- 1:05Speaker 2: whatever turmoil you're going through, sometimes even ourselves. So that's
- 1:09Speaker 2: all hopefully coming up today inside the Treehouse. But first
- 1:11Speaker 2: we need to do something that's going to make me
- 1:14Speaker 2: feel better semi selfishly, but I also need your input.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I think the best way I can put this is thus,
- 1:26Speaker 2: when you hear someone say something so unbelievably stupid or ignorant?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Do you butt into correct them? Or do you protect
- 1:35Speaker 2: your peace and walk away?
- 1:41Speaker 3: For me, it depends on whether or not it directly
- 1:43Speaker 3: affects me or any decisions it might be made on
- 1:48Speaker 3: maybe half or that might get in my way later. Otherwise,
- 1:53Speaker 3: let them wallow in it.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Just let them wall around and their stupidity like a
- 1:58Speaker 2: filthy pig. Yeah, I guess I used to be the
- 2:02Speaker 2: pushing the glasses up the bridge and nose guy, But
- 2:04Speaker 2: I'm I'm tired.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Brother.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I feel you on that, Terrey. What about you? When
- 2:11Speaker 2: you hear someone say something so unbelievably stupid or ignorant,
- 2:17Speaker 2: do you butt into correct them or do you protect
- 2:19Speaker 2: your piece and just walk away?
- 2:21Speaker 1: As I have gotten older, I try harder and harder
- 2:25Speaker 1: to bite my tongue and let it go so that
- 2:30Speaker 1: it comes down to the varying degrees of stupidity. But
- 2:34Speaker 1: at a certain point I can't help myself. I'm just
- 2:37Speaker 1: an asshole, and I sometimes just have to do it
- 2:42Speaker 1: less times.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Sometimes it's got to get out.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I get it well, and there's some things that are
- 2:47Speaker 1: just especially when it's things that become This would be
- 2:54Speaker 1: the perfect example for some reason, and someone started this
- 2:58Speaker 1: online on social media that said, hey, the world in
- 3:03Speaker 1: the World Cup, the USA could play England on July fourth,
- 3:07Speaker 1: wouldn't that be amazing? In no way, shape or form
- 3:12Speaker 1: was it ever possible for not only for the USA
- 3:16Speaker 1: to play England, much less they in no way we're
- 3:20Speaker 1: ever going to play on July fourth.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It's just pure social media misinformation.
- 3:25Speaker 1: You all you had to do was google World Cup bracket,
- 3:27Speaker 1: and you could see very easily that is not even possible.
- 3:32Speaker 1: But at a certain point, and you just especially if
- 3:35Speaker 1: you're working at a bar restaurant, and you just can't
- 3:38Speaker 1: at a certain point, I just couldn't help myself and go, hey,
- 3:40Speaker 1: you might want to google that. It's not possible. Oh no,
- 3:44Speaker 1: they said, all you have to do is Google get
- 3:47Speaker 1: go to the World Cup side.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Plenty of places, so easily easily easily verified.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I try really hard, but I just sometimes can't help myself.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Brother, I'm with you.
- 3:59Speaker 3: That a very diplomatic way of doing it, though, just yeah,
- 4:02Speaker 3: you just google it. So there was there was a
- 4:05Speaker 3: good World Cup exam.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Now I'm building to my example here, but there's another
- 4:10Speaker 2: World Cup example that I saw recently. It was a
- 4:12Speaker 2: couple of weeks ago where an image of a female
- 4:18Speaker 2: US soccer fan went viral because she's got like the
- 4:24Speaker 2: short brown hair, she's wearing a American flag bikini top,
- 4:28Speaker 2: she's in the stands of a US World Cup match,
- 4:33Speaker 2: she's got sunglasses on, and she's gorgeous, just drop dead gorgeous.
- 4:37Speaker 2: And of course the image goes viral because that's what
- 4:39Speaker 2: happens when you're hot chick, right and you're in the
- 4:42Speaker 2: stands at an international sporting event. The problem is that
- 4:46Speaker 2: image isn't real. It is AI. That woman is not real.
- 4:52Speaker 2: When I saw the image, I thought, hmm, she looks
- 4:57Speaker 2: a little too perfect. So I did just a quick
- 5:01Speaker 2: Google search and found out, yeah, it's an AI generated image.
- 5:05Speaker 2: But everyone is sharing it, passing it around, gone like, god,
- 5:08Speaker 2: we have the best looking fans in the world. Well,
- 5:12Speaker 2: if they're being spit out of a computer weird science style,
- 5:15Speaker 2: then yeah, but she's not real. I didn't say anything.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I just kind of let people have their fun. I
- 5:22Speaker 2: considered doing a post with the photo to capitalize on
- 5:25Speaker 2: the attention and be like at the bottom, hey guys,
- 5:29Speaker 2: she's not real, But then I didn't want to be
- 5:32Speaker 2: associated with, you know, bursting bubbles like that. So I
- 5:37Speaker 2: was like, you know what, I'm just gonna let I'm
- 5:38Speaker 2: just gonna let the people have their fun and enjoyment
- 5:40Speaker 2: and think she's real.
- 5:42Speaker 1: God. No, American women are gorgeous, but when it comes
- 5:45Speaker 1: to soccer fans, Colombia and Brazil will always take the cake.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and that was my first red flag. Had she'd
- 5:55Speaker 2: been wearing a Brazil bikini, I'd have been like, oh,
- 5:57Speaker 2: that's real. Yeah. So here's the incident that happened to
- 6:02Speaker 2: me recently. A couple of days ago at the gym,
- 6:05Speaker 2: there's a guy there seems to be a personal trainer,
- 6:08Speaker 2: and he is helping a kid with his workout. All
- 6:13Speaker 2: right in the middle of their workout stuff, the trainer
- 6:19Speaker 2: guy says to the kid, did you know there's a Supergirl?
- 6:26Speaker 2: And the kid just makes the face of like, well,
- 6:29Speaker 2: I guess no. He continues, Yeah, apparently Superman has a cousin.
