  Speaker 1: Today we're going to talk about powerless prayers. Sounds it

  Speaker 1: sounds weird to me because I'm like, our prayers have power, Amen,

  Speaker 1: especially when we're aligned with the heart of God. When

  Speaker 1: our hearts are aligned with God's heart, our prayers go
• 1:27
  Speaker 1: out powerfully.

  Speaker 2: But there are powerless prayers and men. Last time we

  Speaker 2: spoke about.

  Speaker 1: Prayers that are full of selfishness, right self gain. They're
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: not honest prayers, their repetition and all that other stuff. Amen,

  Speaker 1: we rebuke that in the name of Jesus. We don't

  Speaker 1: want to pray that way. We want a powerful prayer life.

  Speaker 1: We don't want a powerless prayer Amen, to be over.

  Speaker 1: So we know that there's prayers that reach God and

  Speaker 1: there's prayers that just hit up thee because you're not

  Speaker 1: aligned with the Word and you're not doing it correctly.

  Speaker 1: we don't have to worry about praying to a God

  Speaker 1: who doesn't respond. We pray to a God who responds

  Speaker 1: memorized or maybe their tradition or whatever the case may be.

  Speaker 2: Amen. But other than that, repetition is not going to

  Speaker 2: impress God. You know what impresses God.

  Speaker 1: I believe through the scripture, how I see what impressed God?

  Speaker 1: Our faith Jesus would see a leader or a centurion

  Speaker 1: and say, Amen, you have great faith, and he recognizes
• 3:47
  Speaker 1: our faith.

  Speaker 2: Amen.

  Speaker 1: So how much more does he recognize our faith when

  Speaker 1: we're praying, when we're speaking to him, and when we

  Speaker 1: going to him with his sincere heart.

  Speaker 1: But repetition, flowery words and all that doesn't press God.

  Speaker 1: That's why some of our prayers go on answers, because

  Speaker 1: we're asking God for something with wrong motives in our heart.

  Speaker 1: Sometimes I'd be like, well, how come God's answer my prayers? Well,

  Speaker 1: check your motives before you pray, Amen. When you go

  Speaker 1: to a heavenly father, your heavenly Father, my heavenly Father,

  Speaker 1: check your motives, check your heart.

  Speaker 1: No, you don't have to have a perfect prayer, but

  Speaker 1: you need to come to God honestly the man. He

  Speaker 1: already knows or we're to ask, and he knows our hearts.

  Speaker 1: I used to hang out and eventually live on. One

  Speaker 1: of the brother's mom passed went to be with the Lord.

  Speaker 1: Lord God for peace over my friend in New York

  Speaker 1: his mom passed. Pray for peace and comfort over his family.

  Speaker 1: I notice never easy when you lose a loved one. Lord,

  Speaker 1: So I pray the comfort and peace that you give

  Speaker 1: to every single person who loses a loved one, that

  Speaker 1: you will grant that same peace and comfort to my

  Speaker 1: friends in New York. I pray Lord God, peace over myself,

  Speaker 1: Pray health, strength, protection, Pray the power of prayer that

  Speaker 1: will go uncontested and unresistant, and these prayers will reach

  Speaker 1: that try to distract, that try to take us out

  Speaker 2: Purpose and our plan. I come against those things in

  Speaker 1: And I pray, Lord God, that you will continue to

  Speaker 1: teach us by way of your holy Spirit, of how

  Speaker 1: to pray and how to know that your word is

  Speaker 1: faithful to perform what you set your words to perform.

  Speaker 1: Thank you, Lord God for encouraging us daily from waking

  Speaker 1: hisself for giving us breath. And I pray all this

  Speaker 1: by faith, knowing that you hear his praise and he

  Speaker 1: answer them accordingly to every single individual, in every single

  Speaker 1: individual situation. In Jesus Holy Name, my prayer is by faith,

  Speaker 2: Man Well says, our prayers sometimes don't match God's will. Amen.

  Speaker 1: And sometimes we're like in desperation, we'll pray some prayers

  Speaker 1: that we know that only God could achieve the things

  Speaker 1: that we're asking for. But then our motives are not right,

  Speaker 1: it's not lined up with the plan of God over
• 10:04
  Speaker 1: our lives.

