- 2:52Speaker 3: All right, e Sports, we hear all about it. I
- 2:55Speaker 3: don't necessarily know what it is, but a couple of
- 2:57Speaker 3: guys who do are going to join us because they've
- 2:59Speaker 3: got a big amig on in Charleston. Soon introduce yourself, fellows.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Yeah, so I'm Isaac Comer. I am the Esports program
- 3:07Speaker 5: coordinator here at ELMA Edge. I did this straight out
- 3:10Speaker 5: of high school. I graduated from GW twenty twenty five
- 3:13Speaker 5: and I started by playing Competitive Smash Bros. That's a
- 3:17Speaker 5: video game one the Nintendo Switch.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Ryan, by the way, is our is our gaming expert,
- 3:21Speaker 3: our producer, Ryan Nicholson. So just say so, Ryan, you
- 3:24Speaker 3: might want to grab the headphones because we might we
- 3:26Speaker 3: might have some I might have a space for you
- 3:28Speaker 3: in here. He actually does a gaming report on Metro
- 3:31Speaker 3: News Hotline from time to time. So, so go ahead.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I didn't mean to interrupt you, but as soon as
- 3:35Speaker 3: you said that, I watched Ryan. You know, just you know,
- 3:40Speaker 3: you got all excited in here. So so go ahead,
- 3:42Speaker 3: go ahead and finish. I'm sorry.
- 3:43Speaker 5: So, yeah, I got this opportunity straight out of high
- 3:46Speaker 5: school just playing video games, and as the esports program
- 3:52Speaker 5: coordinator here at ELMA Edge, I just want to see
- 3:53Speaker 5: other people get the same opportunities that I have.
- 3:55Speaker 3: And what about you, sir? Go ahead, introduce yourself.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Yes, my name is Robert and I'm My title is
- 4:01Speaker 6: esports coach, so I kind of assist with event coordination
- 4:04Speaker 6: and planning and as well as player development.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Esports coach. Now what does that entail.
- 4:11Speaker 6: Well, just like with traditional sports, it takes practice and
- 4:15Speaker 6: kind of like a building of muscle memory for the
- 4:18Speaker 6: development of skill, and the same applies to esports. You know,
- 4:23Speaker 6: learning how to space yourself, learning how to apply certain
- 4:27Speaker 6: techniques in real time, that sort of thing.
- 4:30Speaker 3: And this thing is huge, I mean, and look, games
- 4:33Speaker 3: have always been around, you know, I'm a kid of
- 4:35Speaker 3: the nineteen seventies. I remember, you know, when the Atari
- 4:38Speaker 3: came out in television ollvisions. But this is a if
- 4:41Speaker 3: you're an old guy like me, what you guys do
- 4:44Speaker 3: is a totally different level. It can appear as such.
- 4:49Speaker 6: Yeah, it's it's more approachable than most people would think, probably.
- 4:52Speaker 3: And it's and it's not just games, because this is
- 4:56Speaker 3: I mean, people are making a career on this sort
- 4:59Speaker 3: of thing. Talk about that, correct.
- 5:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Absolutely, Esports in general is a multi billion dollar industry
- 5:05Speaker 6: and it's pretty fairly underdeveloped in Charleston, and we're working
- 5:08Speaker 6: pretty hard to try to change that.
- 5:10Speaker 3: And that's why I wanted to have you guys on
- 5:11Speaker 3: here to talk about this because you got a big
- 5:12Speaker 3: event coming up that's going to bring a lot of
- 5:15Speaker 3: people into town, right, Well, at least that's the hopes, right.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Yeah, we're a little bit more than fifty per registrants,
- 5:22Speaker 5: and registration goes up today. And part of what I've
- 5:26Speaker 5: been doing in this process, I just message all of
- 5:29Speaker 5: these top players. We have I think five top one
- 5:32Speaker 5: hundred players on the planet coming here to try the planet.
- 5:36Speaker 3: On the planet, not from Cross Lanes or not from
- 5:38Speaker 3: Campbell's greet right, I mean on the planet, are coming
- 5:40Speaker 3: to Charleston.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Yeah, some of the best players in the world will
- 5:43Speaker 5: be here in Charleston just to compete. And that's kind
- 5:47Speaker 5: of the beauty of esports. We can bring so many
- 5:50Speaker 5: talented individuals together and it just respawns from the passion
- 5:53Speaker 5: for the games that we play.
- 5:54Speaker 3: So for people like me, they're on the outside kind
- 5:58Speaker 3: of looking at what's the appeal here than just the competition,
- 6:01Speaker 3: because like you said, this is just and this is
- 6:03Speaker 3: becoming like any other sport. I mean, this is golf,
- 6:07Speaker 3: this is tennis, this is all of the pickleball, whatever
- 6:09Speaker 3: the hot thing is right now, this is all these
- 6:10Speaker 3: things all.
- 6:11Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, absolutely, Just like in high level traditional sports,
- 6:15Speaker 6: you know, onlookers can appreciate a level of skill that
- 6:19Speaker 6: they can't seem to achieve themselves.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why people watch golf or go to tournaments.
- 6:25Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, I could do that one day, you know,
- 6:27Speaker 8: and he realized, well, now, so you guys been been
- 6:31Speaker 8: gamers your whole life, I mean, or born basically with
- 6:35Speaker 8: playing playing the game.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 6:37Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 6:38Speaker 5: If I didn't go with this path, with the event coordination,
- 6:42Speaker 5: I probably would have played for a college and it
- 6:46Speaker 5: would have been similar to you know, a traditional sports scholarship,
- 6:50Speaker 5: you know, almost a football scholarship. I would be paid
- 6:52Speaker 5: money to play for their esports team.
- 6:55Speaker 3: And this is what is fascinating to me about this.
- 6:58Speaker 3: I set in on a meeting another previous job I
- 7:01Speaker 3: had a couple of years ago, and people were they
- 7:03Speaker 3: were taught and this wasn't a radio job, by the way.
- 7:06Speaker 3: They were talking about this whole esports and it being
- 7:08Speaker 3: a career, and you know, it was like within any
- 7:12Speaker 3: other sport. Okay, the chances of you making it big
- 7:15Speaker 3: to the NFL, major League Baseball, whatever, you know, are
- 7:18Speaker 3: pretty pretty slam But I mean it happens, and it's
- 7:23Speaker 3: and it's happening right here in Charleston.
- 7:25Speaker 5: Yeah, and uh, that is another thing that kind of
- 7:29Speaker 5: separates esports from a traditional sport is the accessibility. Because
- 7:33Speaker 5: whenever you look at something like the NFL, really everybody
- 7:36Speaker 5: limits themselves of Oh, I just have to be, you know,
- 7:40Speaker 5: physically gifted, and I have to put all these hundreds
- 7:42Speaker 5: of hours of practice in, whereas with the esports, you
- 7:45Speaker 5: don't just have to be a player, you know, I myself,
- 7:47Speaker 5: I'm an event coordinator. There is a whole production side
- 7:51Speaker 5: to the events. There's a promotion side of the events.
