- 0:00Speaker 1: How are you feeling we sold out the more theater
- 0:03Speaker 1: in Seattle. How are you feeling like, shit got real?
- 0:05Speaker 1: We're doing a live show for a lot of people.
- 0:08Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 0:10Speaker 1: It's a lot of people, dude. I went to a
- 0:14Speaker 1: show that had about two thousand people a concert and
- 0:17Speaker 1: I was like, holy shit, this is a lot of people. Yeah,
- 0:20Speaker 1: it's gonna be awesome. Now I'm nervous, I'm excited.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Get me wrong to talk about.
- 0:28Speaker 3: That would never happen.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I think that's gonna happen.
- 0:32Speaker 4: You know.
- 0:32Speaker 1: The only thing I was obsessing about is like, all right,
- 0:35Speaker 1: so cause I'm just now I'm the second is sold out.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I got anxious. I was like, oh shit, like we
- 0:40Speaker 1: got to be we gotta put on a real show.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And I know we're gonna put on a great show.
- 0:43Speaker 1: But my brain went to, like, all right, so you
- 0:46Speaker 1: come out right, they're super stoked, they're clapping, We come out,
- 0:49Speaker 1: we're all super stoked, and then it's amazing, right, But
- 0:52Speaker 1: then like it feels like you would then the expectation
- 0:55Speaker 1: you go into some sort of like comedy routine or
- 0:58Speaker 1: like a stand up and like we're gonna sit down
- 1:00Speaker 1: and talk about rewatching a TV show. I know a
- 1:03Speaker 1: lot of people do podcasts like live shows, but I
- 1:06Speaker 1: just hope that the audience like adjust to like we're
- 1:10Speaker 1: not gonna like strut around doing stand up like Eddie
- 1:13Speaker 1: Murphy and Delirious Now and mc.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Donald's gonna pop up at some point and do either
- 1:18Speaker 3: a very dope dance.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And to dance to please the crowd.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I ain't no monkey man, what the doing? No people dance?
- 1:28Speaker 2: Monkey dance, man?
- 1:29Speaker 1: People love it when you dance. You did dance a
- 1:34Speaker 1: family food.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Performed a very dope dance for the audience and everyone
- 1:38Speaker 2: was super entertained. I loved you for it. It was amazing.
- 1:41Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Don all I hear is oh my god, dance, monkey dance.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Well, I'm sorry. I don't want you to feel that way,
- 1:54Speaker 1: but people do love it when you dance. But you
- 1:58Speaker 1: guys know what I'm saying right like, like we we
- 2:01Speaker 1: we have to like elegantly shift from like you're so
- 2:05Speaker 1: psyched to be here, We're so psyche to be here.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Now we're going to sun couches and talk about a
- 2:10Speaker 1: TV show like we're not like doing stand up, you
- 2:12Speaker 1: know what I mean? Or am I just being like
- 2:14Speaker 1: overthinking it.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I think you might be overthinking it.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I think everybody you and I have done Q and
- 2:18Speaker 1: a's before that like that have been gone awesome and great.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It's just I think that's what everybody thinks they're coming
- 2:23Speaker 2: to see.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Well, they are going to maybe see some of that.
- 2:26Speaker 2: There might be a little conversation between us and the audience, right.
- 2:29Speaker 1: What was like, No, well, of course, yeah, yeah, Daniel's
- 2:33Speaker 1: going to be Phil Donahue and run into the audience
- 2:35Speaker 1: with the mic, Right, Daniel, that's one of your responsibilities. Yes, sir,
- 2:39Speaker 1: be out there with the little sneakers on. Daniel, maybe
- 2:42Speaker 1: you should dress like Phil Donahoe.
- 2:44Speaker 2: When you got off the call yesterday, I was saying,
- 2:46Speaker 2: maybe Daniel could be, you know, rock the crowd, like
- 2:50Speaker 2: before the show starts, to be on the turntables.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Oh, that's not a bad idea, a little start. Oh
- 2:58Speaker 1: would you be able to earn like Donald Donald's showing
- 3:01Speaker 1: how the DJs turn around?
- 3:03Speaker 2: Like how did you can?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Of course? When you DJ, Daniel, do you do you?
- 3:09Speaker 1: Are you one of those people that actually uses the
- 3:12Speaker 1: fake turntables?
- 3:14Speaker 5: I certainly can. Yeah, I mean, you know, these days
- 3:16Speaker 5: you got techniques. I don't personally own techniques. But I
- 3:20Speaker 5: used to teach people on techniques, So yes, I am
- 3:23Speaker 5: a capable vinyl turntablist.
- 3:25Speaker 2: That's what. That's what, that's what matters. All of that
- 3:28Speaker 2: button button pressing is kind of cool. If you got
- 3:31Speaker 2: the rhythm and stuff like that. The computer does most
- 3:34Speaker 2: of it for you. But if you got skills to
- 3:38Speaker 2: rocket on techniques, if you can dj jazzy Jeff that shit,
- 3:42Speaker 2: you are fire for real with the turntables. I believe
- 3:46Speaker 2: Danil knows how to DJ jazzy Jeff that ship. He's
- 3:49Speaker 2: old school. He might look like a little baby. Just
- 3:52Speaker 2: because he doesn't know what a flopping disc is doesn't
- 3:55Speaker 2: mean he doesn't know how to rocket all.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Kind of music. Would you DJ for alls while they're
- 4:00Speaker 1: coming in? Now, that's not a bad idea. I think
- 4:03Speaker 1: you're something kind of like low key but still exciting,
- 4:06Speaker 1: something like the kind of like not m that'd be.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Hilarious if everybody walked into straights.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I don't want, but definitely some uh yeah, but definitely
- 4:23Speaker 1: some like nice cool beats that people could sit down
- 4:26Speaker 1: and enjoy too. Maybe some head bobbing music. Yeah, what
- 4:29Speaker 1: if people were like.
- 4:30Speaker 2: In the days on the Boulevard of Landen. We used
- 4:33Speaker 2: to get routines and the presence was fitting. It was
- 4:36Speaker 2: a good idea, abstracted me the five foot I kicked
- 4:40Speaker 2: the mad style, so step off the frank foot.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I think it's a good idea, Dane. Would you be
- 4:45Speaker 1: open to doing that?
- 4:46Speaker 5: Of course absolutely. I already got a contact in Seattle
- 4:49Speaker 5: for some decks, so oh you gotta worry, all right,
- 4:52Speaker 5: So then you could set up the DJ table. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:57Speaker 5: I mean it would be a little you know, it depends.
- 5:00Speaker 5: We could talk about this later, but like, depending on
- 5:02Speaker 5: how much in front of the crowd you want me
- 5:03Speaker 5: to be. Maybe I'm off to the side so that
- 5:05Speaker 5: people don't see me necessarily, so it doesn't like break
- 5:07Speaker 5: the immersion of Oh wait, that's DJ, Dan.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I want you to be DJ. I think I want
- 5:12Speaker 2: you to be like straight up marshmallow man, what name is?
- 5:16Speaker 2: When you are rocking the crowd and they're just standing
- 5:18Speaker 2: there with their phone like that shit is hilarious to me.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I love standing bout of DJ and watching, but that
- 5:23Speaker 2: ship is crazy to me that people just show up
- 5:26Speaker 2: to watch a DJ press buttons. It kills me, dude,
- 5:31Speaker 2: It kills me, dude.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Those guys are the richest guys in music.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I need to get on y'all need to teach me
- 5:40Speaker 2: how to press that button properly so that I could
- 5:43Speaker 2: be like these cats make is like for real, man.
- 5:47Speaker 1: What's to stop someone Daniel from just doing it all
- 5:49Speaker 1: on their laptop and doing it all for show and
- 5:52Speaker 1: hitting play?
- 5:53Speaker 5: Uh it, nothing stops them. And there's lots of very
- 5:56Speaker 5: popular DJs who already do it. Really, we're not going
- 5:58Speaker 5: to name it.
- 5:59Speaker 2: That ship already happening.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah. My question is this, these guys who are making
- 6:03Speaker 1: a zillion dollars doing like Vegas or whatever, you know,
- 6:06Speaker 1: and flying in private jets. Sure are they Are they
- 6:09Speaker 1: actually doing it live or or I know you can't
- 6:12Speaker 1: speak for all of them, but are some of them
- 6:13Speaker 1: just like hitting play on a fucking program? They are
- 6:17Speaker 1: hundred percent.
- 6:17Speaker 5: What they'll have is like imagine like a whole set
- 6:19Speaker 5: and mixed onto an MP three and you go up
- 6:21Speaker 5: to the CDJ, you just go bomb and then you know,
- 6:24Speaker 5: you do the couple hand things every once in a while.
- 6:26Speaker 2: But and it's all acting all acting like a thing
- 6:30Speaker 2: that ship in the snow. They're like, yo, you know
- 6:33Speaker 2: what I went and saw I could say Gangstar. I
- 6:37Speaker 2: went and saw Gangstar perform DJ Premiere and Guru back
- 6:40Speaker 2: in the day when I was younger, right, They performed
- 6:43Speaker 2: at some spot in New York City, and Premiere is
- 6:47Speaker 2: the best DJ I've ever seen in him and freaking
- 6:49Speaker 2: Jazzy Jeff for the two best hit that is a
- 6:52Speaker 2: spiked her excuse me sorry. Him and DJ Jazzy Jeff
- 6:57Speaker 2: are two of the best DJs I have ever seen
- 6:59Speaker 2: in my Like, Premiere is not doing the press the
- 7:04Speaker 2: tape and just scratching over the track. He's doing everything
- 7:09Speaker 2: that you heard on the record. He's doing it live,
- 7:12Speaker 2: so the he's actually putting it in. He's taking the
- 7:16Speaker 2: record off, putting the other beat on while while while
- 7:19Speaker 2: Guru's on stage rapping. It was one of the dopest
- 7:22Speaker 2: nights of my life. I was like, you know, and
- 7:24Speaker 2: Guru is a dope rapper. When you go rest in Peace,
- 7:28Speaker 2: you know he was a dope rapper. But Premiere, holy
- 7:32Speaker 2: cow man, that's one of the best, like holy like
- 7:36Speaker 2: by far one of my best experiences. And then also
- 7:39Speaker 2: like you want to talk about DJs, that's the DJ
- 7:43Speaker 2: dude him and Jazzy Jeff. You want to watch Jazzy
- 7:45Speaker 2: Jeff right now, just look him up on YouTube right now.
- 7:47Speaker 2: And also you want to talk about one more DJ,
- 7:49Speaker 2: let's talk about DJ Daniel, who will be doing it
- 7:52Speaker 2: at the more.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You won't be doing You won't be doing the fake
- 7:56Speaker 1: thing though, where you just hit play and pushing the
- 7:58Speaker 1: buttons right, never have, never will. I don't want our
- 8:01Speaker 1: audience to think that you are up there just pushing buttons,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I mean, just faking it.
- 8:07Speaker 5: Sure, there will be there will be no faking it,
- 8:09Speaker 5: absolutely not, never have never will?
- 8:11Speaker 2: You heard that?
- 8:12Speaker 1: I think Donald and I should enter? Can you time
- 8:14Speaker 1: it out so that Donald and I entered to P?
- 8:18Speaker 1: I M P.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Maybe? But do you want do you want to? Yeah?
- 8:25Speaker 2: Do you want to enter to?
- 8:27Speaker 1: I want to enter?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Hold on, let me finish. Do you want to enter
- 8:29Speaker 2: to the Snoop Dogg version or just the.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Dunt I don't know what you heard about me look
- 8:42Speaker 1: at a lackno birde and now my motherfucking p I.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Can we enter it to that? Donald? You're okay with that?
