- 2:05even though Lauda has been pushing me to do.
- 2:07So for a long time, I just didn't I Know Myself.

- 4:22It's good stuff. All right, all that out of the
- 4:25way, I'm going to go ahead and read the my drama.
- 4:27Listen Ops this for love all play.
- 4:30The drama that we'll be talking about today.
- 4:33All right, a sports romance. Drama that depicts the passion
- 4:37and affection for badminton of a male and female protagonist who
- 4:41is a mixed doubles group with players from the badminton
- 4:43business team. Park Tae Joon who naturally
- 4:46wound up in the world of badminton.
- 4:48Because of his parents, his badminton equipment business.
- 4:51Although he had begun to see the sport as work, his passion for
- 4:54badminton is reignited due to a desire to impress a woman Park.
- 4:58They I've not read the synopsis, this is crazy.
- 5:02Okay? Talk to Young is a former
- 5:04aspiring Olympian who had to leave the badminton world for
- 5:06three years due to a bribing Scandal it this originally aired
- 5:11this year April to June 2022, we are not Too far after this has
- 5:17completely aired 16 episodes long.
- 5:21The alternative title for love all play is going to you at a
- 5:24speed of four hundred ninety, three kilometers.
- 5:27I think it's km/h but everywhere is just km km.
- 5:31I don't get that. Yeah, okay.
- 5:33Yeah moving on but director is Joe womb and he directed
- 5:37Justice. It's written by whole song.
- 5:40Hey who's directed staff directed?
- 5:42She has written tomorrow with you.
- 5:45You from 2017? Love that drama.
- 5:48Definitely, watch it at a Time time.
- 5:50Travel drama really good and Dream High 2 which is not a good
- 5:55trouble at all. Terrible terrible but it has a
- 6:00good lineage I guess an important one, I don't know.
- 6:03All right, let's talk about this cast.
- 6:05Talk to a human plays pack Taeyang and this is actually her
- 6:09first lead role in a romance drama.
- 6:11And in 2021, she won the award for best new TV actress.
- 6:15At the back song Awards, which is a huge deal to win, one of
- 6:19the backs on Arts Awards, she was just in the movie Soul vibe
- 6:23from this year, 2022, Netflix original and she's been in of
- 6:28course extracurricular which is also a Netflix original zombie
- 6:31detective from 2020 and mouse from 2021.
- 6:35So I think she has a pretty strong resume.
- 6:37These are well-received dramas and of course you want to EXA
- 6:43her co-star is Chet do. Yelp as Park Tae Joon, and he
- 6:48has had a pretty good year after he starred as potato boy and
- 6:52nevertheless and 2021 allowed. I have you seen nevertheless?
- 6:58I haven't. Okay, but I did see zombie
- 7:00detective. Okay, okay, so you saw
- 7:05what's-her-face, Park ji, heon and zombie detective.
- 7:08I'd okay. Have you watched any of the
- 7:10other junk he'll dramas where he was in The Witches of Diner.
- 7:14Now, Less, Sisyphus Hot Stove league and come and hug me from
- 7:192018. I have no.
- 7:21Okay, neither have I. I've only watched on
- 7:22nevertheless and he was potato boy.
- 7:26He was potato boy. I don't know if you were caught
- 7:28up. Look, nevertheless was a Phenom
- 7:31in 2021 because of the NC-17 rating.
- 7:34The cast was hot song kong was in it.
- 7:37What's your name? Hon.
- 7:38So he was in it and then there was this guy who stole
- 7:41everyone's Hearts as like. This potato, will you drop?
- 7:43What happened? Was he drops?
- 7:45Potatoes in the drama and then pick them up in his hand.
- 7:50And that was it, he was potato boy.
- 7:54Right now to this day, he's potato boy.
- 7:57Anyway, we'll do Supporting Cast really fast.
- 8:00Just three people Park ji heon as Park Joon young, that's
- 8:03really close. And in my mind, that's the same
- 8:06name. But okay, he was in human cells.
- 8:09Do you like Brahms rookie historian who had young, my
- 8:13secret Areas, the king, and love?
- 8:16And it also Stars Kim woojin as you jeong-hwan also from
- 8:21nevertheless. And so G has a human From ID is
- 8:27Gangnam Beauty. All right, all that being said,
- 8:32what did you guys think of love all play?
- 8:38I'll let louder start. Hey, we we have a very Different
- 8:44ideas. Tell me of the of the drama.
- 8:47Okay, I've seen way too many romance.
- 8:51Dramas it is. My favorite genre of kdrama.
- 8:54Yes. So I have seen way too many.
- 8:57Hmm. And because of that, I looked at
- 9:00this may be a little bit more critically.
- 9:02Okay. So it was it was good.
- 9:06It was a no-brainer, but I've seen the same type of drama
- 9:10being done really well. I just couldn't help, but notice
- 9:14all of the like, okay, this is kind of weird.
- 9:17Okay. This is kind of mmm, but
- 9:20overall, I think the storyline was a little bit lacking.
- 9:25Hmm. But the actors were what brought
- 9:28it to like? What made it watchable for me.
- 9:32Okay, I like that. All right, Kathy as a newbie as
- 9:37a rookie drama water. It was really nice.
- 9:42I Really enjoyed it. It was something that was very
- 9:45easy to just kind of fall into. I agree with Lauda that the
- 9:50acting is really what did it for me.
- 9:52The first time I saw taejoon smile, it was over for me.
- 9:55Forget it. Yes.
- 9:57And and and I think I really got hooked on that report that they
- 10:03built as a show went on within all the cast and I think the
- 10:07acting was mostly solid across the board.
- 10:10So I think that's what really kind of kept me going but All in
- 10:13all, I really enjoyed my time watching it.
- 10:16I binged it in two nights. So yeah.
- 10:19Wow, two nights. Yeah, that's it.
- 10:22Did you sleep? No, right.
- 10:23No, I did not. If that's why I don't watch
- 10:27kdramas because I can't stop myself.
- 10:29So fair fair enough. Um, okay, so it's my turn.
- 10:34So look, I again have watched a lot of kdramas and I heard
- 10:39generally positive things about love all play, but again, I have
- 10:43high expectations of kdramas now.
- 10:45I feel like the bar is set, really high personally for me.
- 10:49Now, in my cage, I'm watching and I'm Savage, I'll drop things
- 10:53that like early or really late, like, I'll be like episode 14
- 10:57and they're 16 episodes. I'll drop it, I don't care.
- 11:01Yeah, that being said, I was really surprised by this drama.
- 11:06I liked it a lot. I found it super endearing.
- 11:09I loved the characters. I like this really young cast.
- 11:13In both of their leads are in their 90's.
- 11:15Babies like want to say like one is 94 and the other one was born
- 11:20in 93. So maybe they're not that young.
- 11:22Hold on. I think they're really late.
- 11:25I think 20 like 97 and 99 the men I believe they're that
- 11:32young. Well anyway, they're in their
- 11:3520s and I really felt that the sports drama was pretty strong
- 11:42because It's not only a sports drama, but it's Sports romance
- 11:45drama. I think where Kathy's coming in
- 11:51is a good spot to watch the show because it's very beginner
- 11:55friendly. It has a lot of the tropes of
- 11:58people are familiar with and that's not an issue.
- 12:02That's not too much of an issue to me as long as the tropes are
- 12:04done. Well, yeah.
- 12:07But I also feel like for Lauda to say that it was also kind of
- 12:14messy. The writing I understand You're
- 12:16coming from completely because I'm coming off of just finishing
- 12:21it like an hour ago or so. And I'm finally kind of trust
- 12:26just catching my breath and I'm like, okay some of it was
- 12:30retreading the same thing over and over the same melodrama over
- 12:35and over again, but they can't. The characters can't seem to
- 12:38like get over it. Yeah.
- 12:41So that was kind of an issue but overall really positive feelings
- 12:46toward this. Trauma allowed us like just
- 12:51like, oh my God like what do I do?
- 12:53She's like the most negative one on so far on love while playing
- 13:05a little bit, a little bit. Okay.
- 13:10So, what did you guys think of the OST?
- 13:14Because I feel like it's important to ask you guys,
- 13:16especially since you guys are coming from music background.
- 13:21That's your your whole subject of your podcast.
- 13:25So, how did you guys feel about the OSD?
- 13:27It's obviously pretty important for kdramas as well but yeah, I
- 13:31can start here. So in my very limited kdrama
- 13:34experience, like my first drama was quite a long which is like
- 13:37not the drama to start with people but I just needed
- 13:40something silly and Mindless at the time to watch and I just
- 13:43wanted to see how he acted so with it.
- 13:47Yeah, I know em and then that one, it's so annoying the way
- 13:50that they like shoved. It's definitely you down our
- 13:53throats like constantly, every time that there was like a scene
- 13:56with like V or with so June. So, I really didn't enjoy it in
- 14:02that sense. But here, I actually really
- 14:04enjoyed the osc. I thought it was memorable but
- 14:08not annoying and they Add a song that they chose for every single
- 14:12episode that was different. So you even though they used,
- 14:16you know, like the intro soundtrack and they had a song
- 14:19that was mainly for the two characters.
- 14:21They also intertwined it with different music that they made
- 14:24that fit the scene. And they did a really good job
- 14:28in my opinion of mixing it up, so that we didn't really get
- 14:31bored of the of the soundtrack or be like, oh, there, there it
- 14:34goes. Again, I'm supposed to be
- 14:36transported to the couples, like, you know, it wasn't that.
- 14:39So I really I actually think that they did a good job with
- 14:41OST. Hmm, I have to agree but I to me
- 14:47it was the only song that I really remember is the theme and
- 14:51the the opening one, I know that there were songs that they used
- 14:57over and over and over, but like Kathy said, none of them really
- 15:01like it was jarring. It wasn't.
- 15:04Oh my God, it will again this song.
- 15:06So to me it was nice because it just went with it and it didn't
- 15:09take away. From the drama.
- 15:12I mean, am I gonna go look for the OST know?
- 15:18But it was okay, if I quite like the osc, but now that I'm
- 15:23sitting here, I can't I can't like put my finger on unease
- 15:26particular song other than the intro song.
- 15:29Yeah. So, which is such an Anthem,
- 15:32right? Like you hear it and you're like
- 15:34yeah let's go. I want to play badminton fuck so
- 15:37feel-good song for sure. Yes.
- 15:40We feel good. And but other than that, the
- 15:43other songs are good because I remember liking them but they're
- 15:47not memorable. The other main song that they
- 15:50had is called secret and it's just a cute song.
- 15:54It's just like a cute Papi Papi formulaic song that you can't go
- 15:58wrong with them so that's why I like it.
- 16:01Yeah. Did you guys wonder what 493
- 16:05km/h equated to Decided at the beginning of the show cuz I was
- 16:13like, okay, this alternate, this alternate title for it.
- 16:18First of all is a mouthful but also I did means nothing to me
- 16:21because we were from the states and we deal not in the metric
- 16:26system. So I looked it up.
- 16:28It's 306 mph. Which was legit way higher than
- 16:34I thought it was going to be. I honestly thought, who I like,
- 16:39I was like, they're tossing. The shuttlecock at 306 miles per
- 16:43hour. Are you kidding?
- 16:48Well, do I have it wrong? I mean, no, no.
- 16:52I mean the way that they present badminton, it makes sense.
- 16:56It's not a very heavy little ball true.
