Speaker A: Hell, yeah. How's it going, guys?
• 0:04
Speaker B: It's going good, dude.
• 0:08
Speaker A: What'd you get up to this week? Always got something good.
• 0:17
Speaker B: Fuck. What did we talk about last time? Like, what did I do? Because last time I had some good shit.
• 0:23
Speaker A: Yeah, last time it was. We were talking about that Knowledge Project episode, which I don't know if that's, like, the best definition of it, because that kind of just sounds like we podcasted about a podcast. But we were. We were talking about, like, I would probably define it as, like, self starting and making new habits.
• 0:45
Speaker B: Well, I mean, I was more or less referring to, like, what the fuck did I do in life? Yes. Like,
• 0:54
Speaker A: oh, I thought you were. You know what? Hey, let's start over, idiot.
• 1:01
  Speaker B: Oh, there's.
• 1:03
Speaker A: Can we. Can we legitimately start over? I feel really stupid.
• 1:08
Speaker B: All right, but hold on, man. Legitimately, what did I do last week, bro?
• 1:17
Speaker A: There was the wedding.
• 1:21
Speaker B: Yeah, that was last weekend, right? Not last weekend, but the one before. Let's see.
• 1:27
  Speaker A: Don't know.
• 1:30
Speaker B: Oh, okay. All right, I'm ready. I. I know what I did the week. For the week one.
• 1:38
Speaker A: Oh, no, no, no.
• 1:39
  Speaker B: We're.
• 1:39
  Speaker A: We're good. We're. We're still synced up.
• 1:41
Speaker B: Oh, okay. So. All right, let's do a fresh cut. And three, two. Hey, what's up, man?
• 1:53
Speaker A: I'm gonna keep it all now. It ended up being funny.
• 1:57
Speaker B: What's going on, man? Okay, so not much. Not much has been new. Last week, number one came out. Last weekend, on Friday, number one came out.
• 2:08
Speaker A: Friend of the show.
• 2:10
Speaker B: You know what I'm saying? Her and her little girlfriend want to do a podcast, you know, following old pop's footsteps.
• 2:20
Speaker A: She kind of already did that stuff, right?
• 2:23
Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. So she came out and we. We did. We went and karaoke. We played board games.
• 2:32
Speaker A: Hold on. Did you sing I've Got Friends in Low Places? Mm. Hell yeah. My 21st birthday, sushi restaurant with a karaoke machine. You belt it out. I've got friends in low places.
• 2:49
Speaker B: We did Sweet Caroline. So what we did was we rented a private room and just did it that way, yo.
• 2:58
Speaker A: Yeah, that's the way to do it.
• 2:59
  Speaker B: Not really, bro.
• 3:01
Speaker A: Okay, so you're. You're more extroverted than I am. I was on a cruise ship one time, and the way they do karaoke on the cruise is you're in, like, the theater where, like, the comedy show happens or something, and everyone's just sitting around in seats, watching, waiting for their turn, and then just terrible singer after terrible singer gets up on Stage.
• 3:24
Speaker B: Oh, I'm sure you guys had liquor and dancing, right?
• 3:28
Speaker A: I was too young to drink, as were a lot of the people in that room. I think that was kind of like something the young people were trying to do to keep themselves busy.
• 3:39
Speaker B: What you don't realize is how important your KJ is. Kj, Karaoke jockey, man. He adjusts the sound like, the issue was, like, one mic was, like, way up with a lot of reverb. The. The other mic was way low. In fact, like, I held my arm straight to hit, like, the high notes, and it was still so loud.
• 4:04
  Speaker A: So.
• 4:07
Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know. It was. It was. It was fun. I had fun. But I realized after that that, like, a KJ has his place, you know, and then we did Game Nine stuff, but. So, funny story, Stretch marks. His girlfriend, She's. She's. She's a pretty girl.
• 4:29
Speaker A: Why are you saying it like that?
• 4:32
Speaker B: Because I don't think. Because Lonnie listens.
• 4:35
  Speaker A: Because I don't think she's a pretty girl.
• 4:39
Speaker B: Well, I think she's. I definitely think she's a. She's a. She's an attractive young woman, but I'm not attracted to her. Like, she's not my.
• 4:49
Speaker A: With a capital. Yeah, young with a capital.
• 4:54
Speaker B: But I'm not a. Like, she's not my. She's not for me. Like, she's like my height, for one, and, you know, pretty tall for a chick. I know, but he's pretty tall. He's like 6, 6, 2 or something like that. So they. They look good together. Like, she. She is a pretty girl. She's just not my cup of tea.
• 5:19
  Speaker A: Okay?
• 5:20
Speaker B: And so. But there's like. Like, she. She seems to have, like, an attraction to me. And I don't know, but it started, like, on, like, the first time I met her, you know, I was just in pajamas, you know, and I was talking my shit, you know, joking around and stuff, and they were all going on, like, a triple date. And so she's like, hey, like, do you want to join us for ice cream? And I'm like, nah, man, I'm not gonna be the seventh wheel. Like, what the fuck? I'm like, my girlfriend's out of town. I'm good. So she's like, okay. They leave, fast forward. I see her again, and it was like. I don't know. I think it was like 4th July or something like that. And he comes to work the next day. He's like, yeah. So, like, we leave first, the night of the ice cream invite, next day at work, he's like, dude, like, she just kept talking about how funny you were and, you know, all this. I'm like, oh, that's cool. You know, whatever. Fast forward.
• 6:31
Speaker A: Your dad have a shaved head?
• 6:33
Speaker B: I don't know. He's definitely blue collar, so that, like, is attractive to her.
• 6:42
Speaker A: Now tell me about these pajamas you were wearing.
• 6:45
Speaker B: Dude. They were like, my pajamas are like a T shirt.
• 6:50
  Speaker A: Just a T shirt?
• 6:52
Speaker B: Mm, no, I wear, like. I wear a T shirt and shorts, but I do have pajamas. But that day, I was wearing T shirt and shorts. So fast forward 4th July a little more dressed up. He comes in. He's like, yeah. So, you know, she just kept talking about, like, how funny you are. And she kept saying, like, did you see? And he's like, that's how he saw you dress. She's like, he just looks so different. And he's like, dude, she got, like, this thing with you. And he's like, you know what? He's like, dude, he could be. He could be your dad. Okay? Just. Just remember that. He could be your dad. So, like, it's. I guess it's like a running joke with them where she'll say, like, well, so the latest one was like, well, if we can't have kids, like, we can always have. Try, like, for us. And she's like. And he's like, are you serious? And she's like, well, you could be in the room and, like, watch. He's like, it doesn't happen like that. And so she.
• 7:51
Speaker A: She jumped right over the test tubes and just said, he's gonna. Me.
• 7:56
  Speaker B: Yes. So.
• 7:57
Speaker A: But, like, when you can talk about getting a sample first and then to have a doctor tell you, you know, it's really better. It's. It's more likely to happen.
• 8:07
Speaker B: Yeah. So I. The other day he called me. He goes, hey, she wants to ask you something. I forget what it was, but he goes, hold on, I'm gonna put her on the phone. And I'm like, hey, what's up, girl?
• 8:18
  Speaker A: How you doing?
• 8:20
Speaker B: And I just got all. I got all quiet and. And he's like, babe, I told him the story. And I was like, looks like we're gonna have kids, baby girl. You know? And. But apparently she's pretty funny because, like, she jokes with him constantly about that stuff. And he's like, she jokes like you a lot, like, where you just say some that you wouldn't expect. And I'm like, I appreciate her for that. Maybe I do like her, you know? Yeah. Maybe I'll just wait Till they break up.
• 8:54
Speaker A: It's weird when you see parallels between your chick and a guy friend.
• 9:03
Speaker B: As long as it's personality, like a characteristic of personality, Humor, wits, smarts, whatever it is. It's the looks. It's when they look like your best friends, you're like, yeah, yeah, I'm good.
• 9:22
Speaker A: Yeah. I think the allegations would have been pretty undeniable if I had ever gotten involved with. I think, I think people would have had some stuff to say about that.
• 9:34
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah.
• 9:38
Speaker A: Which is so funny because, like, she is a pretty girl and she just happens to look like her dog dick ugly brother. Like, how is that possible?
• 9:49
Speaker B: Okay, that's kind of how I feel about stretch marks. I've seen his sister, right?
• 9:55
Speaker A: Because his sisters are hot.
• 9:56
Speaker B: You said, well, they're not bad. But I'm like, dude, like I. They're. They all have the same eyes that look like they're wearing eyeliner and mascara. Or. Or yeah, I think it's mascara. The ones that go on your eyelashes, they're all wearing that. And I'm like, not wearing that. They all look like that. And I'm like, dude, like, no way. There's no way I'm gonna fucking get with someone that looks like him.
• 10:28
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, that'd be too much.
• 10:31
  Speaker B: That's weird.
• 10:32
Speaker A: Fucking raccoon babies running around,
• 10:36
Speaker B: you know? I'm saying, plus he'd be my brother in law. That would geek him out. He'd get all geeked out over that.
• 10:46
Speaker A: He'd be getting him from every direction. I'm with your sister, I'm with your girlfriend. I'm gonna give your mom a call after this.
• 10:54
Speaker B: I did tell him that. I said, I said, hey, man, like, what do you say? He said, he said something and I was like, he goes, oh, that's what the call. He goes, she wanted me to text you a picture of her laying on your bed because they came over to pick up to drop off the truck keys. My work truck keys. And. And he goes, yeah, I showed her, you know, we were in your room. He's like. So I was like, just showing her your room and stuff. And she goes, you should send him a picture of me on his bed. And I was like, that's so funny. She said the same thing last night. She sent you a picture of her on my bed. And I was like, but your mom wasn't having it, you know?
• 11:47
Speaker A: Now don't lie. That would have gotten you a little excited, right?
• 11:51
  Speaker B: What's that?
• 11:52
Speaker A: Seeing a picture of her on your bed, excited?
• 11:56
Speaker B: No, I mean, back in the day when I was a pos for sure. Like, if there's.
• 12:03
Speaker A: We're talking strictly involuntary.
• 12:06
Speaker B: What are you talking about? Involuntary turned on you.
• 12:09
Speaker A: You have an involuntary excitement to what you're seeing in the picture.
• 12:14
  Speaker B: Nah. No.
• 12:16
  Speaker A: Really?
• 12:17
  Speaker B: Yeah.
• 12:21
Speaker A: Have you ever house that for a girl?
• 12:25
Speaker B: Have I ever had. What? Involuntary arousal.
• 12:29
Speaker A: Have you ever. Have you ever house sat for a girl?
• 12:35
Speaker B: I probably have. Like, when I was younger.
• 12:39
Speaker A: Did it get weird?
• 12:40
Speaker B: I've house that with a girl, sure,
• 12:47
Speaker A: yeah. Well, it's good that she's got a good sense of humor. I don't know. That would get old to me after a minute
• 13:00
Speaker B: for sure. Especially when it's someone like me, you know,
• 13:08
Speaker A: it is. It is weird. I mean, unless there's nothing, like, something you've never told me, like, none of my girlfriends have ever had, like, a thing for you, but it sounds like everyone. Everyone's girlfriend, eventually.
• 13:24
  Speaker B: Chicks.
• 13:26
Speaker A: No, I mean, two of them. Yeah.
