- 0:00Australians are recording and it appears the witnesses have
- 0:03spoken. We're going to be opening up our
- 0:05Minecraft world to the Witnesses.
- 0:09Welcome to Multiple Nerdgasm with your hosts Matt, Luke and
- 0:16Dan. Multiple Nerdgasm, Your guide to
- 0:20all things nerdy. Yeah.
- 0:29So I had one contact me directly.
- 0:31Matt's had a couple contact him. I don't know if you've had any
- 0:34additional contacts yourself. I haven't.
- 0:36Actually seems. Like.
- 0:37Playing. I need to get back into it
- 0:39though, but I do need to tell people.
- 0:41You've had at least one strip mine because there's some big
- 0:45holes in the ground. Yes, that that used to be
- 0:49completely flat, flat. And if you actually look at the
- 0:51other side of where it is, there's like a little jagged
- 0:55edges that what I turned that shrip mine into, that was like a
- 0:59little Canyon that was about two peaks spaces wide that just went
- 1:02down. And I just turned that into a
- 1:03shrip mine. But then the slime, the slime
- 1:08started appearing and it was, you couldn't mine it anymore.
- 1:11It was quite depressing. Let me know if you find any
- 1:15fucking iron ore. I'm I'm looking for iron ore.
- 1:18I'm looking like a like a motherfucker.
- 1:20I can't find any. I promise I will be getting back
- 1:22into it, especially now we've got Witnesses, but I do need to
- 1:24let them all know when playing vanilla.
- 1:26There's no mods, there's no creative, it's all claws to get
- 1:31me to play. I still need to be able to get
- 1:32achievements. Yeah, it's funny because when I
- 1:36see people online just posting pictures of their games, I'm
- 1:41like, that's no Minecraft I recognize.
- 1:44No, it's. The Minecraft we're playing
- 1:47still more or less reminds me of the Minecraft we played ten
- 1:50years ago. Yes, there's just some more
- 1:52things that have been added, but nothing, we're still just mining
- 1:56and building stuff. I forgot two things.
- 1:59I forgot how tranquil it was. When you're just the music's
- 2:02playing and you're just wandering around, you're on the
- 2:05beach punching sand or whatever you're doing.
- 2:08It's very tranquil. I also forgot how fucking
- 2:11addictive it is. Like I just lost hours.
- 2:14Just that's true mine because I just go in.
- 2:16I just try and find stuff. I'd go back, I'd put it back in,
- 2:19I'd try and like melt the iron down, give it to everyone.
- 2:22Did you go back every time, like every night?
- 2:26Yeah, yeah. Yep.
- 2:29Because I didn't want to. Lose once yeah, once I got away
- 2:32with staying in a mine overnight like I I was just like, I guess
- 2:36I was just luckily safe, but every other.
- 2:39Time the mind you. Can not only.
- 2:41Lose track of time because the monsters are there no matter
- 2:44what. Yeah, Oh yeah, man, I found a
- 2:47cave. I was out in the day and I found
- 2:49a cave and went in and there were fucking monsters in there.
- 2:51I was like, oh, this. I don't remember this from the
- 2:53game when we were playing just. The second there's no light,
- 2:55there can be monsters. I also don't remember it being
- 2:59quite so difficult to get rid of the monsters during the day.
- 3:03Yes, I kind of remember just daytime came out.
- 3:05They all started to explode. Now it's like if they're under a
- 3:08tree. I'm fucking safe here mate.
- 3:10You come, just wait for you. You walk near this tree, I'm
- 3:13coming at you. Just walk a little bit closer.
- 3:16Yeah, yeah, but be close enough to bits of your house so the
- 3:19bits of your house blow up too. Need to expand the fences out I
- 3:23think. Yes, that's right.
- 3:25That's what I'm trying to do. Very frustrating, but I've got
- 3:28putting pretty nice house near Matt's pretty nice house, and
- 3:31I've got a little little cubby on the other side.
- 3:34Did you do another mine? Because there's another big hole
- 3:36far away and I didn't know whether that was you doing
- 3:39something on purpose or just a big cave in.
- 3:42Sometimes there are mines where I've just been that may have
- 3:46been where I've come out because I'll just go down mine and I
- 3:49don't go back the same way, so I'll just mine out.
- 3:52Well, there's a little, there's a little cubby over near that.
- 3:54So if you ever do need shelter, you can.
- 3:56You can. Hide it so I know that one of
- 3:58the times I was mining up and then I had to abandon that
- 4:00tunnel because it started to flood because I dug up under the
- 4:04ocean. I tried to flood something and
- 4:07found it difficult because I tried to dig a Moat around my
- 4:10house and I find water. I don't want to sound flat
- 4:16earthy but water just didn't find its own level.
- 4:19Like I had to keep digging down on an incline for it to keep
- 4:21moving. In that you got to work out, you
- 4:23got to work out how to get a source block so you can do your
- 4:26own source block. But I don't know how that works
- 4:28either. Even when we did play Minecraft
- 4:3110 years ago, we weren't particularly great at it.
- 4:34No, but I remember it was easier to like you could just pick up a
- 4:37bucket and go and get water and pour it anywhere you want it
- 4:40now. Well, I mean, maybe it's that
- 4:42easy still, I don't know because I don't have any fucking metal
- 4:45to make my bucket out. I will get you some metal like.
- 4:47I'm in the stone. I'm literally living in the
- 4:49Stone Age. I'm still annoyed I haven't come
- 4:52back in since there was the catastrophe where I lost all
- 4:55that diamond and iron and gold. It's just, it's too depressing.
- 5:00Yeah. Walking around like a for.
- 5:02Sure. Iron diamond armour, it's going
- 5:05to be blinged up and. Oh man, I'd feel I'd I'd have to
- 5:10start playing completely differently if I had diamond
- 5:12armor. I'd have to be start playing
- 5:13very very cautiously compared to how I play now.
- 5:18Oh no, that's the whole idea. You're meant to be that little
- 5:20bit stronger. Just don't jump into lava.
- 5:24Yeah, yeah, I knew this would happen too.
- 5:27And I held out coming into this Minecraft because I saw you and
- 5:30Matt had gone in there and I knew you were having fun and I
- 5:32was feeling FOMO. But at the same time, I wanted
- 5:36to finish Resident Evil first because I knew if I got
- 5:39sidetracked from that. You can't go back to us and.
- 5:42Go back to it. Because even if you did go back,
- 5:45you'd be what was I doing? What are the controls again?
- 5:49But I didn't. I didn't get there in time.
- 5:52And now, not only have I started playing Minecraft, but I've also
- 5:56started playing Oblivion. That I cannot stop playing
- 6:00Oblivion at the moment. It's just too beautiful.
- 6:02It's I even love how you can just because I'm, I'm, I am
- 6:06speed running it a little bit like just using fast travel
- 6:09everywhere because fast travel is open from the start, which is
- 6:12great. Right.
- 6:13Yeah. So I'm just jumping between
- 6:15towns like I'm already head of the thieves Guild.
- 6:18No, I'm finishing the thieves Guild.
- 6:20I'm I'm part of. I'm head of the dark Brotherhood
- 6:24and I am the arch mage. So now I'm working on becoming,
- 6:29oh, I'm also the champion of the fighting arena, and now I'm
- 6:34going to become head of the Thieves Guild.
- 6:36I think contests the combat isn't quite as good maybe as
- 6:40Skyrim's combat, which was it to be expected, but quite honestly
- 6:44just about everything else is as good, maybe even better, better
- 6:49than Skyrim. Yep, not loving it.
- 6:51I know Matt's loving it. Matt's not here, by the way.
- 6:53Matt. I hate Matt here.
- 6:55Matt at the moment. I think he's at Gay Pride USA
- 6:58is. He is that where he is?
- 6:59He's at PAX West. No, PAX East, Yeah, where I want
- 7:03to be. He's having fun.
- 7:06It's a big pax too. They do a lot of stuff, a lot of
- 7:09more corporate stuff there as well.
- 7:10It's not all you know, but yeah, I'm, I'm having a bit of FOMO.
- 7:14Looking at this because they don't, yeah, they have a bit
- 7:16more there because they don't have to fly as much out as when
- 7:19you're coming to Australia, and Australia's a long way from
- 7:21every. And their local, yeah, they've
- 7:23got a bigger local scene as well, so yeah.
- 7:26Yeah, but yeah, so that's where Matt is.
- 7:27I hate him because he's having fun at PAX and I love PAX but
- 7:31we're going in October and he's going to miss out so.
- 7:33That's right. Although he's welcome to come, I
- 7:35keep telling him he's he's more than welcome.
