- 1:13SPEAKER_02: I'm so excited you're here.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: Um I would love to get started with your journey and your career because I know that you are truly an expert in skin and skin health.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: And just I I just want to learn everything about you, like where it all started, um, and all your inspiration came from.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: If you could kind of walk us down memory lane.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I most definitely will.
- 1:32SPEAKER_03: And thank you for having me.
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: I'm so excited to be here.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: I'm such a fan as well.
- 1:35SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, I mean, I have been a facialist for 28 years.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: Uh, when I became a facialist, no one even knew what an esthetician was.
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: Uh it was just hotels, it wasn't hotel and spas.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: So the spa business hadn't really taken off yet.
- 1:51SPEAKER_03: And I have always been in California.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: And um, what happened was I took a trip to Paris and I was uh 22 through my my college and was studying business and I discovered facials there.
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: I was uh early 20s and discovered kind of walking around Paris, I saw these beautiful, gorgeous, like uh a desk and a bureau and a woman, and there was just tons of product.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: And it wasn't like a hair salon or nails, which is what I was used to.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: It was just showcasing skin and skin care.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: And I just wandered in and asked and had a facial and was just kind of mes mesmerized by how French women just really care for their skin.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: It's almost like going to the dentist.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: It's just something they do, they go and get facials and they start like 13 years old.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: No, I've heard that.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: I've heard how embedded it is in their culture, and that's I I love it.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: I wish we were like that here.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: In a little time.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: We're we're trying.
- 2:48unknown: Yeah.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: No, but I I mean, honestly, you have so much experience, and I, you know, your products are so like I feel like so mindfully crafted.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: So I just I want to know, like, you know, when you like where did it all begin for you in terms of I want to make my own line or I want to, you know, I want to do this myself.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Um, where did that really get sparked?
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: That's a great question.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: Um, like I said, I've been doing it for 28 years.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: So I've worked for many different brands.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: And it became a point where I just I learned so much about skin.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: And in when you're in the treatment room giving facials, you're talking with your client who comes on a regular basis.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: You're finding out, you know, if they're using other products and you're you're interested in why their skin is this way.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: And and there just became a point when new clients would come in and just say, you know, hi, you know, nice to meet you, Miss Facialist, but I have sensitive skin, like please be careful, don't mess it up.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: And and there just became a point where I realized they don't have sensitive skin.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: It's sensitized by the products they're using.
- 3:45SPEAKER_03: And that is just when I became empowered, and also working for different spas, you know, they were telling me you need to sell these products and say that this is natural or say that this is this.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: And it wasn't, and you know, it was bright green, and they said, Yeah, it's natural, it smells like perfume, and you know, there's dimethicone in it.
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: And I was just like, this isn't skincare, and it's not even really honest to the people that I'm connecting with in the treatment room.
- 4:09SPEAKER_03: So I think that's the difference with creating, and I love the way you phrase that, you know, a real conscious skincare line because I'm hands-on and and I have relationships with my end consumer.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: So when I go and create new products or tools, whatever it is, it's with that connection in mind and and trust and respect that I have for the women I'm helping or men.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: That's the difference.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, and it, you know, it really shows because, you know, I know that, you know, the the line doesn't have like a plethora of products, which I love.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Everything in your line is so targeted and it's so it has its place and it's serving a purpose.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: And that's something I really want you to talk to us about because, you know, in the world of just the skincare industry right now, the way it is, and I'm sure you've noticed this, everybody has every product, right?
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: And every and the consumers are just like going nuts because they don't know what to buy.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: And you know, so when I approach lines, you know, from just experts such as yourself, I'm like, well, here you go.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: You know, she's got what we need in her line.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: And so I would love for you to talk to our listeners about, you know, how to approach skincare products and what you know, what should we be looking for, right?
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: In our routine.
- 5:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, because we're told so many different things wherever we go shopping or you know, whoever we're watching on Instagram, it's it is confusing for the customer, it really is.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: And and I created my skincare line with, you know, my my knowledge and also my needs in mind.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: So I I wanted to start, uh, I started formulating my hero product, the souffle moisturizer, 10 years ago.
