- 2:48We are all back together once again.
- 2:51Only took like 3 weeks. Tally Shelton.
- 2:53Welcome back boys. Thank you, Sir.
- 2:59Hello. What's going on fellas?
- 3:00What's going on fellas? Always glad to get the, the, the
- 3:04full boat here in the house, especially with, you know, a, a,
- 3:11a big trip down to Florida State this week and shortly we'll have
- 3:17somebody. On there that can tell some
- 3:18more. About that.
- 3:22Oh yeah, ingestible. We got a little bit all right.
- 3:24We got a new little setup, don't we?
- 3:29New. Setup.
- 3:29We got a new little setup, don't we?
- 3:31It looks different on my screen. The layout.
- 3:34Is the layout different? Oh, do you have the the vertical
- 3:38thing turned on? Yeah, that that's only for the
- 3:41gram. Everything else is going big.
- 3:44Yeah, yeah. Going if it's messing with you
- 3:46like it did me last week, it messed with me hard last week.
- 3:48I was like, Brian, what the you can hide.
- 3:51You hit the little button on the left, it'll hide it from you.
- 3:55But yeah, you are right, Brian, in just a few minutes, we are
- 3:58going to be bringing on Jesse Conger.
- 4:01Hope I pronounced his last name right from Plant to Spear.
- 4:04If I did, Jesse, I'm sorry, It won't be the first.
- 4:06It won't be the last name I've mispronounced.
- 4:09Going to bring him on in just a couple minutes.
- 4:12We're going to tell the truth, not about football, but about
- 4:15basketball. Shelton did a season preview
- 4:17right up for the key play, if you hadn't seen that.
- 4:20He's got thoughts. We've got thoughts on the
- 4:23opening two games because something's brewing down there.
- 4:29Going to give Shelton and Tally a little talk time when it comes
- 4:32to the coaching search since they've been off a couple weeks.
- 4:35Let them get in on that. And then, as always, we'll make
- 4:39our predictions for the game and then some big screeners that I
- 4:42don't really want to talk about because it won't pretty last.
- 4:45Week Curtis did not have a good week last week.
- 4:48Big old doughnut. But yeah, let's tally Shelton.
- 4:54Anything to add before we bring on Jesse here and start talking
- 4:57about this Florida State game Saturday night 7:30?
- 5:01Well, I'm glad that Hokey Hoops is back.
- 5:04I certainly think, you know, weren't with.
- 5:06It feels like another year where football season, you know,
- 5:09didn't really deliver. And so we're kind of just, you
- 5:12know, trying to get through the winter season and unfortunately,
- 5:15basketball has been kind of underperformed in the last two
- 5:16years, but they're back again now.
- 5:18So we can finally have something to look forward to as hockey
- 5:20fans during the winter and and wrestling too.
- 5:22Shout out to wrestling. They got some.
- 5:23They got lots of momentum as well that.
- 5:24Was a good start with them and obviously Neo is is is the
- 5:28truth. He's showing out early, so
- 5:31something to get the hockey fans excited as we head into this
- 5:35uncharted territory with this football program. 100% but let's
- 5:40go into some charted territory now.
- 5:43Again, like I said, Hokies, head down to Florida State.
- 5:46Let's get to know the enemy with Jesse from plant to spirit.
- 5:49Jesse, if I butchered your last name, I'm sorry, man.
- 5:52It happens. It's fine man.
- 5:54I answer to whatever, so it it, it don't matter.
- 5:56I'm used to it by now. Hey idiot, moron, whatever.
- 6:00I'll answer to just about anything.
- 6:01It's all good. Kurt Curtis has such a layup
- 6:03name he he screws up everybody else's.
- 6:07It's most common names in literally the world.
- 6:09What am I supposed to do? It's funny, like at this point I
- 6:12just roll with it. Like if you call, if you say
- 6:14whatever, I'm like, yeah, OK. Yeah.
- 6:15No, you're, you're you're you're close.
- 6:17I'll just go with Jesse from here on out.
- 6:19But that works. Jesse, first of all, before we
- 6:22get deep into it, give us a little background about
- 6:26yourself, you know, how you came to, you know, having Plant the
- 6:30spear and your history of Florida State football.
- 6:33Yeah, man, so actually like I've been a Florida State fan my
- 6:36whole life and I am a firm believer in one team, no second
- 6:39favorites, no, nothing like that.
- 6:41It's all it's all one team. So I believe Garnet and gold.
- 6:44It's been an up and down fandom for sure.
- 6:46Obviously I started, you know, I I do remember the 90s.
- 6:50I'm 37. So I didn't, I did, wasn't
- 6:52really lucky enough to kind of really come up through the
- 6:55Bowden dynasty. I was kind of there late towards
- 6:58the end of it. Of course, I remember the, you
- 6:59know, the 99 championship, sorry to mention that one.
- 7:02But then also 2013, I was able to be in California for that.
- 7:06That was pretty cool. I actually started when I was
- 7:09about 10-12 years old. My brother would go to baseball
- 7:11camp at Florida, Florida State, Mike Martin baseball camp.
- 7:14And I was old enough to go. Yeah.
- 7:16And so like he was there with Mike Martin and I was not old
- 7:19enough. So my dad would take me around,
- 7:20we'd go look at the stadium and things like that.
- 7:22And so I've been hooked ever since I was a kid and then
- 7:25around 2021 kicked around podcasting for years and just
- 7:29never was really brave enough to do it.
- 7:31Never really was brave enough to show my face on YouTube or
- 7:33anything like that. And so in 2021, I just decided
- 7:38like, you know what, we're just going to go for it started in
- 7:4022, had a great time. We jumped on the train at the
- 7:44right time. We jumped straight into A10 win
- 7:46season and then into a 13 win season.
- 7:48So we were having, we were living a great life.
- 7:51And then the frying pan of two and 10 came and smacked us right
- 7:54in the face. And so that was a little bit
- 7:56rough to talk about. And now we're four and five.
- 7:58So we're going through it. But it's been a fun experience,
- 8:01man. I mean, we've got to cover from
- 8:03the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.
- 8:05We've got to cover a once in a lifetime event with the snub in
- 8:0723, which was not exactly a good thing to cover.
- 8:10But it was a very big week for us on the show.
- 8:12It was very popular at the time. We were just raging and everyone
- 8:15raged with us. But yeah, I mean, overall, man,
- 8:17I love it. It's been, it's grown more than
- 8:20I could even imagine. I was talking to Brian on our
- 8:22show earlier about how it still blows my mind that people will
- 8:25like see you at a game and be like, oh, you're the plant and
- 8:28spear guy. And it like, it still blows my
- 8:30mind, man. And then, you know, obviously
- 8:31getting to do things like this with the the college football
- 8:34community is one of my favorite aspects of this whole thing.
- 8:37So man, I really appreciate you having me on.
- 8:41Yeah, Jesse and you know, you talked about us being on the
- 8:43show together. One of the things we talked
- 8:44about was some some favorite moment moments in this rivalry
- 8:48in this in this matchup series, but.
- 8:52About We might have lost Brian Tally, Did you give them the
- 8:59Alabama Internet? Man, I thought it was mine
- 9:03acting crazy. Now his is acting crazy.
- 9:04Yeah. His is acting crazy so well.
- 9:08So I think he was trying to lead into there that, you know,
- 9:10basically starting with 99 and then now moving into the ACC.
- 9:16Brian, you, you lost everything, man.
- 9:18You frozen. Oh, what's up?
- 9:20We lost everything you said. You froze.
- 9:22That's fun. That's fun.
- 9:23So you have to repeat what you just said.
- 9:25Yeah, I was just going to say, you know, I, I was we, we were
- 9:27talking on our on your show, just a just a few moments where
- 9:31we jumped on here. You know, some of the history of
- 9:34this match up, some of the history of, of Florida State,
- 9:37Virginia Tech. Obviously, you already mentioned
- 9:39the 99 national championship game or any moments in this
- 9:43these this series that have kind of stood out to you that you
- 9:47want to talk about a little bit before we get everything else
- 9:49going here? Yeah, man, it's been a, it's
- 9:52been a range of emotions in this one too, right?
- 9:53So I do remember 99, obviously that was a big one for us.
- 9:58That was kind of the first national championship that I
- 10:01remember. I was five years old for the
- 10:03first one. So in 93.
- 10:04So that was the first one that I really remember. 2005 actually
- 10:08the ACC championship game in Jacksonville, FL was my very
- 10:12first FSU game in person. So like I remember, I believe
- 10:16that was Marcus Vick in that one or something like that.
- 10:17And so that was, that was actually my first FSU
- 10:21experience. So I that's, you know, this was
- 10:23the first team I ever saw FSU play against.
- 10:26Then, you know, the not so fun one.
- 10:27I was, I was there looking like an idiot swag surfing in 2018 in
- 10:32the blackout, having a great time.
- 10:34And then like I told Brian, I was like, man, it was one of the
- 10:37funnest environments I had ever been in until we kicked off and
- 10:41then it was all downhill from there.
- 10:43So yeah, a lot of a lot of memories from Florida State,
- 10:46Virginia Tech over the years. I love when these two brands get
- 10:49together and play. I will say that I have yet to
- 10:53beat AI have yet. I've been to Blacksburg.
- 10:55I've actually been outside of Lane Stadium, but I've never
- 10:58been for a game. I was just passing through and I
- 11:00was like, I got to stop and see it.
- 11:02It's one of my bucket list items, right?
- 11:04I really, really, really want to go to a game in Lane Stadium.
- 11:07I'm really disappointed because this game was supposed to be in
- 11:11Blacksburg and then when they expanded and and shuffled the
- 11:14board, it ended up getting moved to Tallahassee.
- 11:17But at the end of the day, man, I think when you talk about
- 11:19these two, these are two of the most I, I think iconic brands in
- 11:22the ACC. When you talk about a, a fan
- 11:24base stadium, the atmosphere and I just don't think they play
- 11:28enough, right? Two times in Blacksburg since
- 11:30like the 90s and, and only four times I think, since you guys
- 11:33joined the ACC is, is criminal, right?
- 11:36These are two brands that should be playing, especially now that
- 11:38we don't have divisions, we should be playing almost every
- 11:40single year. Yeah, and slowly but surely that
- 11:43is going to start happening more and more where you're going to
- 11:45see a team every roughly about every three to four years.
- 11:48The next one is going to be in 2028.
- 11:52Well, hell, if the conference is still together in 2028, in 2028,
- 11:57it's supposed to be in Blacksburg.
- 11:59But I think going through the 9 game schedule, that's going to
- 12:01help it out. And you know, like, like you
- 12:04said, there there is, there is a, there is the, the sense of
- 12:08rivalry there because starting in 99 and then 05805 still
- 12:13pisses me off to this day because we were a fucking better
- 12:15team. And y'all know, everybody knew
- 12:16it on the field. We just played stupid the whole
- 12:20game. I was literally my fraternity
- 12:22had a huge party that night. I didn't show up because we were
- 12:25in the the neighbors behind us. It was like a bunch of us tech
- 12:28fans just packed in watching. So when everything happened,
- 12:32let's just say a lot of bourbon was drank that night.
- 12:35Yeah, yeah, it happened that night.
- 12:37But Monk, that crowd. But let's get into this season
- 12:41and this team and these teams and specifically about Florida
- 12:46State because obviously we got our team.
- 12:48We know our team. Brian's giving you some
- 12:50background on them. But let's just talk, you know,
- 12:53four and five, not the record that you won't.
- 12:56But what is, as I was looking at the data, it doesn't point to
- 13:02four and five South. What's been the one thing for
- 13:07you as a defence? Is it off?
- 13:08Is it Thomas Castellanos? Because Thomas Castellanos never
- 13:11won a game against Virginia Tech?
- 13:12He's trying to break a streak right here on Saturday night
- 13:15because he somehow he's one of the only quarterbacks in the
- 13:18league that hadn't beat us. But what, what, what?
- 13:21What's the frustration on your part thus far?
- 13:24You know, it's it's really kind of shifted as the season
- 13:27progressed, right? I mean, obviously you come out
- 13:30game one and you can't ask for a better game.
- 13:33Like I still, I still wake up at night sometimes and just sit up
- 13:36in my sleep and go how in the heck did we beat Al freaking
- 13:39Bama not. Only beat y'all smoked them.
- 13:42It was not just we beat them by a Oh my God it's a miracle y'all
- 13:47dominated that game. Beginning Italic called that
- 13:50tally. I think you called that right
- 13:52out the gate. Like Forest State's going to
- 13:53beat Alabama. Like he's like.
- 13:56It it was wow, man, I, I never expected that, right?
