- 1:49Sean McAllister: Super easy to send us your thoughts, feedback, ideas, uh, just anything random uh that comes to your mind while you're listening to the podcast.
- 1:59Sean McAllister: Go ahead and click that link.
- 2:00Sean McAllister: Um, and we've got a couple pieces of fan mail.
- 2:04Sean McAllister: Uh, we're gonna save one for a little later in the show.
- 2:07Sean McAllister: Um, but we're but first of all, let's get to Lisa from Southern California, um, who loved our segment about swingers, the new crazy golf complex over there at Mandalay Bay.
- 2:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah, she says, hello, your swingers segment makes me laugh because a few years ago my husband and I were propositioned by swingers at Mandalay Bay.
- 2:29Dayna Roselli: We politely declined, by the way.
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: Uh, she says, anyway, I've been listening to uh you guys for about a year and I love your show.
- 2:36Dayna Roselli: So thank you, Lisa.
- 2:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, swingers is the name of the golf attraction, but it has nothing to do with swingers, but it's just a catchy, catchy name.
- 2:47Sean McAllister: I'm so intrigued.
- 2:48Sean McAllister: I have so many questions for Lisa.
- 2:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 2:50Sean McAllister: Like, how does that all go down?
- 2:52Sean McAllister: Are you just hanging at the bar and people are like, hey, do you want to come back to the room with me and my husband?
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: I feel like I've heard this story over and over through the years.
- 3:03Dayna Roselli: Like friends are like, oh, these people, and they were stringer swingers, and they kind of thought, you know, like, like not like full-on detailed stories, but you can kind of tell that that's what they're thinking and why they're being super friendly.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 3:17Sean McAllister: You know how so there's like a a a sign for swingers, the upside down pineapple.
- 3:22Sean McAllister: That's like the signal, especially on cruise ships.
- 3:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, but I was just reading that there are some cruise lines that are banning the upside down pineapple because people will put like magnets or stickers on their cabin door so people know where the swingers are.
- 3:38Sean McAllister: And then I guess you just knock and see if someone's home.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: That's why we got a couple pineapple emojis under our swingers reel that we put on Instagram.
- 3:47Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 3:48Dayna Roselli: And I only knew what it meant because you told me that story.
- 3:52Dayna Roselli: Where do they come up with a pineapple?
- 3:53Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 3:54Dayna Roselli: I have a t-shirt that has a pineapple on it, and I wear it sometimes.
- 3:57Dayna Roselli: And I always wondered why people look at me weird.
- 4:00Sean McAllister: There I go, that Roselli.
- 4:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, she's swinging.
- 4:03Sean McAllister: She's a wild one.
- 4:05Dayna Roselli: But to swing, you need a partner, don't you?
- 4:07Dayna Roselli: And and I don't have that.
- 4:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, true.
- 4:09Sean McAllister: True.
- 4:10Dayna Roselli: Um, listen, we appreciate you, Lisa.
- 4:13Dayna Roselli: We've got another message we'll read a little bit later, like Sean said, because it has to do with a certain topic.
- 4:18Dayna Roselli: But let's talk about Jason Aldean's new bar and restaurant that just opened over there at 63 City Center, which is right next to that ocean prime area.
- 4:27Dayna Roselli: It is just to the south of the cosmopolitan, right in front of Aria and Crystals, a great spot in the heart of the strip.
- 4:34Dayna Roselli: And we were there for the ribbon cutting and we interviewed Jason.
- 4:39Dayna Roselli: Uh, this is two floors.
- 4:40Dayna Roselli: It's got a beautiful terrace, it has six bars, two stages.
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: He did a little performance that night.
- 4:46Dayna Roselli: And I mean, as I was there, Sean, I said to you, this is just gonna, and and it's not like I don't want to say it's not about money, but I mean, this is just gonna rake in the dollar.
- 4:56Sean McAllister: Oh, it's I mean, first of all, it's a huge space.
- 4:59Sean McAllister: It is, and it's so well done.
- 5:02Sean McAllister: They did a great job uh constructing it and putting it all together.
- 5:06Sean McAllister: There's a lot of foot traffic that goes right by there.
- 5:10Sean McAllister: So, you know, as they have live music, you're gonna hear it walking by and be like, oh, well, maybe I'll stop in for a drink or for some food.
- 5:18Sean McAllister: And uh it is, it's gonna be fantastic.
- 5:22Sean McAllister: And that patio, yeah, what a view.
- 5:25Sean McAllister: It's like a panoramic view right there at you know, Harmon and Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 5:31Sean McAllister: So you've got a incredible vista.
- 5:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and we went to the the ribbon cutting and it was a beautiful night.
- 5:37Dayna Roselli: We've had beautiful weather here in Las Vegas, and so that's the great thing.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: We always say, more patios, bring on the patios, because patio weather is uh happening all the time here in Las Vegas, even when we think it's gonna be cold.
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: We'll have a great, beautiful week at night or in the day with the sun shining.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: Um, but yeah, I just mean like it's so beautiful and so uh just appealing the whole thing and the whole experience that I know it's gonna just, you know, just clean up with people coming through the doors, having dinners there, having cocktails.
- 6:07Dayna Roselli: It's like it's just gonna be successful.
- 6:10Dayna Roselli: Let's put it that way.
- 6:11Sean McAllister: And with Jason Aldean's name attached to it, that's gonna, you know, just add to the to the level of people wanting to get in.
- 6:20Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 6:21Sean McAllister: You know, there was a line wrapped around the side of the building uh at that grand open there was a grand opening party, and then at like eight o'clock that night, uh it was open to the public, and there was a line of people waiting to get in.
- 6:34Sean McAllister: There were so many people who stopped along that that walkway to, you know, see Jason cutting the ribbon uh at the doorway, and it was a it was a scene over there.
- 6:45Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: People gathered just you're like you said, just to see the ribbon cutting part of it.
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: He was presented with a a key to the strip.
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: They proclaimed that day Jason Aldean Day.
- 6:57Dayna Roselli: It was quite a moment.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: Um, he had, you know, family there.
- 7:01Dayna Roselli: And so, you know, a a large portion of the people that were there for the ribbon cutting were actually survivors from the Route 91 shooting that happened here in 2017 on October 1st.
- 7:11Dayna Roselli: Uh, and they have a special connection to Jason because he was on stage when that shooting went down.
- 7:16Dayna Roselli: And um, he's really embraced Las Vegas.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: He's come back and done shows, he's uh talked to those people.
- 7:23Dayna Roselli: He makes he makes an effort, you know, to bond with them, and I think that's really nice.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: Yeah, and you could tell we were we were talking with uh a lot of the people who were who were there to see Jason, who were also at the concert that night, and uh they said, you know, he really helped them heal and move forward from I mean something that was obviously uh an incredibly uh traumatic and tragic event, but uh you do have to move on and live your life and go forward.
- 7:56Sean McAllister: And they say that that Jason and his music really did help them do that.
