- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark Review podcast. I'm Megan,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a
- 0:16Speaker 1: former Hallmark hater. I got a little froggy in my
- 0:19Speaker 1: throat this morning. Today we are discussing Forgotten Holiday, which
- 0:22Speaker 1: originally aired on Saturday, October 24th on Hallmark Channel and
- 0:25Speaker 1: is now streaming on Hallmark +. We are everywhere on
- 0:30Speaker 1: social media as Girls Gone Hallmark. We'd love for you
- 0:32Speaker 1: to follow us on Instagram. To keep up with our
- 0:35Speaker 1: latest episodes, hot takes from us on Threads and Blue Sky,
- 0:38Speaker 1: let's talk Forgotten Holiday and start with a synopsis. When
- 0:42Speaker 1: Catherine panics and runs from her boyfriend Rob's surprise marriage proposal,
- 0:48Speaker 1: a devastating car accident leaves him with no memory of
- 0:51Speaker 1: the past year, including their relationship. Hoping to restore his memories,
- 0:55Speaker 1: Catherine agrees to retrace their romance, but as Rob begins
- 0:59Speaker 1: to remember, she fears he'll also remember the heartbreak that
- 1:03Speaker 1: sent him driving away in the first place. Was it devastating?
- 1:08Speaker 1: Was that little tree tap devastating? I thought it was
- 1:13Speaker 1: quite cinematic, actually. Oh, okay. I'm afraid what you thought
- 1:17Speaker 1: about this movie. No, I liked the movie. I just,
- 1:20Speaker 1: you know, there wasn't like big car crash budget. Exactly.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Jessica Harmon directed Forgotten Holiday. She also directed All's Fair
- 1:29Speaker 1: in Love and Mahjong and I'll Be Seeing You in 2026.
- 1:31Speaker 1: We're not talking about Jessica Harmon enough. No. We have
- 1:37Speaker 1: some new names this year that I feel like perhaps
- 1:40Speaker 1: have been neglected. Nicole Baxter is another one. Exactly. The
- 1:45Speaker 1: teleplay is by Tracy Andreen based on a story she
- 1:48Speaker 1: co-wrote with Lee Freelander. Andreen and Freelander have been collaborating
- 1:52Speaker 1: on Hallmark movies since at least 2017, so this is
- 1:55Speaker 1: a reunion of two longtime Hallmark creatives. Janelle Parrish stars
- 1:59Speaker 1: as Catherine Liu. We last saw Janelle on Hallmark earlier
- 2:02Speaker 1: this year in Two for Tea opposite Chris McNally, and
- 2:06Speaker 1: before that in 2025's Christmas on Duty. Remember, we did
- 2:09Speaker 1: not like that. Didn't like it. No, no. Daniel Listing
- 2:13Speaker 1: stars as Rob Ashford. We last saw Daniel on Hallmark
- 2:17Speaker 1: in August's Ozzy at Heart opposite Rhiannon Fish. Jen Oleksiuk
- 2:23Speaker 1: appears as Amy, Rob's sister. Jen has 50 acting credits
- 2:27Speaker 1: with appearances in the recent Love Finds You and An
- 2:29Speaker 1: Easter Bloom. Gabrielle Rose appears as Meryl, Rob's mom. We
- 2:34Speaker 1: last saw her in Nellie Knows Mysteries, All Manners of Murder,
- 2:37Speaker 1: as well as last year's Christmas Above the Clouds. Casey Manderson,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Steve McKay, Nat Buchanan, and Eric Yu round out the cast. Hey, Wendy,
- 2:47Speaker 1: what was your first impression of Forgotten Holiday? Excuse me,
- 2:51Speaker 1: but who let a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie sneak
- 2:54Speaker 1: into this year's countdown to Christmas? Oh, yes, yes, yes.
- 2:58Speaker 1: You should know that we received an email- about a
- 3:01Speaker 1: week ago from a listener who was expressing some displeasure
- 3:07Speaker 1: with Hallmark, basically saying like, she was like, I like
- 3:10Speaker 1: the comedy, but I miss like the deeply dramatic, heartfelt
- 3:16Speaker 1: Hallmark movies. And I had just watched this movie when
- 3:19Speaker 1: I responded and I said, I'm curious, what did you
- 3:22Speaker 1: think of Forgotten Holiday? Because this, that movie, that email
- 3:25Speaker 1: came in before the movie did. Yeah. And she was like,
- 3:27Speaker 1: I loved it. And so my first impression based on
- 3:31Speaker 1: that is if you've been looking for the drama on Hallmark,
- 3:33Speaker 1: you found it with this one. Were you kind of surprised?
