- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville, Jaguar, Spain's welcome in to Duval Daily, presented by Genjag.com and fueled by Brass Tax Coffee.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: It is Monday, September 7th.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, it's Labor Day.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: It is two days away from NFL kickoff.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: It is less than a week away from the Jag Wars getting kicked off against the Browns.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: So, over the next couple days, we will be grading the Jag Wars roster.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: Today, I am only putting out one show today.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, it's a holiday, Labor Day.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: So happy Labor Day to everybody out there.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: But did want to get one out there for you today.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: And it's going to be the Jaguar's roster grades for the offensive side of the ball here.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: And so you have quarterback running back while you see we're tied in offensive line.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be grading all of those rooms.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not grading them.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to isolate the players.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: and their skill, their talent level, their grade from the coaching, which is extremely difficult to do because they are being coached by the staff they're being coached by and Liam Cohen and company, really do greatly upgrade the overall talent.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a really kind of a difficult job to try to figure out exactly what a player's grade should be
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: without the impact of coaching.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe that's a fool's errand.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's not how I should think about it.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: But that's what I try to do here.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm also trying not to project what they will be in my mind.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: go off of what we have actually seen to this point, and tangible evidence of what we have seen.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, excited to get into it.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate you all being here.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button.

- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: So quarterback,
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Starting off with the quarterback position, you have Trevor Lawrence, you have Quinnewers, you have Nick Mullins and Joey Ackler.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: You got a, obviously, only two of those guys are on the 53, but Nick Mullins and Joey Ackler doesn't seem like our going anywhere at least for right now.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: So, you have that group of, in your quarterback room right now, you know,
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: I give it an A minus.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: Quinn Ewers, I think, is clearly a talent upgrade for the jag wars, and that is based on what we've actually seen in his starts and in the games that he played last year as a rookie, he has the ability to throw like, odd arm angles off platform, zip the ball to most areas of the field accurately.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think that they have good depth, like they have
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: to have that in Joey Aguilar a little bit too, I think, and obviously you have that vet in Nick Mullins, and then you get to the number one quarterback, the one who's great impacts this the most, and I do have right now Trevor Lawrence at an A minus.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he is very close to potentially being a elite, you know, tier one quarterback, but to me, there's only a couple
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, and then there's Tier II, which is Trevor Lawrence would either be at the bottom of Tier II or at the top of Tier III, there's the Joe Burrows of the World, the Lamar Jackson's.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: He would be for me either at the bottom of that tier or at the top of Tier III, and probably realistically he should be at the top of Tier III in a range with, I'd probably put
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: Prescott, Herbert, players like that.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he would be at the top of that tier for me.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I haven't met as an Aminus.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think he could easily be an A this year.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think he played like an A for the Jaguar is down the stretch last year, but you've also seen some ups and downs throughout the career.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he's trending towards playing like an A.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: But you also have the fact that even though he did lead come back multiple times against the bills and got them in position to win the football game a couple times, there was turnovers in that game.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: That we're just, one of them was a contested throw.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there was probably just too many turnovers in that game.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: And Josh Allen,
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: arguably the best quarterback in the league to me.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: I still think Patrick Holmes is the best in the league, but Josh Allen is clearly a superstar, unbelievable quarterback.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: He had turnovers in the playoffs too.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it can happen.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to ding him too much, but I think Trevor Lawrence, if he has another year where he plays similarly to the way he did over the back half.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: of a 2025, I think you're definitely talking about a quarterback that is an A or even an A plus.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he was incredible.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: He has all the athletic ability in the world.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: He has great size.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he has really become kind of a master of this offense mentally.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think that you think about his arm, he can throw off platform, he can throw rolling left, which is really impressive.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: He can get the job done with his legs as a runner as well.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you can probably say consistent accuracy could be a little bit improved.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you could probably say accuracy deep down the sideline could be a little bit better too.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's right there and so with having Trevor Lawrence as a minus and then the rest of the room has Your experience coach on the field type of guy your Couple young guys that have talent, so I mean it's a good room It's an a minus It's gonna be I think the Jaguar's quarterback situation is better than most teams in the league.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's for sure
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Then you get to running back, at running back, it's an interesting situation.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: You have basal tootin, Chris Rodriguez, like when Alan might not be healthy for a week one, but he's not on the injured as ever, he'll be back soon.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then obviously, you kept Amirab Dula, who's a good back, but specific undersized vet, but still really quick and can do some things for you.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I put them out of B-, like basically like an 80-flat, um, I would, I would probably put it's difficult because like we have seen Tutan play.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen him be a high-success rate runner.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen Chris Rodriguez play, we've seen him be a high-success rate runner, we've seen
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: really good pass pro and receiving back and I'm not just saying play in training camp and I'm saying in the regular season we've seen these guys do these things but I think they're all being asked to take on a bigger role.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: than what we've seen so far.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Basel Tutan could very easily end up looking like a B or a B plus even.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think Chris Rodriguez, you could say the same thing.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: But they are being asked to take on bigger roles.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Tutan, you want to see him look a little bit more creative.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, using the jump cuts and his ability to get into the open field and run away from people because he is so fast.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't see that much as a rookie.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, opportunities were fairly limited.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've got it like at an 80 flat.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think you could look at the end of the season and think that that was probably right about close to what it should be.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think it could also be a lot better.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: It would be surprising to me if it was a lot worse, just because the talent is there.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen these guys do it.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now they're just asked to be doing it at a,
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: higher volume.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where I'm at with the running backs and we will get to the wide receivers.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: But first, got a lock in that my booky lock of the season.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's back.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: First one is a no-brainer.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: Patriots in Seattle for NFL kickoff.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: My booky is asking you one simple question, will the Seahawk to raise their championship banner that night and y'all know the answer.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: Of course they will.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: The defending champs home opener.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: Raising the banner before kickoff is part of the celebration.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting that bet at plus money odds.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting paid to say yes.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: The Seahawk's will do the thing the entire night is built
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: That is the first my book the lock of the season.

- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: This is one where we're talking about what they have actually done, not what they could be.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then the most interesting ones here are Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Because what Brian Thomas Jr. has actually done.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: unbelievable rookie year, very disappointing sophomore season that was, you know, impacted pretty heavily by playing through injury, this training camp has looked very good.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's a tough one to great.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's a tough player to great because if you would have asked me after his rookie year, I'd probably had him at like a 90.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: and like upward ejector has 90, but you got 90 and on the way up.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: After the last year, I think maybe you're talking about like 77 because the playmaking is there, but like there's just too much inconsistency, speed hasn't gone anywhere.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then what I've seen from him, I think this year, I would probably put him in somewhere in the B range,
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: and potentially rising.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: So kind of a difficult grade for BTJ for Jacobi Myers, squarely a B, like he, good route runner, great hands, tough, smart, just doesn't have, and has good size.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: Just doesn't have elite speed or quickness or game-changing movement ability, basically.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Washington, also an interesting grade, because what I've seen this training camp and offseason combined with what I saw at the end of last year, I mean, I think Parker Washington is like an A minus, like I think he is that good.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: He hasn't proven that over the course of his career, but he had a great training camp last year.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: He had a great year last year, especially back half of the season.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's had a great training camp this year.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's gonna come out and perform like a true widersyver one.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, I think he's gonna be funneled the targets more than BTJ.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: And Jacobie Myers just because he is a dangerous and consistent three-level threat.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's a yak threat.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: He is a contested catch target down the field as well.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I like Parker Washington a lot.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe I'm over-valuing.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: What I've seen over the last eight months, but I'm in on Parker Washington.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: And then you have Travis Hunter, right?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: What is he as a receiver?
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's a player that has made unbelievable place already as a young player who only played in seven games last year, but he's also going to be playing more at corner.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: How do I evaluate and value what he is to the jack ones receiving room right now?
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's a difficult one.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: And then you throw in.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: I feel very strongly about Josh Cameron.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: And CJ Williams, as you're back into the roster wide receivers.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that dev has to count for something.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Those are good football players.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that the overall makeup of the room
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: greater than the total of its parts, right?
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's so complete.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's so like complimentary, those skill sets of Parker of Jacobi of BTJ and then you throw in Josh Cameron, Travis Hunter, CJ Williams, I've got it as an A-minus.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was performing that way, down the stretch last year, I think it's better than it was down the stretch last year again,
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Cameron, CJ Williams, you did not have those guys last year, and I think BTJ has settled into a point where he's playing a lot better than he was down the stretch last year.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I've got them out of an A minus.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: So so far at quarterback, we've got an A minus at running back, we've got a B minus at wide receiver, we've got an A minus at tight end.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: We have got a B right in the middle B.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: Britain's strange to me is at B plus A minus type of player.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: Really, really talented receiver, explosive receiver at the tide and position, a yak threat.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: So many who can come down with contested catches as well.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody who can get open, create mismatches being moved around.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's also a good blocker, a devastating blocker at times.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody who can kind of take the will out of your opponent, the same way Laquant Allen can in past pro.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I love him.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: But when you look at the tie-in position beyond that, I think the rest of the room lowers the grade a little bit simply because of the fact that we have not seen Nate Borkerture yet, right?
