- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to a very outspoken Christmas. We're coming
- 0:06Speaker 1: to you on Christmas Eve, one of our favorite days
- 0:08Speaker 1: of the year. It's also three years since you guys
- 0:11Speaker 1: got engaged, not to each other. Yeah, the joint engagement.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I can't believe it's been that long ago, but I
- 0:16Speaker 1: suppose we've already had the weddings. See, that's cheeky of
- 0:18Speaker 1: the boys, though, because you can't really do something to
- 0:21Speaker 1: celebrate an anniversary on Christmas Eve, can you? That's unlike
- 0:23Speaker 1: you to find the negative in the situation. And to think, Amy,
- 0:26Speaker 1: three years on and we're both pregnant at the same time, too.
- 0:28Speaker 1: We've got to stop sharing these milestones together. It's also
- 0:32Speaker 1: crazily for OG listeners, been five years since I wore
- 0:35Speaker 1: my shorts inside out on my Christmas Eve shop. And
- 0:39Speaker 1: literally looked like a superhero with inbuilt undies out. You
- 0:42Speaker 1: were also rocking this terrible tan. So your tan had
- 0:45Speaker 1: gone off. You looked like the Grinch walking around the Audi.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I want to give a tip and it's taken me
- 0:50Speaker 1: a long time to learn this for anyone who is
- 0:52Speaker 1: doing their Christmas pre-tan, which I think you probably should
- 0:56Speaker 1: have already done by now. I wouldn't do it the
- 0:58Speaker 1: day before Christmas. Don't shame anyone because there are going
- 1:00Speaker 1: to be some last minute tanners. I mean, it's hard
- 1:02Speaker 1: with Christmas Eve falling on a Wednesday to do the
- 1:05Speaker 1: math of when to actually do your tan. But I
- 1:07Speaker 1: was looking so green because I never cleaned my mitt.
- 1:10Speaker 1: So it had a lot of old tan on there,
- 1:12Speaker 1: which was making me look like the Grinch. See, after
- 1:14Speaker 1: hearing this, I went out and bought a new mitt. Yeah,
- 1:17Speaker 1: my friend gave me that recommendation. So hang on, you
- 1:19Speaker 1: never clean your mitt after you do your tan? No. What?
- 1:21Speaker 1: I just put it back in the thing. That's why
- 1:23Speaker 1: I was looking so green. It wasn't Bondi Sands' fault.
- 1:25Speaker 1: It was my fault. I got a PSA here. I'm sorry,
- 1:28Speaker 1: Bondi Sands. I'm actually in shock that you don't wash
- 1:31Speaker 1: the mitt. I do it every time after I tan.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Sophie doesn't tan often. I tan weekly. Sophie is a
- 1:35Speaker 1: secret grub. So this does not surprise me. Everybody who
- 1:38Speaker 1: knows Sophie, they think she's so put together because she
- 1:41Speaker 1: puts across his image. I don't think they do. No,
- 1:43Speaker 1: they do. I think after they've heard about my towels,
- 1:45Speaker 1: I don't think anyone thinks I'm put together. So when
- 1:47Speaker 1: is the right time to do your Christmas day tan?
- 1:50Speaker 1: Because I know a lot of people are finding it
- 1:52Speaker 1: hard to navigate with New Year's Eve. I mean, I'm
- 1:54Speaker 1: not even doing anything. Let's do it twice. Look, I've
- 1:57Speaker 1: already been trying to make changes in my weekly routine.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So I set myself up a few weeks in advance.
- 2:04Speaker 1: So three weeks before Christmas, I started doing a tan
- 2:08Speaker 1: on a Saturday night. Clearly, I wasn't up to much
- 2:11Speaker 1: or a Sunday night. So then my tan routine was
- 2:14Speaker 1: starting earlier in the week and I was looking good
- 2:16Speaker 1: all week. How? fucked while you're pregnant that's what I
- 2:19Speaker 1: have no idea because I hadn't done a tan for
- 2:22Speaker 1: six months I think the last time I did was
- 2:23Speaker 1: at my baby shower and only did my arms and
- 2:26Speaker 1: then of course whilst Jack's been here I have had
- 2:28Speaker 1: no time but I do have to say I felt
- 2:30Speaker 1: like a completely different person with a tan on look
- 2:32Speaker 1: I'm falling into the indie Clinton camp I listened to
- 2:35Speaker 1: the interview that you did with her yeah this is
- 2:37Speaker 1: for my mental health I'm not feeling like myself at
- 2:40Speaker 1: the moment I'm Already obviously seeing changes in my body.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I want to put my best foot forward. I still
- 2:45Speaker 1: want to feel like me. But you're 13 weeks pregnant, Sophie.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Wait till you've actually got a bump. I do look different.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I've been so bloated. Because you do feel different. I do.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I've got these big tits out of nowhere. I don't know. Well,
- 2:57Speaker 1: for me, I mean, they're fucking tiny for anyone else,
- 2:59Speaker 1: but I feel like a different person and I feel
- 3:01Speaker 1: more like me if I'm doing my tan. Maybe when
- 3:03Speaker 1: I get further in, I won't give a fuck. So
- 3:05Speaker 1: we've got it that people shouldn't be doing their tans today.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It's too close to Christmas day. I want to talk
- 3:11Speaker 1: about what we've got planned for Christmas Eve. What have
- 3:14Speaker 1: we all got planned? Obviously, this is pre-recorded. So, well,
- 3:17Speaker 1: we have the same Christmas Eve tradition every year where
- 3:21Speaker 1: we like to watch Carols by Candlelight. And every year
- 3:24Speaker 1: we go to our mum and dad's house for dinner.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Our mum usually puts on a Christmas dinner. So there'll
- 3:29Speaker 1: be chickens and veggies. Which is quite funny because then
- 3:33Speaker 1: we end up having the same thing three nights in
- 3:35Speaker 1: a row because we also have Boxing Day with our
- 3:37Speaker 1: auntie and uncle. This year I think we might do
- 3:39Speaker 1: something different though. Really? For Christmas Eve. I think we
- 3:42Speaker 1: were discussing that. Maybe not. a chicken dinner because, as
- 3:45Speaker 1: you said, you get so sick of it. See, I
- 3:46Speaker 1: thought we were going to be doing something different for
- 3:48Speaker 1: your Christmas dinner at your house, Amy, because normally we
- 3:51Speaker 1: do the roast. No, but I thought we were going
- 3:52Speaker 1: to be doing salads. Yeah, yeah, all of that. A
- 3:54Speaker 1: barbecue would be quite nice for Christmas. Yeah, so Christmas
- 3:57Speaker 1: dinner is at Dale and my house. So a lot
- 4:00Speaker 1: of my Christmas Eve is going to be spent eating Cleaning, cooking,
- 4:04Speaker 1: all of those fun things. I think we need to
- 4:06Speaker 1: have a chat about who's bringing what and make it
- 4:08Speaker 1: really easy on you because you are going to be, what,
- 4:10Speaker 1: like 23 weeks pregnant. Yeah, well, that was Leah Estinas'
- 4:12Speaker 1: advice in our Christmas episode. She's like, you need to
- 4:14Speaker 1: delegate things. Mum's already organised the chickens. We're going to
- 4:18Speaker 1: organise who's doing what salads, what desserts, all of that
- 4:20Speaker 1: fun stuff. I think one of our friends has the
- 4:22Speaker 1: right idea. She is staying in a hotel on Christmas
- 4:25Speaker 1: Eve with her Nana and sisters and then in the morning–
- 4:28Speaker 1: they're waking up to this beautiful buffet breakfast and they're
- 4:31Speaker 1: just chilling at the hotel. So no one has to
- 4:33Speaker 1: do any of the cooking duties. See, we had a
- 4:35Speaker 1: family function with our mom's side of the family who
- 4:38Speaker 1: not all of us are seeing on Christmas day. And
- 4:40Speaker 1: it was actually so nice. We went to a pub
- 4:41Speaker 1: and it actually meant that everyone could socialize. And I
- 4:43Speaker 1: was like, I could actually see that working on Christmas day,
- 4:46Speaker 1: but I think you'd maybe go back to someone's house
- 4:48Speaker 1: and have dessert. So there's that element of home cooking.