- 7:38Please come, it'll be fun, yeah. Yeah, you got your badges.
- 7:43No, I won't get the badges for ages.
- 7:46No, but you've purchased. Oh yeah, yeah, definitely day
- 7:48one, get a three day pass. Yeah, I got it.
- 7:50Then hopefully we'll get media passes, but I'd never, I'd never
- 7:55go yes I will get them. But when I do get them ready
- 7:57passes, then I'll give my three day pass away to a listener.
- 8:00That's a good idea. That's a good idea.
- 8:02Yeah. Matt.
- 8:03Yeah. When Matt said during the week
- 8:05that Oblivion was better than Skyrim, I was like, OK, settle
- 8:08down, boy, settle down. But fuck me right from the
- 8:12start. We'll see, you know.
- 8:14I have a few. I don't think it's the fact
- 8:15that's better. I think it's just the fact that
- 8:18it's something different. Yeah.
- 8:20Like we've played Skyrim how many times it's.
- 8:22Almost like this is Elder Scrolls 6 because we played
- 8:26Skyrim for so long so many times.
- 8:28And we've repurchased it so many times.
- 8:30And you replay it. You know how it starts, you know
- 8:33what you're doing. This, I don't quite remember it.
- 8:35Same, same. And I remember some things about
- 8:38it that it'll not what I'm doing.
- 8:40I must have played it completely differently before.
- 8:44But yeah, I there's been a few times where I've had to go.
- 8:46How did I do this again? And back then when this came
- 8:49out, there was no quick Internet search for how what this was.
- 8:53Oh yeah, a few times where I've just got a bit lost.
- 8:55Hold on, where am I going? What was I meant to do?
- 8:58Yeah, I'll say this too. I like, I like fantasy novels,
- 9:03right? And you know, sword and sorcery,
- 9:05all of that stuff. I read a lot of that stuff and I
- 9:08like it when they do films in that genre.
- 9:11But honestly, there's not many good ones.
- 9:14Yeah, there's Lord of the Rings, there's the first Conan movie,
- 9:17there's one or two others. But really, I mean, there's some
- 9:20so bad it's good, like Beastmaster, which I love, but
- 9:23I'm not going to say it's a good movie.
- 9:25But games is where that genre fucking lives.
- 9:28Yes, because I'm not with movies, television, I don't, I
- 9:31don't do fantasy. I don't really get it.
- 9:33It's Dragons and magic like the closest I get.
- 9:36It's like the Discworld TV movies.
- 9:39That's because I like Discworld, and I think that's more comedy
- 9:41than fantasy. Yeah, I should go back and watch
- 9:46a few of those actually. It's been a long time.
- 9:48I enjoy them, I pop them on every now and again.
- 9:53Yeah, and even Witcher, I love the first season and I just, I
- 9:58just got bored after that. And isn't there, there's the
- 10:02third season's out and 4th is yeah, that is like.
- 10:05Out 4th is yeah, coming soon I. Guess I dropped out of halfway
- 10:08in season 2. Maybe I'll go back.
- 10:11Maybe I'll go back. And it wasn't because I didn't
- 10:13like it. No, it was fine.
- 10:15It's just season 1 was fucking compelling.
- 10:19And I still say they had to do one thing to fix season 1 and
- 10:23have what type what what what period it was what year like am
- 10:27I in the future of the past because that got confused let.
- 10:30Me know it was it. Yeah, yeah.
- 10:33Agree. Agree.
- 10:34I mean, it blew my mind once I realized that's what was
- 10:36happening. Yeah.
- 10:37Then I was lost. I was like, well, hold on.
- 10:39Well, I don't know anything now. And I still still say she was
- 10:43hotter before. Yeah.
- 10:44Unfortunately transformed. 100% Speaking of hot women.
- 10:49And look, I hate to bring this up.
- 10:51I hate to bring this up because I don't like objectifying women.
- 10:54I don't like judging women on their looks.
- 10:56But I've got to say we've talked about Sidney Sweeney in the past
- 11:01on this podcast, right? And the whole Internet.
- 11:05Sidney Sweeney, Sidney Sweeney, I finally saw her, finally know
- 11:09who Sidney Sweeney is because I was with people and we watched
- 11:12some dumb movie she was in which is set in Australia and was
- 11:16fucking garbage. But what my main take away was I
- 11:22don't find her precious slightest bit attractive.
- 11:25Yeah, I'm going to. That's fine.
- 11:27I I don't get it. Perfectly good actress and I'm
- 11:29sure she's a lovely woman, but really like the the internet's
- 11:34going fucking crazy. Well, is it OK?
- 11:40Is it the other thing though? Because a lot of famous
- 11:43actresses don't have, I'm objectified, don't have the
- 11:47biggest breasts. No, I know.
- 11:50Yeah, I'm reluctant to say this too, but it must just be the
- 11:53tits, right? Yeah, because that's the the
- 12:00thing that that I think anyone focuses on when they do show
- 12:03stuff at these. And again, like, I hate even
- 12:06having to bring this up. I hate even bringing it up, but
- 12:10I just don't understand it. Like I said, she may go on to
- 12:13become my favorite actress. I'm not ruling that out.
- 12:16She's she's she was perfectly good in the.
- 12:18Film, but she just doesn't do anything for you.
- 12:22Yeah, maybe I'm just out of touch.
- 12:25We're definitely out of touch that, I mean, I'm not getting
- 12:28anywhere close to touching her. Well, truly out of touch.
- 12:32Yeah, the other. Thing but also the other thing
- 12:36is it's like how old is she? Like maybe you're just tastes
- 12:39are starting to get to an option.
- 12:41Maybe if I saw her mum I'd be like, oh.
- 12:43Yeah, Oh. That that is definitely that's
- 12:48that's could well be a factor. Something hit me today.
- 12:52We could move into like a senior's retirement home in 10
- 12:56years. Yeah, it's so funny because my
- 12:59mother-in-law is, is is really. Which you really should be
- 13:03considering moving into. Yeah.
- 13:04And she's putting up one hell of a fight.
- 13:06And my own grandmother put up the same fight.
- 13:08Fucking take me. Take me.
- 13:10I'm ready to go. I'm ready.
- 13:11Let me go there. I can just.
- 13:13If I've got access to a fucking electrical port and I can plug
- 13:17in my TV, my laptop and my Xbox. Computer Xbox, like frigging,
- 13:22and then you're going to cook and clean for me, Yeah.
- 13:26I'll ring a little bell, you bring me a cup of tea.
- 13:28I'm ready now. Yeah, I'll still go to work.
- 13:31I'm still fine with that. But yeah, you just do it from
- 13:33your. Mate, I could, I could do it
- 13:35from there. I wouldn't even have to leave
- 13:37the ground. Like, yeah, so I think, I think
- 13:42that's the thing you need to do earlier rather than later.
- 13:47I also I also thought we mentioned before recording my
- 13:53wife has been in Argentina this last week for work.
- 13:56As you do and. She she visited the grave of
- 13:58Juan and Eva Peron and I was like, oh, OK, that's nice.
- 14:03And is that, is it a nice grave? She said, yeah, it's beautiful.
- 14:05And they're side by side. And I'm like, should we start
- 14:09thinking about like buying a plot?
- 14:13Like, you know what I mean? Like.
- 14:14Well, have you had the decision? Are you being buried?
- 14:16Are you being cremated? The.
- 14:18Conversations that need to start happening, you know?
- 14:22Yeah, I've got a little man. Yeah.
- 14:25Well, with that we've done, we've done that when when she
- 14:28was born, we did proper wheels and that was.
- 14:30They and me and Harper are going to have so much fun once we take
- 14:33you 2 out. That's right.
- 14:36Yeah. Speaking of of body image,
- 14:41building on from the Sydney Sweeney but changing direction,
- 14:43did you see this British pop star male pop star that posted a
- 14:47before and after fitness picture online this week?
- 14:51No. OK, so I don't know his name, so
- 14:55it it it might lose its validity, but and in fact, he
- 14:58didn't do it. His personal trainer put it on
- 15:00and said, look at this transformation.
- 15:02And basically in the first one, he's standing there with what
- 15:05you would call a dad bod, but what I would identify as being
- 15:10definitely more in shape than I am.
- 15:12You know what I mean? Like just good, good muscle and
- 15:17you know. Probably good starting point.
- 15:19Yeah, good starting point and the next one ripped as fuck. 6
- 15:22full 6 pack everything you know, starved starved of moisture
- 15:28anyway and. They're trying to say this is
- 15:29after one training session, no? No, no, no, no.