- 5:47SPEAKER_03: And another story we can talk about later, but I was inspired by my client, Barbara Streisand, to start my own skincare line, which is kind of what propelled me to do this.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: But um, also the need of creating something that I knew worked with the skin, and and that went with uh the technology behind all of the skincare products, which is something I refer to as lipid lock technology.
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: And I when I launched four and a half years ago at Violet Gray, this was the hero proprietary blend and in all of my skincare and still continues to be.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: And this is before anyone brought up barrier or skin barrier, and this is from the beginning, and it's something that I saw in my treatment room that I wanted to create, and which is what makes the product so special.
- 6:29SPEAKER_03: And what this is, the lipid lock technology, it's it's a proprietary blend of bioidentical ingredients from nature that go deeply into your skin, and that's antioxidants and essential fatty acids, and my hero ingredient, meto foam seed oil.
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: And metalfoam seed oil is something that is non-congestive, it's so lightweight, and it's almost identical in molecular structure to our own sebum.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: So it goes right into the skin, and it's delivering kind of what we need and what we lose as we age, because as we age, we lose a lot of sebum production.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: That's why we get drier and dull.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: We're missing that, like what we had when we were 15 or or 20.
- 7:08SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: And uh, you know, just for everyone listening, um, the souffle moisturizer, as someone who recently tried it and has immediately fallen in love, it's literally the most luxurious uh moisturizer I've ever tried in my life.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: It's brilliant.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: Like it just, you know, I can use it as a night cream.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: I'm I use it as a night cream and I like layer it on at night.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: And I I kid you not, I wake up the next morning and my skin is just like plump and it's glowing and it's just it's beautiful.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: Like it's just beautiful.
- 7:37SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 7:38SPEAKER_03: And it's really transforming.
- 7:39SPEAKER_03: And I'm even shocked when I first launched it.
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: You know, I had, you know, the British beauty editor of British Vogue just say, Angela.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: You know, she came in for a facial and she named my my spa in Bel Air at the time one of the top places to visit when you go to LA.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: But I gave her my products and she came back for the photo shoot for the magazine, and she said, Angela.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: I have been using, you know, the other brands, I don't know if I can say them, but very expensive brands.
- 8:02SPEAKER_03: Obviously, she has access.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: And she said, Your souffle moisturizer is by far better.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: And from there, it's just like every celebrity.
- 8:09SPEAKER_03: I mean, I can't even tell you all the people that are obsessed with it.
- 8:12SPEAKER_03: So, and that's just going back to the basics of my philosophy is really just nourishing and protecting your lipid barrier and delivering ingredients deeply that help to plump and to brighten.
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: There's also vitamin C in it, so that's anti-aging.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: But I also have instead of the first ingredient being water, it's aloe vera juice.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: There's goat milk, uh, it's kosher goat milk, and it's from actually a farm where I am from in the Central Valley.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: I grew up, you know, with a farming family and it's uh Meyenberg farms, the goat milk.
- 8:42SPEAKER_03: So everything has just such care uh with the formulas.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, and it and it really shows, you know, the craftsmanship really shows in all of your products.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: But you know, I actually, Angela, I really want to talk to you about your techniques because I've noticed like on your Instagram lives, like, you know, you will use some of your tools.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: And I know the the quartz products that you've recently um been talking about are just phenomenal.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: And I and I for everyone out there, let's just set the record straight.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: Angela is the go-to person if you're looking for quartz anything, okay, for the eye mask, for everything, because I've seen a lot of dupes, okay?
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: And they're not the same thing.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: And they're not the same thing.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: So I would love for you to talk to us about just techniques that you have, you know, kind of shared on Instagram live.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: Um, I just to share that information with us about what the benefits are of using these pro these tools when we're approaching our skin health.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and great question.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: And I, you know, my tagline is integrated beauty.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: So we integrate what I do in the treatment room.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: So it's not just products when you give a facial, it's products and tools to create that result.
- 9:48SPEAKER_03: And my whole philosophy is to make women have that incredible moment at home, whether it's one minute or two minute, but they're getting their results, but they're also kind of rejuvenating their spirit and kind of zenning out like they do in my treatment room.
- 10:00SPEAKER_03: So the reason I chose Rose Quartz is because one, it's a love energy, it's a self-empowering energy for women, which is my you know philosophy, which I just want everyone to feel good so they can uh be happier and glow more when they're feeling good and empowered with their skin.
