- 0:27And we're live. Welcome to the All Balls No
- 0:30Philtre podcast. Live from the cabin kitchen.
- 0:33I'm Zach. He's Brad.
- 0:34Hello. And behind the scenes, we have a
- 0:38once top five prospects coming out of his PE class.
- 0:42It's researcher Cal. I'm not even sure he'd be top
- 0:45five in his own PE class to be honest.
- 0:48Even if he went back to school now as the age he is, I still
- 0:51don't think he'd be top five. I tried to be a bit nicer this
- 0:54week would be. I tried to be a bit, I noticed
- 0:57to be a bit, you know, I tried to be nicer, bring him up and
- 1:01then we bring him back down. I mean, we could like bring him
- 1:05up and then bring him right back down by saying today's the day
- 1:07he's going to feature on the pod.
- 1:09But I know he'd hate that because he's got like Uber
- 1:12squeaky voice going on. He's losing his voice.
- 1:14So he's very like this at the moment.
- 1:17Now that would be a grey one anyway bro how are you doing
- 1:20today mate? I'm good.
- 1:21Yeah, I'm I'm all right. We had a an interesting weekend
- 1:26the obviously as we, if you listen to last week's pod brick
- 1:29ball season started. So that was a fun, a fun Sunday
- 1:33to just get back on the field properly and, you know, support
- 1:37the guys on the field and watch. It was a real good back and
- 1:40forth game we had, but we'll probably not dig too much into
- 1:43that. But it was nice to just get back
- 1:45to it really. And yeah, generally doing well,
- 1:49mate. How about yourself?
- 1:50Yeah, good one. I unfortunately missed this
- 1:52weekend due to reasons that we won't go into today, but back
- 1:57next week. I can't wait to get back on the
- 1:59sideline with the guys. I'm not gonna lie.
- 2:01It's it's talking football for the past 15 episodes now.
- 2:06So for the past 15 plus weeks we've been doing this talking,
- 2:10talking absolute balls and talking about football is
- 2:13getting me really excited for our our ball season.
- 2:15So I'm I'm super excited to get into it.
- 2:17We've got to jump back to episode as well with lots to go
- 2:19into. Brad, what are we actually
- 2:21talking about today? Well, as always, we will touch
- 2:24on the latest news from around the NFL and then I think there's
- 2:29something quite significant happening this week, just
- 2:33something a little bit important in the NFL calendar.
- 2:35So we'll probably maybe touch on that a little bit.
- 2:41But we'll, yeah, I mean, we all know what we're talking about.
- 2:43It's the draft, isn't it? So we'll have a little visit for
- 2:46that or a visit to that rather. And as always, now I can't speak
- 2:53feature. So, visiting this weekend's
- 2:56rugby league results and as always, all of the balls and the
- 3:01return of one of my favourites actually wives, words and of
- 3:06course, Cal's conundrum. Jam packed show.
- 3:11I'm looking forward to a lot of it, to be fair.
- 3:12And like you say, draft week or draft draft time coming up.
- 3:15So we're going to be talking a bit about that and getting stuck
- 3:17into that. But we're going to hit the news
- 3:19headlines 1st and going off to begin with, we have that Sexy
- 3:25Dexy has gone to the Midwest. That's right, he's moved.
- 3:29He's gone to Cincinnati for quite a substantial deal as
- 3:35well. We'll get stuck into that in
- 3:36just a second as well. Brad, are you Mystic?
- 3:39Because Andersons got paid. It's almost as if he called it
- 3:45there, mate. Will Anderson has been paid
- 3:47after getting franchise, not franchise tax, sorry, extended
- 3:51into his into his fifth year. He's now been paid.
- 3:53And of course, well, good researcher.
- 3:57Carl's obviously going to put this into here.
- 3:59Brandon Aubrey becomes the best paid kicker in the NFL.
- 4:05Who will get stuck into them. Details as well.
- 4:07Now. Dexter Lawrence to the
- 4:10Cincinnati Bengals 2026 first round pick.
- 4:13What do we think of this? Good deal, bad deal.
- 4:18Yeah, I think a good bit of business, quite a surprising bit
- 4:21of business actually. It's not common for the Bengals
- 4:27to make these sort of blockbuster trades, and I think
- 4:32it's a very good deal. Obviously, they've then extended
- 4:36him for one year. So I think if I'm not mistaken,
- 4:39that gives them at least three years of Dexter Lawrence.
- 4:43It could be 4. I'm pretty sure it's 3.
- 4:46So I think solid bit of bit of business.
- 4:51But yeah, really, really unusual for the Bengals.
- 4:53I actually heard it on the NFL Daily Podcast.
- 4:57I was listening to that earlier today.
- 4:59And Greg Rosenthal, he in fact, it wasn't even him.
- 5:03I don't think. I think it was Jordan Rodrigue
- 5:05said it was in the late 80s. I think that a top ten pick was
- 5:11traded by the Bengals. Forgive me if I'm quoting that
- 5:14wrong, but if that's the case, that's like a massive, massive
- 5:19swap there really. But it's I think it's
- 5:23worthwhile. Like Cincinnati, quite
- 5:25infamously maybe if that's the right word, need defensive help.
- 5:29And it's, yeah, I think it's a solid bit of this business Dex
- 5:35Lawrence gets out of New York Giants, which by all reporting
- 5:39that I've seen was kind of always the intention.
- 5:42It wasn't, you know, after a couple of years of sort of
- 5:45negotiations, it wasn't really his intention to stick around
- 5:48and get a new contract apparently sort of turned down.
- 5:50Speaking to the Giants. His agent just handled it all.
- 5:54And yeah, he clearly just didn't want to be there anymore today.
- 5:57He didn't want to stick around for the new regime.
- 5:59So yeah, solid for for both sides, I think.
- 6:02And obviously Giants get a a good solid high end first round
- 6:07pick. But this this puts him now don't
- 6:10he's put some two really close high picks together in the first
- 6:14round, which you know, normally we'll get, we'll get we'll touch
- 6:17on the draft in a second and how important this could be for the
- 6:19team. I think it's a solid bit a bit
- 6:22of business. We spoke about Dex Lawrence a
- 6:24couple of weeks back, how he wanted to go out for a trade and
- 6:28I kind of said I think we got to name the, the, the the episode
- 6:32about it was slinging you up. Well, like I would have it get a
- 6:34game gone. I think they've got an absolute
- 6:36steal here in terms of they've got a 2026 first round pick.
- 6:39Happy days with that. The Bengals, we spoke about the
- 6:42Bengals in the past as well, how they put a lot of money and
- 6:47trust in getting 2 stored receivers and a quarterback, but
- 6:51they had no one protected him and they had nothing on the
- 6:53defence, so they would do anything with that.
- 6:55I think this is like that maturity in our setting going,
- 6:58but we've got us weapons on the offence in terms of skill
- 7:01positions. Let's get some on defence that
- 7:03can do some bits and then we can look at, you know, potentially
- 7:07investing these first rounds into well, we'll see.
- 7:11We'll see shortly, see what's available in the draft and and
- 7:13go from there. I think it's a solid bit of
- 7:15difference, a bit of a bit of business.
- 7:16I think it's great smart on both sides.
- 7:19Will Anderson, Texans signed 3 three years, $150 million and
- 7:24134 that is guaranteed. What a contract that is great
- 7:29for a defensive end as well. A lot of it will be on
- 7:32incentives and getting sacks and things to guarantee 134 mil guys
- 7:37set. Yeah, and I think the there's a
- 7:40little nugget to this as well. It's not just a new contract,
- 7:43it's actually it's an extension. So it's a three-year extension.
- 7:46So they've actually got him for the next four to five years.
- 7:51He's an absolute corner piece of that team.
- 7:54So I think they've they've nailed it.
- 7:56They've locked it down. It gives him some nice average
- 7:58money across the contracts and everyone's happy in that that
- 8:02scenario, that situation. It'll be interesting to see what
- 8:05happens with the quarterback contracts.
- 8:07Now, obviously that's the next thing, isn't it?
- 8:09But we know every year that the the cap just goes up and up and
- 8:12up. So I think they can make it work
- 8:14when they're ready to make it work.
- 8:16I don't think it'll happen yet. I think that one's going to take
- 8:18a bit more time and I think they want to see a bit more from him.
- 8:21But for Will Anderson, they've clearly seen enough and I think
- 8:25it's the absolute right decision.
- 8:27You know, like you said, I called that one and I said they
- 8:30should. And I think they will tie him up
- 8:32first because I think he's probably a more vital player
- 8:36showing, yeah, maybe not more vital, but he's definitely shown
- 8:39the consistency more so than the quarterback position.
- 8:43So I think, yeah, solid, solid decision there by the Texans.
- 8:47That's it. I fully agree with you mate,
- 8:48fully agree. It's cornerstone to the defence
- 8:50now, absolutely solid, solid extension.
- 8:53It makes sense moving on now to a special teams master, Brandon
- 8:57Aubrey, four years, $28 million, twenty 8 million guaranteed for
- 9:02a kicker. That is ludicrous money.
- 9:05He's great money, but he deserves it all.
- 9:07He's been absolutely phenomenal. He's he's he's been so
- 9:10consistent this this past couple of years in particular.