• 13:29
Speaker B: Your girls would go to concerts. I would never even. Never even listen to on the radio.
• 13:34
Speaker A: Only three of them have been goth chicks.
• 13:38
Speaker B: How many of those have I met?
• 13:40
  Speaker A: Two.
• 13:41
  Speaker B: Yeah. See?
• 13:43
Speaker A: Yeah. Really gothic goth chick.
• 13:47
  Speaker B: I don't. I mean, I've been with a couple, but. Yeah.
• 13:51
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 13:56
Speaker B: I'm not. I'm. I'm gonna say this. First of all, welcome to Pseudonyms. One chick I was with, it was really weird, but I'm not gonna lie. I fucking loved it. She told me to spit in her mouth while we were having sex.
• 14:19
Speaker A: We've talked about this on the podcast.
• 14:21
  Speaker B: Have we not?
• 14:22
Speaker A: Not this exact event, but our predilection for spitting in people's mouths. Actually, I'm the opposite. I would never do. But I want it to be done to me.
• 14:38
  Speaker B: Really?
• 14:39
Speaker A: Yeah. I've asked for it on at least two occasions and was denied both times.
• 14:44
Speaker B: Are you fucking kidding me, dude?
• 14:47
Speaker A: No, I'm not kidding, dude.
• 14:48
Speaker B: We were fucking spitting each other's fucking mouth. Fucking choking.
• 14:54
Speaker A: I don't think I would like doing it to someone else because, like, I've got coffee breath. I just.
• 15:01
  Speaker B: I feel like.
• 15:02
Speaker A: I feel like phlegm would be coming out accidentally. And it's not supposed to be phlegm. It's supposed to be, you know, crystal clear.
• 15:10
Speaker B: If you licked my. I don't care. Oh, yeah, it was funny. I. I saw El Padre today, and so did I bring up the fact that Jackson didn't make his mom's bed because she found. He found what was underneath it.
• 15:32
  Speaker A: No.
• 15:33
  Speaker B: Okay. All right.
• 15:35
Speaker A: So I love this so much. I'm so excited for this.
• 15:40
Speaker B: Miami's kid is. Is a good kid. Like, really good kid. Like, he's 19, and he comes home from New Year's Eve the next day, comes home on New Year's Day, and he's like, you know, Miami's like, are you okay? Miami's a helicopter mom all day. So she's like, are you okay? You know, like, did you get too drunk? Like, tell me what happened. He's like, oh, yeah, I got drunk. I threw up. You know, like. But it was all cool, you know? He's like, I think I'm still. What?
• 16:10
Speaker A: I would never tell my mom stuff like that.
• 16:13
Speaker B: They're weird, bro. So, like, he will fall asleep in her bed.
• 16:19
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 16:20
Speaker B: And it's just weird. So he was telling her, and he's like, I think I'm a little. Still. I'm still a little drunk. She's like, oh, my gosh. Like, Jackson. And she's going, I'm like, babe. Like, that was me at 13. Like, the kid's 19. This is first time ever doing this. Because this was like. He was like, oh, I've never. I've never drank like that before. And I'm like, dude, I was drinking like that at 14, bro. Like, yeah, what's up?
• 16:45
Speaker A: I'm sitting at my mom's sewing table, and I just realized that it raises up. Oh, so gonna get a little elevation. Sorry for the distraction.
• 16:55
Speaker B: No, you're good. So he's a good kid. So he's home this last couple weeks. Whatever. You met him. We went to.
• 17:02
Speaker A: I'm making fun of this kid, and I'm like, I'm sitting at my mommy's sewing table,
• 17:09
Speaker B: and he goes, his girl's sitting with them. We're all playing board games and stuff. And he goes, oh, yeah. You know, she goes, oh, yeah. We got drunk. And she's like, jackson, you guys got drunk last night. Like, where'd you get the liquor? And she's. She's like, no. She's like, were you, like, a gym? Like, did you get rowdy? And she's like, no. He was. It was like. We had a really good time. It was like. It was. We did some fun stuff. And I was like, oh, I could have swore you were gonna fall. Follow that with. We did some butt stuff. And she was like, oh, my gosh. And I was like, I honestly thought you were gonna say that. And he was like, you're crazy, man. You're crazy. I was like, by the way, Jackson, that's just a Monday night for me. And your old mom and you're a
• 17:52
Speaker A: nightmare of a stepdad saying like that.
• 17:56
Speaker B: He's like, stop, dude. That's gross. Off. So fast forward. We're at the wedding in Long in Laguna beach, and, you know, she calls her kid probably, I don't know, two, three times a day, and he gets. He answers. And she's like, where are you? He's like, oh, I'm in your bed. And she's like, really? He's like, yeah. And he's like, I got a girl here. Like, he always brags when he's got a girl. I got a girl here, mom. Look at her. So she. He's like, she's in the restroom. Wait till she comes out. So she comes out. He's like, look, this is my mom. She's like, oh, hi. Hey, how's it going? And she goes, are you serious? He goes, yeah, don't worry, mom. I'll clean the sheets. Don't worry. I'll clean the sheets. I'll clean the sheets before you get home. I'll make the bed. And I was like, jackson, did you make the bed? Beef, did you. Did you change the seats before you guys slept in it? And he was like. And I was like, I'm not the only one that squirts in this relationship. But
• 19:00
  Speaker A: he's getting all like, you're a monster. You're a monster.
• 19:06
Speaker B: He's like, oh, that's gross. He's like, whatever. He goes, mom, I'll change the sheets and make the bed before you get home. And I was like, I wouldn't look under that mattress. And he's like, what's on the mattress? I was like, nothing. I'm just saying I wouldn't look under it. So I. I show up to the house, and the bed's not made. The bed's not made. And I go, oh, I thought he was gonna make the bed before he. You got home? She goes, yeah, I walked in the door, and he goes, I started to make the bed, and I stopped. What do you got, dog collars and stuff under the. Under the mattress and straps and bondage stuff? And I was like. He's like, I wasn't making the bed after I saw that.
• 19:55
Speaker A: I would half expect him. After you made that joke about his mom squirting, I would half expect him to be like, oh, yeah. Do you do the trick with the middle and ring fingers? Because she really likes.
• 20:08
  Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know, dude.
• 20:09
Speaker A: I. I put her on her belly.
• 20:12
Speaker B: Where were we? Someone. Oh, we were playing game night, and The. And I. I've told the girls, like, he falls asleep in her bed. He sleeps in her bed. And so all my daughters are like, you sleep in your mom's bed still? Like, that is so weird. Like, you're a man. Like, that's just weird. And so, like, we get in the car and she's like, you told everybody sleeps in the bed. I was like, I tell everybody he sleeps in your bed. Like, that to me is so weird. She's like, he was watching TV and fell asleep. Yeah, but that's not the case all the time. You had to give up the vape or what, dude?
• 20:50
  Speaker A: Huh?
• 20:51
Speaker B: You gave up the vape or what? Wife came in, was like, hey, I need the vape.
• 20:56
Speaker A: No, I put it in my pocket.
• 20:59
Speaker B: Oh, I thought you were trying not
• 21:00
Speaker A: to use it as much.
• 21:03
Speaker B: Oh, yeah. We were supposed to quit.
• 21:06
Speaker A: Yeah. I would love it if she vaped.
• 21:10
  Speaker B: Really?
• 21:11
Speaker A: No. Yeah, just do something.
• 21:18
Speaker B: If you're not gonna spit in my mouth, at least vape with me.
• 21:23
Speaker A: Can we just have one thing?
• 21:27
Speaker B: I get it, bro.
• 21:29
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 21:30
  Speaker B: I ain't mad at you.
• 21:31
Speaker A: That's a funny relationship that they have.
• 21:37
Speaker B: Yeah, no, it's weird as. Bro, I don't. I think it's weird, bro. And I've told her, I'm like, dude, you guys just have a really weird relationship. I'm like, imagine if I zoomed in on my 19 year old's stomach when she was like, in a bikini and was like, look at her body. Look at her body. She's like, that's not. She's like, what do you. What are you getting? I'm like, every time Jack is shirtless in a picture, you're like, look, this is Jack. And then you zoom in on his body. Even when I'm not looking you, I see you zooming in on his, like, abs. Oh, my gosh, he looks so ripped. I'm like, that would be like me doing it to my dad. It's just fucking weird, bro. Just fucking weird. I don't care who you are, it's fucking weird.
• 22:20
Speaker A: My dad had a friend. Not a friend, a co worker at the post office who bragged about his son in a really weird way. His son was like 17 and he used. I remember he. He would tell me that this guy would always be talking about his dick and be like, that thing is 12 inches soft, man. It's crazy. And like, bragging about all the little high school chicks he's. And stuff. Weird.
• 22:54
Speaker B: That's what she does. She's always like, he met another Girl. He met another girl. And like, I don't know if she thinks I'm gonna be like, amazed, like, man, that kid just goes through chicks. She doesn't know my body count, you know, I mean like, it might be
• 23:07
Speaker A: because you make fun of him and she's trying to like build him up to you.
• 23:13
Speaker B: Nope, she's always been like this, even before I knew him. And we weren't really like. She'd always be like, so can you believe he met another girl and he spent night at a girl's house last night? And I'm like, I mean, what else? Like, dude, I was doing like a different girl a week growing up. What are you talking about?
• 23:33
Speaker A: Yeah, I can't relate to that.
• 23:35
Speaker B: No, I know, I know. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up bad shit.
• 23:44
Speaker A: It's not bad shit. I was just.
• 23:48
Speaker B: Yeah, you're one of those.
• 23:49
Speaker A: Get out there. I didn't. Get out there.
• 23:51
Speaker B: You're one of those guys that are like, yeah, I'm gonna be. I'm waiting till I'm married.
• 23:57
Speaker A: But I didn't. It was really, it was really like, it had to have been anxiety because like, I don't know, this is kind of what I've, what I've said and I've said this to younger guys. There was, there was a guy I worked with who was 20, really talented, like actor, singer guy that I worked with and chicks were all over him all the time. And he like had a long term girlfriend for a while, but that was it. And like never wanted to date these chicks or any. They would like come to work, they would like bring him lunch and like want to hang out with him on his lunch break and stuff. And all of us, all of the older guys, we were like, so what's up? Like, you gonna take her out? Like, what's, what's going on? He's just like, oh, no, you know, we're just friends, like just friends with these chicks. And so I tell him and others like him, like, there comes a point where you realize it's the 40 year old virgin thing, dude. Like, you're putting the pussy on a pedestal and that's all there is to it. So, yes, my, my sister, when I was young, when I was like 12, 13, my sister had a friend who I was obsessed with. Cute like blonde chick. I was obsessed with her and I like wouldn't, I could barely like speak to her when she was around, you know. And like, I tried but you know, she was 16 and I'm 12 and, you know, it's obviously like, a weird thing, but looking back on it, she was like a kind of a chubby chick who was, like, obsessed with vampires. And it's like, I could have impregnated her if I knew that. Like, if I knew she was just some insecure nerd, like, I could have done whatever I wanted, you know? So, like, there just comes a point where you realize, like, it's not gonna kill you to ask for the number. It's not gonna kill you to take them out. Like, even if they reject you, it's not the end of the world. You know? And, like, if you don't try it and you don't practice, you do just seize up from the fear of it. And. And it just took me forever to get, like, I didn't go on a date until I was 18 years old.
