  Speaker 4: two guys I was really attached to, and they kind

  Speaker 4: of had me playing basketball pretty much. I called it

  Speaker 4: all three sports baseball, basketball, and football, and used to

  Speaker 4: play through the boys club. You know, they kind of
• 4:50
  Speaker 4: got me going, and you know, I guess they saw
• 4:52
  Speaker 4: a little something in me and just kept pushing it,
• 4:55
  Speaker 4: you know, and I really enjoyed playing, so kept going,
• 4:58
  Speaker 4: kept going at it.

  Speaker 5: Quick question for you. I know obviously you had Jeffrey Move.

  Speaker 5: What was the biggest differences between that game around that

  Speaker 4: that we couldn't do back in my day. I mean,

  Speaker 4: a travel was going to be two steps. Anything funny

  Speaker 4: a turnover because they were going to call travel on that.

  Speaker 4: And so you were kind of limited in some of

  Speaker 4: those things that you could try because we were kind of,

  Speaker 4: you know, prehistoric with that. But now all of those

  Speaker 4: things are you know, they've elevated to a whole nother level.

  Speaker 4: So that's probably the biggest difference in what I see

  Speaker 5: great high school career Indiana All Star. Let's talk about

  Speaker 4: Well, I know that at that time, I was being

  Speaker 4: recruited pretty heavily. I know, uh Boston. My brother went

  Speaker 4: to Boston University and Rick Petinda was the head coach there,

  Speaker 4: and uh, I know he came to see us play
• 8:44
  Speaker 4: after my brother kind of talked about the kind of
• 8:47
  Speaker 4: support we had, you know, coming out of high school.
• 8:50
  Speaker 4: But I ended up going to uh McDonald's All Star
• 8:54
  Speaker 4: game was like that, it was the.

  Speaker 7: One I played.
• 8:58
  Speaker 4: It wasn't it wasn't a time twenty four Okay, granted,

  Speaker 4: granted now it was the one behind it. And you

  Speaker 4: know what, you you always want this for your kids, right,

  Speaker 4: you always want them to do better than you. So

  Speaker 4: since I went to the second when I wanted to

  Speaker 4: go to the first one, so Marcus was able to

  Speaker 4: get that done. So though, well, yeah, you didn't make that.

  Speaker 4: another UH player that went to Missouri along with me

  Speaker 4: that we played in that particular McDonald's game together. His

  Speaker 4: name was Richie Johnson. He was supposed to be a six',

  Speaker 4: nine well he was six nine sixt' nine point guard
• 9:54
  Speaker 4: and he played At New albany uh and he was
• 9:57
  Speaker 4: going to go To missouri as, well and uh but

  Speaker 4: as a point. Guard AND i know that when we

  Speaker 4: played That All star game, TOGETHER i just kind of,

  Speaker 4: saw you, know a little difference in. THAT i just

  Speaker 4: thought THAT i COULD i could challenge for that position

  Speaker 4: And missouri was coming at me pretty good at that.

  Speaker 4: Time and, NO N i ls at that, Time no

  Speaker 4: N i, Right, no.

  Speaker 6: That was a hundred years.

  Speaker 4: Ago that scholarship was all that you could be asking

  Speaker 4: for and hoping for.

  Speaker 5: It so was it any other school that you was

  Speaker 4: Uh not really THAT i was thinking about committing. TO

  Speaker 4: mid major schools that they were kind of. In the

  Speaker 4: Hunt Ball state was one of them as, well being.

  Speaker 4: Home BUT i know that night came and talked to,

  Speaker 4: me and, uh that was an interesting conversation put up on.

  Speaker 4: Uh he just asked, me do you want to play AT?

  Speaker 4: Iu AND i was just kind of, like you, know

  Speaker 4: real hesitant about that. One and it was, like well

  Speaker 4: that's my. Answer then he was, gone, no he didn't

  Speaker 4: have time to. Play so but, No, MISSOURI i was

  Speaker 4: really uh you, know really looking strong at that, one
• 11:21
  Speaker 4: AND i really liked. That so that's WHERE i ended up.

  Speaker 6: Going, okay obviously you uh while you.