- 9:14He's definitely put himself down as being one of the the best
- 9:18kicker in the NFL. So The thing is, it's a
- 9:21cutthroat industry out there. He's been paid, he's setting the
- 9:24bar for kickers now. He's just got to carry on and be
- 9:27consistent. And I know that sounds so cliche
- 9:30and so daft when it comes down to because of course you've got
- 9:32to do that to keep your job. But I, I feel like as a wide
- 9:36receiver, you could drop a few balls and stick and get away
- 9:37with it. You missed the Fr kicks in a
- 9:39couple of games and you are gone, gone.
- 9:41Like it is a basic position that you don't have the the room for
- 9:46error. So getting paid puts a lot of
- 9:48pressure on himself. Let's see how it goes for me.
- 9:50But you're a soccer player going through college or something as
- 9:52well, which really helps him out anyway, like researched college
- 9:56Corinne actually with an affair. He was a software engineer
- 9:59before attending a tryouts after being cut from his OLS team.
- 10:02So he just goes to show like he went from being a software
- 10:06engineer to earning $20 million guaranteed over the next four
- 10:08years. So hey, affidavit some.
- 10:10I wish him all the best and I hope it kind of cracks on from
- 10:12there really. Yeah absolutely.
- 10:15He's he's put his money where his mouth is and now he's
- 10:17getting the bag isn't he's got the money.
- 10:20It's a weird 1 though because like you say, it's so cut throat
- 10:22and 20 mil guaranteed is a big wad of cash for a kicker, but
- 10:26equally for an NFL team and their salary caps.
- 10:29He basically you could wash your hands with 20 mil if you had to.
- 10:34So it's, it's good for the kicker.
- 10:36It's a good bit of business for the Cowboys to tie him down.
- 10:39But like you say, it's not, it's not a be all end all, but you
- 10:42know, he's proven he's consistent as any really over
- 10:45the last couple of years, a few years, many years.
- 10:48A little nugget here from researcher Cal.
- 10:50I had seen this in the past actually.
- 10:52He's one of the few players to be both on FIFA and Madden.
- 10:56That's brilliant. I love that.
- 10:59I love that ask that they're they're the old Nuggets of
- 11:02information stats that you come to the all balls never fill the
- 11:04podcast for. And actually, yeah, that's a
- 11:07that's a great style is that. But that's the week's news.
- 11:10If we missed anything, let us know in the comments below.
- 11:12Whatever you're listening to, don't forget, head over to all
- 11:15of our socials at ABNF pod across all your socials.
- 11:19Get involved, get on the get on the comments we post often start
- 11:22post after post stories out about what we've been talking
- 11:25about and things like that. As well as if you want to see
- 11:27our beautiful faces and the, the visuals that we do for the show,
- 11:32head over to Spotify or to YouTube or the, the, the pods
- 11:36come with a video version as well, right, Brad?
- 11:40We're going to move on now to a little event that is happening
- 11:43within the NFL and it is the NFL draft.
- 11:48Now a few people that may be listening to this pod may be new
- 11:51to the NFL, maybe new to the sport and just listen to us for
- 11:55those talking waffle. So what we're going to do, I
- 11:58thought it'd be a good idea if we could just do a bit of a a
- 12:01rookie's guide to the, to the draft.
- 12:03We'll talk about what what the draft actually is, what you
- 12:08know, how it works, what this year is looking like, how it
- 12:11looked in previous years. Things like that help you guys
- 12:14get ahead of yourself ready for the draft that's coming up.
- 12:18And as you get a bit more of an understanding, because it's a
- 12:20completely different America does a completely different to
- 12:23say how we do over in the in the UK with our professional sports.
- 12:26And I would love this to be implemented into our games
- 12:31somehow because I think it's a fantastic thing.
- 12:34Now talk about what is the draft?
- 12:37The draft being the pool of college players that will
- 12:41declare themselves ready to go professional, get a chance to
- 12:44get chosen by a team. Now, you might be the best
- 12:47player that comes out of college, but that doesn't mean
- 12:49that you're going to go to the best team.
- 12:51Often you're going to go to the worst team because each team in
- 12:56the NFL gets given a draft pick. So, Brad, how does how does the
- 13:00draft picks get chosen within the NFL?
- 13:03Yeah. So what the NFL do really well,
- 13:04I think is they try to make sure that all teams are sort of even,
- 13:10not even as such, but all have equal opportunity to compete and
- 13:14to be as competitive as each other.
- 13:18So that, you know, that works through the scheduling, for
- 13:20example. So if you finish bottom in your
- 13:22division, you are scheduled against other teams that
- 13:24finished bottom as an example. But with the draft, essentially,
- 13:29if you are the best team in the NFL, so you win the Super Bowl,
- 13:32you go to the bottom of the rankings for picking.
- 13:35And if you are the worst team in the NFL, which this year or this
- 13:39year just gone was the Las Vegas Raiders, you will be picking
- 13:43first. So essentially you're going in
- 13:45reverse order. So the worst team gets the best
- 13:47chance to get the best players or the first dibs of the best
- 13:50players that they want to get and as is appropriate for your
- 13:54team. Yeah, so it it can always come
- 13:58down to but sorry, with that you you might get a player that goes
- 14:03to a team what doesn't suit that team.
- 14:06And just because of the best player within the draft doesn't
- 14:09mean they're going to suit that that that outfit.
- 14:11It's shown with people like Baker Mayfield in the past who
- 14:13went to a couple of team before finding his his hope as such.
- 14:17But this year the Raiders have got the the first pick.
- 14:22You can trade your draft picks as well as we've seen without
- 14:24the Dexter Lawrence trade. You could trade them for future
- 14:28within this draft and then future draughts to move around
- 14:31to get my ideal place to future plan yourself.
- 14:34American football. The NFL is chess with contact
- 14:36and you are playing not a week to week game.
- 14:38You play play in a month to month game.
- 14:40You play in a season to season game.
- 14:41You kind of have your, your goals and your, your alignment
- 14:45set up for two or three years in advancing in, in picking up the,
- 14:49the picks as to as and when you come do.
- 14:51So what we're going to look at is we're going to look at the
- 14:53top 10 prospects coming out of college this this year.
- 14:59And me and Brad are going to give a really how can I, how can
- 15:06I work? Me and Brad know absolutely Jack
- 15:08about the draft, right? And we know, we know what we see
- 15:12a little bit in the media, and we're going to just give our
- 15:14bold predictions to where these players would suit.
- 15:17Now, if any of them come true, we're we're, we're the guys.
- 15:22But I'm not optimistic. Basically what you're saying is
- 15:25we don't know enough about the college game to do an actual
- 15:28mock draft, so we're just going to pick 10 names that we've
- 15:30probably heard quite a bit of. Why?
- 15:34Why beat around the Bush about it?
- 15:35Exactly that, right, exactly. We're going to put the top ten
- 15:38names, see where they see where they could end up and where they
- 15:40can go from there. The college gave me something
- 15:41that I would love to invest more time into and, and, and no more
- 15:46of the players that go into it. There's just so many.
- 15:48There's just so many good players and there's so much.
- 15:50What's important to acknowledge here is like even in the in the
- 15:54States where obviously this is the number one sport, like they
- 15:58even within like the American football media, that media
- 16:03world, there are still, you know, experts or media
- 16:07personalities who are at top of the game who know nothing about
- 16:09the college game that is purely NFL.
- 16:12And then vice versa, you've got your college experts, you've
- 16:14then got your draft experts and and like your fantasy experts.
- 16:17So it's this isn't just us saying, yeah, we can't be
- 16:22bothered. It's genuinely a huge, huge
- 16:25business. And yeah, like, the number of
- 16:28college teams and the number of prospects is just unreal to, you
- 16:32know, So full transparency, that's where we're at.
- 16:34But it's not laziness, it's honesty and openness.
- 16:39That's it, That's it, right? Let's get stuck into the top ten
- 16:43draft picks for this year, right?
- 16:46And they're on screen now. So again, if you are watching
- 16:50this, you better see. We will try and read them all
- 16:51and go through from there. I'm just going to read through
- 16:53the names now and then we'll go back through.
- 16:55We've got Fernando Mendoza, who was a quarterback out of
- 16:57Indiana, Jeremiah Love, a running back out of Notre Dame,
- 17:00Reuben Bain, junior defensive end out of Miami, Francis Moi
- 17:07Moigi. No, no.
- 17:09Maki, maki maki. That one offensive tackle out of
- 17:13Miami, David Bailey, defensive end at Texas Tech.
- 17:17We were Arville, Arvel Reese, linebacker out of Ohio State,
- 17:22Jamad McCoy, Carter back out of Tennessee, Mansard Delaine.
- 17:28Yeah, Mansard Delaine, cornerback out of LSU, Sonny
- 17:31Styles, one name linebacker out of Ohio State and Caleb Downs, a
- 17:36safety out of Ohio State. First, next strategy has to be a
- 17:40lot of Ohio State names in there for the top 10 prospects.
- 17:46From there, let's get a look at team wise.
- 17:50I mean, well, if we put Fernando Mendoza anywhere other than the
- 17:54Raiders, I think we're a bit daft because it's, it's it's
- 18:00pretty much given if you ask me, that he's going there.
- 18:03He's not worked out pretty much anywhere else other than for the
- 18:05Raiders. It's the most obvious pick,
- 18:10Yeah. And I.
- 18:11Think, I think I don't. Well, I don't think I've seen a
- 18:14single mock draft out there that doesn't have Mendoza going to
- 18:17the Raiders. I think it'll it's yeah, it's
- 18:21written in the stars, isn't it? It's happening.
