Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello there, welcome back to Empower your Soul with Nicole.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I am here with a quickie to talk about oh, this is a big one things that are out of alignment, but this is for everybody, because how this keeps showing up for me is the feeling that something isn't right, and I know that's really really broad, but I keep getting this feeling over and over again and it's gone on throughout my entire life and it's just it's showing up more frequently and I'm hearing people mirror that back to me, you know, because everyone's a mirror, and I keep hearing other people talk about things that don't feel good, things that like don't make sense, things that feel like they're uphill, and to me it's just very clear that we as a collective everyone that's listening to this sometimes feels resistance in things and you think you're the broken one or you think you're the one that's wrong.
- 1:00Speaker 1: So an example is a coworker of mine.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Right now I'm working with her on a small contract.
- 1:06Speaker 1: She wants to go and start her own business doing what we do as part of the stage job and I freaking love it and she's amazing at it.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But she tries to look out to everybody else that is doing this similar work today in their own business and she just, every time she thinks about how to emulate them there's the key word pay attention to the word emulate Every time she looks and tries to emulate or like understand how other people are doing and how she can do it, it feels uncomfortable.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Can you feel that discomfort right now?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Like she, it feels uncomfortable.
- 1:43Speaker 1: She's like well, I can't do it this way Cause I don't agree with that value.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I want to do it this way, but that's a really hefty startup cost and I don't.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I, I don't want to go and like buy someone else's business and run it myself.
- 1:54Speaker 1: That doesn't make a lot of sense and I really want to do it this way, open up and do my business in this way, but no one else is doing it today.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So, like she has a natural resistance, knowing that she can't go down path A, she can't go down path B and path C feels the best, but she just doesn't know how to execute on it.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And I think this is a perfect example of resistance that you're going to feel in your life, regardless of what topic we're talking about, because I think you naturally feel resistance in certain areas and then not resistance in others, and it's okay.
- 2:38Speaker 1: The resistance is an indicator that something's out of alignment.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Even though you can't put your finger on it, even though, like, logically, those paths might make sense, you might be feeling internally that that's not the right path.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Or you like you start moving down that path and you actually face resistance and it pushes you back and it's not flow state and it's not.
- 2:59Speaker 1: But all of these are indicators that those things that have resistance tend to be out of alignment for you.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And it's not 100% right, because sometimes we resist because of our ego.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So I would challenge you to say where do you for you?
- 3:11Speaker 1: And it's not 100% right, because sometimes we resist because of our ego.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So I would challenge you to say where do you find resistance?
- 3:15Speaker 1: But it's not ego driven, it just feels like resistance, it feels like a misalignment, because that is the universe telling you that's not the path for you, but where you find joy, where you find passion, where you feel good about things and you like the what, but the how is the question.
- 3:33Speaker 1: That is something that is more alignment and you might feel resistance because you don't know how.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But I want you to take that out of the equation because it's more of what's the end goal, does the end goal bring you joy, happiness?
- 3:47Speaker 1: Does it ride your passion right, like, do you feel good about it?
- 3:52Speaker 1: And that is the sign that things are in alignment.
- 3:55Speaker 1: So I'm going to challenge you to say in your, in your life, where are you feeling just natural resistance, that is not from your ego perspective?
- 4:06Speaker 1: Are you feeling it at work?
- 4:08Speaker 1: Are you feeling it with like your, your, your job and like, are you in a job that you know you don't want to move up anywhere?
- 4:14Speaker 1: You don't think the company is aligned to who you are.
- 4:16Speaker 1: You don't really like the company, you don't really like your manager, you don't really like your um, what you do day in, day out.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You don't feel like what you're doing is providing the right value that you want to provide in your life.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that was me in the corporate world.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I had to quit, like, and I was like I don't know why I have to quit, because on paper this looks amazing, but it didn't feel right.
- 4:34Speaker 1: So I had to go and that led to a whole smorgasbord of other opportunities doing this work professionally right, which I love and I'm still doing right.
- 4:46Speaker 1: So again, the resistance.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Even though, logically, on paper it might not make sense that's an indicator that something's out of alignment and you really need to take a look.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Should you be doing it should be, you'd be going down that path.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And this isn't not telling you what to do here, right?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Not telling you that you know you being in a marriage you're unhappy with means means that you're out of alignment, you need to get divorced, but it just means, like, reassess it.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Does something need to change to bring back the joy, to bring back the passion, to bring back the, the passion right.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So so, where you're already ingrained in the an activity, a relationship, a career right, wherever you're feeling resistance and it's already actively in your life, I would assess are there different, better ways for you to bring it more into the joy, passion space by making small tweaks?
- 5:37Speaker 1: Or, no matter what you do, are you still going to hate it?
- 5:40Speaker 1: Because that means you need to, like shift direction entirely For new ventures or things you're thinking about, whether it's maybe like trying to find a hobby or um, opening up a new business or something like that.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Like follow the joy and the passion and notice where it just feels good, even if you don't know how, even if you don't know what you're doing, how you're going to be successful, how you're going to get the clients?
- 6:06Speaker 1: Does the idea of that bring you joy and light you up and excite you?
- 6:10Speaker 1: Because that's where you should be going.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And in my mind I keep getting the example of a client of mine that came to me very upset.
- 6:20Speaker 1: She's one of the many, I'm sure of you, that she was told she needed to go back into the office.
- 6:26Speaker 1: She lived an hour and a half away from the office.
- 6:28Speaker 1: She purposely went out, bought a farm, bought horses, lives in a very rural area because that's where her heart is happy.
- 6:36Speaker 1: And they were telling her she would have to commute to the city an hour and a half driving time not even with traffic each way, three, four days a week I can't remember what the number was which is, you know, it's better than pre COVID, I get it, but it still sucks Right In this new reality where we're at.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And she didn't want to do it and she came to me and she was really upset and I said just tell them no.
- 6:59Speaker 1: And she's like what?
- 7:00Speaker 1: And I was like what does your heart say?
- 7:02Speaker 1: And she says I don't want to go there.
- 7:03Speaker 1: And I said then you need to tell your boss, no, and tell your boss that like you need to act like you're a right.
- 7:10Speaker 1: This was advice specific to her, so I'm just going to caveat that.
- 7:13Speaker 1: But I gave her advice, specific to her, and she ended up taking that advice and following her passion and saying I don't want to come in, I'm perfectly capable remotely.
- 7:22Speaker 1: If you have a problem with it, I'll go.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And they said Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a second, nevermind, we can figure out an accommodation for you so that you can stay remote, right.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And so like this whole thing where she would have turned her life upside down, potentially quit her job, gone somewhere else, just because she didn't want to have the conversation, she assumed it was a line in the sand, she had to do it.
- 7:41Speaker 1: But instead I talked to her about being flexible, thinking about things differently, following her joy and the universe set her up for success because of that Right, because realistically, she still needs to be at that company.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But that's a whole other conversation.
- 7:57Speaker 1: The universe is telling me she needs to be in that conversation, that that, um, she needs to be in that role still, like they still need her there.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So, so obviously they were willing to be a little flexible, but this is what I'm talking about.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So follow the resistance, see if it's worthwhile, see if there's things you can do differently, change it.
- 8:11Speaker 1: And if you can't follow a new path, see what happens right.
- 8:14Speaker 1: But pay attention to the pockets of resistance.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Those are areas that are not meant for you and this is like big, loud and clear for you business people Pay attention to the pockets of resistance.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Something needs to change there.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I hope that helps.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Hope you enjoyed this little podcast quickie Wishing you all the best and hope you have a wonderful day.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Take care.
