- 0:13Anybody who comes will walk away with 123 things that they change
- 0:17in the business. You will learn something.
- 0:20The business will be better off. Why should you attend the Host
- 0:25Planet Roadshow? What's the latest on England's
- 0:28statutory registration scheme and what can you do to support
- 0:33the UK's holiday let sector? Andy Fenner from the Short Term
- 0:37Accommodation Association is the special guest on today's House
- 0:41Planet podcast, and he'll be answering all these questions
- 0:44and more on today's show. Andy, thank you for joining us
- 0:52on the House Planet podcast. We've got some exciting news to
- 0:56share. House Planet and the STAA are
- 0:58teaming up to deliver the House Planet Roadshow in 2026.
- 1:02We'll be visiting seven key locations throughout the year
- 1:06including Cornwall, Portsmouth, London, Nottingham, Bath,
- 1:09Chester and Edinburgh. How excited are you and what can
- 1:13people expect from these events? Yeah, it's going to be amazing.
- 1:17It's going to be brilliant to get out, get around the country
- 1:20and see some of the amazing things that UK tourism has to
- 1:23offer. I'm really looking forward to
- 1:26getting out there, hearing the stories of hosts, understanding
- 1:29the challenges that people have got on the ground and sharing
- 1:32what the SDAA and host planet can do for them to help people
- 1:37in their businesses. I was a host.
- 1:39I know it can be quite a lonely job sometimes.
- 1:42I was out there in South Wales running our own short term
- 1:46letting business and yeah, it's nice to know that somebody is
- 1:49coming out to our doorsteps and seeing people on the ground
- 1:53where they where they actually work.
- 1:56How important is it for us as an industry to get to people where
- 2:00they are? Because we do have quite a few
- 2:02events, but usually they're in London and it's difficult for
- 2:06property managers to maybe commit several days of a week to
- 2:09come and attend an event in London.
- 2:10So how important is it to to go to where the industry is?
- 2:14Yeah, I think it's really, really crucial that we do.
- 2:17And, and at the STA, it's something that, you know, we're
- 2:20really ramping up now. We spent a lot of time obviously
- 2:23with the change of government and the the general election,
- 2:25focusing on establishing the STAA is the national voice for
- 2:29the sector and making sure that the politicians were listening
- 2:33to our sector. But now we've got to to we've
- 2:36got to get out there and connect with businesses on the ground
- 2:39where they are getting, you know, as I said, I was a host.
- 2:42I understand that you can't just take five days off, go down on
- 2:47the train to London. It would be lovely.
- 2:49But somebody's got to be there. Someone's got to make the beds,
- 2:52change the sheets, check people in, fix the inevitable toilet
- 2:56breaks and everything else. You've got to be in your
- 2:58business. Having a business like we've got
- 3:02and something that we're getting across to politicians now, it's
- 3:06not just any old business. This is people's passion, it's
- 3:09your life. Tourism and short term rental
- 3:11tourism is completely immersive. It takes over everything you do.
- 3:16So yeah, you don't want to leave it.
- 3:17And we're also, and I was really proud of my business and the
- 3:22area where we were. And it's nice to think that
- 3:24people are actually going to come out and they're going to
- 3:26see it. When we're doing the roadshow,
- 3:29we're going to make sure it's the SGA team that we've gone out
- 3:32and seen as many of our members face to face, looked at their
- 3:35properties and talked to them when we're out there.
- 3:37And we're really looking forward to doing that.
- 3:39OK, real talk now for all you hosts out there, you know that
- 3:43moment when you guest messages you again with hey, what's the
- 3:47Wi-Fi code? Or you're staring at 5 different
- 3:49calendars wondering if you've accidentally double booked the
- 3:52cottage. Yes, we've all been there.
- 3:56That's why here at Houseplanner we recommend Housefully.
- 3:59It's basically your rentals control centre.
- 4:02It handles bookings across all the big platforms, syncs your
- 4:05calendars to ensure there are no double bookings, automates guest
- 4:09messages, and even creates these really slick digital guidebooks
- 4:13that stop all the repeat questions.
