- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Well, hello guys, and welcome back to another episode of the podcast.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: I thought this week it would be really fun to kind of round up my favorite health hacks for 2021, things that I did in 2020 that was a game changer.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Um, similar but different to the episode I did on how to make 2021 your best year yet.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: So if you haven't gone back and listened to that one, or if you haven't listened yet, make sure you go ahead and do that.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Um these are a lot more like more health focused.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Um, and there's honestly, there's sharing all my game-changing health hacks.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: But before we jump in, I did want to mention that if you have not enrolled yet in well-nourished and you know you need to be in, now is the time.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Guys, in order to heal your body, you need to do the nutrition, but you also need to do the emotional work.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: That's why when people come to me and they're like, I've done this diet, this, that reset, this cleanse, and nothing has ever worked.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: I am like, yeah, because you didn't do the deep emotional work.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: You didn't do the emotions that are stored in your body, you didn't do the trauma release, you didn't do all that.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And that's what you need to do because emotions are stored in our body.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Emotions have physical manifestations.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Things like acne, eczema, psoriasis, bloating, hormonal imbalances, all of this is actually linked to emotions being stored in your body.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Of course, you need the nutrition to, we can't be eating McDonald's and hoping everything to be okay, but that's why we do both in Wellnourished.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: So check out the link in the show notes.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Get into Wellnourished if you really want to honestly just have the best health of your life in 2021.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: If you want to upgrade, up-level your health, it is time to do so.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: And that is what Well Nourished is for, right?
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: If you think about like the price tag you would put on your health, the price tag of having, you know, that dream body, that dream health that you want.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Plus, you're not stressed around food, you eat delicious, satisfying meals, and you honestly love yourself and your body so that you feel sexy, you feel like a goddess, you feel amazing.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: You can decide right now that that's the version of you you want to be.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: How much time would you spend wishing, sitting, hoping, praying to look and feel a different way?

- 2:12SPEAKER_00: You can choose that dream health that you want and get it into well-nourished.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: It really starts with you.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: So, with that being said, let's go ahead and jump into the episode.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Live Well Podcast.

- 2:40SPEAKER_00: If you are looking to live well, you are in the right place.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: A new episode starts now.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Alright, guys, so like you heard in the intro, this episode is going to be all about my current favorite health hacks for 2021.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: These are the game changers, the ride or dies.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: I wrote down all of my favorites, things that I've some I've used for years, some I really like used in 2020 and was a game changer.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: So I am sharing all of those today.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: I currently have a sleepy puppy by my feet.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: If you guys listened to the first episode of the year, she was not behaving.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: We're hoping that she behaves and also has no accidents during this episode.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: So we will see.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: So my first favorite health hack for 2021, and guys, I'm gonna explain how they're all related to health, if even though you think they're not, is sleeping naked, guys.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Sleeping naked is so good for your health, and honestly, something that changed my life in 2020.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: If you are not sleeping naked, you have to start.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Start tonight.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: And I know what you're thinking.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: I was one of those people, too, who was like, no, like I need to sleep in pajamas, I feel better in pajamas.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: No, no, you don't.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: It just takes a few days.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Trust me.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Start sleeping naked.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Not only is it really good for balancing your hormones, balancing stress, but it's also really good for starting to become more comfortable in your body and in your skin.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: So it's honestly one of the easiest things that you can do in terms of starting to not only feel better in your body and better in your skin and loving yourself more, but also for just supporting the naturals, like your body's natural processes, right?
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: I know it's gonna feel uncomfortable the first few days.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: You're gonna feel kind of like bare and exposed, but now I love it.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Um, with puppy, I had to take her out like every few hours at night, and I actually will like put clothes, like take clothes off, put clothes on every single time because it just feels so much better to be, you know, in the sheets, all kind of like naked like.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: The next thing is going along with just being naked more, guys.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Love 2021.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Let's make 2021 the year of being naked more.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: We are sleeping naked, but now we are also going to be dancing naked.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: If you are a client of mine, or if you've listened to the self-love podcast uh episode, dancing naked is huge.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: You guys need to start, or at least in your underwear, start dancing naked or in your underwear again.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: This comes back to body confidence, body love.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: When we love our bodies, we feel better in our bodies, we feel healthier, it decreases stress, it releases oxytocin, it releases feel-good hormones.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: We want to be doing all these things.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Dancing naked also allows you to get back into your body.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: So a lot of the time, you know, with the stress that's going on, with everything that's going on in the world, we actually leave our bodies.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: We are not in our bodies, we are not sitting in our bodies.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: So, by dancing naked, it really allows you to get back into your body, connect with yourself, lower stress, feels good.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Honestly, even if you start with like one or two songs after the shower in the morning, or I mean, I like to do it at night because it's something like a vibe at night when I put my Himalayan salt lamp on and I get undressed for the day and I'm just like hanging around, it will make a game changer in how you feel in your body.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: And remember, you cannot heal a body you hate.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: So whether you have PMS, endometriosis, eczema, psoriasis, gut health issues, you know, SIBO, whatever it is, guys, that you have, you need to love your body first and love your body self if you wanted to heal.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: So you need to start sleeping naked, dancing naked, being naked, if it wasn't clear yet, naked, naked, naked.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Okay, next up is ginger shots.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: So you guys have seen me do ginger shots a lot in 2020.