- 3:37Speaker 1: I was surprised by the depth of emotion in this.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Me too. Yeah. Me too. Although it doesn't make sense,
- 3:44Speaker 1: but because it has that while you were sleeping vibe,
- 3:48Speaker 1: I guess I thought maybe we'd get a little more
- 3:50Speaker 1: comedy because it's based on like a little bit of misinformation,
- 3:54Speaker 1: but it is not a comedy. No, there's... comedic moments
- 3:57Speaker 1: there's some comedic moments I'm going to talk about a
- 3:59Speaker 1: few of them but I I agree overall pretty dramatic
- 4:05Speaker 1: yes can I talk a little bit more in my
- 4:08Speaker 1: likes about the I mean literally only because earlier this
- 4:14Speaker 1: year we did a stretch of reviews on Hallmark Hall
- 4:18Speaker 1: of Fame movies otherwise I would have no point of
- 4:20Speaker 1: reference right so while watching I was like this is
- 4:26Speaker 1: HOF caliber. Oh, yeah. In my opinion. Like, this could
- 4:29Speaker 1: have aired on, you know, ABC or CBS or whatever.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Saturday Night Movie, yeah. I totally thought. Movie of the week. Absolutely.
- 4:38Speaker 1: So we have sequence is the word I'm looking for.
- 4:41Speaker 1: The sequence from the proposal to the accident to Rob
- 4:46Speaker 1: being in the hospital, all that I thought was, like,
- 4:49Speaker 1: so compelling. Mm-hmm. Different on a dramatic level than what
- 4:54Speaker 1: we're used to on Countdown to Christmas. I mean, even,
- 4:58Speaker 1: you know, at one point we would be like, oh,
- 5:01Speaker 1: this would be on Hallmark. Movies in Misery. Yeah, exactly.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So I wonder. I still think it was more dramatic
- 5:09Speaker 1: than that. I do, too. I do, too. I said earlier, like,
- 5:13Speaker 1: I thought the accident sequence was kind of cinematic. I
- 5:17Speaker 1: know it was low budget. I mean, he did just. Yeah.
- 5:22Speaker 1: And you know it's coming. You know it's coming. But
- 5:25Speaker 1: like what I thought was so good was like leading
- 5:29Speaker 1: up to it. It was like his phone call to
- 5:30Speaker 1: the sister and the sister was like, come over. I'm like, oh, no,
- 5:33Speaker 1: here it is. Here's what's going to happen. So I
- 5:36Speaker 1: just thought it was really good. And then when Catherine
- 5:38Speaker 1: gets the phone call and like you hear sirens, even
- 5:41Speaker 1: though like I don't think she could literally hear the sirens,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but you could hear sirens. Yeah. You know, I just
- 5:46Speaker 1: thought it was really good. It gave it a lot
- 5:49Speaker 1: of like stakes. Mm-hmm. I really liked it. I really,
- 5:55Speaker 1: really enjoyed it. And I like that overall it wasn't
- 6:02Speaker 1: or it allowed our characters to be unhappy, to be hurt,
- 6:07Speaker 1: to be confused. It wasn't just like neatly wrapped up
- 6:12Speaker 1: for the sake of it because it's a holiday movie. Well,
- 6:15Speaker 1: I want to talk about that because there is a
- 6:17Speaker 1: moment in this movie where it could have been their
- 6:20Speaker 1: reconciliation and it's not. And I love that. And it's
- 6:24Speaker 1: the moment after this is after Rob has discovered what
- 6:29Speaker 1: Catherine has done. And then they they meet to kind
- 6:32Speaker 1: of discuss things and they both kind of lay all
- 6:35Speaker 1: their cards on the table and they explain what they've
- 6:38Speaker 1: been going through and and why things played out the
- 6:41Speaker 1: way they did. And it's So emotional. Like, in my notes,
- 6:45Speaker 1: I was like, these two are acting their asses off. Agreed. Like,
- 6:48Speaker 1: it is incredible, this moment between Daniela Singh and Janelle
- 6:53Speaker 1: Parrish as actors. And there is a part of you
- 6:56Speaker 1: that's like, oh, like, forgive each other. Be okay. But
- 7:02Speaker 1: it was nice that they didn't do that. That they just, like,
- 7:06Speaker 1: had to kind of sit in the discomfort of it
- 7:08Speaker 1: and find their back. And, of course, their actual... reconciliation
- 7:12Speaker 1: is more beautiful. That's such a good scene. Yeah, really
- 7:16Speaker 1: good scenes. I think Daniel Lissing gives maybe his best
- 7:20Speaker 1: Hallmark performance ever that I've seen. Of course, we didn't
- 7:23Speaker 1: watch One Calls the Heart, so we don't know. And
- 7:27Speaker 1: you didn't love Single on the 25th. I didn't. I
- 7:30Speaker 1: really did. I really did. Better in this, though? I
- 7:34Speaker 1: think he was better in this. This is a more
- 7:36Speaker 1: dramatic role. What was interesting is last year I interviewed
- 7:40Speaker 1: Daniela Singh prior to Single on the 25th. And one
- 7:42Speaker 1: of the things he said was whenever I play a character,
- 7:44Speaker 1: I kind of create this backstory for them in my head.