- 4:15Honestly, it just makes your life easier and keeps your
- 4:19guests happier, helping you achieve those all important five
- 4:23star reviews. And here is a little bonus.
- 4:26If you're a House Planet listener, you can get $500 off
- 4:29on boarding the House Fullies property management software and
- 4:3330% off digital guidebooks for life.
- 4:36Just hit the link in the show notes and and use the codes
- 4:39Planet 500 for the PMS and House Planet GB for the guide books.
- 4:45And if you'd like a proper walkthrough, there's also a link
- 4:48to book a demo with Frank Bosey from House Philly.
- 4:51He will show you how it's all works.
- 4:53Less stress, more bookings sorted with House Philly.
- 4:58For the hosts and property managers who come along.
- 5:01What are they going to get out of the experience, do you think?
- 5:06What are they going to get from being there?
- 5:07They're going to get to connect with the people, put a face
- 5:11behind the, the, the names of the companies, which is one of
- 5:14the crucial things when you are a small host.
- 5:18It's different when you're a large property manager, but when
- 5:21you're a small host, you, you're dealing with a computer all the
- 5:24time. You're not dealing with real
- 5:25people. And it's nice to do that so you
- 5:27can connect to people, you can talk to them, you can share your
- 5:30challenges, share your ideas. And the other thing that we're
- 5:33going to make sure we do is share our successes because
- 5:37we're not, you know, this isn't a selfish industry.
- 5:39This is a sharing industry. I do better when other people in
- 5:44the industry do better. We're not competing with each
- 5:47other. So we're going to share.
- 5:48We're going to educate. We're going to share good ideas,
- 5:51talk about bad ideas and how we get around them, and talk about
- 5:54how Host Planet and the SCA are working on a national level for
- 5:59people's businesses. Now when I go in there and see
- 6:03the tourism minister, the MP for this, that, you know, that's
- 6:05great, but I've got to be able to have those voices of real
- 6:10people, real owners in the back of my head because that's what
- 6:14we need to get across to people. The STAA isn't about my opinion,
- 6:19it's about all of our members opinions and the only way we get
- 6:21that is by doing things like this with Host Planet where
- 6:24we're connecting face to face. And having the STAA involved,
- 6:29one of the huge benefits from our side of these events is that
- 6:33you will be inviting politicians and lawmakers along to attend
- 6:38and and to potentially meet some of the people on the ground.
- 6:41How important are those conversations going to be?
- 6:44Yeah, they are really crucial. I think it's one of the, one of
- 6:49the big things I've learnt since I've been doing this job is that
- 6:52politicians, they have ideas. We all have opinions about
- 6:56politicians. But as a general rule, people
- 6:59get into politics, they get into being your local MP, that your
- 7:02local councillor, because they actually care.
- 7:05It's not the highest paid job in the world.
- 7:07They're doing it because they want to do something for their
- 7:09community. Now, if they're doing the wrong
- 7:12thing and they're not doing something which is benefiting
- 7:14tourism and STR tourism, they're not helping their community.
- 7:17A lot of the time, and it's something I've I've sort of
- 7:20realised since I've started doing this, is that politicians
- 7:23often just don't know. They just don't know that
- 7:26actually tourism and what we're doing is the heart of
- 7:28communities. Our businesses, our short term
- 7:31rental businesses are the businesses that bring people
- 7:34into our communities, into our villages, into our towns.
- 7:37They are the businesses that keep the pub going.
- 7:40They are the businesses that keep the local attractions
- 7:42going. If we don't have those, the pubs
- 7:46fail, the restaurants fail, villages die.
- 7:49And that's what we've got to talk to MPs and politicians
- 7:51about. And when an MP in a book or a
- 7:54counsellor, whoever it is, is talking to somebody face to face
- 7:58who runs a business in their constituents, they understand.