- 16:59And there are strong people with bracket.
- 17:02Yeah, it makes sense to me, are you guys is tennis antennas.
- 17:06They usually like clock. Like 90-something miles.
- 17:09Those are like the really strong ones if it goes over 100.
- 17:11It's like wow. Like that's amazing.
- 17:13Yeah, for me. I mean loud.
- 17:15And I were both raised in Latin America so we actually grew up
- 17:17with KM. So it wasn't maybe as jarring of
- 17:20a number for us but I do think it's a little bit BS like them
- 17:24to say like that's the speed that was yes especially because
- 17:27it's unofficial. So I thought there's there's a
- 17:31little bit of drama decision there.
- 17:33Haha, drama. Huh, drama and a kdrama.
- 17:36Who's that? What?
- 17:38Okay. Okay.
- 17:39So I wasn't the only one that was like, whoa, what is that?
- 17:43Did you guys play sports growing up?
- 17:45Or team sports growing up? I'm not a sports person but you
- 17:49know what's funny like I was doing my notes for this show.
- 17:52Probably the only thing that qualifies me to talk about this
- 17:54drama is the fact that I won a badminton tournament.
- 17:57When I was 13, get the fuck out of here.
- 17:59You did that, you did. I have I have the certificate
- 18:03somewhere, it wasn't some Resort, and some island for
- 18:06vacation or something, and Actually played badminton and I
- 18:09won the tournament. So it has my name on it and I
- 18:11was like, you know what, when you said the show I was like,
- 18:14I'm so unlike unqualified to be here.
- 18:16Talking about kdrama wasn't giving reviews but then he
- 18:18started playing badminton. I was like, you know what,
- 18:19actually know a little bit about this, so let's do it.
- 18:23I am so entertained by the fact that you've won about, in this
- 18:26tournament, I have never played badminton in my life, but I have
- 18:30played tennis. I used to play tennis when I was
- 18:33a kid and then when I went to college, I had a needed.
- 18:37Elective It's or whatever. And I signed up for tennis
- 18:40there, too, and that was a whole new level because I was playing
- 18:43with like college kids and it was a class where they, like,
- 18:46tell you the basics and then I did like, multiple semesters of
- 18:49it. So I like I went up through the
- 18:53the levels. I don't even know.
- 18:55I don't know. Right?
- 18:56Yeah, whatever it is. I don't know.
- 18:57Whatever else in karate, the equivalent.
- 19:00Whatever that is, no. Yeah.
- 19:01I was like an orange belt in like tennis.
- 19:06I was so bad, but Loved it. So a lot of the conditioning and
- 19:10the team aspect of it of being in a bad on a badminton team,
- 19:15and even the business team versus the national team, like
- 19:20lost on me though. Completely lost.
- 19:24Yeah, yeah. So I was wondering if you had a
- 19:26better handle on that. I, I was, I wasn't in any sports
- 19:30because like, no, but I did do. Oh my God, I forgot the name of
- 19:36it. Oh no, it's a flag.
- 19:39Oh, it's oh my god. Oh, oh, oh, Color Guard Color.
- 19:44Guard is like flag football. Yeah, I did do color guard the
- 19:51last year. Of high school my senior year
- 19:55and I definitely understood the like comedy, how do you
- 20:02camaraderie camaraderie is? So of, like the teams of beat
- 20:07the their of there being like a national team and just a
- 20:11business team because at least in Color Guard, you could
- 20:15either, you could either be like, Going and participating in
- 20:20the competition, right? You you could not be but I had
- 20:27never, you know, besides that one year never experienced
- 20:32anything. Mmm.
- 20:33So it was super weird the company team versus the national
- 20:36team and but then they look would link up and dream.
- 20:39Yeah. Train together and they would
- 20:41compete against each other and then they would go to the same
- 20:43tournaments and play in the same team.
- 20:45I was very confused. They would pull from the same
- 20:47pool. It did it?
- 20:49Yeah, the math wasn't. Nothing irony or not?
- 20:51Okay, cool. So I thought it was just me.
- 20:53I thought you guys had a better handle.
- 20:54Okay, cool. No, no, no.
- 20:56We'll all be confused together. Perfect.
- 21:01Here's what I found, interesting that love all play, drew the
- 21:04lowest ever Peak and average ratings for a kdrama airing on
- 21:07free television during prime time.
- 21:11So however, much, we liked the show.
- 21:14Nobody seemed to watch it in Korea and to ratings, never
- 21:19broke the 2%, Mark, and the pilot episode was the highest
- 21:23rating it had at one point. Nine percent.
- 21:25I'm sure loader, has a lot of notes as to why that could have
- 21:28happened. Honestly, I get it.
- 21:31If we weren't doing this podcast, I would have dropped
- 21:33this. I was, I was, I was literally
- 21:38counting down the episodes to finish it.
- 21:42I was just like, okay, I have five more, I have five more.
- 21:45It's okay. I can do this, like, when I Lee
- 21:48did finish it? I was like shut up louder.
- 21:54I okay so I out of Mississippi out of necessity little
- 21:58background I had to binge it because I didn't have the time I
- 22:02had all these things going on and I was like this is the only
- 22:05thing I have time. I can watch the show and I binge
- 22:08it within three days and it was only possible because I really
- 22:13liked the show There are some shows where I am like Lauda,
- 22:22where it's like, well struggle. I'm like, man count down the
- 22:25minutes and stuff. And I think maybe will
- 22:26contribute to it. Was the fact that it was only 16
- 22:30episodes wasn't longer than 16 episodes, 20 episodes or even
- 22:34longer episodes were strictly an hour.
- 22:38Yeah, I've been watching, I don't know what I did to myself,
- 22:41but I thought I can swing kdramas that are longer than an
- 22:45hour long per episode. I can't do that.
- 22:49Evidently I'm not built for that.
- 22:50It really bothers me so an hour-long episodes and then the
- 22:56way that I watched it was on drama, cool.
- 23:01Which instantly brought me Nostalgia for the early days of
- 23:04me watching kdrama with like all the pop-up ads and like watching
- 23:08it on my laptop. Because now I have a laptop
- 23:10again and it was just the feeling of watching it was as if
- 23:15I was watching an older key drama.
- 23:19So maybe, oh, go for it. Sorry, sorry.
- 23:21I thought you were done but funny enough.
- 23:23I started watching it on. Dramas, go Dora Moscow, which is
- 23:27like more of the Spanish serving.
- 23:28Yeah. America like server and then I
- 23:32had it on drama cool. So I had it like back and forth
- 23:35which everyone would load faster and give me the last like,
- 23:37pop-ups. That's where I watched it.
- 23:40And I went back and forth between Spanish and English
- 23:42subtitles. Oh wow!
- 23:43Cute nice. So I've Louder your part of the
- 23:50people that dropped it or would have dropped it.
- 23:53Had you had you not had integrity and came prepared for
- 23:56the podcast, but if this was your regular kdrama watching you
- 24:00would have never finished level play.
- 24:03No, damn I. Again, I've watched so many
- 24:06romance dramas that it just, this wasn't it for me.
- 24:10I-i've been only watching Romans dramas for a while because
- 24:14they're mindless and kind of, you know, they're easy to watch.
- 24:18I was hoping this one was going to be one of those and I would
- 24:21binge it, but I I was okay with just watching One A Day.
- 24:25Wow. Yeah.
- 24:27That kind of movie that was a main criticism of the show.
- 24:29That a lot of people had, was they felt the story was average.
- 24:32They felt the characters were really strong but they never
- 24:34reach their potential. The plot was lackluster
- 24:37repetitive and all these things. Lots of tropes.
- 24:41But then you know didn't really deliver on anything, any
- 24:46promises that it had after the The first few episodes.
- 24:52That being said, I exciting, you know.
- 24:54Maybe it was just like Lord I saying and like you're saying
- 24:57it's like more of the same. Like I don't I remember wanting
- 25:01to see the next episode but it wasn't because of clinging
- 25:03Cliffhangers or anything. No, I just wanted to see the
- 25:05Love Story develops. Yes.
- 25:07But but it wasn't something that I was like, oh my God, I need to
- 25:11know what happens next. So maybe that's why people
- 25:13dropped it because they weren't like captured, you know, it
- 25:16wasn't that I think the Chemistry Between the leads.
- 25:20Was excellent and I really wanted to see what's his face,
- 25:27but they do Voyager said you. And yes, that character is so
- 25:34charming and endearing and really vulnerable at times and
- 25:40you just want to see him do well, you want to see him
- 25:43succeed and maybe that's the issue of the show.
- 25:48The conceit is that he's a Compelling character.
- 25:51Then she is He is, he it, he's, it's it, he's everything.
- 25:59He saved the drama for me pretty much.
- 26:03It should have been, it could have been a really good 8
- 26:07episode 12, episode drama. They decided to go for the
- 26:10normal 16 and they really shouldn't.
- 26:13I agree with that. It could have been 12 episodes.
- 26:15Yeah. Would have been perfect as 12
- 26:17episodes. Yeah.
- 26:19Hello dr. Laura has a different opinion
- 26:21about the chemistry levels. Okay, louder.
- 26:25Sing your song. I that actor that played had
- 26:32you. Yeah.
- 26:34He could have had chemistry with literally a bucket.
- 26:37Yeah, it's like he is so good and he was so good and he smiled
- 26:42and like the whole world lit up like Mike, I watched it on my
- 26:46phone. I was like, my whole phone lit
- 26:48up, like, it was everything. So it just I've seen the the
- 26:54actress Good chemistry with liking zombie detective, which
- 26:58wasn't even a romance and I was watching it as a romance.
- 27:03So I've seen her have really good chemistry and to me with,
- 27:06with these two characters, it was okay but it wasn't.
- 27:10Yeah, it was an amazing. It was really just because of
- 27:12touching like that actor, really?
- 27:15Yeah, hit it out of the park. Like Lord, I kept texting me the
- 27:18whole time. I'm like her actual real
- 27:20chemistry like gold. Mine was between ten Jung and
- 27:24junk. One, like that was heard.
- 27:25Whoa, that's what she's like, this chemistry is for me, that's
- 27:29where she was at. Yeah, let's talk about this
- 27:32because I'm not sure if this was queerbaiting or what this.
- 27:35So throughout the show maybe this is spoiler territory.
- 27:40Hmm, maybe yeah. Okay, okay.
- 27:42So let's give our scores out of five Soju bottles.
- 27:45What would you rank or rate the show?
- 27:48For me? It for me, it's a for let's
- 27:49start on the positive note. Okay, boy.
- 27:52Okay, what louder I personally would have given it a three,
- 27:57okay, but but just because of his acting and because of Cathy
- 28:02I'm giving it a 3.5 you don't have to if you could say three,
- 28:06that's fine. No, no, no.
- 28:08I really can't. I told her like, you know, when
- 28:11you when you look at the number 3 out of 5, it's very neutral.
- 28:14It's very, could go either way. And I don't think this drama
- 28:17could go to the negative side. I think it's mostly positive.
- 28:20I don't think you can say a lot of negative things about it.
- 28:23Like she can criticize some things but Don't think the drama
- 28:25itself deserves like a neutral score, where it could go, the
- 28:29see what you're saying. I see what you're saying, so you
- 28:32should to meet. I'm sorry.
- 28:34No, no. Go ahead going to me.