- 18:24That's it, that's it. So I think with this, we'll be
- 18:27safe. We'll put we'll put Mendoza over
- 18:29over to the Raiders to begin with.
- 18:32We're going to move on to Jeremiah Love and running back
- 18:34out of Noah Dame. Now he's projected the top five.
- 18:37He's got some good traits. He's explosive.
- 18:41He's a home run like he he he he loves that rundown.
- 18:45He's like a grinder back easy as he has that speed as such.
- 18:48And he is what he was kind of projected one of the most
- 18:50dangerous playmakers in college football last year.
- 18:54Where do we see, who do we see that needs that running back
- 18:56help? I think there's two.
- 18:59Potentials for me here. I think he's going either 4th or
- 19:025th and I think that potentially then flips itself with Sunny
- 19:10Styles. So I think you've got either
- 19:14Jeremiah Love going to the Tennessee Titans at four or the
- 19:18Giants at 5:00. And then I would potentially
- 19:21slot Sonny Styles into the other way around.
- 19:24So, you know, if if Love goes forth, Styles is going 5th, if
- 19:29Styles goes forth, Love's going 5th.
- 19:31That's the way I see it. I know some people think, well,
- 19:35the Giants got Scaraboo and he was a big name for the few games
- 19:39that he played and before he got injured.
- 19:40But I think Jeremiah Love is arguably seen as one of, if not
- 19:45the top prospect, I think in this draft, from what I've read
- 19:49and seen is definitely up there, you know, depending on how you
- 19:54look and who you believe. But he's he's a stud, isn't he?
- 19:57As far as as far as my knowledge goes, he's seen as that, you
- 20:01know, the column blue chip players.
- 20:03So when we're talking blue chip, we're talking like, you know,
- 20:05you top end of that position when they're in the NFL.
- 20:08So I think a position like running back.
- 20:12It doesn't hurt to have him there regardless of having
- 20:15Scatterboo. Put him in in your third downs
- 20:17and let him smash his head to bits like he's showing he's
- 20:20doing in year 1 and Jeremiah Love can do all the other work.
- 20:24I I somewhat agree with you, I'm not going to lie to you.
- 20:28I I am down Titans to help out from with that you know, working
- 20:35well with a young QB going into his second year.
- 20:40I think I think I'm going to the side running back field would be
- 20:42good. You saying going to the giants
- 20:45makes a lot of sense to me, but I say it makes a lot of sense.
- 20:48I I think Cam Scarborough one of them like wouldn't done seasons.
- 20:52I think he had a great year in terms of running to begin with.
- 20:55Does he continue it after his injury?
- 20:57Don't necessarily see. So I think, I think he's get hit
- 21:02hard, you know, if it's not in his head, Jeremiah Love goes
- 21:06there. He's these, he's the obvious #1
- 21:08backer in my opinion. But I would, I would go, my odds
- 21:12would go with Titans more than anything else.
- 21:16So where, where, where do you lie with that?
- 21:19Are you, are you happy to go with Titan with me?
- 21:21Are you happy to go? Yeah, I think if I had to put
- 21:23money on it, I'd go Titans. I think it's a perfect draft to
- 21:26support Cam Ward, you know, get a good running back who can do
- 21:30it and that just takes off the pressure a little bit.
- 21:33So I think, you know, if I had to put money on it between the
- 21:36Titans and Giants, I'd probably go Titans.
- 21:39So I'm happy with that. Titans for for Jeremiah love.
- 21:43Sweet moving on now to Reuben Bain Junior Edresher out of
- 21:47Miami again, another high prospect coming out of out of
- 21:53college football. Believe it was one of the most
- 21:57disruptive like edge rushers within college football last
- 22:01year. Don't again, don't quote me and
- 22:02that's just from what I've read online.
- 22:03I've been a little bit of reason that I could do.
- 22:06Where does he go top ten pick? You'd say he has that that that
- 22:15that drive to him. Do you think?
- 22:18For me, I'd take the Browns straight out of that.
- 22:20They don't want 2 masks to feed when it comes to defensive
- 22:23lineman, especially in maybe a couple of years time if they
- 22:25want to keep older Miles Garrett, for instance.
- 22:30Wait, did you know, do you know much about Ruben Bayne at all,
- 22:33Brad? I just think I don't, I don't
- 22:37know much more than sort of what you've shared there, but I think
- 22:40when you're looking at this top ten board here, you've got 2
- 22:45defensive ends that stand out. I know this.
- 22:49Then you've got sort of our Valerie's there who's like an
- 22:53outside backer is is seen as a as a rush, an edge rusher, I
- 22:56believe, if I'm not mistaken. And I think in the top 10 alone,
- 23:01you've got potentially, I think 3 teams that are all probably
- 23:04looking for that support. I think you've got The Jets, I
- 23:07think you've got the Cardinals. Who could go that way?
- 23:11And then I think you've got the Saints obviously replacing Cam
- 23:15Jordan. He's moved on.
- 23:18So I'm struggling to figure out who will go where.
- 23:23But I think one of those three teams.
- 23:26But that would also be my suggestion for Bailey and
- 23:29probably Reese as well. So if I were going to put these
- 23:32three down, then that's OK. So let's let's go with Bain,
- 23:37Bailey and Reese right now, OK, Because I would I, you know, I'm
- 23:42inclined to agree with the Saints For me was definitely one
- 23:44of the landing spots for these three without a doubt.
- 23:47I don't see I see the Cardinals taking defence as well and see
- 23:56how they get on with with QB wise going into the into this
- 23:59year and remember taking the QB even if they have a second round
- 24:02or looking on the the free agency market for it.
- 24:05But yeah, so I'd be more tempted to go Bailey to Saints.
- 24:15He drifted out of the top couple like maybe back end at top 10
- 24:19for Bailey. Going to the Saints would see
- 24:23Bane so toe for 9 it because they're all.
- 24:30It's just so hard to predict what a team sees and thinks in a
- 24:34guy. And obviously they get more
- 24:35access to them than we do and what the media do generally, but
- 24:39it's just a difficult one to kind of know where they're going
- 24:43for. Like I think the general
- 24:46consensus that I've seen is that Bailey and Reese are probably
- 24:53top two out of those three are more likely to go higher.
- 24:57So I'd be tempted to put Bane at Saints, maybe if we had to pick.
- 25:01Three Yeah, Bane as Saints, Bailey at Cardinals and Reese
- 25:11are to the go jets, though a lot, I was saying.
- 25:20I think Jets are going defensive player, probably an end of some
- 25:23sort. I think it's got to be one of
- 25:25those. I can't see him going for Sonny
- 25:27Styles. Cardinals could be a curveball
- 25:30for him, but I don't think so. I think they're probably going
- 25:33to go for edge rusher. Maybe so.
- 25:36Yeah. I think my gut would be Bane,
- 25:39Saints, Bailey, Jets, Reese, Cardinals.
- 25:45Right. Lock it in, lock it and we'll go
- 25:47with that. I'm looking, we'll have them
- 25:49down there. We're going to look after the
- 25:51offensive tackle at Francis, Moigi.
- 25:55Francis, right, is what his name is.
- 25:58Looking from there. Now for me, I would look, I'd be
- 26:03looking here at the Browns. I think the Browns could look at
- 26:05strengthening that the offensive line a little bit to kind of
- 26:10protect Sanders going in next year.
- 26:14Just a bit of help there. Get a top ten draft pick.
- 26:16Yeah, get a solid instead of a name.
- 26:19I mean, look at Will Campbell from last year come out.
- 26:22He played good, not amazing, but played good for his first year.
- 26:28As you know, if you're an offensive lineman, you're in the
- 26:30top you're going to top ten. You are a good offensive
- 26:32lineman. So I I see the Browns looking at
- 26:37that for me. You got anything else from you?
- 26:41I think Browns is a good show. I think you could potentially
- 26:44look a little bit further down the draft then maybe Kansas City
- 26:50Chiefs perhaps. I mean, I don't think he'll drop
- 26:53this far, but I'd love my Dolphins to get him, you know,
- 26:56boost those trenches a little bit.
- 26:58I think there's a lot of talk from what I've seen, obviously
- 27:02is a tackle is in his right tackle, but the likelihood is
- 27:05he'll go somewhere, probably move inside for the first year
- 27:08or two and as a guard and then look potentially shift over that
- 27:12way. But I don't think Browns is a
- 27:14bad shout. Browns are Chiefs, maybe for me.
- 27:20Yeah, yeah, I'd, I'd, I'd like them a lot.
- 27:24Browns. Yeah, I think, I think we go
- 27:27there to keep them safe. The pressure on the Chiefs, I
- 27:30don't recall the pressure on the Chiefs being too bad.
- 27:33Last year I didn't really lost anybody that I can think of top
- 27:37of my head. Probably the unreliability that
- 27:41they had with Simmons wasn't it so I think.
- 27:43Yeah, I suppose. About half a season or something
- 27:45in his first season. So I think with tackle as well,
- 27:48it doesn't really hurt to have a bit of depth there, especially
- 27:53at a young age. You know, it's it's definitely a
- 27:55position that takes time to grow.
- 27:58Was kind of my thinking, but I'm not against Browns.
- 28:02We can, yeah. Let's lock that in, if that's
- 28:04not in already. Champion.
- 28:06So what teams do I have left in the top ten in particular?
- 28:11We have 4 players left that within the top 10, within our
- 28:14top ten recommendations. Do we see any of them dropping
- 28:15out of the top 10? Being 2?
- 28:19Got 2 quarterbacks to safety and a linebacker.
