- 0:22[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome in everybody, it is the Mile High Huddle Podcast, the gut reaction to Broncos cults.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_03]: I'm your host Chad Jensen with me, my fellow football priest, you know him, you love him, Zach Kelberman Zach, neither you nor I predicted a cults win in the roundtable this week, however, I've been trying to tell everybody the culture, not a joke, Daniel Jones or something going on there.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_03]: and granted, Zack, it was only one game that I saw going into this, right?
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: But there's just a different energy in a different vibe.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_03]: What's your gut reaction to the Broncos choking away, what should have been a relative, even in the face of all the issues that happened.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_03]: should have been a relatively comfortable win in that fourth quarter gut reaction.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: They snatched victory from the jaws of defeat Chad.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: They took you from the roller coaster of high to the roller coaster of low and that's because here's my hot take.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: Sean Payton got out coached today.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_02]: Vance Joseph got out coached today.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_02]: Shane Steiken from the Colts.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'll raise my hand.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: I underestimated them.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: I underestimated Daniel Jones.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_02]: They are legitimate.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know about championship caliber, but they took the fight to the Broncos today, and they hit the Broncos more in the mouth than I think they were anticipating.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: Once again, Bo started hot, and now it's in reverse.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: Now they're starting hot and kind of fizzling in the second half, but he had a good first half.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: They continue with the passing game in the second half.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: Bo has to turn over, but the coaching on the sideline chat.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: I can't stop hearing it replayed in my head, coaching coaching.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_02]: That is why the Broncos are now one and one.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_03]: Brutal, so many factors that led to this, and people are gonna want to throw bow under the bus and justifyably so, he deserves some criticism for that pick.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_03]: They're gonna want an MF wheel nuts, but really Zach, yeah, William, Oof, thanks, buddy.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_03]: Really, this is a defensive collapse.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_03]: The block of defense could not stop a nose bleed in this game, and look, the cults famously,
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: didn't uh punt last week right they scored on every single position and they scored on whatever it was their first four today before the Broncos finally got them off the field but I digress here the defense not doing its part the brokos had three touchdowns in the first half
- 2:40[SPEAKER_03]: This is the model, offensively, that this whole thing is built around, is get out to, you know, put some points up in the first half and let the defense do it's thing, but the defense didn't do it's things that can will grab tail.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they gave the game away.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_03]: That's exactly bro.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: So many people I'll keep it quick because I know the super is going to be hot and heavy today.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: So many people are looking for one culprit.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: They're making it black and white as it always is Chad, but this is very much a great situation.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's on the defense.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's on the coaching.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's on will, let's for not executing.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's also on Alex Singleton for being exposed as the two down in fear your linebacker that he is.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: There are a lot of hands in the cookie jar today, but I'm going to agree with you.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: If that defense looked anywhere near like they did in the week one, they would have won this game.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: I firmly believe that.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_03]: brutal, brutal loss.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_03]: And this is one of those from a symbolic point of view.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_03]: Duchess, love you.

- 3:32[SPEAKER_03]: Aren't we supposed to have a good defense?

- 3:40[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you're supposed to, if you're a legitimate contender, you're expected to win the games that you're quote unquote, supposed to win last week,
- 3:52[SPEAKER_03]: Having watched this newfangled cult's team, was this a game the Broncos were supposed to win?
- 4:00[SPEAKER_03]: Because I think so, yes, for what it's worth, this is more of like philosophical question here.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_03]: But this cult's team, I'm telling you, if they stay healthy, especially Daniel Jones, they're gonna be a factor in December, and now the Broncos lost that head-to-head tiebreaker if it comes down to wildcard.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they were favored to win this game by Vegas.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: They were favored by the prediction markets, Chad.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: So they should have won.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: And also, when you have a coach, like Sean Payton saying, Bonaix is a top five quarterback and saying, this is a Super Bowl caliber team.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: You have to come out and beat this team.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: You can't choke the game away like they did.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: So again, I see the comments, Bonaix lost the game, this and that.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: He was also a culprit with that pick, but it was everyone.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: It was a collective team meltdown in the second half.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_03]: It was, oh man, and you, so think about this.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_03]: We'll get to the supers here in a second, but you had so many things, so many factors pointing in the direction of a Bronco victory.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_03]: Not only the first half scoring, the Broncos getting bone nicks back on the horse, pardon the pun, you get an opening possession touchdown in the second half, which has been rare.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's a rare occurrence for Sean Payton Coach Broncos team.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_03]: How do you come out as losers in this one?
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: And it really comes down to critical moments, you didn't execute.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_03]: The bonus interception, Zach obviously is gonna is gonna stain, will let's miss in that fill go.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_03]: Then you get to that last, the kicker misses, first of all, do you think that was actually a penalty?
- 5:34[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that was genuine leverage or did the Broncos get screwed?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: I want to go back and rewatch it so much happened in a short period.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: They, well, it's like a tiki-tak kind of bang bang kind of play.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen a lot of defenders do the same thing.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: They don't get called.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen them get called like a Wuzikrike was.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's just one of those things.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: Did you see it?

- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: Can't bring it down to the officiating though, Chad.

- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was one of those, it happened so fast and I'm not as I guess I need to study the letter the law of leverage, et cetera, but that seemed really, I don't know, man, that seemed really ticky-tack.

- 6:09[SPEAKER_03]: saying, let's hear the excuses.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_03]: That's not me trying to make excuses, but it's a genuine questionable thing.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_03]: And even the broadcast team was going, oh,
- 6:19[SPEAKER_03]: There's going to be a lot of focus and talk over that leverage call, but and the refs Zach was kind of funny because our friend Brandon Perna, that's good Broncos.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_03]: He posted this morning on X before the game, you know, a little goofy poll that said who's going to win today?
- 6:35[SPEAKER_03]: Broncos culture the refs.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_03]: And it's kind of a ha ha type of thing, but Zach, I can't think of a game off the top of my head.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: The where the refs in recent history where the refs were as involved in everything that was going on in the outcome of the game as today now that's not me making excuses again Broncos they found ways to lose they snatched to feed from the jaws of victory's act but it was almost like they were trying this this ref unit trying to like Set some kind of a standard for the NFL.

- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, first of all, who are I'll speak for myself, who am I making excuses for?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm quite literally blaming everyone, everyone for the most part except for maybe the ground game was a culprits today in the loss.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: And Chad, you shouldn't have even taken it down to the final couple seconds to that feelable.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: How many times did the defense have a chance to get off the field?
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: They converted that one third down to Alec Pierce, that big pass plate from Daniel Jones.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: It reminds me a lot of the Los Angeles Chargers game from last season, the second game or the Cincinnati game where the offense does did enough but the defense could not get off the field.

- 8:13[SPEAKER_03]: and then he gets Daniel Jones and he has the right quarterback who can execute from the pocket has just enough mobility to be dangerous and bought a being bought a being.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_03]: We can't also Zach, we would be remiss to overlook just how dominant the cults were on the ground today as a rushing offense like Broncos got put in their place defensively and what was it one sack?

- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: They're extremely well coached and they had a game plan they stuck to which they didn't go away and it's amazing what happens when you establish the run.

- 9:19[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, Zach, just one lapse after another, and you would think that it was the opposite, that it was a cult's playoff team, and a Broncos team kind of trying to rebound and become a thing, because the cult's played much more poised in the critical moments down the stretch than the Broncos did.

- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, again, they're doing something magical out there with Daniel Jones keeping him clean Chad putting him in a different system and he's thriving and again, a boils down to the coaching.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: And let's just be honest to Jonathan Taylor, those coach, Colts players, they get paid to.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: They also look tremendous last season against the Broncos in Chad.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: You could argue if it wasn't for that tail or fumble at the goal line, they wouldn't be to men back then.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_03]: And you could see that Taylor, I mean, Taylor's a great player, right?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_03]: We don't need to try and make exceptions for why he was good on a given day.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think he was maybe a little bit extra motivated today to kind of make up for that massive snap food last year.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: So Taylor had the personal revenge angle plus the cults.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that lost to the Broncos down the stretch last year, disqualified him from the playoffs, essentially.

- 14:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you didn't see a lot from them, although Baron Zach had a pass break up.

- 14:44[SPEAKER_03]: This was a grinded out with JK Dobbins, pardon me, game 14 for 76, and his average Dobbins of 5.4 looks really nice because he had that
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: decent run to open things up and that kind of bottom a little bit of breathing room as his his average just declined throughout the game.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_03]: But for what it's worth, Pat Bryant caught his first pass of his career.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: He finished two of catches 18 yards today's act.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_03]: And then the Broncos chose not to dress
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: or englofflin who i'm really i'm really wanting him to get on the field as the third running back uh yeah i don't know the chat as well as dobin's played i don't know any scenario where uh harvey should only get five carries i still think the uh that the ratio is off there was Sean paid none offense

- 17:10[SPEAKER_03]: But he did, Bonyx completed a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 different receivers today.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's the problem with having a spread the well offence or having too many weapons for a quarterback to throw to because last week, Sutton was the only receiver that Bonax was connecting with and now he was an afterthought.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: I like that Evan Ingram kind of got involved, but it's still very much a work in progress with the passing game.

- 17:37[SPEAKER_03]: He says, I don't believe in this team, not been excited for this season.

- 17:48[SPEAKER_03]: I agree with one thing you said, brother, and that is, I do think this team has been a bit overhyped.