- 6:35Speaker 2: They're just making up shit. Now, Superman's been around since
- 6:40Speaker 2: like the seventies, and I've never heard of Supergirl. I'm
- 6:47Speaker 2: going to reread this for effect. This is a direct
- 6:52Speaker 2: quote from a conversation I heard at the gym. From
- 6:55Speaker 2: personal trainer to client. Two young guys, did you know,
- 7:00Speaker 2: Oh there's a Supergirl. Yeah, apparently Superman has a cousin.
- 7:03Speaker 2: They just making up shit. Now, Superman been around since
- 7:05Speaker 2: like the seventies. I ain't never heard of Supergirl. I
- 7:10Speaker 2: was this close, man, I was this close to throwing dumbbells,
- 7:14Speaker 2: not at him or anything, but like just dropping him
- 7:16Speaker 2: for the attention, standing up and go like, all right, look,
- 7:20Speaker 2: because to me, that is something so unbelievably ignorant, and
- 7:26Speaker 2: you're spreading it to someone as if it's fact. It
- 7:29Speaker 2: makes me want to strangle you instead of doing my
- 7:33Speaker 2: next set, which part all of it, All of that
- 7:39Speaker 2: is wrong. O.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Wait, I don't even know the origin of Supergirl, so
- 7:44Speaker 1: I'll leave. But when he said they've been having since
- 7:48Speaker 1: the seventies, I'd been like, motherfucker.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Superman been around pre World War Two, buddy, Yeah, Superman
- 7:55Speaker 2: been around. And I looked it up to be sure,
- 7:56Speaker 2: because I thought incorrectly that Superman had been around since
- 8:00Speaker 2: like the forties.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I was wrong.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Nineteen thirty eight. It was nineteen thirty eight Action Comics
- 8:06Speaker 2: number one, Superman nineteen thirty eight. I looked up just
- 8:09Speaker 2: to be sure. I thought it was from the forties.
- 8:11Speaker 2: The first part of this story that is absolutely wrong
- 8:14Speaker 2: is that this guy thinks he knows something and he doesn't,
- 8:16Speaker 2: and now he's spreading the misinformation to somebody else because
- 8:18Speaker 2: he thinks he knows the thing and he doesn't. First
- 8:21Speaker 2: of all, he's wrong about Superman being around since like
- 8:26Speaker 2: the seventies. Obviously, Superman's been around much much longer than that,
- 8:32Speaker 2: and so has Supergirl. Yes, it is very well established
- 8:36Speaker 2: in comic book, movie, and television history that Superman has
- 8:43Speaker 2: a female cousin who also survived Krypton's demise, so much
- 8:49Speaker 2: so that there was a CW television show this century
- 8:53Speaker 2: called Supergirl. Somehow, this idiot never heard of it. Also,
- 8:58Speaker 2: there was.
- 8:58Speaker 1: A cvie huh it was the CW come on whatever.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Also in the eighties there was a Supergirl movie wasn't
- 9:08Speaker 2: any good, but it was there, starring Helen Slater, who
- 9:13Speaker 2: also went on to have a recurring role in the
- 9:15Speaker 2: Supergirl television show. Anyway, Supergirl's been around a long time,
- 9:20Speaker 2: and for research sake, I decided to see how long
- 9:24Speaker 2: exactly she'd been around, because I know she's been around
- 9:26Speaker 2: a lot longer than the eighties. She made her first
- 9:29Speaker 2: appearance in a comic book in the fifties. So here
- 9:31Speaker 2: you have this jackass telling kids like, oh, Superman's been
- 9:34Speaker 2: around since the seventies, and all of a sudden, he
- 9:36Speaker 2: just has a cousin. They're just making stuff up. Now, well,
- 9:40Speaker 2: technically you're right there are making stuff up, but they
- 9:43Speaker 2: made it up a really long time ago, you ass hat.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Okay, hang on one second, Dan, you are making this sound
- 9:51Speaker 1: like this guy is talking to a kid in a school.
- 9:54Speaker 1: You're at a gym, I mean, not exactly the bastion
- 9:58Speaker 1: of intelligen conversation.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Look, they're talking comic book movie stuff at the gym,
- 10:06Speaker 2: so I mean it's not like they're having geopolitical discussions
- 10:09Speaker 2: or debates here. So yeah, I mean, you can check
- 10:11Speaker 2: your brain at the door at the gym a little bit.
- 10:13Speaker 2: But I mean this is so blatantly wrong. As as
- 10:18Speaker 2: an older man, I was deeply hurt when he's like,
- 10:22Speaker 2: Superman's been around since the seventies, he doesn't have a
- 10:25Speaker 2: cousin all of a sudden.
- 10:28Speaker 1: You think that, all of a sudden, like unless the
- 10:32Speaker 1: guy was our age, like, I don't know that you
- 10:37Speaker 1: could expect anything but stuff they've read online.
- 10:41Speaker 2: So the age range I'm going on here was a
- 10:44Speaker 2: guy and he's probably around twenty twenty two somewhere in there,
- 10:48Speaker 2: so I think he plays college basketball based on the
- 10:50Speaker 2: shirt he was wearing, and he had like a broken
- 10:54Speaker 2: lower leg boot on. And the kid that he's training
- 10:57Speaker 2: is probably in middle school or something, maybe lower high school.
- 11:01Speaker 2: So that's the age range we're working with here, and
- 11:03Speaker 2: it hurt me deeply because somewhere a parent has failed
- 11:08Speaker 2: these two boys.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Yes, you needed to. You needed to correct that immediately.
- 11:13Speaker 3: I mean he's in his formative the younger kids, in
- 11:15Speaker 3: his formative years and needs to know these things.
- 11:17Speaker 2: And that was why I asked you guys at the beginning.