  Speaker 1: So we're children of God, right, So we might ask
• 10:09
  Speaker 1: our Father for things that he knows that won't benefit us,
• 10:12
  Speaker 1: that won't really do any good, it will do harm.

  Speaker 2: So he'll sometimes answer us and the answer is no.

  Speaker 2: And we don't like that. Amen.

  Speaker 1: We want our will to be done sometimes over God's will.

  Speaker 1: But when we relax, when we calm down, when we

  Speaker 1: take a deep breath, and we understand that God wants

  Speaker 1: the very best for us, then we start realizing, Listen,

  Speaker 1: it's not all about what I want, It's about what
• 10:37
  Speaker 1: I need.

  Speaker 2: And God sees.

  Speaker 1: Our needs and provides for every single one of those needs.

  Speaker 1: God is good, he's faithful, and he knows what we

  Speaker 1: don't know. And God is sovereign, he's omnipresent, he's all

  Speaker 1: knowing God who knows, not just I don't know why

  Speaker 1: I said. Yes, he's awesome in all his ways, Amen,

  Speaker 1: awesome in all his ways, So he knows what's best

  Speaker 1: for us. So powerless prayers are powerless because they're not

  Speaker 2: Will and purpose of our lives.

  Speaker 1: Some people praise some weird prayers that are not even godly.

  Speaker 1: They're just right out self righteous. They're right out selfish.

  Speaker 1: They're right out just asking Him for things that they
• 11:19
  Speaker 1: want for their own gain, personal gain, that it's not
• 11:23
  Speaker 1: even fruitful sometimes some of the prayers that maybe I
• 11:26
  Speaker 1: pray sometimes as well. So I don't want my prayers
• 11:29
  Speaker 1: to be powerless. You don't want your praier to be powerless.

  Speaker 1: You want powerful prayers. But let's talk about powerless prayers.

  Speaker 1: Let's see what Jesus said about prayers that just don't

  Speaker 1: they don't go Amen, And He's not going to respond

  Speaker 1: to those type of prayers. And if he does respond,
• 11:45
  Speaker 1: it's going to be a no, a no. Right, he
• 11:49
  Speaker 1: who comes to God must do so in spirit.

  Speaker 2: And in truth.

  Speaker 1: Yes, with spirit, God is the truth, Amen. And Holy

  Speaker 1: Spirit is in us. He's the truth.

  Speaker 2: So when we go to God, let's go to God

  Speaker 1: And if you're born again, you have the inheritance of

  Speaker 1: don't be afraid. We're approaching a God who loves us,

  Speaker 1: The Bible says, So we are who God says we are. Right,

  Speaker 1: We could go to him trusting him. I'm looking for

  Speaker 1: that means you just did a powerless prayer. You did

  Speaker 1: a prayer that's not in the will of God for

  Speaker 1: When you go to God with an empty plate, He'll

  Speaker 1: fill your plate. Amen, when the will of God is

  Speaker 1: being presented to your life. This is what Jesus says

  Speaker 1: in Matthew chapter six, verses five to seven. Jesus said, Also,

  Speaker 1: when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites,

  Speaker 1: the play actors, the people who are just staged. They
• 13:29
  Speaker 1: know what to say, they know how to say it.

  Speaker 1: But the hypocrites, Jesus said, for they love to pray

  Speaker 1: standing in the synagogues or in the church that we
• 13:40
  Speaker 1: would call the church, and on the corners of the streets,

  Speaker 1: that they may be what seen by people. Truly, I
• 13:49
  Speaker 1: tell you they have their reward in full already, these

  Speaker 1: people praying in the streets. And there's a group of

  Speaker 1: people out there even to today that they dress up

  Speaker 1: in garments that look like they're trying to look righteous,

  Speaker 1: and they're going into the streets and yelling at people

  Speaker 1: as they pass by. And they think that they're doing

  Speaker 1: the will of God by doing that. Well, Jesus calls
• 14:16
  Speaker 1: those type of people hypocrites, play actors. They have their
• 14:19
  Speaker 1: reward in full already Verse number six. But when you pray,
• 14:24
  Speaker 1: go into your most private room and closing the door,
• 14:28
  Speaker 1: pray to your father. Your father who is in secret,
• 14:34
  Speaker 1: and your father, who sees in secret, will reward you
• 14:39
  Speaker 1: in the open. So what we do with God in

  Speaker 1: the secret place, he will reward us publicly. Amen, at

  Speaker 1: the right time, at the right time. Very important to

  Speaker 1: know that God is not a genie in a bottle. God,

  Speaker 1: I need this, and you rub the bottle and then presto,

  Speaker 1: He says, Your wish is my command. That's not the

  Speaker 1: God that we serve. God that we serve wants us

  Speaker 1: to know that what we do in private with him

  Speaker 1: pray to your father, speak to him.