• 26:14
  Speaker B: What a loser.
• 26:17
Speaker A: I know. No, I agree. I mean, it's. It's. It's ancient history, so it's not like I'm like, I don't regret it or anything. It's. It just is what it is. But, like, it. It. I wish someone had just told me what reality was because, like, nobody really sat me down and said, like, you can manipulate women. You know, like, you. You don't have to be afraid of them.
• 26:43
Speaker B: Yeah. You don't have to tell them the truth. For me, I'm at an age now where, yes, the. Not on a pedestal. I used to give it up to anybody that showed me attention, you know, like, anybody that was like, oh, my gosh, you're cute. And I'm like, I don't care if you're chubby or not. Let's get it on. And my mom always told me, the chubby ones will do that. The pretty ones won't. Yeah.
• 27:12
Speaker A: I mean, see, I didn't have a sage in my life to tell me that.
• 27:18
Speaker B: And it's true. The chubby, they just want to keep you. Now, now, it's not the case now. The chubby ones, and I blame this on the blacks, but now the chubby
• 27:27
Speaker A: ones, they're getting a little too big for their britches. No pun intended.
• 27:30
Speaker B: Yeah, black men and Lizzo, like, got these girls thinking like. Like just being. And it's like, no, no, no, no, no, no. You're. You're desired because you're chubby and you look easy now that you're an asshole. Now you're just a fat bitch.
• 27:50
Speaker A: You know, we had a social contract going on. You got to be chubby and you were approachable. You Know, like, you can't fuck with that balance in nature.
• 28:03
Speaker B: But now I'm at an age where it's like, you know, people ask because of my marriage, like, you know, my past marriage, you know, would you. You think you'd ever cheat again? I don't. I don't think I would. I mean, like, it's. Pussy is so easy to get that I'm just like, it's overrated. It's overrated.
• 28:24
Speaker A: I never got there. I just. I just got to the point of not being afraid to put myself out there.
• 28:32
Speaker B: Yeah. I don't know, man. I just got to a point where we're just like, I don't know. But all that to say me and Miami are doing great. So I go to this happy hour and. Funny kid I'm reading this letter for. This letter's on my. It's a card. It's on my desk. And it's from stretch marks. I was just looking. I'm like, what kind of. What word is that? And it's supposed to be remember? But it's remeber. He spelled it, remember? And so our little miracle, you know? So I'm at this happy hour and this girl is. She's. She's works for a company that's kind of co sponsoring the happy hour. And because she's co sponsoring the happy hour, like, she's going around talking to everybody. So she comes up to me and she's just talking to me, and I can tell she likes me. And she's like, you know, we should get lunch sometime. You know, I'm like, all right, cool. You know, whatever. Or no, we talk. That was really it. And then she text me like, hey, you free next week? We scrap lunch, you know, talk about work, whatever. Well, all right. Week goes by, nothing happens. She text me again this week. She was like, hey, can you get lunch tomorrow or the next day? I said, sure. So we go to lunch, and I'm talking work stuff. Hey, so you know, like, how do you like being in business development? What's some of your approaches? This and that. And she's like, is this why you asked me to lunch? So you could kind of, like, figure out, like, how I do things? And I'm like, I didn't invite you to lunch. You invited me. She's like, no, I didn't. You asked me to lunch. No, no. So, yeah, whatever. Sure, I don't care. But yeah, then she wanted to talk about personal shit. But she's a pretty girl. In the past, I would have laid it out But I'm not that guy anymore. I don't need to.
• 31:06
Speaker A: Does Miami know about this lunch?
• 31:10
  Speaker B: No.
• 31:11
  Speaker A: Interesting.
• 31:14
Speaker B: I mean, she knows I had a lunch. I tell her anytime I have, like, lunch or meetings. She doesn't ask who it's with. I mean, like, but at the same time, like, I didn't overstep any boundaries. I didn't flirt.
• 31:26
Speaker A: No, I'm just kidding, you know, oh,
• 31:30
Speaker B: you're in the group. A majority of people feel that way. And I, I kind of imagine, like, I kind of thought about that, like, well, it's a one on one with the female. It's a one on one with the female. And I was like, if I was married, I would have had to tell my wife. Not that I don't have to tell Miami, but I feel like it's, it's for work. It's not like, you know, like, why am I gonna make a big deal out about, about it? You know what I mean?
• 32:09
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 32:10
Speaker B: Oh, maybe I should tell her.
• 32:14
  Speaker A: Nah,
• 32:17
  Speaker B: nah.
• 32:18
Speaker A: I think you should go to lunch again. See where this thing goes.
• 32:26
Speaker B: She's pretty, but she's my height. She's got a nice body for my height. I mean, like, her body matches her height. It's not like you're like, whoa.
• 32:41
Speaker A: Taller. Chicks have trouble keeping, keeping the weight off.
• 32:47
Speaker B: Well, she's not, she's not fat. I wouldn't call her. I mean, she'd be fat by science standards, but she wouldn't be fat. Like, if you saw her, you wouldn't be like, oh, she's fat. You'd be like, damn, she has some big tits. But I just, I don't know, man. I'm not trying to up what me and Miami have. Like, Miami accepts me for who I am. She knows my past. I don't have to make up. I don't have to hide shit. She got a good career. She takes care of herself. She fights to pay for bills. I, I, it's just like, all the stuff where I'm like, like, I wouldn't, I don't, I have a good thing, and I don't want to trade that in for some, you know, it's not like I got some unemployed woman that I'm paying for her college, you know, and she's gonna be something one day. Yeah, yeah, good job, big country, somebody that can't keep a job. And she's, you know, she's a secretary for the most part, everywhere she goes.
• 33:51
Speaker A: That did sound a little specific.
• 33:56
Speaker B: Not that there's anything wrong being a secretary, but I do Enjoy being with a woman that makes decent money, that doesn't mind paying for things when. When she feels like, oh, for instance, when we went to Laguna Beach, I paid for the hotel. It was probably like 900 for the weekend when we got there. Dude, she paid for everything. She was like, no, I got this. You paid for the hotel. Let me get breakfast. Oh, bunch of souvenirs. Let me get it.
• 34:30
  Speaker A: You.
• 34:30
Speaker B: You paid for the hotel. I'm like, that's cool, dude. I can appreciate that. Like, she likes to try and carry, like, hold her weight and. And I can appreciate that, you know, But I'm old fashioned. If I could pay before she does, I will.
• 34:42
Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. Are you successfully living a separate life from big country or is she still crossing into your bowling lane?
• 34:59
Speaker B: So she text me last week and she's like, hey, do you have a minute? I'm like, animating.
• 35:06
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 35:06
Speaker B: So I found. I call her, I'm like, what's going on? She's like, hey, so you know. And she goes on about number fours, something with number four. She's like, oh, yeah. So number four this that. She's like, oh, she told me you guys are moving. Were you. Were you gonna tell me or like, are you. I feel like I should meet your girlfriend. I mean, if she's going to be kind of in my daughter's life. And I'm like, cool. There's no certainty that I'm moving. I was like. So I said, I'm not moving. If is not ready, I'm not moving. Like, like there's so many things that dictate whether I'm moving at the end of my lease. And I was like. And she goes, well, okay. She's like, that makes sense. She's like, you know, like, I feel like I, you know, if I was with somebody and they were 20ft from. They slept 20ft from your daughter, like, I would introduce them to you, you know, I feel like, like you owe me that respect. Like we. We were together for 20 years. Like you. You something. Like you should show me the respect to introduce me to your girlfriend. I said, being married 20 years does not mean we're married now. Don't take this wrong way, but I give a. About your respect. I said, I don't, I don't re. I don't respect you, nor do I ask you to respect me. Don't give a about it. You are nobody but my daughter's mom. I said, and this is how I look at it. You've let her stay at some of your friends Houses overnight with their kids. Did you call me up and say, hey, I think you should meet my friend before your daughter spends a night over there? No, I said, but you're her mom, and I know your number one concern is her. I know you care about her, and you have her best interests at heart. I'm the same way. I wouldn't date somebody that did not. That did not like my kids or was rude to my kids or my kids didn't feel comfortable around. And she's like, well, you know, I was like, but I have no problem with you meeting her. I was like, but it's not because I. I have respect for you, because I don't. I would simply let you meet her because you're number four is mom. You can just clip that whole thing out. See how that happened?
• 37:31
Speaker A: Yeah, that. That was good. You've said a lot of names, by the way. I think. I think you're a little lost in it.
• 37:39
  Speaker B: Did I really?
• 37:41
Speaker A: You've said Miami Son's name. You've said your own name. You said number three's name.
• 37:48
Speaker B: Did I? Oh, oh, yeah, I did. I did. I did, man. I'll try and stay away from that. Sorry, guys, for all the beeps. My future stories will be different.
• 37:59
Speaker A: You're all good, dude.
• 38:00
Speaker B: Yeah. So I thought that was funny. And I'm just like. So I tell Miami, and Miami's like, well, you know, I would like to meet her. I'm like, it has nothing to do with you guys liking to meet each other. Like, I get it. Like, you guys will meet.
• 38:12
Speaker A: I'm glad everyone wants to meet each other. Great. Who gives a.
• 38:15
Speaker B: You can meet her when. Like, if. When we move in. Sure. I was like, but there's no need for it right now. Like, but yeah, so that's the sitch, you know, so. Yeah. So tonight's topic. Everybody's asked that I've told, you know, because everybody knows Wednesday night's my podcast night. And they were like, what. What's your topic tonight? The power of words. The power of words. So I was looking at it because I've been seeing a lot. Like, I don't know what my algorithm is in. In Instagram, but I've been seeing a lot, like, you know, when, you know, the first of all, it kind of started with the English language is basically made up of, like, witchcraft words. You know what I mean? Spelling. And I only say spelling because they're like, oh, it's casting a spell. You know, like, that's where spelling comes from. Or, you know, I forget what the other one was, but like, oh, giving your da da da da. That's. And I get it, but I'm, I'm just, I'm curious about it. And so that kind of went into seeing clips of people talking about like, oh, words are powerful. And when, when you say stuff like, I can't do this, I'm dead tired. Like you're speaking that into existence and you won't be able to do it, or you won't. Like you're, you're basically putting yourself in that. Whatever you proclaimed, I can't do it, I'm dead tired. You, you, you are. Now there,
• 40:16
Speaker A: I got some information on that, on the spelling one, I guess. Spells like witchcraft spells came from the old English word spell, which just meant speech or discourse or story. Oh God, what happened to me? I'm under a spell. I tried to tell you the truth and it got me. Because the formulas and the incantations were spoken, eventually spell became the word for it. But it's not that spelling comes from that.
