- Jenn: Welcome to We're Not Crazy, right? Erica: We're not crazy, right? Erica Jenn: Jen, we're here. It's Tuesday. We'll release this on Thursday. We're doing really well. We've been consistent. Erica: We have been consistent. I'm very proud of us. Jenn: Yes. the only thing I don't like about this setup is that I have to have the big light on in my house in the middle of the day, which I hate. That's all. Erica: Why? 'Cause you like the natural light? Jenn: I like a natural light. So turning the big light on at, one o'clock is not in my favorite things to do. Erica: Also another favorite thing that you do like to do is get groceries prior to your arrival time. Jenn: I don't understand why when I put the window for delivery time from a certain time to another certain time and you deliver fifteen minutes prior to the window. Like so we were we are officially an hour and fifteen minutes past when we said we were going to record. But it's fine. Fine. Erica: Listen, I don't I don't really use delivery service for groceries ever since COVID stopped. I don't know. I don't trust them. I you guys all do it and I'm like, I don't know how. I don't know how you guys do it. Jenn: I know. Well, because because I knew we had this going on today and like there's just certain days when I'm trying to just take care of things at the house and Erica: Mm. Jenn: that's an hour and a half of my life that I would rather spend doing something else than having to go to the grocery store. So Yeah. You also Erica: That's that's true. That's and you trust them to pick out your avocados. Jenn: Yes, I'm actually very specific. I make notes in the app. Erica: In the app. really? Okay. That's my biggest thing to like Jenn: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I normally ask for them to be almost right because then we're good, Yeah. Erica: Yeah. Well sometimes I've gotten strawberries and they've like moldy at the bottom. Jenn: Yeah, I say flip over and look at the bottom. Erica: my god, so you're like well you probably have notes saved this psych this is psychotic. I won't Jenn: I do, I do. But I also like it says please flip them over and look at the bottom to make sure that they aren't moldy. Thank you. Like I'm really nice about it. With like a smiley face. No, Erica: The time do you make all these notes, you could have just went to the grocery store. Jenn: because I've been doing this for so many years. It's already saved. It's already saved. Yeah. Yes. Yes. Yes. So every time strawberries Erica: okay. So it does save, it's not you don't have to go back in and okay, okay, fine. Fine, fine. Jenn: are in there, it says that. they definitely think I'm crazy, but I don't care. Yeah. Erica: And this is Instacart? Jenn: Yeah. Erica: So your shopper has to literally look in notes at everything they they Jenn: Poor poor thing. Poor thing. You know what? I tip well. I tip well. So, yeah. Erica: Yeah. God. And you live what, five minutes from Publix? How how far? Jenn: I know, but I'm telling you, Erica, this was this was the priority today was making sure we got recorded and you know, and then I gotta get kids. So Erica: I know, I heard you almost ditch me for not mahjong, but you were good, you chose me. Jenn: I know, I know, and I didn't do that. I didn't do that. So Erica: Jen is doing good with Mahjong. That's pretty been pretty consistent too. Although today's not the group today well. Yeah. Jenn: Yes. Yeah. I'm gonna miss the f no, it was literally just practice. It was just, you know, trying to get better. It's so much fun. I I know you don't live right around the corner, but I need you to start learning so that we can all play. It is really fun. Yeah. Erica: Yeah. I am going to I read all the rules. I read all the rules. I Jenn: Yeah. Erica: haven't yet played yet. Jenn: Get on the app or something, get an app and then start Erica: Yeah. Jenn: practicing. Erica: That's where I read all the rules. I read the rules on the app 'cause Jenn: Yeah. Erica: it says like learn how to play. So I went on the app and I learned I read all the rules. I have got to tell you, I made a rookie mistake and Jenn: Okay. Erica: So we're going to Islamorada in a few weeks and this lizard has not had any sun recently, so I'm getting a little pale. And I I haven't been pale in a long time. Jenn: Right. Right. Right. I'm already pale. I've been pale. So Erica: Yeah. Well I have I if I use self tanner I usually just put it on my face. I don't put it on my body. But I'm like Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: I get I need a little bit on the body. And Jenn: Mm. Erica: I didn't wear gloves last night. Jenn: Okay. Erica: Sorry, I know I just plot twisted, but I looked at my fingernails and they're all yellow. I look like I was digging Jenn: Yeah. Erica: in something. Jenn: So you have orange fingers from yourself tanner. Erica: Yeah, it looks it's disgusting. Now 'cause I was I took my nails off, I was giving them a little bit of a break. Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: And now I have to do nails 'cause I look like I was digging in urine or something. I don't Jenn: Digging in the dirt. Erica: know. I was playing with turmeric or something. I don't know. Jenn: The amount of prep Erica: Ver Jenn: that you have to do, or well, the the amount of prep that you feel like you have to do, I completely understand because it's, you know, it's an out of town trip and it's about to be your birthday. So I totally get it. But man, I am white and I'm like, I don't know that I have it in me right now to even try. Erica: Well, I'm not I'm not getting a spray tan. I don't like spray tans. I feel like I tan myself better. Jenn: Yeah. I like it because of the f sheer ease of it all. if somebody's coming to do it either at my house or I'm gonna go get it done, like it's Erica: Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Jenn: done in one fell swoop and I don't have to do it myself, and get winded. 