Transcript
- Shaun: So if you had to say like your who's your I guess your Mount Rushmore of rappers? Barry: that's tough. But and Shaun: Right. Barry: I say this and I don't ever want to like, yo, it's just like with your goat for NBA, NFL. Yo, your goat is your goat, Shaun: Yeah. It's I I'd love to win too. Like a Barry: Mm. Shaun: friend of mine, I actually hung out with them this weekend too. we were playing Uno at work one time. Like we had like a team meeting and we were playing Uno. Uno gets heated real quick. Yes. Everybody has different rules. Barry: Mmm. Yo, Uno can get heated though. Especially depending on whose rules you're playing, because everybody has their own rules for Uno, bro. Shaun: I don't hate it, but Notre Dame pisses me off. I Barry: I just y'all you know the Dame fans aren't gonna like what me and Shaun have to say because they don't deserve that Shaun: Yes. It pisses me off so much with welcome back everyone to episode number thirteen of Bald Enough to Say It. Lucky Barry: Lucky thirteen, y'all. Shaun: number thirteen. Like people always say that thirteen is unlucky. I don't believe that. Like. Barry: I don't I don't know. Numbers have never been like lucky or bad luck for me. Shaun: Yeah. No. I'm not superstitious, but I am a little stichious. If you know where that's from, drop it in the chat. Barry: Yeah, I could get yeah. I am, I would agree with that. Shaun: Yeah. I mean, there hasn't really been anything to prove superstitions to me. Like there there's nothing that consistently happens where I'm like, Okay, yeah, I can see. Yeah. Barry: Yeah. Like you do this and this is the result. Yeah. Shaun: I don't know. Barry: Same for numbers for me, like, yeah. Shaun: My number's a number. Barry: A number is a number. Shaun: Yeah. well. well, thank you so much for coming back to join. Or thank Barry: Welcome. Shaun: you for coming and joining back with us. yeah, if you have been here before, Barry: Which ever. Welcome back. Shaun: you welcome back. That's probably the easiest way to say it. Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: if you have not been here before, welcome. We are glad that Barry: Well cut. Shaun: you have decided to come and kick it with us and to hang out for a little bit. Barry: Appreciate you no matter what. Shaun: yes. if you haven't, check out our website www.baldenoughtosayit.com. You've got all of our streaming platforms there. You've got all of our social media accounts there. we are on your major streaming platforms. We are connected in the social media world, and you can also grab some merch. So if you want a shirt, if you want like a wall sign that we have back there, mugs, cups. bags, whatever it is that you're filling, make sure that you get you one. And Barry's got his right there. I don't know what's in that cup. I'm kind of interested what's Barry: Got my happy juice. Shaun: in it. Your happy juice. Yeah, let's call it that. But you can go and get whatever kind of bold enough to say at merch it is that you would like to have. there are a couple of different designs there, so you can kind of mix and match and do some different things too. Barry: Can do what you want, bro. We talked about a fanny pack, socks, pillows. It's a variety, bro. Shaun: Yes. Which I still don't know about the fanny pack dog. Like who uses fanny packs really? Barry: I can't bro, I've seen a lot of dudes rocking fanny packs lately, bro. And I don't I don't care. Like, but and it just Yeah. Shaun: Right. No, do you. Like I don't care about it. Barry: But no, I don't I could not get down. Like carrying extra stuff to me is it's it's silly. But like I say, we luck we're Shaun: It's like over. Barry: the guys are lucky we got big pockets and most shorts and Shaun: True. Barry: all we need is a wallet of keys and a phone, bro. Shaun: And that's my three point check. Like in chapstick. Yes. That is my three point check. Barry: Chapstick too. I gotta get the chapstick. I hate having dry lips. That's it, bro. Shaun: Phone keys, wallet. And what I do, like my phone is always in my left pocket. My keys, wallet, my chapstick, they're in my right pocket. So if I can just tap, roll see, I can't have my wallet in my back pocket. Nah. Barry: Yo, me too. See, I keep my wallet in the back pocket. No. But I like the thin ones, bro. I like the real thin. I only carry like five cards and a like a little money clip. But they do Shaun: Yeah. Barry: hurt. Like riding long distance in a car, I have to put it Shaun: Yeah. Barry: in like a little sideband or something. Cause sitting on that metal for a long time does not feel good. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I feel that. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Same. And yeah, I have a metal wallet too. And that's why I'm like, I just can't do it anymore. So Barry: Nah, that makes sense. Shaun: Yeah, I just put it in my side pocket and just Barry: Yeah. Shaun: rock it like that. Barry: It's easy, bro. But yeah, I mean, luckily like I say, bro, I will always say I am so happy to be a man. And I don't mean that in a demeaning or like a no, and I white privilege. I Shaun: A white man. You're happy to be a white man in America. Barry: mean. But no, I mean that in I could not deal Shaun: I know what you mean. I know. Barry: with all the things that women have to deal with and carry and worry about and Shaun: Heck no. Barry: like I appreciate it. So shout out to the ladies, y'all. Y'all do a lot. Shaun: Not at all. Yes, Barry: So I'd like to say Shaun: we love you, ladies. Barry: I don't mean it in a negative light at all. I just appreciate it because I don't think I could handle it. Shaun: Yeah. Speaking of the ladies, yeah. You all might notice that Jen is not with us. She will be back with us next week. Barry: Hmm. Yeah. Shaun: she's got some stuff going on, so she wasn't able to come this week, but she'll be back here with us. But yeah, shh. Yes. Yes. Love you. We miss you. We will see you back here soon. ASAP. Barry: Yes, as soon as possible. Shout out to Jen. We missed you, girl. Mm-hmm. See you ASAP Rocky. Shaun: You know people don't know who ASAP Rocky is somehow. Barry: I mean, I don't I couldn't pick him out of a lineup, but I Shaun: What? Barry: yo, I told we were just talking about music. I don't like I that's just wasn't my genre. I don't, bro. Shaun: Yeah. You don't listen to newer stuff, that's true. Barry: Like it's if it ain't pre mid two thousands, probably don't know it too much. Shaun: A Barry: J. Cole's probably the only one of the only dudes that I keep up with currently. He's he's up there, bro. He's up there. Shaun: I mean 'cause C Cole's the goat. I mean, what are you gonna do? So who Okay, if you had to have like a hierarchy of of let's just let's just keep it with rappers because if we go music overall, it's gonna get real messy real fast. Yeah. Barry: Okay. Yeah, it's hard. It can get really yeah, for sure, for sure. Shaun: So if you had to say like your who's your I guess your Mount Rushmore of rappers? Barry: that's tough. But and Shaun: Right. Barry: I say this and I don't ever want to like, yo, it's just like with your goat for NBA, NFL. Yo, your goat is your goat, and I doesn't Shaun: Yeah. It's your go. Barry: mean to me that they're wrong. It's just we Shaun: Yeah. Barry: have a difference of opinion. So let me leave with that. And I when I say like Mount Rushmore, Shaun: But Barry: that doesn't mean that I think they're the best. Like I'm not challenging it in that way. Like if you just ask me my opinion, like Jay-Z is my all-time favorite. Like, I don't know. I just grew Shaun: Okay. Barry: up listening to him. I always appreciate Hova. So he's definitely on there. J Cole, probably, because like I said, I do enjoy J. Cole a lot. So I still gotta go back and listen to his new album again. We talked about that like on episode like seven or something like that. I need to still go back. I bro. I you ain't lying. Just saying it out loud, Shaun: That so disappointed. So disappointed. Barry: but So I get what two more? Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Bro, I'm a big like Busta Rhymes fan. Okay, so and let me ask this before I lock in those two, if I said Outkast would that be one or would that be two? So I would like I it would be hard between Busta Shaun: I this is your list? Yeah, that's fine. That would be one. Yeah. I would say as a group they're one. Barry: and DMX vers like those would be hard for me to choose between like DMX was my stuff growing up, bro. Like It's Dark Hell is Hot, bruh. That album I could listen to non skip five times in a row. Like, Shaun: Yeah. That's fair. Barry: so And then I don't even remember what he had what was the the one with the was it blood, something blood? I can't remember. I just know he was covered in blood and the second one it was an all red. Shaun: Yeah. I I know what you're talking about. I can see it but I don't know what it's called. Yeah. Barry: But bruh, DMX, man. I don't know. I might have to put DMX on there instead of Busta. I I I like Busta, but DMX Shaun: Okay. Barry: was he was the guy. And then I would say Outkast. Like, I loved Outkast Shaun: So you're someone you're Okay, so okay. Barry: growing up, bro. Like, that's kinda yeah. That would probably be Shaun: That's fair. Barry: mine. Shaun: So Jay-Z, J Cole, DMX, and Outkast. Barry: DMX, yeah, I'd have to go DMX over Busta. And nothing like I love Busta, like Shaun: Okay. Yeah. Man. Barry: But I love Outkast too. Like Stankonia, Aquimeni It's Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: good stuff, like early stuff. A T Shaun: AT- aliens, yeah. Barry: aliens, yeah. Shaun: I don't know. They've they've got some good stuff, like Barry: Even like the when they kind of start doing like their separate together projects Shaun: Yeah. Barry: like Love Love Box and Love Below or Speaker Box and Love Below, like that was a banger. Yeah, but Shaun: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. A double album. Barry: banger. It's good stuff. People be sleeping on Outkast, bro. Shaun: straight slapping. Yeah. they do for real. I mean, I feel like they they get a lot of love in Atlanta for sure. I would say in then like Barry: Rightfully so. Shaun: other parts like we're here in Texas. I'd say in other parts of Texas we give some love. probably not. Yeah. Yeah. And Barry: But yo, I feel like Texas rap would not be around without them. Like they really put Southern rap on like on a main stage. Like they were that big. Or at least I feel that way. Shaun: I'll admit that I'm biased. I mean, I am absolutely biased to Texas rap and Barry: Yeah. no, I love Texas Bad Bro. I was me and my homie were Shaun: Yeah. I mean Barry: talking about that today on the golf course. Like, yo, I could Shaun: Mm. Barry: bang the chop and screw stuff all day long. Like I was I've been Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: I've been going through that the last couple of weeks, like downloading all the mold songs I didn't even have like saved to my Spotify. So little Shaun: Yes. Barry: Paul Wall, Camillionaire. Shaun: Big Mo. Like e Barry: Bum B Big Mo, Lil' Keke all of Shaun: I mean, even Louisiana too. Like you start to get into Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Louisiana with Master P and Boozy and like all them, dog. I mean, it just yes. No Limit Soldier. Barry: Yo, I love Master P and Yes. Cash Money, all of bro. No limit, yes. Mm-hmm. That was a banger, bro. Juvi Yo, all of Shaun: Percy. Percy. Yeah, Juvie. I mean, Juvie and Mystical, they've had some some issues, some some legal issues. But Barry: Mm. Little bad choices, bro. We all make bad choices. Shaun: that's true. Yeah. Everyone, everyone messes up sometimes. You can't fault somebody. Barry: Yeah. What about you, man? Mount Rushmore. Shaun: Dog, you were you were naming them. I like, I can't believe I asked them this question, and I don't have an answer for it. I would say my Cole is definitely up there for sure. Like Cole Barry: I I knew he would be there. Shaun: has to be there. I would also say that Wayne has to be there. Barry: I fell off on Wayne. Like I know he really blew up like late two thousands, early two Shaun: Yeah. Barry: thousand tens, like and I wasn't in like I kinda lost touch with hip hop at that point in my life. Shaun: And that's what it was. Like those were like my my golden days of rap. My yeah. Yeah. Like coming up in like Barry: Mm. Yeah, that's our age difference right there. Mm-hmm. Shaun: late middle school, high school, and then like right there at the graduation of high school. Like that was like Wayne owned that time period. So yeah, Barry: Yeah, he did, bro. He did. Shaun: I would say that he probably has to be up there. Another one that's Barry: Fill that. Shaun: it's controversial, I would say. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: But and I would say that has to be up there for me too. Barry: Yeah, I could see that. Yeah, again, I could completely see that being on s anybody's mind. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Like Dude was very big in growth of hip hop, like late nineties, early two thousands. bro, his lyricism is very, very top notch for sure. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. And his lyrical ability is unmatched. Yeah. And that's what I that's what I like. Music in general, but especially like when you start to talk about rap, I need content. Like it has to actually mean something. Yes. Barry: no, I need the words. I yes, yes. I love I need content. I need to hear some. I need the thought provoking. Yeah. Shaun: Like I'm not I'm not here just for the beats, which bait beats are cool sometimes. I mean, we can do that. Yeah. But Barry: No, well yeah. No, they can definitely make a song way better. But lyrics, if you have good lyricism, bro, it's you can take any normal beat and just make it hard. Shaun: Mm-hmm. So that's three. Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Four. Four is where it gets tough. Because I'm like, I don't know. Like, do I wanna go UGK? Do I wanna go Jay Z? Do I wanna go more of like a well, that's what I was gonna say. Do I wanna Barry: What about Kendrick? Are you a Kendrick fan? Shaun: go more like Kendrick or do I wanna go more like I this might Piss some people off, but Drake will absolutely never be on my Marmount Rushmore. It doesn't matter how much he sells or what he does, but he would never be up there for me. Yes. Barry: Not me either, bro. Not me ever. I just I I do like a handful of Drake's songs. I'm so I won't say that I don't think he's a decent artist, but he's just not my cup of tea, bro. Yeah. Not mine. Shaun: No, yeah, he's a he's a great artist, but he could never make it there for me. Barry: I would agree. Shaun: But then also another one that gets kind of controversial, like would I go like a Kanye route? Because he has some albums that were just back to back to back. Yes. Barry: Yo, if his early out, he was a genius, bro. When his first like four albums were like definitely up there in my like favorite discography, like I could easily put those, yes, top ten. Shaun: Instant classics. Yeah. Barry: Easily. But he just went off the rails, man. Like so hard. Shaun: He did. He took such a deep dive off the rails, too. It's that Kardashian, that Kardashian blood. I don't know. It happens every single time. Yes. Yes. Stay away. I Barry: Yo, the curse, bro. Stay away from fellas. Especially you young black men, bro. Don't do it to yourselves. It's the curse. Mm-hmm. Shaun: I feel that I would have like out of all of those, I feel that I probably listen to Jay-Z the most. So he might have to go up there, but I don't that's where it gets really tough for me. Yeah. Barry: It's it is, bro. It is that 'cause then you just you know you're gonna cut somebody out that you could easily Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: justify being on it. Shaun: Yeah, I would say Cole, Wayne, and are cemented in my in my top, Barry: For sure, locks. Shaun: but that that four, like that's where it gets really difficult right there. I don't know. Barry: For sure. Shaun: If I if I had to choose, I'd probably say Jay-Z. Just to like, this is my mount rush more. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: But yeah, it it gets real tricky. Barry: Yeah, I w I wish I and I need to probably go watch more where he did like that series in the the Yankee Stadium and he did a couple handful of shows. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I heard those were fire, bro. And he's getting old, bro. I always forget how old Hova is, bro. He's like in his mid fifties. Yes. Still Shaun: Yeah. He is. He's in his he's yeah, he's in his fifties. Barry: looking fresh, looking young. Shaun: Well and that's the thing is like because you can very easily like once you hit that billionaire status, you can very easily start to I guess lose touch with, yeah, your your main like listener base and the people that like really got you to where you are. Barry: Lose touch. Mm-hmm. Like the the the the young culture. Yeah. Kids keep people that are old young, bro. Like me when Shaun: Yeah, Barry: I was a teacher, I always knew what was going on with the young culture because I heard it. I don't have any clue what's going on with the youngsters nowadays, bro. My kids Shaun: Yeah. Barry: are my only only lens into that life. That's it. Shaun: That's your only connection. Maybe that's why I'm so out of touch, because I'm old and I don't have anybody to keep me young. Yeah. Yeah. And he still talks about real stuff. Like he still talks about yeah. Barry: Nah, bro, it's for real. But no, it is crazy that he does still stay relevant for s like it's been 30 years now, man. He's still super relevant. He that's why I always love Jay-Z, man, because he does talk about real stuff. So nah, I'm down. That's a good one. Again, well, everybody's got it. Let us know. What is it? And Drake can be on it. We won't judge you. Shaun: Yeah. Everybody does. So I mean, for you all that are out there listening, like if you've got your Mount Rushmore, let us know. Let us know who your Mount Rushmore is. Yes, we're not gonna judge you if you have Drake on it. Barry: If you had if you all Drake fans for sure. Shaun: If you wanna go with the big three, if you wanna go Drake and Drake and Cole. Yeah. Barry: Again and like Kendrick was just after when I was really into like I've I've downloaded a couple of his albums, but I don't have Shaun: Yeah. Barry: all and I don't Shaun: And that's the thing with Kendrick. I mean, he he's another one. Like he talks about a lot of real stuff. Yeah. Absolutely. Just wasn't during that time period for me. Barry: He does, very relevant. He does. And he's a great lyricist. So I'll give him like and that's the thing. It's just not it wasn't it wasn't a big and I feel like music for me is like when I went through stuff in my life, like Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that's what I connected music to. So those are the people that I connected to a lot of big events in my life. So it's for me, that's kind of why those people are on there. So Shaun: Yeah. Barry: for other people, this is gonna be different. You know what I mean? So that for whomever, bro, let us know. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: We love to hear it. It's again, Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: it's your amount rushmore, no judgment. Just a talking point to, you know, connect us and see what we do have in common. So throw it in the chat, Shaun: Yeah. Exactly. This is Barry: man. Shaun: this is not the Jordan and Bron goat debate where there's objective truths. This is completely subjective. This is this is this is completely subjective. It is your Mount Rushmore of your top rap artist. Barry: Mm mm. my gosh. I can't wait till we have that one 'cause I'm just gonna pick at you so hard, bro. my gosh. Yes, for sure. Shaun: And we can we can do other we'll do other Mount Rushmores too. We can do some other ones too, but Barry: Really well. Yeah. Shaun: I know we'll probably never do country because you don't listen to country, which is Barry: You know. Shaun: crazy to me. You have to have some sort of an appreciation for some country. Okay. Barry: I like Johnny Cash. I do. That's about the only country guy I know. And he was A little ho a little rock and roll countryish. Shaun: By saying in Johnny Cash was you're gonna get some people up in arms. Okay. Barry: No, I don't mean that and like I love Johnny Cash, but I'm just saying I don't know would you call him country? Shaun: I would say yeah. I would say he was country. But yeah, he was he did kind of like tip to the line between like more rock and roll country. Barry: So there you go. It was more like a yeah, he was more like rock and roll. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: So Hm. We can have the conversation. Shaun: But again, teach their own socket. Barry: Y'all can educate me, but yeah, I'd probably pick four people that I've actually listened to in country ain't happen Shaun: Well, we know if we did country, we know who Jen's Mount Rushmore is going to definitely have. T Swizzle is definitely Barry: I would assume. Mm-hmm. Shaun: gonna be there. Even though I'm gonna say this, since Jen's not here, I feel like I can say it and not get any backlash. But Barry: Who is saying it? Not right now, you won't. Shaun: I will say it. yeah, not right now. Yeah, I won't right now. But yeah. Taylor Swift was never a country artist. No. Absolutely not. No. She was an interesting Barry: You won't get any backlash but you might get get it later. You don't think so, Naughty, when she first started? I mean I again I have no skin in the game, so I really don't know. Shaun: plant. Like she they just had to get her in some kind of way. I think that that was the easiest way to get her Barry: Somehow, some way. Shaun: in was to have her come in with like the s the like yeah, the little pop country. Barry: Little pop country. But a lot of country nowadays I feel would fall under pop country, bro. It's not Shaun: Yeah. I mean look at Big X the plug. He did his little country little swing there for a little bit too. Barry: Mm. Mm. Yo. I mean Bey Bey did her she won that she got mm hmm. I don't know. Again Shaun: Yeah. Cowboy Carter? Yeah. Big X the Plug. He actually just got arrested. I think this weekend actually. Barry: Dang. Shaun: He got arrested out on bond and made a song all in like 24 hours. Crazy. That is artistry right there. Barry: Yo. Wowin. Wild it out, bro. Rock star status. Shaun: man. I don't know what I don't know what it was about. I'd have to look it up and like do some research on it, but you don't know who Big Barry: No clue. I don't even know who you're talking about, Paul. So Shaun: X the Plug is? Barry: why would I know that? Shaun: I see I've really been popping my on a whole nother level. You never my god. Okay. Well, I'm gonna have to put you on a big X plug. No, he's he's a rap artist, yeah. Barry: Mm no, bro. Nah. Is he country or is he hip hop? Or is he okay. Shaun: but his voice is incredibly unique. Barry: Hm. Okay. Shaun: So like whenever you hear