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: I even have my own GIF that is themed for me.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Um, all about my ginger shots, and it's such an inexpensive way to do something for your health.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: It takes less than 60 seconds.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: I take some organic ginger root, make sure to get organic because you don't want to like be blending pesticides into your ginger shots.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: I blend that up with a little bit of water in a blender, I squeeze it through a nut milk bag.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Nut milk bags are like$10 on Amazon.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, you could also do it through a strainer or paper towel.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Um, the paper towel will just absorb a lot of the liquid, so you'll end up losing a lot of it.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Strain through a nut milk bag and then pour it into your shot glasses.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: It's so low cost, it takes like maybe like less than a dollar for the ginger root that you would need for a full week of shots, and there you have it.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Ginger shots are really good for inflammation, for immunity, for digestion.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: They're also really warming, and you really want to have warming things in your body in the winter.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: This is really good with keeping your vital life force kind of flowing.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: If you find that you are low energy or your digestion is off, chances are you need more warmth in your body, like literally more warming things.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: And so ginger being fiery and being very spicy adds that warmth to your body, really helps to stimulate, you know, to your digestion, but also for immunity, it has really good antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antiviral properties, and it's also good for inflammation.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: And inflammation is killer, guys.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: And remember, there are so many conditions that are tied back to inflammation.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Acne is inflammation, eczema is inflammation, psoriasis is inflammation, for gut health is inflammation, anxiety is inflammation, depression is inflammation, joint pain is inflammation, PMS is inflammation, all of it comes back to inflammation, ginger shots, really low cost, really great little health act that you can do.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Takes less than 60 seconds, and you have them for the week.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: So, and the next tip is meditation.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: And I say this again, and I know I say it a lot, but that's because there are still some of you out there who are not meditating every single day.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: I know, because I still have clients come to me who aren't meditating every single day when they first come to me.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Guys, meditation is a game changer, it lowers stress, it makes you more resilient to fighting off infections and viruses, so it boosts your immunity, it makes you a happier person, it makes you grateful, and it's free to do.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: So, guys, please start meditating.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Um honestly, I do it silent, but if you need to, I do have some guided meditations that you can use to help you get like kind of like in the habit and then go from there.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: Um, but I really recommend silent meditation if you really want like all of the benefits and I focus on the crown.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Um, but meditation is going to be huge.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Start with five to ten minutes a day, then work your way up to the 15 and then to 30 minutes.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Um, a little hack for you is that it is best to do meditation either right before bed or first thing when you wake up.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: And that is because this is the time where your theta brain waves are more active.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: So in the middle of the day, when you're at work, when you're doing things, you are in an alpha brainwave state.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: But when you are winding down for bed or first thing in the morning, your brain is in a theta state.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: And this theta state is actually more susceptible to kind of like reprogramming and more susceptible to all that other kind of stuff in terms of like gratitude, happiness, and all that.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: So highly recommend um also when you are meditating to do it first thing in the morning andor um in the evening.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: I like to do it as I'm falling asleep and then also first thing in the morning, so I do kind of like a double whammy um and all of that.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: So if you're not meditating, I also have a meditation challenge that teaches you in 21 days how to meditate.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: So get into that.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: It's free.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Also, if you need help meditating, but guys, meditate, meditate, meditate, meditate, meditate.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: If that wasn't clear yet.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, the next thing self-pleasure.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Yes, self-pleasure is a health hack for 2021.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Guys, if you are not engaging in self-pleasure, you need to start.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: I have so many, I have clients come to me who say that, you know, oh, they're not having sex because they don't have a partner.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: And I was like, okay, but you don't need a partner in order to have like pleasure, orgasms, et cetera.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, so let's just talk about the fact that orgasms are good for your health.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: They actually upregulate your CD4 T receptor cells, which helps you fight off infections, viruses, etc.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: It also releases feel-good hormones, so like oxytocin and all of those things that make you glow.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but also relieves stress and relieves tension.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: So if you find that you are anxious, frustrated, kind of like on edge and irritable, go engage in self-pleasure, have an orgasm.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: You will find that you feel so much better afterwards.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Self-pleasure is also a form of self-love, right?
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: And we need to remember that we don't need someone else to give ourselves love.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: We give ourselves love first.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: So self-pleasure is a great way to do that.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: So if you're not engaging in self-pleasure, 100% start.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: It's really good for your health, immunity, for fighting off infections.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: It's good, it's honestly good for your gut health as well, because you store so much energy in your gut that when you actually engage in self-pleasure and you have that like literally energetic release, right?
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: Because an orgasm is a release, it's a release of energy that's been built up.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: When you have that, you're gonna be less stressed, you're gonna feel better.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: Sorry, I'm just removing her from chewing my stool.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Um, you're gonna feel better in your body, you're also gonna be more confident in your body, you're gonna love your body more, you're gonna feel better.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: When we're confident in our body, we wanna make better health choices.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: When we're more confident, we can heal our body because we can't heal a body we hate.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: So, as you can see, self-pleasure is really good just for your health.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Next up along the pleasure lines is eating for pleasure.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: So, this is such a great health hack.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Um I find that I feel better when everyone, not just me, but people feel better when we're eating foods that we love, right?
