- 0:00Speaker 1: President Donald Trump. There he is at the Kennedy Center.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I see him wearing a metal around his neck. We're
- 0:06Speaker 1: gonna listen live to this, producers, Okay, so let's go
- 0:09Speaker 1: ahead and listen live in a safe environment.
- 0:13Speaker 2: We want to unite. That's what we do here today.
- 0:15Speaker 2: That's what we'll do at the World Cup, mister President,
- 0:19Speaker 2: and you definitely deserve the first FIFA Peace Price for
- 0:25Speaker 2: your action, for what you have obtained in your way.
- 0:29Speaker 2: But you obtained it in an incredible way. And you
- 0:31Speaker 2: can always count, mister President, on my support, on the
- 0:35Speaker 2: support of the entire football community or soccer community, to
- 0:38Speaker 2: help you make peace and make the world prosper all
- 0:42Speaker 2: over the world. Thank you very much, mister President.
- 0:44Speaker 3: The floor is all yours.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Thank you, Thank you.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Well, thank you very much. This is truly one of
- 0:52Speaker 3: the great honors of my life. And beyond the words
- 0:56Speaker 3: Johnny and I were discussing this, we saved millions and
- 0:59Speaker 3: millions of life. The Congo is an example, over ten
- 1:03Speaker 3: million people killed and it was heading for another ten
- 1:06Speaker 3: million very quickly. And it just you know the fact
- 1:08Speaker 3: that we could do that in the Pakistan, so many
- 1:12Speaker 3: different wars that we're able to end, in some cases
- 1:16Speaker 3: a little bit before they started, just right before they started.
- 1:19Speaker 3: It was going to be late, but we got them done.
- 1:21Speaker 3: And it's such an honor to be with Johnny. I've
- 1:25Speaker 3: known Johnny for so long. He's done such an incredible job.
- 1:28Speaker 3: And I have to tell you you've set new records
- 1:31Speaker 3: on ticket sales, and not to bring that up because
- 1:35Speaker 3: we don't want to bring a thing like that up
- 1:36Speaker 3: right now. But it's an awfully nice tribute to you
- 1:39Speaker 3: and to the game of football or as we call it, soccer,
- 1:43Speaker 3: but football, and that is an amazing thing. The numbers
- 1:48Speaker 3: are beyond any numbers that anybody, even beyond what Johnny
- 1:52Speaker 3: thought was possible. I want to thank, by the way,
- 1:56Speaker 3: my family, my great first lady Milania, you're right here,
- 2:01Speaker 3: and thank you very much. And I think you're going
- 2:08Speaker 3: to have an event the likes of which maybe the
- 2:10Speaker 3: world has never seen. Based on the enthusiasm that I've seen,
- 2:14Speaker 3: I have never seen anything like it. We've had a
- 2:16Speaker 3: tremendous relationship working relationship with Canada. We have our Prime
- 2:21Speaker 3: Minister of Canada there and we have our President of Mexico,
- 2:26Speaker 3: and we've worked closely with those two countries. And the
- 2:30Speaker 3: coordination and friendship and relationship has been outstanding. And I
- 2:34Speaker 3: want to thank you both very much, and your country
- 2:36Speaker 3: is very much But most importantly, I just want to
- 2:39Speaker 3: thank everybody. The world is a safer place now. The
- 2:43Speaker 3: United States one year ago was not doing too well,
- 2:47Speaker 3: and now I have to say, with the hottest country
- 2:49Speaker 3: anywhere in the world, that we're going to keep it
- 2:50Speaker 3: that way. Thank you all, Thank you, have a great time.
- 2:53Speaker 3: And Johnny a tremendous honor. Thank you, Thank you, President,
- 2:58Speaker 3: thanks so much.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So there you have it. President Donald Trump received the
- 3:10Speaker 1: twenty twenty six FIFA Peace Prize Award for ending Wars.
- 3:14Speaker 1: This is the first of its kind awarded there at
- 3:17Speaker 1: these FIFA celebrations, and a lot to talk about here.
- 3:20Speaker 1: CBS News White House reporter Willy James Inman right there
- 3:23Speaker 1: under the very same roof as the President of the
- 3:25Speaker 1: United States. The President Willie earlier on the red carpet,
- 3:28Speaker 1: said he wasn't aware of any award, but he got it.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right, Reid. And he also said that he
- 3:36Speaker 4: doesn't need awards that he essentially wants to save lives
- 3:40Speaker 4: and unless remember this president has oftentimes boasted about his
- 3:44Speaker 4: ability to solve decades long conflicts. He mentioned in his
- 3:49Speaker 4: remarks there the conflict and the attention rather between India
- 3:54Speaker 4: and Pakistan, most notably a situation yesterday where he sat
- 3:59Speaker 4: down with the leaders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic
- 4:02Speaker 4: of Congo for a ceremony in which they signed essentially
- 4:07Speaker 4: a peace proposal that would bring peace to the action.
- 4:11Speaker 4: In of course, there are certain things that need to
- 4:14Speaker 4: be worked out with several groups there on the ground
- 4:17Speaker 4: in the Congo, still some tensions brewing there, but in
- 4:22Speaker 4: large the President receiving this award saying it was an
- 4:25Speaker 4: honor to receive it, thanking his wife, First Lady Millennia Trump,
- 4:29Speaker 4: who is also here attending this event. He also mentioned
- 4:32Speaker 4: the two other host nations of this tournament that will
- 4:35Speaker 4: take place next year, Canada and Mexico. Remember, there are
- 4:39Speaker 4: certainly a lot of conversations that the President can have
- 4:42Speaker 4: with both leaders of those nations, in large part focus
- 4:46Speaker 4: on a trade But with this rewarding of this inaugural
- 4:50Speaker 4: of FIFA Peace Prize, it really does show that the
- 4:54Speaker 4: leaders of this organization, including the president of FIFA, really
- 4:58Speaker 4: not only admire the President, want to make sure that
- 5:02Speaker 4: he is noted, and certainly his contributions to world peace
- 5:09Speaker 4: as they see it, should be awarded and recognized. Certainly,
- 5:13Speaker 4: the situation in the Middle East is certainly something that
- 5:16Speaker 4: the White House could point to and the President could
- 5:18Speaker 4: point two. But I'll note that war that has continued
- 5:21Speaker 4: to be deviled the president is a situation between Russia
- 5:24Speaker 4: and Ukraine, as US officials engage in shuttle diplomacy essentially
- 5:29Speaker 4: trying to bring about an end to that conflict, the
- 5:32Speaker 4: President himself meeting with both leaders of both of those nations,
- 5:36Speaker 4: including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelenski, the president
- 5:41Speaker 4: of Ukraine, trying to work out some type of deal
- 5:44Speaker 4: that hasn't happened yet, and the President saying on the
- 5:47Speaker 4: campaign trail that he could solve that war in just
- 5:49Speaker 4: one day. That hasn't happened, So that certainly has been
- 5:52Speaker 4: a major focus of the President's peace plan, his peace proposal.
- 5:56Speaker 4: With this award, though, it certainly does signify all of
- 6:00Speaker 4: those achievements as the President would see it, and as
- 6:02Speaker 4: others including the FIFA organization are signifying today with the
- 6:08Speaker 4: rewarding the President at that prize.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Willie James Inman thank you so much for that.