- 4:51Speaker 1: You know what? That's just how it feels probably being
- 4:53Speaker 1: a man. I know I'm being stereotypical here, but the
- 4:56Speaker 1: fact that they Most of them wipe their hands. I
- 4:59Speaker 1: have no responsibility. Do you know what I've noticed? And
- 5:01Speaker 1: it's a real pet peeve of mine, is that there
- 5:03Speaker 1: will generally be a text message sent around asking the
- 5:07Speaker 1: woman what they're bringing. It'll be like, or delegating. So Sophie,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you can bring this. Sorry, why is my partner not
- 5:13Speaker 1: having to be involved in this? But isn't it most
- 5:14Speaker 1: likely because, again, generalizing, the husband's too hopeless to even
- 5:19Speaker 1: remember to bring something. But that's an excuse. Like my
- 5:20Speaker 1: partner has got away with that excuse so many times.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Like he... We were double booked for this Christmas family
- 5:27Speaker 1: catch up. He had one on at the same day.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And I specifically said to him, block out this day.
- 5:32Speaker 1: This is when we're catching up with my family. I
- 5:34Speaker 1: was mindful. What day are you catching up with yours?
- 5:37Speaker 1: I didn't read the message. I don't have a calendar.
- 5:40Speaker 1: That is purposely done. Fucking get one. Because what happens
- 5:43Speaker 1: then is- I feel like the pregnancy hormones are kicking in.
- 5:44Speaker 1: He's just going rogue on bread. I'm just saying, I
- 5:47Speaker 1: just don't like the excuse of men. It's kind of like,
- 5:49Speaker 1: I don't have to have a calendar. I don't have
- 5:51Speaker 1: to be across it. See, that is done purposely because
- 5:53Speaker 1: what happens is the guy's family gets so over having
- 5:58Speaker 1: to go to them that then they just go straight
- 6:00Speaker 1: to you and you have to organise their calendar. Do
- 6:03Speaker 1: you know what annoys me? And we're probably generalising based
- 6:06Speaker 1: on our partners, but they all go, oh, I don't
- 6:08Speaker 1: like Christmas. I'm thinking, why? You get to rock up,
- 6:11Speaker 1: eat nice food. You don't have to organise any of
- 6:13Speaker 1: the gifts except the gift that you give your partner.
- 6:15Speaker 1: No mental load of it. I keep seeing all these
- 6:17Speaker 1: memes saying that it's actually women organising who create all
- 6:20Speaker 1: of the magic of Christmas. And I tend to say
- 6:23Speaker 1: that that is quite true. Apart from our father. Our father,
- 6:26Speaker 1: he really created our love for Christmas and mum by
- 6:30Speaker 1: putting up Christmas lights, by having the tradition of getting
- 6:33Speaker 1: the tree. This episode has turned into... The BBC's Grumpy Christmas,
- 6:37Speaker 1: Grumpy Women's Christmas. Thank you for not adding Grumpy Old
- 6:40Speaker 1: Woman Christmas. Grumpy Midlife. One thing I noticed last year,
- 6:44Speaker 1: which Dale actually, that was sort of his job, was
- 6:47Speaker 1: the drinks. Like it's their job to get the ice,
- 6:50Speaker 1: to organise it on the day. Remember Dad on Christmas
- 6:53Speaker 1: Day because Mum and Dad hosted Christmas at their house
- 6:56Speaker 1: last year. And it meant that our Christmas Eve was
- 7:00Speaker 1: a little bit shit because they're all stressing. So there
- 7:02Speaker 1: was this whole debacle on how to set up the
- 7:05Speaker 1: table because mum had probably what, like 25 of her
- 7:09Speaker 1: relatives over in the lounge room. And it was the
- 7:12Speaker 1: biggest deal ever that they had to move a couch.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And then we had to have all the tables set
- 7:17Speaker 1: up on Christmas Eve. So we couldn't watch carols by candlelight.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'm actually so relieved they're not having it there. And
- 7:22Speaker 1: then Christmas morning, We rushed to get there. Dad was
- 7:26Speaker 1: not his usual festive self. And he was organizing drinks
- 7:29Speaker 1: in the Esky. And we're like, where is he? Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 1: What's he doing? And that was his one job he
- 7:33Speaker 1: had to do. He picks up the chickens. He picks
- 7:35Speaker 1: up the chickens as well. They act like it's so complicated. Like, oh,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I have to go and get some ice from the
- 7:39Speaker 1: petrol station. Well, we've deviated a bit. We were meant
- 7:42Speaker 1: to be talking about what we were doing Christmas Eve, but.