- 7:53Speaker 5: There are a million different careers that you can find
- 7:56Speaker 5: all in this little bubble, and it's so easily accessible.
- 7:59Speaker 3: And that's what That's what was fascinating me when I
- 8:02Speaker 3: was doing a little bit of reading some of the
- 8:03Speaker 3: information that's provided me about this is that it's not
- 8:06Speaker 3: not to downplay it, gas, but it's not just you know,
- 8:09Speaker 3: people sitting around playing games. I mean, these are careers
- 8:12Speaker 3: and universities, as you mentioned, universities now have esports teams.
- 8:17Speaker 6: Hundreds of universities and in fact, here in West Virginia
- 8:20Speaker 6: we have the most developed number one the best esports
- 8:24Speaker 6: program in Concord University in Athens, West Virginia. They were
- 8:29Speaker 6: national champions like the past three.
- 8:31Speaker 9: Years in a row.
- 8:32Speaker 6: They're the best esports program in the country.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I love it and it's right here in West Virginia.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I want to talk about this tournament. You got covered
- 8:38Speaker 3: up here at about the people that are coming in momentarily.
- 8:40Speaker 3: But Dave Island showing five eighty live is broad to good.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Part my husband's pizza this month get a large at
- 8:45Speaker 3: and inch Pepperoni pizza and an eight inch chocolate chip
- 8:47Speaker 3: cookie twenty three ninety nine Jack Engineers Hustin's Pizza over delivery,
- 8:51Speaker 3: Dinam or pick up a Hustan's Pizza dot com. I
- 8:53Speaker 3: mentioned our producer, Ryan Nicholson, is a huge You guys
- 8:56Speaker 3: wanted to put the headphones on for this. I'm gonna
- 8:58Speaker 3: bring Ryan in here to give him an opportunity maybe
- 9:00Speaker 3: to quiz you guys a little bit. Ryan, go ahead.
- 9:03Speaker 11: Sure. I was actually wondering is this tournament going to
- 9:07Speaker 11: be streamed anywhere Twitch YouTube or is it solely in person?
- 9:11Speaker 5: So not only is it going to be streams, We're
- 9:13Speaker 5: actually going to have two streams and on our mainstream,
- 9:16Speaker 5: we will be on KML Tournaments, which is the third
- 9:19Speaker 5: largest Smash Ultimate Twitch account that you can find. And
- 9:23Speaker 5: on our side stream, we'll be doing what's called a
- 9:25Speaker 5: quad stream, where there are four individual matches going on,
- 9:28Speaker 5: all on the same stream, so you can watch four
- 9:30Speaker 5: different matches and you can tune into both of those
- 9:33Speaker 5: from home.
- 9:33Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 9:34Speaker 11: Nice, And is it just Smash Ultimate? Do you have Melee?
- 9:37Speaker 11: Do you have any other fighting games?
- 9:39Speaker 5: So yeah, we're just running Smash Ultimate for this iteration,
- 9:42Speaker 5: but I play a lot of tech and I play
- 9:44Speaker 5: a lot of street fighter.
- 9:45Speaker 11: Nice.
- 9:45Speaker 5: If the people want it, we will make it happen.
- 9:47Speaker 11: Nice, here's your main.
- 9:49Speaker 5: I play we Fit Trainer and Pitt Nice.
- 9:52Speaker 11: I'm a Samus main.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I think we'll see you there, and that's why I
- 9:56Speaker 3: brought Ryan Ann to talk about this all right, talk
- 9:58Speaker 3: about the tournament, the and whares and all the stuff again. Yeah. Absolutely.
- 10:03Speaker 6: It's going to take place on November fifteenth, and we're
- 10:07Speaker 6: located at the Element Edge on the west side of Charleston.
- 10:10Speaker 6: That's sixteen eleven Fourth Avenue, And if you are wanting
- 10:17Speaker 6: to find more information, you can head to the element
- 10:19Speaker 6: edge dot org and register there as well.
- 10:23Speaker 3: And how many people are you expecting to come in
- 10:25Speaker 3: for this start about I mean you mentioned earlier, but
- 10:27Speaker 3: to just so people understand how big this is going
- 10:28Speaker 3: to be about how many people are you expecting it
- 10:30Speaker 3: because you got them coming from all over.
- 10:32Speaker 5: Yeah, So registration closes the twelfth, and like I said,
- 10:34Speaker 5: registration goes up tonight. So up until that point, like
- 10:37Speaker 5: I said, we're over a little more than fifty entrants
- 10:39Speaker 5: at the moment, and that includes talent. We have a
- 10:42Speaker 5: player coming from Chile, we have a player coming from
- 10:44Speaker 5: New York, we have a player coming from New Jersey.
- 10:48Speaker 5: The talent spreads so far beyond the borders of West Virginia.
- 10:52Speaker 6: Yeah, an event like this has never taken place in Charleston.
- 10:55Speaker 6: This is the highest, you know, level of competition that's
- 10:58Speaker 6: ever been here.
- 10:59Speaker 3: And these people are and these people are gonna come
- 11:01Speaker 3: in and they're gonna spend money, and they're gonna go eat,
- 11:03Speaker 3: and they're gonna stay in hotels. And that's what That's
- 11:05Speaker 3: what makes me happy exactly. That's what makes people the
- 11:07Speaker 3: CVB and the City of Charleston happy too. And I mean, really,
- 11:11Speaker 3: we are really lucky to have this coming to Charleston.
- 11:14Speaker 3: West Virginia because nothing like this has ever happened happened before. Guys,
- 11:18Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here. And Ryan, I appreciate you

- 14:07Speaker 3: not trying to be rude or anything, but how is
- 14:09Speaker 3: this possibly a sport? When people claim that things like
- 14:11Speaker 3: cheerleading in a marching band are not considered a sports,
- 14:13Speaker 3: how is this the sports? Because it's competition, and I
- 14:16Speaker 3: think all those things that you mentioned text or cheerleading,
- 14:18Speaker 3: marching band, I think they're all considered sports. Esports is
- 14:21Speaker 3: the is the fastest growing competition competitions in the country,
- 14:28Speaker 3: and when universities like Concord University have esports teams. Yeah,
- 14:32Speaker 3: I call it a sport. I really really do. And
- 14:35Speaker 3: I mean to say not necessarily my thing. I'm the
- 14:37Speaker 3: kid that grew up in the nineteen seventies that didn't
- 14:39Speaker 3: play video games. Okay I didn't. I did not have
- 14:41Speaker 3: an only kid on my block in my neighborhood that
- 14:44Speaker 3: didn't have an atari. Okay, I'm talking. That's how old
- 14:46Speaker 3: I am. But it's huge, and what I like about
- 14:49Speaker 3: it is the fact that it's going to bring all
- 14:52Speaker 3: these people into Charleston. It's gonna put people in hotels,
- 14:57Speaker 3: They're gonna spend money. Think people from Chile coming in.