- 15:32Nothing the the the trainer put it on and he was like, you know,
- 15:36after six months or a year or however long it was, Look at
- 15:39these results, right? And all of these guys are
- 15:41commenting fuck yeah, bro, go for it.
- 15:44You look so good, right? And all these women are
- 15:46conscious anything shame. You look pretty good before.
- 15:50I'm not interested. Right.
- 15:52Well, that sort of proves the point that you're doing it for
- 15:54other men. Right.
- 15:56And we've talked about that before, but here's The funny
- 15:59thing, it 'cause you can and I'm fucking, I'll put it in the show
- 16:03notes because I wish I could remember his name.
- 16:05But below the comments that the women are making, the men are
- 16:11arguing back. Why are you lying about this?
- 16:14You obviously prefer the RIP, so why?
- 16:17Why can't you just admit it now? And they're like, what would I
- 16:20have to gain from lying? On on like yeah, this post like
- 16:24I'm I'm just giving my personal opinion.
- 16:26I prefer you. I prefer you put before pics.
- 16:29Yeah, yeah. And when I looked at it, I mean,
- 16:32I had a different reaction because I was like, well, even
- 16:33in the before pics, he's still in better shape than I.
- 16:36Like you want to get to the before pics.
- 16:37I would, I would aspire to that. And the other one, I mean, if I
- 16:41ever found myself in the position of that, I'd just throw
- 16:43out all my shirts right in the bin that day and be like, forget
- 16:46it. You're you're everyone topless
- 16:47from then on. Yeah, exactly.
- 16:49So I couldn't even dream of it. But just the fact that men just
- 16:54don't believe it when women say no, no, we just want you to look
- 16:58healthy. Yeah, we will tell you what you
- 17:00think is good. Yeah, that's right.
- 17:03Exactly. Yeah, Yeah, it'll feed your
- 17:05opinion to. You.
- 17:07About. Us.
- 17:08That's lovely. Still hate the Internet I'll.
- 17:14Fucking loathe the Internet. But I can't get away without it.
- 17:21No, we wouldn't have this show without it and we wouldn't.
- 17:24We could. We could still record it and
- 17:26then we could just play it back for a select few people that
- 17:29came around our. House like when we used to film
- 17:31stuff. Yeah, we have the VHS that you'd
- 17:35pass around. Yeah, my favorite part about
- 17:39filming those was not even that it was before you that we'd film
- 17:43it and we'd be so excited. We'd go back to someone's house
- 17:45and just watch what we just filmed out of, you know, just
- 17:49just unedited laugh. Laugh at our takes.
- 17:52That was the fun part. That was the really fun part for
- 17:55me. Yep, I missed that.
- 17:56And then I just, I just love. The thing I really loved is that
- 17:59all of our stories have videos. Like there's such back story and
- 18:03all this stuff that we just completely ignore.
- 18:06Yeah, yeah. We really didn't make them for
- 18:10viewers, did we? We make, we just.
- 18:12Made them vacuum ourselves, which I see is one of my
- 18:15favourites. Yeah, there's a whole elaborate
- 18:17story how he's escaped from the city and it's a futuristic city
- 18:21and he doesn't matter. Nothing.
- 18:24No. In fact, we don't even say it's
- 18:27a science fiction. No, the fact that he's like
- 18:30escaped from this futuristic city back into the wilderness,
- 18:33it's like people are like, did he just go to the western
- 18:35suburbs? Is that what this is about?
- 18:39But it was so great. Yeah, it was and they rolled in
- 18:43for his clothes, which which can happen in the Western.
- 18:45Suburbs or. At least could back.
- 18:48In A and he deserves it then. Yeah, you should.
- 18:51That's nice. And Jason Anderson needed to
- 18:53die. Yeah, in every, in every film we
- 18:57made. Yes, right.
- 19:00What should we do next? Are you still playing Death
- 19:06Stranding? Did you complete Death
- 19:08Stranding? No, I I need to go back to it
- 19:10though I've I've got to the same point on 2 playthroughs of one
- 19:14on Windows 1 on Xbox, but I still I want to go back and
- 19:16finish it, but it's. Is there a particular reason
- 19:20you're stopped at that exact point?
- 19:22Is it a difficult point or is? It it's not difficult, it's just
- 19:25I played the game wrong. I played the game trying to
- 19:28deliver everything and you can't play it that way.
- 19:31OK, OK. So I do recommend when you do
- 19:33start playing it, don't try to excuse me, backtrack and pick up
- 19:38every single piece and get you don't need to.
- 19:41OK, OK, Will I instinctively know which things I can ignore
- 19:45or? Yes.
- 19:47OK. And you, it's one thing I quite
- 19:49like about the world sort of grows a bit around you because
- 19:52it interacts with like other people in the world.
- 19:55So it's not multiplayer, but you'll be able to use other
- 19:58players stuff. OK, OK.
- 20:01So you might put down like a ladder to get across a river or
- 20:05climb up somewhere. And then as you play along
- 20:08further, you might see other people's ladders are now there
- 20:12and. Right.
- 20:13And that's interesting. It's interesting.
- 20:16And you give them you give them a thumbs up.
- 20:19Yeah. Thank you.
- 20:21That's great, That's great. There is a sequel coming.
- 20:26Yes. Coming this year I believe.
- 20:30Which sort of came from nowhere. But suddenly people that are
- 20:36beta testing it have starting putting their reviews out and
- 20:39what's shocked me is that part of this is set in Australia.
- 20:44It is. Yes.
- 20:47Did not know that because the first one is basically you
- 20:49travelling across America. Right.
- 20:52So I don't know if the whole game or just part of the game,
- 20:56but people were like, man, future Australia is fucking
- 20:59bleak. And I'm like, oh shit, yeah.
- 21:02OK, I'm more, to be honest to play this one.
- 21:06You can go into the Outback now and and pretty much see this.
- 21:09Yeah, it's very, it's pretty Mad Max once you get out of the
- 21:12cities. The problem is I don't know when
- 21:14we'll get to play it. Yeah.
- 21:17Because it's going to be PlayStation Five first.
- 21:20Of course, and in Australia, giant pole, the capped mountain
- 21:25in the middle of WA. I just got back from there.
- 21:28Blocking you from progressing across the country.
- 21:33Yeah, so at the moment it's only coming to PlayStation Five.
- 21:35I got a shock when it just randomly released last year on
- 21:39Windows and came with achievements and everything and
- 21:43then they just released on the Xbox.
- 21:44So it will come. I think it'll probably will
- 21:46probably have to wait a year or so though.
- 21:48Sure. Sure, you rescue a kangaroo from
- 21:53a Bush fire. Now that's not quite what you
- 21:58lied to, Skip and Smith. No.
- 22:00I lied and said I rescued a koala.
- 22:04That's pretty close though. I did just have a quick look.
- 22:08One of the biggest reveals, one that's largely been kept hidden
- 22:11today, is that the game is largely takes place in
- 22:14Australia. Largely takes place in
- 22:16Australia. That's fucking right.
- 22:19Yeah, I reckon I should have a Fallout set in Australia.
- 22:22Definitely, yeah. I mean, the Mad Max game was
- 22:26basically Fallout. Yeah, Australia with cars.
- 22:28I wouldn't make another Mad Max game.
- 22:30I enjoyed that game. I enjoyed it too, I really did.
- 22:33Yeah. I like going around building up
- 22:36the car and trying to get your car and driving it around it's.
- 22:39Yeah, it's like all instead of, you know, be getting pieces of
- 22:43armour for your own outfit, Yes, you're just getting it for your
- 22:47car. And you're trying to save up
- 22:48money and scrap to upgrade your engine and armour and.
- 22:52No, and and it was one of the next two driving games I'm
- 22:55actually not bad at. Because there's nothing you can
- 22:58really run into. Crash into yeah.
- 23:01Well, no, it didn't do well at the time.
- 23:03I think it had did well later. Right, but I got the.
- 23:08The the. Steel.
- 23:09What do they call that? The box that's made out of it
- 23:12looks like it's made out of metal.
- 23:14That when they used to do physical copies of things
- 23:18anyway, the special special edition box of that.
- 23:21Oh, you should steal tin. Steal tin.
- 23:24Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Back when you used to go and get
- 23:28the special edition games. Back when you actually used to
- 23:31have to pre-order games because you weren't guaranteed getting
- 23:35it day one if you didn't. That's right.
- 23:36I know. Oh, so yeah, Speaking of just
- 23:41the fact that that games are digital now, right?
