- 5:18Speaker 3: something eleven days to Independence Day eleven. It hit me yesterday.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my god, finally starting warm up. It's
- 5:31Speaker 3: going to be hot for what two days and then
- 5:38Speaker 3: and then we're gonna be back to spring leg temperatures.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Be careful out on the roads, not only today but
- 5:48Speaker 3: all this week. Road construction zones are just everywhere. They're

- 6:05Speaker 3: There's just so much going on everywhere. Not only is
- 6:10Speaker 3: it going to continue to test your patients, but it's

- 7:28Speaker 3: to be with the Reds tonight at seven to ten.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Chase Brisco wins at Pocono. It was a pretty good
- 7:35Speaker 3: weekend for me anyway, I hope it was for you,
- 7:40Speaker 3: no matter what you were doing. It's out on the
- 7:44Speaker 3: dirt bike running around with Lily. Just saw a minute
- 7:49Speaker 3: ago a Fecto Homes truck drive by with a huge,
- 7:54Speaker 3: huge trailer off the back of it. They are so
- 7:57Speaker 3: so busy right now. I'm going to post up a
- 8:01Speaker 3: picture that I just took this morning of them loading
- 8:06Speaker 3: up and heading out with yet another home for somebody
- 8:10Speaker 3: to get into. They've been doing this since the seventies,
- 8:14Speaker 3: a long long time, built by local families for local
- 8:18Speaker 3: families Fecto Homes. Visit them at three point fifty River
- 8:22Speaker 3: Street or fecto homes dot com to see some of
- 8:25Speaker 3: these gorgeous homes. And you've probably seen me in them
- 8:29Speaker 3: because I've been over there and I've seen the new construction,
- 8:33Speaker 3: I've seen the prefabs, I've seen the modular homes. I've
- 8:36Speaker 3: been inside. They are affordable, They're comfortable, they're well built,
- 8:42Speaker 3: well insulated too. Find your view with Fecto Homes. Also
- 8:46Speaker 3: shout out this morning to Jeru General Transport. July seventh
- 8:51Speaker 3: is fast approaching. We were just saying, what eleven days
- 8:55Speaker 3: to the fourth of July. If you want to see America,
- 8:58Speaker 3: if you want to get paid doing it, I'm telling
- 9:02Speaker 3: you right now. JERU General Transport is the place to explore.
- 9:08Speaker 3: It's the place to call this morning, right now, Tracy
- 9:11Speaker 3: two seven nine thirty three, twenty five, Tayler, we sent you, Teyler.
- 9:15Speaker 3: You're interested in getting your CDL. Yeah, it's coming real
- 9:21Speaker 3: fast July uh and the demand has never been higher too.
- 9:29Speaker 3: So if you want to be a local truck driver
- 9:32Speaker 3: or if you want to take that big rig and
- 9:34Speaker 3: head across the country and see it all. Either way,
- 9:37Speaker 3: get your CDL do it now, get your permit before
- 9:40Speaker 3: the class and get busy with JERU General Transport. It
- 9:45Speaker 3: was so much fun to get up there with with
- 9:46Speaker 3: Bill the other day and do a ride along and
- 9:51Speaker 3: get behind the wheel, which I didn't think was gonna
- 9:55Speaker 3: happen ever, and yes I was able to reach the
- 10:00Speaker 3: the pedals. Vermont and regional headlines. Probably one of the
- 10:04Speaker 3: biggest stories this morning. We have, of course, the Berkshire
- 10:09Speaker 3: shooting right there en route one eighteen with injuries that
- 10:15Speaker 3: happened over the weekend. We have what was the other
- 10:20Speaker 3: one at the eighteen year old who drowned at Bartlett Falls.
- 10:25Speaker 3: I've been swimming there myself, certainly in my opinion, not
- 10:33Speaker 3: anywhere near the most dangerous of swimming holes, but nonetheless
- 10:39Speaker 3: tragedy over the weekend and with this hot weather, I
- 10:42Speaker 3: mean more people are getting out and they're doing stuff.
- 10:44Speaker 3: They're swimming and they're cliff jumping. And I've done plenty
- 10:52Speaker 3: of it myself. Bristol, Warren Falls, Bolton Bowls, I've done,
- 10:57Speaker 3: Waterbury Reservoir. I've done a lot of them. Please please
- 11:02Speaker 3: be careful. We've had some rain, we've got current. It's
- 11:06Speaker 3: not always the greatest combination. But with that said, Warren
- 11:12Speaker 3: Falls one of my favorite places. It really is.
