- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's going on, everybody? It
- 0:14Speaker 1: is Jeff Mosher and Adam Kaplan, and we are both
- 0:17Speaker 1: proud to say to all Inside the Birds fans, listeners,
- 0:20Speaker 1: NFL football fans, that today is Labor Day. Happy Labor
- 0:24Speaker 1: Day to everybody. But the best thing about yesterday, Sunday, is, Adam,
- 0:29Speaker 1: last Sunday with no NFL football for a long time.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Until the Sunday after the Super Bowl, and that's going
- 0:37Speaker 1: to be in February. It's a great time of the year,
- 0:39Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 0:39Speaker 2: It is. It is. The weather has changed already out east.
- 0:42Speaker 2: If you're in the Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware area, even
- 0:44Speaker 2: New York, you're in the low 70s. I was able
- 0:48Speaker 2: to play three hours of tennis Monday morning and not
- 0:51Speaker 2: even be a little tired, but not too tired because
- 0:54Speaker 2: it was 60 degrees at 630 a.m. So it was
- 0:58Speaker 2: one of the ladies complained about it. I don't know
- 0:59Speaker 2: what it is about ladies and all of my wife
- 1:02Speaker 2: likes the cold, but.
- 1:04Speaker 1: She must be the only one. Most of the women
- 1:06Speaker 1: in my life like it. They hate when I have
- 1:08Speaker 1: the fan on. They hate when I have the AC up.
- 1:10Speaker 1: They're always cold. Right.
- 1:13Speaker 2: My wife loves it cold. In fact, November, December, when
- 1:18Speaker 2: it's like 40 out, we'll let it get down to
- 1:21Speaker 2: like 58 or 60 degrees inside. I love that. We
- 1:24Speaker 2: both see it the same way. I'm like, I'm marrying
- 1:26Speaker 2: this woman.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I was going to say, you found a soulmate right there.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I know, man. And she's a bandwagon. Real quick, she's
- 1:32Speaker 2: a bandwagon Sixers fan. I took her to an 0-1
- 1:35Speaker 2: because she knows I was an obsessive Sixers fan. I
- 1:38Speaker 2: took her to so many Sixers games in 0-1. And
- 1:43Speaker 2: she was so into it. You know, she's from Greenwich, Connecticut.
- 1:46Speaker 2: She actually went to high school with Trey Wingo, believe
- 1:48Speaker 2: it or not.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, Greenwich High. But it is funny how people get
- 1:53Speaker 2: really interested. We'll turn this over to the Eagles. Look,
- 1:57Speaker 2: people who are old school fans and they were maybe
- 1:59Speaker 2: McNabb fans and they kind of Andy Reid era, they
- 2:03Speaker 2: had enough. I mean, if you've not gotten back into
- 2:07Speaker 2: the Eagles now, the way that they've changed things around
- 2:10Speaker 2: since 21, I don't know what you're looking for.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. The Eagles are just a great storyline
- 2:18Speaker 1: every year. This is going to be our episode where
- 2:20Speaker 1: we do, we've been teasing this, Adam and I are
- 2:23Speaker 1: going to give our bottom five NFL teams and then
- 2:26Speaker 1: our top ten NFL teams. So the five worst teams
- 2:29Speaker 1: in the NFL followed by the top ten in the NFL.
- 2:32Speaker 1: We did this last year. A lot of people liked it.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And we don't just list it. We kind of talk
- 2:35Speaker 1: it out. We see where our differences is, but it
- 2:38Speaker 1: also reminds you that it's that time of the year
- 2:40Speaker 1: where you're getting started. Plus we got college. We had
- 2:42Speaker 1: some exciting college football games over the weekend. You know,
- 2:45Speaker 1: my Penn state guys got off to a great start
- 2:48Speaker 1: in the Matt Campbell era, Matt Campbell, the former roommate
- 2:51Speaker 1: at Mount union of Nick Sirianni. Very interesting.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 1: So that was fun. You got playoff baseball.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Well, first you get September pennant chase, then October playoff baseball.
- 3:01Speaker 1: And we know red October is pretty crazy here in Philadelphia.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So it's just a great time of the year. But yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 1: football starts this week and you don't have to wait
- 3:10Speaker 1: until Sunday. You got Wednesday night Super Bowl rematch between
- 3:14Speaker 1: the Patriots and the Seahawks. And then followed by Thursday night,
- 3:17Speaker 1: you get your first international game in Australia between the
- 3:21Speaker 1: Rams and the 49ers. What a great matchup that is too. So,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and then we go right into Sunday sleep.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Being on Wednesday, I just, you know, I kind of
- 3:32Speaker 2: like it.
- 3:33Speaker 1: It's weird.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Last week, I love having a little bit of downtime
- 3:37Speaker 2: before the season started. It's kind of weird, but I
- 3:39Speaker 2: enjoyed it. Catch up on some stuff, errands and all
- 3:42Speaker 2: sorts of stuff, clean the damn house up. But being
- 3:46Speaker 2: on Wednesday, I don't know. It's just so weird. I
- 3:48Speaker 2: don't know how, I don't know where folks are at.
- 3:51Speaker 2: It's too weird for me.
- 3:52Speaker 1: It is strange. But nonetheless it gives us an opportunity
- 3:56Speaker 1: to promote what we got coming up on inside the
- 3:58Speaker 1: birds this week and this year i should say a
- 4:01Speaker 1: lot of our programming is that people love is going
- 4:04Speaker 1: to be back we're going to have inside the tape
- 4:06Speaker 1: twice a week offense defense with greg cosell uh we
- 4:09Speaker 1: are expecting to have birds weekly back now it's not
- 4:11Speaker 1: going to be gunner and ray didinger i don't i
- 4:13Speaker 1: know this is already known so i'll say ray has
- 4:16Speaker 1: been doing these like world tours since the uh the
- 4:19Speaker 1: end of last year he's been doing all these uh
- 4:22Speaker 1: traveling with and good for him i mean he deserves
- 4:24Speaker 1: it he and his wife and great family so um
- 4:26Speaker 1: we are expecting to have birds weekly back with gunner
- 4:29Speaker 1: and and i guess we're just still working out the
- 4:31Speaker 1: final uh uh details of that we will have what
- 4:36Speaker 1: else do we have oh um we're working on our
- 4:38Speaker 1: own show last year we did a show in conjunction
- 4:41Speaker 1: with wbcb where it was like uh just a you
- 4:45Speaker 1: know a great intel based tuesday type show we're still
- 4:49Speaker 1: working on something of that just on our own independently.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Inside the data with Sam Finkel, we're going to have
- 4:55Speaker 1: two of those per week, recapping one game, previewing the
- 4:59Speaker 1: next from a data and metric standpoint. The Checo Daily
- 5:02Speaker 1: will continue to have his daily podcasts. We will have
- 5:05Speaker 1: our pregame show as usual. We always try to drop
- 5:08Speaker 1: that as early as possible, Friday night, sometimes Saturday morning.
- 5:12Speaker 1: That's myself, Adam, and Greg Cosell. So we are ready
- 5:16Speaker 1: to go full steam ahead with almost everything All the
- 5:19Speaker 1: content we've had, plus a little bit more. You're getting
- 5:21Speaker 1: a little bit extra.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And with Patreon members, level three, Greg Cosell all year.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yep.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Greg loves it. He always says, he goes, he pretty
- 5:30Speaker 2: much said the smartest fans are with him. If you're
- 5:33Speaker 2: an Eagles fan. And he goes, keep asking. And what
- 5:37Speaker 2: he says is, because they find some interesting things he
- 5:40Speaker 2: had not thought about. He goes, this is great. It
- 5:42Speaker 2: makes me think a little bit deeper. And he loves
- 5:44Speaker 2: educating people. So, patreon.com slash Inside the Birds. And I'm
- 5:49Speaker 2: on Wednesday, Wednesday nights with our level two and level
- 5:52Speaker 2: three people, which is what we have now. And lots
- 5:55Speaker 2: of surprises coming there. So, yeah, it's going to be
- 5:57Speaker 2: a great season. Looking forward to it.
- 5:58Speaker 1: That's right.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 1: If you do for those new listeners, we have a
- 6:02Speaker 1: show called Ask Greg Cosell that we do every week
- 6:04Speaker 1: during the NFL season. You get to go inside into
- 6:08Speaker 1: a live stream chat with Greg and personally ask him
- 6:11Speaker 1: your Eagles or NFL tape related questions. He answers all
- 6:15Speaker 1: of them in great detail. So it's one of our
- 6:18Speaker 1: most exciting features, along with ad-free podcasts. Early ad-free. Every
- 6:25Speaker 1: show we do, recorded show on Inside the Birds, we
- 6:28Speaker 1: put on our Patreon channel first with no ads. So
- 6:33Speaker 1: if you love listening to Inside the Birds, but you
- 6:35Speaker 1: hate ads and you can't hit that fast-forward button, it's
- 6:38Speaker 1: either a $ 12 or a $ 15 membership. The $ 15 one
- 6:41Speaker 1: has the Greg Cosell, Ask Greg Cosell. $ 12 one has
- 6:44Speaker 1: almost everything else. It is absolutely worth it. People who
- 6:47Speaker 1: are on our Patreon channel say it's the best money
- 6:50Speaker 1: they've ever spent. We give bonus content. We do Ask
- 6:52Speaker 1: ITB live streams where we answer your questions. It's usually
- 6:56Speaker 1: Adam answers your questions personally in a live stream chat.
- 6:59Speaker 1: We're going to have DiCecco do a few of those
- 7:01Speaker 1: this year. We're going to get Sam Finkel. We're going
- 7:03Speaker 1: to get more ITB family involved in these Ask ITB
- 7:06Speaker 1: live streams.
- 7:07Speaker 2: And one more thing. We do some surprises, unadvertised surprises.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I can't give it away.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Of maybe some people who are... you would recognize who
- 7:16Speaker 2: played football in the national football league. Yep. John D Filippo,
- 7:20Speaker 2: the Superbowl winning Eagles quarterback coach. John was with us
- 7:24Speaker 2: a lot in 23. In fact, I think he was
- 7:26Speaker 2: one like four or five times with our patron members.