- 23:43So I wanted to buy Mario Kart. Yes I figured my daughter's
- 23:49probably old enough to play Mario Kart now and I bought 2
- 23:53little joy con steering wheels. Just the handheld ones, not the
- 23:56not the desk mounted ones. And they were super cheap. 15
- 24:02bucks for two. Yep, Mario Kart is fucking
- 24:04$80.00 and I was. Thinking.
- 24:06Well, I don't have to buy #8 I'll just buy #7 fuck it, I'll
- 24:09buy number six. No, you can't.
- 24:11They're gone. The only way you can get them is
- 24:14if you buy the the that's an. Old physical copy and I couldn't
- 24:18find them anywhere. Yep, Nintendo aren't great with
- 24:23no. You bought a new one.
- 24:25Yeah, don't worry about the old one.
- 24:26And I was like, I get it, you know, I do get it, I understand,
- 24:30I won't be too angry about it. And I've already had $80.00
- 24:33worth of fun, so who cares, right?
- 24:37Yeah, but it's the same thing. Like when you get the Switch to,
- 24:39you're going to be buying the same games you've already
- 24:41purchased. Just.
- 24:43Yeah, what Nintendo do they're good at.
- 24:46Yeah, but I'm pretty good at holding off on stuff like that.
- 24:49Xbox I always want the the newest console straight away but
- 24:53Switch I think my current Switch will do me for a little while
- 24:56longer. Yes.
- 24:57Yep, especially with who's playing it mostly.
- 25:01Yeah, well, man, it's funny though, I had to, had to.
- 25:06And I, I guess driving isn't instinctual for kids, even
- 25:09though they watch the parents drive because I the first lap
- 25:12she did of Mario Kart, I'm like, do you think turning the
- 25:15steering wheel makes your car go faster?
- 25:18And she's like, yeah, I'm like, right, that's not it.
- 25:23And that's why you're not doing well.
- 25:24Just just turn it when you want to turn the car.
- 25:26She's like. Oh, I remember, I forget who it
- 25:29was. We had this buggy thing like it
- 25:32was a full beach buggy car. I had my I feel so my nephew or
- 25:36my niece on my lap and steering it and they could get it like I
- 25:40turned. So I turned the wheel and I want
- 25:41to go straight. So I stopped turning.
- 25:44No, you need to turn back. Got to keep.
- 25:46Turning. Yeah, like you got to get the
- 25:48wheel straight to you. That's not just because you
- 25:50stopped turning. Class stopped turning.
- 25:52Yeah. Funny.
- 25:54Yeah. But they were young and.
- 25:56Yeah, and actually once it clicks in them, they're they're
- 25:59fine they. Pick it up quickly.
- 26:01Yeah. But yeah, we went.
- 26:03Remember, we had to go through all the tutorials when we were
- 26:05young. Now we're hate them.
- 26:08They still need them. Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 26:12And yeah, these things are just intuitive to us now too.
- 26:15Yeah. And I was thinking about the
- 26:17other day, you know, we talk about tank controls, like for
- 26:19example, you know, we talked already about Resident Evil, but
- 26:23also every, every game from PS1 era.
- 26:25Basically with your silent heels and all of that, you had to turn
- 26:30to face a certain direction, then you could press forward.
- 26:33It occurred to me recently that kind of actually is still what
- 26:36you do. It's just that you've got 2
- 26:37sticks, so you can do it simultaneously.
- 26:39You can still only go the direction you're facing.
- 26:43I think it's just a little bit more of the sticks.
- 26:44It's easier to do because. You could do, yeah.
- 26:47And you could. Do both at the same time.
- 26:48But where's it right? All D paddles?
- 26:50No, I have to turn. Especially since he would react
- 26:54and just keep trying to run but like no I'm not towards him.
- 26:57What are you doing and? Then you run back between
- 26:59screens and oh. Yeah, I mean, that was that was
- 27:01the worst. I mean, it looked cool.
- 27:03It looked fucking cool. It.
- 27:05Did, but why was? It impractical.
- 27:08No, I can't. I don't think I'm going back.
- 27:09I need to go and play Resident Evil 2 and 3 because I've got
- 27:13there I really. Liked Resident Evil 1 and I
- 27:15forgot how much of what I liked about Resident Evil was there
- 27:18from the very start. Like you love the terrible voice
- 27:22acting? No, I mean there's hardly any
- 27:24voice acting in it. Even in the remake that's still
- 27:27really bad. I don't know why they didn't fix
- 27:28that completely. I think there's still suddenly
- 27:30the charm of that. I mean, it is right.
- 27:33It's, it's Japanese voice actors talking like they think
- 27:36Americans talk, Yes, and but just, but you're on your own for
- 27:4199% of that game, just fucking walking around in the dark.
- 27:45And there's things that you find early on in the game that don't
- 27:48pay off for much, much later. You think you're finally out of
- 27:52that mansion and then you've got to go back in.
- 27:55But this time you can open. You've got a different key that
- 27:57can open the rest of the doors like it's it's really good.
- 28:00The design of that game is fucking incredible.
- 28:03The limited ammunition, like sometimes you might have a lot
- 28:06and you go, no, I'm going to hold on to it because I don't
- 28:09know what's coming next and. Yeah.
- 28:12Just done so well. Oh, the the fact that you can
- 28:15only save as the typewriters, but also only if you've got ink
- 28:20for your typewriter. That would not fly today in a
- 28:24game. No, but it makes it thrill.
- 28:27And you can't drop items. So if you've got a full
- 28:31itinerary and you see something you need, you can't drop
- 28:35something. If it's bullets, trying to use
- 28:37it or shoot them all out. Or yeah, or you've got to try to
- 28:40use it or take it back to a safe room and put it in your stash
- 28:43and. Then come back for it.
- 28:44I don't remember that. That would be terrifying.
- 28:49Yep. No, they definitely will not fly
- 28:52today. I I think if a new game came out
- 28:54today, I don't think it'll fly with me.
- 28:56I'd be. I don't have time yet.
- 28:59But I don't know. Fucking charming.
- 29:01Pretty good. But I remember, like, President
- 29:03Evil Two. Yeah.
- 29:04Because you did the two sort of playthroughs, you sort of had to
- 29:06decide when to leave stuff. Yeah, You took everything on
- 29:10your second playthrough. There's nothing there.
- 29:13That's right. Yeah, that's right.
- 29:17So good. And then they got not so good,
- 29:20and then they got really good again.
- 29:21I'm glad they're good again. Sort of same universe, same
- 29:24story, but not. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:28I don't really understand what's happening anymore, but they're
- 29:32still saying it's the umbrella call.
- 29:34Yeah. Umbrella doing it all, but what
- 29:37are they doing? Why?
- 29:39Harvesting your DNA for stuff and yeah, yeah.
- 29:43Yeah. Yeah, and it's not just zombies
- 29:46now, it's all sorts of fucking things.
- 29:48Yes, there's sort of zombies, they're sort of human, but not.
- 29:53And they can talk, and right you go away, Cat.
- 29:58You mentioned before still going to work while you're living in
- 30:02an old folks home and I pointed out they still work from home.
- 30:06Have you heard of pub desking? Because this is now a thing in
- 30:09the UK, no pubs are offering. You pay a fee, it's £15
- 30:18apparently and you can sit in the pub all day, you can use
- 30:22their Wi-Fi, you get a lunch, beers are on you whenever you
- 30:26want. And you can quite a good deal.
- 30:30It's certainly it's less than a Wework, that's for sure.
- 30:33Yeah, I I don't, I did not see a problem with this at all.
- 30:39And I think it just should take off over the world.
- 30:41Not be trusted with this you. You are not allowed to
- 30:44participate. But why not just?
- 30:46In general, generally speaking, I think this is a good idea.
- 30:51Because why not? Pubs are normally quiet during
- 30:54the day. Yes, that's right.
- 30:56Yeah. I'll have like this peak periods
- 30:59of lunch and yeah stuff but. You know, and you might be
- 31:03tempted to be like, I might just go play the pokies for 15
- 31:06minutes. Well.
- 31:07Remember, they don't have pokies there.
- 31:10Yeah, they've got the fruities. That's true.
- 31:13That's true. A bit like a poker machine, but
- 31:16not. But they'll only have like one
- 31:17or two they don't have in Australia.
- 31:18Like we've got the pokey room. Whole room?
- 31:21Yeah, yeah. Or in my local club, a whole
- 31:24floor. But somehow it's still a smoking
- 31:28floor. Yeah, I guess they figure people
- 31:34won't leave if they're allowed to smoke.
- 31:36There. But The thing is, they're not
- 31:38allowed to smoke inside. They have set it up somehow that
- 31:42it's technically outside. But it's not.