- 8:50Speaker 2: Do you? Do? You turn your key turned?
- 8:57Speaker 1: Now? Listen if Joe, if Daniel's on STAF you want that.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Ship to start off with do do do do do
- 9:02Speaker 2: do do Do do do do do do?
- 9:05Speaker 1: I got it? Don't Daniel, make sure you have that
- 9:10Speaker 1: on your decks because we're gonna need to enter that
- 9:13Speaker 1: No problem, all right? I like that plan is coming together.
- 9:16Speaker 1: So Daniel, you'll DJ while the audience comes in? Sure? Now,
- 9:19Speaker 1: are you gonna be distracted? If people are like d
- 9:21Speaker 1: d Daniel? What's up?
- 9:22Speaker 2: Can I take a picture with you?
- 9:24Speaker 1: Can I take a selfie with you?
- 9:26Speaker 2: From this? From here?
- 9:27Speaker 5: I was gonna say, lest we forget that. That was
- 9:29Speaker 5: my job for ten years before all of this. So
- 9:31Speaker 5: I think I'll be okay, you got this.
- 9:33Speaker 1: What if people are like Daniel's show us your jets.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I mean, if they're throwing dollars, we should get a
- 9:40Speaker 1: banner for Dan switch.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Can we throw a twitch banner up? Or is that against?
- 9:44Speaker 1: You want to tip jar?
- 9:45Speaker 2: Daniel?
- 9:45Speaker 1: We can have a tip jar?
- 9:48Speaker 2: Remember that show It's a living and the guy with
- 9:50Speaker 2: the piano at the bar, that could be you, Daniel,
- 9:54Speaker 2: that's me, But you're a DJ. No tips.
- 9:57Speaker 1: We don't want him to get a tip jar and
- 9:58Speaker 1: no no twitch signage. He's a DJ for the show.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I'll just be up there by myself with this. Will
- 10:03Speaker 1: you wear a marshmallow head. No marshmallow head, But well,
- 10:09Speaker 1: will you wear a funny outfit like like, well.
- 10:12Speaker 2: You wear like a gold suit gold? Now?
- 10:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I have like a fake Gucci jacket from the eighties,
- 10:18Speaker 5: no matter that do that shit.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Or any kind of onesie I feel I picture you
- 10:22Speaker 1: like in a onesie. Oh wait, he's going to get
- 10:24Speaker 1: the jacket.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Do do do? Do do?
- 10:29Speaker 1: Sorry, audience, that's coming.
- 10:30Speaker 2: You heard that's a spoiler. Got this.
- 10:33Speaker 1: It's like a fake Gucci Starlar jacket that I got
- 10:35Speaker 1: in a flea market.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Wow, amazing.
- 10:38Speaker 5: It's I mean, like you know, it's obviously not real,
- 10:40Speaker 5: but it is very It is very bold, and I
- 10:43Speaker 5: to keep a little under bag on it so the
- 10:44Speaker 5: moths don't get to it.
- 10:45Speaker 1: It might it might be real, Daniel. You don't know
- 10:46Speaker 1: if that's fake. You're right, I don't know.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Neither did the person at the flea market who sold
- 10:51Speaker 5: it to me for twenty dollars.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Well, now I'm excited, all right, So we got that covered.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Audience in Seattle, you're in for a treat. You're gonna
- 10:58Speaker 1: see DG. Daniel do his thing. And I'm sorry it's
- 11:03Speaker 1: a spoiler, but we're going to enter to the I
- 11:06Speaker 1: m P.
- 11:08Speaker 2: We might switch it up.
- 11:10Speaker 1: No, I love it.
- 11:11Speaker 2: We can't I jam that's your jam. Jam.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Well we can if we do more shows, we can.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But can we agree that for Seattle we're going to
- 11:20Speaker 1: enter to that.
- 11:21Speaker 2: He has already been turned bro. I just feel like.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I just feel like I just feel like we both
- 11:27Speaker 1: would feel nice entering to that. There's lots of secrets
- 11:31Speaker 1: that are happening, and we're gonna make it fun. There's
- 11:33Speaker 1: lots of secrets that are.
- 11:34Speaker 2: All the spoiler uh channels out there to try and
- 11:39Speaker 2: spoil our show.
- 11:41Speaker 1: No, don't spoil our show. Just try try and figure
- 11:46Speaker 1: Daniel and Joelle. Have you done a live podcast show before.
- 11:51Speaker 3: H in.
- 11:53Speaker 1: On stage at the studio? No? No, But I've.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Helped produce and oversee the production of one. Are you
- 12:00Speaker 2: gonna rock some Fly? Everybody gonna rock fly snakers for this?
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yeah? I got a dope sneaker.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Right, everybody got your sneak a game ready for this?
- 12:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm deciding. I'm deciding which ones now? Okay, now,
- 12:12Speaker 1: now people are going to film? What if people is
- 12:15Speaker 1: like the custom just like a concert that they're going
- 12:17Speaker 1: to video the whole thing. Should we be expecting that?
- 12:20Speaker 1: I think so.
- 12:21Speaker 5: I think people making things like TikTok and Instagram content
- 12:25Speaker 5: should be expected.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Right Because I went to see a concert, the same
- 12:28Speaker 1: concert with the two thousand people, and I would say
- 12:30Speaker 1: like forty percent of the audience had their phones up
- 12:33Speaker 1: the whole time.
- 12:34Speaker 5: I don't think I need to worry about that, but
- 12:36Speaker 5: there will be people who, like I think, when certain
- 12:39Speaker 5: things happen, don you got to use phones?
- 12:41Speaker 1: Because we can't. We can't say Dan cut that.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Oh, I know, I'm well aware, I'm well aware.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I'm well okay, Daniel, will you make one of my
- 12:50Speaker 1: buttons on these things? Me saying Daniel cut that. Yes,
- 12:55Speaker 1: Dan't cut that, Daniel cut. I'm laying down some tracks
- 12:58Speaker 1: for you right now. Dan cut that. So audience, For
- 13:01Speaker 1: those of you who don't know, we often, very often
- 13:03Speaker 1: Donald and I say to each other or to Daniel,
- 13:05Speaker 1: Daniel cut that, because because one of us has said
- 13:09Speaker 1: something that's probably not great to be.
- 13:13Speaker 2: All you got to do is just look at Joel's face,
- 13:15Speaker 2: and Joel Joel's face.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Is like, yeah, that's the Dane cut that face. Now, Donald,
- 13:22Speaker 1: will you be high as a kite, during the live show.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Not about not as a kite. Maybe they had a right.
- 13:29Speaker 1: They have.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Light when you send the flying up there.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Donald, do you have any concern about being too high
- 13:44Speaker 1: for the live show? You know, like when you're smoking,
- 13:48Speaker 1: will you be modulating? Will you be going hmmm, it
- 13:51Speaker 1: is a live show. Maybe I'm good for now.
- 13:55Speaker 2: You know. I think I've reached my limit. I don't
- 13:57Speaker 2: think i can get much higher.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Girl.
- 13:59Speaker 1: We couldn't get much higher so much like Morrison, So
- 14:05Speaker 1: you couldn't get like I.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Could smoke it like it's cigarettes now, like it's like,
- 14:09Speaker 2: you know, I think it's an oral fixation. Now it's
- 14:11Speaker 2: not necessarily a it's not necessarily I enjoy the feeling
- 14:16Speaker 2: of marijuana. I think I like the feeling of smoke
- 14:20Speaker 2: hitting my lungs. I think that's what I like. Now,
- 14:23Speaker 2: you know what I mean? It's crazy, man, It's crazy
- 14:26Speaker 2: how because then after because when you know it's crazy?
- 14:30Speaker 2: The the the thoughts of a stoner are I mean,
- 14:36Speaker 2: they make movies about it.
- 14:38Speaker 1: They do. It's a very common joke, a stoner and
- 14:42Speaker 1: his thinking process.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Yeah, very unique.
- 14:49Speaker 1: All right, Well, we have a very exciting guest for
- 14:51Speaker 1: this episode. It worked out so that we could get
- 14:54Speaker 1: Kate magoucci. That's how you say it, rightchi Man, I
- 14:58Speaker 1: think it's magucci mccouchie. I think it's with a C,
- 15:02Speaker 1: isn't Isn't it Kate McCabe. Her nickname was Gooch, so
- 15:05Speaker 1: I always thought it was Magucci.
- 15:08Speaker 2: No, never gonna have a character on the show. I
- 15:10Speaker 2: thought we're.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Gonna ask her. You think it's mccouchie Dale, Yes, all right,
- 15:15Speaker 1: we're gonna ask her. She played the Gooch on the show,
- 15:19Speaker 1: as you all know, and she I think this is
- 15:22Speaker 1: her first episode. Am I right, Joelle?
- 15:24Speaker 2: This is her first episode? Yes, she's actually not only
- 15:28Speaker 2: is she amazing ukulele player, she's a very good actress
- 15:31Speaker 2: and a very funny actress. She did a movie a
- 15:34Speaker 2: long time ago, well not a long time ago, I could,
- 15:37Speaker 2: I guess right around Pandemic her Aubrey Plaza and Dave
- 15:43Speaker 2: Franco and Alison Bray like they've they've made this movie
- 15:48Speaker 2: and it's pretty funny, and she's in it, and she's
- 15:50Speaker 2: very funny in it. She's very talented. So I'm really
- 15:54Speaker 2: excited that she's on the show.
- 15:55Speaker 1: All right, Should we count in and invite her in
- 15:57Speaker 1: for the whole show.
- 16:00Speaker 4: St stories. I'm not sure we made about a bunch
- 16:05Speaker 4: of talks and nurses, he.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Said, he's the stories nets.
- 16:12Speaker 4: No, so YadA, rab here, YadA, rad here.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Hellolo.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, how are you?
- 16:32Speaker 3: I'm good. How are you doing?
- 16:33Speaker 1: We're so happy you're here.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, me too. I was like looking forward
- 16:37Speaker 3: to this so much, and even when I just saw
- 16:39Speaker 3: you know, when you originally started this, I was like, oh,
- 16:41Speaker 3: I hope I get to do it when they get
- 16:42Speaker 3: to my episode. So thank you.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Oh you're so sweet. We were just talking about how
- 16:45Speaker 1: talented you were before we invited you onto the program.
- 16:48Speaker 2: What was that movie that you did with with Alison
- 16:52Speaker 2: Brie and Dave Franco and Aubrey.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Plaza, The Little Hours.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that ship was funny as hell. Man, you guys
- 16:58Speaker 2: were crazy in that movie.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Yes, I'm super crazy, all of us. That was such
- 17:04Speaker 3: a fun thank you, thank you. Yeah, that was such
- 17:08Speaker 3: a fun, crazy movie.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Go ahead. I'm just surprised Donald watched the movie that
- 17:11Speaker 1: wasn't about Star Wars.
- 17:12Speaker 3: So Zach congrat's on your movie. Oh my god, God,
- 17:17Speaker 3: just tear my heart out. And I love trains too.
- 17:19Speaker 3: I was like oh, I love trains, And then I
- 17:21Speaker 3: was like, if you.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Like trains and having your heart broken? Yes, Chris, Wait, Kate,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I want to make sure i'm pronouncing You're right. Will
- 17:30Speaker 1: you pronounced your last name for us?
