- 0:00Speaker 1: So we're live Stuck no More podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm so glad you're listening on the podcast For a special end of Thanksgiving week podcast and we're going to interview me.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I know, I know, I know it sounds corny.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I know it sounds corny, but what a thing I'm really thankful for from this past year lots of things, but one of them was joining in with Kingdom Alliance and getting to speak on stage.
- 0:24Speaker 1: So before I talk anymore, let me just share with you my latest talk, which was so precious to me because I was chosen to speak and it was in front of my peers, and there's just something about nothing more of a comfortable audience than speaking in front of your peers.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So, without further ado, let's just go ahead and let you see that, and then maybe we'll talk a little bit about you being on stage.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Here we go, here we go.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 0:52Speaker 1: Okay, I got to turn it on and let's go.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I could write a book I'm so glad my husband died Subtitled how I Won the War on my Voice.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Now, while you process that I see you processing I want you to know I'm all for the covenant of marriage.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Bobby and Michelle, my new heroes, kendra and Tyler Not against men either.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Good looking guy, good looking truck goes by, my head's going to turn.
- 1:39Speaker 1: My heart's going to skip a beat over the truck.
- 1:43Speaker 1: My heart's going to skip a beat over the truck.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Now, the reason I say this is I was about six years into my radio career as an announcer at a major station outside of Atlanta when the war for my voice began.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I got married and for 26 years I was married to a man who never dealt with the brokenness of his soul, and oftentimes that results in control, jealousy, stomping your voice out.
- 2:14Speaker 1: We call it narcissism today.
- 2:17Speaker 1: But I got to tell you something Sometimes that painful misery becomes your destiny.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Sometimes the anguish of the messes become a kingdom message.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So let me give you a summary of the last eight months of his life, just in case you think I took him out.
- 2:43Speaker 1: It crossed my mind in 2009.
- 2:49Speaker 1: So it's like this we are moving and we had a burn barrel outside.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You burn debris, right?
- 2:59Speaker 1: You understand that.
- 3:00Speaker 1: And the one day I didn't go out there with him.
- 3:02Speaker 1: He was trying to start it and he was using gasoline.
- 3:06Speaker 1: The container that he used backed on him and I no sooner put a piece of china in a box than I looked out the window.
- 3:14Speaker 1: He's fully inflamed, third degree burns with 30% of his body and he didn't want to go to the hospital.
- 3:22Speaker 1: So nurse T enters dressing his rooms three times a day.
- 3:28Speaker 1: He used every foul word in the foul word book.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You know that book.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Four months later he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and he didn't take his pain meds, just let that sink in and then four months later he passed away.
- 3:52Speaker 1: But let me tell you that's why my mission is to help you win the war on your voice, even if you feel voiceless and stuck, my life is your survival guide.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Stuck, my life is your survival guide.
- 4:12Speaker 1: These explosions have turned into landmines of God's faithfulness.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Now I realize, some of you, the war in your voice may not be relational.
- 4:17Speaker 1: It may be doubt and feeling stuck which puts you in a prison of your own making and you don't know where the key is.
- 4:24Speaker 1: But I want to help you because you see, your voice is the unique expression of your identity, your values and your experiences, which can impact thousands.
- 4:39Speaker 1: So I have three keys that came from the reawakening of my voice, from trauma.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yeah, key number one good news is on your lips, so unlock your voice.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I believe God lines in your very DNA, a purpose, something that's just lined there, there and you know it.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I oftentimes really believe you can see threads of that purpose by what did you like to do when you played?
- 5:13Speaker 1: You were a kid, what did you like to do?
- 5:15Speaker 1: I could tell you many things, but this is a chem 10, so I only got two.
- 5:20Speaker 1: When I was about seven or eight, we lived in this old house and there were massive stairs to a seven-year-old and I'd climb up those stairs and I'd look out and imagine a crowd as big as Billy Graham Are you ready?
- 5:34Speaker 1: And I'd preach.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I was Catholic, I didn't want to be a priest, I just wanted to speak.
- 5:45Speaker 1: We later moved In this house.
- 5:47Speaker 1: There was only two little steps.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Oh, it's disgusting.