  Speaker 4: Leave, yeah, well you, KNOW i call it like it,

  Speaker 4: is and it, was you, know basically being spoiled coming

  Speaker 4: a year and you, KNOW i played well At. Missouri

  Speaker 4: it WAS i THINK i ended up starting like twenty

  Speaker 4: one out of the thirty two games that we, played

  Speaker 4: and BUT i went home over the summer AND i

  Speaker 4: just you know made a decision THAT i was going

  Speaker 4: to be moving on me And Norm. Stewart you, know

  Speaker 4: it was a good. Relationship it was, okay he was you,
• 11:55
  Speaker 4: KNOW i JUST i probably didn't do the things THAT
• 11:58
  Speaker 4: i needed to do and just being spoil coming out

  Speaker 4: of high. School so it wasn't anything to do with
• 12:02
  Speaker 4: him or the school at all because it was a great,
• 12:04
  Speaker 4: situation BUT i just.

  Speaker 7: Felt like you ain't getting enough.

  Speaker 4: Love like, NO i THOUGHT i really. Was and it

  Speaker 4: was just me kind of making my own, decision doing

  Speaker 4: my own thing coming out of high. School so it

  Speaker 4: wasn't LIKE, i you, know had a lot of basketball
• 12:19
  Speaker 4: minds behind me and you, know the academic piece and
• 12:21
  Speaker 4: all that. STUFF i was just kind of making decisions
• 12:24
  Speaker 4: on the fly on my, own and you, know just
• 12:27
  Speaker 4: wasn't mature enough to handle that piece at that. Time
• 12:29
  Speaker 4: and SO i made a decision to kind of move,
• 12:32
  Speaker 4: on and it happened over that.

  Speaker 5: Summer so you make that move To. Boston between those
• 12:40
  Speaker 5: the head, coach how was he as a head?

  Speaker 4: Coach, WELL i know WHEN i first got, there he

  Speaker 4: was welcome arms AND i tell you he was, like,

  Speaker 4: hey glad to have you. Here but let me tell you, Something,

  Speaker 4: the side you left. From and so WHAT i liked

  Speaker 4: about him was he was real about everything that he.

  Speaker 4: Stated but he went to back for his, players and you,

  Speaker 4: know he just he wanted you to be you, know you,

  Speaker 4: know boys turned into young, men and so he held

  Speaker 4: You but the thing that he did that was so

  Speaker 4: good for us was that he made all the small

  Speaker 4: things in the game be big. THINGS i, mean somebody

  Speaker 4: could score thirty points and he wouldn't put a whole

  Speaker 4: lot of attention behind. That he would put it behind

  Speaker 4: who took, charges you, know who played certain style of,

  Speaker 4: defense who you know took charges and you, know dove

  Speaker 4: after loose, balls and he really highlighted those. Things so

  Speaker 4: it made you want to really do, it you. Know

  Speaker 4: so he had a way to play inside your head

  Speaker 4: that you, know made you really effective for the team

  Speaker 4: and made you enjoy what you were.

  Speaker 4: all these little basketballs and your making like you're shooting

  Speaker 4: that you, know, man you know he likes doing. This

  Speaker 4: so it was easy to coach that for. Sure not

  Speaker 4: that he always wanted to be coached by, me because

  Speaker 4: neither one. MEN i THINK i can't tell you how

  Speaker 4: Luck he was a very tough. Coach he was a

  Speaker 4: tough coach because the thing is that he actually wanted

  Speaker 4: i think he was the Youngest division one coach at that,

  Speaker 4: was easy to be able to, like you, know fall

  Speaker 4: into that challenge with. Him and he would get in

  Speaker 4: there and he'd play against us and elbow us and

  Speaker 4: knock us. Around but you, KNOW i always felt like

  Speaker 4: that was my chance to get back at him, Too

  Speaker 4: so you, know but he was you, know he was

  Speaker 4: no pride baby when he stepped on the, floor so

  Speaker 4: he would go at you and expect you to come

  Speaker 4: back at, him and when you did, that you, know

  Speaker 4: he really had a lot of respect for. That and

  Speaker 4: you KNOW i respected him for that because he was.

  Speaker 4: Demanding but you, know he was fair and he expected to,

  Speaker 4: win expected to. Win so just a really good player

  Speaker 4: and a great. Motivator he was just a great, motivator great.