- 17:32Speaker 3: Mccuchi? I always say, Yeahci.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It's funny because I've made up in my head that
- 17:37Speaker 1: it was maguci, which I know the spelling doesn't match up,
- 17:40Speaker 1: but I think that's just because we called you the
- 17:41Speaker 1: gucha on Scrubs.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Yes, that would, I mean it makes sense real.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Quick, ladies and gentlemen, okay, Gucci.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Yes, Mkuchi, Yes, macuchie, thank you.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I think I just had a brain fart because we
- 17:59Speaker 1: called you the gooch. I was like, I know it's
- 18:00Speaker 1: this is spelled with the sea, but maybe bizarrely or
- 18:03Speaker 1: someone calls it macgucci, but that is not correct. It's mccucci.
- 18:06Speaker 3: It is mkuchie. In fact, I was, I was in
- 18:08Speaker 3: New York like a month ago. Oh are we is
- 18:11Speaker 3: this like officially are we recording or want.
- 18:14Speaker 1: To make sure? Okay you are recording right?
- 18:15Speaker 3: Okay? Yea, I am on my end. I hope it's
- 18:18Speaker 3: I hope the levels are good. I think they are.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I think you can go a.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Little a little louder, a little bit louder for just
- 18:24Speaker 1: for me, not for you, maybe only only if it
- 18:26Speaker 1: looks good on your side, and it's not.
- 18:28Speaker 3: It's still yeah, it's not getting blown out or anything.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I think it's kas Donald is in a big echoe chamber.
- 18:33Speaker 3: So also too, I don't have the best setup I
- 18:36Speaker 3: should have.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Looks like you have a great set up than I do.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I think you have a fancier microphone than I do.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And you also have one of those spit guards that
- 18:44Speaker 1: they had on the We Are the World video. Donald,
- 18:46Speaker 1: we don't have spit guards.
- 18:48Speaker 2: I'm a spit guard.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Oh d have a spit guard. I think we give
- 18:51Speaker 1: you a spitcar. It comes a time when we eat
- 18:54Speaker 1: a certain call. That was the first time I ever
- 18:55Speaker 1: saw a spit guard. And I didn't need a spit
- 18:58Speaker 1: I didn't know what a spit card was. And I
- 19:00Speaker 1: saw that We Are in the World.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Everybody wanted one after that.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I just remember watching that as a kid and feeling
- 19:05Speaker 3: really bad for Cindy Lauper because she had all of
- 19:07Speaker 3: this jewelry on and they were like, Cindy, can you
- 19:09Speaker 3: please take off your jewelry and she's like, oh, yes,
- 19:11Speaker 3: sorry about that, and he's just like, I remember being
- 19:14Speaker 3: a little kid, feeling really sad for her that she
- 19:16Speaker 3: had to take off her jewelry.
- 19:18Speaker 2: That's just hilarious to go ahead and say it.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Well, Donald and Donald and I've been sending these videos
- 19:23Speaker 1: back and forth. I don't know if you've seen them
- 19:25Speaker 1: on Instagram, but it's like, it's like footage I never
- 19:27Speaker 1: saw before, Michael Jackson reacting to people being off key
- 19:31Speaker 1: because he wrote the song right with.
- 19:35Speaker 3: With Jones, right, okay, yeah and.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Quincy Jones right, and so when some people weren't quite
- 19:42Speaker 1: hitting the note, there's video of Michael like win sing
- 19:45Speaker 1: like or.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Just given a really evil look like man, you right now.
- 19:55Speaker 3: There was no auto tune back then.
- 19:56Speaker 2: No, No, that's when they could really sing. Yeah.
- 20:00Speaker 1: But was that your first time ever seeing his spitguard, Kate.
- 20:03Speaker 3: You know, I don't remember this bitguard. But I've always
- 20:06Speaker 3: I've always really been interested in any kind of footage
- 20:09Speaker 3: of recording studios, like whenever they show like behind the
- 20:12Speaker 3: scenes of a Disney movie, like that to me was
- 20:14Speaker 3: just the magical part of it. So I love that
- 20:17Speaker 3: I get to be in record well these days. Are different.
- 20:19Speaker 3: But before before COVID, I was in a lot of
- 20:22Speaker 3: recording studios.
- 20:23Speaker 1: But the funny thing about whenever you see behind the
- 20:25Speaker 1: scenes footage of I'm going have to ruin this forever
- 20:27Speaker 1: the audience. Whenever you see behind the scenes footage of
- 20:30Speaker 1: someone recording their part in an animated.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Movie, that's that's that's it's that's not the footage.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Yeah, staged because they because the camera crew there was
- 20:39Speaker 1: no lighting in the darkly lit recording studio, and a
- 20:43Speaker 1: camera crew while you're actually recording. But then there's like
- 20:46Speaker 1: a press day, so they like light up a beautiful
- 20:48Speaker 1: microphone and there'll.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Nobody be showing up to freaking stand in a booth
- 20:53Speaker 2: look at all fresh and clean.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Like that exactly, and you have hair and makeup. You
- 20:58Speaker 1: have like hair and makeup, and like it's lit beautifully,
- 21:00Speaker 1: and a lot of times people aren't even wearing headphones.
- 21:02Speaker 1: And I'm always like, oh, most people don't know that
- 21:05Speaker 1: that's not the real then really doing.
- 21:07Speaker 3: It but anywhere magic, No, It's it's very true.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Do you do a lot of voice over and sound work?
- 21:15Speaker 1: You have such a unique voice.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Oh thanks, Yeah, I do. I do a lot of
- 21:20Speaker 3: voiceover I've been Velma in Scooby Doo since twenty forty
- 21:25Speaker 3: and I want to see oh awesome and ductails and
- 21:28Speaker 3: a bunch of yeah jinkies according to my calculations. But
- 21:34Speaker 3: I also and I and I record a lot of music,
- 21:37Speaker 3: so I have spent a lot of time in studios.
- 21:39Speaker 3: But I just love recording studios.
- 21:41Speaker 2: The last time I saw you actually was at Comic Con.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I was getting off of and I was lost on
- 21:46Speaker 2: an elevator. We were passing and you were with the
- 21:49Speaker 2: Ducktails crew, You, Bobby Moynehan, you all were all together
- 21:52Speaker 2: hanging out.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Yes, we were like two ships. I was like hi
- 21:55Speaker 3: and You're like hi, and then that was it.
- 21:57Speaker 2: It was very that was it, and that was it. Yeah.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Out with the Disney Press people, man, they really take care.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Of you, they really.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Do you think I'm joking when I say this, I
- 22:06Speaker 2: mean this with.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Much is tough, and sometimes you know, like you know,
- 22:11Speaker 3: at least the Disney people you get food and water. Yes,
- 22:19Speaker 3: it's a true it's a brutal. It's like a marathon.
- 22:23Speaker 3: But anyway, it's good to see all of you and
- 22:25Speaker 3: nice to meet you.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that's Joelle and Daniel.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Hi, Hi, Nice to meet you, Danel, Nice to meet you.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Daniel's gonna we're doing our first live show and before
- 22:33Speaker 1: you on the tenth in Seattle, and before you came on,
- 22:37Speaker 1: we decided, as in a sort of open production meeting
- 22:41Speaker 1: for the audience, that Daniel was going to be the
- 22:43Speaker 1: DJ as the audience comes in to the venue.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Indeed, and are you going to be playing songs from
- 22:49Speaker 3: the show?
- 22:50Speaker 1: I miss that's a good question. No, I think that
- 22:52Speaker 1: is a good question.
- 22:53Speaker 2: You know.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Also, we're doing the musical episode. But if you remixed
- 22:56Speaker 1: some of the musical like.
- 22:58Speaker 2: With that's just too much work, dude, Oh, turntables, you're
- 23:02Speaker 2: talking on.
- 23:02Speaker 1: The turntables, Dane. Here's a question.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Just find a find a tempo.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, here's my question. Yes, exactly could you do that
- 23:15Speaker 1: with one of the songs from the musical everything? Maybe
- 23:18Speaker 1: you know what? Yes?
- 23:20Speaker 2: All right?
- 23:20Speaker 1: Donald Donald?
- 23:24Speaker 2: Where there is tom or?
- 23:27Speaker 1: Yeah, Daniel, could you do that? Well? Maybe I'll surprise
- 23:30Speaker 1: you guys a couple of haunted. Yeah, I pretend this
- 23:36Speaker 1: this wood Tang Forever track is is everything comes down
- 23:40Speaker 1: to Pooh? Could you do this to it?
- 23:43Speaker 2: Woo Tang Forever?
- 23:44Speaker 1: Could you do that?
- 23:45Speaker 2: All?
- 23:45Speaker 1: Right, we need you to do that. That's a great idea, Kate,
- 23:47Speaker 1: thank you you inspired that.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Oh well, I mean, hey, I do what I can.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I appreciate it. You're so funny in this uhh, and
- 24:04Speaker 1: so sweet and and I love the song so charming.
- 24:08Speaker 1: You're very charming though. How did let's just go back
- 24:11Speaker 1: to the beginning. How did Bill find you? I know
- 24:14Speaker 1: that you have a band, right called garfunkln Oates. Yes, yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 1: So tell us about how Bill came across you.
- 24:21Speaker 3: It was kind of the serendipitous thing that happened because
- 24:24Speaker 3: I had auditioned to play you know, they were getting
- 24:27Speaker 3: new interns on the show and I originally auditioned for
- 24:29Speaker 3: that and in the room, if I remember this correctly,
- 24:32Speaker 3: Bill had said to me, like, I want to write
- 24:34Speaker 3: a part for you that's not one of the interns.
- 24:37Speaker 3: And usually when you hear something like that, you think, oh, well,
- 24:40Speaker 3: that's that's nice. But you know, okay, that's nice to
- 24:43Speaker 3: meet you. Thanks for you know. But the truth is
- 24:45Speaker 3: he's such a good dude and a man of his word.
- 24:47Speaker 3: And then I got a call that he had written
- 24:49Speaker 3: this part because he had seen I had at the
- 24:51Speaker 3: time had uploaded a couple of different ukuleles songs on YouTube.
- 24:55Speaker 3: It was like the very early days of YouTube. And
- 24:58Speaker 3: then at the same time, my friend Ricky Lindhom and
- 25:00Speaker 3: I had started this duo called Garfunk l Notes where
- 25:03Speaker 3: I play the ukulelean she plays the guitar, and it
- 25:06Speaker 3: just was one of those things where she had put
- 25:08Speaker 3: up a couple of the videos on YouTube. Truly, I
- 25:11Speaker 3: didn't know, like she was like, I just want my
- 25:13Speaker 3: family to see what we've written, so I'm uploading it
- 25:16Speaker 3: on this site. Like this was such early days, and
- 25:18Speaker 3: then I was like, oh, no, people are watching our songs.
- 25:21Speaker 3: I was like almost embarrassed. But then all of a
- 25:24Speaker 3: sudden people seem to like those songs, and one of
- 25:26Speaker 3: them being the song that Bill saw which can we
- 25:29Speaker 3: swear on this show?
- 25:30Speaker 2: Yes, as much as you.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Unfortunately it's Donald and I occasionally.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Get to talk about smoking weed on this ship.
- 25:37Speaker 1: That's the least of the ship you talk about. You're right,
- 25:40Speaker 1: we goe about their intimate experience.
- 25:47Speaker 2: All that stuff is no.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Censor needed, way more context.
- 25:53Speaker 2: And then if you do go too far, there's always
- 25:56Speaker 2: the hey, Daniel cut that.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you can always say as we do. Dane cut
- 25:59Speaker 1: that right.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Well, I don't think I'll go too far, but I
- 26:01Speaker 3: will say that the song is called fuck you, but
- 26:04Speaker 3: it's a it's a happy fuck you. It's a it's
- 26:06Speaker 3: not like a mean fuck you. It's like fuck you,
- 26:09Speaker 3: but it's uh. Rick Ricky and I had written this song.