- 7:44Speaker 1: After dinner on Christmas Eve, we normally go for a
- 7:47Speaker 1: light walk around our parents' area because they have the
- 7:49Speaker 1: best Christmas lights. Everyone goes nuts. It's so beautiful. And
- 7:52Speaker 1: they're all such tasteful displays. That's what I love. This
- 7:56Speaker 1: year I'm hoping because normally after we go to mum
- 7:58Speaker 1: and dad's house, I come home and stay up really
- 8:01Speaker 1: late wrapping the presents that I should have wrapped earlier
- 8:03Speaker 1: that day or, you know, weeks in advance. So every
- 8:06Speaker 1: time I've picked up a gift or a parcel has arrived,
- 8:08Speaker 1: I've made sure I've wrapped it straight away. So I'm hoping,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I'm not jinxing myself, that I won't have too many
- 8:13Speaker 1: things to wrap Christmas Eve. I did the same thing
- 8:15Speaker 1: but then I have been screwed over by Australia Post.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I've got all these messages being like, your package may
- 8:20Speaker 1: not even arrive in time despite me– ordering it weeks
- 8:24Speaker 1: in advance you guys always pay me out for being
- 8:25Speaker 1: disorganized do you see the Christmas presents wrapped up in
- 8:28Speaker 1: their beautiful I'm in retro yeah but you said you
- 8:30Speaker 1: haven't got dad's gift yet that's gonna screw you over
- 8:33Speaker 1: no I'm going to the train shop I'm gonna get
- 8:35Speaker 1: something what about my Christmas lights because that's something that
- 8:37Speaker 1: Dale and I got into this year we've done a
- 8:39Speaker 1: huge Christmas light display all ready for baby eight to
- 8:42Speaker 1: join the world and Kate also for Jack to see
- 8:44Speaker 1: yeah he hasn't seen them yet I mean he's gonna
- 8:46Speaker 1: see them Christmas day maybe the white party so we
- 8:48Speaker 1: have an annual white party that we hold We started
- 8:52Speaker 1: using the word white party, I think before friendmas was
- 8:54Speaker 1: a thing, because this has been running, I think it's probably,
- 8:56Speaker 1: we need to check the calendars. Is this 10th year?
- 8:58Speaker 1: It would be. No, it's more than that. We started
- 9:01Speaker 1: it in 2011. Oh, wow. Because that whole incident. It
- 9:05Speaker 1: was a police incident. There was an incident that we
- 9:08Speaker 1: won't get into involving ex-boyfriends. Someone had to be reported
- 9:11Speaker 1: because we were worried they were going to come up
- 9:13Speaker 1: and beat up another. One ex-boyfriend threatened to beat up
- 9:16Speaker 1: at the white. Anyway, it was. Oh, was that at
- 9:18Speaker 1: the white party? It would have been the red party.
- 9:19Speaker 1: But anyway, it was. There was that incident and that
- 9:21Speaker 1: was in 2012, but our first real white party was
- 9:24Speaker 1: a year before that. Oh, okay. See, I've literally deleted
- 9:28Speaker 1: that from my mind. Well, the white party this year
- 9:31Speaker 1: is at my house. It seems to always be at
- 9:33Speaker 1: Dale and my house most of the time. Well, you
- 9:35Speaker 1: demand it to be at yours because I did have
- 9:37Speaker 1: it at mine, but then everyone didn't want to trek
- 9:39Speaker 1: up the hill to my house. But now Sophie lives
- 9:41Speaker 1: five minutes away. Well, the rules of the white party
- 9:43Speaker 1: are pretty simple. You have to wear white. I hate
- 9:47Speaker 1: when people don't. Like a few people are sometimes rocked
- 9:49Speaker 1: up in it clothes that are a little off-white and
- 9:51Speaker 1: you're like, and the other rule is that everybody must
- 9:54Speaker 1: participate in our made-up game, Can of Worms. There used
- 9:57Speaker 1: to be a show called Can of Worms that Chrissy
- 9:59Speaker 1: Swan would host. but we have a different version where
- 10:01Speaker 1: it's like really outrageous, sometimes embarrassing questions that you have
- 10:05Speaker 1: to answer. And this year, because most of the time
- 10:09Speaker 1: everyone rocks up to the party, we'll have some pieces
- 10:11Speaker 1: of paper, some pens around and everyone scribbles down their
- 10:14Speaker 1: question and puts them in the bowl, but we've gone
- 10:16Speaker 1: high tech. Yeah. So I made one of those NGL
- 10:19Speaker 1: links up and I've added it to the Facebook invite.
- 10:21Speaker 1: So I think only one question has been submitted so far.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Because Dale's friends think that they don't get NGL and
- 10:27Speaker 1: they think that you can see who submitted it. And
- 10:29Speaker 1: I'm like, no, that's the whole point of it. It's anonymous.
- 10:32Speaker 1: We actually have a friend who is a radio announcer
- 10:36Speaker 1: and he is a veteran on the air. You would
- 10:39Speaker 1: say he's got so much experience in radio. And he
- 10:42Speaker 1: actually reads all the questions out and it is hilarious
- 10:44Speaker 1: because what happens is normally you sit next to Dom,
- 10:47Speaker 1: don't you, Amy? And then we've got the questions in
- 10:49Speaker 1: a bowl and you pick it out and you pass
- 10:51Speaker 1: it to him because we did trial people reading their
- 10:54Speaker 1: own questions out, but we found that people were cheating
- 10:57Speaker 1: and not actually reading them out. We share the hosting duty.
- 11:00Speaker 1: So he'll ask one question and I'll ask the next question.
- 11:02Speaker 1: To be fair though, I find you pretty piss-waking can
- 11:04Speaker 1: of worms. You always seem to get out of it
- 11:06Speaker 1: because there is an out. So last year, we had,
- 11:09Speaker 1: if there was a question that you really didn't want
- 11:11Speaker 1: to answer, you could either take a shot or for
- 11:13Speaker 1: those not drinking, you would have to have a suck
- 11:16Speaker 1: a lemon. See, I don't think we give people the
- 11:17Speaker 1: out this year or the out actually has to be
- 11:20Speaker 1: worse because like, I mean, I obviously don't want you
- 11:22Speaker 1: two drinking when you're pregnant, but like that needs to
- 11:24Speaker 1: be something more. We were dabbling with the idea of
- 11:30Speaker 1: If you don't want to answer something, we would implement
- 11:32Speaker 1: a new rule like Uno where there was a reverse situation.
- 11:35Speaker 1: You had a card that you could pull out that
- 11:37Speaker 1: was reverse or you could direct a question to someone.
- 11:39Speaker 1: But we thought that that might get out of hand.