- 11:20Speaker 2: When you hear someone say something so unbelievably stupid or
- 11:23Speaker 2: in this place, just violently ignorant, do you button to
- 11:28Speaker 2: correct them or do you just be like, no, I'm
- 11:30Speaker 2: just gonna keep my mouth shut on this. I kept
- 11:32Speaker 2: my mouth shut, and I'm venting it onto you guys
- 11:36Speaker 2: now so I can feel better about it. And I
- 11:38Speaker 2: am genuinely struggling with should I've should I have correct
- 11:41Speaker 2: and been like, bro, hang on, I mean.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I think you two nerds are going a little far,
- 11:46Speaker 1: but just because this is comic book lore.
- 11:50Speaker 2: But it's so it's so easy to find out it
- 11:53Speaker 2: happens to be a comic thing. But it's so come on,
- 11:56Speaker 2: did you not.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Did you not see that story I sent you about
- 12:00Speaker 1: the Brown University professor.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Uh?
- 12:04Speaker 2: Was that about the one where his students are using AI?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Yeah, So the story goes, something happened at Brown a
- 12:13Speaker 1: couple of years ago where they went to a lot
- 12:15Speaker 1: of online classes. This guy you know doing online class
- 12:20Speaker 1: and their exams were online. In the midterm, I think
- 12:25Speaker 1: the class average was something like a ninety six and
- 12:28Speaker 1: there's eighty students. So he looks at this and he goes,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I believe he said the normal average for the midterm
- 12:37Speaker 1: was sixty five to eighty. He's like, huh. So he
- 12:41Speaker 1: starts feeding some of the questions into AI, and then
- 12:43Speaker 1: sure enough, a lot of the answers he got on
- 12:46Speaker 1: the exam were you know, matching what AI did. So
- 12:48Speaker 1: for the final he made it in person. He actually
- 12:54Speaker 1: had to come to class take the test. Okay, so
- 12:59Speaker 1: out of eighty, only fifty nine even showed up.
- 13:04Speaker 2: I didn't get the email, boss.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I think they all knew they were cooked. Out Of
- 13:10Speaker 1: those fifty nine, the average score was a forty six.
- 13:15Speaker 2: That is a precipitous drop.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Huh. So, yeah, you're now talking about a generation they don't.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Although yeah, I did see one story where libraries are
- 13:25Speaker 1: now you know, hip and in vogue. Again, I don't
- 13:27Speaker 1: know for what, because the damn sure not reading.
- 13:32Speaker 2: It's more for a hangout and vibe. Right.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Absolutely, I think because their lack of knowledge on a
- 13:42Speaker 1: lot of things. And I will refrain from getting political,
- 13:50Speaker 1: but the fact that we don't know the history of
- 13:52Speaker 1: communism and socialism anymore is stunning, or the difference between
- 13:57Speaker 1: the two, or the difference between the two their history thereof,
- 14:01Speaker 1: so they don't know that. The fact that they don't
- 14:04Speaker 1: know the history of Superman doesn't really shock me. Look,
- 14:09Speaker 1: I essially would there hadn't been a good Superman movie, and.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I mean since a long time. Christopher Reeve, Yeah.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Well, you know, Man of Steel was. I I will say,
- 14:20Speaker 1: I like Man of Steel.
- 14:21Speaker 2: It was Okay. It's a lot of a lot of
- 14:23Speaker 2: those to me, of just when I go back and
- 14:25Speaker 2: really think about it, they were okay, they all had
- 14:28Speaker 2: they've all had some really good elements but real quick,
- 14:31Speaker 2: if you want to be honest, the thought of Superman
- 14:35Speaker 2: and Man of Steel being able to kill General Zod,
- 14:38Speaker 2: an expert in warfare and hand to hand combat, gets
- 14:43Speaker 2: his neck broken by Superman, who doesn't even technically know
- 14:48Speaker 2: how to fight. He's just just crazy strong. Oh you're
- 14:50Speaker 2: trying to tell me Superman knows how to break General
- 14:53Speaker 2: Zod's neck. I don't buy that.
- 14:55Speaker 1: But what I'm far more convincing if he had a
- 14:58Speaker 1: little protective shell that he put himself in and zapped
- 15:01Speaker 1: everyone with. I remember what it was, but.
- 15:06Speaker 2: It was in the It was in the Fortress of Solitude,
- 15:08Speaker 2: and when it was Christopher Reeve, he reversed the whole
- 15:13Speaker 2: thing and made them normal on the outside. That was clever.
- 15:18Speaker 2: M hm. Anyway, that well, I don't want to get
- 15:20Speaker 2: lost in the minutia. Basically, that stuff's argued. That stuff's arguable.
- 15:24Speaker 2: The point is, do you say something when someone has
- 15:26Speaker 2: done or said something so unbelievably dumb or do you
- 15:29Speaker 2: just like, no, I can't on this one, So it
- 15:32Speaker 2: sounds like it just kind of depends on the situation.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I held my tongue on this one, but I was
- 15:37Speaker 2: I was. It was as close as I've ever been
- 15:40Speaker 2: to being like, all right, guys, you got to listen up.
- 15:41Speaker 2: This is so wrong. Let me help you out. Partly
- 15:44Speaker 2: because it is mostly innocuous. It's an easy thing. It's
- 15:48Speaker 2: not like it's anything controversial. It is just something simple
- 15:51Speaker 2: like Superman. But it was so stupid. It just seemed like, Okay,
- 15:55Speaker 2: I got to help these kids out.
- 15:57Speaker 3: People that are going to be in charge of our
- 15:59Speaker 3: of our well being here soon, and and I I
- 16:04Speaker 3: can't have doctors and health professionals that don't know the
- 16:07Speaker 3: origins of Superman.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Well, okay, Nerd, Now I'm over to Trey's side on
- 16:16Speaker 2: this one. I mean I would not have been able
- 16:18Speaker 2: to hold my tongue. I just I don't think this
- 16:20Speaker 2: guy was going to be a doctor.
- 16:22Speaker 1: What if they had said something about the MCU would
- 16:24Speaker 1: would that have have triggered you?
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yes, it would have definitely triggered Jerry because he's he's
- 16:29Speaker 2: he's definitely Marvel. I just don't like that. To me.
