- 0:20Speaker 3: See see see see.
- 0:29Speaker 2: See see.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen. It's the Ron Edwards American Experienced talk
- 0:46Speaker 4: show where our unalienable rights are celebrated and now your
- 0:52Speaker 4: radio refreshment. Ron Edwards.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Hi, Welcome to the Royal Wands American Experience Faith Friday Edition.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm your guest host, Peter Cunningham. All the way across
- 1:34Speaker 1: that big puddle of water in the UK, and it
- 1:38Speaker 1: speaking of puddles of water, it's very wet as well
- 1:41Speaker 1: here in the UK, as you may well have seen.
- 1:43Speaker 1: How were beautiful friends over there in the USA. Well, anyway,
- 1:47Speaker 1: so Ron's not here, he's having a sabbatical or he's
- 1:51Speaker 1: out somewhere enjoying himself. And well, I've been asked to
- 1:54Speaker 1: step in in obviously it's a massive privilege. It's a
- 1:57Speaker 1: huge honor to sit in the chair for ROM. So
- 2:00Speaker 1: what are we going to talk about? Well, lots of
- 2:03Speaker 1: things really, particularly as we've entered this new year, and
- 2:07Speaker 1: i'd like to talk about the challenges ahead. I'd like
- 2:11Speaker 1: to talk about what's gone before us in twenty twenty four,
- 2:17Speaker 1: because as a believer and a follower of Jesus Christ,
- 2:21Speaker 1: we are exposed to challenges. We are exposed to obstacles.
- 2:25Speaker 1: We're exposed to the world. We're exposed to that nasty
- 2:31Speaker 1: little serpent hiding around every corner who's just waiting, waiting
- 2:36Speaker 1: to jump out at you and waiting to destroy everything
- 2:40Speaker 1: that we are. Well life, for one, don't want that
- 2:45Speaker 1: to happen, So, loved ones, we're going to talk about obstacles.
- 2:52Speaker 1: We're going to tell you a story. And then I've
- 2:54Speaker 1: got my wonderful niece here, Leanne, who I will introduce
- 2:57Speaker 1: shortly and she can tell you a bit about herself.
- 3:00Speaker 1: But he is the thing obstacles. What do we mean
- 3:05Speaker 1: by obstacles. Well, I was lean into a little bit
- 3:08Speaker 1: of a secret. My first ever job was a postman,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and well I didn't really last too long of that.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I wasn't very good, to be honest. But he is
- 3:18Speaker 1: the thing. Part of that job was we went on
- 3:22Speaker 1: a training course up into the the Late district in
- 3:26Speaker 1: the UK, which which some politicians called Cumbria, but was
- 3:31Speaker 1: just a late district and we had to take on challenges.
- 3:37Speaker 1: One of those challenges was outdoor purshoots, being in the
- 3:40Speaker 1: country's hot which is wonderful because I grew up in
- 3:42Speaker 1: the countryside. And one of the things was we had
- 3:46Speaker 1: to walk from point A to point B on a map. Well,
- 3:49Speaker 1: that's wonderful. Anyone can do that. However, he is the thing.
- 3:54Speaker 1: When we were dropped off, we weren't told where we were.
- 3:57Speaker 1: We had to use a map and identify where we
- 3:59Speaker 1: were and then walk to be Well that as difficult
- 4:05Speaker 1: as it sounds, as it well it is so on
- 4:09Speaker 1: that challenge, we worked out where we were, We decided
- 4:12Speaker 1: where we were, and we had to cross over a mountain,
- 4:18Speaker 1: the Old Man of Coniston as it's called, if you
- 4:20Speaker 1: wish to check that out, a beautiful place with every year.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And well, the cloud descended. It was literally literally vision
- 4:30Speaker 1: was a few feet if that. And I was tasked
- 4:35Speaker 1: to take this group, and well, I missed my turning.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I missed my turning. We had to turn back. And
- 4:43Speaker 1: when we found that turning and we finally got on
- 4:47Speaker 1: the right path, it was very narrow, still very cloudy,
- 4:53Speaker 1: still very cold, very damp, and well it was a
- 4:57Speaker 1: challenge in itself. So I changed everybody up together. I
- 5:01Speaker 1: roped us up, if you will, and that was marvelous.
- 5:07Speaker 1: But the thing was, I gotta admit, and I ted
- 5:11Speaker 1: to people. I was actually very upset that I missed
- 5:15Speaker 1: that turning. I was quite cross with myself. Everybody else, though,
- 5:21Speaker 1: was congratulating me. I wasn't particularly pleased. But therein life
- 5:27Speaker 1: is the challenge. It was an obstacle. I got around
- 5:31Speaker 1: that obstacle, and I was still still very much unhappy
- 5:37Speaker 1: that I've missed that turning. But he is the thing.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Despite all our best laid plans, despite your best efforts,
- 5:51Speaker 1: sometimes your life will not go perfectly. Now that can
- 5:58Speaker 1: be true for the plans when we making, not just
- 6:01Speaker 1: in our normal lives, but in our spiritual lives. If
- 6:05Speaker 1: only I could deal with this one obstacle in my life. Now,
- 6:11Speaker 1: he's a statement for you. I guess many of us
- 6:14Speaker 1: are held hostage by a particular sin that we keep committing,
- 6:19Speaker 1: or a particular way of behaving ourselves which we know
- 6:23Speaker 1: is wrong. What about a particular way of thinking that
- 6:28Speaker 1: we know to be ungodly no matter how hard we try,
- 6:33Speaker 1: That obstacle can seem too large. Now, before I bring
- 6:38Speaker 1: my knees in lean, I'd like you to consider if
- 6:43Speaker 1: you had a look at Joshua Free take an overview
- 6:48Speaker 1: of the Israelites spending forty years wandering around the desert.
