- 0:15Speaker 4: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 5: Like, I don't understand how a child or a dog
- 0:23Speaker 5: doesn't have a home. We all, well, most people, except
- 0:25Speaker 5: for Paul have a sauce spot.
- 0:27Speaker 4: For these dogs. You know, Bridget moynihan also older than Tom.
- 0:30Speaker 4: I would think so.
- 0:33Speaker 6: If if at that point she was older, she's older now,
- 0:36Speaker 6: So you know what Paul shows, right, Sometimes they just
- 0:40Speaker 6: drive me crazy there It is good one.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Hey, you're in North Carolina.
- 0:45Speaker 7: Did you happen to drive past the Drake May passing
- 0:48Speaker 7: camp that fulls over.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Like on the side of the road. Hey, y'all you
- 0:52Speaker 4: got no receivers? Yell at bombs?
- 0:53Speaker 3: Alright?
- 0:58Speaker 4: You think we'd get flagged on YouTube if we tried
- 1:00Speaker 4: to do that waterboarding each other in the studio.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I'll try it.
- 1:04Speaker 4: If he waterboarded, Paul would diet pepsi. He would just
- 1:07Speaker 4: take it in. He would be like, yeah, like heaven,
- 1:11Speaker 4: I gonna put it up my nose. It doesn't matter,
- 1:14Speaker 4: it's diet pepsi. I'll take it any hole. I can
- 1:16Speaker 4: get It would be so cool.
- 1:19Speaker 5: If they just ran out in new uniforms and no
- 1:21Speaker 5: one had any idea.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Paul wouldn't even notice.
- 1:23Speaker 2: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.

- 1:34Speaker 7: It is Tuesday here at Jillette Stadium and we are
- 1:39Speaker 7: a week in a day away from the first public
- 1:43Speaker 7: practice for training camp.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Can wait or can't wait?
- 1:49Speaker 2: I can't wait for the season. Yeah, I can always
- 1:51Speaker 2: wait for the starting camp.
- 1:53Speaker 8: I get excited for that first, like, hey, we're here,
- 1:56Speaker 8: and then all right, let's get the pads, and then
- 1:58Speaker 8: all right, let's get the preseason.
- 1:59Speaker 4: But I can get excited.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I get checked up when the season starts. That that
- 2:03Speaker 2: you know, the kickoff, that Thursday night kickoff. I always
- 2:05Speaker 2: look forward to that game. And then week one.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Yeah, but well it's it's Paul, this is Deuce's time.
- 2:11Speaker 4: It's Paul and color coordinated.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Look, not only is the same color, but both polo
- 2:18Speaker 3: shirts just nice.
- 2:19Speaker 4: We thought it extent our tans from vacation.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I was going to initially apologize for missing shows last week,
- 2:25Speaker 2: but evidently I was the topic of the.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Show, Well, whoever's not here?
- 2:29Speaker 2: Seventeen references to whoever's not here?
- 2:32Speaker 3: Is the topic of the show?
- 2:34Speaker 5: Alex in matter in the booth, it's me is Alice
- 2:38Speaker 5: coming down at some point?
- 2:39Speaker 3: Or is she busy?
- 2:40Speaker 4: She's busy right now, but maybe we'll be grace with
- 2:42Speaker 4: her presents. I don't know.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Okay, nice?
- 2:45Speaker 4: All right?
- 2:46Speaker 5: So yes, like I said, a week in, a day
- 2:49Speaker 5: away from the first training camp. On the eighteenth, quarterbacks
- 2:53Speaker 5: and rookies will be here. Uh so that's this Friday.
- 2:57Speaker 8: Probably start getting like some pup stuff of who's healthy,
- 3:01Speaker 8: a lot of number of players that were limited during
- 3:03Speaker 8: the spring. Who's ready to go? I think that's a
- 3:05Speaker 8: great question. I mean, Jared Wilson, mac Hollins, you know.
- 3:09Speaker 4: A couple off the top citys Stefan Diggs. Oh, that's
- 3:12Speaker 4: that's a good one about him, that guy.
- 3:15Speaker 8: But that's I think always the first thing that that
- 3:18Speaker 8: kind of drops. All right, who's not quite ready to go?
- 3:21Speaker 8: In the past, you speculated maybe they didn't pass the
- 3:23Speaker 8: conditioning test. I don't know if that's still a thing
- 3:25Speaker 8: around here with Rabel that's how it works, but that'll
- 3:29Speaker 8: be the first.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Thing to drop. Probably the end of this week.
- 3:31Speaker 8: I think usually guys report back, they get checked out,
- 3:33Speaker 8: and then you find out who's not quite ready to
- 3:35Speaker 8: go yet.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So yeah, because I think injured guys would be in
- 3:38Speaker 2: that quarterback rookie kind of group right right, have existing
- 3:42Speaker 2: injuries check.
- 3:43Speaker 8: And I mean July to Bay another one who got
- 3:45Speaker 8: hurt his calf and was out then missed the rest
- 3:47Speaker 8: of the spring. So a number of interesting guys that
- 3:50Speaker 8: that should be competing for jobs that we'll see what
- 3:52Speaker 8: their health status is.
- 3:53Speaker 5: First thing, yep, Okay, I got a box delivered to
- 3:58Speaker 5: my office today.
- 3:59Speaker 3: I said, what the hell is this?
- 4:00Speaker 2: It was soap and noo.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 5: So with all the soap talk that we have here, uh,
- 4:08Speaker 5: Steve Ross decided to send us some soap. He owns
- 4:13Speaker 5: an operator Willow Mountain Distributors in uh Brute and Alabama,
- 4:18Speaker 5: which my father in law was from home to Fred's
- 4:22Speaker 5: wife and family. I listened to Fred's rent on soap
- 4:25Speaker 5: bits and had to send some samples. We manufactured distribute
- 4:28Speaker 5: soap all over the US. Hope you enjoy them. I
- 4:30Speaker 5: would be really nice to hear how you like them
- 4:34Speaker 5: and how Alex liked them in particular.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Sure, I guess Alex is a big user of soap.
- 4:39Speaker 4: IM Like, I'm like, you gotta just keep smelling it now.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's Willow Mountain Distributors.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Okay, so thank you for that, Stephen.
- 4:50Speaker 8: It's like the soap came with a nice little pocket
- 4:51Speaker 8: as well that we can put the soap in.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I'll give it a world.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah, to give someone a blanket party soap, little pocket.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Hour back to thanks for the soap. Appreciate that. That's
- 5:04Speaker 4: a good stuff.
- 5:05Speaker 8: I love when fans send us things like which McCall
- 5:07Speaker 8: it's and soap?
- 5:08Speaker 4: Yeah, random cars not wizards.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so okay, sponsorships, So what else have we got
- 5:15Speaker 3: going on?
- 5:17Speaker 5: It's really a dead time. That's why baseball has their
- 5:19Speaker 5: All Star game.
- 5:20Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 5:21Speaker 8: Yeah, well I had a nice weekend on the Cape.
- 5:23Speaker 8: Oh that's when we start off with a little funny story.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I got a little funny sky funny story.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Can I do a funny story?
- 5:29Speaker 2: Fred's not happy that we don't have to.
- 5:31Speaker 4: I might have to protect in a little bit. Uh.
- 5:33Speaker 8: So, my my stepdad, I called my stepdad, but you
- 5:35Speaker 8: know I got married when I was like forty, So
- 5:38Speaker 8: this is my stepdad. It's got a boat Si sue
- 5:40Speaker 8: At Harbor, Fred, you know that spot. My son loves
- 5:42Speaker 8: to fish and to take us out fishing. One day,
- 5:44Speaker 8: so we're walk down to Si Suet Harbor. They got
- 5:45Speaker 8: to put the boat in, so we're waiting for them
- 5:47Speaker 8: to put the boat in. And as they put the
- 5:49Speaker 8: boat in and they put it into the slip, you know,
- 5:52Speaker 8: Don's getting it ready, showing my son some stuff, and
- 5:54Speaker 8: I'm kind of just sitting there getting ready to show
- 5:55Speaker 8: ship off. Now as I'm doing this, I notice a
- 5:58Speaker 8: family four people walk down the dogs to go to
- 6:00Speaker 8: their boat. And the first thing I noticed is like
- 6:03Speaker 8: they have a big box of something like something that
- 6:06Speaker 8: they're like taking care.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Of, and I'm like, what's going on here?
- 6:08Speaker 8: And then I noticed a couple of people holding flowers,
- 6:10Speaker 8: and so my mind, I'm just sitting at the front
- 6:12Speaker 8: of the boat holding it and I'm like, here we go.
- 6:13Speaker 4: I'm like, I think this might be be an ASHES starance.
- 6:17Speaker 8: So right does I make the realization that this might
- 6:19Speaker 8: be an Ashes ceremony. My good friend Dawn, who's having
- 6:22Speaker 8: the time of his life, cranks the opening to Life
- 6:26Speaker 8: in the fast Lane. He is blasting life in the
- 6:30Speaker 8: fast Lane, just loving life so happy, so excited to
- 6:34Speaker 8: go on the boat, and I'm looking at these people
- 6:36Speaker 8: who look very somber right next door getting a full blast.
- 6:42Speaker 4: I didn't know what to say.
- 6:44Speaker 2: And then the final line is we're pulling out.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Was he looked over to this, you guys going off
- 6:48Speaker 4: for a joy ride?
- 6:49Speaker 2: Ah? So I was in I was in my own head.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I'm like, oh.
- 6:56Speaker 8: Man, yes, yes, especially when you think of the intensity
- 7:01Speaker 8: and the aggressiveness of the life and the fast lane
- 7:04Speaker 8: guitar riff. It's just it's especially at ten am on
- 7:07Speaker 8: a Saturday morning, it's just it hits hard.
- 7:08Speaker 4: So that was that was kind of funny moment for
- 7:10Speaker 4: me there this weekend. It's the sue at Harbor, those
- 7:13Speaker 4: poor people. Hopefully it all went well. You know, my condolences.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I will to Mike that that was a funny little staty,
- 7:19Speaker 2: a little quip.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Then, you know, one of those curb your enthusiasm type stories.
- 7:23Speaker 4: I just you know, you get in your own head
- 7:25Speaker 4: and you're like, what do I do? I mean, it's
- 7:26Speaker 4: the same thing when I'm in the movie theater.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Friend, I know what I know. I know he was
- 7:30Speaker 2: and he was so happy, and he just he probably
- 7:32Speaker 2: wasn't paying attention to that.
- 7:34Speaker 3: It's not like it's not like in the middle of
- 7:37Speaker 3: the water he pulled.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Up right, but it was.
- 7:43Speaker 8: It was so in my own head of like I'm
- 7:45Speaker 8: you know, at the end of the boat, just seeing
- 7:46Speaker 8: on the dock, run ready to help him shift out.
- 7:49Speaker 8: And as soon as I realized that, the music just
- 7:51Speaker 8: cranked and.
- 7:53Speaker 4: It was funny. So yeah, that was my weekend. Great
- 7:55Speaker 4: weekend on the cape though. Love love that place.
- 7:57Speaker 8: It's not summer till I get down there and get
- 7:59Speaker 8: some ice cream, get a fish sandwich and ran into
- 8:01Speaker 8: a member of our of our content team down there randomly,
- 8:04Speaker 8: So that was good, good.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Weekend for me. Good to break battery is charging up,
- 8:08Speaker 4: ready to go.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Okay, who'd you run into down then?
- 8:11Speaker 8: Julian Jeels she was getting in line for a lobster role.
- 8:15Speaker 8: Well she was supposed to get on the boat. She
- 8:16Speaker 8: was in the wrong spot. But you know, another random one,
- 8:18Speaker 8: same place that I saw Jyalen Hawkins last year. So
- 8:20Speaker 8: I guess it's the place to be if you're out
- 8:22Speaker 8: the It's a cool spot. Tough to get in and
- 8:25Speaker 8: out of, it is. Yeah, bring your cash, you're gonna
- 8:28Speaker 8: need it.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Playing a lot of golf ball.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I played some golf in my week off.
- 8:38Speaker 4: What would you say? What do you shoot?
- 8:40Speaker 2: I shot an eighty eight. That's good. On that's good.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Last Tuesday, I agreet you could play with anybody absolutely.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I played nine on Sunday, did not play as well.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I didn't keep score, but I had a couple of doubles.
- 8:51Speaker 2: So I didn't play as well as I did on Tuesday.
- 8:55Speaker 2: But I'm working on some things, trying to work some
- 8:58Speaker 2: sort of tigering my swing a little bit. Now I'm
- 9:01Speaker 2: trying to like I'm having problems with with some of
- 9:03Speaker 2: my irons, like approach shots, and like everybody else, I'm
- 9:10Speaker 2: watching too many videos in your own I'm like, well,
- 9:12Speaker 2: this is what I think I'm doing wrong. So I
- 9:15Speaker 2: actually played on Sunday and then I asked Will if
- 9:18Speaker 2: he wanted to go to the driving range. So I
- 9:21Speaker 2: was like, Scheffler, you know, after my round, I had
- 9:22Speaker 2: to go to the driving range to work on some things.
- 9:25Speaker 2: So I was sort of trying to adjust where my
- 9:27Speaker 2: hands are on irons, and I felt like at the
- 9:29Speaker 2: driving range, surprise, surprise, it was much better. Right, We'll
- 9:33Speaker 2: see what happens the next time. I play, but care
- 9:35Speaker 2: not good. Not good.
- 9:37Speaker 8: I don't play a lot of golf, but I played
- 9:39Speaker 8: some golf with my friends who all play a lot
- 9:40Speaker 8: of golf, and like Paul, talk about golf all the time.
- 9:42Speaker 8: And I'm always amazed that when I get suckered in
- 9:45Speaker 8: and not suckered when I get talked into playing golf
- 9:47Speaker 8: with these guys, they're not that much better than me.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Like everybody's like, it's like nobody is good. Nobody's good.
- 9:53Speaker 4: That's what you forget.
- 9:54Speaker 8: It's just people are willing to put the time and
- 9:56Speaker 8: money into it to just go out there and hack
- 9:58Speaker 8: around every weekend, where.
- 9:59Speaker 4: It's me, you know, every couple of years.
- 10:01Speaker 5: But I feel like if I could get off the
- 10:03Speaker 5: tee better, I could consistently hit under one hundred.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's the goal, right when you're looking for
- 10:09Speaker 3: your ball every hole.
- 10:11Speaker 4: It's tough.
- 10:11Speaker 2: It's a hard way.
- 10:12Speaker 5: It's a hard way, and I refuse to like, oh,
- 10:15Speaker 5: I'm just going to hit an iron off the tee.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I refuse to do that. If I can't do it right,
- 10:19Speaker 3: I'm not going to do it.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I kind of agree with you, you know, you know
- 10:22Speaker 2: you what do we do? You know, we're not on tour,
- 10:24Speaker 2: We're not trying to score, We're trying to get better,
- 10:26Speaker 2: right right.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Yeah, So anyway, that's that's golf.
- 10:30Speaker 2: But back to football, I don't hear that often.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Yeah, that's when it goes in the hole, right, Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Usually I pick it up and discust.
- 10:40Speaker 5: So I was, you know, listening to I listened to
- 10:42Speaker 5: sports radio a lot whenever I'm in the car, and
- 10:45Speaker 5: they were talking about what are you most excited about
- 10:50Speaker 5: going into this season for the Patriots?
- 10:54Speaker 3: And I was.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Wondering if maybe we could pick up on that topic,
- 10:56Speaker 5: And the conversation, at least on the radio morphed into
- 11:02Speaker 5: like what do you think is going to be best
- 11:05Speaker 5: on the team?
- 11:06Speaker 3: Which I think is different.
- 11:08Speaker 5: I think they told they took the question and bastardized it,
- 11:12Speaker 5: you know, like because.
- 11:14Speaker 2: A potential semantics argument that Fred and Iron actually lockstep.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I take it exactly the way. What do you think
- 11:20Speaker 2: is going to be the you know, most exciting thing
- 11:23Speaker 2: is not necessarily what aspect of the team is best?
- 11:25Speaker 5: Right, right, exactly, But so let's let's do it in
- 11:29Speaker 5: the true form of the question, what are you most
- 11:32Speaker 5: excited about going into training camp for this team?
- 11:36Speaker 2: I answer.
- 11:37Speaker 8: I'm going to say how Mike Rabel's impact on the
- 11:39Speaker 8: team manifests itself.
- 11:40Speaker 4: What this team plays like, what you know?
- 11:43Speaker 8: I mean, And I think Paul is probably leaning towards
- 11:45Speaker 8: the defense maybe for me, and I think that's a
- 11:46Speaker 8: big element of it, because I think Mike Rabel's impact
- 11:50Speaker 8: on the team, his stamp will be most obvious on
- 11:52Speaker 8: defense because it will be probably a different style than
- 11:55Speaker 8: we're used to seeing. But I'm most interested in just
- 11:58Speaker 8: the overall feel of the team, how they play these games.
- 12:01Speaker 8: They you know, the aggressiveness and you're excited about getting
- 12:04Speaker 8: back to that person that's going I do.
- 12:08Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 4: I just the new identity of the team.
- 12:10Speaker 8: The identity of the team under Mike Vrabel, I would say,
- 12:12Speaker 8: is what I'm most excited to see manifest itself. It
- 12:15Speaker 8: could look a number of different ways, but that for
- 12:17Speaker 8: me is is what it is.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, I would say for me, it's really all
- 12:22Speaker 2: about Drake may That's what I'm most excited about. What
- 12:25Speaker 2: you know, where is his progression. I feel like he's
- 12:28Speaker 2: going to have better coaching this year than he did
- 12:30Speaker 2: last year. The talent around him is largely the same.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I'm hoping the offensive line is a little bit better.
- 12:39Speaker 2: But Drake May That's what I'm most excited to see
- 12:42Speaker 2: his maturation process. Can he kept back on the turnovers?
- 12:46Speaker 2: Candy be a little bit better in winning time? Where
- 12:51Speaker 2: does he stand? Are we going to, you know, plow
- 12:53Speaker 2: forward one hundred miles an hour knowing that this is
- 12:56Speaker 2: the guy, or are we going to continue to say,
- 12:59Speaker 2: if you could just cut back some of the mistakes,
- 13:01Speaker 2: there's something. There's a lot of roberability. So that's what
- 13:03Speaker 2: I'm most excited to say.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm most excited about the offensive line. I think
- 13:09Speaker 3: I think personnel wise, it's been upgraded.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I think Will.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Campbell is going to be a good left tackle and
- 13:16Speaker 5: he's going to be the left tackle in this team
- 13:18Speaker 5: for a long time.
- 13:20Speaker 3: I think whether it's.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Brad Berry or the other guy, I think they're gonna
- 13:25Speaker 5: end up having a decent center. I think the right
- 13:29Speaker 5: side is fine, and right now, all I'm wondering is
- 13:32Speaker 5: you know how left guard is going to play out?