- 7:28Speaker 1: At least. Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 2: They love him. John is with Kansas. I got to
- 7:31Speaker 2: ask him about this quarterback. The KU quarterback is now
- 7:34Speaker 2: the backup, the bucks. I'm like, where did this come from? Yep.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Do you remember his name? Offhand? I don't know.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I don't remember. Um, but, uh, Yeah, so looking forward
- 7:46Speaker 2: to it. The season is here, folks. And then, look,
- 7:51Speaker 2: we'll see what happens with this Eagles team. We're going
- 7:53Speaker 2: to get into that today and this week. By the way,
- 7:58Speaker 2: are we doing a show where we predict the record
- 8:00Speaker 2: and all that stuff?
- 8:02Speaker 1: We can do that at the end of this show
- 8:03Speaker 1: if you want to do it. So this is our
- 8:06Speaker 1: annual bottom five, top ten show, as I mentioned. And
- 8:08Speaker 1: at the end, we'll give our predictions for the Eagles, okay? Okay.
- 8:11Speaker 1: All right, let's start it off. What we're going to
- 8:13Speaker 1: do is give you the five teams Adam and I
- 8:15Speaker 1: think are the worst. Now we have our own list.
- 8:17Speaker 1: We'll compare and contrast. We'll start not with the worst.
- 8:21Speaker 1: We're going to work our way to the worst because
- 8:23Speaker 1: Adam and I have already joked, as we've teased this before,
- 8:25Speaker 1: it's pretty clear on paper who the worst team in
- 8:28Speaker 1: the NFL should be. So we'll go from 28, 29, 30, 31,
- 8:30Speaker 1: and then 32. You know what's interesting on that?
- 8:36Speaker 2: And it's really true. Most years, the bottom five teams
- 8:39Speaker 2: almost always have a quarterback problem. Yes. So I'm looking
- 8:42Speaker 2: at my list. Now, one, they've addressed it. We'll see
- 8:45Speaker 2: if it's right. But it's just when you don't have
- 8:49Speaker 2: stability quarterback, you're going to be on this list. That's
- 8:51Speaker 2: not a good list.
- 8:52Speaker 1: This team you're teasing that may have addressed its issues,
- 8:55Speaker 1: do they happen to wear colors of silver and black?
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yes, but I don't have them as the worst team.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Oh, I don't have them either. So good. This is
- 9:02Speaker 1: a good starting point. Yes, yes. Who is the fifth?
- 9:05Speaker 1: Let's go from fifth worst to worst. So who is
- 9:08Speaker 1: the 28th worst team in the NFL in your book?
- 9:12Speaker 2: Here's the thing. This team actually has a decent roster,
- 9:15Speaker 2: but they're so bad at quarterback. And I don't like
- 9:18Speaker 2: their decisions that they made. I just don't agree with
- 9:21Speaker 2: the thought process. But I'm going to start with the
- 9:24Speaker 2: Browns here, team number 28. They're going to have five
- 9:28Speaker 2: new offensive line starters, brand new coaching staff. Andrew Barry,
- 9:33Speaker 2: who prior to the 25 draft, I mean, you couldn't
- 9:35Speaker 2: make a case for him to come back. He wasn't
- 9:37Speaker 2: doing very well, obviously. maybe the worst transaction in NFL
- 9:41Speaker 2: history with the Sean Watson trade, but 25, he had
- 9:44Speaker 2: a great draft, probably saved his job, but he is
- 9:48Speaker 2: butchered quarterback. And for the life of me, they're going
- 9:52Speaker 2: to have two first round picks next year. Why not
- 9:54Speaker 2: at least get a look at Shador Sanders? Okay. What, what,
- 9:58Speaker 2: what is Deshaun Watson going to do for you? I
- 10:01Speaker 2: know you owe him. I understand five years and 240 million.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I get that. It doesn't matter. He's not good. He's
- 10:08Speaker 2: not taking you anywhere. It's just, it's just, there's a
- 10:11Speaker 2: reason why historically they've been in an inept franchise. It's
- 10:15Speaker 2: just embarrassing.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Yep.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Greg Cosell is the best example. Greg doesn't do
- 10:19Speaker 2: draft grades. I asked him before and after draft. I said,
- 10:22Speaker 2: what are your thoughts on him? And I know you
- 10:25Speaker 2: don't do draft grades. What are you thinking? And then
- 10:26Speaker 2: he said to me, he goes, I don't see how
- 10:27Speaker 2: he doesn't go and pass a third round. Pocket passer,
- 10:31Speaker 2: good touch. You don't have a great arm, decent arm.
- 10:34Speaker 2: He'll scramble. He doesn't really run, but processes pretty well.
- 10:37Speaker 2: And then, you know, he had the maturity problem, very
- 10:39Speaker 2: well documented, had him drop. But at this point and
- 10:44Speaker 2: talking to people close to the Browns, he's, he's, Done
- 10:47Speaker 2: everything right this offseason. Okay. You could say Deshaun beat
- 10:49Speaker 2: him out. But what does it mean? It doesn't matter.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Where are you going? Nowhere. Start the kid. Let him play.
- 10:56Speaker 2: And by the way, if he looks really bad after
- 10:59Speaker 2: four weeks, pull him. Go with Watson. It's backward thinking.
- 11:04Speaker 2: They got no shot.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'm with you. I actually think that you're being kind
- 11:09Speaker 1: to the Browns by saying they're only the fifth worst
- 11:12Speaker 1: team in the NFL. Because I have them on my.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I have them on my bottom five, but I actually
- 11:16Speaker 1: have them worse than that. So I agree with you.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I do think that– I like their coach, obviously, Cutter.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Maybe his hand is being forced by ownership to go
- 11:29Speaker 1: ahead with Deshaun Watson because of the money. I don't know.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Todd Monken. Todd Monken.
- 11:33Speaker 1: What did I say?
- 11:34Speaker 2: Cutter. Dirk Cutter.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Did I say Dirk Cutter?
- 11:37Speaker 2: By the way, I've done that before.
- 11:38Speaker 1: It's been a long weekend, brother.
- 11:39Speaker 2: No, but what it is is Cutter coached– He coached Tampa.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 2: No, but he coached in college. He was a college coach.
- 11:48Speaker 1: He was at Georgia, right? Right.
- 11:50Speaker 2: But he also was a head coach. Didn't go great.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, yeah. I think it was at Boise.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yes, that was it.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I think he was Quentin Michaels coach there. But yeah.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Oh, wow. Yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Wow. Okay.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Okay. Look, Monkin, good for Todd Monkin. It really should
- 12:06Speaker 2: have been Jim Schwartz. But that's a 30 for 30 short. Schwartz,
- 12:10Speaker 2: you thought he was getting it. They didn't go with him.
- 12:13Speaker 2: They want an offensive coach, but they've got, by the way,
- 12:16Speaker 2: they've got a very interesting Mike Rutenberg, who's coaching Robert Salas,
- 12:21Speaker 2: so they're going to run the wide nine. The talent
- 12:24Speaker 2: level in defense is fine. It's not the problem. Right.
- 12:27Speaker 2: And Jared Vers, obviously the big trade, Vers is a
- 12:30Speaker 2: big-time player. It's, man, it's just the offensive line, five
- 12:35Speaker 2: new starters.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Concepcion... The question with him, is he a slot receiver?
- 12:43Speaker 2: Can he play outside? Denzel Boston, big body, doesn't run
- 12:47Speaker 2: all that well. And now Judkins is their full-time starting
- 12:51Speaker 2: running back. There's enough. If they had a quality quarterback,
- 12:55Speaker 2: it's an eight or nine win team. Yeah. Watson has
- 12:57Speaker 2: not played good football in six years. Six years.
- 13:00Speaker 1: 2020. It has.
- 13:01Speaker 2: So there you go.
- 13:04Speaker 1: All right. So I had to debate the 28th worst
- 13:07Speaker 1: team between two teams.
- 13:09Speaker 2: One was.
- 13:10Speaker 1: The Raiders, one was the Titans. I really had trouble
- 13:14Speaker 1: with this. The Raiders, you could have made an argument
- 13:16Speaker 1: by the end of last year. They were the worst
- 13:19Speaker 1: team in the NFL. I love what they've done in
- 13:21Speaker 1: the offseason in terms of their coaching staff. Obviously, I'm
- 13:25Speaker 1: a big Clint Kubiak fan. He did a great job
- 13:27Speaker 1: as the OC of the Seahawks. I love the fact
- 13:31Speaker 1: that they were not afraid to pay Tyler Lindemann, a
- 13:34Speaker 1: good player, all that money to play center because they
- 13:36Speaker 1: needed offensive line hope. They get Colton Miller back. I
- 13:41Speaker 1: don't understand the charade with Kirk cousins, but I guess
- 13:43Speaker 1: they want to give Fernando Mendoza some time. Gentee should
- 13:46Speaker 1: have a better year. So the reason why they're not
- 13:49Speaker 1: top three worst team is because I think they've made
- 13:51Speaker 1: some nice off season additions. I think that they will
- 13:54Speaker 1: reap the benefits of having Kubiak as a head coach,
- 13:56Speaker 1: why I put them as 28th and not the Titans,
- 14:01Speaker 1: you know, Sal and Dable to me, even though they
- 14:04Speaker 1: don't have a ton of talent there, I think we'll
- 14:06Speaker 1: maximize it. They've got to, blue chip player like Jeffrey Simmons,
- 14:10Speaker 1: who's an excellent tackle. They made some good offseason additions
- 14:14Speaker 1: of guys that they're comfortable with. You know, obviously, Wanda
- 14:16Speaker 1: Robinson and Bellinger, they played for for Dable. Somebody made
- 14:19Speaker 1: a joke that the Titans are basically like a combination
- 14:22Speaker 1: of the Jets and Giants, which is not a way
- 14:24Speaker 1: to build a team. I get it. That is funny.
- 14:26Speaker 1: But it was the Raiders for me that was going
- 14:30Speaker 1: to be that has a little bit. More to go.
- 14:32Speaker 1: They're going to play in a really, really tough conference.
- 14:35Speaker 1: So it'll be some tough sledding this year. They've got
- 14:37Speaker 1: better days ahead, but they're on my fifth worst team.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yeah, they're in a tough division. I mean, they're going
- 14:42Speaker 2: to have problems getting any wins. Receivers are not very good.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Hampton is way more explosive. Gentee, you worry about the
- 14:52Speaker 2: running style. He takes way too much contact. If you're
- 14:56Speaker 2: into fantasy, get Mike Washington, the rookie, the fourth rounder
- 14:59Speaker 2: who's had a good Good training camp. Dylan Lobby, I like.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I met Dylan at the Senior Bowl a couple years ago.