- 11:16Speaker 2: We have.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Mayor Mulvaney predicting a renaissance in the Queen City, big
- 11:29Speaker 3: city initiatives to tackle homelessness, the drug problem and housing,
- 11:37Speaker 3: and Mayor Mulvaney stantic in Burlington again in the news
- 11:46Speaker 3: saying that she is predicting a renaissance in the Queen City.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Huge changes are coming. We'll see, we'll see. I think
- 12:05Speaker 3: I may have heard this before. Hey, cooling shelters today
- 12:10Speaker 3: Montpellier City Hall. I think they're going to be doing
- 12:12Speaker 3: that from eight thirty until four point thirty. Also emergency
- 12:17Speaker 3: cooling shelters in Berry at the library and Northfield and
- 12:22Speaker 3: Plainfield among other towns. Today. If you need more information
- 12:27Speaker 3: on that, keep watching the page. We'll be posting stuff up.
- 12:31Speaker 3: But not surprised to hear that they're going to be
- 12:35Speaker 3: doing that for Mont's Day. Police, as most of you
- 12:39Speaker 3: are aware, have identified the body of the woman found
- 12:42Speaker 3: dead in Woodbury Friday, the body of thirty eight year
- 12:45Speaker 3: old Tina Daegl from Hardwick. She was found by officers
- 12:49Speaker 3: near a pull off on the side of Route fourteen
- 12:53Speaker 3: on Thursday afternoon and as of Friday night have have
- 13:01Speaker 3: I d'd her Please, have not yet confirmed the cause
- 13:05Speaker 3: of her death, nor have they identified any suspects, but
- 13:12Speaker 3: they ask you to call the Berlin Barracks IT two
- 13:14Speaker 3: Twinney one or submit in anonymous tip online VSPT Vermont
- 13:22Speaker 3: dot gov if he can. Yeah, And of course, just
- 13:30Speaker 3: like you, I am watching this story as carefully as possible,
- 13:35Speaker 3: and if I see or hear of anything that is
- 13:40Speaker 3: legitimate and not one that has not been sourced or
- 13:49Speaker 3: one that has been sourced, well I will pass it along.
- 13:53Speaker 3: But man, there's a lot of chatter on social media
- 13:56Speaker 3: about this, and none of it I think is is
- 13:59Speaker 3: really you and anybody any any favors so I will
- 14:04Speaker 3: keep watch and keep listening on that particular story. Diane
- 14:08Speaker 3: the students is with us from Rhythm of the Rain
- 14:11Speaker 3: Therapeutic Writing and Driving program at water Tower Farm. Good morning, Diane.
- 14:17Speaker 4: Hello there.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I'm so happy to have you on. You know, it's
- 14:20Speaker 3: been a while since I've had you in the studio
- 14:22Speaker 3: and I would love to have you back at some
- 14:24Speaker 3: point this summer.
- 14:24Speaker 4: If we can work that out, we will see what
- 14:27Speaker 4: we can do.
- 14:29Speaker 3: What's happening on Saturday. This is really quite a big
- 14:34Speaker 3: deal here.
- 14:36Speaker 4: It is we are hosting a premier of a movie
- 14:41Speaker 4: that is called Where Horses Heal the Soul. And just
- 14:45Speaker 4: a little history on this movie. It was produced in
- 14:49Speaker 4: Texas by a filmmaker named Twila bar and she did
- 14:54Speaker 4: predominantly used one of the big therapeutic writing centers out
- 14:58Speaker 4: there in Georgetown, tex It's called Rock, which is right
- 15:02Speaker 4: on center for Kids. She use them in a few
- 15:06Speaker 4: other programs in the area to make a documentary about
- 15:10Speaker 4: the benefits of equine assisted services, and they highlight four
- 15:14Speaker 4: different individuals to children and two military veterans who have
- 15:20Speaker 4: been involved in the program, and they basically kind of
- 15:24Speaker 4: tell their story. It's a very very interesting movie. I've
- 15:28Speaker 4: had a chance to preview it myself, so it's not
- 15:32Speaker 4: open to the general public yet. They're hoping to do
- 15:34Speaker 4: or release sometime in the fall. But what they have
- 15:37Speaker 4: done is offered this film out to therapeutic writing programs
- 15:41Speaker 4: around the country to help raise awareness for what therapeutic
- 15:46Speaker 4: horsemanship can do. And then also as an added bonus
- 15:50Speaker 4: that it helps us a fundraise that help us kind
- 15:52Speaker 4: of keep our programs going. So we're really excited to
- 15:56Speaker 4: have this. It's going to be at the Savoy Theater
- 16:00Speaker 4: in month pail here. It starts at one point thirty.