- 8:01Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 8:01Dayna Roselli: And he made a a special hallway inside, and it's beautiful, you know, as a tribute to that festival, uh, the survivors, the the family members who lost loved ones, because sadly there were so many people that died that day.
- 8:16Dayna Roselli: Um but the way he did it, it's just it's beautiful and very moving.
- 8:21Dayna Roselli: And they know that, and I think they appreciate that.
- 8:24Dayna Roselli: Um, you did an interview with Jason.
- 8:25Dayna Roselli: Uh, we got to pull him aside while he was on the red carpet taking some pictures, and you talked to him about all this stuff.
- 8:32Dayna Roselli: Um, you know, first talking to him a little bit about, you know, hey, what took so long to get to Vegas, but um, and open something, but then you did also discuss how, you know, this it's meaningful to him.
- 8:44Sean McAllister: Jason, good to see you again, man.
- 8:46Sean McAllister: How you been?
- 8:46Sean McAllister: I'm good, I'm good.
- 8:47Sean McAllister: So listen, what took so long to get a spot here in Vegas?
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, we've been working on this now for a couple years, so it's uh obviously the Nashville bar doing as well as it did, kind of lit the views for all the others.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: And um Gatlinburg came, which is doing really well, Pittsburgh, and now you know, a couple years ago we started doing talking about Vegas, and um, you know, just I was blown away.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: You know, the twenty years ago I would have never thought when I started this business that something like this would be happening in uh in Las Vegas, which is the home of entertainment really, you know, one of the biggest entertainment cities in the world, and it's gonna have a place here with my name on it for people to come and check it out and be able to give artists, you know, young artists a place and coming in and playing music, started playing in bars at 14.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: So to me that's really cool, and um I don't know, man.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: It's it's been uh it's an honor to be here and and the way that the city's kind of embraced us and accepted us here is is uh is pretty crazy, so it's it's been awesome.
- 9:43Sean McAllister: And and speaking of being embraced and accepted after one October, I mean, you're doing you have something special here inside.
- 9:51Sean McAllister: Uh talk about that.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the first thing out of my mouth we started talking about a bar here once like men as you know, we're gonna have a root many woman spot, we're gonna have something as a must have remembrance for the madden, you know, because I don't think like anybody.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: I mean it's something that's a moment in that and um you move them on you come in with their mind for the most part.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: Something that's always there, there's a lot of people I mean looking around, there's people up here in the root many women's turns.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Um, it's just a big family, man, and a lot of people come here from out of town that were part of that, and people that live here were part of that, and so you know, I want this to be a place where they come and maybe meet some other people that were there that night, and kinda I don't know, it's just uh it's a cool family to have and kind of be a part of them, and I just want to make sure we recognize that.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: And that was the very first thing I said when they mentioned Las Vegas.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: I was like, well, we gotta make something epic for them.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: And and uh so we did this big big mural in there that's um kind of a nod to that and and at least lets people go over and check it out and and know that hey, we're we're always thinking about them, you know what I mean.
- 10:53Dayna Roselli: And when we were talking with some of those Route 91 survivors after just chatting, um I was curious, and you were curious, as a longtime Las Vegas residents, um, longtime broadcasters.
- 11:04Dayna Roselli: We were both in the news business when this shooting happened and and covered it, and obviously part of the community, like what how they felt about this Christmas festival that they're holding on the Route 91 festival site, because nothing's really been held there, you know, or taken, you know, nothing's taken place, no events or anything um in a long time.
- 11:25Dayna Roselli: And I I thought they would say, uh, we feel weird about it, but they said, you know, mixed feelings.
- 11:31Dayna Roselli: But a lot of them said, you know what?
- 11:33Dayna Roselli: We're kind of okay with it because we were there to have a good time.
- 11:37Dayna Roselli: It was a joyous day until that moment.
- 11:40Dayna Roselli: We bonded since, and they want to bring happiness to that site again.
- 11:45Dayna Roselli: So I thought that was interesting.
- 11:47Sean McAllister: Yeah, and they said, you know, kind of if you if you leave it empty and do nothing with it, it's kind of like the the the evil wins.
- 11:56Sean McAllister: Right.
- 11:56Sean McAllister: You know, but you know, if there can be joy brought to that site again, then um, you know, they were in support of it.
- 12:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, which which I thought was really interesting, and it was it was good to hear their take.
- 12:07Dayna Roselli: And I was glad to hear that because I had mixed feelings about it, and I was like, I don't know if I can support this.
- 12:13Dayna Roselli: This feels odd, it feels weird.
- 12:15Dayna Roselli: And I also know that you know, this happened on the Las Vegas strip.
- 12:19Dayna Roselli: There's a lot of tourists that come into town that walk by that area.
- 12:23Dayna Roselli: Um, maybe they don't have the deep um like the connection, the emotional investment that we do as locals, yeah.
- 12:31Dayna Roselli: And you know, obviously so many people were there from outside of Las Vegas too.
- 12:35Dayna Roselli: So, and some of the people we talked to were in from Southern California and all that kind of thing.
- 12:39Dayna Roselli: So anyway, it was good to hear that they were okay with it.
- 12:43Dayna Roselli: Uh that made me feel a little better, actually.
- 12:46Sean McAllister: So and it was it was good to see them there.
- 12:48Sean McAllister: Uh, you know, they said we're here to support Jason and uh Jason Aldean's kitchen and bar is going to be our meeting place now when we all get together around really around this time of year.
- 13:02Sean McAllister: They have a big group of them get together right around uh National Finals rodeo time and they said this is gonna be our spot, and we love it.
- 13:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that's so great.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: So Jason Aldean's officially open if you want to go check it out.
- 13:17Dayna Roselli: Uh keeping with the happy uh theme and and uh feelings of the holiday, let's talk about Barry Manilo's holiday show.
- 13:24Dayna Roselli: You went over there to the Westgate to see it.
- 13:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, saw a very berry Christmas.
- 13:29Sean McAllister: It's uh running for a limited time over there at uh the Westgate inside the International Theater where Elvis famously performed his record number of sold-out shows, and Barry just brings the joy.
- 13:47Sean McAllister: Let me tell you, it's all every Christmas song that you want to hear, you're gonna hear.
- 13:53Sean McAllister: I love that.
- 13:53Sean McAllister: Santa makes an appearance, it snows, there's festive drinks, they have a berry teeny.
- 14:00Dayna Roselli: Ooh.
- 14:01Sean McAllister: And they have another.
- 14:02Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh, I'm kicking myself for not remembering the name of it now, but it's uh like a candy cane uh flavored drink.
- 14:11Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 14:12Sean McAllister: So they have special holiday cocktails at the bar that uh the property mixologist has put together.
- 14:18Dayna Roselli: That's fun.
- 14:18Sean McAllister: Um, so it is a very festive time at a very berry Christmas over there at Westgate.
- 14:26Sean McAllister: But that's not the only news that that Barry is making.
