- 0:26Speaker 1: Classy I'll go hold.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Thank you. Welcome back to another episode of the Mixed
- 0:35Speaker 3: Company Podcast. Of course, I'm one of your olds, Jamison
- 0:38Speaker 3: Welsh and always I'm joined by the classic alcoholic Classy.
- 0:42Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Oh, Jamison? Feeling great today? Stoked to be recording episode eighteen.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Our show is officially old enough to vote and purchase
- 0:50Speaker 2: lotto tickets, but not old enough to smoke because you
- 0:53Speaker 2: have to be twenty one years old the smoke nowadays,
- 0:55Speaker 2: But that's okay because you and I are here to
- 0:57Speaker 2: bring all the smoke that people will ever need. We
- 1:01Speaker 2: got a lot of boxing to talk about, so let's
- 1:03Speaker 2: I want to get to it at first. I always
- 1:05Speaker 2: like to open shows with a shout out wherever necessary,
- 1:08Speaker 2: and today I'm going to give a shout out to
- 1:09Speaker 2: you because you just had a birthday last week. Isn't
- 1:12Speaker 2: that right?
- 1:12Speaker 3: Appreciate that. Yeah, last Thursday turned thirty nine, So time flies, man,
- 1:17Speaker 3: like time flying. Man. It's one of those things to
- 1:21Speaker 3: where if you when we were young, we used to
- 1:26Speaker 3: complain about things going so slow, But get older, you
- 1:30Speaker 3: complain that things are going so fast, and you see
- 1:32Speaker 3: your friends kids grow up, you see your siblings grow
- 1:35Speaker 3: up like I was since at sixteen, and she's doing like,
- 1:39Speaker 3: you know, adult stuff and all that stuff. So yeah, man,
- 1:43Speaker 3: it's uh, yeah, it's a lot going on. But I'm
- 1:45Speaker 3: happy to eat be here. Happened to make another year,
- 1:48Speaker 3: and good to join this great podcast that we have
- 1:50Speaker 3: and keep growing.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely, I'm a little bit older. We were born
- 1:55Speaker 2: the same year, but I was thirty nine back in February.
- 1:57Speaker 2: So you know, the next big adventure is the Big
- 1:58Speaker 2: four Row next year. Yeah, we're I'm excited. Actually, I'm
- 2:03Speaker 2: not excited about my hangovers tripling in length because right
- 2:06Speaker 2: now they're double. Like they doubled in length, they're gonna
- 2:08Speaker 2: be triple probably.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Man.
- 2:11Speaker 2: So but since we're both that, we're still young, we're
- 2:15Speaker 2: still spry. And this morning I woke up to greet
- 2:17Speaker 2: the day with some whiskey in my coffee, and I
- 2:19Speaker 2: walked over to the local news stand to pick up
- 2:21Speaker 2: a copy of the Boxing Gazette, the premier source of
- 2:25Speaker 2: boxing news, and on the front page there was a
- 2:27Speaker 2: story about an excellent performance over the weekend from Richardson Hitchins,
- 2:32Speaker 2: an undefeated boxer from Brooklyn, crushed it at Madison Square
- 2:35Speaker 2: Garden against personally I think the most overrated Crikey boxer,
- 2:40Speaker 2: George Campbos's junior. But Jameson, did you see the fight highlights?
- 2:44Speaker 2: At least? What did you think?
- 2:45Speaker 3: I saw the fight. I saw the fight. I'm a
- 2:47Speaker 3: big fan. I like boxes that talk shitting back it up.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Do you have a lot of boxes that talk a
- 2:54Speaker 3: lot of like we have a lot of guys that
- 2:56Speaker 3: talking to a lot of antiques. But to see someone
- 2:59Speaker 3: talk shit for you fight, I as you tossh it
- 3:01Speaker 3: during the fight and then back it up, I'm impressed.
- 3:05Speaker 3: And we need more of that. That's what we need.
- 3:07Speaker 3: That's what the sport needs. More of that, because we
- 3:10Speaker 3: get a lot of guys talking and doing stuff and
- 3:12Speaker 3: blah blah blah. But when it comes to fight night,
- 3:14Speaker 3: they throw hundred punches. So to see this kind of
- 3:17Speaker 3: performance in a venue like that, I'm impressed. We need more.
- 3:22Speaker 3: We need more big fights with him, agreed.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm with you too. You know, I've always
- 3:27Speaker 2: said on the show that I never care about what
- 3:29Speaker 2: happens outside the ring, the press conferences, the face offs,
- 3:32Speaker 2: because it's all the same thing. I'm gonna knock you up,
- 3:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna knock you out, blah blah blah. You know,
- 3:36Speaker 2: I hate you and they play it up. But most
- 3:39Speaker 2: of these fighters don't really hate each other. But you're right.
- 3:41Speaker 2: You know, when somebody talks a lot of shit and
- 3:43Speaker 2: then comes in and hardly throws any punches, just kind
- 3:46Speaker 2: of dances around the ring, you think, what was that for?
- 3:49Speaker 2: So yeah, shout out to Richardson hitchins Man. You know,
- 3:52Speaker 2: I he was actually not on my radar. I believe
- 3:56Speaker 2: I went through his his fight list. I think I
- 3:58Speaker 2: saw him fight against somebody, but it didn't stick in
- 4:00Speaker 2: my mind. So I don't know if it was just
- 4:02Speaker 2: a bunch of other fights or but I knew the name.
- 4:06Speaker 2: But this was an excellent performance.
- 4:08Speaker 3: You know.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Possibly he wasn't at this level at the time at
- 4:11Speaker 2: the last fight I saw him, but uh, round eight
- 4:14Speaker 2: TKO with the body shot against Cambosos. He even got
- 4:18Speaker 2: an early body shot. Oh, I think it was like
- 4:20Speaker 2: round four. Yeah, it wasn't wobbled cambos. You could tell
- 4:25Speaker 2: he was hurt. There was blood in the water and
- 4:28Speaker 2: he didn't let up light on his feet. But also
- 4:32Speaker 2: why did his see pasteadios? I was gonna say, like, yeah,
- 4:34Speaker 2: not intimidated, kept advancing, just a wonderful one of performance.
- 4:41Speaker 3: So he didn't play with his food either. He knew
- 4:43Speaker 3: what he was there for. He took your business, and
- 4:46Speaker 3: he's better. He's there for bigger and better things going forward.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing his career. You know,
- 4:52Speaker 2: he right now, let's see what I got here. He
- 4:54Speaker 2: is now twenty and oh with Akos consistently been fighting
- 4:57Speaker 2: twice a year, so now he wants He called out
- 5:01Speaker 2: Tepus and Devin Haney. You and I have had our
- 5:06Speaker 2: opinion on Devin Haney sort of knows Dove a little bit.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I don't know when you think about that matchup, tail
- 5:13Speaker 2: Fema would be the more challenging one. He still he's
- 5:16Speaker 2: still got it, I think, But I don't know what
- 5:17Speaker 2: are your thoughts on on those potential matchups, and I
- 5:20Speaker 2: would so.
- 5:21Speaker 3: I don't know if he'll be favorite by versus either guy.
- 5:24Speaker 3: But I would I would take him versus either guy
- 5:26Speaker 3: at the moment from what we've seen lately and the activity,
- 5:31Speaker 3: the talent and the skill sets that we've seen, I
- 5:34Speaker 3: would take if I had a bet, I would bet
- 5:37Speaker 3: on him. Now again, that's with if he's an underdog
- 5:40Speaker 3: in a fight, if Vegas has him at different odds,
- 5:43Speaker 3: then yeah, I would take him betting wise, I'm not
- 5:46Speaker 3: impressed with Devin Haney at all. I'm not. There's nothing
- 5:49Speaker 3: you can do to tell me until further notice, to
- 5:51Speaker 3: get me excited about Devin Handey fight. I'm tired. I'm
- 5:54Speaker 3: simply tired. There's nothing where you can sell me on him.
- 5:57Speaker 3: We we don't need to go with this anymore. Personally,
- 6:02Speaker 3: I personally have heard too much talking and non a
- 6:07Speaker 3: performance in the ring. That's the first thing. Also, he
- 6:12Speaker 3: hasn't done anything like With all due respect, I get
- 6:15Speaker 3: he's one, but I get that. I get the belt's part.
- 6:18Speaker 3: That's the belt Park's becoming very overrated because very easy
- 6:21Speaker 3: to get a belt nowadays than when it was forty
- 6:23Speaker 3: fifty years ago. However, with that being said, no one's
- 6:27Speaker 3: afraid of Devin Haney like No one's afraid of him.
- 6:29Speaker 3: No one's like, damn, I gotta fight deva hate next week. No, no,
- 6:33Speaker 3: no is he is he a good fighter, He's okay,
- 6:35Speaker 3: he's fine. But in terms of an elite fighter that
- 6:37Speaker 3: people are scared of and people are ducking nah, people
- 6:40Speaker 3: are what people want to fight him, that's how they
- 6:42Speaker 3: think of to a female similar, Uh, he's more annoying
- 6:48Speaker 3: than anything with some of the yeah, all the rings things.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Probably a better fighter if I had to say, of
- 6:55Speaker 3: the two, but they're kind of similar in terms of
- 6:57Speaker 3: like they both accomplashed things, but no one was afraid
- 7:00Speaker 3: of them. Like people want to fight them because they
- 7:02Speaker 3: have names. And we'll see. I think, honestly, we need
- 7:07Speaker 3: a different group of boxers coming up, younger guys, guys
- 7:10Speaker 3: that have not gotten attention in the past, to kind
- 7:13Speaker 3: of take over, because we've seen guys get to this
- 7:15Speaker 3: stage where everyone knows him and kind of flat line,
- 7:18Speaker 3: kind of plateau where they're not as active. There's a
- 7:20Speaker 3: bunch of excuses, there's weird things going on. We need
- 7:24Speaker 3: fresh blood, we need active fight. So I'm all four,
- 7:27Speaker 3: But we'll see what happens. You know, boxing is interesting.