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: So in 2020, I really practiced what feels good to eat today, and really eating foods that like I'm craving, but from like a nourishing, healthy standpoint.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: So, like when I'm planning my meals or I'm thinking about meals to make, like, for example, this week, I really wanted like spaghetti, like spaghetti squash and meatballs.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Like get some really good quality grass-fed meat, make some meatballs with some spaghetti squash, some dairy-free parm cheese from VL Life Foods, which is by far my favorite.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: And guys, like I savored it, and it's not like it's more about mindfully eating for pleasure versus just like eating it while I'm working or eating it how you know I'm watching TV.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'm not like as mindful when I'm eating or I'm responding to emails.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: I made this delicious meal and like I savored the deliciousness of it.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: I took my time to enjoy the texture, how it tastes, and really eat slowly and enjoy the meal versus like going through it just to get in my body and not concentrating.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: And the reason that this is so important is that when we are eating and doing other things, so if we are eating and responding to emails or eating and you know, focused on work, your body is in the sympathetic state, right?
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: It's in the fight or flight, it is in the stressed out state because it's not focused on rest and digest.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: When you are more mindful, when you're eating for pleasure and you're tapped into how this food tastes, feels, smells, etc., you're in that state of parasympathetic, which will actually allow you to digest your food better.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: So eat for pleasure.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: The next one for health hacks is emotional health.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: So for emotional health hack, you need to start being aware of your emotions.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: The first step is awareness.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: So the hack is learning how to tap into your emotions, but also what emotions are you feeling right now that might need to be released?
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Are you feeling sad?
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: Are you feeling frustrated?
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Are you feeling angry?
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: And learning how to actually release these emotions because you can take all the supplements in the world, but that will not outdo it if you are not dealing with your emotional health.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Hence why we do the emotional healing work in the live calls of well-nourished.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: So you need to be getting those out.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: So, first of all, identify what is the emotion that you're feeling, and B, how are you going to release this?
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: So, whether you know you are doing this through me or through someone else, you have to release these emotions.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: But the first hack is just becoming aware of the emotions that you're storing in your body and not pushing them down.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: So many people push down their emotions.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: They push down anxiety, sadness, grief, anger, frustration.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: But all that does is harbor in physical symptoms.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: This can come out in your skin, this can look like acne, eczema, psoriasis, this can come out in your gut, this can be constipation, diarrhea, bloating, this can come out in your hormones, PMS, all that kind of stuff.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: Um, so the first hack, of course, with emotional pleasure or emotional health is becoming aware of your emotions and not pushing them down and allowing yourself to actually experience them.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: So if you're sad, allowing yourself to cry.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Like actually allowing yourself to purge ugly cry, guys.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: I used to always push down my sadness partly because I was told that it was a weakness, like when I was little, you know, that's a whole separate story.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: But in 2020, I really when I got upset and wanted to cry, I allowed myself to cry instead of trying to make myself not cry because that just made it worse.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: It flared up my gut, and then I was just bloated all the time.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: We don't have time for that.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: We need to get that out, and it's really healthy to get your emotions out.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: So that's what the last or that hack is.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: The next one is make food aesthetically pleasing.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: So they have done studies, and the more like making your food aesthetically pleasing on your plate actually makes it more satisfying.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: You ever go to a restaurant or you see something like prettily plated?
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: It makes you want to eat it more and it makes it more delicious and satisfying.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: So I encourage you to take like 30 seconds and arrange your bowl in a nice way.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: Do a nice drizzle on the top, put some fresh herbs on the top, versus just like slopping your meal in a bowl and calling it a day.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: So when people ask me, like, oh, do you actually make your food like that pretty all the time?
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Like it's not just for the gram.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: Like, guys, no, like I do that all the time because it makes it more satisfying, it makes it more pleasurable, and when you have more pleasure and more satisfying your food, you're gonna feel better about eating it versus if you're just chucking it in a bowl.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the next health hack is creating rituals.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: So rituals are super important, rituals slash routines, whichever you want to call it.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: I like rituals, but rituals really help you set the tone for the day, which will set the tone for your health and everything you do.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: So I suggest creating a morning ritual if you have not already.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: I love my morning ritual.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's a bit like all over the place with puppy.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: We're we're getting kind of more into routine now that we're like five, six weeks into having her, but you know, doing the gratitude meditation, coffee, maybe some movement, whatever it is for you, creating that ritual that allows you to set the tone for the day will change your health, right?
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Because how we start the day and our intention for the day is how the day is gonna go and our thoughts become a reality.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: You need to start creating like a ritual, and I like the word ritual because it also implies that it makes it more special.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: There is no reason you cannot make ritualslash ceremonies part of you every day.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: Like I know I have my cacao ceremonies, but like my little cacao ceremony that I do sometimes in the afternoon, I take 15-20 minutes for myself and I do a little ceremony.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: My little morning ritual, that's for me, my little something special that sets the vibe, the tone, the intention for the day, and it makes it so powerful.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: When I don't do it, I remember when puppy was ruling my life and I did not I did not have my ritual routine morning, guys, it was rough.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: And now that we've kind of gotten more to a routine with her, and she actually kind of knows now that when I'm having my coffee, like she she's calm, she's quiet, she lets me have my coffee now.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Um, but like that sets the tone for the day.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: So create yourself a ritual.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: And what I want you to do after this episode is I really want you to pause and reflect and like what would be a way I could start my morning in a delicious way.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: And I love I love using the word delicious.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Delicious is not have to mean food, guys.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Delicious is like the eucalyptus body wash from Necessaire that is now in my shower, is a delicious way for me to start the day.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Even though I have puppy who is crying because she's like does not have access to me in the shower, and we're dealing with some separation anxiety right now.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: It is a delicious way to have my shower.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Is this um eucalyptus body wash that smells so good and makes it like a spa experience at home?
