Transcript
- 0:03Happy Saturday morning, everybody.
- 0:06I chose Robin Pemberton, one of the legends.
- 0:09Hold on. Come over here, Richard.
- 0:14OK, so here's what's been going on, guys.
- 0:17We stopped in Jackson, MI, and then we saw we saw Old Blue,
- 0:22which was JD Mcduffie's original haul.
- 0:25So this is all about, you know what what, what it was like in
- 0:30the past. So my deal with you, Robin, is
- 0:35how did you end up getting a NASCAR?
- 0:36What didn't you come from Lenore?
- 0:38Yeah, Upstate New York. OK, Richard, get in here.
- 0:42I want you in here. Too, so I was with Petty's in
- 0:4579. Yeah, but you came out.
- 0:47Tell me how you got everybody's goes.
- 0:49How did you get the NASCAR? How did you get there?
- 0:51I drove. Son of a bitch legendary.
- 0:56I tried. I had a friend and Steve Mill
- 0:58got me a job there at the Petty's when Kyle started
- 1:01racing. So you saw Steve mill up north?
- 1:03Yeah, we're we were friends since we were teenagers.
- 1:06I began. I didn't know it.
- 1:07Steve Mill and you? Yeah.
- 1:09And did you both start at the Petty's?
- 1:12He was down at at Dewitt's with Benny and all of that.
- 1:15Oh yeah, Danny went through Petty's.
- 1:18Is it DeWitt or DeWitt? What?
- 1:20What is Richard DeWitt? DeWitt.
- 1:22DeWitt Yeah. Then you were with my brother
- 1:26Rusty, and you guys kicked some serious ass.
- 1:29Yeah. Seven years.
- 1:30Yeah, is were you there the year you all won 10 races?
- 1:33No, that bud buddy was there. I think we won.
- 1:36Five is the best year I had. Were you there the year that
- 1:39they took your motor apart on the asshole?
- 1:42Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:44So it didn't even went to work for NASCAR, but tell me about
- 1:48that story. OK, so you guys went 10 poles
- 1:51one year and NASCAR had enough of that?
- 1:54So they took the motor part. And here it's going to get good
- 1:57now. OK, go.
- 1:58Ahead, lay in the parking lot at Sears Point.
- 2:01In the pit area on the. Asphalt.
- 2:03What's funny about it is that we sat on a pole, but that wasn't
- 2:07even a good qualifying motor, so that's where we left the whole
- 2:10time we're taking it apart. OK, so.
- 2:12That was all rusty there. I'm going to try this and then
- 2:15you straighten me out. OK.
- 2:17You guys had light rods, so that created light inertia.
- 2:21You were turning that thing like 10,000 RPM.
- 2:24We could. Turn a lot.
- 2:26Everybody else was turning like 8000 RPMS.
- 2:28And we would turn a lot. He still don't want to tell the
- 2:33exact truth. It was a lot, right?
- 2:34Come over here. Look at.
- 2:36These guys. Do this is to cut you off.
- 2:38So no, don't let it cutting me off.
- 2:40This is good stuff. So this sweet man, yes he is.
- 2:43I didn't get. In a lot of trouble in NASCAR,
- 2:45but if there's nearest trouble. What's crazy?
- 2:48Stupid and save. Me every time I think of Robin
- 2:50Moore as a crew chief than his NASCAR days.
- 2:54But we're talking about the time that they sat on like 10 poles
- 2:57in a year with Rusty, right? It was a lot.
- 3:00I felt bad because it was like Year 5 and someone's like showed
- 3:03me a picture of Robinson Cruise and my response was, wait, the
- 3:06guy that runs the place was it? That's what.
- 3:08He had. No idea.
- 3:10I was like, Oh my. God, you know that is strange
- 3:12though, because you you look at Dale Junior and you look at a
- 3:15lot of the great race car drivers and, and all of a sudden
- 3:17now they're in TV, right? Everybody makes that transition.
- 3:21Was that OK? So we talked about that, that
- 3:25those were light rotating parts in that motor and you guys.
- 3:30Allegedly. Did that piss Pensky off?
- 3:33Everybody's seen those parts laid out all over.
- 3:36I think I think it it ruffled feathers.
- 3:40I didn't. I didn't like that at all.
- 3:42Well, we were mad because we had stuff we want to do when we get
- 3:46out of the racetrack. You know, you're up in wine
- 3:48country, You don't want to stand there tearing motor parts Friday
- 3:51afternoon. That's not fun.
- 3:53Isn't it funny how people see things so differently?
- 3:55I'm thinking, OK, NASCAR just invited Robert Yates, Jack
- 4:01Roush, everybody over there to watch you guys pull that motor
- 4:04apart. Yeah.
- 4:06And and I and I'm like, that ain't right because you guys
- 4:09worked for that. You're like, that was a long
- 4:12time ago, right? That was a lot, OK.
- 4:16That was 30 years ago. About 25 years ago, it was over
- 4:2025. What was it?
- 4:21Yeah, that. That That's my problem, Robin.
- 4:25Things just go so fast. OK?
- 4:28Richard Boston took some pictures of you down at
- 4:32Rockingham. You.
- 4:35Yes, he this was my transportation.
- 4:37Guy, OH. Yeah, with.
- 4:39Kyle, you know, I, I bragged on Richard at Rockingham and I
- 4:42said, you know, drove for Kel Yarborough.
- 4:45No Buddy Baker, who all did you drive for?