- 13:59And we were there, we stormed the field and all that And, and
- 14:02you know, like I told Brian, I was like, we're standing down
- 14:04there on the field and we're just like, are we going to the
- 14:07playoffs? And then little do you know,
- 14:10we're now four and five. We just basically lost every
- 14:12game against a powerful opponent since then.
- 14:15But you know, you start off with that and, and I think the, you
- 14:18know, it's almost a curse, right when you beat Alabama like that
- 14:21because you, you change the expectations coming into the
- 14:25season, the answer, the goal was always 7 and 5 to 8 and 4 based
- 14:29on what happened last year, 2 and 10, the disaster that we
- 14:32were. Now I have a little bit
- 14:33different feeling about that type of expectation because I
- 14:37always look back to, well, 2 and 10 should have never happened.
- 14:39So yes, it's an improvement, but it's an improvement that should
- 14:42have never happened because you should have never been 2 and 10
- 14:44at a place like FSU. But that's neither here nor
- 14:46there. So you, you, when you beat
- 14:48Alabama, your expectations change.
- 14:50And I think they should. That's what wins and losses do.
- 14:52And so at that point, I'm thinking we should, if you can
- 14:54beat Alabama like that, I should be able to look at the schedule
- 14:58and find nine wins. And so we should be that type of
- 15:01team. You know, and then you beat a
- 15:02couple of cupcakes and that doesn't really prove anything.
- 15:05And then you go on the road to Virginia.
- 15:06And really early on, it was a defense.
- 15:09The defense was the problem. Like you go up to Virginia, you
- 15:11score 35 I think in regulation and then the end up giving up 46
- 15:16points. So defense was kind of the
- 15:18problem there. Now offense didn't help.
- 15:20Like we've had a really big problem with just shooting
- 15:23ourselves in the foot mistakes this year.
- 15:24Turnovers are crazy. A lot of turnovers, lots of
- 15:28costly penalties, not only just penalties, but penalties at
- 15:31crucial moments that either extend drives or kill drives and
- 15:35just really, really hurt the team.
- 15:36And so the defense was the problem early on.
- 15:38You know, then you have you have the pit game, right?
- 15:41Pitt comes in here with a a freshman quarterback making a
- 15:44second ever start, first ever start on the road and puts up 34
- 15:47points on you in dope. That should never happen.
- 15:50So there's your defense being the problem, right?
- 15:53And then you go past that, the Miami game happens.
- 15:56You know, Miami was like, if you look at the box score, Miami
- 15:59looks a little bit closer than what it actually was being like
- 16:022822. That game was 28 to 3 late in
- 16:05the third quarter. That was actually the point
- 16:07where I first tweeted like, it's time to fire Mike.
- 16:10I I think this is over and this is done with.
- 16:12And I caught a lot of Flack for that because it was a little bit
- 16:14early. Then Pit happened, then Stanford
- 16:17happened and and then everyone, now everyone's ready to fire
- 16:19him. But you know, the Miami game,
- 16:21you just weren't really competitive in that Pitt was
- 16:25unfortunate, but Pitt turned out to be pretty good, right?
- 16:27And and the Stanford game is the one that you just can't get
- 16:31past, right? That's got to be his second
- 16:34worst loss at Florida State next to Jacksonville State in 2021.
- 16:38So which he's given us a lot of great moments.
- 16:40You know, the first loss to FCS program in school history, the
- 16:43first loss to Duke in program history, 4 losing seasons in
- 16:46five years or at least to be determined or six years.
- 16:49But then you lose that Stanford game and and then it has shifted
- 16:52to the offense, right? The offense only puts up 13
- 16:55points at Stanford. That is just, I don't know how
- 16:59you explain that, right? And so then you come back
- 17:02against Wake Forest, you have if you're coming off a bye week, I
- 17:05don't know what happened. I don't know if they just
- 17:07remembered all of a sudden that they do play, actually do play
- 17:10football. They beat Wake 42 to 7.
- 17:11And I know it's Wake Forest, but that's a pretty OK Wake Forest
- 17:15team this year. And then when you're looking for
- 17:17consistency, you go up to Clemson, a bad Clemson team,
- 17:20three and five at the time, and you get beat 24 to 10.
- 17:22You were never blown out in the game, but once they went up 18
- 17:26to nothing, you would never got back within one score.
- 17:29You actually I think out gained them in that game.
- 17:30But it's just it was another tale of mistakes.
- 17:32It was this was one of the worst games that we saw, right?
- 17:35I mean, you out gained them, but you had costly penalties.
- 17:39Again, you had a lot of overthrows.
- 17:41You had a wide open, like Mike loves to gamble on some 4th
- 17:44downs, like it does not matter where we're at on the field, he
- 17:47will go for it on 4th down. And so you gamble on 1/4 down on
- 17:50your side of the field wide open and the guy just brick hands it.
- 17:54And so it's just been one of those things where like I want
- 17:58to blame Mike for a lot of this stuff and I do.
- 18:01But at the same time, there's a lot of plays that are there to
- 18:04be made and they're just not making them.
- 18:06So Long story short, early part of the season the defense was
- 18:10the problem. Kind of the later part of the
- 18:12season, the offense has been inconsistent, but throughout the
- 18:15whole thing we're just missed. Tackles, penalties, turnovers,
- 18:19little things like that are how you look great on the stat sheet
- 18:23but also lose games. Sheldon, go ahead.
- 18:27Yeah, so Jesse, I kind of want to like bounce some some ideas
- 18:31off you just that was a that was a good, you know, long winded
- 18:33rant about FSU. So we talked about last year,
- 18:37you know, 2 and 10 just completely imploded.
- 18:38They brought in a bunch of new transfers didn't work out
- 18:40obviously. Then this year obviously FSU
- 18:42started out good. But again, they they've lost a
- 18:44couple close games. It seemed like kind of
- 18:46snowballed. My thing is, you know, we've
- 18:48seen as hokey fans, like when you bring in a bunch of new
- 18:51transfers, it seems like often times when you hit, when you hit
- 18:54a wall and you hit some adversity, it's it's not always
- 18:57a guarantee that they respond to well because these are guys that
- 18:59maybe don't know each other well.
- 19:00There's not a lot of chemistry or continuity.
- 19:01And certainly we we experience that as hokey fans.
- 19:03When, you know, Tech lost to Vanderbilt, they just completely
- 19:06quit on the coaching staff and got blown up by ODU and just
- 19:09tumbled into a mess. When I look at FSU as an
- 19:12outsider, I feel like they do not have a really good ability
- 19:16to respond to adversity, particularly this past couple of
- 19:18years under Norvel. Do you think that's a fair
- 19:20criticism of this coaching staff?
- 19:23Yeah, I do. I think in 2023 was when you
- 19:26actually saw them do that well, right.
- 19:28They responded to adversity at certain times, but a lot of that
- 19:3223 team was player LED. That's when you had Jared Verse,
- 19:36you had Jordan Travis, you had, you know, a lot of the guys,
- 19:39Keon Coleman, you had a lot of the guys who were the leaders.
- 19:42And then in 2024, we heard a lot about the coaches had to push
- 19:47the leadership. They had to force guys to become
- 19:49leaders. So the leadership was never
- 19:51there in 24 and now in 25, you've seen guys like Tommy step
- 19:56up and and be a leader early on in the season, but we don't
- 20:00really have the same level of leadership that we had in 2023.
- 20:04And and actually, it's kind of a funny thing that you bring this
- 20:07up because they're, you know, Mike Norvell loves to use the
- 20:09word respond like we are so beyond.
- 20:12I'm tired of climbing, I'm tired of responding.
- 20:13I'm tired of all this stuff. Like he says that after every
- 20:15like we're going to respond and it's like.
- 20:17Buddy, we've been responding for like 8 weeks now.
- 20:20What are we doing? Like we're, we're apparently
- 20:21we're not responsive. And so there was actually
- 20:24something that was leaked out of the locker room where one of the
- 20:27players was joking about him saying respond like this is all
- 20:29we say. And so there was a question for
- 20:34after the Stanford loss that maybe he had lost the locker
- 20:38room and maybe the maybe the players were it was the message
- 20:41was falling on deaf ears. But then you see that after
- 20:44wake, they come out and a lot of the players, four or five
- 20:46players come out and say, like, we've heard everything that
- 20:48everybody's saying about Mike Norvell in the locker room.
- 20:50And that's not true. We're playing for our coach.
- 20:53So I don't think they have quit on this season, but there has
- 20:57been a few games where they have been flat it it looks like they
- 21:02know there's nothing left to play for, but they're still
- 21:04playing somewhat hard. And I say that because in 24 I
- 21:08saw quit like I saw straight up loafing on the field guys just
- 21:13like coaches, they're getting into it on the sideline.
- 21:16You could tell there was they were not bought in at all last
- 21:19year. So I think it has gotten better
- 21:21this year. But you know, to your point, I
- 21:23think with the transfers, one of the problems that we've seen
- 21:26here under Mike Norvell when when people talk about the wins
- 21:28and losses, yes, that is the glaring issue.
- 21:31But there's a lot of other things like recruiting like he
- 21:33is not been great at recruiting at a school where it's pretty
- 21:37hard to be bad at recruiting right in the state of Florida.
- 21:40And he has not landed the top ten class yet.
- 21:43Like he and we just lost our recruit last week.
- 21:45So he's had a problem with that. So what that leads him to do is
- 21:48go dip in the portal every single year.
- 21:50And so the problem is it feels like he's putting together
- 21:55A-Team every year versus building a program that's going
- 21:59to be stable for the long run. Like I understand the portal is
- 22:03still part of college football and it is still important.
- 22:06But when you look at teams like Alabama, like Georgia, like Ohio
- 22:09State, the teams we want to be, they are built primarily through
- 22:13high school recruiting consistently year over year and
- 22:15developing those recruits. There is a lot of there is a lot
- 22:18of mercenary to the portal, right?
- 22:20There's a lot of mercenary factor in that.
- 22:22And so you have those guys that come in, they get paid and you
- 22:25know, that's that's all they really care about.
- 22:27They just want the money. And so, yeah, I think the
- 22:29portal, the over usage of portal, you know, when you bring
- 22:33in, out of 22 starters, you bring in 16 new starters almost
- 22:36every single year. It's almost impossible to build
- 22:39continuity through that. The only, the only thing I will
- 22:43say to, to where we're at right now is a lot of the problems we
- 22:46saw in recruiting and development was under the old
- 22:48staff. Mike Novell is the one constant
- 22:50though. And frankly, if you know, to put
- 22:52it like it is, if you're going to have a $10 million CEO head
- 22:54coach, the least he should be able to do is recruit.
- 22:57And Mike Novell cannot. And so that is why we're so
- 22:59frustrated with him. But I do think the the
- 23:01leadership, the cohesion and the development that you've seen
- 23:04under the new staff with Gus Malzahn and Tony White and those
- 23:07guys has been better. Like we are actually seeing
- 23:10freshmen hit the field and be impact players now.
- 23:13Whereas before, one of our biggest things with Mike Novella
- 23:16is why are you bringing talented kids here to sit for three
- 23:19years, then bring in a transfer who you don't know if they're
- 23:22going to be good or not? Like play the recruits, man.
- 23:24You got to play the recruits because that's a culture killer.
- 23:26And so, yeah, I, I think the culture is he flipped it after
- 23:31last year and it's holding together.
- 23:32But you know, the, as the losses pile up, man, it's going to be
- 23:35hard to hold. It's going to be hard to keep
- 23:36them motivated. But it yeah, I mean, when you
- 23:38throw together A-Team every year versus build a sustainable
- 23:40program, that's just going to be part of the problem.
- 23:44Yeah, novel to me, kind of novel to me kind of mimics a a
- 23:49basketball coach maybe like like Calipari when he was at
- 23:53Kentucky. You know, you build this great
- 23:55team for a tournament run or for a championship, but then they
- 23:59all GoPro to next year. That's kind of what it feels
- 24:02like Norvell is. And then you go through, you
- 24:06know, a bad year and then you maybe have a decent year.
- 24:08You just can't do that at A at a program like Florida State, you
- 24:13know, with so much prestige and history and culture that they
- 24:17have, like you said, like it would be hard to be a bad
- 24:22recruiter there, but he's kind of proven that that's what he
- 24:25is. So Long story short that that we
- 24:29went all around the world for me to just say, y'all are probably
- 24:32going to be getting a new coach soon.
- 24:34Who do you think that coach is going to be?
- 24:36A lot of people have been, if you already see in the chat and,
- 24:39and, and on the Internet, a lot of people have been talking
- 24:41about James Franklin. Do you think a coach like James
- 24:44Franklin comes in and upgrades y'all or is it somebody else
- 24:49that you're more looking at? So I think he could.
