- 0:00Speaker 1: So what do you think, I know why I think,
- 0:04Speaker 1: but why do you think God made all of this?
- 0:09Speaker 1: Let's say, now that's another good point. If God did make,
- 0:12Speaker 1: and it's usually believers that I talk to that have
- 0:19Speaker 1: this view that that's not real out there. You know,
- 0:22Speaker 1: what's out there is real. But I'm like, what does
- 0:25Speaker 1: that say about God? I mean, that calls him a deceiver.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I mean, why would he put all this stuff out
- 0:30Speaker 1: there and make it look like it's out there, but
- 0:33Speaker 1: it's not really out there? Why would space be fake,
- 0:37Speaker 1: as they say?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah, go ahead.
- 0:41Speaker 1: No, you're good. Basically, what I was getting at is,
- 0:44Speaker 1: and I'm not trying to mock people's views, obviously, but
- 0:48Speaker 1: to me, when I look up, I just say, wow.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And all you have to do, you don't need to
- 0:52Speaker 1: spend thousands and thousands of dollars on astrophotography gear. I mean,
- 0:58Speaker 1: if you get into it, you will, but, but, but
- 1:02Speaker 1: if you just go outside on a clear night, especially
- 1:07Speaker 1: now it's starting to get clear and cool outside, just
- 1:11Speaker 1: look up and, and the more light that comes in,
- 1:14Speaker 1: if you just, you don't have to just glance up
- 1:16Speaker 1: and go, that's cool. And go inside, you know, just
- 1:18Speaker 1: stand there for five minutes and you you'll see, you'll
- 1:21Speaker 1: see more and more and more of just things out
- 1:25Speaker 1: there that, You know, why did he make this galaxy
- 1:30Speaker 1: that no one's probably ever going to see? You know,
- 1:33Speaker 1: or maybe, you know, it's just these things out there
- 1:37Speaker 1: are just, there's more to discover. I don't know. I
- 1:39Speaker 1: can't really describe it without losing what words I'm saying.
- 1:43Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:43Speaker 3: But yeah. Well, I say this often because, you know,
- 1:47Speaker 3: whenever I travel around and speak at conferences, I always
- 1:50Speaker 3: give a five-minute Psalm 19 update.
- 1:55Speaker 2: And I show, you know, a handful of pictures.
- 1:58Speaker 3: And what I share with people is again, the heavens
- 2:01Speaker 3: declare the glory of God and the skies above show
- 2:05Speaker 3: forth his handiwork.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And so I.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Think about there's, the Bible is not an astronomy textbook,
- 2:12Speaker 3: but it does, it does beckon us to look up
- 2:17Speaker 3: to the heavens. Several times he did it to Abraham,
- 2:21Speaker 3: look up at, I remember the stars and, see all
- 2:24Speaker 3: those stars. And we know that in a good dark sky,
- 2:27Speaker 3: which he would have seen back in ancient times, you know,
- 2:30Speaker 3: you can see between 5,000 and 6,000 stars with the
- 2:33Speaker 3: naked eye, depending on how good your eyesight.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Is and stuff like that. So he's like, you see
- 2:38Speaker 2: all those, you can't even count them. Um, good luck. Um,
- 2:42Speaker 2: that's your descendants are going to be far more than that.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It's like, Oh wow. I don't even have any descendants.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I'll be gone. I'm just, I'm one is great.
- 2:48Speaker 1: You know?
- 2:48Speaker 3: And so, but we see in Psalm eight, um, David
- 2:53Speaker 3: is the one who wrote Psalm 19 about the heavens.
- 2:57Speaker 2: And, uh, and then he talks about their message.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Their voice goes out, uh, their voice, like, but they
- 3:04Speaker 3: don't speak, but they have a voice, which means they're
- 3:07Speaker 3: communicating something that he's, he's obviously speaking poetically. And what
- 3:10Speaker 3: are they communicating? They're communicating the glory of God, his handiwork.