- 26:12Speaker 3: This is even prior to us having a duo. We
- 26:14Speaker 3: just wrote this for a musical. She was making a film,
- 26:17Speaker 3: a short film, and so we had that on YouTube
- 26:19Speaker 3: and then people started seeing it and then Bill, I
- 26:22Speaker 3: guess maybe I don't know how he found Maybe when
- 26:24Speaker 3: I had auditioned, he had looked me up or somebody
- 26:26Speaker 3: had and he so when they came back and they said,
- 26:30Speaker 3: you know, there's this part that of the ukulele girl
- 26:33Speaker 3: on the show You're gonna be Ted's love interest. Can
- 26:36Speaker 3: we use one of your songs from this YouTube video
- 26:40Speaker 3: and or you know, from from fuck you know the
- 26:42Speaker 3: song fucky is what I'm saying. And and so I
- 26:44Speaker 3: was like, let me call Ricky. I think that would
- 26:46Speaker 3: be really cool. And so I tried to get Ricky.
- 26:49Speaker 3: She was like in Spain and this is like, you know,
- 26:52Speaker 3: it was a lot harder to like get a hold
- 26:53Speaker 3: of someone back then even so I remember like calling
- 26:56Speaker 3: trying to figure out if we could use the song,
- 26:58Speaker 3: and then when I got ahold of her, she was like,
- 27:00Speaker 3: that's so cool, Yes, use it. So then we we
- 27:03Speaker 3: ended up having to figure out a different word for five,
- 27:07Speaker 3: which I usually.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Were at this time, so it became screw you right.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Yes, But yesterday I was like, wait, there's an email
- 27:15Speaker 3: and I found it? Can I share it with you?
- 27:17Speaker 2: Absolutely from July.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Of two thousand and eight, and it's uh, basically options
- 27:25Speaker 3: that ABC that the show had sent to ABC, And
- 27:29Speaker 3: for some reason in my brain it was like a
- 27:31Speaker 3: laundry list of options. It's not. It's just a few,
- 27:33Speaker 3: but I'll give you those. So it says, would any
- 27:36Speaker 3: of these below phrases be acceptable as an alt for fuck?
- 27:39Speaker 3: The phrase would I want to? Then says blank you,
- 27:42Speaker 3: So screw was the first option. Then bang, doink sex
- 27:47Speaker 3: and nail sex sex you.
- 27:52Speaker 1: I want to do funny too.
- 27:53Speaker 3: It's pretty funny.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I think screw is by far the best choice.
- 27:57Speaker 3: It's one of the clearer ones.
- 27:58Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, there's nothing more clearer than sex. Unique.
- 28:10Speaker 3: You're right, You're right.
- 28:11Speaker 1: You know what's so unique about it is you play
- 28:14Speaker 1: the character. Seems like she was such a sweet, innocent
- 28:16Speaker 1: and of course we should give love to the late
- 28:20Speaker 1: Sam Lloyd. You two had such a beautiful chemistry.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Together, you know, watching it it was he I just
- 28:26Speaker 3: loved him and I uh watching it rewatching the show
- 28:29Speaker 3: last night, I hadn't seen it since it, you know,
- 28:31Speaker 3: aired in two thousand and eight or nine, and it
- 28:34Speaker 3: was it was really bittersweet, just thinking like we really
- 28:36Speaker 3: did have a good chemistry for sure. He was so
- 28:39Speaker 3: much fun. And the guys in the Blanks are so great.
- 28:42Speaker 3: I got to know them a bit. To the Blanks.
- 28:44Speaker 3: They I was doing a live show at the Steve
- 28:46Speaker 3: Allen Theater here in LA and they were guests on
- 28:49Speaker 3: my show, and they were they were just so fun.
- 28:52Speaker 3: I actually have a funny story. I remember that Sam
- 28:55Speaker 3: told me about their their band or is it a band,
- 28:59Speaker 3: it's a it's a.
- 29:00Speaker 1: A cappella group, an a cappella.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Group, and they were hired to play at a wedding
- 29:06Speaker 3: and the wedding song was God Only Knows and the
- 29:10Speaker 3: end of the song with I may not Always love you,
- 29:15Speaker 3: and they realized, like I kind of held it and
- 29:17Speaker 3: they realized that is not a good way to end
- 29:21Speaker 3: a song at a wedding.
- 29:24Speaker 1: That's really funny. But you just had a really wonderful chemistry.
- 29:28Speaker 1: And I remember thinking on set like that, I could
- 29:33Speaker 1: see you guys really just clicked and got along well
- 29:35Speaker 1: and had your own you know, just connection and inside jokes.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I remember I remember thinking that.
- 29:41Speaker 3: I think I remember being like, this was my first
- 29:44Speaker 3: kind of really big like being on a show that
- 29:47Speaker 3: was successful. This was a very big deal for me,
- 29:49Speaker 3: and so I just remember being like almost like I
- 29:53Speaker 3: didn't even know what I was getting myself into, you know,
- 29:55Speaker 3: like it was just like, oh, what what am I
- 29:57Speaker 3: doing here? I was I was so new and so green.
- 30:02Speaker 3: So yeah, watching it last night, I was like, oh, hey,
- 30:04Speaker 3: for for being so new, I did okay, great.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I just rewatched it as we always do, and I
- 30:12Speaker 1: I couldn't. I wouldn't have guessed that it was your
- 30:15Speaker 1: first big job. I thought you were wonderful.
- 30:18Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I mean, it was, it's it's it's it's really interesting
- 30:22Speaker 2: how the season is turning out, also compared to the
- 30:27Speaker 2: other ones, because this is the dynamic shift. We have
- 30:29Speaker 2: moved to ABC, We're no longer on NBC and stuff
- 30:32Speaker 2: like that, and you know, you and h the Gucca
- 30:37Speaker 2: and Ted's relationship was just it's it's new, but it's
- 30:41Speaker 2: also showing a different side of Ted which nobody has
- 30:44Speaker 2: seen before, which was really amazing, you know what I mean.
- 30:47Speaker 2: He's charming, he's smiling, he's happy, and you've never like
- 30:53Speaker 2: you've seen it as a joke with him, like cheering,
- 30:55Speaker 2: you know what I mean, But you never see him
- 30:58Speaker 2: just like smitten and just you know, filled with joy
- 31:03Speaker 2: and spirit. He's always the down guy, and it was
- 31:06Speaker 2: just such a you know, everything is shifting, and it
- 31:08Speaker 2: was just such a great shift because the other tones
- 31:12Speaker 2: so far, you know, I feel like NBC is I
- 31:15Speaker 2: mean ABC and NBC. The comparison is a little too
- 31:19Speaker 2: wholesome on ABC. But this is one that I embrace,
- 31:22Speaker 2: Like this is one of those things that's like it
- 31:25Speaker 2: just feels right like you, it feels fresh and new,
- 31:29Speaker 2: and that's what the show is needing at this point. Ah.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I you know, he is such a charming like
- 31:37Speaker 3: and just to see him a kind of smitten with
- 31:39Speaker 3: this character and also that giant pratfall that he did,
- 31:42Speaker 3: I mean, there's so many funny moments in this. Yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 3: he's such a talented talented guy.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Yeah, what a great physical comedian, Like you're really he
- 31:52Speaker 1: did so much funny shit and he did all of it.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I'm sure he occasionally must have
- 31:57Speaker 1: had a double, but like I remember him being really
- 32:00Speaker 1: adept at physical comedy and.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Trying to tell you he was so athletic. He was
- 32:03Speaker 2: so athletic. Yeah, he would bush ass and basketball like
- 32:07Speaker 2: for real, for real, he was very athletic. He had
- 32:10Speaker 2: great footwork, he was fast. Anybody who's ever played a
- 32:14Speaker 2: sport with him, you'd be like, wow, holy shit, dude,
- 32:19Speaker 2: you're like he was incredible. Yeah. Wow.
- 32:22Speaker 1: All right, Well let's get into the episode. Guys. It's
- 32:24Speaker 1: an elite.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Dep Forwardam wrote it, directed by Mark Stegman.
- 32:28Speaker 1: There is unfortunately no Donald or Sarah, which is bizarre.
- 32:32Speaker 1: You know how I feel about no Donald episode.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Well, you know what, Usually I'm like, I don't want
- 32:36Speaker 2: to watch this episode. I don't like this episode, but
- 32:39Speaker 2: this episode turned out to be so good that.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Well, I hope, I hope we're done with the noo
- 32:43Speaker 1: Donald's episodes because I don't like them.
- 32:47Speaker 2: It's so nice, but you're so full of shit. No,
- 32:50Speaker 2: I mean it, I mean I don't like this episode.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I laughed a lot, mostly because of Kate and Sam
- 32:56Speaker 1: being adorable together. But I do feel that when you
- 33:00Speaker 1: take Donald and Sarah Chalk out of the episode, it's
- 33:03Speaker 1: a big hit.
- 33:04Speaker 3: I have a question what was what was happening. Was
- 33:08Speaker 3: it something that like they were just trying to get
- 33:10Speaker 3: as many it was money.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I think what they did was they tried to get
- 33:15Speaker 1: the budget of the show down, and so they told
- 33:18Speaker 1: all of us that we were going to miss X
- 33:20Speaker 1: amount of episodes a season.
- 33:23Speaker 2: This is coming right, this is coming back after the
- 33:25Speaker 2: strike and everything like that. Yes, whether we were going
- 33:28Speaker 2: to and we had moved and everything.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a you know, we were just hanging on.
- 33:33Speaker 1: We didn't even know if you know, we didn't know
- 33:35Speaker 1: if that this is.
- 33:35Speaker 2: The last People don't know this, but every year, every year,
- 33:39Speaker 2: we were just hanging on. Every year Bill always found
- 33:43Speaker 2: a way.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Bill did always find a way. And in two
- 33:46Speaker 1: thousand and eight, this is the last strike that happened.
- 33:49Speaker 1: The Right Writers Guild strike really shortened our previous season
- 33:53Speaker 1: and pretty much we thought we were done. NBC told
- 33:57Speaker 1: us we were done, and then ABC ped us up.
- 34:00Speaker 1: So I think in picking us up, they said we
- 34:02Speaker 1: want to find some ways to make the show for cheaper,
- 34:04Speaker 1: and they came up with this bizarre scheme.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Well, salaries changed and everything, like so many things, so
- 34:10Speaker 2: many things happened.
- 34:11Speaker 1: But anyway, so when the show opens with Sam saying,
- 34:14Speaker 1: Peon's assemble and they all come together.
- 34:19Speaker 2: They're always around.
- 34:21Speaker 1: He has to them always around, right.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Donald they're near. There is superpower. We learned that later
- 34:25Speaker 2: that there is superpower.
- 34:27Speaker 1: But he has confidence when he's looking like the badass
- 34:30Speaker 1: that he is. When he's singing with his group. Everyone
- 34:33Speaker 1: feels a greater self esteem when they're in their element
- 34:36Speaker 1: doing the thing that they that they're great at. And
- 34:39Speaker 1: he's a great singer.
- 34:40Speaker 2: And he's the leader of this band. He's the leader
- 34:42Speaker 2: of this group.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Now he wants to sing in pediatrics and he's pitching
- 34:47Speaker 1: to sing Seasons Don't Fear the Reaper, which is not
- 34:53Speaker 1: really the best song for pediatrics, and but they do
- 34:59Speaker 1: sound right right, So.