- 7:29Speaker 3: We'll see what happens in the next few months. But
- 7:32Speaker 3: I would love to see any of any of those
- 7:35Speaker 3: two guys get with them. Either one would people to work. Now.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I'm not going to count out tell Femo yet. You know,
- 7:41Speaker 2: he's he's at his ups and downs. I think he's
- 7:43Speaker 2: still very talented fighter. He definitely has not fallen in
- 7:46Speaker 2: my esteem like Devin Haney has. Yeah, he got a
- 7:49Speaker 2: lot of criticism for his performance during the Time Square thing,
- 7:52Speaker 2: but he was moving. He was best he was. He
- 7:55Speaker 2: was sticking and moving and he was He was also
- 7:59Speaker 2: show voting and dancing around, which is his style. But
- 8:01Speaker 2: I don't think that that he's lost it. Really, it'll
- 8:06Speaker 2: go it kind of we're gonna see soon if he
- 8:09Speaker 2: fights again. He did pass on the Devin Haiti fight.
- 8:12Speaker 2: People said that Teoe Fema was ducking him. Could it
- 8:15Speaker 2: also be that kind of the same thing. He's not
- 8:17Speaker 2: excited to fight him because it's not much of a challenge.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I think I had more to do with the money
- 8:22Speaker 3: break down. I think there are with the negotiations with
- 8:25Speaker 3: the Saudi people. I think there's a lot going on
- 8:28Speaker 3: with that and it broke down. But it was heard
- 8:31Speaker 3: at one point it was made, at one point it
- 8:32Speaker 3: was confirmed, and then a few hour later it was
- 8:34Speaker 3: backed out.
- 8:35Speaker 2: So I don't know, no, no, Well, I guess the
- 8:38Speaker 2: last thing we can say on this is that after
- 8:41Speaker 2: Richardson Hitchins's performance against Cambosa's tail femal Lopus had no
- 8:45Speaker 2: business losening to that dude. Man, he had no business
- 8:47Speaker 2: losing to Cambosa's I don't know what was wrong with
- 8:50Speaker 2: that day. You know, they had the damn flu or.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I don't know his dog die. I have no clue,
- 8:56Speaker 2: but there was no way. I don't see what. I
- 8:58Speaker 2: don't have no idea what happened.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you'd have I'd be shot, Like I didn't watch
- 9:02Speaker 3: the fight, I'd be shocked. You told me that was
- 9:05Speaker 3: the result when those two guys fought. Like But like
- 9:08Speaker 3: you said, boxing happens. Boxing happened. At the end of
- 9:10Speaker 3: the day, boxing does happen or nothing you can do
- 9:13Speaker 3: regarding it.
- 9:14Speaker 2: An upset can always happen. But yeah, at the end
- 9:17Speaker 2: of the day, shout out to Richardson Hitchens for a
- 9:19Speaker 2: wonderful performance, and we want to see more from you
- 9:21Speaker 2: and from a better fighter who's not as overrated as
- 9:25Speaker 2: Cambosas correct, correct, all right, so we need to figure
- 9:31Speaker 2: out what you gotta talk about, you know, maybe having
- 9:34Speaker 2: a new emergency episodes. When something major happened.
- 9:36Speaker 3: I thought, you know what, I thought about hitting you
- 9:38Speaker 3: when it happened. For several reasons, I actually work with
- 9:41Speaker 3: people who are who live and work in the area.
- 9:45Speaker 3: My day job has a lot of people in that state,
- 9:48Speaker 3: so I work. I'm on a team with someone who
- 9:52Speaker 3: had tickets to the fight, and that was talking about
- 9:55Speaker 3: the fight two weeks in advance, and they were severely
- 9:58Speaker 3: pissed off about all the antics and events that took
- 10:02Speaker 3: place during that situation.
- 10:04Speaker 2: So what are we talking about episode seventeen. You know,
- 10:07Speaker 2: we were all super excited about Kishon Davis coming back
- 10:10Speaker 2: on Saturday the UH. I believe that it was the
- 10:12Speaker 2: seventh and what was the day before that Friday? I
- 10:16Speaker 2: think it was announced that number one, Kishon Davis didn't
- 10:19Speaker 2: make weight. He was like four point three pounds over
- 10:22Speaker 2: Now the fight didn't happen, It got canceled. Other fighters
- 10:25Speaker 2: they've come in overweight, but you know, they the fight
- 10:28Speaker 2: still occurred. They just didn't, you know, have the championship
- 10:31Speaker 2: belt that they were fighting for. But this one Edwin
- 10:33Speaker 2: Della Santos, who was set to fight Kishon Davis. He said, Nope,
- 10:36Speaker 2: not going to do it. He didn't hold up his
- 10:37Speaker 2: end of the bargain. I worry about him being you know,
- 10:40Speaker 2: higher weight class and being dangerous for me. Blah blah blah.
- 10:44Speaker 2: So the fight was just scrapped. I'm trying to think.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I was trying to wreck my brain to remember recently
- 10:50Speaker 2: in recent times, like how has there been fights that
- 10:52Speaker 2: have been just canceled after somebody doesn't make weight? Because
- 10:54Speaker 2: I can't remember. I think Ryan Garcia came in over
- 10:58Speaker 2: for the Haiti fight.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Right, yeah, yeah, either way. The it's one thing that
- 11:03Speaker 3: comes over in a fight, like coming in over four
- 11:05Speaker 3: pounds is crazy, like you're not taking it seriously. Also,
- 11:10Speaker 3: the amount of money that you have to forfeit is
- 11:14Speaker 3: just it's just ridiculous. But you're not a serious fighter.
- 11:17Speaker 3: If you come in that that many pounds are aweight
- 11:19Speaker 3: a pound, I can see it should happens. Not saying
- 11:23Speaker 3: it's good, but I can see it. Anything more than
- 11:25Speaker 3: a pound and a half is like hey man, like
- 11:28Speaker 3: what are you You're not serious? Like you're not You're
- 11:30Speaker 3: not serious? And four pounds. Is disrespectful to the sport
- 11:36Speaker 3: and respectful for everybody who's invested in this event. Is
- 11:39Speaker 3: disrespectful to all of us who wanted to watch the event.
- 11:43Speaker 3: It's just extremely disrespectful. They're taking the fans for granted.
- 11:46Speaker 3: And that's the shit I cannot get behind. We cannot
- 11:49Speaker 3: we cannot support shit like that. We cannot tolerate it
- 11:52Speaker 3: like that. You should be suspended when you come in
- 11:56Speaker 3: that much overweight. Your job as a professional boxers to
- 11:59Speaker 3: stay and shape and make sure your skills are sharp.
- 12:02Speaker 3: If you can't do that, then you don't deserve to
- 12:04Speaker 3: get paid. You don't deserve to get any future fights.
- 12:07Speaker 3: For a while. You need to sit back and reflect
- 12:09Speaker 3: and think about some shit. And then you have the
- 12:11Speaker 3: audacity to cause a scene in another fight where people
- 12:14Speaker 3: actually made the weight. Nah. Fuck that. I'm sorry, excuse
- 12:16Speaker 3: my language, but that ain't it. Like. We're hardworking people.
- 12:20Speaker 3: You have a day job. I got a day job.
- 12:22Speaker 3: A producer got a day job, and other producers other stuff.
- 12:25Speaker 3: We have a certain amount of time and resources we
- 12:28Speaker 3: dedicate to certain things. And for you, as a professional
- 12:32Speaker 3: boxer to come in overweight like that, I can't I can't.
- 12:37Speaker 3: I can't support it cannot.
- 12:39Speaker 2: And I am not disagreeing with anything you're saying. I
- 12:42Speaker 2: am one hundred percent on board. I will sort of
- 12:45Speaker 2: take a little different track on this conversation because you know,
- 12:48Speaker 2: if you listen episode sixteen, we talked a lot about
- 12:50Speaker 2: rehydrich clauses. We're not gonna rehash that conversation, but I
- 12:54Speaker 2: said that I think if you're gonna work so hard
- 12:57Speaker 2: to make weight, you should be able to fight at
- 12:58Speaker 2: that weight. And when Kisha didn't make it, the announcer said,
- 13:01Speaker 2: you know, he was talking about how that was almost
- 13:05Speaker 2: passing out trying to make weight on the scale, Sugar Stevenson.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I think he said he was literally pissing blood because
- 13:10Speaker 2: he had so much typicalty making the weight. That's at
- 13:14Speaker 2: that point, it's just dangerous. At that point, there's one
- 13:16Speaker 2: thing where you know you had too many twinkies or
- 13:18Speaker 2: you were literally putting your life at risk. And if
- 13:21Speaker 2: you're if you're going to be in that state physically
- 13:24Speaker 2: to get to a particular weight class, that means you
- 13:27Speaker 2: can't fight there. You can't get into the ring if
- 13:29Speaker 2: that's what it took to get you there. So I
- 13:31Speaker 2: think maybe you should just kind of reassess how hard
- 13:35Speaker 2: you're working to cut that much weight, is my personal opinion.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Or if you're just not disciplined enough, I think it's disciplined.
- 13:41Speaker 3: I don't think it's cutting weight. I think it's being
- 13:43Speaker 3: disciplined in between fights. You got to be disciplined. If
- 13:46Speaker 3: you're a guy that's supposed to be at one thirty
- 13:48Speaker 3: five one forty. If you normally walked around at one
- 13:51Speaker 3: fifty one fifty five and then you cut fifteen pounds
- 13:54Speaker 3: four a fight, that's fine. That's fine. But if you're
- 13:56Speaker 3: getting one fifty five, one sixty and up between fights
- 14:00Speaker 3: and then you try to cut up twenty five thirty pounds,
- 14:02Speaker 3: that's hard doing. If you can't do that, then you
- 14:05Speaker 3: need to consider some things. You need to reconsideration things,
- 14:08Speaker 3: or let people know ahead of time, saying, hey, we
- 14:11Speaker 3: need to change where this fight what wait, this fight's
- 14:13Speaker 3: gonna be at if possible, because I can't make one
- 14:16Speaker 3: thirty five. You can't have a fight canceled period, But
- 14:20Speaker 3: in your hometown, nah, nah, ain't no way.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Well and you, yeah, you made reference to it a
- 14:29Speaker 2: second ago, but not only that, but we found out
- 14:32Speaker 2: that apparently Kishan and his younger brother Keon assaulted another fighter.