- 31:47Yeah, funny. And I don't know how to get away
- 31:50with it now because they're just becoming more and more rooms.
- 31:53And I don't know how you can justify like if it rains, no
- 31:56water's getting in at all. No, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:00If I'm not getting water, it rains.
- 32:01I'm. I'm not outside.
- 32:02Yes. I Speaking of smoking, I was in
- 32:07Perth and I was meeting up with friends from Singapore and in
- 32:10Singapore cigarettes are still 9 bucks a packet right?
- 32:13So smoking is as popular there now as it always.
- 32:16Was and it was 50 plus. Indonesia, Indonesia, everywhere
- 32:20around it, they're $1.00 packet, $2.00 packets.
- 32:23How do you think they're smoking here?
- 32:25Well, so I warned him. I said look, listen, I've seen
- 32:29cigarette packets approaching the $50 mark, all right?
- 32:33So just bear that in mind. And I think you're allowed to
- 32:37bring 2 packets into the country, one open, one unopened.
- 32:40Right. And they're like, OK, so they
- 32:44were, they were, they were expecting the $50.
- 32:47They came back $75.00 for a pack of 20 fives.
- 32:51What? Marlboros $75 Oh.
- 32:57My God. Remember how much we used to
- 33:02smoke? Imagine if we had to pay $75.00
- 33:05I. Smoke.
- 33:06I used to smoke 2 packets a day. That's $150.00.
- 33:11When I started smoking I would get change from a $50 note for a
- 33:15carton which is 8 packets. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:22I remember one time I went to a pub to see a band and I was
- 33:25broke. At the time I was student.
- 33:28I had a dollar coin on me, so I put the dollar coin in a pokey.
- 33:31I won $10 and I took that out and I was able to buy an
- 33:35expensive packet of smokes at the venue from a cigarette
- 33:39machine. Wow, yeah.
- 33:42So I dread to see how much they would cost.
- 33:45Yeah, I haven't even seen a cigarette machine because you
- 33:51maybe they're banned now because.
- 33:53No, no, they're still, I've seen them around.
- 33:55Don't look at them, but they're still at like in poking machine
- 34:00rooms and stuff like that where they want you to.
- 34:02Don't go too far away from here. Yeah, yeah. 75.
- 34:05Dollars $75. Pack of 25 what is that?
- 34:12I'm trying to do that. Yeah.
- 34:14What is that? Because I remember like it used
- 34:17to be a dollar a dart. And and but that was a lot like
- 34:22because we. Used, that was.
- 34:23Yeah, that's you. Yeah, it's $3 each canal.
- 34:30Jesus, that you're just setting on fire and it goes away.
- 34:34But God, I would smoke tomorrow if I could afford it.
- 34:36No I I lit a citronella can I I cooked pizzas outside tonight in
- 34:41my BBQ because I bought a pizza stone so I essentially.
- 34:44Because it's not cold for some reason, even though we're, yeah,
- 34:47we're about to hit winter. Oh yeah, I know.
- 34:49I'm fucking. It's perfect.
- 34:51It's perfect right now I'm loving it.
- 34:52But I'd like the citronella candle.
- 34:54Keep your bugs away. Put the lighter in my pocket.
- 34:56Later on, I put my hand in my pocket and I felt the lighter
- 34:58and all those memories started flipping back.
- 35:01Like just feeling the lighter in your pocket, remembering.
- 35:04Just take it. Oh, Yep, it'll be the first
- 35:07thing you did, the second you got in the car, the second you
- 35:10got out of a car. Like the first thing you did
- 35:12whenever you got anywhere was light up.
- 35:14First thing you did when you got to a train station.
- 35:17First thing you did when you got off the.
- 35:19Train. If you had asked me how long it
- 35:23took to walk from my house to the Warrington County shops, I
- 35:26would have said 3 cigarettes. Yep.
- 35:28That's how when I was working, that's how long I judged my
- 35:31break. Yeah.
- 35:32Like a quick, the quick morning tea, that's two smokes.
- 35:36And then your lunch you got like if depending on if you're eating
- 35:39lunch or not, you've got three to four.
- 35:40Like, that's just, yeah. Yeah.
- 35:43Well, oh. Man, we were really playing fast
- 35:46and loose with our health though, weren't we?
- 35:50But as I. Can't say we didn't know it was
- 35:53just. Oh, we all knew I I still say
- 35:55you only get cancer once and I'm still so I think I would be
- 35:58fine. Hopefully that is the case for
- 36:02all our sakes. What that I took the cancer hit
- 36:05for everyone. No that you can.
- 36:07Only get it once, once you've had.
- 36:09Enough cancer in my family as well, so if you don't get it
- 36:12again and no one in my family. Gets it again.
- 36:14I'll be fine with that because that sucks, but yeah, we just
- 36:17didn't care. No, we didn't care.
- 36:20Hell, I started smoking at a canteen event.
- 36:25That's so. Hilariously ironic.
- 36:28Yep, that's where I started smoking.
- 36:33I actually started smoking because I remember the exact
- 36:37moment I started smoking and it was out of spite.
- 36:40It was because you, me, Dave and Gareth now, sorry listeners,
- 36:45we're getting so specific now. Went outside.
- 36:49I, I left school the final year, did it somewhere else and so was
- 36:54AWOL and they came back and you were all smokers at some, some
- 36:58point during that time, you'd all become smokers.
- 37:00And we went outside and he's all lit up.
- 37:03And Dave was the only one who had a packet.
- 37:05So he he took one, he gave one of, he gave one to you.
- 37:07And they turned to me and goes, I'm not even going to bother
- 37:10offering one to you. And I'm like, think again
- 37:17because fuck you. Don't you assume I'm not?
- 37:20A list offer. Yes, give me the opportunity to
- 37:23turn it down. If you'd offered, maybe, I'd
- 37:25never would have. Started you probably.
- 37:26Would have started out of Smite. I've been thinking about how
- 37:30much money you spent over the years that's just you just set
- 37:33on fire. Yeah, but it wasn't $75 a
- 37:36packet. No, no, like I quit.
- 37:40I think when I quit it was like $15 a pack.
- 37:42Like I didn't get to yeah, too much higher after that.
- 37:47I'd I don't know how how could people afford $75.00 because.
- 37:52I remember when I came back to Australia 2020 during COVID, I
- 37:57was, I'd technically quit, but I'd still like to keep a pack in
- 38:00the house and they were $25 and I was like $25 for 25.
- 38:06Cigarettes is a lot of money, but it's rocketed since.
- 38:12Then yes. So just stop smoking everyone.
- 38:17Actually, they keep smoking. It goes to taxes that pay for
- 38:21services. Actually, it's really just
- 38:24paying for them to go to hospital.
- 38:26It's a lot of tax. But it's also paying for us to
- 38:29go to hospital, so. It's not a tax, it's excise, OK,
- 38:37Just like a tax. I don't know how it works.
- 38:41No, but yeah, I just, I'm jealous of people who can do it.
- 38:45But I know if I was to I'd be straight back to two packs a day
- 38:48and that's just not feasible. Certainly not now, no.
- 38:54Yeah. And also at our age, I just
- 38:57don't think our bodies could take that anymore.
- 39:00No, literally just breathing tar for when you're young you can
- 39:04get away with a lot. Yep.
- 39:06But look, let's get away from the cost of smoking it out.
- 39:10It's terrible for your health. Yeah, yeah, well, just while
- 39:16we're computer game heavy episode, but that's OK.
- 39:20Yes, in GTA6 we've discussed the release date changing last week
- 39:25and since then they dropped another trailer.
- 39:29They went. Sorry about that, but have a
- 39:31trailer. Now I famously don't really
- 39:35enjoy the Gtas and I haven't been excited about one for a
- 39:38while, and I'm not going to say I'm excited about this, but
- 39:41after looking at the trailer I can see where the hype is
- 39:45coming. From yes like if this is what
- 39:48it's looking like now and this is just meant to be playing on
- 39:52an Xbox PlayStation like it's not yeah high in PC and they've
- 39:56said it's. Roughly 5050 cutscenes and in
- 40:00game in this trailer. I know a lot of people were
- 40:02complaining. Oh hey, it's not gameplay and
- 40:05stuff and sort of like. Apparently 50% of it is.
- 40:08No, if you actually if you look at GTA5, the cutscenes didn't
- 40:12really just we're just gameplay just.
- 40:15Yeah, I I I appreciate when games just do their cutscenes in
- 40:19the same style as. The game, yeah.
