- 24:22Well then, well, is this a woman you saw in the star
- 24:29this morning? Yeah? Yeah, I'm terribly You want to tell us about
- 24:37it? Now? I did it? I have no money, money for
- 24:52coin? Welcome back? Well. I think sometimes those writers wrote the title
- 25:19just to challenge people to tongue twisters. I would love to hear recording of
- 25:26anyone seen any of these three times fast, particularly this week's show. I
- 25:33know that we don't have credits on this particular episode, but the voice of
- 25:41Well sounded an awful lot like Bob Bailey to me. That could just be
- 25:47me, but that's how it sounds. And this one really just a pure
- 25:51man hunt case. The episodes that we are missing, I should note from
- 25:56from the last week's show, according to Digital Belly, all of April Castro
- 26:03Cops killing carnage case, the Cornered cop killer case, Nancy's nause eighteen naivety
- 26:08case, the Corny Complainant case, and the Big Boys British backbending case.
- 26:15And we have one more episode, I think, and then we should be
- 26:25into a stretch where we only have one lost episode all the way into December,
- 26:32though it does look like there may have been a couple preemptions along the
- 26:38way. We should have a situation where we run through about December nineteenth with
- 26:49all of the cases and then a couple scattered episodes heading end of nineteen fifty
- 26:56three to wrap things up. Okay, Well, on we go to listener
- 27:02comments and feedback. Robin rites him thanks for all you do. I've been
- 27:07listening to your podcast for a while now and felt it was time to contribute.
- 27:11Let me know what I have to do to pick out my gifts.
- 27:14Thank you, Take care, Robin Well, I didn't want to be clear.
- 27:18There are two ways you can do it some people. If you give
- 27:21to PayPal, you can fill out a comment. There's an option to put
- 27:26a comment and just put in what you want. If it's something simple like
- 27:30Berry Mason or Father Brown, and I'll just assume to send you the first
- 27:33Perry Mason or Father Brown. If you forget, or if you have a
- 27:38more complex way of putting your requests, then you just go to support Dog,
- 27:44Great Detectors dot net find the one you want, and then once you've
- 27:48donated, you just email me and say I'd like to I'd like such and
- 27:53such an extra and I'll go ahead and make it happen. So just email
- 27:57me Box thirteen at Great Detectors dot matt after you give the donation. Now
- 28:03I mentioned yesterday I talk about what some listeners have had to say about some
- 28:07of the new shows, some rejoicing about Novak for Hire. Joshua says,
- 28:14I think Pat Novak is still my favorite. And the lines of that show
- 28:17are so funny and odd. Debbie says, love Pat Novak, best lines
- 28:22ever, Good job at him. David says the Saint awesome, so he's
- 28:27excited about the Saint. Patrick says, love them all. Haven't heard of
- 28:32Easy Money, but I'm sure it's promising Patrick, Easy Money, I'll just
- 28:37go ahead and say it's kind of a bunco fraud series where a private detective
- 28:45basically is dedicated to exposing and breaking up various frauds and rackets and how he
- 28:53infiltrates and deals with him. It's just a fascinating study and I think very
- 28:57educational. It did over radio a very good job of explaining how a lot
- 29:03of frauds work, and so I think people are going to really enjoy that
- 29:08series. And there were a couple of listeners over when who talked about great
- 29:18voices of radio. Kind of a gone bube. I'm mentioning that we're going
- 29:22to be doing the Adventures of Pharaoh Marlowe. Sam says, while I love
- 29:26Bill Garkin and Barry Craig and Sydney Greenstreak is fantastic as near a wolf.
- 29:32Bob Bailey is the best at Johnny Dollar and Jack Webb is immortal in Dragon
- 29:36at Gerald Moore has perhaps the best voice in detectives and it's clearly my favorite.
- 29:41I've listened to every episode in the Philip Marlowe series at least three times.
- 29:45Can you think of a more distinctive detective actor? And John Bahner has
- 29:52my favorite dramatic voice in all of old time radio. Who's your favorite dramatic
- 29:56voice? We all know that mel Blank has the best voice in stage,
- 29:59screen, radio or television ever in my humble opinion, Sue says, will
- 30:03William Conrad also had a great voice. Another favorite of mine is Larry Haynes,
- 30:10who later starred in Search for Tomorrow at TV soap. So those comments
- 30:15from Sam and Sue, I have to admit the voice of Gerald Morris Philip
- 30:21Marlowe is perfect, you know, just put so much emotion, and I
- 30:29think you know, unless you've read the book, you know, given the
- 30:33a lot of people will associate more with marlow more than anyone else. He's
- 30:41he actually played the role of more episodes. The voice absolutely perfect for the
- 30:47role. It's it's tough to compare because across all genres, but I do
- 30:52really like I do like more in that I would and with Sue's edition of
- 30:59William Connor, and I think the list is complete of some of radio's great
- 31:03dramatic actors. Larry Haynes are mentioning that one surprised me, and maybe Haines
- 31:11might be underrated in my mind, just because he tended to get roles really
- 31:18towards the end of the Golden age of radio, when a lot of the
- 31:21star power had just gone out. We do hear him in Easy Money coming
- 31:26out this year. Also, we'll hear him in Mike in the Mike Hammer
- 31:32radio series. Uh, but these are very late in the Detective series.
- 31:37The one actor i'd add both comedy and drama, but primarily comedy for a
- 31:45great voice is Gail Gordon. He had great flexibility, great range. We're
- 31:49gonna hear him in the Case Book of Gregory Hood. But he was really
- 31:56known, you know, on the comedic side. He had this kind kind
- 32:00of slow burn thing he did, you know, it made him a great
- 32:05osgood Conklin. But he really just had so much talent and was able to
- 32:12play so many roles. He played heroes, he played villains, he played
- 32:15comedy, he played action. He is of course, as I said,
- 32:19he's best known as the voice of Osgood Conklin, but you know he was
- 32:29also Mayor La Trivia, and he was also mister Judson, the Texas oil
- 32:34man on The Burns and Allen Show, and Flash Gordon and of course Gregory
- 32:38Hood and so many other characters. Really a great deal of flexibility. So
- 32:45I put Gail Gordon in there, probably under comedy drama, and Larry Hayes
- 32:51will let listeners decide for them for themselves on that. Well, that will
- 32:54do it for today. Join us tomorrow for our final play It Again episode.
- 33:00This one is a treat listeners have been asking for for a while,
- 33:05and we give it to them. So be sure and listen, and we'll
- 33:09be back on Monday with yours truly Johnny Dollar, and then join us back
- 33:15here on Saturday for another episode of the lineup. In the meanwhile, I