- 35:02Speaker 2: With an early montage, early montage right at the start
- 35:08Speaker 2: of the show, right in the cold open.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Right, that's right in the cold open. And also the
- 35:12Speaker 1: band does the sting out of the of the cold open,
- 35:15Speaker 1: so it usually goes, I can't do this, So I
- 35:19Speaker 1: believe the band does an acapella version of like that, right,
- 35:23Speaker 1: don't they do?
- 35:23Speaker 2: Like huge? But that's it, Yeah, it doesn't. Do You
- 35:29Speaker 2: remember when Family Ties used to change like the song
- 35:32Speaker 2: every year. It would always be the same song, but
- 35:35Speaker 2: it would be a different version of it.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Oh, I don't remember that.
- 35:38Speaker 2: A Different World used to do that too.
- 35:40Speaker 1: They were a different credit sequence, but they changed the song.
- 35:43Speaker 2: It would be the same song, but a different version
- 35:46Speaker 2: of the song. I believe, so maybe it was a
- 35:49Speaker 2: different credit sequence, and maybe that's what I remember. In
- 35:51Speaker 2: the Different World.
- 35:52Speaker 1: We tried to change our credit sequence once and the
- 35:54Speaker 1: fans that did not go well. Fans were like, no way,
- 35:59Speaker 1: fuck that new credit sequeence, do get that ship out.
- 36:03Speaker 1: The whole idea was to add Neil because Neil had
- 36:05Speaker 1: become a regular, right and.
- 36:07Speaker 2: That we know he's a regular. We don't care these.
- 36:10Speaker 1: You know, fans are very loyal to certain things, and
- 36:14Speaker 1: they definitely did not want their beloved credit sequence being
- 36:16Speaker 1: fucked with. So we see the beautiful Kate.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Kuchie she Yep being introduced.
- 36:24Speaker 1: She's singing a lovely song to the kids and pediatrics,
- 36:27Speaker 1: way more appropriate than fear the reaper. Do you remember
- 36:32Speaker 1: shooting your first uh, that scene?
- 36:36Speaker 3: I remember shooting that. And that's a little song I wrote.
- 36:38Speaker 3: I used to babysit a ton and it was one
- 36:40Speaker 3: of the first songs I ever wrote on ukulele, called
- 36:42Speaker 3: Mister Moon. I was so flattered that they wanted to
- 36:44Speaker 3: use so many of my songs, and in later episodes
- 36:47Speaker 3: I even wrote like specifically for the episode, but like yeah,
- 36:52Speaker 3: I remember being like, yeah, mister Moon would be a
- 36:53Speaker 3: great song for the kids. And I still play. I
- 36:56Speaker 3: just played it the other day at the Bob Baker
- 36:58Speaker 3: Mariy and Net Theater. It's one, it's a it's an
- 37:00Speaker 3: old stand by. At this point, you can you play
- 37:04Speaker 3: a little bit of it? Oh you want to hear
- 37:05Speaker 3: mister Moon, just a little bit?
- 37:06Speaker 1: You have to play the whole song, Just give us
- 37:07Speaker 1: a little song.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Sure?
- 37:09Speaker 3: Well, oh look how funny I have my nikolele.
- 37:14Speaker 1: It was like she audience, She pulled it like someone
- 37:16Speaker 1: might pull an arrow out of a quiver off of
- 37:18Speaker 1: her back.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Okay, here's a little bit of mister Moon.
- 37:25Speaker 1: All right. Great.
- 37:28Speaker 3: One day the moon got tired of be him up
- 37:32Speaker 3: in the sky. He wandered down through the starlight and
- 37:35Speaker 3: landed on the ocean side, and he smiled while he
- 37:39Speaker 3: jumped in the water and laughed about as he danced
- 37:42Speaker 3: in the sand. He pull it on his swim trunks
- 37:44Speaker 3: and snorkel and guess what, mister moon swam.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, yes, I love.
- 37:56Speaker 2: You.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I love it when you sing. It's just seeing you
- 37:59Speaker 1: do it is so cute too, because you like switch
- 38:01Speaker 1: into a little like ukulele mode. It's so cuy.
- 38:03Speaker 3: It's so funny that I just, I mean, it's crazy
- 38:07Speaker 3: to me that the ukulele was just something I kind
- 38:09Speaker 3: of like picked up for fun and then I didn't
- 38:10Speaker 3: never I never thought it would be the thing I
- 38:12Speaker 3: was like always playing. But were you always thinking, oh
- 38:17Speaker 3: my gosh, no, I like, I actually don't think of
- 38:19Speaker 3: myself like I'm not a great sor.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I'm a range voice. It's very unique too. I think
- 38:26Speaker 1: the combination of the ukulele and your voice and and
- 38:29Speaker 1: of course they wanted to use your songs because they're
- 38:31Speaker 1: funny and they're clever, and they were never going to
- 38:33Speaker 1: write something as perfect as and and and bespoke for
- 38:37Speaker 1: you as you could do.
- 38:38Speaker 3: You know, Yeah, thank thank you. I think here's a
- 38:41Speaker 3: fun ukulele fact In two thousand and eight, the sale
- 38:45Speaker 3: of the ukulele went up three hundred percent.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Oh wow, because to right, I wonder, what do you
- 38:55Speaker 1: think it was you on scrubs.
- 38:56Speaker 3: I mean I don't think. I think you know, maybe
- 38:58Speaker 3: I helped that by five percent.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Under that we also used what was the name of
- 39:06Speaker 1: the is? It wasn't there a famous ukuile player? A
- 39:10Speaker 1: Hawaiian guy? Did he play ukulele?
- 39:12Speaker 2: Oh?
- 39:12Speaker 3: Brother is is?
- 39:15Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 39:15Speaker 3: That was a big deal for sure for the ukulele.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember that. I think we used one of
- 39:20Speaker 1: his songs.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Somewhere over the Rainbow. He had that version.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Yeah, well it was. It's not his song, but it's
- 39:27Speaker 2: his cover.
- 39:28Speaker 1: That Yes, actually, with Sam's band we had do a
- 39:32Speaker 1: Ted's band did a cover of his version. Yeah, okay.
- 39:36Speaker 1: So Cox has taught his son to call j D's
- 39:39Speaker 1: baby ugly. So that's new.
- 39:49Speaker 2: For those of you who have kids. That's not a
- 39:51Speaker 2: great moment.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Yeah, not a good moment. Basically, one of the main
- 39:56Speaker 1: things of this story of this episode is that Cox
- 39:58Speaker 1: is so busy, but he's trying to do it all.
- 40:00Speaker 1: He's he's trying to be the chief medicine. He's trying
- 40:02Speaker 1: to give his favorite patients bedside attention. He's trying to
- 40:07Speaker 1: be a father.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Are you a do it all kind of guy?
- 40:10Speaker 1: Zach, Well, I don't have a full family and I
- 40:13Speaker 1: don't work out.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Let's take the family part out, and let's take the
- 40:18Speaker 2: nine to five out. Are you a do it all
- 40:20Speaker 2: kind of guy? I'm gonna say.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Yes, I think so, because you know, well, all I
- 40:24Speaker 1: can point to is when I make my projects, I
- 40:27Speaker 1: definitely try and do as much of it as possible
- 40:29Speaker 1: because it's so important to me.
- 40:30Speaker 2: I want to dude, you can do it all the
- 40:31Speaker 2: way down to the soundtrack, bro, all the way down
- 40:34Speaker 2: to the soundtrack, BRO, thank you.
- 40:37Speaker 1: I wish I could play the ukulele. Actually I played
- 40:39Speaker 1: the ukulele only one song I learned to play, and
- 40:41Speaker 1: when I was in Bullets over Broadway, I my entrance
- 40:44Speaker 1: into the play was rising through the stage on a
- 40:46Speaker 1: on a on a faint roof, playing playing the ukulele.
- 40:51Speaker 3: What was the song?
- 40:52Speaker 1: Love makes Me treat You the way that I do?
- 40:56Speaker 1: G Baby ain't not good to you? There's nothing to
- 41:00Speaker 1: the girl it is too Gee, baby ain't a good
- 41:04Speaker 1: do you know?
- 41:05Speaker 2: Standing quickly that shit goes away from you.
- 41:08Speaker 1: I forgot the word, but I used to know the
- 41:10Speaker 1: chords on the yuke and everything, and it was.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Would you rise through the stage? Is that what it was?
- 41:13Speaker 3: That was your interest?
- 41:14Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 41:14Speaker 1: It was like a very big, large budget Broadway show.
- 41:16Speaker 1: They had these lifts. They had these lifts, multiple lifts
- 41:19Speaker 1: that would come up, and so it was pretty cool.
- 41:21Speaker 1: It was a full twenty seven piece orchestra, and and
- 41:24Speaker 1: my ukulele was miked along with myself obviously, and I
- 41:28Speaker 1: would me and Betsy Wolf, amazing Broadway singer rose on
- 41:32Speaker 1: this set piece that was made to look like a
- 41:34Speaker 1: New York City rooftop, and we rose singing that song.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Yeah cool.
- 41:39Speaker 3: So can I ask? I'm just like a I love
- 41:42Speaker 3: the theater. What was your thought like when you're like
- 41:45Speaker 3: sitting on that roof waiting for it to be like
- 41:48Speaker 3: so nervous.
- 41:48Speaker 1: No one's ever asked me that question. I'll tell you something.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Betsy and I she got mad at me one time,
- 41:52Speaker 1: because Betsy Wolf is the kind of person that will
- 41:55Speaker 1: show up Basically these little light Nabi's que lights, right,
- 41:58Speaker 1: and when the que light would go on, that would
- 42:00Speaker 1: mean like stand by, the lift's going to move. And
- 42:02Speaker 1: then when we go off, the lift's about to rise,
- 42:04Speaker 1: and Betsy's the kind of person that I would go
- 42:06Speaker 1: down there for the whole opening scene because it was
- 42:08Speaker 1: the second scene and just kind of pace nervously underneath
- 42:10Speaker 1: the stage and talk to the stage hands and shoot
- 42:12Speaker 1: the ship just to be there. Betsy's the kind of
- 42:14Speaker 1: person that would show up the second the light lit up,
- 42:17Speaker 1: meaning like the lift's about to go up, and so
- 42:20Speaker 1: often I was so anxious because I was like, where
- 42:22Speaker 1: is she. Oh, she's gonna miss the cue. Oh boy,
- 42:23Speaker 1: oh boy, oh where is she? But it's nerve wracking.
- 42:26Speaker 1: And then you so you got you get a position,
- 42:29Speaker 1: and then the thing starts to move, and then you
- 42:31Speaker 1: go up and it just reveals three thousand people standing there.
- 42:34Speaker 1: It's pretty crazy.
- 42:36Speaker 3: That is so I love. It's so fun to think about,
- 42:39Speaker 3: And yeah, I would be I'd be so scared.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I was nervous. I think if it was the beginning
- 42:43Speaker 1: of the show, it would have been less nerve wracking.
- 42:45Speaker 1: But because it was the second scene, you had a
- 42:47Speaker 1: whole first scene to be like pacing about, right, But
- 42:51Speaker 1: it was pretty cool if I never do another.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Yeah, Also, you had to play the ukulele, so there
- 42:56Speaker 2: was that too.
- 42:57Speaker 1: So I think they I think that I did the
- 42:59Speaker 1: best I could. I think they had a guy doubling
- 43:01Speaker 1: me in the.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Pretty sure they had a guitar under you like this.
- 43:06Speaker 1: I think it was probably No, I'm sure. I'm sure
- 43:08Speaker 1: it was a guitar player in the band that was
- 43:11Speaker 1: on you just doubling me to make it sound better,
- 43:13Speaker 1: because I certainly wasn't going to hit every note right
- 43:16Speaker 1: every time.