• 40:57
Speaker B: So here's the theory. The claim usually goes something like this. The English language was intentionally designed by occultists or witches to cast spells through words, which is why we spell words, attend grammar school and use curses like curse words. Supporters often point to words like spelling, grammar, curse words, incantation, enchantment, abracadabra, and argue that language itself is magical. The theory then concludes the words you speak create spiritual realities. The sounds compelling. This sounds compelling because of the similarity similarities in vocabulary. Where did the theory come from? This idea became especially popular through New Age teachings, modern occult discussions, Internet videos, some charismatic Christian teachers, social media influencers. It is not a historical view taught by linguists or historians. The linguistic reality is the English developed is that English developed over roughly 1500 years ago, evolved from photo, Indo, European, photo, Germanic or Germanic, I guess Old English, Anglo, Saxons, Norse influences, Norman, French, Latin and Greek. It wasn't invented all at once by one secret group. Instead, millions of people gradually shaped it. The English language is an ever changing mixture rather than a designed system. What about spelling? This is probably the strongest point people make. They say, why do we cast a spell when we spell? Historically, the word spell originally meant to tell, speak or read letters one by one. Old English spell meant story, message, discourse, speech. Only later did another meaning develop that is magical spell. Both share the same. Both share the same root. Because speaking words aloud was viewed as powerful in many ancient cultures, it does not mean dictionaries or books of magic. What about grammar? Some people claim grammar comes from Grimoire. Grimoire. Actually, history shows something different. Grammar comes from Greek, gramma, meaning letter. Something written. Grimoire came much later. Interestingly, both words share the same ancient root. Why? Because in medieval Europe, very few people could read. People who could read Latin often appeared mysterious. Books themselves seemed magical to many. Eventually, books of magic became known as grimoires. So grammar not derived from magic. Grimoire derived from the same root as grammar. And it goes on to say curse words and abracadabra. But I think abracadabra means. What's the other thing? If you want to open a. Open a. Yeah, open says me.
• 44:19
Speaker A: Okay, Abra, Abracadabra. So I wanna reach out and grab you. Music Tourette's Callback Call back.
• 44:34
Speaker B: So why do so many cultures believe words have power? Which is kind of the subject tonight. This is fascinating. Nearly every civilization believed speech matters. Examples. Egyptians speaking names gave power. Greeks rhetoric could move nations. Hebrews blessings and curses mattered. Romans legal declarations changed status. Modern psychology. Language shapes thought. So the belief that word, the belief that words matter is ancient, but that is different from saying English itself is occultic. So, yeah, that's kind of. And then it goes into like, what the Bible says. Bible certainly teaches words are powerful. Give some example. And this is. What does science say? Modern psychology provides evidence that language influences us, though not in a supernatural sense. And then, yeah, while, while you were
• 45:37
Speaker A: talking, I remembered that I wrote a blog very much about this sort of thing. So it's. It's about language basically being telekinetic. And the. The purpose of the blog is like, how the state uses it to manipulate you into believing certain things. But I. I wrote a lot of interesting things about it, which is basically what you're talking about right now. I wrote that language is a combination of symbols that substitute concepts. Those symbols can be sounds we make with our mouths, characters we write with a pen on a screen or carve into a cave wall. We have agreed upon meanings for these symbols, but they can and do change their meaning over time. This is why it's so easy for manipulators to reappropriate words or stretch definitions to convey the narrative that suits them best. The linguist Noam Chomsky has a hypothesis he calls the universal grammar, which is the innate ability of all human beings to communicate with language. That's why children pick up language so naturally, just by being around it. They already have the mechanism for it. Even our thoughts take place in language to one degree or another, whether in pictures, feelings, or words. Even people with no ability to Speak. Find ways to communicate in sync. Symbols like sign language or even just pointing and grunting. It's still language. And then I talk about the Tower of Babel. What does God do to confuse and divide people? He makes them speak different languages so they can't communicate. And then there's a really cool. Stephen King has a really cool thing on his book about writing. And the idea is basically that words are telekinesis. And so when I. When I say something here, I've got this. I've got this quote. This is a great quote. You're gonna love this. Look, here's a table covered with a red cloth. On it is a cage the size of a small fish aquarium. In the cage is a white rabbit with a pink nose and pink rimmed eyes. In its front paws is a carrot stub upon which it is contentedly munching. On its back, clearly marked in blue ink, is the numeral 8. Do we see the same thing? We'd have to get together and compare notes to make absolutely sure, but I think we do. This is what we're looking at and we all see it. I didn't tell you. You didn't ask me. I never opened my mouth and you never opened yours. We're not even in the same year together yet alone. Let alone the same room, except we are together. I sent you a table with a red cloth on it, a cage, a rabbit, and the number eight in blue ink. It's crazy.
• 48:33
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. You're painting that poor. Then your words are going to live forever.
• 48:40
Speaker A: Yes. So I kind of go on to like, pick out, like, key words like Nazi and denier and things like this that make associations in your brain without saying it. Here I say the political elite have used denier to discredit other things and compare them to Holocaust denial. Because that's what we're always thinking of when we say denier climate deniers. Nine, 11 deniers, you know, Covid deniers. Like, why are all election deniers? Why are all these people deniers? Well, it's because we're trying to associate them with Holocaust denial and make them sound crazy immediately. You see.
• 49:23
Speaker B: Let me ask you, have you seen anything on the Fauci trial?
• 49:30
Speaker A: I started watching it today and I just got frustrated, realizing that he's not going to answer any questions. So.
• 49:38
Speaker B: Yeah, so I'd love to talk about
• 49:40
Speaker A: that if you want to talk about that for a second.
• 49:43
Speaker B: Well, it's in our subject, because he knows the power of his words. That's why he can't say Nothing. Yeah, and I just thought it was funny. Well, go on. What do you want to talk about it?
• 49:59
Speaker A: Well. Well, yours was kind of on topic. Mine's. Mine's not. But. But when I first started hearing news coverage of that this hearing was going to be happening, I realized, by the way, that someone was talking about it. I just realized that I still carry a lot of hurt over the lockdowns and, like, how much everything changed and, like, the division that, you know, happened in my life because of it, and, like, life changes that had to happen because of it, and, you know, people thinking I'm crazy for not believing in it or not wearing a mask or not wanting to get vaccinated and, I mean, like, arguments that went on for years because of these things, and a lot of liberals. Yeah, I mean, you got to remember that it wasn't just liberals at first. Like, there were plenty of conservatives who were worried about COVID from the beginning. It took three or four months. Huh.
• 51:10
Speaker B: Were you in California when it started?
• 51:12
Speaker A: Yeah, I was in California when it started. It's why we moved to Oklahoma. And, you know, and then I ended up living in Oklahoma for five years, which I didn't really want to do, but know that's. That's where I ended up because of the lockdowns. But, you know, it took three months for the conservatives to kind of get what was going on and to largely, like, start rejecting all that stuff. It was. It was a pretty fringe group who was denying it from the beginning. And I. Specifically, what. What affected me, like, I. I almost got emotional. I didn't in any real sense, but I felt it in my heart. I felt like the beginning of. Like, if I. If I really let this set in, I might get emotional, which is about the most disconnected emotion you can have. But I still felt that when I heard that his journal was declassified and he was talking about how he knew that There was a 0.03% death rate before he ever recommended lockdowns or school closures or any of this stuff. And I realized, like, oh. So the thing I was saying in March of 2020, not only is it, like, pretty widely believed today that the death rate was much lower than they said, but now we've got that guy, We've got Anthony Fauci himself saying it on the record, and it. It almost made me happy because I just almost felt like there's gonna be some. Some kind of justice, and I know he's not going to be punished at all. Probably no one is. But if. If the majority of the country could just realize that I wasn't crazy. I would just, I feel like I would get some kind of closure out of that. You know, like if, if the majority of my of people who disagreed with me or called me crazy or whatever, just. Why do you give a. I don't know. That's what confused me so much because if you'd asked me the day before, I would have said, yeah, fucking six years ago, who gives a shit? And then all these feelings started coming and that, that just tells me that I, I, you know, sweat that shit under the rug and, and didn't really work through it, you know, cuz like I lost my career, I had to move out of state, you know, had a bunch of things that happened to her, the, that you know, I'm not supposed to talk about. But you know, like a lot of, a lot of stuff was fun.
• 53:43
Speaker B: Did she get the shot?
• 53:45
Speaker A: No, she didn't. But like she got kicked out of her house because she was, she was still working and the owner of the house didn't want her coming in and out. So it was either like, quit your job and stop seeing your fiance or get the out of the house. And so she left the house and she moved in with me. And you know, so it's like it was not simply like, oh, I had to take three months off and get some unemployment. And it was rough for a while. It's like, no, it changed the course of my life forever. Like I, I'm not a barber now. I spent five years in Oklahoma. You know, like we, we got married at a different time and place. We, you know, like just literally everything was affected by it. I left my church was never able to go back because they closed before I moved back to California. You know, so it was like, it affected me. I don't want to say more than most people I know, but I feel like probably, I feel like most people I know didn't.
• 54:50
Speaker B: I think you let it more than affect you more than most people. Well, I think you allow it. I mean. Oh, like stuff that you couldn't help. Yes. But I think your response to it is like, like for me, I'm like them, like. Yeah, there were people that were like, you know, my in laws were like, you can't get next to us. Can't get. Then don't come over. Get the out of here. Like that's how I handled it. You don't want to get sick. Don't come around me. Why? Because I don't wear mask at work. This, this is all malar.
• 55:26
  Speaker A: This is all.
• 55:28
Speaker B: I've worked every day since, like, construction didn't stop. I have guys licking things that people with COVID touched, and they're like, oh, it's fake. Let me show you. He touched right there, and he's licking, like. And it's dirty. We're in demo process of this building. This guy's licking a dirty ass pipe that some guy touched. And it was like. For me, it's just. I don't know, man. I get it. I get where you're at because you lost shit. I didn't lose anything. I mean, I actually enjoyed it. I was trying to get sick. Just like.
• 56:04
Speaker A: Yeah. And that's kind of what I'm saying is, like, that. That seems to be, like, most people's experience. Like, my sister had to start working from home, and they just never went back. She still works from home to this day, and she likes it a lot better, you know, and it seems like most people I know, with a few exceptions, like, most people I know actually had, like, a pretty good time out of it all. And. And then. And then also had the gall to, like, call me crazy or, like, stop being my friend. In some cases, you know, I definitely had some relationships end that never, you know, were repaired. And, you know, and if you asked me, I'd probably just be like, yeah, I. Whatever. It is what it is, it happened. But then I can't help but, like, noticing my reaction to the news and realizing, like, oh, it actually matters a lot to me that, like, people know the truth about this and. And know, like. And have some kind of reckoning. Like, I want. I somehow want people to realize they were wrong and to, like, not repeat that mistake in their life again. And I just know that sounds like
• 57:22
Speaker B: you want people to realize they're wrong and give you a call and be like, hey, dude, that's not gonna happen.
• 57:28
Speaker A: That's not gonna happen. And I'll tell you exactly why. You know, one person who I had a lot of disagreements with, you know, blamed me for, like, problems at the church because of the things I was saying online. And, you know, I didn't wear a mask in the backyard when we finally, like, started gathering as a church again. And so he, like, blamed me for people not wanting to come because there's some people not wearing their masks, all that stuff. A year or two later, we were shooting the shit, and he, like, made a joke about how ridiculous the whole Covid thing was. And I was like, do you really feel that way? Like, I. I didn't say this, but I, I. In my head, I was like, do you have something you want to say to me? Like, like, like you. You can't make a joke like that after everything you said to me and just pretend like you're always on the right side.
• 58:21
Speaker B: You know, anything. I don't know how you don't say anything. I say something all the time. If you're with me, I'm gonna say something.
• 58:28
Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, if someone I didn't like, said it, then probably, but, like, if it's.