- 8:01They can make that real connection between the headline
- 8:05that they read in the paper about short term, let's holiday,
- 8:08let's this, this and this. And then they look at that
- 8:11person face to face and say oh, I didn't realise those two
- 8:14cottages down there were this. I didn't realise that your
- 8:16people were helping support the pub.
- 8:18I didn't realise this. When we make that real person
- 8:21connection, it changes opinions and the best people to do that
- 8:26are the owners and the hosts who are in those communities.
- 8:29And then what we need to do as the STA and host planet is make
- 8:33those connections, put our hosts in front of politicians and we
- 8:38will all do better. You mentioned it before that it
- 8:42can be a lonely job. If you're running a short term
- 8:45rental, you know the benefits of attending events and networking
- 8:49with your peers and learning from them.
- 8:51So how important is it that people actually come out and
- 8:54attend these events from that side so that they can learn from
- 8:57others? It's yeah.
- 8:59You can't stress enough how important it is.
- 9:03Actually, I had this conversation just yesterday with
- 9:05one of my colleagues that often in in small businesses, the one
- 9:09person who never gets trained is the person who owns the
- 9:11business. You send your staff on training,
- 9:14you send your people on training.
- 9:15You read this, you read that. You never do it yourself.
- 9:19You've got to get out there. And I really encourage any host
- 9:23who's watching to to make that effort come and meet us, meet
- 9:28James, meet the host planet team.
- 9:30You will learn something. Your business will be better
- 9:34off. You may come and you may think,
- 9:38right, what I'm doing is actually really good.
- 9:40You might. But at least then, you know, But
- 9:43I almost guarantee that anybody who comes will walk away with
- 9:47123 things that they change in the business that they think,
- 9:50oh, yeah, I could do that. Because one of the, you know,
- 9:53being a host, being running a small business is lonely.
- 9:57You're out there, you're dealing with your suppliers, you're
- 10:00dealing with your customers. It becomes overwhelming and it
- 10:03all gets on top of you. And this is a real opportunity
- 10:06just to take one day just to take a break, come and talk to
- 10:09people, get some understanding of, of the rest of, of the
- 10:13sector. You will learn.
- 10:14And I really, really encourage everybody to come along.
- 10:18Fantastic. Yeah.
- 10:19So we're very much looking forward to the roadshow.
- 10:22We have the STAA obviously involved as the strategic
- 10:26partner for the entire roadshow Price Labs of a title sponsor.
- 10:31We're also working with the women in short term rentals
- 10:33community as a delivery partner. Those events will be in Cornwall
- 10:39on the 5th of February. Our event partner There will be
- 10:41Beach Retreats will be in Portsmouth on the 4th of March
- 10:46with the Island Holiday Company and Just For You Holiday homes
- 10:49will be in London on the 23rd of April, Nottingham with Simply
- 10:54Owners on the 14th of September, in Bath with Curated Property on
- 10:59the 7th of October, Chester with Sykes Holiday Cottages on the
- 11:0310th of November and Edinburgh on the 3rd of December with
- 11:08Adore Scotland. If you get to our website,
- 11:10Houseplanet dot Club, there's a banner on there already.
- 11:14You can click through to the roadshow and if you want to book
- 11:17a ticket it is £40 for a ticket, so very reasonably priced and
- 11:22STAA members will get a 50% discount.
- 11:25So head on there now, grab your tickets and hopefully we'll see
- 11:28you at those events during 2026. Andy.
- 11:32Then onto lobbying matters. So what's keeping you busy at
- 11:36the moment? Yes.
- 11:40So right now the big, the big thing with us is the
- 11:44registration scheme in England. It's coming.
- 11:50We're not entirely sure when we think sort of the first quarter,
- 11:56early second quarter of 2026 that ties in really well with
- 12:01the start of the roadshows. We're going to be able to feed
- 12:05that information directly in. We actually just last night had
- 12:10another request from DCMS, from from the department in the
- 12:14government that controls tourism and the registration scheme for
- 12:17some more information and more help from us.
