- 1:15Speaker 1: views than our subscriptions. I get that. It's a little
- 1:18Speaker 1: it's a it's a it's a process. I know last
- 1:20Speaker 1: week when we were shutting off the podcast, it was
- 1:21Speaker 1: super hard to find because you had to be specific
- 1:25Speaker 1: on typing in at for the Dad's Pod. No space
- 1:28Speaker 1: is nothing, just like a user name in YouTube to
- 1:30Speaker 1: even find this channel. Now you can just type in
- 1:33Speaker 1: for the Dads and find it. But again, make sure
- 1:34Speaker 1: you're subscribed to the boys. We are on all socials.
- 1:37Speaker 1: At for the Dad's Pod are YouTube channels at for
- 1:40Speaker 1: the Dad's Pod. But yeah, subscribe to leave comments. The
- 1:44Speaker 1: comments have been amazing. They've been been awesome, dude. I
- 1:48Speaker 1: was the community is growing.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I was overwhelmed. I'll say this later, but I was
- 1:54Speaker 2: overwhelmed by all the comments and people that reached out
- 1:57Speaker 2: with my DMS. I was overwhelmed. It was crazy.
- 2:00Speaker 1: You want to read a few.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I would love to first of all, shout.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Out to people jumping comments. They got to know that
- 2:05Speaker 1: we're there, that we're showing up, that we're showing up.
- 2:07Speaker 2: One hundred percent. And to your point, shout out to
- 2:10Speaker 2: the eight point five k sickos that typed in at
- 2:14Speaker 2: for the Dad spot. I like to think they all
- 2:16Speaker 2: typed in at for the Dad spot, all typed it
- 2:18Speaker 2: in and they're absolute sig gos. They're Papa Team six.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I'll start out with Hunter Palell, he said Sherman, the
- 2:25Speaker 2: best gift you can give your wife is being the
- 2:27Speaker 2: dad she always wanted. My wife grew up with absent
- 2:30Speaker 2: dad as well, and she has told me watching me
- 2:32Speaker 2: be a dad and her knowing our daughter will grow
- 2:35Speaker 2: up with the dad has healed so many wins for her.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Being vulnerable in the comments is sick. Shout out Hunter
- 2:41Speaker 2: pal for them, you.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Shout out Hunter. I'm reading this one from Blake Blake
- 2:45Speaker 1: Lee four six four fellas, and this is a little
- 2:47Speaker 1: this this could be a little bit of a dad
- 2:48Speaker 1: hack because I didn't even I didn't even think about
- 2:51Speaker 1: this one, Fellas. Here's a major w from the first
- 2:54Speaker 1: member of Papa Team six, Chad GPT has walked me
- 2:57Speaker 1: through the absolute war zone of sleep training with my
- 3:01Speaker 1: two and a half year old slept nine hours straight
- 3:03Speaker 1: by herself last night for the first time in two years.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Oh four nights ago. I was asking myself, am I
- 3:10Speaker 1: built for this? Am I built for the a gap?
- 3:13Speaker 1: Am I truly a member of PT six? And this
- 3:17Speaker 1: morning I woke up and realized I might just be
- 3:20Speaker 1: Himmothy huge dad w for this dad of two. Shout
- 3:25Speaker 1: out the boy Blake.
- 3:26Speaker 2: That was Blake that said that, Yeah, Blake, Dude, shout
- 3:29Speaker 2: out Blake.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Blake Lee, Blake Lee four six four from PT six
- 3:33Speaker 1: in two years, Dude, I'm sitting there two nights and
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm thinking, oh, man too, like, I don't know how
- 3:39Speaker 1: much longer I can do it? Two years, two years, dude,
- 3:43Speaker 1: sleep sleep training is hard, man, Like I have you know,
- 3:45Speaker 1: knock on wood. I was lucky with the first two
- 3:48Speaker 1: route took a little bit longer than Scottie. And again,
- 3:50Speaker 1: shout out that twelve hours and twelve weeks book. But
- 3:52Speaker 1: it's a it's a war zone.
- 3:55Speaker 2: It's a war zone.
- 3:56Speaker 1: It's a process. Yeah, it's a process.
- 3:59Speaker 2: It's a than that Papa Seal can only take on
- 4:02Speaker 2: and to that point, Mike Cody eight one A two.
- 4:05Speaker 2: He kept it short and sweet. He said, Papa Team
- 4:07Speaker 2: six with the flex and don't forget trash today. Remember
- 4:11Speaker 2: what got us here, Trash Day got us here. But
- 4:14Speaker 2: also shout out Papa Team six. I took a photo today.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Today is actually my trash today. We record on Monday.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I took a photo. I forgot to tweet it. That's
- 4:23Speaker 2: the first thing. You gotta stay on it.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I got it. Papa Seals now, Papa Team six, we
- 4:28Speaker 1: gotta get out there. That's the way we engage and
- 4:30Speaker 1: build the community. Because people probably wondering, like I did,
- 4:33Speaker 1: see people wanting the fatherhood. I think I saw a
- 4:36Speaker 1: lot more for Papa Team six, a lot of tea.
- 4:39Speaker 1: At first, I was more of a fatherhood guy, but
- 4:41Speaker 1: then I got to thinking, I'm like, Papa Team six
- 4:44Speaker 1: is just more fun because you know me, I'm a
- 4:47Speaker 1: little sick o. I like to I like to rally
- 4:49Speaker 1: the army up every now and thedays. I like to
- 4:50Speaker 1: just you know, I never know what the how to
- 4:52Speaker 1: refer to it as just say like hey, you know.
- 4:54Speaker 1: For example, when I went to war with Expedia, a
- 4:56Speaker 1: couple of years ago, it was getting the army, taking
- 4:59Speaker 1: our nation into war and be ready to not come back.
- 5:03Speaker 1: There's a part there's a fantasy I have where you
- 5:05Speaker 1: just rally Papa Team six, whether it's in the comments,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you have fun on social media, you know, I have
- 5:10Speaker 1: those little fantasies, but also like playing into it. It's like,
- 5:14Speaker 1: you know you Let's say, for example, you post a
- 5:16Speaker 1: photo of your kid, it's like, welcome to the fatherhood.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Welcome to Papa Team six. Yes, you see the fatherhood.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I feel like that feels way more universal and generic.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Even though I think it's sick, I think it's cool,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and I do think we should get those upside down
- 5:29Speaker 1: fatherhood hats made. Yeah, but it seems like something that's normal. Right.
- 5:34Speaker 1: If you see like welcome to Papa Team six, Like
- 5:37Speaker 1: anybody that's outside of the audience that for whatever reason
- 5:39Speaker 1: might be on the page yes for the dead spot
- 5:42Speaker 1: and they see welcome to Papa Team six, it kind
- 5:44Speaker 1: of makes you pause for a second. Probably why does
- 5:46Speaker 1: everybody saying Papa Team six. It's kind of funny, kind
- 5:49Speaker 1: of like an inside joke, kind of like an inside
- 5:51Speaker 1: community thing, and only Papa seals understand.
- 5:54Speaker 2: You know, you know who the real real sickos are
- 5:57Speaker 2: in Papa Team six. Are those guys that we've been
- 6:00Speaker 2: doing PT six on Twitter. I've seen you do it.
- 6:03Speaker 2: I've done it myself. I've seen a couple others. People
- 6:06Speaker 2: on my wife's Instagram post posting a picture of scarlet
- 6:10Speaker 2: and people in the comments welcome to PT six. Sure,
- 6:13Speaker 2: I'm like, that's just sick of We need in a
- 6:16Speaker 2: good way.
- 6:17Speaker 1: We need a mobilized Papa Team six, not not for
- 6:19Speaker 1: the wars that probably will be had at some points
- 6:21Speaker 1: in time with the TikTok bombs of the world who
- 6:23Speaker 1: might come across clips of ours and you know it's found.
- 6:26Speaker 2: To happen at some point it will happen, but it
- 6:29Speaker 2: will happen.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Even for recruiting purposes. Yes, you just see somebody you
- 6:33Speaker 1: tag in somebody else's video. We need to get this
- 6:35Speaker 1: guy on Papa Team six. This is Papa Team six.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Potential shout out chef too.
- 6:39Speaker 2: He had an incredible idea for some merch of just
- 6:43Speaker 2: some dads coming through, like clearing a room and you
- 6:46Speaker 2: have one with the spatul that you got one with
- 6:48Speaker 2: tongs and he's like on a grill, another one coming in.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Maybe he's got the burp cloth and he's got the bottle,
- 6:54Speaker 2: but they like look military. They look like night vision goggles.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that would be electric.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Maybe a dad was strapped with a carrier with the
- 7:03Speaker 1: baby on the chest, double strapped.
- 7:06Speaker 2: He's got one on the back back.
- 7:10Speaker 1: It'd be so with the backpack on and then out
- 7:12Speaker 1: of the side sleeve you just see the top half
- 7:13Speaker 1: of a bottle. Yeah.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah. The above the detail the bomb diffuser would be
- 7:18Speaker 2: just a guy with the baby Breza and he's computing
- 7:21Speaker 2: on the baby Breza.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Be so good. BETWTV dot com. That's where you get
- 7:25Speaker 1: our merchandise. And I do I love the detail that
- 7:28Speaker 1: our merchandise has. Like there's one oh man, I was
- 7:32Speaker 1: I was posting about it yesterday, but I was kind
- 7:34Speaker 1: of going through all the detail of the wolf working
- 7:38Speaker 1: out in the weight room, like blood sweating beers like
- 7:41Speaker 1: on his shirt like for the dads or something, and
- 7:44Speaker 1: like you know, something down off to the side. But
- 7:46Speaker 1: there's a lot of like cool detail that I feel
- 7:48Speaker 1: like we get to have fun with now that we
- 7:51Speaker 1: get to make our own merch.
- 7:52Speaker 2: A hundred and just to tease the merchant general. We
- 7:56Speaker 2: got a shipment of the Bust and Summer beat the
- 8:00Speaker 2: Heat merch in uh last week, I believe. And just
- 8:03Speaker 2: seeing some of that, yeah, and I can't I'll just
- 8:05Speaker 2: tease it. It's insane.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Which product are you talking about? Because it's Wednesday, like
- 8:11Speaker 1: we have new merchants just dropped yesterday.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Okay, well so we do. We do have the Hawaiian
- 8:16Speaker 2: match Hawaiian matching set fire, which is fire, and I
- 8:19Speaker 2: don't like, I really don't want to tread in water
- 8:21Speaker 2: that I'm not supposed to do on teasing this merch
- 8:23Speaker 2: Do I have permission to go into detail. Yes, there's
- 8:27Speaker 2: some polos coming in that are on Are we talking
- 8:32Speaker 2: good material polos that some golf dads can wear? Yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 2: and one that is there's some girl dad homages with
- 8:40Speaker 2: one of the polos that I'm telling you, I cannot
- 8:43Speaker 2: wait to be on the golf course.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 8:45Speaker 2: This is not a pitch for the merch I want
- 8:49Speaker 2: to be on the golf course in this one polo immediately,
- 8:52Speaker 2: So keep your eyes out for that. It's so sick,
- 8:55Speaker 2: so sick.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Get his juice. Get the boys rocked up. The Boys
- 8:59Speaker 1: rocked up on a Wednesday mornings, out there just getting
- 9:02Speaker 1: the trash can bens out to the curve, just getting
- 9:04Speaker 1: rocked up. Listening to that little teaser.
- 9:06Speaker 2: There's so many w's with the l's, dude, there's so
- 9:09Speaker 2: many many.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So many w's, buddy, there are so many l's in Paragra.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And again, if you're new to this show, we run
- 9:16Speaker 1: over a lot of different things. We talk about our
- 9:18Speaker 1: dad losses, you know. We talk about what we crack
- 9:21Speaker 1: a cold one too? Ye? What are the odds yup
- 9:23Speaker 1: survival kit? What to put in the survival kits? Some
- 9:27Speaker 1: dad hacks, ye, Some lessons that we're learning along the
- 9:30Speaker 1: way in fatherhood to be a papa Seal quote. We
- 9:35Speaker 1: go through voicemails, call in six on one, the dad's
- 9:37Speaker 1: people call in. We've had a lot of call in. Chef,
- 9:40Speaker 1: Chef jack in the back, he uh, he has about
- 9:43Speaker 1: what four lined up for us today? Four good ones? Yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 1: four good ones. Even a mom called in. Even a
- 9:50Speaker 1: mom called in.
- 9:51Speaker 2: She knows what we're talking about. And Chef got a
- 9:55Speaker 2: shout out on the voicemail and just a little cheet
- 9:57Speaker 2: code for anybody that's on their voicemail to be put
- 10:00Speaker 2: on the show. You shout out chef at the top.
- 10:03Speaker 2: There's a good chance he's probably gonna listen to the
- 10:05Speaker 2: rest of it.
- 10:06Speaker 1: It is true.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Just a little dad hack, just a little datassage him
- 10:09Speaker 2: a little bit yo hey, and shout out chef, Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 2: che Jack.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I know you're listening to this right now, breaking down
- 10:15Speaker 1: this voicemail. Let me put a heater on you real quick.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, let me put a question up for the
- 10:19Speaker 1: boys real quick. Yeah, and it'll probably get you. You
- 10:22Speaker 1: fast tracked to the.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Flaffron will fast track you. He pulled one of them up,
- 10:26Speaker 2: and the shout out to chef was strong, and I
- 10:29Speaker 2: started hitting chef. When I was listening to it, I
- 10:31Speaker 2: was like that God knows what he's doing.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh yeah, six on one of the dads,
- 10:35Speaker 1: you call in. That's our hot line. We go through,
- 10:37Speaker 1: we go through calls, and at the very end of
- 10:38Speaker 1: the episode we roll credits. And the credits that we
- 10:41Speaker 1: roll are moments of parenthood or fatherhood that you have
- 10:44Speaker 1: with your little one. Maybe it's a gender reveal. Maybe
- 10:48Speaker 1: you're doing like uh, you're acting and you're playing dress
- 10:52Speaker 1: up with your daughter or your son. Maybe you're in
- 10:54Speaker 1: the backyard running around and playing. Maybe you're having a
- 10:56Speaker 1: nice dinner moment, whatever it is. We like to roll
- 10:59Speaker 1: some feet good moments. At the end of the episode
- 11:01Speaker 1: in our credits, just embrace, just to embrace the fatherhood
- 11:04Speaker 1: that goes on out there.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Embrace the fatherhood. Another quick shout out. We'll have a
- 11:08Speaker 2: plug at the end of episodes. Uh, you know, moving
- 11:11Speaker 2: forward for future episodes. But for the time being, the
- 11:13Speaker 2: National Parent Helpline. We shout him out last week. We'll
- 11:16Speaker 2: shout them out again really quick. That's one eight five
- 11:19Speaker 2: y five four to two seven two seven, three six.
- 11:23Speaker 2: That's the National Parent Helpline open twenty four hours they
- 11:27Speaker 2: you sorry, go ahead.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I was gonna say the National Parent Hotline. That's where
- 11:31Speaker 1: you go for real.
- 11:32Speaker 2: That's where you go for real help. Guys, if you're
- 11:35Speaker 2: calling in and you got some actual issue stuff that
- 11:38Speaker 2: you need to get off your chest, you need some
- 11:39Speaker 2: help at home, you will be matched with a masters
- 11:43Speaker 2: in counseling that's there to help you. Twenty four to seven.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So shout out National Parent.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yes, because we don't have a master's degree. No, this
- 11:51Speaker 1: is not an expert this is not an expert podcast.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Which, by the way, three MPT six.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Got a master's degree. You need PT six, which is fun.
- 12:01Speaker 1: You know a lot like you. We just we talked
- 12:03Speaker 1: through this stuff, all things fatherhood. But again we are
- 12:06Speaker 1: not experts on the show. And to go off that
- 12:08Speaker 1: I did have a bone to pick with Chef Jack,
- 12:11Speaker 1: oh no, because I said it last week. I think
- 12:14Speaker 1: I gave you a title or caption for the episode.