- 28:21So we're looking here in particular of the teams that are
- 28:24getting beat deep more than anything else.
- 28:27So I think, as I say, I think Sonny Styles with lock in two
- 28:31giants is my goal. Reece, we've already popped in
- 28:36somewhere, haven't we? And then so, yeah, so 2
- 28:39cornerbacks and a safety, I don't see all three of these top
- 28:4310. No.
- 28:46Particularly probably not Caleb Downs.
- 28:49Maybe just he could maybe stay in there.
- 28:52See, I I've got I. Take him at 10.
- 28:56See, I was thinking more The Jets going down at 16 because
- 28:59Jessie got two first round picks right And I said so the Giants,
- 29:05The Jets behind. If he drops down that far, I
- 29:08think The Jets pick up some extra defensive help at 16.
- 29:12But do we see one of again, I'm going to sound really not done,
- 29:20but like one of the two cornerbacks couldn't tell you
- 29:23which one in particular. Maybe that Mansard Delane, I
- 29:28think he was projected a lower end first round and he could
- 29:32pretty he could potentially go down to The Jets at 16.
- 29:38Like I say, sunny stars can go to the Giants at 10 or at 5 dead
- 29:4210. Maybe then they could pick
- 29:44somebody put 5 bit more of a sort of name.
- 29:48It all depends on who's if, if like and what's it called if if.
- 29:55I can't see with Jeremiah, Jeremiah Love gets dropped down
- 29:58and he's around that board at 5 or if you're right, about at
- 30:00three or four or three or four to the Giants trading up for
- 30:03him. Maybe, I don't know, it's quite,
- 30:07I mean, they're already in what you mean up from 5 or up from
- 30:1010? But from 5:00 so I'm thinking if
- 30:14Jeremiah loves not if Jeremiah loves to on the board when when
- 30:19he like 3 or 4 do the Giants get trading up to get him?
- 30:25Do they? Do they need him that much?
- 30:27I think if they're going to trade up there, they're going to
- 30:29lose potentially the 5th and the 10th to move up, but when you're
- 30:32that high up in the draft. You've got a.
- 30:34Big I just don't think for a team like Giants that need
- 30:38position like they need a lot of players in different positions.
- 30:41I just think I'd be stupid to do that.
- 30:43Like, I think there's enough all right, it's not the best draft
- 30:47in the world by all accounts, but there's, you know, you've
- 30:51got your top end of the draft and then it's meant to just be a
- 30:53big Cliff edge dropping off. So if you've got two top 10
- 30:57picks, you don't probably want to lose them.
- 30:59I don't know, I'd take, I'd take Delane, maybe at Miami, I'd take
- 31:06him just outside the top 10. But again, I think he could go
- 31:09higher. Washington we've not really
- 31:11spoke about at 7:00. What do Washington need though?
- 31:18Lots of thing like coming back after QB injury like they've got
- 31:24they've got targets on offence as well as the needs of the door
- 31:27looking good until they went down.
- 31:31I think most mocks I've seen have them go in defence.
- 31:34Yeah, so we're looking at us now.
- 31:38Where, where? Where?
- 31:39We're on the clock with Washington.
- 31:40We've got these four teams left here.
- 31:41Who do these four players left in our top ten draft board.
- 31:45Who do we take? It's draft day.
- 31:47We've got 30 seconds to pick. Who do we take if you're the, if
- 31:52you're the the, you know, if you're Washington right now?
- 31:56I'm going McCoy. McCoy, right.
- 31:59We're locking in Mackay at Washington corner back from
- 32:01Tennessee, going to Washington from there, right.
- 32:07So we have that on the board right now.
- 32:09I am going, I am going to say that.
- 32:17So we say styles. Styles in New York at 10.
- 32:22No Styles has gone at 5:00. 55 starts at 5 right OK styles
- 32:27giants five he was two people left Caleb Downs and Dillane who
- 32:34we're missing out this this initial top ten we we haven't
- 32:37had anyone to come to subway. No, we're not going on Kansas.
- 32:42You've got Giants at 10. It's not.
- 32:43They're not forced to go top ten though, that's the thing.
- 32:45No, no. I suppose you know you're right
- 32:47now. You're right.
- 32:47They're not. I would just die spitball in
- 32:50there. They're not forced to go top 10
- 32:52at all. Excuse me?
- 32:56Right, so you are happy with sorry?
- 33:01Go on. Jets probably need a bit of
- 33:03cornerback help. Yeah.
- 33:05But are they going to drop to 16?
- 33:10So we've got McCoy going. Is delaying going to drop to 16?
- 33:15I don't know. When I looked, when I looked at
- 33:18the bare roof, so I knew we obviously we knew we were doing
- 33:20this. This bit of a drafting today.
- 33:21When I looked at the names, a lot of the news outlets that I
- 33:25looked through had delaying going back end of not back end,
- 33:30but like the lowest, the lower side of the first of the first
- 33:33round. So I could put I could I'd back
- 33:37that and put delay in at jets at 16 personally.
- 33:41Let's go there. Let's do that.
- 33:43Dwayne at Jets at 16, which leaves as Caleb Downs, safety of
- 33:46Ohio State. He's projected quite high.
- 33:51Could put him within that top ten if we wanted to.
- 33:54Or does he drop down to like your Dolphins a 11?
- 33:59I just think we'd be more likely to take a cornerback than the
- 34:01safety but. Yeah, I suppose.
- 34:05Did you? Yeah, we're just taking one down
- 34:06there. OK.
- 34:08So do we put on a? Is it cared down as well?
- 34:11Dropped to 16. What about swapping McCoy to
- 34:16Dolphins and Downs at Washington?
- 34:20Yeah, sound right. McCoy to Dolphins, Downs to
- 34:24Washington. Lock it in, right?
- 34:29Mendoza going to the Raiders, Love going to the Titans.
- 34:32Reuben Bayne, junior going to the Saints.
- 34:34Francis, him going to the Browns.
- 34:37Dave Baylor to The Jets, Arvel Reece to the Cardinals.
- 34:41Jared McCoy going to the Dolphins.
- 34:44Delaying to The Jets, Styles to the Giants and Downs to the
- 34:47Commanders. That's our super accurate top
- 34:51ten of the NFL Draft of 2026. Guaranteed to be right.
- 34:59Guaranteed. Great content, everybody, that
- 35:04great content. Hey, and if if you want to know
- 35:06more about drafting and how good we are as you can see it
- 35:10drafted, do you know what else you can draft him, Brad?
- 35:12A fantasy Football League. Speaking of which, right, I
- 35:16think it'd be great for us going forward to try and maybe set a
- 35:21little fantasy Football League up right, And it'd be nice to do
- 35:29all the balls, no philtre one. And if there's anybody listening
- 35:31now that would like to get involved, drop us a comment on
- 35:34one of our socials or on the video or even just drop us in
- 35:37Adm so we can kind of gauge the interest.
- 35:40Still a bit of a redraft league. See where we go from when we
- 35:42take it on future down the line, convert it into a dynasty or
- 35:45something. It'd be nice to kind of get him
- 35:47just a bit of fun to start off with.
- 35:49See if you can come and beat the Super accurate draft gods of of
- 35:52Brad and Zach within the NFL draft.
- 35:56So yeah, they have a cool to kind of get in.
- 35:58Do not think you've been asked to get inmate.
- 36:00I do, yeah. So hashtag play with balls if
- 36:03you want to join our fantasy league.
- 36:05So hashtag play with balls. That's what we want to see and
- 36:09we'll get you into play with our balls.
- 36:12And so, yes, I love it. I'm looking forward to.
- 36:18It I love it I can't wait to go on my X feed and search hashtag
- 36:21play with balls. All sorts is going to come up
- 36:25just right quickly. I'm going to just retouch on the
- 36:27draft because research cow was blessing was doing some really
- 36:30good work for us. While we're talking about this
- 36:32now we'll just talk about money for these rookies and what
- 36:34they're going to be doing and what they're going to be getting
- 36:36paid and the differences between college and NFL because some
- 36:39players decide to stay in college for an extra year purely
- 36:42because of money and fame and all that jazz.
- 36:44But the, the, the first, the first overall pick, right?
- 36:48So windows this year will was going to get paid 54.5 million /
- 36:524 years. And then and you do get a fifth
- 36:54year option on that, which we spoke about briefly in the past.
- 36:57When it comes down all the way down to 32nd, they'll get
- 37:0016,000,000 / 4 years. So it's quite a big drop from
- 37:031st to 32nd in that first round. And then it'll go down
- 37:06throughout the, the the rounds as as as the doing gets a lot
- 37:10less the further down the beck and all you are.
- 37:14But just talking to like yearly kind of salary they were already
- 37:18getting throughout college. Now Mendoza last year was on, I
- 37:24think his valuation was 2.6 million within NIL.
- 37:28Now Nils are just a curveball when it comes down to the
- 37:31college game. It's name, image and likeness.
- 37:33It's, it's, it's a way, it's a way the colleges are getting
- 37:37round, the way the NCAA is getting round paying these guys
- 37:40because they weren't getting paid for any jersey sales and
- 37:42things like that. In, in, in America, the college
- 37:45game is just bigger than the NFL.
- 37:48Like you go there, there's more people at college games than
- 37:51there is at the NFL for the big games anyway.
- 37:53And it's crazy the amount of money and Johnny Manziel and the
- 37:56first people wanted that kind of refuse to do things and we're
- 37:59getting paid for signings elsewhere and stuff.