- 24:52Now. I will say what concerns me the
- 24:54most over the last week is 1, there is a lot of smoke around
- 24:59them. Trying to figure out whether
- 25:00Tommy can come back next year. And the situation around that is
- 25:04when he was a freshman at UCF, he played in five games.
- 25:07One of those games was the AAC championship and the year after
- 25:11that, they changed the ruling to where the the championship game
- 25:15would not affect your red shirt, right.
- 25:16And so they're trying to appeal to basically be like, he only
- 25:19played in four games. That counts as red shirt year.
- 25:21Well, if you read the tea leaves, if they bring Tommy
- 25:23back, that probably means they're bringing Gus back too,
- 25:26which probably means they're bringing Mike back.
- 25:27So that's the that's the situation.
- 25:29We don't want to happen, right. And he also had a press
- 25:31conference this week where he talked like a guy who thought he
- 25:34was coming back next year. We, we won championships and
- 25:37we're going to win, you know, more here and everything.
- 25:39And so that does concern me that we might actually bring him back
- 25:43for another year. But if we do make the move and
- 25:45if we do fire him and I, I think a lot of that does kind of
- 25:48depend on the rest of the season, although to me, I don't,
- 25:51I think the decision should be made.
- 25:52We have enough evidence. James Franklin was actually my
- 25:56number one choice at first, right?
- 25:58Because I think right now the problem with Mike Norvell has
- 26:01always been consistency, right? It's never been like 08 wins,
- 26:05then 10, then seven, then 12. It's it's either like we went
- 26:09three to five to 10 to 13 to 2 down to now 4, probably 5-6 at
- 26:15the at the top right. And so it's never been
- 26:17consistent. And so for me, when you fire
- 26:21Mike Norvell, you now have to pay basically a head coach's
- 26:24salary for the next 5 to 6 years, depending on when you do
- 26:27it. And so I don't know that Florida
- 26:30State can afford to screw this next higher up because if they
- 26:33do, they probably can't afford to fire that guy for five to six
- 26:36more years. And so I think you need a guy
- 26:39who's almost a can't miss. And really James Franklin feels
- 26:43like the guy out there right now who is actually obtainable, who
- 26:47is kind of a can't miss guy. And I know there's a lot of the
- 26:50thing with, you know, the four and 21 against top ten teams and
- 26:53things like that. But you know, when you're
- 26:54playing in the ACCI think he can come in to a place like Florida
- 26:58State. He's not an elite recruiter, but
- 27:01he's really good, right? He's our averages 13 to 15 or
- 27:05something like that. But he's also, I think in his
- 27:07time at Penn State, he's put 56 kids in the NFL so he can
- 27:10develop. He's also shown to to make good
- 27:13hires from his support staff. And so I think he could be a guy
- 27:17that could stabilize a program like Florida State, right?
- 27:20He could get you 10 wins year in and year out and in the ACC that
- 27:24means a playoff berth every now and then.
- 27:25So I think he would be a great option for Florida State.
- 27:29Now with that being said, hold on, let.
- 27:31Me ask a quick question. Let me ask a quick.
- 27:33Question. Yeah, go.
- 27:34Ahead, does it concern you this recruiting footprint?
- 27:37It is Mid-Atlantic, it is not, it is not Florida, it is not
- 27:40Georgia, it's not Alabama. It's I don't even think it's I
- 27:43don't even think he's got to play out of South Carolina.
- 27:46Does that concern you? Can you walk from there?
- 27:49And OK, go ahead. It does because when you look at
- 27:54when we brought in Mike Norvell, the first thing was he didn't
- 27:56have ties to the state of Florida.
- 27:58And then he also took over the COVID year.
- 28:00So he couldn't build those ties in the state of Florida.
- 28:03The difference, I think, between him and James Franklin is the
- 28:06fact that Franklin's name carries cachet, right?
- 28:09And Mike Norvell's at the time really didn't.
- 28:12I think people, everybody knows who James Franklin is.
- 28:15And if you put, you know, the Florida State logo on his chest
- 28:17and you send him into some of the schools in South Florida, I
- 28:19think he would be OK. But the recruiting really is
- 28:22kind of the one thing that makes me step back on James Franklin
- 28:26because right now the biggest problem we have is recruiting.
- 28:29Now there's a whole another conversation about that where
- 28:32people try and blame NIL, people try and blame talent.
- 28:34And I'm like, guys, we spend more and we have more talent
- 28:37than Stanford. I mean, we add more to
- 28:39Jacksonville State. We add more than Pitt, all these
- 28:41other teams that we're losing to, you were right.
- 28:43Like you're beating Alabama. It's not NIL and talent, right?
- 28:46So there is a disconnect there. But that's why I also look at
- 28:50somebody like Brian Hartline at Ohio State.
- 28:54Maybe you take a little bit more of a chance on a guy like that.
- 28:57Who? Has a recruiting prowess second
- 28:59to none. Like he came down and he and he
- 29:01pulled Jeremiah Smith out of Florida, right?
- 29:03I would have loved to have that guy keep that kid in Florida.
- 29:07And so you take a chance on that because he doesn't have any
- 29:10coaching experience. Maybe you got Glenn Schumann
- 29:12there, ADC at George's, a guy, a name I like, Will Stein, they're
- 29:16up at at Oregon, the OC there. And so I think those guys are
- 29:21ones you could look at because you know, you look at Kirby
- 29:24Smart, you look at Dan Lanning, you look at even Ryan Day.
- 29:27These are guys that came straight from the coordinator
- 29:29level and they're having a ton of success.
- 29:30So I don't know that prior head coach experience is even really
- 29:33necessary. But what I think that the
- 29:35problem for Florida State is if you fire Mike Norvell, I don't
- 29:38know that you can go and outbid a Florida team or whatever for
- 29:42like a Lane Kiffin at 13 and a half, $1,000,000 a year or
- 29:45whatever that the case is going to be.
- 29:47I think you need to find somebody probably somewhere in
- 29:51the 8 tops of $10 million range. And who can you get for that?
- 29:56You know, there's also the other, the hot button name of
- 29:58Jimbo Fisher, right? If you could retread that at
- 30:00Florida State. I don't love that idea.
- 30:03But he can recruit. That would be a story if y'all
- 30:08went back to Jimbo. And The thing is with Jimbo, I
- 30:11think the allure is he can recruit right.
- 30:12Even in 2022 at Texas A&M, he didn't have time for that class
- 30:16to flesh out because he got fired after 23.
- 30:18But it was like the number one recruiting class in the history
- 30:21of all recruiting classes. Like he could, I think he could
- 30:23come into Florida State and he could get enough talent on the
- 30:26roster to win in the ACC. And even during his bad years,
- 30:30like we were still winning 10 games and making the Orange
- 30:32Bowl. So I, I think you want to make a
- 30:35splash because you know, when you talk about gaining NIL
- 30:38dollars and donations, we're not going to love like an Alex Golis
- 30:42from USF, another G5 coach or something like that.
- 30:44I mean, he may be good, but it's probably not going to move the
- 30:47needle. So I think it's James Franklin
- 30:49is like the biggest fish in the pond that our bait can catch
- 30:53right now. There's going to be competition
- 30:54for that, but we're probably not going to go get a a sitting $10
- 30:59million head coach. It's just probably not gonna
- 31:01happen. So I think it's James Franklin
- 31:03or you take a chance on the coordinator or you look at maybe
- 31:08one of the better proven G5 coaches, like the guy from JMU,
- 31:11the guy from Tulane or something like that.
- 31:14Those guys are probably already spoken for other places.
- 31:16But yeah, I think that's probably the route you're going
- 31:18to go. Or you hang on to Mike Norvell
- 31:19for one more year. We have a tough schedule next
- 31:22year. You hope because you don't know,
- 31:24right? You don't know what the coaching
- 31:26carousel is going to look like. Last year everybody says it's a
- 31:27crazy year. This year it might be crazier.
- 31:30Next year, we don't know. And so I think maybe you hold on
- 31:33to him and you try again in 26 and hope things aren't as crazy
- 31:36in the coaching carousel. This year is an alpha, though.
- 31:40When I say this is an alpha project, this year is the first
- 31:44time NIL has truly been in play when it comes to money.
- 31:48Because you've already mentioned to us, Norvell's roughly going
- 31:52to be 8 and a half million if you're paying him a new coach
- 31:5711, there's $20 million gone right there.
- 32:00And you've already said about buying out coaches if you don't
- 32:05have the NIL pool, you, you're kind of in that situation where
- 32:09it's like Florida outbid us, fuck LSU outbid us, Tennessee
- 32:12just outbid us. How are we going to do this?
- 32:15But I loved your takes on everything there.
- 32:19But I want to hit a couple more pieces about the game before we,
- 32:22we we let you go. But thanks for the insight where
- 32:25you're coming from as an FSU fan.
- 32:27I will, I will. I will say one quick thing to
- 32:29that, there is the thought process with some people that
- 32:33maybe we just save the money and help Norville get better players
- 32:37because we've seen what he did in 23 when he had good players,
- 32:41right? Like if you give him a $30
- 32:42million nil budget, could he go produce those kind of results
- 32:46again? And I certainly think that's in
- 32:48the conversation. I think the problem is how do
- 32:51you get to that number when a lot of the fan funding is going
- 32:56to wane because people are going to be like, I don't trust him to
- 32:58give him money to go buy players.
- 32:59Because again, like you chose to pay DJ you $900,000.
- 33:04You chose to pay Tommy C $800,000.
- 33:07You're spending more money than a lot of the teams you're losing
- 33:10to. How, how can I justify opening
- 33:13up the checkbook for this guy? And so, yeah, you're right.
- 33:16I think you could put money into the roster and probably see
- 33:19better results. But you should be seeing better
- 33:21results based on we have a top 15 NIO budget and we're, you
- 33:25know, probably the 60th ranked team in the country.
- 33:28Yeah, 4:00 and 5:00 is y'all's current record and and I'm just
- 33:32looking here trying to go to Saturday.
- 33:33First of all, should the line? Was it 13 1/2 last time I
- 33:37checked? 13 1/2, yeah.
- 33:39It is still. Absolutely.
- 33:39Generous. That is a massive line.
- 33:42I think they're looking at the differential in talents there
- 33:46and again, a three and six versus A4 and five in at home.
- 33:49But as I look it up and down your roster, you guys run the
- 33:52little crap out of the ball. Give me some info on Saw Chuck
- 33:57and Chroma because it looks like other than Tommy but I know we
- 34:00know Tommy scrambles and runs a lot.
- 34:03What do they bring to the table? Yeah, so obviously a Gus Mile's
- 34:07on offense, the staple is the run game, right?
- 34:09We run the ball a lot and you know when you look at this rush
- 34:13offense, we're 13th in rush attempts per game.
- 34:16We run about 40 * a game. When you talk about the the
- 34:20running back stable that we got, Gavin Sawchuk is the guy that
- 34:22came in from Oklahoma transfer. He was actually pretty good out
- 34:26of Oklahoma. He just never really got a
- 34:29chance to be the lead back. He got injured after he got a
- 34:31start, got the starter status out there.
- 34:34He was pretty good out there. He's not been real great for us.
- 34:37The other guy, Chroma, is a freshman man.
- 34:40He is going to be special. My biggest concern with him is
- 34:43can we keep him on the roster, right?
- 34:45We flipped him from Georgia on signing day.
- 34:47That was a really, really big get, one of the biggest flips we
- 34:50had in the entire class. And I mean, he looks like a
- 34:53senior as a freshman now. He's still coming into his own,
- 34:56right? He's still got some things he's
- 34:57got to get better at. We also did see a name that
- 35:00you're probably not going to see on the stat sheet with Sam
- 35:02Singleton. He is a guy that played against
- 35:04Wake Forest and he I think had 91 yards rushing lead in that
- 35:09game. So we have about 5 or 6 backs
- 35:11that we will use. But your your top three.
- 35:14They're hoping to have Cam Davis back again.
- 35:16Former five star running back that's been out with injury.
- 35:18He's supposed to be back for this game.
- 35:20So you got about four or five guys.
- 35:22I wouldn't say that any of them right now are like when when I
- 35:27talk about like a Florida State running back, like a Dalvin
- 35:29Cook, right? I don't think you have one of
- 35:31those on the roster. Chroma could be someday, but you
- 35:34have a you don't really have anybody that don't like either
- 35:36other than I could, I could really not see Roy Doe Williams
- 35:39carry the ball for the rest of the season.
- 35:40I'd be OK with that. The Alabama transfer.
