- 3:53SPEAKER_00: It's going to be epic.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, so back to today's episode.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Now the reason why I want to talk about this particular tool that I use and why I really enjoy using it is because it's a question that I get asked a lot when people are starting out creating their online courses.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: They're not sure what tools to invest in because there are so many tools out there on the market and it can be really confusing.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Now, over the past few years, we have seen an abundance of new course platforms appear offering a range of different things to entice course creators, which is great, but it also means that it can be overwhelming, confusing, and if you've never done this before, how are you possibly going to know which tool to choose?
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: And of course, there is a cost implication as well, and so it can be really difficult to know where to invest your money and to know what tool is really worth paying for because they all make the promises, they all say they can do X, Y, and Z, but how do you really know that it's right for you and that it's going to support you with your online course?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Now, when I first started out, I remember taking absolutely ages to decide on my course platform, and that's what I want to talk to you about today.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: It's going to be predominantly the course platform that I use, and I want to lift the lid on why I use it and what I have found so that I can share my experience with you.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Because there is so much noise surrounding the options that are on the market, there are so many advertisements, and of course, people use different platforms, and what might be right for one person might not necessarily be right for another.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to kind of give you an insight into how I made my decision and how I use my platform.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: So, as I said, when I first started out, there was a lot of noise surrounding online course platforms.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: There were so many tools out there that I found it really overwhelming to know where to even begin, let known what course platform to use.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: I didn't know what I needed, so there was that as well.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: I know I knew that I needed something to build my online course on, but I didn't know the extent of the tools that I would need.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: So I didn't know what tool would suit my needs because when I first started out, I didn't really know what I was going to be doing.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: I just had an aspiration to create an online course and to get it out in the world so that I can make money from it.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: So I spent a large proportion of time looking into sort of different options and signing up to trial some of the products out there on the market so that I could get a flavour as to what they offered and to see if I could see myself using it for my own online course.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Now, the one thing I realized very early on was that there was a lot of choice out there on the market, which all claimed to do amazing stuff, but not everything that was offered was needed, and so part of the challenge that I found was having to understand my own needs, so then I could choose a product that could support me with those needs.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: So rather than buying or investing in a product that gave me every single thing under the sun, I actually really needed to understand what it was I needed so that I could choose the right product for those needs.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: Now, in the end, I think I chose three different platforms, and then I trialled each of those platforms to see which ones I liked and they could work for me.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Now, one thing that is really important to me when I when I'm choosing an app, a tool, a platform is the interface.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: I am a Mac user, I always have been, and I probably always will be because I like how it feels, how it behaves, the experience that I encounter when I'm using my pro when I'm using the products.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: I like the sleek and contemporary interface that has a real minimalistic feel.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: I don't like things that are clunky, that look too busy, or that look old-fashioned and outdated.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: I'm a designer and so visuals are everything to me, and it's of course user experience.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: So when I choose tools to use, I want a clean interface that has a very modern feel and which, of course, is easy to use.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: So when I trialled the online course platforms, that was something that was in the forefront of my mind.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: I needed to be able to pick it up easily and run with it.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: I didn't want to have to spend lots of time having to figure it out.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm very busy, I don't have that amount of time.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: I appreciate that when we start anything, there is an investment in time needed in order to understand how the tool works.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: But some of the tools that I trialed, I found them too complex and too difficult to use.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: They were too confusing and far too busy for my liking.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Now I consider myself to be quite techie, I build websites, so I'm comfortable with learning new tools and new ways to do things.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: So I do have that in my armour, but there are platforms out there that I just could not get started with, which for me puts me off straight away.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: As I said, I don't really want to be watching hours of how-to videos in order to build my online course.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: I want a clean, intuitive interface that I can hit the ground running with.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: If I have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what I'm doing, then I lose interest.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: Now, maybe that says a lot about me, but we do live in this world of convenience because our time is so limited, and there is an expectation that if we do anything, we want to be we want it to be quick and easy, and we want to get the results that we want in quick time.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: So when I was looking at my online course platform, that was something that was really important to me.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: I wanted to feel as though it was intuitive so that I could work out how to use it pretty quickly.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Now, the platform that I felt kind of exceeded all the other platforms in pretty much most categories was the platform that I then decided to invest in, which is a platform called Kunjabi.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: And I have to say that I am so pleased that I invested in the Kunjabi platform because it has been a game changer for me.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: So, for those of you who haven't heard of Kunjabi, Kunjabi is a California-based SaaS system that develops platforms for creators and entrepreneurs to create, market, and sell their digital content.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: It's an all-in-one platform designed to give you everything that you need to create your online business.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: So for me, that was a really um important part of the decision.