'cause that's a thing. you know, getting winded from Erica: Yeah, yeah. Jenn: from self tanner is is real. Erica: Well, and then if it rains, if it you Jenn: Yeah. Erica: know how you're like it's your day to go get a tan? And then it's raining and you're like Yeah. Jenn: yeah, yeah. How do I bundle up so that I don't get the the self tanner on anything or have it drip anywhere? Because yeah. Erica: Yeah. That the spray tan, yeah. So that's the only nice thing about cell tanner is I feel like you have a little bit more flexibility, Jenn: Yes. Yeah. Agreed. Erica: speaking of Islam Rada, I bought a shirt that says it's a bad day to be a beer. Jenn: Okay. Erica: Okay, I I'm not one to buy shirts with sayings on But I apparently Jenn: Yes. Erica: I've been attracted to them lately. I don't know why. Jenn: You have, you have. the number of looks and discussions that were had about your shirt at the Teddy Swims Erica: My Barbie shirt? Jenn: at the Teddy Swims concert was so funny to me. It was so good. I mean it was a great shirt. My mom loved it. Everybody I talked to, they were like, That's a great shirt, you know. But it was so funny. Erica: It was so funny. So I I got this shirt and I got it in the mail and I tried it on and it's so cute on. Jenn: Yeah. Erica: I'm I'm really excited. I hope it works out. But going back to the Teddy Swims concert real quick before we I wanted I do want to talk a little bit about that. Jenn: Yes. Erica: I was so embarrassed. So I don't know if everybody saw it, but if you go to the Erica and Jen page, you see a picture of us, and I had a purple shirt on, and it had a picture of a Barbie. with a stink Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: face, drinking, I would say a vodka cranberry, whatever, in her hand, and she was d dancing, making a stink face. And so I'm like excited to wear this shirt to go to the concert. And then I forgot we were going to a really nice steak dinner prior to the concert. I was so embarrassed to walk in that steak dinner with that shirt on. Jenn: But the thing is the thing is that place is so used to it. they're used to the the concert Erica: I thank God. Jenn: goers. Yeah, it it was fine. I didn't yeah, I thought it was fine. No, Erica: Everybody's dressed nice and here comes this ratchet girl with this Barbie shirt on. Get her out. Get her out. Jenn: the the t shirt was perfect. and the concert was so much fun. I mean, if if people didn't see Erica: Thanks so much, Fat. Jenn: the the sheer just excitement I was so excited to be at that to to be at that concert. It was such a blast. I loved it. It was Every moment. It was so great. Erica: We and and you like Teddy Swims is it for you. I feel like that's your guy. Yeah. No, it was awesome. I Jenn: That was it. That was it. Yeah. Yeah. Erica: was the one thing I was a little bit shocked about though is I was a little shocked that there were a lot of retirees, an older generation there. And everybody was sitting. There were there were Jenn: Yes, I know. I know, I know. Erica: a lot of people sitting, which I get. His music is not he doesn't have a lot of upbeat songs. He has a few, but Jenn: Yeah. Right. Erica: it it was it was a a little weird for me 'cause everybody was sitting and we got Jenn: I know. Erica: yelled at a few times to sit. And I did sit, but I was also like, I wanna stand because I'm at Teddy swims. You know what I mean? Jenn: fussed out to sit down and I was like I'm not doing that so Erica: No, you didn't sit down. I don't think you sat down. Jenn: I think I sat down like one time and then I thought I was gonna be really sore because after Taylor Swift I had I went to Taylor Swift a couple years ago and I was so sore from dancing after that but I wasn't very sore I must be doing something right. I guess I guess that's Erica: 'cause you've been getting after it at the gym. Yeah, at the gym. Jenn: what we're trying. Yeah that must be it. So Erica: I will I will say though, it was I loved when we were going to that concert. We arrived in Orlando and we got ready. We went Jenn: Mm. Mm-hmm. Erica: to a really nice steak dinner. And then we went to the concert, had a great concert, and Jenn: Yes. Yep. Yep. Erica: then we left, we went for one drink afterwards at the rooftop bar at our hotel, and then we went to bed. I'm telling you, that was the best. Like as a 40 year old, that's where it's at. That's Jenn: Yes. Erica: where it's at. Like I want a nice dinner. It's like it's like an experience 'cause you're we were there for two and a half hours or something like that. You Jenn: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Erica: get a whole experience and then you go into the concert, your belly's full, you're feeling good, you enjoy the concert, little nightcap, and then bed. It was awesome the whole night. Jenn: Yep. Yep. Yep. Well I I didn't go to bed. Erica: Jen, what? Jenn: I didn't go to bed until two in the morning. I didn't go to bed until two in the morning. Erica: What do you mean? What? What were you doing? In the rooftop you didn't even have a drink. You were s falling asleep in the chair. Your eyes were bloodshot because you were tired. Jenn: I know. Erica: What did you do? D did you guys stay up and just chat in the room? Jenn: I st we stayed up and yes, we stayed up. I we st we stayed in two different rooms for people from to give them context. yes, you you we we you and me. Erica: Yeah. You and I, yes. You and I stayed in two different rooms, yeah. Yeah. Jenn: yeah, we stayed up until two in the morning talking about God only knows what. I mean w I do know what, but we just kept talking and talking and I was like, I gotta go to bed finally. Erica: Finally, we went to Jenn: It was Erica: the bed room like at eleven. Jenn: I know. I know. And then Erica: Okay. Jenn: then I Erica: You Jenn: know. This actually brings brings a great topic up because here's the thing. So I do this, Erica: what? Jenn: I stay up until two in the morning. We get up in the morning. I actually got up at like I don't know, seven thirty, eight o'clock, something like that. So I didn't even sleep in really. And then get home, get get breakfast, get home. And then I literally got into pajamas, laid in my bed for an hour before picking up my youngest from school. And I was like, Okay, that's all I that's all I get today. One hour of of a nap. And then I had to hit the ground running again. We had a bunch of i activities all weekend long. So it kind of killed me a little bit. But Erica: my God, you can't do that to yourself! Jenn: I know. No, I know. That's the thing. I feel like I'm either all the way in or I'm very much all the way out. It's just Erica: Well Jenn: no no in between. Erica: saying you want to do this because I feel like the friend the girlfriend that you were staying with in the room you guys do Jenn: Yeah. Erica: do like stay up and chat quite often in in Jenn: Yeah. Erica: where you live but you can't even Irish Jenn: 'Cause she's just around the corner. Erica: yeah but you can't even Irish exit that situation. She's she was in your she's Jenn: Nope. Nope. Nope. I couldn't I couldn't Erica: basically in your bed. Jenn: Correct. I couldn't just go to sleep. Erica: my god. I was