- 15:04Speaker 2: He's got great versatility. They've got problems with the back
- 15:08Speaker 2: end of the defense. Not very talented. Not a very
- 15:11Speaker 2: talented corner at all. That's a problem. But they've got
- 15:13Speaker 2: Crosby for now. That's a big deal. They spent a
- 15:17Speaker 2: linebacker with Walker and especially N'Kobe Dean. Yeah, you're right.
- 15:20Speaker 2: They upgraded the talent. It's a 5-1 team on paper.
- 15:23Speaker 2: And they don't want to rush their first pick overall quarterback, Mendoza.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I get it. And Cousins is on a one-year deal.
- 15:31Speaker 2: So we'll see. But I'll tell you what, I like
- 15:35Speaker 2: Cousins more than Gino Smith. Gino Smith, you could say
- 15:38Speaker 2: all you want about all the problems they had around
- 15:39Speaker 2: him last season. He was awful.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Is that a good segue into our fourth worst NFL team?
- 15:44Speaker 1: Because I do have the Jets as my fourth worst
- 15:46Speaker 1: NFL team.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Well, you know what? With that one, my friend Kerry Rhodes,
- 15:52Speaker 2: former Jet and Cardinal Safety, we do Fox Sports Radio
- 15:56Speaker 2: together every Sunday. And he keeps telling me how much
- 15:58Speaker 2: better they're going to be because the roster is better.
- 16:01Speaker 2: But again, Gino Smith, he struggled. He did great. He
- 16:06Speaker 2: came out of nowhere and kind of shocked everyone with
- 16:09Speaker 2: his fine play for a couple seasons with the Seahawks.
- 16:13Speaker 2: But now, the good thing about the Jets is they
- 16:17Speaker 2: got the whole deal done. I give their GM credit,
- 16:20Speaker 2: Darren Mugee, credit. He wasn't going to trade him. He
- 16:22Speaker 2: kept him.
- 16:24Speaker 1: A.D.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Mitchell there now for a full season. Garrett Wilson. Tim
- 16:27Speaker 2: Patrick is not a bad backup. Omar Cooper, like you–
- 16:30Speaker 2: and loaded a tight end. I know Sadiq's got an
- 16:32Speaker 2: injury with Mason Taylor.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 2: And all the draft capital.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Two decent tackles. Yeah, two good offensive tackles. They have talent.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Like you're saying, they have talent. I have zero faith.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Zero faith in the coaching staff. I mean, Aaron Glenn
- 16:45Speaker 1: fired almost every single coach he had after the first
- 16:47Speaker 1: year and then replaced him with guys like– I'm like, oh,
- 16:50Speaker 1: Frank Reich's your offensive coordinator, your play caller. I like
- 16:53Speaker 1: Frank a lot. You know, his track record as a
- 16:56Speaker 1: play caller is not very good. whether it's Carolina, whether
- 16:58Speaker 1: it's Atlanta, whether it's other places. I just, so I
- 17:01Speaker 1: don't have a whole lot of faith in this coaching staff.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I'm glad he is. I guess he's going to call
- 17:05Speaker 1: the defense now, which is what he was hired to do.
- 17:07Speaker 1: So he should, but I feel like the coaching staff
- 17:10Speaker 1: is going to get in the way of, of this
- 17:12Speaker 1: young talent that they're trying to put together. And so
- 17:15Speaker 1: that's why they're my fourth worst NFL team. I don't
- 17:17Speaker 1: know if they've got, okay.
- 17:19Speaker 2: They got real problems, a corner, real problems, a corner,
- 17:23Speaker 2: a pass rush. No, David Bailey was arguably the best
- 17:26Speaker 2: pass rusher for this draft. So, you know, you're hoping
- 17:29Speaker 2: he plays great. Micah Fitzpatrick, I know the Steelers thought
- 17:32Speaker 2: he was on the downside. You know, the Dolphins were
- 17:37Speaker 2: able to get something for him. They're just not enough
- 17:41Speaker 2: talent on defense. Now, could they get five or six wins? Yes.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I can see that. I can see that. Okay.
- 17:46Speaker 1: So was that your number, what, 28 team? Or I'm sorry,
- 17:50Speaker 1: what was the number? It would be 28. Oh, yeah.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Well, it's interesting. We both had that.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I had a Cleveland– Cleveland– I had the top of
- 17:58Speaker 2: the bottom five with Cleveland and then the Jets. Yes.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Gotcha. So good. Well, look at that. We're already in sync.
- 18:04Speaker 2: All right, let's get to our third worst. You don't
- 18:06Speaker 2: have my list.
- 18:06Speaker 1: No, I don't have yours and you don't have mine.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I'll go first with the third worst team because you've
- 18:10Speaker 1: already talked about it. I have the Browns as the
- 18:12Speaker 1: third worst team. Okay. Only because they just don't, to me, Adam,
- 18:17Speaker 1: have like– first of all, they're going to play in
- 18:19Speaker 1: a pretty tough division. They're going to have to play
- 18:20Speaker 1: six games against the Bengals, against the Ravens, and against
- 18:23Speaker 1: the Steelers. We always know that's difficult for them. They
- 18:25Speaker 1: have this quarterback situation you just mentioned. That's a mess.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I'm not even sure that when Shador gets in, it's
- 18:30Speaker 1: going to be better. And all of their best players
- 18:32Speaker 1: are either rookies or second-year players. They drafted on the O-line.
- 18:37Speaker 1: That's great. I don't know how ready they are to
- 18:38Speaker 1: be good. They're two wide receivers, Boston and Concepcion are rookies.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Once Shador gets in there, he's basically a second-year player.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Fannin's a second-year player. I do love their linebacker. A
- 18:50Speaker 1: lot of people do. who he's still a second year player,
- 18:52Speaker 1: also Schlesinger.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:54Speaker 1: But like, there's not enough like, like when the times
- 18:56Speaker 1: get tough, which they will for the Browns. I don't
- 18:59Speaker 1: see enough veteran leadership, enough guys who have the gravitas
- 19:02Speaker 1: to help pull things together. It's going to be tough
- 19:04Speaker 1: for this coaching staff to get this team to play
- 19:07Speaker 1: above each year. So while I do think better days
- 19:09Speaker 1: are ahead, I just think this year there there's, you
- 19:12Speaker 1: can't bank on them for anything.
- 19:15Speaker 2: The defense is going to have to defense of the
- 19:17Speaker 2: run game. Now, What I'm going to tell you is
- 19:20Speaker 2: Schroeder's going to play. He's eventually going to start. Sean
- 19:23Speaker 2: Watson's not going to start the entire season. It'll never happen.
- 19:26Speaker 2: When Schroeder gets in there, if nobody gets hurt, Judkins, okay,
- 19:31Speaker 2: he's a power runner. With Boston, Jerry Judy, Conception, and Fannin,
- 19:38Speaker 2: they've got enough of the pass target group. Now, I'm
- 19:40Speaker 2: a little worried about this completely new offensive line. Five
- 19:43Speaker 2: new starters, that's never advisable. What I don't understand is
- 19:47Speaker 2: the Chargers won no part of Zion Johnson.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:50Speaker 2: The Browns paying big money.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Yep.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Elton Jenkins, Tevin Jenkins, Titus Howard, you know, acquired in
- 19:57Speaker 2: the trade.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Right.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Tackle Spencer for now. We'll see how good he looks
- 20:02Speaker 2: early on. It's, Uh, they've got, look, they got challenges
- 20:07Speaker 2: in their offensive line. It's never advisable to completely redo
- 20:10Speaker 2: your offensive line.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:11Speaker 2: You're an intriguing team. I just wish the quarterback situation
- 20:13Speaker 2: would be better.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Uh, I'm, I'm with you a hundred percent. I don't
- 20:17Speaker 1: love what they got on defense either. Some got good
- 20:19Speaker 1: guys in the backend, maybe the front end. I mean,
- 20:20Speaker 1: versus obviously a good player, but I just, it's just
- 20:23Speaker 1: going to be tough for this team. Tough sledding all
- 20:25Speaker 1: year long.
- 20:26Speaker 2: All right.
- 20:26Speaker 1: So I had, uh, the Browns is my 30th overall team.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Who's your third? Who did you have 30th overall?
- 20:32Speaker 2: All right. So this team is this, This is what
- 20:35Speaker 2: I was saying earlier to start this. This team seemingly
- 20:39Speaker 2: has not gotten right at quarterback. In fact, if you
- 20:43Speaker 2: really look at it, the Cardinals, Kyler Murray, obviously at
- 20:47Speaker 2: best mixed results. Matt Leiner, I'm going way back. That
- 20:49Speaker 2: was his total loss. I mean, you just look at,
- 20:52Speaker 2: and Jacoby Brissette's an excellent backup. Yeah. Really good backup. Now,
- 20:57Speaker 2: Carson Beck, he's going to play at some point this season.
- 20:59Speaker 1: He just will.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Jacoby's an excellent backup. he's a transitional quarterback to the
- 21:06Speaker 2: next guy. And the other thing is, no matter who
- 21:11Speaker 2: the GM, they seemingly never get it right in the
- 21:13Speaker 2: offensive line. Now, I would say Amal is still playing
- 21:17Speaker 2: good football. The right side of their offensive line is
- 21:21Speaker 2: certainly questionable. Froholt, a kid that came over from Cleveland,
- 21:24Speaker 2: is actually a really underrated signing. The jolty Froholt, I
- 21:27Speaker 2: know it's a funny name, but actually his agent, how
- 21:30Speaker 2: about this one? Former Eagles. Joe Panos. How about that one?
- 21:35Speaker 1: Oh, okay. I thought you were going to say the
- 21:36Speaker 1: other former, Barry Gardner. I wasn't sure.
- 21:38Speaker 2: No, no. The only reason I know, I ran into
- 21:39Speaker 2: Joe at the airport and I was talking about his
- 21:43Speaker 2: free agents a number of years ago and he goes,
- 21:44Speaker 2: I got a guy who's going to get paid. And
- 21:46Speaker 2: he said, Jody Froholt. I'm like, really?