• 58:34
Speaker B: I don't give a if you like me or not.
• 58:36
  Speaker A: Yeah, I know.

Speaker B: The owner of my company, the owner of my company got on us about, hey, sometimes our clients turn us away. They go with other people because we don't turn in the proposals quick enough. And it was about me. He was like, when are you going to turn this in? I was like, dude, I got it Monday. It's Thursday. I'm waiting on two more subs to give me some numbers. It'll be in now. Fast forward. I have two jobs that I'm waiting for him to send bids on. And finally, I'm not going to say anything, but the client finally asked, do you guys know when you'll have numbers for xyz? So it was to me and the owner and my senior pm. And I said, oh, and in our. I took out everybody but me, my owner and the pm. I said, hey, guys, I really don't want to lose this job. I don't want to lose any job, no matter what size it is. I think this is what. And let's just call him Jesus. I think this is what Jesus was talking about when he said, we are taking too long to turn in proposals. Now, mind you, he set the rule last week that all proposals need to go through him. So we build them and we send them to him for review. Then he sends them to the client. And we built it. We sent it to him. He just didn't bless it. So I'm like, pretty sure this is what Jesus was talking about when he said we need to get our proposals turned over quicker. And sure enough, yeah, they all went out today. I have no problem calling somebody's dick to the carpet. Sure.
• 1:00:13
Speaker A: But that, like, matters. Like, that's. That's like an active criticism happening to you in the moment. It affects your job. All this stuff sitting there. Like, I almost don't have time to process it before the conversation moves on to something else. And it's a friendly conversation, you know, so I'm not on the Offensive.
• 1:00:34
  Speaker B: I don't care.
• 1:00:34
Speaker A: No, no. I'm just. I'm just not in that mode. Like, if I'm just having a cigar with someone, I'm not. I'm not in the mode of, like, attacking their logic all the time. And so it just, like, by the time I even had the thought of, like. It's kind of crazy for you, of all people to say what you just said, like, the moment the moment was passed.
• 1:00:56
Speaker B: Hold up. Did you just say this? Just hit me five minutes ago. Did you just say that Covid was a joke?
• 1:01:04
  Speaker A: Yeah, sure.
• 1:01:05
Speaker B: You were, like, all pissed off that I wasn't masked up, and here you are, like, it's a joke.
• 1:01:11
Speaker A: You see, you're saying it.
• 1:01:12
Speaker B: That's how I would have tacted.
• 1:01:14
  Speaker A: You're saying, I know.
• 1:01:14
Speaker B: That's what I'm going to call him.
• 1:01:16
Speaker A: I don't know if I could be that friendly about it. I also don't want to ruin.
• 1:01:22
  Speaker B: Laugh about it.
• 1:01:22
Speaker A: I'm not ruining cigar night. Because if I get on that topic, not only is everyone going to roll their eyes like, oh, this shit again. But, like, I don't know if I'm going to be able to keep my composure if we really go there, you know?
• 1:01:34
Speaker B: Oh, see, yeah, you get too worked up over shit. Then I laugh about it like I would right now. And if he was like, well, you know, I'd be like, hey, I don't want to make it a thing. Just bringing it up. This is very. Yeah, the way he was acting five years ago was nuts, bro.
• 1:01:54
Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, I don't. I don't know. This is definitely a trigger for me because of everything that happened. And I think I should work on that. I think that's part of what I'm thinking about right now is like, how. How do I get past this to the point where I'm not getting pissed off every time I think about it, because it's just crazy to have that kind of cancer in your body. But, you know, like, it. It's. I forgot where I was going with that.
• 1:02:20
  Speaker B: Fuck.
• 1:02:22
Speaker A: I just. I just blacked out in the middle of my own sentence. But, like, I'm. Yeah, I'm not, like, gonna try to get on a topic that. That works me up that much. And I. I don't know if. If I'm challenged. I don't know if I can drop it, you know?
• 1:02:41
  Speaker B: Yeah.
• 1:02:42
  Speaker A: I don't know.
• 1:02:43
Speaker B: Hey, I'm gonna. I'm gonna play part of Fauci's testimony. By the way, he got his Ass. Ripped by several senators, which I thought was awesome.
• 1:02:55
Speaker A: I saw clips. I liked that. But then I hated that he wouldn't say anything.
• 1:03:00
Speaker B: All right, so. Seven years. I. I plead the Fifth, sir, will you tell us about the cartels you
• 1:03:12
Speaker A: dealt with in your time as a crack cocaine dealer?
• 1:03:16
Speaker B: No, but I can tell you that I plead the physio.
• 1:03:19
Speaker A: Exactly how much money did you earn
• 1:03:21
Speaker B: in your time as a crack cocaine dealer?
• 1:03:30
Speaker A: Many amendments in the Constitution of the
• 1:03:34
Speaker B: United States of America. I can only choose one. I can only choose one. I plead the Fifth.
• 1:03:50
Speaker A: I plead the Fifth.
• 1:03:53
Speaker B: Five. One, two, three, four. Fear anything you say.
• 1:04:00
Speaker A: Go ahead and ask me a question. You.
• 1:04:03
Speaker B: I have a secret document that I think you need to say. Good afternoon.
• 1:04:17
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 1:04:18
  Speaker B: Yeah.
• 1:04:19
  Speaker A: And unless.
• 1:04:21
  Speaker B: What's that?
• 1:04:22
  Speaker A: He's pardoned.
• 1:04:23
Speaker B: He. I know the amendments, don't they. He doesn't have the privileges anymore. He. They've reminded him several times. Dude.
• 1:04:32
Speaker A: Well, he has to test, like, he has to answer the questions. It is. It is. It's not a typical courtroom situation where he can just plead the Fifth. Like, this is a Congress hearing. He has to answer the questions, but he. He will not face repercussions. He has a pardon from the President, United States.
• 1:04:53
Speaker B: I know they threatened. I'm not sure if they removed, but they threatened one of his lawyers. They removed him because they did remove him.
• 1:05:01
  Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah.
• 1:05:01
Speaker B: Because he was like. Well, he's like, dude, you weren't even supposed to sit right there, but you wanted to.
• 1:05:08
Speaker A: Yeah, he ran. Paul called security and had him removed. I do. I do want to get back to the topic, because I think it's a good one.
• 1:05:18
Speaker B: All right, well, the power of his word. The fifth. Yeah.
• 1:05:23
Speaker A: But actually, it's not unrelated. It's like, it was a situation in our country that was brought about by words. And I watched a couple compilations on YouTube today. Tom Elliot makes these amazing compilations where he'll show, like, a super cut of the news saying the same thing over and over and over again, and then, like, how the message changes and, like, you know, Biden, sharp as attack. Sharp as attack. Sharp as attack. I've never seen a president that's sharp as attack. Like, this Biden is sharp as attack. And it's just on and on and on. And then, like, the next day, he's got to step down. He's got to step aside. He's got to see, you know, he's just great. So I watched a few about COVID and it was just like, they used the same exact words. It's a Pandemic of the unvaccinated. Blame the unvaccinated. The unvaccinated are the reason this is happening. All the. It just really goes to show because, I mean, there was no science behind this. It was strictly certain people got on a screen and said certain things and the world imploded.
• 1:06:39
Speaker B: For sure. For sure. So do you think words shape our thinking?
• 1:06:50
Speaker A: I think our thinking is made of words.
• 1:06:55
Speaker B: You don't think words shape it though?
• 1:06:57
Speaker A: Yeah, I think they do form. That's the purpose of the blog I was, I was reading you. Is that if they get out and say the right words, you'll start to make, you'll start to get a telekinetic thing in your head. You know, they're sending you a signal.
• 1:07:12
Speaker B: Yeah. So science says repeated self talk strengthens, strengthens neural pathways. So again, neuroplastic plasticity. And the brain begins believing what it repeatedly hears. This is why I think Mormons got an issue. Biblically. Yes, the heart influences the tongue and the tongue reinforces what fills the heart. Believers are instructed to take every thought captive. Culturally, yes. Positive affirmations and speaking life are believed to shape one's mindset and future. The takeaway? Everyone agrees your words influence your thinking. Science explains how, scripture explains why and. And culture often extends the idea into manifestation.
• 1:08:04
  Speaker A: Yep.
• 1:08:05
Speaker B: Okay. Completely. Let's see. Okay. I did some research. Do words affect our emotions? What is your guess?
• 1:08:20
  Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely.
• 1:08:22
Speaker B: Okay, so I have three categories. Scientific, biblical and cultural.
• 1:08:26
  Speaker A: Okay.
• 1:08:26
Speaker B: Okay. Yes. Negative language increases stress and anxiety, while constructive language promotes emotional regulation. That's scientific. Biblical, yes. Encouraging words strengthen people. Harsh words wound deeply. Proverbs 12:18. Cultural. Yes. Many believe speaking negatively attracts negative, negative emotions and experiences. The example used here is. I can't handle this. Science increases the stress response. The Bible may reflect fear or discouragement. Culture. Some believe you're inviting more hardship. I mean, it kind of goes back to last week's topic when the guy was saying, and this was more of his thought, his mindset, because again, it was on the mindset. But he went in to say like, so we think, or what we think is how we live or whatever. But he went back to, he was saying at one point that sometimes we start off in the defense when we're like, oh my gosh, what if this happens? What if I can't do this? What if this, you know, event doesn't take place ins. And, and we're constantly on like, the defense, you know, we're constantly like, trying to make sure certain things don't happen. Where if we go in and we're like, yeah, we got this. And you know that's, that's kind of how I talk to stretch marks. Like when things happen, I'm like, this is what we do, baby. Like, like we do hard. Like when gets crazy, this is what we do. You ready for it? You know, it, it reminds me of
• 1:10:19
Speaker A: a quote and I, I, I think Epicus said it, I don't remember who, but if you suffer before it's necessary, you suffer more than necessary. And so essentially like worrying about something or having negative selft talk about something before you it even comes to pass is just heaping on the misery. It's going to be bad enough if it happens, deal with it when it happens, you know, like, don't waste the time leading up to it.
• 1:10:49
Speaker B: No, I like that actually. I'm going to, I'm going to use that sometime. So do, do you think words, do you think they shape your identity?
• 1:11:04
Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. I mean if, if it's true that what you hear over and over again begins to influence what you believe, then it would, it would make sense that it influences what you believe about yourself.
• 1:11:23
Speaker B: Yes. Okay. So, so as you start talking, I started thinking about Carol Dweck's book the Mindset Fixed Mindset People. And, and I thought about this because like I, I went through a marriage where somebody would call me an SOB or, or you know, my dad, you know, you're just like your father, you know, and I believed it and it was just like scientifically it says yes, labels become beliefs through repetition and social reinforcement. And don't get me wrong, I called big country stupid and dumb for years because I think she is. Oh, is that why? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So and so she often would get anxiety in, at work situations and in front of people that kind of had a position or a career because she was like, like I don't, I don't, I think I'm dumb. I don't want them to think I'm, I know I'm dumb. I don't want them to think I'm dumb. Like, I don't want them to know I'm dumb. I'd always say, too late, sweetheart. So the do words shape identity? Biblically, yes. God gives people new identities and believers are called to speak truth rather than lies about themselves. Culturally, it's also a yes. Positive affirmations are believed to create a new identity. Example used here is I'm worthless science. It reinforces your low self esteem. Bible contradicts the value God places on people. Made in his image. Cultural encourages replacing it with positive affirmations.
