- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: All right, anymore.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a bird of the rave.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I'm changing it.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Changing it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: I.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: So funny.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: when someone asked me to be raw and natural and authentic, which I normally, I am authentic, you know?
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: But to be like not comical and serious, it's difficult for me.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: But this is in the laughing matter and this is why we're doing connect called you guys.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: No, seriously.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do this again.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Take two.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: Hi.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Hannah Brad.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: Who am I you're asking yourself?
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, so I've been asked, well, I haven't been asked.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm wanting to do this.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: I need to do an intro, a solo video.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so nervous.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if anybody saw Amy Pollard's good hang the first episode where Rachel Tratch just can't get it together and like wires and the door bell and dog.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's how I feel right now.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Red leather yellow leather red leather yellow leather red leather yellow leather we can edit that Okay, hi, my name's Hanabra Hi, I'm Hannah you're probably asking yourself, hey, Hannah what do you do and with this podcast what is it?
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Do we really need another mental health and addiction podcast?
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we do.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we do and this is why my name is Hannah Brett you don't know me
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: I have been working in the treatment industry, I think over 20 years now, and my job, my role, was marketing personnel business development, where I got to really represent some of the best, best programs in the country.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: For young adults, adolescents, professionals, adults, you name it, I repented, or I knew about it.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: And through those 20 years, I have been kind of a collector.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: I like to say a collector and a connector in that I have met a ton of amazing providers.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: I've also met a ton of not so amazing providers and so why I kind of wanted to do this show, connect call was to really highlight all the good out there for mental health and addiction.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: So what is connect call?
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, what is my podcast?
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: What is it and how is it going to be different?
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: I can't think of one right now, you know, like, just call, you know, I won't have that.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: Although, I don't know, no, I won't have that, but why can't I call it, and how it is different is like this.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: So can that call came to me one day when I was thinking to myself, you know, Hannah,
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: In your job, in over 20 years, you know, well, here's the thing, I have been really, really stalling on this podcast and as you all know, if anybody's been following, my announcements, my teasers, my shoutouts that connect calls coming, it's been like a pretty year and I haven't put it down yet, but it's coming to you very soon to subscribe to watch to listen.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: to get tangible resources and steps and tips and know who the best providers are when it comes to mental health and addiction.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's where I get that call.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: No, connect calls like this.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of my job.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: So for the longest time, I lived in a posture syndrome because I didn't think I was an expert.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like an expert needed to have a clinical background and letters behind their name.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that is important.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: But in the role that I have played in my life and in my career,
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to say that I have a PhD in picking up the phone for families in crisis and people and as cheesy as that may seem it is the truth for 20 years morning noon and night I have been the other end of the phone with.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: every individual out there from as small as needing just a therapist to how do we intervene on my child who keeps running from all these treatment centers.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: I have seen it all.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: I run the gamut, okay?
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: There is nothing you have said or can say that will shock me or surprise me.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: And the best part of my job is once I get to hear your story, I get to connect you with some of the
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: Why not share this with more people, you know, because I got to tell you, I'm not going to get all my statistics right, but I do know our country does have a mental health problem every country does right, but our country definitely has a mental health problem in.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: finding resources and good resources is difficult and affordable resources is difficult.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: So what I was trying to do with this podcast was kind of do what I do on the daily but on a bigger platform.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: I will be telling your story or a very relatable story that you'll be able to connect with of a family and individual who's in crisis or has questions for their mental health.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: And real time, I'll be connecting that story to who I would be calling to help walk me through this process and the next steps on this case.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: And in doing that, I'm going to introduce you to some badass people from around the country.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: that I literally trust my life, my family's life with.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: And just, I'm gonna share so much information because information's power.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think I also am doing this podcast because I wanted people to walk away from a podcast with like oh I've got some I've got some steps here or I've got some really good resources here or and just really like can take away some stuff it's important it's important to me because in my job.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: Don't go to the internet.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of like finding a surgeon.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to go based on referral.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: Treatment, one's life, one's sanity is the same thing, you know?