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: I wanted to feel as though they had the tools that I would need to do what I needed it to do.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Now, Punjabi has been around since 2010, so it's been around quite a long time, and as with most companies, it's evolved over the years as the online course market has grown, and since the pandemic, the e-learning market has grown exponentially.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: There are so many more course creators that are around now because of what is now available in that space.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: So I started using Punjabi, I think, back in 2019, and even in the time that I've been using it, they have made incredible changes to the platform, they've evolved their platform over the past few years to cater for the growing needs of their customers, and these changes have been incredible, and they make creating an online business so much easier because you have the tools that you need at your fingertips, which is why I decided to go for this platform instead of any other platform.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to really give you an insight into I suppose my decision making process so that if you were currently thinking about what course platform to go with, hopefully this will make the decision process a little bit easier for you.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: So when I was choosing my platform, there were two deciding factors.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: Firstly, the interface and how that felt.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: Now, when I tried Kunjabi, I loved how the interface was, I loved how it was being presented and the fact that it was clean, it was intuitive, and it provided a really great user experience.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: So once I was in the platform, the other thing that was really important to me was being able to work out what it was that I wanted to do very quickly, which again, when I was trying Kinjabi, that was one of the things that I found really easy.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: I could literally build my online course very quickly because once I'd got my head around how things were laid out, I could figure out what I needed to do, so that was great.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: So I didn't have to spend ages digging around for stuff because I could pretty much work out from the get-go how to build my online course.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Now that's not to say Punjabi doesn't offer support, Punjabi provides Punjabi University, which is full of support, so it might be that you are somebody that is not necessarily comfortable with tech, and you may need to watch those how-to videos, in which case you would be fully supported with Punjabi because they have so many available, and actually, what's great about their videos is that they're very short form videos, which means you can learn what you need to do in bite-sized chunks.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: I think the videos that I've watched are literally around two minutes long, so they hone in on exactly what you need to do, and they show you step by step, which I think is a real plus because, as I said, your your time is limited, it's precious, and you don't want to be spending hours and hours and hours having to figure stuff out.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: So I think it works really well that you're supported through the Punjabi platform.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: So that was another plus when I was trying to decide what platform to go for.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Now, the second thing that also compelled me to invest was the fact that it was an all-in-one marketing tool, which meant I no longer needed to spend money on other tools and apps because I got everything that I essentially needed from the platform.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: Now, I think when I transferred over, I worked out that I saved around about 60 quid a month straight away because I was not having to then pay for my landing pages or my email marketing tool, and at that time I was building a lot of landing pages, and of course, I was heavily into email marketing, so I was having to invest in those tools, so I saved around 60 quid a month just by moving over to Punjabi, which kind of brought the cost of the platform down.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Now, when I look back, what I thought I was getting and what I actually got from the platform was very different because I didn't realise at that time just how much stuff that I actually got from the Punjabi platform, it far exceeded my expectations, which again let's face it, doesn't always happen, does it?
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we invest in stuff and we're actually left pretty underwhelmed, so it's actually been really nice to know that for once I feel as though my experience is somewhat different.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: So I thought I was investing in an online course platform that offered these additional tools, which of course I was, but actually, in truth, what I got was just so much more.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: So, for example, I have been able to build my entire one-to-one coaching program on the platform, which was super easy to do.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Before I was using a project management tool, which wasn't really designed for what I was trying to do, but I was using this tool to deliver client projects, and if truth be told, I was trying to get maximum bang for my buck.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: The problem was everything I was doing it was just so manual, which was taking up a great deal of my time, it wasn't ideal, and so when I did discover the coaching tool in Kunjabi, I was all over it.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: What I really liked about it is that you build the program in the tool, and then every time a client enrolls in the program, they have access to it, so you can tailor make it for each client that enroll on your program, or you can create a skeleton framework and they just get access to that, so you have full control as to what your client gets.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: Now, I didn't really see a lot of advertising for that coaching product that that side of Punjabi, but actually for me that was a real game changer because it started to make everything so much easier.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: I like the fact that clients can go in and they can book their sessions themselves.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: I don't have to now send them a link to my calendar so they can just go into the platform and they can book their next session, which then goes straight into my calendar, so so they can do that.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: I don't have to get involved.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: When I am board on board sort of new clients, I give them access to this platform, and then they can go in, they can see the curriculum that's laid out in the framework, and they can book their upcoming sessions, they can access resources, and they can also make private notes, and it's all within that space that they have full access to.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: Once I upload a recording of our session, because I always record my client coaching sessions, I can upload it into the area, and then they get full access to it with any notes that I have included and I have shared with them, and I just think this works really well.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: It sort of takes that coaching program to a whole new level, and of course, I can style it how I want so I can bring in my branding, I can make it look really good, so that it looks really high quality.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: I get to show up in a really professional manner and I get to deliver my program exactly how I want to deliver it, which is really important to me.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: The other thing that I really like is how easy and quick it is to build online courses and how customizable the platform actually is.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: I think once you start to work out where things are based and you understand how Kinjabi works, then you can build your online course really quickly.