When Jesus taught the disciples about his second coming, he emphasized some important lessons. One of the most important was that they be "prepared for his return." The Parable of the Talents emphasizes "preparedness through productivity." This would mean soul-winning and building up the church through biblical teaching of God's Word. In the storyline, three servants are given large portions of money before their Master departs on an extended journey. He returns after a long time and settles accounts with each of them. he wants to know what they did with the talents they were given.
