Schomburg: The Puerto Rican Who Helped Build Black History
Host David explores Black History Month through the life of Arturo Alfonso Schomburg, a Puerto Rican-born scholar whose collection helped shape the study of African diaspora history in Harlem. The episode connects Schomburg’s work to Carter G. Woodson’s legacy and reflects on the deep ties between Black and Puerto Rican communities.
Along the way David ties the conversation to recent cultural moments like the Super Bowl halftime attention and urges listeners to learn and preserve history.