- 13:35Speaker 5: It's probably I don't know if it's going to be cold,
- 13:38Speaker 5: strange or but I think, and then combine that with
- 13:42Speaker 5: the coaching, I believe the offensive line is going to
- 13:47Speaker 5: be a lot better than it was last year, and
- 13:50Speaker 5: that's going to just make the overall execution on the
- 13:53Speaker 5: offense that much better. And you know, it'll help Drake May,
- 13:57Speaker 5: it's going to help the receivers, it's going to help
- 13:59Speaker 5: every thing.
- 14:00Speaker 3: And so I'm excited about how much better the offensive
- 14:04Speaker 3: line is going to be this year from last year.
- 14:06Speaker 8: I want to ask you about that, because do you
- 14:08Speaker 8: think it will be immediately apparent from as we get
- 14:12Speaker 8: into drills with pads on that you can evaluate offensive
- 14:15Speaker 8: lineman one on ones, Because I hear what you're saying,
- 14:19Speaker 8: and I just wonder if it's going to be hard
- 14:21Speaker 8: to really get excited about them until we get into
- 14:23Speaker 8: the games and you're like, they're better this year.
- 14:25Speaker 2: So I could definitely see, you know, maybe not coming
- 14:31Speaker 2: off vacation, Paul saying I can't believe that you're that
- 14:34Speaker 2: excited about the offensive line, and then us both of
- 14:38Speaker 2: us completely being convinced that we were right based on
- 14:41Speaker 2: what happened in September. See, I told you they were better,
- 14:44Speaker 2: and I'm like, really not bad, you know, and having
- 14:46Speaker 2: one of those stupid Fred Paul. It's because you're right, Mike,
- 14:51Speaker 2: You're not going to be able to readily know how
- 14:53Speaker 2: much to know how much is Josh McCay is getting
- 14:55Speaker 2: the ball out quicker, you know, you know, the time
- 14:58Speaker 2: to throw is so much so it's made Can everybody
- 15:00Speaker 2: look better? Or you know, Will Campbell was just really
- 15:03Speaker 2: the real deal as the fourth overall pick. He is
- 15:06Speaker 2: a you know, a sort of a blossoming Pro Bowl
- 15:10Speaker 2: caliber talent. Let's put it that way. I'm not going
- 15:12Speaker 2: to call him a Pro Bowl or rookie year, but
- 15:14Speaker 2: he has that kind of ability.
- 15:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I think we knew we had major problems last
- 15:20Speaker 5: year when the Eagles came to town for that joint practice, right,
- 15:23Speaker 5: I mean that was uh oh, So I'm hoping that
- 15:27Speaker 5: when the commanders come that we'll see the opposite and
- 15:30Speaker 5: we're going to have another opportunity when they have a
- 15:33Speaker 5: joint with the Vikings that you're going up against another team.
- 15:37Speaker 5: And if I'm Mike Vrabel, I'm asking, you know, Dan Quinn,
- 15:41Speaker 5: hey test us here if you can, you know, whatever
- 15:47Speaker 5: whatever we can do there to give an.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Indication of how people are doing.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Uh so we'll we'll we'll know it when we see it.
- 15:55Speaker 8: It's hard for me because I've realized i haven't seen
- 15:58Speaker 8: a great Patriots offense in training camp really, other than
- 16:01Speaker 8: when I came in a while, which when I came
- 16:04Speaker 8: as a fan and watched Brady like that was in
- 16:07Speaker 8: I would come back just to watch that, and twenty
- 16:10Speaker 8: nineteen Brady was here. But in my memory, even that
- 16:13Speaker 8: twenty nineteen camp, you could already start to tell that
- 16:15Speaker 8: like they.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Are missing I mean, remember that's why they went out
- 16:20Speaker 2: and took the chance on Antonio Brown. I knew they
- 16:22Speaker 2: were missing weapons.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 8: Yeah, So I wonder what it'll look like. But I
- 16:27Speaker 8: still think you're right though. There'll be maybe some hints
- 16:29Speaker 8: and I but I think we're going to be predisposed
- 16:31Speaker 8: to giving Will Campbell the benefit of the doubt either way.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Well, you can't tell the difference between last year and
- 16:37Speaker 2: what they have right now, then it's a disaster. Yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 2: because last year was a really really bad performance and
- 16:44Speaker 2: they have on paper at least upgraded two spots.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean if one of the first hints we
- 16:50Speaker 5: might get is if four of the five spots start
- 16:53Speaker 5: a certain way and continue that way in terms of personnel,
- 16:56Speaker 5: that's a good sign.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 5: I mean, you know, I'll be I'm leaving out left
- 17:01Speaker 5: guard there. But if the five spots are the same
- 17:05Speaker 5: throughout the summer.
- 17:06Speaker 4: At least, that's good.
- 17:08Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I guess I also falls back to
- 17:11Speaker 8: last year though, when we kept saying they just have
- 17:13Speaker 8: to get their five guys, and even when they had
- 17:15Speaker 8: some consistency, it was still consistently.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Bad the head injury. Yeah, I mean, I hear what
- 17:19Speaker 4: you're saying, and I think that would be great.
- 17:22Speaker 8: But I also wonder if it's maybe going to be
- 17:25Speaker 8: a little bit better if guys are making pushes and
- 17:27Speaker 8: there is some movement and there is some room for
- 17:31Speaker 8: competition to happen.
- 17:32Speaker 4: I don't know what the answer is. I hear what
- 17:34Speaker 4: you're saying.
- 17:35Speaker 3: At the same Wallace is doing something.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I think it would be a great sign of Jared
- 17:40Speaker 2: Wilson is pushing for a starting job for the center.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, maybe think like that.
- 17:45Speaker 8: Yeah, you see, all right, Maybe it is a veteran
- 17:47Speaker 8: starting off in a position.
- 17:48Speaker 4: But then as we get into.
- 17:49Speaker 8: Pads a little bit into joint practices, you start to
- 17:51Speaker 8: see somebody making that.
- 17:52Speaker 2: The more I read about Wilson, the more intrigued I
- 17:55Speaker 2: am with his ability. I know Mike Reese had something
- 17:58Speaker 2: in his Sunday notes. I think it was last Sunday,
- 18:00Speaker 2: it might have been the week before, but just his
- 18:03Speaker 2: college coach talking about his rare athleticism for the spot,
- 18:07Speaker 2: and I thought it was kind of strange. One of
- 18:11Speaker 2: the reasons why he only played one year, only started
- 18:14Speaker 2: one year, was because Kirby Smart didn't want to start
- 18:19Speaker 2: him at left guard and have his two centers both
- 18:22Speaker 2: in which I thought was a foolish reason. But I mean,
- 18:25Speaker 2: whom guy has won national titles, not like he's doesn't
- 18:28Speaker 2: know what he's doing. But I thought that was flawed
- 18:30Speaker 2: logic if they were if they had two of their
- 18:33Speaker 2: better alignment and only one of them started because they
- 18:35Speaker 2: were worried about losing one or the other not having
- 18:39Speaker 2: a backup center, and that to me is flawed logic.
- 18:41Speaker 2: But I'm intrigued by his overall skill set.
- 18:43Speaker 8: Yeah, for sure, he's kind of the wildcard right now,
- 18:46Speaker 8: especially since we didn't see him at all right during
- 18:48Speaker 8: the spring. But you know, City Sookden, Wallace, Leyden Robinson,
- 18:52Speaker 8: There's a lot of different guys in there that I
- 18:54Speaker 8: think deserve chances, and I want to see some of them.
- 18:57Speaker 8: But I get your point, though, Fred, it would be
- 18:59Speaker 8: like they know guys out of the spring, these are
- 19:01Speaker 8: the guys.
- 19:02Speaker 4: This is what we're sticking with.
- 19:03Speaker 8: Like, I do see some some quality in that, but
- 19:05Speaker 8: I'd also like to see some rookies make some pushes
- 19:07Speaker 8: or you know, the younger guys things that we didn't expect.
- 19:10Speaker 5: They have to be really, really good because if you're
- 19:14Speaker 5: pushing and when you out, that's not a good sign
- 19:17Speaker 5: for him.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I wouldn't expect He's the only one that I really
- 19:21Speaker 2: feel is like.
- 19:22Speaker 5: I mean, do you think Morgan Moses could get pushed out?
- 19:27Speaker 8: No, I'm not worry about him with injury, and I
- 19:29Speaker 8: know he's been pretty reliable old.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Campbell and Moses are probably locked in.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I think that the other two spots to me are
- 19:40Speaker 2: up in the air.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Yeah, with Brad Berry's more established than anybody at left guy.
- 19:45Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't put too much meaning in But Michael Owenyu,
- 19:47Speaker 8: I think is the highest played player on this team
- 19:50Speaker 8: right now and looking last night at the Salary Capital.
- 19:53Speaker 8: But I just I just wonder if there's a little
- 19:55Speaker 8: more pressure on Michael and WHENU I just I don't
- 19:57Speaker 8: feel like people mention him very often.
- 19:59Speaker 4: We talk a lot about the offensive line.
- 20:02Speaker 8: He should be the key guy right now. I mean,
- 20:04Speaker 8: they they gave him a big contract, they wanted to
- 20:06Speaker 8: keep him around. I don't know what happened last year,
- 20:09Speaker 8: and maybe we can overlook that, but I just in
- 20:11Speaker 8: my view, Michael.
- 20:12Speaker 4: And Whu has got some pressure on him this year, and.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I think that some of these guys should coaching staff
- 20:17Speaker 2: in here. They don't have any time to him. They
- 20:18Speaker 2: didn't give him that nineteen million a year contract. I
- 20:21Speaker 2: agree with you, Mike, Yeah, he's got some.
- 20:22Speaker 8: He's kind of glaring when you, you know, pull up
- 20:25Speaker 8: next year's cap numbers or this year's cap numbers and
- 20:27Speaker 8: you just see him a top and all right, well,
- 20:29Speaker 8: usually those are the guys that you're you're really counting
- 20:31Speaker 8: on and relying on. And you know, like you just
- 20:34Speaker 8: laid out Fred with the offensive line, I feel like
- 20:36Speaker 8: we all talk about it the same way. It never
- 20:38Speaker 8: starts with like, of course our best player, Michael WNU.
- 20:41Speaker 8: He's going to anchor us, So, you know, can he
- 20:43Speaker 8: turn it around this year? I think this is I
- 20:46Speaker 8: just think it's a proving ground for him this year,
- 20:48Speaker 8: more than people are probably saying out loud. But at
- 20:51Speaker 8: the same time. When you hear people talk about the
- 20:52Speaker 8: offensive line, nobody mentions him as like the anchor of it.
- 20:56Speaker 8: You mentioned Will Campbell first, and you know, but I still.
- 20:59Speaker 3: So those are the things we're most excited about. You're
- 21:03Speaker 3: you're with the yeah, the quarterback, the offensive line. What
- 21:09Speaker 3: are you most afraid of? What's what's your biggest fear?
- 21:13Speaker 4: That Drake can't get over turnovers and bad playing the clutch.
- 21:17Speaker 8: I mean, that's why, and that's why when Paul said
- 21:19Speaker 8: that's what he's most excited about, I I you know,
- 21:21Speaker 8: it's all semantics right now, but I'm like, but I'm
- 21:24Speaker 8: I'm worried. I'm excited to see him play, but I'm
- 21:27Speaker 8: not guaranteed that he's not going to come out here
- 21:29Speaker 8: and have a you know, another year where maybe there's
- 21:31Speaker 8: some untimely interceptions, may sprays, those kind of things.
- 21:34Speaker 4: That's what scares me the most. That's what will hamper
- 21:36Speaker 4: this team.
- 21:36Speaker 8: And you don't want to come out of this year
- 21:38Speaker 8: thinking maybe we need some competition for Drake.
- 21:40Speaker 4: That's the worst case scenario.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I think Mike is right. I mean, that would be
- 21:43Speaker 2: the biggest fear, is that he doesn't make the progression
- 21:46Speaker 2: and he's just sort of a very talented but erratic quarterback.
- 21:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 4: I mean obviously if that happens.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Uh oh yeah, not below that, you'll you're limited. Yeah,
- 21:57Speaker 2: that you'll be better because you have better players than
- 21:59Speaker 2: you did like year, but you're not going to be
- 22:01Speaker 2: that much better.
- 22:01Speaker 5: I have more faith that he will be able to
- 22:04Speaker 5: overcome that, and he will be He'll take that second
- 22:07Speaker 5: year jump.
- 22:09Speaker 2: He'll be fine.
- 22:10Speaker 3: So that's not my biggest fear.
- 22:12Speaker 5: It's is it something I'm looking at, of course, But
- 22:14Speaker 5: my biggest fear is these wide receivers that there isn't
- 22:19Speaker 5: a progression that Booty doesn't progress that digs something's going
- 22:26Speaker 5: on there, and he's not the addition that we all
- 22:29Speaker 5: expect and hope he will be, and that overall it
- 22:33Speaker 5: just we don't see that jump that we all know
- 22:37Speaker 5: that they need.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Uh. That's that's that's.
- 22:40Speaker 4: My biggest fear, which then makes it harder on Drake
- 22:42Speaker 4: and then harder.
- 22:43Speaker 5: Drake and now we're wondering what the problem is, you
- 22:46Speaker 5: know overall with the offense, so collectively that wide receiver
- 22:52Speaker 5: room really has to step it.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Up this year.
- 22:55Speaker 8: Yeah, I'd sell you like maybe a B fear of
- 22:57Speaker 8: mine is that on the defensive side of the ball,
- 23:00Speaker 8: a couple key injuries prevent Vrabel from really doing what
- 23:03Speaker 8: he wants to do.
- 23:04Speaker 4: I think he'll be able to tip.
- 23:06Speaker 2: It's a problem, yeah, across the close, close.
- 23:08Speaker 8: Facsimilar to what he had in Tennessee's starting to put
- 23:11Speaker 8: it together. But you know, without a Spulane or without
- 23:14Speaker 8: a Landry or you know, even a chase on like
- 23:16Speaker 8: those dominoes tend to fall pretty quick. And I don't
- 23:19Speaker 8: want to come out of the season being like, well,
- 23:21Speaker 8: he just he didn't have his guys. He lost a
- 23:23Speaker 8: couple guys. He wasn't able to do what he wants
- 23:25Speaker 8: to do. I'd like him to be able to hold
- 23:27Speaker 8: on to those key pieces. I know there'll be injuries,
- 23:30Speaker 8: there'll be some depth pieces that they have to work around,
- 23:32Speaker 8: of course, but I just hope they don't have a
- 23:34Speaker 8: couple of catastrophic injuries that just change the dynamic and
- 23:37Speaker 8: then you're not saying yeah, but but you never know.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, hopefully it's it's a reasonable amount of health.
- 23:42Speaker 2: You know, you don't lose Gonzo, you know, or Spelane.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I think those guys would be really impactful losses. Milton
- 23:49Speaker 2: Williams and Barmore obviously going to be a big part
- 23:52Speaker 2: of what they want to do up front. You want
- 23:54Speaker 2: to keep those guys healthy. Yeah, Mike is right about
- 23:57Speaker 2: the overall depth though, because they while they haven't prove
- 24:00Speaker 2: the roster, you can't improve the roster and add all
- 24:03Speaker 2: depths at the same time. You know, in one offseason.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I think they've taken some steps to improve the overall
- 24:09Speaker 2: talent level, but to me, it's still lacking overall with
- 24:13Speaker 2: regard to the playoff teams, the teams that we you know.
- 24:16Speaker 4: The Kansas City, that's why they're good.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Yeah, Baltimore, they can overcome injuries because they have the
- 24:21Speaker 5: death so fears of may wide receiver room. What do
- 24:26Speaker 5: you think will be the biggest positive surprise.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Come into play.
- 24:35Speaker 4: I'm gonna say that the defense will be better than
- 24:37Speaker 4: they were last year.
- 24:38Speaker 8: I mean, I don't know if that's a surprise for anybody, right,
- 24:41Speaker 8: but they were down near the bottom and just about everything.
- 24:44Speaker 8: I think if trusting Mike Rabel, Terrell Williams, they went out,
- 24:48Speaker 8: they got their kind of guys. They're transitioning to a
- 24:50Speaker 8: different kind of defense, but I think that they'll be
- 24:53Speaker 8: They're playing some bad offenses.
- 24:55Speaker 4: But I think that that'll be the biggest surprise to me.
- 24:57Speaker 8: It's just that this defense only kind of comes back
- 25:00Speaker 8: plays aggressive, get some you know, some recognition for for
- 25:04Speaker 8: how they play.
- 25:06Speaker 2: I mean, that's a tough question to answer. How about
- 25:09Speaker 2: you get a nice bounce back year from Ramondre Stevenson.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I think they probably want to run the ball a
- 25:13Speaker 2: little bit, you know, with McDaniels and Vrabel. I know
- 25:16Speaker 2: Mike sort of he can get snippy with me, but
- 25:19Speaker 2: he was sort of like, well, we don't have a
- 25:20Speaker 2: two hundred and fifty pound running back. When I sort
- 25:22Speaker 2: of asked him in the offseason about his style of play,
- 25:26Speaker 2: do you expect to be similar to what you were
- 25:28Speaker 2: in Tennessee? And he immediately hit me with, well, we
- 25:30Speaker 2: don't have Derek Henry. I do think that that's how
- 25:33Speaker 2: they want to play. They want to protect the football,
- 25:35Speaker 2: they want to run the ball, they want to be
- 25:37Speaker 2: physical on both sides of the ball. Ramondre Stevens is
- 25:41Speaker 2: not going to fumble seven times again. Yeah, he's going
- 25:44Speaker 2: to have a more productive year. I feel with Josh
- 25:47Speaker 2: and I think you might have a nice positive surprise there.
- 25:51Speaker 5: My positive surprise is they will do no worse than
- 25:54Speaker 5: four and two in the AFC East.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Okay, that would be a surprise. Yeah, yeah, I don't
- 26:02Speaker 2: see that, but that would be a surprise.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Losses at Miami and app I'm not saying who you know,
- 26:07Speaker 4: one of those wins might be the Bills.
- 26:09Speaker 3: You know, they could split with the Bills.
- 26:11Speaker 4: But the last couple of years, no worse than.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Four and two in the a f C East.
- 26:15Speaker 8: All right, it will be It would be wonderful to
- 26:19Speaker 8: get over the Miami hump, so Mark, to get over
- 26:21Speaker 8: the morrell to uh like that that that'll be happy, Duce,
- 26:25Speaker 8: that'll be happy postgame due.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Better chance four and two or two and four in
- 26:29Speaker 2: the division like to. So the eternal optimism.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Right now probably too and four right now?