- 12:19And we're doing that. And I think that's one of the
- 12:22big things at the moment that we as the SDA have been focusing on
- 12:26is making sure that our sector is a partner that government can
- 12:32approach, talk to and deal with. We have found that you've got
- 12:39to, you've got to get your point across.
- 12:42You've got to tell them when they're doing something wrong.
- 12:44You've got to point that out. But you can only do that if
- 12:46you're listening to and that's I suppose that's the biggest issue
- 12:51that we've got at the moment across England, Wales, Scotland,
- 12:54Northern Ireland is getting our voice understood.
- 12:58When you do, when you get in front of politicians and you
- 13:02tell them about our sector, almost everybody actually likes,
- 13:06understands and appreciates it because has the headlines.
- 13:11What are we? We're a load of small businesses
- 13:14owned by local people who often live in the community that are
- 13:17supporting jobs and investment across rural areas.
- 13:20What's not to like? In terms of the registration
- 13:25scheme, is it a good thing for the sector and if so, why?
- 13:29Yeah, I think it is. We've actually been campaigning
- 13:31for it for, I mean years from 2017, the STA has been
- 13:36campaigning for registration. We should be registered.
- 13:41It makes our job easier. I mean, I had a conversation
- 13:45with a local council, I should remain unnamed, but a local
- 13:51council a while ago where they were insistent that there were
- 13:576000 holiday let's in their town.
- 14:01Myself and the property manager who was assisting us in in there
- 14:06in that town had the data that showed that there were less than
- 14:102000, There were about 1800. But the council believed they
- 14:15were right. We knew we were right.
- 14:18We knew what they were doing was looking at the entire county,
- 14:21not the actual town. But because we didn't have that
- 14:26definite data source, they can use facts to back up the
- 14:32argument that they want. And the argument that this
- 14:35council wanted is it's not our fault that there aren't enough
- 14:38houses being built. It's short term lettings fault
- 14:41there aren't enough houses. Now we know that's not true, but
- 14:45without that registration scheme, without that hard data,
- 14:49it's hard to justify and get them to change their minds.
- 14:52So that's one of the really good things.
- 14:54It's also going to help that we're going to know as an
- 14:57industry how many people are doing our running holiday let's
- 15:02in town A, town B, town C. So we can then reach out and we
- 15:06can help them and we can try to improve standards and we can
- 15:10improve our industry. If we know that we are, you
- 15:14know, let's say we're going to Portsmouth next year with the
- 15:17Host Planet Roadshow. If we knew there were, I don't
- 15:21know, 1000 short term let's in in Portsmouth, then we can
- 15:25contact them, we can talk to them, we can get them to come
- 15:27along to our educational sessions with Host Planet and
- 15:30that will improve our industry because at the end of the day,
- 15:33what we all want, we all work in tourism.
- 15:36We want people to have a good time.
- 15:37We want our industry to be better.
- 15:39I know that our industry is one of the best in the world and we
- 15:43need to get make sure that everybody's on that path to get
- 15:46their part of the business to be the best in the world and we
- 15:49will all do better. For the hosts and property
- 15:52managers out there who were a bit worried about registration,
- 15:55what are they going to have to provide?
- 15:57What's the info they're going to have to give to be part of this
- 15:59scheme? Yeah, we don't know is the
- 16:02honest answer to that. We're still in the process of
- 16:04working with the government to make sure that it's easy to use.
- 16:09We've been advocating for many years for a light touch, easy to
- 16:13use registration scheme. It's vital that this scheme is
- 16:17simple, doesn't require onerous details to be uploaded all over
- 16:21the place, and we are still working with that.
- 16:25If anybody has any inputs, anything they want to add in,
- 16:28they are more than welcome to e-mail us.
- 16:29We sent out a survey yesterday to all of our members and to
- 16:35everyone who's been to the Short Stay Summit asking them for
- 16:37their opinions because that's going to be fed back into DCMS.
- 16:41Encourage anybody to reply to that.
- 16:43If you didn't get that e-mail for any reason, you're more than
- 16:46welcome to e-mail and into info@uksdaa.org with any inputs
- 16:50that you've got into the registration scheme.