- 35:43But then Tommy running the ball, man, he's been banged up.
- 35:46He has been dealing with an ankle injury since the pit game.
- 35:49It was literally the very first play of that game.
- 35:52And he's not ran the ball as effectively as we would have
- 35:55liked him to, right. He and I'll give it to Tommy.
- 35:58He puts his body on the line. Yeah, he got like cartwheeled
- 36:01against Stanford. I think he got literally knocked
- 36:04out against Stanford on a dirty hit.
- 36:06I mean, he's putting himself out there, but the running has not
- 36:09been the same as it has been early in the season.
- 36:12So that's not great when you're considering that's a lot of what
- 36:15makes his game special. But Florida State's going to try
- 36:18and run the ball, man. I mean, they they are definitely
- 36:20going to try and run the ball 1st.
- 36:22And The thing is, when you talk about the like the rush stats, I
- 36:25will say with any stat you look at with Florida State, the games
- 36:29against Kent State and East Texas A&M do kind of cloud the
- 36:32water a little bit, right? They muddy the water a little
- 36:34bit because we just ran, I think we put like 4 or 500 yards
- 36:37rushing against Kent State or East Texas A&M, whichever one it
- 36:40was. So it does skew the stats a
- 36:41little bit. Like we ran for over 200 yards
- 36:44in the first four games. We have not run for 200 yards
- 36:47since in the last four games. So the rush game has slowed down
- 36:50a little bit, but it's still effective.
- 36:52And it needs to be because if you talk about the pass offense,
- 36:55you know, The funny thing is the more Tommy throws the ball, the
- 36:59worse we are, which makes little to no sense, right?
- 37:02And you know, I was telling Brian earlier on our show when
- 37:04you talk about the passing offense, like if you want the
- 37:07stat of the game, like this will literally decide the game.
- 37:11So in our four wins, we're four and five.
- 37:13As everybody knows, in our four wins, Tommy averages 13 1/2
- 37:16attempts per game with 0 games over 20 attempts passing
- 37:20attempts. In all 5 losses, he's thrown the
- 37:22ball more than 20 times and averages 34.2 attempts per game.
- 37:26I think we threw it 40 plus times against Clemson.
- 37:28So if the run game works enough to allow Tommy to throw the ball
- 37:33about 18 times for around 100 and 7080 yards, that's what you
- 37:38really want, right? But if he's throwing it 40 times
- 37:41for 200 and 52160 yards, chances are we're going to lose.
- 37:46Yeah, we we were. Having that conversation.
- 37:48Yeah, we were having that conversation and we were both, I
- 37:50mean, when you look at Virginia Tech, it's a very similar
- 37:52situation. You know when when Jesse asks me
- 37:55what's, you know, Virginia Tech can win this game.
- 37:57If I said if if we have it, you know, somewhere around 40
- 38:00carries, we're at least going to be pretty close to this game.
- 38:06Every time we've seen Kyron get above that 25 number in
- 38:10attempts, it's the offensive efficiency plummets.
- 38:16Yeah, when he's right around that 2022, that means that he's
- 38:22been running the ball more. Number one.
- 38:24He's been effective with with his hand off.
- 38:26So we've been able to get some some yardage on the ground and
- 38:29he's been able to be judicious with the attempts.
- 38:35And when we do that, we're a whole lot better offense.
- 38:37And so I think there's a lot of similarities when you look at
- 38:41some of the struggles that Florida State has had and some
- 38:44of the struggles Virginia Tech has had, especially on the
- 38:46offensive side where we haven't seen quite as much attrition due
- 38:50to a mid season firing like we have on the defensive side.
- 38:54Yeah, and I will say for our offense, the offensive line is
- 38:57experienced. They're all red shirt seniors,
- 38:59they're all big. They're not great, but they're
- 39:02pretty darn effective. And then in our pass game, like
- 39:06just get ready for a deep shot to deuce Robinson and and
- 39:09probably Makai Danzy because that seems like about all we do.
- 39:12I don't I honestly don't know that we have a mid level pass
- 39:16game. I haven't really seen it very
- 39:17much and usually when we do, we drop it anyway.
- 39:20But man, I mean because like when you look at our offense,
- 39:22we're 6IN yards per attempt and we're 97th in attempts per game.
- 39:27So that pretty much kind of tells you where we're at.
- 39:28Like we like to throw the ball deep and it's going to be Deuce
- 39:31Robinson more often than not. The guy is 6 foot six.
- 39:34He can run, he can catch, he's got great body control.
- 39:37He's probably played himself into I think a first, first or
- 39:40second round draft pick. So unfortunately we probably
- 39:42won't have him after this year. He's had 400 yard games this
- 39:46season. He's I think over 800 so far on
- 39:49the year. So man, I mean, he's a really
- 39:50talented receiver. McKay Danzy's a young guy, a
- 39:53freshman, a track guy who's got insane speed.
- 39:56You're probably going to see a reverse to him.
- 39:58We ran it and I think the first six games before Gus finally
- 40:01figured out that everybody else knew we were going to run it
- 40:03too. And then of course, you have
- 40:05Squirrel White, who has been in absolute bust so far this
- 40:07season. Part of that's on the
- 40:09quarterback, part of that's on him.
- 40:10I had a lot of high hopes for that guy.
- 40:13I think he has like 5 catches for 50 something yards and one
- 40:15was a 40 yard catch against Bama.
- 40:16So Douche Robinson is the one that you really need to know
- 40:19about in the past game. But you know man, we got some
- 40:21weapons. It's just last game was
- 40:24overthrow here, drop past there. And so it's a lot of things of
- 40:27you have potential, but can you not shoot yourself in the foot?
- 40:31Tally, We got another six, six, 220 LB wide receiver to deal
- 40:36with. Thank the Lord, right?
- 40:41Yes, yes, that's what we want to, that's what we want to play
- 40:47this. Is like the, I think the third
- 40:49or fourth wide receiver that somewhere north of 6/5 and and
- 40:53at least 215. That's tough, man.
- 40:56That's tough. I mean, we had for a.
- 40:57Quarterback room that has been decimated by a combination of
- 41:01injuries and opt outs. It has not been pretty and we
- 41:06and we've been struggling. Yeah, I told you when we talked,
- 41:08man, like we've been struggling giving up big plays in the
- 41:11running game, but we've been struggling getting off the field
- 41:14when they're throwing the football and particularly in the
- 41:16red zone. When they throw the football in
- 41:18the red zone, it's going to be a touchdown almost every damn
- 41:20time. It's it's one of those things
- 41:22where we just, we do not match up well and we do not match up
- 41:25well against guys like this that are kind of those red zone
- 41:28nightmares, those stick movers, those guys that can really kind
- 41:30of do a little bit of everything.
- 41:34Yeah, I mean, he's he, he's definitely, he's our our biggest
- 41:38weapon right now. I think when you get compressed
- 41:41into the red zone, sometimes I do worry because the problem
- 41:44there is like, you know, Tommy does have that limitation.
- 41:47He is 5 foot 9, right? And so we've seen a couple times
- 41:49where they try and get the ball vertically, you know, more than
- 41:52horizontally in that compressed field and it's turn into
- 41:54turnovers that killed US against Virginia bat of balls or
- 41:56something that that, you know, if you can't get him outside of
- 41:59the pocket, that that can be an issue too.
- 42:01But I mean, if it wasn't for Deuce, our offense would be in
- 42:04pretty big trouble, right? And he got hurt.
- 42:06We didn't have in the second-half of the pit game.
- 42:07If we if you if we did, I think maybe we do win that game.
- 42:11But man, I mean, right now he's been one of those guys that
- 42:13like, you got to have him on the field because he is the best
- 42:16player on our offense. Let's go to the defensive side
- 42:20of the ball real quick and a name that kind of sticks out and
- 42:23might even stick out the tally some is oh shit I had it right
- 42:28here. Earl little transfer from
- 42:31Alabama was a huge recruit for them back in the day and it
- 42:35looks like he is tearing it up this year.
- 42:37He's got 4 picks lead the team in tackles.
- 42:42First of all where is he playing?
- 42:43Anytime I see 57 tackles on ADB it meets me think is he playing
- 42:48nickel or is he playing safety? But where is he lining up
- 42:51because it seems like he is a bit of a one man wrecking crew
- 42:54on that side of the ball. Yeah.
- 42:56So he lines up at Rover safety. So Tony White runs A335 defense
- 43:01is what he likes to run. Now we've had to switch a lot of
- 43:03that and go to multiple and and run a four man front.
- 43:06We've had to do that a lot. But in the in the base defense,
- 43:10he runs the Rover safety and as you know, that's the middle of
- 43:12three safeties. So he's basically allowed to
- 43:14just kind of be like a little bit of a linebacker, a little
- 43:18bit of a safety hybrid. Actually, the way the defense
- 43:21was founded way back in the day at New Mexico State, I think
- 43:24that position was Brian Urlacher.
- 43:25So it kind of gives you an idea kind of of how that guy is.
- 43:28He's he's a guy who's maybe not quite a great DB, but not, you
- 43:33know, he's a little too undersized to be linebacker.
- 43:35So he kind of has freedom to roam the field.
- 43:37And then I mean, he came out on fire against Alabama, had an
- 43:41amazing game against them. Then he really struggled against
- 43:45Virginia. He had a couple of missed
- 43:47tackles that really one of them, I can't say it cost the game
- 43:50because you can't really put on anyone play, but he did have one
- 43:53that he just tried to shoulder tackle.
- 43:55The guy bounced right off of him and went in for a touchdown and
- 43:58we ended up losing the game. He had another bad tackling
- 44:01effort against Pitt. So like he's a really good
- 44:04player. I mean, he is a really good guy.
- 44:07The problem is, man, it's like he forgets he has arms when he
- 44:09tackles, right. He is a big shoulder tackling
- 44:12guy. And so really missed tackles is
- 44:14the one thing that kind of hurts him more than anything.
- 44:17But I mean, he is one of the leaders of the defense.
- 44:20He is one of the best players on the defense.
- 44:21He's an obviously a great athlete, A rangy guy coming from
- 44:24Alabama, and since they moved him back to safety, he's done a
- 44:27lot better. So as long as he doesn't miss a
- 44:29tackle, he's usually in a good position to be on top of them
- 44:32for one. So he's a really good one.
- 44:34Our best cover corner is probably Jabril rawls #11 and
- 44:38he's got an NFL future. He's a really good corner for
- 44:41us. Other than that, we, you know,
- 44:43we don't really have a ton of of, you know, really big names
- 44:47there like we had in the past. Edwin Joseph is another guy that
- 44:50kind of plays that nickel spot. He's been pretty good too.
- 44:53You know, they all kind of have made some mistakes.
- 44:55Safety is not the really strong point for us outside of a
- 45:00little. I mean, you have some other guys
- 45:02who, one was a veteran that got pushed down the depth chart and
- 45:04kind of came back up. Another was a JUCO guy transfer.
- 45:07So they're pretty good. But man, our secondary for a
- 45:11little part of the season, especially against Pitt, was
- 45:13just an unmitigated disaster in coverage.
- 45:16So the fact that Earl Little can kind of come up and play the run
- 45:19helps his numbers out a lot. But in the past game and it's
- 45:22been our secondary has been pretty sketchy, which has been
- 45:25pretty painful to watch. Like sometimes they just look
- 45:27like they just don't know what they're doing back there.
- 45:30Yeah. And I mean, we don't have we
- 45:31don't really do a whole lot of we haven't stretched the field
- 45:35very well in the past again this this season, to to say the
- 45:39least. Most of that has been kind of
- 45:41schemed off of, you know, our success in the running game and
- 45:44things like that. I did like you tying the the
- 45:47three three stack Rover to the Tampa 2 middle linebacker
- 45:52connection there. They're basically the same
- 45:54position. Yeah, but.
- 45:57Yeah, it's, it's, it's interesting to see like, like I
- 46:00said, I think there's a lot of, you know, there, there's some
- 46:05corresponding elements to some of the struggles we have.
- 46:07I think ours has just been exasperated even even worse by
- 46:12the utter lack of. Pass.
- 46:16Pass rush because of some of the opt outs.
- 46:19Pass rush in general. Passing game in general.
- 46:22Well, passing game in general because our pass rush has
- 46:25struggled as. Well, oh, it's struggled as
- 46:26well. If we had a couple of year guys,
- 46:29we might be sitting six and three right now, but it's been
- 46:33wide receiver wise that that's what the struggle been.
- 46:37Tally anything else before we get ready to close this out with
- 46:40Jesse here tonight. Tally I think froze on the I
- 46:46dagged on Alabama Internet. I swear to God every time.