- 14:38Speaker 2: The fighter that beat his older brother, Now he are
- 14:41Speaker 2: all bright. So in between matches they went to an
- 14:44Speaker 2: interview with now you're all bright and he looked fucked
- 14:46Speaker 2: up like he had a big welt on his forehead. Yeah,
- 14:49Speaker 2: it was bad and apparently that happened in the locker room.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Then afterwards there was footage of a brawl in the
- 14:55Speaker 2: hallway where Kishan had to get ejected. It was a
- 14:58Speaker 2: shit show, like straight up, that's what it was. My
- 15:02Speaker 2: question is can this somebody? Can Keisha Davis come back
- 15:05Speaker 2: for something like that? I mean, we've heard stories about
- 15:07Speaker 2: fighters doing fucked up stuff, so you know, years and
- 15:10Speaker 2: years and years we have we've heard all the stories.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Is missing weight and then the behavior on top of that.
- 15:16Speaker 2: How much is that going to hurt his career? Can
- 15:18Speaker 2: he make amends, can he come back or is he
- 15:19Speaker 2: basically being written off? And is he going to end
- 15:22Speaker 2: up At two PM? Before the fights happened at eight
- 15:26Speaker 2: or nine.
- 15:27Speaker 3: So the two pms after you'd have been dropped a
- 15:28Speaker 3: few times, so from to the fights a few times
- 15:37Speaker 3: and you got to people you should be losing two
- 15:40Speaker 3: to be fighting at two and three to four pm
- 15:43Speaker 3: local time. But that being said, he's talented, so he'll
- 15:47Speaker 3: get other opportunities, but the money is gonna be different.
- 15:50Speaker 3: So instead of making seven figures, the next fight might
- 15:52Speaker 3: be in the six figures, just based off of and
- 15:55Speaker 3: then it took place. Plus he lost out on his
- 15:57Speaker 3: money from this past fight. He didn't get any money
- 15:59Speaker 3: from that. That's all lost. And I'm glad that happened.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Because you don't play boxing. This is a career. This
- 16:07Speaker 3: isn't no part time thing. This ain't no hobby. This
- 16:11Speaker 3: is a fucking career. You guys, stay in shape. This
- 16:13Speaker 3: is what you do. You gotta stay in shape. It
- 16:16Speaker 3: ain't no ah, well you know all this drop five
- 16:18Speaker 3: pounds and no no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 16:21Speaker 3: that's ridiculous. Like I was very disappointed. I heard four
- 16:24Speaker 3: and a half pounds or whatever it was. I was like, what,
- 16:27Speaker 3: like again, a pound happens, That's happened. Time, that's happened.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Sometimes they'll give a box for two hours and come
- 16:35Speaker 3: back and rewigh like we've we've heard and seen that before.
- 16:38Speaker 3: They back in the day and they used to give
- 16:39Speaker 3: a guy a shot and it would like flush stuff
- 16:42Speaker 3: out and basically, you know, there'd be things that you
- 16:44Speaker 3: could do to lose a pound. But when I heard four,
- 16:47Speaker 3: oh no, we're done here, why you can't, I'm glad
- 16:50Speaker 3: the fight didn't happen. I'm glad he learned a very
- 16:53Speaker 3: valuable lesson. Now he's talented enough to overcome this. It's
- 16:56Speaker 3: gonna be a lot of work he's gonna need to
- 16:58Speaker 3: put in. And be quite honest with you, he can't
- 17:01Speaker 3: have any setbacks. If he messes around and loses his
- 17:03Speaker 3: next fight, or the next fight is very shaky, it's
- 17:07Speaker 3: not looking good, gotcha.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Now, I believe I read that because Edwin Della
- 17:13Speaker 2: Santos chose not to fight, which was his right and
- 17:15Speaker 2: his prerogative, that he just got the first money, right,
- 17:18Speaker 2: like that money that was put up for the competition.
- 17:20Speaker 2: He just got it. You know, Scott Free which Hey
- 17:23Speaker 2: shout out to him. You know, other fighters might have
- 17:26Speaker 2: gone on with the fight, but he said, I held
- 17:28Speaker 2: up my end of the bargain. This guy didn't. That's
- 17:30Speaker 2: not my fault. You know. To talk to your chucky
- 17:34Speaker 2: man over there.
- 17:35Speaker 3: So here's what happens when something just takes place. So
- 17:38Speaker 3: let's say the weigh in that three people, let's say
- 17:40Speaker 3: that noon. Let's say is that noon. Just make it easier,
- 17:43Speaker 3: they'll give you several options on what to do. So
- 17:46Speaker 3: they all get the camps together and say, hey, what
- 17:49Speaker 3: resolution do y'all have. So let's say if it was
- 17:52Speaker 3: a pound, they'd say, hey, come back in three hours,
- 17:55Speaker 3: will we weigh if he's able to make way? Cool?
- 17:57Speaker 3: If not, we'll figure out some sort of count actual
- 18:00Speaker 3: thing to where the perse you know, perfect pound he's over,
- 18:04Speaker 3: he has to give away one hundred grand for each
- 18:07Speaker 3: pound or each half pounds whatever. So that's how it's
- 18:10Speaker 3: normally worked out. But when it's four pounds, there's really
- 18:13Speaker 3: not much to work out, Like you're kind of not
- 18:15Speaker 3: leaving someone in any choice. Four pounds a lot of
- 18:18Speaker 3: fucking pounds in boxing, man, Like, that's a lot of pounds,
- 18:20Speaker 3: especially for like a main event type of situation. It's
- 18:23Speaker 3: not a secondary event, it's not a two PM fight,
- 18:27Speaker 3: it's a main event that's on national television. And yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 3: you can't really there's nothing to work out, to be
- 18:33Speaker 3: honest with you, unless he's gonna give his whole salary
- 18:36Speaker 3: to do. There is no there's really nothing to work Uh,
- 18:39Speaker 3: there's really nothing to work out.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Right, So really, at the end of the day, yes,
- 18:45Speaker 2: we say that Edwin Dello Santo's chose not to fight,
- 18:47Speaker 2: but really it was it was kind of out of
- 18:49Speaker 2: his hands.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Right. Well, here's the thing. Why would you you held
- 18:53Speaker 3: up your bargain. You're getting paid regardless, So why chance
- 18:58Speaker 3: the risk of injury, the risk of risk of losing.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Why would you because someone else theyre responsible. Unless you
- 19:06Speaker 3: were incentivized so much financially that you couldn't turn it down.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Why we said, hey, I got to give half your
- 19:11Speaker 3: person away. That's just something he would have had to do.
- 19:14Speaker 3: And if he didn't want to do that, the did
- 19:15Speaker 3: no fight. If I was in his shoes, that's what
- 19:18Speaker 3: I would thrown out there and say, hey, he's scheduled
- 19:20Speaker 3: to make one point four I need half of that.
- 19:23Speaker 3: And if he didn't want to do it, then so
- 19:25Speaker 3: be it.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Okay, Well, you know, let's see what happens with Keishon Davis.
- 19:29Speaker 2: You know, we said in the last episode that we
- 19:31Speaker 2: were both fans and we were both looking forward to
- 19:33Speaker 2: that fight. The bummer that it didn't happen. However, a
- 19:38Speaker 2: very talented prospect of Doula. Mason, with a lot of potential,
- 19:40Speaker 2: took over the main event, had another excellent performance against
- 19:44Speaker 2: Jeremiah Nakatila. The ref stopped at round five because Nakatila
- 19:48Speaker 2: had a really bad cut on his eyelid. And what
- 19:51Speaker 2: did you think about that about Mason's fighting? First of all,
- 19:53Speaker 2: Mason taking over at the main event, do you think
- 19:55Speaker 2: that was a good call? And also what did you
- 19:57Speaker 2: think about him and his performance?
- 19:58Speaker 3: It's tough because here's the thing. The people who did
- 20:02Speaker 3: pay money, who still want to get out the house
- 20:04Speaker 3: and watch the fight. You do them, You do owe them.
- 20:06Speaker 3: You can't cancel the whole card. They can't do that.
- 20:09Speaker 3: You got to say face not luckily from I heard,
- 20:11Speaker 3: they did if they were able to refund people's money
- 20:14Speaker 3: back from what I've heard, so that's a good thing.
- 20:16Speaker 3: But you really can't cancel the whole card what's on
- 20:19Speaker 3: national TV. It's very hard because remember those trucks and
- 20:23Speaker 3: that operation teams already out there. They get there in
- 20:25Speaker 3: the middle of the week, they get there on Wednesday,
- 20:28Speaker 3: so they're already there setting up. They've already did. So
- 20:30Speaker 3: to cancel a whole card, that's not happened like it
- 20:34Speaker 3: would have to be catastrophic to cancel the whole car,
- 20:37Speaker 3: because everybody's already got paid. You've already paid them employees,
- 20:40Speaker 3: you paid the movie people. You've done so much already
- 20:43Speaker 3: to cancel a whole card. It is what it is. However,
- 20:46Speaker 3: this took the lackluster. I have the whole thing, but
- 20:49Speaker 3: it's like anything else, it's the next man up. So,
- 20:52Speaker 3: for instance, on a regular fight card, there's probably like
- 20:54Speaker 3: twelve fights. Just in general we see the top three
- 20:57Speaker 3: or four, but on a whole fight list, there's like
- 21:00Speaker 3: ten or twelve fights. Some of them are four round fights,
- 21:02Speaker 3: some were six round fights, whatever. Whatever. But if if
- 21:06Speaker 3: a fight happens and it gets canceled forever reason, they
- 21:09Speaker 3: just move it out and move the next one up.