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: And that really makes me feel like all these little things that I can do throughout my day.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Like I have this delicious, you know, organic roast coffee that has notes of smoke and molasses that is so good.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: It's from Equator Coffee.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: Highly recommend.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: You can get it on Amazon and it's organic.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but then I have like my eucalyptus shower, and like, yes, don't get me wrong.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: I know this sounds extravagant, but it's really not.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: It's these little moments that really make the ritual and make the morning.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: You know, I do my gratitude and I play my um ritual music.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Um it's more of like a meditative type music style from Spotify.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's a whole vibe and it sets a tone for the day.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: But I think you know, guys, what I mean by what I mean by the rituals, the showers, um, the ceremonies, routine, etc.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: I don't like routine.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Routine doesn't sound fun, routine doesn't sound pleasurable.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: We're gonna call it our morning like rituals slash ceremonies.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Moving on to the next thing since I already briefly touched on showers.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: Health hack is shower, contrast showers.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: You guys have heard me talk about contrast showers.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Contrast showers are so incredibly good for you.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: Going between the hot and cold not only upregulates your mitochondria, which are the little powerhouses of your cells that allow you to make ATP, which is your energy.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: I'm sure you guys have are familiar with ATP.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: It's taking you back to what, like grade seven science class when we were learning about ADP and then changing that into ATP, becoming a diphosphate from a triphosphate.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: Anyways, contrast showers upregulate your mitochondria, which gives you energy, also boosts your immune system, makes you more resilient to stress, calms anxiety.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: The secret is you need to do it in a three to one ratio.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: So that means three times the amount of hot for one times the amount of cold.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: So that could be 30 seconds hot, 10 seconds cold, three minutes hot, 10 uh 1 minute cold, whatever ratio you want to do, just make sure it is a three to one ratio, hot and then as cold as you possibly can, and always end on cold, guys.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: And I know I used to hate this like six years ago when I was in like my first year of med school and we're first learning about contrast showers.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: I refuse.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: I was like, no, this is stupid.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: This is annoying.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: I hate cold showers.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: There's no way I'm going to end my shower on cold.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: That sounds horrible.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: But then I made myself do it, and guys, it is a game changer.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: It just takes some time and getting used to get into a routine, but I promise it is a great free way, a free health hack to change your life.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: And that's also what in this episode, I want to focus on a lot of free things that you can do to start to like actually change your health.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: And contrast showers is one of them.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, going back to coffee, and I briefly touched on coffee.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: We're gonna get back to coffee again as a health hack.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: Guys, if you are not drinking organic coffee, you need to be drinking organic coffee.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: There are so many toxins in non-organic coffee, and I am sorry to burst your bubble.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: Nespresso is not organic.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: I see a lot of people drinking espresso.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: Organic coffee is so important because non-organic coffee, first of all, let's talk acute exposure if you're not drinking organic coffee.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Acutely, this can lead to skin rashes, headaches, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, allergic reactions, but also lead to brain fog.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: So if you feel like you are drinking your coffee and you are actually getting more foggy and not alert, this can be due to the fact that your um coffee is full of pesticides and is for full of things that are actually disrupting your brain health.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: So that's a acutely.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: This is just an acute again means like low exposure.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: This is like one cup of coffee.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: Um, so that was acute exposure of non organic coffee, but long term exposure, which means if you are drinking non organic coffee long term, guys, yes, nespresso is one of them.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Nespresso is not organic, can lead to depression, anxiety, asthma, cancer, decreased fertility, diabetes, obesity.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: We don't want any of that.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Who wants that?
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: Not to mention the brain fog concentration issues, you know, gut health issues, everything like that that comes with not drinking organic coffee.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: Coffee is one of the most heavily sprayed pesticides.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: One hack you can do for your health is start drinking organic, guys.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: It does not have to be a fancy brand, but any kind of organic coffee, just switch to it the next time you're buying coffee.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: You will honestly notice such a difference in your health.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Along the lines of toxic things and things that we can do for Health Act is switching to non-toxic cookware.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: So this is something that I definitely did in 2020.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to be more like doing all the as much as I can to like reduce my toxic burden, right?
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: From everything that we are exposed to.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: Of course, we can't uh avoid everything all the time, but it's about making conscious decisions to avoid toxic things.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: So one of the things is cookware.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: So um I now use Caraway Home cookware, which is non-toxic.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: It has no um PUFAs in it, which comes from like Teflon.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: If you are using a Teflon pan, all of the toxins from the nonstick coating are getting into your food.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: The longer or the older your pan, the more toxins are getting into your food.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Also, if you ever have like scrapes in your pan, that's getting more into your food, and then it's concentrating into your food.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Guys, we do not want to be having toxic cookware in our house, right?