- 26:38Speaker 2: Split with Miami split, don't my lips?
- 26:41Speaker 4: Can I see that?
- 26:43Speaker 8: But to get over the two hump this year I
- 26:44Speaker 8: think would be a great first step. You talk about
- 26:46Speaker 8: just things to check off, like maybe getting a win
- 26:48Speaker 8: down in Miami or simply.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Just in Miami.
- 26:50Speaker 2: And now I got two wins over there. You know,
- 26:52Speaker 2: I think they're gonna beat Miami here they play them
- 26:56Speaker 2: in December, if I yeah, it's late. It's one of
- 26:59Speaker 2: the late games, right, I forget it's uh.
- 27:03Speaker 8: I thought we had Miami or Miami my last in
- 27:06Speaker 8: the last game, second game in the last game.
- 27:09Speaker 2: So I think they're going to win that last game
- 27:10Speaker 2: against Miami. Miami will have been eliminated by then.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Matter.
- 27:15Speaker 8: So there you go Week two down in Miami to
- 27:18Speaker 8: a full complement of weaponry. H to win that game,
- 27:21Speaker 8: that would that would be good. But I like just
- 27:23Speaker 8: going through the like Week one against the Raiders.
- 27:26Speaker 2: It's a tough game. That's a really tough, tough game
- 27:28Speaker 2: that Patriots fans I don't want to paint with a
- 27:31Speaker 2: broad brush, but a lot of Patriots fans have not
- 27:34Speaker 2: even considered the possibility.
- 27:36Speaker 8: I mean, Brock Bowers is, you know, by the recent vote,
- 27:39Speaker 8: the number one tight end in the league right now.
- 27:41Speaker 2: What was the biggest acquisition they made in the off season?
- 27:43Speaker 2: Fourth overall pair Ashton fourth overall pick was who Will Campbell?
- 27:49Speaker 2: And who is the Raiders best player? The best in
- 27:53Speaker 2: the league. Yeah, I know that he generally plays on
- 27:57Speaker 2: the other side, but you don't think Pete Carroll is
- 27:59Speaker 2: gonna wreck as well. I got a kid over there.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I might want to see if he's up to speed
- 28:04Speaker 2: or how much are they going to have to slide
- 28:06Speaker 2: the protection from Max Crosby even if he's on you know,
- 28:09Speaker 2: the right side with Morgan Moses, does that open somebody
- 28:12Speaker 2: else up? You know? Is Kon's I forget, I haven't
- 28:15Speaker 2: done my matchups yet, so I'm a little behind.
- 28:18Speaker 4: So to be chase on.
- 28:19Speaker 8: But but yeah, probably maybe Malcolm Kons is the right.
- 28:23Speaker 2: So there's that's a really that's a good there's personnel
- 28:27Speaker 2: there that can do some damage. You know. You Mike
- 28:31Speaker 2: mentioned Bowers. Jano Smith had a good game against the
- 28:34Speaker 2: Patriots last year. You know, I sort of dismissed him
- 28:36Speaker 2: heading into that Seattle game. He proved me wrong.
- 28:38Speaker 3: He's a competent quarterback.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Ashton I mean Ashton gens in the backfield. Ye figure
- 28:44Speaker 4: it out.
- 28:44Speaker 8: And I was looking at that schedule that I'm like
- 28:46Speaker 8: them then at Miami and I was like, were people
- 28:48Speaker 8: saying this is like a great schedule for a great
- 28:51Speaker 8: start Like I, you know, I it's gonna every every
- 28:53Speaker 8: game is going to be a battle.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Every game is going to be a battle, isn't it.
- 28:57Speaker 2: They have three of the first four at home, so
- 28:58Speaker 2: I think everybody's just sort of felt like, well, those
- 29:00Speaker 2: are wins.
- 29:01Speaker 4: And they haven't won any games at home.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I think the Carolina game, you probably feel pretty good.
- 29:06Speaker 2: That's a game that quote unquote we should win at home,
- 29:09Speaker 2: and I would agree with that. But Pittsburgh and the Raiders,
- 29:11Speaker 2: to me, those could go either way, right, and if
- 29:16Speaker 2: they were on the road, I wouldn't feel really good
- 29:18Speaker 2: about either one of them. But at home, I give
- 29:20Speaker 2: you a shot.
- 29:21Speaker 5: Of any of those games, Like, which of those games
- 29:24Speaker 5: will the Patriots be favored?
- 29:27Speaker 4: I mean I don't.
- 29:27Speaker 3: I don't make the case the only one would be Carolina.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I think they might be favored in the opener. I
- 29:32Speaker 2: think there's there's a good amount of games that they
- 29:35Speaker 2: This stuff is already well, it's already like if there'll
- 29:39Speaker 2: be out there, right, Yeah, yeah, I think there's a
- 29:45Speaker 2: I think there's an odd amount of games the Patriots
- 29:47Speaker 2: are favorite, like an eleven out of the seventeen games
- 29:49Speaker 2: or something like that, which is I think speaks to
- 29:52Speaker 2: the schedule that we're.
- 29:53Speaker 3: All playing, playing a fourth place schedule, right.
- 29:57Speaker 2: You know they played a fourth place schedule last year too,
- 29:59Speaker 2: I know.
- 30:00Speaker 3: But it's supposed to be better.
- 30:01Speaker 2: There's only three teams, only three games that are impacted
- 30:04Speaker 2: by the place that you finish, right, everybody else is
- 30:07Speaker 2: the same. It's the same schedule that Buffalo is playing,
- 30:10Speaker 2: except for three games in their first play schedule. Yeah right, Uh,
- 30:16Speaker 2: let's see Patriots odds for the season.
- 30:18Speaker 11: Right, sots five hundred The Hot Line podcast.
- 30:30Speaker 2: If I don't talk, the show stops. What did you
- 30:32Speaker 2: guys last week?
- 30:33Speaker 4: It's nothing. We just stared at each other.
- 30:34Speaker 5: I can't believe you don't have that tattoos for your forum.
- 30:38Speaker 8: It's another side topic though, just we can jump back
- 30:40Speaker 8: to that. But just the second round pick thing. I
- 30:42Speaker 8: know someone wrote in about that, and now it seems
- 30:44Speaker 8: like it might actually start to be a thing because
- 30:46Speaker 8: Houston guaranteed the full contract with Jayden Higgins and I
- 30:50Speaker 8: think only he and the linebacker Schwestion Gert from the
- 30:54Speaker 8: Browns are the only two second round guys signed. So
- 30:57Speaker 8: there might be a little bit of a problem now
- 30:59Speaker 8: with our slotted drafting.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Patriots are right now favored by three against the Raiders.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Well you get three, so it's even there.
- 31:06Speaker 2: You go, Okay, So I'm not gonna look up the
- 31:09Speaker 2: rest because he's gonna because he's gonna dismiss it.
- 31:13Speaker 8: It's a great it's a great opening game though. That
- 31:15Speaker 8: that was what stood out to me. Just good team,
- 31:18Speaker 8: there's some talent yet.
- 31:21Speaker 2: And you know the Pittsburgh game is interesting too with
- 31:24Speaker 2: with Aaron Rodgers. Again, it's early in the season, so
- 31:27Speaker 2: if it doesn't go well for him, it hasn't not
- 31:30Speaker 2: gone well already. You don't have you know what I mean,
- 31:34Speaker 2: by the time that you get to like week. That's
- 31:35Speaker 2: why I think it's it's kind of a bad break
- 31:38Speaker 2: that played Miami so early, because I think Miami's like
- 31:41Speaker 2: I think, like everybody else with Miami, I think they're
- 31:43Speaker 2: gonna struggle. I think this is kind of a bridge
- 31:45Speaker 2: year or rebuilding, resetting kind of a year for them.
- 31:48Speaker 2: But in we two they're not going to feel that way.
- 31:51Speaker 2: You know, the season's just starting.
- 31:53Speaker 3: So springs internal.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Speaking of contract, Garrett Wilson average about thirty one million
- 31:59Speaker 3: a year.
- 32:00Speaker 4: What do you think good deal?
- 32:02Speaker 2: A good deal for him? I felt like, I don't
- 32:05Speaker 2: know why I feel like the Jets are having a
- 32:07Speaker 2: good offseason because I haven't heard a lot about the Jets,
- 32:10Speaker 2: and I know, I think I mentioned a few weeks
- 32:12Speaker 2: ago that Ben Vollen wrote something like that, and I
- 32:14Speaker 2: don't often, you know, find myself I say this to
- 32:18Speaker 2: Ben all the time. I don't often find myself aligned
- 32:20Speaker 2: with Ben Vollen, But I think he's right. I think
- 32:22Speaker 2: it's a sign that maybe Aaron Glenn has an idea
- 32:25Speaker 2: of how he wants to run his team. Scares me
- 32:27Speaker 2: his program, you know, they've sort of flown under the radar.
- 32:31Speaker 2: I think that's a really good signing. I don't think
- 32:34Speaker 2: it's an an exorbitant salary. It's ninety million guaranteed four years.
- 32:39Speaker 2: That to me is he's a good player. He's one
- 32:42Speaker 2: of the best ten receivers in football.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and.
- 32:46Speaker 2: He's paid I think somewhere in the top five. And
- 32:50Speaker 2: guys that are gonna, you know, you know how that works,
- 32:52Speaker 2: guys are gonna end up going in front of him.
- 32:54Speaker 2: He didn't get as much as DK Metcalf, and I
- 32:57Speaker 2: think he's a better player than DK Metcalf.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean it's a ninety million guaranteed, yeah, four years,
- 33:04Speaker 3: ninety million.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Yeah. Just it worries me. It worries me.
- 33:07Speaker 8: Fret says four and two, and like, I just don't
- 33:08Speaker 8: know anything about the Jets right now.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I feel. I mean, it just depends on Justin Field.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Yeah. It's a huge wildcard.
- 33:13Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, I mean, and I think any team that's
- 33:15Speaker 8: why it's a surprise. Any team with a new coach
- 33:17Speaker 8: or a new quarterback or some combination of it's huge
- 33:20Speaker 8: question marks. And that's what the Raiders are going to be,
- 33:23Speaker 8: That's what Pittsburgh's going to be, That's what the Patriots are.
- 33:25Speaker 2: So I think there's a two more that have been
- 33:27Speaker 2: penciled into the wind column the by if you talk
- 33:30Speaker 2: to most people. We had a guy last week. I
- 33:33Speaker 2: was on one of my shows, Freddie, I was double
- 33:35Speaker 2: dipping on you on my vacation. A guy called in
- 33:39Speaker 2: and said, you'd be like disappointed with ten wins. He
- 33:45Speaker 2: goes just making the playoffs and get knocked out in
- 33:47Speaker 2: the wildcard round with ten wins isn't enough? And I'm like,
- 33:51Speaker 2: I just I looked at Tim mcconne, I said, that's
- 33:53Speaker 2: enough for me.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Does that guy call our show too? I feel like
- 33:56Speaker 4: we had that.
- 33:56Speaker 2: I don't know you, Oh did we?
- 33:58Speaker 4: I don't know we had a call like that too.
- 34:00Speaker 3: He might have made the rounds.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I'm not telling you that ten wins should be like
- 34:04Speaker 2: you know, cause for a parade or anything like that,
- 34:07Speaker 2: But based on winning four games in the last.
- 34:10Speaker 5: Two years, you'll come if you win ten, you can
- 34:12Speaker 5: win ten games come out of the season feeling very optimal.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Because I find it awfully hard to believe you won
- 34:16Speaker 2: ten games without a significant jump from Drake May. That
- 34:20Speaker 2: would be the only way I wouldn't feel great about
- 34:22Speaker 2: winning ten games is if they win.
- 34:24Speaker 3: A bunch of game ten to three.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you win a want a bunch of defensive slogs
- 34:27Speaker 2: because you played bad teams and they couldn't muster any
- 34:30Speaker 2: offense against you when you looked better than.
- 34:32Speaker 4: You were seeing that season.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Frable's a good coach, so he found a way to,
- 34:35Speaker 2: you know, win these seventeen thirteen kind of games. And
- 34:38Speaker 2: Drake May didn't play well. I could see you not
- 34:40Speaker 2: feeling great about winning ten games. But that's it. That's it.
- 34:44Speaker 2: If they win ten games and they make the playoffs,
- 34:46Speaker 2: or they're at least in playoff contention in week eighteen,
- 34:49Speaker 2: the whole new world, that'd be great.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Yeah, whole new world.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Let's see who's this ignis? I don't know.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:57Speaker 5: Ignis from Connecticut, an ignorant fan since two thousand and three,
- 35:01Speaker 5: moved to the States and longtime fan of the show.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Have you seen the Kendrick Bourne video of the workout
- 35:06Speaker 5: sessions Drake organized in North Carolina? Personally, I thought Diggs
- 35:11Speaker 5: is moving really well. Hopeful he'll be a full go
- 35:14Speaker 5: week one. Mandre looks quicker and sharper in his cuts.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Poke looks bigger. Was impressed with his change in direction
- 35:21Speaker 5: when he plants and shifts. So did you guys see
- 35:24Speaker 5: the video?
- 35:24Speaker 4: I did, Actually I watched. I watched.
- 35:26Speaker 8: I mean it's like twenty minutes. It just raw Pratts footage.
- 35:29Speaker 8: I mean it is edited. I shouldn't say it's.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Ronna say it ain't raw foot but no, but it's
- 35:33Speaker 2: all making everybody look at it. It possibly look.
- 35:35Speaker 4: It's all highlights. But uh, I like the vibes. I
- 35:39Speaker 4: like the vibes. Generally, I don't.
- 35:40Speaker 8: I don't care about the videos, but I like the
- 35:43Speaker 8: vibes that it seems like they're all getting along, they're
- 35:45Speaker 8: working together there.
- 35:45Speaker 4: I mean, I said it on the show on Thursday.
- 35:47Speaker 8: I like more of the the team building stuff, which
- 35:49Speaker 8: I think Mike wrote in his notes. Mike Grease wrote
- 35:52Speaker 8: in his notes that Drake said it's more about getting together.
- 35:55Speaker 4: And I said, the.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Student happen to do anything's happening.
- 35:58Speaker 8: You know, the stupid video pod if you saw it
- 35:59Speaker 8: was was drake like throwing a past to Remandra on
- 36:02Speaker 8: a jet ski and catching. You know, like that's like
- 36:04Speaker 8: the dumb, dumb, dumb stuff that me and my friends do.
- 36:07Speaker 8: It's like, all right, these guys are getting along, they're
- 36:09Speaker 8: spending time together, they're getting to know each other.
- 36:11Speaker 4: They're gonna want to win for each other. They're gonna
- 36:13Speaker 4: want to go through that.
- 36:13Speaker 2: I would just say two things here. Physically, don't fall
- 36:17Speaker 2: into the trap that so and so looks quicker. They're
- 36:21Speaker 2: they're all without quick. They don't look quicker. They are
- 36:24Speaker 2: quicker because it's the summer. And the last time you
- 36:28Speaker 2: saw them was at the end of an eighteen game
- 36:30Speaker 2: slog where they got the crap beat out of them
- 36:32Speaker 2: for a whole year, and they were slower. So they
- 36:34Speaker 2: are fat. They're all across the board, they're all faster, quicker,
- 36:37Speaker 2: cutting more shot.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Literally all they have on is cleats and shorts.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Right, so they actually moving faster than they were the
- 36:44Speaker 2: last time you saw them. You know, injuries aside, you know,
- 36:48Speaker 2: if someone's injured or whatever. But yes, Romandre Stevenson, I
- 36:51Speaker 2: have no doubt is moving quicker right now than he
- 36:54Speaker 2: was in December, the last time you saw him January.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I have I have to be very about this.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I agree with Mike. I think the team bonding thing
- 37:03Speaker 2: is significant. I think that's an important part of you know,
- 37:07Speaker 2: getting some kind of like chemistry in the locker room
- 37:09Speaker 2: and whatnot. I don't care at all about the Facocta
- 37:13Speaker 2: videos that they're clearly sculpting and oh yeah whatever, you know,
- 37:19Speaker 2: they look great.
- 37:20Speaker 3: I just realized I didn't give them a food order.
- 37:22Speaker 2: They make a big deal out of these these kinds
- 37:24Speaker 2: of things. They're just not all that important to me
- 37:26Speaker 2: that they're It matters to me that they like each
- 37:29Speaker 2: other and they want to be with each other on
- 37:32Speaker 2: the field and off like that matters to me. I
- 37:34Speaker 2: think that's.
- 37:35Speaker 8: Important, right, you know, just trying to see them do
- 37:38Speaker 8: a stupid like do you think you could complete a pass?
- 37:40Speaker 12: All?
- 37:40Speaker 2: I thought it, Like, that's great. I think that stuff
- 37:42Speaker 2: is great. I'm with your mic.
- 37:44Speaker 8: It made me though, I went into my after watching
- 37:47Speaker 8: that video. I just I started playing a Buyer Cell
- 37:49Speaker 8: game with the Patriots roster where you get so into
- 37:52Speaker 8: analyzing like who's going to get cut who's not? Just
- 37:56Speaker 8: and I thought it was a good mental exercise to
- 37:58Speaker 8: show just who are you buying or who are you
- 38:00Speaker 8: selling as you go in? You know, like Stefan Diggs,
- 38:03Speaker 8: I'm gonna buy on him. I think Paul and Evan
- 38:06Speaker 8: definitely selling on Jalen Polk. I would be a buy
- 38:08Speaker 8: on Jalen Polk right now. I think it's a depreciated
- 38:10Speaker 8: asset that I think is gonna, you know, blossom. But
- 38:12Speaker 8: it's kind of going through the roster and now there's
- 38:15Speaker 8: some interesting choices just putting it through that buyer sell
- 38:17Speaker 8: nothing more.
- 38:18Speaker 4: Is he gonna get cut? I don't know, just going in.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Do you feel like you'd invest in this guy or
- 38:22Speaker 4: you wouldn't?
- 38:22Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 38:24Speaker 5: Uh Now this next email is the definition of dedication.
- 38:30Speaker 5: OK So, nateon Connecticut's been a frequent caller. He's emailing,
- 38:35Speaker 5: He's says, he says, first, he apologizes for not calling
- 38:38Speaker 5: in apology.
- 38:39Speaker 4: I was wondering where, he says.
- 38:40Speaker 5: I'm at lacrosse camp at West Point and we're at lunch.
- 38:43Speaker 5: So he's emailing during lunch at lacrosse camp Pyle, What
- 38:47Speaker 5: are you doing?
- 38:47Speaker 4: That's dedication anyway, He's.
- 38:50Speaker 5: Wondering, do you think we're gonna have new jersey's unveiled?
- 38:54Speaker 3: New jerseys?
- 38:55Speaker 5: He's got the jay capitalized, So I get a little
- 38:57Speaker 5: mixed up there, are we gonna have new jerseys unveiled?