- 10:17SPEAKER_03: And also, it's one of the most dense stones.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: So it's it's more dense than amethyst, jade, uh, obsidian.
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: And the reason it is, it's so dense that it actually retains uh the cold for longer.
- 10:29SPEAKER_03: So if you're gonna roll your skin, you want to use a rose quartz one because it's it's colder.
- 10:33SPEAKER_03: And all of my clients are always like, was this the refrigerator?
- 10:36SPEAKER_03: I'm like, no, that's just rose quartz, it's just freezing.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: So that is an added benefit that most people don't even know.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: So you don't even need to put it in the refrigerator or the freezer because the minute you pick it up, it's freezing.
- 10:47SPEAKER_03: And we we source the highest grade rose quartz.
- 10:50SPEAKER_03: A lot of the rose quartz is not even real rose quartz that you can find on Amazon.
- 10:53SPEAKER_03: So we pay extra uh to source the highest grade rose quartz from Brazil.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: And I wanted to incorporate more tools.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: We were the first to launch the rose quartz roller uh in the US uh at Violet Gray four and a half years ago.
- 11:06SPEAKER_03: I call it the love V on Rose Quartz roller, and it's still their most watched video, and Neta Porte, it's their most read story rolling.
- 11:14SPEAKER_03: So um we really created a movement, um, thankfully, because I was incorporating, you know, ancient Chinese practices with my high-tech machinery, and I wanted to bring that to um, you know, to where people can do it at home because it's easy.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: And um, we just I kept going.
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: I'm like, let's just design a full face mask, let's just create a chess piece, let's let's do an eye mask.
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: And I just found that you know, women were really wanting this and needing it uh for one, how well it worked and two, how good it felt.
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: And and that's why we just launched the LED with Rose Quartz Crystals to combine high performance and wellness.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: And I, you know, it's interesting because although it's, you know, obviously the skin health benefits are there.
- 11:56SPEAKER_02: One thing I find to be very, very soothing about this approach is that, you know, um, there's a lot of literature that's been published in the realm of like mental health that talks about how these kind of products and like weighted things help people and that have ADHD and it helps them, like, for example, go to bed at night or you know, just calm down in the middle of a meeting or something, you know, like if you want to take a break between meetings, like you can just lay down, put something weighted on you, and this really helps.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: So we're really approaching it, like, yeah, it's good health, but there's a lot more benefits there as well.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: So it's it's it's mental health.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: You're right, it's mental health as well.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: And and that's what a facial is.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: It's those women are are coming to me, yes, for their faces, but they're also coming to me for that mental health moment of getting away from everything.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: And and I work on uh so many amazing women from Barbara Streisand to Cammy Marone uh to uh Minnie Driver, there's uh Helena Christensen, there's just so many amazing women that gravitate toward uh my I call it the Rose Quartz Goddess Facial.
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: And that's with the weighted, I design the weighted uh chest piece and the full face, just so they can and have that moment in the treatment room.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: And I and I do sell it on my website as well because there's such a demand for it.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, and also like I think for me, what really draws me towards your your tool like products is because is that they're very like different than what I've seen.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, okay, everyone's got a roller, right?
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: Like the typical, like the stereotypical roller, but you've got these like very specific shapes um in the products.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: Like, for example, your rosebud eye treatment set is so I I feel like it's just beautiful because it's exactly the shape that you would, you know what I mean?
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: Like the curvatures around it is perfect for the eye area and that that level of detail.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: I mean, can you talk to us about that a little bit of how that works and why that's important?
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and and thank you.
- 13:53SPEAKER_03: Great question.
- 13:54SPEAKER_03: I uh I designed those, and you'll notice my roller doesn't have a small roller at the end, it's not a double-sided.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: And that's done on purpose because I didn't want, because I know women so well because I I work on them, I still get facials, is that they will the small roller they would pull too hard and the skin is much thinner underneath the eye.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: So I didn't want that small roller being rolled by anyone.
- 14:15SPEAKER_03: I I wanted just one large head and I wanted to do the rosebud eye treatment set to where I knew I knew it would be amazing and feel so good, but also they wouldn't be pulling underneath their skin with a rolling action under their eye, because then that would actually cause more wrinkles.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because the eye area is just so so so delicate.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: And you know, yeah, it's it's funny you bring that up, Angela, because I recently I I made a comment and someone was like kind of trying to rebuttal me.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: And I showed them a paper that people have found that recently, you know how all the eye creams are coming out now?