- 15:01Speaker 3: All right, So I appreciate the text, but yeah, it's
- 15:05Speaker 3: I mean, one hundred percent of sport. And then the
- 15:07Speaker 3: other things that the text mentioned Exta mentioned are sports
- 15:10Speaker 3: as well. I messed up the schedule a little bit.
- 15:12Speaker 3: I said, deligate Hollis Lewis was next. He's actually a
- 15:14Speaker 3: little bit later on in the show. And so Hollis,
- 15:16Speaker 3: if you're driving in right now, that's on me, buddy.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Don't don't speed to get here. Because you're actually coming
- 15:20Speaker 3: up later on I got my schedule mixed up. But

- 16:01Speaker 3: the Jets, and I had Mike Pushkin on the show
- 16:04Speaker 3: yesterday State Democratic Party and chair in delegate with Pushkin's
- 16:07Speaker 3: also about the biggest New York Jets fan I've ever met. Actually,
- 16:11Speaker 3: I think he may be the second New York Jets
- 16:13Speaker 3: fan I've ever met in my entire life. And he
- 16:16Speaker 3: was lamenting the fact that they let Sauce Gardner go,
- 16:18Speaker 3: and they also let the defensive lineman go. With the
- 16:20Speaker 3: Cowboys picked up. I mean, I mean, at this point,
- 16:24Speaker 3: as a Cowboy fan, Joe, and I know you're as
- 16:26Speaker 3: big a fan as I am, I'm saying, what's Randy
- 16:30Speaker 3: White doing these days? I mean, can we get Rink?
- 16:32Speaker 3: Can we get the Manster out of retirement? I mean,
- 16:34Speaker 3: where's where's Leon Letts, where's any of these Charles Haley?
- 16:38Speaker 3: Bring them back in because we need help.
- 16:43Speaker 15: Yeah, and that's all I got to That's all you.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Got to say about that. Let's talk about wagon tails
- 16:48Speaker 3: and nitro ales this Saturday.
- 16:50Speaker 15: Talk about it coming up this Saturday. The event itself
- 16:55Speaker 15: will be from ten until four. The Chili Tastings starts
- 16:59Speaker 15: at eleven o'clock. We will be lined up with chili
- 17:02Speaker 15: cooks and vendors and all kinds of neat things on
- 17:06Speaker 15: Second from twenty first Street all the way down to
- 17:10Speaker 15: nineteenth Street along Second Avenue right there at Living Memorial Park.
- 17:14Speaker 15: Things will get underway. The weather is gonna look like
- 17:18Speaker 15: it's gonna hold out for us. I know we're gonna
- 17:20Speaker 15: have some rain tomorrow, but for Saturday, it looks like
- 17:25Speaker 15: cloudy and some temperatures that will abide or getting out
- 17:30Speaker 15: and having some fun. We'll have some food trucks, we'll
- 17:32Speaker 15: have some the adult beverages, as we say, will be
- 17:37Speaker 15: flowing for the event. But yeah, it gets underway at
- 17:41Speaker 15: ten o'clock and we'll be going until about four o'clock.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's always a big event. How many years
- 17:46Speaker 3: has this been going on.
- 17:47Speaker 15: Joe, It's been going on, this wagging tail. This is
- 17:52Speaker 15: getting close to fifteen years now. And a few years
- 17:56Speaker 15: ago we combined it with the smoke on the water
- 17:59Speaker 15: chili cook golf Jim Pearcy and how folks we combine
- 18:03Speaker 15: the two. But now it's the wagon tails and nitro
- 18:06Speaker 15: als and it just it brings folks out and they
- 18:09Speaker 15: have a good time. It's great fellowship, uh and just
- 18:13Speaker 15: a fun time walking around. And it also Dave is
- 18:16Speaker 15: near to heart. We we raise money for some really
- 18:20Speaker 15: really important groups that serve the area. First off, we
- 18:25Speaker 15: have the Hospice Care. They will be selling all the
- 18:30Speaker 15: dog bones that are used for picking the people's choice,
- 18:35Speaker 15: and all the proceeds from the People's Choice category that
- 18:39Speaker 15: they raised money for I'll go straight to Hospice Care.
- 18:43Speaker 15: And then also all the proceeds from the beverages and
- 18:47Speaker 15: some of the vendors kick in will go to West
- 18:50Speaker 15: Virginia Canine Search and Rescue and the Putnam County Animal Shelter.
- 18:55Speaker 15: They'll be on hand, and it's just it's a great
- 19:00Speaker 15: time to raise some money for some great causes.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Indeed it is. We're talking to Joe Stephens from the
- 19:04Speaker 3: City of Nitroda Island show on five eighty Lives brought
- 19:07Speaker 3: to you in part but I Live Healthy West Virginia
- 19:09Speaker 3: presented by WVU Medicine, a podcast promoting healthier lifestyles than
- 19:12Speaker 3: to be on the State. Check avlatest episodes wv metronews
- 19:15Speaker 3: dot com under the podcast menu. And when we talk
- 19:18Speaker 3: about the chili at this thing and last year, I
- 19:20Speaker 3: have attended the event in the past, but I had
- 19:23Speaker 3: never been as big a part of it as what
- 19:24Speaker 3: I was last year. And I'm playing on being a
- 19:26Speaker 3: big part of it this year. But thanks to Joe
- 19:28Speaker 3: Stevens as well. This is serious biz with this chili.
- 19:32Speaker 3: I mean, this is an officially sanctioned international what do
- 19:37Speaker 3: you call it, International Chili Cookers Association with it the
- 19:41Speaker 3: Chili Society Society. This is an officially sanctioned event.
- 19:46Speaker 15: Exactly. We have three categories along with people's choice, of course,
- 19:50Speaker 15: but we have three categories that cooks will be vying
- 19:56Speaker 15: for a spot in the twenty twenty six World Championships.
