- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Writer, where we share a lesson each day to help you cultivate the habits for creative success.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Let me ask you an honest question.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Do you ever feel overwhelmed as a writer?
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: No, that's not a trick question.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: It's just an acknowledgement that anybody writing in our modern world can easily get overwhelmed by the sheer number of opportunities we have today.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: If you're like most writers, you probably have an email inbox filled with endless opportunities related to workshops, online summits, masterminds, seminars, courses, and other resources that can help you write, publish, and market your book.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And while those can be extremely helpful, let's be honest, it can feel a bit overwhelming at times.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: It's hard to know where to invest your time and energy.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Some writers get paralyzed by all the choices we have and they just give up out of sheer confusion.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: And if we're all being honest with ourselves, we can probably relate to that impulse to just want to give up sometimes.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: So, knowing all this, is there a way to simplify writing success?
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Perhaps some sort of basic equation that contains timeless wisdom about what it means to succeed as a writer.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Yes, there is.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Ray Bradbury revealed the ultimate secret to writing success when he said, just write every day of your life.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Read intensely, then see what happens.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Most of my friends who are put on that diet have very pleasant careers.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Now, granted, Ray Bradbury came of age as a writer in a different time period.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Even though he died less than a decade ago, he typically didn't have to contend with social media, podcast interviews, and all the extra things authors must do today to reach an audience.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: But yet, if we don't produce good work, there won't be anything to promote in the first place.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: That's why it's so critical to focus on these two essential tasks reading and writing, input and output, breathing in and breathing out.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Do those two things each day, and you will be well on your way to success.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode of the Daily Writer Podcast.