- 28:36I rated it a 3 because I was like I wouldn't recommend this
- 28:40for people to watch a for I'd recommend a five I'd watch again
- 28:45but a 3 is like I enjoyed it but also maybe not.
- 28:49Mmm. But I was the only one that was
- 28:52willing to drop this so well, not with Thing but trying to
- 28:55drop this. Okay.
- 28:57So I would get rated a for Soju bottles out of five.
- 29:00I think it's a really good show and maybe I'm reading more into
- 29:05the other characters and their growth because I feel like even
- 29:10though not a lot of stuff was happening plot-wise, the
- 29:13characters were growing and changing throughout the show, in
- 29:16major ways, and learning from their mistakes, and training
- 29:19themselves. Internally not just externally.
- 29:22So, that was my main Thing that I was really pulled toward.
- 29:26Not only the chemistry or you know Ted don't help.
- 29:31He's magical so far. He's been magical every time
- 29:34I've seen him twice, I've seen him.
- 29:37So for Soju bottles out of 5. And with that we can break for
- 29:42spoilers. You want to come in.
- 29:51All right, we're on the other side of spoilers for love.
- 29:54I'll play. So if you have seen it then,
- 29:57keep listening. If you don't care to be spoiled,
- 30:00then keep listening. We were talking about possible
- 30:04queerbaiting in the in the show and I want your opinion because
- 30:08throughout the show the main girl taehyung.
- 30:14Keep saying that she loved her unnie as much as she loves, Ted
- 30:20Joan. And that she would idolized her
- 30:23and they were more than friends and all this stuff.
- 30:27What do you make of that? To me that was like oh is she as
- 30:31soon as she said I loved her I was like, okay, is it love love
- 30:37to me? That's smells like love.
- 30:38Love. Personally for me too young.
- 30:43The character they make her have this really, really big need for
- 30:48love new to like all of the issues that she had as a child
- 30:52with her mom. Abandoning her and her feeling
- 30:56that her adoptive parents only love her, if she does well.
- 30:59So to me it was more of like a friendship someone that she
- 31:03actually, Had a good relationship with someone that
- 31:08she felt loved her back regardless of how she did.
- 31:11So it, I never saw it really as, like, romantic love to me, it
- 31:17was more just friendship, her finding love when she didn't
- 31:24really have any at home. Hmm, kind of thing.
- 31:28What do you think? Kathy for me?
- 31:29So for me, I think it is folk a lots of her abandonment issues
- 31:34and like the few scenes that we get.
- 31:35Diamond childhood like she's by herself or like Charters like
- 31:39steal the bike. So there isn't a lot of
- 31:42backstory about her having friends before her life became
- 31:47badminton. So I think that there's
- 31:49something about just her being a really young promising athlete.
- 31:53Making the national team looking at the athlete, like the top
- 31:58athlete and like admiring her so much wanting to become like her
- 32:02becoming her and then actually having her, except her
- 32:05Friendship. It was just an obsessive Junior
- 32:08to senior Dynamic. I didn't see it as queerbaiting
- 32:11personally, which would be a relief if yes, actually.
- 32:16Yeah, I yeah, I would say that the friendship that I can
- 32:19equate, this to would be the one in 2521 between those two,
- 32:24female friends, who started out as enemies, and then make it to
- 32:29friendship. And it's a really beautiful
- 32:32transition in 25:21, with confettis care.
- 32:35Durand. Oh my God I forget her name
- 32:38anyway. That other her bestie in that
- 32:39show. I feel like 25:21.
- 32:42Did it better. Then love all play especially
- 32:45because we're just receiving their friendship in flashback,
- 32:49were not experiencing the whole friendship, or lack of
- 32:54friendship, fall out in real time.
- 32:58She was also a part of like the, she was third-wheeling all the
- 33:01time, when like the bit between the relationship with someone.
- 33:03Like as I do, Decoy thing of land for them to not know that
- 33:07they were dating. So that's also a thing of like
- 33:10it was unhealthy like depend codependent Dynamics, you know.
- 33:15So I just don't think she knows how to be a friend.
- 33:18She doesn't know how to be a girlfriend either.
- 33:20And so, I just think she's just tumbling through life, trying to
- 33:23figure out how to have a normal friendship, and dynamic and
- 33:26relationship with someone honestly.
- 33:28Mmm, what did you think of the friend?
- 33:32So the friend The accident and the whole drama between them.
- 33:38What are your feelings on that? Cuz I personally feel that they
- 33:43were both at fault and there was no need to crucify her for three
- 33:50years. And then if you know into the
- 33:53prison because of course she makes her grand return.
- 33:55The friend comes back to Korea. Yeah. to me, it kind of felt
- 34:05Sort of like a Trope in that sense, like it in real life,
- 34:11they were both at fault. They chose to go to this ski
- 34:17resort, they both chose to drink and then go snowboarding.
- 34:23It wasn't like, Taeyang picked up.
- 34:27You, you joon-young? Yeah.
- 34:29Joon-young played by talk to him.
- 34:32Picked her up and like dropped her at the top of the slope and
- 34:36made her go down. So it was more of like I feel
- 34:39like that part of like in dramas, where if someone isn't
- 34:44suffering, yeah, it's not okay. Yes, someone needs to suffer and
- 34:49the whole like Korean culture of guilt.
- 34:55And yep. So it was just like a mixture of
- 34:59just part of the culture. I think and an easy way to
- 35:04create drama like an easy plotline true.
- 35:07For me, true, I do feel that it was rather easy.
- 35:14They saddled her with a bribery charge.
- 35:16In the first episode. That was the rumor going around
- 35:19made no sense at all. Like, literally wasn't even a
- 35:22logical rumor because she was poor, so there's no, she didn't
- 35:28get anything out of it. Anyway, then she basically feels
- 35:32guilty for maiming her friend, who was the top athlete at the
- 35:38top. So at some point in the very
- 35:41first episodes when you're watching, I Like is this girl
- 35:45paraplegic? Like, did she lose a leg because
- 35:48of the, the, when they were kind of hinting at what happened in
- 35:50the accident, I really genuinely thought that this girl's life
- 35:54had been distraught. And I understand that as an
- 35:56athlete, not being able to continue, your sport is feels
- 36:01like a like a death sentence in a way and like a life-ending
- 36:04moment, but her life just changed, she was still able to
- 36:07walk normally, she could still wear heels as she does in the
- 36:11show. So you know, she even said it
- 36:14herself like the character even at the very end when she was
- 36:18confronting her mom about Taeyang.
- 36:22She literally said, I'm not dead.
- 36:25I'm still alive. It was just ending it just ended
- 36:29my career earlier, but I'm still a person like she still had
- 36:33goals. She was going to college like it
- 36:36wasn't. It wasn't yes project.
- 36:40Well, maybe it was tragic because she was an Olympian.
- 36:44Right. You know, if I don't know,
- 36:46Simone biles had a similar accident, everyone in the nation
- 36:51would be like, oh my God, she had a career-ending accident and
- 36:56her friend was at fault or whatever.
- 36:59But again, this is first of all, this is badminton in the small
- 37:06country of Korea. People are gonna come for you,
- 37:08brother. People are gonna come for.
- 37:10You think they're Savage, you think I can't take them with my
- 37:12tennis racket. From 20 years ago, 493, km 0,
- 37:18300 miles per hour. I can't survive that shuttle
- 37:21car. Okay, what I'm saying?
- 37:24What I'm trying to say is the accident was an accident.
- 37:26She never did it go Malaysia. She didn't do it on purpose.
- 37:31There was no reason to hold it against her for three years.
- 37:34And the fact that the friend just a wall for three years, the
- 37:39family didn't know where she was.
- 37:40I was like, who's the drama queen here?
- 37:44But Tim did the same thing which I don't get them.
- 37:46Okay, so the boyfriend pressured her to leave the sport.
- 37:51And she said, okay, right and left, and decided to become a,
- 37:56what was it Associated? So she meets.
- 37:59Yeah yeah it looks like the same time from Hometown Cha-cha-cha.
- 38:08It honestly, I was thinking about that.
- 38:10I was like is that like a Korean thing?
- 38:12Because if I didn't call a like if I just decided to like
- 38:16disappear, my parents would literally hunt me down.
- 38:20Like they gave me this weird fits, this was my me down,
- 38:24disconnect as well. Is that this show was baffling
- 38:29as far as the family Dynamics for this Korean family, both
- 38:34Korean families, her family and his family.
- 38:37Because both of their kids went missing for three years.
- 38:42No word from them didn't know where they were and that just
- 38:46doesn't fly in a, Hispanic household.
- 38:49Like the mom, hurt. His mom.
- 38:53I won't Point says, have you heard from Ted?
- 38:55I like Ted June. At all.
- 38:59And I'm like, why are you at just call him?
- 39:02There's no. Like, they have unresolved
- 39:06texting his sister or like Instagram, Instagram DNR, you
- 39:10alive. I'm like, my mom would have
- 39:12thrown that time played out across the world and would have
- 39:14found him like it would not have gone.
- 39:18Like, I literally have to text my mom, if she's not in town
- 39:20every day. Yeah, just know that I'm alive.
- 39:22Yes, just for that. Like hey, I'm alive love you.
- 39:25Bye. That's it.
- 39:26And it was weird. Because the parents are so
- 39:29obsessed. So obsessed with the sister
- 39:32with, I'm not even going to try to pronounce her name with a
- 39:35sister. They're so freaking obsessed.
- 39:37It's there. She's the apple of the eye but
- 39:40then they okay with her disappearing for three years and
- 39:43not saying one, single thing, ridiculous?
- 39:46I don't like it tomatoes. And they know there's a
- 39:50recurring theme of people disappearing when the show
- 39:53because it Stan, it's the sister even drunk one at the Towards
- 39:58the end, like his old girlfriend is reading articles to try to
- 40:01track down what the hell he's thinking, because he doesn't
- 40:03really answer her calls, like, everyone's just going AWOL all
- 40:07the time, and then they come back and it, then the person is
- 40:09perfectly fine. I'd be like, no, no, no gold.
- 40:13Like talk to the hand, cause you left me on read for freaking
- 40:15weeks and you didn't pick up my call like, no, I would be so
- 40:19toxic. And why were these people?
- 40:21I swear, I'd add to the drama. Not take away II.
- 40:25Would be the drama? I would be every The drama.
- 40:28Yeah, so let's talk about the journey that Ted you and takes
- 40:35potato boy, takes because in episode 1, he forfeits a match
- 40:38and says let's not throw down our lives for a sport and by the
- 40:43end of the show he's flipped and he's like yes.
- 40:48Let me ruin my life over a sport over a girl.
- 40:52Yeah, over go because I want to win whatever it was and I found
- 40:57that to be To be crazy, wild wild that he was like, I, you
- 41:02know, it doesn't matter, this the game doesn't matter, if
- 41:06you're going to get injured on purpose, just to finish, that's
- 41:09not a reason to play. And at the end, he literally
- 41:13does the same thing. Yeah, yeah.
- 41:16That was one of the main reasons why I liked him from very
- 41:19beginning, like, my first impressions when I was writing
- 41:22it down. Was that I really love the fact
- 41:24that he set that at the very beginning.