- 21:48Speaker 1: He was right.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But yeah, it's Michael Wilson finally came into his own,
- 21:54Speaker 2: got his extension.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yep.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Marvin Harrison, better last year, still not there yet. Great
- 22:00Speaker 2: Trey McBride. Love has got the high ankle sprain. You're
- 22:02Speaker 2: worried about that.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Yep.
- 22:04Speaker 2: To me, it's... Defensively, they've got a lot of talented
- 22:11Speaker 2: young players, but the pass rush... Josh Swett, continue that.
- 22:14Speaker 2: He had a really good year. Darius Robinson, the first rounder,
- 22:17Speaker 2: has been hurt a lot. Hasn't gotten there yet. Walter
- 22:20Speaker 2: Nolan's been hurt, but when he played healthy, he was good.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Sack on his first NFL snap.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Oh, is that right?
- 22:26Speaker 1: Okay. The corners.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Will Johnson had some injuries. There's some talent on the
- 22:32Speaker 2: back end. With above-average quarterback play, this actually could be
- 22:37Speaker 2: a wild-card team. I just don't trust the quarterback situation.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I agree with you. I think they've assembled some decent
- 22:42Speaker 1: young players. They still have to assemble more. I like
- 22:44Speaker 1: the coaching staff. Well, I don't love Nathaniel Hackett as
- 22:47Speaker 1: the OC, but they're getting a little floor Shanahan offense,
- 22:50Speaker 1: so we'll see. But I'm with you. They've kind of
- 22:53Speaker 1: botched quarterback for a while. They're one– Injury away from
- 22:56Speaker 1: Carson Beck being their quarterback.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Injured. So I actually had the Cardinals as my second
- 23:01Speaker 1: worst team. So we're getting in the same order here.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I went Raiders, Jets, Browns, 28, 29, 30. You have Browns, Jets, Cardinals, 28, 29, 30.
- 23:11Speaker 1: So with that said, I had the Cardinals as 31st,
- 23:14Speaker 1: my fourth worst team. And who do you have?
- 23:17Speaker 2: All right. So I've got the Raiders next. We've talked
- 23:21Speaker 2: about them. They're just not enough talent. John Spitek, the GM,
- 23:26Speaker 2: definitely was aggressive. They had to spend money because over
- 23:30Speaker 2: like a three-year period, you got to get to the cap.
- 23:33Speaker 2: You got to spend a certain amount of cash, not cap,
- 23:35Speaker 2: a certain amount of cash. So, you know, he did.
- 23:39Speaker 2: They went crazy with the Linderbaum deal. I mean, remember,
- 23:43Speaker 2: they didn't trade Crosby. It fell through. So all this
- 23:46Speaker 2: cash is on it. He spent a lot on Kobe Dean.
- 23:50Speaker 2: But there are ways away. There are ways away. Yeah.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Looking forward to seeing Mendoza play. He'll eventually start. That's
- 23:55Speaker 2: going to happen. See how well he can do. But
- 23:58Speaker 2: what John Spitek's got to do, he's got to redo
- 24:01Speaker 2: the receiver core. He's got a bunch of backups. Jack
- 24:04Speaker 2: Bash was seen as a fifth-rounder, talking to clubs about him.
- 24:08Speaker 2: And he went in the second. Naylor is a good backup.
- 24:11Speaker 2: The Depeng started money. Trey Tucker actually was good. He
- 24:13Speaker 2: could run. He surprised me a little bit last season.
- 24:16Speaker 2: But overall, they're just not good enough at receivers.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the common bond between my 31st-ranked team,
- 24:23Speaker 1: the Cardinals, and yours, the Raiders, is that they're probably
- 24:25Speaker 1: both going to go 0-6 in a division because it's
- 24:28Speaker 1: going to be tough for them to win a division game.
- 24:29Speaker 1: The Cardinals have to play the Rams, the 49ers, the Seahawks.
- 24:32Speaker 1: The Raiders have to play the Broncos, the Chargers, and
- 24:36Speaker 1: the Chiefs. I think the Chiefs will be better than
- 24:39Speaker 1: they were last year, obviously. It's tough sledding when you've
- 24:41Speaker 1: already got six losses there. And you're just looking for
- 24:46Speaker 1: A future, and obviously that leaves us, unless you like
- 24:50Speaker 1: totally pulled the wool out here or pulled the rug
- 24:53Speaker 1: out of it. No, that leaves the Miami Dolphins, who
- 24:56Speaker 1: maybe are not only the worst team in the NFL,
- 24:59Speaker 1: but if you look at their 53-man roster, this may
- 25:03Speaker 1: be right up there. The worst teams I can remember
- 25:05Speaker 1: ever seeing, Adam, were like the 2008 to 2010 Raiders.
- 25:09Speaker 1: You remember that? Like the Jamarcus Russell into Terrell Pryor Raiders.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Like they had Nnamdi and nothing. That was really it.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Really bad.
- 25:19Speaker 1: This team might rival that.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yeah, they're bad.
- 25:22Speaker 1: This offense team is bad.
- 25:24Speaker 2: I unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your point of view,
- 25:27Speaker 2: because I was able to see the commandos, but I
- 25:28Speaker 2: was there for the joint practice three weeks ago.
- 25:31Speaker 1: It was pain.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I mean, they were so bad. And you can look
- 25:35Speaker 2: at a depth chart, but you don't know until you
- 25:36Speaker 2: really go for sure. And I'm like, you know, I'm watching.
- 25:41Speaker 2: I always... Look forward to seeing three or four different things.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Watch offensive line play, which they have some young talent.
- 25:49Speaker 2: The offensive line's been upgraded. I give their new GM credit.
- 25:54Speaker 2: John Eric Sullivan, Jerry's son. Great Jerry Sullivan, veteran receivers coach.
- 25:59Speaker 2: But the receiver core, the worst in the National Football League.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I'd be shocked if they do anything there. A chance
- 26:08Speaker 2: a player, the running back, no doubt. But defensively, It's
- 26:12Speaker 2: just a lack of talent, man. There's just not enough.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It's going to take time. Chris Johnson, we'll see how
- 26:16Speaker 2: good he is, the first-round pick at corner. A favorite
- 26:19Speaker 2: of the scouting community, Jacob Rodriguez from Texas Tech is
- 26:21Speaker 2: a player. Jordan Brooks has been a nice story.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Yep.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Not enough pass rushers, not enough at corner. It's going
- 26:29Speaker 2: to be hard. And then Greg Dulcich is an athlete,
- 26:32Speaker 2: but he's been hurt almost his entire career. Yep.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I mean, their starting edge alongside first rounder Chop Robinson,
- 26:40Speaker 1: the other one is Josh Uche. It could be.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I don't even know yet.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Or maybe, yeah. He's the most veteran one they've got,
- 26:46Speaker 1: I guess.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I mean, they just don't have any interest. Now, as
- 26:49Speaker 2: I said the last time we talked about this, about
- 26:51Speaker 2: the Dolphins, we were talking on my mini tour, they
- 26:55Speaker 2: made a decision they're going to take massive cap hits
- 26:57Speaker 2: because they're inheriting a bad roster.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:00Speaker 2: And you have to be willing to say, tell ownership,
- 27:04Speaker 2: in this case it's Steve and Ross, look, This is
- 27:06Speaker 2: what we want to do. Are you okay with it?
- 27:08Speaker 2: Because not only are we taking massive cap hits, you're
- 27:11Speaker 2: going to owe Tua Tungabaloa over $ 50 million in cash.
- 27:14Speaker 2: It's fully guaranteed. Can you live with it? The answer
- 27:16Speaker 2: is yes. They did it. Dolphin fans, it's going to
- 27:20Speaker 2: be tough. But it is what it is.
- 27:22Speaker 1: It is. It's going to be a long year for
- 27:24Speaker 1: that team. Maybe they can pick off the Jets once.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Who knows? We'll see.
- 27:30Speaker 2: But you never know. No, if you take a team lightly,
- 27:34Speaker 2: you just never know.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point. You said something in a
- 27:37Speaker 1: recent pod that I've been laughing at just to myself.
- 27:40Speaker 1: You said something that if Jeff Halfley, if the Dolphins
- 27:43Speaker 1: go like 5-12, you may have to give Jeff Halfley
- 27:46Speaker 1: coach of the year. You're almost right. You have to
- 27:50Speaker 1: consider it.
- 27:52Speaker 2: You know, my first favorite team was the Dolphins.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Really? In the 70s.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yeah, when I was a little kid. Yeah, Mike. Going
- 27:58Speaker 2: down to Florida.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Bob Greasy teams. Paul Warfield was my favorite player. Number 42.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Sure.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Larry Zonka, Jim Kick. Manny Fernandez. Yeah, man. That was
- 28:10Speaker 2: Bob Kuchenberg. Yeah, loved it. Anyway.
- 28:12Speaker 1: All right. So listen, we had no disagreements in terms
- 28:15Speaker 1: of the teams. We each had the Raiders, Jets, Browns, Cardinals,
- 28:18Speaker 1: Dolphins in some form as our five worst NFL teams.
- 28:22Speaker 1: And the only team I really struggled to keep out
- 28:24Speaker 1: of this was the Titans. And I could easily make
- 28:27Speaker 1: an argument that maybe the Raiders will be better than
- 28:28Speaker 1: the Titans. Maybe one of these teams we talked about
- 28:30Speaker 1: will be better and the Titans will be worse. But
- 28:32Speaker 1: that's just how it shaped up for us.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Right.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Let's get to our 10 best teams in the NFL.
- 28:38Speaker 1: We'll pick up the pace a little bit. We don't
- 28:39Speaker 1: need to give a whole thorough forensic analysis of every
- 28:44Speaker 1: single team. My 10th team. Football is finally back and

- 31:19Speaker 2: All right.
- 31:19Speaker 1: And this team could be a lot better. I'm sort
- 31:22Speaker 1: of giving them a little. I may not be giving
- 31:24Speaker 1: the coaching staff enough of the benefit of the doubt
- 31:25Speaker 1: here is the Chargers. I have them at number 10.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I think the Mike McDaniel addition is going to be
- 31:32Speaker 1: Huge for their offense. If they keep Hampton healthy, I
- 31:35Speaker 1: think McConkie and Quinton Johnson can finally have a better
- 31:38Speaker 1: year just on Mike McDaniel alone, making that rushing offense
- 31:42Speaker 1: what it can be. Their offensive tackles are healthy right now, right?