- 12:17Speaker 1: And I go on and I see Will Compton gives
- 12:19Speaker 1: parenting advice for your first child, And for whatever reason,
- 12:24Speaker 1: I get triggered by giving parenting advice being on like
- 12:27Speaker 1: YouTube and coming across like this is this is where
- 12:31Speaker 1: you go for advice. I don't mind that people enjoy
- 12:33Speaker 1: and consume it and use use tips, use stuff that
- 12:37Speaker 1: we talk about and help like help relate it to
- 12:40Speaker 1: their situation, and it might turn out to be advice
- 12:42Speaker 1: for them. But it's more of like the positioning of
- 12:45Speaker 1: Will gives parenting advice because I hate feeling like I'm like,
- 12:49Speaker 1: you know, talking to a group saying this is what
- 12:51Speaker 1: you should do, this is what you shouldn't do. More
- 12:54Speaker 1: is just like our own life experience. But that's a
- 12:56Speaker 1: tip you can write down for yourself, Chef Jack, Because
- 12:58Speaker 1: I know you probably got it from somewhere else and
- 13:01Speaker 1: they probably signed off on it, and he won't say who.
- 13:04Speaker 2: It is, and can I put chef Jacks?
- 13:05Speaker 1: But I'll come and hide on a phone call and
- 13:07Speaker 1: say I don't give a shit if the SEO and
- 13:10Speaker 1: this wording is better for the YouTube algorithm. I personally
- 13:14Speaker 1: don't like projecting that I'm the expert and I'm the
- 13:18Speaker 1: one giving advice.
- 13:19Speaker 2: And two, I've been in that seat with busting with
- 13:22Speaker 2: the boys, and to put you on game, Chef Jack,
- 13:25Speaker 2: the best move you could ever do is as soon
- 13:28Speaker 2: as they sign off on a title, copy paste it,
- 13:31Speaker 2: text it to this guy solo and say, hey, team
- 13:35Speaker 2: likes this, and this guy will rip it in five
- 13:38Speaker 2: seconds ago fuck that, go with this. And then all
- 13:41Speaker 2: you have to do is hit those people back and say,
- 13:43Speaker 2: Will's going with this? You're good? You're good. Oh yeah,
- 13:49Speaker 2: that's good advice. That's advice I learned. I have a
- 13:54Speaker 2: master and keeping Will Compton happy with his podcast. So
- 13:59Speaker 2: as long as you if I will, you're good, I.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Just pop on and I just it's the first five words.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Will Compton gives parenting advice, and I'll I was wanting
- 14:08Speaker 1: to break the screen. I didn't do it because I'm
- 14:11Speaker 1: I didn't want to hit up Chef Jack. We just
- 14:13Speaker 1: started our Fourth of July break. I don't want bad
- 14:15Speaker 1: vibes going on.
- 14:16Speaker 2: It was a wonderful fourth of July eight New intern,
- 14:19Speaker 2: New intern.
- 14:20Speaker 1: I know, I know, I'm not trying to come up hot,
- 14:23Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 14:24Speaker 2: But some of my favorite texts are those six am
- 14:26Speaker 2: texts that you, uh, well, I'll wake up to there.
- 14:30Speaker 2: It's a beautiful book that you put together. And I
- 14:34Speaker 2: truly I giggle a little bit. I am a little
- 14:35Speaker 2: scared because I'm like, I want to make Will happy,
- 14:37Speaker 2: but I do giggle a little bit imagining you in
- 14:40Speaker 2: your garage weight room, typing out that message.
- 14:44Speaker 1: In the middle of a set, stealing on it for
- 14:46Speaker 1: a couple of sets, just sitting there. All right, I
- 14:48Speaker 1: got three minutes rest on this one. I'm gonna fire
- 14:50Speaker 1: this one on.
- 14:50Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 14:52Speaker 1: I'll type in like half of it and then go
- 14:54Speaker 1: hit us and come back and be like all right
- 14:55Speaker 1: here here.
- 14:56Speaker 2: No, No, I can't say that because I told him.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I told him not to do that.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I know, against myself.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Did I'm not saying this. I could have sore. I
- 15:03Speaker 2: said this been there, been there.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a learn.
- 15:07Speaker 2: It's a learn, dude.
- 15:07Speaker 1: It's an intern loss.
- 15:09Speaker 2: It's an intern loss. We might learn after a minute.
- 15:12Speaker 2: It's something you crack.
- 15:13Speaker 1: A cold one too, is an intern Watch them just
- 15:15Speaker 1: killed this next chef just sitting back there not.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Yep, that the goat? The goat. Should we dive in? Yes,
- 15:24Speaker 2: I'm I'm in to dive in.
- 15:26Speaker 1: We had, I mean all an incredible weekend all around.
- 15:30Speaker 1: We went back home from Missouri for the fourth of July.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Some good parenting stories from that that will dive into.
- 15:35Speaker 1: But you're a dad, bro, it's crazy. You know, your
- 15:40Speaker 1: a couple of colaps, just a couple of laps. It's
- 15:42Speaker 1: only three of us here. And I apologize if you
- 15:46Speaker 1: heard that thunder it is raining outside. It is storming outside.
- 15:51Speaker 2: That was a man upstairs clapping saying, Yo, what hired
- 15:55Speaker 2: up for you?
- 15:55Speaker 1: Maybe you're a new dad. You're officially a Papa seal,
- 15:59Speaker 1: no more soon to be dad. You are now in it? Yes,
- 16:05Speaker 1: in it in a way to where we got to
- 16:07Speaker 1: keep this show under an hour. Dude.
- 16:09Speaker 2: We gotta keep it tight, and we gotta keep it
- 16:11Speaker 2: tight because I got to get back to my girls,
- 16:13Speaker 2: she'll probably see this when it comes out on Wednesday
- 16:15Speaker 2: of your.
- 16:15Speaker 1: First pediatrician appointment.
- 16:17Speaker 2: First pediatrician appointment. Honey, I will be there. I know
- 16:20Speaker 2: that we're watching this in the future. I will be there.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I love you. And I just checked my phone. I
- 16:24Speaker 2: don't know if that was on camera. I'm checking the
- 16:25Speaker 2: phone and see if you text me. Got to keep
- 16:27Speaker 2: it under an hour, got to keep it under to
- 16:29Speaker 2: keep it because I want to be a good popa
- 16:31Speaker 2: team six member. Uh do you want me to run
- 16:34Speaker 2: through it? Just like really quick?
- 16:36Speaker 1: Dad? Lost?
- 16:36Speaker 2: No, No, like run through the day. Oh yeah, of
- 16:39Speaker 2: course I can just run. Yes, you're fine, man, huge
- 16:45Speaker 2: shout out to everybody that reached out. That will be
- 16:47Speaker 2: my What are the odds this week? But going into
- 16:50Speaker 2: the day was incredible. Jill's a nurse. She is always
- 16:55Speaker 2: prepared for the worst because she knows what the worst
- 16:57Speaker 2: can be. And we know that every single birthing experience
- 17:03Speaker 2: is different, every delivery experience is different. We've got to
- 17:06Speaker 2: hear about Will's forty eight hour scenario for labor with
- 17:12Speaker 2: Sweet Charles in and at four centimeters and that.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Texted me he said, we're at four cinemets right, now.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I truly I texted Will because we get Yeah, let's
- 17:23Speaker 2: skip to that. I'll skip to that point. We we
- 17:27Speaker 2: fall asleep. We both fell asleep the very first night.
- 17:30Speaker 2: So we get in there. I was blessed with a
- 17:33Speaker 2: recliner chair, you son.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Of a bit. I know you had a recliner.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I didn't even want to say it.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Are you even a Papa Seal? Not if you didn't
- 17:43Speaker 1: sleep on the couch.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I if you have your master's in Papa Team six,
- 17:47Speaker 2: I am quite literally freshman year of my undergrad in
- 17:51Speaker 2: Papa Team six.
- 17:52Speaker 1: We need to make something where you can put like
- 17:54Speaker 1: the little patches. Oh yeah, and so pap you almost
- 17:57Speaker 1: know like, oh he experienced the couch.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Your vibes our general.
- 18:00Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. Yeah, you ain't gonna get that patch.
- 18:03Speaker 2: No, I'm a private. I'm a I'm a buck private
- 18:06Speaker 2: in Papa Team six, and I'm sending.
- 18:09Speaker 1: My skip the line. You get a recliner. Hey, let
- 18:11Speaker 1: me let me say it's good for you. I am
- 18:13Speaker 1: happy for you that I am a little envious. Yeah,
- 18:15Speaker 1: you know a lot of dads out there right now
- 18:18Speaker 1: pounding on their steering wheel.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you didn't have to sleep on a couch.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I sent it to the boys in the I have
- 18:23Speaker 2: a college group chat. Shout out Mike Evans. They'll know
- 18:26Speaker 2: what that means. But I sent that picture of the recliner.
- 18:30Speaker 2: I'm sure some of those dads in there. Fuck.
- 18:33Speaker 1: It's almost like that's how you earn your stripes.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Oh yeah, now that was the delivery room. I will
- 18:39Speaker 2: say post delivery room. No recliner. Couch was terrible. But
- 18:46Speaker 2: how long were you in this post delivery room? Oh?
- 18:49Speaker 2: A full day into the night, and then another full
- 18:53Speaker 2: day to about uh seven pm. So you slept on
- 18:57Speaker 2: the couch. Slept on the couch?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Are you lying to me?
- 19:00Speaker 2: Not lying to you?
- 19:01Speaker 1: Are you lying to me?
- 19:02Speaker 2: I'm not lying to you. I can call Jill if
- 19:04Speaker 2: I need you slept on the couch. She might tell
- 19:07Speaker 2: you that I slept too much on the couch. Okay,
- 19:10Speaker 2: she might tell you I slept too much on the couch.
- 19:12Speaker 2: But anytime we FaceTime, you look vibrant. That's what I'm saying.
- 19:16Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 19:18Speaker 1: We had So what did somebody? They said, somebody on here? Yeah,
- 19:22Speaker 1: Sean was like twelve hours. Is in saying you talking
- 19:24Speaker 1: about how you slept twelve hours last week. My nine
- 19:27Speaker 1: month old boy's teething right now, and we woke up
- 19:29Speaker 1: six times last night.
- 19:30Speaker 2: It's all part of it. Hope everything goes well.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Shirt Hey. Let you know, Sean, it sounds like everything
- 19:34Speaker 1: went very well for our boy, for our boys, shirm
- 19:37Speaker 1: doing great. You mentioned you got a Manny petty while
- 19:41Speaker 1: you were in there. I did.
- 19:42Speaker 2: We had, Hey, we have the Roku stick, huge, dad hack.
- 19:46Speaker 2: We brought the Roku stick in there so we are
- 19:48Speaker 2: extreame smart. It was incredible. We got Tommy Boy rolling
- 19:52Speaker 2: on the TV Jill and never seen Tommy Boy. Shout
- 19:55Speaker 2: out Tommy Boy.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Nice.
- 19:56Speaker 2: But Jill's overall note was I want you to have fun
- 20:01Speaker 2: and keep the mood light going into labor. That is
- 20:04Speaker 2: my only assignment to you, Sherman is I want to
- 20:06Speaker 2: keep it light. And I don't know if people that
- 20:09Speaker 2: follow me on Twitter Instagram saw that college football hype
- 20:12Speaker 2: video style I put it to scrilla. Oh buddy, it
- 20:16Speaker 2: was awesome. I loved watching it, made that hype video.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I didn't show it to her right before delivery, as
- 20:21Speaker 2: I'm sure people that we're reading it and this fucking
- 20:25Speaker 2: my question I have is Uh, was she the one
- 20:28Speaker 2: filming you? She wanted to Yeah, she wanted to film me. Okay,
- 20:32Speaker 2: so that shot.
- 20:33Speaker 1: When you when you're sitting there in your headphones and
- 20:34Speaker 1: going on im like laughing to myself, thinking are they
- 20:37Speaker 1: hit the hostle right now? And Jilli Bean you mind
- 20:40Speaker 1: you might just hit a little record for me As
- 20:42Speaker 1: I just kind of sit with my headphones on.
- 20:44Speaker 2: There's four people in the waiting room watching it go
- 20:48Speaker 2: down too, and they're probably looking at us like these
- 20:50Speaker 2: fucking idiots they.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Probay just a quick time out. Are your people hearing this?
- 20:57Speaker 2: I would assume they hear the rain, but not to
- 20:59Speaker 2: the degree that would be like it's loud right now?
- 21:02Speaker 2: It is right now? It is, But even with the
- 21:07Speaker 2: AC that was like running in the back. Oh, it
- 21:09Speaker 2: just got even louder. I know, I know. We might
- 21:13Speaker 2: want to wait for it to die down just a
- 21:15Speaker 2: little bit, or we can press on take five.
- 21:18Speaker 1: We can take five, but we gotta keep it under
- 21:20Speaker 1: an hour. Fuck, we interrupt this episode. Make sure you're
- 21:24Speaker 1: subscribed to the podcast. Just another reminder for the dads
- 21:26Speaker 1: out there, but we interrupt this episode because we are
- 21:29Speaker 1: sponsored by Roe Fellas. Are you ever sitting there some
- 21:32Speaker 1: late night, maybe you're in bed, maybe you got the
- 21:34Speaker 1: sleep mask on, and your wife she starts feeling on
- 21:36Speaker 1: your leg a little bit and you're just thinking to yourself.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Or maybe you're watching a movie on the couch and
- 21:41Speaker 1: she starts nestling a little close and you're thinking, is
- 21:44Speaker 1: this gonna happen to night?
- 21:45Speaker 2: And do I got it in me? There's no more
- 21:48Speaker 2: worrying about that?
- 21:48Speaker 1: Boys? Why because of Roe sparks. Roe sparks are a

- 22:51Speaker 1: to road dot co slash safety info. All Right, we're back.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Sorry for the quick interruption. It was as a dad
- 22:59Speaker 1: would say, it was raining cats and dogs outside, it's
- 23:01Speaker 1: raining cats and dogs, and say, you see, I got
- 23:03Speaker 1: some I got some rain on me right now. But
- 23:05Speaker 1: we had to adapt. We had to improvise. We had
- 23:07Speaker 1: to overcome as is parenting.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yes, welcome to for the dad's new studio.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we had to. We had to just get
- 23:16Speaker 1: on the bus because it helps with the sound. Is
- 23:18Speaker 1: the rain was getting so loud. I don't know if
- 23:19Speaker 1: you guys were hearing it in your audio, but it
- 23:21Speaker 1: gets so loud. At Term's voice gets a little bit
- 23:23Speaker 1: more faint. So we had to make a pivot. We
- 23:24Speaker 1: had to make a call because we got to keep
- 23:26Speaker 1: this under ant. We gotta keep it on. I got
- 23:28Speaker 1: to keep it under an hour.
- 23:29Speaker 2: I told Jill two thirty. It's one forty three.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll keep it.
- 23:33Speaker 2: We'll keep it under an hour, and you know it.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I don't want to talk hypotheticals, talk hypothetical Uddie.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I love you. I'm gonna make it to that.
- 23:41Speaker 1: But if you're home at two thirty seven.
- 23:44Speaker 2: That's fine.
- 23:45Speaker 1: It's a dad loss, dad loss. Good for the show,
- 23:48Speaker 1: great for the show. But we had to make a change.
- 23:51Speaker 1: So we're we're in a different studio right now. We're
- 23:52Speaker 1: on the bus with the boys studio. I appreciate you
- 23:55Speaker 1: doing am make sure you subscribe, but sometimes you gotta
- 23:57Speaker 1: you gotta adapt on the the environment, the elements to you. Yeah,
- 24:01Speaker 1: we got some elements. Sometimes you're gonna want to be
- 24:02Speaker 1: at a pool thinking you're gonna be at the pool
- 24:04Speaker 1: for about four hours, and it's gonna cut short and
- 24:06Speaker 1: go to two because someone's losing their mind. I'm talking
- 24:08Speaker 1: to you, Rue, but uh, carry on with carry on
- 24:13Speaker 1: with your story. I kind of forgot where we were,
- 24:16Speaker 1: but I did have a what are the odds? Oh you,
- 24:19Speaker 1: I had what are the odds? I like that what
- 24:22Speaker 1: are the odds? Shout out the shout out the partner
- 24:24Speaker 1: fan duel in the background. But I had a what
- 24:25Speaker 1: are the odds. What are the odds that Jill stayed
- 24:32Speaker 1: at fort Is that Mitch, it's Matt. Yeah, we're recording.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Hey, shout out, Matt entered Matt.