- 14:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 14:28Dayna Roselli: Uh, and real quick, I just want to mention if you want to see that holiday show, there's only three more days for it.
- 14:33Dayna Roselli: Uh the 12th, 13th, and 14th.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: Then he goes back to his normal show.
- 14:37Dayna Roselli: So if you wanna, if you're excited about what Sean's talking about, you gotta get there this weekend.
- 14:42Dayna Roselli: Okay, go ahead.
- 14:43Dayna Roselli: So you were just mentioning the big news item.
- 14:46Sean McAllister: Uh yeah, the big news item, uh, the Westgate offered Barry Manilo a lifetime residency over there at the property, and he accepted.
- 14:57Dayna Roselli: I love this.
- 14:58Sean McAllister: He even said up there on stage during the show we were at, he was like, Well, it looks like I'm gonna be performing here until I go.
- 15:06Dayna Roselli: But that's great.
- 15:07Dayna Roselli: When you have an iconic uh resident headliner at your property, I feel like they should all be offered lifetime residencies, right?
- 15:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:14Sean McAllister: Well, I remember over at uh when Caesars Palace had their 50 uh 50th anniversary celebration, Tony Bennett was over there as as part of that.
- 15:25Sean McAllister: And I was talking to him on the red carpet.
- 15:27Sean McAllister: I was like, Tony, you know, Caesars Palace offered you a lifetime contract to perform here, and now you're back for the 50th anniversary.
- 15:36Sean McAllister: That's gotta be a cool thing.
- 15:37Sean McAllister: He was like, Oh yeah, I performed here so many times over the years.
- 15:40Sean McAllister: Like, that's just a great thing to know that you're always welcome.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: It is, right?
- 15:45Dayna Roselli: And I mean, I'm sure like people like Celine, like have lifetime offers in in many ways, anywhere they want, but they have to like you know, be able to sign the contract on their end.
- 15:58Dayna Roselli: They they put maybe a limit on it.
- 15:59Dayna Roselli: But yeah, Barry's like, you know what, I'm in, and and let's do it.
- 16:03Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, he's got it's a good gig over there for him.
- 16:06Sean McAllister: Um there is no mistaking when you walk across the casino floor at Westgate that Barry Manilo is the resident headliner.
- 16:16Sean McAllister: Barry's everywhere.
- 16:17Sean McAllister: He is.
- 16:18Dayna Roselli: I see him sitting on my balcony.
- 16:19Dayna Roselli: He brightens up whenever it switches to the Barry Manilo, it brightens up the balcony.
- 16:24Dayna Roselli: Yes, because it's like this LED screen.
- 16:27Sean McAllister: And yeah, the Westgate is great.
- 16:29Sean McAllister: They've uh property wide, they've done some really great renovations over there.
- 16:33Sean McAllister: Um, and actually, before going to Barry's show, uh, I stopped over to uh Edge Steakhouse at Westgate.
- 16:43Sean McAllister: And we'll have more on that coming up in tips.
- 16:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's you've got some good tips for that one.
- 16:47Dayna Roselli: Um, hey, Paris, Las Vegas has a new pastry shop and more.
- 16:51Dayna Roselli: And we're talking about Dominique Ansell.
- 16:54Dayna Roselli: It's called Marche, and this is his second location.
- 16:58Dayna Roselli: He's got one at Caesar's Palace as well.
- 17:00Dayna Roselli: Um, and this is now officially opened.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: You know, um Dominique Ansell is the one who basically created the Cronut.
- 17:08Dayna Roselli: We've talked about this in the past.
- 17:09Dayna Roselli: It's a combination of a croissant and a donut, and it's very popular.
- 17:13Dayna Roselli: And let me tell you, they sent us um a box of different pastries.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: They were absolutely delicious to the point where I had to give some away to my front desk because I thought if I eat all these, I'm gonna be like 100 pounds.
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: They were so good.
- 17:26Sean McAllister: But they're just like, I don't know.
- 17:29Sean McAllister: I always think in my mind, when I look at like flaky pastry things, I always think that they're going to be dry, but they're not, they're so moist and fluffy and flaky with like ribbons of chocolate running through them.
- 17:47Sean McAllister: So they're not overly sweet, but you do get that bite of sweetness just to get that flavor in there.
- 17:55Sean McAllister: And I mean, there is such a wide variety of uh pastries that are available over there.
- 18:04Sean McAllister: And Dominique Ansel is fantastic.
- 18:06Sean McAllister: Croissants, donuts, and it's a cafe too, so they have more than just uh pastries.
- 18:11Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 18:12Dayna Roselli: So it's gonna offer the signature pastries, or it does, because it's open now, I should say.
- 18:16Dayna Roselli: Um, but they also have uh some new savory items only available at the Paris location, such as rotisserie chicken, crepes, and sandwiches.
- 18:27Sean McAllister: Yum.
- 18:27Dayna Roselli: So that's gonna be great and a beautiful fit right where it is on that walkway at Paris with the kind of cobblestone y feel the Paris walkway with all the other restaurants there and then.
- 18:36Sean McAllister: He's kind of neighbors with uh Martha Stewart.
- 18:39Sean McAllister: Right.
- 18:39Sean McAllister: And Chef Nobu.
- 18:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 18:41Sean McAllister: That's good company to keep.
- 18:43Dayna Roselli: It's a good, it's a good row.
- 18:45Dayna Roselli: So that was great um that that's officially open.
- 18:47Dayna Roselli: They they cut the ribbon.
- 18:49Dayna Roselli: And so if you want to go over there and check that out, it's now open at Paris, Las Vegas.
- 18:53Sean McAllister: Hey, you know, last week, if you listened, uh, you know that Dana and I did the podcast separately.
- 18:59Sean McAllister: Right.
- 19:00Sean McAllister: We we did it remotely because I had a little bit of a cold and I didn't want to get Dana sick because she was going up north across the border to Vancouver, Canada for the final weekend of Taylor Swift's ERA's tour.
- 19:16Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 19:16Sean McAllister: And you are now back, Dana.
- 19:18Sean McAllister: We are back together, and I have some questions for you.
- 19:21Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 19:22Dayna Roselli: Well, do you want to just start with that?
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: I mean, it was a great weekend.
- 19:24Dayna Roselli: I'm still recovering.
- 19:25Dayna Roselli: It was so much fun.
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: It was like 48 plus hours, like 48-ish hours of fun.
- 19:30Dayna Roselli: So go ahead.
- 19:31Sean McAllister: And it was jam-packed too.
- 19:33Sean McAllister: I already kind of got the lowdown, but I've got some questions for you.
- 19:36Sean McAllister: First of all, uh, starting with your travel.
- 19:39Sean McAllister: So you mentioned that you were taking Flare Airlines for the first time.
- 19:44Sean McAllister: You weren't sure how it was gonna go.
- 19:46Sean McAllister: You talked to a pilot in the lobby of your building who was like, oh, Flare Airlines.
- 19:51Sean McAllister: So I'm curious, what was that experience like?