- 41:26Yes. Because all dramas have that
- 41:28know, like, we have to endure, like we have to continue like,
- 41:32we have to give it our all. So when he said that coming
- 41:34bright at the very beginning, I was like, oh my God, I is gonna
- 41:37be different. How you doing and then,
- 41:41obviously, As I started watching the drama, I'm like, oh my God,
- 41:44he's gonna devolve, he's gonna go back and he's gonna be what,
- 41:50I guess a good Korean boy would be our good Korean man, which
- 41:54would be just endure, mmm, and be okay with him.
- 41:57Well, she was the same way at first.
- 42:00Oh, because she was holding back everything, anything.
- 42:05Anybody made fun of her? Anybody abused her and trampled
- 42:10on her and she just took it. It which I never sat well with
- 42:13me. In episode, once you get slapped
- 42:17in the face with a damp Jersey, like the Nuna care.
- 42:22No, no, no. The onion with the divorce, the
- 42:25divorcee unnie on the team. He came from behind and like
- 42:31snatched the Jersey out of her hand and then slapped it across
- 42:33her face with it, look one damn Jersey to the face, and I'd be
- 42:37throwing hands up on that roof. I was livid and there was no
- 42:41reason for that behavior to me, there's no reason was Three
- 42:44years of guilt, like I can load our noses about me.
- 42:48I can relate to toxicity. Like I can understand where it's
- 42:50coming from and like bad behaviors and stuff with taejoon
- 42:53for example, with his Evolution. Like when he started, he wasn't
- 42:57passionate about the sport for him, it was just a job, you
- 43:00know, he was never really good enough in his parents eyes.
- 43:02He was never good enough in the world's eyes because of his
- 43:04sister, right? So to him, it was just like,
- 43:06don't throw your life away for this but then towards the end of
- 43:09the show, he's trying to increase the percentage of this
- 43:12girl saying yes to him of Tanzania.
- 43:14So him and then he's really like, that's just him ready to
- 43:17lay it all on the line, because it means so much to him that
- 43:20they can make it to the next thing it would take down.
- 43:23Like, I understand how guilt can eat someone up to the point
- 43:27where, like they will take the punishment and the chastising
- 43:31because they feel like they don't deserve better and they
- 43:34feel like they deserve the. So she ruined her friends life
- 43:38and career and the hopes of Korea having an Olympian in
- 43:41badminton. And now she deserves to be
- 43:44Slapped in the face with a wet Jersey.
- 43:47To me, it was actually an episode.
- 43:51Where is it? I can't find my notes.
- 43:54I believe it was an episode eight or so, that her character
- 43:59started to make sense. At first, I was really pissed
- 44:03off that she was allowing people to treat her so badly.
- 44:08But there was a point where she's going to confront her
- 44:12birth mother and it kind of opened my eyes to Her as like a
- 44:19character, and it made sense to me why she was allowing people
- 44:23to do these things to her. Aside from like, being like
- 44:30engulfed in guilt. It was also, part of her, whole
- 44:35lack of Love. Yeah, she Andaman.
- 44:38Yeah, she literally like, her mother literally decided when
- 44:44she was not like a toddler. A baby.
- 44:47Like a big kid? Yeah.
- 44:49To just drop her off with her grandma and, like disappear.
- 44:52At least. That's what I understood.
- 44:53Yeah, that's what. So it it made sense to me.
- 44:57That she was so willing to let people just trample all over
- 45:05her. It's in your.
- 45:08It's an episode 11 notes louder. So, the mother confrontation, a
- 45:13get like you already said, abandonment rope.
- 45:15She outright asks, her mom, why did you abandon me?
- 45:19Why did you give birth to me? And the mom says that she gave
- 45:22her up for adoption. So she could play badminton and
- 45:25that she only would have been in her daughter's way and the, you
- 45:31know, taehyung says, do you know how pathetically I've lived
- 45:34playing badminton because it So intrinsically tied to her Worth
- 45:40to her family. So if she's wanted and she's
- 45:44actually scolds her, mom, her biological mom that she should
- 45:48have just loved her. That would have been enough and
- 45:51she says, like, does love cost money and the mom says, of
- 45:55course love costs money, everything costs money, which I
- 46:00thought that's a terrible answer.
- 46:03If any moms are out there, listening don't ever See that
- 46:07love costs money to your daughter, whom you abandoned?
- 46:13Yeah, to her face. Yeah, you know that the show had
- 46:17a few good lines here and there, that was not one of them, that
- 46:20was not what I think. I have noticed that actually as
- 46:27like, a kdrama Trope, I don't know if Kathy remembers but I,
- 46:32when I first started watching kdramas, I didn't have anybody
- 46:35to talk to about them. So I would just tell her things
- 46:39and she'd be like, sure, sure, sure, go ahead.
- 46:41It's fine. And I did notice that.
- 46:44Usually, unlike western series, Western shows, mothers are seen
- 46:50as this, like, perfect being, you don't really Mother's
- 46:55abandoning their kids and just like leaving them.
- 46:58Usually if they have been in them than the whole plot, is
- 47:01them trying to look for the like son or daughter or whatever.
- 47:05But I've noticed that in kdramas, you see a lot of
- 47:09questionable parenting. Oh yeah, General.
- 47:13Yes. Absolutely yeah.
- 47:16And in this scene which I found really sad obviously and kind of
- 47:21impactful even if some of the lines like of This love costs
- 47:24money is like don't say that. Hey, so listen to jail over a
- 47:30little bit, my love, don't close the thing.
- 47:37Okay? So now I need to go and listen
- 47:40to the JLo in a corner. Um, she says, stop making
- 47:43excuses. Why don't you love me?
- 47:45Why did you make me desperate for love, which is what Lauda
- 47:49was saying, is that she's so love deprived.
- 47:53They're deprived of love and then she is like doubled over on
- 47:57the floor, as she's crying saying, how can I break up with
- 48:01him when he gave me something? Even my parents did not.
- 48:06I cried. That's, I just have my notes.
- 48:11Oh my God. I found that really sad.
- 48:15I thought that was just sad. Go for I thought the show had
- 48:21like a Recurring themes and like even though there was a lot of
- 48:26lack of communication in the show in general there was
- 48:29something about them finding each other or running into each
- 48:32other. That always kind of was like,
- 48:34like I remember her telling him about her mom.
- 48:37And that's how he knew where to go this time, but there was
- 48:40just, I don't know, like, when he got in and that moment I was
- 48:43like that was one of those moments that kept me watching
- 48:46the show is what I'm trying to say.
- 48:48Yeah, those were the cute little moments of magic that they
- 48:51actually were able to give us in.
- 48:53The midst of the average, you know?
- 48:56Badminton. Yeah.
- 48:59Because he says, you know, she's trying to egg him on to break up
- 49:03with her because she, of course, now the cats out of the bag,
- 49:06everyone knows who everybody is and they have beef, their
- 49:10families have beef, so they can be together.
- 49:12Star-crossed lovers, another Trope.
- 49:14Yeah. And she says, I don't pity you.
- 49:18I simply love you. That's all.
- 49:22I cried. It was my nose.
- 49:24I have help II didn't I didn't cry with the show at all.
- 49:29I don't usually cry with shows but I did cry with extraordinary
- 49:32attorney wouldn't leave that for another conversation but this
- 49:36show did not make me cry in that sense.
- 49:37But what I did appreciate about it, it's not a Trope but a theme
- 49:42the theme of perseverance. Like I don't consider myself to
- 49:45be someone who perseveres in spite of people telling me notes
- 49:48on my face and take agent just like Taught me how, like, during
- 49:52the show, and every way with, like, with getting in on the
- 49:56team, with getting the coach to get her back.
- 49:59When she left 75 times with even forging, some sort of allyship
- 50:04with junk one. So that he would also help, you
- 50:06know, get her back with his parents, with his sister, with
- 50:10everyone, like his, the way that that man persevered and at the
- 50:13end to get to the hundred percent for her to take him
- 50:15back. I'm like this girl gave you
- 50:17nothing bro. Like you really are fighting for
- 50:19by yourself on this corner. Bob King.
- 50:22Like I really love that in a way because I got an idea, it's not
- 50:25something like, if someone tells me, you know, or there's like
- 50:27our someone leaves me on read, like, that's the ends.
- 50:30Like, I don't go any further than that, right?
- 50:32So I really admire that from him.
- 50:34And there was a lot of a little Yuri, human was another
- 50:39character. That was a very perseverance and
- 50:41very persistent. So I thought that was a running
- 50:44theme in the show. In general, I love that.
- 50:46I love that. Yeah.
- 50:48And also forgiveness, and like, Genuine remorse, and the whole
- 50:53thing of like I'm going to become a better person so that
- 50:55you were forgiveness can be worth something.
- 50:57And you can be like into it, I think I think those two themes,
- 51:01like guilt and forgiveness as a whole wrapped into a burrito,
- 51:05we're like very present throughout and it was very
- 51:08realistic, very like a tune to what it could happen today in
- 51:11life. So I also enjoyed that.
- 51:13Absolutely, yeah, I agree with you 100. 100 percentile of those
- 51:16themes. And again, I want to jump back
- 51:20real fast. To you didn't cry Kathy.
- 51:23I did not cry up until episode 15 when she they have that
- 51:29shitty meteor shower which wasn't a meteor showers of
- 51:32thunderstorm, right? They wish though they kick.
- 51:36They say what their wishes are. He was like I want to kiss you
- 51:38the kiss at night, great love it.
- 51:40Then she said bitch her wish was I love when people cheer for me.
- 51:44I want someone to cheer for me like sincerely that was her wish
- 51:47fine. Whatever.
- 51:48You don't think they're going to deliver on this.
- 51:50The In it, the very next day, they're pulling up on the in the
- 51:54bus, for the tournament and they see this student fangirl fangirl
- 51:59outside, they think is for Jung hwan, it's not for Jung hwan.
- 52:04It is her half-sister, her biological half-sister that she
- 52:09met once at one time outside the cafe, her mom's Café, and I lost
- 52:14it. I lost it.
- 52:15I started crying with the bus sign and she's cheering her on
- 52:19one knee. I love you.
- 52:21Like let's do it and it just it hit all the right notes for me
- 52:26because she has such a troubled relationship with her family and
- 52:31know what you like. Even though her dad is a coach a
- 52:34badminton coach. He never comes to her
- 52:36tournaments or games or whatever and she has a fractured
- 52:40relationship with her mother. She's like I'm never coming back
- 52:43here again. Like it's very dramatic for her
- 52:46sister to show up. No questions asked and cheer for
- 52:49her even though they really don't.
- 52:50Have a connection or relationship meant so much to me
- 52:54personally I feel like hit me right in the feels.
- 52:58So man, right after that, wish I was like I thought I tossed it
- 53:02in the trash like literally through that, part of the wish
- 53:06that she had just said in the trash, I was like, whatever.
- 53:09I don't, I don't think the show had a single moment that didn't
- 53:12come full circle. You ride genuinely wrapped
- 53:16everything up, like everything that they set up to happen
- 53:19happen, my thing. Sister was just like after she
- 53:22had her number to text her and like we're talking like normal
- 53:24and I'm like yeah that's not how it works Trini.
- 53:26OK. Yeah I'll go Let it go.
- 53:28Let it go. They did close every, like,
- 53:32every plot line. But to me some of the devices
- 53:37that they use to close. It were so lazy.
- 53:40Sometimes, you. Okay.
- 53:41Like the, the whole closing of taehyung being accepted by
- 53:48taejun's family, like This whole mother and sister Ark.