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: We need to start looking at where are all the different ways that we can reduce a toxic burden, and getting good quality cookieware, a good quality cooking pans is definitely one of them.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: So there's also an exposure chemical called PTFE, which is in the non-tack non-stick coating of your Taffon pans.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: And this chemical has been linked to birth effects, cancer, thyroid disease, diabetes, and more.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: So, with time, as it gets more scratched, this chemical, along with the other ones, gets into your food.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: And you know what's really scary?
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: This chemical is strong enough that it has been found in 99% of newborns, meaning that it penetrates the womb.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Like these poor newborn babies are being born with all these chemicals in your body.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Hence why I was like, not that I'm trying to have a baby right now, but like eventually one day, and so I'm trying to get, you know, as much as the toxins out of my body.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: Um, so switching your cookware.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: It's also important to avoid aluminum, which is a neurotoxic chemical that's been tied to central nervous problems like Alzheimer's, ALS, and more.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: So you really want stainless steel, ceramic, cast iron, so staub or lucrusette is really good.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Um, stainless steel, so you guys have seen me use my stainless steel pans.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: You want to really opt for clean cookware.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: You also, speaking of cooking, you want to opt for clean cooking oils.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Guys, please ditch the sunflower inflammatory oils, the omega-6 oils, sunflower, canola, um, other seed oils, all of that.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: You really want to be cooking with oils um that have a high smoke point, which means that oils with a low smoke point, when they are used in high temperature cooking, so when they're used um like above 350 degrees in general, they oxidize and become highly toxic.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: And these dangerous compounds can really denature and lead to damaging free radicals.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: So you want to be opting for avocado oil if you're cooking above 350 degrees, um, that's the most heat-stable oil.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: Up until 350, you can use coconut, sorry, or olive oil.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the next one is blocking blue light.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: This health hack is absolutely integral.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: If you are not blocking blue light, you are doing yourself a disservice.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: You are interrupting your melatonin, interrupting your sleep.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: And if you try and tell me that, Liv, I fall asleep fine, you do not get as restful as a sleep because blue light blocks not only your melatonin production, but it's also dangerous for your health because it actually makes you store more fat.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: So if you don't if you're looking to lose weight slash you don't want to gain weight, blue light at night is going to help you, it's gonna make you gain more weight, make you increase cravings, make you want to eat more when you shouldn't or when your body doesn't need it.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: Um, and it also leads to an increase in diabetes risk.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: So we need to block blue light.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: Invest in a pair of good blue light blocking glasses.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: This does not mean the$20 ones on Amazon.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: That's why they don't work.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: Please do not buy the$20 ones on Amazon.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: Invest in a good pair.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Um, I have I use prescription ones from Bon Look that I just got like blue light blocking glasses in my prescription ones, but I also have plain blue light blocking glasses from Baxter Blue.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: They are third-party tested.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: You need to get a brand that is third party tested and verified.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: I have no affiliation with Baxter Blue.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: I don't even have a coupon code, I don't have, I don't have anything.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: They're just legit brand.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: So I want to recommend to you guys a legit brand that you can trust that you know is actually gonna make a difference.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: Another thing you can do is install Flux on your computer or F dot F F dot L U X.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: So I'm sure you can get it for Android like um Windows too, but I know for sure for Mac, it is a free app.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: You can program it to when the sun comes down, it blocks the blue light from your computer so that you're blocking it from screens.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: It's a free app.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: You guys need to do that.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: You need to turn night mode on on your iPhone.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: There's probably an Android version of that, but you need to be blocking blue light um through those different methods.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: Again, it's free.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: So I set it, you want to be doing it two hours before bed.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: So I set mine um on my phone, my computer around 7 p.m.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: to well, actually, now I don't go to bed at 9 p.m.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: with with puppy.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: Now it's more like 11, but whatever.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: Either way, I block it starting at 7.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: Um, and it helps to block the blue light for interrupting your melatonin production, helps to balance hormones and everything like that.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: You need to be blocking blue light.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: The next one is hydrating with quality water.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Guys, this is a game changer.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: This was a game changer for me in 2020, and something that I really noticed a huge difference in my health that I cannot believe I was not doing sooner.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: Okay, so tap water, no.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: Brita filters, no.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Pure P U R filters, no.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: Soma filters, no.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: None of this actually gets all of the crap out of the water.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: And if you are not drinking good quality water, your body is going to feel it, right?
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: Our bodies are 70% water.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: So I would argue it is just as important, if not more important, than the food you eat, considering your body is 70% water.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: If you are putting water in it that is contaminated with pesticides, leads, other things, and no, the Brita, the pure, and the what are the other ones?