- 11:41Speaker 1: It's really complicated. Could it just be a truth or
- 11:43Speaker 1: dare situation where if you don't answer the truth, as
- 11:45Speaker 1: in the question, you have to do a dare? Yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 1: but it just derails it. It takes too long. Look,
- 11:50Speaker 1: here's some examples. These are some of the tame ones. No,
- 11:53Speaker 1: do a rude one. I've got them here. What would
- 11:56Speaker 1: you do if someone's partner was flirting with you? What
- 11:59Speaker 1: are your biggest icks? What are three attributes you look
- 12:02Speaker 1: for in a partner? These are bloody lame. These are
- 12:04Speaker 1: not an indication of what it is. Let's put this
- 12:07Speaker 1: into perspective. This game has caused a lot of personal
- 12:10Speaker 1: issues with people that have played the game because if
- 12:13Speaker 1: you've been at a lot of parties, sometimes the questions
- 12:15Speaker 1: get targeted and always like, this is a good one. Sorry.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Who's got the more annoying family, you or your partner? Well,
- 12:21Speaker 1: there's questions. There's a lot of like sexual questions about like,
- 12:24Speaker 1: how many times a week do you and your partner
- 12:26Speaker 1: have sex? And That actually did cause a bit of
- 12:29Speaker 1: trouble last year because not from the people who answered it,
- 12:32Speaker 1: but then other people started weighing in and there was
- 12:34Speaker 1: a lot of comparison going on. And I mean, one
- 12:37Speaker 1: that always gets thrown in there is what is your
- 12:39Speaker 1: favorite type of porn? Which for some reason, it just,
- 12:43Speaker 1: I don't know why. It always gets asked to the
- 12:44Speaker 1: same person. Yeah, the same guy always gets it. Well,
- 12:47Speaker 1: we don't want to hear it again. I remember last year,
- 12:49Speaker 1: one of our friends got the question, who would you marry,
- 12:52Speaker 1: fuck and kill at the table? And another friend was
- 12:56Speaker 1: really disappointed because she wouldn't answer. Oh, sorry, it was
- 12:58Speaker 1: who would you marry, fuck, and kill between Kate, Sophie,
- 13:01Speaker 1: and I? And so another friend was really pissed off
- 13:04Speaker 1: because this girl, she didn't answer because she didn't want
- 13:07Speaker 1: to say she'd kill one of us. So she said, oh,
- 13:09Speaker 1: I'd marry so-and-so, I'd fuck so-and-so, but I can't kill
- 13:12Speaker 1: any of them. And he's like, you need to say
- 13:14Speaker 1: who you're going to kill. This is the game. These
- 13:17Speaker 1: are the rules. Look, I mean, I think what also
- 13:19Speaker 1: makes it awkward is that particularly when partners are involved.
- 13:23Speaker 1: So one partner might be a bit more reserved and
- 13:25Speaker 1: not willing to answer any questions, but then their partner
- 13:28Speaker 1: is going to reveal stuff about them. So, I mean,
- 13:30Speaker 1: it does make it awkward when you've got family members there,
- 13:32Speaker 1: because we do have a few family members at this event.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I know. It seems like our little cousins always get
- 13:36Speaker 1: sexual questions. You're like, I don't want to hear the answer.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I always jump in and I'm like, they don't have
- 13:39Speaker 1: to answer that, even though they're literally adults and everyone's like,
- 13:42Speaker 1: you're making it worse. Yeah. Seeing as this is an
- 13:44Speaker 1: influencer podcast, I want to know what your opinions are
- 13:48Speaker 1: on some of the influencer Christmas trees that have been
- 13:50Speaker 1: getting around because I've been quite surprised at the quality
- 13:53Speaker 1: of some of them. See, I had intentions of making
- 13:56Speaker 1: a reel about it. I mean, if this goes out
- 13:57Speaker 1: and the reel's already gone up, claps to me because
- 14:00Speaker 1: I've actually done it. Props to you, do you mean?
- 14:02Speaker 1: Props to me, whatever. But I have been screen recording
- 14:05Speaker 1: every influencer's Christmas tree. I was absolutely shocked when I
- 14:09Speaker 1: saw Tammy Hembrose. That girl was worth over $ 50 million
- 14:12Speaker 1: and the tree looks like a bloody toilet brush. Let's
- 14:15Speaker 1: just add in a trigger warning here because people get
- 14:17Speaker 1: really sensitive. This is clearly just a joke. Everybody's Christmas
- 14:20Speaker 1: tree is magical in their own way. No, it's not.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I'm sorry. It's not. Some of them are terrible. I
- 14:25Speaker 1: was so interested to see Ashley Bynes because last year
- 14:28Speaker 1: we did a topic on how she was going to
- 14:30Speaker 1: give her old toilet brush Christmas tree away to someone
- 14:33Speaker 1: who was affected by the floods. Well, she was shamed
- 14:36Speaker 1: for it. It was an awful tree. We said, God,
- 14:38Speaker 1: these people have gone through enough. Don't give them your tree.
- 14:40Speaker 1: It was the most awful tree I've ever seen. I
- 14:43Speaker 1: think hers was a little bit better this year. Yeah,
- 14:45Speaker 1: it was nicer. It was one of those trees that
- 14:47Speaker 1: had the frosting. There was a bit more effort put
- 14:49Speaker 1: in with the decorations. Maybe we should talk about some
- 14:51Speaker 1: of our rules of decorating a Christmas tree. No, I
- 14:52Speaker 1: want to go more about these influencer trees. I had
- 14:54Speaker 1: a lot to discuss. So Bec Judd, did you see
- 14:57Speaker 1: what she did? She did these cool like cutouts of
- 15:00Speaker 1: a Christmas tree and she said last time she shared
- 15:02Speaker 1: her Christmas tree, which I think was that. It was
- 15:05Speaker 1: made of sticks. Yeah, it was a stick one. I
- 15:06Speaker 1: think she said it was like going viral on the
- 15:09Speaker 1: Daily Mail or something. Yes, it did. It did. Everyone
- 15:11Speaker 1: was like, oh, with all that money, surely she could
- 15:13Speaker 1: afford more than some sticks. Well, it did look a
- 15:15Speaker 1: bit cold. Do you know one thing that really grinds
- 15:17Speaker 1: my gears is when people have a fake Christmas tree
- 15:19Speaker 1: and they don't put a Christmas tree skirt on it.
- 15:21Speaker 1: So as she binds, I just had a little look
- 15:23Speaker 1: back at hers. No Christmas tree skirt. It looks terrible.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Do you know whose tree looks amazing is Courtney Magnins
- 15:29Speaker 1: and she's done a Christmas tree skirt as well as
- 15:32Speaker 1: Christmas presents around the tree. No, she actually doesn't have
- 15:34Speaker 1: a skirt. She has the presents concealing the legs of
- 15:36Speaker 1: the tree. She put a lot of effort in this
- 15:38Speaker 1: year and she, I love Courtney because she always sticks
- 15:42Speaker 1: to the hottest trends. And this year, the hottest trend,
- 15:44Speaker 1: I think, for Christmas trees has been bows. And she
- 15:47Speaker 1: did this stunning huge bow on the top of the tree.