• 1:13:12
Speaker A: Can affirmations work if you don't believe them?
• 1:13:17
Speaker B: No, I think that's got to be part of it. I think you got to have some belief in it, you know, and actually some of the. So let's see, I get into it in a. In further on down. But the nocebo effect, they've. They've done case studies where they've taken, you know, a bunch of people, they took half of them, and they said, hey, here's the side effects. This, this, this, this, this, and this. Those people reported actual actually feeling those side effects.
• 1:14:00
  Speaker A: Mm.
• 1:14:03
Speaker B: Almost all of them compared to the couple that were in the group that did not know about the side effects. And so. And we'll just get into it before I go on to the next one. But talking about yourself shapes your own state. So the nocebo effect, plus self fulfilling prophecy, negative expectation produces real measurable symptoms. This is the cousin or the sister, the brother, whatever you want to call it, to placebo or placebo, whatever it is. And then the Bible says you eat the fruit of the tongue. That's Proverbs 18:21. You tend to live out what you keep speaking over yourself. Folk nocebo speak it into existence, pointed at bad states. Naming exhaustion. Naming exhaustion. Exhaustion reinforces it. So when you say like, oh, I'm dead tired, it just reinforces the fact that you're dead tired.
• 1:15:08
  Speaker A: What
• 1:15:10
Speaker B: like the example was like, I'm dead tired.
• 1:15:13
  Speaker A: Right.
• 1:15:13
Speaker B: Culturally, it says naming exhaustion reinforces it. That's kind of what the culture believes. Do you think words, and I'm not even gonna ask this, but words do influence behavior. Yeah, Yeah.
• 1:15:28
Speaker A: I mean, the same way that they do everything else we've talked about. Yeah.
• 1:15:33
Speaker B: And this is kind of with the nocebo effect. Like expectations influence performance. That's scientific. Self fulfilling prophecy, if you will. Biblically, yes. Wise speech leads towards wisdom, while foolish speech often leads to destruction. Culturally, positive declarations are believed to produce successful actions, outcomes. And the example uses I'll never lose weight science. It lowers motivation and persistence. Bible reflects discouragement. Perseverance is encouraged. Culturally, some say you've spoken failure over yourself. Now, I mean, like, some of these are like, do words affect other people? We would all know that they do. Can words affect physical health? That's a good one.
• 1:16:28
Speaker A: I think it's pretty much proven at this point. Yeah.
• 1:16:32
Speaker B: Yeah. Science says indirectly, chronic negative thinking increases stress hormones, poor sleep, inflammation, and unhealthy habits. Yeah, you hear that? Chronic negative thinking Increases those things.
• 1:16:44
Speaker A: Yeah, well, it almost. It almost makes sense. Like I've. Because I've heard people say cancer too. Like, if you really think you're going to get cancer, you, you, you have a better chance of getting it. I don't know if there's science to that, but cancer is like just blank cells generating as cancer cells instead of healthy cells. And your brain is doing all that. So, like, it's not crazy to think that your brain could just start generating cancer cells in. If you believe enough that you're gonna get cancer.
• 1:17:23
  Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know.
• 1:17:26
  Speaker A: I. Around.
• 1:17:30
Speaker B: I do. I do believe that for sure. Let's see. So. 1987, Freddie Mercury found out he had aids.
• 1:17:50
Speaker A: Was it that early?
• 1:17:52
Speaker B: Yeah, that's what it says. He didn't tell anybody, though. Four years later, Magic Johnson finds out he has aids. He announced it that same year. I don't know if Freddie Mercury ever announced it.
• 1:18:13
Speaker A: I don't think anyone knew until he died. Yes, I know, I know. I'm trying to remember when he. When they did Live Aid, he either didn't know yet or he knew and none of the band knew.
• 1:18:33
Speaker B: He didn't share it with his band members until 1989. Okay, he didn't.
• 1:18:40
Speaker A: Was it Live Aid in the 90s, though?
• 1:18:45
Speaker B: It probably was, but I mean, huh.
• 1:18:47
Speaker A: I must have been wrong.
• 1:18:51
Speaker B: So Magic Johnson announced his. November 7, 1991. He was diagnosed in October 1991. So he waited one month and was like, hey, I'm telling everybody. Freddie Mercury found out in 1987. Didn't publicly announce it until 1991. November 23rd. Two days. I'm sorry. Sixteen days after. Two weeks after magic Johnson announced it. Publicly announced his. And then when did Freddie Mercury die?
• 1:19:35
  Speaker A: 91, I believe
• 1:19:38
Speaker B: November 24th. The day after day after he publicly announced it.
• 1:19:46
  Speaker A: Whoa.
• 1:19:48
Speaker B: It's a trip, huh? Most I've heard that if he would have told people earlier, he probably had a better chance at fighting it because he would have been more open about treatment or he would also have the support. I mean, like, he went, what, Four years of living in shame and fear, you know, that he got the disease that gay guys get from monkeys. Dude, I'm. That's what I heard. That's what I heard when I grew up.
• 1:20:25
Speaker A: He was also like a recluse the last couple years of his life. Maybe because of that. And that. That's not good for your health either. Could have been.
• 1:20:34
Speaker B: Well, that's what, that's. That's what they're saying. Like, the dude didn't really. He took a turn where he like went recluse instead of being more open where, like magic was out about it. A month later, this is what happened. And, you know, there was like a different response. So the Bible says, and the Bible and science both say words can affect physical health indirectly. So like Proverbs says a cheerful heart is good medicine, emphasizing the connection between inner disposition and well being. Culturally, they often say, yes. Many believe negative words directly cause illness or positive words directly produce healing.
• 1:21:24
Speaker A: I thought about this when Scott Adams died because he was a big like, law of attraction guy and he died of cancer. And I had to think that he was doing a lot of positive affirmations about healing and stuff in the last, you know, however long he dealt with that, but also just like a very healthy guy in general. And it struck me kind of maybe not funny, but odd when that happened. And it was like, I wonder if he ever started to doubt that when, you know, like right at the end.
• 1:22:13
Speaker B: Do you think words can create reality?
• 1:22:17
Speaker A: Sort of in the sense that we were already talking about, you know, if.
• 1:22:22
Speaker B: Okay, so I'm on that same page. Science says there's no evidence. The Bible says only God creates reality by speaking culturally. Says frequently, yes, manifestation, speaking it into existence and. And the universe is listening are common ideas. I think it creates reality in this sense. I want to create the world's smallest computer. I have now spoken it and that is going to be my reality for the next two, five, six, seven years.
• 1:23:02
  Speaker A: Mm.
• 1:23:04
Speaker B: So I think in that sense I don't believe in the. But again, I almost think it does. Because if your reality is spiritual significance or changing someone else's life, you know, like I was talking to a girl. So every time I call Miami, I say, okay, G, call Miami. And then so I actually do call her Miami. And it is also then followed by her real name. And so I'll say, okay, G, call Miami such and such. Well, it kept saying such and such from CTs. And I'm like, no, this is only one date. It's the only date's ever done it. I said, no. So then I get pick up my phone, I call her, we talk, I go do this meeting, I'm leaving the meeting, say the same thing, okay, G. G being Google. Okay, G, call Miami such and such. I said, do you mean do you want to call Such and such CTs? And I said, no. So you know what I do, I do want to call her. So I call her, she answers, she goes, hello. And I'm like, hey, is this such and such. She said, yeah. I said, I don't know if you remember, but you were like, your firm was the firm that designed the surf park that I built. And I was like. I told her the story, kept trying to call my lady. This is what it did. I said it. And I didn't know if it was one of those instances where, like, you just needed someone to tell you you're doing a good job or if you needed prayer. I just wanted to be sensitive to, like, what I felt the spirit was, like, trying to show me. And I said, so I'm not sure, but I wanted to be obedient to it. She goes, oh, you know what? And I didn't. I don't know this lady. Like, I only met her once. She goes, you know what? I think I remember you. She goes, I think you told me once I smelled really good. And I was like, I'll tell you right now, that's me. Because I tell everybody if I smell them, they smell good. I let them know, hey, you smell good. Because I want them know the money they're investing in their fragrances is paying off. And so she goes. She goes, I think about that all the time. Like, really? So, yeah, she's like, I. Oh, I. Like, I. I think about it all the time. How you told me I smelled. I smelled really good that day. I was like, oh, okay, cool. Like, right on. Taking someone, like, stretch marks who is constantly like, I'm gonna fuck this up. And I'm like, we're not doing that. We're not thinking like that. You got this. You got it. I think words can change other people's lives. Science says, says encouragement, coaching, criticism and abuse, all influence development and decision making. And then the Bible, of course, blessings, cursing, cursing, teaching, evangelism, encouragement, all. All happen through words. But let's look at that. So we got the. You could change people lives with words. You can affect physical health with words. You can affect other people. You can influence behavior. You could shape identity, you could affect your emotions, shape. Shape your thinking. So can words create reality? I think they can not in the sense of, like, there's going to be a million dollars right there and then it happens. But in the sense of, like, you affect every individual you engage with in some way through your. Your speaking.
• 1:26:55
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 1:26:56
Speaker B: So I do think it can indirectly shape reality.
• 1:27:02
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 1:27:02
  Speaker B: Create reality.
• 1:27:04
Speaker A: And, you know, not. Not to keep taking it back to politics, but the, you know, my philosophy of government in general is that it is an idea. It's only an idea that these Certain people have the right to rule over and control everyone else. You know, and it's mostly done by just repeating it over and over again. That's kind of what school's for. You just repeat these ideas over and over again. And then people, you know, take that into adulthood. And so, you know, when Someone refers to January 6th as the deadly insurrection, well, it was neither of those things. But suddenly people start getting arrested, people start getting tried. People spend, you know, years in prison without a trial. In some cases, you know, a reality is sprung from certain people using certain words, you know, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 1:28:07
Speaker B: Oh, for sure, dude. For sure.
• 1:28:08
Speaker A: I mean, lead a nation with a microphone. One microphone, one microphone, and I can split the something, something of a something, atom of a molecule.
• 1:28:26
Speaker B: Proverbs says you eat the fruit of the tongue. But naming a feeling. I didn't know this. You know, I bought. What's her name? Brown. She talks about vulnerability a lot. Brene Brown. You know what I'm talking about?
• 1:28:51
  Speaker A: Yes.
• 1:28:52
Speaker B: Yeah, she got real popular after her TED Talk, which I love, by the way. Her vulnerability, TED Talk, that was something. Listening to changed how I approach, like, how I engage with people. For sure. In a positive way. In a positive way. Naming a feeling calms it. Doesn't claim it calms it. Naming your feeling can calm you down. It's called effect labeling in science. And you've heard Name It, Claim It. This is Name it to tame It. Putting emotion into words lowers amygdala activity. Amygdala. Thanks.
• 1:29:39
  Speaker A: Great, great story.
• 1:29:40
  Speaker B: Text me that.