- 40:21And game just looks beautiful. I just, it's amazing what
- 40:25they're seeing. Where the guys carrying the six
- 40:27pack of of beer and you can see it swirling in the bottles like
- 40:32it's such an amazing detail. And I think that's why it's sort
- 40:37of taking another year. Yeah, fine, keep working on it.
- 40:41I'm going to play it. I'm not going to pay 120 bucks
- 40:44for it when it comes out, but yeah I'll pay $70.00 for it in a
- 40:48year after. That once it goes on sale I will
- 40:50be spending 120 on it and I'll let you know.
- 40:53Yeah, I'll say this. One thing I don't like about the
- 40:57GTA is, and this is just me personally, I don't like
- 41:01organized crime. I'm just not interested in it.
- 41:04You know what I mean? I've seen The Godfather.
- 41:05I liked that. Yeah.
- 41:06I just don't watch a lot of mob movies.
- 41:08I just, I don't like that culture.
- 41:11But this looks like it's just a bunch of couple of junkies
- 41:14trying to fucking get by. I could I could maybe get into
- 41:16this. Yeah, like they're just a couple
- 41:18of people. They're Yeah, not the greatest.
- 41:21Yeah. Out there just committing crime,
- 41:23just a Bonnie and Clyde type of thing.
- 41:24And it's not really. I'm much more likely to play
- 41:28that. Yeah.
- 41:29Mind you, that's it. Mafia.
- 41:31Old world, Old country. Oh yes, looks.
- 41:33Pretty good. That looks pretty good.
- 41:35Have you seen that? Forward to that as well.
- 41:37I just, I like those Mafia game. I like, I like these games.
- 41:40I just enjoy them. This one looks great if
- 41:44listeners if you haven't seen it, it looks like it's set in
- 41:45like old Sicily, like turn of the century Sicily.
- 41:49Yes, rifles in the back of open top all time.
- 41:52And we might actually get a release date for that soon now
- 41:55because GTA 5-6 is gone. We're not releasing now.
- 41:59Yeah, yeah. Don't do it.
- 42:00Going to take a sigh of relief and put their games out.
- 42:03Yeah, because like Mafia, that's would have been direct
- 42:07competition with GTA6. Like it's the same open world
- 42:11stuff and it would lose. Oh.
- 42:15Yeah. Yeah.
- 42:16And so it's been and scheduled for release August 8th.
- 42:20Oh. There you go.
- 42:23And it's almost June, so that's actually not.
- 42:24That's not that far away at all. Excellent.
- 42:29I will be buying that day one as well.
- 42:31And if remember, if the Internet hadn't complained at the start
- 42:35of the Xbox One I could have, then I could lend you that copy
- 42:38as. Soon as you had finished with
- 42:39it, Yeah. That's why we can't have nice
- 42:42things. Because that's thing like
- 42:44they've said, you'll be able to sell your games and learn your
- 42:47games. The only caveat is your console
- 42:50had to connect to the Internet once a day just to check your
- 42:53licenses. Don't you fucking dare look at
- 42:58my license. So funny.
- 43:02I just I just I just as far. As I know my Xbox is connected
- 43:06to the Internet at all times. Yes.
- 43:09Like why was that a deal? Yeah.
- 43:13I think at the time there was like DDoS attacks, DDoS attacks
- 43:17happening, and people would supply that would have trouble,
- 43:19But it wasn't like they were having trouble for days.
- 43:21They might be a few hours where something was happening and when
- 43:26you'd log back on and you can play, it would check your
- 43:28license. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:31Like it does now, except now we can't share it.
- 43:34Yeah, yeah. It was going to be like a book.
- 43:37Like you couldn't both play it at once.
- 43:39Yep. So if you had loaned it to me,
- 43:41only I could play it. When I loaned it back to you,
- 43:43only you could play it. And like if you bought the game
- 43:46from, it wasn't even going to work with purchase discs.
- 43:49So you could buy the disc, the license will be on that disc.
- 43:52You put it, put it in, you would install the game.
- 43:55That license is now there. You could not didn't have to
- 43:58worry about putting the disk in the plate anymore.
- 44:00But if you gave that disk to someone else, that license would
- 44:03go with that disk. So you wouldn't be able to like
- 44:05also going to be great. Yeah, that's a well thought out
- 44:08system. Isn't it Bring that back.
- 44:11Yeah. Because then I could start
- 44:13lending out some of these games I buy.
- 44:16Yeah. Well, maybe start selling it.
- 44:18Reminds me of when Napster got sued by Metallica back in like
- 44:212002 or whatever that was. And, and they're like, we're
- 44:25not, we're not breaking any laws.
- 44:26It says here that you can, if you buy ACD, you're actually
- 44:30allowed to copy it for your own personal use and share it with
- 44:32close personal friends. It says it right there.
- 44:35And we just allow people to share this music with millions
- 44:38and millions of their closest personal friends.
- 44:42Not quite. Good try, yes, but I remember
- 44:48when Lars was done. We need to go into everyone's
- 44:50house to get their computers and that's, yeah, their work.
- 44:54It was, it was a very large thing to say yes.
- 44:56I mean, they did wait. They they won the lawsuit.
- 44:58They won the lawsuit, but I don't think he quite understood
- 45:02what the lawsuit was or how they won it.
- 45:05Was. Yeah, yeah.
- 45:07Excuse me, because I think he thought he was going to be able
- 45:10to suit everyone who'd done it, not just.
- 45:14Yeah, What have you seen? Now that remember a little while
- 45:18ago, I forget what the movie was.
- 45:20There was a movie that came out and the studios were going to
- 45:25sue people in Australia for it. The party, right, Yes.
- 45:29And the judges can't like do not send out any letters until we
- 45:32work it out. Because when I went to court,
- 45:34it's like you're asking for a lot of money.
- 45:36They download like a $40 movie. Like where are you getting this
- 45:41figure from? And he said, so don't send
- 45:44anything out. What we're doing is they sent a
- 45:45letter out. He went, well, just to throw
- 45:47this out to court then. So, so because it's also not the
- 45:50person downloading it that is the person that's pirating, it's
- 45:55the person who's making it available.
- 45:57That's right, although if they're not making any money for
- 46:01it, you could also argue that it's not piracy in that strict
- 46:05sense either. It's not like you go to Thailand
- 46:08and you you buy a disk. Yes, and someone's making money.
- 46:11That's piracy, right? Yeah, but I think the problem is
- 46:14is because they still went ahead and sent out letters and were
- 46:16asking, I think they've made it harder for them to try and bring
- 46:19it back around to do what they did.
- 46:21Anyone else? Did you see that class action
- 46:27lawsuit for Apple with the Is it Siri or the AI?
- 46:32Whatever the fuck. That is, Oh yes.
- 46:33Apparently you've got a certain amount of if you're in America
- 46:36and you've you've purchased something during that period,
- 46:39you can. Join it, cash in.
- 46:41Yeah. The well, the The thing is with
- 46:44those class action lawsuits, you might get a few dollars.
- 46:49The lawyers are going to make and the people who started are
- 46:51going to make a ton of money. You'll get a couple of dollars.
- 46:53You might, if it's easier to sign up, do it, but you're not
- 46:56going to make. And also when the update comes
- 46:59out in a year it it'll update on your phone you'll get just calm
- 47:02the fuck down. Like they basically didn't do it
- 47:05because it wasn't ready. Yeah.
- 47:07And so they basically got look so if.
- 47:09You bought a phone only because of that feature?
- 47:12Like what the fuck are you doing?
- 47:14Yeah, I still, I don't use the AI on my phone.
- 47:18I don't. I have only just I still don't
- 47:22use Siri because here's garbage. I've started using.
- 47:26I've actually started using chat ChatGPT more than I use Google
- 47:30Now for just querying things because I find it, it, it, it's
- 47:36a better filter when it. But Google's AI is quite good
- 47:40now too. You know the first.
- 47:41The first answer is always the AI answer.
- 47:46Well, Google's still the only one that understands my
- 47:48spelling. We'll see.
- 47:51I've started using the speech. Just pick it up, hold the thing
- 47:55and just go. What, what is, what is 148 grams
- 47:59of flour in teaspoons? And it'll tell you, you know.
- 48:03Well, I actually, I'm using, I'm using the copilot a lot and I'm
- 48:07starting to like that and I'm going actually going to the
- 48:10thing I saw that they've got a thing coming up in Canberra to
- 48:13go and sort of get a hands on. It's going to be, I think it's
- 48:16going to be interesting. That would be interesting.
- 48:19Going to have a bit of play with it, speak with Microsoft people
- 48:22you're. Not saying anything specific.
- 48:24Are you allowed to use copilot at work?