- 24:41Speaker 1: What are the odds that Jill sat at four centimeters
- 24:47Speaker 1: over under an hour? What are the odds that you
- 24:51Speaker 1: had an incredibly smooth delivery, one that a lot of
- 24:58Speaker 1: parents would be.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Jel one that people legitimately would get angry about, like
- 25:04Speaker 2: when I facetimed you yesterday and you were checking in
- 25:08Speaker 2: on the FAM and yeah, how to go blah blah blah,
- 25:11Speaker 2: Like a part of me, it hurt a part of
- 25:13Speaker 2: me to tell you how our experience went, because it
- 25:16Speaker 2: was so good.
- 25:17Speaker 1: It was just what everybody wants.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Which is what everybody if you have.
- 25:20Speaker 1: An experience like I'm thinking like mine, like who knows
- 25:23Speaker 1: how it's gonna go in there? Then you're out great.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Everything was if anything, As a dad, I don't want
- 25:29Speaker 1: to tell Charle how smooth it went, yeah, because she's
- 25:33Speaker 1: gonna be off, just kidding, she's gonna no, no, no,
- 25:35Speaker 1: But truly, I mean for some of these moms and stuff,
- 25:38Speaker 1: like they get there too late, they don't get there
- 25:40Speaker 1: epidural what everybody. Everybody hopes for the delivery you're about
- 25:45Speaker 1: to tell us about.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Of course, and Jill, I mean, it absolutely kills it.
- 25:49Speaker 2: My one of my favorite moments I'll never forget is
- 25:53Speaker 2: we uh both fall sleep, Jill though it's like sleeping
- 25:56Speaker 2: in our intervals or like an hour thirty interval, but
- 26:00Speaker 2: because nurse is coming in and checking her because they
- 26:03Speaker 2: gave her the induction in the mouth and I forget
- 26:06Speaker 2: the name of that pill. But that's not the potosin.
- 26:10Speaker 2: That's not the it's the one before potosinin, pre potosin pill.
- 26:15Speaker 2: So they give her pre potosent pill. It did it
- 26:17Speaker 2: didn't really do anything. So during the middle of the
- 26:21Speaker 2: night while I'm snooze on recliner being dead of the year, they.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Sweet know I just edited up this video. You did
- 26:27Speaker 1: a great job in the past.
- 26:29Speaker 2: I would just literally what I did. You go over there,
- 26:36Speaker 2: I'm in the recliner doing this. I'm going like this
- 26:39Speaker 2: here in the bed, I'm holding her hand like truly
- 26:43Speaker 2: was so comfy, dude, It's kind of insane how well
- 26:47Speaker 2: it is. Yes, this is me and a recliner with Jill.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Brought these like silk pillows and I have a Barefoot
- 26:55Speaker 2: Dreams blanket.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Like I'll tell you what you hat. Like your survival
- 26:59Speaker 1: kid was ready to.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Go because of jillybe I mean, Jill was so freaking
- 27:04Speaker 2: dial dude. And when we have more time, I want
- 27:07Speaker 2: to do a full survival kit breakdown to everybody, because
- 27:11Speaker 2: it looked like we're going on a two week vacation
- 27:13Speaker 2: with those bags that we were bringing in worth we
- 27:16Speaker 2: used every single thing we brought, and I swear to
- 27:20Speaker 2: god we did because the luggage, it may look like
- 27:23Speaker 2: that was all closed. It was really like a ton
- 27:25Speaker 2: of gear burp cloths, diapers. Uh was it called a
- 27:31Speaker 2: premie diaper? Because uh Scarlet was tiny five five pounds
- 27:36Speaker 2: seven ounces when she came out five pounds seven ounces,
- 27:39Speaker 2: She's smaller than a baby doll. And so we're having
- 27:42Speaker 2: to use the premi uh dipe's and all this stuff.
- 27:45Speaker 2: But we'll we'll do that another time, and like that
- 27:48Speaker 2: could even be a great like if Jill wanted to
- 27:50Speaker 2: do a call in or something.
- 27:53Speaker 1: We need to have the wives, Yeah it's gonna happen.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Jill's survival kit was not so dude, and so
- 28:01Speaker 2: like we really were set up for the absolute worst.
- 28:05Speaker 2: That thank god never happened. And so my favorite moment
- 28:10Speaker 2: was waking up at like six am, and it was
- 28:12Speaker 2: truly like the scene and Saving Private Ryan where he
- 28:16Speaker 2: loses his hearing on the beach and that guy's and says,
- 28:19Speaker 2: what do we do now?
- 28:20Speaker 1: Sir.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Jill's like over me. Netflix says are you still watching
- 28:25Speaker 2: blah blah blah like on the screen, and she's like, honey,
- 28:30Speaker 2: I'm contracting, yeah, yeah, yeah, and I get out of
- 28:33Speaker 2: the recliner. She's doing the So what unbeknownst to me
- 28:39Speaker 2: in the middle of the night, that thing that they
- 28:41Speaker 2: put in her mouth. They then did it in the
- 28:43Speaker 2: downstairs later that night to see how that would go. Well,
- 28:48Speaker 2: she went from two. She showed up two centimeters dilated
- 28:53Speaker 2: and for the dad's at home, that's just the cervix,
- 28:56Speaker 2: which is kind of the gate that the baby has
- 28:58Speaker 2: to go through to enter into the opening where the
- 29:02Speaker 2: baby's gonna come out. So she shows up at a two.
- 29:05Speaker 2: That little thing that they inserted got her to a four.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Nurse comes in checks her, she's at four centimeters. In
- 29:11Speaker 2: my head, I go, oh bub because we have a
- 29:14Speaker 2: family friend that said at four centimeters as well. For
- 29:17Speaker 2: a long time. Not as long as Charro, but a
- 29:19Speaker 2: long time. So I hear four centimeters, I think of you,
- 29:22Speaker 2: and I think of our family friend. I text you
- 29:24Speaker 2: and I say we're at four centimeters. And in my
- 29:27Speaker 2: head it's like, we're at four centimeters. We're at four centimeters.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I'm just like, oh no, that likes.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Old trigger number.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Oh please, please please. So then they hit her with
- 29:35Speaker 2: the potosin. We go about three or four hours. All
- 29:39Speaker 2: of a sudden, Jill is like, I really feel pressure,
- 29:43Speaker 2: like Sherman, I feel pressure and it feels like I
- 29:46Speaker 2: need to poop. And they say that if you feel
- 29:49Speaker 2: like you need to poop, you're gonna have your baby.
- 29:51Speaker 2: And so she tells nurse it's only been three hours
- 29:54Speaker 2: since the potosin. So nurse is kind of like, we'll
- 29:57Speaker 2: get the midwives in here in a little bit, Well
- 30:00Speaker 2: them check you. And then she kind of stopped and
- 30:02Speaker 2: she looked at Jill and she was like, how much pressure?
- 30:04Speaker 2: And Jill was like a lot of pressure. Well, she
- 30:07Speaker 2: gets her flashlight out, goes underneath the hood, goes, we'll
- 30:11Speaker 2: get the midwives. Midwives come in, they go fully dilated.
- 30:15Speaker 2: She went from four to ten in three hours. Oh,
- 30:18Speaker 2: my four to ten centimeters in three hours.
- 30:21Speaker 1: The white walkers were at the wall, at the.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Wall, and this walker on the wall was having to
- 30:28Speaker 2: get in the zone. In that moment, it was like
- 30:30Speaker 2: everything stops. And thankfully Jill had kind of like trained
- 30:35Speaker 2: me and put me through the ringer to know what
- 30:38Speaker 2: to expect.
- 30:39Speaker 1: So why you have your coffee?
- 30:42Speaker 2: No, didn't have coffee the entire time I was there.
- 30:45Speaker 2: But the one thing that I forgot to say, dude,
- 30:48Speaker 2: is Jill was like, I want to feel some of
- 30:50Speaker 2: the contractions before I get the epidural. But Sherman, it's
- 30:54Speaker 2: your job make sure that I get on that epidural.
- 30:58Speaker 2: I don't want to miss it. Blah blah blah. When
- 31:00Speaker 2: she was sitting at four and like contracting really hard,
- 31:03Speaker 2: like before they came in to say she was at ten,
- 31:07Speaker 2: She's like, I don't know, sh I gelln the epidural.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Sh I'm like in my head like Rocky too or
- 31:13Speaker 2: Rocky four, throwing the damn towel, Like I'm sitting there
- 31:16Speaker 2: going take the epidural right now? Why are we waiting?
- 31:20Speaker 2: She's like, I want to finish my yogurt because I
- 31:22Speaker 2: can't eat after I have epidura. I got the yogurt.
- 31:26Speaker 2: I'm force feeding your yogurt. I'm like, finish this freaking yogurt.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Because you like girl, you gotta get the epidural. We
- 31:33Speaker 2: get the epidural. They come in, She's at a ten.
- 31:36Speaker 2: We gotta start pushing. Right before we're about to push,
- 31:40Speaker 2: they're like, hey, we don't have an o R room
- 31:42Speaker 2: open for Jill in case things go south, so we
- 31:46Speaker 2: have to suspend pushing as long as we can Jill
- 31:49Speaker 2: until an our room, an operating room opens up in
- 31:52Speaker 2: case things go south. In the meantime, would you want
- 31:56Speaker 2: anesthesiologists to come in and give you another hit because
- 32:01Speaker 2: it seems like you have a lot of discomfort. Jill
- 32:04Speaker 2: was like, yes, that was the biggest blessing in disguise.
- 32:06Speaker 2: They came in, dude and mainlined some stuff into Jill,
- 32:10Speaker 2: and Jill gives me that look. After fifteen minutes of
- 32:12Speaker 2: getting mainlined with whatever they put in that cocktail, she's like,
- 32:17Speaker 2: I'm ready to push. I feel good, like I'm ready
- 32:20Speaker 2: to go. And they came in. They tell her, Hey,
- 32:25Speaker 2: you're gonna do three pushes per round. It looks like
- 32:27Speaker 2: this dad, you're gonna hold feet the other nurse is
- 32:31Speaker 2: gonna hold the other foot.
- 32:32Speaker 1: You're holding feet, so you're south of the wall.
- 32:35Speaker 2: I was a watcher on the wall I had. I
- 32:39Speaker 2: was able to see south of the wall where the
- 32:41Speaker 2: white Walkers were coming, and I was or sorry, north
- 32:44Speaker 2: of the wall where the white Walkers are coming and
- 32:46Speaker 2: south of the wall. So I was able to see
- 32:48Speaker 2: both concentrating on Jill but also like interested in seeing
- 32:53Speaker 2: what's going on down there, because midwife was like, Dad,
- 32:56Speaker 2: if you want to look, baby's head is literally right there.
- 32:58Speaker 2: That was before we even started pushing. It's because little
- 33:02Speaker 2: Scarlet is so small, dude.
- 33:04Speaker 1: She just positioned well.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Positioned well, she knew her role. She was like, I'm ready,
- 33:10Speaker 2: We're doing this right now.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I do.
- 33:13Speaker 2: I've never been more proud of Jill. Jill was such
- 33:16Speaker 2: a gangster dude, like such a stud. During the pushing,
- 33:20Speaker 2: she did four rounds of three pushes, and each time,
- 33:24Speaker 2: like on the third push, I'd be like, there's not
- 33:26Speaker 2: a shot in hell, She's gonna give it what she
- 33:28Speaker 2: did the first two, the third one would always be
- 33:30Speaker 2: the strongest. Scarlet would move the most. On the third one.
- 33:34Speaker 2: You would hear the midwives go good, there it is there,
- 33:37Speaker 2: it is And I'm sitting there and I'm like, Jill's
- 33:40Speaker 2: a beast, dude. She just covered in sweat and each
- 33:44Speaker 2: time just taking the biggest breast and just bearing down.
- 33:48Speaker 2: I was like, God, I'm so proud of her, Like
- 33:50Speaker 2: she's freaking killing it. And then on the fourth round
- 33:53Speaker 2: of pushes, Scarlet came out. On the third round, Midwife
- 33:56Speaker 2: looks at her right before we start the fourth pushes
- 34:00Speaker 2: and looks at Jill and goes, hey, it's a really
- 34:04Speaker 2: cool moment for moms that i can get her out
- 34:07Speaker 2: very easily.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I'm not worried.
- 34:08Speaker 2: I'm gonna get her to her torso and you can
- 34:11Speaker 2: reach down and physically pull her up if you want
- 34:13Speaker 2: to do that. Are you interested in that?
- 34:14Speaker 1: Jill?
- 34:15Speaker 2: And Jill was like, yeah, I want to do that.
- 34:17Speaker 2: She was like, okay, when I tell you you reach
- 34:19Speaker 2: it out, you'll grab her and you just bring her
- 34:22Speaker 2: to your chest. And on that third push they got
- 34:25Speaker 2: Scarlet out to her torso. She was holding her umbilical
- 34:29Speaker 2: cord like Batman doing his you know, little gun, and
- 34:32Speaker 2: she comes out like this, and Jill just reached down
- 34:35Speaker 2: there and grabs Scarlet and brought her to her chest.
- 34:37Speaker 1: It was unreal, dude, that is incredible.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I'm looking at my wife like, who are you? Like,
- 34:44Speaker 2: that's so sick.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Isn't it wild seeing your wife go through that.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Yes, And I told her like beforehand, I don't know
- 34:52Speaker 2: because I don't know childbirth, but I'm like, if there's
- 34:55Speaker 2: anybody that can do it, it's you. Like, she's such
- 34:57Speaker 2: a pusher, she's such a grinder, Like, yeah, she just
- 35:01Speaker 2: has that mentality, but she also has a lot of
- 35:04Speaker 2: fearfulness and anxiety. Yeah, and beforehand, I was like, if
- 35:07Speaker 2: anybody's got it, it's you. You're going to destroy this.
- 35:11Speaker 2: And then to see her go out on the field
- 35:13Speaker 2: and perform like you think she's going to make a
- 35:17Speaker 2: coach proud, Make a coach proud, dude, and then that
- 35:20Speaker 2: moment was scarlet.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Man.
- 35:21Speaker 2: I can send you some picture, chef, if you want
- 35:24Speaker 2: to put on the episode. Dude, I'm water works obviously.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Y'all saw me last week.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Dude.
- 35:30Speaker 2: It was amazing. It was amazing.
- 35:33Speaker 1: That's incredible, bro.
- 35:34Speaker 2: And yeah, and I hope that on like everybody that
- 35:40Speaker 2: has a delivery coming up, expecting fathers and stuff. You
- 35:43Speaker 2: wish that on everybody. But we were blessed enough to
- 35:46Speaker 2: have that and it was awesome.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Any any lapses on your part, any any dad losses?
- 35:52Speaker 1: I did.
- 35:53Speaker 2: I actually have a dad loss, but it's a it's
- 35:55Speaker 2: a motherfucked this week? Do you have a dad loss?
- 35:58Speaker 1: I do have a dad loss.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Do you want to go first? I can do my
- 36:00Speaker 2: mother from.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so my dad loss this week is going to
- 36:03Speaker 1: go to a dad loss that I took losing I
- 36:09Speaker 1: lost control of myself, losing control of Rue.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Oh no.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yeah. So we got back from our fourth of July,
- 36:19Speaker 1: from our fourth of July weekend. We got back on Saturday,
- 36:22Speaker 1: and we went to the pool on Sunday, and we
- 36:25Speaker 1: were expecting to be we got there early, so that
- 36:28Speaker 1: way we had a good, good little spot, good little setup,
- 36:30Speaker 1: and we're gonna enjoy a little pool day and we're
- 36:34Speaker 1: hoping to be there probably around four hours. And it
- 36:37Speaker 1: got cut short two two and a half hours because
- 36:40Speaker 1: Rue ended up losing her mind throwing a tantrum and
- 36:44Speaker 1: it was one of those ones where she was throwing
- 36:47Speaker 1: a tantrum and it was like all right. We told like,
- 36:51Speaker 1: I told her, I'm like, hey, if you don't stop
- 36:53Speaker 1: doing this, I'm gonna have to take you somewhere else.
- 36:56Speaker 1: We're gonna have to leave the pool and walk somewhere
- 36:58Speaker 1: until you can calm down. Because she wanted it. She
- 37:01Speaker 1: was very particular. It's like you have a three year
- 37:03Speaker 1: old and their brains, they're just their vocabulary is growing.