- 5:50Speaker 1: One day outside I was sitting two steps.
- 5:53Speaker 1: What am I going to do on that?
- 5:54Speaker 1: But I saw an apple cart.
- 5:56Speaker 1: So I tipped that thing lengthwise, got on it and I did preach to the birds, the bees and the apple trees.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Hey guys, you really need Jesus.
- 6:10Speaker 1: So do you see the threads?
- 6:13Speaker 1: Let me show you the threads Apple cart to Apple computer, imac, macbook Pro, ipad, iphone with filters, of course, iphone information.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I need Jesus online.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So for 20 years I used an Apple product to express my voice, to speak, but this is something that the Lord revealed to me that is really for you.
- 6:41Speaker 1: In the moments of my despair, in the cacophony of the marriage, I would journal and the Holy Spirit and he'd say listen to the vine dresser.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I couldn't conjure these things up and I'd write it down Beloved, I see the tears making your coffee salty.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I mean he's just writing as the only I could hear.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I couldn't conjure them up.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I later did publish three devotionals while in the midst of a marriage.
- 7:11Speaker 1: This is for you.
- 7:12Speaker 1: You, if you create from the core of the identity that God gave you and you let the Holy Spirit come in there, you stop the war on your voice by creating the way God creates, kendra.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Creating the way God creates, you don't have to wait for your husband to die.
- 7:35Speaker 1: You create the way God creates in your marriage, in your family, in your business, in your singing, rebecca, and that puts a stop.
- 7:46Speaker 1: So I just want to tell you I didn't know that, but I was creating in the voice of the Father.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It wasn't religion, and I look back now and I was always fighting for my voice because I was creating the way God creates.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Step number two you might want to write this one down Freedom is your story, so learn to say no.
- 8:13Speaker 1: When you say yes to someone, when really it's a no, you lose a part of yourself.
- 8:19Speaker 1: It sends a signal to your brain you can't trust yourself.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Signal to your brain you can't trust yourself.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I was terrible at saying no.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I couldn't even say no to go to the grocery store.
- 8:31Speaker 1: But the last five years I realized I could say no by creating a boundary right.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Go to a different room in my house.
- 8:37Speaker 1: He sold the house he wanted to build on land, so I ended up in this small little camper out in the middle of nowhere, which leads to key number three.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I like key number three.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Key number three is fight for your friends.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Find those friends who celebrate you and not just tolerate you.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Do you know?
- 9:08Speaker 1: Studies indicate that the friends you hang around can change the structure of your brain.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I really like this line to the song and I'm going to sing it to you, but the acoustics are not like my shower.
- 9:22Speaker 1: So this is it.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I love this.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Stay close to the people who feel like sunshine.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Look at your neighbor and say you feel like sunshine.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Come on, look at your neighbor.
- 9:37Speaker 1: You feel like sunshine.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I could add a line.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I could add a line to that song.
- 9:42Speaker 1: The songwriter doesn't want it, but I could add a line Stay close to the people who feel like Jesus with skin on.
- 9:52Speaker 1: So in the context of relationships, I was studying oxytocin.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Virginia, I did not say oxycontin, got it Okay.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Oxytocin, it's a hormone that serves as a neurotransmitter.
- 10:05Speaker 1: In the context of relationships, it has everything to do with empathy, trust and bonding.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I was very low on that.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Studies also indicate if oxytocin is low, you have a greater chance for blood pressure, heart disease and a weakened immune system, not to mention loneliness, depression and anxiety.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Studies also indicate that long-term social isolation feels like a long-term infection that you can't get rid of oxytocin.
- 10:48Speaker 1: So there were mornings when the last five years I'd get up and I'd just feel this weight on my body.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I hadn't read that book the Body Keeps the Score.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Anyone know that book?
- 10:54Speaker 1: It's like ah, and I couldn't figure it out.
- 10:56Speaker 1: So I had a choice I could go back to bed or I could fight for my voice.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I chose to fight three things coffee, jesus and the vine dresser.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Guess what?
- 11:11Speaker 1: This is really cool, I believe the modern day, oxytocin comes in the form of a zoom camera.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I got the best therapy going on two years, two hours a day a Zoom camera.