- 7:47Speaker 1: And I wanted to know so badly, like, what is
- 7:50Speaker 1: his backstory for Rob? Oh, I love it. The other thing...
- 7:54Speaker 1: While we're talking about him, it's in my did you
- 7:55Speaker 1: see that, but I'm really curious. Did you think he
- 7:58Speaker 1: was trying to do a bit of a New York accent,
- 8:00Speaker 1: like a real subtle New York accent? Hawaii. I don't know.
- 8:06Speaker 1: So Daniel Lissing is Australian. He speaks with an Australian accent,
- 8:09Speaker 1: but he does a beautiful American accent to the point
- 8:13Speaker 1: that when I first heard him speak. You were shocked? Yes,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I was surprised. I did not know those details. But
- 8:21Speaker 1: this felt a little bit different, and I felt like
- 8:23Speaker 1: he was leaning into a little bit of a, because
- 8:26Speaker 1: he is very much a New Yorker in this movie.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Did you feel like it was put on? I didn't
- 8:31Speaker 1: really notice it. No, it was not Kevin McGarrigan, the
- 8:34Speaker 1: Wedding Vale caricature accent. It was just real, real subtle.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Just kind of some of the turns of words. I
- 8:42Speaker 1: thought he was more in character in this movie than
- 8:46Speaker 1: I've probably ever seen him. Got it. Look, I loved him.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I thought he was great. I liked the lighter scenes
- 8:54Speaker 1: that he did with the actress who plays his sister. Yes.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I thought those were great. Those felt very much adult
- 9:01Speaker 1: brother and sister. When you have a good relationship with
- 9:04Speaker 1: an adult brother and sister. Yeah. Yeah, all the stuff
- 9:08Speaker 1: with his family I thought was really good. But when
- 9:12Speaker 1: he gets his memories back in that scene where he's
- 9:14Speaker 1: like in the kitchen and it's all like flooding back,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I was like, holy moly, this is amazing. I thought
- 9:21Speaker 1: he was amazing. Those memory sequences that obviously they had
- 9:26Speaker 1: to film, those two look like two people. Who are
- 9:31Speaker 1: so in love. Like those memory sequences are incredibly well done. Yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 1: I thought so too. And then there's a scene where
- 9:38Speaker 1: they talk about their first kiss and he goes, will
- 9:41Speaker 1: you kiss me first? She goes, I had to. Like,
- 9:43Speaker 1: what was her line? I had to. She says, I
- 9:46Speaker 1: had to. It couldn't be helped. I was like, oh
- 9:48Speaker 1: my gosh, that's such like a great line. Like, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: the way they, they have incredible banter. And at one
- 9:53Speaker 1: point they're on the phone with each other. This is
- 9:55Speaker 1: before they started dating. It's right after they've met. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: I was thinking about Lacey Chabert and Scott Michael Foster,
- 10:02Speaker 1: how there's a scene in Paris is always a good
- 10:04Speaker 1: idea where they're on the phone. And I feel like
- 10:07Speaker 1: they lost a little bit of the banter magic because
- 10:10Speaker 1: they're not in the same room with each other. And
- 10:12Speaker 1: I would imagine that's incredibly hard to do when you're
- 10:14Speaker 1: having a conversation with no one. In this case, Whether
- 10:19Speaker 1: we're going to give it to the director or the
- 10:21Speaker 1: actors or a combination thereof, they have incredible chemistry on
- 10:25Speaker 1: the phone where I have to imagine neither of them
- 10:27Speaker 1: is actually talking to anybody. I thought these were a
- 10:30Speaker 1: really nice match, these two. Back to the scene where
- 10:33Speaker 1: they talk about their first kiss. How stunning was that scene?