it, you'll probably be like, Okay, I've heard that voice before. Yeah. Barry: Maybe I work okay, like okay. I gotcha. Shaun: But he is one of the new wave artists that have recently come through that you don't you don't jive with. You jive turkey. Barry: No. Shaun: Well anyway, I mean we kind of jumped right into it. How's your weekend, Bubba? Or your week. How's your week been since the last time we talked? Barry: man, the week is it's just been getting ready for school, man. Went and did shoe shopping. Got hit up we hit up rack room. Got a BOGO, Shaun: Ooh, my favorite. Okay. Barry: buy one, get one half off, so Shaun: Nice. So they each got six pair of shoes or Barry: They each got one. Shaun: Cheap as Barry: Yo, bro, it's hard out here, fool. These these things, this this economy is tough, man. Just trying to make it. So Shaun: That's fair, it is. Yeah. Barry: they got yo, so it's been like we're hitting like a thirty four year cycle, bro. Or maybe thirty year, 'cause skater stuff is back in. The big baggy jeans, like the JNCOs from back in the day. Shaun: Vans are coming back? Barry: Vans are back, like the thick tongue. So my girls both got these like thick tongue Adidas that look like Shaun: Really? Barry: skater shoes and they were like, Yeah, these are it and I was like, Okay. So I used to rock the airwalks back in the day. Like, yeah, them them styles are back, man. So Shaun: Man, do you still have any of that vintage stuff? No. I feel like Becca does. Like does Becca still have anything? Barry: No, bro. I was Shh na no, I don't think so either, man. Like that's a long deal. I was like Shaun: Really? Man. That is a long time. Barry: 12, 13, 14 when that was Shaun: Yeah. Barry: happening. So nah, that stuff could have fit me, bro. I was like a rail back then. Nah, bro. Over 200 now. I ain't no rail. I was like 150 back then, bro. Mm-hmm. Shaun: You still are. You're a little you're a little beanstalk, man. Barry: Yeah, I've been as tall since I was that age, bro. Like I had a seven inch growth spurt in between sixth and seventh grade and then everybody just grew up around me. I was like a post Shaun: His number one thing. Barry: player of basketball in middle school and now I'm like a guard. Shaun: Same. Yeah. I hit my growth spurt really early. So Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: like I was like the biggest kid. I've always been like the physically biggest kid, but like I was like one of the tallest kids too. Barry: Yeah. Taller. Mm-hmm. Shaun: So yeah, always the post. But I was always a shooter. Like I was like I don't I don't want to be in the post. Like I know that I'm big, I'm strong, but yeah, I want to be a shooter. Barry: No, I didn't become a shooter till later. I used to be straight up post, bro. Shaun: Yeah. Man. Barry: Which I wish I would have gotten some guard work 'cause I had to develop my handles over twenty years now. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Just to be able to dribble the ball. I used to be so goofy back in the day. That's six inch Shaun: What? Barry: seven inch growth spur, bro. Like I was so clumsy back then. It was horrible. Tall and lenky and clumsy, bro, like a deer. So Shaun: Tall and lanky. man. We should have gotten you into one of those open runs, man. We could have we could have gone to like Dallas or something like that. Barry: Nah, I'm too old for that, bro. Ice my back, ice my knees, all of it after I play, bro. I don't open runs. I'm gonna try and no, bro. I ain't making nobody's G League. I ain't making nobody's G League fool. Cause I know how good these dudes are out here, and I am not that. I can handle my own. Don't get me Shaun: Well that's fine, dog. If you're in the G League, they've got all of the medical staff and everything. What if you would have made it to the G League, bro? What if you did? Barry: wrong. I can still hoop, but it definitely I'm six Shaun: We're doing it next year. Barry: foot, bro, six one and some Basketball shoes, maybe. No, we ain't. I'm not. Shaun: We're doing it next year. Yeah. We're getting you in there. Barry: Nah. I I Shaun: Mm. Barry: play my once a week when I can with some coaches at the school I used to coach at. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Those are fun 'cause they're cool. Ain't nobody taking it too seriously. It's good runs, man. Get like twelve, Shaun: Cooking. Barry: thirteen people, so you only gotta sit one game if you lose. It's nice, it's good stuff. That's that's what Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I want. I ain't trying to be out here competing, bro. I would die. Shaun: I mean Barry: I would die. Shaun: Just because you're in the G League doesn't mean that you have to be competing to get a contract. Like we know that you wouldn't end up getting a contract, but well Barry: No. no no no no. But I'm like I wanna play, I'm not gonna just go ride events in the G League of that no. Shaun: you would play, you'd get some playing time. Barry: I wouldn't. I know I wouldn't. They would just do it out of charity. I'm a nah, we ain't false. Shaun: Well we're gonna find out. We're gonna find out next year. Make sure that y'all stick around because we're gonna find out. We're gonna get Barry into one of those open runs Barry: False. Shaun: and see what it looks like. I think it'd be cool. Barry: But yeah, no. It would be cool to do it, but I would have zero expectation. I'd be I mean Shaun: yeah. Barry: I watched some of the videos of the dudes. I was like, I could I could go try out if this is who showed up. Like I could do that, but I don't Shaun: Yeah. Barry: think I'm getting on. I ain't making a cut. So but yeah. So shoe shopping. Shaun: See you trying. Barry: I did play some golf today, played some decent golf. It was a good time. It was the hottest day of the year in Central Texas. Shaun: It Barry: Teed off at 1110, Shaun: doesn't. Barry: out here dying, bro. But it was a good time. I'm sure it is. It is not that cool, bro. So, yeah. Finally broke it down. Yo. But Shaun: I'm pretty sure it's still in triple digits right now. And it's nighttime. it's ninety-nine or mine it's ninety-nine in my house right now, it looks like. Yeah. Barry: nah, it was a good time. Shout out to Starcke out in Seguin, It's a good little course, man. It's the best in the area right now for the price, man. And their beer prices are affordable. It's like $3 a beer. So you can get a good six-pack for I think they give you it for fifteen and they give you the six one free. Shaun: Okay. Barry: So while you had a golf course, a six pack for fifteen dollars and a fifty-five dollar round is hard to beat in today's world of golf, bro. So Shaun: Yeah. That's dope. Barry: and there was my homie, shout out to Mr. Jmart, his brother, and then his brother's roommate. So we had a good time. Shaun: That's dope, man. Too hot for all that. Barry: So speaking of that, yeah it was hot bro. Yo. I walked in, my face was just covered in salt because I was so sweaty, bro. I was ashy as a white person. You know how hard that is, bro. I've only seen it a handful of Shaun: This is all that Barry: times in my life. Shaun: God. Ashy as a white person is crazy. Barry: But it really wasn't ashy, it was literally just sweat that it dried as salt. That's Shaun: god. Barry: what Becca was like, Yo, you look real salty. I was like, I I am grimy right now. Yo, for real. but yeah, for real now. We be luckily we got white furniture, so I don't feel bad sitting on it if I'm salty. But no. But speaking of golf, our golf Shaun: She's like, if you don't go get in the shower right now, you better not sit down or touch anything. Get in the shower. Okay. True. Yeah. man. Barry: league we did finish first. Shaun: what's Barry: So we had the first round by this week. I don't know if I'm playing Wednesday or not yet. I'm waiting to hear. So I might I might not. I might show up just to see. Shaun: They don't know if they need you or not yet. Barry: I mean, like I say, I was the second best player, so Shaun: man. Barry: but I really don't care, man. It was it's just fun. So we'll see. Shaun: You like Keanu Reeves on the replacements. They they might call you in, you can come in and save the day. man. That's dope though. Barry: Hey, just let me know, bro. I'll show up. But so yeah, we'll see how that turns out. So like if we win this week, then I think the like finals is next weekend. I Shaun: Yeah. Barry: don't know. Shaun: And you still don't know what the prize is for winning. God dude. I mean that that's there's no pressure if you don't know what it is to Yeah. Yeah. Barry: No, I'm no clue. Like I say, I just show up and play, bro. I just like play golf, man. It's like one of my favorite things to do. No. That's the thing. It's like what am I gonna lose? I mean, nah. I'm sure if we make the finals, it'll be a little more pressure. Cause we you know, we out here playing and it'll be good people, I would imagine. So But I mean I shot like eighty four today. Like eleven, ten. No, eleven over. Might have been eighty three. Shaun: Whatever. Hmm. Barry: So I had a good birdie, had a couple of shots at other birdies, didn't make But I was playing decent. I just re gripped my club, so I did it myself. Shaun: Nice. Barry: I love gripping nice fresh grips, bro. It's amazing. It's changes Shaun: Know nothing about that life. My little brother was talking about golfing today. He's he usually tries to go out and golf, but he hasn't gotten a go in a while. I was like, dude, it's it's too hot for that. Like, I Barry: the thing bro you gotta play. It is. It was hot. It was hot. Shaun: ain't trying to be out there. I ain't trying to do disc golf at this point. Like, nah. No. That's what I'm saying. It's too hot. I like I've wanted to play, but Barry: Mm. Yo, you play disc golf? I was like, let's go. I love disc golf. It's a good time, bro. Shaun: Not not right now. I feel like that's like a October November type of activity. Or yeah, like March. Barry: No. I could see that. Yeah. Or you get out early, bro. Just get out early in the morning. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. You know, I ain't getting up at eight o'clock in the morning all weekend. That ain't happening. Although I feel Barry: Well now you a late riser, so yeah. But now Shaun: like I have been Barry: have well, I mean things have changed, so again, bro, it's just a lifestyle Shaun: Yes, very much. Barry: change. Once you get used to it, it ain't hard. Shaun: Yeah, that's true. Barry: But now bro, let me know. I go always go Shaun: Yeah, we'll do it. Barry: play some disco. Shaun: I can go get some discs and we can see what happens. Play cornhole. Do that. That's Barry: Yeah. It's a good time. I'm down for that. Shaun: fine. Barry: I love that. Washers, whatever. I'm Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: out here to win, bro. You know me. I get too competitive. I will Shaun: I know, right. Even if it's not a competition, it's a competition. Barry: always compete, bro. Love it. I hate losing. I'm not a sore loser, don't hear it wrong. I just hate to lose. I still have sportsmanship though. Shaun: Yeah. There's I actually have a I I I'd love to win too. Shaun: Yes. And Uno has come out now recently, and they've said that you cannot play a draw two on top of another draw two. So if you all are out there putting draw twos on top of a draw two and saying Barry: Why not? Why not? Shaun: draw four, you can't do it. Because Uno said that you can't. It's not a part of the rules. See, see, there you go. No. They say you can't play a draw two on top of another draw two. Four draw four. Barry: I don't care. That's the ruthlessness of the game, bro. Play it right. Don't get played, bro. So I can hit you with the infinity reverses if I have five of but I can't make you draw four if I have two draw twos. Shaun: Well if you have if you have a ton of reverses, it's just gonna be going back and forth between you and another per like if that other person does, then you can, but Barry: But I'm saying if it's just me and you playing, I can continue hit you with the reverse and it keeps coming back to me. So this is the same Shaun: Well yeah, if it's just the two of us, yeah. Barry: thing for a draw two. Why not? Your play, if I throw a draw two down, is what? Your play is drawing them two cards. So guess what? I have the matching draw two. I'm gonna play it again. That makes no sense. If I could do a reverse and I can't. Why? No. Well, sorry, Uno. I guess Shaun: You can't do it. I don't know what to tell you, but Uno said that you can't do it. They made the game. Barry: I'm playing by my own rules because I ain't playing that way. If it's one on one, bro. Shaun: And that's the problem because everybody plays with their own rules. Yeah. And I feel like we're getting heated right now. Just talking about it. man. Yeah. Barry: That's what I'm saying. It gets heated, bro. Now yo, again, I'm telling you, I get too competitive just talking about it. But nah, who know it gets heated, bro. Shaun: But yeah, we were actually we were playing at work. We had like a team meeting and we were playing at work and stuff like that. It's like a team builder. And I got kind of meat. I got kind of heated because I wasn't winning. Barry: that's not gonna build team team com camaraderie, bro. That's gonna tear it down. Shaun: Yeah. so yeah, I got heated and I was like I'm a winner and I'm not winning right now. And I was like hitting the table and stuff. Yeah. Don't. Uno was definitely one of those. Barry: the worst. Yeah. Same thing. Yo, I get so into spades, bro. Shaun: See, and I never, which is it sounds crazy, but like as as me, like I've never learned to play spades. Barry: Really? Shaun: Yeah, I've tried and I'm just like, nah. Nope. Don't play hearts. Barry: Do you know how play hearts? Okay. It's like the same thing just with spades, literally. Shaun: Nope, don't want play it. I can play some blackjack though. I can tell you I'll go to the casino, play some blackjack. But like spades and stuff, I I just can't. Barry: Hmm. Hmm. Yeah, see I'm not a casino person. Yeah, I love spades. I love spades. Shaun: Yeah. But that's another one. Spades and bones. I mean, both of those always get heated too. Yeah. Barry: I don't play dominoes enough to be good at it, but I yo, I played spades a lot growing up and so I'm Shaun: Yeah. Barry: pretty solid at some spades. Like I always love Shaun: Yeah. Barry: to get in a game. Shaun: There was basically always a table at like family reunions and stuff like that growing up, but yeah, I was like, nah, I ain't Barry: Hmm. Sign me up, bro. Let's go. Shaun: doing that. Not the life for me. Barry: Love to see they face when you cut with that ace, bro. Shaun: And see, I think that's the biggest part of it is like the books. Like when you're saying like how many books you have and stuff, like it's all just kind of guesswork based off of the hand that you have. Well, yeah, based off of the hand that you have, but you don't know what other people have too. Yeah. Barry: No, there's it's like statistical, bro. Like if you think about mm-hmm. You don't. And that's what makes it fun, bro. And you don't you can't you can't talk to your partner. Cause so you play across from your partner, right? But you can't be like, Shaun: Exactly. Mm-hmm. Barry: yo, I got the king. Like you just gotta say, I got these books. Like and you Shaun: Yeah, and none of that signal and stuff like that either. Yeah. Barry: gotta say, okay, this is what I think I could get. What do you think? That's all you can do is talk about how many books Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: you think you can get. But it's all dependent, right? If you got a h spade heavy hand, you probably gonna get a lot because you're gonna start cutting people. And or you're gonna renege and then Shaun: Yeah, or you're gonna renege and you can't Yeah. Barry: yeah, it's gonna be bad news, bro. And hitting that double nil, Shaun: Yeah, I don't know. It's too much. Barry: bro, that's t that's hard. People start trying to set you up to win. Shaun: Yes. Barry: So nah, but I love it, bro. I love spades, bro. Every Shaun: Mm. Well, can't get into it. Barry: now and again I'll go through like a little where I'll download a little spades game to play on my phone. Shaun: yeah. Barry: And I know it's just a computer, but it's still fun. Shaun: Still fun, yeah. Not as intense, but still fun. Barry: But no. Shaun: Getting that buggy up. Maybe I should do that. Maybe I should start playing on my phone. That way I can learn, get familiar with it and do it. Yeah. Barry: Yeah, learn on your phone, bro. That's a good way to learn the rules. Mm-hmm. It's a good time. I love Shaun: And then get into it. Barry: some spades. Shaun: Hmm. I might do it. Maybe I'll find one. I don't know. That's nice. What else? I again we kinda we kinda just wanna Barry: Yeah. But so that was all your week playing w chilling with your homies? Shaun: Yeah, that was basically my week this week. I don't really do much during the week anymore. but weekends I've Barry: Work. Shaun: I've started to realize that I do value my weekends a little bit more now. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: because I am commuting to work and like doing like the Barry: Changes your perspective. Yeah, your Monday through Friday is now a lot more typical. Mm-hmm. Hey, ain't nothing wrong with that. Change it up a bit. That's good, Shaun: The typical, I guess like yeah, the typical. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's like being back in the old days pre COVID. It's like doing that again. It's not. Love it. So Barry: man. Shaun: it's really cool. I think that I do value my weekends a little bit more. so a friend of mine, she texted me yesterday and her her two girls, they're like, You should FaceTime Shaun tio So she texted me, she was like, Hey, can I FaceTime you? The girls want to see you. And like one of the first things they asked me was like, Are you gonna come over today? I was like, Well, if your mom and dad say it's okay, then yeah, I'll come over. Barry: Day, okay. Shaun: Yeah. So went over there, shout out to Brittany and John. did like a little impromptu cookout, had a good time, chilled. Barry: Hey, nothing wrong with that. Shaun: Yeah. So that was fun to hang out and see them, do some fun stuff. But that was basically the bulk of it today, which today is Sunday, by the way, yeah, as we are recording this. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: went cleaned my car. Gassed up for the week. Well, not the week, I guess three days or so. Barry: Hard out here, bro. Shaun: it is, bro. Like, I feel like I've gotten more gas in the last two weeks than I have in probably the last like six or seven months. Barry: probably like three years, bro. Shaun: Because I used to get gas like maybe once a month, if that, because Barry: Yeah, I can believe that. Shaun: I hardly ever went anywhere and did stuff. But yeah, still still EV shopping, still looking to see what it is that I might want to get. I did reframe my thoughts today because I was looking at like the Cadillacs and I dude, at one point I was looking at Hummer EVs and I was like. Barry: bro, those gotta be s bro, that's probably the only one I like off of looks, but I don't know enough about it. But I know the price is it's absurd. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: It is beautiful, way too expensive. Yeah. I was I was like I had to reframe my thought. I was like, okay, I'm getting this for commuting. This is not gonna be my everyday driver. This is not gonna be exactly. Yeah. Barry: Yeah, not a lifestyle. Like I'm not out here trying to stunt on people. Shaun: So I was like, okay, I can just get something that's like chill, cost effective, and Barry: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: good. So I I think that I've brought myself back down to reality. Yeah. Barry: So good. Little shift. Yeah. Shaun: So I'm gonna keep looking for that and see what I find there. But Yeah, I mean that's basically what my week has been at this point, chilling. And now I'm getting a kick it with you. Uh-oh. Barry: Yeah. Well speaking of back to reality, have you heard what's going on with LIV Golf and the PGA? Shaun: I've heard a little bit about it, but not much. It it's basically sounds like Liv is or the pla some of the players from Liv are coming back to PGA or trying to. Barry: They're struggle busting it, bro. Yeah. Well, they're considering because it sounds like Liv is so they're the big backer, financial backer was the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund. And I was just Shaun: Okay. Barry: reading up on it before we got in tonight. And yo, they've invested six billion dollars in this league since June of twenty twenty two when it was billion with a B, bro. Shaun: Billion with a B? Jeez. Barry: I mean, like we were talking about, bro, they they were paying like top names like four hundred million just to come play Shaun: Tons of money. Yeah. Barry: on the tour. So, I mean, you're shelling out all that up front, just trying to build the brand. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: And that investment fund has backed out at the end of April and said that they are no longer going to be in backing the league and So they canceled their end of the year tournament, which was I think supposed to be next weekend, and they I guess unofficially made the tournament that just ended today their official end of this season. Shaun: Dang Barry: And they're saying or the CEO's saying that he they should be able to come back for next year with limited a number of events. I was thinking I was reading it was ten total events for the season, five in the States and five international, which is very small for if you're out here trying to compete with the PGA. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: So yeah, to your point, I think some of the big names haven't made any commitments to come back, but I think what I've read is they're considering it. And one big name was Jon Rahm and I I read and I don't know I didn't really look into it, but it said he's really trying to come back potentially. But I was also reading they missed out on an opportunity that would have let them come back this year without having to pay any big fees, but that expired in February. Shaun: Mm. Barry: So PGA I haven't really heard what they're gonna try and do if they are gonna let any of the bigger names. But speaking of big names, Rory Mcllroy he's not a fan of Liv and he's not a fan Shaun: I saw that. Barry: of these players getting to come back. He was I don't know, bro. Shaun: Why be so salty though? Like Barry: I I mean Yeah, he like throwing shade. He was like, if this somebody gave us six billion on the PGA, he was like, I know we would have done a lot better. And he was like, If these players would have had value, like, why wouldn't Liv survive? He's like, So I don't really know what value they bring if they're gonna come back to the It He's getting older, bro. And these are a lot of younger talented guys, Shaun: I think he's scared. I think he's scared. Yeah, I think he's scared that they're gonna yeah. Barry: like Jon Rahm DeChambeau. I think Patrick Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: Reed, which he's a little older. He gets to come well, he would have gotten a comeback for the season finale, but it's over, so he's not coming Shaun: It's over now. Barry: back for this season. I guess he'll potentially get to get in next next year on the PGA. So yeah, I don't Shaun: Geez. Yeah. Barry: know what I Rory's I think he's just kinda one of those dudes that's he's a loyalist, he's a purist. Like you should have stayed, you shouldn't have got the money, you should have been Shaun: Which okay, we I mean, and we've talked about loyalty and money and kind of how that goes. I yeah. They don't care about you. Yes. Barry: Yeah, no bro, I'm get your bag, bro. 