- 37:07Speaker 1: They're they're understanding a lot more, but they're also limited
- 37:10Speaker 1: in how they can like verbally communicate. So they're just
- 37:12Speaker 1: dealing with big emotions on how to communicate perfectly. Because
- 37:16Speaker 1: she's very particular. Yeah, and we were like playing this
- 37:19Speaker 1: game in the pool where you know, she had this
- 37:21Speaker 1: crab and she wanted to either drop the crab down
- 37:25Speaker 1: underwater and go down and get it by herself, but
- 37:28Speaker 1: she couldn't do it by herself. So I'm like, do
- 37:29Speaker 1: you want that to help? You know? I can do
- 37:31Speaker 1: it by myself. And I'm like, okay, do by myself. No, No,
- 37:34Speaker 1: I can't. I can't. And so you're just caught in
- 37:37Speaker 1: this argument of like what do you want? Yeah, like notebook,
- 37:41Speaker 1: what do you want? Real? Yeah, what do you want? Rue?
- 37:45Speaker 1: Like you have to you're telling me you don't want help,
- 37:48Speaker 1: But I'm like, okay, you go ahead and do it.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I can't. I can't do it by myself. Okay, well
- 37:52Speaker 1: then you need me. What do you need me to do?
- 37:54Speaker 1: And we're kind of caughting this back and forth, so
- 37:56Speaker 1: I pigure out, my we're gonna have to get out
- 37:57Speaker 1: of the pool, go and remove it from the situation,
- 38:00Speaker 1: remove it from the environment. She's having a tantrum. You
- 38:02Speaker 1: can't communicate well when they're having a tantrum, so you're
- 38:05Speaker 1: just trying to You're just trying to like be their
- 38:07Speaker 1: form so that way they can calm down.
- 38:09Speaker 2: You're getting there to the sideline, You're you're showing their tape.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and these tantrums, Bro, I'm talking fucking insane. It's
- 38:16Speaker 1: like I have to. I hate to be like the
- 38:20Speaker 1: dead law you'll see one day. But it's like, Bro,
- 38:22Speaker 1: they're like shaking their they're stiffening their bodies up, like
- 38:25Speaker 1: you try to try to pick them up. And I'm
- 38:27Speaker 1: trying to like hug her and trying to force hug
- 38:28Speaker 1: her and let her know to come down, and she's
- 38:30Speaker 1: just like full stiff, like streaming. Yeah, She's like I
- 38:36Speaker 1: want mama, I want mama. And I'm like, I'll take
- 38:38Speaker 1: you to mama if you can just calm down just
- 38:40Speaker 1: a little bit, go over to Mama, because you know
- 38:42Speaker 1: they're they're out, We're like we're in public, so you
- 38:44Speaker 1: feel like you're getting the looks. You feel like you're
- 38:45Speaker 1: getting all these things. Yeah, I'm probably my own head
- 38:48Speaker 1: about it a little bit. I'll take you back over
- 38:50Speaker 1: to Mama when you can calm down. And she's fucking screaming, like, Mama,
- 38:55Speaker 1: see Mama, see Mama like this that the other room.
- 38:57Speaker 2: You have to calm down, like she wants to see.
- 38:59Speaker 1: You're gonna work yourself up. You're gonna it's it's gonna hurt.
- 39:01Speaker 1: You're trying to like say all these things to her,
- 39:03Speaker 1: try to get her to calm down. And I'm standing
- 39:06Speaker 1: there and she's just like sitting down in the corner
- 39:08Speaker 1: and she continues to scream, and I just fucking I
- 39:11Speaker 1: lost it. I lost it. There's like like a demonic
- 39:17Speaker 1: part of my soul started to fill up. I was
- 39:19Speaker 1: getting so angry inside, and I was trying to stay calm.
- 39:22Speaker 1: I was trying to stay collected.
- 39:24Speaker 2: I saw that NCA Impact player at Nebraska.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, And I was like me, wasn't
- 39:35Speaker 1: they just see my face? They probably know what I'm
- 39:37Speaker 1: talking about too, And I just reached down there. It's
- 39:42Speaker 1: like it's like I'm sitting there, I'm thinking about all
- 39:44Speaker 1: the times my dad would just spank me, and I'm
- 39:46Speaker 1: thinking I'm not gonna spank her, and I just I
- 39:48Speaker 1: just grab her. I'm like, crow, hey, I'm gonna, I'm
- 39:50Speaker 1: gonna we're gonna go to Mama. We are gonna go
- 39:52Speaker 1: to mom right now. And she's like looking away. I'm
- 39:55Speaker 1: like look at me, and she's like looking away, and
- 39:57Speaker 1: I grab her by the face and look over. I'm like,
- 39:58Speaker 1: look at me. Take you to mom. But you better
- 40:01Speaker 1: stop right now because this is bullshit. And she's you know,
- 40:07Speaker 1: she's I have her face grab looking at me, and
- 40:11Speaker 1: she's trying to like calm down because she's like hyperventilation.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so she's not really making noise anymore. She's just
- 40:16Speaker 1: kind of like breathing, and I like take her. She's
- 40:18Speaker 1: got her goggles on, her little rainbow goggles, and I
- 40:21Speaker 1: like rip her rainbow goggles off, and you like you
- 40:25Speaker 1: just like grab them and pick them up and you're
- 40:26Speaker 1: like whipping them around on your body. You're like, I'm
- 40:28Speaker 1: gonna take you to mom, but you are going to
- 40:30Speaker 1: calm down as I walk over here.
- 40:32Speaker 2: You're not hurting her, but you're also showing her, Hey,
- 40:34Speaker 2: dad has got some strength. Yeah you want to play
- 40:37Speaker 2: with Yeah.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Yeah. It got to a point that where like, all right,
- 40:40Speaker 1: we're stop this whole. I'm gonna be calm and we're
- 40:42Speaker 1: gonna play. I'm gonna be nice and be this parent
- 40:44Speaker 1: that you're just gonna stay poised and you're gonna just
- 40:47Speaker 1: sit there with them and be there with them. No,
- 40:49Speaker 1: that that turned off. My heart turned black.
- 40:51Speaker 2: That's I so far, this kind of sounds like a win.
- 40:56Speaker 1: I know the part where you feel like it's a
- 40:58Speaker 1: dad loss is you feel better about it when you're
- 41:00Speaker 1: driving homework. I'm like thinking about it all day because
- 41:03Speaker 1: I got down there, I got on her level and
- 41:05Speaker 1: I grabbed her face and I like, I like put
- 41:07Speaker 1: it over the mind. I'm like, look at me, you
- 41:08Speaker 1: were going to stop this ship right now. It picked
- 41:11Speaker 1: her up, like you know, like grabbed her goggles, ripped
- 41:14Speaker 1: it off her head, and I'm like marching over over
- 41:17Speaker 1: to my wife and I can just hear her hyperventilation,
- 41:19Speaker 1: her like little breast. And that's what makes me feel
- 41:21Speaker 1: bad is I'm like, I'm sure I shocked her in
- 41:23Speaker 1: the moment, which it's like she needed that. In my
- 41:26Speaker 1: hi brain, I'm like, hey, she did, That's what the
- 41:28Speaker 1: moment calls for. That's what you had to do. I
- 41:30Speaker 1: had to stop the bleeding. I walk over there and
- 41:33Speaker 1: I just like kind of toss her kind of like
- 41:36Speaker 1: toss her down on the chair.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Here's your daughter.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, she wants you, she wants you. I
- 41:42Speaker 1: can't do this right now. I like go and take
- 41:44Speaker 1: a walk. And we have to leave because she like
- 41:47Speaker 1: she works herself back up again, and we're just like hey,
- 41:49Speaker 1: oh really, We're like, hey, we're leaving. We're not doing this.
- 41:52Speaker 1: We're not doing She's got to know that she cannot
- 41:53Speaker 1: act this way, she cannot behave this way. We are leaving. Yeah,
- 41:57Speaker 1: And so we end up going home and everything else.
- 41:59Speaker 1: And I was so upset. We were both Charles and
- 42:02Speaker 1: I both we were both upset. We both did a
- 42:05Speaker 1: little bit of yelling you're just disappointing.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Y'all, or her at her, like we're.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Getting in and she still like worked up. Charles snaps
- 42:12Speaker 1: at her.
- 42:12Speaker 2: So Charles on your side in this moment, yeah, because
- 42:15Speaker 2: she's she's well, oh yeah, but of how you hand
- 42:19Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 42:19Speaker 1: She didn't like, she didn't mind it. She didn't mind high.
- 42:21Speaker 3: I know.
- 42:21Speaker 1: We talked later and we were kind of like laughing
- 42:23Speaker 1: about it, and I was like, Okay, I gotta tell you,
- 42:25Speaker 1: like I went down, I got on her level and
- 42:27Speaker 1: I grabbed her by the face and like jerked it
- 42:29Speaker 1: over to mine. Oh yeah, And it's like you wanna
- 42:32Speaker 1: I wanted to. I wanted to tattoo or ask.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Bro oh yeah, And I dude, I've I think you
- 42:41Speaker 2: did a great job in that moment of expressing. It's
- 42:46Speaker 2: like those tiktoks of like the parents that tried to
- 42:49Speaker 2: exhibit that, Like, I know you're feeling bad right now,
- 42:52Speaker 2: but how can I help you in this situation as
- 42:54Speaker 2: you're having a tantrum.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Yeah I can't do that. Yeah, No, you're right called
- 42:58Speaker 1: for it. Yeah, it called for it. It's just like
- 43:01Speaker 1: it's like you're thinking about it the rest of the
- 43:03Speaker 1: day because when I'm reacting, I'm not doing it is
- 43:08Speaker 1: like predetermined this is the right move to do. I'm like,
- 43:12Speaker 1: I'm like losing my I'm like losing all my emotion
- 43:15Speaker 1: to where I'm like physically like grabbing her and jerking
- 43:18Speaker 1: around and turning her face, ripping her goggles off, and
- 43:21Speaker 1: I'm like thinking on, I'm just like thinking back to mind.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I'm like, man, I lost full composure because I was
- 43:26Speaker 1: fucking pissed off. I know that's gonna happen. But that's
- 43:28Speaker 1: like my dad, because it's funny because you're little your
- 43:33Speaker 1: little boy, your little girl, whatever it is. They're like
- 43:35Speaker 1: the only being in the world where you can be
- 43:39Speaker 1: so fucking mad. I'm talking so fucking mad to where
- 43:44Speaker 1: you stay mad at him like I wasn't cool with
- 43:47Speaker 1: Rue for a good couple hours, yeah, or a good
- 43:49Speaker 1: hour to where it's like, hey, no, if you want
- 43:51Speaker 1: to apologize to us, you're not gonna do it sitting
- 43:53Speaker 1: on the couch over there and just say I'm sorry,
- 43:55Speaker 1: I'm sorry for acting that way. No, you're gonna walk
- 43:57Speaker 1: over to me and you're gonna look at me. You
- 43:59Speaker 1: told her that, Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're gonna say sorry
- 44:01Speaker 1: to me, and you're also gonna walk over and you're
- 44:03Speaker 1: gonna look at your mom and you're gonna say sorry
- 44:04Speaker 1: to mom. And how you're gonna give us both of
- 44:06Speaker 1: She did good, she did it, and it's like it's
- 44:09Speaker 1: and then later on I had to get a sweat
- 44:12Speaker 1: in charl and knew I kind of needed a moment.
- 44:13Speaker 1: She's like, Hey, I'm gonna go take a ridge at
- 44:15Speaker 1: the grocery store. Yeah, you do whatever you gotta do.
- 44:17Speaker 1: So I kind of had an hour to like decompress
- 44:20Speaker 1: and everything else. And what I was gonna say is,
- 44:23Speaker 1: like this little human they're the only one. They're the
- 44:27Speaker 1: only beings in the world that you can be so
- 44:30Speaker 1: fucking mad at. But the minute she gets home and
- 44:33Speaker 1: I'm upstairs and I hear from downstairs like that that
- 44:36Speaker 1: were are you dad? Dad? Dad? Dad? Look come come
- 44:38Speaker 1: yuke at this, come yuke at this, And you like
- 44:41Speaker 1: have a smile on your face because you're like excited
- 44:43Speaker 1: to see them again, and you're just like, well, their
- 44:46Speaker 1: brains just move on because they're dealing with so you know,
- 44:49Speaker 1: they're dealing with all their big emotions, and I'm kind
- 44:51Speaker 1: of you know, you're kind of you kind of go
- 44:52Speaker 1: from all the way at one hundred to where it's
- 44:54Speaker 1: just completely gone when they come home and like, dad,
- 44:57Speaker 1: that come yuke, come yuk, that the were are you? You're sweetheart?
- 45:01Speaker 1: It's good to see you.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Don't stand a chance. A good way, yeah, a good way.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I chalked it up as his dad lost. Now talking
- 45:08Speaker 1: through and talking to you, now, you've made me feel
- 45:09Speaker 1: better about what my decisions and actions were good. But
- 45:12Speaker 1: I just felt like it got to that moment to
- 45:14Speaker 1: where all this this what do you need from me
- 45:17Speaker 1: bullshit was out the fucking door. Yeah, hard had to
- 45:20Speaker 1: turn black. Papacile had to go in full effect in
- 45:24Speaker 1: the trenches.
- 45:25Speaker 2: One hundred percent, dude. And like for my dad, I
- 45:29Speaker 2: feel like I had a very healthy dose of discipline
- 45:33Speaker 2: with my brother. And I have a older brother of
- 45:35Speaker 2: a four year shout out to Jordan, very healthy discipline.
- 45:40Speaker 2: It was never too much or anything like that healthy
- 45:42Speaker 2: relationship with dad growing up. But all Mom had to
- 45:46Speaker 2: say sometimes was you wait till your dad gets home
- 45:49Speaker 2: from work. Yeah, and bro, that's.
- 45:50Speaker 1: All I had. That was that was my kind of
- 45:52Speaker 1: I mean, he would dan my ass.
- 45:54Speaker 4: Bro.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he got to the point where that's all
- 45:56Speaker 2: she had to do. I'm up in my room bawling,
- 45:59Speaker 2: and then I hear the garage door open.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Yeah, what the hell was I think? And so like
- 46:05Speaker 2: I think, not that you like showed force, but like
- 46:09Speaker 2: you you showed her that. Hey, if you get to
- 46:11Speaker 2: a level like dad as it might be your favorite person,
- 46:14Speaker 2: but he is not cool with that kind of behavior.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Yeah. I strongly believe it's like, uh, yeah, they have
- 46:22Speaker 1: to they have to understand there's gonna be consequences. Yeah.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I think everybody agrees with that. And she never got
- 46:27Speaker 1: We're not gonna sit here at the pool. We're not
- 46:29Speaker 1: gonna stay until this is all kumbay and then you're
- 46:30Speaker 1: gonna go back in the pool. We're gonna have fun.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Because then, to me, in my brain, I'm thinking we're
- 46:34Speaker 1: just enabling a hundred behavior was until you got what
- 46:37Speaker 1: you wanted? Yeah, because once you started to working back
- 46:39Speaker 1: in Like Charna, we were both wanting a pool day,
- 46:41Speaker 1: Like I'm wanting to sit out there and catch some rays.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I'm honestly pissed that we're having to leave, but I'm like,
- 46:46Speaker 1: we have to leave because she has to know that
- 46:48Speaker 1: this ship is not all right. Yeah, because Scotty was
- 46:51Speaker 1: being great and again, the vibes were good, and man,
- 46:53Speaker 1: we wanted a good pool day.
- 46:55Speaker 2: That's the dad loss in it all.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just like the dad loss. Losing out on
- 46:59Speaker 1: a good pool day. Yeah, that's the dad loss.
- 47:01Speaker 2: That's the dad loss.
- 47:02Speaker 1: That's the dad loss.
- 47:03Speaker 2: You need a good pool day. Yeah, and I love that,
- 47:07Speaker 2: Like she didn't get what she wanted in the moment,
- 47:10Speaker 2: Slash didn't get the residuals of that moment because she's
- 47:14Speaker 2: getting to the age where she realizes Mama's and Dada
- 47:18Speaker 2: has wanted to be at the pool too. And I'm
- 47:19Speaker 2: guessing family friends were there, right, was this?
- 47:22Speaker 1: No, it was just us. This was back in the
- 47:24Speaker 1: Nashville and sorry went on Sunday morning.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Okay, cool, but I mean still a fun time. She
- 47:29Speaker 2: knows mama's and dad does want to have a fun
- 47:31Speaker 2: time at the pool too.
- 47:33Speaker 1: No talking this out. You're right, You're right. The loss
- 47:35Speaker 1: was not having a full pool day for the fans.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Okay, good?