- 11:24Speaker 1: How did you guys get here A Zoom camera?
- 11:27Speaker 1: Now we're experiencing oxytocin to the overload.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Okay, everyone, let's all look at the camera and wave.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Let's give them a hug.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Give them a hug.
- 11:38Speaker 1: They're going to experience some oxytocin from you guys.
- 11:41Speaker 1: You know, god has a way of making things that don't make any sense meaningful.
- 11:47Speaker 1: At the beginning of the year, he said Teresa Chachi PT said this and he affirmed Teresa, I've called you a voice revivalist.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Okay, that's cool.
- 12:01Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I'll put that in my business plan.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Three months later, do you remember the radio station I was telling you about?
- 12:07Speaker 1: After 18 years, they hired me back.
- 12:11Speaker 1: You're listening to Victory 91.5, the sound of revival.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I think the vine dresser has some words for you.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Listen to the vine dresser.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Your voice is a much needed salt to a world that's lost its appetite for a loving meal at the Father's table, my table.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Your voice is light to a world that thinks darkness is normal and struggles with enmity and strife.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Your voice is life.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Now stand up.
- 12:59Speaker 1: We're going to make some declarations.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Come on, repeat after me.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 13:03Speaker 1: Good news is on my lips.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Freedom is my story.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Rescue is my mission.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Rescue is my mission.
- 13:18Speaker 1: When you learn to win the war in your voice and create the way God creates, you get to speak to the person.
- 13:25Speaker 1: You once were All right, there you go.
- 13:32Speaker 1: That was speaking on stage with the Kingdom Alliance's Activate Conference.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But Kingdom Alliance has a speaker academy and this was the second year I went through it and you know you can have your signature talk and then you can build around it, but it's one of the safest places to learn to speak.
- 13:55Speaker 1: The Speaker Academy.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I think it'll start off in April, so you have like nine weeks online where you learn from some of the best speakers.
- 14:05Speaker 1: They have a crew of three people Molly Trotter, lisa Vanderquack and Michelle Schaefer who combined have over like 60 years of experience, and so you go through the online and then you go to in-person.
- 14:22Speaker 1: And what's so fun is on the in-person you get a practice day.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Okay, and I'll never forget it, I was with Michelle and Natalie and it was like the night before the practice day and I'm like Michelle, let's go find where the stage is.
- 14:37Speaker 1: I thought all three days were going to be at the hotel.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And so we found where the practice place is.
- 14:44Speaker 1: This is the night before and I remember practicing and I got up there and I went blank.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I'm so glad I was practicing on the practice stage.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And I got off and I said I'm sorry, guys, I got to do that over.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I don't, I have a major brain.
- 14:57Speaker 1: So I practiced again.
- 14:59Speaker 1: So the next day, the official practice day, not the certification day, just the practice day and I was so excited.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Was I nervous?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Oh, just so excited, okay.
- 15:10Speaker 1: And I remember getting up there and, you know, trying to get everything in, and when I was done, now they have four judges one, two, three, four and they're.
- 15:20Speaker 1: They're not there to criticize you, ok, they're there just to help you along.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I've never.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And Michelle Schaefer was like Teresa.
- 15:28Speaker 1: You remember when Dr Caroline Leaf was a guest on our show and we were trying to catch up with her, I said, yeah, she goes.
- 15:34Speaker 1: That's what you sounded like.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my goodness, I'm sorry, I was so excited.
- 15:40Speaker 1: So here was the first major constructive I don't want to say criticism, but help.
- 15:47Speaker 1: And you know you pay a little extra to go there in person.
- 15:51Speaker 1: So I was going to milk it for all it was worth.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And you know each judge had something to say.
- 15:56Speaker 1: And then I was asking them questions and you know I mean that in itself was quite comical in that I was just just asking them question after question.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So then we had the actual certification.
- 16:09Speaker 1: It was in another place, major stage, it was beautiful.
- 16:12Speaker 1: And so for the certification I decided to wear the headphone mic.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Oh, is that a mistake?
