- Catie: Welcome back to From Nine to Mom. Danielle: Where we discuss balancing the nine to five hustle with the beautiful chaos that we call motherhood. Catie: it's been a really good adaptation I feel from book to screen. So I'm really excited and I really need you to read the Windy City series before it gets pick well, it's picked up. They're like in the process of script writing right now. Really wish we had like an intro, like we need somebody to like make us a little jingle for the beginning. Danielle: Yes. Yeah, I do think we need a jingle or something because whenever we listen to like the toast or something, I get jealous. I wish we could sing a jingle. Picked up. Catie: We would probably be like Claudia and Jackie where like they have to auto tune me so much to like get it done. ⁓ we would sound that would be me. ⁓ that's funny. Danielle: Okay, so I definitely need to read it sooner because I don't like seeing spoilers online ⁓ like Yeah. Ha ha ha. Catie: Read it before they cast people. Danielle: So I just yes, cause then it's over for me because like even even reading the books though, I'm glad that I kind of stayed away from it because Dean is like, Dean's my man. But like We would sound amazing. It'd be so good. We should try it. That's on my bucket list. You know, I have that bucket list of forty things to do in my fortieth year and recording a song is one of them. And for those of you who don't know me, and for those of you who do know me, I can't sing well. I sing constantly, but not well. But I'm convinced that if I just get in a studio, I don't care if it's the dumbest song in the world. Like I need to do it. It has to happen. Catie: But like you got to picture like before and then you got to see who it was. Yeah. I do prefer that, like where you can read the book and put your own brain to what you think they look like. Danielle: Yeah. Yeah, because now like when I read Tucker's story, to be honest, like Tucker it like I don't want to ruin it for anybody, but like I don't think know like everybody's type is different, but like Tucker is not like his fist the guy that cast him is not at all what I pictured him to look like. So I'm having a really hard time like enjoying it the same way. Catie: My clip. If I would have read the book after I saw that, I wouldn't have been able like it would be a do not complete. Danielle: Yeah, like it it's a tough one for me, you know, 'cause I'm reading like the later books now. Catie: Mm-hmm. And I don't know, do you know what the this is a major spoiler for anyone that's like reading them? ⁓ do you know what the like trope of the book is? Danielle: Spoiler alert. ⁓ yeah. Catie: Okay. So it's just not my favorite. Well, I just said we just said spoilers. So that we gave you a lot of time to turn it or skip ahead, but it's accidental pregnancy and I hate that in a book. Danielle: Well, I don't wanna ruin it. Catie: So this weekend, Father's Day, what are the plans for dad over there? Danielle: ⁓ Well I just like I Father's Day is always such an interesting one because it's like the opposite of Mother's Day. Like they don't want to be with the kids. They book their own tea time in my household. So all the men book their own tea time. So they're going to golf and then we're going to my brother's house and cooking out and just keeping it casual. They want to play golf, watch golf, live golf. What about you? Yeah. Well, and then it's like and then they're together and she still makes it this is why. This is why we love these books though, is because they make us feel good. Like there's hope, right? Like she still completes law school. She still she still becomes this gets all the job offers she wants. Like not just the one, like 80 of them. And then they meet this couple and she gets her dream. Like it's like that doesn't always happen for people. And it's like also like then it's Catie: Mm. Yeah. this year it's interesting because Ryan can't really golf because we have a birthday party and that it hard for him and the team. Yeah. Danielle: That's interesting. Like birthday parties on holidays is intra like Daisy's birthday's on New Year's Day and it is a little weird but 'cause people are planning for Father's Day. But if you have a birthday in the middle of the day. The end of the series, which I love the series, but I love the like I love the fact that it's like friend love. Like there's it's boy love like relationships, friendship, love. Like I love the whole thing. But you know when sometimes like a series goes a little too long and then it's like too happily ever after, like then you're like this no. Catie: I feel like there's two sides to it. One is like ⁓ you hope no one comes, right? 