- 47:37Speaker 1: Was the parents not having a pool day?
- 47:39Speaker 2: Good? Because you're right, Yeah, as you were going through that, guys,
- 47:45Speaker 2: like I was waiting for like the spanking or whatever.
- 47:48Speaker 2: And when it never like you feel.
- 47:50Speaker 1: It's more like you know you you beat yourself up
- 47:53Speaker 1: when you fucking like I like lost myself, you know
- 47:55Speaker 1: what I mean? Yes, even though it's like talking through it,
- 47:58Speaker 1: like hey, that's what the moment I need it or
- 48:00Speaker 1: that's how I'm just fighting my head. Yeah, could be right,
- 48:02Speaker 1: could be wrong. Whatever. It's like, I'm thinking back, like
- 48:05Speaker 1: I lost full composure of myself because I got so fucking.
- 48:09Speaker 2: And I know, I know that I'm speaking way out
- 48:12Speaker 2: of turn. We just said I'm a buck private for
- 48:14Speaker 2: Papa Team six. But I know for a fact that
- 48:16Speaker 2: Papa Team six doesn't sitting that helicopter with a little
- 48:19Speaker 2: airhorn calling down going hey you better stop that, don't
- 48:23Speaker 2: do that. That helicopter's laying ropes are coming down. We're
- 48:27Speaker 2: we're descending, and we're getting in the ship. We're getting
- 48:31Speaker 2: in the firefight. If you're Papa Team six.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a moment where you want to do it.
- 48:35Speaker 1: I want to do waterboard.
- 48:37Speaker 2: That's okay, that's okay. Hey you might think thinking about it.
- 48:47Speaker 1: What was we gotta keep this?
- 48:52Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, my motherfucked is actually really quick this week,
- 48:56Speaker 2: which which will help left Scarlet this morning unattended for
- 49:04Speaker 2: five seconds on the change on the changing table and
- 49:08Speaker 2: what you have to do? What was the was I
- 49:10Speaker 2: was changing her and uh I didn't have the right diapers.
- 49:14Speaker 2: We have the newborn diapers, and like we talked about earlier,
- 49:17Speaker 2: Scarlet is quite literally the size of a peanut. So
- 49:20Speaker 2: we're having to use premium diapers right now, or else
- 49:23Speaker 2: you're having to use the actual newborn diapers and you're
- 49:27Speaker 2: rolling those suckers over like three times. Yeah, just to
- 49:30Speaker 2: get it to where like it's fitting on her. So
- 49:34Speaker 2: I go, oh, the premis are on the kitchen counter,
- 49:37Speaker 2: and her nursery is right there. I mean I could
- 49:40Speaker 2: get there in uh eight steps, Max, So I'm like, oh,
- 49:44Speaker 2: go grab it, just not even thinking like she's on
- 49:47Speaker 2: the changing table. It's the you know, shaped like U shaped.
- 49:51Speaker 2: It would take a lot for her to roll off.
- 49:53Speaker 2: In my dad brain, I'm like, hey, she's a good Yeah,
- 49:56Speaker 2: I got I gotta get to work. I gotta get
- 49:58Speaker 2: your change. And so I left the room and Jill goes,
- 50:01Speaker 2: what do you need? I go, I need the premium.
- 50:04Speaker 2: And then she sees that I have no baby in hand.
- 50:06Speaker 2: She goes where is she? And I go, she's She's
- 50:10Speaker 2: on the changing table, full sprint, full sprint, and like
- 50:15Speaker 2: we have hardwood floors. I mean it sounded like, uh
- 50:18Speaker 2: the Mama bear was charging and she held back on me.
- 50:22Speaker 2: I thank her for holding back on me. I did
- 50:25Speaker 2: when Cheff.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Tell me you didn't say, sweetheart, they can't roll it.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Oh no, oh, you gotta zip it up.
- 50:33Speaker 2: I knew I fucked up real quick, because.
- 50:35Speaker 1: That's a pure That's just a motherfucked moment with the wife,
- 50:38Speaker 1: wouldn't It's like, you know, you went and you grab
- 50:40Speaker 1: the debt, you grab the Premi diapers. Yeah, they're really
- 50:43Speaker 1: not going to go anywhere. It's a few seconds, but
- 50:46Speaker 1: we're not gonna say that. But effect, if you're listening
- 50:48Speaker 1: right now, Jilly Bean, you do not here a say no,
- 50:51Speaker 1: baby's not going nowhere in five seconds.
- 50:53Speaker 5: No.
- 50:53Speaker 2: And also, if Jill and Charlo had their own podcast,
- 50:56Speaker 2: that's like Jill's dad loss. Essentially, it's like, what the
- 50:59Speaker 2: fuck was Sherman thinking? Like why did you think that
- 51:02Speaker 2: was okay? Which I understand that now. I understand that now.
- 51:06Speaker 2: And Chef heard me on a phone call with Jill
- 51:10Speaker 2: before we started recording. You heard a lot of yes
- 51:13Speaker 2: ma'ams in that phone conversation. I'm sure a lot of
- 51:16Speaker 2: yes ma'ams.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta be dials right now.
- 51:18Speaker 2: I'm a little bit I'm not in the doghouse, but
- 51:21Speaker 2: let's just keep this thing under it.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Now. These are moments you're just gonna have to take
- 51:24Speaker 1: in and accept and absorb. Yeah, whether right, wrong, indifferent.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Oh yeah, did not fight her, honey. I am so sorry, honey,
- 51:36Speaker 2: I really am so sorry. What I also didn't know?
- 51:40Speaker 2: This is kind of a dad loss too. I do
- 51:42Speaker 2: have a dad loss. I have been waking up at
- 51:46Speaker 2: the feeding time. So I had a two thirty feeding time,
- 51:49Speaker 2: a five thirty feeding time last night. Yeah, I woke
- 51:53Speaker 2: up at the feeding times unbeknownst to Jill. So I
- 51:56Speaker 2: really wasn't feeding her until like three, three thirty six,
- 52:01Speaker 2: six thirties.
- 52:02Speaker 1: You gotta get the ball, you gotta get it ready.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Yes, and get her change and stuff like piss her
- 52:07Speaker 2: off before you feed her. So then she's like awake
- 52:10Speaker 2: and you know, ready to feed. And so Jill realized
- 52:13Speaker 2: that this morning because I had a seven o'clock feeding
- 52:16Speaker 2: time and she walks in there and it's you know,
- 52:19Speaker 2: like seven forty five eight, and she's like, are you
- 52:22Speaker 2: just out feeding her? I was like, yeah, like so proud,
- 52:26Speaker 2: so proud, so proud in that moment, Yes, honey, I'm
- 52:31Speaker 2: feeding her. And she Honnie, she's taking it down. She
- 52:35Speaker 2: already got one ounce down, She's only got another ounce
- 52:38Speaker 2: to go, and she I could tell, and just so
- 52:42Speaker 2: much rage in her mind. She did a great job
- 52:45Speaker 2: of just in that moment, stopping and communicating. You need
- 52:48Speaker 2: to be waking up at least forty five minutes before though,
- 52:53Speaker 2: what are you five? Oh yeah, thirty to forty five
- 52:55Speaker 2: minutes before the feeding time because she needs to be
- 52:59Speaker 2: changed and in mouth by feeding time, because, like y'all know,
- 53:03Speaker 2: it takes me a while to get out of bed.
- 53:04Speaker 2: So forty five minutes she's gone loses, she's going off
- 53:07Speaker 2: Sherman's hime. Yeah, she was like, that bottle needs to
- 53:10Speaker 2: be in mouth at feeding time.
- 53:12Speaker 1: This is where you harness for the dads out there listening,
- 53:17Speaker 1: you harness these motherfucked moments. Yeah, and these are nice
- 53:21Speaker 1: little conversations in chemistry builders with your little one. Yeah, hey,
- 53:25Speaker 1: Mama didn't like that I left you for five seconds.
- 53:27Speaker 1: We're gonna keep the secret between us that you're gonna
- 53:29Speaker 1: be okay. I know you know that, I know I
- 53:32Speaker 1: know that you're not rolling. Yeah, she's doing a great job.
- 53:35Speaker 1: She just went through a lot. There's a lot going
- 53:38Speaker 1: on that she can't control. We're just gonna keep this
- 53:40Speaker 1: between us. I knew you were good. You knew I
- 53:42Speaker 1: was good. You knew I was gonna be back quick
- 53:44Speaker 1: and five ten seconds.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Hey, those those twenty different babies that came into her
- 53:48Speaker 2: hospital when she was a nurse. Yeah, bad skull fractures
- 53:51Speaker 2: because this exact thing happened.
- 53:53Speaker 1: I know you're not gonna be I know you're not
- 53:55Speaker 1: gonna get a skull frac Come on.
- 53:58Speaker 2: And she just tell me that calmly, yeah, very sweetly, honey.
- 54:02Speaker 2: I have seen over ten cases of this myself. You
- 54:06Speaker 2: cannot do that, Okay, Yes, ma'am, I'm so sorry.
- 54:09Speaker 1: I didn't handle it great. Yeah, you handled it great.
- 54:12Speaker 2: And what stunked you?
- 54:13Speaker 5: It?
- 54:13Speaker 2: Can't it?
- 54:14Speaker 4: Can?
- 54:14Speaker 2: I segue that into my Crack of Cold one.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Before we get to the Crack of Cold one segment,
- 54:21Speaker 1: we are sponsored by This segment is sponsored by bud Light.

- 54:53Speaker 1: com slash locator to find a store near you. Let's
- 54:57Speaker 1: get back to the episode and what we will crack
- 54:59Speaker 1: a old one too, Yeah, crack a cold one.
- 55:02Speaker 2: Okay, to segue into my crack a cold one. Jill
- 55:06Speaker 2: has got me fully dialed on uh feeding, Like, I
- 55:12Speaker 2: feel good, dude, And I know it's a day to
- 55:15Speaker 2: day thing. People are probably listening. They're going Sherman thinks
- 55:17Speaker 2: he's got it all figured out, but like, I gotta
- 55:20Speaker 2: find the wins where I can find him. And I
- 55:22Speaker 2: was so freaking nervous and scared about dipey changes feeding
- 55:26Speaker 2: and stuff, and Jill has me like a well oiled machine.
- 55:30Speaker 2: I'm just going off her playbook.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and I.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Love the old The feeding techniques are named after football terminology.
- 55:37Speaker 2: You have football through points of contact, you have sideline. Yeah,
- 55:41Speaker 2: I'm like I can roll with this.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:44Speaker 2: I was like, I'm gonna go with football. I'll do football.
- 55:47Speaker 2: And they're like, all you gotta do is piss her off,
- 55:49Speaker 2: change her her her tires, her diapers, get her pissed,
- 55:54Speaker 2: turn all the lights on, wake their ass up, take
- 55:58Speaker 2: the onesie off, let them sit there a little bit
- 56:00Speaker 2: on the change of tail, let them get cold. Yeah,
- 56:02Speaker 2: they start doing the.
- 56:04Speaker 1: Yeah, they're trying to spas.
- 56:06Speaker 2: And then as soon as I see that mouth got
- 56:11Speaker 2: I get her in football and bottle in mouth, dude,
- 56:13Speaker 2: and she's got a really good suck. Even the nurses
- 56:17Speaker 2: were like, weird terminology. But the nurses are.
- 56:20Speaker 1: Like, yo, you gotta you gotta you gott an eater.
- 56:23Speaker 2: I got an eater, Dude. She is a peanut. But boy,
- 56:26Speaker 2: she likes foodies.
- 56:27Speaker 1: That's good. It's good. Like you're saying, it'll change, and
- 56:31Speaker 1: you gotta find the wins where you can find them.
- 56:32Speaker 1: But it's better to be absolutely dialed every step of
- 56:35Speaker 1: the way. So that way when you get a little
- 56:37Speaker 1: off track, or something happens, or something changes, or she
- 56:40Speaker 1: starts to get a little pissed off, or adversity's gonna strike. Yeah, yeah,
- 56:44Speaker 1: you're gonna be so dialed in on step one that hey,
- 56:47Speaker 1: you'll be ready to learn step two. Yes, you'll be
- 56:49Speaker 1: ready to roll with the punches.
- 56:50Speaker 2: We'll be ready to roll with the punches. So that
- 56:53Speaker 2: five point thirty feeting, that's my crack of cole when
- 56:55Speaker 2: we got blood lights here. Uh shout out bud Light
- 56:58Speaker 2: for sponsoring the podcast. Sponsoring the podcast.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Yeah, my krak of coal, one's gonna go to speaking
- 57:05Speaker 1: of cracking a cold one and drinking a lot of
- 57:07Speaker 1: bud Lights and some neutrals. The Fourth of July party.
- 57:12Speaker 1: I think there is a moment where we're all sitting
- 57:15Speaker 1: around and I made the comment like this, Uh, the
- 57:19Speaker 1: party now looks a lot different than it did a
- 57:21Speaker 1: few years ago, because a few years ago, it's like
- 57:24Speaker 1: you're not married. Maybe somebody has a young kid or
- 57:28Speaker 1: like a newborn or something, but other that, some of
- 57:30Speaker 1: the friends that we have, it's like their kids are
- 57:32Speaker 1: like in high school and we're all these not married men,
- 57:35Speaker 1: still boys, like introducing our wives or girlfriends or whatever
- 57:38Speaker 1: it is. And now years later we're sitting there and
- 57:41Speaker 1: I'm looking around and you got one of the boys
- 57:43Speaker 1: that were in high school, he's graduated high school. I
- 57:46Speaker 1: got two kids of my own. My best friend Nick
- 57:48Speaker 1: and Chuck, they got two kids of their own. Like
- 57:50Speaker 1: we have all these little kids. We have all these babies.
- 57:53Speaker 1: Adam Fodle Shout out the boy Adam, who is our
- 57:55Speaker 1: you know, host at the Saint Louis Cardinals.
- 57:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he's up.
- 57:58Speaker 1: He's he's with the Cardinals. But he's got four kids
- 58:03Speaker 1: in his like eight or nine year old McKinley. She's
- 58:06Speaker 1: helping out. You got people like Scotty's sleeping on Caitlin,
- 58:09Speaker 1: my brother's girlfriend. It's more of like this tribal mentality.
- 58:12Speaker 1: We're having this party, and I'm sitting around looking at
- 58:15Speaker 1: and mentioning the Kenny and to everybody, like how different
- 58:17Speaker 1: this party looks now that we all have families and
- 58:19Speaker 1: we all have kids. Because there's a water slide up now,
- 58:22Speaker 1: Like the annual cornhole party still happen at Kenny's house.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Shout out the boy Kenny Farcas. But we go to
- 58:28Speaker 1: his spot. He's got a spot, dude, Yeah, he's got
- 58:31Speaker 1: a great sup. He's got a garage. Or you can
- 58:32Speaker 1: have the cornhole tournament out there in the gravel. We
- 58:34Speaker 1: got the backyards up to where there's tents because we've
- 58:36Speaker 1: learned how hot it gets every year. You need more tents.
- 58:39Speaker 1: There's ten yeah, tailgate tents. There's big fans because you
- 58:43Speaker 1: know there's gonna be kiddos and little children because you're wanting,
- 58:46Speaker 1: you know, the parents to stick around as long as
- 58:48Speaker 1: we can until it's bedtime. And uh, it's just one
- 58:51Speaker 1: of those moments to where you just crack a cold
- 58:53Speaker 1: one to the moment because you're looking around and you
- 58:56Speaker 1: see all your friends to where there's new families, there's
- 59:00Speaker 1: of ours that has their kids and they're graduating. There
- 59:02Speaker 1: later in high school, you got some kids that are
- 59:05Speaker 1: helping out with the other kids. Everybody's kind of letting
- 59:07Speaker 1: and helping hand knowing that everybody's got kids now and
- 59:10Speaker 1: you're kind of just sitting there with your boys that
- 59:11Speaker 1: you grew up with that you're having all these whether
- 59:14Speaker 1: it's barbecues or whatever, to celebrate us graduating high school,
- 59:18Speaker 1: us going off to college, us graduating college, and now
- 59:22Speaker 1: we're at the point to where we're all sitting there
- 59:23Speaker 1: with our families. And even though it only happens once
- 59:26Speaker 1: a year, it's like you're cherishing those moments because you
- 59:30Speaker 1: don't know how many times you get to see all
- 59:32Speaker 1: your friends and all your close ones, like in the
- 59:34Speaker 1: same spot with each other, with the kiddos around the
- 59:37Speaker 1: same age, and they're making friends and you hope it
- 59:40Speaker 1: continues to be something where we get with each other
- 59:42Speaker 1: more than just once a year. Yeah, so you just know, like, hey,
- 59:45Speaker 1: we're going back to Missouri or we're gonna have them
- 59:47Speaker 1: forour the July party, and she knows she's gonna go
- 59:49Speaker 1: back and see Hudson, Grady, Chip, all of them do
- 59:55Speaker 1: to you.
