- 0:24My name is Ricky and I'm Tan I thank you. There's two Tannes in
- 0:29the band. Yeah, I'm one of the other ones on here, and
- 0:33we formed the band Chaos Fair a nine years ago. Yes, hit that
- 0:42nine very good mate. Then that's funny going on with Kao Spyre at the
- 0:46moment. But we're going to start on your new single, chain Breaker,
- 0:49which is premiered by A Heavy on December fifteen. So it's been a while
- 0:53between drinks, guys. It's great to hear new music from the band.
- 0:57Yeah, it's been It has been a long progress, but we wanted to
- 1:03take our time with it. With EPs, you can sort of slap out
- 1:08a few songs and a video and tour and it's a it's a much quicker
- 1:14process. But with an album, you know, it just takes a long
- 1:18time, you know, And and chain Breaker is part of it. You
- 1:22know, we've had a lot of this music ready for a long time,
- 1:23but you know it hasn't been right to release it. M So tell us
- 1:30a bit more about chain Breaker from a musical point of view and what you're
- 1:32going for with it. Uh, Well, we just wanted to create something
- 1:38a lot of groove, a lot of emotion and something to really get the
- 1:42crowd, you know, washing pretty much it's just a hiavy song. And
- 1:49the songs as well, I wanted to Cap had their part to plan it,
- 2:00from drums to bass, the guitars, rhythm, tar, and you
- 2:05know, it took me ages to write the song as well because I wanted
- 2:09it to be right. So yeah, So how would you say it difference
- 2:15from what people have heard from casphere in the past. I don't think it's
- 2:21really really different. It's probably a little bit more polished maybe, and probably
- 2:25a little bit more clearer. Whereas in the past we sort of used to
- 2:34play good songs together and then we were more focused on playing live instead of
- 2:39actually doing full production in a studio and thinking about it, you know,
- 2:46so in that in that case, the music comes out a little bit more
- 2:50defined. I think there's multi is a thousand ways to write a song,
- 2:55mate, But you know, we've definitely tried a few a few different ways,
- 3:02especially with tany And and Leon. We spent a lot more time in
- 3:07the studio, was right, instead of writing them in the garage and then
- 3:19and then going to neck and sort of like smacking it all out in the
- 3:23day we were actually you know, studio producing this, this album that you
- 3:29won't want to say, you know which, I think you hear better things.
- 3:34Yeah, a lot more. And you add a couple of different songs
- 3:39to choose from to release it your first SINGLESO White choose chain Breaker. Look.
- 3:46I just thought it had a it's got some good nuts to it,
- 3:51and I just think that our older fans will appreciate it. I mean not
- 3:59saying that it's not throughout the album. There's probably five really really heavy songs
- 4:04in the album, maybe six, But we just thought it was a good
- 4:11one to really am people could catch onto the lyrics, they can get into
- 4:17the groove and really sort of you know, be a part of it with
- 4:23us. You know, you're also releasing an awesome music video to go with
- 4:28the song, So tell us what's going on there and the meaning behind it?
- 4:33Sorry, what was that? You're releasing an awesome music video to go
- 4:36with the song, So tell us a bit more about that in the meaning
- 4:40behind it. Yeah. So obviously the songs about upbringing and back in the
- 4:50day mum struggled a lot, and obviously me and me little bro we were
- 4:59we were you know, we had to go with mum. Whatever happened,
- 5:03and it's sort of it was pretty sort of gnarly, you know, and
- 5:09the video really captures it, and it really captures the emotion of ah,
- 5:15that kind of domestic kind of violence styles and living with it and then also
- 5:24breaking away from it, breaking the change and sort of like you know,
- 5:30making a decision to up and leave, grab the kids, let's go,
- 5:34We're out of here, and pretty much moved to a whole brand new city,
- 5:40brand new schools, brand new everything, and pretty much start your life
- 5:45over and living refuges and all sorts of pretty not really things, but credit
- 5:58to it. She made that decision, and you know, it was full
- 6:03of fruit, you know, like we me and my young my brother,
- 6:06we turned out pretty good and because of it, you know. So that's
- 6:13all the songs about chain Breaker, and it's just breaking those those bad cycles,
- 6:20you know. And sometimes when you're in love, you don't actually realize
- 6:25that you're in those situations because you're in love, you know what I mean,
- 6:30and until you step out of it and go, wow, that's pretty
- 6:32hectic, you know. And yeah, something coming from a positive coming from
- 6:42a negative basically yeah, yeah, mm hmmm, Jane Breaker also featured something
- 6:50never heard from KOs Here before in performance of clean vocals, like what decide
- 6:56that now is the right time to introduce that elementary music from from my earlier
- 7:02band Philosophagus that me and Little used to we twenty years ago. We used
- 7:13to have vote through our own music and when we first started Chaosly obviously with
- 7:19Big Tiny jumping in. He comes from a black metal background. He's playing
- 7:25a banquet from the dark. When we mashed the two styles together, it
- 7:30was just like a pretty much death metal band. The element's always been there.