- 6:53Speaker 1: If you've had a couple of days of nonsense and
- 6:56Speaker 1: you're already thinking I've had enough, Hey, I'm with your brothers,
- 6:59Speaker 1: the sisters, I am. But just consider forty years, forty
- 7:06Speaker 1: years wandering around the desert, and then they finally come
- 7:11Speaker 1: to this one last obstacle, this this huge water, the
- 7:17Speaker 1: River Jordan. They can't turn around, the Egyptians are there,
- 7:23Speaker 1: they can't go forward, the water's there. We all know
- 7:28Speaker 1: the story, we know what happened, and they got through
- 7:32Speaker 1: that obstacle. But He's the thing. When you're facing this
- 7:38Speaker 1: obstacle and you seem to be lost, Here's what I
- 7:44Speaker 1: learned on the old man of Coniston in the Lake District.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Lost is nothing more than a state of mind. There
- 7:53Speaker 1: is always a way around it. Now. When I took
- 7:57Speaker 1: this job as a postman, way back, many many years ago,
- 8:01Speaker 1: I was far far away from Christ. I knew of him,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I did not have a relationship with him. That's all
- 8:10Speaker 1: changed now. It changed twelve to thirteen years ago. But
- 8:15Speaker 1: I can tell you something I know way back then
- 8:21Speaker 1: and beyond those years, the Lord was still with me.
- 8:27Speaker 1: The only obstacle now is how we deal with said obstacle.
- 8:35Speaker 1: For me, get on my knees, pray, speak, speak to
- 8:39Speaker 1: the Father, speak to him. He always hears your voice.
- 8:45Speaker 1: And as I've reminded myself many times, he's never changed.
- 8:50Speaker 1: He doesn't change. He cannot change. So what changes in life? Well,
- 8:57Speaker 1: it s does, isn't it. We change? Our faith sometimes
- 9:02Speaker 1: takes a kickback. We can sometimes think enough is enough.
- 9:08Speaker 1: The Lord's doing nothing? Yes he is. He's always working,
- 9:11Speaker 1: He's always it's kind of afraid he's always up to something.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Are you asking miracles? We often speaking, but oh not
- 9:22Speaker 1: like they used to be. Hang on, the miracles are
- 9:24Speaker 1: not changing. Miracles and miracle it's never changed. Are we asking?
- 9:29Speaker 1: How we? Also? Again, I think many people miss this
- 9:32Speaker 1: one and again I'll come to this with you and
- 9:33Speaker 1: a minute, la. I think many people they fail to
- 9:38Speaker 1: thank him. You know, it's honorable, isn't it if you
- 9:43Speaker 1: do somewe to someone You Although we know we don't
- 9:46Speaker 1: look for gratuities, we often just just so. I thank
- 9:50Speaker 1: you would be night and acknowledgment. And I think it's
- 9:54Speaker 1: the same with our relationship with the Lord. So before
- 9:58Speaker 1: I wrap it on a little bit longer, I think
- 10:02Speaker 1: my niece is here, Leanne, and we're gonna have a
- 10:05Speaker 1: chat with her in a short time. We're gonna get
- 10:07Speaker 1: to see what she thinks about what we've just said,
- 10:11Speaker 1: and she'll introduce herself to a little bit about herself.
- 10:14Speaker 1: And well, it's gonna be a fantastic show today. And well,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I think we'll cut to a break soon and we'll
- 10:22Speaker 1: say hello again in a moment.
- 10:26Speaker 5: Murgatroyd, I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

- 13:07Speaker 1: Radio Ministries and you're listening to the Ron Edwards American Experience.
- 13:15Speaker 1: See grace, How sweet does sound? That's the rich.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Like I was.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Was lost but no.
- 13:38Speaker 4: I'm found? Was blind but no?
- 13:45Speaker 2: Why see.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Welcome back, welcome back, I was once lost. Yes, sounds
- 13:53Speaker 1: like me on the Old Man of Coniston, doesn't it.
- 13:55Speaker 1: But anyway, so yeah, overcoming hobstacles. Sat here with my
- 14:00Speaker 1: niece Leam.
- 14:02Speaker 8: Hello, everybody tells tell us a little.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Bit about yourself. What are you doing these days? See?
- 14:07Speaker 9: So I'm Leanne and I'm currently halfway through a one
- 14:12Speaker 9: year internship within our church and I'm training to be
- 14:16Speaker 9: a youth pastor.
- 14:18Speaker 1: You pastor. Awesome, it's intense, isn't it it is?
- 14:21Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 14:22Speaker 9: Yeah, we have one average between seventy about average about
- 14:27Speaker 9: seventy young people every week.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Yes, it's fun, cranky. Well you'll feel lost in though sometimes. Yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 1: So obviously this is Fay Friday edition of the Les
- 14:41Speaker 1: American Experience. And I thought it would be good as
- 14:45Speaker 1: we enter a new year to talk about maybe what
- 14:48Speaker 1: the previous year has been about. And and you know,
- 14:52Speaker 1: as Christians, we we we have obstacles. We have things
- 14:56Speaker 1: that are going to set us back. We have you know, things,
- 14:59Speaker 1: things go on in life and it's difficult. So I figured,
- 15:02Speaker 1: you know that little story I mentioned about being lost,
- 15:05Speaker 1: and I got a little bit upset because I missed
- 15:07Speaker 1: this turning. However, we got to her, but we're going.
- 15:10Speaker 1: People congratulated me, but inside I was still thinking, I'm
- 15:14Speaker 1: not happy because I got as lost. But it was
- 15:17Speaker 1: an obstacle we spoke about in Joshure about the Israelites
- 15:21Speaker 1: coming to the river Jordan, thinking, oh, the problem is
- 15:24Speaker 1: land and can't turn back. How how do you you know,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I'm aware of your comm my niece. I'm aware of
- 15:35Speaker 1: the obstacles you you've had over the past twelve months.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I'm aware of the training you're doing and where you
- 15:41Speaker 1: feel as other Lord's taking you. How do you? How
- 15:44Speaker 1: have you? How have you gotten through last year? First
- 15:47Speaker 1: of all, so.