- 59:56Speaker 2: I think this will make that even better for you.
- 59:59Speaker 2: Not to make about myself, but I grew up with
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: a very similar situation. Shout out Possum Kingdom Lake for
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: all the eight one seven ers and two one fours
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: in the DFW area. We'd go to the same lake house.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: I would see my two favorite or like same favorite friends,
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: Natalie and Emily. We'd stay at their lake house. And Dude,
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: I'm telling you, Fourth of July is my favorite holiday
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: because of that. But I mean we did it for
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: like almost ten years straight, and so Rue, yeah, Ru
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: and Scotty are going to appreciate that.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Like a tradition to just look forward to even Yes,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: do you get the ones a year to get around?
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Yes to everybody that's.

- 1:00:45Speaker 1: six together we are.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Do you mind not to put Jill on the spot,
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: but do you mind if I call her and see
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: if I can't get ten x ten extra minute?
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Go ahead? Oka ahead, okay, Papa Team. This is an
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: example when you are up against the clock and we've
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: all been there, We've all been there with our boys,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: and you know the time is gonna get probably get
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: pushed a little bit, and you're trying to do some
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: damage control. So postpartum mother, few days postpartum. Sureman is
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: making the call right now. He's dropping in with some
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: night vision.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: Hey hey, honey, how did the chairs go?
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: I don't know I have come yet. Oh okay, So
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: I'm calling on the podcast because I'm looking at the
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: clock right now. It's two twenty.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: You got it.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: I just I just wanted to confirm what time did
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: you want me hume by two thirty? Is there any
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: way that that could be closer to two forty five
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: two fifty if we're almost done?
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: Yes, I let's do five.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: It's to forty five okay, Yes, we're just gonna I I.
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: Just want to have extra time because it's raining and
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: it's our first appointment, so I just.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Don't really know where to go, and we're gonna have
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: to sign paper. So absolutely right, she's right, She's right,
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: Absolute Max. Two forty five. I love you, Thank you.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: Will wants to say hi really quick.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: You're a saint, Jilly Bean, You're a saint. You are
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: a saint, and we love you so much and we
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: are so happy you're doing well.
- 1:02:24Speaker 6: Thank you guy.
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: You will so whatever.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: You need to. Oh, Jillie, you are the best. Thank you, sweetheart.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: We love you.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: You are my priority and I love you so much
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: and I cannot wait to see you. Okay, all right,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: two forty five, Love you.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Papa Seal. Mission accomplished, Mission accomplished. Oh all right, we
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: gotta lock in. We gotta gotta lock in, gotta lock in.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Survival kit, survival kit, My survival Kit edition will be
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: go to music in a long car ride, so prefaces.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: We drove back to Missouri on Thursday morning. On Wednesday,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: our ac upstairs went out. Both kiddles were getting over sicknesses.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Good you gotta be dialed in. Good were we were
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: in the trenches. I had to get an HVAC guy over.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Shout out the boy, Robbie. They fixed the problem we needed,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: like some compressor or some new part that broke or
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: whatever it was. But the upstairs was sitting in ninety
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: degrees and it was blowing out hot air. Bro. Thankfully,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: the first floor was good. So the kids are napping
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: on the first floor. But all to say, like your
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: kind of backs up against the wall. We're about to
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: travel again. Long car ride to Missouri about a five
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: hour drive. Recently we went to Florida and that's like
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: an eight hour eight nine hour drive. Yeah, both both
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: of them they're in back. Was absolute hell. And all
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I'm thinking of, hell, hell, bro. And so you're going
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: into this five hour car ride and you're just hoping
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: for the best. Yeah, I shit you not. It was
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: one of those situations to where I would conservatively, conservatively
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: say at least three and a half hours of that
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: five hour drive. One of them were screaming. One of
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: them was screaming. Oh, it was mostly Scotty, and it
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: was bumming me out because she's our little seven month
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: going on eight months old. Yeah, she's the best, dude.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: And it's like she's starting to get a little more wiggly,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: she's starting to not want to be confined to the
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: car seat. And she was just blaring bro and Charles's
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: back there. God bless her. She's showing a rocker and
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: singing to her and do all the things because you're
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: not wanting to take him out of the car seat,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: like that's a bad thing. Yeah. Yeah, And she's like
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: shaking a couple of hard extra times and I'm up there.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: She's like, Scotty, come on, come on, like I'm right here.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I'm right here because she's a big mama's girl right now. Yeah.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: And I'm singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, just on repeat
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: up while I'm driving, and I'm doing the trying to
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: create white noise. We're playing white noise. We probably get
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: them both down for an hour, but it was it
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: was hell man, because it gets so loud. Rue is
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: doing a great job trying to be patient. She starts
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: off really rocky. We're like, dude, we can't do this. Yes,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: it's a long drive. She's like, I don't want long drives.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Why is this so hard? And she heard phrases right
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: now is why is this so hard and I can't
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: do it. And it's like you're sitting there like it's
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: only as hard as you make it. Rue, you start
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: to get worked up and you're trying to like talk
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: them down, Like, dude, we're locked in the car. You think, Dad,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: I wants to be locked in the car. You think
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: I want to drive five hours locked in four doors
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: with you guys screaming. No, Dada doesn't want that. But
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: is Dada crying? Is that isn't? How hard is this? No?
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: You got to.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Embrace the hard room. You have to embrace the suck.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: We're in the.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: Sock let your heart turned black?
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Yeah? What can we what can we look at out
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: the window? Can we start trying to guess letters? What's
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: on this side, what's on that? What's on that side?
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: You want us to do a song? I can't do it.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I can't with this kid. I can't with this kid
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: right now. She ends up getting calm, and then Scottie
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: is pissed about being in.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: The car seat and you can't. Then it gets the word.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Ru's like you're yelling hurts my ears, It hurts me.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: I'm like, Rue, sweetheart, that's not helping her. She's a baby.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: She doesn't know you did this when you were little.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Mama and Dadda had to sit through. You gotta just no,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: I get your calmer down, and no, stop it hurts
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: my ears. Well if you're yelling, it's gonna hurt her
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: ears too. It's hurting my ears. You're just going back.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: God help help God, help us all dude. And finally,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: oh my god, the white noise helped and knock them
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: both out for an hour because we're telling her, sweetheart,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: just fall asleep. You said you're tired, Like, just just
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: close your eyes. Ye can't. Why is this so hard? Dude?
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Stop with that ship man. But she ends up falling asleep.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: We get up. They're both out for an hour, but
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: the last probably forty five minutes home, Scotty's upset, but rue.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: This is where the Survival Kid go to music in
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: a lone car ride. She ends up talking like I
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: want the word song, I want like the faun. It
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: was the phonic song, the phonic song by Gracie's Corner. Ooh,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: and she just like goes to the alphabet at at
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: a dance for Apple at Apple. I don't know it's
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: this phonic song that we just played on repeat because
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: you get to where you might have a rollodex of songs,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: but the only way we want to listen to one
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: song over and over and over. And it was phonic
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: song by Gracie's Corner, nice little catchy, kind of hip
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: hopish song to where you can kind of dance a
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: little bit where doesn't want you to sing the words
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: help dad, that you don't have to say the words
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: I got you sweetheart. It's just catchy. I want to
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: sing it. No, I don't want you to sing it
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: because she's trying to memorize the song.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: I've been oh, hey, shout out that video that you
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: sent me of her memorizing the book.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: That was crazy bro about that. So grou can memorize
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: her books. And kids have a very good memory when
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: they're around that age, and it's weird like situations that
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: they can recall, whether it's a year ago or an
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: old memory, whatever it is, and you're kind of just
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: surprised by them being able to remember that. Remember that
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: she does better with names, like remembering people's names better
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: than I do. Yeah, And she can memorize these books, dude,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: And some times, you know, it's like go dog, go
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: old hat, new hat, you know, smaller books like that.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: But bro, she has this book Ziggy and the Three Pigs.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: You know, the three tailor three pigs with the big
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: bad Wolf. Well in this in this day and age,
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: and there's now a fourth pig. His name is Ziggy,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: who doesn't live in a house at all. He lives
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: under the stars, and he wants to go swimming. And
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: he goes by his three little Fred, Ned and Ted,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: who have the house made of straw sticks and bricks.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Yeahs them, you want to go for a swim today?
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Haven't you heard? The big Bad Wolf is coming to town.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: I would be sheltering up if I were you. Ziggy. No,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I don't want to stay. I don't want to go inside.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna go enjoy the water suit yourself. Buddy,
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: big bead Wolf comes and blows every house away, even
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: the brick brick even the brick house because old Ned,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: Ted or Fred whoever, whoever lives in the brick house.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: He's got a new grate that sits on top of
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: the fireplace. So hey, big bad Wolf, don't even think
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: about coming down the fireplace because I fix that too,
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: And I'm gonna uffing on PuF and I'm gonna puff
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: and I'm gonna huf. I'm gonna blow your house down.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: House made of bricks. They're all gone. All the pigs
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: are squealing. Where do we go? They run to the
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: ocean where Ziggy was having a swim that day he
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: was building sane castles. Now he built a little raft
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: out on the water. Ziggy, hey, just swim out to
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: the shore. Uh, let me do the talking. If he
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: blew down our houses, what do you think he's gonna
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: do to you' he us for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: He's gonna have you for a midnight snack. Just swim
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: out here and let me do the talking. Big bed
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: wolf comes out. He's out of breath. If you don't
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: come off that raft, I'm gonna uffing pluff, I'm gonna
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: huff and puff and blow you to pieces and do it.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Ziggy starts talking shit to the big bed wolf. Hey,
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: last night checked, I heard you. You don't have a
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: strong enough breath to blow out a birthday candle gets
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: the wolf all worked up, and right when the wolf's
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: just about to blow that raft to smithereens, Ziggy lifts
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: the sail, the wolf blows him out to sea. They
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: have a pool day and they're happy that Ziggy went
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: swimming that day. But this book has I'm talking like
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: eight to ten line, multiple lines, multiple lines, and Rue
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: knows the entire book word for word.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: You need to send that video to Chef and let
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: it play out like for listeners of like viewers.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: We'll play it right now to.
- 1:10:13Speaker 7: The Veggy stop down Ned's house. Ned was printed grey
- 1:10:19Speaker 7: on this. To me, what's stop for the Reggy? Jesseo
- 1:10:24Speaker 7: after by wolf protective? They will no one comes down
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: tell me to me, you know, but display is guarantee.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Woof.
- 1:10:35Speaker 7: I imagine in there and.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Dangle that video when I send it to you.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: Absolutely unreal because as I'm watching it, I'm like, Yo,
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: wait is she reading? I was like, how is she reading?
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: At that? Eight? Wait?
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: How old do you learn to read?
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Ballad?
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: I can't read.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: They don't know how to.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Read, because I remember you being like, she can't select
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: music on Spotify, she doesn't know how to read, Chef, Well,
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: you just watched it going word for word. I'm going
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: down the line with her, and it's word for word, dude.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: She's got a nogging.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: And she'll read the page and like look up when
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: she turns and looks up at me with his biggest smile,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: and it just it just lights up the room. I'm like, oh, rude,
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: that is awesome. That is so proud of you. That's uh.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: That takes a lot of focus and effor and hard work.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: And you're trying to like, you know, encourage them, and yeah,
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: you pat them on the back for like the attributes
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: and characteristics that go into it other than be like,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: you're so smart. But it is, uh, it's fascinating seeing
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: these little kids and what they're what their memories are like.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: Bro, it's crazy, dude.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: It's hard being biased, not thinking, you know, it's this
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: kid gonna be his kid's gonna be something special, way
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: better than her.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: Old man, I'm having that issue with I talked to
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: you this morning about Scarlett. I think she potentially could
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: be the cutest baby of all time. Potentially potentially because
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: my baby is also the cutest baby of all And
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: see that the problem viewers right now their baby, I'm saying,
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: so you say that, I'll I'm thinking, Okay, let's have
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: a little cute off. That's the question I've been asking
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: Jill is I go, honey, I think she's so cute,
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: but is she really that cute?
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Dude? It's the is she really that cute feeling in
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: the world. Man, You're just so enthralled and so in
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: love huh with your child. Man, it is the best feeling.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: And I was telling you this morning that you are
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: because you were talking about how it's just the best
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: it's the greatest thing in the world and the best
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: thing is and parents know this too, like you are
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: in the best days, and the best days just get better.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: Like I felt like every month was my favorite month,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: and they just keep getting better. Now I will say
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: I'm at a point to where three is the hardest
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: age that I've dealt with, to where it's my favorite
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: because I love being in these moments and I love
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: that we only have so many years. But also three
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: is a motherfucker right now. At the Compton household, yeah,
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: because Rue she is independent, wants to do everything on
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: her own. But they are like, bro, it gets better
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: every month. And when people are like, oh, wait till
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: they get six months or wait till they get eight months,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Like I'm sure I'm gonna make those comments to you.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Wait till they get twelve months or sixteen months, not
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: the good ones. But it's like it's gonna get even better,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: and you're just gonna be thinking, Yo, scarlet it two months. Rips,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: like why weren't they saying two months is the best month?
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Like it just it weirdly gets fucking better. Dude, It's awesome.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: I'm so fired up for you.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: She rips right now, She rips right now. I'm like you,
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: you sleep like crazy, You're awesome at sleeping. You eat
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: like crazy, You're awesome. It look out small you are, yeah, like,
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: oh my gosh. Okay, So we.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Do survival Kit. We gotta keep it under an ounce.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: Service Survival Kate. I might skip survival Kit because we
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: have an eight minute skip it.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Skip it.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: Go to skip it, skip it.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: D act.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: Pulling the burp cloth, all right, you put you put
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: your baby right here. If you're burping over the shoulder, yeah,
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: one thing you can't do is baby's face into your
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: shoulder because then, yeah, they can't breathe. Yes, How did
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: how do I address my baby? Said, I'm scared I'm
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: gonna break her neck blah blah, burp cloth baby, then
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: grab burp cloth, pull.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: Out more moves their head. Good, dad hack, and that
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: that comes to me a jill. But such a good
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: on your dad hack, such a good well.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: I've been doing it. I've been doing it, and it, dude,
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: you feel like a pro. You put her on there
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: and then you pull that out and that head turns
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: and then you just.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: And you hear that. Oh when they get the burn, dude,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: it's a celebration because sometimes it's a battle getting that
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: burp out and you're just like, sweetheart, just burp it's
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: gonna make you feel better. Yeah.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: And as soon as she burns, back down to football
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: and then wait wait wait.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Boom.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: Yeah, just easy, easy, she got from somewhere, dad hack.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Unpack the suitcase when you get home. Yeah, unpacked the
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: suitcase when you get home. Time and time again. I'll listen,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: I've been I've been two and oh with the last
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: two times. But every times when I get home, you
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: just want to kick their feet up. We're finally home.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: This is nice. Like you want to kick your feet
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: up on the couch. You want to maybe enjoy a snack.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: Don't do that, fellas, Yeah, don't do that. Just unpack
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: the suitcase with your wife, because your wife's not gonna stop.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: They're gonna be going around. Let's unpack, sweet art, Why
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: don't we just I gotta get the I gotta get
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: suitcase pack. It's got a suitcase unpacked. I gotta unload.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: I gott unload the food and snacks we got back
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: into the pantry. I gotta unpack my stuff. I don't
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: like having I don't like when it just sits on
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: the floor and you probably touch it.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: You're probably fighting that car that car ride shit, No, everybody.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: I will sneak in a little too. I'll sneak in
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: it too. Sweet. I'm gonna go to the bathroom real quick,
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: and then I'll be ready to go. But just unpack
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: the suitcase. If nothing else, unpack the kid's suitcase and
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: the stuff that goes back under the pantry and the refrigerator.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: So that way mom knows, hey, you're dialed in just
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: the way she is. Yes, teamwork makes the dream work.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: Because I'm still the cat that doesn't unpack my suitcase.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: When I get home, I'll leave mine sitting there at
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: the edge of the bed or down by the side
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: of the floor, because you never know what I might
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: dig back into to pull out. I never really unpack
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: the suitcase when I get back home. I was about
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: to say, I'm terrible at that and will sit in
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: there until my next trip, And I'm like, all right,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: and then I'll unpack the suitcase and then repack it
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: for my next trip. Pappa Team six six. However, Dad
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: hacked unpacked the suitcase. When you get home, just put
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: the head down, put the helmet on, dude, strap up,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: get the night vision goggles on, and get ready to
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: work for everybody else. Do all the work with everybody else,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: with with your wife. Take the kids suitcase to a room,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: unpack it. Sometimes you look in the suitcase, pake, I
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: don't know where this shit goes. Wife will know where
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: it goes, but at least place it out so she knows.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Oh you're dialed in. Yeah, you can leave your suitcase
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: for the dad. You can leave your suitcase pack just
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: to be clear, but unpacked the other suitcases.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: Good call.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: Unpack the other suitcases, good call.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: Call call ins. We have four of them and let's
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: get to them, and we have five minutes. First call in, Dude,
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: do I have this?