  Speaker 2: Amen. And then your father, who.

  Speaker 1: Sees in secret, he sees you, he hears you, will

  Speaker 1: reward you in the open.

  Speaker 2: In other words, will reward you publicly. Verse seven.

  Speaker 1: And when you pray, do not heap up phrases, multiply words,

  Speaker 1: repeating the same ones over and over, as the gentiles do,

  Speaker 1: for they think they will be heard for their much speaking.

  Speaker 1: In other words, the children of Israel shouldn't be praying

  Speaker 1: like the gentiles that don't know the true God, the

  Speaker 1: idle worshippers. Right now, we're grafted in. So we adopted

  Speaker 1: into this word right here. We're adopted into the family God,
• 15:59
  Speaker 1: God children, because God gives us the right to becalled

  Speaker 1: children of God.

  Speaker 2: So we're not gentiles either. Amen. We are part of

  Speaker 2: God's family, his holy priesthood. Were a priesthood.

  Speaker 1: Because when we go around with these words and I'm

  Speaker 1: trying to fill up space with our time and our words,

  Speaker 1: God's not impressed with that. As a matter of fact,

  Speaker 1: he says, don't do that. Do not heap up phrases,

  Speaker 1: He says, as the gentiles do because they think.

  Speaker 2: They're going to be heard for their much speaking.

  Speaker 1: The Bible actually says the more words we speak, the
• 16:35
  Speaker 1: more liable we are to sin. So be careful with
• 16:38
  Speaker 1: those long prayers, Amen. Just let Holy Spirit speak through you.

  Speaker 1: Holy Spirit knows the best way to pray, because he's God.

  Speaker 2: Amen. So I try not to over complicate my prayers. Amen.

  Speaker 1: I'm speaking to the Lord and allowing others sometimes as

  Speaker 1: if it's in public or like a prayer circle. All

  Speaker 1: I'm doing is allowing others to hear my conversation with God.

  Speaker 1: It's not like trying to force something, and you shouldn't

  Speaker 1: try to force anything either. We have a personal relationship

  Speaker 1: with our Father in heaven. His name is hollowed, right,

  Speaker 1: He's holy, hollowed be thy name. So the concept of
• 17:20
  Speaker 1: a powerless prayer, right, it's not really the focus in
• 17:29
  Speaker 1: the scriptures. Jesus spoke about it because he saw people
• 17:31
  Speaker 1: doing it and he's got the God man and he
• 17:35
  Speaker 1: wanted to address it. He put it on that road,
• 17:37
  Speaker 1: thinking that, oh, this is the way to do it.

  Speaker 1: He doesn't want people to go down that road, so

  Speaker 1: he said something about it. And when God speaks, we
• 17:45
  Speaker 1: should listen because God's word never returns to him vod.

  Speaker 1: And when Jesus spoke, he was the living He is

  Speaker 1: the living word of God speaking Amen. That's why when

  Speaker 1: people say God to speak, the more, I don't know

  Speaker 1: what about when they're reading Amen, God speaks, He responds,

  Speaker 2: Holy Spirit is inside of us. We have perfect union

  Speaker 2: he spoke to us yesterday. He'll speak to us tomorrow.

  Speaker 1: Woman, we have tomorrow, and for all eternity, he will

  Speaker 1: be speaking to us when we get to heaven. So

  Speaker 1: there's a caution that Jesus wants us to be cautious about.

  Speaker 1: The question is against praying with empty repetition or just

  Speaker 1: to be seen in the public square praying acting like
• 18:43
  Speaker 1: let me pray, so shout out to all the street preachers.

  Speaker 1: I don't think that's what God is talking about here.

  Speaker 1: I don't think that's what the Lord's talking about. I

  Speaker 1: don't think he's talking about street preachers that are out
• 18:52
  Speaker 1: in the streets preaching the gods. But I think he's