- 3:15Speaker 3: And so in Psalm 8, he addresses this again. He says,
- 3:19Speaker 3: Oh Lord, when I When I look up and I
- 3:21Speaker 3: see the sun and the moon and all the stars,
- 3:23Speaker 3: what is mankind that you even care about us? We're
- 3:26Speaker 3: so small and insignificant in comparison to all of that.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Wow.
- 3:30Speaker 3: And so what we see, there's several times when we
- 3:36Speaker 3: look out, Psalm 103 tells us that God says, as
- 3:42Speaker 3: high as the heavens are above the earth, so is
- 3:46Speaker 3: my hesed, my love, my steadfast love, towards those who
- 3:50Speaker 3: fear me. And God is trying to say, and as
- 3:53Speaker 3: you mentioned earlier, from the east to the west, he's
- 3:55Speaker 3: in the same passage talking about our sins, but there
- 3:58Speaker 3: he's using east and west, but the other one he's
- 4:00Speaker 3: using the heavens. And he's like, do you understand that
- 4:04Speaker 3: the heavens can't, what's the distance between that farthest galaxy
- 4:08Speaker 3: and earth, or even our galaxy? Our brains can't measure it.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And he says, that's how my love is towards you. Or,
- 4:18Speaker 3: You look at Isaiah 55, as high as the heavens
- 4:21Speaker 3: are above the earth, so is my ways, not your ways.
- 4:24Speaker 3: So you begin to go the old Rich Mullins song,
- 4:29Speaker 3: you know, the wisdom, power, and love, right?
- 4:31Speaker 2: How our God is an awesome God, you know?
- 4:33Speaker 3: And I think what a beautiful illustration, because we know
- 4:38Speaker 3: Romans 1 tells us that the creation, he's talking about everything,
- 4:42Speaker 3: shows us his power and divine nature so that mankind
- 4:46Speaker 3: is without excuse.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So you have power.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Psalm 103, you have love. And then in Isaiah 55,
- 4:51Speaker 3: you have wisdom. So you have wisdom, power, and love
- 4:53Speaker 3: all how?
- 4:55Speaker 2: By the heavens.
- 4:56Speaker 3: So to me, it's a beautiful representation of his divine nature,
- 5:00Speaker 3: his attributes, that when we look out, and I love
- 5:04Speaker 3: to show this too, is the ability to create all
- 5:06Speaker 3: these things. Genesis 116, he created the sun and the moon,
- 5:10Speaker 3: and oh yeah, and all the stars also. Well, how
- 5:13Speaker 3: many stars are there? Well, you know, one times 10
- 5:16Speaker 3: with 24 zeros. And he just simply spoke it in
- 5:19Speaker 3: a moment. And then we have the artistry. We already
- 5:22Speaker 3: showed the pictures. These things are beautiful. The colors that
- 5:26Speaker 3: are natural based on the gases. We know this because
- 5:30Speaker 3: we use different filters to pull out different colors. And
- 5:33Speaker 3: we know that the gases glow at certain frequencies or
- 5:36Speaker 3: certain wavelengths.
- 5:39Speaker 2: And so you see his artistry, you see his creativity.
- 5:43Speaker 3: So the question is, and I tell people, listen, The
- 5:49Speaker 3: heavens declare the glory of God, and we are the
- 5:51Speaker 3: first few generations. We saw it in 1890. From 1890 on,
- 5:57Speaker 3: we are the first people in human history that have
- 6:00Speaker 3: had the ability to take pictures of these things. So
- 6:03Speaker 3: all these things, the angels have seen them, but humanity
- 6:07Speaker 3: has never got to see these things.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And why did God do it? Just simply because he could.
- 6:10Speaker 2: He's showing off.
- 6:11Speaker 3: And it's no different than I tell people, think about
- 6:13Speaker 3: all the amazing, weird, cool creatures in the oceans. never
- 6:18Speaker 3: seen before until the modern age why did he create
- 6:21Speaker 3: him because he could.