- 16:02Speaker 4: It's a ninety minute film, and we will have people
- 16:05Speaker 4: from the program there for question and answer either before
- 16:09Speaker 4: or after. So we're hoping for a wonderful turnout.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Wow, what a partnership with not only the Savoy Theater
- 16:17Speaker 3: but also this film, this production crew. This is really
- 16:21Speaker 3: something else.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, that's one of the nicest things about
- 16:27Speaker 4: our industry is that we are very cooperative with each other.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Everybody wants to see everybody succeed, so it's a great networking.
- 16:37Speaker 4: And this is not just a national organization. Actually the
- 16:42Speaker 4: premiere the Professional Association of Therapy to Corsemanship, which is
- 16:48Speaker 4: our national organization, is really international, their programs all over
- 16:52Speaker 4: the world.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Your mission over there on water Tower Farm is massive, Diane,
- 17:01Speaker 3: is what It's massive?
- 17:03Speaker 4: Oh? Magic? Okay?
- 17:04Speaker 3: What you do for people over there to foster healing
- 17:11Speaker 3: and pull the community together and get folks on the
- 17:16Speaker 3: back of a horse or even in the presence of
- 17:19Speaker 3: a horse who are going through experiencing some kind of
- 17:23Speaker 3: trauma and man, there are so many different experiences that
- 17:28Speaker 3: so many of us have had. How long have you
- 17:31Speaker 3: been doing this, Diane.
- 17:33Speaker 4: We've been doing this since basically two thousand and one,
- 17:39Speaker 4: and we started off primarily focusing on physical challenges that
- 17:43Speaker 4: people were dealing with, myself and the other instructor or
- 17:47Speaker 4: physical therapists, So we kind of started off on that
- 17:51Speaker 4: track because that was our area of expertise, and it
- 17:54Speaker 4: just expanded and grew over the years. One thing I'm
- 17:57Speaker 4: really excited about now is we have a couple of
- 18:00Speaker 4: people in our organization who are very enthusiastic about starting
- 18:05Speaker 4: a program to help people with addiction recovery and domestic
- 18:11Speaker 4: abuse survivors. So we're really excited and hopefully we can
- 18:15Speaker 4: get that rolled out.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Equine assisted therapies, and man, that river is running deeper
- 18:23Speaker 3: and deeper and deeper. As time goes on, we're learning
- 18:26Speaker 3: and experiencing more about this than ever before. I mean,
- 18:30Speaker 3: there's connections that that people have that humans have had
- 18:34Speaker 3: with animals for thousands and thousands of years. But I
- 18:38Speaker 3: mean we hear about it all the time. Dolphins, horses,
- 18:44Speaker 3: you know. I mean those are kind of the two
- 18:46Speaker 3: big ones. There's something about that connection, Diane, that we
- 18:49Speaker 3: haven't fully tapped into and fully understood.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Absolutely, and it's a very I'm trying to think of
- 18:59Speaker 4: the right word. I'm going to say, nebulous. It's hard
- 19:01Speaker 4: to put your hand on exactly what that connection is.
- 19:06Speaker 4: And there's actually quite a bit of research going on
- 19:09Speaker 4: to find out exactly what it is. A lot of
- 19:11Speaker 4: it has to do with heart rate, heart rhythms, electro
- 19:18Speaker 4: neetic fields around a living animal, human body, a lot
- 19:23Speaker 4: of connections that way. So someday they'll have probably some
- 19:28Speaker 4: documented reasons why it works. We just know and see
- 19:32Speaker 4: that it does. And I think especially in society as general, now,
- 19:38Speaker 4: so many people have moved away from that connection with
- 19:43Speaker 4: animals and nature, forests and actual ground versus concrete and
- 19:51Speaker 4: I think we physiologically lose a lot because of that absence.
- 19:55Speaker 4: So the horses help bring that back.
- 19:59Speaker 3: And you know what, it's amazing. It's such a large
- 20:03Speaker 3: animal that, let's be frank here, can be intimidating for
- 20:08Speaker 3: many of us, especially young children. But there's something that
- 20:14Speaker 3: transforms within us. And we're not really, like you say,
- 20:17Speaker 3: we're not really sure exactly what that is. But you're
- 20:21Speaker 3: doing amazing work over there, Diane, and you have been
- 20:24Speaker 3: for a long time. You have a staff that does this.