- 15:49Speaker 9: Yeah, so right at the beginning, when I first heard
- 15:52Speaker 9: about this internship, it's called the Ministry Development Yeah, so
- 15:56Speaker 9: the md RYE. When I've first said about it, that's
- 16:00Speaker 9: goal for somebody else. And then I couldn't get it
- 16:04Speaker 9: on my head. I was literally raking up with MD
- 16:06Speaker 9: right in my head and I thought, well, I'll have
- 16:09Speaker 9: a look into it. And I looked into it, I'm like,
- 16:12Speaker 9: that's not for me, that's not my calling. And then
- 16:17Speaker 9: I couldn't get it out of my head again. I
- 16:19Speaker 9: kind of like join on, where God was chasing join on.
- 16:22Speaker 9: That's what it was like for me, where it was
- 16:24Speaker 9: just everywhere until the point where I thought, Okay, I
- 16:28Speaker 9: better reply.
- 16:30Speaker 8: So I prayed about it and prayed about it.
- 16:34Speaker 9: There was this one Sunday where the preacher at church
- 16:36Speaker 9: was talking about running away from your calling, and then
- 16:40Speaker 9: the recafter, your friend Ben Culbertson on the Tuesday was.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Talking and well known on this radio.
- 16:47Speaker 9: Yeah, well Ben was talking about the same thing about
- 16:52Speaker 9: God's calling.
- 16:53Speaker 8: And listening and doing it You're told basically.
- 16:55Speaker 9: So I applied for it and Ben prayed with me,
- 16:59Speaker 9: and I had to go through your kind of like
- 17:02Speaker 9: the panel interview, and I got chosen.
- 17:05Speaker 8: So I got onto it.
- 17:06Speaker 9: So Ever, Vicker Andy he trusted me enough and he
- 17:12Speaker 9: prayed about it as well, and yeah, I got onto
- 17:14Speaker 9: the program. It was very fairy, nerve wracking, but I
- 17:18Speaker 9: felt so good afterwards, and like now I feel like
- 17:21Speaker 9: I've grown so much in my faith in my own confidence.
- 17:25Speaker 9: And I'm still growing because I was telling you earlier
- 17:27Speaker 9: that I'm learning to write preaches like this year, I'm
- 17:31Speaker 9: getting like training with that how to write a preach,
- 17:34Speaker 9: how to lead youth sessions. So I'm still nervous and
- 17:37Speaker 9: I'm still praying about it. But yeah, that's where I
- 17:40Speaker 9: am at the moment.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Yeah, So during that process, what I remember, I remember
- 17:45Speaker 1: when I was, when I was first doing some training,
- 17:50Speaker 1: and I've always it's quite embarrassing to look back the
- 17:55Speaker 1: first the first exam. I'll use the phrase exam paper
- 17:58Speaker 1: because the only way I can just the first exam
- 18:00Speaker 1: paper I ever got, I got it wrong. Question one wrong,
- 18:04Speaker 1: That's what it was. And it was all because I
- 18:07Speaker 1: had I had misread the question. I understood the question,
- 18:13Speaker 1: so I'd done that. It's long essay, and obviously it
- 18:17Speaker 1: come back wrong, and I'm like, what how dare you?
- 18:21Speaker 1: But the lesson was immediate. I've not read the question correctly.
- 18:27Speaker 1: So that was my first obstacle of many on that journey.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Did have you so far encountered any obstacles? As you know,
- 18:36Speaker 1: we listen, we get things wrong. I mean you mentioned
- 18:39Speaker 1: you mentioned earlier about you know as as we speak
- 18:42Speaker 1: in to groups of people, if we deliver a sermon
- 18:45Speaker 1: or whatever we're doing. You know, there was there was
- 18:48Speaker 1: always a worry about you said, about you said saying
- 18:50Speaker 1: something wrong. I'm sorry to brush your bubble. That's going
- 18:54Speaker 1: to come. It's inevitable, it's going to happen. Yeah, well,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I who do you think you'd cope with that?
- 19:03Speaker 9: I think at the beginnings, off the moment, if I
- 19:06Speaker 9: say something wrong, I'd be quite embarrassed. I'd feel like
- 19:09Speaker 9: a bit of an idiot basically. But again, like I said,
- 19:12Speaker 9: people get things wrong all the time. It's an obstacle
- 19:15Speaker 9: behalf to overcome.
- 19:16Speaker 1: And you can cover yourself quite with that wonderful piece
- 19:19Speaker 1: of scripture that tells people to go away and test
- 19:22Speaker 1: the word for yourself. So when come when someone comes
- 19:26Speaker 1: back and say say you said this and you were wrong,
- 19:28Speaker 1: you can always turn around and say, god, I'm glad
- 19:31Speaker 1: you find that it was a test. Yeah, I've used
- 19:34Speaker 1: that one. Yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 9: Well, at the moment, like leading the youth sessions, I've
- 19:39Speaker 9: got the other team. We've got a team to fall
- 19:41Speaker 9: back on. I'm not there on my own, which is
- 19:43Speaker 9: really good, and I feel sometimes if you're taking that
- 19:46Speaker 9: journey by yourself. It can be cried daunting, but us
- 19:50Speaker 9: as Christians be actually not by ourselves anyway. We've got
- 19:52Speaker 9: God by our side, so he's just remembering.
- 19:55Speaker 8: You're not there on your own.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that's a massive, massive point actually, and again
- 20:01Speaker 1: I think it can be realized for about scripture that
- 20:04Speaker 1: whenever alone, the Lord tells us that whenever alone. So
- 20:08Speaker 1: that course is ongoing. We have now entered twenty twenty
- 20:12Speaker 1: five and we've got this new year to look forward to.