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: Like everyone's got this like super hydrating eye cream.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: Well, what I've I've been doing some research, and what I found is that if you overly do it in your eye area with the hydration, you're gonna cause like wrinkling like you get out of the shower.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, milia and and wrinkling, and so many of these formulas, they have this nasty ingredient that I call a nasty.
- 15:12SPEAKER_03: I don't like it.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: It's dimethicone, and that's a slippery texture.
- 15:16SPEAKER_03: It's it costs pennies to put in your products.
- 15:18SPEAKER_03: They use it in place of oils, it has an oil-like texture, and it's a man-made silicone.
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: And if that's in your products, especially in an eye product, that's how people get the small bumps in Melia, is that so it is just it's so sad that we really have to kind of police our own skincare because the FDA really doesn't regulate it in a way that I wish they would, uh like a facialist would regulate for your skin.
- 15:41SPEAKER_02: No, absolutely.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: And you know, uh I I do actually want to shift a little bit and because you what really caught my eye, I remember I was watching one of your lives and you were using your um the roller that has the it has it uses 6,000 sonic vibrations per minute.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: Um and I was just so fascinated because I was like, oh my gosh, she's absolutely brilliant because you know, the way that our facial muscles are, you know, I recently had an interview with um, you know, Dr.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: Karam, and we were talking about the fascia, right, under the skin.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: And we were discussing just the role of that.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: And so when I look at this product that you've created here, which is um a roller, but it's it's actually vibrating.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: This to me is revolutionary.
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 16:22SPEAKER_02: It's it's really revolutionary.
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: And I would love for you to talk about your um understanding behind it and the vision behind why you created this um for puffiness and for all of the things that we want to use uh, you know, rollers for.
- 16:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, it goes back to my launching, you know, that first rose quartz roller.
- 16:39SPEAKER_03: And then I started obviously aging like everybody else, and and I, you know, just turned 50 and I'm like, we we need something supercharged.
- 16:46SPEAKER_03: You know, everyone has a roller now.
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: It's it's it's insane how great it is.
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: Everyone has a roller, but I wanted to do like an anti-aging roller and also one that would help to stimulate um the brightness in the skin, the circulation, and push in product more as well.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: So I did one with had it has sonic technology, 6,000 sonic vibrations per minute.
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: And what I love about it, my favorite way to use it, is to hold it in place for a moment, the jawline, and you can actually put it there for like 40 seconds, hold it, and then roll up, and you can sculpt your jawline up with the vibrations.
- 17:20SPEAKER_03: So it's just a lovely way.
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: It feels amazing, and it's actually cold and it's a roller and you're rolling, but it's also doing so much for your facial muscles.
- 17:30SPEAKER_03: And it's just it comes with a battery, you don't have to charge it.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: It's just Netflix friendly.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: You can sit there and watch TV.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: It's just such a lovely item.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: I think I've seen you on one of your lives.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: You were getting ready to go out with your husband, I think, and you were like, Yeah, I'm just gonna sit here and roll for a minute and talk to you guys.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: It was awesome.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: No, but I, you know, I think it's brilliant because honestly, you know, Angela, I'm somebody who, you know, suffers from TOSIS and it's hereditary.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: And for me, it was always this thing, you know, in my life that was something I was very self-conscious about.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, when I started learning about this idea of stimulating your facial muscles and and whatnot, I realized that these kind of little pathologies such as TOSIS, because the muscles are so thin, something like this is ideal for everyday, it's almost like an everyday exercise for those muscles, you know?
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and so TMJ, anything in the face with your experience.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: And that's why I think this is so just I I don't see anybody else doing this because it it's really working.
- 18:34SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, people talk about, for example, lymphatic drainage.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: They talk about all these things when it comes to rollers, but if you really want to talk about lymphatic drainage, you're gonna need this these sonic vibrations because the way lymph flows, and I don't know how many of you listening know, but in lymph, uh your lymph circulation, there's no such thing as smooth muscle contractions.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: So it's all reliant on the pressure and the movement that you produce on your face and your body.
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: And so this is something that's absolutely perfect for something like that, you know, for getting that lymph to move.