- 38:02And that's why this NIL thing kind of really came in.
- 38:05But there's a bit of a jump between them.
- 38:07And we had the likes of like Jeremiah Love was only getting
- 38:101.5. I say only these guys are
- 38:13college kids getting paid 1.5 mil million less than Mendoza
- 38:18and still within probably going to be a top three pick.
- 38:21It's crazy money when you think about it.
- 38:23Yeah, I mean, it makes sense why they're sticking around in
- 38:26college a little bit longer now. It's I remember it wasn't, I
- 38:29couldn't tell you the year that sort of NIL money was kind of
- 38:32like approved. I'm sure Callum's probably going
- 38:35to have a look now, but it's, but it's always been there,
- 38:40money's always been there. It's just always been done
- 38:43through backdoor channels. And obviously on top of that
- 38:46you've got like sponsorships and things like that.
- 38:48So it's a bit of a, it's always been a bit of a minefield, but
- 38:53now it's just they've kind of got more openness around it
- 38:58really, I think a more authenticity around it.
- 39:01So yeah, NIL started in 2021. Thank you, researcher Carl.
- 39:04And a nice little nugget as well.
- 39:05So Reggie Bush, if you didn't know, was stripped of his
- 39:09Heisman due to USC gifting him and his family while at school
- 39:13there. So basically being paid if you
- 39:18like, but it was a gift. So yeah, he was actually
- 39:21stripped of that, which is a shame really, because it's kind
- 39:23of not his fault, is it? Like, that's USC doing the
- 39:26Dodger stuff. It's not Reggie Bush, He's just
- 39:28been given some money. But you hear about it in all
- 39:31sports, like ways around salary caps and things like in rugby
- 39:35league, which we're going to get to like I've heard various
- 39:37stories of like your top and player, their wives are working
- 39:41in the shop and getting paid like 100 grand to, to work in a
- 39:45little retail shop. Yeah, it's.
- 39:47Barley the the biggest story with that was the Ranga Chase
- 39:51one from years and years and years ago.
- 39:53I think he was on like 20 grand a year playing for a rugby team
- 39:56and his wife was on literal 170 grand a year working in the in
- 40:01the in the souvenir shops. So yeah, it is and everyone.
- 40:04And you know what, it's a great area really, because like, these
- 40:08are still kids and they are technically at school to to
- 40:12learn and to do college, like to be to be at college.
- 40:14But like, it's crazy how big the spot on the game's got now where
- 40:19they're having to look. And again, the game paid silly
- 40:21money and. I think the thing with like the
- 40:24NIL money is that you know, you've got like look at the like
- 40:27you've got college football games like mad and out Ave and
- 40:29stuff and like your colleges and EA and whoever are making
- 40:34millions off of these licencing deals.
- 40:37Whereas the kids who's actually, well, it's me who's a great
- 40:40player and it's my name you use and it's my image using and I'm
- 40:43not getting a penny for it. So it's right.
- 40:45I think it's justified. I just the money's crazy, but I
- 40:48think it's absolutely right that they should be getting paid for
- 40:50that A. 100 percent, 100%. And yeah, it all comes down to
- 40:55that and it's, but you might as well keep it out in the open
- 40:59rather than behind closed doors. That's when it gets really,
- 41:01really great. And meeting in the world, the
- 41:03reports like meeting in motel rooms to sort out deals and
- 41:06stuff back on deal. It's it's crazy, man.
- 41:08It's crazy the college game. But yeah, there's a little bit
- 41:10of a bit of information when it comes down to the the, the pain
- 41:14when it comes to to college and and things like, right.
- 41:18Speaking of rugby league, we've spoke about the draft.
- 41:22We've got into depth and our knowledge on the draft is now
- 41:25time to talk all things rugby league.
- 41:29I can't speak. Get him off ref.
- 41:32It's here, right? Rugby league from the weekend
- 41:37just gone. Good all weekend, very good all
- 41:42weekend and we're going to get into why it was an extremely
- 41:45good all weekend very, very soon.
- 41:47It's such a complete scars though.
- 41:49Saints being a Hull FC 2414 not a surprising result for me.
- 41:55I think just he's 1A. He's one of them's digestion of
- 41:59it. I'm not going to lie, didn't
- 42:01watch the game, but not a surprising result.
- 42:04I'll whole get into that bit of a a rope through mid.
- 42:09You know, start of the season. It's it's one of them We've got
- 42:14then looking into hockey art to lose 46 NIL the the bandwagons
- 42:21well and truly come off the the trains off the tracks.
- 42:25The salons are not looking good. Yeah, they they started out was
- 42:30so strong and and I think within our first couple of I can't
- 42:34speak segments I would tip in to lose to do to do good things
- 42:38that are good luck. And these past few weeks I keep
- 42:40saying week in week out, they do not look good anymore.
- 42:43Losing 46 NIL to OK don't get me wrong OK are and now finding
- 42:48form again after the start of the season but still to be nil
- 42:51is never a good sign within rugby league and especially
- 42:56getting nil by 46 shy to show men from boys really in it
- 43:01without one. Moving on to Leeds and
- 43:04Huddersfield 5622 again, Leeds are definitely finding form that
- 43:09is left hand wing. He's looking insane.
- 43:13He's definitely a Man of Steel candidate this moment in time
- 43:16looking unbelievable within top three games there about
- 43:19anything. Did you see any of the games?
- 43:20Do you have got anything to say regarding them three scar lines?
- 43:23No, I think they're pretty much what I expected really from
- 43:26those scores. It's you know, if you're looking
- 43:29at the top end of the table, you've got rhinos, you've got
- 43:34Saints are up there in 3rd Wakefield have not got yet got
- 43:37to yet. But if you're looking at the the
- 43:39video of this podcast, you can see the score on your screen now
- 43:42absolutely dominating Bradford. And then you've got whole chaos
- 43:45starting to, like you say, starting to find form.
- 43:47I think they're at 7th at the minute, but I think they'll keep
- 43:50climbing. You know, you've got teams like
- 43:52the Dragons above them. I think Warrington are doing
- 43:54well, but I think they'll slowly drop off as they tend to do a
- 43:56little bit now, as you'd expect. I think the Lee and York score
- 44:02was about rightly and not in the same form there have been
- 44:06recently. So not as big of a victory
- 44:09there. But like we've spoke about it
- 44:10last couple of weeks, so we probably don't need to go into
- 44:13it again. But you're one of those new
- 44:15teams just like Bradford in the next game down on the screen and
- 44:19just not getting the points that they need to.
- 44:22Wakefield are really impressive at the minute.
- 44:26Yeah, I think when we saw the cast game and we spoke about
- 44:29that previously, it was like, oh come on, this, this can't be
- 44:32good, you know, it's a local rival, blah, blah, blah.
- 44:34But then they went toe to toe with Wigan.
- 44:36We're unlucky to lose out there and obviously now absolutely
- 44:39paced in Bradford, as you'd expect really.
- 44:42So a real strong Wakefield team there in second in the Super
- 44:45League at the minute. That's it.
- 44:47The second is good. He's looking at the point.
- 44:49It's different say like the Rhinos are be honest with you.
- 44:56I've not looked at the table for a for a couple of weeks to fair
- 44:58because being a cast fan, you don't tend to look at the table
- 45:00that often because it's it's depressing half the time.
- 45:03But look at the table here. We spoke highly about Wigan and
- 45:07how well we're going to have looked going in and we're going
- 45:09to touch on that very shortly. But the Rhinos here, they're
- 45:12they're they're 132 points in the positive when it comes to
- 45:17the points difference. That's true.
- 45:19Sure. That's so good.
- 45:20Is that size up a table comfortably as well?
- 45:22And they're just showing to find that like early 2000s form if
- 45:26you ask me, like they're looking like that old team.
- 45:28But I agree and you know, my mother had killed me for saying
- 45:31this. Wakey being in 2nd and Wakey
- 45:33play as well as the player. They look good.
- 45:35They look solid. They look like a unit.
- 45:38I want to be out on that field when we saw them the other week.
- 45:41They look fit to look like a strong set of lads out there
- 45:45wanting to just play ball, move the ball, score it, tackles it,
- 45:49I get the job done, earn the paycheck, go home and that's
- 45:52what you want from a team. That's interesting to see if
- 45:55they have the sort of usual Daryl Powell hangover that we're
- 45:58starting to recognise now. Like obviously Cass had a good
- 46:02period of time with Daryl Powell and I'm not going to slay him.
- 46:04I think he's a great coach. But the wheels fell off at the
- 46:07end and then I think, you know, Warren and had a similar
- 46:09experience over a shorter amount of time.
- 46:13It is good to see though. I'm not, I'm not one that's
- 46:15precious about the rivals are from over the common blah, blah,
- 46:18blah. But yeah, it's quite nice to see
- 46:20a local team doing really well in my opinion, you know?
- 46:24The Donald Paul thing for me is again, Lord Donald Paul's got
- 46:30got more knowledge than I've ever I'm ever gonna have with,
- 46:32but it goes really. But Donald Paul for me strikes
- 46:34me one of these coaches that comes in creates 3 to NFL terms,
- 46:38creates a new playbook when it comes in really exciting
- 46:40playbook, right, that scores loads of tries.
- 46:44And it did with Cass. He didn't you know, he he went
- 46:47to Warner and didn't have that was much result at Warner and
- 46:49but gone to waking at the same results.
