Bald eagle Jackie, the beloved star of Big Bear’s live nest cam, has died after a valiant but ultimately unsuccessful battle for recovery. Rescued in July after a fierce tussle with younger eagles left her unable to fly, she received intensive care at the Ojai Raptor Center — including oxygen therapy and round-the-clock monitoring — for over three weeks. Despite global support and heartfelt wishes for her return to mate Shadow, her condition declined.