'Cause loyalty on the business end these these leagues, whether it's the PGA, the NBA, the NFL, you are an asset to them until you're not. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: And once you're not, they don't care, unfortunately. Shaun: They don't care about you anymore. Like, this is your job. Yes, it is a job that you love. It is a passion of yours. This is something that you have spent your life getting to. Yes. Barry: This is it. Mm-hmm. And it's great, yeah, that you get to play a game for your profession, but it's still that a profession. Shaun: Yes. Which you work to make money. Barry: Yep. Shaun: So why would you not get the money? I don't know. Barry: Get more for doing the same job. Shaun: Same job. The same thing. Just for more money. Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: So I don't know. I I think there is a little bit of fear. Barry: I it doesn't surprise. Yeah, I mean, yeah, you're bringing back some competitive dudes. Shaun: In him. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: what's his name? Brooks Kepka came back this season. He had a horrible year. Like, I don't even think Shaun: Yeah. Barry: he made the playoffs for the PGA. So Shaun: Dang. Barry: I don't know. I I to be honest, I haven't really kept up with Liv. I mean, I keep up with the PGA just because it's a lot easier to follow. Like Liv never really had any major TV deals here in the States. I think they were on the WB, maybe. Shaun: dang. Barry: Or whatever it is now, C C W B or whatever that Shaun: Well and that's probably part of why it never really kicked off here in America, because you didn't have the networks behind it. Yeah. Barry: Mm-hmm. Yeah, it didn't have the the notoriety or the the visibility. Shaun: Which PGA probably had a lot to do with that. Yeah. Mm-hmm. So but hey, Barry: No, I'm sure they made it hard and or if not the reason why they couldn't, for sure. So Yeah. Shaun: I I say good on the ones that went to LIV, made that bag, and if you make it back to the PGA, good for you. Good on you, bro. Because that's what it's about. Barry: Yo. Mega, bro. Good for you. Mm-hmm. No, I've s yeah. No, I was telling you that I I've read a lot of these guys are considering if Lib is gonna collapse to try and go make it on the European tour and just try and get in and try and get money and still play the way that way. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Gotta go through the Q school and get certified, qualified for what their Shaun: Yeah. So they can qualify. Barry: tour card for the European tour. For next season. But Shaun: I mean either way, yeah. If you get to keep doing what it is that you love and playing golf, you get to keep making the money to support your family and build this life that you want. Barry: Stupid amount of money, bro. I was just looking, yo, the dude who won today, the BMW for the PGA, there in their playoff. This is the first round Shaun: Yeah. Barry: of their playoff. The top guy walked away with three point six million dollars for four days of golf. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Rory actually did well. He's he finished third. He walked away with one point four. Shaun: A million dollars for four days of work. A quarter mil a day. Barry: For four days. He got a quarter or a little three hundred thousand a day. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I mean, he doesn't walk away with that. His caddy gets probably Shaun: Of course. Barry: ten percent, if not more, his agent, like all of his people. So, but still, bro, yeah. You're still walking away with a good bag on a weekly basis. Mm-hmm. That's Shaun: agents fees and things like the taxes are gonna come out. But that's a ton of money for four days of work. Yeah. Barry: what I yo, that was always my dream, bro. Like, if I could just get onto the tour and make a weekend. You're walking Shaun: Yeah. Barry: away with fifty, sixty K, bro. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I mean again, of course you're gonna pay out, so it's not pure profit, but are you kidding me? But yo. It's but again. Let's just write. Shaun: There's like where else can you do that in everyday life? Nowhere. Unless unless you go down the the wrong path of like illegal activity, then yeah, maybe, but still not even that much money in that short of a time. So I don't know. Barry: No, bro. Yeah. No. They got it made, bro. I mean, again, it's a lot of pressure. I couldn't imagine Shaun: Yeah. Barry: it. It's a lot of work. Like thousands of shots a day. Like, Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: yo, I get tired of just playing eighteen holes, bro. Like, psh that's what I say. I just d I I did not have the drive to go out there trying to do all that. Shaun: And that's a lot that's a lot of like wear and tear on your body too, because it's full body mechanics that goes into golfing, so Yeah. Barry: It is. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. It's a lot of tension and torque on your joints, like your knees and your back. Like I mean, Tigers has so much outside of all the other problems he has, but his body is really kind of broken down. Mm-hmm. Yep. Like his back fusions are from golf. Like Shaun: Kind of where it stems from. Yeah. Man. Yeah. Barry: he puts so much torque on his back throughout his career. I mean, Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: the b human body can only take so much. Shaun: Can. Barry: So again, you don't know when that's gonna happen. So why wouldn't you go get the bag? Like if you a person for that got offered a LIV contract for quarter of a billion dollars, who would say like why wouldn't you, bro? It ain't. Shaun: Do it. Cause tomorrow is not promised. You can be as loyal as you want, but Barry: Yep. As soon as you ain't available or or valuable, it's over. Nope. Shaun: Yeah. They don't care anymore. So make that money. Do what you can. Take care of your family. Yeah, I do too. Barry: Make it bro. Get it. I hope y'all get back, like I really do. Get the best golfers out there and just let people watch it, man. 'Cause I mean they are. They are phenomenal athletes and Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: they are who they are for a reason. So that's what people want to watch. That's Shaun: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: why I love golf, bro. I feel like that's one of the only sports where like everyday average people like myself, I can hit a shot as good as those dudes from like once in the blue moon. I could put a Shaun: Yeah. Barry: move on a ball. Shaun: They can just do it consistently. Yeah. Yeah. Talk about the NBA. Barry: I can't do that in the NBA. Yes, that is the big difference. They do it three times in a row. A lot of times. Shaun: Steph Curry, the best shooter that's ever touched a basketball. I don't care who you are, what you say, he is the best three point shooter, the best shooter, pure shooter that's ever touched a basketball. Barry: Pure shooter. I would not Shaun: Tell me why he got pissed off because he he made 105 threes in a row and then missed one. Barry: Why would you be mad about that? Shaun: And then he missed one. So he was mad about it. I'm like, that's insane. I could never imagine Barry: No, bro. That's insane. Shaun: doing something like that. Like Barry: That's what I'm saying, bro. You set such high standards and expectations for yourself. Shaun: Yes. Barry: Like you get mad, I'd be ecstatic if I made 50 in a row. What are you talking about? 105. But that's the level, bro. That's where they get to, man. Same thing with golf, bro. But Shaun: Mm-hmm. A hundred and five. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: that's why I say I don't think I could ever come close to that in Shaun: No. Barry: my life. But I can hit a damn good shot in golf from time to Shaun: Yeah. Barry: time. I've never had a hole in one that's still chasing it. Shaun: I was about to say what Barry: Yo, my uncle just did that recently. He played Shaun: Really? Barry: for forty some years before that, bro. Shaun: D. Barry: So it some people never get it. I really hope I'm not that person. And then I have friends who have never played and get lucky. And I've had like one or two people that I know who are not that good at golf and they have a hole in one, bro. It's just it's pure luck, bro. Like for us, Shaun: I mean Yeah, it it's luck and Barry: for us normal folks, it's pure luck. Like peach it is. You gotta play a lot. You gotta, yeah. Shaun: Also time too, like being able to get out there and play enough games and play enough rounds, I guess. Barry: I've come I've come that close. I've Shaun: Okay. Barry: been six inches off the hole. I've hit the flag and the ball rolled off. That's the closest I've ever come to a hole in one. So Shaun: That's wild. Barry: I've had a couple eagles, quite a few birdies, never a hole in one. Again, but it's a lot of luck, bro. Shaun: Yeah. I believe in you, dog. You're gonna do it. Barry: A couple of the eagles I hit, I just hold out from the fairway and lucky is I don't know what. I mean that's what I wanted to do, but it wasn't like, that's in. I like, that went in, Shaun: It wasn't like yeah. Barry: Thank God. So it yo, I always say, bro, it's better to be lucky than good Shaun: I'm glad that that happened. I was I wanted it to happen. I didn't know it was going to. Barry: in golf, 'cause luck will get you some great things, man. Shaun: Yeah. Someday, man, you'll get it. I believe in you. I'm gonna be there when you do it too. I won't be Hey nah. I was supposed to go for a bachelor Barry: I hope, man. I hope. I sh I would love it. I don't know why you would, but hey, maybe we'll get you out there. You'd be there for me. I mean, you gotta think it. Shaun: party a couple years ago and I was like, nah, y'all y'all got it. Do it. Yeah. Barry: It's hot bro. If you go in the middle of the day, it's hot in Texas, bro. Unless like you said, October, November. Still some decent weather where you can get out and it's not too crazy. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: But yeah. Shaun: Hey, get me out there in late January, early February. I'll do that. Barry: Yo, I'm down. Yo, I've been out there in some crazy weather. I'm not that gung ho anymore about it. Like I'm now Shaun: Yeah. I feel like that would make your joints hurt even more, like out there when it's actually cold. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: Yeah, that's part of the problem, but when it's cold, it's hard to warm up. And yeah, it's way more painful. A lot Shaun: Well Barry: less fluid and just relax, like you're out there struggling. Them youngsters. Them youngsters. Speaking of the youngsters, Shaun: Like the young kids. We ain't got it like the young kids no more. Man. What the Barry: bro. Shaun: dog, okay, so yeah. Yes, actually the young kids. NCAA is right around the corner. Thank goodness. Dude, I am Barry: College football its comin Shaun: so I don't think you understand how ready I am for football and basketball season. Yes. Barry: I know you're a big college football fan. And I know we're both ready for for the NBA. You know, that's two, three months away, but still. Yeah, bro, it's brutal. June June to this time. And even now, Shaun: These these months during the summer between the NBA playoffs leading up to yes, this Barry: like I'm not a big preseason NFL person at all. Like, give me the regular season. Was that September? Shaun: No. Like, yeah, preseason means nothing. So Barry: Just people trying to make the cut. Shaun: Mm-hmm. But the AP poll came out. So the AP Top Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: 25, it did preseason. Let's let's say that. The preseason AP Top 25 came Barry: Yep. Pre season poll. Shaun: out. Barry: Was that Thursday, Friday? Or was it Wednesday? I think it was Wednesday. Yeah. Yeah. I think you're right. Shaun: I think it was Wednesday. Yeah, I think it was Wednesday that it came out. Yeah. There's some of course there are some juggernauts that are up here, but there are also Barry: Always Shaun: some surprises, in my opinion, as well. I mean, we'll we'll take it, let's take it in sections. So the top five Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Texas. That's the top five in order. Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Texas. Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: I don't hate it, but Notre Dame pisses me off. I Barry: I just y'all you know the Dame fans aren't gonna like what me and Shaun have to say because they don't deserve that ever. Ever. Shaun: Yes. It pisses me off so much with another name. Like I just don't feel that you deserve to be up there if you are not a part of a conference. Barry: No. No, bro. No. It's just pure Shaun: I give Barry: selfishness. You just out here trying to make the money and not have to commit Shaun: Yeah. Barry: and play nobody. Every year. Shaun: play yes. Barry: Every year. Shaun: You sprinkle in one or two games every year, the rest of your se or the rest of your schedule is cake. Barry: Last year it came back to bite y'all on your butt and then y'all got y'all's feelings hurt. So Shaun: Mm-hmm. Yes. Barry: again, I'm not I don't feel bad because I mean if you win out, you're get you're good. You'll be in there starting the Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: season at four. There's no reason you shouldn't win out, probably based off your schedule too. So Shaun: Yeah. Barry: it's not a fan of them, bro. They always get Shaun: And Barry: that benefit for what? Shaun: I don't know. It it sucks because I really like Marcus Freeman too. I I I think he's a heck of a head coach. Barry: Yeah, he's a heck of a coach, man. Heck of a coach. Shaun: Like such a good example of what like a young, like great head coach can be. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: with the way that he talks and the way that he communicates, his body language that he that he responds with. I feel Barry: Yep. Shaun: like he's such a great example of a head coach, but it's just like no I just can't get behind Notre Dame and them not Barry: Neither for Shaun: being a part of contr like just join the Big Ten. Like just do it. Yeah, true. So Barry: I mean now it's like the big twenty. So many teams in the big ten now. Shaun: same thing with the Big 12. There's like I think there's like 17 or 18 teams in the Big 12. So it doesn't even make sense anymore. No. Barry: Crazy. SECs ain't small either. These the power five are insane. Shaun: But that and that's the thing. So your your top team, four of the top five teams are Big Ten or SEC, which makes sense because those are the really difficult teams. Barry: Yep. Not a surprise. Mm-hmm. Shaun: But then like six through ten. You've got Indiana, Miami, Florida, AM, Texas AM, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma. So once you get there, you've got four out of the five teams that are SEC teams. So how do you I don't understand how do you not see that the SEC is by far the most difficult path to the championship? Barry: yeah, I would agree with that. The Big Ten. I'm surprised that Indiana Shaun: Big Ten is tough. Barry: fell that far too, being the defending champ. I'm really surprised. Shaun: Yeah, that's true. Barry: I guess I don't know enough about Indiana. I know they brought back the coach. I know they lost the Mendoza kid to the the draft. I know his brother left too, so I don't Shaun: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: know who their quarterback will be, but I mean he's built a s I mean super solid program in what three years? Two years? Shaun: Super solid program. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: So I don't understand the fall off unless they lost a lot in in, you know, in portal movement and or draft. But that's crazy to me. But no, I Shaun: Yeah. Barry: agree with you. But SEC's probably the toughest in NCAA conference for football. As much as I hate to say that, because I'm a Big Ten guy. I love I mean, my team is Penn State. I don't I hate Shaun: Mhm. And you've got I mean, you've got you're a big ten guy. Yeah. Yes. Barry: Ohio State just because of the rivalry. And I'm Shaun: Sure. Barry: sure Ohio State people would try and talk crap and say, Well, what kind of rivalry? We beat y'all. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Like to me, that's their Penn State's biggest rival right now. Like and Shaun: Yeah. Barry: it usually d determines the outcome of their season every year. Last season they were played horribly. They just they were considered a possible champion and just shat the bed, unfortunately. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: And Franklin was fired, I think. Unjust. I'm excited to see the new guy. Campbell. They got Campbell from Iowa State. And he's brought Shaun: Well, I don't think I knew that. Barry: a lot of their young talent. They were good to finish out the year last year. Like they made some noise in the Big Twelve. Shaun: Hm. Barry: Or where is the what is it? Yeah, no, they're in the Big Twelve. So I'm excited to see what he does there. He brought they did a pretty good I guess recruiting class. I don't know what you call it. Call it anymore when it's really much pay for play, but Shaun: Basically, yeah. Barry: They they went out and bought people. Shaun: I mean, that's what all the teams are doing right now. I feel like yeah, that's just kind of it they're Barry: I mean that's the game right now, unfortunately. But Shaun: they're basically pros without being pros at this point. Or at least Barry: yeah. Yeah. Shaun: your your top players are anyway. Barry: Mm-hmm. they I mean, a lot of them are just trying to make money, bro. And Shaun: Yeah. Which I mean Barry: like we talk about with professional sports, until they rein it in on the NCAA level, why wouldn't you go get the bag? I get it. That's what I'm saying. The system Shaun: Why would you not try and do it? Because for so long Barry: is just set up so poorly for to support these schools to build programs. Now it's just go out and recruit people in the portal. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: For so long they weren't able to get money. So I again I get that they should get it, but the it's a wild, wild west out there though, bro. Shaun: Yeah. There has Barry: So Shaun: to be some sort of amateurism left to it. But even with that, I mean, when you think about it, there are now these players that are getting their fifth year and being able to come back to college. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: Yo, they're getting like eight years if they get ki any kind of injury or something. They're out here fighting to s extend their their eligibility. They red shirted a year. Shaun: But they're even getting to come back from the NFL. It's like if they go to the NFL and then for whatever reason, they're not able to stick around, then like, hey, let's see if we can make you eligible again. Because you didn't actually play any snaps in the NFL. Yeah. I don't know. It's same. Barry: Yo, I heard about that, bro. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. It's crazy. Again, that the system is just you gotta rein it in, bro. I don't know how. I don't have the answer. I wish I did. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: To me, I don't understand why there's not some type of capital or cap level to the capital that these schools can spend. 'Cause I mean your big Shaun: Yeah. Barry: schools like U T, your boys, they go out and pay big money to get people. Yeah, the boosters throw whatever 'cause they want to go out and win. So all of bro. Alabama, Ohio State was the like they spent the most last year, I think. And like Shaun: There's so much money in UT. Yeah. But I mean, same thing as AM. Like UT, AM, USC, Alabama. Yes. Freaking Oregon has Nike behind them. Like, what are you gonna do with that? Yeah. Yeah. Barry: Mm. Yeah, you got a a a huge rich booster out there who gives y'all jerseys and all kinds of stuff to Yeah. I Shaun: Yeah. Barry: feel like you gotta make that more equal. 'Cause I get it. I don't think you can't penalize them for being big programs, but you gotta give some of these smaller programs some kind of way to even compete for these Shaun: Yeah. Barry: talent the kids. But Shaun: Well, and that's where some of the surprise comes in. So that was the top ten. The next group is in eleven you've got LSU, then Texas Tech, Alabama, BYU, and S and USC. So that's the next group. Barry: But BYU, they did they had a good year. And they Penn speaking to them, Shaun: They did. They had a really good group. A really good year. Barry: Penn State tried to poach their coach. I forget his name. They they he was their desired coach and he ended up getting a big extension with BYU to stay. Shaun: Mm, okay. Barry: So Shaun: I think Lane Kiffin and LSU is gonna be pretty interesting. We'll see what that looks like. That old yeah, that old miss game is gonna be fun. Yeah. Barry: That is gonna be interesting. Especially the way he did Ole Miss and everything. Here that was a horrible exit, bro. He hand he handled that so poorly. In my opinion. Yeah, that'll be interesting. Mm-hmm. Shaun: But it's it's at LSU, so that's why I'm like, how many Ole Miss people are gonna come? Because that's gonna be an exciting game, man. And I I Barry: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: hope, I hope so much, because LSU night games are insanely incredible. I hope so much. It has to be. Yeah, Barry: Yo. What is it, Death Valley then do they call it, bro? Shaun: it has to be a night game if they're playing Ole Miss. Barry: I would imagine. That would only make sense, bro. Primetime Saturday night? Yeah. Why wouldn't you do that? is it? Hm. Shaun: Yeah. Mm-hmm. And it's it's fairly early in the season too. Yeah. When do they play? it is a night game. They play September nineteenth. Yeah. Yes. that's for sure going on the list, man. Barry: yeah. Why wouldn't you, bro? Why that is silly? The NCAA would have messed up if they didn't make that a night game. Especially if like Ole Miss and them are both like undefeated coming into that. Are you kidding? In an early season match like that? Shaun: Mm-hmm. Yes. Barry: That's some college, some some playoff implications right there. That's good. Yeah. Yeah. My Penn State they fall into that next group, right? I think you said 