- 20:16Speaker 1: On a personal note, the start of the year has
- 20:19Speaker 1: not been very good for me, but nevertheless it's constantly
- 20:25Speaker 1: good to remind yourself that you know, as a believer
- 20:30Speaker 1: in the follower of Jesus christis a wonderful phrase I
- 20:32Speaker 1: like to use. We are going to encounter problems. It's
- 20:36Speaker 1: how you handle it. That's the problem. That's how you'll
- 20:39Speaker 1: get through things. Now, you know, some people, the people
- 20:42Speaker 1: pleep in the world, can curl up, they can hide
- 20:43Speaker 1: in a corner and they can just hope it goes away. Well,
- 20:47Speaker 1: we know that's not how things work. We're quite aware
- 20:50Speaker 1: as a Christian that when things start going wrong, and
- 20:54Speaker 1: they will, the first thing is to say, well, okay,
- 20:59Speaker 1: God over to you have some prayer time, spend some
- 21:02Speaker 1: time with the Lord in prayer. Tell him were problems,
- 21:06Speaker 1: tell him you know how how how you know how
- 21:10Speaker 1: we like things to go? Because again the difference always
- 21:14Speaker 1: is is my wants and my needs are two different things. Again,
- 21:19Speaker 1: it's scripturally based, you know, in what the war wants. Well,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I like a huge house. I've like a fleet of
- 21:26Speaker 1: you know, ferraris, and I've always fancied a C free corvette.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I've loved one of those. Maybe a helipad as well,
- 21:34Speaker 1: you know, maybe something like that, a helicopter that I
- 21:37Speaker 1: can pop in the helicopter to see to see how
- 21:39Speaker 1: we're good friends in the States. However, that that's not
- 21:43Speaker 1: what I need. Not realistic, it's not realistic. If I
- 21:46Speaker 1: had the money, it'd beautiful. And can the Lord do that,
- 21:50Speaker 1: yes he can. However, wants needs my needs? Well, I've
- 21:56Speaker 1: got a house, I've got a car oacter, and I've
- 21:59Speaker 1: got food and come and the kids are getting fed.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Are these things obstacles that are in that that potentially
- 22:07Speaker 1: could be in your way? Well? Yeah, because I want things.
- 22:11Speaker 1: The human nature to want these beautiful things. But we
- 22:15Speaker 1: missed the point. Don't we.
- 22:18Speaker 3: What you know?
- 22:21Speaker 1: You would lie and me it's like every every preacher
- 22:24Speaker 1: who says it's not about the numbers, stop kidding yourselves.
- 22:29Speaker 1: You know we do. We ask about numbers, and it's
- 22:32Speaker 1: not all about the numbers. I understand that. So for
- 22:36Speaker 1: you moving forward in the church you're in, which is
- 22:39Speaker 1: a marvelous church with a wonderful team. I have entered
- 22:44Speaker 1: this year. I have had obstacles thrown in my way immediately,
- 22:49Speaker 1: I mean cried first of January, had one. But how
- 22:55Speaker 1: do you But where do you think the Lord's calling you?
- 23:00Speaker 1: And can you can you see now? Do you think
- 23:03Speaker 1: the Lord's giving you some foresights about potential obstacles? Because
- 23:07Speaker 1: I think if we can see the obstacle, well we
- 23:11Speaker 1: can make plans, you know. And the Lord wants you
- 23:15Speaker 1: to think for yourself definitely. So can you see anything
- 23:20Speaker 1: potentially in your way that you just can steamroller over it?
- 23:24Speaker 9: For me this year, I believe the only obstacle is
- 23:27Speaker 9: my own self confidence and I do believe that that's
- 23:31Speaker 9: what it is, and it's something I've I stuggled with
- 23:34Speaker 9: last year at the start of this journey and even
- 23:37Speaker 9: now it's in my own head, and I know my
- 23:40Speaker 9: own Goliath is in my head and that's the only
- 23:43Speaker 9: thing holding me back.
- 23:45Speaker 8: So yeah, that's something I'm working on. It's my own self.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Well, we can come to that because I've got a
- 23:51Speaker 1: few things we can discuss about that. But before we
- 23:54Speaker 1: get there, and it's a wonderful chat we're having, it's
- 23:57Speaker 1: time to cut to a short break.

- 24:56Speaker 5: Many Christian conservative Americans are turning toward a parallel he
- 24:59Speaker 5: kN could it also be time to consider a parallel
- 25:02Speaker 5: walk with God? Hello, I'm Ron Edwards on today's pay
- 25:07Speaker 5: from the over Snowbook. Americans have begun to gradually spend
- 25:10Speaker 5: their hard earned dollars with US companies that not only
- 25:13Speaker 5: produce their products within the United States, but are also
- 25:17Speaker 5: not using their clout to help fund and promote the
- 25:20Speaker 5: Wok ideology, which is designed to literally destroy a republic
- 25:23Speaker 5: from within. Similarly, many Christian people of the Word are
- 25:27Speaker 5: seeking a parallel path away from the woke, professional and
- 25:30Speaker 5: misleading ministers and false prophets that represent more of a
- 25:34Speaker 5: lost cause that ends in oblivion, rather than teaching and
- 25:38Speaker 5: admonishing God's sovereign people to live righteously according to God's
- 25:42Speaker 5: actual principles plainly stated in his Living Word. Many people
- 25:46Speaker 5: of the Word are taking the time to read and
- 25:49Speaker 5: study God's Word for themselves and are now seeking that
- 25:52Speaker 5: straight and narrow path toward God and other true seekers
- 25:56Speaker 5: of God, thus forming a remnant that will have a
- 25:59Speaker 5: powerful impact on American society. I'm run at which word?

- 28:23Speaker 1: You there with me or not?
- 28:25Speaker 5: No, you never fly this.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Welcome back, Welcome back. Well, Leah is still here. She's
- 28:33Speaker 1: not run off or anything. So we mentioned previously about
- 28:40Speaker 1: about being alone. Yes, and that God's always with us.
- 28:44Speaker 1: You know, there's always a wonderful story to go with
- 28:49Speaker 1: that that I like to remind myself. And and it's
- 28:52Speaker 1: it's it's the one about about kids when you're kids,
- 28:55Speaker 1: and it's and it's thundering, its lightning, and it's all
- 28:57Speaker 1: going off outside, and you know, you often get in
- 29:01Speaker 1: bed with your parents and you feel safe. The thunder
- 29:06Speaker 1: and lightning is still going on. So is it the
- 29:09Speaker 1: fear of the thunder and lightning or is the fear
- 29:11Speaker 1: of being alone?