- 19:55Dayna Roselli: Well, it's a budget airline.
- 19:56Dayna Roselli: So um, I wasn't sure.
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: I was like, uh, but I mean, like, we I take a lot of budget airlines, but I just had never heard of Flair, you know?
- 20:02Dayna Roselli: Um, so anyway, let me just uh give you a quick rundown.
- 20:05Dayna Roselli: First of all, our flight on Friday was a little bit delayed, but the positive is they communicated so well.
- 20:12Dayna Roselli: I got an email, I got a text message, and I got a the reason why it was delayed, which was the inbound plane was experiencing some weather.
- 20:22Dayna Roselli: Don't worry, we're we're just delayed.
- 20:25Dayna Roselli: We're gonna do everything in our power to get the plane there.
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: And I love knowing that instead of wondering, like, well, okay, where do I, where does this stand?
- 20:32Sean McAllister: Well, and I think that's where the frustration comes in so many times is that you're like left in the dark.
- 20:37Sean McAllister: You know, you see that something is delayed, and it's like, well, delayed by how much?
- 20:42Sean McAllister: Why?
- 20:42Sean McAllister: How how late am I gonna get there?
- 20:44Sean McAllister: What's going on?
- 20:45Sean McAllister: Right.
- 20:45Sean McAllister: So that's cool that they do that.
- 20:47Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 20:47Dayna Roselli: And you know, and usually, yeah, you're hopping on Google trying to figure out whatever.
- 20:51Dayna Roselli: Um, now, as a backup, here's a tip, and this is outside of Flair, but I went on Expedia and booked an Air Canada flight the following morning at 7.50 in the morning because I got nervous that if this got canceled, we weren't gonna be able to get there.
- 21:04Dayna Roselli: And we already had tickets to Taylor's Saturday night show.
- 21:08Dayna Roselli: And I was like, I am not missing this.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: No way.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: So, but the here's the great thing that ticket, because it was last minute, was very expensive.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: It was$1,000 each.
- 21:16Dayna Roselli: And I was like, Well, I hope I don't have to spend this, but you know what?
- 21:18Dayna Roselli: If I do, Taylor's worth it.
- 21:20Dayna Roselli: Not missing it.
- 21:21Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 21:21Dayna Roselli: So anyway, um, but the great thing about Expedia is you can book anything and then cancel within 24 hours.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: And I don't know if people know that.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: I've done it my whole know that.
- 21:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, my whole life, um, especially when I worked in the news business, because we would wait for that form of a vacation approval to get put on our desk.
- 21:39Dayna Roselli: You'd bother and hey, do you know the do you know yet?
- 21:42Dayna Roselli: And so sometimes I would find a great deal, I would book it.
- 21:45Dayna Roselli: And then if I didn't go to went to work and they didn't have an answer for me, I'd cancel and then do it again and then cancel.
- 21:51Dayna Roselli: So anyway, I booked Air Canada.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: And once Flair, uh, I was on the plane, I just hit cancel and it was like, you've been refunded.
- 21:58Dayna Roselli: So it's a great backup plan if you ever write.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah, great tip if you run through that.
- 22:02Dayna Roselli: Um, Flare Airlines, we got there and they were so nice.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: The desk, um, I had a little discrepancy.
- 22:08Dayna Roselli: They don't let you put a dash in your name for um uh matching the passport in the airline.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: So they were so great at fixing that.
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: Um, and they were joking around with them.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: I was like, listen, my my luggage needs to get to Vancouver.
- 22:19Dayna Roselli: I need my outfit, I need my stuff.
- 22:21Dayna Roselli: I'm going to a concert.
- 22:22Dayna Roselli: I'm like, okay, great, we'll send it right off to Calgary.
- 22:24Dayna Roselli: And I was like, no.
- 22:25Dayna Roselli: And they were just making jokes and like they were so fun.
- 22:28Dayna Roselli: Um and I was like, how is it looking with this plane getting off?
- 22:31Dayna Roselli: And they're like, we're we're looking good, you know?
- 22:33Dayna Roselli: Um, so that was great.
- 22:34Dayna Roselli: Went through uh security.
- 22:36Dayna Roselli: The folks on Flare Airlines uh getting us on the plane were so fun and so nice.
- 22:42Dayna Roselli: But here's uh a wonderful thing that we were surprised at is that they come around with a cart and you can order, like, there's like a full-on menu on Flare Airlines, and who would have thought?
- 22:53Dayna Roselli: You have to buy it, but it wasn't super expensive or that inflated.
- 22:57Dayna Roselli: And there was Sean, pesto pizza, um, cheese boards with pair, and then they had specials like pair it with a can of white wine, and um, they had sandwiches, sandwich of the day.
- 23:09Dayna Roselli: I was like, this is amazing.
- 23:11Sean McAllister: That's incredible.
- 23:12Sean McAllister: So, way more than just getting like a little bag of crackers or cookies.
- 23:17Sean McAllister: You could get whatever you wanted, and and a wide variety of drinks, too.
- 23:21Sean McAllister: And that kind of brings us to our second fan mail that we promised you.
- 23:26Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 23:27Sean McAllister: Because it is about what is offered on planes.
- 23:30Dayna Roselli: Well, kind of.
- 23:31Dayna Roselli: So last week, was it last week?
- 23:32Dayna Roselli: Last week.
- 23:33Dayna Roselli: We talked about something about, you know, oh, you can get a drink on the plane.
- 23:36Dayna Roselli: And I was like, I don't drink on planes, I don't really drink.
- 23:39Sean McAllister: And I said, What?
- 23:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and you were shocked.
- 23:42Dayna Roselli: So uh we did get we got a note in from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, text message of fan mail.
- 23:49Dayna Roselli: Um, and he said, uh, the utter shock and genuine disbelief by Sean when he found out that Dana didn't drink from planes and laughing emoji.
- 23:58Dayna Roselli: So he thought that was funny.
- 23:59Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 23:59Dayna Roselli: So here's the deal.
- 24:01Dayna Roselli: Uh I was getting excited to go to Taylor.
- 24:03Dayna Roselli: We were on the plane, all the Swifties were around us.
- 24:06Dayna Roselli: It was such a good vibe that Swifties are the kindest people, they are fun, uh, they're they're just positive energy all around you.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: And I thought, you know what?
- 24:15Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna have a can of wine because the guy on the plane uh was trying to tell me that the red wine in a can is actually really good.
- 24:25Dayna Roselli: He's like, you should really try it.
- 24:26Dayna Roselli: And I was like, all right.
- 24:27Dayna Roselli: And he's like, but if you don't like it, my name is Jose.
- 24:30Dayna Roselli: If you like it, it's Mackenzie.
- 24:32Dayna Roselli: And so they had us laughing.
- 24:34Dayna Roselli: So the whole row ended up getting uh red wine in a can.
- 24:37Dayna Roselli: We had a blast.
- 24:38Dayna Roselli: We did a little cheers to Taylor.