- 43:19Speaker 2: The show.
- 43:20Speaker 1: They probably turned the volume on my on mind down
- 43:22Speaker 1: to zero and put his on tens. The way you
- 43:27Speaker 1: can listen to the song. By the way, it's if
- 43:28Speaker 1: you if you go in Spotify where you listen to
- 43:30Speaker 1: music the Bullets over Broadway.
- 43:32Speaker 2: That was your shot, and then he got right there.
- 43:34Speaker 2: All that shit had to do was win the fucking
- 43:36Speaker 2: award for Best Revival Original Player. Oh so best Original
- 43:42Speaker 2: That's all I had to do. That was your shot.
- 43:45Speaker 2: That was your he got shot the music.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I hope to do another Broadway show, so maybe I'll
- 43:50Speaker 1: have another chance that the t and he got.
- 43:52Speaker 2: But no, because if it's a record, listen, this is
- 43:56Speaker 2: why it's dope. If it's a record and it wins
- 43:59Speaker 2: for brought, well you already got the no I already
- 44:02Speaker 2: got the Grammy. You already got the Grammy.
- 44:03Speaker 1: But anyway, long wind way of saying that, if you're
- 44:05Speaker 1: curious about this song, you can go on and look
- 44:07Speaker 1: at the Bullets Over Broadway original cast album and you
- 44:12Speaker 1: can find the song love makes Me Treat You. I
- 44:14Speaker 1: think it's called g Baby. Ain't I good to you?
- 44:17Speaker 1: All Right, we're gonna say a quick break and we'll
- 44:19Speaker 1: come back right after these fine words.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Fuck your sound effects machine.
- 44:31Speaker 1: We're back, all right. So we learned that Jordan takes
- 44:36Speaker 1: naps from eleven thirty to three. That's some new information.
- 44:41Speaker 2: I appreciate that. Yeah, in my old age, in my
- 44:45Speaker 2: I'm not my old age. I take that back. I'm
- 44:46Speaker 2: not old, but am I? As I get older?
- 44:49Speaker 1: Can you take a midday nap and then snap back?
- 44:52Speaker 2: If you smoke enough weed? You can't?
- 44:55Speaker 1: Okay, what if you don't smoke weed.
- 44:57Speaker 2: If you don't smoke weed, I'm gonna have a hard
- 44:59Speaker 2: time doing that.
- 45:01Speaker 1: No, I just find I do like an occasional midday nap,
- 45:04Speaker 1: but it's hard to bounce back sometimes.
- 45:06Speaker 2: You mean when you wake up, you know, like acting
- 45:09Speaker 2: like right after you wake in up from a nap.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Well on scrubs because the hours were so cuckoo. I
- 45:14Speaker 1: would definitely we would Donald and I would both take
- 45:16Speaker 1: naps and then we drink red bulls to get our
- 45:19Speaker 1: energy up.
- 45:20Speaker 2: No, but I like the field now, I would say,
- 45:22Speaker 2: I remember early on in my career and sitting on
- 45:25Speaker 2: set and waiting. I like the feeling of falling asleep
- 45:28Speaker 2: in my trailer and waking up and going directly Donald,
- 45:31Speaker 2: they're ready for you, and going directly to set. Just
- 45:34Speaker 2: like not thinking about anything, not overthinking anything, and going
- 45:38Speaker 2: right to set and going to work. I really I
- 45:41Speaker 2: felt really early on. I felt really creative about that.
- 45:45Speaker 2: And so when you talked about naps and how you needed,
- 45:47Speaker 2: how you felt groggy and everything.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Yeah, on sets, I definitely definitely sometimes take a lunchtime
- 45:52Speaker 1: nap just because you're so groggy. But then I always
- 45:55Speaker 1: have to pound a red bull to snap to do
- 45:58Speaker 1: CPR to my brain to get back in the game. Okay, So, well,
- 46:04Speaker 1: before we get to disease, Kelso brings Cox a latte.
- 46:07Speaker 1: They have a secret friendship.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Now, but everybody knows about it.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Yeah, everyone seems to know about it. We learned that
- 46:15Speaker 1: Harrison Kelso's son, Harrison has a new life partner, Caleb,
- 46:19Speaker 1: and he's just opened a boutique on Fire Island called
- 46:23Speaker 1: Everything Mesh.
- 46:25Speaker 3: It's such a good line.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Everything Mesh is pretty funny on Fire Island. On fire
- 46:34Speaker 1: I'm in a history called everything Mesh on Fireland would do
- 46:36Speaker 1: pretty well.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Fire Island is one of the most popular islands in
- 46:40Speaker 2: the history of islands, dude, like.
- 46:43Speaker 1: In the history of islands.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Like, think about it. It's it's in everything. Everybody knows
- 46:47Speaker 2: about Fire Island.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Everybody is very as I understand it. I've never been
- 46:51Speaker 1: to Fireland, but it's a very lot of very popular
- 46:55Speaker 1: with the gay community. It's a place to go where
- 46:58Speaker 1: there's a big gay sea. We don't have Jowell in
- 47:01Speaker 1: here to weigh in as our as our gay ambassador.
- 47:05Speaker 1: You are correct, though, as our ambassador. Yes, but that's
- 47:09Speaker 1: why Harrison has a shop there Donald called just Mesh
- 47:13Speaker 1: Everything Mash.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Yes, I know this.
- 47:16Speaker 1: We meet Craig, who is JD's patient who has down syndrome,
- 47:20Speaker 1: and uh, he's one of Johnny's c doctor Cox's favorite patients,
- 47:26Speaker 1: and JD is looking after him. But Cox really wants
- 47:29Speaker 1: to be there because he loves this young man and
- 47:31Speaker 1: he wants to, you know, he doesn't want to let
- 47:33Speaker 1: any of his beloved patients down. He's really struggling. Craig
- 47:37Speaker 1: wants a root beer, so JD goes to get a
- 47:40Speaker 1: root beer. There's only two left, and the janitor has
- 47:43Speaker 1: licked uh the root beer can.
- 47:46Speaker 2: He's probably licked both of them.
- 47:47Speaker 1: To be honest with you, Yes, he definitely licked both
- 47:50Speaker 1: of them. And then we learned that he also licked
- 47:52Speaker 1: JD's cell phone.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Why.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I think he just hates JD so anything. He although this.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Later there's a team up though, the first team up ever.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Well, they both share a common love of Ted, and
- 48:10Speaker 1: I think they both see that Ted finally likes a woman.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Ted's finally going to have a chance some some tiny
- 48:17Speaker 1: bit of happiness, and that they're going to team up,
- 48:20Speaker 1: which is bizarre because I don't think it's the first
- 48:22Speaker 1: ever in eight seasons.
- 48:25Speaker 2: What is.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Scrubs wiki. I don't think he spoke directly. I looked.
- 48:29Speaker 1: I don't think he says anything specifically about the team up. Oh,
- 48:34Speaker 1: it is a it is a reference. Ted mentions that
- 48:37Speaker 1: ukulele players are usually heavy Hawaiians. This is a real
- 48:41Speaker 1: likely a reference to Israel and I don't know how
- 48:43Speaker 1: to say his last name.
- 48:45Speaker 3: I don't know either.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Didn't you think it's nice?
- 48:50Speaker 2: Have you guys been watching Dance Moms? No?
- 48:52Speaker 1: Why would any of us watch Dance Moms?
- 48:54Speaker 2: What is it? Dance Moms?
- 48:55Speaker 3: Dance Moms?
- 48:56Speaker 2: No, go back and watch it. Oh my god, it's
- 48:58Speaker 2: the best showing.
- 49:00Speaker 1: There's so much good TV. And Donald's watching Dance Moms.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yo, I'm tasting right now. The mom's on this show.
- 49:10Speaker 2: You think. Look, we all know about because we're all
- 49:13Speaker 2: in entertainment industry. You know about mamagers. You know about
- 49:17Speaker 2: I used to go on auditions and see kids with
- 49:19Speaker 2: their moms and their moms giving them the ultimate pep
- 49:23Speaker 2: talk of you know, you better nail this ship or
- 49:25Speaker 2: you don't eat type stuff. I've seen it. Watch Dance Moms.
- 49:29Speaker 2: They trump all of that, They trump it all. I
- 49:34Speaker 2: think that's the rewatch podcast. After we finished, it's definitely I.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Think that's the red don't worry, don't worry, audience, it's
- 49:40Speaker 1: definitely all right. So Ted chickens out and hits his
- 49:45Speaker 1: head in glorious fashion, and he's riding his bike home
- 49:49Speaker 1: and he says, cherish the paint. Heed it means you're
- 49:52Speaker 1: still alive. The janitor, as we said, decides to team
- 49:57Speaker 1: up with JD. We learned that JD was fooled by
- 50:03Speaker 1: Cocks and flew to the Ozarks for a spontaneous water
- 50:09Speaker 1: ski getaway. And when he's asked was he there, he
- 50:13Speaker 1: said he was not there, nor was his legs near,
- 50:17Speaker 1: nor was his leg side cabin. JD really falls for anything.
- 50:22Speaker 2: That isn't that how the show opens up with him
- 50:26Speaker 2: going to.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Oh and j D also says that there had also
- 50:31Speaker 1: been talk of a tire swing. What do you mean
- 50:35Speaker 1: how the show opens up?
- 50:36Speaker 2: Isn't there something where he tries to trick him where
- 50:38Speaker 2: he tricks him into going back outside and knocking and
- 50:42Speaker 2: he knocks on the door.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and he gets locked locked out? Yeah?
- 50:46Speaker 2: Why is the gooch holding a banana? Away?
- 50:52Speaker 1: Very very inappropriate introduction. Wow, hey, do you remember on
- 51:00Speaker 1: the day thinking, really, guys a banana?
- 51:03Speaker 2: No?
- 51:03Speaker 3: I don't remember that, but I totally that it caught
- 51:07Speaker 3: me by surprise. There were two things that caught me
- 51:10Speaker 3: by surprise yesterday when I was rewatching it. That and
- 51:12Speaker 3: then the last scene, which I guess we'll get to.
- 51:14Speaker 3: But but yeah, the banana was a really funny choice.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I just loved that someone was like, what if she's
- 51:21Speaker 1: holding a banana, and like, it's like so so obviously suggested,
- 51:26Speaker 1: like the most blatant.
- 51:28Speaker 3: I had a friend that said it's so embarrassing to
- 51:30Speaker 3: eat a banana in public, and I thought, that's so funny.
- 51:33Speaker 1: That's true.
- 51:33Speaker 2: I agree on how you eat a banana tells a
- 51:37Speaker 2: lot about you.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Donald, when you eat a banana, do you.
- 51:41Speaker 2: I break that shit off? I break you break it off,
- 51:43Speaker 2: I break it off, throw it a tall grass. No, Illi, listen,
- 51:47Speaker 2: I'm not bananas. Actually, I'm not afraid to eat a banana. Bananas.
- 51:50Speaker 1: I love when you when you do eat a banana,
- 51:53Speaker 1: either in public or private. Have you ever just seen
- 51:55Speaker 1: how much of it you can get down before you gag?
- 51:57Speaker 2: Absolutely?
- 51:58Speaker 1: I had to Yeah a second, Kate, I'm sorry you
- 52:04Speaker 1: had to hear this. I'm sorry, I'm just curious.
- 52:07Speaker 2: I'm just nervous because if it breaks, do you die?
- 52:10Speaker 1: Like swallow it?
- 52:11Speaker 2: Hole?