- 53:54It just they closed it, but it was very like, oh God, we gotta
- 53:59close it. Let's try to figure out how to
- 54:01get their kind of. Well, I think it was just, I
- 54:03think it felt like that because it didn't work like the, the way
- 54:08that they were all mad at each other and holding the incident
- 54:13against her, just fundamentally didn't work.
- 54:17The Grudge, The Grudge, the century, like they were like for
- 54:21so many episodes like the tournament.
- 54:24I hate this girl. Yeah, never.
- 54:27Yeah. And then like they turn fairly
- 54:30quickly. I'll say to your point, just at
- 54:32the beginning. I think there were so many
- 54:34character arcs and developments that were really kind of
- 54:38fulfilling because I love to see people changing, especially for
- 54:41the better like for junior note to be Resentful and feeling like
- 54:47her life was useless and going back to school and all those
- 54:50things is amazing for. The mom also in to not be
- 54:53resentful and like, you know, the doctor had to be like if
- 54:56parked it on how to come in and save you like, yes.
- 54:59You know, it was very obvious that the world.
- 55:01It was like you. Oh, you fucked up her life but
- 55:03you saved his like. Yeah.
- 55:05What a concept. Yes, two wrongs.
- 55:06Make a right any moment. Yeah, exactly.
- 55:09So it was a little bit rushed for sure.
- 55:15But in general I think you know the full circle this at least
- 55:19happened like we weren't left with any questions at the end of
- 55:22the show. We got all our true questions
- 55:24answered. Let's talk real quick about Jung
- 55:26hwan because he was such a bitch throughout the show.
- 55:29Oh my God, I was obsessed with him.
- 55:31Yeah, I love love him. Oh my God.
- 55:37After taejoon. He was my favorite character.
- 55:40Literally, if this Had been a buddy buddy like drama like with
- 55:46just keep yeah like just taejoon and jeonghan.
- 55:50Like I would have watched it. I mean I freaking loved him but
- 55:56also I am known to lie questionable people's that's
- 55:59fine. Well he was again very I just a
- 56:05drama queen throughout the show and then a switch happened and
- 56:10boom. He's like fine and they make up
- 56:11real fast. At the end of the show.
- 56:14I do like the conversation that he has with a human at the
- 56:17beginning of the show. Probably like, episode 3 or so,
- 56:20where he's at, he's bothering her about why she held back and
- 56:24purposely made him look good. During the match that no-one
- 56:27will appreciate her skills if she supports her partner and
- 56:30doesn't shine herself. Why would she do that?
- 56:34And she just goes because I played doubles and fucking walks
- 56:38away. And I was like, oh, like that to
- 56:41me was like a metaphor for relationships and in life, just
- 56:46humble yourself, you know, it's not about you all the time,
- 56:50we're not playing singles, they were playing doubles.
- 56:54I personally liked his character because his Essence didn't
- 56:59change throughout the show. He was Egotistical and a little
- 57:05bit of an asshole throughout it, but there was character growth
- 57:08like he. He did end up learning from
- 57:13human and the people around him to not be such an asshole.
- 57:19And I, I like that also, he's just really hot.
- 57:22So we're not one of my favorite lines from the show and episode
- 57:293 or 4, when the one do tournament was happening and he
- 57:32said one do swag, Don't yes, help me literally enemy and the
- 57:37other thing is also in a conversation with you women when
- 57:40they were talking about the relationship and she's like, I
- 57:42cancel my order and he's like, you have international order,
- 57:46like the shipping, you have international shipping.
- 57:48So it coming but you don't know when it's coming.
- 57:50I really liked that line. That line was so like silly, but
- 57:54it was such a good metaphor for, what, how their relationship was
- 57:56developing like, I understood that he was just he was playing
- 58:01the victim to like, yes, I lost. My girlfriend and like for half
- 58:04the show, he was he was doing the Jon Snow thing for a little
- 58:07bit and then he finally got past it and then he's like, look I'm
- 58:10confused. I like you but I also like the
- 58:13girl just came back to like please just like which is a
- 58:15Trope in and of itself to had. I got you first.
- 58:18Got you this necklace? Totally.
- 58:20Yeah. Yeah, I loved I did like that,
- 58:24they how they played it because the Trope here is pretty tired.
- 58:29I would say especially to have the first love, come back and
- 58:33Now, there's drama between the new Love and the hola.
- 58:36All that stuff is just a little bit 2005, but whatever, I like
- 58:41that, they had those lines. I like that they had really cute
- 58:44moments together and I ultimately like that he got
- 58:48served like an episode 8 or so. Like halfway through the show,
- 58:54Ted June puts him in his place because again, he comes to like
- 58:59her ass taehyung. And he challenges him on why
- 59:04he's being such a dick to hurt a young again, if it makes him
- 59:08feel less guilty about not protecting.
- 59:12What's her face? Oh my God, let me get her name.
- 59:14John Jung joonyoung. June Yap, about not protecting
- 59:18joonyoung, if it makes him feel like less guilty about not
- 59:22protecting her or less guilty about having feelings for
- 59:25somebody else. Why has it been three years and
- 59:28he can't move on if being like this Tagging Mystic towards
- 59:33taeyong, make him makes him feel loyal still.
- 59:37And that like boosts him up because at least he's a little
- 59:39bit better than taehyung, you know.
- 59:41Yeah. And I loved that whole scene
- 59:44because there was not, he was only spitting facts.
- 59:48No lies. Were told ya, Tek it does Ted
- 59:51Ginn was honestly like very articulate when it came down to
- 59:55it. And there were a lot of scenes
- 59:58where he was suddenly very Emotionally.
- 1:00:04What's a word like he's like, on point?
- 1:00:07Mature, I don't know. Ya mature is a great worry, he
- 1:00:09was very emotionally mature and Jung hwan was not there yet, has
- 1:00:17really good communication skills in general.
- 1:00:19Like, the way that he was, he always even when they weren't
- 1:00:23together with with taeyong, he was like, I'm we're not like,
- 1:00:26I'm gonna hug you and I'm gonna tell you how I feel tomorrow and
- 1:00:28I'm gonna do this, like he was always very open play-by-play.
- 1:00:31So refreshing thing for me that I haven't seen like a lot of
- 1:00:34male characters do because it's often like a declaration with
- 1:00:39out of desperation or like please like, you know, but he
- 1:00:42was very calm throughout his Conquest of Terror and and
- 1:00:47trying to get her. So, I actually really enjoyed
- 1:00:49the way that he he was written by a woman and I could take you
- 1:00:52can tell you can tell that he was.
- 1:00:55I Like It episode 9, speaking of him communicating the where he
- 1:00:59asked her repeatedly are you alone?
- 1:01:02He goes like are you alone? Are you alone?
- 1:01:04Are you alone? And I found that really
- 1:01:07impactful because she explained that just explain to him how she
- 1:01:11grew up basically on her own. How she handled pain and issues
- 1:01:15on her own? No mother to cry for as a child,
- 1:01:18nobody to support her. Her dad was just fixated on
- 1:01:20badminton having her wind having her get better.
- 1:01:24And so it was just easier for herself to console herself and
- 1:01:29not turn to somebody else. And she was like, it's very
- 1:01:31difficult for me. To come to you when I'm having
- 1:01:34issues and he that's when he goes, are you alone?
- 1:01:38No, I'm here. So, come lean on me.
- 1:01:41Talk to me and I was like, that is so smart.
- 1:01:45That is a emotionally mature person.
- 1:01:49Yeah, the writer really knew how to write the male characters.
- 1:01:54Not so much the lady characters. Let's talk about the lady
- 1:01:58characters because I feel like one conversation in particular
- 1:02:01really stood out to me. And that was between Taeyang and
- 1:02:05joonyoung when Taeyang shows up at the house and begs for
- 1:02:12forgiveness that she can't forgive herself.
- 1:02:14Unless joonyoung forgives her and only was like, Why did you
- 1:02:20think me when we when I was back in the hospital, three years ago
- 1:02:25and the flashback is her taehyung crying at her bedside
- 1:02:29on these. Like I'm gonna get rehab, it's
- 1:02:32going to be fine. No use crying over spilled milk.
- 1:02:35And taeyoung says, thank you for covering for me and she was
- 1:02:39crying not over her friends injury or you know possible,
- 1:02:44career career end, she was thinking about herself.
- 1:02:50And being selfish in that moment and it was the same in present
- 1:02:57day and that's what joonyoung was saying, was that, even now,
- 1:03:02as you're begging for forgiveness, you're thinking
- 1:03:05about how it makes you feel how belatedly exposing the truth is
- 1:03:11just to make you feel better. And I was like fuck.
- 1:03:18It makes you think like a lot of times I feel like people when
- 1:03:24someone does you wrong. You don't I don't think you
- 1:03:29negate when they come and say sorry.
- 1:03:32Yeah, but the friend did and she called her on her bullshit.
- 1:03:38I I think it goes back to taehyung making badminton her
- 1:03:46whole life, if she had come clean and she like, said, it's
- 1:03:53my fault or whatever it might have affected her ability to
- 1:03:56play. And in her mind and she couldn't
- 1:03:58play. Nobody would love her.
- 1:04:00Mmm. So I understand that.
- 1:04:02She was being selfish but once you get to know too young as a
- 1:04:05character you understand where she was coming from even even
- 1:04:11the the the idea that she's doing it for herself at the end.
- 1:04:16It's also just part of her whole character, just trying to get
- 1:04:23over years and years and years of trauma.
- 1:04:27So to me, it made sense why she was being selfish.
- 1:04:32I also like the fact that Joo Jung called her out on it, but
- 1:04:38It's, I don't know how to say it.
- 1:04:40They understand each other way, better by the end of the show
- 1:04:43where they both have emotional trauma, and, and baggage, and
- 1:04:48they shouldn't be tearing each other down.
- 1:04:51They should be lifting each other up.
- 1:04:54The same time. I feel like at the time of the
- 1:04:56accident Taeyang was supposed to be around 21, 22 show me a 22
- 1:05:00year. Old Olympian who isn't
- 1:05:02self-absorbed? Mmm, Yeah.
- 1:05:03Like that's you're not going to find that Doma.
- 1:05:05So of course she was, you know, thank you for not ruining my
- 1:05:09career because yours is like, but mine is like still kind of
- 1:05:12thriving, Sofia. I appreciate that horse.
- 1:05:15Who was wrong, but it was definitely a lack of maturity
- 1:05:19based on age. Abandonment issues and a bunch
- 1:05:21of others, for sure, for sure. Um, I like to talk about TED
- 1:05:27June and his mom, let's talk about this.
- 1:05:31So the Mom first of all both parents are terrible because
- 1:05:36neither of them went to go see him play ever in his 25 years.
- 1:05:40Never went to go see there's some play badminton or strike.
- 1:05:44One strike two. This story that he tells of the
- 1:05:49mom cooking Silkie chicken soup. That was only for her Her
- 1:05:53sister, and the mom actively lying to him saying, oh no, this
- 1:05:59isn't Silkie chicken soup, this is crows, meat soup, you don't
- 1:06:02want any of this anyway and say he says that she got all this
- 1:06:07special food like luxury, special food that the mom cooked
- 1:06:11for her while he never got any of that.
- 1:06:14And I like, am I not to have what the actual fuck?