- 24:41Sean McAllister: So you ended up having a drink on a plane.
- 24:44Sean McAllister: I did.
- 24:45Dayna Roselli: So Kevin drank on the plane, Kevin in South Carolina.
- 24:48Sean McAllister: Dana is now an airplane drinker.
- 24:51Dayna Roselli: I thought of you.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: I thought Sean's gonna be proud of me.
- 24:54Dayna Roselli: Although my friend on the way home was like, Should we get a drink?
- 24:56Dayna Roselli: And I was like, No, I think that was enough on the way there.
- 24:58Sean McAllister: Just one, one and done.
- 25:00Dayna Roselli: One and done.
- 25:01Dayna Roselli: Um, so that's my experience with Flair.
- 25:03Dayna Roselli: Um, on the way back, it was wonderful.
- 25:05Dayna Roselli: They were like, hey, your two hour and 50-minute flight is now two hours.
- 25:08Dayna Roselli: So we took off at 4 15, landed at 6 15.
- 25:11Dayna Roselli: The Vancouver airport was great, the people were nice.
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: I went through security uh and customs with no problem.
- 25:17Dayna Roselli: Um, and uh there were a full plane of of people um leaving the concert, and we were just it was just it was great all around.
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: So, what's your other question?
- 25:27Sean McAllister: Well, my other question is just cutting straight to the to the chase.
- 25:32Sean McAllister: How was the Taylor concert?
- 25:34Dayna Roselli: It was wonderful.
- 25:35Dayna Roselli: Listen, it first of all, I just want to talk about Vancouver because um I know this is a Las Vegas podcast, but you know, as I just mentioned, two-hour flight, it was simple, and Flair Airlines was$176 a round trip.
- 25:48Dayna Roselli: Man, but you had to do some add-ons, your luggage and stuff.
- 25:51Dayna Roselli: I would say the total came to close to 300.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: It was like 280.
- 25:55Dayna Roselli: Not bad at all.
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: Too bad, no.
- 25:57Dayna Roselli: Two nonstop flights.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: So um, but it was an easy hop.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: Vancouver could the people there couldn't have been nicer.
- 26:03Dayna Roselli: They were so excited that Taylor was doing her final weekend of the Ares tour in that city because they knew what it meant that people were gonna flood in, they were gonna have a great time.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: Um, it was a great group of people.
- 26:15Dayna Roselli: Their energy is positive and kind, and they were ready for it in Taylor terms.
- 26:21Sean McAllister: Are you ready for it?
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: So um, they were thrilled.
- 26:24Dayna Roselli: And our Uber driver was like, you know what?
- 26:26Dayna Roselli: Like, I don't listen to Taylor Swift music, but I'm driving Uber all weekend and I love meeting everyone.
- 26:32Dayna Roselli: I love what this is doing for our city.
- 26:34Dayna Roselli: Uh, we're not gonna have something this big until the 2026 Olympics.
- 26:38Dayna Roselli: So we're embracing it.
- 26:39Dayna Roselli: And I just think this is awesome.
- 26:41Dayna Roselli: Um, there were people near our hotel like helping you, like, okay, if you you guys might want to, like, if you're gonna kill some time, go to Granville Island and you should take this bus or you could do Uber or you could take the Sky Tram.
- 26:52Dayna Roselli: They were just wonderful.
- 26:54Dayna Roselli: Um, the people at the restaurants, the servers were so kind.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: Our meal was a little late coming out.
- 27:01Dayna Roselli: I wouldn't even say I knew it was late because I'm just, you know, things take a little while.
- 27:05Dayna Roselli: And they were like, we're so sorry.
- 27:06Dayna Roselli: We're your whole lunch is comped.
- 27:08Sean McAllister: Jeez.
- 27:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they wanted everything to be perfect.
- 27:11Dayna Roselli: They were so nice.
- 27:12Dayna Roselli: There was a big Christmas market there.
- 27:14Dayna Roselli: Um, BC Place, the arena was amazing, uh, so organized.
- 27:19Dayna Roselli: The everyone was just in a great mood.
- 27:21Dayna Roselli: It was wonderful.
- 27:22Dayna Roselli: Even the police officers, the security, and she did Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- 27:27Dayna Roselli: So they really made a lot of money in that city.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: And there were, there have been world leaders writing to Taylor asking her to bring that tour to their city because they knew how much you know they could take in and what an economy boost it would be.
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: So um went to the merch line, uh, waited in line for an hour and a half, 15 minutes.
- 27:45Dayna Roselli: I've never done that before, but needed to get a sweatshirt for my friend's daughter, and I was like, I'm gonna do it.
- 27:49Dayna Roselli: Uh, that was fun.
- 27:50Dayna Roselli: Everyone around us was so nice.
- 27:52Dayna Roselli: I just can't um say enough.
- 27:54Dayna Roselli: Something that you pointed out though, you're like, it's so interesting that you know they really embrace it.
- 27:58Dayna Roselli: Obviously, it's not like a major, major tourism town because they don't have it as much as we do, but you were even saying, like, it's so nice to see people be positive when something comes in like that and takes over their city.
- 28:10Dayna Roselli: Because, you know, in Las Vegas, we are used to a lot of big events, but sometimes, and I know things that you know, with Formula One, there's so much gripe and complaint, and it's it's messing up the city and this and that.
- 28:22Dayna Roselli: And there, they didn't care, they were like, bring it on, bring it on, yeah.
- 28:27Dayna Roselli: Bring it on, enjoy our city, see what we can offer.
- 28:30Dayna Roselli: And someone like me, I'm gonna go back.
- 28:32Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 28:33Dayna Roselli: You know what I mean?
- 28:34Dayna Roselli: Now I'm like, okay, I'm gonna be back in Vancouver.
- 28:36Sean McAllister: They treated me right because it was a great experience, it was, and that's exactly what we want here in Las Vegas, too.
- 28:44Sean McAllister: We don't want visitors to come in and you know, see uh see us on social media complaining and bitching about this, that, and the other thing.
- 28:53Sean McAllister: Nope.
- 28:54Sean McAllister: Like, no, we are a tourism hospitality town, whether you work on the strip or you live here, like we are all a part of the hospitality of Las Vegas.
- 29:06Sean McAllister: Right.
- 29:06Sean McAllister: And make it a good experience for anyone who's coming here.
- 29:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and word of mouth, and in the world of social media, I mean, if everyone's talking about what a great time they had in Vancouver and how nice they were and what how the experience was, that's free advertising for the rest of the rest of the year or ever.
- 29:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 29:23Dayna Roselli: So um, and that's that's what it's doing.
- 29:25Dayna Roselli: And now people seeing all the, you know, even just the shots of the beautiful, you know, waterways and and all that.
- 29:31Dayna Roselli: So anyway, it was a great time.
- 29:32Dayna Roselli: I'm I'm trying to think if I left anything out that would be a good nugget for our listeners, but um, we covered Flair and Vancouver, and I think that's it for now.
