- 1:00Speaker 3: Welcome everybody to this tonight's masterclass, and today we will
- 1:07Speaker 3: be talking about how to set up your publishing company.
- 1:11Speaker 3: If you're an author, even if you're an existent author.
- 1:14Speaker 3: This is gonna be beneficial for you. And if you're
- 1:16Speaker 3: a new author, definitely everybody take notes because it's gonna
- 1:20Speaker 3: be really important that you set up your publishing company the.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Right way, all right.
- 1:26Speaker 3: For those who don't know me, my name is Ash
- 1:29Speaker 3: Cash Exantis. I am an author for over thirteen years.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I've written twelve books. Four of them have been best sellers.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I've sold over one hundred thousand books in my career.
- 1:42Speaker 3: All of them are self published. I published them myself,
- 1:46Speaker 3: and I also teach people how they can write and
- 1:49Speaker 3: publish their book to create a six or seven figure business.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I use books as a way to sell my other
- 1:59Speaker 3: you know program you know that that I offer, uh
- 2:02Speaker 3: And I've been able to create a multi million dollar
- 2:06Speaker 3: business just from books and my my expertise. I my
- 2:11Speaker 3: my background. I was a banker for about fifteen years,
- 2:15Speaker 3: and so I started out as a teller when I
- 2:18Speaker 3: was a teenager. So I know I look young, but
- 2:21Speaker 3: I'm still young. But I started out as a teller
- 2:23Speaker 3: when I was a teenager straight out of high school.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Did everything in banking from from teller is a personal banker,
- 2:29Speaker 3: a private banker, branch manager. I was one of the
- 2:31Speaker 3: youngest CEOs of a credit union, and then I transitioned
- 2:35Speaker 3: into financial education and that's what I do now.
- 2:37Speaker 4: I'm a financial educator at heart. Again.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I've written a lot of books. I've been featured in
- 2:43Speaker 3: a lot of media and so you name it. I've
- 2:46Speaker 3: been on everything from Forbes to uh NBC whatever I mean,
- 2:51Speaker 3: you name it, I've been on it. I host a
- 2:56Speaker 3: very popular podcast, uh on on the on the big
- 3:00Speaker 3: on the biggest network on the planet.
- 3:02Speaker 4: H E y L.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I have a have a show called Inside the Vault
- 3:06Speaker 3: with Ash Cash and you know we we we're you
- 3:10Speaker 3: know really uh I want to say, I don't know
- 3:13Speaker 3: what what you know what show we are, but you
- 3:16Speaker 3: know we we've we've been viewed over three million times.
- 3:20Speaker 3: We've had some big guests on there, and so you know,
- 3:24Speaker 3: we're up to seventy nine episodes and we we got
- 3:26Speaker 3: more coming. And so you know, that's that's a little
- 3:30Speaker 3: bit about myself. UH salute, salute Batsman Raino in the building.
- 3:34Speaker 3: He's one of my students in my six figure at
- 3:36Speaker 3: the Blueprint program. And so, you know, starting out one
- 3:40Speaker 3: of one of the reasons why self publishing your book
- 3:44Speaker 3: is one of the best things you could do. You know,
- 3:46Speaker 3: I'm not against the big publishers. I think you know, uh,
- 3:49Speaker 3: the big publishers have their own benefits. They're like pros
- 3:54Speaker 3: and cons. There's pros and cons to everything, right, there's
- 3:56Speaker 3: always two sides of a coin. For me self, publishing
- 4:01Speaker 3: has helped me tremendously because of the speed in which
- 4:05Speaker 3: you can release a book. You know, I've helped students
- 4:09Speaker 3: write and publish a book, and you know, thirty days
- 4:13Speaker 3: has been the shortest amount of time we've been able
- 4:15Speaker 3: to do it. So usually between thirty to ninety days,
- 4:19Speaker 3: you can probably do it faster. But I'm not a
- 4:21Speaker 3: proponent of trying to do stuff fast only because books
- 4:25Speaker 3: lift forever. Right when you think about you know, if
- 4:28Speaker 3: you go if you go to Amazon right now and
- 4:31Speaker 3: look up things and grow rich, that book is right
- 4:33Speaker 3: now a number one bestseller.
- 4:35Speaker 4: And that book was written eighty four years ago. Right.