- 10:36Speaker 1: We've talked about a couple of movie scenes that have
- 10:39Speaker 1: stuck with us this year. This is going to be
- 10:41Speaker 1: one of them. The way it was shot with the
- 10:43Speaker 1: fireplace behind them. And it was just this beautiful, warm
- 10:47Speaker 1: glow of the fireplace. And it was just like their
- 10:49Speaker 1: faces like talking so intimately. It was stunning. Yeah. So good. Yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I want to talk about the music. Good music. Great
- 10:58Speaker 1: music budget. The movie opens with a song. My husband's like, oh,
- 11:01Speaker 1: they got that Michael Buble money. It's not Michael Buble.
- 11:04Speaker 1: It's an artist named Johnny Blue. But they do have
- 11:08Speaker 1: a Brett Eldridge song in this. And I only knew
- 11:10Speaker 1: at the very end I stopped to look at the
- 11:12Speaker 1: music credits. And even my husband, who is a big
- 11:14Speaker 1: music fan and a big Michael Buble fan, was impressed
- 11:17Speaker 1: by the sound of that artist. But they have a
- 11:18Speaker 1: Brett Eldridge song. But they have quite a bit of
- 11:22Speaker 1: great music in this movie. Did he like this movie?
- 11:25Speaker 1: He did. I'm surprised. It's not like his usual jam. No.
- 11:30Speaker 1: He liked it. It was Christmas enough for him. Yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 1: In terms of the way it looked. Yeah. Yeah. He goes,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I got to watch Winter Wonderlands. I was like. Okay, wait.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Can I give you just a couple of other little
- 11:41Speaker 1: likes that I. We talked about the actress who plays
- 11:45Speaker 1: Rob's sister. I thought she was particularly good. Put this
- 11:48Speaker 1: woman in more Hallmark movies. Yeah. really enjoyed her when
- 11:52Speaker 1: she's like, plus my mom's intense when she's talking about it.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that's my favorite line of the movie.
- 11:56Speaker 1: She's like, are you going to tell your mom? And
- 11:57Speaker 1: she's like, no, my mom's really intense. So that was great.
- 12:00Speaker 1: And then speaking of the mom, Gabrielle Rose, perfectly cast
- 12:07Speaker 1: as she's, I can't remember her job. She's either like
- 12:10Speaker 1: the DA. She's a retired judge. Yeah. I mean, she
- 12:13Speaker 1: was no nonsense. Yes. And there were scenes between she
- 12:17Speaker 1: and Janelle Parrish that were like so strained that I
- 12:21Speaker 1: was like, oh my God, I felt that as a viewer. Like,
- 12:26Speaker 1: I would never want to be in a conversation with
- 12:29Speaker 1: this woman. Like, no, no, no, no, no. I thought
- 12:31Speaker 1: they were so great. The dad, his dad was really funny.
- 12:36Speaker 1: The brother-in-law was really funny. Or not funny, but just funny. No,
- 12:40Speaker 1: the brother-in-law was funny. Like, he was nice, light, comedic relief. Yeah,
- 12:45Speaker 1: but you know how we've been talking about lately how
- 12:46Speaker 1: we have just, like, these other characters that just act as, like, somebody?
- 12:53Speaker 1: They are kind of fully developed, right? Yeah, you have
- 12:55Speaker 1: a sense of who they are. Yes. I just— good stuff. Oh,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and I thought their wardrobe was impeccable, too, on everybody. Yeah. Like, especially, like,
- 13:06Speaker 1: the mom was— That's what you would expect like a
- 13:09Speaker 1: retired judge to be like. And Janelle Parrish looked beautiful
- 13:14Speaker 1: in all her things. That green gown at the end. Yes. Oh. Right? God, stunning. Mm-hmm.
- 13:21Speaker 1: So good. A moment for the dress. Very good. Do
- 13:24Speaker 1: you have any more likes? Two little ones. I actually
- 13:28Speaker 1: really liked their night with Mr. Shipley, their little detour
- 13:31Speaker 1: from their redating. I just thought it was so warm
- 13:35Speaker 1: and lovely when they're like, should we order a pizza?