- 29:13Speaker 8: Definitely being alone.
- 29:14Speaker 1: It's a fear of being alone, isn't it? Because outside
- 29:17Speaker 1: doesn't change. And it's the same with our walk with
- 29:19Speaker 1: the Lord. Yes, whatever goes on around us as a
- 29:24Speaker 1: as a believer, we're not alone. We have the Lord
- 29:27Speaker 1: with us and all of these obstacles we've mentioned, all
- 29:30Speaker 1: of these things that have come to come against us,
- 29:33Speaker 1: we are never ever, ever alone. And that can give
- 29:37Speaker 1: you a massive inner peace. So as you're moving forward,
- 29:42Speaker 1: you're on this scary journey. You know, we don't have
- 29:45Speaker 1: a spirit of fear. We understand this, but it's still
- 29:49Speaker 1: you know, you're training to be a you pastor. Yes,
- 29:53Speaker 1: I know through my training that what is coming is
- 29:57Speaker 1: a massive responsibility. It's huge. I know. I know quite
- 30:03Speaker 1: often ron as we've conversed in the past, you know,
- 30:06Speaker 1: we have we have conversed about false teachers, false prophets,
- 30:09Speaker 1: and so on and so on and so forth, because
- 30:12Speaker 1: there's many, there's many. So he is a massive responsibility
- 30:16Speaker 1: or undertaking. And I'd just like to read something that
- 30:21Speaker 1: I wrote some time ago. I never thought I'd ever
- 30:24Speaker 1: use it, but I'd just like to read it for you.
- 30:26Speaker 1: And now now I'm going to start with Romans chapter one,
- 30:30Speaker 1: verse sixteen, and it's a familiar piece of scripture. For
- 30:34Speaker 1: I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is
- 30:37Speaker 1: the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes,
- 30:41Speaker 1: to the jew first and also the Greek. So men
- 30:45Speaker 1: and women are saved by the power of the Gospel. Yes,
- 30:50Speaker 1: he is the statement which I believe the Lord gave me. Oh,
- 30:55Speaker 1: I don't know, three years ago, and here it is.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Have reminded me of when we're conversing with wrong the
- 31:03Speaker 1: power is not in the preacher, but in the gospel
- 31:06Speaker 1: that he preaches. When the Gospel is preached, Christians are made.
- 31:12Speaker 1: When no gospel is preached, there are no Christians made.
- 31:17Speaker 8: That's very true.
- 31:18Speaker 1: One a bold statement to come out with, you know.
- 31:22Speaker 1: And I'd be quite surprised if some people who just
- 31:26Speaker 1: turned out and might be thinking, oh, how dairy that
- 31:31Speaker 1: young man in the UK. But he's true issue. You're
- 31:35Speaker 1: plessly if you're preaching rubbish from the pulpit, that helps nobody.
- 31:42Speaker 1: You preach the gospel, you know, I think, I mean
- 31:47Speaker 1: if we continue that, Romans one seventeen says this, for
- 31:52Speaker 1: in it, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith.
- 31:55Speaker 1: For faith, as it is written, the righteous shall live
- 31:58Speaker 1: by faith. And that leads straight off the back of that.
- 32:03Speaker 1: So immediately, immediately, we've got to be aware that what
- 32:09Speaker 1: we preach is important. You have to get it right.
- 32:14Speaker 1: And I know you're worried about it. Yeah, but we
- 32:17Speaker 1: need it does need to be right. It does, it
- 32:19Speaker 1: doesn't need to I'm not gonna lie. I've preached some
- 32:22Speaker 1: stuff from a pulpit and I've I've had tomatoes and
- 32:25Speaker 1: all sorts of rotten. I felt like I'm in the stocks.
- 32:30Speaker 1: But I stand by everything I said at that moment. Yeah,
- 32:33Speaker 1: and you know again, Scripture tells us go away and
- 32:35Speaker 1: check the word and you know, and people have come
- 32:37Speaker 1: to me and they've corrected me, and I've been humble
- 32:40Speaker 1: enough to take that on board.
- 32:41Speaker 9: I think you need to be because it's like, if
- 32:43Speaker 9: you don't try and then you don't get corrected, then
- 32:47Speaker 9: you don't learn and you need you do need that
- 32:50Speaker 9: feedback in order to grow.
- 32:52Speaker 8: So it's very very important.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and you know that the whole thing about
- 32:57Speaker 1: the Gospel in reality is is it's not that difficult. Really.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I mean we you know, as humans, we do tend
- 33:06Speaker 1: to make things out to be more difficult than they
- 33:11Speaker 1: are because it makes us feel clever, you know, and listen,
- 33:15Speaker 1: I oh man, I'm sure there's some bricks in this
- 33:19Speaker 1: house got a higher IQ than I have. But at
- 33:23Speaker 1: the end of the day, like you, and rightly so,
- 33:26Speaker 1: I answered the call. I took on the challenge. I'm
- 33:31Speaker 1: now living that call. You're embarking on that journey and
- 33:36Speaker 1: it's marvelous to see. And I will ask the question
- 33:40Speaker 1: and it's not about me, but I'm going to ask
- 33:43Speaker 1: it anyway as as as I mean, have you ever
- 33:48Speaker 1: sat there and thought, when I'm gone, if Pete can
- 33:50Speaker 1: do it?
- 33:56Speaker 9: But remember I'm also about theological colleges. Part of this
- 34:01Speaker 9: the course that I'm doing the internship, and we all
- 34:05Speaker 9: got told is on the first day, God equips the cold.
- 34:10Speaker 9: If you've been called, God's called you there for a
- 34:12Speaker 9: reason and and God will equip you for that journey.
- 34:16Speaker 9: So I know, I think he's just a bit of
- 34:18Speaker 9: imposter syndrome.
- 34:20Speaker 8: I know deep down God's called me on this journey.
- 34:23Speaker 8: God will help me.
- 34:25Speaker 9: When I'm getting up on that pulpit for the first time,
- 34:28Speaker 9: God will be there and God will put the words
- 34:30Speaker 9: in my mouth.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Of what to say. Yeah, yeah, I mean it was
- 34:32Speaker 1: there's that wonderful saying. Is it that God doesn't call
- 34:36Speaker 1: the equipse, he equips the cold.