- 16:32Speaker 2: It's so it's it's it like I I it because
- 16:37Speaker 2: it's an age thing. It's absolutely an age thing because
- 16:39Speaker 2: of the Superman thing. It's like I remember seeing, like
- 16:41Speaker 2: watching the cartoon as a kid that was from like
- 16:43Speaker 2: the fifties. I wasn't watching it in the fifties, but
- 16:46Speaker 2: I remember seeing it. I knew that the first Batman
- 16:50Speaker 2: on television or film whatever was in black and white,
- 16:53Speaker 2: whose name was George Reeve. But anyway, so I knew
- 16:56Speaker 2: it was around. So that's why I bought it. I
- 16:58Speaker 2: was triggered, as the kids would say. But going back
- 17:02Speaker 2: to what you were saying, trade, It's like, I shouldn't
- 17:04Speaker 2: be surprised because you have kids these days using AI
- 17:07Speaker 2: to cheat on take homb tests at Brown University. I
- 17:10Speaker 2: did get the story. I pulled it up. When a
- 17:13Speaker 2: take hom midterm exam yielded unusual grades, a Brown University
- 17:17Speaker 2: economics professor suspected this class had used artificial intelligence to cheat.
- 17:21Speaker 2: He's now calling for corrective action. Okay, look, I get it.
- 17:26Speaker 2: It's wrong. The kids should not be using AI to
- 17:30Speaker 2: ace tests and midterms and things. But how different is
- 17:37Speaker 2: that compared to us in school using cliffs notes or
- 17:43Speaker 2: Barons notes stuff that we used to that way, we
- 17:46Speaker 2: didn't have to read the entire book. We would read
- 17:49Speaker 2: the cliffs Notes version, but.
- 17:50Speaker 1: You still had to read the evening. They're not reading
- 17:55Speaker 1: they're feeding answers into AI and then just copying and
- 17:59Speaker 1: pasting the answer.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Okay, I didn't think of it that way. I was
- 18:03Speaker 2: thinking more like you submitted question into Google's AI or
- 18:07Speaker 2: into chat GPT, it spits out the answer and then
- 18:10Speaker 2: you read that. But I guess you're right, they're just
- 18:12Speaker 2: gonna copy and paste it and then they're not reading anything.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I guess, well, if they're not reading anything, then yeah,
- 18:17Speaker 2: that's it. That makes it worse.
- 18:18Speaker 1: But all right, I mean, here's the cliff Notes. Wasn't
- 18:28Speaker 1: all it was cracked up to be. Yeah, sometimes it
- 18:30Speaker 1: was great. It gave you a nice summary of a book,
- 18:34Speaker 1: but you still had to you still had to read
- 18:38Speaker 1: the cliff Notes and a lot of times, let's say,
- 18:40Speaker 1: you know, if it was on literature or something, memorize
- 18:42Speaker 1: the characters and everything else and have some concept of
- 18:45Speaker 1: what the book was about. So yeah, you could write
- 18:47Speaker 1: about it and then another thing.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Then if you had a really good, dicky teacher like
- 18:53Speaker 2: I did, they knew to put in very specific questions
- 18:56Speaker 2: or the test that they knew was not in the
- 18:58Speaker 2: cliffs notes.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Well, but I mean, we didn't even have the luxury
- 19:02Speaker 1: of laptops or computers. You were still you had a
- 19:07Speaker 1: number two pencil and open up the little essay book
- 19:09Speaker 1: and write down. It's vastly different, clif. Yeah, was was
- 19:15Speaker 1: technically cheating, but you, like you, at least had to
- 19:19Speaker 1: put still had to put in some effort there.
- 19:22Speaker 2: It is, That's what it is. You're right. While we
- 19:25Speaker 2: were cutting corners, we still had to put some effort
- 19:28Speaker 2: into our cheating. That's the difference. When you're just copying
- 19:31Speaker 2: and pasting whatever chat GPT tells you to, there's no
- 19:35Speaker 2: effort there other than just the copying and the pasting.
- 19:38Speaker 2: So I get that. That makes sense.
- 19:39Speaker 1: You still had to bullshit your way through some of
- 19:41Speaker 1: the essay questions.
- 19:43Speaker 2: And honestly, when we cheated in those ways, at least
- 19:46Speaker 2: it's still resourceful. When you're just copying and pasting stuff,
- 19:50Speaker 2: there's nothing really resourceful about that. It's just copying and pasting.
- 19:53Speaker 2: And you're right, you don't learn anything. There's no effort there.
- 19:56Speaker 2: All right, Fine, you changed my mind. It's definitely not
- 19:59Speaker 2: the same. No, should I have said something to the
- 20:03Speaker 2: super idiot at the gym though? Or did I do
- 20:06Speaker 2: the right thing by just walking away?
- 20:10Speaker 3: Either answer is good, but I wouldn't have been able
- 20:12Speaker 3: to hold my tongue.
- 20:15Speaker 2: You'd given him a thorough tongue lashing.
- 20:20Speaker 3: And this is this, you know, this is you know
- 20:23Speaker 3: it's it's not reading at least read a comic book.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I know you were wise to bite your tongue.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I did hard. It drew blood.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I mean if it had been about the X Men,
- 20:41Speaker 1: then sure, yeah, then.
- 20:42Speaker 2: You will not besmirch Wolverine. Let's get Daniel Cook from
- 20:50Speaker 2: COOKDFW Roofing and Restoration into the Treehouse eight three three.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Cookdf W is the phone number to get your free
- 20:57Speaker 2: roof inspection and property review scheduled the website cookdfw dot com.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I'm going to say some scary words, Daniel, super l
- 21:08Speaker 2: Nino and the effect that is going to have on weather,
- 21:15Speaker 2: especially in the North Texas area.
- 21:19Speaker 4: You know you're right, and we just are officially in
- 21:23Speaker 4: going into the super al Nino. The reason why is
- 21:25Speaker 4: because it's warmer than a regular al Nino and it
- 21:29Speaker 4: does prelude that we will have a wetter, higher rain
- 21:35Speaker 4: percentage than.