- 31:45Speaker 1: The Slater should be playing and Alt should be playing.
- 31:49Speaker 1: So their offensive line was in shambles last year, and
- 31:51Speaker 1: they still won a lot of games. So I like
- 31:54Speaker 1: the Raiders. I'm sorry, the Chargers. And as we go on,
- 31:57Speaker 1: they could be a team that gets way higher than
- 31:59Speaker 1: top 10.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I should have been higher on them. When Jim
- 32:03Speaker 2: Harbaugh took over, I should have, I should know better
- 32:06Speaker 2: because he's a turnaround program guy. This is everywhere he goes.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Yep.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Then people, then he wears out his welcome because he's
- 32:13Speaker 2: just different, but he's a great coach. Yep. I actually
- 32:16Speaker 2: have him at 11.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 32:19Speaker 2: So what I do is I have the Chargers, I
- 32:21Speaker 2: have the Jaguars at 10. I don't think it'll be,
- 32:24Speaker 2: in fact, they're not gonna be as good as last season.
- 32:25Speaker 2: They're gonna be a little bit of a drop off,
- 32:27Speaker 2: but they addressed their offensive line. Colvin Landon's back from
- 32:33Speaker 2: his major knee injury. They pregnant on the third rounders.
- 32:37Speaker 2: They're hoping he's going to contribute early. It's Parker Washington.
- 32:40Speaker 2: I know for fantasy, he's going way too high. Who's really,
- 32:44Speaker 2: was really good last season. They're really solid everywhere. It's just,
- 32:47Speaker 2: the only question is that can basial tootin be a
- 32:51Speaker 2: quality starting running back? That's the, the, honestly, when you
- 32:53Speaker 2: look at their roster, okay. Corner Buster Brown's been a
- 32:58Speaker 2: big story. We've talked about him before. He goes faced
- 33:00Speaker 2: him before. A little shaky corner. Could Travis Hunter be
- 33:05Speaker 2: that stud player? They've got plenty of pass rush. They're
- 33:07Speaker 2: going to be good. Liam Cohen shocked me. He did
- 33:11Speaker 2: a great job, but there's not going to be 14-3.
- 33:14Speaker 2: That's not happening.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I agree. Really, I made a list of outside looking in.
- 33:19Speaker 1: They were my top team. So they would be my 11th,
- 33:21Speaker 1: just like the Chargers are your 11th. The offensive line
- 33:24Speaker 1: and the run game give me a lot of pause.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I know Lawrence had nine rushing touchdowns last year. That's crazy.
- 33:30Speaker 1: He can duplicate that. I think he's also going way
- 33:32Speaker 1: too high in fantasy. And I just– they'll play a
- 33:35Speaker 1: tougher schedule because of how they finished last year. So
- 33:39Speaker 1: I think they could be a team that goes further,
- 33:41Speaker 1: but their record's a little worse. But I just– I
- 33:44Speaker 1: don't trust the O-line to do– plus, I think they're
- 33:47Speaker 1: switching their tackles, right? They're making Van Landen the right
- 33:49Speaker 1: tackle now. The guy who played right tackle is the
- 33:51Speaker 1: left tackle. That's just too much. Yeah, I just can't
- 33:55Speaker 1: do it.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Actually, no, Harrison– it's interesting. Anton Harrison's moving to left.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Right.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Van Lannen, I think it was a major knee injury.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I can't remember if it was an ACL. He called
- 34:05Speaker 2: Van Lannen an unbelievable story. Yeah. But they extended Walker Little.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Right.
- 34:09Speaker 2: But, yeah, so they were 13-4 last season. I totally
- 34:14Speaker 2: missed them. I just didn't see it.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Who did?
- 34:16Speaker 2: I mean, look, these worst for first teams. Everyone, give
- 34:21Speaker 2: your worst to first in the comments. I'm very curious
- 34:23Speaker 2: to see what people have. Yep. But that's, yeah, the Jaguars.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Or my 10th team.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Who's your ninth?
- 34:31Speaker 2: I got same division, the Texans.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Okay. Oh, wow.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Talking to Greg Cosell. Greg said he did a study
- 34:38Speaker 2: of the Texans and Stroud. And Stroud's perceiving pressure. That's
- 34:44Speaker 2: what happened. And we know their offensive line. The GM
- 34:47Speaker 2: has done a pretty good job. Nick Casario, the one
- 34:51Speaker 2: area where he's missed is the offensive line. He's not
- 34:53Speaker 2: done a good enough job with it. And he traded Tunsell,
- 34:56Speaker 2: for Christ's sake. Yeah. Like, it's too much patchwork. It
- 35:02Speaker 2: doesn't work, folks. It never works. But he's drafted well overall,
- 35:07Speaker 2: but he's not done a good job addressing the offensive line.
- 35:08Speaker 2: So they're my ninth team.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Okay. I do have them in my top ten a
- 35:12Speaker 1: little higher because of the eliteness of their defense. I'll
- 35:14Speaker 1: get to what they've done offensively. I have the Eagles
- 35:17Speaker 1: at number nine. Kind of flirted between the Eagles and
- 35:21Speaker 1: 49ers there. 49ers get a lot of guys back. and
- 35:26Speaker 1: had fewer change. In fact, most of the 49ers additions are,
- 35:29Speaker 1: are guys that are really good, like Bosa or Fred Barnett,
- 35:33Speaker 1: like guys who are coming back. I'm a little worried
- 35:36Speaker 1: about their aging.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Fred Warner, not Fred Barnett.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Fred Barnett, man, Fred Warner.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I am like much too, too long.
- 35:44Speaker 2: 86, by the way, 86, go ahead.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Crazy. But they'll get the kid back from Georgia that
- 35:51Speaker 1: they drafted in the first round. I love their second
- 35:54Speaker 1: round pick, Stribling. He had a good preseason. And I
- 35:56Speaker 1: honestly thought Shanahan should have been coach of the year
- 35:58Speaker 1: last year. I mean, to win as many games as
- 36:01Speaker 1: he won last year with 12, right, with almost a
- 36:03Speaker 1: shell of that team shows you how great of a
- 36:06Speaker 1: coach that he is. He obviously hasn't won the big one.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I know that. But anyway, this is about the Eagles.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I have the Eagles ninth. Probably would have them higher
- 36:14Speaker 1: if I was just a little bit more confident I
- 36:18Speaker 1: knew what they were going to be offensively and with
- 36:20Speaker 1: Dickerson and Lane Johnson, the whole offensive line situation. But
- 36:24Speaker 1: for right now, I have nine. I think that's pretty fair.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I know other teams will have them. People will have
- 36:29Speaker 1: them higher. I have listened to some analysts who I
- 36:32Speaker 1: respect who didn't even have the Eagles in the top 10,
- 36:34Speaker 1: which shocks me.
- 36:36Speaker 2: I could see having them as 11 or 12. I
- 36:41Speaker 2: certainly could see. You can make the case. So my
- 36:45Speaker 2: eighth team, and then I am picking them to win
- 36:48Speaker 2: the NFC. North, your former NFC Central.
- 36:52Speaker 1: I was going to say, your eighth team is winning
- 36:54Speaker 1: the NFC? Crazy.
- 36:56Speaker 2: North, the Chicago Bears.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Wow. That defense?
- 37:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 37:03Speaker 1: All right.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Well, Dennis Allen is a Helen Keller of coaches. He's
- 37:07Speaker 2: a miracle worker.
- 37:08Speaker 1: He absolutely is. Yes, he is.
- 37:11Speaker 2: And they're going to get some of these injured guys back.
- 37:13Speaker 2: I'm a little bit worried about the talent level in defense,
- 37:16Speaker 2: but I love the coaching, the scheme, the execution. They
- 37:21Speaker 2: have a depth issue at receiver. Their offensive line should
- 37:23Speaker 2: be good. They're great at running back the way they
- 37:26Speaker 2: do things. The pass circuit group is good. Just to
- 37:30Speaker 2: be higher, they need more pass rushers. That's a concern
- 37:33Speaker 2: of mine. It's definitely a concern. And Dio Dingbo's coming
- 37:36Speaker 2: back with twin Achilles. That's a problem. But Thinaman, the
- 37:39Speaker 2: safety we liked prior to the draft. Jalen Johnson, if
- 37:44Speaker 2: he could just stay healthy, that's always the challenge.
- 37:46Speaker 1: But Right.
- 37:48Speaker 2: They're going to win that division because the Packers have
- 37:50Speaker 2: all sorts of problems.
- 37:52Speaker 1: For sure.
- 37:52Speaker 2: The Vikings, good luck with that quarterback, with that quarterback situation.
- 37:57Speaker 2: The Lions, I've been off them for last year, and
- 37:59Speaker 2: they were my breakout team four years ago. I'm off
- 38:01Speaker 2: them again. I don't have them as a top 10 team.
- 38:04Speaker 1: I don't believe me. I don't think I took... I
- 38:06Speaker 1: love the NFC North, and yet I don't have a
- 38:08Speaker 1: single NFC North team in my top 10, so it's
- 38:10Speaker 1: probably a flaw, because they're all going to beat each
- 38:12Speaker 1: other up, but I have all of them on my...
- 38:15Speaker 1: just outside looking in. The Packers, the Lions, not all
- 38:18Speaker 1: of them, and the Bears. Vikings, I'm a little dubious on,
- 38:21Speaker 1: but we'll see. Alright, so that's your eighth team. Mine
- 38:23Speaker 1: was the 49ers. I explained why. Let's go to our
- 38:26Speaker 1: seventh best team. I went with Buffalo here, Adam, and
- 38:30Speaker 1: I might be a little low on them. I think
- 38:33Speaker 1: some people probably have them as a top five team.
- 38:35Speaker 1: I'm not ready yet for that. I do like the fact,
- 38:38Speaker 1: even though I didn't love the idea to stay in
- 38:40Speaker 1: house and go with Joe Brady as the head coach,
- 38:42Speaker 1: because I thought that team needed to like start over
- 38:45Speaker 1: and really get a new direction. At least you can
- 38:47Speaker 1: say he has presided over this offense. He'll have a little,
- 38:51Speaker 1: he'll have more control of it. He won't have Sean
- 38:53Speaker 1: maybe handcuffing him at all on what he does offensively.