- 1:06:17Because, the parents. So, obviously loved and cared
- 1:06:22for his older sister. More than him and I think it
- 1:06:25went beyond favoritism. Yeah, it wasn't a collect.
- 1:06:29It was neglect. Literally.
- 1:06:30Yeah, literally yeah. In episode 6 they might note
- 1:06:37say, taejun's parents can go suck in a big Factory issue
- 1:06:42because at one point I had one point, they literally said, I
- 1:06:48wish it had been taejun, who got hurt and not joonyoung.
- 1:06:52And I'm like, wow. How how can a parent wish for an
- 1:06:57injury on, like, what child like.
- 1:06:59Yeah, I was like, are you kidding me?
- 1:07:01Like, usually, it's like, I wish it wasn't like, neither of them.
- 1:07:05Like, I wish it was me, right? Yeah, I wish it was me like I
- 1:07:08heard. I want my kid hurt.
- 1:07:09No. I wish it happened to the other
- 1:07:10kid. Yeah, I was drunk.
- 1:07:13I jail. Are they really jail?
- 1:07:15Let's send them straight to jail.
- 1:07:17Look at some point doors in went Asia, taejoon was expecting, or
- 1:07:21waiting for his parents approval, so that he could move
- 1:07:24forward. With Tara.
- 1:07:25I was like, bro, why just move just do it and, like, keep it
- 1:07:28going because your family kind of sucks.
- 1:07:30Like, I don't need this approval.
- 1:07:31You don't want this in your life.
- 1:07:32Food thing was set, was the food thing was such a sense to me,
- 1:07:35because food, especially in kdramas at the very least.
- 1:07:40There's so much affection shown through food even just with
- 1:07:46family members or friends. Asking if another person's eaten
- 1:07:49like, have you eaten? That's like the first thing they
- 1:07:50say and they nurtured her and left him out to dry.
- 1:07:56And the sister had no qualms about it.
- 1:08:00She never saw or cared about this Injustice within the family
- 1:08:04and the cruelty of it and she just goes like the narcissist
- 1:08:08that g is she was like I'm better than you so that's why
- 1:08:11they did it. Terrible terrible, curly to.
- 1:08:16That's one of the things that I didn't like about his character
- 1:08:19was the fact that he was still such a good team long-suffering
- 1:08:23in real life in real life. I'm pretty sure somebody would
- 1:08:26been like peace you guys suck. I'm leaving, like, is it truly
- 1:08:34made no sense to me how he was able to still sit with his
- 1:08:40parents have meals with them? Go visit them, like, literally,
- 1:08:44they hated him. Yeah, no.
- 1:08:46He like gives her, the metal, like, the silver medal and he's,
- 1:08:49I wouldn't give a remote, it's over.
- 1:08:50But like, it. I still work very hard.
- 1:08:53And then how she finally was like, I'm not a good enough
- 1:08:55parent. I'm like, yeah, Bingo true.
- 1:08:57Gotta hit the nail on the head. First thing, you've said, all
- 1:09:00freaking show that makes sense. Lady literally look as she was
- 1:09:04the worst, but I love this scene that they had in episode 11
- 1:09:09where he meets her Her outside of this restaurant because she
- 1:09:13comes into the city. She took a taxi all in a fury
- 1:09:17all the way to Seoul to pump him for info on the sis because all
- 1:09:22of a sudden the sisters, like, yeah, I did it to save a junior.
- 1:09:26And that's all she says is a mom.
- 1:09:27So the mom went to a little too, and then possibly to confront
- 1:09:31the junior player that she did, she was like, I'm just gonna
- 1:09:34like go and like figure it out. And once she gets there, she
- 1:09:37comes down and says, oh, I'll just trust my daughter and wait
- 1:09:41for her too. Tell me the full story because
- 1:09:43there's probably a reason why she didn't tell me everything,
- 1:09:46which in Hispanic household doesn't even that doesn't
- 1:09:49happen, Carol. A, my mother would beat me to
- 1:09:52get the answer, don't be what happened anyway, but in that
- 1:09:58moment, where they're in the restaurant, and he bought her
- 1:10:01like a burger. He's very emotional and it's
- 1:10:04such a quiet moment. Between them, a moment of like,
- 1:10:08weird Serenity between them and they feel like familiar
- 1:10:12Strangers, the way the cinematography is just looked
- 1:10:15very dreamlike and almost like a Wes Anderson movie shot at night
- 1:10:20or something. Like there was something very
- 1:10:22poetic about the way that they framed them.
- 1:10:25And the way that the lighting was and how she just looks, so,
- 1:10:28frail and pitiful, they're sitting in the restaurant and I
- 1:10:32had all these questions. I was like, why is he emotional?
- 1:10:35Is he emotional because of his relationship with taehyung that
- 1:10:39would break his mother's heart or is the All because of this
- 1:10:43one on rare, one on one moment with his mom or is the
- 1:10:48emotional. Because the moment is tinged
- 1:10:50still with his sister because she came to Seoul just to find
- 1:10:53out more info about the sis. Like I had all these questions
- 1:10:57and finally, I just settled on in that moment, I think he knew
- 1:11:01he had to break up with taehyung.
- 1:11:05But I just love that scene, there was something really
- 1:11:07magical about it and Melancholy to be quite honest.
- 1:11:14And another question I had all those questions but I also had
- 1:11:18the question of does time exists in kdramas because the way that
- 1:11:24these people do a million things in one night I'm like how this
- 1:11:31lady came at night. From an hour away because I
- 1:11:36looked up their Hometown from qingcheng.
- 1:11:38It's or whatever. Okay?
- 1:11:40Yeah. It's an hour away, right out in
- 1:11:42a car. Yeah.
- 1:11:43So have that must have been expensive, right?
- 1:11:46Right. So it's an hour away and then
- 1:11:48it's when she leaves. It's nighttime when she gets
- 1:11:50there it's nighttime and then the restaurant is still open.
- 1:11:54Yeah and then she returns at nighttime it's just so my theory
- 1:12:00is that it was the winter time. So there was a longer, a long
- 1:12:08night time. Yeah, but also a, but not going
- 1:12:11to lie. Time exists differently in
- 1:12:14kdramas. He did a lot of stuff that night
- 1:12:16like he had a whole day of training, presumably then, he
- 1:12:18went to go buy a cashmere scarf for homegirl, right?
- 1:12:22Then his mom shows up, has dinner with his mom, then he
- 1:12:24goes to meet up with taeyong later.
- 1:12:28Give the scarf and tell her drop the bomb on her.
- 1:12:31Oh, Joon young as my sister. Which was a very emotional
- 1:12:35thing, as well. He just had like, all this stuff
- 1:12:37going on now, with one night. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:12:40Yeah, mmm episode 11 was literally the climate.
- 1:12:47Yeah, it was of a hat. It had everything that we are
- 1:12:53waiting to happen happen in one episode, and it was a lot to
- 1:12:56take in. It was a bit a bit too much.
- 1:13:00Maybe they spread it out a bit, it wouldn't have been so like
- 1:13:02Sucker Punch, Also, was it just me, who found the the fact that
- 1:13:07tan posted the what happened first of all, without really
- 1:13:12saying what happened and second as an Instagram apology, but not
- 1:13:16even like a no type thing, like, it was just very like, it was my
- 1:13:20fault, like my bad, but like she doesn't say what happened.
- 1:13:23I was expecting like a full video confessional, right?
- 1:13:25You station. Like the way that everyone's
- 1:13:27been treating, this thing. Yeah.
- 1:13:29Like she literally caused war between countries at this point.
- 1:13:33And, and Was very kind of like, I wanted more.
- 1:13:37I was I was not satisfied with the way that she exposed herself
- 1:13:41and finally came clean like, oh my God, so many episodes waiting
- 1:13:46for the truth to come out and she just posted a cute Instagram
- 1:13:49post, like, LOL. Sorry by my delete later.
- 1:13:59Hashtag. No, I don't even, I don't even
- 1:14:01know. Oh, man.
- 1:14:04Man, oh yeah, sorry that you're right about that.
- 1:14:07That Instagram post was a little cheesy and cheap to get out of
- 1:14:12this Almighty like accident. That biggest issue yet ever seen
- 1:14:19happen in South Korea for some reason to drunk girls on
- 1:14:23snowboards crashed. Into an another and we're here
- 1:14:26through your three years later, with the story like mill.
- 1:14:32Yeah, they could have spent less time.
- 1:14:34I'm on those small little story lines of like the coaches and
- 1:14:38the teammates and spend a little bit more time on the apology
- 1:14:41instead of just kind of like, okay, we're out of time
- 1:14:44Instagram post, it is like, she posted an Instagram.
- 1:14:48And you know what? They didn't do well at all on
- 1:14:50the public backlash and what that looked like, I saw no egg
- 1:14:53throwing, nobody came to her training or whatever.
- 1:14:59Like there was just reporters at her door for a day and that was
- 1:15:03that? Yeah.
- 1:15:05And the players were like the teammates are like you're
- 1:15:07getting lambasted like on the internet.
- 1:15:10And I'm like, never saw a comment, like, never.
- 1:15:14Where is she like getting all this hate because we never got
- 1:15:18to see like that play up. Truly.
- 1:15:21Yeah, and the whole thing of like the cafe worker, finding
- 1:15:26the phone, where the bullshit so stupid, y'all just took a turn
- 1:15:31like just say that the guy was like an asshole.
- 1:15:34And and release it. Like hybrid Cafe worker, going
- 1:15:37to the phone. He like, let me look at the
- 1:15:40videos and just happened to find like the biggest bomb TMZ has
- 1:15:44ever heard of. Like, it doesn't, it doesn't, it
- 1:15:46did it. The math is not math on that
- 1:15:48one. It it makes sense.
- 1:15:50It absolve that guy of blame, but he was to blame like, just
- 1:15:54leave him be the asshole. Letterhead, the bad guy.
- 1:15:56So yo tremendo boom mic that he had because he's right 30 feet
- 1:16:01away and he still caught everything.
- 1:16:04I was like say I shouldn't even have been able to hear it, but
- 1:16:07it's not hot. The high-res HD HD 1080p video
- 1:16:12that he got on like what kind of fall they got there?
- 1:16:14Because I need it. The boom.
- 1:16:17Wow. Did you look in sponsored by
- 1:16:19Samsung and that's why every single freaking character, had a
- 1:16:24Samsung phone, a flip phone. So that the flip phone they had
- 1:16:27like the normal like Samsung Galaxy.
- 1:16:30Like, obviously they're trying to sell that Samsung will catch.
- 1:16:35Video and sound from two miles away.
- 1:16:38Girl, did you like the kahi Bronco bomb?
- 1:16:41Oh my God. Just because I saw that you
- 1:16:44bought it and it's also an attorney Wu.
- 1:16:48So it's everywhere. Like I think.
- 1:16:49Yeah. I think this year.
- 1:16:50It's on every drama. When I saw that.
- 1:16:52You bought it and I've been treat them.
- 1:16:53I'm wondering if it's worth it. Oh girl, you want to review?
- 1:16:56Okay, hold on. So let me put my beauty
- 1:17:00influence or hat on. So I bought this because I just
- 1:17:04It was influenced, that's all there is to it, but it was, I
- 1:17:08think a good purchase because I liked it.
- 1:17:10It looks like a little lipstick, but it's a bomb.
- 1:17:14And I think what's an issue, is it in the states?
- 1:17:16We don't really do that. Dewy makeup look glowy makeup.