- 7:38It just we just after doing our EP before and it was time to
- 7:44sort of like play around with a few things, I guess, And one
- 7:48thing's having clean vocals but trying to pull them off so they sound good.
- 7:54That's a That's another problems directed at Rickie, Like you've played Chamee Breaker live
- 8:03a couple of times now, so how do you go the first couple of
- 8:05times when it came to doing the clean singing in front of an audience for
- 8:07the first time, Like your nervous? Yeah, I was actually wondering what
- 8:15what the what the locals would think of it? But I try and sing
- 8:20it with a bit of a twang to it, so it's actually sort of
- 8:24sounds sort of groovy. I guess it's not you know, like, yeah,
- 8:30it's not bloody, it's not bloody opera. It's it's not super bloody
- 8:39power locals. You know, that's sort of directed. Yeah, but it's
- 8:45definitely daunting. But knowing that what I'm hearing back as it comes back to
- 8:52me, I'm like, well, that's what I intended it to sound like.
- 8:54So yeah, very cool. Jane bra Chakee Breaker is the first single
- 9:05from your debut album, which will be out sometime next year. So is
- 9:09it a good representation of what you expect? I think so definitely. Going
- 9:16forward in our right writing processes, you you probably will find more songs similar
- 9:22to that. There are some quite different as well. Yeah, a lot
- 9:28of diversity and album what people are pretty good procession of people. I mean,
- 9:41which it might be one song we might get crucified over, but you
- 9:45know how you know, it's quite of a It's almost a radio song,
- 9:48you know, and just in the past you hear bands, heavy bands come
- 9:54out and do a mallow track and they just get crucified. But I mean
- 9:58that is what it is. That's right. We like it. When you're
- 10:01writing it, you don't think about all them baggers, you know, you
- 10:05just sing, you know. But there's a good, good variety of stuff
- 10:11on there. I think it shows sort of diverse we're getting in now records
- 10:18and the sounds, experimenting a bit more different stuff. The good thing too,
- 10:24is we've still got our old tunes, so you know, like that
- 10:26people love and know, so being able to play some of those songs with
- 10:33our new songs as well, it's going to be great you know for our
- 10:37Yeah, whatever kind of gigs we're playing, you know, ends or kind
- 10:41of kicks you're playing, you're playing full fresh, Well, how did you
- 10:48pick yoursel? Yeah, yeah, good connection songs to suppose. The big
- 10:56question is, guys, I will old school fans and chaos for our like
- 11:01the new music? I think so yeah, yeah, well that's to be
- 11:05excited. We certainly hope. So, you know, yeah, we've tried
- 11:11really hard on it. You know, we've definitely put a lot of effort
- 11:15into it. That's a lot of time and money. Obviously we don't make
- 11:20no money back like all the other hard bands out there, not you,
- 11:30but yeah, look we really do hope they like it and and get on
- 11:35board with it, and yeah, it's all we can hope for. Yeah,
- 11:41you know, we spent a lot of time on it, sopefully.