- 15:50Speaker 1: And you could tell that she put a lot of
- 15:52Speaker 1: effort into it because she did what you do, Kate,
- 15:54Speaker 1: and she redid her tree a number of times to
- 15:56Speaker 1: make sure she was happy with it. I have a
- 15:58Speaker 1: hot tip for people because I'm still doing my tree
- 16:01Speaker 1: at the moment. So Reese is like, what are you doing?
- 16:04Speaker 1: I am surprised you're still doing it. It's mostly done.
- 16:07Speaker 1: But what happened is I saw a TikTok and this
- 16:10Speaker 1: guy rates Christmas trees. And he's like, oh, this one's
- 16:13Speaker 1: very good, but they've still got the string on the decoration.
- 16:15Speaker 1: They really need ornament hooks. And I was like, that's
- 16:18Speaker 1: what's wrong with my Christmas tree. I have too many
- 16:20Speaker 1: decorations to put hooks on all of them. No, no, no.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You get them from Kmart. It is worth it. So
- 16:24Speaker 1: I have been taking all my decorations off, cutting the
- 16:26Speaker 1: string off and then putting the hook. And the great
- 16:28Speaker 1: thing is it allows you to manipulate the bauble onto
- 16:31Speaker 1: the branch in a cool position. And I also want
- 16:33Speaker 1: to say, I still think that you can have a
- 16:35Speaker 1: nice Christmas tree on a budget i think that the
- 16:38Speaker 1: key to having a nice christmas tree is making sure
- 16:41Speaker 1: that you de-poof the branches probably yeah you fluff the
- 16:44Speaker 1: tree out did you guys see that talia skeins went
- 16:46Speaker 1: viral because of how bad her christmas tree looked because
- 16:49Speaker 1: i did she basically ordered a christmas tree online that
- 16:52Speaker 1: was seven foot tall so she lives in bali it
- 16:55Speaker 1: was the only way she could get one in because
- 16:56Speaker 1: the stores don't sell christmas trees and it was touted
- 16:59Speaker 1: as being this luxury tree that was very expensive it
- 17:02Speaker 1: was like two grand or something yeah it was very
- 17:04Speaker 1: expensive rocks up it was thin as fuck and it
- 17:07Speaker 1: didn't have any branches like there was no way that
- 17:10Speaker 1: you could fluff this Christmas tree. I swear they were
- 17:12Speaker 1: trolling her. She ended up getting one of the guys
- 17:14Speaker 1: who've been working on the villa to come in and
- 17:16Speaker 1: actually cut bits of the tree off to try and
- 17:18Speaker 1: reconnect it. I would have returned it and have gone
- 17:21Speaker 1: absolutely nuts. Her only concern was she kept it because
- 17:25Speaker 1: she was scared about not getting one in time. She
- 17:27Speaker 1: has since got a new Christmas tree. I'd rather not
- 17:29Speaker 1: have one than that. Well this new Christmas tree still
- 17:30Speaker 1: looked a bit average it looked a lot better see
- 17:33Speaker 1: I remember her Christmas tree with Mitch third and it
- 17:36Speaker 1: had all it was that era of influences where they
- 17:39Speaker 1: just put like Louis Vuitton and Chanel like designer bags
- 17:42Speaker 1: yeah I mean I'm pretty sure that Talia was giving
- 17:45Speaker 1: her family and friends designer gifts on that I thought
- 17:48Speaker 1: it would be interesting to discuss how we go about
- 17:51Speaker 1: selecting gifts and what we spend because I know I
- 17:55Speaker 1: had a conversation with friends and it's so interesting to
- 17:57Speaker 1: hear what people's, not so much what their budget is,
- 18:00Speaker 1: but whether they do like a Kris Kringle or whether
- 18:02Speaker 1: you're buying everyone a gift. What about for partners this year?
- 18:05Speaker 1: Like what are you spending on your husbands? It's kind
- 18:08Speaker 1: of a pervy question. See, for Brandon and I, presents, well,
- 18:12Speaker 1: for Brandon in particular, I think presents are his love
- 18:14Speaker 1: language and it's his family's love language. So for them,
- 18:18Speaker 1: they love nothing more than buying something that people have
- 18:21Speaker 1: been dreaming about all year or something that they've really
- 18:23Speaker 1: thought about. But often it comes with a hefty price tag,
- 18:27Speaker 1: which is really difficult at this time of year when
- 18:29Speaker 1: everything is so expensive. I get really annoyed because we,
- 18:32Speaker 1: Brandon and I set a budget and then he'll often
- 18:35Speaker 1: try and go over it. But I don't like that
- 18:37Speaker 1: because I actually, I know this sounds like fucking lame
- 18:39Speaker 1: or whatever, but I love giving people presents almost more
- 18:42Speaker 1: than receiving it. And I get excited when I feel
- 18:45Speaker 1: like I've almost given a better present. Like See, we
- 18:48Speaker 1: normally each year, like the three of us and then
- 18:50Speaker 1: our partners will go in for a present for mum
- 18:52Speaker 1: and dad. But this year you wanted to make it
- 18:56Speaker 1: that we all give them a separate gift because you like...
- 18:59Speaker 1: The kudos of picking out a good gift and getting thanked.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I don't like the kudos, but I actually felt like
- 19:05Speaker 1: you were after the kudos because you'd be like, I
- 19:07Speaker 1: picked it. I wrapped it. Here you go. And I
- 19:09Speaker 1: felt like I was putting the money in, but I
- 19:11Speaker 1: was getting none of the. But I never said that.
- 19:13Speaker 1: It's just because I'm all or not. Not about the
- 19:15Speaker 1: rules because obviously now we've got Kate's son, Jack. He's
- 19:18Speaker 1: involved in the mix of presents. And sometimes when there's
- 19:22Speaker 1: a baby, then the parents get cut off. We're not
- 19:24Speaker 1: doing that this year. I was happy to be cut off. Yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 1: but we're not doing that. But I'm just saying next
- 19:30Speaker 1: year everyone's cut off. I'm joking. Maybe we have to
- 19:32Speaker 1: keep it fair. For one year we don't get cut off.