- 1:17:21Look, it just comes across as greasy here in the states oily,
- 1:17:25so the wrinkle bomb is meant to look like that.
- 1:17:28It goes on and it looks like you got vaseline on your face.
- 1:17:32Yep. Not the look.
- 1:17:34Here in the States but it works wonderfully.
- 1:17:38I think it's very hydrating and nice feels nice on the skin, but
- 1:17:41again, you can't really necessarily go out in public
- 1:17:44wearing the wrinkle bomb because if you're wearing a matte look
- 1:17:48and then you got under, I looking like, put Vaseline right
- 1:17:52before bed like just doesn't work.
- 1:17:54Yeah, they're like, let me prepare for this date by looking
- 1:17:56like a cheap, but doesn't every she put on her lips as well.
- 1:18:07Multi, she didn't need anything else.
- 1:18:08She didn't need lipstick. She didn't need blood
- 1:18:11Foundation, the foundation, nothing nothing.
- 1:18:21She was like, look how beautiful I look.
- 1:18:22I'm like, girl. You look pasty as hell like
- 1:18:24Union? Come on.
- 1:18:28Oh shit. Okay, we've been ranking on this
- 1:18:31show, I love this show. So let's talk about things I
- 1:18:33live. Okay, I Loved These Swoon worthy
- 1:18:37scenes with Ted June, and I hope that you might have some of
- 1:18:42these in your notes as well. Episode 1, he like tricks or to
- 1:18:46go in these fountains the fountain, very beautiful scene.
- 1:18:51And he just says, I want you to have fun today because he knows
- 1:18:55that she's only played badminton her whole life.
- 1:18:58I was like sold like a bespoke one, I was like they got, they
- 1:19:02got me. Yeah, mmm.
- 1:19:04And in episode 3, his friends call her on the phone.
- 1:19:08Like come pick him up, he's drunk.
- 1:19:10And he's like, no, no, no, I'm not gonna do it.
- 1:19:13I don't want her to come and all this stuff.
- 1:19:14His friends leave. He takes off running to the
- 1:19:18pharmacy to get like, sobering medicine and mouthwash so cute.
- 1:19:24So, damn cute. And then of course, he picks up
- 1:19:27a shit ton of ointment for her because She's got like, calluses
- 1:19:29on her hands and stuff, like loudest shaking her head, she's
- 1:19:32just like, come on. Yeah, that's the Band-Aid
- 1:19:35lights. The band 18 but like a 2.0
- 1:19:37version. Like it's it's I think there's
- 1:19:40easier, maybe not easier but there's other ways to show that
- 1:19:43you care. Whoa, no woman is gonna expire.
- 1:19:46Yeah. I agree with that.
- 1:19:48It was no need for that, excessive amount of ointment
- 1:19:51because it's just, she uses one thing for 10 years and then the
- 1:19:55rest goes away our. But I mean, he looked really
- 1:19:58cute. You look hot.
- 1:19:59You look hot doing it. I'm okay, I'm okay.
- 1:20:02I like how they just cheer each other on and they see so much
- 1:20:05talent and potential in each other.
- 1:20:06Especially her and him and he's just tired of trying.
- 1:20:11He's just like tired and she tells him that when it rains in
- 1:20:15the desert, incredible flowers bloom and quote.
- 1:20:19You're like the desert. It just hasn't rained yet.
- 1:20:23Come on, was beautiful. Come on.
- 1:20:25It was cute full circle though. Because the mom, his mom says,
- 1:20:28It's about time for you guys to bloom in the final episode.
- 1:20:32Yeah, kill me. Kill me.
- 1:20:33Now, I'm happy. The full circle mess of it all.
- 1:20:36Damn. So they miss curfew.
- 1:20:40And they sleep in the training center in the morning already.
- 1:20:43It's morning. She rolls several feet over
- 1:20:47that. Were you sleeping?
- 1:20:57I was in rem. And he wonders what she's
- 1:21:00dreaming about because she keeps smacking her lips.
- 1:21:03He's like, what are you eating? Yeah.
- 1:21:04What you eating like your face? Yes, sir.
- 1:21:07She was eating his face because they were kissing in Her Dream.
- 1:21:11Oh man, let me see what else I have.
- 1:21:14Oh man, they actually win the match at the end of episode
- 1:21:17three and he comes around her and like hugs, her from behind
- 1:21:23one arm across her shoulders. I was like that, sexy can't tell
- 1:21:26me. Otherwise, It's only cute
- 1:21:29because he does it. Like, I feel like anybody else,
- 1:21:32it would have been stupid, it would have been like a again,
- 1:21:35but the way he does it, you're like, oh my God, oh my God, can
- 1:21:38somebody back hug me? Like like just him just him.
- 1:21:43So I did like when she talks about the 493 unofficial record.
- 1:21:49Yeah, you know, she says, just searing.
- 1:21:53That number makes my heart race, as I think of this light
- 1:21:55shuttlecock, becoming the fastest in the world.
- 1:21:58Will I have a moment like that? Someday the moment.
- 1:22:00We become our strongest cells even if it goes, unrecognized
- 1:22:04and unofficial. That's cute.
- 1:22:07I like it like a lot. She goes to his house and spends
- 1:22:11a rainy afternoon with him, and he has no silverware, no cups,
- 1:22:16no plates. He's just a sneakerhead.
- 1:22:18What would you guys say to that? How many, if he hears it lets
- 1:22:23play this game. Oh my God, he's a 10, but he got
- 1:22:26no. So reward.
- 1:22:27No cups, no plates stuff in boxes in his house.
- 1:22:32With that smile. He's still a tough.
- 1:22:36I'm sorry, I really don't. It's fine.
- 1:22:43Oh man. Alright, hello wait, yes.
- 1:22:50Tickle. He just and then he was like
- 1:22:52entertained by his own forests. Like he came over like hey I
- 1:22:55don't got an umbrella like totally Oh my God.
- 1:23:03Hello, but he says, like, let's go out and then he kisses her
- 1:23:07and it just surprised me completely when he like, what's
- 1:23:11up. I think I have something to say
- 1:23:12to let's go out. I was like, but what that was
- 1:23:15quite really. Yeah, but it's cute.
- 1:23:18She's like, I've never dated anyone before he gives her a day
- 1:23:20to think it over, but he's super excited and yells at the
- 1:23:23building. Give me a chance.
- 1:23:25I'll be good to you. He's so cute.
- 1:23:29Give me a cute. Take, but she rejects you.
- 1:23:34If she rejects him. Twice of course.
- 1:23:38And she hits him like lightly on the shoulder and he goes, stop
- 1:23:41hitting me. I'm getting excited.
- 1:23:44Take responsibility for seducing me, it's hard for me.
- 1:23:50It's hard for me to let you go. She asked, why do you like me?
- 1:23:53Give me three reasons and he had it, ready.
- 1:23:57He goes York. Number one, you're cool.
- 1:24:00Number two, you're a better person.
- 1:24:01And I am number three, I want to date.
- 1:24:03Someone better than me. I was like, oh my God give this
- 1:24:06man. You didn't have to think about,
- 1:24:09he had it there. Oh man, everyone gets food
- 1:24:14poisoning in episode 6, from some bad Burgers.
- 1:24:18So that means that she's somehow doesn't she somehow it's like
- 1:24:22Rush thing? Okay, okay no sense to me.
- 1:24:25Like all kdramas, not all kdramas but like a Trope is like
- 1:24:31bathroom humor and so I was waiting for it, but when they
- 1:24:34meet all ho last episode on it I'm like yeah right why?
- 1:24:39But they get to stay alone in the Dorm together.
- 1:24:44And he in her bed. Shuttlecock mobile keep its yes.
- 1:24:49So curso brush, my favorite was, he's laying in her bed and he
- 1:24:54wants to sleep with her, no sex. And he throws up his little arms
- 1:24:57and goes, I won't even hold your hand and I was like with a big
- 1:25:01grin, he's like doing this and I'm just like, you just love him
- 1:25:05for it because, you know, he's like a little octopus in the
- 1:25:07bed, just like all over. I love him.
- 1:25:11Tentacles tentacle hands. Let me see.
- 1:25:16They both emit their lonely and Says oh she says I'm still
- 1:25:22getting to know what kind of person you are but I think you
- 1:25:24deserve to be happy. And then he asks, her will you
- 1:25:28please love me? That's it, that's it right
- 1:25:31there. Let you guys, I already do.
- 1:25:36Come on my heart to. This is so Swoon Worthy.
- 1:25:42By the end of my notes, I was calling him.
- 1:25:44I was calling him Teja me like I love him.
- 1:25:46Ted uni. Potato boy, 42.
- 1:25:50Put inside your knee. Yeah, it's good.
- 1:25:54He, I think, in episode 10, things go downhill after this,
- 1:25:58but in episode 10, she does have a terrible few days.
- 1:26:01She sees her mom, whom she misses and she hates at the same
- 1:26:04time goes missing ends up back at his house crying so much
- 1:26:09crying. She's constantly crying
- 1:26:11throughout Show. And she asked if he slept with
- 1:26:14any girls why? Because she wants to sleep with
- 1:26:17him. And I was like, oh my God, this
- 1:26:19is actually happening. No didn't happen?
- 1:26:22She just met sleep in the same bed, nothing happening.
- 1:26:27I did not. I did.
- 1:26:28I thought it was just, yeah, I thought it was an implicit.
- 1:26:32I thought so sexy to but then they don't have like, they don't
- 1:26:36have sex. So then I was like, did she mean
- 1:26:39sex? But then they don't have sex or
- 1:26:41Is she not mean sex? How did they just that?
- 1:26:43They didn't have sex? Yeah, you know, it's just a
- 1:26:46feeling that I have. Because, why would they don't
- 1:26:51have the vibe after that? They had, she's crying after
- 1:26:55she's having a whole thing meltdown of like, thank you for
- 1:26:58loving me. Yes.
- 1:26:59Yeah, that's what I thought. So you're saying they did.
- 1:27:02So you think they did not they did.
- 1:27:03Okay. It takes like seventy five
- 1:27:13episodes for them to even touch. So like, for me, the show was
- 1:27:17very refreshing in the sense that like he I think their first
- 1:27:19kiss was episode 5 so I didn't have to wait for too long.
- 1:27:22They talked about sex like it wasn't just some like mythical
- 1:27:25things like will never happen, right?
- 1:27:27And then even though they didn't show it and it wasn't super
- 1:27:29explicit like it happens in Western shows.
- 1:27:32I still got the vibe of like it happened and she wanted it and
- 1:27:35it was like consensual and it was great.
- 1:27:37And then she cried after I was like, thank you for that, I
- 1:27:41think. I like taking it back because
- 1:27:43they were both fully dressed. Yeah saying well they're not
- 1:27:46going to be naked and I'm kdrama especially this type of food
- 1:27:50drama. So like I just okay.
- 1:27:53Keep going. They just put on their clothes.
- 1:27:54They just put on their clothes after she was worried like yeah.
- 1:27:57That baggie gray shirt after and like the it just shows from the
- 1:28:00outside the lights on and she's crying.
- 1:28:02And I'm just like, oh, oh, oh man.
- 1:28:11Yeah. So, oh God, I think that that's
- 1:28:15pretty much the end of my soon, or they list that I have here.