18. Shaun: Yes, that's gonna be great. Super excited about that. And then when you go down, they do fall into the next group. Yeah. So this is where you start to see some of the schools that are like getting an opportunity to be in the top 25. So you've got Michigan, which they've had a lot of turmoil that's happened in the last couple of years. Yeah. Barry: craziness going on there. Shaun: But Michigan, Washington, Penn State, SMU, and Tennessee are the next group. And then to round out, they did. They've been competitive, but I mean, again, exactly. You think about the teams in the SEC now, it's Barry: When in Tennessee fell off a lot 'cause they've been competitive the last couple of years. But they've never like broken that next level. They've stayed in that kind of second tier. Mm hmm. Shaun: are you still up there? Barry: Yeah. Shaun: But then at the at the bottom, or I mean not the bottom, you're at the bottom of the top, wrapping up the top twenty five. You've got Utah, Barry: Wrapping up to twenty five. Yeah, yeah. Shaun: Iowa, Houston, Louisville, and Missouri. So I would say I would say getting the opportunity to have Louisville, Iowa, Houston in there is really not and SMU too. I would even say SMU too. Like they're really strong programs, but to have them up there, Barry: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Well yeah. Mm-hmm. But you're giving a chance, yeah. Shaun: yeah, to where they're in the top twenty-five to start the preseason, I think that's Barry: Yeah. Shaun: great because that gives them the opportunity. Where it Barry: I would agree. Shaun: becomes weird is where when you get to like the other teams that receive votes. James Madison, they got votes. Georgia Tech, Western Michigan, Tulane. Barry: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: Like it's almost like, why are you giving them votes? You know that if they do make it to Barry: Why, yeah. They're not gonna be competitive. Shaun: the playoffs again, it's just those games that we just saw this past season that were not good at all. Yeah. So why would Barry: Mm. No, they were bad. Yeah. Shaun: you do that? I think that cheapens the playoffs when you get there. Barry: Dilute your talent pool, bro. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Now I feel like twelve is a good number. I really I don't Shaun: Yeah. Barry: wanna go any higher than what I feel like that gives a lot of people the opportunity to get hot, play good football at the right time of the year and could stun some of the bigger programs. I don't think it's gonna be outside of the power five. I hate to say that. I don't think I don't think the level of competition gap has closed in college football the way it has in college basketball. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I feel like there's a lot of talent regardless of sport, but I feel like in college basketball, since there's only five people on the court, you're gonna have a lot better quality where a NCAA roster has what fifty some people on it? If not more. Yeah, that's I'm saying. Like I feel Shaun: Yeah. I think like fifty two, fifty four, something like that. Barry: like it's somewhere in the fifties. Like that's a lot of kids to try and get on a field. So And like we were saying, those big programs got big boosters, bro. And it's hard I mean, these kids, some of never even thought about that kind of money. So they're gonna try and get and take care of themselves and their families and they're gonna go get those big those big dollars where they where they're at. And so you're gonna Shaun: Yeah. Barry: get your talent where that follows and with the transfer portal, they're gonna be like, All right, I d we didn't make it this year. Where's the next spot if it ain't here? Yep. Shaun: Wars, yeah. Like, where can I go to make some money? Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: So but and that's the thing with like the Big Ten and the SEC, they've won, I think, eight or nine of the last ten championships. I think Clemson's the only one that has gotten championships Barry: Not a surprise at all. Mm outside of a Shaun: outside of those. So it's like if you if you want to have quote unquote parity in football, you have to do something with the conferences or Barry: Yep. Or make it equal or e more equal. They're Shaun: It's it just doesn't matter. Those teams are just better. Yeah. Barry: gonna be better because they're out paying for the talent. Shaun: They've got the talent, they've got the they've got the heritage, like players want to go there, they've got the coaches that know what they're Barry: Yep. Yep. Shaun: doing, they know that they have the exposure that they can make it to the NFL, hopefully, or at least get a shot at potentially making it. So I d I don't know. I I think that yeah, same. Barry: And next level. Mm-hmm. Yep. Yeah, again, I don't have the answer. I don't know the depths that it goes to, like I'm sure all the marketing money and all the things that talk when it comes to those decisions. As we've said multiple times in a sad sad Shaun: Yeah. Barry: state of mind, it capitalism and greed is gonna win out more times than not. Shaun: This is what runs everything. Barry: It is, so it don't change in in NCAA, football, basketball, I mean marketing money makes decisions, bro. So but I Shaun: Yeah. Barry: don't know. It's it's an imperfect system that could be better. Shaun: It is. Barry: but it's still feeding a lot of mouths, bro. And so Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: again, for those kids that that have put in work and still looking to get to that next level, man, go go do your thing. No no hate. No hate on my side, and I'm sure Shaun agrees, man. Shaun: absolutely not. No. Barry: Go get that money. So but Shaun: Gotta make the money, mine. Barry: I don't know how you reform it and make it beneficial Shaun: Yeah. Barry: and more at least a little closer to fare. So Shaun: And and that's the whole thing with the committee too, is because Barry: yeah, you're always gonna have people that don't like their decisions. Shaun: Yeah. Like there's I feel like you have to have a way to eliminate the committee aspect of it. Because as much as you think that they are trying to be objective and make the Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Barry: Marketing what matchups matter to them still. It's gonna be in the back of their brain. Mm-hmm. Shaun: And they no matter what, if they have some sort of loyalty or bias to a school, they it's going to creep Barry: Or or even a conference. Shaun: or conference, it's going to creep in in some form or fashion at some point. Yes. So I don't know. Barry: Mm-hmm. It's in some even if it's a percentage, it's still gonna have an influence. Yeah, no, I agree, bro. Like make your conference champions so many your I don't know. Just but yes, take out the human decision and it really set a rule and follow the rules. Shaun: Or do you just eliminate the the power conferences and go to Eastern Western Barry: Just do your top. Shaun: conference type of a situation? Barry: I don't know, bro. Shaun: I mean, I I f I feel like even if you do that, you're still screwed. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: Because if you think of like the Eastern Conference, depending on wherever you make that line, Barry: Versus the West. Where's the line? Shaun: you're still gonna have your old misses, your LSUs, your Alabamas, your Penn States, like all of those are gonna be in the East. Barry: All of that in the East. East is gonna be brutal. A handful. Shaun: West, you do have S or S C, you've got Oregon and like Utah and stuff like that, but Barry: Outside of that, it ain't that ain't much. Nah, bruh. Shaun: Not that strong. So I don't know. I don't know how you do it. Barry: I don't either, man. I guess if you split it Texas, then you could pull pull Texas and A and into the West. Oklahoma. It gives it a little Shaun: Yeah. Barry: equal more equalness, but that's about the where else do you draw a line? Shaun: Yeah. I don't know. Barry: If you do that, it can make it a little closer. But even then I feel like that's a five that's a five team race. And if you look at the east, that's gonna be like a ten team race when you think about it. Like who could potentially Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: try and make it out of a Eastern conference on that? Alabama, Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that would be East. I don't know. Shaun: Yeah, that would be east for sure. Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: I mean Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Flor you Barry: LSU Shaun: would have Florida and Miami, Florida, both in the east. I I don't know. I I don't know how you do it. Mm hmm. Ole Miss Mississippi State. Barry: Yeah. Like you say, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Indiana. Those all be East Co mm. There would be a lot of competition going in one co I don't Shaun: Yeah. Barry: know. I don't know how you do it. That's what I say, I don't have an answer. I just Shaun: There's not Barry: have ideas, bro. Shaun: strength of schedule has to matter. I Barry: Has to matter. Shaun: f I feel like again, my bias creeps in because I am a Texas fan, but Barry: Yeah. Shaun: Texas has a heck of a schedule this year. And I you there's not really a way to avoid it in the Big Twelve. Barry: No. Shaun: But that's where it becomes unfair that Notre Dame is able to be Barry: Just skirt. Shaun: up there, but they don't have to have as difficult of a schedule. Yeah. Barry: They get to choose who they want and who they don't want. Shaun: I don't know. Like when you Barry: Yeah, I would agree. Shaun: when you're in Notre Dame and you're playing and no no shade. But when you're playing like Barry: no. Shade. Shaun: when you're playing like Navy and when you're playing Stanford and Rice, I mean Barry: You're gonna you should beat all of those teams. It should not be a competition. Your only game is USC. That's your biggest game most of every season. And Shaun: You should beat them. Yes. But when you're Texas and you're playing, that's your biggest game. Exactly. Barry: I know they've gone with A and a couple games in the last couple seasons, and that's usually been made or broke their season. But yeah, Texas is gonna go through God knows who. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Ohio State, Tennessee, A and LSU, Oklahoma. Yeah. Barry: Did they start in Michigan last year? Like I mean, I know Michigan didn't end up being that good, but they're s yeah, no, you're they're choosing Shaun: And Ohio State is our second game this season. Like we played Texas State for the warm up and then Ohio State at Ohio State in the horseshoe. At yes. So I feel like strength of schedule has to mean something. Barry: That's gonna be a tough road game, bro. Yeah. No, it should, a hundred percent. And that's I know the committee says that it does, but again, bro, I don't know. Shaun: doesn't really show up that often. I don't I don't feel like Barry: Again, I don't know how you make it to where that matters and how you can calculate or give a like a point system to that. 