- 48:28Sort of. OK.
- 48:30Are you trialing it? Is that the sort of Yeah, OK,
- 48:34because I they've recently blocked everything.
- 48:38Yes. And yes, I want to experiment
- 48:43more than I'm currently allowed to.
- 48:44Yeah. The problem is you have, and
- 48:46this is at a lot of people's workplaces is they don't
- 48:49understand that you can't share everything with it because.
- 48:54Yeah, yeah, yeah. Unless you get it set up
- 48:56correctly and you have information stored where you
- 49:00want it stored. If you're just using the public
- 49:02version available and you're putting stuff in, you're putting
- 49:05stuff in that's now available to everyone.
- 49:08That's right. And most users don't understand
- 49:11that because it's just because you'll put that in there doesn't
- 49:14mean it's only going to use that for you.
- 49:16They'll take that information to learn.
- 49:18Yeah, yeah, that's right. But I the, the possibilities,
- 49:22man, I, because I, I work in a design studio and the, I was
- 49:28chatting with guys that work in the public sector design and
- 49:31they basically teach ChatGPT, their brand guide and then route
- 49:37it through Canva. And they use, they design
- 49:40through text prompts. You know, they'll say give me
- 49:44three options of how a corporate cover might look like and it
- 49:48will always be on brand because it.
- 49:49Instead of you're printing. What?
- 49:51Yeah, this is This is how the basic stuff.
- 49:55And then you go and. Make it into the filters we're
- 49:57giving you. Essentially, yeah.
- 50:00There's some incredible it's. So easy and quick.
- 50:02It's it's scary. Yeah, so there's one thing
- 50:06ChatGPT has changed recently you're not allowed to do.
- 50:09And when I tell you what it is, you're going to say we'll do,
- 50:11and what were you trying to do? But I'll explain right.
- 50:15So were you trying to make it racist?
- 50:17No, no, you can no longer ask ChatGPT to generate realistic
- 50:23pictures of children. I'm just thinking that's a good
- 50:32that's not there. I can understand why I wasn't
- 50:34there at the start, but then because you're not thinking,
- 50:36you're not thinking about the terrible people out there.
- 50:39Yeah. So what I was specifically
- 50:42trying to do, I have, you know, a handful of pictures of me as a
- 50:46kid, not too many. I don't have any pictures of me
- 50:51using my old computer, playing on my old consoles or any stuff
- 50:55that relates to like the stuff we talk about.
- 50:58Right. Yeah.
- 50:58And I had this brain wave that I would just feed it in a few
- 51:02pictures of me as a kid and say, recreate some false 1980s
- 51:06pictures of this kid in a bedroom playing the SNES.
- 51:09That would be great. That would just give me so much
- 51:11joy to look at. And it's like, no, you're
- 51:14pervert. No, who is this kid?
- 51:18Because it's a minority that ruin it for everyone.
- 51:21Like you have those few people that just.
- 51:24Do horrible stuff. I googled it and evidently,
- 51:27yeah, it was fine for a while. If you if you'd had that idea
- 51:30earlier on, you could have done it and but then.
- 51:32People abused it. Somebody abused it.
- 51:34Yeah, Yeah. And yeah, in church UP want
- 51:37nothing to do with that. Yeah, yeah, that one.
- 51:40Yeah. In fact, you can't even like
- 51:45everyone's making cartoons of themselves and stuff.
- 51:47It'll do that. But if you give it a, there are
- 51:50third party apps that can do it that clearly don't have the same
- 51:54practices and standards. But if you ask ChatGPT make a
- 51:56picture of me doing this, it'll say I can make a picture of a
- 52:00person who resembles this person doing that.
- 52:03No. But will be changing enough that
- 52:05it's not that person. You want to hear one of the
- 52:09horrible trends that's happening on only fans at the moment?
- 52:12What do I do? I want to.
- 52:14Hear It's nothing to do with children, but and it's probably
- 52:17not the models themselves. You know how there's like
- 52:19modelling agencies and managers that go do stuff.
- 52:22So what they're doing here, taking the models, they're
- 52:25putting a down filter face on them and they're trying to
- 52:29market it that way as well. Like just because I have Down
- 52:33syndrome doesn't mean I'm not nasty.
- 52:35And all this stuff to try and get, and it's posting these
- 52:38things like social media to try and get people to go to their
- 52:40only fans accounts really. In a million years, I couldn't
- 52:48have predicted that that's what you were going to say.
- 52:50Fuck, hell I saw Mosh Critical put a video out on it today.
- 52:55What for that? Are there people out there going
- 52:58I just want women with Down syndrome?
- 53:01I don't know but there's even one that's like.
- 53:07So there's definitely like only 6 known cases of like Down
- 53:10syndrome, like a. An actual person.
- 53:13With dwarfism. Oh, sure.
- 53:16And but what there's now claiming that they're now the
- 53:197th so they can go to their only fans page.
- 53:24Dwarf with Down syndrome, what's her name?
- 53:28I didn't get any names, but yeah, it's just, that's why
- 53:34seems to be working, because it's not just one person who's
- 53:36done it, it's led to a lot of people doing it.
- 53:41Like, are you on Instagram still?
- 53:43I know you're not big social media and I'm less and.
- 53:46Less I've sort of gone off it because it's not pictures
- 53:48anymore. No, no, it's all memes and ads
- 53:52now. But I also like just because you
- 53:56fit the bill you get, you get like these I guess influences,
- 54:00for lack of a better term, push towards you.
- 54:03And I've noticed that neurodivergent IE autistic
- 54:08people and now like a trend on like only fans and stuff too
- 54:13like. The amount of people who have
- 54:14faked that as well. Bet.
- 54:17But for some reason, and I can understand that because it's so
- 54:19fucking trendy right now to say that you're autistic.
- 54:23I'm autistic, I'm fucking taking off my clothes.
- 54:26Like why do you? Why does it need to be autistic?
- 54:29If you want to see tits, just go and look at tits mate.
- 54:31Tits. Tits are fine.
- 54:33They don't. Sydney Sweeney's putting them
- 54:35out there on the big screen for you.
- 54:40Yeah, yeah, but that's just we, I don't get it like but yeah,
- 54:45there must be a market for it. And I don't know if you do have
- 54:51Down syndrome, maybe start an only fans account because.
- 54:55Yeah, maybe. I mean, that's a market.
- 54:57Who knew? Who knew?
- 55:00No, I didn't. I didn't know.
- 55:03I don't go on only fans though. Neither do I, but I also don't
- 55:07go on any other site going sexy Down syndrome girls.
- 55:11I don't really go on any site looking for sexy anything.
- 55:16I could find it without looking for it.
- 55:18Yeah, I also think we're too old.
- 55:20I think if we were younger and had more free time, maybe that's
- 55:23what we'd be doing. I think we did a bit more of
- 55:25that. You know, Matt used to have his
- 55:27Tumblr of just girls that look like Pixies, so maybe.
- 55:29This is, well, I think when we really had that stage of trying
- 55:32to find that stuff, it was back when it was dial up, he said.
- 55:35If they would just load slowly and then you got to wait.
- 55:37Yeah. Did I download a good picture or
- 55:39not? Because.
- 55:41Yeah. Like because always for top.
- 55:43Up breasts, Why are you loading from the ponytail?
- 55:46Yes, like I need to if I wasted my time because all I had was a
- 55:51text description of this. There was no thumbnail, no.
- 55:56That's right. Yeah.
- 55:58Video. What are you talking about?
- 56:00There's no such thing as video on the Internet.
- 56:02No. You know when that serves around
- 56:05when we're doing that, like it'll take like 5 to 10 minutes
- 56:07to download a song. Yes.
- 56:11Oh yeah. I used to put like 10.
- 56:14I used to line up 10 songs to download, then go to bed, bed.
- 56:18And in the morning three or four of them would have downloaded
- 56:21properly, a couple of them would have been corrupted and given my
- 56:24computer a virus. And then the two would just
- 56:27stuck at like 98% because no one was seeding.
- 56:30Yep. You don't know how good you got
- 56:33at people. Actually, we don't have other
- 56:35people listening to us. No, we don't.
- 56:37We don't. But I always do think too, like
- 56:41I'm constantly annoyed at my television right now because
- 56:44it's it's I mean, my TV is a computer, right?
- 56:46And it's a, it's a computer that's on the Internet and it
- 56:50takes computer TV shows from the Internet and plays them at will
- 56:53with very little restriction. And yet I get so annoyed when it
- 56:59doesn't work right. And I didn't get annoyed at my
- 57:02fucking 14 inch CRTS television that I used to have when I was a
- 57:09kid with only four channels. 4 channels just with ads that you
- 57:13can't it. Wasn't good if the ad you just
- 57:16put up with them. Yeah, there was.