surprised 'cause the next morning it was like eight thirty and I didn't hear from you and you and I are early risers. Jenn: I know. It's bad. It's really bad. Erica: Wild. You're a wild wild lady. Jenn: I know. I know. When did we become these people? Erica: I don't know. But your mom came into town this weekend? Jenn: she did, and we had a great time. She was here to see all of the festivities. We had a my oldest had a dance to go to. We had a Halloween party. We went out to the springs and had a whole day at the springs. So it was very jam-packed. but one thing I didn't know that my mom was gonna take part in. was on Saturday we had this Halloween party and she was just gonna stay back with the boys and my aunt was in town as well. and so they were gonna hang out and like watch movies or whatever. Well we get to the Halloween party and like ten minutes in, the two of them show up fully in costume at the Halloween party. They Erica: No. Jenn: snuck into the house They snuck into the house. And here's the thing, I know they're not gonna care, they're gonna listen to this. They're not gonna care because I told the host that this happened and she was laughing hysterically. But yeah, they snuck in as Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf, which went with the theme that we were going with. And so they had no idea. Erica: my god. Jenn: Nobody in the in the house knew who they were because one of them had a full big bad wolf mask on, and then the other one was covered with her like Red Riding Hood cloak. It was amazing. Erica: my God. Did you when you saw them Jenn: It was amazing. I had no idea. No, I had no idea. They walk up to me and I was like, what in the world? And then I look and it's my mom's like sort height. She's four eleven. So I look at and I was like, What are you doing here? It was so funny. They Erica: What did you end up going as? Jenn: we had a little ensemble. it was a friend of ours was basically hellbent on being Lord Farquad from Shrek. Couldn't stop talking about it. So he went as Lord Farquad. his wife went as the fairy godmother from Shrek. So she had purple Erica: Mm. Jenn: hair and a red sparkly dress, very cute. And then my husband went as Erica: cute, okay. Jenn: Shrek. And that costume was that costume was in itself such a joke because of course we get it all from Amazon, But it came in and it was like meant for somebody that was I I don't know, six four and he is not six four. So we had to Erica: Yeah. Jenn: like sort of finagle it to make it fit right. And then I went as the gingerbread man we're from Shrek. Yeah. So we kinda had our own little Erica: cute. Nice, nice. Jenn: posse of people and so yeah, it was fun. Erica: There are a couple costumes out that so I'm not dressing up as Halloween. but I saved a few for next year that I'm never gonna go back to. Jenn: Mm-hmm. Okay. Erica: yeah, 'cause you know how you save everything on Instagram and you're like yeah you Jenn: Right. And you'll never see it again. Yeah. Right. Erica: Never gonna see it again. there was one with two friends. One of the friends was a disco ball and had like Jenn: Okay. Erica: complete silver, and the friend was like in a fur coat, like dr dancing around her. So I thought was cute. And then the other husband and wife one that I thought is cute is the husband is a Debbie cake, and the wife is Debbie. Jenn: That one was really cute. I saw that. Erica: 'Cause that's the Jenn: Right. Erica: thing is there's a lot of cute costumes out there, but you need it needs to fit the dynamic of the relationship as far as body types and everything, Jenn: Right. Right. I like Well, and I like the creativity of that. and that's the other thing. My mom came in super clutch with the gingerbread man. I wouldn't have been able to do it without her. She helped me put it all together and sew it and all that stuff. I was like, yeah, this this wasn't gonna work. I wasn't gonna be able to do that. After staying up until two in the morning, I would have never made it. Erica: I love how crafty she is. Yeah. Jenn: I was like dead to the world. Erica: I love how crafty she is and honestly I it's the cost it looked amazing. You look super cute. I saw the picture in the Jenn: Yeah. Yeah. It was fun. Erica: So may we should say it again that Jen and I live in different cities and we Jenn: Yes. Erica: usually on the weekends or when we're on vacations we don't usually chat as much than we do during the week. So we Jenn: Right. Yeah. Erica: usually like to catch up the following week. So Jenn: Yes. So this this has been good too. normally we actually didn't even talk yesterday, which is not normal. We usually at least talk on Mondays about things, but we didn't. So Erica: Well, your mom was still there. Jenn: That's true. Yes. My mom didn't leave until the morning. So Erica: Yeah. I didn't know what time she was leaving, but I you said she was still there, so I was trying to let you enjoy her. You I love her. I love her. Jenn: Mm-hmm. I know, and we had the art walk. I'm telling you, this weekend was jam packed and it's just gonna continue to be that way. We've we hit October and it's like there's just something every single day, I feel like. Erica: I have literally cleared my entire fall schedule where we don't have like like we have some little things planned, but we don't have Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: anything Sunday we woke up and we just like organized, we cleaned the house, did stuff that we don't normally do, like organization wise, like I reorganized Max's playroom and stuff like that. Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: And it was just really nice to like dive into that type of stuff, you know. Jenn: Yeah. Yeah. When you have the time to Erica: I just Jenn: do it, yeah. Erica: Yeah. I've just been saying no to some more plans and Jenn: Well, that's good. That's good. Hey, at least at least you have the ability to do that. Erica: Yeah. It was just it was a busy summer and I'm just still recovering, Jenn: Okay. at least it's not you're not overcommitted and then not able to take part in the event. You know what I mean? Like you're not saying, hey, I'm Erica: Yeah. Jenn: gonna go to this and then I'm only gonna be there for a short amount of time and not committing to the actual event and being able to fully participate, you know? I feel Erica: Yeah. Jenn: like that's Feel like I see that sometimes where where Erica: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Jenn: it's like people feel like they have to commit to 12 different things, but then they're not Erica: Yeah. Jenn: really fully participating in all 12 of those. Does that make sense? Erica: Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Jenn: I just feel like at this age, I'm just and again, I am not like I say at this age, but I'm not wise. by any means. I just feel like a if I'm going to put any time into something, I may as well want to be doing it. Otherwise don't go. It's it's Erica: Right. Jenn: just wild to me. I don't know. Erica: Well, when things get over complicated, I've learned to to not make this complicated? Or you were just saying, if I over schedule things so I'm trying to commit to a thousand things, Jenn: Yeah. Erica: I get s I get stressed because I'm Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: trying to give a hundred percent to everything and you just it's physically impossible to do that. you just can't. Jenn: Right. Right. Erica: mentally, I've just learned it that just doesn't work for me and I don't want Jenn: Yeah. Erica: to be in that stressful situation. So I've learned Jenn: Right. Erica: to Just say no or do Jenn: Say no. Exactly. Erica: or change some things around. Like I'll do this, but I'm not gonna do this that's attached with it or something like that, you know? So the only Jenn: Right, right, right. No, I'm a big proponent of that. Erica: So I feel like moving on to when you travel. I feel Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: like when you travel, I don't like having a strict itinerary where it's like when because if I end up somewhere and I'm having fun, I don't want to feel like I have to leave to go do something else. You know what I mean? But Jenn: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Erica: I do feel like when you're going on vacation, there needs to be somewhat of a plan because it also sucks Jenn: Yes. Erica: being on vacation and being like, what are we gonna do now? Jenn: Right. Erica: So I did make, I don't even know what I'm gonna call it. It's not an itinerary, but I made like a plan for Islamorada kind of how the days might look. Jenn: Okay. Well, I think I think that certain vacations need to be more planned. Erica: Stupid, but it makes me happy. Jenn: No, it's fine. I think certain vacations need to be more planned and others don't. And I think it really is a lot of like location based too. You know, I mean, if we go Erica: yeah, a hundred percent, yeah. Jenn: overseas, you've got to have a plan because you're in a different time zone. You've got to hit the ground running. You gotta be doing all the things, you've got to figure out what kind of sites you're trying to see or what shops you're trying to hit up or whatever. But like for Erica: Yeah. Jenn: this, I feel like there's a lot more flexibility. I'm glad that there's an itinerary so we have an idea of what to expect. That that's good. But I I'm also glad that it sounds like it's gonna be pretty flexible. Erica: Yeah. anybody can really do what they want. But Jenn: Yeah. Erica: you and I are both going to New York over the next couple months. And I feel like Jenn: Yes. Erica: a city, even New York, you need to have somewhat of an itinerary. Because New Jenn: You have to have a plan. Right. And reservations. Erica: York you a hundred percent. You won't get in anywhere. You're gonna be on a line. And Jenn: Yes. Right. Right. Erica: also even experiences like tickets run out, they sell out, or they go Jenn: I know, I know. Erica: super pricey because you're buying them last minute. So it's like it Jenn: At the last minute, yeah. Yeah. Erica: stinks but the cities like that you have to unfortunately have a strict itinerary because you're trying to do all and you're Jenn: Right. Well, and even just Erica: trying to do all the things. Jenn: even just mapping out where it is that you're trying to go because you don't want to be all the way up in, the upper east side and then have a different spot that's planned on the lower west. It just it doesn't work that way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So Erica: Financial district, yeah. Yeah. No, I agree. But I have some other things up my sleeve too. I'm excited. Jenn: For what for what? Erica: I my Islamorada trip. I'm not telling anybody though. in that you're not even in that circle. Yeah. Jenn: Okay. So we're gonna just tease we're gonna tease it and not say a damn word. Got it. Okay. Great. Erica: Yeah, well you did that last week with me with your Halloween costume, so now you know how it feels. Jenn: And then I promptly told you off air. So it was fine. Erica: No you didn't. Jenn: Yes I did! Erica: What was it? Jenn: I told you in a voice text. I told you in a voice text 'cause I told you I was gonna be the gum the gingerbread man and you were like, that's not part of Shrek. I was like, Yes it is. Erica: No, you plot twisted. You were going to be something else, but you said you didn't have time to make it. Jenn: yeah, that's true. I was gonna be the magic mirror, but there's no way there's no Erica: See? See? That. Jenn: way I would have been able to do that. I had like Erica: Yeah. Jenn: a whole thing with foam board and all this stuff that I was gonna do. And then I was like, I literally I got home on Friday dead to the world. I was like, There's no way. There's no way. Erica: See, th this is one of those things that I kinda laugh because we all wanna do DIY. But it's like sometimes Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: DIY the time it you the time and effort and money sometimes it Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: costs you to make these things, you're like, I could have just bought that shit. I could've just bought it. Jenn: Yeah. Right. Right. Exactly. Which is what ended up happening. I was like, wow, I could buy a pair of brown overalls and just put some rick rack on it and call it a day, which is what happened. And I was a heck of a lot more comfortable. I'll tell you that much. It was great. Erica: my god, did you buy farmer overalls? Jenn: they were just corduroy overalls from Amazon. They were 25 bucks. It was great. Yeah. Yeah. Erica: Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Jenn: So. Erica: I Halloween has never been one of my fav good I know some people love Halloween. It's not for me. And Thanksgiving's really not either. I think my favorite holiday is most people is is Christmas, but I think it's the magic of the family coming together on that holiday is what I love so much. I love my ultimate joy in life is giving. I love to give gifts and see people Jenn: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Erica: happy about