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: The Soma one does not filter out enough.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: It is not quality, there's just a waste of your money.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: Just don't even bother.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: Um, it's not enough.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: You need to be drinking quality water.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: I noticed when I switched to drinking spring water, so I get spring water, but you can also invest in um legitimate water filters, which are a Berkey or an Aqua True.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: Um, those are the only two filters that I know of that are actually legit um that have been like third-party tested, verified, actually give you good clean water.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: I feel astronomically different because I know when I run out of like my spring water and I have to like I drink Tau because the I didn't have a delivery or the delivery didn't come in time.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: I feel astronomically worse.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: Well, I will leave the house and go buy like boxed water, like the flow boxed water, so it's not in classic, to feel better.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: I know it's an astronomical difference when I started drinking quality water.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: It is worth the investment, guys.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: Like I know it's expensive, but it's worth it for your health.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: I would argue, again, just as much as food, if not more, because your body is 70% water, you need to be drinking quality water.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: So it needs to be spring water, not spring water that comes in plastic.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: So I get the the big jugs delivered, but not the big jugs I have in plastic, because then your water is sitting in plastic, and that is a big, big no-no.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: You don't want your water to be sitting in plastic, getting all of those nasty chemicals in it.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: And no, BPA free is not better.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: So if you try to tell me BPA free, no, BPA free is not better.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Still have BPS still has all that other endocrine disrupting things.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: Spring water in glass, or get a Berkey or Aqua Chu filter.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: It will change your life, it will change your health.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: You need to, especially because water is something you drink every single day.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: Your body 70% water, clean up your water.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: Next health hack protecting your energy.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Guys, I know I talked about this in the things to do in 2021 to change your life, etc.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: But we need to be protecting our energy.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: I'm reminding you again, um, and I'm gonna share with you some ways that I like to.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: So right now I'm wearing my black tourmaline bracelet.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: I created this with I am energy collective, um, which is one of my best friends, and I was like, I need to get this bracelet out to people because people need to protect their energy.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: So, black tourmaline is a great crystal to use that allows you to protect your energy by wearing it every day.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: It just protects me from bad vibes, bad juju, whatever you want to call it, protecting your energy.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: We have to remember that we are energetic beings having a temporary human experience.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: We are susceptible to energy.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: We have auras, we have auric fields.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: This can be measured by electromagnetic radiation, okay?
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: You can measure your energy field.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: They have done this in countless studies.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: You are emitting energy.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Everything you have emit emits energy.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: Whether it's people, even like this cup of coffee beside me, coffee is emitting energy, but the glass is emitting energy.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: Definitely, the crystal beside me is emitting energy.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Akasha here is emitting energy.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: Like all of that you are susceptible for, right?
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: You need to protect your energy.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: So I like black tourmaline.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: I also like to wrap a bubble around yourself.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: And the reason this is important for your health is because if you are not protecting your energy, especially as an empath, and I know there's a lot of empaths listening to this, you start internalizing other people's emotions and other people's shit as your own.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: That makes you more anxious.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: That interrupts your gut health, like to the point where me absorbing other people's anxiety, emotions, all that, then harbor my gut health, and my gut health flares and I'm bloated all the time because I'm super anxious and stressed out because Sally in the grocery store is stressed out and she's not protecting her energy.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: You need to protect your energy, black tourmaline or the bubble, those are my favorite ways um to kind of protect your energy, but do so because if not, the energy you pick up from other people will manifest in your health symptoms.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: Think about like when someone you you love is going through something tough and like you can't sleep, or someone you love um is either sad or upset or going through something, and like either you lose your appetite, you lose, like do you know what I mean?
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: Like you already see the energy in the day-to-day of that.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: It's not so woo to believe that like you need to protect your energy to also protect your health.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: Okay, the next health hack we are gonna get into if you guys are not doing it already, gratitude.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: You need to be having gratitude every single day.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: The more grateful you are, the more healthy you will be, the happier you will be.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: Because we all have things to be grateful for.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: We all have things that we yeah, that we have to be grateful for.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: If you're not practicing gratitude, three things every single morning before your feet hit the ground.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: I'll have to do this in bed before my feet hit the ground, but you can also write it out.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: You need to be expressing gratitude and not just like for, and this is something I find especially useful.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: My family, my friends, like, and I said this in my other episode, be specific.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I'm grateful for my friend Aaron, who came and helped me puppy sit and took like the few hours to puppy sit Akasha so that I could have energy healing done so that I could feel more human.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: I'm grateful for that.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Like, versus just saying my friends, but being specific about what you're grateful for allows you to attract more gratitude and more abundance into your life.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: You there that's why they've done so many countless studies.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: They've studied it for anxiety, they've studied it for depression.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: You need to start doing gratitude every single day.
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: Okay, the next health hack is having fun with food.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: Guys, this is a game changer.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: If you feel like healthy food is boring, it's not, you're not gonna stick to it, it's not gonna feel good, you're not gonna wanna do it.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: But when you have fun with food by adding dips and sauces and herbs, it makes you wanna be more healthy and it makes it more of a lifestyle sustainable thing versus eating boiled chicken and steamed broccoli, right?
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: I am having a huge moment with Baba Ganoosh right now.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: I do not know why it took me so long to discover Baba Ganoosh, but here we are.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: Baba Ganoush is like my dip of 2021.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: It is delicious.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: I like to add it on bowls with like chicken and roasted veggies, and I'll also add a sprinkle of fresh herbs or like even some chopped green onion.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: And it really makes the food more fun and more pleasurable and more flavorful.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: The more flavor you can add to your food, the more likely you're gonna be able to stick to this healthy food.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: And also because healthy food is so delicious.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: When I, like, for example, I'm making a goddess bowl for lunch, um, for lunch today, at well, not not after this podcast, because I have a client after this podcast, but um, after that client I am making lunch and I'm making a goddess bowl, and it's going to be roasted veggies, salmon with a tahini drizzle, a spoonful of bubbian noosh, some taboo ryu, which is like a Japanese chili oil, but it's not super spicy.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: It's like garlic spices, but it's mild because I can't handle the spice.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Um some green onion on top, and the flavor combo and the deliciousness and the textures, it's fun, right?