- 29:40Dayna Roselli: You know, American money's worth more over there, so things were affordable.
- 29:44Dayna Roselli: That was uh joyous, you know, bought a couple things over there as well to save some money.
- 29:49Dayna Roselli: Um, but it was a good time all around.
- 29:51Sean McAllister: And they didn't jack up the prices.
- 29:53Dayna Roselli: Nope.
- 29:53Dayna Roselli: The prices were not, it was just normally what it would be.
- 29:56Dayna Roselli: So it wasn't like you got some bill and you're like, oh, this is you know double the amount it would be.
- 30:01Sean McAllister: There wasn't like a tailor surcharge added into things.
- 30:04Dayna Roselli: Nope, nothing.
- 30:05Sean McAllister: See?
- 30:06Sean McAllister: I like that.
- 30:06Sean McAllister: I like that.
- 30:07Sean McAllister: Well done, Vancouver.
- 30:09Dayna Roselli: There was, I think there might have been a tiny surge on Uber after the concert because but they had to do with the the Uber system and the concert as far as you know uh everyone letting out.
- 30:20Dayna Roselli: Everyone letting out at the same time, right?
- 30:22Dayna Roselli: And it was raining, so um, we actually waited like one hour, um, just had a drink at the bar next door, and um it was back down to I don't know, it's like sixteen dollars to go like 10 minutes down the road.
- 30:33Dayna Roselli: It's so so cheap, yeah.
- 30:34Dayna Roselli: Oh, side note, a couple sightings.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: Um, that's what I forgot about.
- 30:37Dayna Roselli: A couple Vegas people that were there.
- 30:38Dayna Roselli: Elizabeth Blau, who owns restaurants here in Las Vegas, big uh and abroad.
- 30:43Dayna Roselli: She has a honey salt and many other in Vancouver.
- 30:47Dayna Roselli: Um, right, and I went over there, right next to BC Place.
- 30:50Dayna Roselli: That's where it is, in the Marriott there, the park.
- 30:52Dayna Roselli: And the restaurant was great.
- 30:54Dayna Roselli: They had uh Taylor Swift themed cocktails and all that.
- 30:57Dayna Roselli: Um, went over there, and then I realized, oh my gosh, she was there too, because I was looking at her Instagram, we're Instagram friends.
- 31:03Dayna Roselli: So she went to the concert, um, raved about it.
- 31:05Dayna Roselli: I saw Flavor Flav in the airport.
- 31:08Dayna Roselli: He was on my flight home.
- 31:10Dayna Roselli: My friend was like, You keep talking to Flav, he's probably over it.
- 31:12Dayna Roselli: But so many people were talking to him um and passing him notes with friendship bracelets and wanting to trade.
- 31:18Dayna Roselli: He went to Taylor's concert, he's a huge supporter of her.
- 31:20Dayna Roselli: I think.
- 31:20Sean McAllister: He's a King Swifty.
- 31:22Dayna Roselli: He's a King Swifty.
- 31:23Dayna Roselli: When I saw him there, I thought, oh my gosh.
- 31:24Dayna Roselli: And he was in his full Tortured Poets Department album uh sweatsuit, one piece.
- 31:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he had his sweatshirt and sweatpants.
- 31:33Dayna Roselli: Um, so he he is just a fan.
- 31:36Dayna Roselli: He brought so much light and excitement to the plane.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: Everyone just loves him.
- 31:39Dayna Roselli: Um, so it was great to see Flav there.
- 31:41Dayna Roselli: He went to the final show on Sunday, and that was fun.
- 31:45Dayna Roselli: Uh ran into some friends actually that live in different cities that I met here in Las Vegas, and they were like, hey, we're here too.
- 31:52Dayna Roselli: And so it it was nice um to see a little bit of the connection there.
- 31:56Dayna Roselli: And then um, yeah, that's it.
- 31:58Sean McAllister: And then the show was fantastic.
- 32:00Sean McAllister: Taylor's great, and it's I might have cried a little bit.
- 32:04Dayna Roselli: Now it's done after the 10-minute all too well version that she does on guitar.
- 32:08Sean McAllister: But they were filming, you said.
- 32:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, the whole time.
- 32:11Dayna Roselli: Uh, there was definitely, you know, film crews on stage, uh cameras flying by, and I can't remember, but when I went to the show at Allegiant Stadium, I don't think that was the case, unless they've been filming the show the whole time.
- 32:24Dayna Roselli: But I think I've been noticing from the Swifties them saying too on social media, like, wow, they're really shooting something.
- 32:31Dayna Roselli: And I know they were planning to film the final weekend.
- 32:34Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 32:34Dayna Roselli: And so I don't know if that will turn into something or not.
- 32:38Dayna Roselli: I also think artists that bring in a lot of money, they're always making sure that things are documented and will use it in some way.
- 32:45Sean McAllister: Oh, absolutely.
- 32:46Dayna Roselli: Whether it's gonna be a documentary, another concert film, a behind the scenes a music video, because she's got a lot more songs that need to release music videos.
- 32:55Dayna Roselli: So we'll see.
- 32:56Dayna Roselli: Everyone was expecting some big announcement from her at the end.
- 32:58Dayna Roselli: I didn't think she would do anything.
- 33:00Dayna Roselli: I think, you know what?
- 33:00Dayna Roselli: She's gonna rest a little and then she needs to keep the momentum going, probably, and she'll probably announce some things, you know, in the future.
- 33:08Sean McAllister: A big drop coming a little later on.
- 33:10Dayna Roselli: Because she needs to do uh the reputation album, she needs to do uh Taylor's version, which is she's been uh re-recording all her albums so that she owns them.
- 33:18Dayna Roselli: And so that's the next one kind of on the schedule to come out.
- 33:20Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 33:21Dayna Roselli: All right, that's it.
- 33:22Sean McAllister: Well, good.
- 33:22Sean McAllister: So I'm glad that Taylor was a great experience.
- 33:26Sean McAllister: Flare Airlines was a great experience with an expansive menu.
- 33:30Dayna Roselli: Yep, I love that menu.
- 33:31Sean McAllister: And Vancouver was good to you too.
- 33:33Dayna Roselli: Yes, all good.
- 33:35Dayna Roselli: All right, let's move on.
- 33:36Dayna Roselli: Another, just a quick nugget, an overseas nugget.
- 33:38Dayna Roselli: Um, my friend and longtime Las Vegas headliner Mac Goss is doing a tour that he just announced, and tickets just went on sale for he's doing a UK tour.
- 33:49Dayna Roselli: So if you're over there uh across the pond, he's doing a slew of shows this spring.
- 33:54Dayna Roselli: And, you know, it's like Mac Goss and all the hits, the hits and more.
- 33:58Dayna Roselli: He's gonna do a blend of a bunch of different stuff.
- 34:01Dayna Roselli: I know he's really excited to get out there, and uh, I think it's you know, like uh shows, you know, in London and then all around the UK, like uh Ireland and Scotland and all that kind of thing.