- 46:51But it's watching waking hours watching Cass back when they
- 46:54were at Cass, right. But he doesn't adapt.
- 46:57So he does something really, really well.
- 46:59If like a season or two carries on, teams get wise of it,
- 47:04they're not to stop it, but they keep doing the same thing and
- 47:06the same thing until the end of going to go somewhere else.
- 47:08He has to go somewhere else and goes, Joe what?
- 47:11I'm going to create something new.
- 47:12We create a new style of play. I'm going to do this, I'm going
- 47:13to do that I'm going to obviously utilising the players
- 47:16that he's got, but they just adapt So I I love Darpal.
- 47:21I think Darpal, you Darpal gave me feelings at cast that I've
- 47:25never experienced in my life and I don't think I've experienced
- 47:28again from for a long time anyway.
- 47:30So create where creates due. I just it's just a shame as
- 47:34doing it awake. It's been fair right, moving on
- 47:38to the Catalan 1 and game surprising result for me is
- 47:41this. I'm not going to lie, I would
- 47:43have 99.9 times out of 10 backed the walls to beat, beat Catalan,
- 47:50especially with ups and downs at the moment with what's going on,
- 47:52you know, with the the coaching stuff and everything.
- 47:54But yeah, it's a it's a shocking result.
- 48:00There's one result on this on this lead, on this board here
- 48:03that. We're not.
- 48:04We're not biassed. We're not biassed.
- 48:06No, we're not biassed. We're definitely the the
- 48:08completely unbiased podcast and we're definitely not going to
- 48:10talk about this game bit bit more than the other ones.
- 48:12But Castleford versus Wigan, you know the underdogs Castleford
- 48:18who were going to get trounced by.
- 48:20Who were at the bottom of the league prior to this game?
- 48:24Were being a very key key statement there and Wigan who
- 48:29were topped and tipped to to win the league.
- 48:34The Tigers only come out on top 2414 let's go yes the boys right
- 48:4324 what a result we well some we you was at the game on on Sunday
- 48:50the the American football game and we were all about texting
- 48:53you at half time. You say, look, cast games
- 48:56kicking off now, but we're going to watch a bit of this now.
- 48:58Keep in post what's going on him and the the excitement I have
- 49:04when that full time whistle went, we played outstanding,
- 49:07absolutely outstanding from start to finish.
- 49:09Do want to do want to do want to try?
- 49:13They're a try saving tackle, right.
- 49:15That happened and I can never pronounce his name and play on
- 49:19left wing, But yeah, I'm playing very well.
- 49:21There's been a lot of names I've tried to pronounce.
- 49:23If you can't, if you can't tell, just tackles and keeps the ball
- 49:28up and slides our eyes. She's it's Turks, but the boys
- 49:31wanted it right maps, little kick round scoring that little
- 49:35try kick and chase themselves Scar the try.
- 49:37It was just electric to watch. And you know what, right.
- 49:41Last time we played a lot, we played against Huddersfield and
- 49:43everyone was saying, oh, you played because you're playing
- 49:45against Huddersfield, they're so bad, etcetera, etcetera.
- 49:47You're playing this championship team and all that.
- 49:49We played against Wigan and better like that.
- 49:51Played against Wigan and better my heart.
- 49:53It's so good to see and to experience as a cast fan to have
- 50:00that win again that would like that would.
- 50:01Our challenge got final right there, but we managed to watch
- 50:06any of the highlights or anything.
- 50:07You see anything online about it?
- 50:08Yeah, I've caught the highlights.
- 50:10Yeah, I watched obviously. So we had a nearly kick off on
- 50:13Sunday. So as the game was sort of
- 50:15finishing about quarter past 3:30, obviously the cast game
- 50:19had already started, etcetera. But yeah, so I caught the
- 50:23highlights yesterday, just caught up on that.
- 50:26I thought it's just a solid, a solid all team performance.
- 50:31Papa Langer had an absolute ball of a game.
- 50:35He is a signing and a half. We just need to lock him up.
- 50:40But yeah, just a, just a general massive victory for Cass and it
- 50:43was needed, you know, that's took us up from 14th to 11th in
- 50:46the table. It just gives you that little
- 50:49boost. And I just hope we can kind of
- 50:52keep some of it going because we're so up and down this
- 50:54season. We have a game and we look
- 50:56stunning and then the next game will look absolutely atrocious.
- 50:58But in honour of Wigan losing, Oh yeah, I thought we could
- 51:06maybe consider our our favourite pies.
- 51:10Oh, Oh well, a pie. So in honour of Castleford
- 51:16handing it to the the Pie Eaters, we're going to talk
- 51:19about the pies that we as cast fans like to eat.
- 51:26So how about top three pies? Top.
- 51:32Three pies is my list in your list is always saying my top
- 51:35three. Your top three coming in at #3
- 51:39I'm locking in a I'm locking a meat and tie.
- 51:45Just a meat and tie pie, right? That's what I'm locking in a
- 51:50meat and tie pie. You can't not, not.
- 51:54I don't, I don't know what the meat is.
- 51:56Just called meat and tie, right? We don't know what the meat is,
- 51:59no. One knows what the meat is.
- 52:01You buy it often. There's peas in that in there
- 52:05and it's grey. It don't look, it don't look
- 52:07healthy, but it tastes when when rugby league used to be a
- 52:12winner, a winner game and you go November, you'd be freezing.
- 52:15You get me and type by half time or sign me up.
- 52:18Bobby, you know what I mean. What you got here #3 What's your
- 52:21#3? I'm going a little bit
- 52:24unorthodox here and because I am, I'm super, super fussy with
- 52:27pies and I'm not going to get into it for this one.
- 52:30I think I'll just save it a little bit because it is
- 52:33important what type of pie we're talking here, but #3 for me it
- 52:39is just a classic pork pie. Oh, I didn't even say it's
- 52:45consideration. Yeah.
- 52:48Oh, no, you're still a spam. It works.
- 52:50I can't put a pot pie at #2 I don't think that was The thing
- 52:54is about pot pie. Thing is about pot pie for me is
- 52:59pot pie is only as good as the quality of brown sauce that you
- 53:01put on it. Agree.
- 53:03Do not disagree with that at all.
- 53:06So I feel a bit like cheeky putting that in there, you know,
- 53:11I mean, I, I agree Popeyes top five every day a week, right?
- 53:15You got to go to that brown sauce on.
- 53:18We need quite a bit of Popeyes at the moment because the place
- 53:20that we're trainers put some on for afterwards.
- 53:22It's fantastic. Nice.
- 53:23Fresh. Warm.
- 53:26That's a great shot. Is that right?
- 53:28Come in #2I #2 do you know what? Right.
- 53:36So when you talk about what kind of pie, a pie for me is proven
- 53:42in pastry. A pie for me, One of these ones
- 53:45that come in a bowl and it's got pastry on top.
- 53:48No, it's pastry all around the bedtime for that you pop up
- 53:51right now. Now.
- 53:54A bowl and a lid is not what is it?
- 53:56A lid in a bath or whatever they call it that is not a pie.
- 53:59He. Winds me up so much.
- 54:01When you go, go to a pub, right Go.
- 54:05You get it and he comes, you can't touch it.
- 54:08It's too warm. Pastry stuck right outside.
- 54:12Nah, come on, it's not on. It's not good, not good for me.
- 54:16Right clear #2 I'm going to unorthodox here because I think
- 54:19they're absolutely blind When you get him right, it's a
- 54:23chicken tikka pie. So there's a pie with chicken
- 54:27tikka in it. Oh oh God, honestly, you get it.
- 54:31And I and anyone else I say like like poker pie size that you get
- 54:34and the worm like oh so good, so good you.
- 54:38Know I'm not against that but and I'm going similar just not
- 54:42tikka. I'm going for a chicken and leek
- 54:44pie. A nice creamy chicken and leek.
- 54:48See, I'm not a fan of chicken, just normal chicken pies, if
- 54:54that makes sense. Like, love it.
- 54:56No, it's not for me. Like it's not for me #1 spot
- 55:01just has to be a steak and ale. It has to be a steak and ale
- 55:07pie, not a steak and kidney, because kidney beans should not
- 55:11belong in a pie. It's a steak and ale pie all day
- 55:14long. Probably Rick Tail in there.
- 55:16Oh. You know, I have these absolute
- 55:18fond memories though, right? So absolutely, number one, steak
- 55:22and ale pie, full shark crust pastry.
- 55:25Nice, you know, fully enclosed, no bath, no lid, just fully
- 55:29enclosed. But I've got these fond
- 55:31memories, so of New Zealand, right?
- 55:33This is back when I was sort of 18, went across to New Zealand
- 55:37or on the coast. And you know, like over here you
- 55:39sometimes get shops that have got like hot ovens where you can
- 55:42just take pastry out and stuff. They are and I don't know where
- 55:46they're from that they had. I can't remember what the brand
- 55:49was either, but just on a small pie about this big for those who
- 55:54are looking, you know, I don't know what size, like a decent
- 55:57size pie, pie size. And it was a triple steak and
- 56:01cheese and they just come out of this oven and it was like so
- 56:05packed with me. It was quite possibly the best
- 56:08pie I've ever eaten in my life, but I've just never been able to
- 56:11have one since. So I can't, can't rank it #1
- 56:15because I can't repeatedly get it.
- 56:16But if I could, that would be up there.
- 56:19But yeah, the steak and ale, number one, top three pies.
- 56:23Love it. Proper classic.