'Cause you'd have Shaun: Yeah. Barry: to wait till everything shakes out, I think. Like you'd have to see who won and who lost. But if it's all a mathematical statistical system, it should run. Sh I mean shoot, Shaun: We should. Barry: we got AI now, bro. Just tell them what you need. Shaun: Well, that's the thing. So they did the computer system back in the day and it didn't really work that great either. But I feel like now technology has come such a long Barry: But AI's come a long way, bro. Mm. Shaun: way and like we have more information. We have better ways to kind of systematically make those decisions. I I don't know. There has to be something else. Barry: Yep. Try it bro. Yeah, but expanding it is not it to me. I don't think getting a bigger Shaun: Or do both. Have the committee, have the computer system see how it compares. If you're looking at the eye test with the committee and you're looking at the numbers with the computer system, how does that balance out? Where are like where do those lines cross? Barry: That statistics. Mm-hmm. Make it a tool, use it as a resource to make your decision Shaun: Yes, Barry: more informed and more justifiable and more solid, I feel. Remove as much bias as you can and Shaun: Yeah. Then Yeah, and then you've got both sides of it. Exactly. Barry: make the numbers count. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: So, I mean, then you might incentivize teams to run up a score, which I know that's not what people want to see, but I mean, they do it in the NBA Cup, Shaun: I I think it is. Barry: in the Cup League. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: You're incentivized to run up the score in the NBA Cup. Shaun: Yes. I feel like the only Barry: So Shaun: place where you don't want to do that, especially in in football because it's such a short season, is you have to protect the players' health. If you're up 40 points, take your take your starters out. Please take your freaking starters out. Like there is no need to have them in there. We Barry: Pull your starters. Yeah, get your second string. No reason. No. Shaun: saw that happen in the NFL last year with freaking Bo Nicks Barry: Mm. Shaun: getting hurt on a play that he should not have been in on. Just take him out of the game. But yeah, I don't know. So I I think that there are options that are out there. Again, neither of us have the answer to it. But yeah. Barry: No, I don't. I wish I did. I'd probably be not doing this if I had the answer. I'd probably be out there helping make it happen. No, I am looking forward to it. Yes. Yes. Shaun: Right? But either way, I'm super excited about it. I'm just excited the football and basketball are coming back, that they're on their way back. That is my happy place. That is where I am like most happy. Yes. Mm-hmm. Barry: I would agree. It's a good time of year. From from September to June. I'm usually pretty s satisfied with the sports options. Shaun: Yes. I'm also very satisfied because got some good news the other day that Klay Thompson is coming to the heat. Barry: my gosh. Shaun: Got that contract buyout from Dallas. He's coming to the heat. I'm telling you, dude, okay. So Barry: Nah, that's good for y'all, bro. Shaun: at this point we've got Andrew Wiggins. We got Klay Thompson. Steph is coming. He's he's coming to South Beach. It's gonna happen. Barry: He's not, bro. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but he's not. I I know that's your dream, but I'm just trying to keep it real, bro. Shaun: Stop trying to random upgrade. It's going to happen. Barry: I don't want you to get too high in La La Land. Shaun: it's the beginning. I I I can see it happening. I I want it to. Barry: I feel like y'all still need one or two more people, bro. Shaun: Yeah. Shooting is what we needed though. So having Klay Barry: Yeah, it was a if he can turn it back a little and look better than he did in Dallas, I think you'd be all right. No, I don't know if he had Shaun: I think he can. I I don't think he ever really found his spot in Dallas. And I mean Barry: a defined role of what he truly needed to provide for that team, especially Shaun: Yeah. Barry: without Kyrie. Shaun: And plus being away from like big water to where he can get on on his boat and just kind of do his thing. Like now he's gonna have that Miami. He can get back on the boat, he can do his thing. Yes. Barry: Mm. my gosh. This guy. He's hope he finds his happiness in Miami. So he go out hoop. Shaun: He ain't got Megan clouding his play in his judgment anymore. So he can come and do it in South Beach. I know, right? Way more distractions in Miami. Barry: Go and you're gonna have a lot of other girls on his on his mind now in Miami though. Way too many, bro. Talking about cheeks, I betcha they just out in Miami, bro. So Shaun: jinx all day, every day there. Couldn't imagine. But yeah, I'm super excited about that. I I would also say that Denver got a heck of a pickup in DeMar DeRozan. They Yeah, Barry: Yeah, that is a good veteran signing for them. Shaun: they they need a good steady scorer Barry: Yeah. Shaun: like him. Barry: I think with him and and and Jamal Murray they'll be a good little duo. Shaun: I think that takes some of the pressure off of Jamal Murray too. Yeah. Barry: I think it does. And Jokic too. I feel like DeMar could still get you twelve close to twenty. He's a sh he's a scorer. Shaun: yeah. I think he could easily do that. Yeah. Barry: His mid-range is deadly, bro. And I mean, once you get to that old, that's Shaun: He might be one of the most Barry: all you need to do is have a good mid-range. Get to your spots and just knock them down. Nah, Shaun: Have a good middy and then you're good. Mm-hmm. Barry: I think that'll be a good system for him. A good spot. I'd agree with that. Shaun: Yeah. I think he's one of the most underrated players in the league. Easily. I think he is. Yeah. Barry: dude. Top top scorer, bro. Like, just done it his whole career. Love Damar. I would always love to see Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: him in Celtic Green, but I don't it just I don't think it ever came anywhere close, but I would have loved that. Shaun: Yeah. I mean nobody really wants to be a Celtic though. Barry: Okay. Why do we need to tell you so? Shaun: I'm joking. The Celtics have a very rich history. I know. They are one of the winningest organization, or they are the. They are the technically right now. Tech, technically, right now, Barry: No, it's not one of the I was gonna say, go ahead change them words, bro. Change them words. Shaun: they are the winningest organization in the NBA. Barry: The Lakers aren't catching them this year. You crazy if you think them white boys gonna go out here and win a championship, bruh. Shaun: you never know, dog. Barry: I'd rather see Philly win it than see the Lakers win. I'll say that as a Celtic fan, 'cause I don't want the Lakers to get to nineteen, bro. Or I mean eighteen. I am. Shaun: Yeah, I can't stand Philly, but I'm excited to see what they do. Barry: I am it's hate as much as I hate to say it, I am anxious to see what they become. 'Cause if Shaun: Yeah. Barry: they get really good, it's gonna be brutal to be in the same conference as them. Shaun: It is. I'm telling you, East Eastern Conference Bron is different. And now he doesn't have the pressure of scoring as much. Like he's got scoring all around him. Barry: No, he sure doesn't. He better become a distributor. Shaun: I mean, yeah. He's gonna end the he's gonna end the season probably top three of assists. I would say. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: That should be his bread and butter. And assist. I wouldn't be surprised with that. He's he has court vision. Like, as much as I'm not the biggest fan of him, then he can see the court, bro. He definitely Shaun: Yeah. Barry: knows hoop. I don't know. I don't know, man. Shaun: Gonna be fun, dude. And then the Peyton Watson trade, that was a really big one, that sign a trade, which moved a lot of people around. Barry: It is. That was some big movement. Mm-hmm. Shaun: That's kind of where this DeRozan comes from. Barry: Yeah, once that happened, then they were able to go get him. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Who did they get in return for that? Shaun: For who? Barry: Who did the Nug did the Nuggets get anybody or they just traded away? Hmm. I think they got some draft picks, I feel like maybe. Shaun: I think they just traded away and then that freed up the space for Dum for DeMar. Probably. I wouldn't be surprised. Barry: But Washington was in on that trade. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: The Wizards. Shaun: I mean they still got Cristian Braun so they've got the Barry: Hmm. He kind of had a down season last year, I feel. He wasn't as solid as he's been. He's still young, bro. I think it's like third or fourth year in the league, so yeah, he's still got. Shaun: He did. But he is I mean, he's a good s yeah. Mhm. He's a good solid player. Barry: Mm-hmm. He's a good he's a good third, fourth option. Good role player. Yeah, I think Shaun: They're gonna be good. Yeah. Barry: the Nuggets got a little a little more competitive. West is gonna be tough, man. It really I mean, I don't know. Shaun: The West is always tough. I feel like the West is always tough. The East is where it's kind of like ebbs and flows. Yeah. Barry: Yeah. It's always hit or miss. I feel like the East is gonna be a tough, tough conference this year, bro. Shaun: East is definitely stacked toward more toward the top, I would say, in the east. Barry: Especially if the Kawhi Leonard trade ever goes to. Like, I don't even it's Shaun: Right. Barry: I still haven't heard that that's official. Shaun: Yeah, I haven't heard it yet either, but I would assume Barry: So Shaun: that it is that he's Barry: I would imagine now that everything's clear Shaun: Yeah. Barry: in the in the investigation. Shaun: And Harden also signed his contract, so he's gonna be in Cleveland for a few more years. Barry: Mm. I did see that. I think he was kinda waiting to see what moves they made too. Cause they got rid of Schroeder. Yeah, Shaun: Yeah, I think he was waiting to see. I think he was just trying to free up space for Bron to Barry: and to see if they could go after him. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: Yeah, Cleveland. Who did they they got Watson, right? That was the big person they pulled in with that trade. From the Nuggets. So it'll Shaun: Yeah. From the nuggets. Barry: be interesting to see what they look like. Shaun: I don't really know what ended up happening for Sacramento though. I I don't know what they ended up getting. Barry: Yeah, I feel bad for whoever's in Sacramento, bro. That's just a dead end for people's careers, bro. Shaun: Mm. I mean, what are you supposed to do though? There's not much you can do. Barry: I mean especially if they draft you. Shaun: Yeah. I don't Barry: no. Shaun: know. It's gonna be a really good season though. Super excited about it. Mm-hmm. Barry: Like I say, we're about eight weeks out from preseason, man. Shaun: I know we talked about it in our like extended episode or like our little supplemental episode that we did. But Christmas Day is gonna be nonstop basketball. I'm Barry: Sorry for that. Shaun: if I don't have to leave the T V until later at night, I don't think I will. Yeah. Just gonna be such great basketball. Barry: There's no reason. I mean I will I'll be making moves to Shaun: Yeah. Barry: To watch Shaun: That's why I have my phone with me. Barry: Yep. Shaun: I'll just find a a chair to sit in the corner. I'll have my phone up and let the kids they can do everything that they want to do. But I'm gonna be watching basketball. I don't know. We're in for some good stuff. Doa. Barry: Do their thing. Mm-hmm. It's my Christmas present. Mm-hmm. So that'll be my Christmas gift, just watching the games. Let me be. Just let me be. Yeah. Fo show. Shaun: Yep. Just just let me watch my games.