- 20:27Speaker 3: It's not just you.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, definitely, it's a team effort. We have many,
- 20:33Speaker 4: many volunteers. We always love having volunteers. They add so
- 20:36Speaker 4: much to the program. Our volunteers always say that they
- 20:39Speaker 4: get more out of being there and participating than they
- 20:42Speaker 4: feel that they're giving. And that's just constantly we always
- 20:47Speaker 4: hear it. I want to make one little just update
- 20:50Speaker 4: on terminology. We no longer are water Tower Farm because
- 20:56Speaker 4: we sold the property to new owners back in twenty
- 21:01Speaker 4: twenty three, so it is now actually Threefold Farm shown
- 21:05Speaker 4: by Margo Killern and David Southwick. But they are letting
- 21:09Speaker 4: the program continue there and I know that's been confusing
- 21:12Speaker 4: for a lot of people. They said, well, the sign's gone,
- 21:15Speaker 4: and are you there anymore? Are you doing anything? Like, Yes,
- 21:19Speaker 4: we are there. It's just that it's a new sign
- 21:21Speaker 4: up front. It's no longer water Tower Farmer's Threefold Farm.
- 21:24Speaker 4: But we are still Rhythm of the Rain and we
- 21:26Speaker 4: are still working there.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Wow, Diane again one more time the Savoy Theater this
- 21:34Speaker 3: Saturday at one point thirty. It is a special showing
- 21:39Speaker 3: of this incredible documentary that hasn't even been released to
- 21:43Speaker 3: the public yet called Where the Horses Heal The Soul.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Soul Yeap And you can buy tickets in advance or
- 21:52Speaker 4: at the door. Tickets are twenty dollars apiece, and you
- 21:57Speaker 4: can look on our Facebook page to our website Rhythmoftharin
- 22:01Speaker 4: dot org buy tickets through there. If you are not
- 22:06Speaker 4: able to attend but you would like to support what
- 22:10Speaker 4: we do, there is another link that you can click
- 22:12Speaker 4: just to make a donation for so we will put
- 22:15Speaker 4: that out there because you know, obviously not everybody can
- 22:17Speaker 4: make it.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Yeah, this is this is fantastic. You know, we got
- 22:21Speaker 3: a lot of horse lovers in Vermont and New England,
- 22:26Speaker 3: so I'm hoping there's going to be a great turnout
- 22:29Speaker 3: for you on Saturday. Again, your your your ticket. Look
- 22:33Speaker 3: at it as a donation to Rhythm Rhythm of the
- 22:38Speaker 3: Rain Therapeutic Riding and Driving program. Wow. Yes, that's great stuff, Diane.
- 22:44Speaker 3: I'm so glad that the Savoy theaters doing this with you,
- 22:47Speaker 3: and I'm I'm so so glad that where the horses
- 22:50Speaker 3: here Heal the Soul has connected in with you and
- 22:54Speaker 3: they're doing this. It's fantastic.
- 22:57Speaker 4: This is great and we really are appreciative of the
- 22:59Speaker 4: Savoy They've it's been wonderful folks to work with. Yeah,
- 23:02Speaker 4: we're really excited about it.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Absolutely. We will keep plugging it away this week and
- 23:09Speaker 3: hopefully you'll have a great turnout on Saturday. Thanks Diane,
- 23:12Speaker 3: thank you, have a great day. You're very welcome the
- 23:16Speaker 3: Aired Out podcast this morning. If you're just joining us,
- 23:20Speaker 3: thank you so much for tuning in. A great pleasure
- 23:23Speaker 3: to chat with Diane. She's been in the studio in
- 23:26Speaker 3: the past. Hope to have her back. But yeah, it
- 23:29Speaker 3: is a Monday morning. It is the twenty third already
- 23:34Speaker 3: of June, and if you missed it, this morning is
- 23:38Speaker 3: going to be a real, real hot one today. New
- 23:41Speaker 3: York has already declared a state of emergency for heat
- 23:45Speaker 3: indexes up around one hundred and ten degrees air temp
- 23:52Speaker 3: ninety five, But of course you combine the humidity with that.
- 23:56Speaker 3: It is a great day. As I let off this morning, Creamy.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Also a great day for the sprinkler or river or
- 24:04Speaker 3: brook or maybe Boulder Beach. I don't know where you're
- 24:08Speaker 3: going to be staying cool today, but hopefully you'll stay
- 24:11Speaker 3: well hydrated again. I know there are some emergency cooling
- 24:16Speaker 3: shelters in and around central Vermont, Northfield, Plainfield, here in Berry.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I believe at the library in Montpillier at City Hall
- 24:27Speaker 3: from eight thirty until four thirty, so pretty much all day.
- 24:31Speaker 3: It's a nine to twenty seven. This handsome guy sitting
- 24:33Speaker 3: right next to me, Garrett Cicily. What the hell's going on? Buddy?
- 24:37Speaker 3: How are you?
- 24:38Speaker 2: I'm doing good, buddy, how are you?