- 57:17Yeah, there was no, there was no getting angry.
- 57:19That's just what. Television was like the picture
- 57:22would never quite be perfect on one channel and but if you moved
- 57:25it and wrecked the other 3 so you lived with that one.
- 57:27Exactly. You just knew that ABC was going
- 57:30to be in black and white because if you moved that thing, channel
- 57:3279 and 10 would be fucked and they were the important ones.
- 57:35Yes, God. All right, let's move on.
- 57:43We're just stuck an old big. Oh yeah, well, here's another
- 57:46old man thing. But we're we're we're getting
- 57:49close to moving over to the after party.
- 57:51So before we do, I did want to say that the Toxic Avenger, did
- 57:58you see the teaser trailer for this that came out this week?
- 58:01It didn't give anything away, but what we did get was the news
- 58:06that it is unrateable. The what is it?
- 58:10MPAA have refused to classify this film.
- 58:13Right. Oh, and really?
- 58:16Yeah. So it doesn't mean it can't be
- 58:18released. It just means that it limits
- 58:20where it where it can be. Yeah, it's like getting a cinema
- 58:22release. Yeah, that's right.
- 58:23But it was Australia released. Aware, yeah, they've deemed it
- 58:29unreleasable. Not safe for market, right?
- 58:33I want to see this. Because it contains ultraviolent
- 58:38toxic content, mutant nudity, splatter, monster corps, and
- 58:46piss play. I'm so happy they are releasing
- 58:54it because this has been. Yeah.
- 58:58Sort of been hiatus on the chopping block for quite some
- 59:00time, I know. And I want to see it because I
- 59:04want to understand why Peter Tinklage agreed to do this.
- 59:08But don't get me wrong, I would agree to do it.
- 59:10I would love to be in a Troma movie.
- 59:12I don't know why an established. Well, that's the whole thing
- 59:14that is wants to be in one officially a Troma movie, is it?
- 59:18But that's, well, I didn't think so.
- 59:20But this teaser trailer, which again, it doesn't give anything
- 59:22away, it looks extremely poor. But we've yeah, like with this
- 59:26platter laughter monster court like this is that's Truma.
- 59:30Yeah. I thought it was going to be
- 59:31like a dialed back version of. Yeah, I mean, it's even worded
- 59:35like tremor, right? You know what I mean?
- 59:36Like it's like like how they would would have said punk rock
- 59:39bandits, toxic sludge explosion mops.
- 59:44All right, I mean, I will be seeing this movie.
- 59:48Yeah, me too. But probably not in cinema see
- 59:51though, because I don't think this.
- 59:52I love this. Yeah.
- 59:54Ever been a non rated movie in Australian theatres?
- 59:59No that I can in. Fact, a lot of theaters won't
- 1:00:01even play R rated movies. Yeah, like a like.
- 1:00:04A lot of I think that's changed a bit now.
- 1:00:07Yeah, maybe it was like Deadpools and.
- 1:00:10R True. Yeah.
- 1:00:11When I worked at the Hayden Multiplex, if something was
- 1:00:14rated R, it just would not be played at our cinema.
- 1:00:19This was this was just as MA was coming in too.
- 1:00:21So just before MA came in, it was basically if it was M, it
- 1:00:24was fine. If it was R, forget it.
- 1:00:25Yep. But yes, no, this is going to be
- 1:00:29a great, I hope it's going to be a great movie because I like the
- 1:00:32talking avenger. Same like I grew up watching
- 1:00:36this. Probably should not have been
- 1:00:38watching this. Definitely shouldn't and they
- 1:00:40but they marketed to kids. It was an R rated movie and they
- 1:00:43made a spin off cartoon of it. Yes, I.
- 1:00:45Had action figures from it. I've got the action figures.
- 1:00:48Oh. Sweet.
- 1:00:50But even with it wasn't sex. No, it was just.
- 1:00:55Kind of like violence. There was never nudity or
- 1:00:58anything. It was.
- 1:00:59I mean, there was. Some it was heavily hinted at.
- 1:01:02Work walking around. Yeah, it was sexy ladies and
- 1:01:04stuff, but I mean, there was. Even in the sequel, I mean it
- 1:01:07was like he gets his blonde girlfriend and.
- 1:01:11Blind girl, Yeah. She could she like short dress
- 1:01:14and everything but it was never nude and there was a big like
- 1:01:16sex scene but you didn't see anything like it was all.
- 1:01:18But what gave it the AH was just violence and blood.
- 1:01:24Yeah, yeah, I might go washy original again.
- 1:01:30Yeah, I might too. Was it the second one or the
- 1:01:33third one where they went to Japan?
- 1:01:34I remember liking that one. I only found out recently that
- 1:01:39the second and the third one were meant to be one movie.
- 1:01:43Oh, they were meant to be 1 movie but they actually ended up
- 1:01:46filming so much that they had to split it out because they just
- 1:01:51kept filming. That's a.
- 1:01:52Great cheap way to have two movies for the price of 1.
- 1:01:55Yeah, but also, it's not like they're making a ton of money
- 1:01:59either. No, no.
- 1:02:02Very popular in the cult world. Yes, you know.
- 1:02:06We all knew about it. We all rented it.
- 1:02:08Yes man. And I got into like, I remember
- 1:02:10once I went and rented Tromeo and Juliet.
- 1:02:14Yes. James Gunn.
- 1:02:15Directly James Gunn. Boy, he was famous.
- 1:02:17Because he wrote that, I think. Yeah, but the guy behind the
- 1:02:21big, huge fat guy behind the counter at the video store was
- 1:02:26like, do you like Trima? I'm like, yes.
- 1:02:30He's like, great. I like Trima too.
- 1:02:32Let's fucking talk about Trima, you know, and it's just now this
- 1:02:36guy's my friend. We both like Trima.
- 1:02:38And he'll let me rate rent any R rated movie now.
- 1:02:42Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Locally so.
- 1:02:46Video source did not care. Oh.
- 1:02:49Yeah. Yeah, I've seen them look other
- 1:02:51people back, but I think I used to go in enough that they were
- 1:02:53just, you know, you know, and I. Think also I think they knew our
- 1:02:56parents too, like this community, you know what I mean?
- 1:02:59I'm like, I know your dad is like.
- 1:03:01Yeah. I'll ask him.
- 1:03:03Next time, yeah, you got some just random kid that's come in
- 1:03:05and or when your parents have been here, they've only let you
- 1:03:08get G movies like when your parents are here, they're
- 1:03:11letting you get this, so you're fine.
- 1:03:13Yeah, yeah, that's right. Oh, fuck my my mum cared.
- 1:03:16But my mum wasn't the one who drove me to the video store, My
- 1:03:18dad the one who took me to the video store, and he had no
- 1:03:21limits. But even if we look at like we
- 1:03:24spoke about a few weeks ago, I think like RoboCop, like with
- 1:03:28that traumatized us a little bit like with the acid of the
- 1:03:32getting splattered by the truck and stuff.
- 1:03:34We should not have watched back then, but.
- 1:03:36No, no any. And like when before I moved to
- 1:03:42Penrith, when I lived, when just in Warragamba, we didn't have a
- 1:03:46video store. We had a petrol station that had
- 1:03:49some tapes that you could rent and it they did not give a shit
- 1:03:54about things. But also, I don't even know if
- 1:03:57these had ratings on them because these were all like
- 1:03:59martial arts movies from the Philippines and shit like these
- 1:04:03were low quality schlock. And my dad was like, take what
- 1:04:09you want. The the at my petrol station
- 1:04:11video shop it was, I can't remember the price but you got
- 1:04:15them in groups of 10 so they would give you a box.
- 1:04:17God. Shit, 10 tapes and you could
- 1:04:19just wander around, fill the box with 10 tapes, take it up one
- 1:04:23week there's. Your yeah that they were not
- 1:04:24giving you real movies. They were.
- 1:04:27That was dodgy as hell. Great movies, fucking ninja
- 1:04:30movies and shit that I just fucking loved sword fight movies
- 1:04:34and. Yeah, if you're getting the box
- 1:04:36just 10 at a gut time that they're they're not worried
- 1:04:39about, they're not worried about if these are real or not.
- 1:04:42No, and I wasn't worried and for some reason my dad wasn't.
- 1:04:48But look, we've come to the end of the main show I think, so we
- 1:04:52should get a head up to after play soon.
- 1:04:54But still, if you do want to be join our Minecraft server, reach