- 13:36Speaker 1: And he's like, I got nothing else to do. There
- 13:38Speaker 1: was something I, this movie was very warm. It was
- 13:42Speaker 1: working for me. And because I'm such a sap when
- 13:44Speaker 1: Rob says, I've fallen in love with you twice. The
- 13:47Speaker 1: first time I thought I knew you. And this time
- 13:48Speaker 1: I do. I mean, that's just, I just was like, oh,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I just. Let's talk about that for a second. So
- 13:55Speaker 1: I did think when they finally get to that conversation
- 14:00Speaker 1: about where, not where things have gone wrong, but that
- 14:03Speaker 1: this is outside the gala where he says this. Not that.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You're thinking of their, like, their very mature conversation that
- 14:11Speaker 1: two adults have. You know, first of all, I thought
- 14:17Speaker 1: it was really good. Meaning, like, I was happy it wasn't, like,
- 14:22Speaker 1: continued to be some, like, misunderstanding or, like, some manufactured
- 14:27Speaker 1: argument or whatever. And I thought it was an interesting
- 14:32Speaker 1: look at, like, people who are not being, like, Their
- 14:36Speaker 1: true selves to each other. I'm going to talk a
- 14:39Speaker 1: little bit in my wishes where I didn't feel like
- 14:41Speaker 1: the puzzle pieces were like fitting quite exactly right in
- 14:47Speaker 1: terms of like that storyline. But I just thought that
- 14:49Speaker 1: that conversation was so good and what we often miss
- 14:55Speaker 1: in Hallmark movies, you know. Yeah. You know how we
- 14:58Speaker 1: yell about like, hey, this would be handled in an
- 15:00Speaker 1: easy 30-second conversation. And this was like a really deep
- 15:04Speaker 1: conversation that I thought was that they let like breathe
- 15:09Speaker 1: a little bit. Yeah, yeah. Anyway. Let's take a quick
- 15:12Speaker 1: break and come back with our wishes. Okay. All right.
- 15:22Speaker 1: What did you wish for? I have a couple of wishes.
- 15:27Speaker 1: First of all, I needed to understand Catherine's fears much earlier.
- 15:32Speaker 1: So she runs away from Rob's proposal, right? Mm-hmm. She
- 15:38Speaker 1: almost becomes a villain. Yes. Villain light. Yes. Because in
- 15:44Speaker 1: Rob's sister's eyes, she's like, why did you walk out
- 15:49Speaker 1: on the proposal? And we still don't get an explanation. Mm-hmm.
- 15:55Speaker 1: What I didn't like is we as the viewers were
- 16:01Speaker 1: learning kind of at the same pace that Rob is learning. Oh, yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 1: And I didn't like that. I thought it would help
- 16:08Speaker 1: me root for them to get back together more during
- 16:11Speaker 1: this like redate, which I didn't like either. If we
- 16:15Speaker 1: understood the background of why she like freaked out that night. Well,
- 16:19Speaker 1: for me, I don't like the background of why she
- 16:21Speaker 1: freaked out that night. Go ahead. I don't like that
- 16:23Speaker 1: I was divorced 15 years ago and now I'm ruined forever.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Did you notice that she was like, I was married
- 16:28Speaker 1: in college? I was like, what? I mean, that's the
- 16:31Speaker 1: only way to make the timeline work. I know. But
- 16:35Speaker 1: I just was like, this is this like romantically jinxed
- 16:41Speaker 1: framing of it all. I was like... buy it i
- 16:44Speaker 1: don't buy that you look at a relationship that failed
- 16:47Speaker 1: in college when you were a child and go oh
- 16:51Speaker 1: yeah i guess relationships aren't for me and then of
- 16:55Speaker 1: course we learn later in the movie that her dad
- 16:57Speaker 1: has kind of set this standard like he is not
- 17:00Speaker 1: good in relationships he runs from relationships i did kind
- 17:04Speaker 1: of like that framing we don't get it until the
- 17:06Speaker 1: very end where he's like oh I've done this to you. Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 1: That's why I don't like that. I'm like, let us
- 17:13Speaker 1: get all that story. Front load that for us. We
- 17:15Speaker 1: get plenty of her saying like this relationship ended. I
- 17:19Speaker 1: don't know if like I am any good at this,
- 17:23Speaker 1: but it's, I don't even know if she realizes what
- 17:27Speaker 1: a big role her dad plays in the way she
- 17:30Speaker 1: treats relationships. I think to your point, that's a more
- 17:35Speaker 1: compelling story. Like my, This parent that I am so
- 17:39Speaker 1: close to has set the example that relationships don't work.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And therefore, that's the example I followed. Not my college
- 17:49Speaker 1: marriage didn't last. What a shock. Yeah. Yeah. Right. What
- 17:53Speaker 1: a shock. When Rob calls Amy after the proposal and
- 17:57Speaker 1: she's like, come over. I'm like, Amy, he was just dumped.