- 4:50He drove our tractor trailer when I had dirt dever.
- 4:53Benny Parsons. Benny Parsons, Yeah.
- 4:56Freight truck Riverside. Me and Benny went to Riverside,
- 5:00me and him. Do you have one story that
- 5:04stands out from hauling that race car?
- 5:08Are you like 2 candid? You get stuck in Mexico at a bar
- 5:11or anything. You did you.
- 5:16So everybody in the in the old days, everybody went to
- 5:19Riverside or Ontario. They always have that story.
- 5:23Oh, we went to Tijuana. You guys didn't do all.
- 5:27That I did lock Kyle up in the trailer at Daytona one time.
- 5:31What happened? Well.
- 5:33It was time to go. Yeah, and I said, anybody in
- 5:36here? Nobody said that.
- 5:37I locked the door, right? I'm in a padlock.
- 5:40I won't like to get doors now. You.
- 5:42Got coffee black? I always kept respect.
- 5:46Hazelnut Creamer. And somebody called me and said,
- 5:49hey, Kyle's locked in. The trailer's beating, Get Me
- 5:51Out of here, Get Me Out. I said, what the hell?
- 5:53You got telephone, You got a bathroom.
- 5:55You got plenty of mail. Yellow.
- 5:58You locked him in. So is it true that every time
- 6:01you go to the scales like it the the the the man or the lady that
- 6:07runs the the scales on the side of the highway, they go?
- 6:10You got a hat up in there? Yeah.
- 6:12Is that the deal with it? I mean, just give me a damn hat.
- 6:15Look, all our trucks, everybody's are super clean.
- 6:19I mean inspected. We're not, you know, like law
- 6:22callers so they don't mess with you too bad.
- 6:25But I mean, sometimes we get pulled up and have respect.
- 6:27Sometimes it is pretty cool though, I mean, Robin, even us,
- 6:32you know, us guys that work on the cars, there's so much
- 6:36respect for the truck drivers. Cause to me the most respect I
- 6:39give you, I mean I give you respect for everything.
- 6:41But getting those damn truck and trailers like say in Bristol,
- 6:45how do you know the routine, all these tracks?
- 6:48Is that just experience? Because?
- 6:49He's been doing it all. I mean, when you take those
- 6:52tractor trailers and you come into Martinsville, you come into
- 6:55Bristol, you go into Wilkesboro, there's technique to getting
- 6:59those things in and out of those tight spots.
- 7:01You guys are good at that. I used to tell people I would
- 7:05get so close, I said they'd get a Chinook helicopter and drop a
- 7:08man. For all right guys.
- 7:11Well, coffee time load up and this is your bike.
- 7:16We'll see you in an hour. And a half.
- 7:17See you next week. Bye beautiful.
- 7:21We'll get in the. Van just do a little little bit
- 7:26here real quick. Hold on.
- 7:27I don't want to drop this. Let's go find Kim, see how she's
- 7:30doing. I there she is.
- 7:38Look at that bike. That bike's a bad ass.
- 7:41That's a that's a stock Harley-Davidson took it to Uncle
- 7:45Rusty and Steven at Southern Country Custom.
- 7:48And they get this guy here. He want, he wants a little, he
- 7:51wants to be on the show. I don't even know him.
- 7:53Hey, Kenny, we got. Snowmobile suits on sale.
- 7:55Right now. If you want snow, where they at
- 7:58just down the road a few miles, man, Steve.
- 8:01Well, that's really nice of you buddy, but I'm looking good.
- 8:03Thank you. What's your name, Rod?
- 8:06Rod man just walked up and he said I got the snowmobile suits
- 8:10on sale. I'm like, OK.
- 8:13And this, this right here, this wonderful lady is in charge of
- 8:18all social media. Ellie.
- 8:21Ellie. Yes.
- 8:22And you told me this morning, but I was just getting my eyes
- 8:25open. All right?
- 8:26They're getting their helmets on.
- 8:27I'm getting nervous. Why are you nervous?
- 8:29Because I don't want to be left behind.
- 8:33No one could leave you behind. I love you.
- 8:34No one could forget you. I love you.
- 8:35I love you too. Thank you.
- 8:37All right. Here we go.

- 9:02Can you be seen? Got to be better than that one.
- 9:05I So in Missouri, if you go to take a picture of somebody in
- 9:08Missouri and they're like no, no.
- 9:09The first thing you go is why are you wanted by the police?
- 9:12You can't. All right, we hold my coffee for
- 9:17a minute. Just for a minute.

- 9:22Like. May the Lord be with you.
- 9:26I love you, man. So worse shape.
- 9:29I got Jesus in my pocket. Jesus on your bike.

- 9:53Saw his Garmin, his phone holder.
- 9:57His Garmin. That's 100.
- 9:58How many miles on this baby? Oh, it's low.
- 10:01Mile 5052, 52,000 miles. He rides all over.
- 10:07All right, say goodbye. Turn around.
- 10:09He's doing coffee with Kenny. I am.
- 10:11I got to get this in all right. I finally made one.
- 10:19I watched 100 of them my. Phone.
- 10:21Yeah, thank you for holding my coffee.
- 10:23She. Got Sunoco on.
- 10:24It hey, it should hold say that again.
- 10:27Should have Sunoco on it, should I?
- 10:29I I got a deal in there but no talk.
- 10:31About this. So you get right the next time.
- 10:32Say goodbye. Goodbye.