- 38:57Speaker 1: They added DJ Moore, who I still think has some
- 38:59Speaker 1: good juice left for this wide receiver core. Defense still
- 39:03Speaker 1: has– they bring in Bradley Chubb. They bring in C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
- 39:07Speaker 1: I think they needed players like that. They needed more
- 39:09Speaker 1: pass rushers. I don't think it's an elite defense, but
- 39:12Speaker 1: it is an elite offense that will probably average 28
- 39:15Speaker 1: to 30 points, and that will make it easier on
- 39:17Speaker 1: the defense.
- 39:18Speaker 2: It's interesting. They haven't run a 34 defense in probably
- 39:21Speaker 2: 10 years, a little bit longer, but they're going to
- 39:26Speaker 2: run one now. Actually, no, Cause Schwartzy.
- 39:29Speaker 1: No, I was going to say is, is a guy,
- 39:31Speaker 1: Jim Leonard is there. Yeah.
- 39:33Speaker 2: He's a 34 guy. Yeah.
- 39:34Speaker 1: I thought he, I know he does a lot of
- 39:36Speaker 1: multiple front stuff, but yeah, I'll probably start off looking.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:38Speaker 1: I think he's a 34 guy. Yeah. You're right.
- 39:41Speaker 2: The one issue they, and we'll see what Bradley, what
- 39:43Speaker 2: Bradley Chubb has. Now they, they added TJ Parker. You
- 39:46Speaker 2: mentioned Chubb. Gregorso is a decent quarterback. pass rusher Michael
- 39:52Speaker 2: Hoyt's back from his injury. Landon Jackson didn't really contribute
- 39:57Speaker 2: much as a rookie, but they've added enough that their
- 40:00Speaker 2: pass rusher is going to be better. How much better
- 40:01Speaker 2: is the question? And the depth of corner is questionable.
- 40:06Speaker 2: They have some issues. I'm with you. They're my top 10.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I could certainly see why you have them in the
- 40:10Speaker 2: back of your top 10.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and I want to be more excited about Jim
- 40:15Speaker 1: Leonard because I hear great things about him. I know
- 40:16Speaker 1: he just spent time in Denver under a really great
- 40:20Speaker 1: coordinator in Vance Joseph. So I do imagine that what
- 40:23Speaker 1: they lack in elite pass rushers, they're going to manufacture
- 40:26Speaker 1: some pass rush. So they're an exciting team. They probably
- 40:30Speaker 1: should be higher than seven, but I'm keeping it at seven.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Who's your seventh team?
- 40:35Speaker 2: The Bills.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Okay. Wow.
- 40:37Speaker 1: How about that? We nailed that.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Nice.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I'm just a little wary of Joe Brady as a
- 40:41Speaker 2: head coach. I'm not.
- 40:42Speaker 1: With you.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Everything I've, all the information I've gathered, great energy, passion
- 40:48Speaker 2: for it. their offensive scheme, they've gotten away with a
- 40:52Speaker 2: lot of stuff. You mentioned the DJ Moore edition, which
- 40:56Speaker 2: I think is funny because the GM barked at anyone
- 40:59Speaker 2: who suggested the receiver court wasn't good enough prior to
- 41:01Speaker 2: the acquisition. Well, we always say transactions to tell you
- 41:04Speaker 2: what the team thinks. Yep. So despite what he said,
- 41:07Speaker 2: Brandon Bean, he got DJ Moore. So yeah, he's telling
- 41:10Speaker 2: you that it wasn't good enough, which we knew anyway,
- 41:12Speaker 2: they had a bunch of number threes and number fours. So,
- 41:14Speaker 2: but yeah, it's, They have questions, but with that quarterback,
- 41:19Speaker 2: Josh Allen is a superstar. Got to win, though, in
- 41:22Speaker 2: the playoffs, but he's a superstar.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Very true. All right, who's your sixth team?
- 41:28Speaker 2: I've got the Eagles there. This, it would not shock
- 41:33Speaker 2: me if Rick Wolin holds up and doesn't get benched.
- 41:35Speaker 2: If he plays well, it would not shock me if
- 41:37Speaker 2: they wound up being the number one defense. They are
- 41:39Speaker 2: so loaded. Their front seven, to me, is the best
- 41:40Speaker 2: in the National Football League.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Right.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Don't know what Grenard's going to give him because he
- 41:44Speaker 2: hasn't practiced since last year. Until now, whatever he's doing,
- 41:49Speaker 2: we'll find out. But we've outlined on several shows the
- 41:53Speaker 2: lack of quality corner depth. That's an issue. The quality
- 41:56Speaker 2: of overall safety, okay. We'll see. And then obviously the
- 42:02Speaker 2: big question is, can Hurts get this offense? Can he
- 42:05Speaker 2: play consistent football? I'm one of the few media people
- 42:09Speaker 2: who thinks he will. I've seen the comments out there.
- 42:11Speaker 2: People think it doesn't fit the way Jalen plays. But
- 42:13Speaker 2: I'll continue to say we've seen timing throws. We've seen it.
- 42:16Speaker 2: We've isolated on inside the tape with Coastal. You just
- 42:19Speaker 2: got to be consistent with it. There's no going back
- 42:21Speaker 2: to any other offense. This is the offense they're running,
- 42:23Speaker 2: but I'm, I'm feeling Jalen gets it. Everything I've heard publicly,
- 42:27Speaker 2: privately has been, he's into, he's into it. He knows
- 42:31Speaker 2: he understands. Okay. We've got to see it, but I'm,
- 42:34Speaker 2: I just feeling like it's going to happen. We'll see
- 42:36Speaker 2: if I'm right or wrong.
- 42:37Speaker 1: I like, I, I had him on top 10. I
- 42:39Speaker 1: had him nine. You have a little higher. That's, I
- 42:41Speaker 1: think it makes a lot of sense. They are one
- 42:42Speaker 1: of those teams that has variants because of, the new
- 42:45Speaker 1: offense and not knowing how it's going to take my
- 42:49Speaker 1: 16 was the Texans. I know you mentioned how elite
- 42:54Speaker 1: their defense is. We don't, I mean, you have the Eagles,
- 42:56Speaker 1: I have the Texans. They're both very similar in that
- 42:58Speaker 1: they have elite defenses, maybe the best defenses in the NFL,
- 43:03Speaker 1: more question marks on offense, the Texans. I'm banking on
- 43:07Speaker 1: the addition of David Montgomery. And then they drafted a
- 43:10Speaker 1: guard that they already love. And you and I heard
- 43:13Speaker 1: great things about him. in the pre-draft process, we'll sell
- 43:15Speaker 1: all of them. Keelan Rutledge, the left guard, I think
- 43:18Speaker 1: it was Georgia tech that he played at. So Ursary,
- 43:21Speaker 1: another year of development on the left side, left tackle
- 43:23Speaker 1: Rutledge there at left guard. Um, Ed Ingram, do I
- 43:26Speaker 1: love him as a right guard and Trent Brown is
- 43:28Speaker 1: the right tackle? No, but they played a decent amount
- 43:30Speaker 1: of football. And if they're going to run with Montgomery
- 43:33Speaker 1: now losing their, their, their wide receiver, that really sucks.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Um, Oh, Jane Higgins and, and, Yeah. Look, I know
- 43:42Speaker 2: he's going to play football at some point, and he's
- 43:44Speaker 2: worked his ass off just a terrible injury.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 43:49Speaker 2: It hurts them. It hurts them.
- 43:51Speaker 1: It was a sneaky good trade by Casario to get
- 43:54Speaker 1: Keyshawn Boutte in there and pair him with Nico Collins.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I like the moral.
- 43:57Speaker 2: I'll tell you what. The Eagles didn't want him. The
- 44:00Speaker 2: Eagles went in the A.J. Brown trade, but he's going
- 44:02Speaker 2: to help them. He's just not fast. Yeah. This guy's
- 44:05Speaker 2: a good possession receiver. Collins is a stud. He just
- 44:07Speaker 2: gets hurt a lot. Jalen Noel will be the slot receiver.
- 44:11Speaker 2: they're good enough at tight end. Yep. Oh boy. That,
- 44:14Speaker 2: that Marlon Klein pick that just shocked a lot of
- 44:16Speaker 2: people in the NFL for him to go in the
- 44:18Speaker 2: second round like that. That's up there with Ben Senate,
- 44:21Speaker 2: you know, the second round tight end for the, from
- 44:24Speaker 2: Kansas state.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Right. I was going to say it was up there
- 44:26Speaker 1: with the Jags going with Berkshire, which surprised everybody.
- 44:29Speaker 2: After they extended Brent, Brent and strange was a second round.
- 44:31Speaker 2: It was actually a good player.
- 44:32Speaker 1: So, right.
- 44:33Speaker 2: I'm with you. I'm with you. I, they're, they're, It's
- 44:37Speaker 2: really– and then could C.J. Stroud– I just don't know.
- 44:40Speaker 2: He was elite as a rookie, and it's been downhill
- 44:42Speaker 2: ever since. Yeah.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Well, if they get this running game, if they make
- 44:46Speaker 1: him more feel comfortable and not thinking that there's pressure
- 44:48Speaker 1: because they're running the ball, Montgomery and the upgrades on
- 44:51Speaker 1: their O-line, and that tight end, they've got some guys
- 44:52Speaker 1: who can block there. So D'Amico has proven to be
- 44:55Speaker 1: a great coach. I think they're going to win the
- 44:57Speaker 1: ASC South. So, yeah, Texans are sixth.
- 44:59Speaker 2: I hope so because I– yeah, I'm not a Jaguar
- 45:03Speaker 2: fan anyway.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Yeah. All right, fifth team. Who's your fifth best team?
- 45:10Speaker 2: This is tough. I have the Ravens, and they're going
- 45:14Speaker 2: to look so different offensively. No fool about Declan Doyle,
- 45:17Speaker 2: who's a Sean Payton protege, and then he did coach
- 45:19Speaker 2: one year with Ben Johnson. Didn't call the plays, though.
