- 0:00[SPEAKER_03]: I used to have a lot of virgin pinnacle as it Mexican restaurants with my parents growing up.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_03]: One time I said one that clearly did have alcohol in it, but only one sip.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_03]: I was like nine.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_03]: And even I was like, that's not the drink I love.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_02]: That tastes very different.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to the draft show presented by fans at a five round draft of absolutely anything featuring the best talent from our roster of stars today.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_03]: I'm Adam Winder boasting this draft with Emeline of fans at MLB, Justin Fried, fans at NFL, and today's draft is mixed.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_03]: Drinks when you're going to the bar if you don't want to be here IPA2 have you for you sour to sour too much Pucker and you want something that is way more expensive than a beer Ed, but will I guess you'll have to buy fewer of them if you really want and depends on what kind of night out you're having This is probably a cocktail bar situation We are drafting mixed drinks.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_03]: There is a wide variety of options here You can create your own mixed drinks some people have invented mixed drinks
- 0:57[SPEAKER_03]: I assume no one, Justin or Emma, you're not going to draft things that you've invented that I don't know that I can't draft, but the option is on the table for you to create a concoction, all of your own.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_03]: I am going to take the first pick here, put Justin in the middle Emma, you get the wrap around in the third spot.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: And I also look,
- 1:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think my drink preference is going to be scrutinized here.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_03]: I have an Instagram account called at worst drink on the menu, where I look for the sweetest sounding, weirdest experimental dessert cocktail.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I buy it the last thing on this Instagram is like an old fashion that had cracker jacks in it.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: Before that, it's a beer with pizza spices.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I have strange preferences.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_03]: I might throw wild card wrench in this draft.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_03]: You never know, but I am going to start it relatively
- 1:44[SPEAKER_03]: I want a smoked old fashion, an old fashion where they sometimes serve it with a cap on it.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_03]: They'll release the steam when it gets to your table, smell smoky, taste delicious, just like a slightly more intense old fashion.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_03]: So give me that with the one one, Justin, we'll put you in the middle here.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_03]: What is your number one pick?
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll repeat my disclaimer because I said this to you guys right before we started this draft.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't drink very much.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I have a very limited palette as far as alcohol, alcohol goes, but I'm going to go with the drink, then I can't sit as my go to because not every place as it boots my favorite mixed drink.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: Give me a peanut colata.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to be sitting relaxing on the beach, drinking a peanut colata like when I'm thinking of mixed drinks, that is my ideal scenario.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take a peanut colata here.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_03]: That was almost my number one pick.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_03]: And it's also the first mixed drink I ever had.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_03]: I used to have a lot of virgin pinicoladas at Mexican restaurants with my parents growing up.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_03]: One time I said one that clearly did have alcohol in it, but only one sip.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, nine.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_03]: And even I was like, that's not the drink I love.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: That tastes very different.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_03]: So I almost took it.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad I didn't.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_03]: Emma, you've got two mixed drinks in a row.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: What is your first round pick and second round selection?
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, first I have to say, Pena Colado is a good pick and I, I'm embarrassed to say that I just had my first ever Pena Colado like two months ago and I have been missing out.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: I can tell you that.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: So great pick with that one.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: I got to go with still my favorite my number one, the
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: cocktail that has more range than any other, I think, guinea margarita.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's the clear number one.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: You can go classic.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: You go spicy, frozen on the rocks.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: You can add flavors.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: You make it skinny.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there are just so many options there.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: So margarita, I'm always going to say yes to a margarita, especially with tahin on the rim.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's the best way to do it.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: So that's that's what I got to go with for my first pick.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: Since I have the
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: man lots of choices here i think i've got to go for the the creativity pick on this one and i'm gonna say an espresso martini i mean it's dessert it's caffeine it's alcohol all working together i mean you're going out for drinks but you want an alcoholic beverage but you also need a little jolt of caffeine espresso martini you want a drink after dinner espresso martini it just has so many uses so i got to go with that
- 4:12[SPEAKER_03]: It was up there for me too, and I can't argue with either of your first two picks, especially with the variety that you're able to get on that Margarita selection.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_03]: Justin, I don't think it technically counts, but if you do want to draft Pinyclata in a coconut here, I might give it to you as a second one, but make your second selection, and feel free to go as Milwaukee as you want.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see if it comes down there, maybe I'll play that with the last pick if I'm right out of options.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, espresso martini was one of my picks that I've had.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: There's legitimately only like five or six cocktails, like different types of cocktails that I've had in my life that came to mind.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: That was one of them.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I've recently been turned on to espresso martini as a mayor of fantastic.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I'll, you know what I'll do then?