- 39:00Speaker 5: Because the charges just tease alternates. The Browns of rumored
- 39:03Speaker 5: to be having alternate helmets. The commanders just released their
- 39:06Speaker 5: new jerseys, probably a week ago. Do you think it's
- 39:08Speaker 5: time for a change in jerseys?
- 39:11Speaker 2: Tampa Bay that.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Somebody somebody made are today it was big head Tampa
- 39:18Speaker 5: Bay and roll those out and everyone's like, oh, I
- 39:22Speaker 5: love those. Everybody hated those at the time, they made
- 39:26Speaker 5: fun of them.
- 39:27Speaker 4: Now all of a sudden they love them.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Albert b posted that and said what he loves them? No, no, no,
- 39:34Speaker 2: what something that I thought you were going to actually say,
- 39:38Speaker 2: like Pat Patriot?
- 39:39Speaker 3: Absolutely there was.
- 39:41Speaker 2: I don't think that Pat Patriot got a lot of
- 39:43Speaker 2: criticism when it was out, but there was. There was
- 39:46Speaker 2: no clamoring for Pat Patriot. Like Fred says this all
- 39:49Speaker 2: the time, He's right, you know, we lived it. There
- 39:52Speaker 2: was no I don't remember that the vitriol that Fred
- 39:55Speaker 2: does for pat Patriot, But I don't remember anybody saying
- 39:58Speaker 2: I can't believe they got rid of Pat Patriot. When
- 39:59Speaker 2: they got rid of them, there wasn't really this hue
- 40:02Speaker 2: and cry.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Yeah, welcome to the nineties.
- 40:04Speaker 3: You know, the creams of Cold. People made fun of it.
- 40:07Speaker 3: They had the I think it was the buccaneer more
- 40:09Speaker 3: than anything with the half Yeah, but I always kind
- 40:13Speaker 3: of like the uniforms.
- 40:14Speaker 2: I thought they were kind of cool looking.
- 40:16Speaker 4: Archie Manning. That's that's the vibe I get with those ones.
- 40:18Speaker 4: But I mean, man wasn't he the Oh god, I
- 40:22Speaker 4: always confused Tampa Bay, New Orleans. That's like a thing
- 40:24Speaker 4: I have, I get something something I would have.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Yeah, wow, Yeah, that's good. Fred. Fred is on a
- 40:36Speaker 2: high right now because the Red Sox are on a
- 40:37Speaker 2: ten game winning He's brought, he's brought his a game today.
- 40:41Speaker 2: He's ready bring for the All Star Games, bringing topics
- 40:44Speaker 2: to the table. He's talking about Leroy crap show. Steve
- 40:49Speaker 2: Spurrier was the quarterback. He might be thinking of it.
- 40:52Speaker 8: Yeah, but otherwise, like Trent Dilfer, all right, let's.
- 40:57Speaker 4: Go to the hotline. We'll start with Kendall Carolina I would.
- 41:01Speaker 12: Play Kendall, Hey, what's going on?
- 41:05Speaker 9: Guys?
- 41:05Speaker 10: Hey, First, I want to give a shout that Paul
- 41:09Speaker 10: had especially gifts from the pocket they Paul, Paul came
- 41:12Speaker 10: to my show yesterday.
- 41:13Speaker 9: Appreciated it.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Paul did, and I enjoyed it. Kendall does a great
- 41:16Speaker 2: job and I was happy to help him out.
- 41:18Speaker 4: Okay, yelly, no, we had nice.
- 41:22Speaker 2: He chopped it up for a little bit about twenty
- 41:24Speaker 2: twenty five minutes. It's nice, good good time.
- 41:26Speaker 4: You played nice.
- 41:26Speaker 9: Okay, yes, the Cans past out played this podcast.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Appreciate it.
- 41:30Speaker 9: But I wanted to ask, have y'all I know Kamara
- 41:34Speaker 9: is going, have y'all found out? Like who's going to
- 41:37Speaker 9: have y'all found somebody.
- 41:38Speaker 13: To replaced on the post pregame show?
- 41:39Speaker 5: Like y'all got we do have a replacement on the
- 41:43Speaker 5: pre and postgame show a host and uh we'll be
- 41:47Speaker 5: rolling out that info in due time.
- 41:50Speaker 9: So oh okay, okay, Well that's all of anyone to ask.
- 41:53Speaker 12: We just want to give us out to Paul and
- 41:55Speaker 12: asked that question and I appreciate it.
- 41:58Speaker 4: Okay, all right, well thanks Kendall, appreciate its.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Kendall, good luck. Ye they're good guy, good guy. Okay, Absolutely,
- 42:07Speaker 2: we're gonna go for like a young mic two shown, We're.
- 42:11Speaker 5: Gonna go from North Carolina to California. Kyle's on the phone.
- 42:14Speaker 5: What's up, Kyle?
- 42:17Speaker 13: Hey, guys, how are we doing?
- 42:18Speaker 4: Good?
- 42:20Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 42:20Speaker 13: I I a little football also football talk here. I
- 42:25Speaker 13: got to plan my Christmas vacation plans, and my family's
- 42:28Speaker 13: going to go to Boston. Wonder if you guys had
- 42:30Speaker 13: any recommendations.
- 42:32Speaker 2: In The Winner The Winner?
- 42:34Speaker 4: Yes, sir, Yeah, what was the question?
- 42:36Speaker 8: I'm sorry, planning a vacation to Boston The Winner and
- 42:38Speaker 8: The Winner looking for advice?
- 42:41Speaker 4: What kind of stuff you're looking for? Are you with
- 42:43Speaker 4: a family with kids?
- 42:44Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 42:46Speaker 14: Yeah?
- 42:46Speaker 13: So as me, my mom and sister, I'm gonna be
- 42:49Speaker 13: my last Christmas in the States, just before I go
- 42:51Speaker 13: on deployment. And then my sister lives in Spain, so
- 42:54Speaker 13: we're gonna meet her halfway. We're originally from California. I
- 42:57Speaker 13: never made the Heaspost before.
- 42:59Speaker 4: All Right, Well, I say North End, get some get
- 43:02Speaker 4: some Italian. Yeah, I mean there's a great One's.
- 43:05Speaker 2: A lot of great food in and around the city
- 43:07Speaker 2: in Boston, North End, as Mike said, a lot of history.
- 43:11Speaker 2: I don't know how much time you have.
- 43:12Speaker 5: I would do the Freedom Trail, you know, as someone
- 43:15Speaker 5: who's never been here before, I'm assuming.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I don't know how much I would do that. You know.
- 43:20Speaker 2: In terms of outdoors, there's a lot of great skiing
- 43:22Speaker 2: areas up north of Boston. I don't know if you
- 43:27Speaker 2: have time to get up there, if that's something that
- 43:29Speaker 2: you be interested in. But there's there's a I mean,
- 43:33Speaker 2: winter is not I wouldn't say the best time to
- 43:37Speaker 2: be in Boston, but there's there's still a lot of Ruins, gah.
- 43:42Speaker 5: Bruins or Celtics go to the garden.
- 43:46Speaker 2: So Fred, this is impressive. You got you got to
- 43:48Speaker 2: lunch order anyway.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Look at this Matt marine Matt anticipating his needs above
- 43:53Speaker 4: and beyond.
- 43:54Speaker 5: The New England Aquarium is really cool if you want
- 43:57Speaker 5: to do that.
- 43:58Speaker 4: It's kind of smelly, though smelly, well fish, it's humid.
- 44:01Speaker 3: There'll be plenty to do.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Newberry Street if you want to go shopping in
- 44:05Speaker 4: Newberry Street. Fangel Hall.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Keep the family off Newberry Street, all right? Looking to
- 44:09Speaker 2: save Thanks.
- 44:11Speaker 5: Kyle Travis writes in from West Virginia, big fan of
- 44:15Speaker 5: Patriots Unfiltered on TV. Although I realized it's probably easy
- 44:19Speaker 5: to do from the studio, I liked it better when
- 44:21Speaker 5: you did it from the Hall of Fame. The colors,
- 44:24Speaker 5: lights look great on camera, and it just had a
- 44:26Speaker 5: hometown feel, whereas the studio is more sterile.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Okay, any any plans for Patriots talked about?
- 44:35Speaker 2: I can't imagine we're going to go back the amount
- 44:37Speaker 2: of time. Yeah, it's an effort that was saved. No
- 44:40Speaker 2: on I don't like effort, but not on our part
- 44:43Speaker 2: because Mike and I are Prima Donna's show up. Mike
- 44:45Speaker 2: and I show up and we just do our thing
- 44:48Speaker 2: and then we're out. So it takes the same amount
- 44:50Speaker 2: of time for Mike and I to do it in
- 44:51Speaker 2: the halls. But it's still the same same right, But
- 44:58Speaker 2: it requires a lot more effort on the part of
- 45:00Speaker 2: the crew, and I think that they would probably prefer
- 45:04Speaker 2: to have it like like it was last year.
- 45:08Speaker 5: Also, I would like to encourage everyone listening to take
- 45:11Speaker 5: a stand against whole body deodorant. It's a scam that's
- 45:15Speaker 5: being rammed down our throats. If you take regular showers,
- 45:18Speaker 5: your whole body doesn't stink.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Have any of you fallen for this scam.
- 45:22Speaker 8: I have not no, no, I have not even felt
- 45:25Speaker 8: the need to, Luckily, and I didn't know it was ongoing.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Well I.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Also have a theory that you know this clinical deodorant
- 45:36Speaker 3: now they have, It's basically what they've done is they've
- 45:39Speaker 3: weakened the regular deodorant, so for some people it's not
- 45:43Speaker 3: as effect able. I got a problem. So then they
- 45:46Speaker 3: they upgrade and they pay more for the clinical deals.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Kind of like when Apple changes the power of your phone.
- 45:54Speaker 4: It's a scam, all right?
- 45:56Speaker 5: Well, uh, Marine Matt was kind enough to foresee my hunger.
- 46:01Speaker 3: He ordered food for me.
- 46:02Speaker 4: I'm gonna eat it.

- 48:10Speaker 4: What is a Patriots free agency plan?
- 48:12Speaker 3: Flurry of moves to open NFL free agency.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Carlton Davids maybe their top.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Two corner there, Morgan Moses solidified the offensive line.
- 48:24Speaker 4: These are Vrabels, guys someone who watches ball.
- 48:27Speaker 16: Nos, No, no, no, that's a dog right there.
- 48:33Speaker 8: Teams shut is really getting after this offensive line?
- 48:37Speaker 17: Is there?
- 48:37Speaker 4: Tough, big physical player. There's a tough team now go anywhere.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Patriots have been known for winning for a long time.
- 48:44Speaker 1: For them to want me and bring me into this
- 48:46Speaker 1: organization and be a part of that, I couldn't find
- 48:48Speaker 1: nothing better than that. Man. I'll probably say that was
- 48:51Speaker 1: the best day of my life. You really can't even
- 48:53Speaker 1: put it into words.
- 48:54Speaker 4: We are extremely proud.
- 48:56Speaker 18: I personally never dreamed of a moment like this or
- 49:01Speaker 18: the super Bowl.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Well, I dreamed of it.
- 49:04Speaker 9: I feel like I knew what was gonna have because
- 49:06Speaker 9: he put the work in.
- 49:07Speaker 4: It's his time.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Having my family there, you know, they see all the
- 49:10Speaker 1: work to go into it. You know a lot of
- 49:12Speaker 1: stuff that go all behind the scenes. It was big
- 49:14Speaker 1: to just celebrate that moment with them. Like I said,
- 49:17Speaker 1: that was the biggest day of my life. That could
- 49:19Speaker 1: have been a better moment for me to play a
- 49:21Speaker 1: better game definitely.
- 49:22Speaker 19: You know what excites me is just a long history
- 49:24Speaker 19: of just winning here.
- 49:28Speaker 4: Man, I'm all for that.
- 49:30Speaker 19: But also a head coaching Mike Rabel man a players
- 49:32Speaker 19: coaches out there, you know, holding bags for the guys,
- 49:35Speaker 19: and just a leader of men that's willing to step
- 49:38Speaker 19: aside and put itself on the line for the better
- 49:40Speaker 19: good for the team. It's an easy decision, I would say,
- 49:43Speaker 19: just the historical past this team has had all the success,
- 49:48Speaker 19: thinking about me growing up as a kid and seeing
- 49:50Speaker 19: the Patriots win.
- 49:51Speaker 20: Multiple Super Bowls, just that championship culture us.
- 49:55Speaker 17: Here being part of the historic franchise as something that
- 49:58Speaker 17: is near and dear to my heart. I can't wait
- 50:00Speaker 17: to add my.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Legacy to it.
- 50:02Speaker 17: I got to play for coach Vrabel eight years ago
- 50:04Speaker 17: at Tennessee, and when I found out I was gonna
- 50:07Speaker 17: have the opportunity to play for him again, I was
- 50:09Speaker 17: I was truly excited to get out here.
- 50:13Speaker 19: Just be a part of something that's bigger than yourself
- 50:16Speaker 19: is the ideal way of just coming out here.
- 50:17Speaker 2: And just being a Patriot.
- 50:19Speaker 20: And I felt like, you know, it was an easy
- 50:20Speaker 20: choice for me to be able to come back here
- 50:22Speaker 20: where it all started, you know, where I met my
- 50:24Speaker 20: wife at BC and really where my career took off.
- 50:27Speaker 4: I feel like as a.
- 50:27Speaker 20: Football player, Patriot players so that they always respected the
- 50:30Speaker 20: organization and the work that came with it. Man, just
- 50:34Speaker 20: being in that stadium just gave me some goosebumps or
- 50:37Speaker 20: what it can be. I'm excited just to do it.
- 50:40Speaker 14: Mac Collins underrated, big physical player.
- 50:43Speaker 6: If he plays for your team, you gonna love him
- 50:44Speaker 6: because it maybe thirty degrees below there.
- 50:46Speaker 4: He ain't got no shoes on.
- 50:47Speaker 17: I want people to push me to be the best
- 50:49Speaker 17: I can and I think that's got in the philosophy
- 50:50Speaker 17: that coach has.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Yes, the Pats were very busy today.
- 50:56Speaker 21: It ended up working out at a lot of different positions,
- 50:58Speaker 21: you know, particularly on defense, to get a lot of
- 51:00Speaker 21: our top targets and guys that we really felt comfortable
- 51:03Speaker 21: with that would fit our culture and fit the scheme
- 51:06Speaker 21: and fit what we're trying to build.
- 51:07Speaker 4: The New England Patriots. I believe you have something brewing,
- 51:10Speaker 4: something big up this league. When it comes to the
- 51:12Speaker 4: wide receiver position.
- 51:13Speaker 12: Don't be surprised if after making some of these big
- 51:16Speaker 12: moves on defense, there's a push also to get Drake
- 51:19Speaker 12: may some help as well.
- 51:20Speaker 22: You know, Coach Grave is real convincing, but he had
- 51:22Speaker 22: a career that's something that you can attest to of
- 51:25Speaker 22: all work and being a part of something specially so
- 51:27Speaker 22: tough hansome. When I got the call, it was kind
- 51:32Speaker 22: of like real simple, the more formative to the fact
- 51:35Speaker 22: of going somewhere new.
- 51:36Speaker 23: Competitiveness, the confidence, the plate demeanor, the consistency. Those are
- 51:40Speaker 23: things that excited us as a veteran wide receiver that
- 51:43Speaker 23: can come in here and help us.
- 51:45Speaker 4: Nice to meet you.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Nice to meet you.
- 51:47Speaker 14: We've been waiting for have some of your son's caliber.
- 51:53Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 51:53Speaker 18: He always want to win.
- 51:55Speaker 4: He always going to work hard.
- 51:56Speaker 3: He always going to see the players on his team
- 51:59Speaker 3: get better.
- 52:00Speaker 4: He's just a leader.
- 52:01Speaker 22: Individual accolades always will follow with the success, and I
- 52:05Speaker 22: think individual success breeds team success. I feel like this
- 52:08Speaker 22: is where God placement and this is where I'm supposed
- 52:10Speaker 22: to be. So I'm gonna give it everything that I
- 52:13Speaker 22: got and I want to win real, real bad. Everybody
- 52:19Speaker 22: that's excited, grab your popcorn, grab your jacket, let's get
- 52:23Speaker 22: to work.
- 52:29Speaker 20: Well.
- 52:29Speaker 21: I think the main thing is just finding people that
- 52:31Speaker 21: fit our culture, just some professional players to show some
- 52:34Speaker 21: of these young guys the right way to do it.
- 52:35Speaker 21: And we feel like we really accomplished that at a
- 52:37Speaker 21: lot of different positions, all the while still preparing for
- 52:40Speaker 21: the draft and getting ready, you know, because obviously that's
- 52:43Speaker 21: a big foundation piece and what we're trying to build
- 52:44Speaker 21: as a draft and developed team.
- 52:46Speaker 18: You know, you're gonna hear a lot of people and
- 52:47Speaker 18: I believe it as well. You like to draft, develop,
- 52:50Speaker 18: and then retain your own because those are the people
- 52:53Speaker 18: that you've poured the most into, you know, the best.
- 52:55Speaker 18: And then free agency, though, is another way to address
- 52:58Speaker 18: issues on your team.
- 52:59Speaker 21: We just like we needed to create competition throughout the
- 53:02Speaker 21: roster and fill some of the holes so we'd be
- 53:03Speaker 21: able to be more flexible with our draft strategy.
- 53:06Speaker 18: And this year's free agency for us is probably going
- 53:08Speaker 18: to look a lot different than next year's free agency,
- 53:11Speaker 18: and I think that's what you have to take stock
- 53:13Speaker 18: of as you go into the free agency process, which
- 53:15Speaker 18: kicks off really roster building season, is what are the
- 53:19Speaker 18: things we need to address the most what can set
- 53:21Speaker 18: us up the best to be able to take the
- 53:23Speaker 18: best players available in the draft, and year to year
- 53:25Speaker 18: that might change, you know, it just becomes one of
- 53:27Speaker 18: those things that the draft develop and retain. Is a
- 53:30Speaker 18: great concept, but if you draft well enough, ultimately you
- 53:33Speaker 18: can't pay them all. So that's why it's got to
- 53:35Speaker 18: be a constant shift. And we just have to be
- 53:36Speaker 18: intentional about not only the players that we sign in
- 53:39Speaker 18: free agency, but who those people are, because, as I
- 53:41Speaker 18: said before, the people make a big.
- 53:43Speaker 21: Difference filling a lot of those needs through free agency
- 53:46Speaker 21: and again just opening up that flexibility for the draft
- 53:49Speaker 21: so we can take the best player available at each pick.
- 54:08Speaker 4: The way they practiced, a lot of effort to.