- 4:38Speaker 3: You know, my book My Right Money Right Timos of
- 4:40Speaker 3: Financial Freedom, I wrote that in two thousand and nine.
- 4:44Speaker 3: The book still sells to this day, and you know,
- 4:47Speaker 3: and I still get like you. If you look up
- 4:49Speaker 3: the book, you'll see a lot of a lot of
- 4:51Speaker 3: five star reviews. That's because you know, I don't think
- 4:54Speaker 3: you should rush your book because you know, again your
- 4:57Speaker 3: books should live forever. And so I would say between
- 5:00Speaker 3: thirty and the reason I'm saying that I've seen people
- 5:02Speaker 3: say write your book in seven days, writing in ten days, No,
- 5:06Speaker 3: not to them, but again I think thirty days is
- 5:08Speaker 3: a good amount of time to be able to get
- 5:10Speaker 3: your book done in the right in the right way,
- 5:14Speaker 3: and in ninety days is a you know, between thirty
- 5:17Speaker 3: and ninety days is a good time. And so you know,
- 5:19Speaker 3: one of the reason is again that I you know,
- 5:21Speaker 3: you know that I like self publishing is because of
- 5:24Speaker 3: the time. When you think about the traditional publishing way,
- 5:28Speaker 3: you actually can't publish a book traditionally by going to
- 5:33Speaker 3: a publisher. They have to find you right, So that's
- 5:36Speaker 3: first and foremost. As matter of fact, you have to
- 5:40Speaker 3: find a little erness.
- 5:42Speaker 4: What's up.

- 7:32Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 7:36Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 7:40Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 7:44Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 7:48Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 7:52Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 7:56Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security under President Trump attempted the illegal
- 8:00Speaker 1: border crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and
- 8:04Speaker 1: over one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If
- 8:07Speaker 1: you were here illegally, your next you will be fine
- 8:11Speaker 1: nearly one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned and deported, you
- 8:15Speaker 1: will never return. But if you register using our CBP
- 8:19Speaker 1: home app and leave now, you could be allowed to
- 8:22Speaker 1: return legally. Do what's right. Leave now under President Trump
- 8:26Speaker 1: America's laws border and families will.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Be protected sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Through every agent, and that literary agent will then shop
- 8:36Speaker 3: your book around to a publisher. There's only five major
- 8:39Speaker 3: publishers out right now. In fact, there's two publishers that
- 8:44Speaker 3: are trying to merge, and if I know, the Department
- 8:48Speaker 3: of Justice trying to block them for merging, that's a
- 8:52Speaker 3: Penguin and Simon and Schuster. If they wind up merging,
- 8:56Speaker 3: then they will consolidate the industry and make four main publishers.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:01Speaker 3: There might be subsidiaries to them, but there's four main publishers.
- 9:06Speaker 3: And so what happens is that every major book you know,
- 9:11Speaker 3: any you know, artists or celebrity or whoever, if they
- 9:15Speaker 3: want to put out a book, most of them are
- 9:16Speaker 3: going to go through the major publisher. And so if
- 9:18Speaker 3: you're trying to get your book published through that right
- 9:20Speaker 3: as well, you're you're sort of like competing against those publishers.
- 9:26Speaker 3: When you self publish a book, you're you know, you're
- 9:29Speaker 3: going to be able to control everything, right, You're you
- 9:31Speaker 3: know you're going to be able to control when the
- 9:33Speaker 3: book comes out, how the book looks. You could you
- 9:36Speaker 3: could use different marketing tips to kind of get the
- 9:39Speaker 3: book out there. One of the things that has has
- 9:41Speaker 3: worked for me and the reason I'm able to sell
- 9:45Speaker 3: so many books, is because.
- 9:47Speaker 4: You know the way I position my books.
- 9:50Speaker 3: I never, even though I self published my books, meaning
- 9:54Speaker 3: that I am the sole publisher of the books I released,
- 9:58Speaker 3: I still though I still have a publishing company that
- 10:03Speaker 3: publishes the book. So I'll jump right in right number one.
- 10:06Speaker 3: When you are setting up your publishing company, never set
- 10:10Speaker 3: up your publishing company to be associated with who you are, right, So, meaning, uh,
- 10:15Speaker 3: you know, my name is Ashcash. I have a you know,
- 10:20Speaker 3: a company called mind Right Money Management. I could have
- 10:23Speaker 3: easily published my book under ash Cash Books, right, or
- 10:29Speaker 3: I could publish my books.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Under mind Rights, you know, mind Right Books or whatever.