- 16:53At the moment, the government is listening to us and they're
- 16:56willing to work with us. In a few months time we'll be
- 16:59past that window. So if you have any inputs, I'd
- 17:02encourage anybody just send it in.
- 17:04We'll send it on to them. I can't promise you the
- 17:06government will listen, but I can promise you we'll we'll put
- 17:08it in front of them. We'll put that e-mail address in
- 17:11the show notes. OK, then.
- 17:13That's statutory registration. What else is on the agenda for
- 17:18the next year or so in terms of regulation?
- 17:22In terms of regulation, the government's constantly talking
- 17:25about planning. We've got the one in two days
- 17:27issues in Wales. What we are trying to ensure is
- 17:31that the government doesn't put day limit caps on our industry,
- 17:36that the government understands that that we don't have planning
- 17:41issues in our industry and we can only do that if we get the
- 17:45government to understand the benefits of our industry.
- 17:48And that feeds back to what we've said earlier on about
- 17:50getting in front of people and talking to them about the
- 17:52positive value of tourism. When they understand the
- 17:56positive value of of what we're doing as As for tourism and what
- 18:00we're doing for our local communities and the local
- 18:02villages, people stop trying to put these onerous rules and
- 18:07regulations on us because they understand that short term
- 18:11rentals are the economic driver across our rural and coastal
- 18:14communities. We've got to get them to
- 18:17understand that if we don't get out there and get in front of
- 18:21people, get in front of not just MPs.
- 18:24One of the key things is to get in front of counsellors and we
- 18:27encourage all of the members, anybody who's a short term
- 18:32rental host, to get in contact with your counsellor.
- 18:35We can help you with the letters, with the contacts, we
- 18:38can help you with getting in front of people.
- 18:41But talk to your local councillor, talk to them about
- 18:44what you do. Just send them an e-mail, ask
- 18:46them to come and see you in your business.
- 18:49I would like to show you around my short term rental business
- 18:52and talk to you about how many people stay with me.
- 18:54Talk to them about it. If you haven't talked to them
- 18:58and you haven't explained to them, they can't know.
- 19:01When you talk to them and explain to your local
- 19:03councillor, this is what I do, this is the benefits, they
- 19:07understand and that's one of the key things that we've got to get
- 19:11this change and it's something that we'll be talking about at
- 19:14the host. Planet Rd. shows that each of
- 19:16the hosts out there, everyone who runs their own business out
- 19:19there, works in short term rentals, is an ambassador for
- 19:22our industry. We don't have hundreds of people
- 19:25working in policy and lobbying in our industry like some other
- 19:28sectors do. We haven't got the resources to
- 19:31do that. But what we do have is hundreds
- 19:34of passionate people who run their own businesses, who love
- 19:38their businesses, who love what they're doing, and we've got to
- 19:41get that out there to these politicians and make them see
- 19:44and understand it. I'm sure there'll be house and
- 19:47property managers out there thinking of this.
- 19:49This really strikes a chord with me.
- 19:51I'd love to help more. Maybe they've already spoken to
- 19:54their local MP and councillor. If they do want to help more and
- 19:57maybe support the STAA, what are the benefits of doing that and
- 20:01and how can they do that? Yeah, the benefit of doing it,
- 20:06obviously we would, Anybody can speak to any, any counsellor
- 20:09they want. We would encourage hosts to drop
- 20:12us an e-mail 1st and we'll help them with that contact. .1 of
- 20:16the important things that we need to do as a sector is to
- 20:20work together. Everyone's business has
- 20:23different things and we have businesses that compete with us.
- 20:26We have businesses in our local communities that, you know that
- 20:29there are competition for this, that and the other.
- 20:31I understand that, but the one thing that we all have in common
- 20:35is the regulatory environment. What is good for for business A
- 20:39is good for business B. There is never going to be a law
- 20:42passed that says short term rental business A in store on
- 20:46the world is going to have this regulatory environment and short
- 20:50term rental business B in store on the world isn't That isn't
- 20:52going to happen. We all get the same.