- 21:10Speaker 3: That that's how it goes. So this is normal. This
- 21:13Speaker 3: is normal. It's just a circumstances suck, but this is
- 21:16Speaker 3: how it goes, right.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Well, I was really happy that Abdula Mason got to
- 21:21Speaker 2: got the spotlight this weekend. You know, I said, I
- 21:23Speaker 2: actually said on the last episode that he's a very
- 21:27Speaker 2: talented young guy and I think he's got a good
- 21:29Speaker 2: career ahead of him now. For him. I'm not trying
- 21:31Speaker 2: to take away anything from his win, from his performance
- 21:35Speaker 2: or for Richard and Hitchins. But also maybe there's a
- 21:38Speaker 2: little Lestrius and that Jeremiah Nakatila is like a bit
- 21:41Speaker 2: over the hill, not the most elite competition. Same thing
- 21:45Speaker 2: I said Campus was overrated. But again not being a dick,
- 21:49Speaker 2: not trying.
- 21:49Speaker 3: To be like, well, you know, you've got a credit
- 21:51Speaker 3: taking care of business. At the end of the day,
- 21:54Speaker 3: when you take care of business, we got to applaud
- 21:56Speaker 3: that because we've seen so many guys not take care
- 21:59Speaker 3: of business in the past. That's when you think that
- 22:00Speaker 3: to get me over a fight or tune up fight
- 22:03Speaker 3: and they end up get beat. So uh, it's one
- 22:06Speaker 3: of those things where we got applaud and appreciate guys
- 22:09Speaker 3: take care of business.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Sure, and I guess my point is that both these guys,
- 22:13Speaker 2: Hitchens and Mason, you know, let's see what's next for them.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Let's give him a big fight, let's let's reward their
- 22:20Speaker 2: talent and their performance, and let's award the fact that
- 22:22Speaker 2: they took care of business. And especially Mason, you know,
- 22:25Speaker 2: last minute, you're I don't I don't know anything about
- 22:28Speaker 2: what that's like, but to say you're up, you know,
- 22:31Speaker 2: on a major card, but now you're the main guy.
- 22:34Speaker 2: This rests on your shoulders. That's gonna be a lot
- 22:36Speaker 2: of pressure, and that's gonna be a lot of really
- 22:39Speaker 2: intense for for for a fighter. But he stepped up,
- 22:42Speaker 2: and you know, good for him. Shout out to do
- 22:44Speaker 2: to Mason.
- 22:45Speaker 3: But here's the thing though, as a boxer, you always
- 22:48Speaker 3: gotta say infest you're not a main guy. If you're
- 22:50Speaker 3: a boxer, gotta say ready because you never know what
- 22:53Speaker 3: you never know what call you're gonna get. Now, the
- 22:54Speaker 3: funniest part is there's a lot of boxers that have
- 22:57Speaker 3: regular jobs. So the guys that or tune up, fight guys,
- 23:01Speaker 3: and guys that are in the top ten and I'm
- 23:03Speaker 3: in the top twenty, they got regular jobs because they
- 23:05Speaker 3: got bills to pay, and the money in American boxing
- 23:08Speaker 3: ain't like you know, it ain't life changing. So a
- 23:11Speaker 3: lot of guys got regular jobs. Are part of their
- 23:13Speaker 3: job is to stay in shape and stay ready just
- 23:17Speaker 3: case they get that call. Because it's only a handful
- 23:20Speaker 3: of guys you can really call on him almost Notice
- 23:23Speaker 3: it's not a whole lot. There's not one hundred boxers
- 23:25Speaker 3: at one thirty five. It's just not so. You get
- 23:28Speaker 3: a guy that's in shape, rate to go and he's
- 23:30Speaker 3: somewhat formidable, then yeah, you do what you gotta do.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Well we did, We did talk about it. I think
- 23:36Speaker 2: I believe it was better be in versus b bol two.
- 23:38Speaker 2: When they called up that British electrician that came to
- 23:41Speaker 2: fight sho course Stevenson last minute. You know, respect to
- 23:43Speaker 2: him for sure, you know didn't didn't get the who
- 23:47Speaker 2: didn't take it home, but hey, you know he was
- 23:49Speaker 2: ready at a moment's notice.
- 23:50Speaker 3: And respect to that.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Guy his name, I absolutely remember. I just don't feel
- 23:55Speaker 2: like telling you that because you got to look it
- 23:56Speaker 2: up for yourself. Bettis guy way pretty tell interest. All right,
- 24:02Speaker 2: moving on to the fight that has been that we've
- 24:04Speaker 2: been talking about since the beginning of this podcast. If
- 24:06Speaker 2: this were a TV show, this would be the major
- 24:08Speaker 2: story arc that we kept coming back to, And there's
- 24:11Speaker 2: been news since our last episode. Turns out the Canelo
- 24:14Speaker 2: versus Crawford fight will be in Vegas after all September thirteenth,
- 24:19Speaker 2: although the venue is still TVD, which I think is weird.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I don't know that's gonna be at a legial stadium.
- 24:25Speaker 3: They're gonna move the football and a Friday. There's too
- 24:28Speaker 3: much money at stake. You don't have a football stadium
- 24:32Speaker 3: that can hold seventy thousand people and not have that
- 24:36Speaker 3: day because of U and V football. With all the
- 24:38Speaker 3: respect UNLV football, they've had two good seasons in twenty
- 24:42Speaker 3: So we're not gonna play this game. It's not USC
- 24:45Speaker 3: it's not Alabama, it's not for it. It's UOV football.
- 24:49Speaker 3: They can move it a day or two to get
- 24:51Speaker 3: this fight taken care of. So we need to be
- 24:53Speaker 3: realistic with this ship right now.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Is there any other venue that would in Vegas that
- 24:58Speaker 2: would make it to me, not knowing the.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Town football, not for that kind of crowd that they're
- 25:03Speaker 3: talking about. Okay, because we need this to mega fight. Man,
- 25:06Speaker 3: we don't have these fights don't happen, not like this.
- 25:10Speaker 3: You don't have the two biggest names in a sport
- 25:15Speaker 3: fighting somewhat in their prime. You don't get this like this.
- 25:19Speaker 3: You just don't. It was if Floyd and Manny was
- 25:22Speaker 3: in this day and age, it'll probably be in a stadium.
- 25:24Speaker 3: It probably be an allegiance with all the stuff that
- 25:27Speaker 3: has happened over the last ten years. But there's no
- 25:29Speaker 3: football stadium back then. There's nowhere. We don't have another
- 25:32Speaker 3: stadium like this that can hold this kind of crowd
- 25:35Speaker 3: that this would get. Plus you got to realize that
- 25:39Speaker 3: it's a holiday weekend of Mexican Independence that weekend. It's
- 25:43Speaker 3: a venue where you can sell a lot of cheap
- 25:47Speaker 3: seats and still sell a lot of high priced seats too,
- 25:51Speaker 3: the Uppers and Allegiance. It's high, but they have a
- 25:53Speaker 3: video board there, so people who go get up there
- 25:56Speaker 3: and pay, they'll pay. So yeah, they're gonna make it happen.
- 26:00Speaker 3: It's I couldn't see it being in t mobile or
- 26:03Speaker 3: in a regular arena. It has to be in the stadium.
- 26:05Speaker 2: It has to be gotcha, And you mentioned there was
- 26:08Speaker 2: no football stadium back then. Is that because the Legion
- 26:11Speaker 2: Stadium was created for the Raiders when.
- 26:13Speaker 3: They moved out to The Allegian Stadium was built for
- 26:15Speaker 3: the Raiders to move from the Bay Area to Vegas.
- 26:18Speaker 3: That that was its purpose. However, you don't be football.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Part of the agreement of the Raiders moving here was,
- 26:23Speaker 3: you know, football, they will play their home games in
- 26:25Speaker 3: that stadium as well, So that's what got the stadium
- 26:28Speaker 3: built here. With that being said, though, this is a
- 26:31Speaker 3: one event where it's gonna bring a lot of money
- 26:33Speaker 3: into the city. And if that's the case, you don't
- 26:35Speaker 3: the football will have to move that game the Thursday
- 26:37Speaker 3: or Friday.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Goscha Okay, Well, I'm super stoked about it. Another thing
- 26:42Speaker 2: that was announced is that the fight will be on Netflix.
- 26:45Speaker 2: The last time Netflix was involved in boxing was that
- 26:47Speaker 2: Mike Tyson travesty from last year that I never want
- 26:49Speaker 2: to speak of again. Yeah, but yeah, what do we
- 26:51Speaker 2: think about Netflix being involved in the boxing world?
- 26:53Speaker 3: Jamison, Well, we both paid seventeen or twenty dollars a
- 26:56Speaker 3: month for it, so being able to log in and
- 26:59Speaker 3: watch it it's cool. I guess that's fine. It's the future. Though,
- 27:03Speaker 3: with the way things are going, with the way sports
- 27:06Speaker 3: and streaming services, especially boxing, it feels like Netflix is
- 27:11Speaker 3: probably be the sole provider of big fights going forward.
- 27:15Speaker 3: It just feels like and it makes fens for Netflix.
- 27:17Speaker 3: They can market their product for four hours, so it
- 27:20Speaker 3: all makes sense. But it feels like Netflix is the move.
- 27:22Speaker 3: I know Amazon's does some stuff and does in or Tozone,
- 27:27Speaker 3: whatever you want to call it, does some stuff. But
- 27:28Speaker 3: for the most part, it feels like the marriage between
- 27:32Speaker 3: boxing and Netflix is going to be on the horizon.
- 27:34Speaker 3: It feels like that's the way, and their production is flawless.