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Do you have scrambling? Oh?
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: No, you know I have it right here. You're having
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: to play first one. A lot of anonymous this week.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: The only one that wasn't anonymous is a mom, Oh,
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: let's go first first mom calling gotta keep it under
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: an hour, let's go, let's go.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: Boys.
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: We're in a situation soon to be father, a long
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: time soon to be. My wife's in the first trimester
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: and she's feeling like absolute duchie. So I hope to
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: be a first time dad. But I'm also a first
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: year head coach at the age of twenty five. So
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: I'm just driving back from the school at eleven thirty
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: pm camp tomorrow morning. I pull into the driveway, literally
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: sitting in the driveway right now being the hero in
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: all rounds, you know, husband, coach, teacher, hopefully father, no
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: God willing, and I'm sitting in my driveway, just got
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: a bad bunch of crap downe prepared for tomorrow. Knowing
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: that I told my wife if I do the dishes today,
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: because she loves the clean kitchen and she hasn't been
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: doing much since her heart and I just know I'm
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: about to go to battle with these dishes at eleven
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: thirty pm right now, And so I texted my assistant
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: coach told him be ready for violence in the morning,
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: and to be honest, I don't know if that can
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: wait till then. I just yeah, anyways, appreciate you boys,
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: keep up the podcast.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: Love you buddy. That that calling right there is I've
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: always loved the idea of coaching. I love I love it.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: I would love to do You'd be phenomenal. And the
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: only thing that telled me back is just like the
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: time you have to pour because he's hopefully right knock
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: on wood, soon to be dad, Hopefully all goes well,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: all goes smooth. But you're also like the dad of
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: like an entire football team. You're also the guy that's
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: operating the coaching staff. You have to get stuff ready
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: or late nights, it's early mornings, everything in between. You
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: also want to be a family guy at home, all
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: all of that stuff. I could not I can only
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: imagine the stress that man feels sitting sitting in the
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: driveway eleven thirty and I thinking I gotta go Oklahoma,
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: drill and meet these dishes in the A gap.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: But he's gonna do it. He's a future dad. He
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: sounds like he's gotta dialed in.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty five year old head coach. Hats off to you, bro.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: That is that is awesome. Shout out you for listening
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: to the pod. Can't wait to open, can't wait to
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: welcome you with open arms and the Papa Top Papa
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: Team six. I hope the dishes went well because you
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: are right, bro. The ladies they want to clean kitchen.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: They don't like clutter in the house. We have to declutter.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: We have to think about this ship because it's hard
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: for us to think about this ship because I don't
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: always remember to get all the boxes. I've talked about
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: the box issue before. Then they just start putting stuff
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: away that you're like, I didn't even know we were
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: were taking time right now to put stuff away. But
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: just you gotta be on your shit. He's somebody that's
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: gonna be away from the house a lot. But you
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: gotta be dialed in. You gotta be dialed in. You
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: gotta go full. What is it this circle around bull
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: in the ring? You gotta be ready for shots at
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: every angle, yep. And you gotta know you were walking
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: into a bull of the ring situation when you get home.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Because I know he cares about his career. He wouldn't
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: if he didn't care about his career. Wouldn't be a
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: head coach at twenty five years old. Yes, you have
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: to be fucking dialed. You gotta want violence and expect violence.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: Yes, I'm quite literally facing the exact same situation as
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: far as I have two minutes.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go next to say undern hour.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: Got say under an hour? Next caller, please go fast
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: because we gotta say under an hour. This is our
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: first mom call.
- 1:20:32Speaker 8: In Okay, Betsy.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: They don't know how to read.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: It's like music on Spotify's chef going going word for
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: word the line with her and it's.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Due.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: She's got it.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: The page and like look up when she turns mile
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: and they just they just got all rude. That is awesome.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: That'sh That takes a lot work. And you're trying to like,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: you know, and I'm on the back for like the
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: attribute other than being like, you're so shit. It is
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: eights little kids and what they're what.
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: They're crazy, dude, This.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Kid gonna be something special.
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: Way better that issue with I talked to Scarlett.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: I think Betsy let's Minneapolis, Minnesota and shout out her
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: husband Tyler, a member of Semen Team six. Hey, right, yeah,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: right now, he's on Semen or Seed Team six. Yeah,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: he's on that squad right now. Betsy is wanting to
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: show him a positive test result, acting asking for advice
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: on how she should show him. Ye who knows if
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: he watches the podcast. But maybe that's the spoiler alert
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: right there. Hopefully not, because what I personally would think
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: would be sick. We get her, chef Jack, this is
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: on you. Get her merch asap, get her merch a sap. Hey,
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: I got you something. I know you're hopefully Thougher's a
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: listener Busting with the Boys. Yeah, I know you're a
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: fan of Busting with the Boys, So I went ahead
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: and got you some merch. He'llens it up and it's
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: some for the dad's gear. For the dad's gear. So
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: with a positive pregnancy test and Betsy's sweetheart, I would
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: love for you to film it.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: Oh please film it please?
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: And I hope this isn't I hope we're not ruining
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: the surprise right now?
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: Should we film a video and send it to Betsy
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: of us saying dial it in? We could because the
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: moment to the other and this is also on that.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: First mom call in future mom, I hope everything goes
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: completely smooth. Betsy, thank you so much for calling in
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: the for the dads. Fires me up. That we had
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: our first art, that we had our first female call in.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: I love it. That's what we should do, though, Chef,
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: we got it. We gotta we gotta dial that in.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: We gotta get an address, a SAP and we gotta tell.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: We gotta tell the We gotta tell Garret, we gotta
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: tell the team. We gotta overnight this ship because I
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: think that would be a great gift. Gotta keep it
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: under an hour it can you play one more?
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: I literally, I literally have to go. You have to
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: go play okay, so really quick. Since technology, the two
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: that you need to play is this one and this
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: one after you played this one?
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: Double click? Which one work? Get out of here? I
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: love everyone, everyone, Hey, call in your dad lesson. You
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: said you had one videoed in and we can put
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: it at the end.
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: That's smart. That's smart, a video of my dad lesson everyone.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: I love you too, bro. Good luck out there. Let
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: me know how it goes.
- 1:23:39Speaker 8: Tell Joe, we love her, we love Joe, we love
- 1:23:41Speaker 8: we love.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: I love that song. Bitch, dude, I'll start this over
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: I'll start.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: That comes to be a jill. Well, dude, you feel
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: like put her on there and then you pull that
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: and then you just and you hear that.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: Sweetart, just burp. It's gonna make you as soon as
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: she burps.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: And then wait, wait boom, Dad hacked.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: And you get home. Yeah, and you get home time
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: and time. And I've been two and oh with the
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: last three times. When I get home, you just want
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: to get finally home. This is nice. Your feet up
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: on the couch. Ack, don't do that, fellas, just unpacked.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: Wife's not gonna stop. Sweet, Why don't we just suitcase
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: and it's unload. I gotta look into the pantry I
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: got on paping. I don't like when it just sits
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: on that ship.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: You're probably ship everybody.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: I'll sneak in it, too sweet, ready to go, but
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: just unpacked the back the kids suit pantry and the refrigerators. Hey,
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: you're duck. Teamwork makes the drill. The cat that doesn't unpack,
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: I'll leave mine sitting there at the edge of door
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: because you never know what I'm I just want to
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: get back home. No, I don't. I'm terrible at that
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: extrip and I'm like all right, and then I'll like
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: it for my next trip.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: A team said.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: What was his name?
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: That was an anonymous, anonymous caller.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Anonymous caller. That is a great dad hack and a
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: fat w for the scoreboard, because you're not only gonna
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: walk back in your house with a game base on,
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: you're gonna walk back in the house a hero because
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: you went and got the correct milk. Now the dad
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: hack in that moment, because he said something here that
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: all dads and POPA Team six need to understand. When
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: those moments arise, you're the first to raise your hand
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: and say I'll go get this because it is. It
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: buys you a little break. It buys you a little
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: break getting out of the house. Listen maybe what you
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: want to listen to. It gives you some alone time,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: nice little freedom time. Because you're ultimately doing what needs
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: to be done. You just want to be the first
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: in line to say, Hey, I will go pick up
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: the milk. Hey, I will go get this grocery. Oh,
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: we don't have frozen French fries for dinner. What kind
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: of side do we want for dinner. I'll run down
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: to Trader Joe's right now and go get that and
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: you get in the car and you enjoy, you enjoy
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: that little freedom that you have for a fleeting moment
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: because you're gonna have a smile on your face. Maybe
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: crack a window. But that is a dad hack. That
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: is a dad w right there, and that needs to
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: be in everybody. Every dad's playbook is if something's not
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: right at the house, and you can go get it,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: go go now, Go get it now, because you're gonna
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: get yourself a little window of a bit of a break.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: You're gonna get yourself a little bit of a break.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: We don't need any moms to see this clip. We
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: don't need any moms to hear this episode in that part,
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: because moms they might throw it back on us now
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: now that they know this, now that they know that
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: that's in the little playbook, moms might they might be
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: first in line doing something something like that. Then you're
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: stuck at home with the kiddos.
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: Yes, CVS is just a mile away, and you're gone
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: for an hour or what was going on.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: I'll take sometimes, I will take my time. You kind
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: of sit in, catch up on a couple things, you know,
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: work related, of course, of course, but then you pull in,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: you sit in the driveway. I love that he's backing,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: and you know he's just sitting in the dry way
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: buying a few extra minuts before he walks back into
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: the war zone. However, you got the milk in hand.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: You're a superhero. But appreciate that call anonymous caller. We
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: can get to Oh yeah, I have to do the
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: final caller.
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: Yeah, just click shure and tell you where to click.
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: Fireworks a non yep, knowing knowing.
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: I told my wife I do the dishes today because
- 1:27:30Speaker 6: she loves the cleanician and she hasn't been doing.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Papa Seal, and I just know I'm about
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: to go to battle with these dishes that right now.
- 1:27:43Speaker 6: And so I texted my assistant coach, told to be
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: ready for violence in the morning. Then I just yeah, anyways,
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: appreciate you boys, past love.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, buddy, I've always I love. I love like hopefully
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: get choke hopefully. But you're also like Papacio, thank you
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: for calling in. And I agree with them here, And
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: that's like a turning of the tide, Like you know,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: are we becoming Karen's by feeling like fireworks shouldn't be
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: just I mean two or three in the morning you're
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: if you're past midnight and you're hearing fireworks go off,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: I think you have you have the right to step
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: outside and go full dad mode on some kids. I
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: think you have full on right to say, hey, fellas,
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: pipe down a little bit. Trust me, I was in
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: your shoes. I love blowing up slugs and blowing up
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: fireworks late into the night hours. I'm not a cop.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I'm not gonna call the cops, but I need you
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: to tone them down because I got an eighteen month
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: old upstairs and these loud noises. I have to check
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: on her every time because it scares me that she's
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: gonna get woken up. And if she gets woken up,
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: you can bet your candy asses then I'll be out
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: here and the cops will be called. So you may
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: straightened your shit up, young man. Look at me when
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: I'm talking to you. Yeah, you cut the shit out.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: I don't want to come back out of here again,
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: because I swear to God, I will rain hell if
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: my eighteen month old gets woken up by your little
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: by your little fucking fireworks. Because I'm with you, I'm
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: with them. I was that little degenerate kid that wanted
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: to stay up as long as possible. My parents would
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: always make me come inside. But if I did have
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: the flexibility to be out as late as I possibly
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: could shooting off fireworks, I would do that because you
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: don't know any better, You don't know how to think
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: of everybody else, and that there's families going on. But
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: he when the fireworks were going off at like ten
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: pm and Scotty's sleeping, thank god she didn't wake up.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: But every time a pop goes off, I'm like checking
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: down on her to see if this year she's gonna
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: get woken up, because I'm thinking, God, we gotta have
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: some time limit. And then I'm like, oh, well, you're
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: getting a little too old. You're getting a little too
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: that's kind of some boomerism coming out of you right now.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: So I feel his pain. That's how I would probably
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: handle it is. If it's going on past midnight, I
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: think you have you gotta go. You gotta go, uh,
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: you gotta go pop a seal, you gotta go outside.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: You gotta set the expectation. You gotta let them know. Hey,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: I'm on your side. I was where you were at.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: But if you keep this ship up, I don't want
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: to call it. I want you guys to have a
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: great time. But if you keep this ship up and
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: my daughter or my son wakes up, bet your sweet
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: little ass, I will be right back out here and
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: the sirens will be going because I will call in
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: the entire army on you guys for interrupting my daughter
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: or my son's sleep. You have a dog, too, right, Waffle.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Waffle's terrified of fireworks. She goes and she goes in
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: like nestles in a corner. Some people probably have dogs.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: At Bark, I was with some dogs get all worked
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: up during the fireworks.
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: Freaked out from the fireworks, and it was the same
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: thing they were going off to, like the neighbors. I
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: was up with my girlfriend and her family's house and
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: they have four dogs and they were not it wasn't
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: good and the fireworks going to about midnight and it
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: was right next to him.
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, you're not opened up to all of this.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: I feel like until you kind of become a parent,
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: or you're you're an adult with real responsibilities where maybe
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: you have to be up the next day and some
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: of this stuff's going off and you're thinking, you know,
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: the loud music, but when you're a kid, You're not man.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: What do they gotta be such a party pooper? Like
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: why does he why do they have to be like that?
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: Like we're just having fun out here.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know about you, but like, even at
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: twenty three, there's a few things where I remember as a kid,
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: I'll be like my old man would get pissed off
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: about stuff and I'm like, dude, what you know, you
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: need to relax. And even at twenty three, I'll sit
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: there and I'll be like, that motherfucker's driving too fast
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: down through our neighborhood.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, And I'm like, holy.
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: Shit, I'm turning into my dad and that's terrifying.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: But like you'll it'll be more and more, especially once
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: you once you get the family going. Yeah, now you'll
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: be a lot more cautious, driving faster down certain roads,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: driving down roads, just driving in general, because you just
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: never know, Like you have your little one, they're like exploring,
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: they don't know you're trying to teach them, but shit
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: can happen like that. Dude. Appreciate the call in though.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: Appreciate the calling, and we will get into our last,
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: our last segment, which is a quote a lesson or
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: something that has marinated with us that we would like
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: to share, or maybe something that we're trying to learn
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: ourselves to become just better fathers in general. And I
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: came across something on I came across something on Instagram
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: that I will just that, I will just share let's
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: see here children. I do have a collection where it
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: just says children, so that way I can throw in
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: the stuff that I see. I'm like, oh, I like that.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: I want to come back to it. But I was
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: thinking too, because a lot of times, as parents, you
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: want to be able to provide your kids with like
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: great experiences or trips or take them somewhere because you
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: think it's going to be an awesome memory. A lot
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: of times it is because you're just there and you're
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: just present. But I know there are a lot of
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: people that can afford every trip in the world, and
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: they probably question themselves on if they are being the
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: parent that they that they should be, that they want
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: to be, that they arder their kid because their friends
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: might be doing something cool and they might not get
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: they might not get my wife's calling me, hang on
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: what Ell was going off of? I kind of lost
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: my train.