- 21:36Speaker 1: A normal year or shall we say on al Nina.
- 21:40Speaker 4: So there are some differences, speculations. Nothing is set in stone.
- 21:45Speaker 4: This is not a guarantee that we're going to have
- 21:46Speaker 4: a deluge of water for the next year. I mean,
- 21:49Speaker 4: that's just not what it means. Scientific data says, hey,
- 21:53Speaker 4: we might have a wetter than normal, we could have
- 21:55Speaker 4: more storms. It could be just a lot of rain.
- 21:58Speaker 4: We all need to go out and build arcs. I
- 22:00Speaker 4: don't know, but I mean be prepared. The moral of
- 22:04Speaker 4: the story is every day you live in North Texas,
- 22:06Speaker 4: especially in North Texas, be prepared. Know how your home
- 22:09Speaker 4: is sitting, Know how your roof looks, know how your
- 22:12Speaker 4: windows are working. No if your doors have holes in them, no,
- 22:16Speaker 4: I mean, just know your home. You call us out,

- 23:09Speaker 2: Rebecca Black the other day. Daniel was on her roof
- 23:13Speaker 2: last week and he took a photo of the hole
- 23:15Speaker 2: in their roof that someone had sprayed some foam insulation into.
- 23:20Speaker 2: So it's like roof roofroof and then like the yellow
- 23:23Speaker 2: spray stuff. Nice, no judgment here, I get it. Look
- 23:29Speaker 2: my house because it got like the the corrugated steel
- 23:33Speaker 2: stuff on it because island limit. I got flex seal
- 23:37Speaker 2: in spots in mine. So no judgment here. But when
- 23:40Speaker 2: the league happens at your house, you need to call

- 23:57Speaker 1: Yes, ray Oh, I was just about to say, you know,
- 24:00Speaker 1: you don't have the luxury of calling Daniel and Carry
- 24:03Speaker 1: you live a couple thousand miles away.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I do, and I keep telling them, would you please
- 24:08Speaker 2: open up a branch here so I have some service.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I'm this close to too. I think I took this
- 24:14Speaker 2: close to convincing them. I'm right there. If we had
- 24:17Speaker 2: an all inclusive I think they'd do it all right.
- 24:22Speaker 2: So once again, for any and all roof construction, remodeling
- 24:26Speaker 2: restoration needs, you call our folks, Daniel and Kerry Cook

- 24:33Speaker 2: It is Thursday, July sixteenth, twenty twenty six. Let's celebrate
- 24:41Speaker 2: today with some birthdays. Ooh, this is a good one.
- 24:46Speaker 2: This one's so good. I'm going to tease this birthday.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Yesterday we celebrated Forrest Whitaker's sixty fifth birthday, who early
- 24:57Speaker 2: on in his film career starred in Fast Times at
- 25:01Speaker 2: Ridgemont High. He was Charles Jefferson, one of the football players.
- 25:05Speaker 2: That's right, there is another Fast Times at Ridgemont High
- 25:09Speaker 2: birthday that we will get too shortly. First up, though,
- 25:14Speaker 2: one of Trey's favorite and least favorite actors all in one,
- 25:20Speaker 2: Will Ferrell, is fifty nine today. I'm going to read
- 25:24Speaker 2: off some of Will Ferrell's biggest movies and Trey, you
- 25:29Speaker 2: are well on record as having said sometimes you love
- 25:33Speaker 2: Will Ferrell and sometimes you hate him. So let's go
- 25:37Speaker 2: through some of these and you tell me if if
- 25:39Speaker 2: you're if you loved him or hated him in these movies. Okay,
- 25:44Speaker 2: Anchorman first one, Mid, Okay, the film overall.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Not my favorite.
- 25:57Speaker 2: I love that movie. I love Anger Man. I love
- 26:01Speaker 2: I love when they when all the other stations get
- 26:03Speaker 2: together and they do the fight to the death. I
- 26:09Speaker 2: also love Paul Rudd in that it works ninety percent
- 26:13Speaker 2: of the time. It works every time with the sex panther. Uh,
- 26:18Speaker 2: it's so good. That movie is so good.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Overall, That's one of those movies. Overall, I thought it
- 26:24Speaker 1: was stupid, but there are some some great parts.
- 26:29Speaker 2: F you San Diego anyway. Okay, So Anchorman to you, Mid,
- 26:36Speaker 2: Will Ferrell, Elf hate Talladega, Knights love. See. He's very
- 26:46Speaker 2: balanced on this. This is a deeper pull because he
- 26:51Speaker 2: didn't have a huge role, but he was in it.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Austin powers good.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I mean, my my biggest deal with Will Ferrell is
- 27:04Speaker 1: when he is part of a great cast or with
- 27:09Speaker 1: John c Riley.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's his name.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah, fantastic.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Step brothers with John c Riley. Great and one of
- 27:22Speaker 2: my most recent favorites of Will Ferrell. I don't know
- 27:25Speaker 2: if you saw this. I did, and it was kind
- 27:28Speaker 2: of personal to me because I have shipping challenges in
- 27:31Speaker 2: the Virgin Islands. What did you think of Will Ferrell
- 27:35Speaker 2: as horror moves Jeff skit on Saturday Night Live.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Didn't see it.
- 27:41Speaker 2: It's he's just an international shipper, who's just He's wearing
- 27:45Speaker 2: like a vest and he's like, I'll get whatever you
- 27:47Speaker 2: want in and out, in and out of the straight
- 27:49Speaker 2: of horror Moves. I don't care if I die. It
- 27:53Speaker 2: was a funny skit. I loved it, and because I
- 27:55Speaker 2: have shipping challenges, I was like, man, if horror moves
- 27:57Speaker 2: Jeff would set up shop in the Virgin Islands between
- 27:59Speaker 2: Floor and the Islands. Man, I'd use him.
- 28:02Speaker 1: My two favorite Will Ferrell movies Old School, how would they?
- 28:07Speaker 3: Yes?