- 54:11Speaker 23: Finish great teams go out to practice at different feats.
- 54:13Speaker 23: That's just what we're gonna do because that's the only
- 54:15Speaker 23: way that our identity can take off.
- 54:18Speaker 2: This is professional football. This is your job.
- 54:21Speaker 4: You're not on scholarship.
- 54:22Speaker 2: You don't get a red scrat year. The better be
- 54:25Speaker 2: all right, you're not tough.
- 54:28Speaker 4: You have a hard complaining this way? You mean you
- 54:31Speaker 4: can't continue statement.
- 54:32Speaker 2: You got like two steps decided to get out.
- 54:34Speaker 15: Good that kind of drills big there, then God go
- 54:38Speaker 15: work right there, tip go.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Rep get off? Got it?
- 54:42Speaker 15: We can remember it, but we can also work together, all.
- 54:45Speaker 17: Right, big weekend Sun turns twenty one.
- 54:51Speaker 23: We're in this business to win and to help players improve.
- 54:55Speaker 23: I think that they embraced the change.
- 54:58Speaker 4: I would have fit with two hunh. But like, I'm
- 55:00Speaker 4: blessed to do this, So I wake up with that that.
- 55:02Speaker 9: Grind every day you taught them.
- 55:04Speaker 4: That's only plus only thing what you thout.
- 55:11Speaker 17: I think I'm gonna score, and then I never I
- 55:12Speaker 17: think I'm gonna score, and then I never score.
- 55:14Speaker 2: You got a guy?
- 55:17Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 55:21Speaker 24: History and quick movie trivia, What famous movie director produced
- 55:26Speaker 24: a nineteen seventy one film with up and coming with
- 55:29Speaker 24: an up and coming movie director?
- 55:32Speaker 4: But what we don't know who that is? Anyway, The
- 55:37Speaker 4: answer is franc Is for Coppola, But he did a
- 55:39Speaker 4: TV show, What famous movie.
- 55:42Speaker 5: Director produced a nineteen seventy one film with an up
- 55:45Speaker 5: and coming movie director?
- 55:47Speaker 3: But like that could be anyone.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Who's the up and coming movie director?
- 55:50Speaker 4: He said, Francis Ford Coppola, No in that.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it sounds like there's two different guys, right, Yeah,
- 55:55Speaker 2: two different I don't know.

- 57:17Speaker 5: stuff and they they've actually worn their stuff but even
- 57:20Speaker 5: before Brunt became a sponsor, so it's like natural fit.
- 57:26Speaker 5: But anyway, they're based right here in New England. They

- 57:53Speaker 4: So I got to get a new pair of boots.
- 57:55Speaker 4: I did too.
- 57:56Speaker 8: I didn't wear them yesterday. I'm still afraid to put
- 57:58Speaker 8: them on and put wear them for actual work. And
- 58:00Speaker 8: I edged a mulch bed yesterday. It was very satisfying.
- 58:03Speaker 8: That's one of the things yard work that I find
- 58:05Speaker 8: just incredibly like.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Oh Jesus, mulch bed is one of those things you find,
- 58:08Speaker 2: Oh that's tough.
- 58:09Speaker 4: It wasn't very big, it wasn't very big. Wanted to
- 58:12Speaker 4: do it for a long time. I'll tell you.
- 58:14Speaker 5: One of the most satisfying things I had work around
- 58:17Speaker 5: the house. Just happened last week.
- 58:19Speaker 2: I had to.
- 58:19Speaker 5: Fix a part of the roof, so the roofers came in,
- 58:22Speaker 5: and it's an old house, long story. They nailed through
- 58:25Speaker 5: a part of the house that didn't have an installation,
- 58:27Speaker 5: so the nails came right through into this closet area.
- 58:30Speaker 5: So they had to pull all the nails. But obviously
- 58:34Speaker 5: it was a mess, so you know, they didn't know.
- 58:36Speaker 5: I didn't blame them, so I said, I'll fix it.
- 58:39Speaker 5: So I ex give me a ladder, so you know,
- 58:42Speaker 5: I shaved everything off and smoothed it out and everything,
- 58:47Speaker 5: but there was one part where there were still nails
- 58:50Speaker 5: down down below.
- 58:52Speaker 3: So I said, what am I going to do with this?
- 58:54Speaker 5: Because I'm not going to get on the roof, and
- 58:56Speaker 5: because they're underneath the shingles, I can't get to them.
- 58:59Speaker 5: So I had and I love it when I already
- 59:03Speaker 5: have the tools. So I had a you know, big,
- 59:06Speaker 5: you know, metal cutter, so I snipped as much as
- 59:08Speaker 5: the nail as I could, and then I went to
- 59:10Speaker 5: this pile of scrap wood that I've been keeping forever, like.
- 59:15Speaker 4: The perfect you did it.
- 59:17Speaker 3: You have the perfect piece, like four inch wide piece
- 59:20Speaker 3: that I cut to length, put over it.
- 59:23Speaker 4: Screwed it in.
- 59:24Speaker 3: It looked perfect, and I was like, all right, you know,
- 59:27Speaker 3: I knew I saved that would For some reason.
- 59:30Speaker 8: I've seen that in a couple of viral videos and
- 59:32Speaker 8: people making fun of that exact thing of like.
- 59:33Speaker 2: Hold on, I think I have the exact piece, and
- 59:36Speaker 2: then it's like.
- 59:36Speaker 4: That just pile of dusty.
- 59:40Speaker 3: Right perfect and it fit perfect, Like you know, I'm.
- 59:44Speaker 8: A man, all right, you're talking, See Nikki, this is
- 59:47Speaker 8: why I was keeping it.
- 59:48Speaker 2: I spend the next two weeks just chirping Beth like
- 59:52Speaker 2: this is why. See, that's just what you never know
- 59:54Speaker 2: when you're gonna need it. And she's just like, yeah, okay, honey, alright.
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: Deus talked about his uh you know story on the
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: Cape with the guy with the ashes. Brett writes in
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: He's from Leminster. He had something similar happened to me.
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: I was I was the one dumping the ashes when
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: my father died. My dad was not particularly good man
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: or father. He wanted his ashes dropped in Gloucester. As
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: I got close enough to where I was going to
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: pour them into the water, a boat came by, blasting
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: Creden's clear water Revival's fortunate Son.
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: I was at the most serious.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: I was at the most serious.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: I was going to be when I heard it ain't me.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: It ain't me, I ain't no fortunate son, and I
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: had him laugh.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: That's so there you go. Maybe it's kind of I
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: don't know what life in the fastening would have met
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: for those.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: I find those things kind of fascinating. How many times
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: something like that happened.
- 1:00:48Speaker 8: Yeah, I went to one ashes dump off a boat
- 1:00:52Speaker 8: off a long beach a long time ago.
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: It all went fine, But it's you know, a little serious.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: So have you thought about, like what you want to
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: do after your demise, Like do you care if they
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: burn wife?
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't have any You don't care. I don't either.
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: No, I'm going to be cremated just because I don't
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: want to be a prop bother for.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: Anybody where Oh I didn't. I haven't specified that. I
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: don't really care about that either.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: I have thought about, like not necessarily like reincarnation, but
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: what happens to you sort of your soul? Like can
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: you actually can you watch do you like do you
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: look down and do you like sort of revisit your life?
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: See, I've thought about this too deep.
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I think, like what am I just
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: a pretty face?
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: No? No, no, But I think in that dimension, in that state,
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: you have to forget about your senses. You have to
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: you have to forget about seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, tasting.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: They don't exist anymore. So whatever whatever it is that
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: happens to you in that pool, ain't. It's a different
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: way of perceiving things that we can't understand right now
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: because we're so you know, dependent on our senses to
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: take in information and then our brain processes it. We're
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: not going to have that anymore. So it's it's different.
- 1:02:19Speaker 8: It's different, like looking at some old clothes, maybe the
- 1:02:22Speaker 8: like I would love to be able to sort of
- 1:02:24Speaker 8: re experience my own life.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Like I'm not necessarily saying I'm going to be able
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: to watch everybody regrets, but like I.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: Should have swung at that that third strike, like that
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: was you. That's that's my biggest regret.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: But you know, I don't know if it would be
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: able to like just look down upon the world and
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: watch everything, you know, watch your kids grow up or whatever.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe that's not necessarily something I would watch,
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: but I wouldn't mind being able to experience my own
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: life and look back at the things I did right
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: the things I did.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: Wrong, and think that would do that now you know.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: No, I'm talking about more vivid fighting. Yeah, it's called reflection.
- 1:03:05Speaker 8: Well see, I might like my think the compliment is
- 1:03:07Speaker 8: like is there really time? And like everything's all happening
- 1:03:10Speaker 8: right now anyway, so like once you're.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: Back over to the other it is, it's not like, oh,
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: we're still in twenty twenty. It's like it's all there's no.
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: I would hope that i'd be released if I wouldn't,
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: because like I go to the next level, like leave
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: this life behind.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: Yeah and do something else. Yeah, yeah, you know, yeah,
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: I don't know. We'll figure it out someday.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: Release me from these mortal coils.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: Yes, Father Fred? Was that a Father fredline?
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: No, that's Shakespeare, that's Hamlet.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: Now you could have.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Still you might have heard of them.
- 1:03:45Speaker 8: So shoot, I just saw something the other day where
- 1:03:47Speaker 8: it was it was a show I think that they're
- 1:03:50Speaker 8: doing that reminded me a.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: Lot of Father Fred Crud. I wish I had snipped it,
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: but I think it was something like that, like Crud.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: I'll find it.
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: I'll try to get it for the next show.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: Did you get a chance to check out the documentary,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: the Jazz Documentary?
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: I did, Thank you Paul for asking. Very good, very good?
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: Did you did you?
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: I didn't find like I learned. I mean this might
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: you know, might be a me problem. I didn't find.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: I learned a whole lot.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: No, no, no, I mean we're already a doctor at peace.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Boy Capello put something on his Instagram saying it was
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: it was good, and I agree, it was good. It
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: was well, it was well done, I thought. But he
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: felt like there is another one and he put a
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: link to it, so I was going to try to
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: there's more in it.
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: Yeah all right, but the one you had to cancel
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: a fan event.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: I don't know what's going on.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's too bad. We were well that was,
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: you know, in fairness to them, like it's fiftieth anniversary
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: and you know, Roy Scheider's gone, Robert Shaw is gone, like.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: This the Shark is gone.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I mean, good call, good call. But
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: the one thing that that I did find interesting in
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: this was how few Hollywood people were actually in it.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: Yeah, right, and me too.
- 1:05:03Speaker 13: I know.
- 1:05:03Speaker 8: They said the basics like five people like the mayor,
- 1:05:06Speaker 8: the three leads, Lorraine Gary and I think what the
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: like the writer who is one of.
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: The none of the nobody's ever ended up being anybody,
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: and Christy Watkins.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Christy Watkins, you know, Susan Backlany, I think her name.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: She was actually a Hollywood actress. But most of the
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: people in it were either like locals that answered the ad.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: I think that even the deputy, who had a pretty
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: significant speaking role.
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: It really makes it seem like real people, right.
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: Well when you think, when you think about it, the
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: last half of the show is basically a one could
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: be done on a stage of Broadway.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: Well they've done it, Yeah they have. Yeah, it's it's
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: a show. Now the musical back to pat Patriots Unfiltered
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: on TV. Our producer for that is a guy named
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: Don Maxon, and he actually went and saw it. I
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: think Robert.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: Shaw's son, I think, is the one who produced.
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:06:01Speaker 8: A couple highlights for me were just first seeing the
- 1:06:04Speaker 8: actual mechanics of the shark that they built and how
- 1:06:07Speaker 8: exactly because I've seen plenty of diagrams, but to see
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: how it kind of worked and how it didn't work,
- 1:06:12Speaker 8: and then there were just a couple of shots from
- 1:06:15Speaker 8: uh when Alex Kittner gets eaten and when the when
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: the robot guy gets eaten that they show footage of
- 1:06:20Speaker 8: what those attacks could have looked like.
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: So you know the one.
- 1:06:23Speaker 8: Fred where the guy's coming over in the rowboat to
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: the kids, so that death. Initially the shot is just
- 1:06:28Speaker 8: Michael kind of head on and you get the feeling
- 1:06:30Speaker 8: that the shark is like maybe.
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: Gonna swim by him. But in the footage they show
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: it was like the guy was still in the shark's
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: mouth and then it like pushes Michael, so Michael's like
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: getting pushed by the shark while the guy is still
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: in the shark's mouth, which is a lot more traumatizing.
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: I mean still seeing a.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Guy get back in front of your commentary is like, yeah,
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: I didn't even send that to it.
- 1:06:51Speaker 8: But even the Alex Kittner won too, which is it's
- 1:06:54Speaker 8: been on Facebook a lot that that was supposed to
- 1:06:56Speaker 8: be a lot more graphic attack and instead they chose
- 1:07:00Speaker 8: to spoo it out slowly and give you little glimpses here,
- 1:07:03Speaker 8: so you don't ever quite know what the shark is
- 1:07:05Speaker 8: until that last shot or that shot when it comes out.
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: You think like if if Jaws had never come out,
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: the movie just didn't exist, and it came out now
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: in twenty twenty five, do you think it would be
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: a lot better back.
- 1:07:20Speaker 8: You mean, like it was made, like it was made
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: with modern technology and modern.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: Technology and like things.
- 1:07:26Speaker 8: No, I don't think it could because they digital it
- 1:07:29Speaker 8: and they and then they could be a certain point, yeah,
- 1:07:31Speaker 8: they at a certain point they would.
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: It just wouldn't have that authentic feel to it.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: So, I mean, obviously the guys that were talking about
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: that line of thought were biased because they were the
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: guys that were involved with making the Shark and yeahing
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: those kinds of things, and they feel like it definitely
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: would have suffered. Cgi. Even James Cameron I thought was
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: pretty interesting. Well, I'm talking about some of that stuff.
- 1:07:51Speaker 8: James Cameron made one of my other favorite movies, Aliens,
- 1:07:53Speaker 8: which in eighty six was all practical too. At one
- 1:07:56Speaker 8: point when I was in California, I heard Stan Winston,
- 1:07:58Speaker 8: who did all the effects for it before you before
- 1:08:00Speaker 8: he died, speak and you know, he said, you can
- 1:08:02Speaker 8: go back to eighty six and this all still holds up.
- 1:08:04Speaker 8: It still looks like you are in the movie. He's like,
- 1:08:07Speaker 8: I watched this stuff now that we do with the
- 1:08:08Speaker 8: digital effects, and it takes you out of it.
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: But maybe, like I'm.
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: Not even saying that if they did it now, they
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: would resonate with people. Maybe the shark would be you know,
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: the physical shark would be that much better, and maybe
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: the script would be more hard, hard hitting, Yeah, like
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: more swearing or more realistic.
- 1:08:27Speaker 8: Yeah, well, in the right hands, I think you're you're right,
- 1:08:29Speaker 8: Like if there was somebody like a Spielberg who wanted
- 1:08:31Speaker 8: to build a modern shark and really do it practical
- 1:08:34Speaker 8: to James Cameron.
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: Because I think it's hard.
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: To get scared of things that your brain processes.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: As that's that's a computer digit like.
- 1:08:43Speaker 8: But there's something about puppetry and when it's done well
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: that it really looks real and it doesn't take you
- 1:08:48Speaker 8: out of it. You still think that that shark was
- 1:08:51Speaker 8: as bad as that shark was and as mechanical, they
- 1:08:52Speaker 8: did an amazing job showing it just enough to make
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: I thought some of the things that they were talking about,
- 1:08:57Speaker 8: like the marine biologists and things like that, talking about
- 1:08:59Speaker 8: how it would breach and then go to the side
- 1:09:02Speaker 8: when it was attacking.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: That's extremely realistic the way that they shot some of
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: the scenes, and that's exactly.
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: How a great white would attack. It's prey. Uh huh.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: And I don't know if they knew all that when
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: they were doing it.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: Was it was there a clip there was somebody called
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: it the perfect movie.
- 1:09:18Speaker 8: I think it might have been Quentin Tarantino. But I
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: was just laughing thinking to Evan, who was like, yeah,
- 1:09:22Speaker 8: it doesn't hold up.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: Oh I was, I was.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: It was so funny. There was a lot of those,
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: and again they didn't get the people that didn't like
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: it to participate in the documentary. There was plenty of
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: people that were not, you know, involved in the project
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: who spoke like.
- 1:09:37Speaker 8: That, yeah, well what's her face Emily Emily Blunt, which
- 1:09:40Speaker 8: I like, what's she doing here?
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Yeah? Uh.
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: Jesse writes in for Pomona, California, can't wait to hear
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: the excitement from Fred during training camp.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: It gets me pumped.
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: Paul's persuasiveness to not get my hopes up, Deuce's optimistic
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: attitude on the defensive side of the ball, Alex's insight
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: stories of all the new players, Evans wrought talent to
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: explain what's going on out there? Uh practice practice practice
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: question Week three against the Steelers. My wife and I
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: will be there to watch the game. It'll be our
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: first time traveling to Boston. What and who will you be?
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: Great, so there's no question after that.
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: What and who would you be willing to trade for
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: Terry McLaurin? What you want second round pick McLaurin.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: No, you're not going to get them for that, okay,
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: but I'd be willing to do that. Well, I mean
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: I shouldn't say you're not. That's not fair, Like you
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: never know. Maybe they just get tired of it and
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: they want to make a move. I would think it
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: would be a first round pick. But yeah, I would
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: give up a first round pick from Yeah, but I would.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: It's hard because I don't know exactly how good that
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: they expect to be. If they think they're going to
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: be like this ten win team that can make the playoffs,
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: I would do that.
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: You over the top, Yeah, gets you into that.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Maybe make sure that we're going to win double wins
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: and you know, because there's still I think Fred's concern
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: about the wide receiver spot is valid. Yeah, I do.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: I think that they might be missing still at that spot.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: Do you think, like the NBA is famous for future
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: picks future draft picks, and the NFL does it a
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: little bit, But do you think like when it comes
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: to first round picks, the league will ever start like
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: take a thing like this, I don't want to give
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: him next year, but I'll give him a first round
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: pick two years from now, And that might ever become
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: a thing in the NFL.
- 1:11:34Speaker 8: I mean, it's regimes changed so quick. It's with lower
- 1:11:39Speaker 8: round picks, Yeah, they do.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: Like you hear about that once in a while, with
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: lower's second round pick this year, it's next year.
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: Yeah, it's usually like a year. But like there's no
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: like really looking into the future.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: Like like no, Like the NBA is ridiculous.
- 1:11:52Speaker 8: You think the owners are resistant to that because then
- 1:11:54Speaker 8: it might handcuff a future coach from doing what they
- 1:11:58Speaker 8: need to do. So you know, yes, somebody come in
- 1:12:00Speaker 8: and they clean you out of your draft picks for
- 1:12:02Speaker 8: the next four years, and then their.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: Horror could help a future coach.