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, let me take something very similar.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: Now this I've only had a couple of times in my life.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: This was back in the college days.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, again, I'm not the heaviest of drinkers, but this was like a little thing that they were doing at our local bar.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and somebody had told me to try it.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, cool, I'll try it.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: Give me an Irish car bomb.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I've had that like three times in my life and it was very good.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: And it may be think of the espresso martini, maybe think of that.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll take that here at the second pick.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_03]: They are very good.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_03]: They are quite dangerous, but I think that goes basically everything on this list.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they're, if you don't overindulge, don't do the whole draft, everybody.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you know, we're just selecting preferences.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_03]: We're not saying, go, that you're not building a team of five mixed drinks to attack the night with.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: Or are they not drinking along with us?
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they were having all these drinks.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_03]: Well, to them, I mean, again, the draft show segments like 10 minutes long, if you're getting rid of all these things, downing all 15 during the period of watching this, congratulations.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to use this plan a night out, or a night in, let's be real.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_03]: You can also do that as well.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I want
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: I am worried about this not making it back to me.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_03]: And I have some weird ones later on that I'm happy to go with.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm just gonna go ahead and go with a bloody Mary here in my, my second pick slot.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_03]: And then pick the versatile option.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_03]: This is the least versatile drink in the world.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want this with dinner.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_03]: But it does its job, it does its job very well.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_03]: And you could add bacon, you could add olives, you could add a stick of nonsense, a cheese wedge.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, whatever you wanna put on a poker,
- 6:25[SPEAKER_03]: So I'll take this, just in your unfortunately back on the board.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no, you're not, right?
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: You get a wrap around.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_03]: I got a wrap around.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_03]: I have the host and I did know how that worked.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_03]: And I was just testing everybody and I wanted everyone on mute.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_03]: I won't go with A.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_03]: dirty martini here.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_03]: I like olive juice and a martini.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_03]: I don't necessarily care what's in the olives, like blue cheese or no that doesn't matter to me.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_03]: Will I eat the olives?
- 6:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I will.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_03]: Do they taste good?
- 6:55[SPEAKER_03]: No, they don't.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_03]: But I want a dirty martini here.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: vodka.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_03]: Martini.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_03]: Jin, not my friend.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: vodka.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: Usually is.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_03]: So that is what I'm going with here.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_03]: Justin hit that sandwich pick.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so this is my actual go to when I'm at a bar when I met a restaurant or whatever and I want some kind of mixed drink the one that they're almost always going to have give me a vodka pineapple I don't know if there's a name for that if there's a fancier way to describe that that's what I order that's what they give me and it does the trick it is the spot
- 7:25[SPEAKER_03]: vodka soda with a splash of pineapple was my wife's go to drink for a while.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so if you're just trying to maybe lighten up on the pineapple a little bit, also an option for you, but I will let you pick it.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I think it feels good.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_03]: That that's an easy one.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's an easy one.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_03]: Go to the bar that that'll satisfy.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_03]: Emma, you've got two, and again, I know, you know, you come from a land of very complex cocktails.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: I know you can maybe go off the board here, but there are some standards.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_03]: There's some standby that have yet to be taken, and you've got two.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: So hit us with what you got.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure that I do come from a land of weird cocktails, but there are some standards.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, I'm going to say that maybe this doesn't qualify as a mixed drink, but I feel like you're mixing two things together, so that should make it a mixed drink.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I got to go with my absolute favorite
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: breakfast beverage or early in the day beverage.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a bloody Mary, but give me a mimosa.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: I love a mimosa.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: So it's really my preferred mimosa, obviously the ratio.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's mostly per seco and then you just kind of like wave the orange juice in the general area in front of it, just like little little essence of orange.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's got to be my go-to there for brunch breakfast, whatever it is.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: I love him the most.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then sticking with the Prosecco-based cocktails, I had a feeling this one would probably make it to me.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's one that I was recently turned on to, is recently, is this year.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like it definitely does not get enough love.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a Hugo Spritz.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: A Hugo Spritz, it's got,
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: The it's gotten mint.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: It has per seco.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: It has like it's just more kind of like I think it's a little bit lighter than a apparel spritz sometimes I feel like apparel spritz a little too too heavy on the orange for me, but a Hugo spritz a nice refreshing summer drink so I'll take that