- 19:35Speaker 1: The only thing is I really like getting you to
- 19:37Speaker 1: a gift. It's more the partners when you're like, fuck,
- 19:40Speaker 1: what do I get a 36-year-old man who can buy
- 19:43Speaker 1: whatever he wants? But then it's on you because what
- 19:45Speaker 1: normally happens is I'll then pick something for Reese from
- 19:48Speaker 1: you guys and then you do it for yourself. partners.
- 19:50Speaker 1: And then you basically have to go quickly give it
- 19:52Speaker 1: to you to wrap in your wrapping paper or we
- 19:54Speaker 1: just wrap it. And, yeah, it kind of loses its
- 19:56Speaker 1: magic there. But yeah, maybe we should try a Kris Kringle.
- 20:00Speaker 1: We are doing one of those steal, the gift stealing
- 20:03Speaker 1: things with our cousins. Is it called Bad Santa? Maybe. Yeah,
- 20:06Speaker 1: I think it is. So I'm actually really looking forward
- 20:08Speaker 1: to that because I think everyone's just going to take
- 20:10Speaker 1: the piss and choose something funny. I still need to
- 20:12Speaker 1: get one. Yeah, I haven't got one. Shit. There's probably
- 20:14Speaker 1: going to be one of those. So another tradition that
- 20:16Speaker 1: we have is going late night shopping with our cousins on,
- 20:19Speaker 1: I think it's like usually like the 22nd of December.
- 20:21Speaker 1: And they will always leave. Well- One of our cousins
- 20:26Speaker 1: in particular will always leave his shopping to the last minute.
- 20:28Speaker 1: The only people he really has to buy presents for
- 20:30Speaker 1: is his brother and his parents. And he is literally
- 20:34Speaker 1: like so indecisive. I love him. He's incredible. He will
- 20:37Speaker 1: always be spending so long deciding which hand cream to
- 20:41Speaker 1: get his mom. It's like, just fucking go with the
- 20:43Speaker 1: Nadeo one. That's the one you've got every fucking year.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Just pick it out and pay for it and let's go.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I feel like when you're single on Christmas, there's nothing
- 20:52Speaker 1: worse than having to go to a family function when
- 20:56Speaker 1: all the oldies start questioning you and putting you in
- 20:59Speaker 1: the hot seat about, are you dating anyone? Or, oh,
- 21:02Speaker 1: is anyone on the scene? And you're just like, leave
- 21:04Speaker 1: me alone. On that, if you're having a Christmas day
- 21:07Speaker 1: event at your house, is it rude not to allow
- 21:10Speaker 1: someone's part, like new girlfriend there? It kind of reminds
- 21:13Speaker 1: me a bit of weddings. Like how long does the
- 21:15Speaker 1: person have to be dating? Well, I think it's up
- 21:17Speaker 1: to the person if they bring them and then they
- 21:18Speaker 1: should ask in advance, is it okay if I bring so-and-so?
- 21:22Speaker 1: So you know, like, it would be rude to rock
- 21:24Speaker 1: up with that person and not say that they're coming. Yeah.
- 21:27Speaker 1: It's interesting how long you should know someone before they
- 21:31Speaker 1: come to something like Christmas. I think it's all pretty
- 21:33Speaker 1: individual because do you need to be Instagram official before
- 21:36Speaker 1: you bring that person? Or do you actually have to
- 21:38Speaker 1: have a label on it? Well, I went to a
- 21:39Speaker 1: pretty intimate New Year's Eve party with Dale's friends before
- 21:43Speaker 1: I was actually official with Dale. Yeah. But I think
- 21:45Speaker 1: that going to something with people's friends is completely different
- 21:48Speaker 1: to going to something with people's mom and dad and
- 21:51Speaker 1: their potentially grandparents. But did Dale actually think that you
- 21:54Speaker 1: were official? Because I think men in general, they actually
- 21:58Speaker 1: don't think that you need to have the conversation. No,
- 22:00Speaker 1: I think it was more of a test to see
- 22:02Speaker 1: if I got along with his friends. Going back to
- 22:04Speaker 1: the Christmas, I just actually think that there's nothing worse
- 22:06Speaker 1: than spending Christmas with a bunch of people that you
- 22:08Speaker 1: don't know. Depends who they are. The joy of maybe
- 22:13Speaker 1: having this new relationship and dating someone and it's all
- 22:15Speaker 1: exciting is is the fact that you don't have to
- 22:17Speaker 1: spend Christmas with their family. You get to do whatever
- 22:19Speaker 1: you want to do and maybe you could catch up
- 22:21Speaker 1: at some stage in the day. Well, you could get
- 22:23Speaker 1: the ick from how that person behaves around their family
- 22:27Speaker 1: because a lot of people revert into how they behave
- 22:29Speaker 1: as children, like they sit on their ass and just
- 22:32Speaker 1: expect their parents to do stuff. It's probably good to
- 22:34Speaker 1: actually go to someone's Christmas before you make it official
- 22:37Speaker 1: because it might put you off. But I actually think
- 22:39Speaker 1: from the element of being someone that's already immersed in
- 22:42Speaker 1: the family, When someone does bring a new person to
- 22:45Speaker 1: Christmas or a family function, it's always really fun for
- 22:48Speaker 1: you because you don't necessarily like have to turn it on.
- 22:53Speaker 1: That person has to turn it on for you. But
- 22:55Speaker 1: you always feel bad for them. Like I always feel
- 22:56Speaker 1: like I try and take people under my wing. I remember, well,
- 22:59Speaker 1: not particularly in this case, but because I think it's
- 23:01Speaker 1: different because it was a male. So like when I
- 23:03Speaker 1: met my brother-in-law for the first time, well, we didn't
- 23:06Speaker 1: first meet him at Christmas. We'd met him beforehand, but
- 23:08Speaker 1: it was quite early on. And I was so excited
- 23:12Speaker 1: because it's that thing of like being able to find
- 23:15Speaker 1: out how they interact or what did they give each other?
- 23:19Speaker 1: You know, you get to find out what they give
- 23:20Speaker 1: each other on Christmas day. Like it's a given new partner,
- 23:23Speaker 1: because I remember back in the day, like I was
- 23:26Speaker 1: in a lot of those situationships and you're like, Do
- 23:29Speaker 1: I get them a gift? It wasn't even a situationship.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Your fucking boyfriend just didn't even bother to give you
- 23:34Speaker 1: a gift. I was actually talking about someone else. This
- 23:36Speaker 1: is reminding me. Sorry. No, but what you do if
- 23:39Speaker 1: you are in a situationship is it's like on the holiday.