- 16:18Speaker 1: I thank goodness I knew my talk well because throughout the talk that little headset kept dropping and falling off and I'm like I'm constantly going like this.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I thought it was pretty comical.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Then they said, ok, out of those certified we're going to.
- 16:36Speaker 1: They had a major first Kim 10 event where people from the outside came and they chose four from the group and it was like you know, they'd announced you got your certified.
- 16:48Speaker 1: And then there's this long pause.
- 16:51Speaker 1: For me I'm like, oh dang, I didn't make it.
- 16:53Speaker 1: And then, teresa Gromit I was so excited just to get another chance.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Any chance you get to speak on stage if you're learning to speak is worth it.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And that was so much fun.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I felt like I was in my living room sharing that day.
- 17:08Speaker 1: You know you got way more feedback from the crowd.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So this continued on.
- 17:13Speaker 1: In Dallas, there was another Kim Tan event and I was asked to speak on that stage.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Now, you know, I really believe not all stages are going to be the same, so this wasn't necessarily all Kim 10 speakers, it was another group, and so I got to learn how to speak with I don't know.
- 17:31Speaker 1: There was just something in there.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I don't know if it's competition, it just wasn't the same.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I mean, I gave my speech, but it didn't feel like I was in my living room.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:39Speaker 1: So then, uh, when was it?
- 17:43Speaker 1: Shortly after that event, I was out to dinner with Michelle Schaefer and the gang and no, she emailed me.
- 17:49Speaker 1: It was my prayer for two months that they would pick me for the activate.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I wanted to speak in front of my peers, and so I was actually with Alana in Vancouver with my business mental coach, and I got the email and I shot straight up in the air because I had been praying about it.
- 18:05Speaker 1: So when I got to the Dallas event, I was having dinner with Michelle.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Michelle was sitting next to me.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I said you know what I said I'm so glad you picked me.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I said I've been praying for two months since you picked me.
- 18:15Speaker 1: She goes well.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Your name has been on a notebook of mine for two months.
- 18:19Speaker 1: So that's a lesson there your dreams God can make your dreams come true.
- 18:26Speaker 1: So what about you?
- 18:27Speaker 1: So is that something you really would like to do, like speak on stage?
- 18:31Speaker 1: Or is it like terrify you?
- 18:33Speaker 1: Or you know you want to speak on stage because it's in your very DNA.
- 18:39Speaker 1: You know, like I shared in that story I had I could share so many more.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I mean, I volunteered to read at mass when I was 16 because they had a microphone.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Who volunteers to read at church?
- 18:52Speaker 1: I did so.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Another story I was a professional golfer and there wasn't satellite radio back then.
- 19:01Speaker 1: So I would make these little tapes they're called the KYSS tape series and I would hand them out to my friends, because there was no satellite radio KY.
- 19:15Speaker 1: No, you're someone special and I'd be the DJ in between them.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I did a lot of them.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I did one on Amy Grant and one of my friends sent it to Amy Grant's mom and she said she wrote she owed me the letter she was.
- 19:26Speaker 1: That was the most precious thing I've ever seen.
- 19:29Speaker 1: So I'm retired now.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I was retired from radio and I really wanted to excuse me.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Golf, professional golf Got burned out, totally burned out.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I'm so glad because I probably I really wanted to go into radio.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I did not know this particular FM radio station just outside of Atlanta was the only Christian radio station I didn't know.
- 19:53Speaker 1: They had an ad that said you must have two years experience.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Thank you, jesus, I didn't see that because I wouldn't have applied.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I didn't have two years experience.
- 20:01Speaker 1: So I went into the interview with my KYSS tape series.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I mean I guess he thought it was a radio station and it was so good that's what got me hired.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So for 15 and a half years I was at that radio station doing really what I love.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I had to retire and I had to choose my family or the radio station because my husband wanted to move us to Louisiana.
- 20:34Speaker 1: So I had to retire.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So now, 18 years later, as I kind of share, I was working on some things here and I found out the radio station had some openings, or just one opening.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It's hard to get into radio, let me tell you.
- 20:53Speaker 1: So after 18 years hired again at the same radio station and like this morning I was with 391.5, the sound revival.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I was actually filling in for my boss this morning.