- 27:37Speaker 3: I will say for whatever support event they've had, it's
- 27:40Speaker 3: gone off really well.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Well. There were a lot of reports about the stream
- 27:44Speaker 2: going out during the Tyson fight last year, so there
- 27:47Speaker 2: were some cakes that needed to be work out. They
- 27:49Speaker 2: will for this one.
- 27:50Speaker 3: So here's the thing. The Tyson fight, Yes, there are
- 27:52Speaker 3: some weird stuff at the stream. They had WrestleMania soon
- 27:55Speaker 3: after and it was perfect, and then they've had football
- 27:57Speaker 3: games it's been perfect. So I think they've worked that out.
- 28:01Speaker 3: But Amazon's the one with the perfect straight in my bad,
- 28:03Speaker 3: Amazon's the one with no issues. But we'll see. I
- 28:05Speaker 3: think it will be fine. It'll be interesting to see.
- 28:08Speaker 3: But also the amount of people that will get Netflix
- 28:11Speaker 3: for just that month just to have it, just to
- 28:14Speaker 3: watch it at home or on their phone or whatever.
- 28:17Speaker 3: They're gonna make so much money off that fight. They
- 28:20Speaker 3: know what they're doing. Getting. Here's that I'd rather get.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Let's say you get a two million one month subscribers
- 28:29Speaker 3: of Netflix at seventeen dollars a month, I'd rather get
- 28:33Speaker 3: that than hoping to get two million pay per view
- 28:36Speaker 3: guys at one hundred dollars a month. Okay, okay, you
- 28:40Speaker 3: know what I mean. Like this, doing simple math, if
- 28:43Speaker 3: you can get five times the amount of one party
- 28:46Speaker 3: at this amount, and you know, it's just it's just simple, man,
- 28:50Speaker 3: I think that. And also you already have people who
- 28:52Speaker 3: already contribute to Netflix already two so it's just I
- 28:56Speaker 3: get it, like I see, I see the vision.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Sure, and you know how many of us haven't signed
- 29:01Speaker 2: up for a trial or for one month and then
- 29:02Speaker 2: forget to cancel and then that just stays there.
- 29:06Speaker 3: And then all the marketing they can do during the
- 29:08Speaker 3: fight before the fight, during the fight, their marketing costs
- 29:13Speaker 3: are so so so their marketing is so important because
- 29:21Speaker 3: there's so much they can charge companies to market. There's
- 29:25Speaker 3: so much they can charge pre fight, during the week,
- 29:30Speaker 3: the months, the announce where all the stuff they can
- 29:32Speaker 3: do from now to then they can hit coming over
- 29:35Speaker 3: the head with the fees. So yeah, it's one of
- 29:37Speaker 3: those things to where they can really rake in the
- 29:41Speaker 3: dough when it comes to the situation.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Right, I think, Well, we've talked about how boxing needs
- 29:47Speaker 2: to get creative these days, you know, viewership is down
- 29:50Speaker 2: for well most things, you know, TV, live TV streams,
- 29:55Speaker 2: you know, and Top Rank leaving ESPN going possibly to
- 29:58Speaker 2: streaming only Netflix might be the best possible option because
- 30:03Speaker 2: especially if what you know, Top rank fights happened every
- 30:06Speaker 2: few months, every few weeks. Even so, if you're saying
- 30:09Speaker 2: Netflix is the home of a place like top rank
- 30:12Speaker 2: that has fights all year long, there will be fans
- 30:15Speaker 2: that will just keep it and then just watch it.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I mean, I have the ESPN Plus and I don't
- 30:19Speaker 2: watch shit on it except boxing, you know, I don't
- 30:21Speaker 2: log in for basketball or hockey anything else.
- 30:25Speaker 3: So it's funny you mentioned that. It's very funny. You
- 30:27Speaker 3: mentioned that there's a lot of people who have ESPN
- 30:29Speaker 3: Plus and other apps strictly for that soccer, basketball, baseball, boxing,
- 30:37Speaker 3: whatever it is. And we don't know it's gopen with
- 30:39Speaker 3: top rate ESPN going forward. You know, that's about the end,
- 30:43Speaker 3: or is rumored to end. So yeah, I that being said, yeah,
- 30:48Speaker 3: it might not be a need for ESPN Plus, I
- 30:50Speaker 3: hear you.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I still am a little disappointed about the fact that
- 30:55Speaker 2: if top rankly leaves ESPN, there won't just be boxing
- 30:59Speaker 2: matches on a Saturday at a dive bar or a
- 31:01Speaker 2: sports bar with the TV just happens to be on
- 31:04Speaker 2: that channel. But these days, I mean, if I bet you,
- 31:07Speaker 2: there's a lot of places that have Netflix account for
- 31:09Speaker 2: their business, right and you just go in like everybody got.
- 31:12Speaker 3: You don't need to feel business us need an account
- 31:13Speaker 3: because think about it, I'll we have smart TVs now,
- 31:16Speaker 3: so it's not like back when there we got a
- 31:17Speaker 3: call direct TV or to fight. That way, if you
- 31:20Speaker 3: have a smart taty you to put your account in
- 31:22Speaker 3: and you're good.
- 31:24Speaker 2: I wonder if the the bar tearer Buffalo Wild Wings
- 31:27Speaker 2: will let me log into my Netflix when there's a
- 31:29Speaker 2: fight happening.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Why not?
- 31:32Speaker 2: Probably not, I'll tip well, I tip.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Well, Yeah, they not word they don't want to see
- 31:36Speaker 3: what you be watching.
- 31:38Speaker 2: That's true. That's a good way.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Trying to see all that. Yeah.
- 31:41Speaker 2: No, yeah, I'm not saying I'm casting from my phone. Okay,
- 31:44Speaker 2: that'd be that would be a problem.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Yeah, we're not doing that either. We're not doing that.
- 31:48Speaker 3: But no, they will have ship together Buffalo Wild Wings
- 31:53Speaker 3: and other bars. They should be fine when it comes
- 31:56Speaker 3: to those options.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see what happens. With with Brank going forward.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Uh So with that said, another thing about this fight.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Turkeyella Shikh, Saudi promoter, said that the Canelo Crawford fight
- 32:12Speaker 2: is enough of a big event that they don't need
- 32:14Speaker 2: other big names of the card. He said the other
- 32:16Speaker 2: fights for the night will be prospects, lesser known fighters
- 32:18Speaker 2: still early in their career. Now do we think that
- 32:20Speaker 2: Turkey Yellow Shak actually believes this or is he just
- 32:23Speaker 2: trying to save money by paying the young tennies compared
- 32:26Speaker 2: to what Canello and Crawford are getting. I think it's the.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Second one, so the money's not an issue with them,
- 32:31Speaker 3: so I wouldn't. I'm not really worried about that. I
- 32:34Speaker 3: actually understand the reasoning is that it actually makes sense
- 32:38Speaker 3: for what they're doing. Now. I don't like it. I'd
- 32:41Speaker 3: like to have a second fight on there that has
- 32:44Speaker 3: some guys on it. But if it doesn't, I understand
- 32:46Speaker 3: the vision because remember there, from everything we've learned, it
- 32:50Speaker 3: feels like they're in boxing for the long haul. This
- 32:52Speaker 3: is not a quick flip. This is not a hey,
- 32:55Speaker 3: We're going to make this big one, big fight and
- 32:57Speaker 3: run out. It feels like they're in this for long term.
- 33:00Speaker 3: And Dana White's involved, so it feels like they're going
- 33:03Speaker 3: to try to promote some guys we normally wouldn't see
- 33:07Speaker 3: on TV, which is fine. I think that's a good thing.
- 33:10Speaker 3: I think that's awesome thing, to be honest with you.
- 33:12Speaker 3: So that's cool. Remember, my main issue with this, money
- 33:15Speaker 3: is not a problem. I think that if it was
- 33:18Speaker 3: a money thing, then we have a different conversation about
- 33:20Speaker 3: this whole thing. Money is not an issue though. It's
- 33:23Speaker 3: more of getting exposure for guys you normally wouldn't see
- 33:27Speaker 3: so you can make their next fight must watch TV.
- 33:30Speaker 3: I think fastest thing. So if you get four or
- 33:32Speaker 3: five fights of guys who normally don't see on TV,
- 33:35Speaker 3: and then all of a sudden you see him on TV,
- 33:37Speaker 3: then you got action, right.
- 33:40Speaker 2: I kind of go back and forth on this. Well,
- 33:42Speaker 2: first number one, I think having prospects on this major
- 33:45Speaker 2: fight is a great thing. I've said it before that
- 33:47Speaker 2: you know and you too, that we used to see
- 33:49Speaker 2: guys that are for now you know, hey to know
- 33:52Speaker 2: and we need in order for boxing to survive, it's
- 33:55Speaker 2: got to get creative with its broadcasting, and it's got
- 33:58Speaker 2: to make new fans, and it's got to have new
- 34:00Speaker 2: names that people are going to follow. We were kind
- 34:03Speaker 2: of like a broken record on this, so uh. But
- 34:05Speaker 2: at the same time, yeah, money may not be an
- 34:08Speaker 2: issue for the Saudis, but nothing is infinite. I don't know.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I mean, like at some point you might you can't
- 34:14Speaker 2: just be bleeding cash. Plus we talked about the Times
- 34:16Speaker 2: Square fight. It was a lot of money spent on
- 34:19Speaker 2: that and they weren't tickets sold. They just had some friends.
- 34:22Speaker 2: But but yeah, so I don't know. I don't know
- 34:27Speaker 2: how what that return on investment has looked like for
- 34:29Speaker 2: the Saudis so far. They have but Turkey Ella Shak
- 34:33Speaker 2: has been putting together big cards and spending a lot
- 34:35Speaker 2: of money on a lot of names. But where is
- 34:38Speaker 2: the growth? You know, I'm not seeing personally myself the
- 34:41Speaker 2: growth yet. But this could be a long term strategy,
- 34:44Speaker 2: you know, get people hooked.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's more of a long term play.