- 23:41Speaker 1: You buy the backup gift. Just in case. You almost
- 23:44Speaker 1: need to buy something that you're prepared to just keep
- 23:47Speaker 1: if you don't end up giving it to them. Yeah,
- 23:49Speaker 1: if it's quite specific, because then when you keep it,
- 23:51Speaker 1: in my case, that happened to me on how to
- 23:53Speaker 1: keep the gift. I was like, this is shit. I
- 23:55Speaker 1: think I put it on Marketplace. It's embarrassing. You'd almost
- 23:57Speaker 1: just rather be the one that didn't give the present.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I remember the first Christmas I knew day, we'd only
- 24:02Speaker 1: been on three dates. And after Christmas, he gave me
- 24:05Speaker 1: this little penguin because he knows I love penguins. And
- 24:07Speaker 1: he just pretended that he'd seen it. I think that's
- 24:10Speaker 1: the way you do it. You're like, it's not a
- 24:11Speaker 1: big deal. It's not like you're going out and buying
- 24:13Speaker 1: somebody Hundreds of dollars of something. It's something that this
- 24:16Speaker 1: makes you think, oh, I've thought of you. I remember
- 24:19Speaker 1: my first boyfriend, he was so excited for his mum
- 24:22Speaker 1: to give me my first ever Christmas present from her.
- 24:24Speaker 1: And he talked up this present so much. It was like,
- 24:26Speaker 1: you are going to love it. And I opened up
- 24:30Speaker 1: this little blue spotty chicken. It was like this ornament.
- 24:34Speaker 1: It's like an art deco. It was from the jam factory.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Anyone in Adelaide knows it's like this artistic, you know,
- 24:39Speaker 1: they make all this stuff. It's a cool place. And
- 24:42Speaker 1: it was actually quite sweet because she had her own
- 24:44Speaker 1: collection of these chickens, but it just was iconic. But
- 24:47Speaker 1: every present from him was from the jam factory. One
- 24:50Speaker 1: year I got a a perfume, like a glass blown
- 24:54Speaker 1: perfume holder. That's his mum picked out that present. I
- 24:58Speaker 1: got one from my ex-boyfriend, the dropkick one that we've
- 25:02Speaker 1: referenced quite a few times. Pretty good. You got a present. Yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I was shocked because that didn't normally happen. You know
- 25:07Speaker 1: when call her daddy, when they've all got the nicknames,
- 25:09Speaker 1: like Mr. Dropkick. Yeah. So I think I only got
- 25:13Speaker 1: it this, that year because I'd moved to Melbourne and
- 25:16Speaker 1: actually got to know his family. So It was quite
- 25:18Speaker 1: clear that his mum had organised it because it was
- 25:20Speaker 1: still in the bag. It wasn't wrapped. And the card
- 25:23Speaker 1: that he was supposed to write with me was in
- 25:25Speaker 1: the bag with the envelope. That is so pathetic for
- 25:28Speaker 1: someone's mum to pick out their presents. It was a
- 25:30Speaker 1: piece of jewellery. It was actually quite nice. But what
- 25:32Speaker 1: I've done is anything that he gave me, I've just
- 25:34Speaker 1: sold on Marketplace. I was going to ask, was that
- 25:36Speaker 1: chicken up for grabs or do you still have that?
- 25:38Speaker 1: I think it's somewhere in my house. Oh, I think
- 25:41Speaker 1: you should have thrown it out. Oh, I mean, and
- 25:43Speaker 1: I've still got the– perfume thing as well. I think
- 25:46Speaker 1: it's in the shed. I'm not quite sure. I just
- 25:48Speaker 1: thought it was funny. I thought it was too funny
- 25:51Speaker 1: to throw out. Maybe no one wants to buy it
- 25:53Speaker 1: on Facebook Marketplace. See, I– Rhys probably won't like me
- 25:57Speaker 1: sharing this, but there is a piece of ugly artwork
- 26:00Speaker 1: that was actually– in our rental. Do you remember that
- 26:03Speaker 1: basketball print that used to hang above? Wait, that wasn't
- 26:06Speaker 1: a present from a partner, was it? I didn't know
- 26:08Speaker 1: that it was. And I actually found it when I
- 26:10Speaker 1: was looking through Reese's photos, like his old photos. And
- 26:13Speaker 1: it was from an ex-girlfriend and it was like, oh,
- 26:15Speaker 1: thank you so much, so-and-so. I love you so much.
- 26:18Speaker 1: And I was like, firstly, why is this on Facebook?
- 26:20Speaker 1: And secondly, why do we still have the print? What
- 26:21Speaker 1: a brilliant find though, because it's such a good excuse.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I just feel a bit uncomfortable having it in here
- 26:25Speaker 1: because it was a gift from an ex. I think
- 26:26Speaker 1: we've still got it in a spare room. I've always
- 26:28Speaker 1: felt the pressure to give Brandon good presents because I
- 26:30Speaker 1: remember he told me that his ex-girlfriend bought him a suitcase,
- 26:35Speaker 1: like a rolly suitcase. And he said, I was thinking, oh,
- 26:38Speaker 1: that's not a bad present. He's like, It was so
- 26:40Speaker 1: unthoughtful because she knew that I didn't like traveling and
- 26:43Speaker 1: she loves traveling. And I was like, well, because she
- 26:46Speaker 1: did end up dumping him and then traveling to America. So,
- 26:49Speaker 1: I mean, maybe if he had accepted it with grace,
- 26:53Speaker 1: he might've been on that trip. Well, this year I've
- 26:55Speaker 1: tried really hard to actually give Dale fun presents because
- 26:57Speaker 1: I got into a habit of just getting him happy.
- 27:00Speaker 1: I'm going to call you out here. He specifically told
- 27:03Speaker 1: us all that he did not want clothes. Yeah, and
- 27:05Speaker 1: I'm not giving him clothes. And then you gave us
- 27:07Speaker 1: all these clothes to give. So we're giving him the
- 27:09Speaker 1: unfun stuff. No, so if Sophie would let me finish
- 27:13Speaker 1: my story. Dale said he doesn't need any more hoodies
- 27:16Speaker 1: because I always got him hoodies because he didn't really
- 27:18Speaker 1: have many jumpers before. So if mum needed to get
- 27:21Speaker 1: him something, I'd say, oh, I'll pick out a hoodie
- 27:22Speaker 1: for you. And same with you guys. Not a great
- 27:24Speaker 1: present for Christmas in winter. No, but he said he
- 27:26Speaker 1: needs t-shirts and he actually does. So that's what I bought.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I picked out some t-shirts for you guys to give him.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I've already wrapped them. But my presents that I've got him,
- 27:37Speaker 1: I won't say what they are because it's not Christmas yet,
- 27:39Speaker 1: but they're all really fun ones. He's not going to
- 27:40Speaker 1: listen to this. Yeah, what is it? What have you
- 27:42Speaker 1: got him? So I kept seeing this thing on TikTok.