get getting the gift. That joy that I bring to somebody is what I live for. and obviously I have the three kids, so gets me enjoy that. And then gifts that I buy the adults, it's just it that brings me I love finding the gifts. I love Black Friday shopping and I love giving the gifts and seeing people happy. even even my day to day when I go to like the stores and I buy stuff for my husband and my son and I just randomly I say my son 'cause I can't buy for my daughter. But when I buy them stuff and I give it to them, I just make it fills my cup a little bit. Jenn: So you you genuinely giving gifts, like physical gifts. Yeah. Yeah. No, and that's Erica: Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah. I don't need it back either. I'm not one of those people that I'm like, I'm giving you a gift and I expect something back. if you don't give me a gift back, I'm okay with that. I j my gift is seeing you getting the gift. Yeah. But I'm like Jenn: No, I know. I know. I know that about you. Yeah. Yeah. Erica: yes, so I yes, that fills my cup. Jenn: Yeah. I enjoy giving gifts when I have found something that's really like on brand for that person or something that I know they're really going to like, but I struggle with gift giving. It's not my it's not my love language just because I'm constantly trying to find like the perfect thing. I think it's a perfectionism thing, Erica: Yeah. Jenn: you know? Erica: No, it no, because I go down that rabbit hole too. I over I a hundred percent overthink it. I Jenn: Yeah. Erica: have to I analyze that person. Well I'm a Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: I'm an observer, like that's my personality. So I observe people so deeply that and then I see something, and sometimes I am looking for that perfect yet, and when I don't see it, I get frustrated with myself. And then I'm searching the world wide web for weeks and it drives me nuts. So I'm not Jenn: Right, right. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Erica: saying it's not I don't reach those challenges. But yes, I but once I find it and I get excited or if I have a thought in my head forget it. It's going to So but if Jenn: Right. Right. It's yeah, it's almost like you Erica: I ever give you a gift and you don't like it, Jen, you're gonna tell me you love that shit. Jenn: Well, I always have. That's the thing. I always have liked the gifts. Erica: I just I I just I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. Jenn: I will say, okay, aside from like my friends, all right, listen, kids have a lot of birthday parties, right? You know, you've got the class birthday parties and you've got the, you know, the neighborhood birthday parties and all that stuff. And I love that. That's great. But I will say there's a lot of them. And so I will I I'm gonna rat myself out, but one of my hacks Is that I go and I just buy Target gift cards in bulk. Erica: Yeah. Jenn: And that's the gift. I have a stack of cards and I've got Target gift cards and they're ready to go because here's the thing: I just can't. I can't. I mean ultimately, hope that all the kids look at it and they're like, yes, I get to go to Target and get whatever I want, you know? But Erica: Yeah. Jenn: I just, to me, it's too hard to figure out what each individual kid, especially if I don't know the kid really well, what each individual kid is gonna want. So Erica: Yeah. Jenn: life hack bulk cards and bulk gift cards. Erica: Listen, there is not a person on this planet that does not love a gift card. Unless it's from some random place they don't ever go to, but there is not a person or child Jenn: Right. Right. Right. Erica: that does not love a gift card. Some people prefer gift cards because they can just buy what they want to buy. So Jenn: Right. Erica: I I think it's a great idea. I sometimes like if I see something that I love, I will buy like three or four or five of those items. Yeah. Yeah. Jenn: Multiples. Yeah, I do that too. Yeah, I do that too. Erica: I was just with my girlfriend and we were in Dillards and they were like Lilly Pulitzer towels that were like on sale and she bought bulk because she was like, Who doesn't want a Lilly Pulitzer towel? I'm sorry, but if you live in Florida, you need everybody wants a beach towel. Everybody wants a beach. Jenn: Mm-hmm. Who who doesn't need a exactly a pool towel or exactly pool or beach towel? Yep. Erica: Everybody wants one because they go through them like crazy, you know? Jenn: Yep. They get lost. Exactly. Yeah. All of that. Erica: Stolen, lost at a kid's house. But the teacher gifts when my kids were in school and all of that, that that whole situation, the class and the teacher, and then Jenn: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Erica: when they're younger, it's the multiple teachers, that whole situation stresses me out. So I'm right there with you Jenn: Mm-hmm. Yeah. It's a lot. Erica: where the gift the gift cards are like the best ideas. Jenn: Ready to go. Yeah. Just be able to Erica: A hundred per second. Every teacher wants a gift card, by the way. Teachers Jenn: Exactly. Erica: want a gift card. They don't want a pencil with their name on it. They don't want or tree Jenn: They don't want another mug. They don't need another mug. Erica: or a tree ornament. They want a gift card. Saying that. I'm being very clear here. Jenn: Nope. Nope. Exactly. Because ultimately they don't wanna they don't wanna feel like they have this obligation. This sounds really bad. To keep yeah, exactly, to keep the item years after year, Erica: To keep the item. No, I know. No, I had that. Yeah. Jenn: you know. I mean, there's a select few ornaments that I have received over the years that I have kept. They don't always make it on the tree. Erica: Wait, wait, wait, wait. What did you just say? Jenn: There's a select view. Erica: Of what what product? Jenn: Of or of or ornaments? What did you think I said? What what did you think I said? Erica: It must have broke up my I thought you pronounced I thought you pronounced it wrong. I I Jenn: no. No there's Erica: I thought you said ormaments and I'm like, what? Good. Jenn: No, no. No, there's a few ornaments over the years that kids have given me that I have saved. They don't always make it on the tree, but there are some that are still like in our big ornament basket or whatever that I've saved over the years. But most of them are really sweet where they've handmade them or there's something really nice that's the that was said about me and I have that, but that's that's it. And I Erica: a favorite student, I'm not