'Cause it's on the holiday. You're like, ⁓ we invited everyone and they can't come. Darn. it's like there's only so many weekends, like what do you do? Danielle: Yeah. Catie: So that's what I have found in the second series of it. So this was off campus. Then there's Briar U. There's five four more books. So that's where like Hunt Hunter has his own book later on. I haven't gotten to it yet. So I'm like, I started that one and I'm like, okay, this is like over and over again. Danielle: Yep. That that's what I'm reading, is Briar Yo. You have to do it. Like the it's true. There's just not enough time. You plan it when you can plan it. And when it works for your family and whoever comes, comes. Like that's the reality of it. Catie: That's how you can do. We I confirmed there's a big group of us going. So I mean it will be fun, but it's definitely not centered around dad, which ⁓ well. And the worst part is is that I'm ⁓ making Ryan put together we got a group gift for the one-year-old party. We got one of those kitchen sets, like the step two two step or step two kitchen set. Go to gifts, like for first birthdays. I everyone in my life. Danielle: Yeah, and it's like I I don't know, I just never want the image of Allie and Dean dancing to J Lo to leave my mind and like the thought of them getting older and boring like me just it ruins it for me. You know what I mean? Like I'm sorry, like Catie: And being parents. Like the there's another whole series of them being parents. Yeah. It does. So really excited thrilling updates on that end. Any other good movies, things that you're watching? Danielle: Yeah. I know exactly what you're talking about, but I don't know what Catie: that has had one. It's been like the gift that's in their playroom till they're like five. I feel like for you it was the gift you always gave people was the little food truck from Target, which we still use. Yeah. Danielle: I'm watching that shrill. And then I am there's like so many things. I'm watching a good girl's guide to murder, the season, second season, because I read those books and I loved them. and it's the girl from ⁓ if watch Wednesday, that's like the actress that is played by ⁓ that is Pip. and then ⁓ so I that. I'm listening. There is a new Dr. Death podcast that came out, and you know I love Dr. Death, so that I'm into that at the moment. but Yes, because everyone I still use it in Colton seven and Daisy's three. Catie: But like and that one's not bad pre like that one's like fifty, sixty bucks. Danielle: Yeah, it's not bad. The kitchens can be a little I I saw my kitchen. Catie: ⁓ mm-hmm. Yep. Thank you. Right? Like they're so good. And yeah, they're a little pricier, but it's a good group gift if that's like the vibe. Danielle: And everyone plays with it no matter what age you are. So, but you're gonna make them put it together before father days. But here's the thing: like, I feel like their expectations are low. Like men want golf. Like, I'm just gonna say it as it is. So sorry, close your ears, little kids. Golf and sex. Like that's what they want. So it's really not that difficult. But then we make it difficult because I'm trying to think of good gifts and what can I get. Catie: Correct. Danielle: Outside of that, I feel like I haven't had time to like do anything cool. I've been so wrapped up. Katie, I've gone to a K-pop event for three weeks in a row. I do want to tell a story on here, really quick, that I told you. I think maybe I didn't. Did I tell you about my popcorn bucket? Where is it? Where'd it go? Right there. Okay. So we go to the BTS live viewing from Busan ⁓ this weekend. And am frantically like, I didn't realize they had merch. You know, you can't have merch and not tell me. So it's a popcorn bucket. It's not that exciting. But like, Catie: Yeah. Let's hear it. I don't think so. Crafts that you can make. So on my the thing I wanted to do, Ryan, please don't listen any further. But he's so nosy he's gonna listen. I wanted to do the thing where you get like a dozen ⁓ golf balls and you have the kids decorate You like you draw like they draw with like Sharpie on them or like I don't know, better ⁓ Sharpie probably on the golf balls and then you like gift them the pack of golf balls with it all written on them. So I feel like we're finally at a craft stage where I can like grab their attention long enough to do that. Yeah. Danielle: Go run out. Like, I was like, the guard, there's guards there, because clearly it was too rowdy. And I'm like, I gotta get this popcorn bucket before the show starts. Like, I'll be right back. And the guy's like, okay. Like he sees me frantically running around. And I cousin texts me and she's like, It's starting. Like, you need to come back. So I run back in. I don't have my popcorn bucket. And he's You did you didn't get it? Like, why didn't you get it? I'm like, it's starting and I don't want to miss anything. And I just, I guess I'll have to do it later. Like, and like frantically go back and sit down. And like five minutes later, this man walks over with. that's cute. I haven't seen that. Yeah. I mean, I think that's really cute. And then it's something that they can use. I'm going to get Jordan, like he's been talking about these melon hats, and they're like seventy dollars a thing. And I was gonna get my dad like this hat that said best, because dads are hard too. They have everything. I get cigars and scotch every year, and it's boring. And then we were gonna do the like best papa by par like stuff, which is so cute. Don't get me wrong, but