- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on you. Uh huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody.
- 0:06Speaker 1: You're listening to the voice, Come on dig me now,
- 0:10Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey. I got a radio show.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Real grateful for that. You know, it's funny. I remember
- 0:16Speaker 1: when I first started out in radio, A lot of
- 0:19Speaker 1: my peers laughed at me. Some of it was being
- 0:22Speaker 1: mean spirited, some of it was just you know, marcking me.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I'm used to stuff like that. But I had as
- 0:29Speaker 1: a special guest on my show, Joe Oldstein, and you
- 0:32Speaker 1: know something, man, he said something that was I can't
- 0:35Speaker 1: remember the scripture. I don't know exactly how it were
- 0:38Speaker 1: like we were having a long conversation, but the gist
- 0:41Speaker 1: of it was, don't be upset with where you are now,
- 0:44Speaker 1: and don't be upset with the small things in your life.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Be grateful for the small things and the small position
- 0:51Speaker 1: that you have right now, because you don't know where
- 0:53Speaker 1: that's going. You don't know what that's gonna be one day,
- 0:55Speaker 1: you don't know what that's gonna lead to. And that
- 0:57Speaker 1: was very warming to hear him say that. But it
- 1:01Speaker 1: also reminded me of when I started in radio, how
- 1:04Speaker 1: small it was. It reminded me of when I started
- 1:07Speaker 1: in stand up making twenty five dollars a show. It
- 1:11Speaker 1: reminds me of not having a home at a period
- 1:15Speaker 1: in my life and what God has allowed me to
- 1:18Speaker 1: live in now. So don't be distraught over your position now,
- 1:24Speaker 1: and don't be ungrateful or unappreciative for the things you
- 1:27Speaker 1: have now because you don't know what that's gonna grow into.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And that's really the gist of that I got from
- 1:32Speaker 1: what he was saying. I just wanted to share that
- 1:34Speaker 1: with you, that where you are now is so temporary
- 1:38Speaker 1: because now, like I've said before, now is a fleeting moment.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Right after you finish saying now, that moment that you
- 1:45Speaker 1: claimed as now, that's gone. So the where you are
- 1:49Speaker 1: now is a very fleeting process. Now. You can change
- 1:53Speaker 1: where you are now, and you can change how you
- 1:56Speaker 1: feel about where you're at now, and you can change
- 1:59Speaker 1: about where you going by simply changing your mind. It
- 2:04Speaker 1: is no difference. I'm telling you, folks. The thing that
- 2:07Speaker 1: I've learned about successful people is not so much of
- 2:11Speaker 1: what they do. It's not what they have. The biggest
- 2:15Speaker 1: thing I've learned about successful people is how they think.
- 2:19Speaker 1: That's the thing that's different it's how they think. And
- 2:24Speaker 1: I'm telling you that you can change the way you
- 2:27Speaker 1: think on any subject and start becoming successful towards that
- 2:32Speaker 1: starting now, you have to understand that. Man, the biggest
- 2:37Speaker 1: difference I've noticed between successful people and non successful people
- 2:42Speaker 1: is how they think. I was reading what it's God
- 2:47Speaker 1: said that he was taught all wrong about money. He
- 2:50Speaker 1: said that his father was very negative about money. He
- 2:54Speaker 1: all throughout his life he heard his father say, you know,
- 2:57Speaker 1: people who got money have walked on somebody to get it,
- 3:00Speaker 1: or cheated somebody to get it. People who have money,
- 3:03Speaker 1: money is the root of all evil. Money is money
- 3:06Speaker 1: is this And people who got money, you know, don't
- 3:10Speaker 1: deserve it. They've done something wrong to get it. Yah
- 3:12Speaker 1: to y'all. So he said, he grew up the whole
- 3:14Speaker 1: time thinking that having money was something was wrong with that.
- 3:18Speaker 1: He discovered that it wasn't. Look. You can choose to
- 3:22Speaker 1: be successful anywhere you want to. I've chosen several ways
- 3:25Speaker 1: to be successful. I want to be a very very
- 3:27Speaker 1: successful father. I think that's one of the things that's
- 3:30Speaker 1: paramount in my life. That I really am working hard
- 3:34Speaker 1: right now to become a successful father, not a successful father.
- 3:39Speaker 1: In terms of money, but a successful father in terms
- 3:43Speaker 1: of offering the amount of love and guidance and leadership
- 3:48Speaker 1: and the example that my children need to look at.
- 3:51Speaker 1: And that's what I'm really really working hard at now.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I want to be successful as a father, but also
- 3:57Speaker 1: I want to be successful as a husband. Marjorie to
- 4:00Speaker 1: always know that she can count on me, to not
- 4:03Speaker 1: have to wonder about me or look for me. You know.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I want her to feel secure in the fact that
- 4:10Speaker 1: I really have gotten it right, that I really am
- 4:13Speaker 1: focused on being a good husband to her, because it
- 4:17Speaker 1: means so much to me, you know. So I'm working
- 4:20Speaker 1: hard on a lot of levels. I'm working hard and
- 4:22Speaker 1: trying very strong to be a successful motivator of people.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I want to be a share of information to people
- 4:29Speaker 1: that will uplift others and give others the same things
- 4:33Speaker 1: that I've learned through the trials and tribulations of my life.