- 9:31[SPEAKER_03]: The Prosecco ones are the ones that are dangerous to me.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_03]: You can count on me not taking those.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_03]: And I think you can count on Justin not taking those well based on previous conversations.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, there's also one drink I absolutely won't touch in this draft.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll get to it as I wrap up my own draft in a little bit.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so I guess I'll be the only one drafting six.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'll be doing five.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, is one no, which isn't usually protocol.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_03]: But I am the host, Justin, you're fourth.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_03]: And every time I toss it to you, I feel kind of bad.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_03]: So here's your fourth of five bakes.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: And so, okay, my list is still mostly intact.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: I swear some artinis, the only one that was on that list that was taken, so I appreciate that.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I got this idea, because this is another one I've had.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: Producer Sean, of course, he was in our ear and telling us that I think a pineapple, a vodka pineapple is called a pineapple screwdriver.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: So, let me just get a regular screwdriver.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: Let me give vodka orange juice.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: I've had that numerous times in my life, super basic, but man, I'm not complicated with mixed drinks.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: Just give me, give me some simple.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_03]: I will take it.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: I am going to give you no argument there.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_03]: That's not one that I had my eyes on.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm going to close out this draft with, I think stepping on no toes with my final two picks.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_03]: I want a snake bite.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_03]: with my fourth round selection, which is logger and cider mixed together.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_03]: If you've ever been to an Irish pub and you haven't done it, there's a different name I feel like for a Guinness and cider and also you could do black current in a snake bite, Boris probably not going to have that, but it's a mixture of logger and heart cider and it is delicious and so
- 11:01[SPEAKER_03]: Mixed, like heavy on the mix.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's like not quite a cocktail, but it's definitely not a beer.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's definitely two things being mixed together.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_03]: I'll put it here.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: My final selection is Anything with an egg white.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_03]: You can put an egg white in a cocktail.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_03]: Make it fluffy.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care what the other portions of the concoction are.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_03]: If you are a cocktail denizen and you're creative and you've got a 2012 era Williamsburg mustache, and you put an egg white in your majestic cocktail for a foam layer on top.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a sucker for whatever that nonsense is.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_03]: So throw that in there.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_03]: I think like technically a whiskey sour can be really good with an egg white, but I don't really want to limit myself.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_03]: Literally anything with an egg white mixed in to make it a little bit better, even though it sounds way, way worse.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_03]: Just then I'll give it to you to close out your personal draft and give me the biggest exhale of all talk.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, this one comes with a very brief story.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: So I lived in Europe for a few years and I did some traveling when I was there and I went to Croatia while I was in Europe and I have a specific memory of being in Croatia and doing like one of those boat tours and there was a guy coming around like in one of his little like robots, whatever.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_02]: Selling mojitos.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I'd never had a mojito at this time.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: six years ago, so I'm like that probably.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe it was just the scenery.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it was just the situation that I was in, it was fantastic.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I was thoroughly enjoying myself.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: So just give me a moment.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_02]: I remember the minth specifically stood out to me.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm happy with this draft.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll exhale.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'll exhale.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: But for the most part, my picks were intact.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_03]: Mojito as the one I absolutely did not want.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_03]: I can't stand putting you know when the mint leaf goes through your straw into your mouth or ruins the straw by coming up the straw It's one of my least favorite feelings in cocktail consumption So Justin I'm very glad that you were able to wrestle that one away from the proceedings Emma you've got the final pick I seem we're going to go Croatian boat mojito to wrap it up
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you stole that one right out from under me.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: No, I will say I want nothing to do with a Mojito for a very different reasons the story I won't share, but just not not good experiences with Mojitos in in my time, but I will take a classic normally I'm more of a tequila fan when it comes to mixed drinks, which is why I went with the margarita, I think that
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a Paloma could give the Margarita a fight within the Tequila Division, but it is a little crazy to me that this one hasn't been picked yet.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I got to close it out with a Moscow meal.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Ginger beer, lime, vodka.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's pretty hard to screw up.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's just a classic.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's easy to drink, so give me the Moscow meal.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_03]: I like the copper involved there too.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_03]: I almost took Paloma.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_03]: This is a, look, this is a classy list.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_03]: This is classy establishment, the draft show.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: And so if you're coming and let everybody in the comments, please weigh in.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_03]: Let us know if you did all 15 during this segment and how that went for you.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_03]: If you were able to mix them as quickly as we said them and if you were able to interpret anything with an egg white at a moment's notice and just hop in action to get that ready or if you already had it in the fridge.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_03]: Emily and Justin Fried, I'm Adam Weiner for the draft show, drafting mixed drinks.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_03]: What did we leave out?