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: And I used two in my treatment room uh on the face at the time, like two hands and do a lymphatic drainage massage.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: It's really nice.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: It feels amazing and it works really well.
- 19:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, I can imagine.
- 19:19SPEAKER_02: Now I want to ask you, you know, for somebody who's absolutely new to the skin health category, you know, I have a lot of listeners that reach out and they're like, you know, please recommend a line or please recommend a product.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: And I often find myself just completely, you know, stumped, you know, believe it or not.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: I interview so many brands, but um, I tell them, you know, you want to invest in brands that are going to keep it simple and to the point.
- 19:45SPEAKER_02: So I want your advice firsthand for all the listeners about how we should go about our skin health.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: What are the key things we should look for in a good routine, according to what you've seen and your experience?
- 19:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, I I like to say, uh, you know, hold out your hand.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: You have five fingers.
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: Don't use any more than five products in one setting of whatever you're doing to your skin.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: If you're doing more than that, you know, you're sensitizing your skin.
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: I also like to recommend, and this may be controversial because most of the stores don't believe this or they can't believe this, but the best way to have, you know, really good skin health is to stick with one skincare line that you're using, whatever it may be at the time, because there's a synergy from the founder and the chemist in creating these products that work together.
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: When you mix and have, I mean, the shelfie did nothing for the skin barrier.
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: Having all these different products there, and so many of them, they can counteract each other.
- 20:43SPEAKER_03: You can have one with something that's irritating, and then you have this beautiful product that isn't really able to do what it was meant to do because you just put something else on before or after it.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: So uh, you know, being a facialist in the spa business, like we give facials with one product line.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: We don't use a different uh product for each step because we know that that client would probably break out when they left.
- 21:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, no, it makes sense.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: No, I, you know, and I think uh I think one of my one of my biggest questions is also about like, you know, um, and I want to bring this up here because you have a quality line, right?
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: And a lot of people say, well, I need something that's like, you know, ten dollars.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: But I'm like, you know, if you like, for example, the souffle moisturizer, let's start there.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: You don't need a lot of this product.
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: So everyone listening, like if you don't have the product yourself, like you don't need a lot of it.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Like you really just need like a fair amount, and it's gonna cover your whole face and it's gonna provide the hydration you need.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: So when you're investing in something like this, you're actually paying less if you think about it.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: So it's it's really important to get that message out there because I think that's really what deters people a lot of times from buying, you know, just really well crafted brands like yours, because it's like, you know, they they they think that, oh, well, it's too expensive or it's I don't.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: need something that expensive, but you do because the quality isn't there in products that are made in ten dollars.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: If something's made for ten dollars, how much innovation and science is going behind it, right?
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: Like you have to think like how much innovation is really there.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: So I I just I want to get like, you know, your your view on when you crafted like for example the moisturizer like it's so easy to spread out.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: It's so easy to use.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: Like was that intentional?
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: Like how did you go about that in terms of the formula?
- 22:29SPEAKER_03: It was actually not intentional.
- 22:31SPEAKER_03: And after it was just like wow um you really don't need to use much of this because it's so condensed with such good ingredients that spread so well into the skin.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: You literally need like a P size if and that will last you the soup moisturizer longer than most moisturizer jars.
- 22:46SPEAKER_03: You don't need a lot of it it's it's just so intense.
- 22:48SPEAKER_03: So I mean literally like almost five months and and that's like pennies per application.
- 22:54SPEAKER_03: So you're right.
- 22:55SPEAKER_03: I mean and it is$70 I I was going to it was 125 at one point and I brought it down because I wanted to make it to where women would buy it again and again and and not be you know afraid of buying it because it was over$100.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: And I and I've sold skincare obviously I've been an aesthetician for 28 years.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: I've sold the$300 serums and moisturizers left and right but they come every month and they would buy it a second time but they never would buy it a third time.
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: And that's because they probably realized like huh for that much money it's not that much better.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: So that's why I didn't overcharge for my skincare.