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: The fun of the bowl with the dips and the sauces that I prep beforehand to allow me to create like a really healthy meal quickly after my client um to have her lunch makes healthy food more fun, makes it more sustainable, makes it more of a lifestyle versus just eating like if I just baked chicken and veggies plain in the oven and chucked that into a bowl.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: Like, hell no.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm not eating that.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: Like, does that does not sound fun?
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: No, we are not here for this.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: We are here for eating delicious, healthy food in a pleasurable way.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and I teach more of this in Well Nourished if you need more help.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: Health act number, I don't know, 10, 12.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: Who knows at this point.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: Akashic readings.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: So, yes, something that changed my health in 2020 were Akashic readings.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: So I felt like I was really able to get insight into my health, kind of why I had been struggling for so long, kind of like the last puzzle pieces.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: I had done so much to heal my adrenals, my health, my gut health, but it wasn't until I had an Akashic reading that I was able to understand things from past lives that I had been holding onto my body that made my health not be like, let's just say fully ideal, right?
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: So it's a great hack to kind of get really insight into okay, what's causing this?
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: Why have I not been able to heal from XYZ?
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: Um, why am I so tired all the time?
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: Why is my gut health flaring?
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: What can I do to heal my gut health more?
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: What can I do to heal my, you know, eczema or endometriosis or whatever it is?
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: Because these are examples that I've done for people.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: Because the Akashic records are a record of everything past, present, and future.
- 36:17SPEAKER_00: There are your soul's timeline through across all time and space in all dimensions, right?
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: So it knows the answer to why you're having health problems.
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: It knows the answer to why you're experiencing this.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: So by going in there and getting the answers, it's like hacking your way to finding, it's like getting the answers to the test, right?
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: Like, if you want the answers to the exam or to the test, you can kind of want to like, I don't want to say cheat the system, but basically cheat and get the answers.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: Go get into the Ekashic Records, and that will do that.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: So that's something that I like to do.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: Um, I go into my records all the time.
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: My friends have come to me so many times, um, and also like some of you guys have come back to me multiple times to get insight into like healing your body.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: Um, and I actually had a friend, and I won't like say her name obviously for privacy reasons, but who struggled with colitis for a long time, and you know, her diet is so clean, she's taking all the supplements, doing enemas, do this, like doing all the things.
- 37:07SPEAKER_00: The funny thing is is that it had nothing to do with like a supplement she should be taking or a diet she should be doing, like all that was clean, she was taking supplements, she was doing enemas, but it was something she was actually holding on from a past life in her gut that is harboring in the pain she was experiencing now.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: Game changer, this is why like a classic readings can be a really good like health hack.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, the next health hack has to do with fitness and also being more intuitive with your movement.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: Okay, instead of forcing yourself through a workout you're gonna hate, what type of movement will feel good today?
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: Some days I feel like doing legs, some days I feel like doing abs, some days I feel like a walk.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: Some days I just want to stretch.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: And I can tell you, like, after six weeks of having puppy, I'm still I'm not doing intense workouts.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm having been to SoulCycle even before I got puppy all through um, you know, quarantine, whatever it was.
- 37:54SPEAKER_00: Um, like my body didn't, like I didn't start gaining all this weight because I wasn't doing soul cycle or intense workouts.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: So that's your fear.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: That's not gonna happen.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: You might actually lose weight because you're being gentler on your body and you're doing shorter, like less intense workouts and more like low impact workouts that don't spike your cortisol.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: Because remember, why don't you do things like soul cycle HIT workouts, crossfit?
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: If you do them too much, then that's just gonna spike your cortisol.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: When we spike cortisol, your body gets into a stress state and we store fat slash don't get rid of fat because it's like, oh shit, I'm stressed out.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: I gotta hold on to this because this is an emergency resource.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: So I find when people are doing like CrossFit or Soul Cycle too much, if you're doing it like maybe five, six times a week and you feel puffy, you feel like you're not losing weight, you might want to scale back because that is a good signal to you that it's actually too much.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: Another good signal is that if you feel exhausted after a workout, if it's like a hit crossfit, etc., um, it's too much.
- 38:47SPEAKER_00: You should feel energized.
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, and one thing I'll mention in terms of like health hacks, invest in a pair of booty bands.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: Guys, it is the best$30 I have ever spent.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: I use the peach bands from Amazon.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: No, no sponsorship.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: Like, I bought this myself.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: It comes with like four different like strengths or like tension things.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: Um, best like honestly, I bought them thinking that like, oh, quarantine's not gonna last, whatever, I'll just buy them, they're inexpensive, and like here we are almost a year later, and I'm still using them.
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: And they're really good just for like a low-cost thing to keep things like nice and tight, basically.
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: So I highly recommend booty bands as a health hack.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: Um, more than like weights.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: So I find booty bands are really good if you want, if you want long, lean lines.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: Um, booty bands, if you want to get really bulky, then I would say um do more of like your your weights.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: Because the thing about booty bands that I like is that it targets the smaller muscles in your legs and the ones you don't mainly use.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: So the thing about um using like dumbbells and stuff like that is that it can it activates your main muscles, like your quads and your glutes, but it doesn't activate like the stability and all the other little muscles that I find makes a big difference in terms of like fitness form and everything like that.