- 34:37Speaker 8: Yeah, that's the one.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, then he is. He's a question you probably
- 34:42Speaker 1: weren't expecting, and it might just put you on the
- 34:44Speaker 1: spot because I'm also aware that, and I've met these people.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Will what's she on about the pulpit? Women shouldn't be
- 34:53Speaker 1: up there? Yeah, I mean, listen, it's up to the individual,
- 34:58Speaker 1: and I respect everyone's you know, if that's if that's
- 35:02Speaker 1: your opinion, I respect it wholeheartedly. I do, I really do.
- 35:07Speaker 1: And again, it's one of those scenarios personally, I don't
- 35:13Speaker 1: really have an issue with it. Yeah, I really don't.
- 35:16Speaker 1: I mean we can read throughout throughout the Bible how
- 35:19Speaker 1: important women have been. When Jesus was directed, who did
- 35:23Speaker 1: he appear to first a woman? And throughout scripture. I
- 35:29Speaker 1: mean there's a joke there that's somebody wants why do
- 35:32Speaker 1: you why why do you think Jesus first appear to
- 35:34Speaker 1: a woman when here res erected to get out because
- 35:38Speaker 1: he knew the music get out quicker.
- 35:42Speaker 3: You know.
- 35:42Speaker 1: It's just a bit of lighthearted fun but there, but
- 35:44Speaker 1: there we go. I mean, obviously you're doing it, yeah,
- 35:51Speaker 1: irrelevant of what what people may say and thing that's
- 35:54Speaker 1: up to them.
- 35:56Speaker 9: So growing up, I grew up in a church where
- 35:58Speaker 9: it was on men, you're very patriarch like I said
- 36:02Speaker 9: the younger same as you, very patriarchal church, and so
- 36:07Speaker 9: I had the same thing in my head.
- 36:09Speaker 8: So when I was getting called to this journey, I
- 36:11Speaker 8: was actually my mom, who's been on this show with
- 36:13Speaker 8: you before. She was like, it's a man's job. That's
- 36:19Speaker 8: a man's job.
- 36:20Speaker 9: So we actually looked through the Bible together, and my
- 36:23Speaker 9: mom she looked through and she did a little bit
- 36:25Speaker 9: of a teaching about it, but the importance of women
- 36:28Speaker 9: in the Bible, and that fully three sixted era point
- 36:31Speaker 9: of view, and we were like, okay, so yeah, women
- 36:35Speaker 9: are really important in the Bible.
- 36:37Speaker 1: They are. Yeah, I one of the best. I mean,
- 36:41Speaker 1: people who listen to this show Will Will Will know
- 36:44Speaker 1: be man from Heaven's Metal. Yeah, and I think I
- 36:49Speaker 1: think it's his niece. Actually, Missy. I've I've heard her preach,
- 36:54Speaker 1: I've heard some of her teachings, and she she is
- 36:58Speaker 1: a very remarkable young lady. She she really is. I
- 37:02Speaker 1: mean she's I mean, we we do, we do chat
- 37:05Speaker 1: when we chat together on social media. So on the
- 37:10Speaker 1: wisdom she has is just like whoa where did that
- 37:15Speaker 1: come from? You know? Why does the Lord not speak
- 37:17Speaker 1: to me like that? Well, we know he does just
- 37:21Speaker 1: half the time are we listening? But yeah, it's a
- 37:25Speaker 1: very it's very It's a good conversation to have. Really,
- 37:29Speaker 1: I think, I think with people the role of women
- 37:32Speaker 1: in the church. Women do have a role in church.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I know some people will say, well, yeah they do
- 37:36Speaker 1: when it's to cover their head and shut up and
- 37:38Speaker 1: all that. Because I've read one of Paul's letters, you know,
- 37:41Speaker 1: not not understanding that pause letters were subjective to something
- 37:45Speaker 1: he received previously, and so on and so forth. But
- 37:50Speaker 1: so this this, this, this this for you. You you
- 37:53Speaker 1: you had moving, I'm going to say, because I don't
- 37:56Speaker 1: think you've gone it anymore. I think the conversations we've
- 37:59Speaker 1: had i'd like to like to think of putt your
- 38:02Speaker 1: mind at ease.
- 38:03Speaker 11: Yeah, definitely, you know, with what we've just done this
- 38:05Speaker 11: past half hours, put your mind at ease.
- 38:08Speaker 8: Talking about things you're going through is really important.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Yeah, of course it's it's therapy, yes, it is.
- 38:15Speaker 8: Talking.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know, many many Christians do do suffer
- 38:20Speaker 1: when we've gone really off subject. Now I haven't when
- 38:22Speaker 1: she's marvelous. You know, many Christians do suffer with mental health,
- 38:27Speaker 1: you know. And and it's not a to be subject anymore. No, definitely,
- 38:32Speaker 1: it really isn't. I mean an episode of a couple
- 38:35Speaker 1: of years ago, is you know where I was. I
- 38:37Speaker 1: was on the verge of a complete or a breakdown again.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Through that done? What a good friend of ours mutually
- 38:44Speaker 1: ending up in a psychiatric world? Yeah he's through that.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Don Marvelous moved on. But talking talking, talking is good,
- 38:53Speaker 1: It's fantastic. It's good to get things off your chest. Yes,
- 38:58Speaker 1: and that's the point I think we're trying to.
- 39:00Speaker 8: Yeah, definitely very bad and.
- 39:02Speaker 1: You're you're on this journeys. As we approach the end
- 39:07Speaker 1: very soon, can I ask when will you have completed
- 39:11Speaker 1: this course?
- 39:12Speaker 9: We finished the course in the end of the beginning
- 39:15Speaker 9: of June, so like major in time, and then after
- 39:18Speaker 9: that it's where God leads me.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Do you think anyone in particular, do you think
- 39:24Speaker 1: you're going to continue with youth ministry or yeah, I think.