- 45:21Speaker 2: 30 years old, interviewed for the Eagles OC job. Might
- 45:25Speaker 2: have had it if he wanted it, but he went
- 45:27Speaker 2: to Baltimore. I'm loving it. I'm loving it that he's
- 45:32Speaker 2: going to bring this up to speed. I know they
- 45:35Speaker 2: have Derrick Henry that's going to start with a run,
- 45:36Speaker 2: but I expect the pass attempt numbers to go up
- 45:38Speaker 2: with Lamar. I'm just an anti-Weaver, getting another chance to
- 45:43Speaker 2: be defense coordinator, remember him as a player. The Trey
- 45:46Speaker 2: Hendrickson signing is going to be fun. This is just
- 45:49Speaker 2: a very interesting team to me. And boy, did Jacoby Landis,
- 45:52Speaker 2: one of my favorite rookie receivers, he was awesome at
- 45:54Speaker 2: the practice that I was at a while back. So yeah,
- 45:58Speaker 2: they're a top five, top six team to me.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Sure, sure. I actually have them a little later. We'll
- 46:03Speaker 1: talk about that in a second. My fifth team is
- 46:06Speaker 1: the Patriots. I know a lot of people think that
- 46:09Speaker 1: they should be a top three team. In my mind,
- 46:12Speaker 1: they were actually the fourth best team in the NFL
- 46:15Speaker 1: last year. I think the Broncos should have been in
- 46:17Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. They would have if they didn't have
- 46:19Speaker 1: to start Jarrett Stidham. Sean Payton made a bad coaching
- 46:22Speaker 1: decision to forego a field goal in that AFC championship game.
- 46:25Speaker 1: We all know about it in the snow. But I
- 46:27Speaker 1: think the Broncos are better teams. then the Patriots will
- 46:30Speaker 1: get to that. I thought the Rams and the Seahawks
- 46:33Speaker 1: were better overall than the Patriots last year. And I
- 46:37Speaker 1: think that the Patriots, because they played a very soft schedule,
- 46:40Speaker 1: will take a little bit of a step back. Now,
- 46:42Speaker 1: they're my fifth best team, so it's.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Not like I'm saying they're bad. This is the schedule.
- 46:47Speaker 2: At Seattle, of course, on Wednesday. Home against the Steelers,
- 46:50Speaker 2: what I really like. At the Jags and at the Bills. Now,
- 46:55Speaker 2: if they survive, then it gets easier. Host the Raiders
- 46:59Speaker 2: and host the Jets. So, yeah, they got to go
- 47:03Speaker 2: through this gauntlet the first four games.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's going to be tough. So they're not
- 47:07Speaker 1: the deepest team either. You know, they're already at running back.
- 47:10Speaker 1: They're hurt because Travion Henderson, A, didn't have a good camp. B,
- 47:14Speaker 1: is already dealing with an ankle. Ramondre puts the ball
- 47:16Speaker 1: on the carpet too much. We have to see how
- 47:18Speaker 1: Will Campbell, right? I don't want to mispronounce. All right.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Will Campbell, their left tackle, bounces back. He was hurt.
- 47:25Speaker 1: He got exposed a little bit at the end of
- 47:26Speaker 1: the year. They lost some guys. in free agency on
- 47:29Speaker 1: the defensive side. And of course, Christian Gonzalez saga has
- 47:32Speaker 1: been going on. That's, that's just a bad saga to
- 47:35Speaker 1: have happened to them. Go ahead.
- 47:39Speaker 2: We won't get into the variable. They're good. So yeah. Yeah.
- 47:43Speaker 1: It's funny.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Their roster. I remember running into someone of the Patriots
- 47:47Speaker 2: at the joint practices. So man, you guys rosters way
- 47:50Speaker 2: better than last year.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Oh, he was. Oh yeah, dude.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Cause they addressed a lot of
- 47:55Speaker 2: needs and, They spent in free agency. Where you have
- 47:58Speaker 2: the Patriots, that's where I have them. Exactly where I
- 48:01Speaker 2: have them.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Oh, you have the Ravens fifth. You have the Patriots fourth.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Well, okay.
- 48:05Speaker 2: They're my fourth team.
- 48:06Speaker 1: I have the Patriots fourth. Very close. Okay. All right.
- 48:09Speaker 1: For similar reasons. So you have the Patriots fourth. My
- 48:12Speaker 1: fourth team is the Seahawks. Adam, I just think that
- 48:15Speaker 1: as good as they were last year, they lost some
- 48:18Speaker 1: really key players. They obviously lost, what, Kenneth Walker, right?
- 48:21Speaker 1: They lost a pass rusher or two in Boye, Mafei.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Who else did they lose? They lost another player on defense.
- 48:30Speaker 1: It's escaping me right now. But I think that they
- 48:32Speaker 1: could be the best team again. It's just hard to
- 48:34Speaker 1: repeat as Super Bowl champions. I don't have a whole
- 48:38Speaker 1: list of things that I think make them a lot less,
- 48:40Speaker 1: except for the fact that now they've got to rely
- 48:43Speaker 1: on a rookie running back in Jadarian Price. Charbonnet is
- 48:46Speaker 1: not going to be ready to come back for a
- 48:48Speaker 1: little bit, and they're going to be the hunted. So
- 48:50Speaker 1: there's still to me, Oh, by the way, this is
- 48:52Speaker 1: the loss. They lost Clint Kubiak, which to me is huge.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I mean, he made such a difference in that offense.
- 48:58Speaker 1: And I know they hired a Shanahan disciple there to go.
- 49:04Speaker 2: This is, he's a first time play crawler, but here's
- 49:06Speaker 2: the thing. He's been a defensive coach. Yes. I don't very,
- 49:10Speaker 2: I've talked to people who are going very smart, well-respected guy,
- 49:13Speaker 2: but I don't know, man. This is the tough one.
- 49:18Speaker 2: I'm with you on Seattle. I have him as my
- 49:21Speaker 2: fourth team.
- 49:21Speaker 1: And then.
- 49:25Speaker 1: So you had Patriots as four, right? I had Seahawks four.
- 49:29Speaker 1: You had Patriots four. You had Ravens five. Okay, Seattle's
- 49:33Speaker 1: for three. That's what I thought.
- 49:36Speaker 2: And then I've got Denver. I don't know what the
- 49:39Speaker 2: odds makers are thinking. Show me where the Broncos weakness is.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I'm with you. That was my number two team. By
- 49:47Speaker 1: the way, I had Ravens. Just before we move on,
- 49:49Speaker 1: I had the Ravens as my three team because I
- 49:52Speaker 1: just think they're pulling for a huge bounce back. They're
- 49:54Speaker 1: going to play a third place schedule. You mentioned it, right?
- 49:57Speaker 1: Declan Doyle is going to come in and bring that.
- 49:59Speaker 1: under center off that, that Ben Johnson.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Kind of offense, West coast offense, by the way, he's right.
- 50:03Speaker 1: I think Lamar will be motivated by everybody thinking he
- 50:06Speaker 1: stinks now from last year. And he needs a little motivation.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Sometimes he needs to be healthy, but the defense, I mean,
- 50:13Speaker 1: they brought Trey Hendrickson in and you know what they
- 50:15Speaker 1: got on the backend with Humphrey, with Kyle Hamilton. And
- 50:18Speaker 1: I think Minter is going to be, it's just such
- 50:20Speaker 1: an excellent fit. He's been in the building. I see
- 50:22Speaker 1: a big bounce back for the Ravens. So that brought
- 50:25Speaker 1: us to number two.
- 50:26Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:26Speaker 2: They're, they're really solid. The only issue is, We'll see
- 50:33Speaker 2: if Trey Henningsen is now well into his thirties and
- 50:34Speaker 2: Mike Green and Zion Young.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Yep.
- 50:37Speaker 2: You know, they, they, the only issue I would have is,
- 50:40Speaker 2: is the, is on their offensive line, the interior with
- 50:45Speaker 2: Popesic and John Simpson, who was a, was Raven, he's back,
- 50:49Speaker 2: you know, with the Jets.
- 50:51Speaker 1: That's fair. Stanley's getting older every year.
- 50:54Speaker 2: The quality of the, the receiver depth. I mean, they're
- 50:57Speaker 2: going younger with Surratt and Jacoby Leno I mentioned earlier.
- 51:00Speaker 2: It says Walker needs to be better. See, Flowers is
- 51:03Speaker 2: a good player. He got his contract. By the way,
- 51:04Speaker 2: Mark Edwards is– Mark Andrews, not Edwards. Mark Andrews. You're
- 51:09Speaker 2: worried about the hands. The hands are getting a little shaky. Yep.
- 51:13Speaker 2: But they're going to be there. They're always good, and
- 51:15Speaker 2: I like the staff.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Agreed. Okay, and then that brought us to number two,
- 51:20Speaker 1: which was the Broncos. We both had Broncos at number two.
- 51:22Speaker 1: I agree with you. I feel like this is the
- 51:24Speaker 1: most slept-on team– In the NFL. They can make an
- 51:28Speaker 1: argument for number one. They should have been in the
- 51:30Speaker 1: Super Bowl last year. Now, I get the whole Jonathan
- 51:32Speaker 1: Cooper situation is not good. He's on the commissioner's exempt list.
- 51:36Speaker 1: They do have pretty deep pass rushers, though. And then
- 51:38Speaker 1: they added Jalen Waddell, a first-round all-pro player. And we
- 51:44Speaker 1: know all the metrics say that Nix likes to drive
- 51:47Speaker 1: the ball deep. He just hasn't had a true vertical threat. Well,
- 51:50Speaker 1: now he has a number one wide receiver to go
- 51:53Speaker 1: along with You know, Cortland Sutton, who's still a pretty
- 51:55Speaker 1: good possession receiver. They love Pat Bryant as a slot.
- 51:59Speaker 1: Their offensive line is one of the best. Yeah. You know,
- 52:02Speaker 1: I mean, like there's, this team is basically last year's team,
- 52:06Speaker 1: but with Jalen Waddle. I know they lost John Franklin.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Without Cooper, without Cooper's on the commissioner's exemplist, I believe.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Correct. That's the only thing. Now, if he winds up
- 52:15Speaker 1: getting cleared and fine, then to me, they are the
- 52:17Speaker 1: team to beat in the AFC.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Because that, honestly, the one issue they have, yes, Benito Studd,
- 52:23Speaker 2: But without Cooper, and we have no idea when and
- 52:25Speaker 2: if he's coming back.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 52:28Speaker 2: It's tough. Jonah Ellis is sort of a tweener.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Zach Allen's a good player, though. I know he's
- 52:32Speaker 1: not an edge rusher, but he's a front guy.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a front guy. Right, right. He's still a
- 52:35Speaker 2: good player. Jonah, another one of Luke Ellis' kids. I
- 52:36Speaker 2: don't know how many kids he's got. Yeah. It's a
- 52:38Speaker 2: little bit of an issue. Zach Allen is a good player.