- 34:13Dayna Roselli: So anyway, uh can't talk highly enough.
- 34:16Dayna Roselli: I've seen Matt's show a million times.
- 34:18Dayna Roselli: He's a great singer, great showman, great performer.
- 34:21Dayna Roselli: If you're interested in that, tickets are on sale on Ticketmaster.
- 34:24Sean McAllister: And kind of hopping back into the holidays really quick, uh, Dana, you and I are headed over to the uh Fashion Show Mall, which is right there on the Las Vegas strip across the street from uh the Wynne and Palazzo.
- 34:38Sean McAllister: Uh we're going to Neiman Marcus for uh a sip and shop event with Fashion Santa.
- 34:46Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 34:46Sean McAllister: Now this is not the mall Santa that you are thinking of.
- 34:52Sean McAllister: This is a very fashionable, very handsome Santa.
- 34:57Sean McAllister: I picture him as have you seen the Target commercial where Santa gets out of his Jeep and walks into Target and he's just a a very um dapper.
- 35:06Sean McAllister: Very dapper Santa.
- 35:08Sean McAllister: I haven't, but I think that uh Neiman Marcus Fashion Santa is going to take Target Santa up a few notches.
- 35:18Dayna Roselli: Okay, okay.
- 35:19Dayna Roselli: Well, watch our social media for what Fashion Santa looks like.
- 35:22Sean McAllister: So we're excited to head over and see about that.
- 35:25Dayna Roselli: We're doing a little VIP uh gift preview, then it opens to the public.
- 35:28Dayna Roselli: Um I went over to Fashion Show just before my trip to get a few things, and I just noticed that like they I feel like the Christmas decorations and holiday decorations this year are really extra beautiful.
- 35:39Dayna Roselli: It's decorated.
- 35:40Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 35:40Dayna Roselli: I loved it.
- 35:41Dayna Roselli: I loved shopping over there.
- 35:42Dayna Roselli: I love Fashion Show.
- 35:44Dayna Roselli: And uh yeah, if you want to get in the holiday spirit and go to a mall, um, the decor is really, really cool there.
- 35:50Dayna Roselli: And then they have a Santa too that you can take pictures, like the regular Santa as well.
- 35:54Sean McAllister: And Fashion Show has has done a great job um over the past, I'd say, year, year and a half or so of really uh putting in some great seasonal installations that are you know great for your Instagram feed and that just make the the shopping experience more fun and interactive.
- 36:14Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 36:15Sean McAllister: So um kudos uh to Fashion Show for doing that.
- 36:20Dayna Roselli: Um keeping with the holiday theme, I wanted to mention Frank Marino, um, who's had a long time show on the Las Vegas strip and now does shows over at Virgin.
- 36:29Dayna Roselli: Um, you may remember him from Lacage and Diva's Las Vegas.
- 36:33Dayna Roselli: He's he's um impersonated uh Joan Rivers for many, many years.
- 36:39Dayna Roselli: Uh he's a great funny comedian.
- 36:42Dayna Roselli: Anyway, he's doing a Diva Licious holiday brunch for dinner on December 21st at 6 p.m.
- 36:50Dayna Roselli: is dinner, 7 p.m.
- 36:52Dayna Roselli: show, and it's over there at DW Bistro, which is off the strip, all the way out in the west side, but it's a great place for brunch or dinner, and they're gonna be closing soon.
- 37:03Dayna Roselli: They announced um I they're making some changes and uh they're shutting down DW and they've been there for so long.
- 37:10Dayna Roselli: So if you have never been able to get there, now could be the time.
- 37:13Dayna Roselli: Um, yeah, Frank's dinner show is$69.
- 37:16Dayna Roselli: It includes a the dinner and the show, and so uh reservations can be made at dwbeistro.com if you want to go see Frank and all the divas.
- 37:26Dayna Roselli: They put on a great show.
- 37:27Dayna Roselli: I went recently to a brunch and they've got the shares and the the Lizzo and all of them.
- 37:33Dayna Roselli: You know, Celine, it's great.
- 37:35Dayna Roselli: They all kind of work the room around you, it's a lot of fun.
- 37:38Sean McAllister: Yeah, the the drag shows are great.
- 37:41Sean McAllister: DW, as you mentioned, has been in the Las Vegas community for years and years and years, and the vibe there is great.
- 37:49Sean McAllister: It's great, the food is great.
- 37:51Sean McAllister: So um head over to the the drag dinner, and then uh if you haven't been to DW, they're going to be open uh through the spring.
- 38:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, but then that's the the final farewell.
- 38:04Sean McAllister: So plan on that.
- 38:05Dayna Roselli: Hey, before we get to our tips, I wanted to give a big shout out to Level Up Law, our title sponsor.

- 38:42Sean McAllister: Let's do some tips.
- 38:47Sean McAllister: All right, Dana.
- 38:48Sean McAllister: The first tip, uh, as I mentioned earlier in the this episode when we were talking about a very berry Christmas.
- 38:55Sean McAllister: Uh, before that show, I stopped into uh Edge Steakhouse.
- 39:00Sean McAllister: We were over there as part of a media group to have dinner and go see the the Barry Manilo show.
- 39:06Sean McAllister: And let me tell you, this was the first time I've been over to Edge Steakhouse at Westgate, and it was delicious.
- 39:15Dayna Roselli: I always hear wonderful things.
- 39:16Dayna Roselli: I haven't been in a while, but I've gone to it before and loved it.
- 39:20Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 39:21Sean McAllister: So we had uh we started with uh the yellowtail as an appetizer, and the presentation on that was absolutely stunning.
- 39:30Sean McAllister: There was like this radish flour that encased the uh yellowtail.
- 39:35Sean McAllister: Absolutely beautiful.
- 39:36Sean McAllister: Same thing with the crab cake, it was just so pretty on the plate.
- 39:41Sean McAllister: Uh we had some of the uh spicy shrimp that came out too.
- 39:46Sean McAllister: Uh then the steak itself for dinner.
- 39:50Sean McAllister: I had a New York strip steak.
- 39:53Sean McAllister: I could not believe the flavor, and it was just so tender.
- 39:57Sean McAllister: Everything was so good.
- 39:59Dayna Roselli: And not that you we ever, ever lie, because we don't, but I'm saying but I'm just like confirming how much you loved it is that Sean's been talking about this all week since I got back, how good his steak was.
- 40:08Dayna Roselli: I have because we don't lie about anything, we don't talk about it if we don't like it.
- 40:13Dayna Roselli: But I'm just like, it's I just want to give the times 10 of how how much Sean loved his steak.
- 40:18Sean McAllister: No, I was I was legitimately impressed.
- 40:21Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, with the steak, all the sides that we got with it.
- 40:25Sean McAllister: We had the mac and cheese, we had potatoes, we had mushrooms, Brussels sprouts.
- 40:30Sean McAllister: I give my stamp of approval to to Edge Steakhouse over there at Westgate.