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah? Old School was also a great one. Thank you
- 28:10Speaker 2: all right. Corey Feldman is fifty five today, Oh God
- 28:15Speaker 2: righting The make Me feel Old Bucket, one of the
- 28:20Speaker 2: iconic child stars of the eighties, starring in films like
- 28:24Speaker 2: The Lost Boys, stand By Me, the Goonies and some
- 28:32Speaker 2: other stuff. Opposite of Corey Ham the Tries. Yeah, Licensed
- 28:40Speaker 2: to Drive, Licensed to Drive.
- 28:42Speaker 1: That was I think peak of the Corries. And then
- 28:50Speaker 1: do you blame Michael Jackson. I don't know what you
- 28:52Speaker 1: blame Feldman on, but there's just a precipitous decline. Early
- 28:58Speaker 1: is where he is now.
- 29:02Speaker 2: I will say this, this is a movie I love
- 29:05Speaker 2: to bring up whenever I get the opportunity, and I'm
- 29:07Speaker 2: going to do it again now because it's celebrating Corey
- 29:10Speaker 2: Feldman's birthday. Arguably one of the best Corey's films is
- 29:17Speaker 2: not Licensed to Drive or any of the others that
- 29:19Speaker 2: were basically the same movies, is starring the two Corey's
- 29:22Speaker 2: Corey Ham and Corey Feldman. But the one you may
- 29:25Speaker 2: not have seen, and that's the film that also starred
- 29:30Speaker 2: Nicole Egert in a film called Blown Away, and there
- 29:36Speaker 2: was a very steamy shower sex scene between Nicole Egert
- 29:41Speaker 2: and Corey Ham. Thankfully, I don't think I could have
- 29:44Speaker 2: enjoyed it the same way had it been Corey Feldman.
- 29:46Speaker 2: I just I just don't sorry. Also, one of my
- 29:51Speaker 2: favorite Corey Feldman roles, So you were spanking it to Feldman, No,
- 29:57Speaker 2: no Ham with Nicole Eggert Trey come on state to speak,
- 30:04Speaker 2: but in addition to celebrating an additional role to celebrate
- 30:10Speaker 2: Corey Feldman's fifty fifth birthday. One of my favorite roles
- 30:13Speaker 2: of his and one of my favorite movies I think
- 30:16Speaker 2: of all time. I'm just now realizing this as I
- 30:18Speaker 2: think of it, The Burbs Tom Hanks. Corey Feldman is
- 30:25Speaker 2: in it as one of the neighbor kids. He's the
- 30:27Speaker 2: one that invites all his friends over to watch the
- 30:31Speaker 2: spectacle of Tom Hanks and his two neighbors try to
- 30:35Speaker 2: find the dead bodies in the basement of the Clopex house.
- 30:40Speaker 2: I totally forgot about that and he and I believe
- 30:43Speaker 2: he was the one that coined the phrase in the
- 30:45Speaker 2: movie The Burbs, the pizza dude, because I don't remember
- 30:50Speaker 2: pizza dude being a thing until that movie, and Corey
- 30:53Speaker 2: Feldman said it. He's like, pizza dude is here. Then
- 30:57Speaker 2: I think he used it again in Ninja Turtles.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I don't I don't remember pizza dude ever being a thing.
- 31:03Speaker 2: So I'm i'm I feel I feel sorry for you Tree.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Okay, go back and rewatch the bird you spanked at
- 31:12Speaker 1: the Corey Feldon, so that you know that's.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Hame Hame, Trey Hame, not Feldman.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I thought you said, I thought you said that's you
- 31:21Speaker 1: couldn't have enjoyed it if ham was in the movie
- 31:24Speaker 1: it was had you know the fact it was Feldman
- 31:26Speaker 1: and the cole that Eggert.
- 31:27Speaker 2: No, it was the opposite. I said, I couldn't have
- 31:29Speaker 2: enjoyed that scene had it been Feldman.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Oh, okay, my bad, Jerry, you.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Caught that I did. Yeah. Barry Sanders is fifty eight.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Yikes.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I also would have enjoyed seeing him with Nicole Eggert
- 31:51Speaker 2: in the shower. Michael Flatley is sixty eight.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I don't do Barry Sanders is one of the people.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I don't think younger generations realize how great he was.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I'm not even sure we got to see. I mean
- 32:09Speaker 1: the fact that he just stuck with Detroit for all
- 32:12Speaker 1: those years.
- 32:14Speaker 2: And then just retired.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Yeah, then if I got tired of losing and just screw.
- 32:18Speaker 2: It, I'm gonna die up here, and I don't want
- 32:21Speaker 2: to die in Detroit. I went to college in Oklahoma,
- 32:25Speaker 2: So I don't blame him. For retiring. I think he
- 32:27Speaker 2: retired it like after eight seasons or something.
- 32:29Speaker 1: He could, Yeah, I mean it was.
- 32:34Speaker 2: And then finally the final birthday I want to mention
- 32:37Speaker 2: today also one of the stars of Fast Times at
- 32:39Speaker 2: Ridgemont High and no coincidence. I also wouldn't have mind
- 32:42Speaker 2: seeing this person in there shower with Nicole Eggert. Phoebe
- 32:47Speaker 2: Kates is sixty three today. Oh Phoebe Kates.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Hmm, that's one of the all time great scenes.
- 32:59Speaker 2: M hm.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Judge ryandholds their standing just looking out at the pool,
- 33:06Speaker 3: just dissociates that.
- 33:11Speaker 2: That was. That was one of the moments in the
- 33:14Speaker 2: film where we all felt like Judge.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Reinhold, do you feel restless and anxious, feel like something's
- 33:27Speaker 1: missing in your life? Maybe you just need a little

- 34:15Speaker 2: Back Inside the Treehouse, Dan, Trey and Jerry the last
- 34:18Speaker 2: free show of the week, and I got to make
- 34:21Speaker 2: sure I jam in two of the shows or two
- 34:24Speaker 2: of the stories that were in the forefront of my
- 34:27Speaker 2: mind this week, and that is number one. A woman
- 34:33Speaker 2: went on a biting rampage at a Portland bar. Trey,
- 34:40Speaker 2: You and I have spent a lot of time in bars, Jerry,
- 34:43Speaker 2: I know you are no stranger to a good pool
- 34:45Speaker 2: haul as well. Have you ever seen someone go on
- 34:51Speaker 2: a biding rampage at any of the establishments you have frequented? Yeah?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Have any of you bit somebody? Have any of you
- 35:02Speaker 2: done a biting ram page and not to your knowledge?