- 52:12Speaker 1: Donald? You don't want to swallow it, well, you can
- 52:14Speaker 1: choke on it. As a child, I tried to swallow
- 52:16Speaker 1: a grapehole and I remember thinking I'm going to die.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I remember I put a freaking what you
- 52:20Speaker 2: might call it a popcorn, uh seed, Colonel, Yeah, No.
- 52:27Speaker 2: I put it up there, thinking, oh, this looks like
- 52:29Speaker 2: it's a nice cozy place, and I couldn't get it out.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Couldn't get it out.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Get it out.
- 52:34Speaker 3: What happened is my uncle came.
- 52:36Speaker 2: And took that ship out. My uncle came and freaking
- 52:38Speaker 2: found a way to pop that thing out.
- 52:40Speaker 1: I would have gotten a vacuum. Oh man, Cox finally
- 52:45Speaker 1: sits head down enough with his laziness. Now spoiler alert,
- 52:49Speaker 1: they had to fire Asease because he had been cast
- 52:53Speaker 1: in Parks and wreck So this gave them a good
- 52:57Speaker 1: reason and a good storyline to tee up that. You
- 53:00Speaker 1: know what, if you don't perform, there is a point
- 53:02Speaker 1: where you get fired and diseases well character ed is
- 53:06Speaker 1: so not present and lazy and basically it was a.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Complete switch though from what his character was before. His
- 53:15Speaker 2: character might might have been lazy, but his character was
- 53:18Speaker 2: adequate and efficient and now, all of a sudden, out
- 53:23Speaker 2: of nowhere, this dude's freaking online with his buddies playing
- 53:28Speaker 2: trivial games, right instead of learning how to save people?
- 53:32Speaker 1: Right? That is right, Donald, And it was initially that
- 53:34Speaker 1: he's so smart he doesn't even need to study. And
- 53:37Speaker 1: now Cox is like, you don't know the answers sit
- 53:40Speaker 1: here and memorize this book on hearts. That is a
- 53:45Speaker 1: tweak anyway, he had to go, But I think it's good.
- 53:49Speaker 1: They showed that you can be fired if you're a
- 53:51Speaker 1: shitty doctor and don't show up and don't don't hold
- 53:54Speaker 1: your own.
- 53:55Speaker 2: It takes a lot for somebody to fire you. And
- 53:57Speaker 2: then also look at least it took a lot for
- 54:00Speaker 2: to fire people. He didn't like to do it.
- 54:02Speaker 1: No, he didn't love firing people. No one likes firing people.
- 54:05Speaker 1: But you got to be careful that people that aren't
- 54:08Speaker 1: good are stuck doing their jobs.
- 54:10Speaker 2: If well as these was great, and it was, it
- 54:13Speaker 2: was just amazing.
- 54:14Speaker 1: These would have been on a long time, I bet.
- 54:16Speaker 1: But uh, he got parks and rec so we Oh.
- 54:21Speaker 1: This is a famous meme I've seen so many times
- 54:24Speaker 1: about Ted when someone says we found you in the
- 54:27Speaker 1: park throwing rocks at old couples, and he says, why
- 54:31Speaker 1: should they be happy?
- 54:37Speaker 2: This is the whole episode where the janitor talks about
- 54:39Speaker 2: the duck.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Yes, this is one of Bill's.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Favorite jah that is such an amazing I watched it twice.
- 54:45Speaker 3: I had to rewind it. It was so good.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Neil made that all up, obviously. I just saw Bill
- 54:51Speaker 1: last night and he I told him that we were
- 54:54Speaker 1: doing this episode, and he just started cracking up and
- 54:57Speaker 1: going into the whole improv that Neil came up with
- 55:01Speaker 1: about fighting the duck.
- 55:03Speaker 3: I can't believe that was an improv.
- 55:04Speaker 2: That's increat.
- 55:05Speaker 1: He totally made it up on the spot. Wow, and
- 55:07Speaker 1: he's fighting a duck. I think that I forgot if
- 55:09Speaker 1: it made the show or not. But when Bill did it,
- 55:12Speaker 1: he was saying that He says, we both took our
- 55:14Speaker 1: shirts off, as if to say the duck was wearing
- 55:17Speaker 1: a shirt shirt. Yeah, wow, And yeah, so that's just
- 55:25Speaker 1: crazy Neil being being uh funny. But that's that's definitely
- 55:28Speaker 1: in this episode too. We also learned the janitor makes
- 55:32Speaker 1: something called jum which is jump and tonic, which is
- 55:38Speaker 1: jin ram and tonic. And then he says to he
- 55:46Speaker 1: says to Ted, he's like him alcohol.
- 55:51Speaker 2: He's like, it's not alcohol, it's a breakfast liquor.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. And then he says his advice is
- 55:58Speaker 1: give give of her a present that you made my
- 56:03Speaker 1: first day with lady, I made her a duck that
- 56:05Speaker 1: I killed.
- 56:06Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 56:08Speaker 1: This is when he talks about how he got in
- 56:10Speaker 1: a fight with the duck. Then Ted tries to stand
- 56:13Speaker 1: up and he's hammered, and the janitor says, those are
- 56:16Speaker 1: jum legs.
- 56:22Speaker 2: What adult would leave a kid like that? I mean,
- 56:28Speaker 2: that's right. Who dropped the kid off there? It's not okay,
- 56:30Speaker 2: I get it. Doctor Cox was supposed to pick his
- 56:33Speaker 2: child up. He missed the opportunity because he was He's
- 56:36Speaker 2: busy doing so many things. Things like that. I hope
- 56:40Speaker 2: never happened to me with my kids, but I could
- 56:43Speaker 2: see how something like that would happen. But who was
- 56:46Speaker 2: the asshole? That's like, all right, now, get out the
- 56:49Speaker 2: car and you stay right here on this corner with
- 56:53Speaker 2: these busy cars while I leave you to do the
- 56:56Speaker 2: rest of my day.
- 56:57Speaker 1: I know, or I assume. Yeah. I was nervous just
- 57:00Speaker 1: even watching the kid, knowing that there was obviously tons
- 57:02Speaker 1: of adults around. It was just nerve racking to watch it.
- 57:06Speaker 2: Crazy. Who does that? Nobody, nobody. It'll just be mad
- 57:13Speaker 2: at you when you get there. I had ship to do.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Put your kid and you.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Jad and the janitors throw ted in the elevator with Gooch. Yes,
- 57:24Speaker 1: and and when the elevator door opens, uh kate you.
- 57:30Speaker 1: They ask you what's going on and you say something
- 57:32Speaker 1: like he's he's hiding in the corner.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Yeah, And then he's just in the corner. I remember.
- 57:40Speaker 3: I remember when we were shooting this and I was like,
- 57:42Speaker 3: this is so weird, and you're like, have you seen
- 57:44Speaker 3: our show?
- 57:48Speaker 1: I love that. An actor coming in to do like
- 57:50Speaker 1: a recurring part is like, is this is this too weird?
- 57:53Speaker 1: I mean hiding in the corner of the elevator or like, no,
- 57:56Speaker 1: have you watched the show?
- 57:58Speaker 3: Anything goes?
- 58:00Speaker 2: But then he says he says that the janitor goes. Yeah.
- 58:04Speaker 2: He does this often. He'll come out in a second
- 58:06Speaker 2: when he feels like the coast is clear, and he
- 58:08Speaker 2: comes out after looking around like a little animal looking
- 58:11Speaker 2: to see if it's safe. And he comes out and
- 58:14Speaker 2: then finally stands up and gets the nerve to finally
- 58:17Speaker 2: talk to the touch right. But he gets the nerve
- 58:22Speaker 2: by calling the peans peons a symbol.
- 58:25Speaker 1: Right that gives him his superpower.
- 58:27Speaker 2: That's where his power shows up.
- 58:28Speaker 1: And what song do you guys sing?
- 58:30Speaker 3: I forgot there, carry on my wayward side.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I learned that song through rock Man. That's how
- 58:38Speaker 2: I learned that.
- 58:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it's Kansas. I just looked it up.
- 58:48Speaker 3: I remember one of my favorite I have so many
- 58:50Speaker 3: really clear memories from shooting this episode. But we were
- 58:54Speaker 3: in the stairwell of the hospital, practicing, all of us,
- 58:57Speaker 3: and it was it just sounded so cool because it
- 58:59Speaker 3: was all and these guys are so good and then
- 59:02Speaker 3: there I was with my ukulele and like singing along
- 59:04Speaker 3: with them, and I just remember feeling like my heart
- 59:06Speaker 3: was so full. I was like this, like it doesn't
- 59:09Speaker 3: get better than this, like practicing, we're just about to
- 59:12Speaker 3: shoot this thing. These guys are so good, Like it
- 59:14Speaker 3: was just a really great moment. I still remember it.
- 59:16Speaker 2: Do they make electric ukuleles? Yeah, sound like electric guitars
- 59:21Speaker 2: kind of you want to.
- 59:22Speaker 3: See you want to see one of them?
- 59:24Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 59:24Speaker 1: Oh wait, okay, hang on, we'll have to describe it
- 59:26Speaker 1: to the audience because this is not a visual production. Excited.
- 59:32Speaker 1: I'm excited for Daniel to remix Scrubs.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Music song Holy Cat. Look at that? Wow, So it
- 59:38Speaker 2: looks like it looks like a I guess it looks
- 59:41Speaker 2: like a fender.
- 59:42Speaker 1: It looks like a tiny electric guitars.
- 59:45Speaker 3: It's a brand called Ella Yuk. They gave it to
- 59:47Speaker 3: me a long time ago. I don't know. And it
- 59:48Speaker 3: actually has batteries, so but I don't think the batteries
- 59:50Speaker 3: are in it right now. But I've I've messed around
- 59:54Speaker 3: with it and like you can just like you know,
- 59:55Speaker 3: put a pedal on it and like a you know,
- 59:57Speaker 3: make some crazy sounds.
- 59:59Speaker 2: Because you have fast hands. I was wondering if you've
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: ever done solos like on the.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Event. We can YouTube and search for people doing insane
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: solos on the dude.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: I found a dude doing the e Walk song from
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: Return to the Jedi on That's cool.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I think it's uku lily, you keep saying.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: I think it's either either.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Oh really, I think because you're the expert, tell us
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: is it? You can say uk lily.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: I think in Hawaii they say lily, you say kallely.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: I say klely.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Donald. Did you know that on purpose that you were
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: using the Hawaiian pronunciation?
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: I did, you didn't, but yeah no, but I found.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Yo nope, chiky Why why celebrate the live?
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Yeah? No, yep, no Hallelun.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Do you know the whole song.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: No, Yo, I'm not I'm just making up sounds.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: The only part I remember, and I think we've talked
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: about this on the podcast, is that all of a sudden,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Donald and I you have joked you and I have
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: joked about this that it's any wakes and then it
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: cuts to celebrate the life which we have, which we
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: surmised that there was no Ewoks for celebrate the life.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: All of a sudden can speak English, celebrate the life.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I think it goes yub nub it chicky. Why why
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: celebrate the life?
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: No, but then they changed the music completely.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: See if there's a recording session of this on YouTube
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: like you.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: That would be amazing. I would love to see a
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: bunch of grown folks in a room banging drums. I
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: think that's speaking. I don't know. I think they might
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: be speaking actually in an African language, actually the Ewoks.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: I could be wrong, but look that up for googling
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: at this very moment, Daniel, what.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Can you look up the origins of the Ewok language.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Daniel, Swahili or something like that.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: You walk speak their native language of Ewalk is a
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: fictional language created for the film I.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Got it right, oh, it's created.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: So Danel can you google the lyrics to the end song?