- 24:39Speaker 3: It's great to see you, man. Let's talk about what
- 24:42Speaker 3: you're up to. Every spring, I think of you when
- 24:46Speaker 3: I get my fishing pole out of the out of
- 24:51Speaker 3: the barn. I keep it up in the rafters and
- 24:53Speaker 3: I always thank you. I got to find the net,
- 24:56Speaker 3: I got to find the pole, I got to find
- 24:58Speaker 3: the tackle. Box. I got to open up the tack
- 25:00Speaker 3: a box, look inside, figure out what the hell is
- 25:02Speaker 3: what what am I doing? And I always think of you, man,
- 25:07Speaker 3: I know that you love fishing, right next to how
- 25:12Speaker 3: much you love your kids?
- 25:15Speaker 2: Is that is that? Oh it's a fair it's a
- 25:18Speaker 2: fair comparison.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a fair comparison, very close.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 3: So have you you've you've been out, You've been fishing,
- 25:27Speaker 3: You've you've had some some great experiences already.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we've We've had a couple smaller tournaments
- 25:33Speaker 2: so far this year, taking second place. Coincidentally enough, in
- 25:36Speaker 2: both of those. Did one with a buddy of mine
- 25:39Speaker 2: last weekend, caught twenty one and a half pounds a
- 25:42Speaker 2: small mouth for five fish and lost. That's the first
- 25:44Speaker 2: time that's ever happened. But uh now, we had one
- 25:50Speaker 2: yesterday on a southern Champlain at a larabies almost fifteen
- 25:55Speaker 2: pounds for five fish. We had to grind for them.
- 25:57Speaker 2: But you know, sometimes as the way it goes. But
- 26:01Speaker 2: it's you know, second place finishes. I mean, can't argue
- 26:03Speaker 2: with it.
- 26:03Speaker 3: How long were you out in the water for that?
- 26:05Speaker 2: Eight hours?
- 26:06Speaker 3: Okay? Wow? And you you put them all back?
- 26:10Speaker 2: Yep?
- 26:10Speaker 3: You let them all go, oh yeah, wow, So what's happening.
- 26:17Speaker 3: What's this mlf UH tournament with Toyota, Right, yeah, it's.
- 26:23Speaker 2: A it's the it's a specific series like mlf as
- 26:28Speaker 2: a whole, has different like leagues you would call it.
- 26:33Speaker 2: They do. They have the one day tournaments, which is
- 26:35Speaker 2: the Phoenix Boats bfls. They have divisions all over the
- 26:39Speaker 2: United States. We compete up here in the Northeast division
- 26:43Speaker 2: for those, and those are just one day weekend tournaments
- 26:45Speaker 2: or some on there's one on Oneida, there's one on
- 26:48Speaker 2: the Saint Lawrence, like Champlaine, you know around you know,
- 26:53Speaker 2: New England and and so on and so forth. But
- 26:56Speaker 2: the Toyota Series events, those are this is the first
- 27:00Speaker 2: event of three tournaments in that in that field for
- 27:07Speaker 2: that division. If you I want to say, it's like
- 27:12Speaker 2: the top twenty five. If you come in the top
- 27:14Speaker 2: twenty five on the Bot side and or co English side,
- 27:17Speaker 2: you you get a chance to compete at the Toyota Championship,
- 27:21Speaker 2: which is I can't actually I don't even think I've
- 27:26Speaker 2: looked at where it is this year. I haven't really,
- 27:28Speaker 2: you know, I'm just focused on this. I want to
- 27:32Speaker 2: do good. And just see how we stack up.
- 27:35Speaker 3: And you've been on the Potomac River as well, right
- 27:40Speaker 3: in twenty twenty three. Yeah, how'd that go?
- 27:43Speaker 2: It was a lot of fun. Yeah, it was a
- 27:46Speaker 2: lot of fun. Yeah it was. That was the last
- 27:49Speaker 2: year of the old bascination format. Was able to win
- 27:54Speaker 2: there and that's how I was able to get to
- 27:56Speaker 2: Nationals in twenty twenty three. Yeah, that was. It was
- 28:00Speaker 2: a fun place. I would absolutely go back.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Now you went in prize money here? Yeah, what are
- 28:08Speaker 3: we talking?
- 28:10Speaker 2: Uh? So last year when I when I took third
- 28:15Speaker 2: place at the Saint Lawrence during one of the BF
- 28:18Speaker 2: during one of the bfls, I want to say. I
- 28:23Speaker 2: want to say, it was like a thousand bucks. That's
- 28:27Speaker 2: really cool, Yeah, something like that. Are you are you
- 28:31Speaker 2: saving for that? For that bass boat? I mean we
- 28:34Speaker 2: talked about this what two years ago? I think, Yeah,
- 28:38Speaker 2: I mean everything, you know, YEA. One thing I have
- 28:44Speaker 2: realized is everything's got to fall into has got to
- 28:47Speaker 2: fall into place. All those cards haven't gotten gotten there yet.