- 23:32SPEAKER_03: I wanted people to try it and and be loyal for years and years.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: Absolutely yeah no I and I understand that you know I I just I just worry about consumers because I think that there's so many brands that are just throwing around words and you know like they're saying well this is great for puffiness or this is great for you know your wrinkles that are about to come out but they're not there yet but I and I find I I just see so many people fall into these holes you know and that's why I really brought that up is like you know instead of doing that just go to someone who's trusted right like it's like put in the time like learn and that's really the for me that's that's the reason I started skincare anarchy you know is is to highlight brands that you can really trust.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: You know one thing I wanted to ask you though because there's one one product on your on your website that I am so fascinated by and that is the A Lister Glow I would love for you to talk to us about um that tool and how it works.
- 24:29SPEAKER_03: Do you mean the uh that that's probably a tagline underneath it do you mean the LED mask?
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Do you mean the gold cryo tell me which the yeah the it's the gold um it's the gold the two the two things um they come together on cryo wands they're gold cryof set yeah yeah yeah the gold cryo facial set I mean that really took off it was just it's uh it's contoured in a way that really works with the shape and contours of your face and most of the cryo uh tools out there I it took me a while to launch this because I thought you know well what's gonna go on with the cryo business and I just saw these plastic things with these big rollers and and they were so ugly and big I thought ew well you know let's just do something a little more refined and elegant.
- 25:15SPEAKER_03: So and gold is so great for your skin.
- 25:18SPEAKER_03: So we have it you know dipped in gold 18 karat gold and and there and there's a liquid inside.
- 25:23SPEAKER_03: So the whole trick with the cryo is having a liquid inside and then you comes with a case and you put it in the freezer and the liquid freezes.
- 25:30SPEAKER_03: So that's what helps to retain the the freezing temperature of the cryo oh wow that's yeah I keep seeing those globes have you seen those globes that everyone has those are like so that's like a a knockoff of this basically yeah I wanted to I always try and give like luxury as elevated as possible because I've always believed the prettier something is the more women will grab it and use it and you've got to use it to make it work.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah absolutely no I completely agree with you.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: And you know so I have I have a question because I know that you know everyone's so hyped about you know clean skincare these days, botanical skincare, herbal skincare.
- 26:10SPEAKER_02: I I want to get your take on that because I know that your serum is known as the daily botanical serum and I would love for you to talk to us about that and um you know why you named it that and what is really inside of it that is very beneficial for our skin.
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah I mean uh it's actually an oil the daily botanical serum is a lightweight oil so it has all organic ingredients just like the the cleansing oil it has uh the most beautiful sea buck thorn it has the liquid lock technology it has Lang Lang and frankincense and I wanted to create something that wouldn't irritate because I've seen oils on the market that also have too many essential oils and there's one real popular one that I tried and I got bumps red bumps immediately.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: So I wanted to create the opposite to where it had just like targeted therapeutic benefits of the essential oils meaning a Lang Lang and frankincense and completely pure.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: So it just smells divine and it has this lightweight beautiful oil and like I said we shouldn't be afraid of oils they do not congest your skin unless it's like a mineral oil or something occlusive.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: What's worse are the products that don't have oils and you look and see what they actually have because the ingredient deck will tell you and it'll be silicones which is much worse for skin that is prone to breakout than an oil would be yeah that's interesting.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: I didn't know like you know I don't know much about oils Angela honestly like that's something that's very very gray space for me.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: You know can you give us like a little maybe like a mini like lesson on that like in terms of oil products because I don't think a lot of people do know about them.
- 27:46SPEAKER_03: For sure and it's it's kind of uh very like American because I studied in in France and the French women were always dousing themselves with with with oils and putting on at night.
- 27:56SPEAKER_03: And if you think about it logically I mean oils are the original moisturizer they're from nature they're liquid form to make a moisturizer you have to have emulsifying or different agents that make it thick and stay thick.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: So it it's not different from a moisturizer.
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: There's nothing to be afraid of it actually is a liquid form from nature that can replace your moisturizer or you can put on top to seal in your moisturizer.
- 28:20SPEAKER_03: But oils are filled with the certain oils like I have the oils that I love the most which are marula moringa metal foam seed oil blackcurrant seed oil.
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: They are so lightweight and they're filled with ceramides and most people don't even know this.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: Like my proprietary blend of lipid lock technology this oil in it has almost 95% ceramides.
- 28:40SPEAKER_03: So ceramides are part of our skin that we we also lose as we age and we need to put that back in.