- 56:25I mean if we if you go to wig and you get a wig and kebab,
- 56:27it's just a part. It's just a pie in like 2 slices
- 56:30of bread already known a pair of bread.
- 56:32It's just a wig and kebab is what they call it.
- 56:34But it's but sign me up. I love the pie.
- 56:39Best time for the pie, by the way.
- 56:40Bonfire night. You go to go to Butty Van, you
- 56:44get a pie. You get some chips, gravy, mushy
- 56:46peas, loads of mint sauce, loads of Browns.
- 56:49Oh, sign me up. I love the while you've been
- 56:51talking about these pies, you've just gone like ultra Yorkshire.
- 56:56I'm sorry. I mean, you saw Tati.
- 56:58Pie. I'm saying you can't call it
- 57:00meat and potato candy. It's a meat and tati pie, right?
- 57:03It is and as well, this is probably the most in depth
- 57:07conversation we've had tonight on on the sports.
- 57:10All balls, no protopod about food.
- 57:15Does everything, doesn't. It exactly that, right?
- 57:18We're going to move swiftly to one of our favourite features.
- 57:24We're talking about all other balls, Brad.
- 57:28What is all the balls? So all of the balls is where we
- 57:33visit the world of sport outside of the NFL and of course rugby
- 57:38league and just touch on those sort of stories, those headlines
- 57:42that are creeping in from other areas of sport.
- 57:45And as it's sort of become quite common for us now, 2 sort of
- 57:50stories that we're going to look at today feature no balls.
- 57:55So first story, the Tour de France.
- 58:01The Tour de France today has announced that the 2027 men's
- 58:05race will start in Edinburgh. So it's coming back to the UK
- 58:11and starting in Edinburgh with stage 2 starting in Keswick and
- 58:15ending in Liverpool before stage 3 starting in Welshpool and
- 58:19finishing in Cardiff. So quite a nice little trek
- 58:22there and then I think following on from the success of the Tour
- 58:27de France a good few years ago when it featured good old
- 58:31Yorkshire, the women's races planned to start in Leeds before
- 58:36finishing stage one in Manchester and then stage 2
- 58:39being Manchester to Sheffield. Did you see any of the Tour de
- 58:43France when it came to Yorkshire?
- 58:45No, no, I honest to God, it baffles me.
- 58:50It's called Tour de France. I'm going to sound so ignorant
- 58:54and so naive about this. Why is it called as hard if I
- 58:57was going to do Yorkshire, There's a there's a there's a
- 59:00little yellow bike on a roof near my house, right.
- 59:03That will put there for when the why apologise if you're if
- 59:08you're if you're a cyclist listening to this why?
- 59:13The vast majority of the Tour is in France.
- 59:16They're just opening it up like start in different places now
- 59:19and then. And so it's probably just
- 59:22commercial market inside of stuff more than anything.
- 59:24But it was electric though, like where I used to work.
- 59:27I used to work sort of northwest Leeds, really avid sort of area
- 59:32for cycling and it went through there and they got absolutely
- 59:36mad for it. Like those yellow bikes were
- 59:38just everywhere, absolutely everywhere.
- 59:42It was, it was a great atmosphere.
- 59:44Like it was the, you know, genuinely buzzing research.
- 59:47Carl was 11 years old when he saw it.
- 59:54But yeah, no. So yeah, nice.
- 59:56It's coming back to UK big race obviously, probably the biggest
- 1:00:01race in in cycling. Humour me, humour me.
- 1:00:06It's going to start in Where do You Say star in Scotland?
- 1:00:08Yeah. Right, it's going down to
- 1:00:10Yorkshire, is it? Then send it down to to Dover
- 1:00:15and going across pond. As always I worked.
- 1:00:18No. So the men's isn't coming to
- 1:00:19Yorkshire, the men's going down the West.
- 1:00:22It's amazing all the way down. Or like you just go a few, a
- 1:00:25few, a few cities and then they go out to France.
- 1:00:29Haven't seen how far they cycle. The first stage is cycling from
- 1:00:33Edinburgh, sorry. Second stage cycling from
- 1:00:36Keswick in the Lakes down to Liverpool and then like it's
- 1:00:41just mad some of the distances they cycle is.
- 1:00:44Under that But where from Liverpool will they?
- 1:00:47Will they end up that bottom England and go across to France
- 1:00:50that way? They won't cycle the whole way,
- 1:00:53no. They'll stick the bikes on a
- 1:00:54trailer and then they'll jump over that way.
- 1:00:56What a con. What a con.
- 1:00:59Well does a Formula One race race from Australia to Aberdare
- 1:01:03but. I don't I don't start Bahrain in
- 1:01:06Chuffy and Silverstone, do I? You know what I mean?
- 1:01:09It's like Tony, you're the customer, Like they look right.
- 1:01:16He's he's great. Well done.
- 1:01:18I'm glad they're really fit and and doing what they need to do.
- 1:01:21He fixes pots on rolls. Happy days.
- 1:01:24Like crack on, we're doing it. OK, so moving on to our second
- 1:01:28story, which is much more realistic in its nature.
- 1:01:34This weekend saw the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania
- 1:01:39in the WWE. Come on Zach, give us your take
- 1:01:42on this. Right, I look, I am all for
- 1:01:45wrestling, right? Wrestling is fantastic.
- 1:01:48I feel like wrestling is open to the right right now.
- 1:01:51Like it took, it took a bit of a load in it after the ice shoot
- 1:01:54area and all that. So it took a bit of a dive.
- 1:01:56It kind of went flat. Then COVID happened and there
- 1:01:58were wrestling with no fans. It were rubbish and all that
- 1:02:00jazz. I'm not going to stand there and
- 1:02:01say that I'm a massive wrestling fan.
- 1:02:03I try to watch the bits when I can do, but it's I feel it's
- 1:02:07more getting into that that peak again.
- 1:02:11And I think I think it's because they're just turning it into
- 1:02:14more of a show and the kind of, you know, the attitude era, they
- 1:02:17really try to sell, you know, it's real, Whereas now they're
- 1:02:21kind of just thought like and letting the getting celebrities
- 1:02:25involved with it to kind of increase that.
- 1:02:27And talking celebrities. Mr Pat McAfee himself was
- 1:02:30involved with this was involved with a build up that bit of
- 1:02:33crossover in there. I believe we've got archaeo
- 1:02:36archaeode at some point throughout it, which which is
- 1:02:38pretty cool is I'm certainly socially still wearing a neck
- 1:02:41brace to kind of carry on that, that that that Rouge as to
- 1:02:45what's been going on. It's great to see.
- 1:02:46But one of the biggest talking points from WrestleMania was
- 1:02:50Brock Lesnar retiring or not unconfirmed yet, but he put his
- 1:02:57gloves in the middle of the ring.
- 1:02:59And I saw something on X about this where he he did like a
- 1:03:03cross sign with his arms to Paul Heyman, which is like a
- 1:03:09unwritten, yes, I'm going off script right now.
- 1:03:14And he puts his gloves in the middle of the ring.
- 1:03:17And there was a lot of controversy around Brock Lesnar,
- 1:03:19so I don't want to touch too much on him with his ongoing
- 1:03:25allegations and stuff behind closed doors.
- 1:03:26But there's no there's no doubt about what he's done for the
- 1:03:29sport in terms of, to the public's eye, like.
- 1:03:32He's probably one of the most famous sort of contact sports if
- 1:03:36you include WWE in that like household names really isn't he?
- 1:03:40Like outside of your big boxing names, if you like, like is one
- 1:03:44of the biggest names in wrestling.
- 1:03:45He's one of he was obviously had his success in the UFC and then
- 1:03:49came back and like the sort of what is done for the sport.
- 1:03:55You know, he's quite well known in the business for the term is
- 1:03:59like putting over over wrestlers, which is basically
- 1:04:02like giving the next generation or the next name like a Lego if
- 1:04:06you like. So God, I can't remember the
- 1:04:09guy's name that he wrestled this weekend is Oba Femi or
- 1:04:12something, isn't it? Like he's an absolute animal, an
- 1:04:16absolute beast. And he's kind of he's like the
- 1:04:20next Brock Lesnar. So when Brock Lesnar came onto
- 1:04:22the scene, he's just this huge beast who just tore people
- 1:04:26apart. And then Oba Femi, if I'm
- 1:04:29getting his name right, has just done the same thing to Brock
- 1:04:31Lesnar basically week after week after week leading up to
- 1:04:34WrestleMania. And then I've seen the footage
- 1:04:36you were talking about and he genuinely looks really
- 1:04:39emotional, doesn't he? So it's unless he's a great
- 1:04:43actor. But yeah, it's interesting.
- 1:04:46But we really haven't sort of said he's retired, have they?
- 1:04:49He's just no so. We'll see LBC but I see it was
- 1:04:54made over 2 days now which was news to me, I'm not going to
- 1:04:57lie. It's been a few years like that
- 1:04:59now. Yeah, be a big, big old show
- 1:05:01phrase. It's good to see.
- 1:05:03Like I think I think I would be more inclined to kind of watch
- 1:05:06more of them now just because the show is getting better and
- 1:05:09better before the it's supposed to go like COVID, the the rest
- 1:05:14of themselves are just too much, if that makes sense when it
- 1:05:16comes down to it sounds that I were an Attitude era boy and I
- 1:05:19loved it. I was all for that.
- 1:05:20I went to watch it. I loved it.
- 1:05:23But yeah, it's good to see. It's good to see you getting
- 1:05:25good traction as well for, for, for what it was.