how many things can I get him? And now of course. Catie: But we'll see. If I had time. Danielle: popcorn and the popcorn bucket and it just like taps my shoulder and says here and gives it to me for free and just gave it to me because he saw like how much I wanted it and how yeah isn't that very nice there are it's reframed my mind. I was like there are the kind people kind souls also my boobs were out but like I think is more because he's kind Catie: So nice. Like a security guard? Or something like something like There are nice people in the world at a BTS concert. Danielle: I've been traveling and I'm traveling tomorrow and like not enough time so I can't customize anything. So I think I'm getting Jordan and my dad like just n nice melon golf hats and calling it a day. Catie: Yeah, I feel like he yeah, if he was at a BTS he prob maybe he thought you were like sixteen. Danielle: He just saw a frantic soul. Catie: Love those hats. I've seen them on a lot of influencers. so definitely ⁓ looking into. ⁓ feel like the gate the like expectations are high for a gift, not because Ryan like expects a gift, but because he did really good for Mother's Day. He got me that the Yeti Camino bag. ⁓ Danielle: Def ⁓ for sure, for sure. I look so young. I look young. I s definitely it's like, ⁓ this poor ⁓ poor sixteen year old girl. Catie: Couldn't get her popcorn buy. Danielle: With her frown lines and Catie: No front lines. Danielle: Yeah, I got ⁓ right there. Well, not as many, thanks, Botox, but it is what it is. But that was like my exciting that's what's going on with me. Any other stuff you're watching other than Love Island fourteen hours a day. That you really wanted. Yeah. And now you're like, Catie: No. Like, ⁓ I gotta get him a good gift because he got but I made it easy. I literally sent him a picture with the gift. He doesn't know what he wants, I have to find it, you know. I got full time commitments between that and ⁓ you know, working and editing podcasts after podcasts. We love it. Well that's that is Danielle: Yeah. ⁓ Catie: Well he wants like a new golf club or something and I'm like, No, we're not doing new golf clubs. Danielle: after podcast. It's so fun. Yeah, so nothing too exciting. I'll have more to say next week, I guess, after I get back, I'm going to we're me and my girls are doing our fortieth birthday trip the following weekend. So that'll be fun. Fifteen hundred dollars later. Catie: The amount of times in the last like five to six years that we've gone through golf club sets, it's like how you're not gonna buy the brand new set. So like what are we doing? How much Yeah. Big fortieth. Well, quick episode today, but we have a lot of exciting things coming up for the rest of the month and going into summer. We have a lot of cool guests lined up and things. So make sure that you're subscribed to our email because we're going to have most of the sneak peeks and some fun links and things in there. And I think it's time to clock out and clock back into the night. We'll see you guys next time. Danielle: I know I feel like we talked about this like either last year or the year before, like about golf clubs. Jordan definitely remember he bought them. It was a we Jordan's was a weird situation. It's just, you know, I want to do something nice, but they also want to do exactly what they want to do. And sometimes I just feel like when we do too much, then it ends up not being what they wanted. It's like what we think we would want or what like I'm just gonna let them chill and like make them not but I did see the TikTok that I wanna remake. So if you see us make remake this. Clock again. Catie: Yeah. Danielle: Kudos to the girl who made it. She made a TikTok saying, like, for Father's Day, I'm gonna videotape myself doing all the things that my husband does on a daily basis. And she took the garbage out to the thing and she's like, Well, that's it. And the TikTok ended and I was dying laughing. Our husbands do more than that, but it's just a funny, you know. Catie: It is, yeah. We we always appreciate the dads. I mean, we are living in a world where dads are a lot different. And I feel like we're both in that stage too, where like they're just so much more involved than like the previous generation and that. But yeah, Father's Day days a tough one. But so you got a lot of travel coming up. You'll be home you're coming home in time though, right? Danielle: Yeah. Yes, I'll be home s I take the red eye Friday night, get home Saturday morning. I've had my aunt and cousin here all week, which I love, but I just I honestly just feel like I am running ragged constantly right now. I'm not like like I'm unpacking just to re wash the things and repack. And honestly, that's what's giving me anxiety right now is I want to hang out with my family who's here, and they making all these plans that like are literally the exact opposite of what I can do. And then I show and they're like, Well, we're gonna go do this now. But like the kids can't come. So then I'm like, Okay, bye. So I'm having anxiety that like I'm not gonna see them, but also the fact that like packing