- 20:00Speaker 15: Those three categories being your home style, which is what
- 20:04Speaker 15: Dave Allen cooks up for his Super Bowl party, which
- 20:09Speaker 15: one day he and I will tend together and watch
- 20:12Speaker 15: the Cowboys win their fifth championship, but that's another story
- 20:16Speaker 15: for another time. The Home Style competition, and then we'll
- 20:20Speaker 15: have the Birdie competition, which is green chili, and we
- 20:24Speaker 15: also have the traditional red and the significance of the
- 20:28Speaker 15: traditional red no beans or filler or pasta or anything
- 20:31Speaker 15: of that nature will be in that chili. So the
- 20:34Speaker 15: three winners of those three categories will be representing the
- 20:37Speaker 15: city of Nicro the Wagon Tails and Nitro Als Chili
- 20:40Speaker 15: cookolf at the World Championships in twenty twenty six. So
- 20:43Speaker 15: there's a lot on the line, and the neat thing
- 20:45Speaker 15: about it is this cookoff is occurring just a few
- 20:49Speaker 15: weeks after the World Championships were held in October, and
- 20:53Speaker 15: so this is one of the first cookoffs that they
- 20:56Speaker 15: will be able to contend for a spot in the
- 21:00Speaker 15: twenty twenty six World Championships.
- 21:02Speaker 3: And last year, thanks to my good friend Joe Stevens,
- 21:05Speaker 3: I was asked to be a judge, and I have
- 21:07Speaker 3: judged chili competitions over the years. I've done other food competitions.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Just did mac and cheese this past Saturday Capitol Market
- 21:15Speaker 3: prior to your event. I'm going to be back at
- 21:18Speaker 3: Capital Market for the Biscuits and Gravy bowl. It is
- 21:20Speaker 3: rough to be me because I got to judge biscuits
- 21:23Speaker 3: and gravy in the morning and then I gotta do
- 21:25Speaker 3: chili in the afternoon. But I will say this about
- 21:28Speaker 3: the way that you do it. I don't want to
- 21:29Speaker 3: give away too much here. I mean, when it comes
- 21:32Speaker 3: to judging in a officially sanctioned chili contest, Joe, this
- 21:37Speaker 3: is not just okay, everybody, all right, let's take a
- 21:39Speaker 3: byte and move on. I mean, it is synchronized, for
- 21:43Speaker 3: lack of a better term.
- 21:44Speaker 15: Joe, it is well organized. We have a judges meeting,
- 21:49Speaker 15: we go over some criterias and that sort of thing.
- 21:52Speaker 15: And David's funny because you've seen me hold the judges
- 21:55Speaker 15: meeting before. Oh yeah, And I'll ask questions and I'll
- 21:59Speaker 15: actually have people. I'll ask you a question, is anybody
- 22:02Speaker 15: here not like the chili? And I'll get people in
- 22:05Speaker 15: years past say, yeah, that's me. Why are you here? Yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 15: I want the free beer. Well we don't have free beer.
- 22:12Speaker 15: See you later. Or they'll say, or we used to
- 22:16Speaker 15: have a vegetarian competition. We don't have that anymore. But
- 22:19Speaker 15: I have somebody say they're a vegetarian, I'll pick around
- 22:23Speaker 15: the meat. Uh no, I don't think so, and we
- 22:27Speaker 15: move on. But yes, it is, uh it is. All
- 22:32Speaker 15: the judges go through a judges meeting and we get
- 22:34Speaker 15: the criterias and uh, then it's it's it's no, it's
- 22:38Speaker 15: I mean it's a pretty quiet thing. And this not
- 22:40Speaker 15: an eating it's a tasting, yeah, and it's a judging.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Yeah it's and and that's the way it works. And
- 22:45Speaker 3: I mean you locked us all, you sequestered us all
- 22:48Speaker 3: in a room last year. I don't remember how many
- 22:50Speaker 3: judges there were, but there were several. And I mean
- 22:52Speaker 3: it's like you, you know, you take a bite, you
- 22:54Speaker 3: get a different spoon after every bite. You know you
- 22:57Speaker 3: we don't there's no beer, so no doubt dipping, no
- 23:01Speaker 3: beers or sodas or anything like that. Everything's got to
- 23:03Speaker 3: be water. There's no nothing added to it. No, no
- 23:07Speaker 3: cracker because again, as you said, you're not there to eat, Okay,
- 23:10Speaker 3: you can eat later, You're there to taste. And how
- 23:13Speaker 3: many did we have last year total, because we have
- 23:16Speaker 3: a different category.
- 23:16Speaker 15: Twenty two, and how we look at for this show
- 23:20Speaker 15: and I'm about to say number, but you know, like
- 23:23Speaker 15: one cook could be in all three cables.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Yeah, sure sure. And you have people coming from all
- 23:28Speaker 3: over for this thing because it's an internationally sanctioned event
- 23:31Speaker 3: and there'll be a lot of people from the Kana
- 23:32Speaker 3: Valley there, but there's gonna be people coming from from
- 23:35Speaker 3: far away to be there to enter there chili because it.
- 23:37Speaker 15: Is Ohio, Virginia, Maryland. They're all coming, they're coming. But Dave,
- 23:43Speaker 15: as we've been talking, yes, it is a chili cook off,
- 23:47Speaker 15: and that's the that's the mainstream things theme of the day.
- 23:52Speaker 15: But we got some other cool stuff going on. In fact,
- 23:55Speaker 15: we're going to have a professional wrestling match going on
- 23:59Speaker 15: from twelve until one on on twenty first Street. The
- 24:05Speaker 15: local wrestling folks are going to be buying for the chili,
- 24:11Speaker 15: the chili belt, We will be having that that'll be
- 24:15Speaker 15: going on right in front of the Nitro Antique Mall
- 24:18Speaker 15: on twenty first Street. And we also have a RC
- 24:22Speaker 15: car competition that will be taking place on twenty first Street,
- 24:26Speaker 15: and that's from the folks at the pit here in Nitro.
- 24:30Speaker 15: They will be having They were I saw them out
- 24:32Speaker 15: there on twenty first Street yesterday building the ramps and everything.
- 24:36Speaker 15: So a lot of things happening, a lot of fun
- 24:38Speaker 15: and just a good time to be had by all.
- 24:42Speaker 3: What if somebody says that they don't like chili? Okay,
- 24:45Speaker 3: at number one, they're godless communist. Okay, there's that. But
- 24:49Speaker 3: somebody says, I don't like chili, but are there other
- 24:52Speaker 3: other food items available there? I know the answer, but
- 24:54Speaker 3: go ahead.
- 24:56Speaker 15: Oh yeah, We've got a couple of food trucks that
- 24:58Speaker 15: will be on on site, coal Miner's daughter and uh
- 25:03Speaker 15: we have another group the Moonies and and and that's
- 25:08Speaker 15: uh Philly Steaks and Wings and American Water will be
- 25:13Speaker 15: having their uh truck down here giving away uh water
- 25:17Speaker 15: for people to cleanse their palace if the beer isn't
- 25:20Speaker 15: something that they want to do. But we've got the
- 25:24Speaker 15: beer truck right there, and uh just a fun time.