- 21:07Speaker 1: So I say all that to say I believe, live or recorded on my podcast or not, I believe God may be tugging you to speak.
- 21:18Speaker 1: You know I said on stage okay, this is a real crucial thing.
- 21:23Speaker 1: You're on stage.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Anytime you go live, whether it's Instagram, facebook or TikTok, you're on a stage, okay.
- 21:32Speaker 1: So a lot of these principles, even if you don't go to the end and speak on stage, a lot of these things you're going to learn are applicable for speaking on camera.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Yeah, can I give you three keys before I leave?
- 21:46Speaker 1: If you want to be a speaker and let's just talk this on camera, okay.
- 21:52Speaker 1: So key number one is do 10 jumping jacks before you go live.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It kind of gets the blood flowing.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I didn't have to do jumping jacks because I was excited to share with you, but you got to.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Kind of gets the energy up.
- 22:03Speaker 1: It gets.
- 22:03Speaker 1: You know why do we worry?
- 22:05Speaker 1: Praise and worship before the sermon.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I think, yeah, we worship God, don't get me wrong, but I think a lot of it is just to get everyone up and ready to receive the message.
- 22:14Speaker 1: So you can do 10 jumping jacks to give the message.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Same thing.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Key number two and this is definitely for those who are online.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Look at the little camera right there.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Look at it.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I could look at myself.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, bad hair day.
- 22:29Speaker 1: No, look at the camera, whether it's on your phone a little bit of that there or literally a camera.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I don't use my camera much.
- 22:36Speaker 1: It's kind of funny why?
- 22:38Speaker 1: Because I want you to do this.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I want you to look at that little dot as if you're talking to your best friend.
- 22:44Speaker 1: What does that do it, best friend?
- 22:45Speaker 1: What does that do?
- 22:46Speaker 1: It keeps you from being and I really want you to buy this.
- 22:49Speaker 1: You know, or I have a great product, or let me try to do some attraction marketing, but you're stiff.
- 22:58Speaker 1: But if you think of it, I used to a long time ago I used to think it was my mom because back then my mom was the main person I talked to.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I don't talk to her much more anymore because her memory's kind of gone.
- 23:08Speaker 1: So I do talk to her every day, but I think of a really good friend I love to have coffee with and I look at that dot like I'm talking with my friend having coffee.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Tip number three is crucial.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Are you following me?
- 23:19Speaker 1: Maybe you're following me or not.
- 23:21Speaker 1: But tip number three is crucial Smile.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I really learned this on the radio because when you smile, it does something to the cadence of your voice.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I remember days on the radio where I just had a headache or I didn't feel good, but the minute that mic came on, hey, you're listening to Victory 91.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I think we called something else back then.
- 23:40Speaker 1: So smile.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Just three little tips for speaking on camera.
- 23:45Speaker 1: So once again, message me.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Inside Kingdom Alliance, you get this at the fraction of a cost.
- 23:54Speaker 1: If you go to some major ones they're up to 10 grand.
- 23:56Speaker 1: You get a membership where you get the best.
- 23:59Speaker 1: What do you call it?
- 24:00Speaker 1: Mentoring?

- 24:05Speaker 1: The inside.
- 24:06Speaker 1: You have a monthly membership, but it's nothing If you really want monthly membership, but it's nothing if you really want to speak, it's nothing compared to what you pay to speak.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And uh, I just, I just think it's the greatest thing to be able to know.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Something was in your dna to be.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I was very coachable teach me I.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I had some messages, but that signature message is because God called me a voice revivalist to help those who feel voiceless and stuck, to find their voice, create impact by making money and growing in community.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I said making money.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I had on the last podcast, a great podcast with coach reina, the fun money coach, because finances are needed more than ever before and I have a digital marketing business stuck.

- 25:21Speaker 1: It's one of the safest stages you can be on.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I don't go and seek stages.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I pray that they seek me.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Does that make sense?
- 25:28Speaker 1: Okay, I have my little high tops.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I didn't wear them on that one you saw and on my high tops I have two sticky notes.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Speak on more stages, making the declarations with my sticky notes, because everyone has something that's lined in their DNA and I really believe that you are meant to speak.