- 18:00Speaker 1: You go to him. Yeah, but Rob needs to get
- 18:03Speaker 1: in the accident. I know. I know. But I was like,
- 18:07Speaker 1: get in your car, babe. You're the big sister. You
- 18:11Speaker 1: go do the consoling. She's in bed already. No, I
- 18:16Speaker 1: hear you. I know he needed to get in the accident,
- 18:18Speaker 1: but I did think, you know, if you call me
- 18:21Speaker 1: and you're like devastated, am I like, yeah, drive over here.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I'm not getting out of my nice warm bed. Don't
- 18:28Speaker 1: make me put on shoes for this. I'll be a
- 18:32Speaker 1: good friend, but only as long as I don't have
- 18:34Speaker 1: to leave the house. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we needed to,
- 18:38Speaker 1: we needed Rob to get in the car accident. I know.
- 18:41Speaker 1: But I hear you. Yeah, that was funny. But I
- 18:43Speaker 1: love that. I love that whole scene how she was like,
- 18:45Speaker 1: answered the phone. She's like, how'd it go? You know? Yes.
- 18:50Speaker 1: That was good. Okay. Here's my other biggest wish. Can
- 18:53Speaker 1: you explain why Rob forgot that he loved Christmas so much?
- 18:57Speaker 1: Because my feeling is that He forgot the things that
- 19:04Speaker 1: caused him trauma. So he forgot Catherine because her running
- 19:09Speaker 1: away was traumatic to him. And because he was proposing
- 19:13Speaker 1: at Christmas, like those things were all tied together. Like
- 19:17Speaker 1: his love of Christmas was such a big part of
- 19:20Speaker 1: their relationship and proposal. That is my understanding. Well, that
- 19:24Speaker 1: explains my own trauma and my own dislike for the holidays.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Is that something you didn't understand? No. I
- 19:35Speaker 1: do understand that, but like... That is a realization you're
- 19:40Speaker 1: coming to right now? No, like I knew that before,
- 19:43Speaker 1: but like now as you're like spelling it out in
- 19:46Speaker 1: terms of Rob, I'm like, oh yeah, that totally makes sense.
- 19:50Speaker 1: sense because I do that too. Like that is my
- 19:53Speaker 1: own experience. Yeah. Here is $ 250. Thank you so much.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I guess it had to happen. But when Rob realizes
- 20:10Speaker 1: that Amy, why do I keep saying Amy? That's his sister.
- 20:13Speaker 1: When Rob realizes that Catherine has been lying to him
- 20:15Speaker 1: and he like refuses to listen to her. My question is,
- 20:20Speaker 1: do you think Catherine's a bad person for following through
- 20:24Speaker 1: on the redating without him having all of the information?
- 20:28Speaker 1: I feel, I don't feel that Catherine's a bad person.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I do feel it's unfair to Rob though. Yeah. Because
- 20:34Speaker 1: like his family, well. But what's she going to do?
- 20:37Speaker 1: The sister knew. The mom had real. Mom figured it out.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Mom figured it out. It shouldn't be on Catherine. I
- 20:46Speaker 1: don't know. It was a terrible situation to be in.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I think they should have told Rob that, hey, you proposed.
- 20:57Speaker 1: It didn't. go as planned, and then you got in
- 21:00Speaker 1: this car accident. But they were between a rock and
- 21:02Speaker 1: a hard place because the doctor said the best way
- 21:04Speaker 1: for you to get your memories back is for you to, like,
- 21:07Speaker 1: relive these situations. And so there's no way Rob was
- 21:10Speaker 1: going to then be willing to relive these situations. So
- 21:14Speaker 1: just relive the Cinderella part of it? The Mary Poppins
- 21:19Speaker 1: part of it? Yeah, I mean, it's a good point.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I don't... What's the... Am I... Talking along the fairy
- 21:25Speaker 1: tale part of it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like that's ridiculous.
- 21:29Speaker 1: That's ridiculous. Yeah, fair enough. In a year, a normal
- 21:34Speaker 1: person experiences highs and lows. And so the doctor just
- 21:38Speaker 1: is like, oh, you had all this great stuff with
- 21:41Speaker 1: this woman and therefore redate. Which I hated that they
- 21:46Speaker 1: were calling it that. Didn't work for you? Redate? Yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 1: relive the last year you i don't know i thought
- 21:56Speaker 1: it was kind of silly okay how about just like
- 21:58Speaker 1: get to know this woman that you fell in love
- 22:01Speaker 1: with the last year again yeah but then they don't
- 22:04Speaker 1: have the contrast of like look at this first date
- 22:06Speaker 1: you took me on that's not actually something either of
- 22:09Speaker 1: us really cares about fair but then yeah fair but
- 22:13Speaker 1: they did end up like ditching those plans altogether yeah
- 22:17Speaker 1: and that's where that contrast lives where they're like finding
- 22:19Speaker 1: themselves yeah it's it's complicated Are you, do you have
- 22:23Speaker 1: more wishes? I, just one little one. I did think
- 22:27Speaker 1: it was the tiniest bit slow at some parts, but.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I don't disagree. That might be an us problem. It
- 22:35Speaker 1: could have been. I think maybe we want snappy and
- 22:39Speaker 1: this wasn't not a snappy movie. It wasn't. Yeah. Let's talk.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Did you see that? Hey, spoonful of comfort. Loved by
- 22:47Speaker 1: the spoonful. Not even mad about it. I was like, hey,
- 22:50Speaker 1: you found your target audience because I think that's a
- 22:52Speaker 1: great idea. Right? I didn't know soup delivery existed. That's
- 22:57Speaker 1: a great care package. Totally. I was like, job well done.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Advertising dollars well spent. Yeah. We're going to review another
- 23:05Speaker 1: movie here in a minute where I thought, excellent. Excellent
- 23:07Speaker 1: product placement. This makes sense. Oh, I forgot about that.