- 27:45Speaker 1: It's this like remote control, one of those cranes that like, well,
- 27:48Speaker 1: not a crane. What is it? Like a digger? Well,
- 27:50Speaker 1: is this from Mitchell Orville's shop? No, no, no. Like
- 27:52Speaker 1: a small one. I'll have to put a video. It's
- 27:54Speaker 1: actually really cool. It's for fun. He wants fun stuff.
- 27:57Speaker 1: And then I got him all this stuff. Wait, wait, wait.
- 27:59Speaker 1: So it's like a child's thing, like an electric car,
- 28:01Speaker 1: but it's a digger. Yeah. It's actually so cool. Hold on,
- 28:04Speaker 1: hold on, hold on. So he will use a remote
- 28:07Speaker 1: control to drive this around the backyard and dig up
- 28:09Speaker 1: the backyard. It's a joke present, Sophie. Okay. How much
- 28:13Speaker 1: was that? It was like 40 bucks. Anyway. I feel
- 28:16Speaker 1: like it was more than that. It wasn't. It definitely wasn't.
- 28:19Speaker 1: It wasn't more than $ 40. All right. And then I
- 28:21Speaker 1: bought him some stuff. Had he seen this? Sorry. Had
- 28:24Speaker 1: he seen this or you just saw this online? No, Sophie.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I saw it online. Sorry. We're not buying each other
- 28:29Speaker 1: fucking $ 1, 000 presents like you and your family. We don't
- 28:31Speaker 1: buy each other $ 1, 000 presents. Anyway, fucking $ 200. It's not $ 1, 000.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Don't paint me out. In the past, you have bought
- 28:38Speaker 1: $ 800 presents. That was the first year that we were together. Okay. Well,
- 28:41Speaker 1: just could you let me finish what I'm saying I'm getting, Dale?
- 28:44Speaker 1: Spit it out. And then I bought him... cause he
- 28:47Speaker 1: loves doing stuff in our outdoor area. This it's kind
- 28:51Speaker 1: of like a mini fire pit, but it's for the table.
- 28:54Speaker 1: So you keep people warm. Like a fondue thing. No,
- 28:56Speaker 1: it's not a fondue. It's just to keep people warm.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Then I got him all these like Mario related stuff
- 29:02Speaker 1: for his games room. Cause it, and the back we've
- 29:04Speaker 1: turned our shed into a bit of like a man cave.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So I got him all this like, and then I
- 29:08Speaker 1: bought him an old school Nintendo. I don't even know
- 29:12Speaker 1: what it is. It's not like a switch, but it's,
- 29:15Speaker 1: It's an old school game. So I feel like he's
- 29:17Speaker 1: actually going to really enjoy that. So then he's going
- 29:18Speaker 1: to get the boring presents from us. And they're like,
- 29:20Speaker 1: what the fuck is this? Oh, who cares? I mean, whatever. Sorry, everybody.
- 29:22Speaker 1: That was quite an extensive list of quite uneventful presents.
- 29:25Speaker 1: But I got Reese a Nintendo Switch for his birthday.
- 29:28Speaker 1: And at first I thought he didn't like it. And
- 29:30Speaker 1: I was like, well, we can return it. And he's
- 29:31Speaker 1: just like, I'm just in shock. I don't know why
- 29:34Speaker 1: you got me another game console. I just, are you okay?
- 29:36Speaker 1: Because like five years ago, I got him a PlayStation
- 29:39Speaker 1: 4 for christmas or his birthday i don't his birthday
- 29:41Speaker 1: is like 10 days before christmas so it's confusing um
- 29:44Speaker 1: but maybe i'm gonna regret it now because his reaction
- 29:47Speaker 1: wasn't normal i gave dale a nintendo switch i think
- 29:49Speaker 1: it was like three years ago for his birthday and
- 29:52Speaker 1: he nearly cried He was so grateful. He's like, I
- 29:55Speaker 1: can't believe you spent this much money and it's just
- 29:57Speaker 1: like the best thing ever. He never plays it though. Oh,
- 30:00Speaker 1: that was a response that I was hoping to get.
- 30:02Speaker 1: But then when he started setting it up, I could
- 30:04Speaker 1: see the excitement in his eyes and he was showing
- 30:06Speaker 1: Jack it and like Jack was holding it. He's like, oh,
- 30:08Speaker 1: we can play this together at some point. Maybe Sophie,
- 30:10Speaker 1: that's what you should get for Brandon. I've already got
- 30:12Speaker 1: him something. What do you get him? Because Dale keeps
- 30:14Speaker 1: showing me, sorry, Dale keeps showing me there are these
- 30:16Speaker 1: ads that are aimed at new dads and they're trying
- 30:18Speaker 1: to push the switch to new parents. I'm not an idiot.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Why would I buy him that? Between feeds, you can
- 30:23Speaker 1: be playing the Nintendo switch. I'm not offensive. Why the
- 30:26Speaker 1: hell would I want to give him that? Like I
- 30:27Speaker 1: want some help. I don't want him to be on
- 30:29Speaker 1: his fucking game boy. Yeah, but Rhys already plays like
- 30:32Speaker 1: these games on his phone. Like there was this game
- 30:34Speaker 1: I caught him playing and it was, he is a
- 30:36Speaker 1: manager of a soccer team. And I was like, that's
- 30:39Speaker 1: my ick, playing video games. But Brandon really wanted a
- 30:42Speaker 1: leaf blower. It sounds really random, but it's this like,
- 30:45Speaker 1: massive leaf blower because we've got quite a large backyard.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Is this getting into his dad era? It is. So
- 30:51Speaker 1: he just really wanted tools, but he doesn't know that
- 30:54Speaker 1: he's getting this from me. See, I'm not going to
- 30:56Speaker 1: say what Rhys is getting because I know that this
- 30:59Speaker 1: is more of a personal episode and he'll probably listen
- 31:00Speaker 1: to it. Oh, that's fine. We'll just have to tell
- 31:02Speaker 1: them not to listen. I don't think they'll get through
- 31:04Speaker 1: this much. Well, I think that's where we're going to
- 31:07Speaker 1: wrap things up. This podcast was recorded on the traditional
- 31:10Speaker 1: land of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. We
- 31:12Speaker 1: pay respect to elders past and present.