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I think what I'm really excited about is really going to be the idea that I'm going to be able to show you guys like.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: not only who the good guys are and the good treatment, but all kinds of treatment, because there's no one way to recover from your mental health and addiction, or self-medicating.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: There isn't one way.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to be sitting in the seat as a professional, but also as Hannah, who has struggled her whole life with depression, anxiety, then went to self-medicating, started getting addicted to drugs and alcohol,
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: Connect call for me is the answer for why I struggled so long.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, like I truly believe I have tried every treatment.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: I have done everything, I have asked for help.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: I have called the resources so that people like you could struggle us.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: That is my gift for the world, I think.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, I don't know everything.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't tried everything.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: I've been met everybody.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: But I think if you tune in, if you subscribe, you're gonna get, you're gonna get some good stuff.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm a good time.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: I really am, you know?
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: You must save my life, but no seriously.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: My hope for this, my hope for connect call is that,
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can give that single mom out there who's really worried they have no control over their son who's taking her emotionally hostage, you know, some information.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: So she doesn't feel overwhelmed and has power.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: I also hope I can like help that husband out there who's letting their wife drive around the city with their kids, getting DUIs up the Wahzu, know how to intervene, or you know that
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: young man or girl who's in a D1 school playing sports that it's okay you are strong and you can take an anti-depressant that makes you stronger when you ask her help.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: I also am doing it for all the kids out there they feel like there's no hope you know.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: kids who are born in the wrong identity and and think they're not welcome in this world.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, kids who have grown up in this new world that we live in that is nothing like how we grow up and kind of learning and and showing you guys like, what is out there to help your kid, you know, and to show kids that there's so much hope out there.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: Because I've tried it all, everybody.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: Now, my hope also is when you do tune in that you take with you some really helpful steps and resources, and so you're not going back on Google or doing it your way.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: My hope is that from this podcast, more people will look at mental health and addiction, the same way they look at their physical health.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: And from the providers I show you and have as guests and the information I give you, you will follow those directions and guidance and let me help and let them help more important.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: We have to laugh at ourselves, but I really just, I really want to show off my friends.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: They're kind of badass.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to let you know there's a lot of good people out there doing the good work.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: There's also a lot of bad people out there.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, I think showing you the good people is going to be the way to go.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: I came into this world in actress.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I really was.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: I was the president of the Thespian Society and the president of Safe Rides in my high school.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't know what Safe Rides is, it saved your life a long time ago before Uber.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: We would go pick you up from parties when you were drunk.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and then being the homecoming parade on a float with a crash car and chanting, if you're drunk and cannot drive, called 1-8-6-6-4-4-5 or something, I don't know.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: I grew up and I didn't take care of my mental health, and then I started self-medicating, and things got a lot worse.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I went to treatment, and I have met with tons of therapists, tons of psychiatrists, and I've asked for help and tried multiple treatments for everything.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, the wealth of knowledge, I want Connect Call to be
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because so many times when I pick up that phone, I wish more people could hear what I'm saying.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: Not saying I know everything, because I don't.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: But man, I know how to get out of the way and show you the way that makes sense.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: By connecting you with the most amazing providers out there.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's the best gift you can give somebody.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: They're saying it'd be hopefully their life, even, or just some hope that it's going to be okay.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: So why not do it louder and bigger and go on a podcast and do it?
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Duh!
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: And most importantly, connect calls for my mom.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: Monica Brett had no idea how to save her kid, how to love her kid differently, how to get her kid into treatment, how to work on herself while her kid got sober.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: But you know what she did do?
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: She listened to the helpers, and she was guided, and she stepped out of the way.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: And now I have a podcast.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's a tune-in to connect call.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: And just remember parents out there, if you're thinking you have no control, I actually do have a slogan.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: My one line is whoever has the pay source has the say source.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we're gonna drop the mic with that.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know how to do that with that.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: But tune-in, it's going to be fun.