- 6:23Speaker 1: And whether it's like.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Yeah he likes beauty at the micro level or at
- 6:27Speaker 3: the macro level and so this is what i tell
- 6:29Speaker 3: people too is these people that say all that stuff
- 6:31Speaker 3: is fake i go whoa whoa don't you dare steal
- 6:36Speaker 3: god's glory every time you minimize the pictures that we're
- 6:42Speaker 3: taking or the expansiveness of his universe the the you
- 6:47Speaker 3: are stealing his glory.
- 6:49Speaker 2: And you're going to answer for that.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I'm not saying you're not saved, but on that day,
- 6:53Speaker 3: God's going to be like, Matthew 12, 36, we're going
- 6:56Speaker 3: to give an account for every idle word we speak.
- 6:58Speaker 3: So to me, if I think of a dome, and
- 7:01Speaker 3: you know, the flat earthers, like how high is a dome? Well,
- 7:05Speaker 3: we don't really know. Yeah, because they don't really do science, okay?
- 7:08Speaker 3: Like true genuine science, not NASA science, but true genuine science.
- 7:11Speaker 3: They're like, well, it's 10,000 miles up. The dome's up there,
- 7:14Speaker 3: the sun and the moon are below it.
- 7:15Speaker 2: And you're like, 10,000 miles, that's it.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I mean, the Andromeda is 2 million light years away,
- 7:21Speaker 3: which times 6 trillion miles.
- 7:24Speaker 2: And that's the closest one. So you start looking at.
- 7:27Speaker 3: The expansive nature of the universe, and our minds are like,
- 7:31Speaker 3: our brains don't even calculate this. To go to, at
- 7:34Speaker 3: the speed of light, 186,000 miles a second. it would
- 7:38Speaker 3: take us four years to get to the nearest star.
- 7:40Speaker 3: You think, well, what does that really mean? Well, if
- 7:42Speaker 3: we flew the rocket ship, the fastest a man-made rocket
- 7:46Speaker 3: has gone, it would take us 114,000 years to get
- 7:50Speaker 3: to the nearest star, going at 30,000 miles an hour.
- 7:55Speaker 2: It's, what?
- 7:56Speaker 3: 100,000? Yeah, just to get to the nearest star. We
- 7:58Speaker 3: haven't got to the galaxy yet. We haven't got to
- 8:00Speaker 3: the neighborhood yet. So God is amazing. And to me,
- 8:04Speaker 3: what gives God more glory?
- 8:06Speaker 2: 10,000 miles or.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Trillions and trillions and trillions that, again, I'm not fabricating this.
- 8:13Speaker 2: One of them I can grasp.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Numbers we can't. We don't have words for.
- 8:17Speaker 2: No, we don't. We don't have the capacity.
- 8:19Speaker 3: And that's more reflective of God's omnipotence and transcendence. We're
- 8:27Speaker 3: a finite little puny little brain. And he's like, don't
- 8:31Speaker 3: think you can grasp me. You can't even grasp the
- 8:35Speaker 3: universe that you live in. or even the local galaxy
- 8:37Speaker 3: or even your star, how far away it is, the
- 8:40Speaker 3: nearest star.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah. And then, and then when you realize that the
- 8:44Speaker 1: stars we can see are the ones close to us,
- 8:48Speaker 1: the ones close to us, the ones in our galaxy.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I mean, if you, when you see galaxies, you're seeing stars,
- 8:54Speaker 1: you're not seeing little points of light you're seeing, you know? So,
- 8:56Speaker 1: I mean, it, yeah, can't comprehend it. It's just, you
- 9:01Speaker 1: just got to look at it and go, wow.
- 9:04Speaker 2: So, God's magnificent. His wisdom, power, and love are demonstrated,
- 9:08Speaker 2: and we are without excuse.
