- 0:08Speaker 2: your confession? What is your secret? 833-787-1029. Doesn't matter what
- 0:12Speaker 2: it is. Bring it on. We do Dirty Little Secrets
- 0:14Speaker 2: 730 and 930. You have one. So what's going on?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so if I'm being honest, this could completely destroy
- 0:23Speaker 1: my relationship with my sister if she ever found out.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I anonymously reported her and her husband to CPS. And honestly,
- 0:32Speaker 1: I don't regret it at all.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Whoa. To CPS, to Child Protective Services.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Your sister?
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Why?
- 0:41Speaker 1: So they have two young kids, six and eight. And
- 0:44Speaker 1: for years, they've been very open about the fact that
- 0:48Speaker 1: they use a belt to discipline them. And I mean,
- 0:51Speaker 1: I'm not talking about something that I've just heard about either.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I've like... actually seen the aftermath and these kids come
- 0:58Speaker 1: over to my house and I've seen the marks and
- 1:01Speaker 1: welts on the backs of their legs more times than
- 1:03Speaker 1: I can count and yes I'll be the first person
- 1:07Speaker 1: to admit that their kids can be like bad bad
- 1:10Speaker 1: like they're wild they don't listen they're constantly getting into
- 1:14Speaker 1: something but I mean, they're six and they're eight.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 1: So a couple of weeks ago, we were at their
- 1:22Speaker 1: house and one of the kids got into trouble. And
- 1:25Speaker 1: my brother-in-law made another comment about how he is going
- 1:28Speaker 1: to whip them into shape. And I just, I don't know,
- 1:33Speaker 1: something in me snapped and me and my sister got
- 1:37Speaker 1: into an argument about it. And she told me that
- 1:41Speaker 1: they're her kids and this is how they discipline them
- 1:43Speaker 1: and I need to stay out of it. So I
- 1:45Speaker 1: just left, you know, but the entire drive home, I'm
- 1:49Speaker 1: thinking like, what if staying out of it makes me
- 1:51Speaker 1: part of the problem?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. So you decided to do something about it and, um, Now,
- 1:58Speaker 2: were you and your sister, were you, like, I know
- 2:00Speaker 2: some people spank, some people don't. Belt is a little
- 2:02Speaker 2: bit different than, were you both, were you raised like
- 2:05Speaker 2: this where you would get, you know, quote, whipped?
- 2:08Speaker 1: No.
- 2:08Speaker 2: No?
- 2:10Speaker 4: No.
- 2:10Speaker 1: My sister and I were not raised like this. Our
- 2:12Speaker 1: parents did not beat us with belts, you know, like.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 1: This totally comes from her husband. That's how he grew up.
- 2:19Speaker 1: He's very old school. He'll say things like my dad
- 2:23Speaker 1: whipped me and I turned out fine or kids today
- 2:26Speaker 1: need more of this and stuff, you know? I'm sorry. Yeah, no.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But when you're hitting a child hard enough with a
- 2:34Speaker 1: belt that they're like regularly showing up with marks and welts, that's.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Beyond anything that I possibly know.
- 2:42Speaker 2: So you call CPS anonymously, of course. What do you
- 2:46Speaker 2: tell them?
- 2:47Speaker 1: Well, I didn't give them my name. I just told
- 2:50Speaker 1: them that I've personally seen like these welts and things
- 2:55Speaker 1: and I let them decide, you know, what needs to
- 2:58Speaker 1: happen next. I don't want their children like taken away
- 3:02Speaker 1: from them. That's not my goal at all. You know,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I love my sister. I love them. And I know
- 3:08Speaker 1: she loves her kids. I'm hoping somebody showing up and
- 3:12Speaker 1: like asking questions makes them start taking this more seriously.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So that's what you want them to do. You bet
- 3:19Speaker 2: you want, you want it to scare her a little bit.
- 3:22Speaker 4: It's just not that simple. They're going to show up
- 3:24Speaker 4: and they're going to, they will, They file a report.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Well, these kids could get taken.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Away like that.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I don't think they're going to take it away right away.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Not right away. But I mean, they're under under the radar.
- 3:35Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 3:35Speaker 2: They should be.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I mean, and I get it.
- 3:38Speaker 4: But like, I think you let your temper get get
- 3:40Speaker 4: the best of you should have at least had a
- 3:42Speaker 4: conversation with your sister.
- 3:43Speaker 2: She tried to. Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 4: But I mean, both of them are heated. You don't
- 3:47Speaker 4: just sneak off and call it. CPS is serious. Well,
- 3:50Speaker 4: so is leaving belt whips. I mean, I'm not going to.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You're old school, though. Who thinks it's fine?