- 39:27Speaker 9: And definitely not been called into ministry youth ministry, so
- 39:31Speaker 9: I remember that as a youth pastor or chaplaincy.
- 39:35Speaker 1: In many ways, you've got it harder than a regular minister. Yeah,
- 39:39Speaker 1: you've got kids, You've got you. Yeah, so you've got
- 39:46Speaker 1: it more difficult than than they're a regular minister in
- 39:48Speaker 1: many ways.
- 39:49Speaker 9: Yeah, because we've got a lot of young people to
- 39:51Speaker 9: deal with. So we have a lot of mental health
- 39:53Speaker 9: to deal with as well. But on the other side
- 39:55Speaker 9: of that, we have a lot of young people come in.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Well, I'm wanting to hit on something as we come back,
- 40:00Speaker 1: because we're ready to just go on a shop break
- 40:02Speaker 1: in a moment and we'll be right back.

- 43:39Speaker 1: I'm your guest host, Peter Cunningham from the United Kingdom
- 43:44Speaker 1: of England, Land or somewhere in Blackpool or something like that.
- 43:48Speaker 1: And my guest is still heally aand so she's training
- 43:51Speaker 1: to be a youth minister, which is marvelous. We've spoke
- 43:54Speaker 1: about that, but one thing we haven't mentioned is your
- 43:59Speaker 1: train beforehand when you were at UNI. Yes, now, I
- 44:03Speaker 1: obviously don't. Have you found your previous training to be
- 44:07Speaker 1: useful in ministerial work.
- 44:10Speaker 8: Yeah, there's a lot of stuff come hand in hand.
- 44:13Speaker 9: So previously I've got a Bachelor of Honest degree in
- 44:16Speaker 9: wrecking with young people, so that's definitely you get taught
- 44:21Speaker 9: how to like the kind of like the important but
- 44:24Speaker 9: boring stuff like how to talk to them, like how
- 44:27Speaker 9: to listen.
- 44:29Speaker 8: More importantly, how to listen, like.
- 44:31Speaker 9: To very subtle clues and little pickups in the conversation,
- 44:35Speaker 9: little changes, which obviously is very important in youth rack
- 44:41Speaker 9: because there's a lot of safeguarden. There's a lot of
- 44:44Speaker 9: mental health. Yes, there's a lot of that side of it,
- 44:48Speaker 9: which has been really really important. But yeah, if young
- 44:52Speaker 9: people listening is very important.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean I've obviously I've got teenage children
- 44:57Speaker 1: and it's using one word answers.
- 44:59Speaker 8: Yeah, or or it might be a yeah, it's a
- 45:03Speaker 8: lot of noises.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like a cave man. Maybe you should do
- 45:10Speaker 1: a teenage dictionary and what the different.
- 45:13Speaker 8: You know what different grunts actually today saying a gen
- 45:18Speaker 8: Z dictionary.
- 45:19Speaker 11: Yeahlangors people gen Z gen I'm lost.
- 45:24Speaker 1: I'm completely lost all of that, I must admit. But
- 45:29Speaker 1: I know because there's there's a whole different program there
- 45:32Speaker 1: isn't but yeah, yeah, i'ms with that. So so your training,
- 45:38Speaker 1: which you said you complete, you complete an end of
- 45:40Speaker 1: May jish.
- 45:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that's cool. So when you've completed that, I'm sure
- 45:45Speaker 1: there's going to be other opportunities to to to be
- 45:49Speaker 1: a get Hey, we could even get you on as
- 45:51Speaker 1: a guest with Ron. Yeah that would be cool. Well,
- 45:53Speaker 1: that would be very interesting. But for the time being,
- 45:57Speaker 1: these obstacles we've mentioned, we've mentioned a few, and I'm
- 46:00Speaker 1: have gotten over him. How how do you perceive as
- 46:05Speaker 1: the body of Christ the church moving forward? I mean,
- 46:09Speaker 1: I'm not an ecumenical person. I think that's a touch
- 46:13Speaker 1: it's a touch too far that but I do like
- 46:16Speaker 1: to see churches working together, different different ministries working together.
- 46:21Speaker 1: You know, I'm I'm not ecumenical as such, but I'm
- 46:24Speaker 1: not into backgrounds. I'm not into banners. I'm not into
- 46:26Speaker 1: any of that. I just I suppose the best way
- 46:31Speaker 1: to describe it. When I die on this earth, you know,
- 46:35Speaker 1: before I get my promotion, if I'm buried, which I
- 46:39Speaker 1: don't want to be yet, I just want people to
- 46:43Speaker 1: look at people to what do you remember about Petz?
- 46:45Speaker 1: What are you well? There's a man I love Jesus.
- 46:49Speaker 1: I supposed for anything that'll do first and foremost before
- 46:55Speaker 1: we get there. I believe this this this year, the
- 47:00Speaker 1: Body of Christ needs to come together. It needs to
- 47:07Speaker 1: look at each other and think. But I don't agree
- 47:09Speaker 1: with how you interpret that. I don't agree with with
- 47:13Speaker 1: that particular brand of your religion. I think, I think
- 47:17Speaker 1: if we can just get over that and to coin
- 47:20Speaker 1: a phrase from one of our wonderful brothers, just grow up,
- 47:25Speaker 1: that that would be awesome. That is one obstacle. It's
- 47:28Speaker 1: the biggest obstacle I can see.
- 47:30Speaker 11: Yeah, for believers to get over. Yeah, Like we have
- 47:36Speaker 11: a like my brother, your uncle, he's been a guest
- 47:40Speaker 11: on this program before.
- 47:41Speaker 1: He is a practice in Roman Catholic. Yeah, there's a
- 47:45Speaker 1: lot we don't agree on. Yeah, but we don't fall left.
- 47:48Speaker 9: No, And that's the most important thing is no matter
- 47:53Speaker 9: what the church looks like, it doesn't matter what type
- 47:55Speaker 9: of songs to sing, what kind of sermons they do,
- 47:58Speaker 9: what if they have a band, don't already have an organ.
