- 0:00Speaker 1: I am Sherry Mackie and it's time for us to
- 0:03Speaker 1: go to God in prayer. And as always I ask
- 0:06Speaker 1: that you join along with me in prayer. And I
- 0:08Speaker 1: can't help today, but think about this Christmas season, all
- 0:15Speaker 1: of the people who are hurting during the Christmas season
- 0:20Speaker 1: for various reasons. Some are hurting because they're dealing with
- 0:24Speaker 1: their first Christmas, or their second, or their tenth or
- 0:28Speaker 1: their fifth without a loved one. For those that are
- 0:35Speaker 1: maybe lonely at Christmas for whatever reason, Heavenly Father, we
- 0:40Speaker 1: come before you with tender hearts during this Christmas season,
- 0:44Speaker 1: the season that speaks of joy and celebration, yet for
- 0:47Speaker 1: many it carries the weight of loss, of absence, of longing. Lord,
- 0:55Speaker 1: you see the empty chairs at the table, the silent
- 0:58Speaker 1: phones that you're maitions that now feel different because someone
- 1:02Speaker 1: we love is no longer here. Father, we lift up
- 1:06Speaker 1: those facing Christmas without a loved one, the widow, the widower,
- 1:11Speaker 1: the grieving parent, the child whose heart aches for a
- 1:15Speaker 1: mother or father they can no longer hold. We pray
- 1:18Speaker 1: for those who never had the joy of children, whose
- 1:22Speaker 1: arms feel empty during the season that celebrates family and Lord,
- 1:28Speaker 1: we especially lift up the motherless child, the fatherless child,
- 1:31Speaker 1: and those who feel unseen and forgotten during these days, God,
- 1:37Speaker 1: You're close to the broken hearted. Draw near now. God,
- 1:40Speaker 1: Sit with them in the quiet moments, Hold them when
- 1:45Speaker 1: the tears fall unexpectedly, comfort them when memories rush in
- 1:49Speaker 1: and the pain feels fresh all over again. Remind them
- 1:53Speaker 1: that they are not alone, That even when loved ones
- 1:56Speaker 1: are absent, you are present. But Christmas reminds us that
- 2:01Speaker 1: you enter the world and humility and vulnerability in a
- 2:05Speaker 1: moment of great need. You are immanual God with us.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Be with those who feel lonely in crowded rooms, with
- 2:12Speaker 1: those who smile on the outside but ache on the inside.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Be with those who dread the holidays, because grief feels
- 2:20Speaker 1: louder than joy. Father, bring peace to trouble hearts. Replace
- 2:25Speaker 1: heaveness with hope God, and sorrow with strength, and loneliness
- 2:28Speaker 1: with the comfort God that only your presence brings. Let
- 2:32Speaker 1: your love fill every empty space. Surround them with people
- 2:36Speaker 1: who care, memories that heal, and moments of unexpected grace. God,
- 2:41Speaker 1: help us as your people to notice those who are hurting. You.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Give us compassionate hearts, open hands, and gentle words. God,
- 2:52Speaker 1: teach us to be reminders of your love today, to
- 2:56Speaker 1: check in, to listen, to show up, and to walk
- 2:59Speaker 1: along side those who are grieving. Lord, we thank you
- 3:04Speaker 1: that in this season, it's not just about what's missing,
- 3:09Speaker 1: but what remains. Your faithfulness remains, your promises, remain your
- 3:13Speaker 1: unchanging love. Even and lost, you are still good. Even
- 3:17Speaker 1: in grief, you are still near, and even in sorrow,
- 3:21Speaker 1: you are still our hope. So today, Father, we entrust
- 3:25Speaker 1: every broken heart into your hands, wrap them in your piece,
- 3:28Speaker 1: carry them through this season, and remind them that joy
- 3:31Speaker 1: may feel delayed, but it is certainly not denied, because
- 3:35Speaker 1: you are still writing their story In Jesus' name. Amen,