- 40:34Sean McAllister: So I just wanted to let you know.
- 40:36Sean McAllister: Um, you may not think about heading over to Westgate if you're looking to head to a steakhouse, but uh add it to the list of of options because it's a good one.
- 40:47Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and people often ask us about stock steakhouses, and I often see it even on threads, like what are the top Vegas steakhouses?
- 40:54Dayna Roselli: And um, you know, people sometimes have the normal go-tos, and it's time to expand that list a little bit, I think, because there are other, and I always say, how how can you know the best unless you've hit every single one?
- 41:06Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 41:06Dayna Roselli: So I mean, this just proves.
- 41:08Dayna Roselli: And you know, you never had a steak at Edge before, and now you did, and now it's in your top and now it's on my list, right?
- 41:13Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 41:14Sean McAllister: And they do have, given the legacy of Elvis over there at uh Westgate, they have like some vintage photos of Elvis performing, you know, up around the steakhouse.
- 41:23Sean McAllister: So you you get that vibe while you're in there, it's uh too.
- 41:26Sean McAllister: It's a it's a good mix of modern and classic.
- 41:30Sean McAllister: Right.
- 41:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, really good spot.
- 41:32Dayna Roselli: Um, hey, I want to talk about parking real quick and and kind of turn it into a little bit of a tip.
- 41:37Dayna Roselli: I mean, we could go on and on forever, so we're not gonna like sit here and and harp on it, but you know, paid parking is in full effect here in Las Vegas.
- 41:44Dayna Roselli: It's frustrated people a lot over the years.
- 41:47Dayna Roselli: Uh, I think it's frustrated locals even more than visitors because mostly uh, I guess feeling like we used to not have to pay for parking, you know, basically it was free.
- 41:59Dayna Roselli: So it was a big change.
- 42:00Dayna Roselli: Uh now a lot of the casinos and hotels offer locals parking for certain time limits three hours, four hours, two hours.
- 42:10Dayna Roselli: And so that's a perk.
- 42:12Dayna Roselli: But what's happening now is that locals are going to parking garages and having to pay regardless and not knowing that going in because they'll throw up a sign that says special event.
- 42:24Sean McAllister: Special event parking prices in effect, and that can range anywhere from$25 up to$75.
- 42:33Sean McAllister: I saw at a strip property recently.
- 42:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 42:36Dayna Roselli: They were charging, I think my friend went to one of the basketball games recently at T-Mobile, and it was$150 to Val A.
- 42:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, right at Park MGM.
- 42:44Dayna Roselli: But you know, so they do do some surging there.
- 42:47Dayna Roselli: Um, and then recently, uh, someone we know was at the cosmopolitan park there thinking they would have the the free allotted time uh pulled in and they had to pay$40 because they called it special event parking.
- 43:01Dayna Roselli: So the thing is, is you're like, well, if you're not there for that special event, you don't know what's what special event they're talking about.
- 43:07Sean McAllister: Right.
- 43:07Sean McAllister: I mean, there could be a concert, there could be a a viewing party, there could be any number of things.
- 43:13Dayna Roselli: NFR, you know, was going on at that time.
- 43:16Dayna Roselli: It could have been that.
- 43:17Dayna Roselli: So I guess the tip is if it it really means the world to you to not have to pay for parking, it's not in your budget.
- 43:24Dayna Roselli: Maybe you're popping in somewhere for an hour.
- 43:26Sean McAllister: And it's not worth it to pay the money.
- 43:29unknown: Yeah.
- 43:29Dayna Roselli: Um, you might want to just do some research before you go and see if there are any special events happening.
- 43:35Dayna Roselli: And I do think that means kind of an elevated, like I know at Venetian they charge you when there's a big concert at the sphere.
- 43:41Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 43:41Dayna Roselli: So they figure everyone's gonna come there and go to the sphere, but we need to leave some room for the folks that want to go and explore the Venetian.
- 43:48Dayna Roselli: So we've got to do this flat rate, whether you're local or not.
- 43:51Dayna Roselli: Um, and so I don't exactly know what qualifies as a special event, but I think it's some sort of something that's bigger than just a run-of-the-mill, your normal residency shows or I don't know, just normal attractions, maybe a slot tournament or anything.
- 44:09Dayna Roselli: I don't think it's that that's not what we're talking about.
- 44:11Dayna Roselli: It's it's gotta be something that's a little bit more elevated.
- 44:13Sean McAllister: Right.
- 44:14Sean McAllister: So I guess if you're really wanting to avoid those special event parking fees, number one, call the resort and ask for their parking and valet team and ask them if there is special event pricing in effect for whatever day you're going over there.
- 44:31Sean McAllister: And secondly, if there is, you may want to park somewhere near the strip.
- 44:36Sean McAllister: And even taking an Uber to the resort would be cheaper than possibly cheaper than um paying for an Uber.
- 44:46Sean McAllister: Or take the monorail.
- 44:47Dayna Roselli: Or walk, yeah.
- 44:48Dayna Roselli: The monorail or the tram, because you know, there isn't a monorail on the west side of the strip, but remember some of the resorts do connect with a tram.
- 44:55Dayna Roselli: So what is it, Luxor and Excalibur?
- 44:57Sean McAllister: Uh Bellaggio to Aria.
- 45:00Sean McAllister: You can get from Bellagio all the way down to Mandalay Bay from uh taking trams.
- 45:06Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 45:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because I used to live over near Aria and I would take that to the Bellagio, that tram.
- 45:11Dayna Roselli: That was nice to cross over.
- 45:12Dayna Roselli: So yeah, there are options.
- 45:13Dayna Roselli: So do some research and again hit us up with a text message if you have a question.
- 45:17Dayna Roselli: We'll we'll let you know the answer on the following week's podcast.
- 45:21Dayna Roselli: Um, if you're confused about that.
- 45:23Dayna Roselli: So FYI, yeah, the local parking gripe, I don't think will ever go away.
- 45:28Dayna Roselli: And it and and I don't know, it's the cost, but it's also the principle.
- 45:32Dayna Roselli: It just feels wrong, right?
- 45:34Sean McAllister: It does.
- 45:35Dayna Roselli: But I know it's normal in other cities, but I don't know.
- 45:38Sean McAllister: We got spoiled for a long, long, long time here in Las Vegas.
- 45:42Sean McAllister: We did.
- 45:43Dayna Roselli: That's been a podcast.
- 45:44Dayna Roselli: That's a lot.
- 45:45Sean McAllister: It has.
- 45:46Sean McAllister: We we did a lot of talking this week.

- 46:14Dayna Roselli: You can get an Uber from there.

- 46:18Dayna Roselli: They have all the hours, the pricing, what valet costs, what regular parking costs, what locals parking costs.
- 46:24Dayna Roselli: It's so informational.
- 46:26Dayna Roselli: They also have a full list of all the different venues and what's going on at that time.
- 46:30Dayna Roselli: And now they've added restaurants and places to dine that are close by.