- 14:18[SPEAKER_03]: What do we miss?
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: Wait in the comments.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_03]: Let us know.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_03]: Football season is back and whether you've been betting for years or you're just looking to put a little action on the games my bookie is where I am playing I love to just put a little bit on a lot of different things hopefully come out on the right side of history It makes watching much more fun especially if you are a fan of losing teams like I am I draft bets that work.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_03]: I'll be sharing some of the spots I'm looking at along the way, but you do not need to be an expert or blindly telling anybody to have fun here find a play you like just take a shot
- 14:50[SPEAKER_03]: That is what I like about my book.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_03]: You can find the action you want and bet it wherever you are when the game kicks off.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: And if you are new to the club, the betback bonus gives you protection on your first play.

- 15:05[SPEAKER_03]: Opt into the betback bonus and take your first shot with a safety net.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_03]: It makes me feel so much more comfortable when I'm able to do something like that.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's like I know the defense is not lurking.

- 15:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, listen, we have, we have, we have Derek Jeter and Jalen Bronson, they can keep them in check.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's okay.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, again, we, I don't really know what's for these guys are competing in, but you might not show up with all five men if it happens via noon game.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to the draft show, presented by fanside in here with another episode.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_03]: I am Adam Wider, but I am hosting this one.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_03]: So buckle up, as I get to decide who does stuff and when they do it and where they do it and who they pick and what they're picking, and I'm here with two great guests emiling in for fanside in MLB.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_03]: Just in free from fans I did NFL keep it in the family today and we are here We're gonna start by drafting all-time New York athletes now.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_03]: I did not rig this I did not just in the isn't your jets fan and you I know you're a Nick's fan I am a Yankees Nick.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_03]: I mean the New York blood runs strong in this particular episode Emma
- 16:37[SPEAKER_03]: not for you.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_03]: So I know your initial reaction was like, you did this to me.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_03]: We just thought this was a great topic and we thought we would have some fun.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_03]: And guess what, you as someone who maybe isn't as invested in your sports is probably likely you're to beat us because we're going to beat ourselves up over specific picks.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_03]: And you're going to take the obvious ones.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_03]: So I actually, I don't know if the host is a lot of place bets, but I'm going to place a bet on Emma before this begins.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm okay with that.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're led to place bets on me.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know why anyone listening or watching would care what I have to say about New York athletes, but I'm happy to play along with you guys.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_03]: We definitely have to act like they would, regardless of the hey look.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: So the rules are we're going to draft and snake draft order.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_03]: Go ahead, pick up a team of five New York athletes all time.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_03]: All generations cross sports.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_03]: I do not want to make Emma take the first pick.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to give her the third pick and the snake wrap around.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_03]: I'll give Justin my fellow New York sports fan the first pick and I'll pick there in the middle So Justin I'm gonna hand it off to you.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_03]: Who do you select first in an all-time five round New York athlete draft?
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: So this is really tough because there is some really heavy hitters that we could start with here But there is a name that I I desperately want on my team and since I'm picking first I'm not confident he would make it back to me and if I'm gonna lose this draft
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm okay losing it like this.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: So give me jail and Bronson with the first overall pick.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's not the right pick, but it's where my heart says I should go because I don't think he's making it back to me the second time.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: I add them.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think you take them with one of your picks.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: You got Yankees guys.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: There's so many Yankees guys that you can go with.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: There's an abundance of them.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like I know we can go Clyde.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: We can go Willis Reed.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: I got to go with the captain.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: The captain's going down with the ship.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna take the captain on my team.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: Give me jail and Bronson.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_03]: If you hadn't taken him, I would have probably risked it with this pick, and then yeah, taking him with the fifth overall pick.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_03]: So you made the right call objectively, and who wouldn't want him in the summer of Jalen Brunson right now?