• 1:29:42
Speaker A: Sorry. Larry King's first broadcast as a news broadcaster. I believe it was in the 50s, 60s, long, long time ago. He goes on the air and he stares into the camera for about 20 seconds, completely silent. And the producers are about to cut away because they think, oh, this guy fucking. He clammed up and got nothing. He goes, ladies and gentlemen, this is my first broadcast and I'm very nervous. And then just goes into the news. And just as soon as he said it, he could just move on and do it, you know, And I, I learned that my dad told me that story. I've never fact checked it. I don't know if that's a real story, but that's what he told me. It was Larry King. And he told me that before, before I played live music one night. So I've kept that in mind for any time I have to speak publicly. I make a joke about how nerve wracking it is to speak, and then it just goes away. I just did it at AT T'S memorial. I was reading something on my phone and I, like, put it down on the pulpit, and I looked up and realized, like, oh, there's like five times as many people in. In the room as I thought there were. And so I just said it.
• 1:31:14
Speaker B: There's five times as many people in the rest of the place that there were in the first three rows where I sat.
• 1:31:21
Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, basically, yeah. Like, it was kind of. It was half empty when I walked in, and I wasn't looking around, but, like, even from where I was sitting, if I looked up, I couldn't, like, see the whole room, whatever. So I just. I was like, halfway through my quote, and I looked up at everyone and made eye contact with a few people I knew, and I just said, wow, you really don't realize how many people are in here until you're up here. And then everyone laughed and I went back to the quote, and I was fine after that. You know, it's like, it's crazy.
• 1:31:52
Speaker B: It reminds me of when you asked me something about being embarrassed a couple podcasts ago, and I was like, oh, I just kind of. Like, I said, oh, I was leaving a happy hour, and I threw. Which is the same happy hour. I met that chick that said I asked her to lunch. I said, I threw, like, the name tag off and I missed the trash can. I just kept walking. It's similar in that sense. Like, if I trip and I look around and someone saw me, I'm like, you know, and they're like. They look at me and I'm like, did you see that? Like, I almost lost my life. I just kind of, like, talk about yeah. And then. And then move on.
• 1:32:28
Speaker A: I'll say. I'll say the corny as shit, because I. I trip here and there. It's been known to happen, and I'll just be like, ah, first day with legs. Sorry, everyone. You know, I'll just say, like, the corniest thing. And it just. It just. It probably doesn't. No one else cares but me. But it makes me feel better.
• 1:32:46
Speaker B: So even if I trip, okay, So I live. I live with the. I'd say reality, but some people would say not reality. I live with the constant thought that whenever I'm not in my house and there's. Either I'm in public or there's. Maybe no one's outside, but there's, like, windows around. You know, there's buildings with windows and houses with windows. I live with the constant thought that I. At least three people are always looking at me. So even if I trip and no one's walking. I'm going to, like, shake my head, laugh, and be a little over with it, you know, I mean, like, instead of in my mind just being like, dumbass, I'm going to be like, oh, man, didn't look back. And you keep walking. Assuming someone just witnessed that through these windows, you know, you could, you could
• 1:33:49
Speaker A: just put your head down and walk away fast without moving your arms.
• 1:33:57
Speaker B: So where, where, where some of this gets really kind of magical thinking, if you will. Water crystals, water crystal claims like water crystal. The claims for water crystals are that it changes your DNA quantum energy.
• 1:34:15
Speaker A: Got to get me some of those.
• 1:34:16
Speaker B: It's unsupported and never replicated. It's been unsupported, never replicated. Biblically speaking, outcomes as a command over reality, contested as a distortion of the text. So, yeah, I think, and I have those other sections I read earlier, I'm not going to read them. Those are the questions because they're kind of obvious. But I mean, I mean, think about it. The first six days of creation, all of creation was done spoken.
• 1:34:51
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 1:34:53
Speaker B: We refer to Jesus as the Word. And so I don't think that's by accident. I think there's some. I think, I think what we speak, I think that's why James goes so strong on the tongue in his. In his letter, is because, yeah, I do think what we say has power. What we say affects people. What we say affects ourselves. The science backs it, Bible backs it. You know, again, science backs the Bible as well, so it only makes sense. But, yeah, that's kind of just what I've been dealing with the last couple weeks. It's been real big for me where I'm just trying to be more intentional with my words, you know, and. And I. It gets the best of me, probably in my anger, frustration. Like today number three was supposed to take number four to school. She had number four stayed home yesterday because number three slept in and forgot to take her. And then by time she woke up, school started. Number four asked if she could just stay home. I allowed it. So today, number four. Number four calls me and says, hey, are you. Are you picking me up? It's early release. I said, your sister should be there. She's like, I don't see her. So I'm like, fuck. I look, she's still home. So I'm like, I call her. She's like, oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry. I'm gonna go get her right now. I'm like, thank you. I hang up. And Stretch Marks is sitting across from me, and I said, what the fuck, dude? He goes, what? I go, dude, like, it's like, no one could do their fucking job, right? Like, no matter what I do, like, unless it's me, it's not gonna get done. I'm surrounded by a bunch of Stretch Marks. He was like, dude, that. I was like, nah, I'm. I kid because, you know, I don't want him. He does take that personal because he up a lot, you know? Like, he's gonna listen to this. He up a lot. You know, it's like, he'll. He'll put in. He'll put in something. I'm like, no, you know it. And I don't know. I don't know what it is. I don't know if he just, like, has. Man. I don't want to listen this. And then it's like, guy commits suicide after listening to podcast.
• 1:37:30
Speaker A: Let me. Let me. Let me cut in, because I think I'm probably on his level with this kind of stuff. I don't know what it is either. I don't know why I fucking forget everything. I can't, like. I just can't get anything together. I'm a smart guy. I'm capable. I remember things selectively. You know what I mean? And then I leave the fucking propane on for 18 hours. What the fuck is that? Why do I do something like that every single day? Am I just, like, not thinking? Thinking like, you know, I. I don't know. I don't know what it is.
• 1:38:07
Speaker B: That's crazy. See, for me, I don't hold on to small. So I use my Google assistant all day long. Yeah, if I'm like, hey, tomorrow I got to take out the trash. It takes one second to say, okay, G, Remind me tomorrow at 4pm take out the trash.
• 1:38:29
  Speaker A: Oh, dude.
• 1:38:29
Speaker B: And I don't commit it to memory.
• 1:38:30
Speaker A: I've got. I've got a task manager that rules my life. If it's not in there, it's not happening.
• 1:38:38
Speaker B: And then I do use this sort of system every day, which is why I got this beautiful, remarkable tablet. By the way, folks, this episode of Pseudonyms is brought to you by Remarkable.
• 1:38:51
Speaker A: And if you use promo code, Miami,
• 1:38:54
Speaker B: you, Miami, and butt stuff. Dude, we didn't even name each other tonight.
• 1:39:04
Speaker A: We didn't. I could be Stephen King since I brought up his quote.
• 1:39:17
Speaker B: Okay, all right, well, I would like to be Samuel Johnson. Dr. Samuel Johnson Johnson.
• 1:39:24
  Speaker A: I like it.
• 1:39:26
Speaker B: Dr. Johnson. You know, English writer, poet, porn name. You don't know my Porn names. What was that dude from Boogie Nights?
• 1:39:39
  Speaker A: Mark Wahlberg.
• 1:39:41
Speaker B: Yeah, but what was he like? Dirk. Dirk Diggler.
• 1:39:45
Speaker A: Oh, I've never seen it. I don't know.
• 1:39:47
Speaker B: I think it's Dirk Diggler. Yeah. My poor name's Warm Wiggler. Paying homage. Paying homage to him. But this is what my. My tablet looks like. So every day it's like, all, like. They'll come in and be like, hey, you know, later today, we got this, this, this, or we got to do this, or you got. And I just. Dude, I pull up my tablet, and I'm like, I do a. A minus sign. Then the. The. The. The thing I got to do. Drop a couple lines, I do another minus sign. The next thing I got to do those lines in between. And I write everything in red. That is a task. And then my notes are in blue, so it's like, oh, call. Call Stephen King. And if you don't answer, I put a little. Little bullet point. I said left voicemail, date and time. Then I move on. That minus sign, though, stays a minus until that task is done. Then it becomes a plus sign. And so that's kind of. I live and, like, breed like that, like, everything with my job. And it saved my ass because then I could go back and be like, they'll ask something, and I'll go back and be like, oh, oh, I remember that. It's like when you read your Bible. You have that one Bible you read, and. And you're like, I don't know the verse, but I know it's on the top right corner of the right page somewhere, and I've highlighted it. And it's like that. Where I'm like, ooh, I. I know what you're saying. I remember writing that. Let me. Let me just skim through real quick and see what page stands out to me, you know?
• 1:41:24
Speaker A: Yeah, I used to. I had a similar system at work. I had a legal pad that I would just write everything I needed down, and then I would spend a lot of time reviewing it and making sure I understood what I was supposed to do, following up with people, asking questions if I didn't understand something. So I kind of, like, got to master that. I've just never had a system like that for my regular life, which is why I just, like, will do the dumbest things, and I'm probably making it out to be worse than it is. It's not like I do something like that every day, but it's. It certainly seems to come in waves.
• 1:42:04
Speaker B: That's why for my regular Life. I use a lot of my Google assistant, you know, like even today I have to, I have to, I had to. Friday, I have to take a radio, a bump box. Sweet ass Bluetooth speaker. By the way, folks, if you use promo code Shakespeare at bump box, you will get no discount. And so I have to drop it off like an hour away from here. And I was like, shit, it's in my garage. I'm gonna get home, I'm gonna go through my regular routine of just getting out of the car, grab my bag and going upstairs. So I get off work at 1. So I said, okay, okay, G. Remind me at 1:10pm to take the radio and put it in my truck. And I, that's it. I commit it. I move on. I free up fucking so much shit in my head.
• 1:43:03
Speaker A: That stuff's not a problem. Like tasks I need to do. I've got that locked down because I've, like I said, I've got to do list literally everything. Whether it's a note I want to make in my journal later or a story idea or a chore, it all goes in there and it's out of my head until I have time to look at my list and choose a thing to do. It's just the little things, like fucking finished unloading the dishwasher and just left it open. You know, it's just stuff like that. Like there's no system for that stuff.
• 1:43:34
Speaker B: You know, the system is okay for shit like that. I think that's where I could thank my ocd. I don't. Like out of place. Yeah, like out of place. Like I'm re doing my desk tomorrow because it's got too much on it. So like tonight I took everything off the desk except for my laptop and put it all in certain piles. This goes back on the desk. This can be filed into folders. And so, yeah, like I need organization. And so like the dishwasher staying open would bug the out of me. Yeah, the propane, I can see there are times, there's been a couple times I left on the oven because you simply pull it out, you take it, you take it to where you got to do the rest of the work and you forget that you left that shit off.
• 1:44:31
Speaker A: Yeah, I do that all the time. So that I like, what's the system for that? You know, like if I need to take a thing to a place tomorrow, I'll put it in the car. So I just can't forget it.
• 1:44:43
  Speaker B: Yep.
• 1:44:43
  Speaker A: But like.
• 1:44:44
Speaker B: So that's the system for you.
• 1:44:45
Speaker A: Yeah, but like the Things in the moment, it's, it's always the in the moment. Things that are not like a major task or something, that's the fuck up. Because I don't have a system for that.
• 1:44:58
Speaker B: You do, but you just don't. Like, that's where I would use my assistant and be like, okay, G, remind me in five minutes to turn off the oven. Or okay, G. And, and these are the, these are notifications that pop up on my phone. They don't get removed until I mark them. Right. So again, for me, I don't like notifications on my phone.