- 23:10Speaker 1: But yes. Uh-huh. Right. Right. Also, I really love the
- 23:14Speaker 1: Sam Darnold joke. I don't know if you got it
- 23:17Speaker 1: or not. Do you know who Sam Darnold is? I don't. Okay.
- 23:20Speaker 1: So when Rob wakes up in the hospital and he's
- 23:21Speaker 1: talking to his brother-in-law and he goes, Sam Darnold won
- 23:24Speaker 1: a Super Bowl. So Sam Darnold is a quarterback and
- 23:28Speaker 1: he played for the Jets and he was terrible. Terrible.
- 23:33Speaker 1: These guys are obviously Jets fans. And then Sam Darnold
- 23:36Speaker 1: went on. To play for some other teams and then
- 23:38Speaker 1: won a Super Bowl with another team. So he can't
- 23:41Speaker 1: believe Sam Darnold, who was the quarterback of the Jets,
- 23:44Speaker 1: won a Super Bowl. I thought it was a great joke.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You know, we have the, that's your fiancé call out,
- 23:51Speaker 1: which is straight up a line from while you were
- 23:53Speaker 1: sleeping when they're in the hospital. When they're like, who's that?
- 23:57Speaker 1: That's her fiancé. I thought he played that scene so great. Hi. Hi. Oh,
- 24:02Speaker 1: my husband laughed out loud. So did I. It was great. Yeah,
- 24:07Speaker 1: that was really funny. Okay, I've got some questions about
- 24:10Speaker 1: the cookie baking extravaganza. Okay. They make 900 cookies. I
- 24:15Speaker 1: think that's 63 batches. Like, how many... You did the math?
- 24:20Speaker 1: How many... ovens could they possibly have in their standard
- 24:27Speaker 1: residential kitchen? Because my husband was, I was like, this
- 24:29Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. And so my husband's like, well, we
- 24:31Speaker 1: have three ovens. I'm like, yeah. And that's a lot.
- 24:33Speaker 1: He's like, well, look at their big kitchen. I'm like,
- 24:35Speaker 1: there's no way they have more than three. There's no way.
- 24:37Speaker 1: And where are they taking them? It's like the middle
- 24:40Speaker 1: of the night and they're like, we're off to deliver them.
- 24:42Speaker 1: And were they delivering them to schools? Where were they going?
- 24:44Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. First of all, Sugar
- 24:47Speaker 1: cookies in my, they were sugar cookies, right? That were decorated. Yeah,
- 24:51Speaker 1: but they didn't. Yeah, are not good. Okay. First of all,
- 24:53Speaker 1: they're so labor intensive, in my opinion, to make a
- 24:56Speaker 1: sugar cookie. The fact that they're trying, and they were
- 24:58Speaker 1: like beautifully decorated when you zoomed in on them. It
- 25:00Speaker 1: takes like five minutes a cookie. You're not making 900
- 25:02Speaker 1: cookies like that. And you got to bake them. They
- 25:05Speaker 1: got to cool. You got to do them. We know
- 25:08Speaker 1: you got to do them in layers. And at one
- 25:09Speaker 1: point they're rolling out dough and they're each using these
- 25:11Speaker 1: tiny little cutting boards. And I was like, roll it
- 25:13Speaker 1: out on the counter. What are we doing here? Yeah. But,
- 25:18Speaker 1: you know, I don't like a sugar. Like, I think
- 25:19Speaker 1: a sugar cookie is beautiful, but I don't want to
- 25:22Speaker 1: eat a frosted sugar cookie. Oh, really? But as we're
- 25:24Speaker 1: watching this, my husband's like, where can we get those?