- 34:47Speaker 3: I really do, because here's the thing. You wouldn't invest
- 34:50Speaker 3: as much money just to get this fight done and
- 34:53Speaker 3: then back out. It doesn't make any sense because you've
- 34:55Speaker 3: also invested money into other fights too, So it feels
- 34:59Speaker 3: like this the long term investment. It's boxing is also
- 35:02Speaker 3: a lot more international as well, so there'll be other
- 35:05Speaker 3: fights made down the pipe. So I think it's a
- 35:08Speaker 3: good situation regarding that. With all that being said, we
- 35:13Speaker 3: do need to see more young and upcoming fighters. We
- 35:16Speaker 3: need to see hungry guys. We need to see guys
- 35:18Speaker 3: that we wouldn't recognize if we didn't see them fighting.
- 35:22Speaker 3: You know, there's a lot of three Put it this way,
- 35:24Speaker 3: everybody starts fighting at three pm. You don't just start
- 35:27Speaker 3: fighting at eight thirty pm local time, because you know,
- 35:30Speaker 3: it don't work that way. Everybody starts somewhere. Every boxer
- 35:33Speaker 3: starts somewhere. Every boxers fight starts before the crowd's in there.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Some people start fighting, some people start fighting when there's
- 35:40Speaker 3: no one seated. But that's how you start. So we
- 35:43Speaker 3: got to start learning and they custom more and more names.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Like think about they about in the last five years,
- 35:50Speaker 3: all the names that have and let's just say from
- 35:53Speaker 3: one thirty five to one seven, all the names of
- 35:56Speaker 3: the last five years have been all the same. They've
- 35:59Speaker 3: been all stale. We recycled all the same names. Hell,
- 36:02Speaker 3: pak Yaw's coming back to fight. We don't need that.
- 36:06Speaker 3: We need new blood. Like the sport only gets better
- 36:09Speaker 3: when we have new blood involved.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Agreed. I think maybe a good strategy if the Saudis
- 36:15Speaker 2: are really in this for the long haul want to
- 36:17Speaker 2: make an investment is don't just make these you know,
- 36:20Speaker 2: huge fights, huge names. Better be a fevol Canelo Crawford.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Start having smaller events with different names. Just say like,
- 36:27Speaker 2: this is our this is our version of Friday night fights. Uh,
- 36:31Speaker 2: Saudi night fights, and we're just having like eight guys
- 36:35Speaker 2: you've never heard of and women, Uh maybe not with
- 36:37Speaker 2: Saudi money, but coming up here. And then boxing fans
- 36:41Speaker 2: who just love watching matches, like you and me, we'll
- 36:44Speaker 2: tune in and we'll tell other people about it. Well,
- 36:46Speaker 2: you know, there's a lot of friends of mine that
- 36:48Speaker 2: don't care about boxing, but they'd be, like they've heard
- 36:50Speaker 2: me say, shag Her Stevenson, keep keep an ear out
- 36:53Speaker 2: for this young guy, you know, do a Bason, et cetera. Yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 2: So that's how it's going to work. And I think
- 37:00Speaker 2: that it's a lot of chakunaw i guess with the
- 37:04Speaker 2: with Turkeyella Shakes involvement, But there's got to be a
- 37:08Speaker 2: smaller investment. Gotta plant some seats with these younger guys
- 37:11Speaker 2: that you want to keep them on the Saudi payroll,
- 37:14Speaker 2: the Saudi promotion.
- 37:17Speaker 3: And you got the whole world watching. So this, this
- 37:19Speaker 3: is the only time you're gonna be able to do this.
- 37:21Speaker 3: You can't do a random event with this. You got
- 37:24Speaker 3: everybody watching, So it's the best time to do.
- 37:25Speaker 2: It, right. Maybe they should take a que from let's see,
- 37:30Speaker 2: maybe a promoter in the nineties who you know, signed
- 37:34Speaker 2: like eight heavyweights, eight of the biggest known names at
- 37:38Speaker 2: one time and just had all these guys you know
- 37:41Speaker 2: under his his uh, his promotional company and just you know.
- 37:47Speaker 3: What was the name of the company?
- 37:48Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm gonna have to look that up.
- 37:50Speaker 2: But anyway, how about we move on to the next
- 37:52Speaker 2: uh the next segment a recurring segment called pop Pugilism,
- 37:57Speaker 2: in which we discussed a movie, TV show or documentary
- 37:59Speaker 2: about Bock and say we're talking about Oh, look at
- 38:01Speaker 2: this don King only in America, made for TV film
- 38:06Speaker 2: that aired on HBO in nineteen ninety seven, directed by
- 38:09Speaker 2: a guy named John Hurstfield who's directed absolutely nothing you've
- 38:12Speaker 2: heard of before. The film star is not just the man,
- 38:16Speaker 2: but the god. Ving Raims as the notorious boxing promoter
- 38:19Speaker 2: Don King. He's the guy I was talking about a
- 38:22Speaker 2: few minutes ago who had eight heavyweights under his promotional
- 38:26Speaker 2: company at one time. So if he didn't make that connection,
- 38:29Speaker 2: I got a love to say about this movie. But first, Jamison,
- 38:31Speaker 2: what did you think about it?
- 38:32Speaker 3: Man? So I actually remember it when it came out,
- 38:35Speaker 3: I'm watching it several times. I watched it recently. It
- 38:40Speaker 3: told the story from the person's perspective, not necessarily lie.
- 38:45Speaker 3: So whatever moves are like that, I prefer personally someone
- 38:49Speaker 3: a third party telling the story. Sure, I personally prefer
- 38:52Speaker 3: that having someone tell their own story is interesting because
- 38:57Speaker 3: you know they're telling from perspective that quite covering everything.
- 39:02Speaker 3: But with that being said, it was cool. I mean,
- 39:06Speaker 3: he's Don Kings in a lot of boxing, man. And
- 39:08Speaker 3: like you mentioned, when the heavy right division was the
- 39:12Speaker 3: you know King of boxing and the crim Dela Krim,
- 39:15Speaker 3: he had all the guys, and you know, for the
- 39:18Speaker 3: most parts, he had all the guys. Now, they may
- 39:20Speaker 3: not have been happy at that time. They may have
- 39:22Speaker 3: had some issues, they made, have some grievances and disputes,
- 39:26Speaker 3: but he had all the guys and he was known
- 39:29Speaker 3: for being with winners. He was known for hey, if
- 39:34Speaker 3: you're if you got knocked out another flight of one,
- 39:36Speaker 3: he would step over you and go sub as the winner.
- 39:39Speaker 3: So it was very fascinating. However, the reason why I
- 39:41Speaker 3: always always preach on this show is that there's no
- 39:45Speaker 3: rules in boxing. It's not because of Don King, Like
- 39:48Speaker 3: he didn't have no college background. It was no sports
- 39:52Speaker 3: management degree, it was no uh, it was another It
- 39:55Speaker 3: was like, all right, well I kind of stumbled into
- 39:57Speaker 3: this and next thing you know, he's in boxing, and
- 39:59Speaker 3: he random sport. So that's why I always say, you know,
- 40:03Speaker 3: boxing is very random, man. This is a big part
- 40:05Speaker 3: of it.
- 40:06Speaker 2: No, absolutely, well let's start here. I love this movie.
- 40:10Speaker 2: I was in the right mood for a throwback, in
- 40:13Speaker 2: the right mood for a nineties HBO original film. These
- 40:16Speaker 2: things are low budget but not cheap, if that makes sense, yep,
- 40:20Speaker 2: And they have a particular feel. Look all that, you know,
- 40:22Speaker 2: I I love I love going to the movie theater.
- 40:25Speaker 2: It's one of my favorite things to do. You know,
- 40:27Speaker 2: I'm big on physical media and you know, have a
- 40:29Speaker 2: giant TV watching. You know, movies start to finish, but
- 40:32Speaker 2: movies like this kind of feel like they were meant
- 40:34Speaker 2: to be caught through channel surfing. You know what I mean, right,
- 40:38Speaker 2: channel surfing. I made me nostalgic for channel surfing back
- 40:41Speaker 2: in the day, trying to find something, you know, Saturday night.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Oh look, here's HBO. There's a horror movie that's already
- 40:47Speaker 2: thirty minutes in. Whatever. Let's put your feet up and
- 40:50Speaker 2: you know, watch the rest of it. Kind of a thing.
- 40:52Speaker 2: It's a lost art, even for myself because I don't
- 40:54Speaker 2: have I don't pay for you know, cable, I do
- 40:57Speaker 2: all the streaming stuff. So this movie just kind of,
- 41:00Speaker 2: like I said, it hit at the right time. Ving's
- 41:03Speaker 2: performance as Don King legendary. Honestly, I would say probably
- 41:09Speaker 2: his best performance based on all the ones that I
- 41:11Speaker 2: can think of off the top of my head. He
- 41:14Speaker 2: is so different from how he usually is in roles.
- 41:17Speaker 2: The biggest thing was the voice. If you listen to
- 41:20Speaker 2: Big Dames talk, he's man, He's got the deep, deep,
- 41:24Speaker 2: gravelly voice. He's doing the very dunkin kind of nasally
- 41:28Speaker 2: kind of you know, upbeat blah blah blah. He's dancing around,
- 41:32Speaker 2: he's he's like shaking his shoulders and it was just
- 41:35Speaker 2: so it was so fun to watch and as somebody
- 41:37Speaker 2: who's been watching Big Raames pretty much all my life.
- 41:40Speaker 2: I was, Yeah, I was blown away that I hadn't
- 41:43Speaker 2: heard of this performance. I hadn't heard I feel like
- 41:46Speaker 2: I've heard of this movie but never watched it. If
- 41:48Speaker 2: I did, I didn't remember any of it. But it's
- 41:53Speaker 2: got a really good cast, you know, Vondi Curtis hall Is,
- 41:56Speaker 2: Lloyd Price, a singer who introduced King Nahali helped promote
- 42:00Speaker 2: Rumble in the Jungle, was involved in the concert. We
- 42:02Speaker 2: talked about a couple episodes episodes ago when we talked
- 42:04Speaker 2: about the documentary when we were Kings, you got Keith
- 42:09Speaker 2: David in here, you got Bernie Mack as Ali's trainer.