wise, I've worn I've traveled so much back to back, I have to dry clean and I don't have anything to wear. And I leave tomorrow morning at eight. So Catie: Yeah, I feel like it's the common problem for you every time is like a mass panic. Danielle: I didn't return my newly on time. I didn't get my dry cleaning because I've only been home for fifteen seconds. So I'm gonna go naked this time. Catie: Yeah? I mean it's an all women's event though, so about seller, yeah, I don't know. Danielle: You know. Yeah, like what it's empowerment. Like I just go in and I like am watching ⁓ this is a complete like derailment, but I'm watching the show with the girl from I don't know how I got into this. My mom was watching it. I walked in late. It's called Shrill. She's from Saturday Live and it's about women and like women empowerment. And the whole thing is like she's a bigger woman and she's trying to like make her way. And I've been like laughing so hard at it because she goes to this woman's event. Catie: Yeah. Danielle: And it's supposed to be like all empowering, and they only have a size medium shirt for her. And she's like, all the giveaways are like one of them is like leg makeup, or the giveaways are all like things to make yourself look better. Like, so we're saying, like, hey, women, like women empowerment, like, and it is women empowerment events are so fun when you're with the right women. And the one I'm going to is gonna be very fun. They do such a good job like making you feel authentic. Catie: Better yeah. Danielle: And it's not at all like an event where you feel like not enough. If anything, you come out the other side feeling better. But I'm also laughing because I'm sitting here stressing over what to wear because it is an all women's event and I want Catie: Well yeah, and you wanna like look good, feel good, play good. That's the that's the vibe always. But yeah, the shopping is really difficult these days. And I know and now because we've talked to Nina, if you guys look back at like the one about g having our like ⁓ that I keep finding myself looking back to it, but I did buy a white button down again for like the hundredth time that I've bought one. I got one off Amazon ⁓ Danielle: Yeah. Two days? Catie: And I like the material and all that. And I literally put it on this morning and I'm just like Danielle: You had high hopes. Catie: I had high hopes and I just am like I just don't know why I don't like the way it looks. Danielle: I I I think it really truly like you can see right now I have like on a athletic dress. Like we just have big boobs and it's hard. It's hard, man. Catie: And it's just like I'm not even trying to button it up. I left it open. like I I have drawstring pants on, like so I got that. It's a little cooler here today, so like again. like I just couldn't do it. I couldn't leave my house with it on Danielle: Proud of you. You know what? It's you gotta do what feels right to you. And I think like we're growing into the whatever style and fashion we have. And like I know I'm gonna go out and buy a black dress, like a basic hundredth time. And it's like, how many times can I buy the same thing over and over? But if that's what you feel good in, that's what you feel good in. I mean, that I mean, that's where I'm at right now. I know switching gears a little bit, just because we're doing our little bit of Catie: Like for the hundredth time. Danielle: Quick therapy. I got that video from you about Jack's graduation. How sad? Did you cry? Catie: we had to sit like all of the whole elementary school and it was very cute, like the entire thing. There was a recorder performance and it brought me back. And to preface everyone, like this is Jack's first in school. Like this is all new to me, so like I know that it's like we just wait till you know, ⁓ whichever parts. yeah, it was really kind of it was so cute. They the saw Jack wouldn't tell us what song they were singing. Danielle: Always magical. Catie: He was trying to convince us yesterday that he was singing the Flag Day, the like your grain and yeah, that one. He knows all the words and like the hand motion. We're like, they're not singing that at the end of the year ceremony, are they? He was trying to tell us that. ⁓ I do have to tell you this because it was very last night at bedtime. and ⁓ we're to like Jack likes to like talk about his day when we like go to bed. Danielle: You're a grand old flag. He clearly memorized it. Catie: We're talking about he's like so too he was so excited for us to come today. And he was like, I can't wait for you guys to see everything. Like, I hope I see you in the audience. And we're like, Well, we'll stand up and wave, like, we'll make sure you see us. And then he kind of he's like sitting there thinking about it for a minute, and then he's like, ⁓ you gonna work tomorrow? And I was like, No, I go, I'm gonna take off in the morning and then I'll go, you know, I'll I'm gonna come to the event. He's like, Well, you better call call Danielle and tell her that you're not working. And I was like, like, no, Jack, I'll I'll work. It's fine. He's like, well, then