- 46:50Froze. I'm sorry, I was froze man.
- 46:53What was the question? Anything else for Jesse before
- 46:56we get this thing ready to wrap up?
- 47:00No, just tell him to go talk to Jesse.
- 47:03Go talk to Tommy C and tell him that we don't want the Alabama
- 47:07tummy see. We want the eight other game
- 47:10Tummy See. So do I, I haven't.
- 47:13Seen that in a while. Brian, go ahead, Jesse.
- 47:19I was going to say I, I really think like the hardest part for
- 47:22me when you look at this game and, and picking and things like
- 47:25that is I just don't know who's going to show up, right?
- 47:27We've seen Florida State play good at home.
- 47:29They're four and two at home. They beat Alabama, they beat
- 47:32Wake Forest 42 to 7. You know, they lost to a
- 47:34talented Miami team at home. They lost to a good pit team at
- 47:38home. So who's going to show up for
- 47:39me, that's the thing. And and I like, I actually like
- 47:41the matchups in this game for Florida State, right?
- 47:44When you talk about what, when you say the past game is the
- 47:47kind of the weakness, that makes me feel a lot better because our
- 47:49secondary, our past defense is our weakness.
- 47:51Our linebackers can't cover in space to save their life.
- 47:55Our defensive line is pretty just okay.
- 47:57I wouldn't say it's really special the names to know.
- 48:00Darrell Jackson is the nose tackle there.
- 48:01He's pretty good. The twins, the Desir brothers
- 48:03are two freshmen. They are outstanding.
- 48:06I hope those are two that we don't lose in a transition.
- 48:09So I just don't know who's going to show up.
- 48:10But I like the way it matches up in this one.
- 48:13Man, I'm excited to watch it play out.
- 48:15If we were not at home, I would probably prick Virginia Tech in
- 48:18this one, right? I mean, we haven't won a road
- 48:20game since 2023. We've lost nine straight.
- 48:22So I would definitely pick you guys if we were in Blacksburg.
- 48:25And I do think that spread is a little generous, right?
- 48:27I don't think Vegas knows what to think about us right now.
- 48:31I think they're a little confused.
- 48:32Maybe Mike Novell's betting the spread or something like that.
- 48:36Hopefully our athletic department is so they can, you
- 48:38know, boost up the money for the buyout, put the put the booster
- 48:40donations on the spread. But yeah, I mean, I, I, I think
- 48:44that's a little generous. 13 1/2 is a little much.
- 48:46I think it's going to be a good game.
- 48:50Yeah, I think it's going to be a good game.
- 48:51I think the question is going to be, can we do enough
- 48:55offensively? Because I think you guys are
- 48:58going to get a lot of opportunities on offense.
- 49:00Whether or not you capitalize or not that's that remains to be
- 49:02seen. Curtis, you talked about at the
- 49:05open show, I was like, you know, things might go well if we can
- 49:07run the football and if the history with Tommy Castellanos
- 49:12and Virginia Tech is something that carries forward.
- 49:16I think we picked him off five times in those matchups,
- 49:19something like that. So it's, you know, it's a pretty
- 49:23good history for us on that front.
- 49:24But again, you know, it's a different team.
- 49:27It's at Doke, you know, I thought y'all, y'all have a
- 49:31little bit more to play for than we do at this point.
- 49:32So it's going to be interesting to see how that kind of shakes
- 49:35up. But before we wrap up, Jesse, we
- 49:38really appreciate you jumping on with us tonight.
- 49:40Tell all the folks out there where they can find you and
- 49:44where they can listen to more. Plant the spear.
- 49:47Yeah, man, I appreciate that. So you can find everything that
- 49:50we do on our website at plant thespear.com.
- 49:52We have links to our social media, We have links to YouTube.
- 49:56All of you can watch all our episodes or listen to all our
- 49:58episodes right there on the website.
- 50:00So it's nice and easy. You can of course, always check
- 50:02us out on YouTube, on social media, Facebook, Instagram and
- 50:06Twitter. Twitter's where I'm most active.
- 50:07I still call it Twitter where I'm most active at.
- 50:10And then yeah, man, we have podcast only version and and you
- 50:13know, we're we're the fans, right?
- 50:15So we try to be the fans voice. So if you're a fan, if you're
- 50:17Florida State fan, come hang out with us.
- 50:18We go to the games, we do all that stuff.
- 50:20We don't sit in a press box. We get a little crazy and stuff
- 50:23like that. When we get the opportunity, I'm
- 50:24going to be down there on Saturday, you know, at at this
- 50:27game and I can't wait for it. I'm excited, like I said, every
- 50:29time these two brands get together, I, I just get excited
- 50:32about it, right? It's a, it's a fun game.
- 50:34And like I was telling Brian I was joking earlier, at least
- 50:35it's not like 1 is up and one is down.
- 50:37Like maybe because we're both equally bad, it'll just be a
- 50:40good game. And in a vacuum, we won't even
- 50:42notice that we're bad, right? We'll just think it's too, We'll
- 50:43just pretend it's two good teams and we'll just go with it, man.
- 50:46But I appreciate y'all having me on and I'm looking forward to
- 50:49Saturday. Appreciate it, Jesse.
- 50:53Take care of yourself man. Have a good one.
- 50:54Now have a good one. All right, so I don't want to
- 51:00jump to basketball quite yet because obviously we did some
- 51:04coach talk there. Me and Brian have been.
- 51:07We've laid out where we feel right now.
- 51:09So Sheldon Talley, I just want to get tally.
- 51:19James Franklin's bad for you, hey?
- 51:23Where are y'all at right now? I mean, we are.
- 51:25It's been forever where you're probably, I'm going to say we
- 51:32all think 17 days from actually knowing who the next coach is.
- 51:37If not sooner. If not sooner, sooner would be
- 51:40better. Sooner would be better.
- 51:43Where are y'all feeling just I mean who do you, I mean you
- 51:46know, there's all sorts of board reports and all this crap going
- 51:49around where where are, where's y'all set space at?
- 51:52I don't care who goes first y'all just start talking.
- 51:58You got anything? Yeah, I mean, I've actually kind
- 52:02of zoned out a little bit in the coaching search.
- 52:04I'm not not plugged into the message board as much as because
- 52:06I kind of I kind of got burned out from it.
- 52:08But I mean, it sounds like, you know, obviously James Franklin
- 52:12is, you know, in the lead so far.
- 52:13And I was thinking about this earlier today.
- 52:16I think not only does it make sense from our perspective,
- 52:19obviously hiring a guy like that, but I also feel like from
- 52:21Franklin's perspective, Vt makes the most sense for him.
- 52:25Because if you think about it, I mean, you know, there's going to
- 52:27be a handful of SEC schools that open up for sure.
- 52:30But one, he doesn't fit that recruiting footprint exactly as
- 52:35well as much as as well as he fits us.
- 52:37And two, I generally speaking, SEC teams do not hire fired
- 52:45former powerful coaches. I mean, there been a couple
- 52:48exceptions, obviously, with, you know, Steve Sarkeesian and Lane
- 52:50Kiffin, but that was kind of a unusual situation where they had
- 52:53some personal issues beforehand and then kind of went through
- 52:56like a, you know, a reclamation project after that.
- 52:59It just, it just doesn't happen very often.
- 53:01So I know it's kind of it's different because obviously
- 53:03Franklin's, you know, had such a good track record and like teams
- 53:05are going to come after him. But you go through it like
- 53:08Auburn, it seems like they want some role or you know, maybe
- 53:12someone's going to make a play for Kiffin.
- 53:15You know, Florida, same thing. Florida State, again, we don't
- 53:19know what their financial situation is, so we don't open
- 53:21up. So I think, I think on the
- 53:22whole, like I just think Franklin makes the most sense
- 53:25for Vt from both sides. So he's obviously my number one.
- 53:30You guys know, I'm a big Bob Chesney fan.
- 53:32I think he would be, he'd be the easy #2 we can, you know, split
- 53:36errors on that. But for the most part, I feel I
- 53:38feel pretty good. Like I, I think that's a pretty
- 53:40good 1-2 punch right there. If you if you miss on Franklin,
- 53:42you could settle for a for a really good hiring Chesney.
- 53:46Yeah, that's just I agree, uncle.
- 53:49What about what kind of games? Yeah.
- 53:54So, no, I, I mean, I agree with what Shelton is saying for the
- 53:58most part, which I said it as soon as he was fired, you know,
- 54:03that I thought James Franklin was a good fit for Virginia
- 54:05Tech. Just from what we need
- 54:09standpoint. You get so many people, we've
- 54:11been through this like 10 million times.
- 54:13But from what we need, we need to get to the next step, the
- 54:17next game, not the big game. We got to get to the next game
- 54:22before we get to the big game. And I think somebody like James
- 54:24Franklin would come in and be, you know, have US playing
- 54:28serious football off the field and then on the field, as in
- 54:33money, recruiting, things like that, which in a sense gets you
- 54:38to play a real, you know, serious football on the field.
- 54:42I think he can do that really quickly.
- 54:44You know, I haven't really paid attention to Chesney much.
- 54:46I know that he's done a a good job at the stops he's been at.
- 54:51I just think it would for him, he would have to build a little
- 54:55bit more. And I don't know how much time
- 54:57we have to build. I think chess needs a good
- 54:59coach, but I'm just nervous about going after a coach that
- 55:03would need, oh, like, we get pride.
- 55:05Oh, we going to give him three years.
- 55:07Like if Virginia Tech is sorry for three years, what's going to
- 55:13be left? You know what I'm saying, like
- 55:16we get left out of everything you need to build right now.
- 55:19I think that's kind of the mindset that we're in one year.
- 55:23I mean, you can do it in a year. Somebody like James Franklin
- 55:26come in, bring in recruits, bring in, you know, transfer
- 55:29portal kids to be competitive next year.
- 55:34So in my mindset, that's of course what I think and what I
- 55:39want. But I also think that there's
- 55:43things that are already happening.
- 55:45You know, there's all this stuff going on on the boards.
- 55:48Everybody's seen it and heard it.
- 55:49And now you got Arkansas saying that they got Franklin and you
- 55:54know, you got people at Florida State.
- 55:55Don't nobody fucking know, man, for real.
- 55:57You know what I'm saying? Nobody really knows.
- 55:59I ain't going to say nobody knows.
- 56:01Somebody may know. I don't know.
- 56:03I know what I want to happen, but I know that there's a lot of
- 56:06smoke and mirrors out there because even somebody that I,
- 56:10you know, really trust about football in general and, you
- 56:14know, he's a coach in football and he talks to a lot of college
- 56:17footballs. He says he don't know, you know,
- 56:20he he said, hey, man, I thought this was happening and then this
- 56:23didn't happen. And then we had to go back and
- 56:25talk to the person about this. So things change a lot.
- 56:28And then there's a lot of legality that goes on in these
- 56:33in these contracts. Just like when you look at LSU
- 56:36with Brian Kelly, you know all he's fired.
- 56:38Then we got to go back and we got to because it's a lot of
- 56:40money that's tied to these contracts.
- 56:42So that's why it takes so long for these people to get things
- 56:47done. But I said all that to say Uncle
- 56:52James is coming home to Blacksburg.
- 56:56All right, Tally, put the stamp on it.
- 56:58The the I'm going to go to the Brian Kelly thing.
- 57:00Thank you all both for giving you all his opinion.
- 57:02Jumping out a couple weeks on it.
- 57:04The Brian Kelly thing is showing the biggest issue within college
- 57:07football. They fired him.
- 57:09They agreed to pay 54,000,000. Almost everybody can say, oh,
- 57:12this is what happened. They went and looked at the
- 57:14books y'all and they realized, wait a second, it's 54,000,000.
- 57:21We got to give to him and hit it and, and now Jesse said
- 57:24Norvell's isn't that Norvell's is a longer term play out.
- 57:28It could be. Spread out over I think 3 or 4
- 57:30years, something like. That all set language included,
- 57:33Yeah, but it's Kelly's is 54,000,000.
- 57:36His staff is probably 12 or 13 million, right?
- 57:39Somewhere in there. Then you got to pay the new
- 57:42coach and the new staff in and out.
- 57:44LSU have looked at their books. They ain't got the money.
- 57:49You know, and then this is another thing, yeah, this is
- 57:52another thing too, car. This is what you got to think
- 57:54about. All of the coaches salaries have
- 57:57been reset this year. You got, you know, you got Rhett
- 58:01Lashley that was down at SMU making 3,000,000, two and a half
- 58:06million something last year and he just gets a new deal where
- 58:10he's making 8 or 9. 8 or 9,000,000, yeah.