- 1:05:28So yeah, big old. WE actually we have a 3rd all
- 1:05:33the balls by the way, and it's coming as we've been talking
- 1:05:36about this now, literally I've got the news article up that
- 1:05:40came on 2 minutes ago that Leicester City have been
- 1:05:44relegated from the Championship after drawing Tutu with whole
- 1:05:49city. This comes I think research
- 1:05:51college Botherson as well. This comes ten years after
- 1:05:53winning the Premier League on that that off the without
- 1:05:57nowhere win that they had. It's not great really, is it
- 1:06:02when you think about it? I feel for all the City fans.
- 1:06:04I feel like for the players, the families involved and things it
- 1:06:07backs about. Really.
- 1:06:08Yeah. But I think Black Blackpool City
- 1:06:10did something similar to this when they got promoted to the
- 1:06:11Premiership few year ago that I'm sure they did backs about
- 1:06:14relegations as well, which is a bit a bit.
- 1:06:19It's tough to see. But yeah, now breaking news
- 1:06:22there. Anyway, moving on.
- 1:06:24We're going to move on to our next next subject, next segment.
- 1:06:31And it's one, it's a returning 1.
- 1:06:34And it is all about wives words. So with wives words, you don't
- 1:06:41know what wives words is. Researcher Carl slides into our
- 1:06:44wives DMS, asks them a question about the world of American
- 1:06:49football and include his own wife, by the way.
- 1:06:53And I'd get that one in there, ask them a question, then just
- 1:06:56get that answer. Basically.
- 1:06:58Now this question is I just need to.
- 1:07:00Shine because I can just see the fear on research Cal's face that
- 1:07:04you've just married him off. Hey, yeah, yeah, so sorry.
- 1:07:11The question the question is to show is to show light and shine
- 1:07:15light on the fact that the NFL has some such weird terminology
- 1:07:18and ruling says that we're here to kind of help out and try and
- 1:07:21explain the best we can do. So moving into wives words for
- 1:07:24this week, Callum, let's have a look at what you asked our
- 1:07:29wives. What is Mr irrelevant Now this
- 1:07:34comes into a draft related. Let's see what we did there, a
- 1:07:38draft related term. So what's going to happen now is
- 1:07:42if you're not watching this on the video, feel free to head
- 1:07:46over to our YouTube, Spotify and watch the video so you can see
- 1:07:48the answers. I'm going to bump up a slide in
- 1:07:51a second that's got 3 answers on there between me and you, but we
- 1:07:54need to decide who was my wife, who was your wife, and who was
- 1:07:58Callum's future wife. OK, so who was Mr Irrelevant?
- 1:08:06Let's have a look at the answers, shall we?
- 1:08:10Culminate at #1 the player that no one wanted, or the OR the
- 1:08:14player that no one wants, or the one pick last answer #2 someone
- 1:08:20who doesn't really bring much to the team.
- 1:08:22Slash game #3 and nobody. Callum, can I just check, just
- 1:08:31put this in the chat and what was what, how did you preface
- 1:08:35this question? Did you explain that it was to
- 1:08:38do with the draft? Did you just ask the question?
- 1:08:40I just want, I need the fans to be able to get this sort of
- 1:08:44right if I can. But just while he's doing that,
- 1:08:48so the player that no one wants or the one that picked last, I
- 1:08:51mean, that's bang on the money, basically.
- 1:08:56So just if we're going out there and explaining to everybody, Mr
- 1:08:59Irrelevant is indeed it's the last person picked in the draft.
- 1:09:03So that's absolutely nailed on someone who doesn't really bring
- 1:09:08much to the team or game completely get the thought
- 1:09:13process or. Yeah, that to me screams like it
- 1:09:16does not been a draft asked in the question.
- 1:09:19Yeah. Does that make sense?
- 1:09:21So yeah, because he's been asked because he's not being much the
- 1:09:26gay. So I'm going to bring much the
- 1:09:27game or team. You're not going to be picked.
- 1:09:30Oh yeah, if you know what I mean.
- 1:09:32So this is how researcher Cal slid into the DMS. So quote.
- 1:09:37So I've got another wives words feature on the podcast.
- 1:09:40It's an NFL draft special this week where the best university
- 1:09:44players in America get St signed by the professional teams.
- 1:09:49Question for this week, what is Mr irrelevant?
- 1:09:51OK, I like that. Cal, you've, you've been very
- 1:09:54accurate and precise. And I spoke to mine before this
- 1:10:00and I didn't ask anything about. I did say.
- 1:10:02So did Callum get in touch, as have you gave your answer?
- 1:10:05And she went, yeah. And I think I've absolutely got
- 1:10:08it. And if I'm wrong, I'm desperate
- 1:10:10to know what it is. So I'm going to trust her.
- 1:10:12And I'm going to say that my wife has said the player that no
- 1:10:17one wants or the one that's picked last.
- 1:10:20OK, Yeah, I can go with that. I can go with that.
- 1:10:23I 1 screams out as mine and that's a nobody.
- 1:10:30Yeah, that's why I was asking because.
- 1:10:32Yeah, because I know she knows nothing regarding the draft and
- 1:10:37she'll just seem irrelevant and just put nobody a.
- 1:10:41Lot of thought went into that answer I think.
- 1:10:45Yeah, yeah. But I yeah, so I Right, so.
- 1:10:52And Carl, can you get these answers ready typed up to go so
- 1:10:55we we're. Quite no.
- 1:10:57Do you know what? I know what I'm going to.
- 1:10:58I'm going to flip it. I'm going to say yours was
- 1:11:01someone who doesn't bring much the team.
- 1:11:04Carl's was the one that picked last because I think Carl would
- 1:11:07have mentioned this with how staties at some.
- 1:11:11Point. That's a fairpoint and.
- 1:11:13Mine's a nobody, that's my locked in.
- 1:11:16OK. That's my locked in.
- 1:11:17Mine, a player that no one wants, are the one that picked
- 1:11:20last. I'm going cals for the one that
- 1:11:21doesn't really bring much to the team or game and I'm going yours
- 1:11:24for a nobody. What's the answers that's going
- 1:11:28to be? Nailed it.
- 1:11:30You nailed on that, nailed on that.
- 1:11:32Happy days, happy days. Well done there.
- 1:11:36That is wise words for this week returning feature.
- 1:11:40No doubt it should get into the NFL season.
- 1:11:42We would build up as well, but asking them more unique
- 1:11:45questions. Have you got a question that we
- 1:11:46can ask our wives? Drop it in the comments below
- 1:11:48and let us know. Right?
- 1:11:51We are going to move on now to another of our returning
- 1:11:56favourites. It's Carl's conundrum.
- 1:11:59So last week Carl asked you all a question for you to get
- 1:12:02involved with. He does this every week as well.
- 1:12:04And last week he asked who was the youngest player to ever play
- 1:12:07in the NFL, and that was a Jim Snyder, who was 16 years old in
- 1:12:121925. And he played for the Milwaukee
- 1:12:15Badges. If anybody got that right, I'll
- 1:12:19show my anyway. Right now that is some niche
- 1:12:25stats, some niche stats indeed. But thank you very much.
- 1:12:28If you did get involved and you did gain touch.
- 1:12:30I really appreciate you doing so.
- 1:12:31We're going to give you another question for next week that
- 1:12:35hopefully you can get involved with.
- 1:12:36If you do want to get involved, head over to our socials, ask AB
- 1:12:39and F pod, get involved, reply to the stories, head head into
- 1:12:42our comments and I'll come out on the video whenever you
- 1:12:45whenever you're watching or listening next week.
- 1:12:48Also, this week's Carl's Conundrum is who was the last
- 1:12:52running back to be selected first overall in the NFL Draft.
- 1:12:59Oh. Oh.
- 1:13:01Oh no, I might have this one. I might have this one.
- 1:13:09Is it? Is this recent recent Carl?
- 1:13:12Is it? I think this is within the last
- 1:13:15last seven years. No.
- 1:13:19No. 20. Last 20.
- 1:13:23Yeah, I could be completely wrong with this one.
- 1:13:25Actually, I thought I had it. I'm no doubting myself, but.
- 1:13:32OK, so who was the last running back to be selected first
- 1:13:34overall in the NFL draft? If you know, if you've got an
- 1:13:37idea, let us know in the comments below and let us know
- 1:13:40who you think should be chose first in the draft.
- 1:13:43I mean, not first go second. We all know it's game, Joe.
- 1:13:46Who's game drafted first? Who's game drafted second in the
- 1:13:48NFL draft coming up? Let us know.
- 1:13:51That's the show. We're done.
- 1:13:55Brad. Anything you'd like to say
- 1:13:57before we fly off? Most importantly, I'm interested
- 1:14:01in what your top three pies are. So you've got a lot to share
- 1:14:03with us. So draft thoughts, top three
- 1:14:06pies cows conundrum at ABNF pod, please.
- 1:14:11And don't forget to tell your friends hit subscribe all that
- 1:14:14alarkey. But now we will be back next
- 1:14:17week post draft where we will have a little bit more insight
- 1:14:21and sort of, well, a lot to talk about, I would assume.
- 1:14:26So looking forward to that already.
- 1:14:29Indeed, indeed we are right. Thank you very much, Brad.
- 1:14:32Thank you very much. Research, Carl, thank you very
- 1:14:33much. Listeners and watchers out there
- 1:14:35really appreciate you. Hit, subscribe, hit like, hit,