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: Single handedly beat Victor Lemonyama with a surgery wrist.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_03]: So, um, yeah, did maybe the greatest feat in the last 50 years of New York sports.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_03]: So, he's yours.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_03]: He would have been mine.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_03]: You were correct.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_03]: You played the right calculus.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_03]: I have to take Babe Ruth.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_03]: I have to take Yankee.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, that weird thing about New York sports draft, too, is that fandom doesn't always overlap.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_03]: So, there, you know, I'm not a Jets fan.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_03]: Justin, you probably would have left me some Yankees.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_03]: Emma, you don't care about any of these players at all.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_03]: But Babe Ruth is the foundation of the New York Yankees franchise.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_03]: It's the house of the Ruth built for a reason.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_03]: So I will take in here and you got third pick and fourth pick.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_03]: Who you taking?
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think it's a little extreme to say I don't care about any of these picks.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: But like you said, I am going to pick more with my brain than my heart.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I am a baseball writer by trade.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: And there are a lot of good baseball picks here for New York.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: So you said I'm going to go with the obvious ones.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: Babe Ruth would have been the most obvious.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I got to go with the second most obvious.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think in my opinion And that's gonna be Lou Garrig He's one of baseball's greatest hitters Six-time world series champion just enduring Cultural figure in New York.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think just beyond sports So I got to go with Lou Garrig at number three and again sticking with baseball number four.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: I got to go Jackie Robinson
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's another significance that just transcends baseball at transcends sports.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he broke the color barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: One of the most important athletes in American history.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: So Jackie Robinson and number four.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, a helpful reminder that you may take Brooklyn Dodgers.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_03]: You may take near giants.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_03]: You could even take
- 20:18[SPEAKER_03]: long island nets.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to, I don't hear, but somebody could.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_03]: It's hard to argue with either those picks and Jackie Robinson a UCLA to Brooklyn move.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_03]: So if you associate with LA, I get it, but broke the color barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers that is the correct pick.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_03]: all timer near exports.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_03]: I want a Nick here in the middle pick, and I know who the viewers are probably yelling at me to take, but I want a Nick champion, so I'm going to take Walt Clyde Frazier here, who won two rings with the next in the 70s and 70s and 73, and was meaningfully part of the presentation, and the announcing team this year as the Nick's broke their lengthy
- 21:05[SPEAKER_03]: Um, if you were taking your Gathlete restaurants, I wouldn't take in that even though it was a solid 4.5 out of 10, but sometimes he was there.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_03]: He was there when I was there once, and uh, they just could go up to him and talk to him and say thank you for making a steakhouse in the Hell's Kitchen.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I'm taking a wall of clayfraiser in his immaculate style here with the fifth of the Royal Pick Justin, round out round two who you got.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: Clyde's a fantastic pick and I think that's the correct pick and you were hinting at you at youing there Clyde's the right pick Listen, I I hate to do this to you.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not a Yankees fan, right?
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: I grew up in Metz fan I'm not super into him.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be at this time.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I claim and I will be fan them, but I'm certainly not a Yankees fan.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: However
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said at the start, there's just so many Yankees here that are synonymous with New York sports.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I got two of them, honestly.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just citing who to pick first, and I think I'll stick with the theme, right?
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: With the first pick I went, the captain of the New York Knicks, I went jail in Bronson, give me the captain of New York Yankees, give me Derek Jeter, give me the other captain in New York.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I'm going for the emotional heartbeat here of New York sports as, you know, Derek Jeter objectively not as good as a baseball player as Babe Ruth.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: But is there any player more synonymous with New York Yankees baseball than Derek Jeter?
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: uh... retoupec to it that tick but you actually have to pick so who is your retoupec i'm gonna stick with the yankies here i just think there's so much lore here in new york yankies history give me give me makey mantle like uh... i i feel like it's a miracle that he's made it through the third round of this draft there's just so many amazing new york athletes so many great yankies as well but i feel pretty good with jale and ronson dericiter and makey mantle representing my new york athletes team
- 22:39[SPEAKER_03]: It is a miracle that Mickey Manel made it this far.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_03]: I think I would have picked him right now.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's also a miracle that Mickey Manel made it to the ballpark every day that he did.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_03]: So good pick.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: If you got him on the right day, I need to figure out a way to add some multi-sports star power to my team.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to jump in front of Emma here and take Mark Messier, who I trust in the clutch, in essentially,
- 23:04[SPEAKER_03]: You know, under Dores maybe more than any modern New York athletes to shame he only gave us one in New York, but plenty more in his previous home in Edmonton.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_03]: So game seven's own Mark Messier is my middle pick here in the third round.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to toss it to Emma for again the rapper on selection.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: see you knew that I was going to take all your Yankees so now you're going to take my hockey players.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's all right.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's fine.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: We still got some opportunities here.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: Sticking with the Yankees though, I was thinking mantle obviously, that's a great pick.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I got to go Joe DiMaggio.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: Um, nine world series championships, three MVP's, um, I mean, just enormous celebrity status.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he's just an iconic figure in New York sports history.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, so that leaves me now.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: You took Messier.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: I really thought I had a good chance of him so be in there for me.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to pivot.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to pivot and go back to baseball again, shocking.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: I know, but he's known more for, I think he got kind of overshadowed his time with the New York Giants, the baseball New York Giants, maybe got a little overshadowed, but I got to go with Willie Mace.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: He, of course, you know, the franchise moved to San Francisco when he was part of it,
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: at the polo grounds.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: So one of the greatest baseball players ever give me Willie Mace.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_03]: I thought you were going to steal for me there as well and just start piling up Yankees.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_03]: I, by the way, Lou Garrick, there's going to be like some Glenn Powell, Lou Garrick, movie coming up soon.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_03]: So very timely pick.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: I like the casting.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not sure what the plot of that film is, but you know what?
