- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So often we on this podcast, we talk about our focus and we talk
- 0:35about how important focus is. But the real reason for that,
- 0:39the real end all be all of why we do that is because we have to
- 0:44control our focus and we have to know that what we focus on
- 0:48brings about more of it in our lives.
- 0:51So when you keep talk, when you keep focusing on what's wrong
- 0:56and you keep talking about what's wrong, you keep
- 0:59manifesting what's wrong because it just gives it more energy and
- 1:03it exacerbates it and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger
- 1:06and bigger. You know, years ago, I was
- 1:10working on the road and somebody left a book at a table.
- 1:14And I thought this book was so fascinating because the name of
- 1:17it was how to Improve Your Marriage without talking about
- 1:20it. I mean, doesn't that just sound
- 1:21like the most amazing thing to read?
- 1:23Like, OK, we're not going to talk about it yet.
- 1:25It's going to get better. Well, when I got the book and I
- 1:27actually read it, I was like this, this is brilliant because
- 1:31it takes away so much of the negativity.
- 1:34And that's often what happens when you're in these situations.
- 1:38You're coming at it from your position.
- 1:40You want to defend your position.
- 1:42So naturally, because you want to protect your position and
- 1:46defend it, you keep talking about what's wrong and it keeps
- 1:49going over and over and over. Well, the problem with talking
- 1:52about what's wrong is that it grows bigger and bigger and
- 1:55bigger. This is a big reason why
- 1:57marriage counseling rarely works because you go and you drive and
- 2:00you spend an hour talking about the problem and you don't leave
- 2:04with a solid solution, but you clearly know what you don't like
- 2:07in the other person and in the situation that's there.
- 2:10And then you leave and you're sent home alone together.
- 2:13And so we all know the statistics on does marriage
- 2:16counselling work and they're really not great.
- 2:19So this core message is from that.
- 2:22This core message is, hey, listen, when you talk about
- 2:25what's wrong, you manifest what's really wrong even more.
- 2:29And you're the sad part of this is you're missing the real
- 2:33message in it all because when things show up and they're not
- 2:36good, they are meant to give you information.
- 2:39And you have to decide what you're going to do with that
- 2:42information. Are you going to utilize it to
- 2:44help yourself move forward or are you going to keep it the way
- 2:47that it is so that you can defend your position, make sure
- 2:51you're right? Are you with the other person
- 2:54and 'cause even more issues? I mean that that is in a
- 2:58nutshell, the most important part of this podcast today.
- 3:03You have to make a decision if it's important to defend your
- 3:06position or is it important to move forward?
- 3:09Is it important to find happiness?
- 3:11Is it important to focus on the message of what's wrong so you
- 3:16know what to repair, fix, look at, explore whatever words you
- 3:21want to use, but not sit there and keep focused on it from a
- 3:26position of really trying to stack, stack, stack, stack,
- 3:30stack all the stuff that's wrong because that's not going to help
- 3:33you. You already know what's wrong.
- 3:34You don't need more evidence of it.
- 3:36And that's all it is. Remember, emotions are here to
- 3:39give us information and the more information we have, the more we
- 3:42can do with it. So this comes down to you being
- 3:45very smart, very clear and very honest with yourself about what
- 3:50you're going to focus on. So you'd understand, hey, I am
- 3:54not going to keep talking about what's wrong.
- 3:57I'm not going to keep going it over it and over it and over it
- 3:59and over it in my head. The more I talk about it, the
- 4:02more I give it life. The more I talk about it, the
- 4:05more this becomes a big thing. The more I see this, the more it
- 4:10grows. That is what's so important
- 4:13about this. It's that you're killing the
- 4:15monster while it's small. Don't let it take over in your
- 4:18head. Don't let those things eat you
- 4:20up. And if you're not qualified in
- 4:22those moments to to just say, OK, I can discern what it's
- 4:25trying to give me for information, then you simply say
- 4:28to yourself, OK, right now I'm too heated, I'm too irritated.
- 4:32I can't make a judgement on this.
- 4:34So I'm going to put it aside. I'm going to put this in neutral
- 4:37for right now and I'm going to come back to it when I am in a
- 4:40better state of mind because I'm not qualified to make a decision
- 4:44about it right now. And that to me is the most
- 4:47powerful thing that we can do is putting it in that perspective.
- 4:52So I hope that that makes sense to you guys.
- 4:55I hope you utilize this and I hope you have an incredibly
- 4:58blessed day that is giving you information and you're letting
- 5:02go of the irritation. All right, my friends have a
- 5:05great one. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
- 5:06Bye.