- 20:55So we've all got to work together on this.
- 20:58Working together makes our voice stronger and we encourage any
- 21:02host to want to get in contact with the councillor, MP, drop us
- 21:06an e-mail, we'll find out who the person is you need to speak
- 21:09to. We'll find out what they've said
- 21:11about, you know, short term rentals.
- 21:13We can give you a little bit of information on it and then we
- 21:15can send you a pro forma e-mail that we'll send over because
- 21:19we're the national voice of the sector.
- 21:21We're the only association that works across all of the home
- 21:23nations. We can use that advantage to get
- 21:26that voice out there and make sure that they understand that,
- 21:30yes, Host A is a small local operator working in his
- 21:35community, but he's also part of this bigger ecosystem.
- 21:39He is a part of this organization and this this group
- 21:43with hundreds and hundreds of other people working together
- 21:47for the same goal. And that has impact with
- 21:49politicians. And if people want to join the
- 21:52SDAA, where do they go? How much does it cost?
- 21:56If they can go to a website it can cost you from as little as
- 21:59£15 a month to be a member of the SCAA.
- 22:02We would encourage anybody to to join if you can.
- 22:07If you can't join for any reason, drop an e-mail, let me
- 22:11know and we'll sort something out.
- 22:13We are here for the whole sector.
- 22:15We've got members from the large platforms, from
- 22:19airbnbexpediabooking.com to large property managers like
- 22:23sites, cottages, etcetera, and then down to individual hosts.
- 22:28We try to ensure that we never make anything that people can't.
- 22:32You know, there's never a reason why somebody can't join.
- 22:35So please join. If you have any issues with it,
- 22:38drop me an e-mail and we'll sort something out for you.
- 22:41You can e-mail into the info@uksdaa.org e-mail address.
- 22:46Anybody who's listening to this. Yes, please join.
- 22:49Support us, come to the the host Planet Rd.
- 22:52Shows next year. Meet us and you'll see what we
- 22:55can do for your sector, for your, for your business.
- 22:59Superb. OK then Andy, a couple of
- 23:00questions to finish. We like to do a shout out.
- 23:04Is there an individual in the industry you'd like to give a
- 23:06shout out to and why? An individual in in our sector
- 23:11is really, it's difficult because there are so many people
- 23:17in our sector because there are so many people running their own
- 23:21small businesses that are really passionate about them.
- 23:24I think at the moment the person who who goes over and above on
- 23:29everything is Diane Lloyd, who's running our events.
- 23:34She is the driving force behind the short stay Summit, managed
- 23:40to turn the short stay Summit into this amazing thing that
- 23:44it's now, you know, 1300 people come from all over the world and
- 23:48turn up. And one of the things I'm always
- 23:51surprised by is Diane and I will will sit in the mornings and
- 23:55we'll work through the emails that have come in and people
- 23:58will e-mail in to to Diane. And then if they don't get the
- 24:02response they want, if company A wants to pay for this, we'll pay
- 24:06for that. One of the things that we never
- 24:08do at the summit is allow people to sponsor to get on stage.
- 24:13The people on stage, they don't have to sponsor.
- 24:16They can be anybody. We have made sure that we have
- 24:20people on that stage who are start up businesses, new
- 24:23businesses, small businesses. Everyone has a level playing
- 24:28field. One of the things that we do at
- 24:30the summit, if you've ever been, is all of the stands have light
- 24:34boxes that we build for them. We don't have pull up banners
- 24:38and things in the room. And the reason why we do that is
- 24:41that if you are a small business with one person working there or
- 24:45you're a big business with 50 or 100, you all look the same.
- 24:49He gives everyone a fair level playing field.
- 24:53So one of the things that always amazes me is when people do
- 24:55e-mail in sometimes and say, you know, oh, if I sponsor this, can
- 24:58I go on stage and we say Diane or say hello?