- 24:45[SPEAKER_03]: Actually, I'm sure it's probably Lou Garrick's life and I'm going to go with another Yankee in the middle round here.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_03]: My fourth pick,
- 24:52[SPEAKER_03]: uh, probably the greatest winner in New York Yankees history, not Babe Ruth, not Lou Garrett, not Derek Gier, but Yogi Barra.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_03]: And when you started to say like his career in New York is obscured a little bit for Willie May, as I thought you were going to say like because his quotes are so funny, and he's such a weird little guy, but um, and I thought you're going to take him, but Yogi Barra, you know, a 350 Homer catcher, um, there is a met who has similar
- 25:20[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm going to take the Yankees version.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_03]: It's crazy.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_03]: Someone with Yogi Bears body type was as good as he was, but there was only one Yogi bearer and he is on my team.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_03]: Now Justin here is your fourth and fifth round picks.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_03]: This is how you close out your roster.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_03]: So thank very carefully here about how you want your team to look.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_03]: And again, you've got three icons to start.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_03]: So pretty hard to argue with.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_03]: Who are you closing out your team with?
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think I'm going to stick with the icon like mantra here as opposed to, you know, maybe the two players I'm about to take, because I already, I know who I'm going to take here.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: The two players I'm going to take aren't necessarily the best as far as like respective to their sport, respective to their position, players on this list, but as far as what they mean to their organizations, and I'll say this, I am also surprised.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: But there has not been a football player taken to this point.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, I don't think there's been a single football player taken.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: The beauty of the wrap around is that I get to monopolize that if I want to.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to try to do that.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, I got to represent my New York Jets.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: Give me Joe Nameth.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_02]: Give me the winner of the maybe most consequential Super Bowl in the history of the NFL.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: Give me the guarantee himself.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: Give me Broadway Joe.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take Joe Nameth.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: You've named it in mantle on the same team.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, listen, listen.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: We've got a, we have, we have, they're a cheater in jail in Bronson.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: They can keep them in check.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's okay.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, again, we, I don't really know what's for these guys are competing in, but you might not show up with all five men if it happens to be a noon game.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_03]: Who is your fifth selection here?
- 26:50[SPEAKER_02]: I look, I know you're a Giants guy at him.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: I, in like I said, I maybe I'm not going to go with the best player in Giants history, because I think there's an obvious pick if I wanted to go that route, but I'm going to go the emotional route.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go to a guy who might mean more to the Giants, especially of a certain generation, you know, more of the 2000s than, and then in any other Giants, give me my manning.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_02]: I, again, I'm willing to admit, maybe Joe name of the line manning, not the best players their position of all time, but as far as importance in New York sports goes,
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like Jalen Brunson, Derek Cheater, Mickey Manel, Joe Nameeth, and Eli Manning.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't get much better than that.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_03]: I want to rely here.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_03]: I just rinse and repeat copy paste life said this every time you made a selection before me.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I'm sort of dead set.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: I'm putting a giant on my team and I was going to be, I was ready for you to not take Eli and then I was going to say, man, I was going to be cheeky, but I have to take Eli Manning.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and now I'm going to say, I'm going to be cheeky.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'm taking Mark before.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, and I'm putting him on my team.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_03]: I understand how controversial this may be, but if you're looking at pure dominance at any peak era, I understand who I should have
- 27:52[SPEAKER_03]: But I just, I'm going to take the giant who I prefer, and I'm going to represent, you know, not Phil Sims, not LT, I like the 80s giants, and I'm going Mark Bavara here, and I probably just lost the draft, but you know what?