- 35:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I think one time I kicked out a woman
- 35:12Speaker 1: who was on a makeout spree and then she bit
- 35:20Speaker 1: Someoneth's lip. But oh other than that, No, no, no
- 35:27Speaker 1: real biting spreeze, gotcha.
- 35:30Speaker 2: So yeah, a woman in Portland went on a biting
- 35:33Speaker 2: ram page at a bar that apparently has had some
- 35:35Speaker 2: other issues recently. Less than three months after a shooting
- 35:39Speaker 2: injured three women and six months after a stabbing, prosecutors
- 35:46Speaker 2: have filed charges for another violent episode at the same bar,
- 35:50Speaker 2: this time a woman accused of biting another woman's face
- 35:54Speaker 2: and then punching and biting a security guard. Cayla Marie Weeby,
- 35:59Speaker 2: thirty one, faces charges of fourth degree assault, second degree
- 36:03Speaker 2: disorderly conduct, harassment, and third degree criminal mischief for the
- 36:06Speaker 2: incident that happened at the River Pig Saloon.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 36:11Speaker 2: That's good. That's good name for a bar. Mm hmm.
- 36:14Speaker 1: There's a There was a River Pig Saloon in Dallas.
- 36:17Speaker 1: I don't know if it's still open or not, but.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I believe you're right. The Pearl District bar and nightclub
- 36:26Speaker 2: has been the sight of two other violent incidents this year,
- 36:29Speaker 2: the shooting and the stabbing that I mentioned. So it's
- 36:31Speaker 2: a hell of a streak. Yeah, and you're only like
- 36:33Speaker 2: halfway through the year. Halfway through the year at one bar,
- 36:37Speaker 2: you have had a shooting, a stabbing, and a biting,
- 36:41Speaker 2: that is.
- 36:41Speaker 1: In Texas, that would that would precipitate a visit from
- 36:45Speaker 1: the TABC and some investigation as to you're you're pouring
- 36:50Speaker 1: and safety practices.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Also, I'd like to point out that our old home
- 36:57Speaker 2: bar of Quinland's at Trinity Mills and Mars, I'm pretty
- 37:00Speaker 2: sure there were times that Quenland's that had all three
- 37:03Speaker 2: in the same night. And I'm saying that I did
- 37:09Speaker 2: any of those, but I'm not saying I may.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Most bars try to keep this stuff quiet, right and
- 37:17Speaker 1: not have authorities involved.
- 37:19Speaker 2: That's right. I also think that's that this bar needs
- 37:24Speaker 2: to have one of those signs up that says it's
- 37:27Speaker 2: been so many days since our last violent incident.
- 37:33Speaker 1: In so many ways, local authorities had to be called.
- 37:37Speaker 2: We got to erase this. We're back to zero thanks
- 37:40Speaker 2: to Klas. You went on a biting rampage the other day, which,
- 37:44Speaker 2: real quick, this is actually not the worst thing I
- 37:47Speaker 2: have heard happening at a bar. A biding rampage. It's
- 37:49Speaker 2: not fun. I'm sure being stabbed at the bar certainly
- 37:53Speaker 2: not being shot at the bar obviously not good. The
- 37:56Speaker 2: worst bar violent story I have heard to date in
- 37:59Speaker 2: my life happened, I believe in Oklahoma, at a bar
- 38:03Speaker 2: in Oklahoma.
- 38:04Speaker 1: We're in the same I mean, it's the same one
- 38:05Speaker 1: I'm thinking of.
- 38:07Speaker 2: It'd better be, because I hope there's not two of these,
- 38:10Speaker 2: ironically enough, so at an Oklahoma bar, I believe at
- 38:14Speaker 2: an Oklahoma bar, an ou fan and a UT fan
- 38:19Speaker 2: got into a heated argument and then through hands and
- 38:25Speaker 2: eventually the ou fan tore the testicles off of the
- 38:29Speaker 2: Longhorn fan.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I remember that is the exact same story I was
- 38:33Speaker 1: thinking of.
- 38:35Speaker 2: I want to say that was the early two thousands
- 38:38Speaker 2: when that story happened, like five oh six, so seven,
- 38:41Speaker 2: somewhere in that range. Because I look, I have read
- 38:45Speaker 2: a lot of stories in my career. I not just
- 38:50Speaker 2: read personally, but like shared them on the radio and things,
- 38:53Speaker 2: and so many that I have forgotten, not this one.
- 39:00Speaker 2: When you read a story, yeah, when you read a
- 39:03Speaker 2: story about a Sooner fan ripping the balls off of
- 39:06Speaker 2: a Longhorn fan, it stays with you.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Ironically, I want to say that it was only one testicle, but.
- 39:13Speaker 3: It yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, Jerry, exactly how do you
- 39:23Speaker 3: even get to that point?
- 39:24Speaker 1: You know?
- 39:29Speaker 2: All right, So that's the worst thing you're going to
- 39:31Speaker 2: hear about today, depending on who you are, this is
- 39:39Speaker 2: this next story is a cautionary tale. Okay, this is
- 39:43Speaker 2: another one of those stories. I'm always going to remember.
- 39:49Speaker 2: A flight instructor jumped to his death mid flight, leading
- 39:52Speaker 2: the student pilot to have to land on her own.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Wow.
- 40:00Speaker 5: Wow, I know this should be sad, this guy killed himself,
- 40:05Speaker 5: but I can't help it. This all I could think
- 40:08Speaker 5: of just you're sitting there, You're a student, You're like,
- 40:12Speaker 5: I'm flying.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Where are you going?