- 28:51Speaker 2: But I mean I watch a lot of fishing. I
- 28:53Speaker 2: do a lot of fishing. But it's like when it's
- 28:56Speaker 2: your time, it's your time, everything will fall into place,
- 29:00Speaker 2: and that's one of the things that I've learned. And
- 29:03Speaker 2: hopefully this week. You know, First Place First Place Pie
- 29:07Speaker 2: is a brand new boat, but I'm not focused on that.
- 29:10Speaker 3: When will you be out on the water exactly.
- 29:14Speaker 2: This afternoon? My buddy, uh, and my buddy's got to
- 29:19Speaker 2: work this morning. He's making his way over from New
- 29:21Speaker 2: Hampshire and I'm going to meet him and we're gonna
- 29:23Speaker 2: fish this afternoon and all day on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Safe to say that you are and please don't pardon
- 29:30Speaker 3: the pun, here hooked on fishing.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Man.
- 29:36Speaker 3: You are a serious diehard here that you live it,
- 29:39Speaker 3: you breathe there.
- 29:40Speaker 2: It's just the thought of, you know, what could happen,
- 29:46Speaker 2: what could be on the end of your end of
- 29:48Speaker 2: your line the next time you cast out or anything
- 29:52Speaker 2: like that is just that's that's what keeps you going right,
- 29:58Speaker 2: you know.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Uh, you know my my recent story because I called
- 30:02Speaker 3: you and I literally I understand that there's it's what
- 30:11Speaker 3: is it like when a hunter ah gets buck fever?
- 30:16Speaker 3: I mean, oh yeah, there's something that that happens in
- 30:20Speaker 3: us where I don't know, it's like an eye twitch
- 30:23Speaker 3: or something. Man, It's like when I had that monster
- 30:26Speaker 3: fish on the on the end of my line and
- 30:30Speaker 3: then lost it.
- 30:33Speaker 2: You probably wanted to cry, didn't you.
- 30:34Speaker 3: I I did cry. I did. Have you ever cried
- 30:42Speaker 3: when you've lost a fish?
- 30:43Speaker 2: Come on, now, just be honest, not entirely all right,
- 30:51Speaker 2: I will say there has been more instances than not
- 30:55Speaker 2: where my head hits the bottom of the boat and
- 30:59Speaker 2: I just stay there for a minute. There's there's been
- 31:03Speaker 2: instances like that, for sure.
- 31:05Speaker 3: I was beyond stunned. I mean, you go from pure
- 31:13Speaker 3: euphoria to devastation in half a second.
- 31:17Speaker 2: And that's you know, that's what It's the risk you take. Well,
- 31:21Speaker 2: it's the risk you take, but it's also the adrenaline
- 31:24Speaker 2: and everything else that comes comes with it, yeah, I mean,
- 31:28Speaker 2: and excitement exactly. Yeah, that's why it. You know, it
- 31:32Speaker 2: keeps people motivated and just the drive.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Not only did I I have it, but it showed
- 31:41Speaker 3: itself by jumping out of the water. And I was
- 31:45Speaker 3: stunned at how huge this fish was. And I, you know,
- 31:50Speaker 3: I had some fun talking about it on the air
- 31:52Speaker 3: that it was this big, but it really was. It
- 31:54Speaker 3: was this big. And you said, and I called you,
- 31:58Speaker 3: and I was like, oh my god, and you said
- 32:01Speaker 3: that it is very possible in some of our smaller
- 32:07Speaker 3: landlocked lakes in Vermont, it's very possible to get boards
- 32:12Speaker 3: from around ten pounds.
- 32:13Speaker 2: And it's entirely possible. Yes, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 32:21Speaker 3: And I had six pound tests I did not perform
- 32:26Speaker 3: for me.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Okay, wow. I got one day of practicing on Saturday
- 32:34Speaker 2: with my buddy up on up on Champlain and he
- 32:37Speaker 2: was fighting. He was fighting a small mouth and I
- 32:39Speaker 2: was like, he's like, I gotta be gentle with it.
- 32:42Speaker 2: It's five pound test. I'm like, holy cow. I mean
- 32:46Speaker 2: some people will use four pound tests on small mouth.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Like the lowest I've ever gone is sex. But it's
- 32:55Speaker 2: like your drag has to be set. And you were
- 33:00Speaker 2: he gotta you really gotta play him. They I mean,
- 33:03Speaker 2: you just gotta tire him out. Yeah, it can be done.