- 52:42Speaker 2: But between Sutton, Waddle, Pat Bryant, they have guys who
- 52:45Speaker 2: could run to Mims and Franklin. Evan Ingram is their
- 52:49Speaker 2: move tight end. Adam Troutman is the wide. They're loaded
- 52:52Speaker 2: at running back with Harvey. Dobbins has done a great job.
- 52:55Speaker 2: And Jonah Coleman, I know they're very high on his
- 52:57Speaker 2: fourth rounder this year out of Washington. Yeah. They're better
- 53:00Speaker 2: than the Chiefs. I don't understand why the oddsmakers have
- 53:02Speaker 2: the Chiefs winning that division. We'll see if I'm right
- 53:04Speaker 2: or wrong. I don't see it.
- 53:05Speaker 1: That is crazy to me. I can't even fathom why.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I mean, the Broncos are just loaded. And we're going
- 53:11Speaker 1: to get to see if Davis Webb does anything as
- 53:14Speaker 1: a play caller that even makes the offense take up
- 53:16Speaker 1: another one.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Guys, I don't have the Chiefs as a playoff team,
- 53:18Speaker 2: and I do radio on Kansas City. I'm going to
- 53:20Speaker 2: get bleeped on Thursday.
- 53:21Speaker 1: I don't either. You and I both agree. I didn't
- 53:23Speaker 1: have them there.
- 53:25Speaker 2: This is what I think. This is what I know.
- 53:27Speaker 2: I ask people who work in the NFL business, what
- 53:30Speaker 2: do you think? When they look at their tape, they
- 53:33Speaker 2: just don't see it. Nobody sees that him as a
- 53:35Speaker 2: playoff team that I've talked to. So we'll see if
- 53:36Speaker 2: I'm right or wrong.
- 53:38Speaker 1: And not shockingly, we both have the same number one
- 53:40Speaker 1: as number two, and that's the Rams. I mean, it's
- 53:42Speaker 1: pretty obvious reasons they got. I thought that they were
- 53:45Speaker 1: the best combination of offense and defense last year. They
- 53:47Speaker 1: didn't have a great defense, but their offense was great.
- 53:50Speaker 1: They scored willingly against the Seahawks in the games that
- 53:54Speaker 1: they played against them, but their special teams failed them miserably.
- 53:57Speaker 1: And that's why they weren't in the Super Bowl. I
- 53:59Speaker 1: think they would have beaten the Patriots if they had
- 54:01Speaker 1: made it there. And obviously they just reloaded with some incredible,
- 54:05Speaker 1: like getting Miles Garrett, Aaron Donald coming back, Trent McDuffie.
- 54:08Speaker 1: They took care of their weaknesses in a way that
- 54:11Speaker 1: most teams can't say that they did. So, you know,
- 54:14Speaker 1: I know that they're all the pressures on them, Adam,
- 54:16Speaker 1: because now they're dubbed the super team. But I mean,
- 54:19Speaker 1: how do you argue with it? They're not great on,
- 54:23Speaker 1: as far as depth on the O-line there, there's a
- 54:26Speaker 1: legal issue.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Very weak.
- 54:29Speaker 1: But they've always been that way, right? They've always been.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Get away with it.
- 54:32Speaker 2: Get away with it. Yeah. I mean, and the depth
- 54:35Speaker 2: of receiver, that's why they traded for Tutu Atwell. It
- 54:38Speaker 2: never did anything for that better return. That is why,
- 54:42Speaker 2: by the way, if you want to know why Sean
- 54:44Speaker 2: McVay went out of his comfort zone and went with
- 54:45Speaker 2: so much 12 and 13 personnel, lack of quality depth
- 54:49Speaker 2: of receiver. He just, he had to do it and
- 54:52Speaker 2: he knew they were in trouble. So they actually, they
- 54:54Speaker 2: traded for Tutu. It was with the Dolphins.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Overloaded a tight end they're good at recorum is one
- 54:59Speaker 2: of the best backup running backs in the nfl stafford's
- 55:01Speaker 2: elite yep he's probably gonna be hall of famer yep
- 55:04Speaker 2: now they're good they cannot afford an offensive line injury
- 55:07Speaker 2: at all they're just in they're in trouble but they're
- 55:10Speaker 2: super deep now a corner finally with what the two
- 55:13Speaker 2: kansas city corners uh quentin lake who's their joker sort
- 55:18Speaker 2: of safety dickle and curl and and kinshasa and Emmanuel
- 55:23Speaker 2: Forbes is not a bad backup corner. He's just not.
- 55:26Speaker 1: They were winning games with him as a starting corner.
- 55:29Speaker 2: I know. That's why they went overboard a corner and
- 55:31Speaker 2: spent all the money. Yep. No, they should be the
- 55:34Speaker 2: number one team. Doesn't mean they're going to win the
- 55:35Speaker 2: Super Bowl. You see this in sports when everybody says
- 55:37Speaker 2: the team's going to be great, something happens. Yes. But
- 55:40Speaker 2: on paper, they're the best.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 55:45Speaker 1: long lines. We've all been there. But when it comes
- 55:48Speaker 1: to your cannabis... Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is

- 56:26Speaker 1: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 56:30Speaker 1: service members, and healthcare pros. Camden Apothecary, top quality cannabis,
- 56:36Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans 21
- 56:39Speaker 1: and up. All right, so the Rams are the number
- 56:42Speaker 1: one team. So good stuff there. To recap real quick,
- 56:45Speaker 1: Adam's top 10 are 10-1 Jags, Texans, Bears, Bills, Eagles, Ravens, Patriots, Seahawks, Broncos, Rams.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Mine from 10-1 are Chargers, Eagles, Niners, Bills, Texans, Patriots, Seahawks, Ravens, Broncos, Rams.
- 56:59Speaker 1: So we pretty much had the same. You had the Bears.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I didn't. I had the Chargers. You didn't. So that's
- 57:05Speaker 1: basically it. Wow.
- 57:06Speaker 2: You didn't have the Bears?
- 57:09Speaker 1: Adam, that defense, I can't.
- 57:11Speaker 2: I know you're looking at the talent. I get it. Now,
- 57:16Speaker 2: Jalen Johnson at corner, they had so many injuries last season.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Yeah. So many injuries. The NFC North, I like... the
- 57:25Speaker 1: Packers and Lions. And I think that they're all going
- 57:27Speaker 1: to beat each other up, which means one of those
- 57:30Speaker 1: teams will probably be a top 10 team. But I'm
- 57:33Speaker 1: not going to put the Packers. So they were one
- 57:35Speaker 1: of my outside looking in. I think they're going to
- 57:37Speaker 1: finally start to throw the ball around a little bit.
- 57:39Speaker 1: And I like their three.
- 57:40Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing.
- 57:41Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 57:42Speaker 2: If Caleb Johnson, the Steelers didn't want him, they might
- 57:45Speaker 2: have caught him if they couldn't trade him. They just
- 57:46Speaker 2: didn't want him. But he does fit what they want
- 57:48Speaker 2: to run the ball first. Matt LaFleur, I can't stand
- 57:51Speaker 2: as a play caller. What it is, he is so
- 57:55Speaker 2: married to running the football. They are so deep at receiver.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Their pass target group is super deep, but he doesn't
- 58:02Speaker 2: take advantage of it. And remember, Parsons is on PUP, okay? Yep.
- 58:08Speaker 2: Josh Jacobs, he's on the commissioner's exemplars. We don't know
- 58:10Speaker 2: when and if he's going to play. That's killer. Marshawn
- 58:15Speaker 2: Lloyd is always hurt, okay?
- 58:18Speaker 1: Super exposed to third-round pick, but always hurt, yeah.
- 58:21Speaker 2: I mean, he's talented. Well, I just.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Remember when they had issues running the ball prior to
- 58:27Speaker 1: signing Josh Jacobs, so 2023, that's when they threw the
- 58:31Speaker 1: ball more and you saw Jordan Love just explode. So
- 58:34Speaker 1: I almost think that their issue– well, they did it
- 58:36Speaker 1: that year in 2020. He had like 600 and something
- 58:38Speaker 1: pass attempts. So if they get to 500.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Attempts– He's not going to do it. Yeah, but if
- 58:42Speaker 2: they could run the ball, if they could combine Lloyd
- 58:46Speaker 2: and Johnson, who does fit, he does fit their scheme better. Mm-hmm. he's,
- 58:52Speaker 2: they're going to ball control. That's what he wants in
- 58:55Speaker 2: the playoffs. He gets so tight as a playoff play caller,
- 58:58Speaker 2: Matt LaFleur. Right. It is what it is.
- 59:00Speaker 1: But you're right. I have a blind spot there. I
- 59:02Speaker 1: should have an NFC North team in my top 10
- 59:04Speaker 1: and I don't.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Wow. You don't have one.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I just don't know what it would be. I just
- 59:08Speaker 1: don't know that it would be the Bears if I
- 59:10Speaker 1: were to pick one. The Lions got a lot of firepower, man.
- 59:14Speaker 1: And once they get those safeties back, and they will
- 59:16Speaker 1: be back, playing a third-place schedule. They got a problem
- 59:22Speaker 1: at corner.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Remember Terry and Arnold?
- 59:23Speaker 1: They always have a problem at corner. They always win
- 59:25Speaker 1: double-digit games.
- 59:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but that doesn't mean they're going to be a
- 59:28Speaker 2: playoff team.
- 59:29Speaker 1: No, but the top 10 would be a playoff team.
- 59:32Speaker 1: I would have them.
- 59:34Speaker 2: If I had to put 11 and 12, it would
- 59:35Speaker 2: be the Packers and Lions. And Chiefs, somewhere around there.
- 59:38Speaker 1: Yeah. That's fair. Well, that's why I don't have them
- 59:41Speaker 1: in my top 10 either.
- 59:42Speaker 2: All right.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Good stuff. That is our annual bottom five, top 10.
- 59:46Speaker 1: And now it's up to the NFL to play it out,
- 59:48Speaker 1: and we'll see what happens. That's going to do it
- 59:50Speaker 1: for this episode of Inside the Birds, the leading podcast
- 59:53Speaker 1: in Eagles Intel. And as always, we thank you for