- 25:27Speaker 15: And we also had the Zoology Zone. You being from
- 25:30Speaker 15: Putnam County, you know exactly what I'm talking. Yeah, there
- 25:32Speaker 15: there there at Valley Park in Hurricane There in Long
- 25:37Speaker 15: Pay Valley Roads, Zoology Zone will be here. And I
- 25:42Speaker 15: tell you what, when we had him here for Boomtown Days,
- 25:46Speaker 15: I found my running partner, the turtle.
- 25:49Speaker 3: The turtle still faster than me.
- 25:51Speaker 15: He was still faster.
- 25:53Speaker 3: The gentleman that runs out. I've had him on the
- 25:55Speaker 3: show before and he just does a fantastic job with that,
- 25:58Speaker 3: and he brings some of his different animals out the
- 26:00Speaker 3: different events, you know, so on and so forth. I
- 26:02Speaker 3: just think it's I think it's great. And again, if
- 26:05Speaker 3: you want to come out and obviously, if you are
- 26:08Speaker 3: going to have the chili or get something from the
- 26:10Speaker 3: food trucks or whatever, you're going to pay for that.
- 26:11Speaker 3: But if you just want entertainment, you could come out
- 26:14Speaker 3: there and take in all this stuff.
- 26:17Speaker 10: For free, exactly.
- 26:20Speaker 15: And at the end of the day, if you are
- 26:22Speaker 15: tasting chili, remember you are donating to Hospice Care. And
- 26:27Speaker 15: then also if you're enjoying the other parts of the event,
- 26:31Speaker 15: you're donating to the West Virginia K nine Search and
- 26:34Speaker 15: Rescue and also the Putnam Animal Shelter, so it's a
- 26:37Speaker 15: good thing. One little bit of competition that's going on
- 26:41Speaker 15: is between the Nitro Fire Department and the Nitro Police Department.
- 26:44Speaker 15: The police department actually one last year breaking a three
- 26:48Speaker 15: year winning streak of the fire department, but they're going
- 26:52Speaker 15: at it again this year, so that'll be fun too.
- 26:55Speaker 3: If the people want to enter the chili competition, can
- 26:58Speaker 3: they still do that?
- 27:01Speaker 15: It's it's kind of getting down to the nitty gripe
- 27:05Speaker 15: in the events on Saturday. They can go online and
- 27:10Speaker 15: there's uh at the Wagging Tails and Nitro Ales UH site.
- 27:15Speaker 15: There's some information, but it's it's getting down to the
- 27:18Speaker 15: nitty right.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Yeah, completely understood. How does so explain how the ticketing works?
- 27:22Speaker 3: Somebody comes up, they bring the family and they want
- 27:24Speaker 3: to sample some chilies. How does the ticketing work for this?
- 27:28Speaker 15: They will go to the booth that is operated by
- 27:31Speaker 15: the volunteers and staff of the Hospice Care and you
- 27:35Speaker 15: will buy a bag I'm forgetting the cost of the
- 27:39Speaker 15: bag of bones, but you'll buy a bag of bones
- 27:43Speaker 15: and then you'll go around to each booth that's got
- 27:45Speaker 15: the uh, they're chili ready and everything, and you'll get
- 27:49Speaker 15: a taste of chili, and you can use the bones
- 27:52Speaker 15: that you purchased to vote for the chilies that you like.
- 27:55Speaker 15: And at the end of the day, we see who's
- 27:58Speaker 15: got the most bones and they win the people's choice.
- 28:01Speaker 3: And that's how it works. And you got vendors of
- 28:02Speaker 3: all kinds there. I know you had folks pedaling their
- 28:05Speaker 3: wares of all kinds. They're not just food related, all
- 28:08Speaker 3: other vendors as well. Give us the time and the
- 28:10Speaker 3: location of everything that's happened Saturday. Then I'll ask you
- 28:14Speaker 3: one other question about another event you got going on.
- 28:16Speaker 3: But give us the time and the place and everything
- 28:18Speaker 3: for Saturday.
- 28:20Speaker 15: Well, OK, we'll be going from twenty first Street to
- 28:24Speaker 15: nineteenth Street along Second Avenue. If you're coming, I recommend
- 28:29Speaker 15: going up nineteenth Street, maybe parking there and walking through,
- 28:33Speaker 15: or coming up twenty second Street and parking there. At
- 28:36Speaker 15: the time we get everything underway, Randy dammer And is
- 28:39Speaker 15: providing the entertainment again, and then he'll start at ten o'clock.
- 28:44Speaker 15: The chili tasting itself will start at eleven o'clock and
- 28:48Speaker 15: we'll go and we'll have the awards at four o'clock.
- 28:51Speaker 15: And it's right. If you Google or go to Google
- 28:55Speaker 15: Maps or whatever and put in Nitro Living Memorial Park,
- 28:59Speaker 15: it'll bring you right to us.
- 29:00Speaker 3: All right, I'll be there as soon as I get
- 29:01Speaker 3: downe eating biscuits and gravy or Capital Market. How's that
- 29:05Speaker 3: bring me in order? All right? Before we let you go, seriously,
- 29:09Speaker 3: next week's Veterans Day, and this is the city of
- 29:13Speaker 3: Nitro is a city that was born out of the military,
- 29:17Speaker 3: and we've talked about that extensively on the show in
- 29:19Speaker 3: the past. So what do you got going on next
- 29:21Speaker 3: week for veterans.
- 29:23Speaker 15: Well, on Monday, we will have our annual Veterans Day
- 29:27Speaker 15: Observation slash celebration and it will be occurring at five o'clock.
- 29:31Speaker 15: We always do it the day before Veterans Day because
- 29:34Speaker 15: throughout Canal Valley there are quite a few parades and
- 29:37Speaker 15: other celebrations, So we do ours on the tenth. And
- 29:40Speaker 15: you know, you say Nitro was born because of the military. Yes,
- 29:43Speaker 15: but everybody in Canal Value throughout always always our stand
- 29:49Speaker 15: up for the veterans, and we're happy to do that.
- 29:52Speaker 15: But on the tenth, starting at five o'clock, right at
- 29:55Speaker 15: the Nitro Veterans Memorial, the War Memorial right there First
- 30:00Speaker 15: Avenue and Banks Street at twenty first street. If you've
- 30:04Speaker 15: been through Nitro, you see the flag court of thirteen flags,
- 30:07Speaker 15: and right there we will have an observance and a celebration.