- 1:28:19Oh, I do have one go go loud. I loved, loved loved the scenes
- 1:28:26where they're hugging to recharge each other, it felt so
- 1:28:33like real. It felt like that's something
- 1:28:36that I would do II do that. Actually, with my husband, like
- 1:28:40it felt like If I'll good, yeah, I believe them when they were
- 1:28:44hugging and like recharging, it was very cute.
- 1:28:48I really, really enjoy. I think I've read some study or
- 1:28:51saw some headline at one point that said that hugging
- 1:28:53reinforces bonds more than any other like form of touching and
- 1:28:59like it's so true because you know, we come from a very Touchy
- 1:29:05touchy is not the right word but we're very affectionate
- 1:29:07cultures. Yeah, physically affect.
- 1:29:09Yeah. So we love hugging and we, you
- 1:29:12know, kiss each other on the cheek when we see each other,
- 1:29:14when we greet each other, that sort of thing.
- 1:29:16And when I hug someone else and it's for a long period of time,
- 1:29:21it's always like, reaffirming, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:29:25And it is sort of like a recharging moment.
- 1:29:28So I I also really appreciated that they were constantly You
- 1:29:34know, reaffirming their their bond and recharging each other
- 1:29:38so to speak emotionally, just by being with it, just holding each
- 1:29:42other. It was very comforting.
- 1:29:45I like that. I have for for things other than
- 1:29:48what I mentioned that I liked about the show.
- 1:29:50Yeah, go for one. I thought that the amount of
- 1:29:53sports content versus the Romantic plot was like a good
- 1:29:56balance. It was still a show about a
- 1:29:58sport but it was still about their love story.
- 1:30:00And I think there was like not overbearing We both know, I put
- 1:30:05literally junkyards, smile, literally as like, the only
- 1:30:09thing I don't have to like, what the acting was really good and
- 1:30:12the male leads Dynamic shift from like pissing contest.
- 1:30:15So Bromance is really like that. Trajectory that journey I went
- 1:30:19on the with them, like by DT. Like knees, like you have night
- 1:30:23sweats and like, are you okay? Yeah.
- 1:30:25Can't compete with you with your bad knee.
- 1:30:26Like, it was great. Yeah.
- 1:30:28And the only two things that I really generally didn't like
- 1:30:30about the show the cheap comedy moments.
- 1:30:33Drunk coaches. I know the drill.
- 1:30:35The drinking culture and those comedy things are also common
- 1:30:39and kdramas, but it doesn't sit right with My Soul.
- 1:30:41So I just have to mention, okay? And then taeyoung's crying and
- 1:30:44constant disappearing and taejoon acting like it was
- 1:30:47normal. Yeah.
- 1:30:47Yeah, I have drove me up the wall as well.
- 1:30:51Those are the two. He even says like you cry a lot.
- 1:30:53Can't you like handle that, can't you stop?
- 1:30:56And she does not she continues to cry throughout the show, the
- 1:31:00drop of a hat. And even when it's funny because
- 1:31:03Sometimes you'll enter the scene and she's calm composed.
- 1:31:06No crying someone hands her something, she starts crying
- 1:31:10well. Like it smells of bear.
- 1:31:14I feel really bad for that actress because she really was
- 1:31:18just Water Works throughout the show.
- 1:31:20Let's talk about the dad, her dad.
- 1:31:24And how he ultimately didn't approve of Ted June because the
- 1:31:31fractured crazy relationship that she would have with his
- 1:31:34family and how she would have to, he said, she would have to
- 1:31:38work really hard for her to just be loved, be liked and he says,
- 1:31:46I want her to be loved even when she's just sitting there.
- 1:31:49Yeah, I thought his character had a pretty Realistic.
- 1:31:57Translate our Corner, bro. I mean, he was still his himself
- 1:32:03at the end but he did learn of the mistakes he made with her
- 1:32:10when she was little. And I think it was nice to see
- 1:32:15that growth because we didn't really get to see it from his
- 1:32:19side of the family. I mean, obviously, he was still
- 1:32:22very flawed but the fact that he understood where he had like,
- 1:32:27Locked up with her. Yeah.
- 1:32:28With her with his daughter and talked about it openly and
- 1:32:33admitted it. I like that.
- 1:32:35Yeah, yeah. I thought it was cute that he
- 1:32:38the, he was like, oh, I know. You are like your mom like her
- 1:32:41adoptive mother that passed away.
- 1:32:43Like, I know she was mean to you and stuff and she was like,
- 1:32:46actually you were worse. Like it was so funny when they
- 1:32:49were cleaning out her room that they were bonding over that and
- 1:32:51then at the end, there's like a moment where he's like, why is
- 1:32:54she so closed off? Why don't you think?
- 1:32:57Sources. Like cuz you're my dad.
- 1:32:58Like yeah, I get it from you homes.
- 1:33:00Yeah, that was super cute. I like their relationship.
- 1:33:04I think every cage romance kdrama has the contrives they
- 1:33:08have to break up for whatever reason towards the later later
- 1:33:11episodes. And then they have to get
- 1:33:12together in the very final episode that happened here.
- 1:33:15But like Kathy was saying that it kind of was nice that he
- 1:33:20tried to mend the relationships between the families and between
- 1:33:24the parents especially those, who would Stand in their way and
- 1:33:27make their lives. Look miserable, should they take
- 1:33:30their relationship to the next step?
- 1:33:32And it goes beyond dating. So he made sure to rehab not
- 1:33:36just his knee, but the relations between all the parents and I
- 1:33:39found that that was pretty admirable, and he just took
- 1:33:42responsibility for it. And you had that whole, well, I
- 1:33:45have an 80% chance of, you know, getting back with you and it
- 1:33:50went up to 90 or whatever. And he's just kind of keeping
- 1:33:53score of how much of a chance of success.
- 1:33:57They have together. He's amazing.
- 1:34:00Amazing. He should have been the captain
- 1:34:02of the badminton team. He was literally everything.
- 1:34:05Like, without his drama would have been nothing Solid Rock in
- 1:34:10the show for her and at the end he says, don't forget for a
- 1:34:13single second that you were loved because she's got so many
- 1:34:16issues. Look at it all this.
- 1:34:18Again, love is the prize woman written by a woman by a woman
- 1:34:22last thing I'll say is the RAF at the very end of the show.
- 1:34:26Final episode said, love, I'll play at the end.
- 1:34:28I was like yes I love when they say the name of the drama in the
- 1:34:33drum simple Joys. Um did you guys have anything
- 1:34:38else you wanted to add for love? I'll play, let me see.
- 1:34:46Not positive. Oh God.
- 1:34:48You had more - yeah. Just just I personally didn't
- 1:34:54like the filming. Okay.
- 1:34:55I like the there were some really good.
- 1:34:58Jeans. But overall, like they fell into
- 1:35:01this really following the law of the thirds and then the action
- 1:35:06scenes were just chaotic. All over action seems like the
- 1:35:10badminton seems like the back. Yeah, too much for me, i-i'm
- 1:35:16suffer from motion sickness, and that was just like, oh, no, it's
- 1:35:21kind of hard to film The Sports traumas, without doing those
- 1:35:25really close cuts and Kind of herky-jerky filming because
- 1:35:30obviously, you can't film these actors actually playing
- 1:35:34badminton. They're not bad professional,
- 1:35:36badminton dryers. So of course, it's probably
- 1:35:38intercut with real badminton game play from real players that
- 1:35:43they had to come in and double for these actors.
- 1:35:46So I feel bad and criticizing for that because they do it in
- 1:35:50movies as well. Like, you know, Love and
- 1:35:53Basketball. I got these movies, they have
- 1:35:55doubles, or they shoot it in the certain way where you're like,
- 1:35:58no, Not compelled to say that actor doesn't know what they're
- 1:36:01doing. They can't play whatever sport.
- 1:36:05To me. It's just because it was the
- 1:36:06same scene over and over the actor jumping.
- 1:36:09Yeah. And that was like, I'm hitting
- 1:36:11all that shot. Yeah, like that, was it like I
- 1:36:13get, I get it as badminton but like, at least, like with other
- 1:36:17shows that I've seen where there's action, like they'll
- 1:36:20have actual players like you said, and like, they'll try to
- 1:36:23change the view or like the the action throughout.
- 1:36:29But with this one it just felt like it was the exact same very
- 1:36:32repetitive me. Seen a jump me.
- 1:36:35The whole like it was just it was a bit.
- 1:36:38Yeah, it was a pattern. I would say that the what the
- 1:36:42show did badly is that badminton is one of the fastest sports
- 1:36:45there is because the shuttle cock is really going faster.
- 1:36:49Its book and, and they're going back and forth, extremely fast.
- 1:36:52Like I'm talking like, Forrest Gump, ping pong fast.
- 1:36:55Like they're just like over and over again.
- 1:36:58And the show did such a bad job of displaying.
- 1:37:01How truly fast and arduous it is to play.
- 1:37:04Badminton. Yeah.
- 1:37:06So that was Lost in Translation throughout takes three hours for
- 1:37:10you to position yourself. To receive the lake.
- 1:37:12Yeah. Yeah, they were playing quite
- 1:37:15slowly and meticulously versus the actual, you know, fast-paced
- 1:37:21nature of the game. So that was completely like gone
- 1:37:27missing from the show, the actual Stakes of the And the
- 1:37:33endurance that it takes, like they were conditioning a lot,
- 1:37:35but like, you didn't see how they applied it in the game.
- 1:37:38So, you know, it was a lot of stuff like that is a little bit
- 1:37:42nitpicky, but I'll give it to you lure louder, because when
- 1:37:47you stop and think about it, it's pretty annoying.
- 1:37:51Yeah, a lot of the things that allowed us out that bothered
- 1:37:54her, I didn't notice until she pointed them out, and then I was
- 1:37:56like, okay, sure. I'll give you that, like, even
- 1:37:59just the framing of the characters and they were talking
- 1:38:02to each other, it was like the screen.
- 1:38:05And then the one character was towards the left and then the
- 1:38:09other one was towards the right? And it happened so much.
- 1:38:12That like how did happen like a couple times have been like,
- 1:38:15okay artistic but once it happened every single time they
- 1:38:19were having a deep conversation. I'm like Me like you couldn't
- 1:38:22it's all good photo shoot. Yeah but that's just me being.
- 1:38:27I'm not sure if they didn't necessarily wanted to innovate.
- 1:38:30As far as shot diversity Fitness in a sports.
- 1:38:34Melodrama, it's melodrama romance.
- 1:38:36Yeah, but it with bad ratings but oh, you know, they filmed
- 1:38:42these things as they are airing, you know, pretty close to when
- 1:38:46it airs, so they know when they're filming that, it's
- 1:38:50getting bad ratings. So what is the fact that that,
- 1:38:53that the actor did such a good job regardless?
- 1:38:56My hero, he's one to look out for.
- 1:39:01He's stealing Hearts already. He stole my heart.
- 1:39:03I watch them to things girl, who thinks I'm in it.
- 1:39:08And it what else I want to watch all the shows?
- 1:39:10Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:39:11I think I followed him on Instagram.
- 1:39:13I was all these brush to see his face.
- 1:39:15I need to see his face. All right.
- 1:39:18Anything else you want to say about love all play?
- 1:39:22Cheering for the park twins yesterday for the park twins.
- 1:39:25I hope they make it. I hope they go to the Olympics,
- 1:39:28not likely. But, you know.