- 25:00I said no. And then you'll get an e-mail
- 25:03into the info app e-mail address 10 minutes later, or you'll get
- 25:06an e-mail into the speakers at or this that or the other e-mail
- 25:10addresses at at the summit. Because people assume that
- 25:13something as successful as the summit has this huge team
- 25:16running it, but it doesn't. All of the e-mail addresses are
- 25:19coming in to Diane for me. There's nobody else there.
- 25:22And that's something that I think is amazing, that because
- 25:25of the passion and love that people have for our sector,
- 25:28you've got people like Diane who are running this event.
- 25:32But most people suggest that the summit should have a team of 20
- 25:35running it. And it's got a team of one.
- 25:38We're about to start working on on other regional events with
- 25:42the SDA. And it's exactly the same thing.
- 25:44And it'll be the same thing with the host planet Roadshows, that
- 25:48everyone people will be there and they will assume that it's
- 25:51had. And I think that's great.
- 25:53And it's one of those amazing things that people like Diane do
- 25:57for our sector because of the passion that people have because
- 26:00we are running these small businesses and people love them.
- 26:04That is infectious. It rubs off on other people and
- 26:07we all go the extra mile to make our industry what it is.
- 26:10This amazing community of hundreds and hundreds of small
- 26:14business owners all working together effectively to make
- 26:18sure people have fantastic holidays.
- 26:20Absolutely. Great shout out there for Diane.
- 26:22And yeah, if you've ever been to the short stay summit, as I have
- 26:25a couple of times, it is an outstanding event, one of the
- 26:30best in Europe. That's what somebody described
- 26:32it to me. In fact, they said it was the
- 26:33best in Europe. That was the description.
- 26:36It was, I was, I was given the last time I went and yeah, it
- 26:39was. And the the last event in April
- 26:40was superb. And the, the roadshow event that
- 26:43we're doing next year is actually the day after the
- 26:45summit. So come down to London, get
- 26:48yourself along to the short stay summit and then pop into the the
- 26:50Roadshow event as well. Going to be well worth coming
- 26:53along to. Finally then, Andy, what's one
- 26:57thing that every listener could do today to help protect and
- 27:01grow the UKSTR industry? The one thing you could do a is
- 27:09I mean it it. It sounds corny but join the
- 27:12SDAA. Book your tickets to the host
- 27:15Planet Rd. shows. Get that knowledge, get that
- 27:17education, get that sharing of best practice in our industry.
- 27:23We really need to do it. One of the real positives of our
- 27:26industry is that we are these small businesses full of really
- 27:29passionate owners. It's also one of the negatives
- 27:32of our industry that we're out there dispersed across the
- 27:35country. We don't have, we're not like
- 27:38some of these large hotel companies.
- 27:40We don't have a massive headquarters for short term
- 27:43rentals UK where we all turn up in the morning and we all,
- 27:46there's thousands of us, there are thousands of us, but we're
- 27:49out there in Caerphilly in Edinburgh and still on the world
- 27:52and Borton on the water and we're not talking to each other.
- 27:56Use groups like the SCAA, get involved.
- 28:00Go to the host Planet roadshows, get involved in what James is
- 28:03doing there, talk to each other, share ideas for the We may have
- 28:10competitors amongst other short term rental businesses, but
- 28:13we're not the enemy and we have to remember that no one gets
- 28:19anywhere by putting someone else down.
- 28:21We need to compete, but we need to talk to each other and share
- 28:25our ideas. And that would be the one thing
- 28:27I'd encourage everybody to do. And yes, please join us.
- 28:32Book your ticket to the host planet roadshows for next year.
- 28:34Get the summer season this year out the way.
- 28:36It's, you know, hopefully with the weather out there at the
- 28:39moment, it's I never thought I'd ever say it being here, but it's
- 28:42almost too hot. But hopefully that means we've
- 28:45had a really good summer. And let's start 2026 on a real
- 28:49flyer. We're coming to these roadshows
- 28:51sharing ideas and we if you come, our industry will be
- 28:55better off at the end of next year.
- 28:57Great message, Andy, pleasure to chat as always.