- 58:14You know, I'm not saying he's got a good coach.
- 58:16I think he's been good for that program.
- 58:19But guess what? The next coach is going to look
- 58:21at that and say it's just like any other sport.
- 58:23It's going to say, well, I've been to the playoffs and he's
- 58:26making 8 million. I deserve to get 9.
- 58:30I deserve to get 10. You know what I'm saying?
- 58:33So now if LSU wants to be a playoff team like some of these
- 58:39other teams around them, how much are they going to have to
- 58:40spend on the next coach? So like you say it, you're
- 58:43right, Curtis. They went and looked at the
- 58:45numbers and say it, oh shit, will you will you take less?
- 58:49Will you take less? And he's like, no, I ain't
- 58:51taking less. And they're like, we didn't got
- 58:53the money. What are we going to do?
- 58:55Because we need to pay him 54,000,000 and then we're going
- 58:58to have to get the next coach what, 10?
- 59:01It's a rough game out here, man. At least, Yeah, at least it's a
- 59:04rough game. Out here and, and, and we are
- 59:06now in the day and age, NIO is king because if you don't have
- 59:11your NIO situated and funded, the coach don't matter.
- 59:16Everybody says the coach matters.
- 59:18Coaching matters depending on your talent level.
- 59:21Because there ain't no way Brian, no disrespect to him, to
- 59:25Sydney, Nick Saban couldn't go take him to Sydney's roster and
- 59:28compete at the Division One level.
- 59:31He's the greatest coach of all time though, right?
- 59:34Why can't he? Talent matters.
- 59:37It's always mattered. And if you ain't got the money
- 59:40to pay your talent and you get your house in order on that end,
- 59:44coaching only marginally matters.
- 59:47Curtis, you don't think he could turn me into a Remington winner?
- 59:51I'm not saying that he going, he'll get you some arm
- 59:55extensions. Maybe.
- 59:58All right. So.
- 59:59That's kind of where the coaching is and and it's kind of
- 1:00:02to be honest, it's it's now sitting wait, it is what it is.
- 1:00:07Some of y'all going to be happy, whoever it is, some of y'all
- 1:00:10going to be pissed. It's gonna be fun to talk about
- 1:00:13who the coordinator hires is in the next month or two as we see
- 1:00:17that come down. It's gonna be fun how the portal
- 1:00:18works, who stays, who goes. So just let's just sit back
- 1:00:23because now I'm like Sheldon, I'm, I'm almost burned.
- 1:00:27I'm like Sheldon Sheldon's burned out.
- 1:00:29I'm like this close to getting burned out.
- 1:00:31So luckily. Actual news.
- 1:00:34Give me some actual news. Something to chew on.
- 1:00:36I don't want to. I don't.
- 1:00:37Want to have to scrounge through the the board like Reed T
- 1:00:42leaves. I'm done with that.
- 1:00:44All right, here we go. Here's the news.
- 1:00:47The Virginia Tech Hokie basketball team is, too.
- 1:00:51That's the news. Two and oh.
- 1:00:54And not even that though, because that happens.
- 1:00:57I ain't going to say that happens all the time, but that's
- 1:00:59just, you know, basketball. It don't matter till you get to
- 1:01:02ACC play. But the real but they.
- 1:01:03Beat A-Team but hold on. Hold on.
- 1:01:05But they beat A-Team. That's projected to go to the
- 1:01:07tournament. Finish third in the Big East.
- 1:01:09Still don't matter, still don't matter to me because I feel like
- 1:01:12when you go, when you get into ACC play night in and night out,
- 1:01:17you start to see who your team really is.
- 1:01:19Now, I'm saying that to say the real news is Virginia Tech has a
- 1:01:25legit basketball player on that team that will carry them
- 1:01:29through that ACC slate. Because my knock on, I don't
- 1:01:34want to say knock, but what I always said like about Mike
- 1:01:37Young's roster was, man, we got to get some bigger guards.
- 1:01:41Because when you start playing, you know, Duke and you start
- 1:01:44playing North Carolina and Virginia, the man, they got big
- 1:01:49guards for the most part, you know, 6465 guards, long arms to
- 1:01:53jump. And then we will be rolling out
- 1:01:55with Storm Murphy. No disrespect trying to play
- 1:01:59against these guards night in the night out of this heart now
- 1:02:01* Murphy did a great job. Like I said, no disrespect to
- 1:02:04that kid. But if you want to win, you got
- 1:02:09to you need to be bigger, you know, at that guard position in
- 1:02:13the ACC. Well, Neo is bigger.
- 1:02:16You know, I got to give the kid his props.
- 1:02:18I try not to be on the hike train all offseason because I
- 1:02:22was just like, yeah, I want to see him play.
- 1:02:23I've seen some of the stuff he was doing.
- 1:02:27But when you watch him on the floor, he moves like Luca, man,
- 1:02:29I hate to say that because I'm a Laker fan, but people were
- 1:02:34saying that he really does like 6-9 two 15220 and just he he
- 1:02:41doesn't look like he's moving fast, but he gets to a spot and
- 1:02:45he makes his shots and, and you can't, you can't stay in front
- 1:02:48of him. It's like there is no defense
- 1:02:51for a great offense. That's that's just real.
- 1:02:54In fact, that you can be the greatest defender ever, but you
- 1:02:57cannot really, really stop a great offensive player.
- 1:03:02Neo seems like a great offensive player.
- 1:03:04When the game gets tough, you can give him the ball and get
- 1:03:07out of his way. That has always been my knock on
- 1:03:10what Mike Young has had. I'm like, man, he can't get
- 1:03:12those type of players. I don't know what they paid him
- 1:03:15and I don't know how he did it, but he got 1.
- 1:03:18So shout out to Mike Young and his staff for bringing Neo to
- 1:03:22Blacksburg and let them do his thing.
- 1:03:25Sheldon, I know you got some information on that, right?
- 1:03:27And you paid attention to Neo, right?
- 1:03:30Yeah, I've been been following the interrupts.
- 1:03:33It's pretty crazy. I feel like we sort of have an
- 1:03:35Internet sensation on our hands with all the the buzz that
- 1:03:38Nico's been getting, like lots of popular college basketball
- 1:03:41accounts tweeting about him, you know, doing deep dives and all
- 1:03:43that stuff. The memes with Luca have been
- 1:03:46pretty good too. So it's it's kind of fun.
- 1:03:48Not only is Tech good, but they're also kind of nationally
- 1:03:50relevant, at least so far. But I I'm really happy with how
- 1:03:54things have gone so far. I mean, I try not to overreact
- 1:03:57to, you know, college basketball too early, especially from like
- 1:04:00a, you know, stats perspective because we're still kind of
- 1:04:03figuring things out and seeing, you know, how the team performs
- 1:04:06early on. But I mean, so far it's been
- 1:04:08pretty good. The one thing I like, you know,
- 1:04:09Tech has been significantly improved in terms of their
- 1:04:12turnover rate. It was such a bad problem last
- 1:04:14year. They weren't worse in the
- 1:04:15country, but now they're 17th and turnover percent so far this
- 1:04:19year. And I think the thing that Mike
- 1:04:20talked about in the precinct was that, you know, he's got 3 ball
- 1:04:23handlers between obviously Abdallas who's sort of like a
- 1:04:27point forward, kind of like our our LeBron.
- 1:04:30But then you've also got guys like Jalen Bedford who can
- 1:04:34handle the ball a little bit and Ben Hammond as well.
- 1:04:37So I, I think we've got a much more, a much better compliment
- 1:04:41at guards, at the guard spot at, at the one.
- 1:04:45And you've also got more versatility at the, at the, you
- 1:04:47know, center position between Toby Lawall and Imani Monte
- 1:04:52Hansberry, who, you know, can kind of provide a good punch at
- 1:04:54that four or five spot and some more positional versatility too.
- 1:04:57So it's a much more deep and versatile roster than it was
- 1:05:01last year. So I think what we're seeing is
- 1:05:03that Mike, when he has his tools to work with, he can be, he can
- 1:05:06be a very good coach. Well, I'm.
- 1:05:08Going to I'm going to make it. You brought up.
- 1:05:11Can I say 3 points? So first of all you talk about
- 1:05:14size wise two of the guys brought in this year Jaden shoot
- 1:05:2165210 Tyler Johnson guard 65210. So not only I think Johnson was
- 1:05:29here last year y'all have to get me.
- 1:05:31But shoot was a transfer. I know you're talking about
- 1:05:34bigger guards, so you got three big guards like that, but the
- 1:05:38other thing in Charlie, I'll get it back to you Saturday and I
- 1:05:42didn't get to watch it. I don't have Peacock sucked.
- 1:05:45My buddy Robbie, he's in the chat tonight.
- 1:05:46He's been a while. Football season's over down in
- 1:05:48the mountains. He was giving us updates and you
- 1:05:52know, watch the highlights. But watching the game flow that
- 1:05:54first half, Neo kept this in the game because we were only down 6
- 1:05:58and half and it was him. It was him.
- 1:06:00He had like what, 2019 to 20 in the first half, but then they
- 1:06:05figured out what the adjustments in Hansberry in the wall and the
- 1:06:10other guys in the second-half of that game.
- 1:06:13Not only did he continue to score, but they picked up the
- 1:06:15slack and and it's been so many years where that didn't happen.
- 1:06:20So it was enjoyable seeing that. Go ahead, Tyler, what you got?
- 1:06:25Yeah, no, I was just going to say, and you know, a lot of talk
- 1:06:27has been about Neo, of course, because of how good he's been.
- 1:06:31But you can go look at Hansberry when Sheldon brought up as well.
- 1:06:35He's damn near averaging 20 and 20 and 10 right now.
- 1:06:39I know it's only been two games, but when you got a big man
- 1:06:42that's and I mean he's not thinking maybe like 6869
- 1:06:46playing, you know, center or position.
- 1:06:49Yeah, he's got some, he's got some some beef in the inside.
- 1:06:52And I just when you watch him play, he's just got a little bit
- 1:06:55different, a little bit different motor than I'm used to
- 1:07:00kind of Virginia Tech big men having has good hands, good feet
- 1:07:05and he get after the ball. You know, he's going after every
- 1:07:08rebound. He's not shying away from any
- 1:07:11contact. He just seems to be in the right
- 1:07:15places at the right time, which helps when you have somebody
- 1:07:18that's distributing the ball like Neo.
- 1:07:20But again, I think he's averaging 18 and 12 right there
- 1:07:23in those two games. I mean, that's a big deal, man.
- 1:07:26And then like you, Sheldon and and Curtis as well.
- 1:07:30You brought up a little while, like I think he's right around
- 1:07:3513 and 12 or something like that.
- 1:07:37He's just a, he's a athletic guy that's just on the rim and it's
- 1:07:43a fun team to watch right now, man.
- 1:07:44So anybody who hadn't been watching, because I'm a, I'm a
- 1:07:47big sports fan. I mean, I'm a huge basketball
- 1:07:50fan as well as football, but I just haven't had much excitement
- 1:07:56watching Virginia Tech as of late.
- 1:07:59This team has been exciting to watch.
- 1:08:01And again, try not to get too excited at the beginning of the
- 1:08:04season about stats and plays and where we line up and stuff like
- 1:08:09that. But even if we lost that game
- 1:08:12against Providence, it was exciting to watch.
- 1:08:15I'm like, man, this team is fun to watch.
- 1:08:17So I'm excited, man. I hope, and I never say it.
- 1:08:21I know people will try to say I said I never said Mike Young
- 1:08:25wasn't a good coach. I didn't ever say that, I think.
- 1:08:27He's a good guy. We did say that.
- 1:08:30I just think that I just said I thought he was old and outdated.
- 1:08:33So I'm excited to see what he does with this talent that he
- 1:08:36has and how these guys compete this year because they look
- 1:08:42good. They they look like it's going
- 1:08:44to be a fun year to pay attention to basketball.
- 1:08:48Duke looks really good too. So I will be.
- 1:08:50I got a kid that graduated from here in Grissom.
- 1:08:54He's at Clemson, so I'm going to try to solicit some tickets from
- 1:08:58him so I can check one of them games out this year.
- 1:09:00There we go. I'm interested to see what a
- 1:09:04Mike Young team looks like that isn't overly dependent on the
- 1:09:10three and then having like one other primary score.
- 1:09:13I feel like we've got enough people that can get their shots
- 1:09:18in this offense. It doesn't all have to come from
- 1:09:21the three-point line or go through one person, although Neo
- 1:09:24has the ability to be kind of that take over a game type
- 1:09:27player. So I'm interested to see how
- 1:09:31Mike Young evolves with this roster in terms of what he's
- 1:09:36trying to do from an offensive standpoint because you know, we
- 1:09:39know what he can do when he's got shooters out there.