- 10:35Speaker 4: You know. I decided, if that's out the antonio, you
- 10:37Speaker 4: know what I mean?
- 10:37Speaker 3: If you know, you know, I decided to create a
- 10:41Speaker 3: publishing company called One Brick Publishing, right. And the reason
- 10:45Speaker 3: why I decided to call it One Brick Publishing it
- 10:48Speaker 3: was actually a Will Smith story.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Uh, when he was.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Talking about his dad and how him and his brother
- 10:54Speaker 3: broke down a wall and his dad, you know, told
- 10:56Speaker 3: him to rebuild the wall. Uh and and and you know,
- 10:59Speaker 3: he was that he couldn't rebuild the wall. So they said,
- 11:02Speaker 3: you know, make sure you build it one brick at
- 11:03Speaker 3: a time. So I said, you know what, my goal,
- 11:06Speaker 3: I still have this goal. My goal is to sell
- 11:08Speaker 3: two million books. And I said, if I'm gonna sell
- 11:11Speaker 3: two million books, I'm gonna do that one brick at
- 11:14Speaker 3: a time, right, one book at a time. And so
- 11:16Speaker 3: that's why I named it One Brick Publishing. But I
- 11:18Speaker 3: also wanted it to be something that is different from me, right,
- 11:24Speaker 3: So one Brick has no real association with ash Cash
- 11:28Speaker 3: or the brand, and so I wanted to be something
- 11:31Speaker 3: something separate, right, you know, because at the you know,
- 11:35Speaker 3: at the at the end of the day, when people
- 11:38Speaker 3: are you know, reading press releases. Press releases have gotten
- 11:42Speaker 3: me a lot of media attention. When someone's reading a
- 11:45Speaker 3: press release, it just sounds better if the book seems
- 11:48Speaker 3: like it's not being published by that person, right. And
- 11:51Speaker 3: so now if I put a press release out and
- 11:54Speaker 3: it says one Brick Publishing presents, you know, so like
- 11:58Speaker 3: my latest book is called from the Block to the Bank, right,
- 12:01Speaker 3: how to make the most of your circumstances to maximize
- 12:04Speaker 3: your full potential.
- 12:05Speaker 4: And so if I, if I do it a.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Press release and that press release says, you know, ask
- 12:11Speaker 3: cash published, you know, ass cash books presents from the
- 12:14Speaker 3: block to the bank. By ass cash, it's already given
- 12:17Speaker 3: it up. That then I'm I'm a self you know,
- 12:18Speaker 3: self published person. But if but if I put out
- 12:20Speaker 3: a press release and it says one brick publishing presents
- 12:23Speaker 3: from the block to the bank, you know how to
- 12:25Speaker 3: make the most of your circumstance to maximize your full
- 12:27Speaker 3: potential by ass cash, Now the media is gonna think
- 12:32Speaker 3: that it's it's it's published by a major publisher, and
- 12:36Speaker 3: they'll be more willing to give me life, right and
- 12:39Speaker 3: that and and that's because, uh, there's a lot of
- 12:42Speaker 3: people who self published books and they have no reason.
- 12:46Speaker 3: They have no they should not be publishing books, right,
- 12:48Speaker 3: And what I mean by that everybody has the right
- 12:50Speaker 3: to do it.
- 12:50Speaker 4: But there's some some bad actors.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Let's say, who are you know, you know, giving the uh,
- 12:58Speaker 3: the publishing world of bad name because anybody could publish
- 13:01Speaker 3: a book, so there's no checks in balances. And so
- 13:03Speaker 3: by you finding number one a unique name, right, you
- 13:07Speaker 3: finding a unique name for your publishing company that's different
- 13:10Speaker 3: from what you offer is a first step.
- 13:13Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 13:17Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 13:21Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 13:25Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 13:29Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 13:33Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy Noman, the United States
- 13:37Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 13:41Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 13:45Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 13:48Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 13:52Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 13:56Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our cb PEE
- 14:00Speaker 1: home app and leave now, you could be allowed to
- 14:03Speaker 1: return legally. Do what's right, leave now. Under President Trump
- 14:08Speaker 1: America's laws, border and families will be protected.