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: And am I right in?
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Yeah? No, Daniel, don't feel bad making fun of it
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: because it's it's it's it's made up for the movie.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: So I could say it and not offend anybody, ye.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Have, No, Daniel, can you confirm that in the lyrics
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: to the final e walk song that celebrate the Life
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: is the only English in the song?
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: Sure? You ce imagine because if they're like Bad Bunny
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: and they just sneak English words in these in the song,
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: you listen to Bad Bunny at all?
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: No, you don't listen to bad I mean, I know,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: with a big hit that's always on the top baby.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: No, no, you don't listen to that.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: No. I only listen to Kate's music.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: All right, well, all.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: Right, well then we got to I really wanted to
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: get to what, Daniel, what are you learning?
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Uh? There is no celebrate the Life in the song.
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: I was gonna say, well, that is the lyric, it's
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: actually celebrate the Light, Celebrate the Light. But also all
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: of the all the lyrics are apparently in e Walkies,
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: but there's an English translation.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I don't know, I don't know.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: What hold on time out. I've been dying to know
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: what they're singing in this song.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: I mean, please just read it the English translation, the
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: English translations. Just one verse. Please freedom.
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: We got freedom and now that we can be comebrate
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: no stop stop that, you know that's what the freedom.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: We got freedom and now that we can be free.
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: Come and celebrate power. We got power and now that
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: we can be free. It's time to celebrate. Celebrate the freedom,
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: celebrate the power, celebrate the glory, celebrate the love.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Yubub what's yeah, I'm just I just inserted that for flavor,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: but it just celebrate the love you yub nub must
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: mean celebrate freedom.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: No, yubnub is freedom, yub freedom.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Actually yeah it is yub no is freedom. Wow. Totally
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: nice Donald, good work. All right, yup, number, Let's take
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: a break. We'll be right back after these fine words. Kate,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: would you honor us by singing, uh this song, the
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: fuck you song?
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, I I'll do. You know, I'll just do
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: both parts. It's a duet.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: But if you wouldn't mind doing both parts?
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and yeah, I'll you.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Can't harmonize well well she she can't she can't harmonize
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: with herself?
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: But yeah, it would be hard and and.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Does anyone ever harmonized with themselves? Kate without electronic recording.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Equipment that has like an interesting vocal chord or something.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: I don't know, I'd love to say, all.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Right, well, okay, here is here is a fuck you
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: like Kate mccoochee.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: All right, This one goes out to sam Oh speak.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: I've got so many questions in my mind, and I've
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: got too many answers to find ken, I give up
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: all I've imagined? Am I am magical enough for this
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: to happen? Because I like you, I like you, I
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: like you, I like you, and like can lead to
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: like like and like like can lead to sure as
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: the stars above, I'd really like to screw you. Oh Oh?
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Can I be the man you are looking for? Can
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: I be your girl forevermore? I'll try real hard not
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: to lose her. I'll try to be less of a
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: loser because I like you, I like you, I like you,
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: I like you, and like can lead to like like,
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: and like like can lead to love. Sure as the
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: stars above, I really like to doink you, bang you,
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: nail you sex you screw.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: You when you do the high When you do that
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: high note, it makes.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: Me thanks because I really can't quite hit it.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: But oh, okay, you should write a musical.
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: Oh I thank you. I mean someday, maybe it is
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: a dream of mine.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I really think that. I'm just listening to you. Then
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: I thought you because you're a funny, talented lyric assist
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: and musician. You can do both and their storytelling songs.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: I really think that you'd be such a good creator
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: of a musical.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: Thank you. Yeah, I mean, it's definitely something I want
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: to do. So I appreciate that.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Donald and I will do the play for yours when
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: you when you're ready, Donald and I will do.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: The play reading okay, perfect, And if.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: There's a moment for me to rise through the stage playing.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: On a roof, yes, I'm willing to.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I'm willing to expand to other set pieces, but I
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: do want to come through the stage perfect.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: Well, thank you thanks for letting me do that.
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: We should go back and talk about how that all
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: comes from. You got Ted and Gooch rehearsing together all
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: the time, and Ted coming and running in and saying, yo, dude.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: I think she likes me, and they're like, how do
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: you know she likes you? And then we flash back
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: to this moment, right and then she comes in and
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: then Gooch comes in again and asks Ted for to
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: go to coffee, and Ted calls the peons. This was
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: I mean, it's such great storytelling. Man. He calls the
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: peons and she was like, well, I was kind of
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: just thinking it would be you and me. And he
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: looks back and it's that look back of you know,
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: I don't need you, guys, I want you here, and
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: they look at him like you're gonna be okay. But
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: then they don't have no place to go after Like,
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: it's such a great moment, and then you know, this
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. It's the great
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: It's one of the best meet cutes on Scrubs and
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: the Turk and Carla got the best one. But you know,
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: after that, it's very sweet.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: And instantly you just root for them. You just root
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: for these right away. Yeah, because gree one wants people
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: to be in love, and especially someone who's socially awkward
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: and timid, as the character of Ted, You're like, oh,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: come on, I want love for him. This is so exciting.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: You just get invested, you know.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: You just want something more than the tragedy that was
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember being very nervous for that scene. Like
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: I said, this was like very early on for me,
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: and so it was like a longer scene than the
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: other ones had been. So I was like, Okay, I've
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: got I've got dialogue here. I've got to get this right.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: And I remember thinking every time we did a take,
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: I was like, what, why are my eyes all messed up?
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: Why are my eyes all messed up? And I was
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: so nervous. I wasn't blinking. It's all right, blank.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: I found myself doing that in scenes too where but
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: it's not blinking. I'll sometimes just freeze in a position
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: and hold a position for like way too long. I'd
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: be like I should have put my hands down.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: But then you're like, oh, I just do that for now.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: I've got to be doing that now.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: I got it right. For every take, I have to
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: hold it.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: That's true. You have to kind of commit to what
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: you did, yeah, which is so frustrating sometimes because you're like,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: why did I do that right?
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: And you second guess here, Yeah, but you know it's
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: from this It's the work. The work is the work.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: I want to say, One funny, interesting thing that most
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: people wouldn't get is that Christa has this necklace that
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: she would in her real life that is the letters
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: of all her children. Each one is a little charm
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: of all her children. And I noticed that she was
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: wearing it in one of these scenes walking down the hallway,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: and her the h was on top these stacked charms.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: H for Henry was the one that was stacked on top,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: just a tiny thing. I noticed that most people, not
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: even Scrubs Wiki would notice.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: That's so sweet.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: Yeah, so Henry. She was wearing a Henry basically a
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Henry charm necklace for her son.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: You know, this episode really does show you, you know,
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: because Cox he really tries to do it all on
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: his own, and he fails at the end, and he
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: fails at the one thing that he really really cares
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: about the most, and that's being with his son and
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: being able to read his son a bedtime story at night. Yeah,
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: and if he would just you know, accept the help.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: You know, he bends a little bit and he takes
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: you know, he allows Karla to help with the schedule,
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: But if he would have just gave her the schedule
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: in the first place, maybe that would have been off
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: the plate. But because he has to do everything, he
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: missed the one thing he sacrifices, the one thing that
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: he enjoys doing the most, the reason why he you know,
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: works in the hospital and does what he does too,
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: you know. And it was, it's it's, it's it's really
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: it's it's paced over really fast. But at that moment,
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: I've come home and the kids have been asleep and
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: been like, you know, ship that was I was hoping
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: to I was hoping to catch them and the disappointment.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: But yeah, man, that was a really interesting that was
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: It was it's a relatable moment, and it's also the
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: show in a nutshell, and you can't do this by yourself.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the whole show. I can't do this all
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: on my own. It's it's the whole premise, thesis, statement
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: of the show.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: I just got shills thinking about it.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: I also thinking, as you were saying that, Donald, that
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: I bet Bill was thinking about all this, because you know,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: being a showrunner is like being the chief of medicine.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: You're in charge of everything and every department is asking
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: for your attention. In editing and writing, in production where
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: they're shooting actively in wardrobe for next week's costumes, and
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: location scouting for next week's location. Everyone is pulling you
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: in every single direction and you have to delegate. And
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: also Bill has has and had three children and a wife.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: So I couldn't help but think as I was watching this, thinking, gosh,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: he's writing this for Cox, but it also really overlaps
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: with his own life.
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: I've always thought that Cox and Bill are pretty much
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: the same character, not like really outright, but yeah, you know,
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: I mean, the relationship that they have with JD is
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: kind of the relation Jordan and Cox. I'm saying, it's
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: kind of the relationship that they have with everybody. They're
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: so sincere and so loving and so grateful. But it
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: comes with the bit of you know, I don't want
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: to say, I don't want to misuse the word, but
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: it comes with a bit of snark. It comes with
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: a bit of you know, uh, it's not tough love.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: It comes it comes with a jab here and there.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: You know what I mean. You ever hear you talk
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: to Bill, you have conversations with Bill, He'll make fun
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: of you a couple of times and you'll be like,
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: oh shit, that was tough. But it's all coming from
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: love and from back, from back then quite a bit.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: But I feel like when he writes Cox and JD,
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: that's him. I feel like Cox is his reflection of
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: how he is to everybody in some ways, like it's
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: like I don't want to really fuck with y'all, but
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: I do fuck with y'all because I love you. But
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: you know, I prefer it if you know, you'd give
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: me my space and let me have my wall up. Yeah,
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: but he's dropped that completely. I remember what he didn't hug.
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: I remember what he didn't.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: He used to not hug, and you have to be like, dude,
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Me and Donald were like, we're huggers. Dud, you're gonna
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: have to drop this because we need to hug you
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: right now. He's a big hugger.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: It's a huge minute. It took many long time, long time.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Well that's pretty much the show, Kate, this has been
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: so fun and thank you so much. How about by
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: the way, how do people who want to hear your
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: music tell them how they could find your you and
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: in your band? How do they find you singing?
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I think mostly just on Spotify, I mean Garfunkle notes.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: We have a ton of YouTube videos. Uh just you know,
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: but we also have albums on Spotify. I have some
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: solo music on Spotify. I'm gonna have a new album
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: of songs coming out in September. But but yeah, so,
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know. I always making songs.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: So that's how you find Kate's music every garfunkling notes
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: or Kate mccucie spelled spell.
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: It Kate m I see u c c I Oh.
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: I was going to tell you this funny story real
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: quick to do it. So I'm in New York City
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: like a month ago, and I'm running because we're rushing
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: to get We had to go to the airport and
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: I see this guy selling T shirts and instead of Gucci,
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: it said Coucie see you Yeah, And a lot of
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: people call me Kucci or you know, which is funny
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: because this character is gucc But and I said, hold on,
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: does that say Kucci And he's like no, it says Gucci.
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: And I was like, no, I want it to say
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: Kucci and it goes, yeah, that's Cuchie. I have to
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: buy it. It's like the best twenty dollars I've ever spent.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: It's my favorite T shirt.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: So it's like the Gucci font, but it's a sea exactly.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: That's hilarious. Donald, you could rock that.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: I could listen. Man, I have no problem rocking Cucci
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: on my shirt.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: Are you thinking about your outfit for the live show?
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: I want you to Daniels already thinking about his especially not.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: This is getting real. Okay, it's getting real. Talk about
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: things that are that? Are you know I'm not in
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: my fighting weight yet?
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: Yeah? Well you have you have eight days to get to.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: Your fighting Yeah. I need I need to get on that.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Are you going to go on to cleanse?
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: You want to know what I'm gonna do?
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: Get high and eat toritos.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: I'm not going to smoke weed for the whole week.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Yeah right, here it is folks.