- 33:07Speaker 3: And I think that was part of the problem was
- 33:11Speaker 3: that I was rushing.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Oh as soon as you know, as soon as you
- 33:16Speaker 2: see that thing jump, your heart's going it's just feels
- 33:19Speaker 2: like it's gonna come out of your chest. But the key, yeah, absolutely,
- 33:23Speaker 2: the key is just exactly you gotta lower, you know,
- 33:28Speaker 2: keep your heart rate low and and everything like that.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I mean I took aight and out last weekend and
- 33:34Speaker 2: he caught his He caught his new PB kids nine
- 33:38Speaker 2: years old, and he's got a five pounder to his name.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Wow, you must have been thrilled.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I he broke him off the first time, broke him off.
- 33:50Speaker 2: I tied it back on and he threw back. He
- 33:53Speaker 2: threw back in there. And then when he actually landed
- 33:56Speaker 2: that fish, He's like, Dad, get that thing in the boat,
- 33:58Speaker 2: Get in the boat.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 2: I curled it. I curled it in my arm like this.
- 34:02Speaker 3: I'm like, dude, Wow.
- 34:07Speaker 2: And that's yeah, that was that was his response. But
- 34:11Speaker 2: he put in the work for.
- 34:12Speaker 3: That, chaplain or can you not tell us?
- 34:15Speaker 2: It was in about a two hour radius of Arier.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Wow.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Man, it's it's you. You really embody the the the
- 34:31Speaker 3: experience of fishing. This is such a passion for you.
- 34:38Speaker 2: It's a very it's super addicting.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Sure. When did this all start for Garrett.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Sicily like right after COVID, Like when I really fully
- 34:53Speaker 2: started like thinking that I could compete and do this.
- 35:00Speaker 2: I've been fishing my entire my entire life. But and
- 35:04Speaker 2: I've caught a lot of bass in high school, in
- 35:07Speaker 2: my first, you know, five six years out of high
- 35:09Speaker 2: school and so on and so forth. But it wasn't
- 35:11Speaker 2: until you know, I started doing it more. It started
- 35:15Speaker 2: fishing with Chris Martin Moore, going out with him, and
- 35:18Speaker 2: you know, thinking to myself, you know, if I know
- 35:21Speaker 2: the northern half of the lake and Chris wants me
- 35:24Speaker 2: to join the join the Champlain Valley Bass Club, It's
- 35:29Speaker 2: like I can learn and do all and do all
- 35:34Speaker 2: this like and if I just put in the time
- 35:35Speaker 2: and put in you know, put in the work for it.
- 35:38Speaker 2: I mean, everything's you know, it's something that I want
- 35:42Speaker 2: to do. You just have to have the mentality. The
- 35:45Speaker 2: biggest thing is you have to have that mentality that
- 35:49Speaker 2: I don't give a shit who's out there with me.
- 35:53Speaker 2: I am as good as any one of these guys.
- 35:57Speaker 2: You have to have that mentality. If you don't, you're
- 36:00Speaker 2: already losing.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow, well said.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Wow.
- 36:04Speaker 3: So but you've you've loved the sport of fishing since
- 36:09Speaker 3: you're young kid.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean every kid you know that aspires to
- 36:17Speaker 2: to want to do this. I mean every every kid
- 36:19Speaker 2: grew up watching Roland Martin Bill Dance. I mean Saturday
- 36:23Speaker 2: mornings watching Bill Dance, outdoors Like that's you know, that's
- 36:27Speaker 2: how you start out doing it, and then you're you know,
- 36:31Speaker 2: you're going places and then you're watching YouTube videos on
- 36:34Speaker 2: all these guys and you meet these guys like I can.
- 36:40Speaker 2: It's really awesome to say that the people that I
- 36:44Speaker 2: have met since I have started doing this, you know,
- 36:48Speaker 2: I've got three really good buddies that fish the bast
- 36:51Speaker 2: Master Elite series. I mean I could call them, you
- 36:54Speaker 2: know and just ask them anything anytime, like ever, did
- 37:00Speaker 2: I think that would be.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Possible?
- 37:04Speaker 2: Possible? Yeah, And it's like the wealth of knowledge and
- 37:08Speaker 2: everything else. It's just like the friendships that I have
- 37:11Speaker 2: made is is incredible.
- 37:14Speaker 3: When you when you get out to your spot and
- 37:20Speaker 3: you'll put up the tackle box. Do you have a
- 37:23Speaker 3: favorite lure? What are you reaching for? First? Must have
- 37:27Speaker 3: your your go to man.
- 37:33Speaker 2: It's it's so hard to say because it's a it
- 37:36Speaker 2: is a broad a broad spectrum, but.