- 48:01Speaker 8: As long as it I'll be well reshiped in the
- 48:03Speaker 8: same God. And that's the most important thing.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, he is an analogy. Let's use I mean,
- 48:11Speaker 1: we'll use We'll use the football team and people in
- 48:14Speaker 1: the States will be a word of who Manchester United are. Right,
- 48:18Speaker 1: So Manchester United has fans from all over the world.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Now these fans do they describe themselves as well, I'm
- 48:27Speaker 1: a Manchester Manchester United fan. And someone else could say, well,
- 48:33Speaker 1: I'm a Oh, I don't know, but I'm I'm a
- 48:41Speaker 1: Los Angeles Manchester United fan. Yeah, and then someone would say, well,
- 48:46Speaker 1: I'm I'm a Brisbane Manchester United fan. They don't identify.
- 48:51Speaker 1: They say I'm a Manchester United fan. They were the
- 48:55Speaker 1: same colors, they watched the same team, they like the
- 48:59Speaker 1: same players. And I think it's a bit like that.
- 49:03Speaker 1: We have a faith isn't because we have well, I'm
- 49:07Speaker 1: a Baptist Christian, I'm a Methodist Christian, I'm a Catholic Christian,
- 49:11Speaker 1: I'm a Church of England Christian, and so on and
- 49:14Speaker 1: so forth, and and that baffles me because I use
- 49:20Speaker 1: the phrase I'm a believer and a follower of Jesus
- 49:22Speaker 1: Christ when I've been asked to explain myself and I
- 49:26Speaker 1: remember someone saying, oh, so you're not decided.
- 49:28Speaker 9: Yetminational, right, Jesus that's the most important thing.
- 49:37Speaker 1: And we're always going to have these different flavors, They're
- 49:40Speaker 1: not going to go away. And if we can just
- 49:45Speaker 1: get these differences to one side, you know, I mean,
- 49:48Speaker 1: I'm a word in the UK that there's a wonderful
- 49:50Speaker 1: group called Christians Unite and it's where Christians come together
- 49:54Speaker 1: from all different flavors, all different walks of life. And
- 49:57Speaker 1: he's never either brought up what particular and you are
- 50:00Speaker 1: if we can use that phrase for our faith and
- 50:04Speaker 1: what they do. They come together, they worship and then
- 50:07Speaker 1: there's then there's an open floor, and then there's some testimony,
- 50:11Speaker 1: and then there's a bit more worship, and then it's
- 50:13Speaker 1: then it's you know, then it basically the evening pans
- 50:17Speaker 1: out with with fellowship, all these people just talking and conversing,
- 50:23Speaker 1: and and of all that. I've been going to these
- 50:26Speaker 1: meetings for ten years and I've never in all them
- 50:30Speaker 1: years heard anybody say, well, what church do you go to?
- 50:33Speaker 8: What?
- 50:34Speaker 3: What?
- 50:34Speaker 1: What?
- 50:35Speaker 8: What?
- 50:35Speaker 1: Flavor of Christianity? I've never heard that.
- 50:39Speaker 11: It's just that one night a year when I witness that,
- 50:44Speaker 11: it makes me think, do you know what, Yeah, we
- 50:47Speaker 11: can move forward. Yeah we can, Yeah, definitely, because one
- 50:53Speaker 11: thing we've all got assurance of is that he's coming back.
- 50:58Speaker 1: We're gonna face I would judgments. And again that's another debate.
- 51:02Speaker 1: I've heard people say, well, as Christians, we're not going
- 51:04Speaker 1: to face judgment. Hey, listen, that's up to you, mate,
- 51:07Speaker 1: that's fine, And I just want to I just you
- 51:12Speaker 1: know that question is going to come. Yeah, what have
- 51:15Speaker 1: you done?
- 51:16Speaker 9: N I agree, yeah, And I think one thing that
- 51:21Speaker 9: you can say is you can be a Christian, but
- 51:22Speaker 9: you can still sin and like you can sing really
- 51:25Speaker 9: really badly and like you've got a murder somebody.
- 51:28Speaker 8: He's still a Christian. God's still going to judge.
- 51:31Speaker 9: If you've been a Christian doing all these good things.
- 51:34Speaker 9: That's he's still going to be judge. If you're sinning.
- 51:37Speaker 1: I've never seen any such thing as a sinometer since
- 51:41Speaker 1: a sin Yeah, there's no level, no level at all. Well,
- 51:46Speaker 1: our time is nearly up, I'm afraid, but before we go,
- 51:50Speaker 1: I would like to ask you if you'd like to
- 51:53Speaker 1: pray yes as we come to a close.
- 51:55Speaker 9: Yes, definitely. So, Lord Jesus, thank you for bringing fy
- 52:00Speaker 9: one here today. And if one is listening to this show, Lord,
- 52:04Speaker 9: they've been brought to this show for a reason, and
- 52:06Speaker 9: hopefully something that I've said or Pete said, we'll speak
- 52:09Speaker 9: to them.
- 52:10Speaker 8: Lord, And I also pray for the obstacles that.
- 52:14Speaker 9: Be all inevitably going to face this year. I pray
- 52:17Speaker 9: that you will be by our sign and we'll feel
- 52:19Speaker 9: your presence in the times of need.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Lord. Amen, Amen, thank you Leon for being our guest. Well,
- 52:27Speaker 1: I can see our time is now coming to a close.
- 52:30Speaker 1: So thank you for listening. It's been an honor and
- 52:32Speaker 1: a privilege to sit in for Ron Edwards and I
- 52:35Speaker 1: do pray you continue to listen and support these ministries
- 52:40Speaker 1: and just hold the whole of the church in prayer
- 52:44Speaker 1: globally and pray for the persecution of their wonderful brothers
- 52:48Speaker 1: and sisters just rebuke it in the Lord's name. So
- 52:53Speaker 1: thank you. I've been PC. May the Lord bless you.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Thank you and we'll talk soon to be you would be.
- 53:02Speaker 1: That's all, folks.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Tag a stage, rights, tad me.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Love another.
- 53:28Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Absolutely h