- 40:17Speaker 2: Are You're a flight instructor.
- 40:18Speaker 3: You're just trying to teach this person how to do this,
- 40:21Speaker 3: and they will just not shut up.
- 40:25Speaker 5: It's just so terrible, but I can't help it.
- 40:29Speaker 1: It's one thing. Yeah, there was a story years ago.
- 40:33Speaker 1: It happened in California where somebody basically stole a plane
- 40:39Speaker 1: and just went went on a flying spree. It was
- 40:43Speaker 1: talking here, knew he was going to kill himself, you know,
- 40:46Speaker 1: and then finally just drove the plane straight straight I
- 40:50Speaker 1: think it was into the water. So that's one thing.
- 40:53Speaker 1: If you're gonna kill yourself, you take yourself out on
- 40:55Speaker 1: your own.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Yeah, solo, Okay, good clean Yeah.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but what a dick move? Like did you just
- 41:07Speaker 1: hate the student?
- 41:09Speaker 2: We'll never know? Just had enough? Yeah. A flight instructor
- 41:15Speaker 2: and orangent, a flight instructor in Argentina, jumped to his
- 41:19Speaker 2: death in the middle of a training flight, abandoning his
- 41:22Speaker 2: student mid air and forcing them to bring the plane
- 41:25Speaker 2: down for a landing all by themselves. His name was
- 41:30Speaker 2: Leandro Andres Pertazzo. He was flying the plane Saturday, teaching
- 41:34Speaker 2: a twenty two year old student named Rosario when he
- 41:37Speaker 2: turned to her and said, you know what you have
- 41:40Speaker 2: to do?
- 41:40Speaker 3: Carry on, man, that's like throwing you in the deep
- 41:44Speaker 3: end to teach you how to swim.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I mean well? Or or was she that bad? I
- 41:48Speaker 1: mean I've ridden with some women driving. Brandy was one
- 41:53Speaker 1: of them that you know, they're such bad drivers. You
- 41:55Speaker 1: think about it, it's like, hey, at least I can
- 41:57Speaker 1: control control it and just you make sure it's a good, clean,
- 42:01Speaker 1: easy death. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not gonna lip away from
- 42:07Speaker 1: this son of a bitch.
- 42:11Speaker 2: He turned to her and said, you know what you
- 42:13Speaker 2: have to do, carry on. He then took off his headset,
- 42:17Speaker 2: unbuckled the seat belt, opened the door, and jumped his death.
- 42:23Speaker 1: I'm sorry. You know what, No, I don't.
- 42:32Speaker 2: I'm Johnny Knoxville hookome to Jackass. Oh god. Uh. Luckily
- 42:42Speaker 2: he seemed to have been. On one hand, he is
- 42:45Speaker 2: a horrible, horrible flight instructor. On the other hand, I
- 42:48Speaker 2: guess he was pretty good because she was able to
- 42:51Speaker 2: land the plane safely. There you go. Yeah, despite being
- 42:57Speaker 2: an absolute shock.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's just you're right. I mean, she's sitting there,
- 43:06Speaker 1: she's flying, she's learning, and then it's.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Just very casual, cool take off, the headset, unbuckle, the
- 43:15Speaker 2: seat belt, opening the door via coos out of the airplane.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Now what look? Because stories like this often have layers
- 43:24Speaker 2: to them, right, So an additional layer to this story
- 43:27Speaker 2: was before his final flight, he had actually gone on
- 43:31Speaker 2: a previous training flight that day with another student. I
- 43:36Speaker 2: guess he just wasn't feeling it on that one, but
- 43:38Speaker 2: the next one not so much.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Had he been dating the student.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Don't know. According to the director of the flight school,
- 43:46Speaker 2: there were no signs of anything with him being troubled
- 43:50Speaker 2: or having any intentions of killing himself. He had gone
- 43:53Speaker 2: on a flight with another student earlier in the day,
- 43:56Speaker 2: obviously without incident, and then the authority said, it's not
- 43:59Speaker 2: yet known what caused him to jump out of the
- 44:03Speaker 2: plane mid flight and kill himself.
- 44:07Speaker 1: He asked her what she wanted for dinner.
- 44:16Speaker 2: What do you want? It's all it takes immediate understanding.
- 44:24Speaker 2: We get it broke. Yeah, but real quick. This is
- 44:29Speaker 2: one of those stories that if I was to ever
- 44:31Speaker 2: take flying lessons, I am going to have a parachute
- 44:35Speaker 2: with me just in case. Because of this story. I've
- 44:37Speaker 2: heard of stories where people get pushed onto subway tracks.
- 44:40Speaker 2: So when I was near the subway recently, I make
- 44:42Speaker 2: sure I'm aware of my surroundings, no one's behind me,
- 44:45Speaker 2: or I'm up against a poll because of things like that,
- 44:47Speaker 2: If I am ever on a training flight, I am
- 44:50Speaker 2: going to have a parachute on me, just in case
- 44:53Speaker 2: I get the same type of dick trainer that just
- 44:56Speaker 2: wants to jump out mid flight. Lesson learned.
- 45:04Speaker 3: That would have been a great addendum to the story too.
- 45:06Speaker 3: It's like not without me mother.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Oh imagine imagine his surprise had she jumped out with him.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Hey, hey, Dan, just just so you know that, I
- 45:19Speaker 1: just added something else to do with you once you
- 45:22Speaker 1: have your stroke and I'm in control.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Uh huh, you wouldn't dare.
- 45:32Speaker 1: I'm just gonna make you wonder. Is Trey having a
- 45:35Speaker 1: bad day or did he take flying lessons.
- 45:41Speaker 2: You have whole? Oh man, I can't believe I'm gonna
- 45:48Speaker 2: have to get a restraining order. He gets one of
- 45:50Speaker 2: my best friends.
- 45:53Speaker 1: They'll they'll have to find you in order to eat,
- 45:55Speaker 1: to follow a restraining order.
- 45:57Speaker 2: God damn, that's a that's a really good point, all right.