- 1:09:42I'm interested to see what he can do with having a true
- 1:09:47versatile mismatched nightmare weapon like Neo, and how he can
- 1:09:51draw up some interesting things to play off of that.
- 1:09:55Well, I mentioned this last week, or maybe I didn't mention
- 1:09:58the last week when we go last week Tuesday night, have they
- 1:10:01played the game? I don't remember.
- 1:10:03Yeah, yeah, yeah, they played the game and he did it again
- 1:10:06Saturday. And it's to Tally's point, my
- 1:10:09young system can work, But every time you draw up a player and
- 1:10:13have a set play, which Mike does a lot right, not all the time,
- 1:10:18is it going to get you the best shot.
- 1:10:20For years, at least as long as I've known Jonathan Gen.
- 1:10:24Tech basketball, I just want to tell he's always say I just want
- 1:10:27a guy that we're up three points, we need to extend it.
- 1:10:31And you know what? You don't say just go, go score
- 1:10:34a bucket. And we've seen Neo do that like
- 1:10:37you've seen him just literally stop, step back, fadeaways, just
- 1:10:41take him to the rim for a layup or playing A2 man game with
- 1:10:44somebody and giving them an easy slammer, an easy shot.
- 1:10:47And when that happens, it's those times where we had made a
- 1:10:50bucket in 2 minutes, they cut an 8 point lead to four.
- 1:10:53He does something, cuts it back up, goes back to seven and you
- 1:10:57killed him. You know what?
- 1:10:59Yeah. And you know what else, Curtis?
- 1:11:00If you go back and look at that Providence game, he plays good
- 1:11:05defense. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:11:07Like. He.
- 1:11:08Has the length, yeah, he has the length to play defense.
- 1:11:11And I've seen a couple times where they tried to put him in a
- 1:11:14bad spot and, and, and get to the rim on him and he knows how
- 1:11:18to use his body to go straight up and didn't cause a foul.
- 1:11:21So he's a very, very smart player, which a lot of times
- 1:11:25those, those European guys are like years ahead of what how old
- 1:11:30they are. They might not even be the age
- 1:11:32that they say they is. He might be 30 years old.
- 1:11:33You know, I don't know what I'm just saying.
- 1:11:36Like most of those European guys, because they play with
- 1:11:40such older guys for so many years, when they come over here,
- 1:11:44they're like they're pretty much pros already.
- 1:11:47And somebody in the chat said it sucks that we haven't for one
- 1:11:50year. No, that's a great thing in
- 1:11:53basketball. You want to have a one and done
- 1:11:56because that gets somebody at your school that has a great
- 1:11:59year for him to be 1 and done and then he goes to the league.
- 1:12:02We don't want him to go nowhere else and carry their name.
- 1:12:05We want them to go to the league and carry Virginia Tech's name
- 1:12:08and say, oh, that he was at Virginia Tech and that brings
- 1:12:10more eyes to your school. So I'm excited to see what he
- 1:12:13does this year. Sean, is there anything else you
- 1:12:17wrote in your article or anything else you want to pump
- 1:12:20because Saint Joe's tomorrow night?
- 1:12:22Not the Saint Joe's of old, but another decent challenge there.
- 1:12:26Yeah, they're a decent team out of the 810.
- 1:12:29I think it'll be a good, a good, solid challenge.
- 1:12:32I'd say on the whole, like we guys were talking about, you
- 1:12:34know, Mike has said this will not be a great 3 point shooting
- 1:12:36team. This they could be an OK 3 point
- 1:12:38shooting team, but I think they're mostly going to play
- 1:12:40through Nico, who can obviously, you know, shoot from outside,
- 1:12:43but he's a really good mid range score, can get to the bucket as
- 1:12:45well. And also, you know, run the
- 1:12:48offense through Toby and Hansberry as well, because I
- 1:12:50think I think Hansberry is very talented and him and Toby are
- 1:12:53both very long and just have a ton of athleticism.
- 1:12:56So, you know, they'll they'll get the ball inside a little bit
- 1:12:59more and kind of just let Neo do his thing.
- 1:13:03So yeah, I mean, I think I think it'll be a good team.
- 1:13:07It'll be a good team. Again, the big thing is really
- 1:13:09just, you know, defense. How much of how much of a step
- 1:13:12up are they going to take from from last year?
- 1:13:15I think they'll be a better rebounding team.
- 1:13:17And I think they'll also score a lot more in transition just
- 1:13:20because they've got more speed and athleticism than they did a
- 1:13:24season ago. So, and, and typically in
- 1:13:26transition offense has not been a big thing under Mike.
- 1:13:28But from what he was saying at Charlotte in the in the ACC
- 1:13:31media day, he thinks it's going to be a little bit more of a a
- 1:13:34staple of his offense this season.
- 1:13:36So very excited to watch that. All right, perfect, perfect.
- 1:13:40Also go to T play. Check out Sheldon's preview.
- 1:13:44Get all the insurance and outs of this team this year.
- 1:13:48All right, real quick, get back to football.
- 1:13:54First of all, does anyone have faith that we are going to win
- 1:13:58Saturday night? Is anybody picking the Hokies to
- 1:14:01win in US Four? I'm not.
- 1:14:06I think it'll be competitive, but no, I'm not picking them to
- 1:14:08win. OK, Dally.
- 1:14:11Saying they're going to be competitive, think it'll be kind
- 1:14:14of what we it's kind of a coin flip because you got two teams
- 1:14:17that like don't know how to win, but I just think they got more
- 1:14:22talent than us because we got so many people that are out and and
- 1:14:26not there. So I'm not picking up to win,
- 1:14:28but I'm I'm if the line would be was 13 1/2.
- 1:14:34Is that what the line is? 13 Half is blind.
- 1:14:38Yeah, no, I think I would pick us to cover, but not to win.
- 1:14:43Yeah. Yeah, same exact space.
- 1:14:45I mean, I think it's going to be about a 8 or 9 point victory for
- 1:14:50the Seminoles. You know, I could push it to 10
- 1:14:52if you if you said the line was 9 1/2, I might pick FSU against
- 1:14:57the spread there. But you know, 13 1/2 is is I
- 1:15:02think too rich. I think we'll keep it close.
- 1:15:04I think we'll play it tough, but I think we kind of fade in the
- 1:15:07fourth quarter and kind of let them get a little bit of
- 1:15:10distance between us before the whistle blows there at the end.
- 1:15:15Yeah, I think this is going to be similar to the Louisville
- 1:15:18game. I think we're going to punch him
- 1:15:20the whole time. But what he mentioned induce a
- 1:15:24kid who has that sort of explosion in their other kid to
- 1:15:27go over the top. They're going to run the ball
- 1:15:29well enough against us. I know we have been doing better
- 1:15:32against the run, but it's it's Shelton's 8 old adage, right?
- 1:15:36They're going to hit probably 3 explosive plays.
- 1:15:38They're going to hit 3 plays, 30 yards plus something like 2717
- 1:15:44we cover. But again, we just don't have
- 1:15:47the passing offense right now to keep up.
- 1:15:49Literally, if a monsoon came through Saturday night, we'd
- 1:15:53have a shot, but unfortunately we don't.
- 1:15:56So you know, is what it is. We said Mike Norville saves his
- 1:16:00job because he beats Virginia Tech.
- 1:16:03There you go. All right, let's go because we
- 1:16:08still got then I will say this, pull it up Sheldon Talic.
- 1:16:14Y'all got to get over 500. OK, just so one person on this
- 1:16:18podcast has a winning record because me and Brian ain't got
- 1:16:21no chance in hell. Yeah, the math, I think math it
- 1:16:23on my end. Well we've had now if, if y'all
- 1:16:27haven't counted, me and Brian have had 3 / 4 weekends, 6
- 1:16:33combined. That's impressive.
- 1:16:34So fade us whatever we do. Tally and Shelton started rough.
- 1:16:38They have been slowly climbing back and it's been it's been a
- 1:16:43fun season of games, as it always is.
- 1:16:46You know, it's always fun games. It's out here.
- 1:16:49So regardless what happens, I can be mad with us.
- 1:16:54At least now it's not the the point where it's like I'm angry.
- 1:16:58I don't want to watch any other games.
- 1:17:00I was at peace early in the season.
- 1:17:01I'm at peace the rest of the season.
- 1:17:03So let's make some picks. Let's see if either of us can go
- 1:17:08really bad. I'm picking first here.
- 1:17:12I thought this was an interesting match up with NC
- 1:17:14State. NC State versus Miami down at
- 1:17:18Miami, Miami laying 15 1/2. NC State either is ass or they
- 1:17:25play like their hair is on fire. There is no middle ground for
- 1:17:28them. They beat Georgia Tech, they
- 1:17:32they lost to us though. You make that make sense.
- 1:17:36In this case though, as much as I like Miami, I think NC State
- 1:17:40does have enough talent. I think that's too big of a
- 1:17:43line. I think this is somewhere like a
- 1:17:4510 point game. Give me NC State.
- 1:17:49I'll think that, points Sheldon. Yeah, I took NC State, although
- 1:17:57in hindsight I might want to switch it, But I, I do think
- 1:18:01that they're coming off a really emotional win against Georgia
- 1:18:05Tech and I, I actually don't like teams when they're coming
- 1:18:07off emotional wins. So for that reason, my brain
- 1:18:10would kind of say Miami, but kind of like you said, Curtis,
- 1:18:1315 1/2. That's a pretty big line.
- 1:18:14I could see them losing by two touchdowns, but three scores
- 1:18:17would be a little bit much. So I'll take, I'll take the
- 1:18:19back. And and real quick, Shelton,
- 1:18:21they did have last week off. So they did not.
- 1:18:26They did. They did have to have that
- 1:18:27buffer in between the big win. There's more time to think about
- 1:18:30it even worse. Or is it better?
- 1:18:33What do you think, Tally? Well, I my first mind was North
- 1:18:40Carolina State, so I I chose North Carolina State.
- 1:18:43But then now that I'm paying attention and Curtis picked
- 1:18:47North Carolina State, I wish I could switch mine and fade him.
- 1:18:52No, but I kind of had to say I kind of had the same mindset as
- 1:18:56y'all. I just feel like that's too many
- 1:18:59points. I think with how bogus the ACC
- 1:19:03is, it don't even have to do with these two teams.
- 1:19:05I just think that something has to happen to cause chaos.
- 1:19:09So 15 1/2 is too much. It's got to be a close game.
- 1:19:14I think Miami still pulls it off, but I think it's a close
- 1:19:17game and North Carolina State loses by maybe 10, something
- 1:19:23like that. You know what, Tyler, are you
- 1:19:28going to see this and he going to wish you would definitely.
- 1:19:30Think Miami. Oh boy, she was stuck with
- 1:19:33Miami, man. Hey, so I will say this.
- 1:19:39You know this is 1. If you'd have told me that line
- 1:19:43was 12 1/2, you could probably talk me into taking Miami here.
- 1:19:4915 and a hook just seems like way too many points.
- 1:19:53There's way too many different ways that can fall where it's
- 1:19:57it's 15 or fewer here, I think. It's you're up, you're up 4221
- 1:20:01and you take everybody out and they sneak a touchdown in.
- 1:20:04Yeah, it's it's it's goofy shit that you can get this one.
- 1:20:07I I feel like it's going to be like I said about a about a
- 1:20:10about a 12 point victory for the for the Hurricanes here, but I
- 1:20:14did not like that 15 1/2. So I'm going to state.
- 1:20:18All right. Who's next?
- 1:20:24Is that me? Did I just use that?
- 1:20:26I think that's me. That is you.
- 1:20:30Interesting game to me. You know, Georgia, I got a lot
- 1:20:33of Georgia fans, friends here, so I, you know, kind of pay
- 1:20:37attention to them. Georgia hadn't been super
- 1:20:40impressive this year. I mean, compared to what we've
- 1:20:44seen, they've been impressive, but I'm just saying the Georgia
- 1:20:48old, you know, just going out and blowing teams out and stuff
- 1:20:51and Texas is just a weird team. You know, I, I feel like I never
- 1:20:55know what I'm going to get from Texas.
- 1:20:56You know, I don't think the quarterback's that good, but I
- 1:20:59also think that their team is pretty solid.
- 1:21:04So I think it's going to be an interesting game.
- 1:21:08But I did take you, I did take Georgia to win in this one and
- 1:21:12to cover in this one just because I think that Arch is
- 1:21:16going to give up some interceptions.