- 40:03SPEAKER_00: So that's why I like my hack is to use booty bands over weights, um, just because I find that I get like more toned long lean lines when I use booty bands.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the next healthy hack for 2021 I love is matcha.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: So I refell in love with matcha in 2020.
- 40:21SPEAKER_00: Matcha I love as like my, you guys know I love my morning coffee, but I love matcha as like a second like energy boost throughout the day.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: It is loaded with L theanine, which really gives you a calm focus.
- 40:34SPEAKER_00: So you know how like coffee gives you focus but can give you jitters?
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: Matcha has L-theanine, which gives you a calm focus.
- 40:41SPEAKER_00: It's also loaded with antioxidants and has a compound called EGCG.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: Really good again for immune health, but also hormones and everything like that for gut health too.
- 40:53SPEAKER_00: So matcha is super good for you.
- 40:55SPEAKER_00: Highly recommend um trying out matcha.
- 40:58SPEAKER_00: I actually like my matcha with a squeeze of lemon.
- 41:01SPEAKER_00: Um, I know a lot of people like matcha lattes.
- 41:03SPEAKER_00: I'm not one for a milky matcha.
- 41:05SPEAKER_00: Um, I just use like the plain matcha tea with some hot water and then some lemon, and it tastes so good.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: I like it hot, I like it cold in the summertime, but matcha is a great way to kind of get like a bit of an energy boost, but also to get loads of antioxidants into your body as well.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: Helps with gut health, immune health, and all of that stuff.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: So the next one, a healthy hack for 2021, is intermittent fasting.
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: Guys, I adore intermittent fasting.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: Not only does it make it like a lot easier for your day, but it actually gives your digestion a break and it also allows you to, you know, maintain a healthy weight and or lose weight depending on your goals.
- 41:44SPEAKER_00: So when you eat, basically it spikes insulin for up to 12 hours.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: So if you are eating dinner at 7 p.m.
- 41:51SPEAKER_00: and then you are eating breakfast at 7 a.m., your body doesn't actually have a chance to enter a fat-burning mode because as soon as the 12 hours hits, you are loading it up with food again.
- 42:00SPEAKER_00: So by intermittent fasting and doing like a longer time in between your meals from like your dinner to your breakfast, it actually not allows you to burn fat, but it also gives your digestion a chance to really repair and rest.
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: So, one misconception that happens with intermittent fasting is people thinking that it is about skipping meals.
- 42:21SPEAKER_00: It is not about skipping meals, it is about eating the same amount in a smaller window of time.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: Um, this is also really good in terms of like saving time and everything like that in the morning.
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: If you're rushed, you don't have to worry as much.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: So I love to practice this.
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: I notice a huge difference in my energy levels, um, in my gut health, especially.
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: Like this really helped to repair my gut um way back in the day, but also like I did it a lot through 2020, and it was so so good.
- 42:47SPEAKER_00: So, intermittent fasting has so many great benefits along with it as well.
- 42:51SPEAKER_00: It's good for immune health, it's good for your thyroid, it's good for so many things.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: Um, just make sure that you are not under-eating and that you're still eating everything and all the amounts that you need to eat in that window.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: But highly recommend intermittent fasting, it's basically a great biohacking way to live longer.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: It really helps with your telomere as well, which are a really good predictor, or like how they predict your healthy aging is the length of your telomere.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: So intermittent fasting is good with that.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: Fasting in general is good with that, but um, intermittent fasting is a great way to kind of apply some of that kind of like basic foundational knowledge into your life.
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, the next healthy hack for 2021 is EFT tapping.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: I adore EFT tapping, I fell in love with it um in 2020, and I now use it in my well-nourished program.
- 43:42SPEAKER_00: I use it with my clients, I use it so much, and basically you are tapping on the energetic meridians of the body.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: Now, I study the energetic meridians in Chinese medicine when it comes to acupuncture, and it uses those same ones, kind of like the energy points in the body, to tap away things.
- 43:57SPEAKER_00: Highly recommend EFT tapping.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: There are tappings for everything.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: There is tapping for anxiety, tapping for depression, tapping for sugar cravings, um, for people pleasing.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: I have ones like in Well Nourished, we tap for emotional eating, we tap for mindful eating, um, sugar cravings, everything like that.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: There is a tapping for everything.
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: So if you haven't looked into tapping yet, highly, highly recommend um adding it into your routine.
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: It's definitely a good healthy hack.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: You can tap your way to a like a stronger immune system, better gut health, everything like that, just by working on the energetic meridians.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: And what I really love about it as well is that because I, you know, haven't been able to do acupuncture on people or and I see people remotely on Zoom, it allows me to really still use the energetic meridians of the body just by using touch and tapping.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: So, really, really useful.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: Highly recommend, you know, doing some tapping, incorporating it into your routine/slash your ritual.
- 44:48SPEAKER_00: So, I hope you guys really enjoyed these current favorite health hacks for 2021.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: These were the game changers for me, um, things that I incorporate regularly.
- 44:57SPEAKER_00: And oh my gosh, Okasha is right now on my lap and she's licking my hand and she's so cute.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: She's behaving in my lap for this last part of the episode.
- 45:05SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, I'm gonna go feed her some dinner now.