- 30:12Speaker 15: The keynote that starts at five o'clock. Keynote speaker this
- 30:15Speaker 15: year will be Ryan Kennedy. He is the Secretary of
- 30:19Speaker 15: Veterans Assistants Affairs for the State of West Virginia. He
- 30:23Speaker 15: will be our keynote speaker. But something really in addition
- 30:27Speaker 15: this year is we had a lifelong resident of Nitro
- 30:33Speaker 15: passed away recently and in her estate she gave forty
- 30:40Speaker 15: thousand dollars not only to the Nitro Public Library, but
- 30:43Speaker 15: forty thousand dollars. She willeds forty thousand dollars to the
- 30:48Speaker 15: Wounded Warrior Project. And we have a representative from the
- 30:51Speaker 15: Wounded Warrior Project will be with us for this event
- 30:56Speaker 15: and everything, the Celebration of Veterans State and we will
- 31:00Speaker 15: be presenting the Wounded Warriors Project forty thousand dollars. So
- 31:04Speaker 15: that'll be going on. We got so that's all right there,
- 31:09Speaker 15: starting at five o'clock on Monday weather. You know, you know,
- 31:13Speaker 15: we're not worried about it will be under a tent
- 31:16Speaker 15: and and that sort of thing. So come on out
- 31:19Speaker 15: and help us celebrate the veterans here in Nitrol.
- 31:22Speaker 3: All right, Joe, it's always a pleasure to talk to you,
- 31:24Speaker 3: and looking forward to seeing you and having some chili
- 31:27Speaker 3: on Saturday after I've had my biscuits and gravy. So yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 3: it's I did both. People say, how did you do both? Well,
- 31:33Speaker 3: you know you're not exactly chowing down on it, you know,
- 31:36Speaker 3: just like with mac and cheese last week. You're just
- 31:38Speaker 3: taking one bite and then when it's over then you
- 31:40Speaker 3: can you can go back and get your favorite. But
- 31:43Speaker 3: looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, my friend. Thanks
- 31:46Speaker 3: a lot.
- 31:48Speaker 15: You're quite welcome.
- 31:49Speaker 10: David.
- 31:49Speaker 15: One thing for sure, the Cowboys will not lose this.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Yes, that's right, we got to buy. I appreciate you
- 31:54Speaker 3: being here, Joe, Thanks a lot. All, thanks a lot, Joe.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Steve was from the city of Nitro. And while we're
- 31:59Speaker 3: talking real quick, before we go to break about veterans things,
- 32:02Speaker 3: I want to let you know something that we are
- 32:04Speaker 3: doing here, and you've heard me talking about Mayford to
- 32:06Speaker 3: promos on the air as well. You know, veterans have
- 32:11Speaker 3: really given so much and now we're going to ask
- 32:15Speaker 3: you to give back with words that matter. You can
- 32:18Speaker 3: call our text line. I know that sounds weird to
- 32:20Speaker 3: say call our text line, but hear me out here.
- 32:22Speaker 3: If you call our text line three zero four nine
- 32:25Speaker 3: three five five zero zero eight, you can record a
- 32:28Speaker 3: message of thanks for veterans that you love, and we're
- 32:31Speaker 3: going to be recording those. We'll be putting them all
- 32:33Speaker 3: together and sharing them on the air throughout the month
- 32:36Speaker 3: of November as part of our Salute to Veterans presented
- 32:38Speaker 3: by Toyota Motor Manufacturing of West Virginia. And you can
- 32:42Speaker 3: also submit your stories at wcchsnetwork dot com. It doesn't
- 32:47Speaker 3: necessarily have to be a long drawn out two or
- 32:50Speaker 3: three page thing, Okay. It could just be my dad
- 32:53Speaker 3: served at this particular time and I want to honor him,
- 32:58Speaker 3: my son, my daughter, whatever the case may be, whether
- 33:00Speaker 3: it's wartime, piece time, it doesn't matter. An all supporter
- 33:02Speaker 3: of veterans here and the folks at Toyota Motor Manufacturing
- 33:05Speaker 3: of West Virginia certainly do as well. So again, you

- 36:10Speaker 3: Thank you for having me on, Thank you for being here.
- 36:13Speaker 3: So a couple of things I wanted to actually, I
- 36:16Speaker 3: want to talk to you about. First of all, Democrats,
- 36:19Speaker 3: several of them and yourself included in some of these,
- 36:21Speaker 3: I think, have been having these kitchen table events throughout
- 36:28Speaker 3: throughout West Virginia throughout the study. Charleston Hunting and Gilbert
- 36:31Speaker 3: Flat will just name a few. Are there any more
- 36:34Speaker 3: of those scheduled or are you it's a tour over now.
- 36:36Speaker 17: The tour officially wrapped up, but we're going to have
- 36:38Speaker 17: a couple additional stops here in the next couple of months,
- 36:41Speaker 17: so we're in the planet phases for those.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Okay, all right, So what was your takeaway from all these?
- 36:47Speaker 3: It was it was excellent.
- 36:48Speaker 17: It was just our opportunity to get out in front
- 36:50Speaker 17: of West Virginians to hear what they have to say
- 36:54Speaker 17: and also, you know, give them our agenda and see
- 36:57Speaker 17: points of where we can collaborate, points of where we
- 36:59Speaker 17: are defeat in which we can add to what we
- 37:02Speaker 17: plan to do in the next session.
- 37:04Speaker 3: And I've talked to well, I'll give you a coup.
- 37:07Speaker 3: I'll talk to Amanda barroon who was the moderator, the
- 37:09Speaker 3: one in Charleston and Huntington, And she said, you wouldn't
- 37:11Speaker 3: think that some of the issues were the same. Some
- 37:14Speaker 3: of the issues were different in the different communities. And
- 37:16Speaker 3: I know when you went to these other areas, they
- 37:18Speaker 3: certainly were like when you went to Gilbert and places
- 37:20Speaker 3: like that. But there are a lot of similarities as well.
- 37:23Speaker 17: Yeah, it's a lot of similarities. People are, you know,
- 37:26Speaker 17: suffered from the same thing when we talk about education,
- 37:28Speaker 17: when we talk about childcare, when you talk about things
- 37:31Speaker 17: that's going on to SNAP. So you know, as much
- 37:34Speaker 17: as we are different in these different communities, you know
- 37:37Speaker 17: we are dealing with similar issues.
- 37:40Speaker 3: You mentioned SNAP, and I want to I'll just juve
- 37:42Speaker 3: down to that right now. With the partial government shutdown
- 37:45Speaker 3: going on, SNAP benefits and for many Americans sixteen percent
- 37:49Speaker 3: of the population in West Virginia on Saturday, and there's
- 37:54Speaker 3: been this back and forth. Okay, you know in the
- 37:56Speaker 3: state has stepped up, the guards involved and so on
- 37:58Speaker 3: and so forth. But the bottom line is there's still
- 38:00Speaker 3: some hungry people out there. And I think, and I
- 38:03Speaker 3: said this on midday yesterday, hollis it it goes to
- 38:07Speaker 3: show you a West Virginians and how we are because
- 38:10Speaker 3: we step up, you know, we step up without having
- 38:13Speaker 3: to be told, which like, okay, what what do we
- 38:15Speaker 3: got to do to help people? And we're doing We're
- 38:16Speaker 3: going to talk to a business owner if the next
- 38:18Speaker 3: segment is doing that exact same thing. But it's a
- 38:22Speaker 3: very unfortunate situation because of a dysfunction This is my
- 38:26Speaker 3: men talking, not yet because of a dysfunctional system in DC.