- 1:21:21Brad. Yeah, I'm right there with you,
- 1:21:25Tally. Oh, man, I'm riding with Georgia
- 1:21:27with you Tally. I don't know what Texas team is
- 1:21:32going to show up. And that's really the difference
- 1:21:36in this. I mean, that's a Texas team that
- 1:21:38lost to Florida by 8 at home. Georgia's a lot better than
- 1:21:42Florida. Yeah, that's a, that's a Texas
- 1:21:45team that, you know, was in a dog fight with Kentucky and then
- 1:21:50turned around 2 weeks later and, and beat Vanderbilt.
- 1:21:53So I don't really know what to expect from them.
- 1:21:55But because of that, I am going to ride with Georgia.
- 1:21:59I think they're the more consistent team.
- 1:22:01I think they're the team that can probably take care of
- 1:22:03business by a touchdown at home. All right, Yeah.
- 1:22:08Does it mean Sheldon, you get to go forth?
- 1:22:11Hold on young man Tally Shelton because I think I if I can
- 1:22:19remember what Shelton picked, I'm going dogs on this one.
- 1:22:22The reality is the the tally's like, oh God.
- 1:22:27The reality is Texas could be like 4 and 5 right now.
- 1:22:31They should have lost Mississippi State.
- 1:22:33They should have lost to Kentucky.
- 1:22:35The honest truth is that Vanderbilt had got their head
- 1:22:38out of their ass for the fourth quarter.
- 1:22:39They would have lost to Vanderbilt.
- 1:22:41They are not a good team. The best game they played all
- 1:22:44year was at Oklahoma neutral site when Mattie didn't have a
- 1:22:46damn thumb. They get their doors blown.
- 1:22:50If this was 10, I did no. Yeah, I just, I don't know how
- 1:22:59much I trust Arch against the really elite defense.
- 1:23:01I think George is going to be the the second best defense
- 1:23:03that'll that he'll play so far behind Ohio State.
- 1:23:06So just not just not sold on him going into that background and
- 1:23:10coming away with the with the cover.
- 1:23:13There we go. All right, there we go.
- 1:23:15And Sheldon, it's back to you. Yeah, I just, I chose this game
- 1:23:19cuz I thought it was kind of interesting.
- 1:23:20You've got Louisville that's coming off just a horrendous
- 1:23:22loss against Cal potentially cost him a playoff spot and then
- 1:23:27the Clemson team that kind of had a get right game against
- 1:23:31against FSU. So I'm going Louisville.
- 1:23:34I think it kind of the opposite what I said the last time where
- 1:23:37I pick against teams ahead and they're coming off an emotional
- 1:23:39win. I am picking for Louisville
- 1:23:41because I think they're going to be really pissed off after that
- 1:23:43loss last week and they're going to they're going to have their
- 1:23:46heads screwed on straight against Clemson.
- 1:23:48They're going to take out the frustration on them.
- 1:23:52All right, Tally. Yeah, I'm going to go with
- 1:23:56Clemson in this game just because Dabo has the Lord on his
- 1:24:00side and he needs to get to a bowl game to kind of salvage his
- 1:24:04job a little bit. Think that he's going to do that
- 1:24:07somehow, but I think that this will be a big win for him.
- 1:24:11Dabo can coach. You know, I don't know how they
- 1:24:15line up against Louisville on paper.
- 1:24:18I haven't paid attention to the two teams, but I watched
- 1:24:20Virginia Tech play Louisville and should have beat them, and
- 1:24:23then I watched Louisville the next week play Cow and and lose.
- 1:24:30So I feel like Clemson's going to go in there and take care of
- 1:24:35business and win this game unless Curtis says the same
- 1:24:39thing I did. Sally, I hate to tell you
- 1:24:44something, it's not Curtis, but it is me.
- 1:24:48I'm riding with Clemson on this one too.
- 1:24:52I don't necessarily think that Clemson had a get right game,
- 1:24:55but I just don't think Louisville is quite the team
- 1:24:59that we think they are. I think they've been exposed.
- 1:25:01Is that running back hurt? Is that running back hurt that
- 1:25:04that hamstring injured? I think I don't know if he's
- 1:25:07going to play or not. I haven't heard final if he's
- 1:25:09going to be playing or not. But we, we.
- 1:25:11Know that on Thursday. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:14I thought I was saying that he was still hurting.
- 1:25:16Yeah, you know. I think Brown's still out.
- 1:25:20Yeah, I, I, I'm not, I'm not. I'm not too high on Louisville
- 1:25:24as a team. I think they're going to be,
- 1:25:27it's going to be a tight game, but I think I think Clemson
- 1:25:30probably pulls this off. I think they went out right
- 1:25:33probably, but it's going to come down to the wire on this one.
- 1:25:41Louisville's a better coach. Team Louisville's in a good
- 1:25:43headspace. Louisville's playing for
- 1:25:45something. I think they were 15th in the
- 1:25:46rankings tonight. They still have a playoff shot
- 1:25:50with a couple games left. They have still a child to go
- 1:25:52to. The ACCI think they win by a
- 1:25:55touchdown all right, because clearly the Lord ain't on Dabo's
- 1:26:00side to have all that talent. The guy can't barely win four
- 1:26:03games, so he ain't the Lord ain't on this side.
- 1:26:07Man, you got to look at the whole body of work.
- 1:26:09Curtis, he's been there for a while.
- 1:26:10He. Said the whole body of work.
- 1:26:13The whole body of work. The whole body of work.
- 1:26:17Clearly he sold his soul to the devil for a few years.
- 1:26:19That's why he got lucky and won all those titles.
- 1:26:22There you go. That that may be, that may be
- 1:26:24true too. He's sold, his soul sold to New
- 1:26:27Spring. New spring church, by the way,
- 1:26:31Tally, I sent you a text. February 11th, Tech plays down
- 1:26:35at Clemson. That's the one.
- 1:26:36I think that's the Saturday too. Had to check that out man, see
- 1:26:40what I can do to make it there. So you can make it up.
- 1:26:43You know what, I picked this and then I've seen what what
- 1:26:46Narduzia said. So I might have to go back on
- 1:26:49this, but we got Notre Dame, Pitt plus 11 1/2.
- 1:26:53This is apparently not a big game, guys.
- 1:26:55This this. Not a big game, doesn't.
- 1:26:56Matter at all. It's this opponent has no no
- 1:26:59bearing because it's not an ACC opponent.
- 1:27:02So we don't give a shit about them.
- 1:27:04But Notre Dame is going to Pittsburgh nonetheless.
- 1:27:08And The funny thing about this one is that line, I think if you
- 1:27:13if you'd have bumped this down to 8 1/2, I might would have
- 1:27:16maybe lean towards the Irish, but 11 1/2 is just too much.
- 1:27:19So I went with. Pitt, I too went with Pitt way
- 1:27:24too much like biggest game that Pitt since like 2005 or
- 1:27:29something like game days there. It's a noon kick.
- 1:27:32It's going to be like the Big 12 O clock game and Arduchi can say
- 1:27:37what he wants. And this is where it's like
- 1:27:39you're in an era where, like games like this still matter
- 1:27:43because if they went out and go 10 and two and they have a Notre
- 1:27:46Dame win on their resume, they could sneak in again.
- 1:27:51This is why, like, This is why all those people, when I know
- 1:27:54Sheldon Tally got to say This is why all those people who said
- 1:27:56the playoffs is going to kill the regular season?
- 1:27:59No, because in no conceived circumstances 10 years ago would
- 1:28:05Pitt have had any chance to get into a playoff playing Notre
- 1:28:09Dame this late. They wouldn't have 7 and 2
- 1:28:11million in. They do now.
- 1:28:13This game's massive. And also if Notre Dame takes
- 1:28:17another L, there ain't no way they're making it.
- 1:28:20I don't know if Pitt can win. I hate Norduzzi, but I don't
- 1:28:23like Notre Dame and I don't. I don't know.
- 1:28:26Lemon has too much. Well, according to Pat and
- 1:28:31Norduzzi, this game doesn't matter, so I will.
- 1:28:34I don't know if you guys saw that on Twitter.
- 1:28:36His quotes, yeah. But.
- 1:28:39Yeah, I don't know how the the players are going to take that.
- 1:28:41I I'd imagine they'll be pretty inspired after that, hopefully.
- 1:28:43But yeah, Notre Dame will definitely win.
- 1:28:45But I do like pits cover, so give me the Panthers.
- 1:28:49Same premise I feel and I feel crazy now I need to go switch
- 1:28:55these picks man. I'm trying to get the Curtis
- 1:28:57wants me to get the 500 but he keeps picking with me.
- 1:29:01Well, it isn't. Curtis and Brian.
- 1:29:03Listen, Brian, listen. I'm usually the first woman.
- 1:29:06To talk himself there. Brian started the year off
- 1:29:09wrong, so we should be fading him.
- 1:29:12I'm thinking the same thing now that Narduzzi's came on and said
- 1:29:16his crazy stuff that he said. But that man is crazy.
- 1:29:19So I don't even listen to anything he says.
- 1:29:22He's probably, you know, he's smoking mirrors and he goes in
- 1:29:25the locker room and gets high off cocaine or something.
- 1:29:28Who knows what he does, but he's going to be he's, he's going to
- 1:29:32be dude. He's going to be out for this
- 1:29:36game. You know what he probably did.
- 1:29:38You know what he probably did, He probably had all the kids.
- 1:29:41He probably said this is this is such an important game for who
- 1:29:44we are. We beat them, we knocked them
- 1:29:45out, we get in. But watch what I'm going to say
- 1:29:47to the press. Y'all going to get a kick out
- 1:29:50this and he goes out. They don't.
- 1:29:51Care. They didn't, yeah, they didn't
- 1:29:53care about the ACC, so we don't care about them.
- 1:29:56And I'm telling he's always doing something crazy, but I
- 1:29:59think, I don't think they win this game, but I think they
- 1:30:02cover. Yeah, I think they, I think they
- 1:30:04battle them. All right, so there are the big
- 1:30:07screeners bunch and there is more good games.
- 1:30:09I mean, we didn't even throw Alabama, Oklahoma on.
- 1:30:11Yeah, that's a massive bite this weekend.
- 1:30:13There's a couple of them, Lane Kiffin against Florida.
- 1:30:16We remember what happened at this time last year.
- 1:30:19Ole Miss was in, they're in the playoffs, then they shit down
- 1:30:23their leg and they were out of the playoffs.
- 1:30:25Love it. Anything to add tonight
- 1:30:28gentlemen, before we wrap this up?
- 1:30:33Oh, I. Don't.
- 1:30:35Yeah, I think we're good. I want to throw one thing in
- 1:30:38there. Hold on one second.
- 1:30:39Curtis. Give me just a second here.
- 1:30:44Trying to see who Curtis's best friend plays this week.
- 1:30:48OK. Curtis's best buddy, Shane.
- 1:30:52Plays. Texas A&N plays Texas A&M this
- 1:30:57week. He's going to win the game.
- 1:30:58Watch because you didn't put it on the board that was your big.
- 1:31:01Screener So that was going to be my question.
- 1:31:04That was going to be my question.
- 1:31:06He's sitting at 3:00 and 6:00, the same record as the Hokies.
- 1:31:10Is Shane on going here and shot the number 3 Texas A&M Aggies
- 1:31:17Curtis? No, no, although, although he's
- 1:31:22done all the right moves by firing people ahead of time to
- 1:31:26save his job for next year, I don't think he can win that
- 1:31:29game. That's that's down there.
- 1:31:32That line's 18 1/2. Nope.
- 1:31:36I don't think the game's what about either one of y'all. 2:00
- 1:31:41AM. I taking South Carolina.
- 1:31:44Brian, what you think? No, this is fade.
- 1:31:49Shane, you. Don't think he can go on it.
- 1:31:51You don't think they're going in shock them.
- 1:31:52We go fade Shane the rest of the way.
- 1:31:56Fade Shane baby. Fade Shane.
- 1:31:59Biggest win this year could be against a three and six Virginia
- 1:32:03Tech team and you gave your daughter the game ball.
- 1:32:06Fuck off. There you go, Shelton.
- 1:32:11My audio cut out for a second, what were you guys talking
- 1:32:13about? Talking about can, can, can they
- 1:32:16beat Texas A&M this weekend? No, no, they they will not.
- 1:32:22Texas name is legit man. They are, they are legit.
- 1:32:25I I was done a great job there. He has done, could have been our
- 1:32:28coach. Could have been our coach, but.
- 1:32:30Hey, could have been our coach. Well, we're not going to get
- 1:32:33into that today. We can get into that stay of the
- 1:32:36program roughly 5 weeks away. We'll get into that, right?