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: You know, if they get the town, you're getting the pick.
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: You know, I just be careful.
- 1:12:11Speaker 8: I think I just think that's the easiest way to
- 1:12:14Speaker 8: stay good is to draft well and if you keep
- 1:12:16Speaker 8: your picks and you're you know, don't go chase the
- 1:12:19Speaker 8: car and try to chase the shiny object. If you
- 1:12:22Speaker 8: stay the course and you just have solid drafts everything.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: Like to me, like, let's just say that you lose
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: Terry McLaurin and you don't get a first round draft
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: pick for him for like two years down the road,
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: that still is now an asset in my pocket.
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't have to I now can use that.
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: First round pick to do something I wanted, you know,
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: So I would love to see them start trading these
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: picks like that a little bit more. I think it
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: would open it up for teams to exchange players a
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: little bit.
- 1:12:50Speaker 8: I mean, it's it feels a little bit like putting
- 1:12:51Speaker 8: it on the credit card and yeah, we'll worry about
- 1:12:53Speaker 8: that down down the road a little bit.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: The first round pick, the first round pick, you know,
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: it could go up and value or could go down
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: at value.
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: It's hard to project too, because what what's that like?
- 1:13:04Speaker 8: Are they going to be terrible in two years and
- 1:13:06Speaker 8: that's going to be a top five first round pick,
- 1:13:08Speaker 8: or are they are these moves going to allow them
- 1:13:10Speaker 8: to get a Super Bowl and that's going to be
- 1:13:11Speaker 8: a thirty. I mean, it's a huge disparity between what
- 1:13:14Speaker 8: the value might be and even harder to project that
- 1:13:16Speaker 8: far out.
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: Spi and Fresno. Here's a little game I call sleeping
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: with the enemy. I'll list pairs of sports foes and
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: you have to choose which one you side with, not
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: saying you're necessarily root for either in a competitive context,
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: just picked between them in terms of which you like
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: or respect more. At a gut level, it's not who's
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: your worst enemy, it's who's your best enemy?
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: Peyton or Matt Magic? Peyton?
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Who do I likening?
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: Vers Menage John?
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: Who do I like more?
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: Peyton Manning?
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: Yeah? But uh, Marianno or Jeter Mariano Rivera.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Let's talking about Mariano Rivera.
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: Yeah, Terrell Suggs or Richard Sherman.
- 1:14:01Speaker 8: Uh Sugs Shermans a bad guy.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Sherman's kind of allowed a bad bad guy. Yeah, didn't
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: you like throw bleach on his girlfriend or somebody?
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: Sherman?
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Ray Lewis or lt.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Oh do I like more? That's tough Ray Lewis, That's
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: a tough one.
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: Though.
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: Here's a trio to rank Mike Tomlin, Rex Ryan, Andy Reid.
- 1:14:29Speaker 8: Oh, in terms of like yeah, Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin,
- 1:14:33Speaker 8: Rex Ryan, Yeah.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: That's how I like all those guys.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: I would go Andy Reid, Rex Rex Ryan, Mike Tomlin.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: Okay, Kevin Colbert or Bill Pollian, Yeah, Tom Brady or
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: Bill Belichick. Bill, we need to do that one, Eric
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: Scalavino or your many rescue dog with active rabies.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: That's the that's come on, that's just poor to me.
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: Yeah, of course we take the dog.
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: Let's see.
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: Let's go back to the phones. They're piling up here.
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: People are waiting patiently, I might.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: Add, Oh, and especially for this one.
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: You can't Virginia, what's up to see?
- 1:15:18Speaker 9: Oh God, how you go doing?
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: Good? Good? I wanted to talk about what John. We'll
- 1:15:24Speaker 9: talk about that first, Like the first part of this
- 1:15:25Speaker 9: segment about there's probably not get certain kind of winds
- 1:15:31Speaker 9: or whatever, like you gonna look at it. Most don't
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: really perfect for real, some of the things you guys
- 1:15:36Speaker 9: mentioned or whatever you got talking about. I mean, there's
- 1:15:39Speaker 9: a uh, this is gota come to dital Smith or whatever.
- 1:15:43Speaker 9: Because he was at pianos. He was throwing through and
- 1:15:48Speaker 9: like the Locket, Uh a good book. I can't probably
- 1:15:53Speaker 9: putting his name at Calf. Look, we're gonna be throws
- 1:15:56Speaker 9: to in in oplan.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Brock Powers and Jacoby brock Bowers might be better than
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: any of the guys who was throwing to in Seattle.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Brock Bowers might be better than anyone he was throwing
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: in in Seattle.
- 1:16:11Speaker 9: Yeah, but you have to have multiple guys though.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Jacobe Myers, they had two and you have the
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: Raiders have two.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: He might have one of the most dynamic running backs
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: in the league.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: We don't know yeteah, I mean, I'm not telling you
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: what the Raiders are going to be because like my
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: Boyfeller girl likes to say, I can't see the future.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: I don't know what's going to happen. But on paper,
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: they have the makings of a decent skill crew. That's interesting.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Chip Kelly there as the new offensive coordinator. That could
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: absolutely work. Like you know, Tyler Lockett was at the
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: end of the road Smith and Jig but was a
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: good slot receiver and DK Metcalf was kind of a
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: one trick pony. Yeah, they have brock Bowers and Jacoby
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: Myers's to me, that's comple That's comparable and gent he's
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: better than any running back.
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: Then I believe the Patriot.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: Maybe we'll see. Yeah, well I hope. So we talk
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: about Max Crosby.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: They didn't they didn't last year. That's you know, that's all. Yeah,
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: but they have absolutely improved on paper defensive, so that
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: some guys that should be better than what they had
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: last year.
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: Shawn.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: Right now, the Patriots are favored by three in that game.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: So the odds makers sound like they agree with you.
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: Right now it's three and a half.
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: Well you say that, that's you don't have speakers, don't
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: have the time.
- 1:17:31Speaker 9: Person for the most part is Meca and I'm.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: Good huh yep.
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: And and we've got the best cornerback duo in the league.
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: So that.
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, all right, you've convinced me one and
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: oh one and no, Deshaun, thanks for the call. Let's
- 1:17:52Speaker 5: go to Dan and Poughkeepsie.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: What's up, Dan?
- 1:17:57Speaker 12: Hey guys, are you guys playing another game?
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: Overall? Was up for games?
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: I would love to play playing games.
- 1:18:04Speaker 12: All right. It's called get that player. I'm going to
- 1:18:07Speaker 12: describe a play in Patriots history. All you have to
- 1:18:09Speaker 12: do is get the Patriot involved.
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: Paul will the spotlights on, Paul, Yeah, all right, go ahead.
- 1:18:17Speaker 12: Right so first twenty fourteen AFC Championship game against the Colts.
- 1:18:22Speaker 12: In the third third quarter, a sixteen year touchdown was
- 1:18:24Speaker 12: caught by this non receiver to expand the lead.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: Nate Soldier.
- 1:18:28Speaker 25: Yeah.
- 1:18:30Speaker 12: Nineteen ninety three, Week eighteen versus the Dolphins. In the
- 1:18:33Speaker 12: fourth quarter, one fourteen left in the game, Drew Bledstone
- 1:18:37Speaker 12: conceded an eleven yard go ahead touchdown to this player.
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: Oh, well, go ahead because.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: Right, Michael Timpson.
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: It was actually Ben Coates be okay.
- 1:18:52Speaker 12: Twenty sixteen, Week fourteen against the Ravens. First quarter, this
- 1:18:56Speaker 12: player jumped over the center to block a Justin Tucker
- 1:18:59Speaker 12: field goal.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: Shane McClellan, Yeah, that's correct.
- 1:19:05Speaker 12: Wild Card versus the Jets, second quarter. Vince Player caught
- 1:19:09Speaker 12: a touchdown pass in the back of the unzoned seconds
- 1:19:11Speaker 12: before halftime to help it make seventeen to ten.
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: Oh, I remember that, I love Jabar Gaffney.
- 1:19:19Speaker 12: It was actually Daniel Graham.
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: Okay, took a shot and then this is the last one.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Can't win if you don't play hard.
- 1:19:28Speaker 12: Nineteen eighty five Wild Card versus the Jets, third quarter.
- 1:19:33Speaker 12: Vince player recovered a fumble and returned it fifteen yards
- 1:19:36Speaker 12: for a touchdown on a fumbled kickoff.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Oh, jos, Cidrick Jones, is that the right answer?
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: I just watched this. I should know, CG. Jones.
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: Now I was going to go Jim Bowman, but Deuce
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: was going Ciedrick Jones.
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: It was Johnny Rembert.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: I remember, now you should I shouldn't know.
- 1:19:58Speaker 12: I know.
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: That's a good game. And I love excellent good stuff.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: Excellent game. Not an easy one, yeah, not a couple though.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Let's see who is this person? Somebody named Christian in La.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: What's up, Christian?
- 1:20:13Speaker 9: Yeah, hey you guys. Hope you guys are having a
- 1:20:14Speaker 9: great summer.
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 1:20:16Speaker 25: I just came back from taking my kids up and
- 1:20:18Speaker 25: driving up and down the coast of Oregon. Great this
- 1:20:22Speaker 25: time of year. Just didos and kind of chick out
- 1:20:25Speaker 25: the coast, and I hope you guys.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: Just plays the hits every time you went a convertible.
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: Were you guys in a convertible.
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: On the coast, But we were in a Tesla Tesla.
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: On the way down. You just stopping wine country A.
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: Little bit.
- 1:20:43Speaker 9: Eleven year old and thirteen year.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: Old with kids, so they swam with the Do you
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: had an anty taking them?
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:20:49Speaker 9: Right know, dude. From a guy's perspective, it was good talk,
- 1:20:55Speaker 9: you know, the guys to young guys, just trying to
- 1:20:57Speaker 9: seeing how their heads are these days as young or
- 1:21:00Speaker 9: a different than when we were young.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: Have you had to talk yet?
- 1:21:05Speaker 25: No, because I think that they're they're kind of seeing
- 1:21:08Speaker 25: that stuff in the intering that thing, and I want
- 1:21:10Speaker 25: to figure out how to approach it from beth respectus
- 1:21:13Speaker 25: like we were young Turty magazine under the uncle's you know, mattress, so.
- 1:21:18Speaker 9: There was a greater way to talk about it. I'm
- 1:21:21Speaker 9: trying to figure that out still, Okay, all right, sure,
- 1:21:25Speaker 9: I'm mad at you guys. I got a boot to
- 1:21:26Speaker 9: pick at you guys because and it goes with this
- 1:21:29Speaker 9: call earlier. But someone that said they weren't happy with
- 1:21:32Speaker 9: him wins And it kind of sounded like my call
- 1:21:34Speaker 9: like a couple of weeks.
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it wasn't It wasn't you. It was on a
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: different show, right, I brought you up.
- 1:21:40Speaker 25: I'm saying it kind of sounded like my call that
- 1:21:42Speaker 25: you guys and the rest of the callers gave me
- 1:21:44Speaker 25: up about with my call. It was with a great
- 1:21:48Speaker 25: season or a good season, and I said, for me,
- 1:21:51Speaker 25: a great season would need to be getting always Tama
- 1:21:54Speaker 25: Ways and getting a playoff when you guys gave me gup,
- 1:21:56Speaker 25: and I thought about that. Here's why I'm angry at
- 1:21:59Speaker 25: you guys. If you guys look at low into it,
- 1:22:01Speaker 25: since it's some places like a Jets fan or or
- 1:22:04Speaker 25: a Cleveland Browns fan where you're like, they're the last
- 1:22:07Speaker 25: two years really had four wins.
- 1:22:08Speaker 9: So yeah, it lookd be great to get eight, nine,
- 1:22:10Speaker 9: ten wins. That would be a great season. No, we
- 1:22:13Speaker 9: are coming off of twenty years, twenty years of excellent.
- 1:22:17Speaker 9: Look to me as a Patriots fan, I expect to
- 1:22:21Speaker 9: get back to that. Eight wins, nine wins, that's a
- 1:22:25Speaker 9: good season, ten wins in a playoff game.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: So this didn't have anything to do with the call
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: that I was talking about then, because you got the
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: guy that called on our show when I was on
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: with Zoe and Tim mccoon last week, said it would
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: be a bad season, not a good season or a
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: great season, a bad season. He's not interested in winning
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: ten games. He thinks that would not be good. He'd
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: be upset with that is what he said. So we
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: really didn't have anything to do with this call. Yeah,
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: and it's not the same at all.
- 1:22:52Speaker 9: He probably shared some of what I'm feeling.
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: You know, it doesn't it sounds like you think that
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: would be good. No, you think you think ten wins
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: would be good. We think it would be great. This
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: guy thinks it would be bad. So it's really got
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: nothing to do with what you're saying at all.
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: And Plus, if you really think they're going to get
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: back to the dynasty, I mean we all hope they will,
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: but is that realistic?
- 1:23:13Speaker 20: No?
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: I just would caution you to just instead of worrying
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: about the twenty years that happened twenty five years ago,
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: happened about why don't you focus on the last five
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: years and what happened then and then say you wouldn't
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: be happy with ten wins? Right?
- 1:23:25Speaker 9: Not that focus in the last fight. That's not who
- 1:23:27Speaker 9: we have.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: Been, But that's who you are. So that is who
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: you are.
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: I'm not who I was twenty years ago, and there's
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: no sense.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: Worrying about twenty eighteen. Yeah, that was a long time ago.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: I didn't say anything about satisfaction. I said, that's who
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: you are.
- 1:23:45Speaker 9: I could be satisfied.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: I didn't say you should be satisfied. You can do
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: whatever you want. As a fan, I don't. I don't
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: tell people what to what to feel, and what to think,
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: but I think that people have a warped sense of
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: what is actually a successful scene.
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: Wanting to win super Bowls is different than expecting them
- 1:24:04Speaker 5: to win Super Bowl.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: Yes, the goal is to win a super Bowl, but
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: the reality is you're not in position to win a Super.
- 1:24:09Speaker 9: Bowl team if you have nothing to draw on like
- 1:24:12Speaker 9: other teams. I can see how you guys are feeling,
- 1:24:14Speaker 9: but we do have something to draw on.
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: No, you don't, not recently, you don't.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: Do you ever won a playoff game since twenty eighteen.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: If our roster was the same roster as twenty fourteen,
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: I'd be right with you.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: But it's not.
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: These are a whole different players, different coach, everything's different.
- 1:24:30Speaker 9: Look exactly what I'm saying. We got new coaches, and
- 1:24:34Speaker 9: we supposedly did a kind a good draft. So yeah,
- 1:24:37Speaker 9: the expectation that we are getting back to what we're
- 1:24:39Speaker 9: supposed to be, that's what We've got a new coach.
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: What's the what's the empirical evidence that you have that
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: they will get back to where you think they should be,
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: which is dynasty.
- 1:24:51Speaker 25: My empirical evidence is that supposedly they've hired the right coach.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: Well, you just you just entered a.
- 1:24:58Speaker 5: Word into the conversation. That's not a miracle. You said, supposedly.
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: I'm talking about hard evidence. What hard evidence do you
- 1:25:05Speaker 5: have that they are now a Super Bowl contender.
- 1:25:09Speaker 9: It hasn't happened yet, But that even hasn't what you thought.
- 1:25:13Speaker 13: Haven't even happened yet.
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: I know, I know, but hasn't happened yet. It brings
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: something else up that you guys used to Thanks Christian,
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: another good try to troll everybody.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: You guys used to browbeat Andy and I when we said,
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: you know, there are other teams that have had successful
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: runs during the Remember we talk about like, you know,
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: the Eagles going to four NFC Championship games in a row,
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: and you know, they didn't have to say the Colts.
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: Were and were not for the Patriots, they would be Colts.
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: And now with Kansas City's doing and we've been mocked
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: and ridiculed for pointing out that other teams have actually
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: been successful too, because quote, no one will ever do
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: what the Patriots did over that twenty year span. Right,
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: how many times you hear people say that, Freddy sure,
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: that will never happen again. Now I'm supposed to think
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: the Patriots should be back to doing that, Right, You
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: guys spent two decades telling me that no one will
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: ever do that again. It's the greatest dynasty in the
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: history of sport and it will never be delicated with
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: Tom Brady and Bill Belichick did. No one will ever
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: do that again. And now I can't be happy unless I.
- 1:26:19Speaker 5: Get back to that, And to expect them to do
- 1:26:21Speaker 5: that is diminishing what that was like. The fact that
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: you think it can be repeated so quickly takes away
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: from how amazing that was.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: I'm sorry if I'm going to be happy to win
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: ten games. If they happen to win ten games this year,
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: I'm not expecting them to ever have a stretch of
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: dominance over a twenty year period that they had. I'm
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: not expecting that. If it happens, great, but I'm not
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: going to sit there and say I'm not going to
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: be happy unless it's going to be like it was
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: back in the day, because I want to enjoy my
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: team like I'm not going to like expect something that's
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: so un realistic that maybe it's like lightning in a
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: bottle and it happens once a lifetime.
- 1:27:05Speaker 8: And that's what I was just gonna say, you'd be
- 1:27:06Speaker 8: lucky to catch lightning in a bottle. Again, there's a
- 1:27:09Speaker 8: handful of teams that consistently are in the running for
- 1:27:11Speaker 8: Super Bowl, but I would say a large majority of
- 1:27:13Speaker 8: super Bowl champions are really made out of teams that
- 1:27:16Speaker 8: have two or three year runs where they're really good,
- 1:27:18Speaker 8: and they have Super Bowl this year, I'm not going
- 1:27:22Speaker 8: to be happy because that's only one right.
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: It's a good start, and it's a good start, it's
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: something to be excited about going forward. But if they
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: don't do it for twenty years, it's not the same.
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: And to the main flaw among many in Christian's argument
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: is that this team has done it before. No, it
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: hasn't a team named the Patriots did it. This team,
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: as it's comprised, has never done that before, has never
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: done that before, and there's no evidence right now that
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: they can do that. To want that, we all want that,
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: but to expect that again is completely crazy.
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: You're gonna be disappointed for the rest of your life.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: And that's where Christians. You know, first of all, I
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: don't really believe that he believes this.
- 1:28:05Speaker 12: Ing.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: If that's what he's wanting, that's you're prerogative as a fan,
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: but you're never going to have a standard that you
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: want to reach. But I don't think that's ever going
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: to give you any fulfillment because I don't think it's
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: realistic that they're going to have another twenty year run
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: that's going to duplicate what they did, and.