- 4:37Speaker 1: But at the same time share that information and use
- 4:41Speaker 1: the power of this microphone to uplift people, you know,
- 4:44Speaker 1: not to destroy. My show is not about Ooh, guess
- 4:46Speaker 1: what so and so said? Guess what so and so did.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I don't like mean spirited things about people. You know
- 4:52Speaker 1: I joke with people who calling this that's another thing.
- 4:54Speaker 1: But I don't like destroying people with the power of
- 4:57Speaker 1: the microphone. So I'm working very hard on being successful
- 5:00Speaker 1: a lot of areas of my life now. Also, I
- 5:02Speaker 1: do care about being financially successful too, because my father.
- 5:07Speaker 1: One of the gifts he gave me was very simple gift.
- 5:09Speaker 1: He told me a long time ago. He said, son,
- 5:12Speaker 1: the best thing you can do for poor people is
- 5:15Speaker 1: not be one of them. And that stuck with me.
- 5:18Speaker 1: And this was a hard working man who was a
- 5:20Speaker 1: coal miner who worked construction his entire life. My father
- 5:25Speaker 1: didn't have an easy life man. My father didn't sit
- 5:28Speaker 1: behind a microphone. My father didn't come to work and
- 5:31Speaker 1: people cheered for him. My father wasn't famous. My father
- 5:35Speaker 1: was just a go get it dude. That he instilled
- 5:38Speaker 1: that in me. And I've taken that and applied it
- 5:40Speaker 1: to my craft and I thank God for him for that.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But I do try to be financially successful so that
- 5:47Speaker 1: I can do some things with it to help some
- 5:48Speaker 1: other people. Now, am I opposed to having nice things? No?
- 5:53Speaker 1: Do I apologize for having nice things? No? And why
- 5:56Speaker 1: should I I work? You know, I'm not. I'm not
- 6:00Speaker 1: on the radio asking to give me money, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 1: so I can go buy a car. I'm working, so
- 6:06Speaker 1: I don't feel how you want to feel, and other
- 6:08Speaker 1: people do feel that way about it. But if success
- 6:12Speaker 1: in terms of finance is what you're lacking, you can
- 6:15Speaker 1: go about the business of doing that. I'm writing a book,
- 6:18Speaker 1: and that whole book is about teaching people how to
- 6:21Speaker 1: become successful. And man, I'm breaking it down in a
- 6:24Speaker 1: way where everybody can get it, man, because I want
- 6:28Speaker 1: the college student to get it, you know. I want
- 6:30Speaker 1: the working mom to get it, to single mom to
- 6:33Speaker 1: get it. The hard working father that has been trying
- 6:36Speaker 1: to hold his family together can get it. The father
- 6:39Speaker 1: that ain't ever got it together and feel that because
- 6:41Speaker 1: of that reason, he can't be the father he needs
- 6:44Speaker 1: to be. I'm writing something, man, to put it into words,
- 6:47Speaker 1: to let you know that God is a forgiving God,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and that God is a merciful God, and that God
- 6:54Speaker 1: can get you out of any situation you find yourself in.
- 6:58Speaker 1: You just can't beat yourself up time you make a mistake.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I make mistakes all the time, man, I just got
- 7:04Speaker 1: to remind myself to get up. I ask God for forgiveness.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'll call on his mercy and his grace and I
- 7:10Speaker 1: get up and I go again. But it's coming, man.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And if finance success is what you want, you got
- 7:15Speaker 1: to change your mind. You got to start thinking about
- 7:19Speaker 1: how to produce it. The first thing you do is
- 7:21Speaker 1: you got to ask. You got to ask to have
- 7:24Speaker 1: a life and have a life more abundantly. That's a
- 7:28Speaker 1: scripture that he comes to you to give you life
- 7:31Speaker 1: and to give you life more abundantly. That's a scripture.
- 7:35Speaker 1: That ain't a joke, that ain't a theory. That's a fact,
- 7:38Speaker 1: and the fact that if you don't have a life
- 7:40Speaker 1: of abundance, you can get that by asking. Then it
- 7:43Speaker 1: starts by believing. And how too, don't even worry about that.
- 7:46Speaker 1: He takes care of that himself. He'll send the stuff
- 7:49Speaker 1: your way. But you got to be willing to put
- 7:51Speaker 1: some effort in this thing now, and you can do it. Okay.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I know I was a little around the place today,
- 7:56Speaker 1: but that's what it was. So you know, let's go
- 7:58Speaker 1: get it to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