trying to be mean, but if there was a certain student that touched your heart or something and they made something for you, that might be, a certain memory Jenn: Right. Right. Erica: you'd want to keep. So I can see that. Jenn: Yeah. I tried not to play favorites, but there were definitely kids over the years that there's there's all kinds of kids that make that mark on you over the years. Yeah, for sure. Erica: Yeah. I don't think yeah, I don't think there's teachers like they want to have favorites, but Jenn: Yeah. Erica: I just feel like there are some kids and not necessarily the kids that's the best in the class. It could just be a kid that it also walks a life, yes, that just touch your heart for whatever reason, I I Jenn: That you think about, mm hmm. Yep. Yep. Yep. Right. Yep. Yep. Erica: couldn't do it. I couldn't do it. I could not be in the school system and not strong enough for it. Jenn: It's hard and it can be all all consuming. And that's that's what I I feel for teachers all the time with that. It can Erica: I I wouldn't no. Jenn: be it can really take over, especially in tough schools, which you know, I started in some of Erica: No, I can't do it. Jenn: the tough schools and it was really hard to see, you know, some of the behind the scenes of what these kids go through, and then we're expecting them to perform at a certain level. It is so incredibly tough. So Erica: I would adopt I would adopt I couldn't I wouldn't be able to live my life I wouldn't be able to Well and then you Jenn: You want to. You basically want to adopt them all and buy them everything and take care of them and you can't and it's just it's heartbreaking at times. Yeah. Erica: Well, and then it makes you feel guilty to, if you want to go home and go to a steak dinner, you're like, I'm going to the steak dinner and this kid is ate lunch at school and he's not even going to eat lunch. He's not even to see food again until his next lunch at school. I couldn't live with that. I I it would destroy my life. I can't do it. Yeah. I can't you guys all Jenn: Right. Right. It is heartbreaking. Yes, it is. It's so hard. Yeah. Erica: teachers are very strong. I couldn't I yeah, I couldn't do it. Jenn: I know. It's so hard. props to all the teachers that are still out there making a difference. And I'm glad that we have that. Erica: Well, that's the silver lining. Yes, that's the silver lining is that the teachers that are teaching still and that that teacher probably saves some of those kids' lives, you know what I mean? 'Cause those Yeah. Jenn: A hundred percent. And they're certainly not in in there doing it for the money, 'cause that ain't it. Erica: Yeah. Jenn: That ain't it. I'll tell you that much. Ugh. Erica: Danny and I were at a pasta making class. the gift that you gave me last year for my birthday. Jenn: Yeah, yeah. Erica: and there was a teacher that was teaching the class and she was Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: a history teacher and she said that an is a span of a teacher is probably three years. Jenn: The average at this point. Is that what you're saying? Yeah. I Erica: Yeah. Yes. Jenn: don't know what the statistics look like, but I will say it is not for the faint of heart. You really have Erica: Yeah. Jenn: to love it and you really have to you know, you have to put a lot of your own comfort and priorities aside, which is part of why I left. I mean, it was either commit even more time to the school system than I already was putting in. Which was a lot, or, you know, take a step back and be able to have a little bit more sanity and be with my family a little bit more, which is ultimately what I chose. So yeah. Erica: Y the words that you just spoke is like how I feel about real estate. It's just different. I mean I did Yeah. Jenn: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because you r no, it's I I but you can definitely draw parallels. it's Erica: Yeah. Jenn: it's hard, man. It's it's hard being a woman and having a full time job and doing all of the all of the things and having those expectations put on you and not feeling like you can't do it all. So yeah. Erica: yes, a hundred percent. Well in everybody thinks real estate's just opening doors and showing the houses and they don't the girl that recruited Jenn: It's so much more than that. Erica: me said it's an emotional roller coaster. And a hundred percent Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: it's an emotional roller coaster. Though your clients will take every ounce you have left in you and they will rob you of it. And they just they feel like you owe them and bow down on your knees to them and it's hard 'cause it's emotionally draining. Yeah. Jenn: It's a service. It's I think the parallel too is like it's they're both service industry you're still in that service when you're in real estate. I think that that that's why there's such a a strong parallel. 'Cause you're having to deal with people. That's Erica: Yeah. Jenn: you know. Erica: Yeah. Well in our industry Jenn: You're not sitting behind a computer just doing coding or whatever. Erica: No, and I feel like our industry, I do feel like a lot of people don't have respect for real estate agents as the good ones. Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: I understand there's there's a pool of them out there, but the r s the good ones people don't have respect for a real estate agent in general, I feel like, because it's Jenn: Well, 'cause they don't know what you're doing behind the scenes. They don't have Erica: No. Jenn: that that concept of where that percentage of you selling their house or, you know, whatever the case may be where that percentage is is really coming from, you know? So and even I mean, Erica: Mm. Yeah. It's Jenn: I don't I didn't have that concept until you and I were closer friends, Erica: And you listened to all my venting. Jenn: Well, but truly, you just y you don't necessarily know until you have somebody and you're like, that's wow, that's a lot that you have to take care of. Yeah. Erica: Yeah. Jenn: So Erica: And how long you have to take care of it, yeah. Especially in this market. Jenn: Right. And at all hours. Erica: All hours. Jenn: Yeah. Yeah. Erica: Vacations, it doesn't stop. It's wild. There is no shutting it off. Jenn: Right. Right. Erica: yeah, it's just crazy. one question what Jenn: go ahead. so going back to this weekend for a second, you have been out to the springs before, right? They're Erica: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Jenn: the springs are beautiful. They've got the rope