- 38:29Speaker 17: Well, I would did all that, you know, anytime. I
- 38:32Speaker 17: and again, you know what's going on as far as
- 38:35Speaker 17: the government shut down, they're trying to work it out.
- 38:37Speaker 17: You have different size of you know, advocating for different things,
- 38:40Speaker 17: but bottom line is that there should be no situation.
- 38:44Speaker 17: I don't care if it's a government shut down, if
- 38:46Speaker 17: the Dems caused it, the Republican causes where people have
- 38:49Speaker 17: to go hungry. Because I'm a person who lived experience.
- 38:52Speaker 17: I grew up on snap benefits. We used to call
- 38:54Speaker 17: them food stamps back in the day. And by the
- 38:57Speaker 17: twenty fifth, twenty sixth of the month, you know, you're
- 39:00Speaker 17: running out of food and you're stretching that last week
- 39:04Speaker 17: in order to you know, have your Snap benefits hit,
- 39:06Speaker 17: so you can you know, replenish your pantries. In addition
- 39:11Speaker 17: with that, when you talk about November being things, given
- 39:14Speaker 17: the holidays coming up, you know people are going to
- 39:16Speaker 17: be stretched thin. And when you talk about a state
- 39:20Speaker 17: like West Virginia in particularly, you mentioned sixteen percent of
- 39:22Speaker 17: the population and also twenty five percent of our population
- 39:25Speaker 17: is living in what was considered a food desert. So
- 39:28Speaker 17: to get that access to food is an additional cost
- 39:31Speaker 17: when some people have to travel up to forty five
- 39:33Speaker 17: minutes to go to a grocery store. And so when
- 39:36Speaker 17: you mix all these things in in addition to the
- 39:38Speaker 17: rising costs of everything, it just creates a bad situation
- 39:42Speaker 17: and we have to do what's necessarily in order to
- 39:44Speaker 17: feed our people. West Virginia House Dems we're calling on
- 39:47Speaker 17: the government, the governor to have a special session to
- 39:49Speaker 17: see how we can help fund those people who don't
- 39:52Speaker 17: have snap benefits this month.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Do you think there's a lot of support for the
- 39:56Speaker 3: governor to bring the legislature back in.
- 39:58Speaker 17: Well, I would help would be you know, I can't
- 40:00Speaker 17: speak for everybody, but I know on our side we're
- 40:02Speaker 17: definitely advocating for that because we have to do this.
- 40:05Speaker 17: This is you know in no circumstances when we talk
- 40:08Speaker 17: about food, shut the clothed, and healthcare, education, these are
- 40:11Speaker 17: no negotiables. This is things that you know, we're living
- 40:14Speaker 17: in the richest country in the world, that we should
- 40:17Speaker 17: be able to provide with no problem, regardless of whatever
- 40:19Speaker 17: else is going on.
- 40:20Speaker 3: Talking to a Delegate Hollist Lewis, Democrat, out of the
- 40:23Speaker 3: fifty seventh e Dave Island Show in five eighty Live
- 40:25Speaker 3: is brought to you in part by Bridge Valley Community

- 40:42Speaker 3: for details Bridge Valley, Your career starts here. All right,
- 40:45Speaker 3: So Tuesday, we're forty eight hours will actually less than that.
- 40:47Speaker 3: When the polls closed in a lot of these states,
- 40:50Speaker 3: and you know, Virginia, New York and so on and
- 40:53Speaker 3: so forth, and there were some surprises, but in some
- 40:57Speaker 3: cases not surprises. It was a good night for the Democrats.
- 41:00Speaker 17: Yeah, talking about that, I mean again, it was definitely
- 41:02Speaker 17: a good night, something that I think we needed. And
- 41:05Speaker 17: I think it's indicative of what people are, you know,
- 41:08Speaker 17: sort of the sentiments that are changing, Like we have
- 41:10Speaker 17: to have policies, We have to have leaders that are
- 41:13Speaker 17: going to truly put the American people first, not not
- 41:17Speaker 17: whatever agendas, not this corporation, not billionaires. It has to
- 41:21Speaker 17: be a people first agenda. And I think that's what
- 41:23Speaker 17: we saw the people go out and vote for.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I think the word that was bannered around a lot
- 41:28Speaker 3: we talked about the guys and talk and I did
- 41:30Speaker 3: was a simple word, delegate, and it was affordability. Yeah,
- 41:34Speaker 3: and that's what we saw. And look, you know some
- 41:37Speaker 3: of the states, somebody pointed out and they're correct and
- 41:41Speaker 3: doing this point. No, Well, you know, some of these
- 41:43Speaker 3: these were blue areas on the whole. You can say
- 41:46Speaker 3: some of these states were, but when you break it
- 41:48Speaker 3: down into the individual areas, some of the reddest areas,
- 41:53Speaker 3: some of the reddest counties, if you will, on Tuesday
- 41:56Speaker 3: went blue.
- 41:57Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 41:57Speaker 17: And the fact of the matter is just because you're
- 41:59Speaker 17: in a blue state or a blue area, that doesn't
- 42:01Speaker 17: mean that a Democrat is automatically gonna win.
- 42:03Speaker 15: Right.
- 42:03Speaker 17: We've seen New York City had record turnout, So people
- 42:07Speaker 17: are not only voting, but they're coming to the polls
- 42:10Speaker 17: with being intentional about how they vote. And just when
- 42:12Speaker 17: we talk about affordability, just going back to SNAP for
- 42:15Speaker 17: a second, what we got to realize is that sixty
- 42:17Speaker 17: percent of the people and this is a nationwide stat
- 42:20Speaker 17: that are on SNAP are working. And to maybe a
- 42:24Speaker 17: Republican's point, they may say, you may hear that and see, well,
- 42:27Speaker 17: why do they need Snap? But the question that you
- 42:30Speaker 17: have to ask is that why do they need Snap
- 42:33Speaker 17: in that the companies that they are working for they
- 42:35Speaker 17: cannot they don't pay them enough to be able to
- 42:37Speaker 17: afford food. Think about that. Think about a person working
- 42:41Speaker 17: forty hours a week doesn't have enough money at the
- 42:45Speaker 17: end of the month to not only play for rent
- 42:47Speaker 17: and living expenses, but to pay for food, and they
- 42:50Speaker 17: have to get government assistance to supplement that. So when
- 42:53Speaker 17: you talk about that affordability, I believe we have a
- 42:56Speaker 17: cultural problem and we have to re examine kind of
- 43:00Speaker 17: what we're doing and where we're at, because people shouldn't
- 43:02Speaker 17: be able to have to work three and four and
- 43:04Speaker 17: five jobs in order just to.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Live Deligan Hollis Lou It's always a pleasure to have

- 45:54Speaker 3: He joins us now, good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 45:57Speaker 15: Sir.