- 25:26Speaker 1: And I was like, why do you want them? He
- 25:28Speaker 1: wants a sugar cookie? Like a frosted sugar cookie. I'm like,
- 25:32Speaker 1: where can you get those? I don't know. Apparently, I
- 25:35Speaker 1: got to find out. $ 5 a cookie. I know. I
- 25:40Speaker 1: have a question about the cookies. Because when they go
- 25:44Speaker 1: the second time. Yeah. At the end. There's a scene
- 25:48Speaker 1: where they're like, we need somebody as tribute to eat
- 25:51Speaker 1: this cookie, to try this cookie. And it looks like
- 25:53Speaker 1: it's a burnt cookie. And they have like this big
- 25:56Speaker 1: like laugh about it. And I'm like, what is this
- 25:58Speaker 1: a callback to? Because I don't remember in the first
- 26:02Speaker 1: cookie scene. I have no memory. Having some, you know,
- 26:07Speaker 1: like a, is that a fever dream? I had some
- 26:09Speaker 1: weird dreams last night. So I'm pretty sure that was
- 26:12Speaker 1: part of the movie. I walked into my daughter's room
- 26:14Speaker 1: this morning. I said, good morning. And she goes, North Adams.
- 26:16Speaker 1: And I go, what? Because that's one of the towns
- 26:19Speaker 1: we were just in. She's dreaming about Boston? And I
- 26:21Speaker 1: was like, she goes, it's a school. I'm like, it's not.
- 26:25Speaker 1: And like, she was clearly still asleep. Oh, funny. I'm like,
- 26:28Speaker 1: what are you talking about? She goes, I don't know.
- 26:30Speaker 1: So anyway. You want to hear the dream I had
- 26:33Speaker 1: last night? Yeah. I was at some like very small
- 26:36Speaker 1: wedding and I went to go use the porta potty.
- 26:40Speaker 1: It was like a mobile porta potty. And it started
- 26:43Speaker 1: rolling away? I ended up driving it on the street.
- 26:49Speaker 1: What is happening here? You know, every time I use
- 26:52Speaker 1: a porta potty, I'm afraid it's going to tip over.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Every single time. I don't think about that. But now
- 26:57Speaker 1: I'm going to be fearful that I'm going to drive away.
- 27:00Speaker 1: It was like I'm driving in like an upright porta potty.
- 27:04Speaker 1: It was so weird. And then I missed a turn
- 27:07Speaker 1: and I had to like sit in the traffic again.
- 27:10Speaker 1: It was really weird. A port-a-potty at a wedding is
- 27:14Speaker 1: truly tragic. It was really weird. I took some melatonin
- 27:19Speaker 1: last night. Oh, you got wild dreams? I had some
- 27:22Speaker 1: weird dreams. Like a sleepy time tea? Sleepy time tea
- 27:25Speaker 1: gives me the wildest dreams. I'm scared of sleepy time
- 27:31Speaker 1: tea because you said that. Like disturbing. I will never,
- 27:35Speaker 1: ever again. that might be it other than there is
- 27:39Speaker 1: a family stone reference in this movie which we appreciated
- 27:42Speaker 1: and now they're making a remake the family's stone oh
- 27:45Speaker 1: are they yeah i can't really remember that movie other
- 27:49Speaker 1: than it has like a really big cast like sarah
- 27:53Speaker 1: jessica parker is in it right and yeah well and
- 27:55Speaker 1: diane keaton is in it um r.i.p and is sick
- 28:01Speaker 1: in the movie coach in that movie too I don't remember.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I've only seen it once. People love that movie. I
- 28:07Speaker 1: don't get the hype. Sorry. All right. Do you have
- 28:11Speaker 1: any more did you see that? That's it. What did
- 28:15Speaker 1: you rate Forgotten Holiday? I think it's the best of
- 28:18Speaker 1: the season so far. I gave it 4.25 stars. Wow,
- 28:22Speaker 1: that's a... I gave it four stars. Oh. Interesting. So
- 28:27Speaker 1: you and I have two different best ofs so far,
- 28:29Speaker 1: just as we're keeping track. Because my best of so
- 28:32Speaker 1: far was Holiday Touchdown. And this comes in number two
- 28:37Speaker 1: with 0.25 fewer stars. Fun. Really? Wow. If you'll recall,
- 28:46Speaker 1: ratings here, pure vibes. Totally. But I stand by Holiday
- 28:49Speaker 1: Touchdown being a great movie and, in my opinion, the
- 28:53Speaker 1: best of the franchise. Hey, thanks for listening to this