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: How many teams just want one, They just want one.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: Kansas City is not even halfway there, right, I mean,
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: they're halfway there in terms of Super Bowl titles, but
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: they're not halfway there in terms of twenty years of dominance.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: Should you not be happy if you're in Kansas City
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: because it's pales in comparison, or are you happy because, well,
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: Kansas City's never done it so they don't know, Like,
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: it's not a complacency. I don't want to be a
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: bottom dweller, So if they can move themselves from a
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: bottom dweller to a playoff contender, I would consider that progress.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: Absolutely no one likes four and thirteen seasons.
- 1:28:56Speaker 8: I mean, with Joe Cardona out the door, there's nothing left.
- 1:28:58Speaker 8: There's nothing left from that wild run. This is completely
- 1:29:01Speaker 8: new and how lucky you would be if it's.
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: Gonna be the next seventh season removed from a playoff win.
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: It's a lot.
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: I mean, I said, that's what you are. We're not
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: the twenty years that happened from from all one to during.
- 1:29:13Speaker 5: The dynasty, we were pulling our hair out because it
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: was ten years since they'd won a super Bowl.
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: Meanwhile, during that ten years, they were.
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: In yeah, they were in super Bowls. They were in
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: conference championships every ye week. They go eleven in conference
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: championships in a row, something silly like that.
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: But our expectations back then was we haven't won one,
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: which okay, eleven.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: To eighteen, you know how many whatever that is nine.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: Because you were always close every year. But we're so
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: far removed from that.
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: Like no, no, good, good try Christian. But he is
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: a like a next level Oh he gets he gets excited.
- 1:29:47Speaker 8: Well if you can embody the spoiled Patriots fan and
- 1:29:49Speaker 8: be like, you know, I have unrealistic exce but he's.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: Good at it. Like even like he starts off, I
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: just you know, the drive down from Oregon, like it's
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: definitely and I do I appreciate it because, as you
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: guys know, I like to be snarky. I like that.
- 1:30:03Speaker 8: That's you know what's another part of the though, Fred,
- 1:30:05Speaker 8: I don't think that we as like the players like
- 1:30:07Speaker 8: all these players like they have no concept of what
- 1:30:10Speaker 8: that Patriots teams like, they.
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: Have no connection to it.
- 1:30:13Speaker 8: A guy like Robert Spelane has been, you know, slowly
- 1:30:16Speaker 8: working his way up, and he is superhull.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: Pepper who's never been on a winning team. I mean, right,
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: do you think he'd be happy to go ten and
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: seven thrilled? Make the playoffs feel like he's part of buildings?
- 1:30:27Speaker 5: And yes, that shouldn't be your ultimate goal, but babe,
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: you know, we got to get.
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: To a level of respectability first. James James writes in
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: Army James at North Carolina Army, thank you for your service.
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: If that's true, Hey.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Guys, longtime custon of stealing valor.
- 1:30:51Speaker 5: Well, he says that's a shot at Marine Matt, So
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: I don't know if he's kidding or not.
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: I guess army versus Marine? Maybe is that what he's saying?
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: That much? Oh, long time listener, long enough to be
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: confident that the Africa book never came out.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: I think, be confident confidence.
- 1:31:12Speaker 5: I'm excited to get a chance to see the legit
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: talent on this team. With experience and the coaching staff
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: and some luck, hopefully we can sidestep the ever present
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: injury bug. What depth moves can be made before week
- 1:31:24Speaker 5: one to most prepare us to play next Man up ball?
- 1:31:30Speaker 8: Grab another edge, Grab one of the veteran edges that
- 1:31:33Speaker 8: are out there, just a little somebody's played support, build some.
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: Depth that'll help you play next man up ball. Yeah,
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: I think so.
- 1:31:41Speaker 8: I mean, I think that's just a place where you
- 1:31:43Speaker 8: lose one guy and it's it's gonna get hard to
- 1:31:45Speaker 8: play next Man up ball. You're gonna quickly be putting
- 1:31:48Speaker 8: guys into you know, positions that.
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: They all stay healthy. I think they'll be okay. But
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: that's one place I think you pull the thread. It
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: unravels pretty quick. Paul's pawn it brought up left tackle.
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: I mean, that's I don't know if there's.
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: Anything generally, because one of them is thirty four fives, yeah,
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: and the other ones, you know, just starting his career,
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: and I don't I think if you lose either one
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: of them, you're right back where you were last year.
- 1:32:13Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm hoping that maybe different coaching staff can get
- 1:32:16Speaker 8: different results.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: Of Maybe Kayden Wallace is a better right tackle this
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: year than he was last.
- 1:32:20Speaker 8: One of these more prepared something, you know, something emergency.
- 1:32:25Speaker 8: You know, can Kad and Wallas just be the swing
- 1:32:26Speaker 8: tackle where Yeah, it was like Cam Fleming, like a
- 1:32:29Speaker 8: guy who just like you know, when he has to
- 1:32:31Speaker 8: go in there, he's fine like you.
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: It doesn't it doesn't fall apart if he has to
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: go in there. And there was the kid, Uh do
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: we have two different Jacobs tackles? I know, Dimantra Jacobs.
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: There was another one that was seventy two.
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: Might have been the Jacobs they got really him.
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: Like it kind of fell apart when he had to
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: go with Yeah, yeah, I don't remember his name. I
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: don't mean to be disrespectful, but you guys know, if
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: you ask me something from nineteen eighty two, I can
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: get you. He asked me something from last year, I can't.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: But yeah, when that kid went in, it kind of deteriorated.
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: So you want to get to a point where you
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: have a little bit better options. And I think if
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: Cayden Wallace, to Mike's point, turns out to be a
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: good solid swing tackle that you know, I don't have
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: to I can set it and forget it. If he
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: has to go in, I don't have to change my offense.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: That would be a great sign.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: Yeah, Dylan writes in says I wanted to clear up
- 1:33:27Speaker 5: the gatekeeping take from last week. Since Fred doesn't read
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: my emails, I can't read them all. It was presented
- 1:33:34Speaker 5: somewhat disingenuously that some fans gatekeep the Patriots fan base
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: if you're fans of other teams such as the Yankees
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: and Bulls.
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: That's not true.
- 1:33:44Speaker 5: What actually happens is that when the Celtics or Red
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: Sox do good, the crew talks about it, and then
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: fans have to write a call to say stick to
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: the Patriots because not everyone is a fan of all
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: Boston sports. And in that case, yes, we're better than
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: you anyway. Red Sox ten in a row, baby one
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: hundred million less than the Yankees, and we have the
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: same record. Drake may will be top ten quarterback this year.
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: Book it okay, hope don't. I don't understand what he's saying.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: Why does it make you feel good? That you spend
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: one hundred million less than somebody.
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't care.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: What do you make? What did you get from that?
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: Paying your most expensive tickets in the league? But what
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: it's a lot in it for you.
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: Then, But do you understand the last part of this?
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: The crew talks about it, and then fans have to
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: write or call to say stick to Patriots because not
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: everyone is a fan of all boss and sports. I
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: get that, and in that case, yes, we're better than you.
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: Who's who's us? We are better?
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: Who's we'd like?
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: Patriots fans like who like the I this is something
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: that happened last week. I don't know. There's gatekeeping things,
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: so I don't know the origins. Well it's it's but
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: I take it as he's talking about fan Patriots fans.
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: Fans don't like the newcomers.
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: They key there are no long time Patriots fans. They've
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: been around since week three of All One.
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: Well the band they don't like the Bandwagon fans.
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, so.
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: I'm not your fans.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: You don't understand.
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: And he's another email.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Okay, he's just thinking about the health of Richard dry.
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: I told you for we worked with Richard Dreyfus who
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: was kind of painting the butt. I've heard that a lot.
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: I've heard that a lot.
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: It just seems like very smug and arrogant, kind of
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: like Jason Alexander.
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: Sure, oh yeah, Like Jim's really going downhill with.
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: Commercials and George. Yeah, I wonder if he had some
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: bad investments that he's trying to chase now, because I
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: agree he's been in some like commercial money's passing.
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: Do you think like he.
- 1:35:45Speaker 5: Or Michael Richards ever calls Jerry say he could you
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: give me a little bit of money?
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: I mean, like, I know you and Michael, what.
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: Do you think about getting the band back together?
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: You know, can you do some type of fundraiser for me?
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: Because the other two are highly successful?
- 1:35:59Speaker 8: You yeah, right, But if George is doing commercials and stuff,
- 1:36:05Speaker 8: well we were just talking about the type of commercials
- 1:36:06Speaker 8: are like, you know, but.
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: He's probably making some pretty good money.
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: Doing Oh sure, but like still like.
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: And Michael Richards got himself in some trouble, right, oh yeah,
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: he got kind of cant.
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: He got I don't even know if he lives in
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: America anymore.
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: Really.
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: Sean's and Vancouver on the Hotline what's up Sean.
- 1:36:24Speaker 10: Hey Paul, I'm your age and I've been on a
- 1:36:26Speaker 10: Patriots fan for as long as I can remember, so
- 1:36:29Speaker 10: that's a way before two thousand and one.
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: No, I'm talking about what they're talking about, the Johnny
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: cum latelies. Oh yeah, there's a lot, that's what they're
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: railing against. Not I mean, obviously I grew up here.
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: I've been a Patriots fan my whole life.
- 1:36:43Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, that makes sense. So I just want to
- 1:36:47Speaker 10: talk about Jaws of that. You were mentioning that there
- 1:36:49Speaker 10: weren't a lot of big stars, but when when this
- 1:36:51Speaker 10: movie was before it actually was shot, the initial budget
- 1:36:54Speaker 10: was was four millions, so they didn't expect it.
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: To be Can I just interrupt it for one second, Sean,
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: they actually had big star Like Robert Shaw was a
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: big star. They didn't have any Hollywood actors. There was
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: I believe seven.
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: Yea like all the supporting roles.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: Most of the people that show up on the movie
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: were not like professional actors and actresses. It was as
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: Mike said, it was Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider, Lemaine, Gary
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: Richard Dreyfus, Carl Gottlieb and Chrissy Watkins and Susan murk
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: Lee and the mayor Murray Hamilton. Murray Hamilton. That was it.
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: Everybody else was like either an extra or a local
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: some some sort. They weren't like Hollywood actors and actresses.
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: But the ones that they had were good names, like
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: Richard du Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw especially, they were
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: big names.
- 1:37:47Speaker 10: You know that they were Paul, there were people like
- 1:37:49Speaker 10: that were really raking in the box up. So and
- 1:37:52Speaker 10: this is Pielberg's second big movie, like his circulant expresses
- 1:37:56Speaker 10: when it was coming off, but he didn't have the
- 1:37:59Speaker 10: the a name that you would later get.
- 1:38:02Speaker 4: You know, well, I think not having like the huge,
- 1:38:05Speaker 4: huge superstar.
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: I think at the end now you know, in hindsight
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: helped the movie. Like it wasn't like you don't remember
- 1:38:12Speaker 5: the movie for Paul Newman or Robert Redford. You know,
- 1:38:16Speaker 5: you remember the movie for like what happened in the movie.
- 1:38:21Speaker 10: Yeah, and then the box office was like huge. It
- 1:38:24Speaker 10: was way bigger than any other Americans fult made in
- 1:38:27Speaker 10: that con seventy five minutes. It actually became the first
- 1:38:30Speaker 10: summer blockbuster. Yep, that wasn't a time when big movies were.
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: Even released, absolutely true.
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, okaying, all right, thanks Sean. Do you
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: remember where you were the first time you saw Jaws?
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: No, you don't know.
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: I really I was. I was on the cape. I
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: just don't remember. I don't remember the specific problem movie.
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: I probably like so many times, or Hyennus something, because
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: that's where we used to go.
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: I really don't know if I've ever seen a theater either.
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: I mean, that's why I kind of want to go next.
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: I was in the theater and it was packed, and
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: we sat in the very first row, and I was
- 1:39:04Speaker 5: a kid, you know, and like.
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: When that head popped out of the boat, you.
- 1:39:09Speaker 8: Know, it comes out Friday, last Friday, August, and I'm
- 1:39:13Speaker 8: gonna be tempted, and we all come in here if
- 1:39:15Speaker 8: it's a slow camp day.
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: Hello yourself, young fellow. Hello, Yeah, that guy that's Ben Gardner. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: I didn't know that I was. I was fifty seven
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: years old when I found out that that was Ben. Yeah,
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: I learned.
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: I learned that recently too, that that's theme.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: I did not make the connection. It was the same guy.
- 1:39:30Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, it's the same guy doing the I got
- 1:39:33Speaker 8: their mothers down and doing the whole speech on the
- 1:39:35Speaker 8: boat going on yep.
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: Uh, let's see, let's go to Atlanta. Raised on the line,
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: what's up?
- 1:39:41Speaker 13: Ray Hey?
- 1:39:42Speaker 14: I yep hey piggedback on what you Wall was saying, Paul,
- 1:39:49Speaker 14: and I agree with everything he's saying because it's not
- 1:39:53Speaker 14: about being uh pestimistic, you know, it's not about being
- 1:39:58Speaker 14: a Debbie downer. But it's like, we have yet to
- 1:40:01Speaker 14: see what they're gonna do, you know, because it's like
- 1:40:05Speaker 14: it sounds good, you know, seeing the videos and seeing
- 1:40:08Speaker 14: the practices and stuff like that, but it's like if
- 1:40:11Speaker 14: that no one's executing, then there's gonna be another terrible season,
- 1:40:16Speaker 14: you know. And we're all hype it's gonna be more
- 1:40:19Speaker 14: greater than its gonna be better than last year. But
- 1:40:23Speaker 14: they still have to put in the work, you know,
- 1:40:25Speaker 14: because we can, we can have a super team, a
- 1:40:30Speaker 14: super squad. But it's like, okay, now what you're gonna do?
- 1:40:34Speaker 14: You know, And it's not about just being negative, it's
- 1:40:37Speaker 14: about being realistic. Don't be delusional, you know, we're not.
- 1:40:41Speaker 14: You know, our goal is to not stuck. But it's
- 1:40:44Speaker 14: like we have to call it how it is a
- 1:40:46Speaker 14: spade of spain, you know, and they just have to
- 1:40:49Speaker 14: execute and we'll be somewhere clear to the playoffs and
- 1:40:56Speaker 14: you know, but all that unrealistic stuff super Bowl, you know, playoffs,
- 1:41:01Speaker 14: we just got a see. Yeah, you know they have
- 1:41:04Speaker 14: to execute. So yeah, any givens Sunday. But let's let's
- 1:41:08Speaker 14: let's be real and I agree with everything y'all saying
- 1:41:11Speaker 14: to y'all rocket.
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: All right, thanks rays Ray, I appreciate it.
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: That's why I kept bringing up empirical evidence, like you
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: can hope and think and supposedly and all that stuff,
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: but right to expect to get back to where that's.
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: A week from tomorrow. It can stop being so much
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: just speaking about this Mike Fable Patriots and we have
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: no idea about was start to get some.
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: Actual but that can actually change too, Like once the
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: season gets underway and you have a team that you
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: know had modest expectations and all of a sudden, wow,
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: it's it's clicking. The offense that we've not seen, as
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: Mike said, in the entire time that he's been here,
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: all of a sudden, he's scoring you know, thirty points
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: a game. Well if that changes expectations, right, Like I
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: didn't envision them having this kind of a high powered offense.
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: I knew the defense would be better, but now the
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: defense is really good, and all of a sudden you
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: go from being happy to win ten games to well,
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: why are we going to stop at ten games? So
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: we can change? Expectations can change. But Fred's word about
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: empirical what have you seen already to lead you to
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: believe that that kind of a jump on offense is
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: going to happen? To me, there's only one thing that
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: can possibly make that happen, and that's a meteoric rise
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: by the quarterback. That's what happened in Houston two years ago,
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: That's what happened in Washington last year. No reason why
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: it can't happen in New England this year.
- 1:42:33Speaker 4: I feel like the opposite has been happening the lastew years.
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: We have to adjust my expectations the other way, and
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: I you know, like I don't know, they might be
- 1:42:39Speaker 4: around five hundred, and then you start to see it
- 1:42:42Speaker 4: in September and you know that it's not going to
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: go that way.
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: But that's the fun of it. And that's another part
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: of it. That and I've been trying hard not to
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: do this, but like the optimism around and everybody keeps
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: saying it right what they're going to do that they've
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: brought in Vaybel and they have this excitement and this
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: is a lot of the stuff that we were talking
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: about last year before we actually saw it, Before the
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: season actually got underway and they couldn't move the ball,
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: there was a lot of talk about optimism and a
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: lot of talk heading into the season. I could I
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: eight nine wins a lot. Yeah, I'm not going to
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: call out all the different media guys that did it,
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: but there were a lot of local media guys predicting
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: eight nine to ten wins last year until they actually
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: saw the team play, and then you're like, oh, I
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: don't think they're as good as I thought they were.
- 1:43:30Speaker 21: Right.
- 1:43:31Speaker 8: It's like, if you can't have that kind of optimism
- 1:43:33Speaker 8: when you get a new coach, then I think you're
- 1:43:35Speaker 8: really in.
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: A bad place. I think like some of it is
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: just a function of and yes, the past history of
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: the Patriots and their success, that's a very high bar
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: of what success looks still looks like around here.
- 1:43:45Speaker 8: But you know, generally speaking, the expectations are what they
- 1:43:49Speaker 8: are right now, What are they going to be in
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: a month from right now?
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: They might be a little bit different.
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: We'll see how the injuries play out and all that.
- 1:43:56Speaker 5: Some emails from last week, kind of following up on
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: some things that we were talking about Joe and the
- 1:44:01Speaker 5: darkness rights In. I was saying how I didn't think
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: that the uniforms as they currently are that bad. I
- 1:44:08Speaker 5: didn't like the blue on blue, but other than that
- 1:44:10Speaker 5: they're fine. But Joe says, Fred, You're dead wrong about
- 1:44:15Speaker 5: the uniforms Blueberries aside. The twenty twenty uniform redesign is awful,
- 1:44:19Speaker 5: unprofessional and unbecoming of this franchise, easily a bottom five
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: uniform in the NFL, change asap.
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: Do you feel that strongly about it?
- 1:44:30Speaker 8: I don't feel quite strongly that that strongly about it,
- 1:44:33Speaker 8: But I do feel very strongly about the uniforms that
- 1:44:36Speaker 8: they wont Super Bowls, and that's what I feel strongly about,
- 1:44:38Speaker 8: and I'd be open to a lot of different options.
- 1:44:41Speaker 8: I think that's great when teams can mix it up
- 1:44:43Speaker 8: in that. I just my bottom line is that I
- 1:44:45Speaker 8: think the Dynasty uniforms need to have a place in
- 1:44:47Speaker 8: the rotation.
- 1:44:48Speaker 5: Okay, Ali and Tennessee rights In, She said, I hired
- 1:44:52Speaker 5: a technician to fix my Whirlpool washing machine. And I
- 1:44:54Speaker 5: asked him, as a professional, what washing machine brand would
- 1:44:58Speaker 5: you recommend? And I laughed and he instantly answered Speed Queen.