- 28:47SPEAKER_03: So there are chemical lab versions of ceramides or nature's versions which are oils that are extremely high in ceramides.
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: So you're getting that you're also getting the essential fatty acids you're getting the antioxidants they're really amazing and oil works with oil too so if you put something drying on your skin it will you know work to counteract that and produce more oil.
- 29:10SPEAKER_02: So it's really quite remarkable how amazing oils are yeah no I'm a huge fan of oils you know in the sense of like I in terms of history you know I've said this many times on the podcast tonight and I'm a strong believer in it you know if you look at eastern cultures you look at Mediterranean cultures there's a lot of use of oils and it's been there for centuries now.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: So you know you can't go wrong when something's been used for centuries right it's it's obviously work.
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: And we we are from nature and oils are from nature like it we work together quite well versus man-made things in a lab that you know reproduce what an oil would be like exactly and I actually read a paper Angela like about how there were um certain oils that help um in the delivery of actives deeper into your skin uh layer and I think that's something that people are kind of catching up on but because you know you're seeing a lot more I guess oil-based products in the space and I and I and I think people are finally starting to realize that this is how you properly use an oil.
- 30:11SPEAKER_02: So I want to I want you to tell us you know what's the best way to use an oil product because I noticed that you don't have like a typical cleanser you know in your line like where it's just like a like a water soluble cleanser.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: You have your um anti-pollution cleansing oil and then you have the serum so can you tell us about that?
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah I mean you know oils like we said get such a bad wrap and they're so good for your skin and they're not going to congest your skin which is the misinformation that's that's out there.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: And it just it just works with your skin it's delivering the essential fatty acids and it's just giving your skin what it needs.
- 30:46SPEAKER_03: It works with it.
- 30:47SPEAKER_03: And as we age we lose a lot of our sebum production and the the oils in my lipid lock the metafoam seed oil is almost the same molecular structure as our own sebum.
- 30:57SPEAKER_03: So it is a carrier to bring all of the other ingredients deeper into your skin.
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: When something is recognized bioidentical it can bring everything down deep into the skin because it's like your sebum it's like hey come on in welcome so it's helping to deliver all of these yummy ingredients deep into your skin without congesting but actually giving you what you what you lose as you age that's why we look drier and more dull and our skin is lackluster.
- 31:22SPEAKER_03: This is my secret to having beautiful skin it's just that simple it's just less is more use high quality ingredients use organic oils that are sourced from all over the world which is what we do high quality that less is more and just work with your skin, you know, not against it which is one of my taglines.
- 31:38SPEAKER_03: It's like skincare it should work with your skin not against your skin.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: Absolutely and I love that you have marula oil um as one of the key ones because for me marula oil has been like this holy grail product.
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna lie I mean you know I remember a year or two back I had a very close friend of mine and she had this terrible um I guess reaction you could say and and she was like I don't know what to do I've tried everything.
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: She was putting on creams she was doing all this and I was like honestly the only thing that ever works for me when I have a seriously bad inflammatory reaction is marula oil.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: And it's anti-inflammatory.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: It's got this incredibly strong anti-inflammatory component.
- 32:20SPEAKER_02: So I want you to tell us about that this idea of anti-inflammation when it comes to skin health because I think people are very confused about that.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: But when I look at your line that's what I see is this you know you're you're it's anti-inflammatory and then you're building with the souffle moisturizer that has the all those wonderful ingredients.
- 32:39SPEAKER_03: Exactly and that is why I put the marula oil as the main ingredient of my cleansing oil because it's anti-inflammatory.
- 32:45SPEAKER_03: So your skin is never red after your cleanse it has this beautiful it just feels like it's just clean every everything is removed but it's calm there's no redness and there's no dryness.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: I just wanted to create everything anti-inflammatory because the rose quartz crystals are cold and when you're using them whether it's my eye mask, my full face or even with my new LED mask there's rose quartz crystals in there.
- 33:08SPEAKER_03: It's all anti-inflammatory to calm and nourish your lipid barrier of your skin and that is what we need to do because you know our skin is our largest organ.
- 33:19SPEAKER_03: And you would never put all these crazy things or do these crazy treatments that you're doing on like your liver.
- 33:25SPEAKER_03: I mean we're just doing way too much on our organ and we need to start caring for it more protecting it more and uh making it you know obviously less you know inflammatory just caring for it.