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: So it means you don't have to spend a lot of time sitting around watching how-to videos, you can actually get on and do the things that you you would need to do.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: When students are purchasing my digital products or my online courses, I'm bringing them into my world, so I want to provide an exceptional student experience for them.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: I can do this through the user journey experience, the look, the feel, and the style that I present using the platform.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: I get to brand my online course exactly how I want it to be, so it reflects me, my business, and my brand.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Now, from experience of building other clients' courses, that isn't always an option that is available to people because some of the platforms have limited tools available.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: Now, last week I was showing a sneak peek of my new online course to a potential customer, and one of the things that they commented on was how amazing and high quality it looked.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't build products just for money, I create them to support and enhance.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: The lives of my students.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: I love pretty things.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: I want my digital products to look great and feel quality because it sets expectations of what is to come, and then I can carry that quality through into my online training.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: Customer experience is incredibly important and it should never be overlooked.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: By investing in great design and quality content, you can then wow your students enough so that they come back to you time and time again, building that customer loyalty.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what business should be about.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Creating products and services that improves and enhances the lives of our customers, providing a second-to-none customer experience where they feel great because they feel looked after and supported, is something that we should all be aspiring to create, which is why I really enjoy using the Kinjabi platform because it makes it really easy for me to do that.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: Another thing that Kinjabi offers, which is relatively new, is the podcast area.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: I think personally this is such a great addition because it means that you can provide audio-based products to support your online course.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: Punjabi has now made it possible for course creators to record and sell private podcasts.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: Instead of spending hours creating visual content, you could just record a very simple audio course that you can then sell.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: So if you're in the health and wellness space, for example, and you teach your clients how to meditate, you can create an entire audio course around this.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: This could be something that could be sold on its own, or it could be sold as an upsell to your online course.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: And again, it's relatively easy to do, but it offers immense value to your students who may like the option to listen on the go to your content.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Now, last year I bought a program, and as a bonus, I received an audio course that worked really well with the program.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: It was really great because it meant that I could listen to it in the car.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: I didn't have to be sitting at my desk to consume the content and to learn this additional training.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: So I think it offers great value, but it does open up new opportunities for course creators.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: Now, in terms of the marketing tools that I use, it's pretty extensive because not only do I use Punjabi's email system for all my email marketing, I also use their landing pages and their web pages as well, which I find really easy to create.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: Remember, I build websites, and the Punjabi web pages are so much easier than creating a website web page.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: I also use their funnels so that I can nurture my email list after they've subscribed.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: Stay tuned for that.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: I also use the form area, which I have integrated into my website, which leads to sign-ups for my newsletter.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: And the one thing that I really do like with Kunjabi is their CRM system, their customer relationship management system that kind of sits behind the Kunjabi software because it enables me to keep track of all the products I sell and all the sales that I make.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Now I'm not really a numbers person, unless it's staring me in the face, I'm not always great at digging out my metrics.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: So I like the fact that I have a dashboard with all my data on.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: I can see instantly what my data is and how my digital business is performing.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, I can go on and on and on about the Kunjabi platform because it has been a game changer for the way that I now run my business.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: But I don't want this episode to be super long and I don't want it to be boring, and so I just want to finish up by talking about one more thing that I think is really important, and that is Punjabi's brand new feature, which is the Punjabi communities, because, in my opinion, this is going to take their platform to a whole new level in digital marketing.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: So, one of the things that I decided to do with my brand new online course, which is which I'm going to be launching very soon, is that I have created a members only area that sits alongside the course.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: Now I did not want this to be on Facebook because, quite frankly, I'm not a huge Facebook fan.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: I'm on Facebook, I use Facebook, but I don't think it's right to build my products on there because I think it would be like building on quicksand.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: We have no idea what Facebook are doing from one day to the next, and in my opinion, if you spend huge amounts of time building your online business on the Facebook platform, then you're leading leaving yourself wide open to vulnerabilities.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: You don't know what Facebook are going to be doing, they have control, you won't have control because it's on their platform.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: So it's I don't think it's particularly a smart move to rely on the Facebook platform.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: Now I know there are so many successful groups that have been built on the Facebook platform, but the problem with this is if if Facebook decides to change the way they run the groups or what groups are going to be visible, those groups are going to be affected.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: So I think it makes sense to build your products off the Facebook platform on a more solid base.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: Okay, so let's talk about Punjabi communities.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: So for those of you who don't know, Kunjabi has recently acquired the platform Vibly and integrated that platform into their platform, which is going to be a game changer for digital businesses that are looking to build a community around their products.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: One of the things that people ask me a lot is how do I build an audience?