- 45:58Speaker 7: Hey, it's a pleasure having me here. I appreciate you
- 46:01Speaker 7: guys having me on this morning.
- 46:02Speaker 3: So what exactly are you doing with your place? It's
- 46:05Speaker 3: called Gaming Paradise and Cross Lanes. What are you doing
- 46:07Speaker 3: up there?
- 46:08Speaker 7: Yeah, so we have a food pantry I called a
- 46:10Speaker 7: food drive, but we're having a food pantry open at
- 46:13Speaker 7: our store every single day from eleven to seven. You
- 46:16Speaker 7: could donate or you can pick up any items that
- 46:19Speaker 7: you're needing. It's open every single day. We're just trying
- 46:22Speaker 7: to make sure that the community is being fed.
- 46:24Speaker 3: What kind of items are you looking for?
- 46:26Speaker 7: So we're looking for non perishable food items. We ask
- 46:29Speaker 7: that those are donated and not monetary cash because we're
- 46:34Speaker 7: already making multiple trips to the store, so it just
- 46:36Speaker 7: helps me out not make one more trip, so we
- 46:39Speaker 7: would appreciate non perishable food item.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Nonperishable just makes a lot easier again for you guys.
- 46:45Speaker 3: What's the response been like so far?
- 46:47Speaker 7: So we're helping out anywhere between one hundred to one
- 46:50Speaker 7: hundred and fifty families, it seems like a day. So
- 46:52Speaker 7: the response has been incredible. We've had a lot of
- 46:55Speaker 7: donations already pouring through, and then we're also filling up
- 46:59Speaker 7: a truck bed full of food every single day and
- 47:01Speaker 7: we're putting it out for donation as well. So we're
- 47:04Speaker 7: trying to do as much as we can to make
- 47:05Speaker 7: sure people eat.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Talking to Cory Shambler again from Gaming Paradise to Cross

- 49:08Speaker 3: the West Virginia government mandated in God, we trust science.
- 49:12Speaker 3: This is the water warming up in the boiling frog
- 49:15Speaker 3: metaphor next we'll be saying the government mandated prayer. Why
- 49:19Speaker 3: are the people of West Virginia in support of this
- 49:22Speaker 3: constitutional violation? Do West Virginias not abide by the constitution?
- 49:26Speaker 3: No hate for religion, just don't use the government to
- 49:31Speaker 3: impose your religious beliefs, says a Texter Texas. Originally because
- 49:37Speaker 3: of his tariffs, Trump said the poor kids can do
- 49:40Speaker 3: with three toys instead of twenty. But now the poor
- 49:42Speaker 3: kids that make do with one toy because the rest
- 49:44Speaker 3: of the money will go to food. God bless America,
- 49:46Speaker 3: says a texture tex says Dave, Florida.
- 49:49Speaker 15: Guy here.
- 49:50Speaker 3: There were no surprises in the election, more media hype
- 49:52Speaker 3: and fake news this time on the radio. Democrats won
- 49:55Speaker 3: in blue states as expected. No Republicans lost that we're
- 49:58Speaker 3: expected to win. It's real simple. It's not that simple,
- 50:01Speaker 3: because what I was talking about earlier is yes, indeed,
- 50:04Speaker 3: Democrats did win in Democrat in blue states. However, when
- 50:09Speaker 3: you break down the counties that they won, that is
- 50:12Speaker 3: to me what is very very interesting. It's the counties
- 50:17Speaker 3: in Virginia that Republicans lost votes said. That's that's what's interesting.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Do appreciate the text, though, texays Dave, I can see
- 50:28Speaker 3: sort of what this guy is saying. It's a reference
- 50:29Speaker 3: to Delegate Hollis Lewis. But I also have seen people
- 50:31Speaker 3: on snap waste and spend a lot of money on cigarettes, vacations, alcohol,
- 50:35Speaker 3: even a new car. Says in Texas. Well, there's going
- 50:38Speaker 3: to be fraud abuse in everything in life, and it's
- 50:42Speaker 3: just part of it. Unfortunately, Tex says, are they taking
- 50:46Speaker 3: baby and pet supplies also? I will that's I will
- 50:49Speaker 3: check on that for you up at up Gaming Paradise.
- 50:54Speaker 3: But I'm gonna say it probably wouldn't hurt you know.
- 50:56Speaker 3: I don't know Corey personally. First time I met him
- 50:58Speaker 3: was when I just interviewed him. But yeah, stop by,
- 51:01Speaker 3: drop it off. Tex says, a radical Islamic communists elected
- 51:05Speaker 3: mayor of the city that saw the majority of the
- 51:07Speaker 3: twenty nine hundred and seventy seven innocent people lost in
- 51:09Speaker 3: a matter of one hundred and two minutes a short
- 51:11Speaker 3: twenty four years ago. Notice the drastic change and his
- 51:14Speaker 3: demeanor from his creepy all smiles campaign into how loud,
- 51:17Speaker 3: angry and confrontational. This is the mayor of New York
- 51:20Speaker 3: they're talking about. His speech was on election night. So
- 51:24Speaker 3: much for our vow to those lost souls and their
- 51:26Speaker 3: families that we will never forget. Great job, New York.

- 51:41Speaker 22: got the Hope CEO. That's going to be a big
- 51:43Speaker 22: interview on that rate case settlement. I think they asked
- 51:45Speaker 22: for eighty one, got forty one.
- 51:47Speaker 3: I'll tell you my.
- 51:47Speaker 23: Experience in that industry, A good deal and everybody gets
- 51:51Speaker 23: screwed just a little bit. No, I'm serious, That's what
- 51:54Speaker 23: I was taught all that's a good deal. So we'll
- 51:57Speaker 23: see if everybody got screwed a little bit, and that
- 51:59Speaker 23: means it's a good deal. So we'll talk to him
- 52:01Speaker 23: about that. A Delegate John Williams from Montagelia County joins
- 52:05Speaker 23: us talk about funding stay put in one point one
- 52:07Speaker 23: million dollars for food banks. Should we have done more?
- 52:10Speaker 23: Okay upfront? Should we have allocated more? Is this a
- 52:14Speaker 23: reason with what we're going through to take a look
- 52:16Speaker 23: at that allocation.