- 33:37SPEAKER_03: Absolutely and I you know I want to actually ask you because I know there are some things that are not in your line and I'm very curious because and and based on your your experience you know over the over the last two decades about um like for example acids and peels what is your opinion around that you know um how much should we doing should we be doing peels should we be using acids um yeah it's funny it's funny you mention that I um I'm launching a new product within two months uh it does have uh a balanced formula so it is there is glycolic in it but I also have you know elderberry niacinamide so I I balance my formulas to where it's not the pH is still balanced but you're still getting your exfoliation uh I prefer acids I use uh lactic acid peel in my treatment rooms I I do acids I prefer that over anything granular because you can cause little micro tears if you press too hard if they're not perfectly spherical.
- 34:34SPEAKER_03: I'm a big fan of chemical acids but I'm not a big fan of so many formulas out there that aren't balanced and I am a gradual person.
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: So I don't want someone to put something on that's going to strip their skin and they get this immediate feel of like yeah I just did an at-home peel.
- 34:51SPEAKER_03: This is amazing and their skin is so messed up and they have to keep doing other things on top to heal it.
- 34:56SPEAKER_03: I would rather have a balanced formula that you use four times a week at night to where you don't have that moment of my skin is so sensitized.
- 35:04SPEAKER_02: And you're doing it in a gradual way which is skin health healthier for your skin right that makes sense no I'm a I'm one of those people like I'll do a peel once in a while but it's like it they still scare me I'm not gonna lie yeah like they still scare me like the idea of like this home peel thing it it's still scary.
- 35:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah uh go to go to your esthetician uh get it done once a month like a 30% lactic acid peel that's all you need get the regular facial have her do the stuff but these at-home strong peels and and I know I know my clients I know a lot of they just don't know when to stop and what happens is they'll do it one night and then they'll it'll be great their skin will look amazing or even the toners that are really acid peels that people are calling toners but they're acid peels and the the directions will say you know use morning and night or they'll use it once or twice and they'll get a great result but they think they're gonna get that same result if they keep doing it like four times a week and they're just making their skin more raw and sensitized.
- 36:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah and like thinning it out you know thinning it out.
- 36:06SPEAKER_02: It's such a it's such an issue because um I think I had like a I had somebody reach out to me uh and they were talking about you know well I've been doing all this you know I have a great skincare routine but my skin just keeps getting thinner and thinner and I'm like well what are you doing?
- 36:22SPEAKER_02: And they're like well you know I use a a regular peel and I use the right I'm like okay yeah that's automatically like you're you're making me I feel you I'm the same yeah so you know in terms of like the future um Angela I would love to hear about what you think you know in terms of where your brand is going where you think skincare um you know brands are going and skin health is going like what do you see in the future like what you know what consumers are gravitating towards well I think the consumers are are being more they're more and more educated these days which is great they're still overwhelmed because it's the wild west in the skincare business.
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: I've never seen anything like it.
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: If another influencer drops a line or actor it's just like wow okay so there's just there's so much money to be made that everyone's jumping on board um this whole industry.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: So as consumers you have to be very careful and really it's all about reading the the ingredient decks, you know, getting comfortable it's like when you go to a restaurant and you order a meal, a pasta for example, you're gonna look and see exactly what's in that pasta because you're gonna digest and eat it.
- 37:25SPEAKER_03: The same thing I hope will be with skincare to where they're turning it around before purchasing it, especially if it's like a$500 item or a$600 item of skincare, a serum or anything I find that those are the ones that actually have the worst ingredients in them, believe it or not.
- 37:41SPEAKER_03: And it's just filled with fragrance, silicones and things that really aren't skin care or skin health.
- 37:47SPEAKER_03: So I think the customer is going to get smarter and um you know brands are going to have to step up they're really going to have to step and and the FDA is going to have to step up too with regulating some stuff.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah absolutely I 100% agree with you I I think that there needs to be definitely a lot more regulation.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: But you know till we get there I think you know trusting experts is the best we can do.
- 38:11SPEAKER_02: And you know I hopefully everyone listening um you know that's what you take away from this podcast is every guest that comes on here is someone you know that you can trust and especially you know with Angela's line you know definitely go check it out.