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: And in truth, how you build an audience is by creating a community of like-minded people that want to come together and be a part of something, and this is what the Kunjabi community offers.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: Now, there's so much stuff that you can do in there, including you can run challenges, host the meetups, engage with your community.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of features in there to make it easier to build engagement.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: You can create supporting resources that you can build into a library that your members can access.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: There are different spaces that you can build out for different things.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: So if you want to create a business space or a learning space, you can do that, but then you can also create a social area as well if that's something that you would want to do.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: And your members can access these different spaces based on the different controls that you give them.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: I really like the fact that you have the ability to host and record meetings within the platform itself, and then those recordings can be stored within a separate space for the members to access.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: What this means is that you're spending less time on the tech and the manual aspects of setting everything up, and more time being a community leader supporting your members, and of course, all of this is included in the fee that you're paying.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: Which brings me on to the cost, because, in truth, the one thing that does put people off investing in Kunjabi is the cost element.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: So the truth is that Kunjabi is not the cheapest platform out there, it's considered to be the premium platform within the online course space because it starts at$149 a month, which equates to roughly around£125.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: And of course, it is a lot of money.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: In fact, this was one of the reasons why I took a while to decide on investing in that platform because I had to get my my head around exactly the cost and what I would be paying.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: However, I was already paying around£60 a month for other tools which can job be replaced when I invested in the platform.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: I suppose I came at it from the perspective of I was building a new arm to my business.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: I wanted to invest in a platform that was going to support my growth, and I was already spending£60 on other tools, and I was getting so much more from the Punjabi platform.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: So I think when I made that decision to invest in the platform, I guess I was coming at it from a place within the future.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: I was looking at what my aspirations were and what I would need Punjabi for and how it could help me.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: I also figured that I only needed to make£125 a month in sales to cover the cost of the platform, which when I thought about it, it didn't actually seem a lot.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: I only really needed to sell one online course, and then I would have paid for my subscription and have money left over.
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: And then I started to use it, and before I knew it, I started to feel like actually I was getting an awful lot for my money because I was so using so many of its features.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: So very quickly, I guess my mindset changed because I could see the value of what I was receiving.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: I guess now I don't really think about the cost element because of the way it has changed the way I do business, and it's helped me to get my business to where I wanted it to be and to make money from the products that I've created.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: I think what I really like about the platform is that as my business grows, so will my needs, but I know the Kunjabi platform will support those needs because it has everything that I need it to do.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: I'm not relying on third-party tools and apps to support me.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: Not to say that I don't use them because I do, but Kunjabi gives me exactly what I need at each stage of my business, and there are, of course, many features that I'm still yet to explore, so I know they'll be there when I'm ready.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: Now I'm not saying that you need to invest in the Kunjabi platform if you're creating your online course, so I don't want you to be fearful of that£125 price tag.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: I just wanted to share what has worked for me and why, because I feel like the changes that have happened have been so dramatic, and I do contribute part of that to the platform that I use.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Now, one thing that I do want to make really clear is that sales don't come because of the course platform you choose.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: Your students are not buying something just because it's on the Punjabi platform.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: They will buy your course based on your course promise, the solution it gives them, and the results that they will get.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: That's not going to come from your platform, that will come from how you deliver your course and the content you include.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: What your course platform gives you is a way to deliver your online course.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: It will provide you with the tools that you need to create an exceptional student experience so that you can leave your students feeling as though they've had a really positive experience and they've enjoyed being part of what you've created.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: Your course will give your you the tools to enhance your students' learning experience in a really positive and meaningful way.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: The course platform that you choose should sit aligned with the aspirations that you have for your business.
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: If you intend to create only create only one course that you sell every now and again, then I don't recommend you investing in the Punjabi platform because I don't think it's going to be necessarily be right for you.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: You are far better choosing a more cost-effective and basic platform that meets your needs.
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: However, if you intend on creating a business that includes multiple digital digital products and you're wanting to make volume sales that leads to that passive revenue, then it's worth it investing in a decent platform that supports your needs and gives you what you need to achieve your goals.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: Now it might be Punjabi, it might be another platform.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: But if you are working on your online course or thinking about starting an online course and you're not sure what course platform to choose, then I recommend you do what I did.
- 36:03SPEAKER_00: Trial several platforms out, see what you like, see what works for you, and then make a decision based on that.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: If you would like to give the Punjabi platform a go, then click the link in the show notes and grab yourself a free 30-day trial so that you can see for yourself whether Punjabi is the right option for you and how it can change your business.