• 1:45:21
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 1:45:21
Speaker B: And when I look at my phone and I see that I have a little notification at the top, I'm like, oh, what? What is it? If it's a little envelope, I know it's an email, but if it's a little check mark, I know there's a to do with that. What did I tell myself? And so I just look at it and it bugs me until I get it off. So it, it kind of forces me to do it.
• 1:45:40
Speaker A: Yeah, I get that. It's just you'd have to remember that you might leave the oven on. You know what I mean?
• 1:45:47
Speaker B: Well, no, that's what I'm saying. Like, the oven's going to probably be pre, preheating and cooking for at least a half hour, 20 minutes. Within that 20 minutes, I'm probably going to look at the oven a couple times, be like, I always leave it on or whatever. Something's going to remind me within that 20 minutes, plus the preheat time that I need to turn it off. And that's a good time. If it takes less than two minutes, do it now.
• 1:46:17
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 1:46:18
Speaker B: You know, and that's the time where I'm like, hey, remind me. Boom. In. Well, it's got to cook for 20 minutes. Remind me in 22 minutes, turn off the oven. But I do that with everything. And if I have a problem with it because I've switched, I've done, I've changed how I've done the oven. Now, now when I take it out, I hit off right away.
• 1:46:42
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 1:46:42
Speaker B: I open the door.
• 1:46:43
Speaker A: That's what I do. Yeah. I've just made that a habit.
• 1:46:45
Speaker B: I head off. But yeah, so it's, it's, it's trying to find those things and saying, okay, like, how. What can I do to change this? And then thinking about it, you know, I'm gonna use the oven. I walk through almost every step, and I think that's why I'm successful as a superintendent, because I walk Through. Okay, like if we're gonna build this wall, where would I start? Okay, now what's step two? Okay, now what's step three? Okay, now what's step four? And you know, even on our like job walks, I'll be like, well, no, no, no, no. You're saying this, but like you have to think we have to do this step first. So do I have to wait for that to happen before this happens? Well, no, we're not gonna. Okay. Okay, well, let's keep moving them. But I'll constantly have to go through. I want to go through the steps to make sure everything is legit.
• 1:47:34
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you were saying about stretch marks. You. He carries that with him?
• 1:47:46
Speaker B: He kind of does, dude. And it's, it's. And I think he's aware of it. It's just small. Where he's like. Like today I was like, hey, did you print all that? All the, all the paper we do, like all the forms we do in the morning. He's like, oh, no, I thought you do that on Fridays. You know, I do it every day. I do them. Oh, okay. It's, it's just, it's some of, it's just like the small stuff. Like he installed two anchor points, which is what people would put their fall protection, their fall arrest protection on. Like they hook it on so they don't fall. If they fall off the edge, they get caught, you know. And I said, hey, it's a, you know, it's a pretty easy task. You know, we walked it. Walked it with the sub. Is this what you're gonna do? So he's like, alright, cool. So he, they install the anchor points and they install one going north and west, I'm sorry, north and south, the other one going east and west. And the client comes up and he's like, this is today. The client comes up and he goes, hey, why did you guys install them in two different directions? And I'm like, what you mean? He's like, well, you know, like they're two different directions. So I call him. I'm like, why'd you install them in two different directions? And I went up and I looked and he's like, I wasn't. I'm like, that's what, that's what you need to do though. Like that. This is all this is on you. Like you're in charge of that project. You signed off on it. That's our work. I said, you know, I'm like, it, you know, and I get that because it's kind of like, well, doesn't really make a big deal. I get that it's more of preference, so I totally understand that. It's just like the small stuff when I'm like, hey, go print this. And he comes back with like, letter paper. And I'm like, can you read that? What made you fucking think I could read that? You know what I mean? It's like. It's like these are blueprints that are supposed to be printed on like 3 foot by 4 foot paper plotter and. Yeah, a plotter. Exactly. And you have an option of. Of 11 by 17 or 8 and a half by 11. You chose the 8 and a half by 11.
• 1:49:55
Speaker A: It wasn't even the large. It wasn't even the larger of the two.
• 1:49:59
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm like, I could barely read it on 11 by 17, but they travel better, you know, than. Than 3 by 4 paper, you know? Like, what. What the. What I'm not understanding. Oh, you know, it's. I don't know, man. I. I don't know. I love the kid to death, but I'm like, dude, like some of this stuff, like, how. How do you keep forgetting this, bro?
• 1:50:19
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 1:50:21
Speaker B: And he wants a raise now. I'm like, dude, you've had two. You've had two raises in the last year. I've had none. Only you and Anthony. And Anthony's a whiny bitch. Only you and Anthony have. Have had raises. Like, no one else has gotten a raise in the last year. But you guys keep going and asking for more money like you're not doing the heavy lifting. And on top of it, he asked me and my counterpart to ask the owner for him. Hey, could you guys ask if I get some more money? Why don't you fucking go ask if you could get more money? Why do. Why would I ask? You should go fucking ask if you could get more money. Trying to see if I get larger like you did. Yeah, I don't know, man. Yeah, but I love the kid. I just. I just don't. Some of the things I don't. Not quite understanding, you know?
• 1:51:16
Speaker A: Yeah, well, positive affirmations for him from now on.
• 1:51:22
Speaker B: Yeah. On a different note, I think mine and Miami's relationship has changed for the better.
• 1:51:34
  Speaker A: Okay.
• 1:51:36
  Speaker B: Since Newport.
• 1:51:37
  Speaker A: Good. How so?
• 1:51:40
Speaker B: Well, we were always, like, skeptical about sleeping in the same room in front of the kids, but in Newport, it forced it, you know, two to a room. And so, like, after Newport, her son didn't care if I came over and spent the night. You know, she still won't really come Here. But, like, it's just changed where it's like, oh, okay, so, like, if that's the case, like, you know, number four has spent the night at her house and I've slept in the room, you know, and it wasn't like a weird thing, you know? Yeah. I don't know.
• 1:52:22
Speaker A: You guys talked any more about getting married.
• 1:52:28
Speaker B: We might do, like, a celebration of our commitments to one another, but that's about it. We don't, we don't want to legally get married. Everything we have is for our kids.
• 1:52:42
  Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah.
• 1:52:44
Speaker B: So we'll, we'll operate as a married couple after our, you know, commitment celebration, but legally, no.
• 1:52:52
  Speaker A: Okay.
• 1:52:53
Speaker B: Like, if this doesn't work out, I'm not going spending money to break up with your ass. We're done.
• 1:52:58
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 1:52:59
Speaker B: Like, we're just. I, I'm not doing that.
• 1:53:01
Speaker A: Yeah. And if you're going to go through the trouble of a prenup, what's the point of that? Like, just don't do the thing.
• 1:53:09
Speaker B: Yeah. That's kind of how I feel about it. It's like everything that I've worked for, everything I've done and sacrificed, I've done for my daughters. They're my driving, driving force. I'm not giving you half of that, nor do I expect you to give me half of what you, you've sacrificed and worked hard for to leave to your son. You know, I'm not going to come in and be like, well, he had a house, now he's got 20% of a house. You know what I mean?
• 1:53:39
Speaker A: Now he's bunking up with his stepdad.
• 1:53:43
Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. I used to bang your mom right here. You know what I mean?
• 1:53:47
Speaker A: God rest her soul.
• 1:53:50
Speaker B: Yeah. So that, that's kind of like my thought behind it. But it has gotten better. Like, I think a part of me is kind of like, okay, you know, we're, we're gonna be together. I don't know if it was just. I don't know, man. I don't know.
• 1:54:06
Speaker A: You were going through some weird things for a minute.
• 1:54:10
Speaker B: Yeah. I don't know if it's, I know it's not cold feet, but part of me is kind of like, I, I, I'm selfish with my time, you know? And when a female also gets like, oh, I need your time. Stop, just stop. Like, I don't know, my daughter's first, then me, then you.
• 1:54:33
Speaker A: Yeah. Little me time. Well, my parents want their room back. It's 11 o'. Clock.
• 1:54:43
Speaker B: Oh, my God. Gosh, those.
• 1:54:45
Speaker A: It was nice doing it in Here, though. There's this nice desk, and it's a big, empty room. I'm, like, far from everyone. No one's hearing me. Pretty sweet situation.
• 1:54:55
Speaker B: Are you in their room?
• 1:54:56
Speaker A: I'm in their room. It smells.
• 1:55:02
Speaker B: Are they asking for it?
• 1:55:03
Speaker A: Yeah, they've been in and out a couple times giving me the eye, so I told them 90 minutes. I guess that's my fault. I should have. I should have said three hours. And then could. I had as much time as we.
• 1:55:17
Speaker B: Yeah, we're going on two, so. All right, brother, well, I love you. I hope you have a blessed week. Give your little one a hug for me. Tell the wife I said hi.
• 1:55:26
Speaker A: I will. Hey, did she really text you?
• 1:55:28
  Speaker B: Keep it warm.
• 1:55:30
  Speaker A: My wife?
• 1:55:32
Speaker B: Yeah, I told you that.
• 1:55:33
Speaker A: No, Ed, you know what? I keep forgetting to ask her because I never gave her your number or anything. And I keep meaning to ask her, like, how the heck. And why. And it just.
• 1:55:45
Speaker B: Yeah, we're connected on. On Instagram and everything.
• 1:55:48
Speaker A: So out of character for her to send a text like that.
• 1:55:54
Speaker B: Then you might think it's out of character for some of the other text.
• 1:55:57
Speaker A: Yeah, she sent me. Yeah, it would be very out of character. All right.
• 1:56:05
Speaker B: No, she didn't text me. That was.
• 1:56:07
Speaker A: Oh, fuck, dude, that's hilarious. I literally was believing it until this moment.
• 1:56:13
Speaker B: Hey, your parents are gonna have to wait. Where are we at with Jimmy?
• 1:56:17
Speaker A: Oh, okay. Oh, that's right. We have to give an update on this. So was it last night or the night before?
• 1:56:25
Speaker B: It was the night before.
• 1:56:26
Speaker A: I was up till 1:30 and. Which is rare these days. And I. By the way, the reason I was up was because I was watching Widow's Bay for the second time. Loved that shit so much. I needed a reason.
• 1:56:46
  Speaker B: A movie.
• 1:56:46
Speaker A: It's a show on Apple tv.
• 1:56:49
  Speaker B: Okay.
• 1:56:49
Speaker A: Loved it so much. Needed a reason to watch it again. So I was like, mom, you gotta watch this show. And then. And then it was like, it's only one and this is the finale. Can we please just finish this show?
• 1:57:03
  Speaker B: What's it about?
• 1:57:04
Speaker A: It's. Without spoiling it, Haunted Island.
• 1:57:08
Speaker B: Okay, never mind. I'm good.
• 1:57:10
Speaker A: It's really good. All right, so I'm up late.
• 1:57:12
  Speaker B: What happened?
• 1:57:12
Speaker A: And I. I'm going into the bathroom to get ready to go to bed. And I open Instagram like I always do when I'm sitting on the toilet and Whose story is at the top of my thing.
• 1:57:24
Speaker B: I didn't even listen to it. I hate the fact that he even saw me click on it.
• 1:57:29