maybe you need to wake up early to work. And I was like, Jack, you don't need to worry about when mommy's working. Like, I'm coming, but this poor kid is so freaking anxious that he's worried about when me and Ryan are working. This went on for a few minutes. Then he's like, Well, so daddy, who's gonna teach the kids? Well, daddy's at my school. I was like, Well, they get a substitute, like you have a substitute. And it like his little brain is already so ⁓ Danielle: That is so cute. You're gonna work. Who's trying to process all of this information? Catie: Yes. And I was like, you do not need to worry about mommy's work schedule ever. Like, don't worry about it. Mommy will work when she needs to work. It's like, okay. things you're thinking about, man. Danielle: Don't stress. I got this. That is so cute, honestly. Like the fact that he's like thinking about it and making sure that you're good ⁓ quite sweet. Catie: Totally like developed emotions. And then on the other hand, we finally took well I made Ryan take him 'cause I have already had to take him to the eye doctor for Calvin. He had to get blood work done as well. So Ryan took him this morning and Calvin just stared. They like actually did a full blood draw like they would. And Ryan's like, it wasn't a little, like they had to take five vials to do all the testing. And he just sat there and stared at it. Danielle: And he was just like First and the second are so different. I'm telling you. Like Daisy loves the doctor. We play doctor all day. She likes to see them. She like Colton was terrified. Like it's just there, it's that feral second born. They're like, go for it. Try and get me. Catie: So like, yeah. It's just they don't care. They're like, What? What do you I can't even feel that? And then then we made the jokes of like, well he doesn't have his glasses yet, he can't even see what's happening and like it's Danielle: You guys are being mean already. You're call g before you know it, he's gonna have a complex. I they called me four eyes and ⁓ that was when I got contact. Catie: I have been seeing a lot of things, it's like, well, do you want your kid to be like you want them to be a little funny, you need to give them some trauma, like otherwise they're gonna Yeah, like you you can't just let them be normal. Danielle: Yeah, like need something to talk about in therapy. You know what I mean? Like, come on now. It's at least we're like in the era where it's like we were in the car for therapy, my cousins are here, and I had to go in. I think Colton doesn't realize that when I go, like sometimes it's to talk about him, but sometimes it's like He's graduating therapy. So this one was like just me. And he was like, mommy, are you gonna go talk about me? And I'm like, no, buddy, I'm going to talk about mommy. Like, I'm I'm going to therapy. He's like, you go to therapy? I was like, yeah, but yeah, buddy. He's like, ⁓ I didn't know. And then my cousin Nicole's like, yeah, Auntie Mickey goes to therapy too. He's like, you go to therapy. We all to therapy. Like, we all talk about stuff. And it's like, yeah, it's okay. Like, but at least we're in an era where it's like, okay. Catie: Normal. Normal. Yeah, like it's not like you're weird 'cause you go to therapy. It's like everyone needs everyone needs a little. Danielle: Yeah, it's like you don't, like all the cool kids are messed up. Catie: all have a little trauma that s gives us personality. Danielle: That's what keeps us going, right? Like, and I know this this episode has kind of completely gone off the rails, but Katie and I just really don't have as much time to catch up as we used to. So we like to throw in a couple episodes where we just chat about life. Catie: I do feel like we need to talk about our like current events briefly. Like things that are going on. Because I don't are you into Love Island? Danielle: Yes. yet, no. Catie: I can't keep up. I was like, you know what, I need a show. You know that I watch like Survivor and like Big Brother C Yeah. Wait, the Netflix one? Danielle: Yep. Do you watch Perfect Match? Okay. Yeah. I like that one a lot 'cause it's sure that Love Island's a commitment. Perfect match isn't easy. Catie: ⁓ my gosh, I can't believe how much episode so I was like, ⁓ okay, like it's like a little episode every day. No, it's like hour and a half every day. Danielle: For like how many days? Like sixty days. It's like a true like another job. Catie: I'm I started watching like it's it's like a show that I can put on while I'm in my work zone instead of music, right? Like where I can play I usually do that and ⁓ I can't keep up. I'm like they're fifteen episodes in almost already and I'm like I'm on episode four. And then I'm like the spoilers and then it's and then you give up because it's like and I'm used to like Big Brother is three three nights a week for an hour. Like I'm used to like keeping it on. Danielle: Yeah, no. It's three nights a week. Dude, that's like that is another level of commitment. Like I am gonna just stick to my like book series that turn into shows for right now. Catie: series off campus for sure.