Erica: Mm-hmm. Jenn: swings and they've got, you know, an area for food and picnics and a hot tub and a slide and all this cool stuff, right? have you ever done the rope swing? Erica: No, I'm scared. I'm not scared of the rope swing. I'm scared I won't be able to hold myself through the swing 'cause you're high up. You did it. Were you scared? Jenn: Did it. I was so scared, but guess who did it first? Erica: Who? Jenn: Mom. Erica: Shut up. She went before you? Jenn: My mom my mom did it first and I was like, Well shit, now I really have to do it Erica: Did she have fun? Jenn: She had so much fun and she was fine. I was so worried she was gonna get hurt and I I was worried I was gonna get hurt, but she did it and I was so happy, that we both did and we went off the high one. There's a really high platform and we both did the high platform. It was so scary. I know. Erica: Well, because you're dropping pretty high and you have to hold your body weight. Jenn: Yes, and you do. You have to hold your body weight the whole time to get out to the spot where you're gonna then drop down. Yeah. There were a couple of belly flops of not me. Erica: That's what scares me. Jenn: I didn't belly flop not one single time, but there were definitely some people that did. I was so Erica: think my husband did one time. Jenn: Yeah. yeah. I mean, I feel like if you're if you don't know what to expect, I feel like that's what happens no matter what. But I was a little worried. I was like, okay, I've been working on my my pull-ups. I think I can do this. Just don't belly flop, just hold on for dear life, and everything was fine. But you know, it it's I mean, I know we've talked about this quite a bit, but it's like thinking as we get older, like the last thing I need is to like rip out my shoulder 'Cause it's a lot harder to recover from what's that? Erica: But it's not bad to think that. it's true, but it's not it's not y you should be thinking about that. Do you know how many times Jenn: I know, I know. Erica: it was fifteen years later I went to do a cartwheel and I almost faceplanted the ground. Well, now I can, because I'm like, when I you go to do it and you haven't done a cartwheel in so long, and then you go to do it and then you realize that, my God. Now I'm like, okay. Or a handstand. Jenn: I know. It makes me nervous. I feel like I could do it. I feel like I could do a cartwheel. But at the same time, I'm like, ooh, but I have broken my elbow before. So maybe we don't need to Erica: Wait a minute. Jenn: do that. Erica: When's the last time you've done a cartwheel? Jenn: I don't know, honestly. Could not tell you. I don't think so. I don't think so. Erica: we're doing this. I'm coming down this no. No. I'm coming down no shush. I'm coming down this week. I'm gonna drop off the South Park socks that your kids need for Halloween and we're gonna do record you doing a cartwheel for the people in the back. Jenn: No, because no, y what, you're gonna spot me? What if I fall? What if I break something? Erica: Am I spotting you? What do you mean? Are they spotting you? Jenn: need to break my elbow again. I don't need to break my elbow again. I don't think I'm doing that. Erica: How do you break how did you even break your elbow when you're doing a car wheel? Jenn: We don't need it No, I didn't break it doing a cartwheel. I'm saying I've broken it before, so the last thing I need to do is break Erica: You're Jenn: it again. Erica: No, it's fine. It's more shoulder work. What are you doing with your elbow? It's shoulder. If you can do the rope swing you Jenn: No. What if you fall and it cracks funky? Erica: No Jesus, Jen. You're gonna do a little You're gonna do a little baby one and then you're gonna do a little bit bigger and then you're gonna do it. we're gonna do it. You got it. Jenn: Okay. I also don't have a good spot really to do this in my yard. So Erica: Well all right, we don't need w you have a front yard, but you have a beautiful front yard. Jenn: I'm not doing it in the front yard. Erica: Chi you have nobody around you. Jenn: People that drive by all the time. Go out there and start practicing random cartwheels? No, ma'am. No. Erica: Wait, a car wheel takes two seconds. No. A car wheel takes two seconds, Jen. You act like it's a whole p hour process that we're gonna be like doing these flips. Jenn: It might be a two hour process for me. You don't know. Erica: You're underestimating yourself. Get out of here. Shut up. Jenn: Okay. We'll see. I don't know about this. We're gonna table this for later. Erica: No. I'll call Jenny over, she'll spot you. Jenn: There we go. I just need a spot. I just need somebody to come over and make sure I don't fall and crack my head open. Okay. That's all. Erica: That fem that female will be doing front and back flips. She's like a little ninja. Jenn: Straight up gymnast. Straight up. One day I aspire to be her. One day. I know. It's never gonna happen. I know. Erica: Yeah, well that's not where I love you, that's not happening. We're neither of us. Listen, I was thinking about it today at the gym. I was like Jenn: Biceps have biceps. So mine don't. But we're working on it. Erica: Every piece of her body is muscle. Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: all right. But what I'm saying is when I was at the gym today, I was like, you know, there's girls that are working out that are muscular, and I'm like, listen, listen, I'm gonna be 40 and I'm doing this. You know what I mean? Like it could be worse. Like I'm doing Jenn: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Could be worse. Erica: this for longevity, like and for myself. Like I can't keep, you know, being like, I need it. Jenn: Harping on it. Yeah. Erica: No, and listen, back in the day, them If you look at those beach pictures from what Jenn: I know. Erica: nine nineteen forty, they were none of them were muscular and they all look good like we got this. Be healthy, Jenn: Yeah, we're fine. It's gonna be fine. I'm not worried about it. Erica: lift a little weight and stay lean. You got it. Jenn: Correct. Yep. Yep. Right there with ya. Erica: my god. So I got a little bit of an echo in my left ear. So yeah. Jenn: Still. Erica: Well, so not a lot of people know this, but I no, not last summer. The summer before that, I wrestled my cousin, it just happened after this, and I came home from Boston with a heartbeat in my ear. Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: And I had the heartbeat in my ear, I want to say eight months. It was super annoying because it was a constant heartbeat. And it would get louder and get faint, depending on doing whatever. it wasn't like Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: it didn't get louder every time I stood up and it didn't get louder every time I lay down. it literally was just random that I couldn't pinpoint it. I got I went and saw two different doctors. I got a C T scan. I thought I was dying. I thought I had a brain tumor. I was like, Why do I have this random heartbeat in my ear? I'm dying and then nobody could figure it out. It was eight months. And it was a constant heartbeat, right, Jen? It was a constant heartbeat. It never went away. Jenn: Mm-hmm. I wasn't in your brain. I couldn't hear it, but yes, that's what she said. Erica: Well, you heard me complain about it almost every day. Jenn: Right. Yes, yes, yes. Erica: And it was constant. this was not something that faded in and out. And I will tell you, I went on back in March, I went on the trisepatide and it's an anti-inflammatory. Like everybody says like everybody's against like all of that, you know, the GLP ones or whatever, because they think it's just for weight loss and all that stuff. But it's an anti-inflammatory. I went on that within two weeks, my heartbeat was gone. Jenn: Yeah, that's crazy. It's crazy. Yeah. And you still don't have it anymore, right? You still don't have it. Erica: Gone. Gone. And I'm not saying it it and I think that no, I still don't have it. And people you people hate against but these GLP ones because they think people just use it for weight loss. And I'm gonna say it is a tool in the toolbox. It shouldn't be the only tool being used because I still work out every day, I still eat healthy and all those things, but I will tell you when that re it reduced the inflammation, and I didn't even know it was inflammation. But when I went Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: on that and you you feel your body, you know what is the word I'm trying to use? Jenn: the that the inflammation was dissipating. Yes. Okay. Erica: And is going down. Yes, there you go. And you feel that, you feel it in your face and all of that. And then when that Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: heartbeat went away, I was like, Well, God be damn. I went and saw those doctors. I went to the hospital. I was taking all these tests. you're taking hearing tests. They were saying I was deaf in one ear. it was a lot going on for months. And that and I haven't got it back since. Because now I know what it is. Jenn: Yeah. But these headphones are really bothering you. Erica: Now I know what it is. Well Today I just have my ears clogged, when you go on a plane, my ears clogged and I can hear myself talk in between my ears, but I'm fine. Jenn: Yeah, yeah. Erica: But yeah, so but the point of the conversation is that everybody's against all these GLP ones, but if you use it as some people Jenn: Yes. There's other uses for them besides just that. Erica: Yes, and I have a thyroid condition and it is proven that it helps with the thyroid condition. Jenn: Mm-hmm. Erica: my numbers have gotten better, my cholesterol's gotten better, there's a whole situation going on. So people yeah. Jenn: Right. Right. lot of people that I've talked to have said the same thing. Their blood work has never been better when than when they're doing that. So I don't think that there's so much of a stigma a around it so much anymore. I feel like a lot of people have come out and said that they're using it or have used it or whatever. And I feel like that's not, it's not as taboo. everybody thought it was just like cheating to get skinny and Don't get me wrong, I do think that there are people out there that have used it in excess and gotten extremely, extremely thin to the point where I don't think it's healthy. but I I think that if it's something that your doctor is prescribing and you have a relationship with your doctor that is a good one where they're saying, this could be of benefit, I think that that's perfectly acceptable. Erica: such a low dose I wasn't even losing weight. I think a t I think a total Jenn: Yeah. Yeah. Right. Well, and I know you talked about that too. I didn't want to get into things that you didn't want to necessarily talk about. But yeah, you right. Right. Erica: Yeah, I you the thing is is like I didn't even necessarily lose weight. it was like six pounds. losing. Jenn: right, right. Erica: I still fit in the same clothes as I did last year. I just have don't have Jenn: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Erica: a heartbeat going dun dun dun dun dun dun d Jenn: Yeah. That would be that would be something I would have a really hard time with. Yeah. Yeah. Erica: Yeah. All right. Well. Jenn: All right. Well, I'm glad you don't have a heartbeat anymore. That's good. Sounds like Erica: Thanks. Jenn: it sounds really bad. I'm glad you don't have a heartbeat anymore. In your ear. Okay. Erica: Well, can I just say one more question? I mean, wait, I just want to say one more statement. Us women, all and as moms, you get super overstimulated already. So can you imagine Jenn: Yes. my god. Erica: the TV, the husband, the dishes banging, the heartbeat going? Jenn: Heartbeat. Mm mm. Erica: Like the stimulation for eight months that I had was unhealthy. Honestly, Jenn: Yes. Erica: now that I'm thinking about it, it's probably why I had cholesterol. Jenn: Probably. Probably. And part of all of the stress that you had going on. you had a stressful eight months for a little while. I remember several conversations and that might have been part of it. Erica: good Lord, good Lord. We're gonna get into that another day. Jenn: Yeah, yeah. Erica: before we go, we should s either start asking we should I wanted to ask you or maybe we should ask the audience about having someone special on the podcast so we can talk to them, ask them questions and see what people Jenn: Okay. Okay. Yep. Yep. Erica: have interest about. Jenn: Okay. Yeah. So maybe a little poll or something like that. Hey, submit your people. Is that what you're saying? Okay. Mm-hmm. Erica: Yeah. Yeah. And I would like to host the brunch on the podcast too. Jenn: Okay. All right. Gotta plan that one. Yeah. Erica: Don't you think that would be fun? We gotta volunte we gotta ask people who would wanna be on our brunch. Jenn: Yes. Well, we've got a couple of of ideas. You you and I already have a couple of ideas of who we want to have on. But yeah, absolutely. I'm down. Erica: Sounds good. Well thank you for joining us this week. Until next week. Jenn: Yes, thank you. All right. Bye. Erica: Talk to you soon. Bye.
