what did you do?
- 49:58KARA: That's
- 50:01so hard.
- 50:01DANI: What effort did you put in, Wilke?
- 50:04That's crazy.
- 50:04KARA: What, you snuck out of the house
- 50:06to hang out with her? Is that fighting?
- 50:06DANI: I guess
- 50:08because she didn't immediately cave to him. Maybe?
- 50:12Whatever. Yeah. They just have, like, a bittersweet
- 50:15farewell. And then back inside, Toby sees
- 50:19Emmett standing alone and he's like, hey man,
- 50:21what's up? Like completely clueless still. And
- 50:24Emmett's like [GROANS]. We don't see if they talk. Do
- 50:28you think Emmett tells him?
- 50:28KARA: I feel like he does
- 50:30because he's like, well, I'm on a roll.
- 50:30DANI: Yeah,
- 50:32true.
- 50:32KARA: He's gonna be like, I slept with your
- 50:34girlfriend.
- 50:34DANI: That's gonna be harder for Toby,
- 50:37who's not as good at sign. He's gonna be like,
- 50:39what?
- 50:39KARA: What does the sign mean? I don't get it.
- 50:41Bay walks up to Emmett's bike. Picks up the helmet
- 50:44that says Bay on it and throws it in the pond
- 50:47and watches it sink. Bye-bye.
- 50:47DANI: It's okay. It
- 50:50was just a sticker on a random helmet.
- 50:50KARA: I'm more
- 50:53worried about the littering, but it's fine.
- 50:55DANI: It's going to be easy to replace.
- 50:55KARA: Now we're back
- 50:57at the guest house.
- 50:57DANI: Yeah, this is a crazy turn.
- 51:00KARA: Yeah, that's the end of prom. That's the last
- 51:02we see of it.
- 51:02DANI: That's the last we see of any of
- 51:04the characters we mainly care about.
- 51:04KARA: Yeah.
- 51:04DANI: So
- 51:07back at the guest house. Regina gets a knock
- 51:10on the door and you're like, oh my god, who's
- 51:12it gonna be? Who's it gonna be? It's John.
- 51:12KARA: I
- 51:14guess prom is over?
- 51:14DANI: Yeah, Regina's in a sexy
- 51:18post-sex robe situation.
- 51:18KARA: I guess Patrick, I
- 51:21wonder if Patrick's like asleep.
- 51:21DANI: I think Patrick's
- 51:23still there. But Regina is like self-consciously
- 51:26covering herself up in her robe. And John is
- 51:29like, I got off the phone with Angelo's new immigration
- 51:32lawyer.
- 51:32KARA: And we have some options. Angelo can
- 51:35fight deportation on the grounds that he's been
- 51:38in the country for a decade, but that probably
- 51:40won't work because he has a criminal record.
- 51:42He could also fight on the grounds of undue hardship
- 51:45on his child, who is a U.S. citizen, but that
- 51:48would involve Bay testifying. And they both agree
- 51:51that they don't want to make Bay do that.
- 51:51DANI: Good.
- 51:53KARA: And it also probably won't work.
- 51:53DANI: Yeah.
- 51:53KARA: And the
- 51:56very last thing is Angelo commits immigration
- 51:58fraud and marries a U.S. Citizen. DANIL He doesn't
- 52:02say the fraud part. It's implied. He just looks
- 52:05really hard at Regina and goes, he could marry
- 52:08a U.S. Citizen. And that is the end of the episode.
- 52:12KARA: It is.
- 52:12DANI: Crazy.
- 52:12KARA: That, as someone who is a U .S.
- 52:16citizen, who is married to a non-U.S. Citizen,
- 52:19there is no way.
- 52:19DANI: I know, but they love to do
- 52:23this gag. One of my favorite movies does this
- 52:25gag.
- 52:25KARA: I know.
- 52:25DANI: The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds
- 52:28and Sandra Bullock.
- 52:28KARA: I know, because she's Canadian,
- 52:30right?
- 52:30DANI: Yeah.
- 52:30KARA: Yeah. It's just the, USCIS is going
- 52:35to immediately look at the papers, see that he
- 52:38has been detained and is about to be deported
- 52:40back to Italy.
- 52:40DANI: Right.
- 52:40KARA: And see he got married.
- 52:43DANI: Right.
- 52:43KARA: And be like, this is fraud.
- 52:43DANI: Yeah. Like
- 52:47very clearly.
- 52:47KARA: Whatever. Whatever. It's not my
- 52:49problem. And they'll get into this later.
- 52:49DANI: I guess
- 52:52they could. I don't really remember what they
- 52:54do, but I guess they could pitch it as like,
- 52:55well, we broke up because.
- 52:55KARA: And they do have a
- 52:58history together.
- 52:58DANI: They do have a history. We
- 53:00broke up because we thought, like he thought I'd
- 53:02had an affair, but then our children were switched
- 53:04at birth. So obviously we got back together.
- 53:06KARA: Yeah.
- 53:06DANI: And we're in love again.
- 53:06KARA: Yeah, that's true.