- 42:12Speaker 2: But Nitie Brown, you know the coolest thing about this movie.
- 42:17Speaker 2: So now for this show, we've seen Ali, We've seen
- 42:20Speaker 2: Big George Foreman, we saw when we were Kings, the documentary,
- 42:24Speaker 2: and now this movie. All of those involved the Rumble
- 42:27Speaker 2: in the Jungle as a very very important event. And
- 42:29Speaker 2: it's like pieces of a puzzle, puzzle being put together, right.
- 42:33Speaker 2: It's like you're seeing different perspectives, different takes on the
- 42:36Speaker 2: same event. It's like it's like cover songs of the
- 42:40Speaker 2: different covers in the same song, and it's really cool.
- 42:43Speaker 2: And I like seeing you know, the same events stage
- 42:47Speaker 2: differently filmed different with different actors. It felt really cool.
- 42:50Speaker 2: And I don't know how much of this movie is
- 42:54Speaker 2: actually true. Like you said, when you have the guy
- 42:58Speaker 2: telling his own story, it's gonna pull the punches. But
- 43:01Speaker 2: even this, I was surprised that they were they were letting,
- 43:04Speaker 2: they were allowing the character of Don King to come
- 43:06Speaker 2: off as a scumbag in a lot of ways in
- 43:07Speaker 2: this movie.
- 43:08Speaker 3: But but also here's the thing too, So Don King
- 43:11Speaker 3: was a black man in a white man industry. There
- 43:14Speaker 3: wasn't a whole lot of black owned boxing promotion companies.
- 43:18Speaker 3: So even if he did allow someone else to tell
- 43:22Speaker 3: his story, and there's a chance that would have, wasn't
- 43:24Speaker 3: gonna be done well. So I understand the situation. I
- 43:28Speaker 3: get it. He was he wasn't supposed to be there.
- 43:32Speaker 3: But that being said, you know, he's a very fascinating guy.
- 43:37Speaker 3: But again, the reason why I always tell people boxing
- 43:41Speaker 3: is a different entity altogether is because there's no rules.
- 43:46Speaker 3: There's really no rules, like you will have to go
- 43:48Speaker 3: to court and get your money, you will have to
- 43:51Speaker 3: lose your composure, give what you need. You will have
- 43:54Speaker 3: to be strong in order to survive in this industry.
- 43:58Speaker 3: That's just how it goes. And Don King ain't not
- 44:01Speaker 3: dive from the bob Aram. They're all the same. They're
- 44:03Speaker 3: all the same, like, they're all the like. You can't
- 44:06Speaker 3: Here's the thing, the thing, the problem I have with
- 44:08Speaker 3: boxing is people will vilify one and applaud the other. True,
- 44:14Speaker 3: and they're both. They're all the same. They're all do
- 44:16Speaker 3: the same stuff. Like you can't argue that they're all grinding.
- 44:19Speaker 3: They all do certain things the boxers, so me, in
- 44:23Speaker 3: my opinion, with everything like that, I appreciate Don King
- 44:27Speaker 3: for the opportunities hate gave a lot of guys and whatnot.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I wish things could have ended differently with certain people.
- 44:35Speaker 3: I wish there are the business stuff would have been
- 44:37Speaker 3: handled smoothly because being black, we get a bad connotation
- 44:41Speaker 3: of doing business, so I wish he would have handed
- 44:43Speaker 3: that a little bit cleaner. However, at the same time,
- 44:45Speaker 3: he go only do so much, and you got a
- 44:47Speaker 3: guy like Mike Tyson who is out of control. And
- 44:51Speaker 3: I can't put Mike Tyson's emotional issues and mental issues
- 44:56Speaker 3: on Don King. However, I do know Don King probably
- 44:59Speaker 3: got over on my tyson once once or two times,
- 45:02Speaker 3: and it's just how it goes. But all in all,
- 45:05Speaker 3: Don King the film was dope, and Don King deserves
- 45:08Speaker 3: as flowers.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Sure, but he deserves criticism too for bilk nobody.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Let's make sure everybody assuming you you're doing something wrong.
- 45:19Speaker 3: If everybody got to take you to court or everyone
- 45:21Speaker 3: gotta lose their compose, you get the brand from you,
- 45:23Speaker 3: it's eventually a you problem.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like we need to definitely give Don
- 45:28Speaker 2: King as flowers for what he did, but let's make
- 45:29Speaker 2: sure that we're balanced here, and you know, being clear
- 45:33Speaker 2: that he screwed over a lot of fighters h and
- 45:36Speaker 2: you know, charge them for every little thing for lodging,
- 45:40Speaker 2: for towels or you know, they got a pittance of
- 45:43Speaker 2: what they should have made. And you know, and he
- 45:46Speaker 2: was a comment, you know, through and through. I did
- 45:48Speaker 2: like that the movie showed how there's a lot of
- 45:51Speaker 2: racial issues in this movie, a lot of talk about race,
- 45:53Speaker 2: which you know, we appreciate because that's what the show started.
- 45:57Speaker 2: As it's having these hard conversations. You know, he would
- 45:59Speaker 2: tell black fighters, you know, nobody's gonna support you like
- 46:02Speaker 2: another black man you know, he told Ernie Shavers, you
- 46:04Speaker 2: know this guy whatever he's he's a Jewish guy. I'm black,
- 46:07Speaker 2: You're gonna be better treated by me. H. He Also
- 46:10Speaker 2: he was a chameleon. You know, when he talked to Ali,
- 46:13Speaker 2: he immediately brought up Allah, and you know, he would
- 46:16Speaker 2: tell he would always find a way in with the fighter.
- 46:20Speaker 2: And yes, absolutely he was a comment. But also he
- 46:25Speaker 2: was always going to be less trusted because he was
- 46:28Speaker 2: not a white man. Let's be real about it.
- 46:29Speaker 3: That part and his stature, the way he carried himself,
- 46:33Speaker 3: it was a lot. He was a lot to deal with,
- 46:36Speaker 3: but all and although that being said, he was just
- 46:40Speaker 3: the first person to operate a certain way. And when
- 46:44Speaker 3: people don't like the first person that does something, so
- 46:48Speaker 3: when they see somebody an outsider doing what they've been doing,
- 46:51Speaker 3: they're like, wait, wait, wait a minute, you're and the
- 46:54Speaker 3: boxes he had at the time or over time, he
- 46:57Speaker 3: had a lot of great cash cows. So people were
- 47:00Speaker 3: looking at it like, wait a minute, you're messing. You're
- 47:02Speaker 3: stepping on our business now. So no one likes that.
- 47:05Speaker 3: But yes, there's a lot of issues. Again, if everybody's
- 47:08Speaker 3: sewing you, you don't want some city shouldn't you know
- 47:12Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Like, if they basically got a class
- 47:14Speaker 3: action suit against you for your business practices, then yeah, man,
- 47:18Speaker 3: like things ain't really right. But with all that being said,
- 47:23Speaker 3: he was good for the sport. He gave people that opportunity.
- 47:25Speaker 3: He kept guys busy, so you know, I can't necessarily
- 47:29Speaker 3: fault him, and he's part of the reason why guys
- 47:32Speaker 3: will fight so much, Like part of Tyson fighting a
- 47:35Speaker 3: bunch of times back in that time was dude, you know,
- 47:39Speaker 3: Don King. So those are things that I wish we
- 47:42Speaker 3: kind of had nowadays, but everything's so corporate now and
- 47:46Speaker 3: guys are socially awkward. I don't think we'll ever get
- 47:48Speaker 3: back to that ever again.
- 47:50Speaker 2: No question. So we remember seeing Don King on TV
- 47:54Speaker 2: for our entire lives, you know, and you know, I
- 47:57Speaker 2: remember the look, the hair, the own blah blah blah.
- 48:01Speaker 2: But I never knew until I was like way older
- 48:04Speaker 2: as an adult. You know, the stories of him, you know,
- 48:06Speaker 2: shady dealings, being con man, this and that, all the lawsuits.
- 48:10Speaker 2: So what do you know, Like, what was the public's
- 48:14Speaker 2: perception on Don King for ALTA? Did they know this
- 48:17Speaker 2: these kinds of things or was he just like, this
- 48:19Speaker 2: is the boxing guy, and that stuff came out later.
- 48:22Speaker 2: I just have no no reference.
- 48:25Speaker 3: We knew Don King as a boxing promoter. Boxing fans
- 48:28Speaker 3: and sports fans knew him as a shady promoter. So
- 48:31Speaker 3: he again, he was a guy that was the loud
- 48:35Speaker 3: guy with a lot of funny phrases, antidotes and all
- 48:38Speaker 3: that stuff. But if you were just a general sports fan,
- 48:41Speaker 3: you didn't know the ins and outs of what he
- 48:43Speaker 3: did or the issues he had unless it was Mike Tyson.