- 3:56Speaker 3: I'm old school like your brother-in-law.
- 3:58Speaker 4: I got whooped. I got whooped by my mom, my dad.
- 4:00Speaker 4: To the point where it was leaving marks and welts?
- 4:02Speaker 3: I mean, no. Welts? Not welts.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Consistently?
- 4:06Speaker 3: I didn't swept up. I think one of my.
- 4:09Speaker 4: When my grandma whooped me with a switch, I did
- 4:11Speaker 4: have a little welt, but that was just because it
- 4:13Speaker 4: was a big old switch.
- 4:14Speaker 2: I don't know what the law is, but I think
- 4:17Speaker 2: if I remember, we looked into this one time, I
- 4:19Speaker 2: think the law was basically if you are, you can
- 4:22Speaker 2: do this kind of, it's not illegal to use a belt.
- 4:24Speaker 2: It's basically a weapon. But if you're using it and
- 4:26Speaker 2: it's leaving injuries to a child, I think that's where
- 4:29Speaker 2: it becomes a major problem.
- 4:30Speaker 3: If this happened at school, it'd be an issue. I mean,
- 4:32Speaker 3: but there's still schools.
- 4:33Speaker 2: If you did this to an adult, this would be
- 4:34Speaker 2: an issue. There's still schools that use belts.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Not belts.
- 4:37Speaker 2: They have paddles.
- 4:38Speaker 4: There's still schools out there that have corporal punishment.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Like outside of Houston, I know. I remember I looked
- 4:45Speaker 3: it up.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Like recently?
- 4:47Speaker 3: I looked it up a while back.
- 4:48Speaker 2: No way. I'm telling you. I don't think so. But anyway,
- 4:51Speaker 2: so you call them. You say you don't feel bad
- 4:53Speaker 2: about it. I mean, I'm sure it was a tough decision.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Does anything happen yet or not yet?
- 4:58Speaker 1: So my sister just recently reached out to me and
- 5:03Speaker 1: said that somebody reported them. And she's obviously furious about it.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And she's trying to figure out who did it. Um,
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'm just like sitting there listening to her talk about
- 5:12Speaker 1: what a horrible person would do this to her family.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And I'm like knowing the entire time that it was me.
- 5:19Speaker 3: You know, you're brave.
- 5:21Speaker 2: You're very brave. I trust that you made a decision
- 5:25Speaker 2: after seeing the kids consistently with injuries on them. Right. And,
- 5:29Speaker 2: and trying to talk to him afterwards. I can't blame
- 5:32Speaker 2: you for doing something about it. I can't.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I'm not saying you can't spank your kids. I'm not
- 5:37Speaker 2: saying that either. But you shouldn't leave injuries to the
- 5:40Speaker 2: kids consistent.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Okay, that, yeah, I agree with that.
- 5:44Speaker 1: She's my sister.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I love her.
- 5:46Speaker 1: But they're also my niece and nephew, and I love
- 5:48Speaker 1: them too. Yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I did what I did because I felt like somebody
- 5:54Speaker 1: had to stand up for those kids. And I don't
- 5:56Speaker 1: think they were going to change unless I, like.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I don't like the vibe of the guy. Right. I
- 6:02Speaker 2: don't know. I automatically just go, he's influencing her to
- 6:06Speaker 2: do things that she doesn't seem comfortable with, but maybe
- 6:09Speaker 2: I'm wrong. I don't know.
- 6:10Speaker 3: She's going to stand by her husband, though.
- 6:12Speaker 2: At some point, stand by your kids. Either way, I
- 6:17Speaker 2: know we're going to get calls about this, and I'm good.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I want people to call in and let me know
- 6:20Speaker 2: what you think, whether you did the right thing or not.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I think... You followed your gut instinct, and I don't
- 6:25Speaker 2: think usually with women, your intuition is spot on. Yep. Right.
- 6:29Speaker 2: So let us know what happens.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Thank you for saying that.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Good luck with everything.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Thank you, guys. I appreciate it.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I mean, she knows. You know, I feel like she
- 6:38Speaker 2: knows what's best in that situation. I didn't see the welts. Yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 2: If we were to see that and see it consistently,
- 6:44Speaker 2: that's where it gets weird to me. Exactly. You know,
- 6:46Speaker 2: the belt is one thing, but you're using it consistently
- 6:48Speaker 2: to the point you're leaving a lot of welts. This
- 6:51Speaker 2: is how we discipline?
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Repeatedly? It's not the way I personally do it.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I'm not against using, you know, spankings and whatnot, but just,
- 7:02Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:02Speaker 1: She knows.
- 7:03Speaker 2: She knows. Something's not right. Yeah, we'll find out what happens.