- 37:39Speaker 3: It depends on a few things.
- 37:42Speaker 2: It depends on the well where you are, timing, year
- 37:46Speaker 2: of the water, temp like all of that. Like this
- 37:50Speaker 2: time of year, if there's no wind, I absolutely love
- 37:53Speaker 2: throwing a top water. Everybody loves throw on the top water.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Now it's top top or it can it be just
- 38:02Speaker 3: under the surface, top top top top top to right.
- 38:05Speaker 3: I thought that was and that's what I landed, that
- 38:08Speaker 3: huge monster one. And it was three o'clock in the afternoon.
- 38:13Speaker 3: But traditionally aren't aren't top water is supposed to be
- 38:16Speaker 3: uh dark or sunset.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Or sometimes sometimes I've had days on Champlaine. We're catching
- 38:25Speaker 2: him at noon on top water. It's interesting, it's a
- 38:29Speaker 2: lot of fun. But you're a worm guy too, You're
- 38:33Speaker 2: you're a fake worm guy. I mean, I love throwing
- 38:36Speaker 2: a drop I love throwing a drop shot. I feel
- 38:39Speaker 2: very comfortable doing it. I mean it's just a small
- 38:43Speaker 2: cylinder style weight and your hook is above it with
- 38:47Speaker 2: like a mental style minto style bait above it. I
- 38:50Speaker 2: mean you can you can drag it and throw it
- 38:53Speaker 2: up the little.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Ball with the with the eye on the side of it,
- 38:56Speaker 3: right correct, Okay, all right.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Yeah, but that I mean, the whole reason I got
- 39:04Speaker 2: into this and wanted to learn is to become versatile,
- 39:08Speaker 2: because you have to be sure, you have to be
- 39:11Speaker 2: so it's like I can I feel very comfortable in
- 39:16Speaker 2: what I know and what I can do to be
- 39:18Speaker 2: successful in a in a tournament, Like, I feel confident
- 39:21Speaker 2: with every bait that I can that I tie on.
- 39:24Speaker 3: How many fishing poles do you have? Cans? Like fifteen
- 39:31Speaker 3: fifteen something like that. Wow, but wow, that's something man.
- 39:40Speaker 2: It's just it's just a lot of fun and you know,
- 39:43Speaker 2: you just you want to see how you stack up.
- 39:46Speaker 2: That's why you do these do these tournaments and and
- 39:50Speaker 2: so on and so forth.
- 39:51Speaker 3: So how long are the MLF Northern Toyota Series events
- 39:56Speaker 3: on Champlain going for?
- 39:58Speaker 2: There are three day tournaments. The qualifying days are Thursday
- 40:03Speaker 2: and Friday. You have to qualify this week, correct, Okay? Yeah,
- 40:08Speaker 2: The qualifying days are Thursday and Friday. You have to
- 40:11Speaker 2: be in the top twenty five by the end of
- 40:15Speaker 2: the day on Friday at the fish on.
- 40:16Speaker 3: For overall poundage.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Yeah okay, yeah, overall Wait, yeah, you got to be
- 40:22Speaker 2: in the top twenty five on each side on the
- 40:24Speaker 2: boater and the co English side to be able to
- 40:27Speaker 2: fish on Saturday.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Okay, Saturday is the start of it. No, Thursday is
- 40:33Speaker 3: the start I mean for the actual tournament, yeah, Thursday? Okay, yeah?
- 40:38Speaker 2: All right, yeah, but you're I mean, your whole goal
- 40:43Speaker 2: is to you know, qualify to fish the final day.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Everybody is going to fish Thursday and Friday. But whoever
- 40:50Speaker 2: fishes Saturday, is you know, gonna have a chance to win,
- 40:55Speaker 2: gonna have you know, a good chance to cash a
- 40:57Speaker 2: good check.
- 40:58Speaker 3: So and and then Saturday. That's it on Champlain. Correct,
- 41:05Speaker 3: Where where will things be staged? Is the public? Plattsburgh
- 41:10Speaker 3: is public invited to go over and see.
- 41:12Speaker 2: This Plattsburgh City in Plattsburgh City, Marina.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Wow, are you? Are you dumb question here? But are
- 41:25Speaker 3: you sleeping all right? Or you just worked up about this?
- 41:28Speaker 2: I'm I'm I'm scared, I'm nervous, and I'm beyond excited.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Like it's I just want to I just want to
- 41:41Speaker 2: have a good have a good tournament. Like Champlain and
- 41:44Speaker 2: I we have a very love hate relationship.
- 41:46Speaker 3: But yeah, well I'm sure many do uh tell me