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's the power of being the host.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: There are many eighties I could have put in Bavara's place.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_03]: There are many giants I could have put in Bavara's place, but
- 28:11[SPEAKER_03]: dominance from the tight end position and what a tight end grinder he could actually catch passes meant to that era of NFL football, uh, give me Mark Bavara and I wish we could have seen him in this current era where tight end you is more manicured towards catching TVs in longevity.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_03]: But, uh, I love the talent.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_03]: I'm putting him on my team and fully acknowledging that probably should have been LTE, but I don't want him.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_03]: Emma, where are you taking?
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: This is harder than I thought it was going to be because there's so many options left now.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, again, the fact that LT is still on the board, I mean, that that's crazy.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: You got Mariana Rivera still there.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: Tom Seaver.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: Ewing.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't even know where to go here.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: But again, maybe kind of.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: not going with the best, but just going with my personal favorite of the many athletes that are remaining here.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I can't have a team without a hockey player on it right now.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's all baseball.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I also, when I'm not watching baseball, I'm watching hockey.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: That brings me to either Henrik Lundquist or Mike Bossy.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: Two iconic figures for their franchises.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously,
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what's hard.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: I still have to go with my heart here, and I have to take Hank.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: I got to go with Hank because he doesn't have the cup, but he is arguably the greatest gold tender in Rangers history.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: He is just a beloved modern athlete, just not only in New York, but around the hockey world, just all time good guy.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I got to go with Hank to close it out.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's a star-studded group of apologies to Roger Sedanio, Tony, DeAngelo, all of these legends who didn't find themselves selected, Sterling Hitchcock.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_03]: There's room for all of you, Aaron Ross, and the next New York sports draft, no-drill revis, Justin, kind of surprised by that, a little bit, the Tiki Lai Manning instead.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_03]: Who wins this New York sports draft?
- 30:09[SPEAKER_03]: Let us know, wait in the comments.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_03]: On the draft show, we'll see you next time to care, everybody.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: this is fans first athletes to draft where I the fan go head to head with the pro athlete to see who can pick the best list of whatever topic they choose.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_02]: Today we've got New England Patriots wide receiver K-Shon booty and we are going to be drafting LSU wide receivers.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: You get the first pick.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_02]: I get the second pick.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: We'll go back and forth.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: So you could draft the best roster here.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: K-Shon, you start a soft thing is my number one.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think we've got to go tomorrow chase.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_02]: OK, all right, he's on my board for sure.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think I'm going to go Justin Jefferson.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: That was the number one guy in my head.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: I can't blame you for taking chase.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, give me Malette Neighbors.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, all right, great, great young receiver for the Giants.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: I got him my dynasty team, so go pay him.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_02]: This is all time as well.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I think I'm about to get, maybe to steal the draft here.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: Give me, give me, oh, no, back, I'm junior.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_02]: Give me, give me, give me, oh, be Jay.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's what I was working until next.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, let's see, let me get Jarvis Lange.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, it's a lot God, I love it.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_02]: Once again, another guy who's gone caused me as a jet fan some heartbreak over the years with the dolphins.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: I got a couple of guys here, I'm thinking of, I kinda wanna not go a current, there's a couple of current guys, but I give me a, give me Dwayne bow.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like people overlooked and forget about how good Dwayne bow was and it was in his promise of the chiefs.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_02]: Give me Dwayne bow here.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, okay, all from our four, I think I gotta go myself.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think I are on the not put myself.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_02]: I had you on my list, too.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: If you weren't taking you, I was going to take you, but that's that's the other.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: I like the confidence.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to leave you with a couple options here.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'll go, I'll go the current guy.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'll go a guy with the Jaguar flight and up right now.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: Brian Thomas Jr. Give me, give me Brian Thomas.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a great player.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so you got, you got what?
- 31:59[SPEAKER_02]: You got your march ace.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: You got, you got, you got
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: uh... but leak neighbors Jarvis land horse case gun booty himself and i got just the jackerson i got out of the back of i got right yeah it's a couple of a couple of like brand of the fell when i'm drafted couple of a couple of good players in there yeah yeah so that was you that's why receiver you right there they got they got so many risk of receivers in the league yes uh...