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: We have not seen Tanner Coziel yet.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: Quentin Morris, we know, is a, you know,
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: contributor at Titan, but kind of a bottom of the roster type of guy.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: So, and like, I don't, I like Windmorse.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a good player for his role, but I think that I just need to see more from Borkercher and Koziel before I can write this room until like a B plus A minus type of room.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you have from Britain Strange, but the rest of the room is a little bit lower for me.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: And so I have them as a solid B right now, which again, if Borker chair comes out and he can take care of business as a blocker.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: And he shows like what we've seen in limited sample sizes throughout his college career and so far for the Jaguars and training camp practice, which is like quality hands decent route running, then yeah, that this can be quickly elevated and we know what Tanner cozyals potential is as a receiving tight end.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: It could quickly be elevated, but again, we're going based off of what we've seen right now.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: So I have it as a B.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: offensive line.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: This was a somewhat difficult one to do as well because you have Colvand Lannan coming off of a knee injury.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: Is he even healthy ready for week one yet?
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to find out probably until Game Day, until the injury report comes out.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: Is he playing?
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: Is he not playing?
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: Even if he's playing, he might not
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: He might not start, he might be a break-class in case of emergency type of situation.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: I would guess he would probably be in line to start week two, but don't want to put the
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: I would have him as a solid B. I would have Anton Harrison as high B flirting with a B plus right now.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: I would have as a Cleveland as a solid B. I would have a manual pregnant on.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting, right?
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting one.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: You also have a lot of musical chairs.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harrison switching from right tackle to left tackle, Colvin Lannon switching from left tackle to right
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: uh... as a Cleveland moving from left guard to right guard does that have an impact uh... manual pregnant or rookie entering the fold i think he's a really good player but he's still a rookie it's like i haven't really seen everything i need to see to have like a fair evaluation there and then with Robert handsy even though he has like the leadership in the communication and
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: I still think he's like a sea, honestly, a center, sea for center.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so that puts me like right at this, I mean, I did the numerical grade here.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's an 80, so that's a B- minus.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think it could be better than that.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: It could be worse than that.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: Colby and Lina is not healthy.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: Then you talk about Walker a little being in there, then I think you're talking about a C offensive line.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think the difference right now between Colvin, Lannon, and Walker a little is pretty massive.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: And Walker a little's still a good backup, but he should be a backup right now the way he's been playing.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: He is not this guy that I think after the season, he's in a contract years, and less things drastically change when he's on the field this year.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he looks like he's in line to get a guaranteed starting job somewhere.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe competing for a starting job on an offensive line that needs a lot of help, but I do not think he's locked in to start somewhere else.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think if he was a trade would have happened already.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I like him as depth.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: I would like to keep it that way, but I think he might end up starting in week one.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: the depth that you have with, with, uh, Jonah Monheim, Wyatt Milum, I know Wyatt Milum's received a lot of flag, but I still think he's a fine depth player who could have sinned, um, you know, given more opportunity.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, you obviously have Daniel Falele, which, like, I think that's fine depth as well.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: Very experienced player in the room.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, they like him more at guard.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: He could be an emergency tackle as well if they needed, um,
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then you have, you know, potentially at some point Patrick McCary coming back for the jag wars on their offensive line.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I think they, their depth is actually one of the strengths of the offensive line.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: But even with that depth, like if you lose a starter, you are having a big fall off.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's just the nature of the beast.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think you're having a fall off to the point where it's like,
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: can we function?
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're still going to be able to function in most such settings and situations with the group that they currently have even if there's an injury or too.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: But there's also going to be games where, like, I mean, Walker little against the Texans last year was a bloodbath.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: Absolute carnage.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: He had already played them once and did a decent job.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: But when he was playing against him the second time, I mean, Daniel Hunter.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: it was, like I said, it was a blood bath.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: It was crazy.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, offensive line.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: I've added as a B minus right in an 80.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: So, I guess when you take all these grades and combine to them, which I have not done yet, which I should have done already, I apologize.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: A minus for quarterback, so that's like a 90, running back as a B minus, that's an 80.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: Y to C is a minus that's a 90.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: Tidend is a B, we'll put it right at a B5.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive line is a B minus, we'll put that right at a 80.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: That is five position rooms.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's right at a 85 B.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I do think that we'll perform better than a B, because quarterback is the most important position there.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: They're very good at that one.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: Why do Sever is, I mean, they've got a, I think they shot at being one of the very, very top-passing games in football.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: And then you combine it with the fact that Liam Cohen is dialing everything up in.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: and turning the levers and calling the plays, and you've got a really detailed oriented staff with Liam Cohen.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I think the Jack Wars often is gonna be very good, even if on paper right now, I have it as a solid B versus, you know, an A plus.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think they can perform much higher than that numerical grade would indicate.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all for great one.
