- 0:00A question recently arose about how to become aware of the
- 0:03subtle vital envelope that surrounds the physical body and
- 0:08acts to protect it. One can practice quieting the
- 0:12mind, the emotions, the vital energies and the body and just
- 0:18feeling the sensation of the wider body until it becomes
- 0:22vivid and constant. One can close one's eyes, sit
- 0:27quietly, and have another individual quietly move a hand
- 0:31toward the body, not quite touching it, and sense where it
- 0:35is. One can begin to observe and
- 0:38feel. When some pressure is felt, such
- 0:40as a feeling of the beginning of a cold or other physical
- 0:45imbalance, that pressure first touches the aura.
- 0:51Sometimes when 1 is in a situation, there is a sudden
- 0:54feeling of someone observing or approaching but not in the line
- 0:59of sight. Careful observation can help 1
- 1:02become aware of the subtle energies picked up by the aura.
- 1:06The main thing is a quiet receptivity and practice.
- 1:11These are simple and practical steps, but do not exhaust the
- 1:15possibilities. The question of immunity to
- 1:20illness, Whoever goes beyond simply becoming aware of the
- 1:23vital envelope and applying mental and vital support to the
- 1:27vital sheath. This represents just the first
- 1:30step in creating true and lasting immunity.
- 1:34But there is much more. The next step is to call in the
- 1:39force that is activated through the practice of yoga and learn
- 1:43how to hold it without spilling it, expanding there by the power
- 1:47and force active in the vital nature and the physical body to
- 1:52resist the vibrations of illness.
- 1:55This can dramatically increase the ability to ward off illness.
- 2:00Srioro Bindo distinguishes these things from the transformation
- 2:04of the human nature that is expected with the Super mental
- 2:07manifestation and the changes that brings to mind, life and
- 2:12body, Orbindo writes. Quote.
- 2:17All illnesses pass through the nervous or vital physical sheath
- 2:21of the subtle consciousness and subtle body before they enter
- 2:25the physical. If one is conscious of the
- 2:28subtle body, or with the subtle consciousness, 1 can stop an
- 2:33illness on its way and prevent it from entering the physical
- 2:36body. But it may have come without
- 2:39one's noticing, or when one is asleep, or through the
- 2:43subconscient, or in a sudden rush.
- 2:45When one is off 1's guard, then there's nothing to do but to
- 2:50fight it out from a hold already gained on the body. self-defense
- 2:56by these inner means may become so strong that the body becomes
- 3:00practically immune, as many yogis are.
- 3:04Still, this practically does not mean absolutely.
- 3:08The absolute immunity can only come with the supermental
- 3:12change, for below the supermental it is the result of
- 3:16an action of a force among many forces and can be disturbed by a
- 3:21disruption of the equilibrium established in the supermental.
- 3:26It is a law of the nature. In a supermentalized body,
- 3:30immunity from illness would be automatic, inherent in its new
- 3:34nature. There is a difference between
- 3:38yogic force on the mental and inferior planes and the Super
- 3:42mental nature. What is acquired and held by the
- 3:45yoga force in the mind and body consciousness is in the Super
- 3:49mental inherent and exists not by achievement but by nature.
- 3:56It is self existent and absolute.