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: You should really get a Speed Queen affiliate link. I'm
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: a new homeowner since the off season, Fred, what are
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: your other tips or hot takes as it relates to
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: the home?
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: I trust you.
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: Well, I should do it, Tian right now.
- 1:45:13Speaker 8: I saw a video on YouTube where they're going around
- 1:45:17Speaker 8: asking car mechanics what kind of cars you buy?
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: And every single one of us is Toyota.
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: It's like it's the first every mechanics, I have a Lexus.
- 1:45:23Speaker 5: It's the third one I've had, and it's not the
- 1:45:25Speaker 5: high end one. I have one hundred and seventy six
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: thousand miles on it. It runs like a piece shot
- 1:45:31Speaker 5: no I know, but like all I've never had a problem.
- 1:45:34Speaker 4: They are made so well.
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: There's really good value in Toyota, which is Lexus than company.
- 1:45:41Speaker 2: For everybody that I talk to in that business, it's
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: Toyota Honda for you know, every day you know, and
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: if you want a little higher end, it's a Lexus Lexus.
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: I've always wanted a Lexus SUV, but probably never going
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: to have that, but Toyota and Honda's last forever they do.
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: Yep, let's see uh.
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: Sean writes in from Bolton in the UK. I love
- 1:46:09Speaker 5: the offseason shows. They have a nice mixture of team
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: talk and over the stuff like soap and a rope
- 1:46:14Speaker 5: to bin collections. Looking at this season, I hear a
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: lot of people going on about eleven wins and making
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: the playoffs.
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: Please stop.
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: I see six to seven wins, but a big improvement
- 1:46:25Speaker 5: in how the team plays.
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: Don't forget.
- 1:46:27Speaker 5: This is still a rebuild, but with this management team,
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: we will get there. And congratulations to Evan and Beth
- 1:46:33Speaker 5: on their wedding. Plus, how do I get hold of
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: one of the p U T shirts over here in
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: the UK?
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: Married your wife?
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: And any update on the T shirts? This is gonna
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: be a daily.
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: Thing you have a meeting about. You have to meet about.
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: Because I have vacation.
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: So this is such a thing that you need to
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: have a meeting.
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: Well, yes about it?
- 1:46:59Speaker 3: Okay, in this meeting. Oh so the meeting isn't about
- 1:47:03Speaker 3: T shirts.
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: It's not a T shirt me Okay, all right, sorry
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: about that.
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: Okay, I haven't heard anything about this. Well, I haven't
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: seen my boss weeks. I was gone last week. He
- 1:47:24Speaker 2: was here, I was he was gone the week before.
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: Mario writes in I've been listening to the Soap with
- 1:47:29Speaker 5: a Slot Discussion for the better part of fifteen years,
- 1:47:32Speaker 5: and i can't sit idly anymore. My wife introduced me
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: to the below Amazon link for a Sissel soap bag
- 1:47:39Speaker 5: where you simply throw the bar soap in the bag,
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: lather and then the soap gets super tiny. You just
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: throw another one in there. That's one hundred percent soap
- 1:47:48Speaker 5: usage efficiency. I'm sad this settles a Soap with a
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: Slot discussion, but happy Fred can sleep easy at night right.
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: Now and now you have one. Yeah, thanks to Steve.
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: Steve for the Pats people saying an eight win season
- 1:48:01Speaker 5: will be a disappointment, eight paid chips as a kid,
- 1:48:05Speaker 5: eight will be a success if Drake looks good. Eleven
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: wins in a playoff, Berth and I'll buy soap bags
- 1:48:11Speaker 5: for the whole gang. You guys are the best, keep
- 1:48:13Speaker 5: up the great work. So the natural Sisal soap bag
- 1:48:17Speaker 5: is perfect. You can buy an Amazon No, that's a
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: good solution. It is I'm not going to like, but
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: some people don't like to have your soap through another membrane.
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: You want membrane, you want them, you want the soap.
- 1:48:33Speaker 4: You know you want to join the two soaps together, but.
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: You don't want to have to like.
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: Well, wouldn't like those bags? Like how soft are they?
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: They look?
- 1:48:41Speaker 20: Like?
- 1:48:42Speaker 4: Course? Yeah, a little bit.
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: Some minor news here. Smith, Trey Smith, the lone franchise
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: tagged player, has signed in the extension with Kansas.
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: City paid guard.
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: So they have the highest paid center and guard now
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: in football. But seemed to be a wise use of
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: resources by As I've said in the past and will
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: continue to say, the cap no longer matters.
- 1:49:04Speaker 8: What was Tuney the highest pig guard when they when
- 1:49:06Speaker 8: they paid him, was that deal obviously?
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: Yeah, he was up there, yep, and they traded him.
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: They traded that.
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: They traded him to Chicago.
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I didn't know if he became a
- 1:49:16Speaker 4: free agent need But yeah, let's see Longino is annoyed.
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: By that guy from LA. Man, that guy Christian from
- 1:49:28Speaker 5: LA is really something. And it's crazy to think that
- 1:49:31Speaker 5: there's many others with that mindset where now we're expecting
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: super Bowls and going back to a dynasty because of coaching.
- 1:49:36Speaker 5: In a few pieces, We've been horrible the last season
- 1:49:40Speaker 5: since Brady left, and now we're rebuilding at the moment
- 1:49:42Speaker 5: and have something to look forward to. Hopefully we can
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: get back to relevancy and start winning. I think he's trolling,
- 1:49:48Speaker 5: but still he's very triggering and needs to stop calling
- 1:49:52Speaker 5: he is.
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: He's good at it.
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: Felder would love this guy in his shop.
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: I give him credit because I think he's good at it.
- 1:49:57Speaker 8: Yeah, just imagine them, like a season where Patriots make
- 1:49:59Speaker 8: the play layoffs. You know, they get a playoff game,
- 1:50:01Speaker 8: they're on the road, tough, tough game, down at the end,
- 1:50:04Speaker 8: they lose in the last minute.
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: We come in for the postgame show and we're like, wow,
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: you know that sucked. That's a tough way to go out.
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: But what a season, you know, like, you know, just
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: that sucks. He's call it me like when they're an
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: idiot if you think that was good, Like in twenty
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: one when Mac Jones was the quarterback. Now you can
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: have varying degrees of sort of enthusiasm and excitement for
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: the future. But who was saying that the twenty twenty
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: one season with a rookie quarterback winning ten games was bad?
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: Who was saying it was bad? That's the call that
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: I got on the radio, is that would be bad,
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: not good instead of great, like Christians saying it would
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: be good but not a great season. The guy who
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: called in on the sports Hub said it would be bad.
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: Right, differently, don't do it.
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: So maybe you looked at it in all fairness here
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: the way I did in twenty one, and I didn't
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: think they could get to you to win games despite
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: the quarterback, right, So I wasn't overly like way, do
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: you see what happens next year?
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: Well, they got smoke too in the finale.
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: The right, and they got smoked by all the other
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: teams that they played that had a pulse that year
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: that didn't have twenty seven guys on the COVID list. Right,
- 1:51:17Speaker 2: you know, Baker Mayfield playing with a separated shoulder and
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: the Titans coming here with like Deannest Johnson instead of
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: Derrick Henry in the backfield. To know, there's a big
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: difference with what they faced. I didn't expect that to
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: happen the next year, and it didn't, and it didn't
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: happen again the following year. So you can be excited
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: about it, you know, with tempered enthusiasm, because I'm not
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: sure that that's sustainable. But to say that it's bad
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: that they won ten games, No, the twenty one season
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: was a good season. They went they went to the playoffs,
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: but probably wasn't a great year, but it was good,
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:51:49Speaker 8: To continue that postgame conversation, they probably continues along, all right, well,
- 1:51:53Speaker 8: now they've got a second place contract, you know, second
- 1:51:55Speaker 8: place schedule next year, and it's gonna get harder. Yes,
- 1:51:58Speaker 8: they made some strides this year, but they got to
- 1:51:59Speaker 8: go find the guy at edge or they got to
- 1:52:02Speaker 8: go find the guy at receiver either, like.
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: The But what I thought building you know, again, this
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: goes back to a whole bunch of team building things
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: and why teams that tend to knock it out of
- 1:52:13Speaker 2: the park and free agency in a year it's generally
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: a one year bump and it goes back down because
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: all these owners are very similar and Robert Craft said
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: it at the time that we're not going to be
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: able to do that every year. And he's not any
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: different than every other guy in that league. So you're
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: going to go out and spend two hundred and fifty
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: million dollars in guaranteed contracts one offseason. You're probably not
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: going to do that again the next year. That's why
- 1:52:38Speaker 2: it goes up and down, because they needed to fill
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: a lot of holes, just like they need to fill
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: a lot of holes this year. They've done a lot
- 1:52:47Speaker 2: of that. They're gonna need to do it again next
- 1:52:49Speaker 2: year if you want to continue to go on. The
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: rise goes back to.
- 1:52:53Speaker 8: A point I wanted to make earlier that I didn't.
- 1:52:54Speaker 8: It was just that there's a real need for some
- 1:52:56Speaker 8: young players. We talked a lot about the offensive line
- 1:52:59Speaker 8: Kadan Wallas, young players who haven't done anything yet that
- 1:53:02Speaker 8: still maybe have some promise to step up and build
- 1:53:05Speaker 8: some of the depth.
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: They can't rebuild the whole team.
- 1:53:07Speaker 8: They need some of those guys from the last couple
- 1:53:09Speaker 8: draft classes that haven't done much yet to step up
- 1:53:12Speaker 8: and provide some of that depth. Maybe some of those
- 1:53:14Speaker 8: guys are going to get thrust into bigger roles because
- 1:53:17Speaker 8: of injuries or whatever. But that to me is the
- 1:53:19Speaker 8: bit a big wild card for this camp. Dude, does
- 1:53:21Speaker 8: anybody rise up? I connected to what I said to you,
- 1:53:23Speaker 8: Fred about your offensive line thing. You know, it's a
- 1:53:26Speaker 8: good sign if you know a City Sow or a
- 1:53:28Speaker 8: Kayden Wallace or a Leyden Robinson or you know my
- 1:53:31Speaker 8: guy Jalen Poll if it was some of those guys
- 1:53:33Speaker 8: that disappointing didn't quite get over the hump last year
- 1:53:36Speaker 8: can come and start to contribute. Then you feel like,
- 1:53:38Speaker 8: well we have a little bit of a core, a
- 1:53:39Speaker 8: young corps that gives you some room to make mistakes
- 1:53:43Speaker 8: in the draft and not have to well, we got
- 1:53:45Speaker 8: to fill everything now, you know that's what's hard for
- 1:53:47Speaker 8: me right now.
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: Find some of those young guys to step up.
- 1:53:50Speaker 5: Mike and Florida writes in you mentioned it today or recently,
- 1:53:54Speaker 5: but I haven't heard anything lately. What's going on with
- 1:53:56Speaker 5: our new defensive coordinator? I heard he's very highly regarded,
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: but also.
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: So he's got some illness.
- 1:54:01Speaker 5: Can you tell us about him and some of the
- 1:54:03Speaker 5: other new defensive coaches and give a health update on
- 1:54:06Speaker 5: the new DC? Well, I do hear that he will
- 1:54:09Speaker 5: be back for training camp. He's not gonna be running sprints,
- 1:54:13Speaker 5: but he will be here.
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: Yeah, that's good news.
- 1:54:15Speaker 8: I mean, clearly has a big connection with Mike Frabele.
- 1:54:18Speaker 8: You've seen probably the clips now where he talks about
- 1:54:20Speaker 8: Mike Frable. Personal relationship, big reason why he's here as
- 1:54:24Speaker 8: much as an opportunity to being defensive coordinator. Had a
- 1:54:27Speaker 8: tough year, I mean, I don't want to say had
- 1:54:29Speaker 8: a challenging year in Detroit last year, had talent, a
- 1:54:31Speaker 8: lot of injuries.
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: But he's got a little bit of cross section experience
- 1:54:35Speaker 4: in some different systems as well, and he's a big
- 1:54:38Speaker 4: part of wal why I'm excited. I hear, I hear.
- 1:54:41Speaker 4: He's a good teacher.
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: He's a good coach.
- 1:54:44Speaker 5: Like I don't know how as a coordinator he is,
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: but like he's a good coach.
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: People who he's coached that you know he teaches well,
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: I learned a lot from him.
- 1:54:53Speaker 5: So that's you know, you got Christian Barmer still relatively young,
- 1:54:57Speaker 5: ke On White's still relatively young.
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: They have a lot to learn.
- 1:55:00Speaker 8: Yeah, it's one of the it's one of the handful
- 1:55:02Speaker 8: of unknown elements from the spring, something we didn't really
- 1:55:05Speaker 8: get to see at all. I mean, it's and it's
- 1:55:07Speaker 8: probably the biggest piece that we haven't seen yet is
- 1:55:09Speaker 8: the defensive court.
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: And I think it is good news if Fred is
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: right and Fred's intel is accurate, because I think that
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: that's been an underrated problem with some of the coaching
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: issues that they've had in the recent past. You know,
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: the year that Adrian klem was was you know, how
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: to leave the team for a while when Bill O'Brien's
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: running the intil it's not an ideal situation to lose
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: your coordinator or even if he's there, but you're doing
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: it on zoom calls and whatnot. You know, some guys
- 1:55:38Speaker 2: have a hard time learning that way. So the best
- 1:55:42Speaker 2: case scenario, obviously for Terrell Williams, first and foremost is
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: personal health, but the best situation for the entire defense
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: would be to have him here full time. As far
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: as what he is as a coach, I'm not gonna lie.
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: I never heard the name until we hired him as
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: the offense the defensive coordinator, I never heard of him,
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: so I don't know what he is as a coach.
- 1:56:01Speaker 4: Mark in Connecticut, what's up? Mark?
- 1:56:05Speaker 13: Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call. As always, I
- 1:56:07Speaker 13: appreciate it.
- 1:56:08Speaker 10: Well, Hi, I don't know if you guys have talked
- 1:56:10Speaker 10: about this, but Traveon Henderson I believe is still unsigned,
- 1:56:14Speaker 10: and I can't believe that Mike Brabel would want to
- 1:56:18Speaker 10: go into training camp, you know, with a distraction like
- 1:56:22Speaker 10: of that. I'm not sure what's going on with that,
- 1:56:24Speaker 10: but I know a lot of the second round picks
- 1:56:26Speaker 10: are not signed because of guaranteed money and everything. Yep,
- 1:56:29Speaker 10: but I just wanted to get your guys to take Yeah.
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: I mean thirty out of the thirty two are run signed. Yeah,
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: you definitely want to get that done. But I wouldn't.
- 1:56:36Speaker 3: I wouldn't get too concerned about it. You know, this
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: happens a lot.
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: You know, unless he's not here. Well, yeah, if he's
- 1:56:43Speaker 2: not here at the start of camp, I agree with Mark,
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: that's not ideal.
- 1:56:46Speaker 5: But your guy Remandre will step up. You said he's
- 1:56:48Speaker 5: going to have a better year.
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: No, I know, but you want, Mike say, I think
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: is important is to have some young guys emerge into rules. Sure,
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: and I don't necessarily I know that both running backs,
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: I don't see them playing in the same position. I've
- 1:57:01Speaker 2: said this a lot, a lot. I think he's more
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: of the pass catching type in the change of pace
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: running back reminder, Stevenson is the every dollar back. But
- 1:57:09Speaker 2: you need him.
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: Here, I agree, and he needs to be here for
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: his own development. But of all the things to be
- 1:57:14Speaker 5: worried about.
- 1:57:15Speaker 4: I'm not that worried about that. It's part of it.
- 1:57:18Speaker 4: I mean, it's becoming an interesting league issue. I mean
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: that I was.
- 1:57:22Speaker 8: I wasn't a couple of weeks ago, but you know,
- 1:57:24Speaker 8: now it's it's starting to develop into a thing. I
- 1:57:26Speaker 8: think it's less about specifically Trevian Henderson and the Patriots.
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: It's more about the second round pick for the Chargers
- 1:57:32Speaker 2: is now officially a holdout. He's one of the thirty
- 1:57:35Speaker 2: that second round picks that are unsigned today.
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: If he's not here Friday, he's a holdout, right.
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: Well, right for the Patriots. Yeah, yeah, I think that's
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: Friday is the rookie reporting day, right, Yeah. I mean
- 1:57:48Speaker 2: even if you want to say next Wednesday, you know,
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: the official start of camp, if he's not here. Yeah,
- 1:57:54Speaker 2: And I don't know how you could just say that
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: that's that's no problem, you know.
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: He the caller said, you know, I don't don't want
- 1:58:00Speaker 5: that to be a distraction. Do you think it'll be
- 1:58:02Speaker 5: a distraction if he's not here?
- 1:58:04Speaker 8: I know, I agree with I don't think of any
- 1:58:06Speaker 8: rookie at any position I want him here as much.
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: Absolutely bad. First and foremost for Trevon Henderson into a
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: much lesser extent the offense. But I don't think it'll
- 1:58:16Speaker 2: be a distraction.
- 1:58:17Speaker 8: And it's also enough again that you can point to
- 1:58:20Speaker 8: league wide this is an issue.
- 1:58:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Okay, Well they don't have that's not the
- 1:58:25Speaker 2: same thing.
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: I know, I know they don't have to be.
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: He's got to be under No, but he's got to
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: be under contract to be to well, he doesn't have
- 1:58:32Speaker 2: to be, but my guess is he will want to
- 1:58:35Speaker 2: be under contract. If you get hurt, then you're really screwed.
- 1:58:39Speaker 2: My guess is it'll get done. This is going to
- 1:58:41Speaker 2: be something with thirty guys involved. Like if it was
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: one or two guys that were holding out, I'd be worried.
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: But thirty guys, they're all waiting for the same thing.
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: My guess we'll figure out a work around.
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: In general, I think Fred will be right. Here's the fall,
- 1:58:55Speaker 2: all right, that's one of those.
- 1:58:56Speaker 4: It'll be fine, It'll be fine.
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: All right. That's it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:59:01Speaker 3: Is Evan going to do a cash twenty two this.
- 1:59:04Speaker 2: Week or no?
- 1:59:05Speaker 4: No.
- 1:59:05Speaker 2: I believe that the edict was you will not be
- 1:59:08Speaker 2: doing it.
- 1:59:09Speaker 4: I would put it past.
- 1:59:11Speaker 2: I know he would know, he'll try.
- 1:59:12Speaker 3: It's all right, but moving back on Thursday.
- 1:59:15Speaker 4: See you then, Hey, this is deuced. Thanks for tuning
- 1:59:20Speaker 4: into the show.