- 48:46Speaker 3: Because back in the nineties and of the two thousands,
- 48:49Speaker 3: Mike Tyson was breaking news. Whatever Mike Tyson did was
- 48:52Speaker 3: breaking news. Everyone wanted to find out about Tyson, this
- 48:55Speaker 3: Tyson that. So he was involved in a lot of
- 48:57Speaker 3: those things. With that being said, the casual fandit know
- 49:02Speaker 3: all the details, but they knew him as a very
- 49:04Speaker 3: popular guy with the hair and being woud and being
- 49:07Speaker 3: every fight, et cetera, et cetera. And he always had
- 49:09Speaker 3: a us A flag, which is a very smart move
- 49:12Speaker 3: by him.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Right, And our producer Jabari just reminded me that it
- 49:17Speaker 2: was widespread by the time of Rocky five. He says
- 49:20Speaker 2: they made the character based on him in ninety one,
- 49:22Speaker 2: which is a very good point. I remember the promoter
- 49:25Speaker 2: and that I forget what the character is supposed to be,
- 49:27Speaker 2: but didn't. Was it his catchphrase something like only the
- 49:31Speaker 2: USA or something like that. Yeah, like that. It's just
- 49:34Speaker 2: like it's like you, I don't know, but that I.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Mean, he's going the Simpsons, He's been in other like
- 49:40Speaker 3: they've hell, the right white hype is basically about don king,
- 49:46Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
- 49:47Speaker 2: So yeah, it's yeah, yeah, that's that's on our list
- 49:51Speaker 2: for future pop pugilism segments. So we'll be getting to
- 49:54Speaker 2: that eventually. But yeah, So another thing about the availability
- 49:58Speaker 2: of this movie. So apparently it's not on HBO Max
- 50:02Speaker 2: and a lot of the HBO nineties Made for TV
- 50:04Speaker 2: films are not on there, and I can't I couldn't
- 50:07Speaker 2: find like a physical media release. Our producer sent us
- 50:11Speaker 2: that bitch on YouTube looking fuzzy as hell. That's how
- 50:14Speaker 2: that's how I watch it.
- 50:15Speaker 3: Don't know about you.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I try to look forward on some of my
- 50:21Speaker 2: say gray market streaming services.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Nothing to be found.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Like I said earlier, I have a giant TV. It
- 50:28Speaker 2: really looked like I was watching it on a little
- 50:30Speaker 2: square piece of crap from back in the day with
- 50:33Speaker 2: the little buttons on them, with the VCR attached to it.
- 50:37Speaker 2: So all of that kind of, like I said, kind
- 50:39Speaker 2: of brought me back. But I think these movies should
- 50:42Speaker 2: be brought back for either streaming or you know, release
- 50:45Speaker 2: them on on DVD. You don't, you don't have to
- 50:48Speaker 2: get a fancy four K release, you know, let the
- 50:50Speaker 2: let these movies live, bring them back, let them breathe.
- 50:53Speaker 3: We need educational purposes. We need films for educational purposes.
- 50:56Speaker 3: There's not enough. There's too many young people that don't know.
- 51:00Speaker 3: They just don't know, and things aren't available so they'll
- 51:02Speaker 3: never know. But we need more of those available for sure.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Sure I'll take a chance to shout out a couple
- 51:08Speaker 2: of my favorite physical media boutiques. Keino Larber Releases releases
- 51:13Speaker 2: a lot of lesser known, kind of somewhat classic movies
- 51:17Speaker 2: you know on disc, Blu Ray four K, and Erro
- 51:20Speaker 2: video too. There's a lot of cool shit that they
- 51:21Speaker 2: find restore and Vinegar Syndrome. If you're looking for some
- 51:26Speaker 2: weird ship from when you know we were kids and
- 51:28Speaker 2: you saw something on TV, some weird horror movie or
- 51:30Speaker 2: crazy action movie. These places, find those things, restore them,
- 51:34Speaker 2: and put them out for the people. So you know,
- 51:36Speaker 2: I'm a strong believer in physical media because we can't
- 51:38Speaker 2: lose these honestly, like film is art and these are
- 51:43Speaker 2: historical important, historically important things, and we should we should
- 51:47Speaker 2: make sure that they're out there. So shout out to
- 51:50Speaker 2: whoever the hell put a VHS copy of Don King
- 51:54Speaker 2: Only in America on YouTube. You're you're You're my hero.
- 51:58Speaker 2: But hopefully, you know, we get to see these things
- 52:00Speaker 2: released in better quality. So here we rate our movies,
- 52:03Speaker 2: our TV shows out of four gloves. Jamison, how would
- 52:06Speaker 2: you rate the film Don King Only in America?
- 52:09Speaker 3: It'd be four of The stream was better, but nah, okay,
- 52:13Speaker 3: all in all, I would say three point five. Man,
- 52:14Speaker 3: it was. It was well done. Again it told the
- 52:17Speaker 3: story from the first person, the first party, so that's
- 52:20Speaker 3: always interesting. But all in all it was it was
- 52:24Speaker 3: really good film, very good film. Again seeing it seeing
- 52:26Speaker 3: it and it's time original time and seeing it now
- 52:29Speaker 3: is way different. But yeah, I'll say three point five.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Sure, and I think it holds up. I'd go three
- 52:35Speaker 2: point six sixty six because we were talking about Don
- 52:38Speaker 2: King the con Man, but it's a really fun movie,
- 52:41Speaker 2: had a good time ving Raim's phenomenal performance. And yes,
- 52:45Speaker 2: if you were interested in this and you got YouTube
- 52:47Speaker 2: and you don't mind looking at a really shitty stream,
- 52:51Speaker 2: check it out.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Well, it's definitely all right.
- 52:54Speaker 2: Last thing before we get out of here, we got
- 52:55Speaker 2: to mail that question on Twitter from the Mojo King.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Loyal loyal follower, appreciate you, mojo King. It's a question
- 53:04Speaker 2: that we've talked about before, not my favorite who wins
- 53:08Speaker 2: between such and such and system such? The question from
- 53:12Speaker 2: him is Prime Frasier versus Prime Tyson. Now, before we answer,
- 53:17Speaker 2: I've said before that I don't like doing the historical
- 53:19Speaker 2: stuff so much because there's so many actual fights we
- 53:22Speaker 2: can talk about that could possibly happen, and that's what
- 53:25Speaker 2: I like discussing more. We we could talk about what
- 53:30Speaker 2: could happen if Telfia Malope has fought Abdulla Mason. That's
- 53:32Speaker 2: something I'm more excited to talk about. But hey, you know,
- 53:35Speaker 2: shout out to the Mojo King from the nineteen Media
- 53:37Speaker 2: group family and we'll answer that for you absolutely. So
- 53:41Speaker 2: you got any thoughts on this, because because I think
- 53:43Speaker 2: I know who I choose.
- 53:45Speaker 3: Are we fighting seventies rules or eighties nineties rules.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Let's see, let's do let's put the difference. Let's say
- 53:53Speaker 2: eighties rules.
- 53:56Speaker 3: So fifteen round fight, Yeah, Fraser Fraser.
- 54:04Speaker 2: Why is that?
- 54:05Speaker 3: Because Fraser is gonna avoid getting hit with the big punch,
- 54:10Speaker 3: and the longer the fight goes, I'd probably favor him.
- 54:13Speaker 3: If you if here's the thing, it's this, it's a
- 54:17Speaker 3: class of styles. The defensive guy, if you can avoid
- 54:21Speaker 3: getting hit with the big punch, the longer the fight goes,
- 54:23Speaker 3: it favors him. If it's a shorter fight with faster pace,
- 54:27Speaker 3: favors Tyson. If you say eighties rules and at the
- 54:31Speaker 3: fifteen round fight, the longer the fight goes, it, I'll
- 54:34Speaker 3: take Fraser. However, if Mike gets him, he gets him,
- 54:38Speaker 3: and he's able to knock him out, then it's all
- 54:41Speaker 3: she rode. But if I had to like forecast a fight,
- 54:44Speaker 3: like I had to judge a fight within that predict
- 54:48Speaker 3: the knockout of the actual fight fight, I'd probably have
- 54:51Speaker 3: to go with Fraser. But if we're just saying, like
- 54:54Speaker 3: who would I prefer, And if it's just a fight
- 54:58Speaker 3: and Mike can get him, than I to pick Mike.
- 55:01Speaker 3: But I think that if I had, like predict how
- 55:04Speaker 3: a fight would go, and the defensive skills of Joe
- 55:08Speaker 3: Fraser being able to kind of confuse Mike and not
- 55:11Speaker 3: allow him to land that one big punch that I'd
- 55:14Speaker 3: probably go with Fraser.
- 55:16Speaker 2: I'd go Fraser as well for the reasons you said
- 55:18Speaker 2: of defense, but also let's not forget Fraser definitely move forward.
- 55:22Speaker 2: He definitely could be the aggressor. And that's the thing
- 55:26Speaker 2: about Mike is once they figured once opponents figured out
- 55:29Speaker 2: that you could throw him off his game by making
- 55:31Speaker 2: him move backward. That was all she wrote for Mike.
- 55:34Speaker 2: So I think that combined with the stamina for fifteen rounds,
- 55:39Speaker 2: the defensive skills Fraser could definitely block an uppercut, which is,
- 55:45Speaker 2: you know, the thing that just fucking killed guys that
- 55:47Speaker 2: Mike Tyson killed guys with. Yes, plus Fraser's persistence in
- 55:53Speaker 2: moving forward and overwhelming other fighters, I think I would
- 55:56Speaker 2: go Fraser for for those mostly the last one. Like
- 55:59Speaker 2: I said, you know, you just have to not be
- 56:01Speaker 2: terrified if Mike Tyson and I say that, like it's
- 56:04Speaker 2: fucking easy being a fat guy here talking to a microphone,
- 56:07Speaker 2: and I mean as the heavyweight fighter in the rig
- 56:11Speaker 2: with him. You have to not be terrified and you
- 56:14Speaker 2: have to make make him fight your fight is how
- 56:17Speaker 2: I would put it, and I think Fraser would have
- 56:19Speaker 2: done that. So yeah, with this question, I would go
- 56:22Speaker 2: I would go frasier between between the two of them.
- 56:24Speaker 2: So thank you very much to the mojo king over
- 56:28Speaker 2: on Twitter. Really appreciate that. And then we all have
- 56:31Speaker 2: other questions on social media. We have an email address

- 56:52Speaker 3: I miss the big boxing powwows you say on there.
- 56:56Speaker 3: I know the the app is not the same as
- 56:59Speaker 3: it used to, so we don't get the same love
- 57:01Speaker 3: on there that we used to when Big fives came on.
- 57:04Speaker 3: But on there for now, we'll see. I might go