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: Of thought talking about you have a kid staying on
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: your phone.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I was. I was scrolling through Instagram and
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: I saw this, And I know me as a kid
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: growing up, I didn't always get to go on cool
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: trips that I thought, you know, my friends were going
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: on and everything else. So for those parents out there,
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: there something I saw on Instagram that I thought would
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: be fun to read. Shout out at Modern Parents' Guide,
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: good follow on Instagram. You don't need a five thousand
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: dollars Disney trip to build a happy childhood. You need
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: a garden hose, a popsicle, and a parent who's present.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: And here's the science behind why the backyard is enough.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: By each five, your child's brain is ninety percent developed.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: It's not shaped where you go, but by how safe
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: and how connected they feel. The brain doesn't store luxury,
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: emotion and repetition. The moments that happen again and again
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: become the wiring beneath everything. Backyard play offers the perfect
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: recipe for healthy brain development. It offers predictable rhythm, emotional coregulation,
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: and sensory rich learning. When your child feels safe in
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: your presence, their nervous system calms and the brain opens
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: up to learn, explore, and grow. This happens best in
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: everyday spaces, so sprinklers, mud puddles, bare feet in the grass.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: These aren't just fun. They build the sensory maps that
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: wire attention, movement, and emotional control. A one dollar popsicle
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: lights up more lights up, more joy than a one
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: thousand dollars theme park if it comes with the tunement.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Your face is what makes the memory magical. Children don't.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: Children don't need constant stimulation, They need responsive presence. The
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: brain develops best when life slows down enough to feel,
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: and research shows its repetition with emotional safety that wires
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: long term let regulation. That means the same swing, the
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: same snack, the same smile. You're not depriving your child
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: when you stay home more. You're giving them space to rest,
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: to attach, and to trust. The most resilient adults often
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: had childhoods filled with routine attonement and calm nervous systems,
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: not expensive plans. One day, they won't say my childhood
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: was magical because of where we went. They'll say it
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: was magical because of how I felt at home. You
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: already have what they need. Your eyes, your voice, your
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: presence and yes, your backyard. Save this for the days
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: you wonder if it's enough, because it is. The little
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: things don't just matter, they build the brain. Shout out
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: at Modern Parents' Guide for more insights on raising emotionally
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: secure kids. So a little, you know, a little shout
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: out to a profile that I follow, and I saw
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: that too, and I just think it'd be cool for
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: I thought it'd be good for just parents to hear,
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: because at times you battle with I want to take
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: them here, or this would be really cool for And
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: sometimes it might not fit the schedule, it might not
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: fit the budget, it might not fits it might not
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: fit the madness that goes on in all of our lives.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: But all those like reminders on the small things are
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: the best things. Those daily traditions, are weekly traditions or
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: monthly traditions, just your presence alone, it build It builds
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: who they are. So that was that was the lesson
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: that I wanted to share, something that kind of resonated
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: with me.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: It's true, I mean you remember, I mean as a
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: kid growing up, like hanging out with being with my
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: dad and brother is what I always remember a lot,
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: playing sports in the backyard or whether it's going riding
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: my bike around or walking to the neighborhood pool. You know,
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: I was fortunate we got to go on trips and
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: stuff because my dad traveled so much, like for work,
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: that we were able to He got points and stuff.
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: And they always try to expose me and my brother.
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: But like the stuff that I always remember is like
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: that time you spend and like you know, sometimes you
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: make fun.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: You make fun with yeah, what you have.
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: And I was still I think I was like the
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: last probably generation or age where we didn't grow up
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: with screens. So I grew up. I rode my I
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: got on my bike, and you went over to you know,
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: my buddy Warners, the neighbors, the Edwards, and we would
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: go play football in the backyard, to go build a fort.
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: And it wasn't until like maybe like seventh grade now,
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: probably fifth grade, when like the iPod and iPhones started
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: coming around, but that was still like that's how we
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: grew up. We went outside and you know, spent a
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: lot of time doing that.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: So and just making the most of what you have.
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't need a lot to have fun. That's
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: kind of the best part. And I hope that's you
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: know it better. Like I guess kids nowadays with like
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: screens and stuff like you put that in front of someone,
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: like I worry about like that kills creativity and like
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: kills like imagination and stuff like.
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the screen stuff is such like a unique topic
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: because it's like you just battle, like I feel like
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: we do a pretty good job. And it's almost like,
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: you know, when we got done with that car ride
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: to Missouri, it's like charl ends up making the comment
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: to me, like once we get to the airbnb that
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: we were in, it's like we kind of do it
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: to ourselves because we don't like put You could easily
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: just throw a screen in front of them and just
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: keep them occupied, but you think about the long term
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: of you know, in those situations giving them a screen,
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: then they're dependent. They start to get dependent on the screen.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: Then anytime they act up or misbehave or you're having
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: those moments where you just you'd rather just put a
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: screen in front of them than leave the pool, and
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: then it's like that's how they start to coregulate or
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: that's how they start to regulate their emotions by being like, oh,
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: I need a screen, And then you chalk it up
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: as like that'll keep their attention on this and not
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: present in the moment, or you're battling through boring moments,
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: moments of tantrums, all the things that, like it's hard
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: for the parent in the moment, but the longevity of
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: it or the long term from it is like, you know,
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: you get to where I was reading something to where
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: it's like, if you're putting screens in front of them
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: and I'll have this drop it up for the episode
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: next week. But if you put screens in front of
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: them now and you're doing it to kind of ease
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: the short term pain, then they get dependent on those screens.
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: And then when they get to school and they realize
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: there are no screens there, the work that they can
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: do that might not be on a screen, or maybe
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: it is on a screen, but their attention is so
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: locked in on focusing on a screen that they don't
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: have the attention to stay locked in, you know, in
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: a classroom or when they're in group settings to where
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: you know, all the ADHD and stuff kind of starts
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: to spike up or come about or come to the
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: surface a lot more these days, I feel like, and
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: then you know you're starting to medicate your kids all
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: because it's like in the building block developmental brain stages
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: of just fighting, like putting a screen in front of
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: them just because it'll take their attention away from the
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: current moment to put them on a screen, and that'll
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: just you know, it'll be this bad ripple effect that
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: happens like when they do get in school or when
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: they're becoming adults, because they just don't have they don't
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: have that brain development that they should have had when
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: they were little.
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: And it's kind of like, I don't know about when
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: you were growing up, but like I know, my parents
- 1:40:05Speaker 3: were very adamantly no TV in my room, like I
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: know some parents had grown up. I had friends who
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: had they had a TV, and whether it was TV
- 1:40:12Speaker 3: time or something, my parents are like, no TV because
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: we know you and your brother, you guys will turn
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: it on it you'll stay at you'll act a sleep
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: and then get up in like midnight and watch like
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: a movie or something.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: Yeah. But that's how we were. That's yeah, that's how
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: we were.
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: Mom, they were adamant. So I grew up and staid,
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: which I actually like at the time you're sitting there,
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: maybe when you when you're grown up and you're kind
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: of pissed off, like Billy gets a TV. Yeah, you know,
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: and you're I have to. But then looking back at it,
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, man, Like I'm kind of glad because
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: I learned instead of it in that I read like
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: that was a normal thing, Like I read all the
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: time to go to sleep, and it's something that even
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: as I'm getting older, I'm like, I I find myself
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: on TikTok and stuff, and I'm like, that will.
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: Keep you up.
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: Like I've learned that I scrolling the doom scrolling man,
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: and I I have to put my I put my
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: phone away, Like for anyone that has issues with that.
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: What I've started doing is that no TikTok, no Instagram
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: reels three hours before bed, like I said, a hard note,
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: and that's like I've started sleeping so much better. Yeah,
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: It's like I feel you on that where it's like
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: you get worried about.
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: You're right though, Like if I even think about mine,
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: like we I had a TV. We had a TV
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: in our room and I'll watch TV. I'd fall asleep
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: to the TV. We've like even though we didn't have screens,
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: like you know, once computers were a thing and you
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: could play backyard baseball or SIMS or roller coaster Tycoon.
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: We'd be fighting over to have like computer time. And
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: I just feel like with that, I was in the
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: generation of high school where the iPhone came out to
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: where there was MySpace and Facebook just started. But thinking
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: of myself now, like there'll be a lot of times
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: like I can just admit that the phone will consume
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: me at times, or where my attention is like fleeting.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: We don't have a TV in our room now, like
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: Charles a big believer not having a TV in the
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: room and everything else. But Cody was was somebody who
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: had like the like ADHD And if I think about
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: my brain on how my attention works at times, I
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: feel like I can think back to those things and
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: be like, yeah, I was like a menace with whether
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: playing video games or watching TV, playing video games late
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: at night, wanting to stay up later, sneaking.
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: It, trying to play video games late.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and you know you get reprimanded from it
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: and get disciplined sometimes on weekends not not enough or
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: not like we probably should have. But if you're just
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: thinking about the screens and everything else, like toe and
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: I are big on just I guess just eating and
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: leaning into the fray and just it's like making it
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: hard on ourselves. I guess, to protect what we feel
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: like screens would do if we're putting in front of
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: our kids all the time. Because real get pissed off.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: When she ran out of TV coupons last week. You know,
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: we do that coupon system and she used up her
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: last thirty minute coupon tour. It was like, the next day,
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: you don't have anymore. Like, I know you want to
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: watch TV. Trust me, I would love for you to
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: watch TV, so I could just take a break. But
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: your thirty minutes, your coupons ran out. You're just gonna
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: have to know next week. Hey, you're gonna have to
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: spread them out a little bit better.
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: Just deal with it. I, by the way, recommended that
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: to a couple of us all this weekend. They have
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: a little three year old boy shout out Townsend and
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: the dad logan great guy who looked at me and
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: he's like, I don't know, dude, he's a fucking demon.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: Dude, I'm telling you, because like she'll get pissed like that,
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: I kind of watch more. Yes, sweetheart, you have like
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: fifteen more minutes. Yes, you can watch more, like she's
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: always checking, like am I able to watch more? Yeah,
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: you have like fifteen more minutes. But when it's done,
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: it's done. You have to turn it off. Yeah, and uh,
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: sometimes it's a battle just because like you're giving them
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: a little bit of screen time. And again, the screens
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: are just like gravitating. They love to be on those
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: fucking things. And so charl and I we fight our
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: asses off not to not to like go to you know,
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: she doesn't know what an iPad is, but like give
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: her an iPad or give her a screen when we're
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: in the car traveling.
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: Do you think it's inevitable that sooner or later?
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: Yeah, of course it is, yeah, growing up, but.
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: Like you're gonna just hold out as long as possible.
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: You know, I'm not sure until we get there. Like again,
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: like my only experience right now is I have an
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: eight month old and a three year old, Like I
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: don't have, you know, an eight year old, a nine
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: year old, a ten year old, somebody who's going to school,
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: and they might have, you know, screens, and I'm sure
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: that they'll, you know, with the AI movement, just technology
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: in general, they're gonna they're gonna have to like understand
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: that world. But I don't know. We talk about it,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: like we don't want them to have social media even
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: through high school. Don't want them to have social media.
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: Just the stuff I'm reading in the Strong Father's Strong
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: Daughter stuff, the data it's just scary to think about.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: I'll start, I'll continue to put like a frameworker something
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: to go by later, like as she gets older. But
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: I know, like right now we want to do whatever
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: we cannot to not to have them like depending on
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: screens or definitely not social media or having their own phone.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: That those are like what the conversations we're having now
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: as she's a three year old. So I don't know
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: how it'll develop or adapt in the future, but I
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: know it's like, you know, it's one of those things
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: we want to be very want to be very cautious.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's all good. I think you guys
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: have a good mindset of it as someone who's not
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: a parent, but I can that's kind of stuff that
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: I even I'm like, ah, man, like a lot of
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: that stuff is scary.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: Social media is a big one, dude. Depression is getting
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: more real at the young age starts to base.
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: Your life off of like that social presence, and it's
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: like it's just so dangerous, and I'm like, and that
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: was I mean you said high school is when MySpace
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: came out. When I was in like middle school, Snapchat
- 1:45:36Speaker 3: became big, then Instagram and those were ones that and
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: then like just naturally, I think my age is like
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: some of the first that really like you grew up
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: and you started I think I had an Instagram account
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: when I was like in middle school. But it's like, yeah,
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: you start to like, you know, look around. You do
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: a lot of looking.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: Yeah, you do a lot of comparing.
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: Comparisons, and it's just.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: People can think it's it's it's it's weird, or like
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: disagree with it. But I think even us as adults,
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: like even we struggle with it. Yeah, you get called
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: comparing looking at everybody's highlight reels. You want to, you know,
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: post all the best things on your social media if
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: if you're not somebody who posts a lot, like I'm
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: sure you sit there and you scroll. Like even we
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: struggle with it as adults, and it's like, you know,
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: these these kids that just don't even have a fully
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: developed brain, or they don't understand how the world works,
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: and they're getting how the world works from social media
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: and everything that's not even real consume their brain. Yeah,
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: I think it's like a slippery slope. So we've started
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: having those conversations, but I'm sure we'll continue to formulate
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: whatever it is. And you both just approach you with
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: teamwork man arm in arm staying strong, and we sure
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: we sure we don't want to let her watch them
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: blowy right now? Be sure we don't want to letter
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: watch something just to the need to play it down
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: right now.
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: It needs parent Team six. Yeah, along with POPA Team six.
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Parent Team six.
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: You guys are both in it.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. But appreciate all of you tuning in. Please
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: make sure to subscribe to our new channel for the
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: Dads on YouTube or on YouTube, Apple, Spotify Everything. If
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: you want to support us and rep the merch bwtv
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: dot com. We will see you next week. Take out
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: the trash, Love you boys.
- 1:47:17Speaker 9: I shot this horizontally.
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: I hope it works, Chef, thank you for patching us
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: into the episode.
- 1:47:24Speaker 9: Will Here's my lesson of the week.
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: A lesson of the week is to have a mentor
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: that is in far further along in fatherhood than you are.
- 1:47:35Speaker 2: Will is that for me. And I told him this
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: morning that he was going to be a lesson of
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: the week. And I don't think Will and I ever
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: really planned, or you know, I never really asked Will
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: to be a mentor to me. It just kind of
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: naturally happened through conversations that we had with each other
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: about family planning and his kids and his marriage with
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: Charro and my marriage with Jill, and those conversations just
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: kind of flowed very naturally and easily. But it has
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: been a relationship in my life that I have learned
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: so much from. And not that your mentor can't be
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: like a father in law or your own dad, because
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: obviously they they're further along and father than you. But
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: somebody that's a third party, somebody that's like outside of
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: your family, maybe outside the traditions of your family, that
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: has their own thing going on with their kids, and
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: just being able to see another perspective here, another way
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: of doing things.
- 1:48:36Speaker 9: Seeing Will even.
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: Interacting with his kids, and seeing Charro interacting with their kids,
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: it's cool. And so I've just learned a ton from
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: Will over these past couple months and having these conversations
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: with him that it really has brought not only the
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: confidence to start a family, which we've already.
- 1:48:57Speaker 9: Touched on in the podcast, but it's probably a lot
- 1:48:59Speaker 9: of confie.
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: It's in just being a dad. Just in these first
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: I'm like, what day four of being a dad? So
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: I hope that that message finds anybody well that is
- 1:49:12Speaker 2: planning to start a family or has just started a family,
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: or maybe you got kids in high school, kids in college.
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: I think that that can apply to anyone and everyone.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: So just finding a mentor finding a friend or accountabcountabil
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: a buddy that is further along in the fatherhood process.
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: And maybe for those PT six Sikahs out there, finding
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: somebody that is just.
- 1:49:39Speaker 9: Becoming a dad.
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: Being that mentor to somebody, I know it meant a
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: lot to me, will kind of coming alongside and teaching
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: me and show me the ropes on a lot of
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: different stuff.
- 1:49:50Speaker 9: And having convos with me.
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: So any PT six Sikos out there that want to
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: recruit their friends into the fatherhood or just be a
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: mentor a guide to them, maybe actively seek out some
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: of those young gun future dads.
- 1:50:08Speaker 9: That was my last thing of the week.
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: I hope you all enjoyed the rest of the podcast.
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: I know Will probably killed it, and again, Chef, thank
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: you for.
- 1:50:14Speaker 9: Patching this into the episode. I hope everybody has a
- 1:50:17Speaker 9: good week.
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: I hope we come it under it now, piece of luck.
- 1:50:22Speaker 9: See you guys,