- 11:45Ye. The other big news for case where is your recent signing to new
- 11:50label ex Music, which is run by Tim McClain smith. There is it
- 11:54saying records for twenty years and now works for Better Noise Music. So Ferston,
- 11:56congratulations, it's reward for effort, you know, yeah, really thanks,
- 12:07thanks that Chris. Guys, we didn't you know, like as people
- 12:16mentioned record levels and you think, oh, you know, what are they
- 12:18going to try and do screw us over and such and such, But going
- 12:24through it, it's actually a pretty workable contract. It's pretty workable. It's
- 12:31good for both both parties, and with his experience in contacts, I think
- 12:39that there can only be better for the chaosphere all around. Definitely, he's
- 12:46definitely an industry this room. He's a really good bloke as well. Yeah,
- 12:52it helps, that's what you did when you actually like the people you're
- 12:54working with. Yeah, that's right, that's important. And you know he's
- 12:58an excellent that's quite of a risk for him as well, you know,
- 13:03like his the bands he sort of plays with at the moment aren't really heavy
- 13:07middle bands, so I guess he's taking a risks as well. We're pretty
- 13:16pretty grateful that he's giving us this opportunity. Yeah, it's funny though,
- 13:20like you say that with X music, he hasn't really got many heavy bands
- 13:22with anyone. You look at what he does with Better Noise music. He's
- 13:26got asking Alexandria and Bad Wolves into who five figure death punch he actually has?
- 13:31Does does know a bit about it? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 13:35yeah on Bitter music. Yeah, but just lead through. So he's definitely
- 13:41got the runs on the board. Yes, yeah, there's there's some big
- 13:46bands that are part of the music. Hopefully were not there off off there
- 13:50Perch one day CNA Yeah yeah. Uh of being a brutal live band,
- 14:03guys. And you return to the stage. It's here for a couple of
- 14:05shows already, but it's a new stage show equals you or better than before,
- 14:11that's still decided, mate, But always it's always a work in progress.
- 14:18Beforehand, we focus, like I said, we focused a lot on
- 14:22our live sound and we didn't really put much into the you know, the
- 14:28footwork. Just time around, we've had time with that. We now we've
- 14:33got our music, No, I mean we've got time to work on intros
- 14:37and how they have been. So that's that's what we're doing. So so
- 14:46yeah, look we get a little more if there and hopefully hopefully just be
- 14:54easier. When I had dread loccess for sure, but I don't have them
- 14:58anymore. I think that is essential ingredient to a good low shoe. But
- 15:07no, no, but for me, you know, doing my part,
- 15:09just wiggle my head and will your hands, shake your ars and your away,
- 15:15yeah, and scream out like a bloody lunatic and you know. But
- 15:20yeah, we're practicing a lot of the moment, reversing a lot, so
- 15:24yeah, and working on them. A live show sorted for the next year.
- 15:31And the next gig actually is that alternate festival in the back room Anealie
- 15:35of Forevery Third, alongside bands like Orpheus, A Meager Piston, Fish,
- 15:37Dead Wait eighty three, the Hollow twelve Gage Ram Phase has some pretty big
- 15:41bands. It's heavy as fuck line up. Yeah, looking at it,
- 15:48it's definitely I've been in. Yeah, we've been looking at it for a
- 15:52while now, it's been but it's good that it's actually finally come to light.
- 15:56Now give it nice, big, big, big out there Day had
- 16:02nine. I think you're still announcing another h act between handle Up. This
- 16:11is a lot of so but yeah, after that, where we we don't
- 16:17know. Well, we've got to set our direction obviously, touring and go
- 16:22and hitting a few of our favorite little spots like Newcastle and Sydney and Melbourne.
- 16:26And we'll be working to Fixed Music as well. Yeah, working with
- 16:33them, working on the schedule for next year to coincide with the album and
- 16:40singles and England releases exciting times. Yeah, I think you guys can be
- 16:45good. Four singles to release. Yeah, we've got a busy year next,
- 16:49a lot to do, some sleep and get yourselves ready for it.
- 16:56Okay, beautiful guys, Right, well, thanks very much for time.
